i need to get less ashamed of talking about my interests on my 0 follower tumblr blog because if i don't point out that despite having one of the most interesting concepts ever presented in a genshin event, shadows amidst snowstorms was not actually well written, and was in fact pretty Poorly written, then who else will. Who else will.
#seashell resonance#Anyway amber hasn't shown up in any content since 1.0 where she wasn't optional or thrown out entirely in favor of standing as an#advertisement for euIa. case in point in the scene in shadows amidst snowstorms where you're waiting outside the cave for albedo the last#person joel was left with was amber. when euIa confronts albedo about the fake trying to lead joel away...there's no mention ever of the#fact that amber...was With Joel. Amber who is an Outrider trained to Notice Danger. Either left joel with fakebedo without noticing anythin#or the actual explanation: hoyo didn't care enough to write her because. well. Amber Bad#the next time we see her is when she shows up with bennett#amber used to have a lot of fire to her and this sort of unique not quite cockiness but like. easy way to tell she used to be the difficult#kid we hear about in her character stories and teapot dialogue#she serves no purpose in shadows amidst snowstorms#an event that easily could've capitalized on the Horror aspect of being trapped with a doppelganger of one of your coworkers and shown off#ALL the characters (because get this. You can make people wanna spend on characters who aren't meta by making them Like Them.)#but amber? no value in any event she's ever been in. she talks about good hunter and sticky honey roast. she gets flustered. euIa pays for#her meal. Remember how she was in Almost All of razor's story quest and then when they needed a knight to give him a gift in weinlessefest#they chose...SUCROSE AND NOELLE?#remember how collei has had more on screen interactions with fucking euIa and sucrose than AMBER#how amber and collei's reunion was what people wanted to see and instead it happens off screen and amber simply isn't relevant during#windblume? how amber didn't get a skin with lisa and kaeya? how amber has no appearance in kaeya's hangout event despite their dynamic in#the webtoon and her being suspicious of him presenting so much room to work with?#her tcg dialogue has a meta joke in it. Because amber bad and amber doesn't exist outside of euIa and connecting collei to euIa#and i could go on. about the writing for cyno. about collei. about the way they write kokomi or any genius character. about albedo even.#about all my Other gripes with euIa because they go to about every single aspect of her character except her Basic personality#which is to say the personality we see in most of her voicelines. she could've literally been a saving grace for the cast if she weren't on#of the like top 3 worst written characters#i could talk about like almost any character's decay but that's not the point. Not the point. Nobody look atme.#i tried to replace the L in euIa's name with a capital i to make this post not show up in front of her enjoyers somehow but if it does#sorry about that! no problems with you it's hoyoverse who has my ire#i have so much more to say even just about amber specifically since she is. Unfortunately my fav and unfortunately almost the only characte#i care about whenever my enjoyment of genshin even Slightly wanes#but nobody will ever see it because that essay i write in my head seven times a day is for Me. Best Friends Boyfriend - G.W
Masterlist, Requesting Rules, Writing Prompts
Part 2 of my slow burn mini-series, inspired by and dedicated to @amourtentiaa , want to be tagged? Let me know!
This chapter is inspired by @amourtentiaa ‘s Owlery which you can learn more about and access here.
Please read Part 1 if you haven't already!
George Weasley x Fem Reader slow burn
Warnings: Fluff.
You couldn’t get last night out of your head, the sound of George whispering to you, asking you out on a date, how his beautiful face looked from the amber tones coming from the flames that radiated against his face, the way he smiled and licked his lips.
Laying in bed wide awake you kept your hand over your mouth, trying to hold in your giggles so you wouldn’t wake up Hermione and your other dorm mates. You couldn’t believe it - you’re going on a date, with George Weasley, the lad you fancy more than anyone else in the world - the only problem, your best friend, George’s younger brother, Ron, wouldn’t approve and would do anything to make sure the two of you keep well away from one another.
Throughout the whole day, you played it cool when passing George in the common room or the great hall, but as the day moved on and afternoon turned into evening, you couldn’t stop the giggles of excitement from bursting out, and the tint of pink to spread across your cheeks.
You had two hours until you were meeting George, for now, you sat in the common room with Ron and Hermione whilst Harry had Occlumency lessons with Snape.
“What d’you keep giggling about?” Ron hissed at you, scowling “you’ve been at it all day and you’re freaking me out.”
You covered your face with your hands, taking a deep breath and trying to calm the bubbling of nerves and excitement.
“N-Nothing” you replied, “I think I inhaled a dodgy potion somebody was brewing in the second-floor toilets this morning” you lied, avoiding eye contact with your best friend and his crush, Hermione.
Ron gave you an odd look and flashed his eyes to Hermione, who glared at him and shrugged her shoulders.
“Shouldn’t you go to Madame Pomfrey?” she suggested, knitting another hat for the house-elves.
Nodding your head, you got out of your chair and pursed your lips, “yeah, I think I will” you lied again “let me go and get freshened up, she might want to keep me in overnight if the giggles get worse” you smirked, chuckling.
Leaving your friends behind, you hurried off to your dorm room, getting your makeup, clothes, and shoes ready to put on after your shower, placing your clothes and makeup bag on the bed, kicking your shoes on the floor beside it.
“I dunno what's up with her” Ron huffed, slouching in his chair beside the fire.
Hermione continued knitting “Well, hopefully, Madame Pomfrey can sort her out, uncontrollable giggling can get you sent to St. Mungo’s.”
Ron focused on the bobble hat coming together in front of his eyes, trying to make sense of your behaviour today and if there was something else going on after his brother played Hero during the end of your horrific date.
Wearing your best black denim front pocket Pinafore dress over your red and yellow striped turtleneck and black tights, you stared at yourself in the mirror, blushing slightly at the thought of George seeing you dolled up just for him. You pouted, deep in thought and unsure of what hairstyle to do, checking the time you were cutting it close and decided your go-to natural, no school but not overdoing it hairstyle would be best.
“Tomorrow night, where we first met” you reminded yourself, hearing George’s voice inside your head.
Thinking long and hard about when you first met George and where, you closed your eyes and tried to focus, all of your memories whizzing around in your head - you couldn’t help but feel your heart flutter knowing that not only did George remember, but he also perhaps thought of that day often.
Hurrying out of your dorm and back into the common room, Harry now sat down with Hermione and Ron, they all seemed taken aback by your appearance, furrowing their brows at you.
“You’re a bit dressed up for a doctors appointment, aren’t you?” Hermione called out.
Ron looked at you from head to toe “I think you’ve overdone it, mate-”
“See you later!” you giggled, a spring in your step as you left the common room, going through the portrait hole.
Ron, Harry, and Hermione exchanged looks, none of them knowing what to think or say was becoming a reoccurring factor today.
“Something isn’t right at all” Ron muttered “she’s up to something”
Reaching the owlery, you felt your excitement and nervousness compete against one another inside of you, being a few minutes early, you had enough time to admire all of the owls around you who were getting ready to go out hunting. Each of them unique and calming to look at, stroke, and hear a hoot. The memories finally coming back to you more clearly.
Your first week at Hogwarts went more awful than you ever imagined, you had got lost on the way to your classes, got into trouble by Percy - your houses Prefect and due to your terrible potion skills Snape put you in a weeks detention, your parents were so angry you received a Howler before anyone else in your class.
Feeling lost, alone, and in need of a friend, you wrote out your worries, concerns and everything else you were feelings into letters, addressed to your friends attending other Wizarding Schools (like Ilvermorny) across the globe.
Writing about your feelings, life, and anything, in general, helped to make you feel better, heard, and less isolated from the impressive and promising classmates that surrounded you.
Walking up the long and steep steps up to the Owlery, your heart melted at the Owls, some sleeping, some bobbing their heads around, and others appearing to be smiling at you. You felt connected to them in some sort of way, and spending time with them, knowing they didn’t care about your house, or how well you could make a feather float in the air made you feel more at ease.
You stared and smiled at your Tawny owl named Penny, you approached her trying to avoid the owl droppings and rat carcasses and stroked her softly, handing her your letters.
“Please deliver these safely,” you told her, tears filling your eyes again “it’s taken a lot for me to write them”
Penny accepted the letters and understood how important this job was, and how much it would mean to you, she pecked at your cheek, little kisses against your tears before she flapped her gorgeous wings and took flight.
Not wanting to go back down to your Herbology class to be a laughing stock, you stayed in the owlery, falling to the floor and weeping.
“If these reports get sent home mum will kill us” once voice spoke out, panting up the stairs.
“Well” replied a similar voice, also panting “we need to change our grades and get one of these owls to send it to her for us, it's why I made a fake replica”
Their voices and footsteps came closer.
“As long as Errol and Hermes aren’t delivering it, we’ll be fine Georgie.”
Two tall twins with ginger hair walked into the Owlery shiftily, both of them stopping in their tracks, noticing you crying on the floor, drowning in your robes.
George’s face and heart softened, he mouthed to his brother ‘leave it with me, I’ll get it sent, let me see why she’s upset’
Freddie nodded and slowly left the Owlery, trying not to make a sound.
You missed Penny with all your heart, after many trips she became so sick and injured no magic, and no amount of Hagrid’s care and love was enough to fix her wings and bring her back to life. When you lost Penny, you lost part of yourself, the Owlery wasn’t the same without her and each time you visited, you would break down into tears.
“You made it, early” George called out, pulling you out of your trip down memory lane, causing you to jump slightly.
You blinked back the forming tears and turned around to face him, the moonlight illuminating his best features through the open arches. “Didn’t want to be late” you replied, smiling nervously, stroking one of the owls.
“You were so little” George chuckled “but even after growing up so much somethings never change”
You cocked up an eyebrow and smirked, slightly confused “what do you mean?”
“The owls” he replied “your love for them, the time you make for them, it’s beautiful”
You could feel your cheeks heating up, your heart rate elevating.
“They’re special to me” you replied, trying not to come across as too shy.
George blushed too, his cheeks mirroring yours as he stepped closer, so close you could count each individual freckle across his face - something you had only done from across the halls or over the table.
“that’s why I asked for us to meet here,” George said softly, stepping closer to you, his breath brushing against you “because you’re special to me”
George took hold of your hand, tracing stars into your palm with his thumb, his eyes taking in your hair, your makeup, your outfit, and shoes. He started to lean in, as did you, your soft lips brushing against his cinnamon scented ones, but pulled away before you could share a kiss, smirking and winking at you.
“I’ve got a surprise for you,” he said nervously “I’ve been trying to give her to you for a while now, but whenever I’ve tried, Ron always got in the way”
You rolled your eyes “he always does” you replied “he doesn’t like the idea of us being together” you frowned, looking away from George and lowering your head, deciding to examine your shoes.
George lifted your chin up with his thumb, smiling at you “he doesn’t have to know” he paused “stay very quiet and follow me” he whispered, still holding your hand.
George walked you over to a very tired looking owl, her wings and body covering something small underneath her. George whispered to the owl “It’s George, she’s ready now”
The tired owl opened her googly eyes, staring at George, slowly and reluctantly moving away from her precious possession underneath her motherly wings. Underneath the wings lay a tiny owlet, its large magnificent eyes opening wide and staring at George, then you.
“I know he’ll never replace Penny” George murmured, wrapping his arm around you “but I want you to have a safe space here, I know how much of that Penny provided for you and I know how much of that changed when she passed away.”
You reached out your hand to stroke the baby, “it’s okay” you reassured his nervous mother “I’m not going to hurt him”
You ran the back of your finger down the Owlets fluffy back, its face showing signs of enjoyment and comfort, something rare amongst owls.
George watched in awe, the memories of you when you were much shorter and quieter flashing before him, now you were a beautiful young woman, with the same heart full of love and nurturing.
Tears of happiness streamed down your cheeks, you leaned into George and cuddled him, your face pressed against his chest, the scent of the burrow engulfing you.
“George - I - thank you, he’s beautiful”
George closed his eyes, taking in your face against his chest, his hand stroking your hair.
“I care for you, Y/N” he spoke out again “I know we were never that close, but you’re not just my little brother's friend to me”
You pulled yourself off his chest, looking up into his gorgeous eyes.
“like these owls, you’re unique, you’re special” he whispered.
“What’s your obsession with these owls anyway?” the tall boy asked, fiddling with his fake report.
“They’re unique” you replied quietly, walking around “they’re special”
George looked down into your eyes, his nose poking yours softly, leaning in, you didn’t pull back and allowed him to pull you gently into him.
His heart and yours racing, as your hand rested upon his chest, and his arm around your waist, your lips grazing against each other, turning into a deep, soft kiss.

No. 4 - TRUST FALL
“Do you trust me?” | taken hostage | pushed
+++
Genshin Impact | Diluc, Kaeya, and Mondstadt’s resident dragon friend
(crossposted to AO3)
+++
“Well, what a surprise this is, you asking me for help? You must be really desperate, then.”
“Don’t get any ideas. I’m not asking for your help tonight; I’m only asking for this one favor.”
“So, you play hero and I watch from the sidelines? Hmph, you wound me, Diluc.”
Diluc leveled his eyes at Kaeya with complete lack of amusement. He really didn’t have time for this. He pulled his sort-of brother into the stock room at Angel’s Share this morning with the intention of getting him alone with as little fanfare as possible (he wouldn’t be going to the knights for this, that’s for certain) and in as little time as possible. “I’m serious,” he insisted. “I’m only asking you to do this because you’re the only one who can. I need you to convince Vind to leave her post, just for one night. There’s going to be danger, and I need to ensure her safety. Obviously, I can’t do it myself, as this could reveal me as…well, the rumored vigilante.”
“The Darknight Hero, you mean?” Kaeya supplied with a smirk.
“Don’t call me that.”
“Fine, fine.” Kaeya shrugged. “I understand; you wish to keep your secret identity a secret. No worries; I have no intention of letting Vind be prey to some Abyss mages tonight. I’ll make an excuse to get her out.”
“Right…wait!” Diluc’s eyes widened at the realization. “I didn’t tell you—!"
“That the Abyss Order was the ‘danger’ described?” Kaeya appeared far too satisfied with himself. “Don’t be so surprised. I have my sources just like you have yours. It is the reason why Sucrose is on her way right now to tell Vind about those strange weather anomalies in Dragonspine that need her attention right now, as they could be the sign of a great storm that the expertise passed down to her through generations might be useful for. Plus, she has the official knightly request signed by yours truly.”
Diluc sighed. “You…already had a plan.” Of course, he did. A very official-sounding one, actually. “Wait, is there actually…?” If this was a lie, there was no way that Sucrose would go with it.
“No, probably not, it’s just a little stretching of the truth. I asked Albedo to hype up the facts for this purpose. But don’t worry, he doesn’t know any details.”
And…he got Albedo in on his scheme as well. “You would think of everything.” He exhaled while rubbing the bridge of his nose. “Well, fine then, you do that; I’ll handle the rest.”
It really wasn’t that much of a surprise to him that Kaeya would show up anyways. And, if he was being honest, it wasn’t unwelcome. Especially considering his timing.
Diluc struggled to regain his footing quickly, use the flat side of his claymore as a shield when another barrage of cryo icicles came his way. The cryo still caused a melt reaction on the flaming bush in front of him that made the fire burst in his face and deal yet another painful shot of damage. He inhaled a sharp breath and responded with launching himself at the cryo abyss mage with a flaming sword. He then unleashed his flaming phoenix on the hoard—half of Stormbreaker Point was already on fire, so it really wouldn’t matter if he added more flames to the mix.
A wound on Diluc’s arm was bleeding heavily, and he reached up to touch his face to confirm that there was blood there, too. Before him, a large group of abyss mages and Hilichurls made a blockade stretching across the clifftop and around the watchtower, and behind them, four Ruin Guards stood as support. The grass and trees around them had caught on fire, making a beacon in the pitch-black night sky. Behind Diluc, there was the edge of Stormbreaker Point and the long drop to the ocean. And beside him, there was Kaeya.
Diluc did not expect the fight to be as intense as it was. He knew that the Order was planning some raid because they got it in their heads that the tower at Stormbreaker Point must have something vitally important in it, and that Vind was some kind of powerful, mystical protector of it. Hilichurls hung around the tower a lot, so maybe they…communicated, somehow? Either way, Diluc planned to put a stop to it. However, he wasn’t planning on this much resistance…maybe they learned of his involvement?
Or maybe, that one Abyss mage in the middle, the cackling pyro one, was just a cut smarter than the rest. It made a point to sneer at the “Darknight Hero” upon Diluc’s arrival, and when Kaeya came in from nowhere to bowl through the line and take his place by Diluc’s side, it sneered at him, too.
“Well, if it isn’t the great cavalry captain of the Knights of Favonius? Such a…wonderfully unique star in your eye, isn’t it?”
Diluc felt Kaeya tense by his side.
“Hehehe, what’s the matter? Worried about your precious Darknight Hero? Or your precious secrets?”
Kaeya didn’t respond to the taunt. He kept his stance steady, his sword angled towards the hoard. His one visible eye didn’t lose sight of the sword’s target. “They’re coming,” Kaeya spoke in a whisper that only Diluc could hear. “Our reinforcements.”
So Kaeya knew, coming here, that the battle was bad enough that they would need help.
“What’s that, oh great knightly captain?”
Most of the mages didn’t talk that much. Diluc wasn’t sure they even knew much, or if they remembered things. They ran on their one-track goal against humanity, and they plotted and schemed to meet that goal. It was enough of a reason to destroy every one of their ilk Diluc saw.
(He tried not to think much about what Kaeya told him that day, about the truth. He didn’t know what to do with that truth. He couldn’t protect Mondstadt if he doubted what he should do about it, so he didn’t. Whatever those mages used to be, they were only monsters now.)
Kaeya unleashed a blast of cryo in front of him, and Diluc followed by running into the fray of fighting renewed, taking out every creature he saw. In his distraction, he almost missed that he had been targeted by a Ruin Guard’s missile, and he stumbled to the ground in a desperate last-minute attempt to dodge. A Mitachurl tried to capitalize on that moment of weakness and bring down its giant flaming axe on him, but Kaeya in that moment dove in and struck the monster deep in the side. He then grabbed Diluc and they dodged backwards.
They were going back too far. Little by little, they were losing ground, to the point that their feet neared the edge of the precipice. Still, they fought. It hadn’t been so long for them that Diluc’s fighting by Kaeya’s side felt unnatural…although it was odd. Because, they were older now. Kaeya had a Cryo vision now. Everything was…different, but every now and again, they’d still end up doing something together anyways.
Diluc breathed heavily, his hands around his claymore sweating underneath the gloves. He pushed whatever pain he felt from his injuries somewhere deep, deep in the back of his mind. He needed—they needed to push through the line. He wasn’t confident in the state of his glider after getting himself roughed up and singed so much or in their ability to avoid further attacks during their descent.
“Kaeya, we need to—”
“Diluc, do you trust me?”
Diluc’s eyes darted over to him, taken aback by the gravity in Kaeya’s softly-spoken question. “What kind of question is that?”
“Well, do you?”
As if he could answer that in one sentence or less. He trusted him…in some ways, he guessed. He trusted him in battle. He trusted him…with Mondstadt, yes. Just…well…that was all very besides the point and this was really not the time. “Yes, sure,” he huffed.
“Excellent.” Kaeya smiled.
What was he—?
Then, Kaeya laughed, loudly and triumphantly, a wild look in his eye and he reached out for Diluc’s collar and grabbed it tight. His soft voice had turned into a shouting, mocking one. “Hahaha, end of the line, Darknight Hero! The Knights have no need of meddlers like you!”
What the fu—
He pushed him. Before Diluc knew what was happening, he felt his body succumbing to gravity, his feet losing their hold on the stone of Stormbreaker Point’s edge and following the rest of his body into the open air, suddenly void of every handhold or foothold within reach.
Kaeya fucking pushed him.
Diluc had to open his glider—fast. It wasn’t working. The hell was Kaeya thinking he couldn’t open it in time he was going to—
And then, he landed on something with a thud, much sooner than he should have. The surface uneven and scaly and distinctly familiar, it didn’t take him long to realize that it was a someone. Was that—?
Dvalin arced into the sky with a powerful beat of his wings, looping back around to the space underneath the cliff, coming in close at the moment Kaeya jumped off the edge as well. Diluc repositioned himself on Dvalin’s back to a place of more stability astride his spine and watched Kaeya make a much more graceful (much better prepared, that is) landing than he did.
Diluc’s first thought was that he was relieved to see Kaeya in one piece. His second was that it was time to demand an explanation. “What was that about?”
“Clever, wasn’t it?”
“You could have told me something!”
“But would it have believable to the mages if I did? You’re not that great of an actor, Diluc.”
“Your theatrics are utterly pointless,” Diluc huffed. “And now that we’re both gone, who’s going to stop them?”
“Well, look down,” Kaeya directed.
Dvalin had flown back up into the sky, well above the surface of the cliff but low enough that one could see exactly what was going on. Diluc looked down and saw, sure enough, some familiar forms attacking the small army on the cliff, now at the perfect position to pin them against the edge. He saw Jean herself, along with Amber, the Traveler, Eula, and a number of other knights as backup. Diluc had almost forgotten that Kaeya did tell him about the reinforcements. Looking again, he noticed even Venti hanging in the back, acting as if he were there for mild support and not the actual anemo archon. Dvalin’s presence was probably his doing. Wait, Kaeya didn’t know about Venti, did he…?
“Since we had discovered during our Golden Apple Archipelago adventure that our very curious bard friend is a good friend of our resident dragon, I thought I’d ask him for his assistance. Sure, there’s other ways we could have gone about this, but sometimes, striking fear into the hearts of your enemy is very much a job for ‘theatrics,’ as you called them.”
Well, it did make some sense, Diluc guessed. He was just relieved to see that the reinforcements in question were having little trouble that hoard which had given him such a difficult time solo. Still, the relief didn’t quite keep all the lingering irritation from his voice. “You really called in the knights.”
“Well, this may come as a surprise, but that is their job.”
“Hmph,” Diluc grunted. “You say that like it would have been easy to get the bureaucracy to trust an anonymous source about the attack happening in the first place. They’re consistently useless on matters like this.”
“So you still don’t trust them.”
“No.” He’s established this already.
“All of them?”
“I trust Jean,” Diluc clarified.
Although, he supposed she might not be the only one on the list. There were…some knights who knew what they were doing, mostly. And, he had respect for the Honorary Knight, not that they really counted as a “knight” in an institutional sense.
“Well, that’s a start.” Kaeya shook his head with a smile. “I’d be worried if you threw even her under the bus for doing nothing wrong at all.”
“It’s not like that.”
“Is it, now?”
“Kaeya, what are you even talking about?”
“Well, maybe I could bring to your recollection that because of your insistence on working alone, you walked into a rather significant ambush today, facing a threat to Mondstadt without bothering to communicate to the people of Mondstadt, and also sending poor Vind all the way to Dragonspine because you couldn’t be forthright on the potential danger to her life.”
“You know that last part was specifically your plan, right?”
“But you were the one who wanted me to make up an excuse.”
“You literally already had your plan in motion while I was talking to you this morning!”
“Are you two quite finished?” Dvalin’s booming voice rattled through their ribs, his point made quite loud and clear.
“Right, understood,” Kaeya agreed. “So, Diluc, ready to head back and get someone to look at that arm of yours?”
“I can still fight, if that’s what you’re thinking.”
“I do not think that would be necessary. They’ll be fine, and besides, I can always return to provide backup.”
“No,” Diluc refused. “If I’m seeing a healer, so are you.”
“So you’re fine with that, then?”
Dvalin was already ending his circling to start heading towards the city of Mondstadt, but Diluc could still look back and see the clashing forces on the cliff, now with two Ruin Guards down and many more mages extinguished or thrown off the edge. It was clear to see who the winning side was, now.
“It’s fine,” Diluc finally conceded with a steady exhale. “I trust them.”

Summary: There were others who loved and needed Kagome even though InuYasha was meant to be with her. He knew this, but gods, the cost of it. He thought he paid it in full by hardly fighting the Bone Eater’s Well, but now there were others who missed her too.

Things to Keep
InuYasha lounged under the shade of one of many trees lining the river near Kaede’s village. Miroku washed his family’s night robes with Gyokuto strapped to his back while Sango burped Kin’u. It’d been over a year since the well sealed. InuYasha still thought about the surprised look on Kagome’s face when he was pulled back, but he prefered to remember her safe in her mother’s arms. It was difficult to do.
Kin’u burped and, within seconds, Sango had the newborn secured to her back again. When she kneeled by Miroku and told him she’d take over, InuYasha’s ear flicked. Despite catching their soft commentary more often, Sango’s tone was much gentler than the half-demon was used to hearing. Miroku made room for her effortlessly, choosing to help by trading clean pieces of laundry with dirty ones.
This was how they all lived now, resting by the greenery and exchanging cloth instead of sutras and oversized boomerangs. He wondered if Kagome’s days were boring like his; she always seemed frantic when he came to pick her up. Maybe she didn’t have time to think about them anymore. It would be easier for her that way.
Miroku shifted, putting InuYasha in Gyokuto’s line of vision. The newborn extended her arm out to him, and he was fascinated by the way her fingers flexed. There was more space between them now than there was last month. InuYasha had never really been around human babies before and it felt weird to compare the lethargic emptiness Kagome left in her wake to the enthusiastic growth of infants. InuYasha offered Kin’u a passing glance. He wasn’t going to tell her mother that an icicle of drool would fall onto her back soon.
The spring sun warmed people in its path and InuYasha’s legs didn’t understand the chill lingering on his torso because of it. Kin’u was gurgling now, gnawing on her fist. Miroku once told InuYasha how remarkable it was for him to tell the twins apart as quickly as he did, but the monk must’ve forgotten his nose. The girls looked the same, but their scents were unique. It was kind of like Kikyo and Kagome’s: similar but only on the first sniff.
The afternoons were getting longer again.
InuYasha opened one eye at the exact moment Sango began shaking out a small, fibrous white towel with blue polka dots. As if possessed by a demon, InuYasha was there. Standing by the river, standing before Sango. The towel never broke the water’s surface.
“What’s that?” InuYasha asked, arms folded over his chest. Sango quickly pulled the towel to her heart. The polka dots contorted in the slayer’s grasp, and her brown eyes widened with the tiniest hint of fear. It was as if she believed InuYasha’s claw tipped fingers would swipe it from her forever. As if. He wasn’t a jerk. Sango glowered at him anyway, firm. She knew what it meant for him to see this, and she wouldn’t let it go just to ease his heartache when it would worsen hers.
The two never spoke about Kagome and he didn’t want that to change. He should have wanted it to, but he didn’t. It hardly made sense, but he’d been struggling to make sense of a lot over the past year. His throat closed up when he tried talking about Kagome. The words refused to leave him.
InuYasha leaned forward, far from Sango but close enough to learn that this wasn’t the item’s first trip to the river. It still smelled like her. Bergamot and lilies and early summer mornings; half blue and half pink skies that fog never touched. “That’s Kagome’s.”
Without meaning to, he committed the thing to memory which explained why he placed it so easily. Kagome asked if he wanted to use it after him and Miroku’s run-in with the moth demon, Gatenmaru. The blood of that bastard’s human lackeys sank into InuYasha’s skin long before his humanity rose to the surface. The towel couldn’t have helped him any, and if he tried hard enough, InuYasha’d probably still catch scent of their blood like phantoms on the wind. The half-demon reached, finally accepting the school girl’s gesture, but Sango turned away. “Where’d you get that?” He asked.
“From Kagome’s bag; it wasn’t the only one in there,” Sango replied, submerging it into the river and forcing more distance between them. InuYasha’s brow twitched, but he doubted the demon slayer cared.
Brown eyes. Bergamot. Unwavering resilience. All of that flowed downstream now. He hated it.
“We–”
“Keh, it’s none of my business,” InuYasha spat, spinning on his heel. The towel was still his business. His arm felt like it was shaking even though InuYasha could clearly see it wasn’t. The plush towel sat behind his closed eyelids, opposite ends fluttering against the side of Sango’s hands as she held it in place. The polka dots grew and shrunk in a rhythm set by the rushing water. A budding mental itch grew to push Sango onto the grass so he could pluck Kagome’s towel out and run far, far away with it.
InuYasha swallowed hard, flicking an ear casually. Kin’u was there and he’d never shove Sango. If he grit his teeth, InuYasha could do it. He could continue letting the demon slayer turn what little he had left of Kagome into meaningless things to keep.
“With the birth of the twins, we felt it was necessary,” Miroku confessed as InuYasha continued walking away. If he stayed, he’d make an ass of himself.
There were others who loved and needed Kagome even though InuYasha was meant to be with her. He knew this, but gods, the cost of it. He thought he paid it in full by hardly fighting the Bone Eater’s Well, but now there were others who missed her too. Listening to Sango ring out the towel, InuYasha knew he was still paying his price. She wouldn’t miss Kagome’s scent like him, but knowing that another part of Kagome was leaving curdled his thoughts, ate at the same damn spot on his chest.
“Whatever.”
InuYasha heard Kagome calling out his name as he settled back against the trunk of a tree further from his initial spot. Like Miroku and Sango gave a shit. The sound of his name–the sound of her saying his name–lingered. Nostalgic.
The slayer handed her washed towel to Miroku, prompting an unwarranted pensive glance to be aimed in his direction. “Keh,” InuYasha huffed, turning his nose away from the monk. He turned it back in time to watch Miroku offer the towel a tender stare. Deep violet eyes looked as if stroking the fabric was a gesture that could be felt across time. If he hadn’t done the same sort of things, InuYasha would have scoffed.
Miroku placed the towel in the straw basket with everything else.
One leg breached past the leaves’ shade and a pair of amber eyes seemed to glow, overseeing a family that perpetuated the same cycle: Hand the husband something clean, one baby coos, put it in the basket, give the wife something dirty, the other baby coos, scrub.
InuYasha cupped his hands together before placing them behind his head. He closed his eyes once more, resting, picturing her running across the plush grass. Kagome waved to him and her hand practically skimmed the clouds. Her shoes never crunched down onto the ground like their friends’ straw sandals did. She was a familiar combination of green and white and black with a dash of red. She had a warmth that pierced through the arrow Kikyo used to seal him, every punch Sesshomaru landed, his own demonic blood, and now the loss of her.
An incessant jangling sprinkled like rain in his mind, wiping away at the sunlight and clouds that Kagome always reached. InuYasha blinked a few times, adjusting to this world with only Miroku, Sango, and the twins. “‘Bout time you finished,” he grumbled, standing fully in the shade.
“You know, an extra set of hands would be helpful next time,” Miroku suggested with a predictable waggle of his brows. InuYasha felt his own brows being dragged down; Kagome should’ve let the monk steal her iron cart and cycle away from them permanently back when they first met.
“No thanks.”
The days really were getting longer. The sun hadn’t budged, poised exactly where he last saw it. Sango snickered and InuYasha brushed past her, grabbing the basket of wet laundry and stomping from the grassy knoll to the main path. A stupid decision, really. The slayer’s eyes could have burnt holes through him if she’d been the right kind of demon. Even though she was a human, this type of stare would–
“Hey, InuYasha,” Sango began, and the half-demon let out an exasperated sigh. He fixed his focus to the huts ahead. Dark wood and reed mats and crackling fires.
“What?” Occasionally, a fractured piece of rock got stuck to the balls of his feet, and InuYasha was half tempted to kick one up to chuck at the trees.
“You can talk to us. You know that, right?”
“Keh.” And there it was, the block in his throat. How could he speak about Kagome like this? There wasn’t any room for the words.
“Is that all you have to say?” Sango snarled as the half-demon continued standing quietly, his expression unchanged. “Ever since the well reappeared, you’ve been acting like Kagome was never here! Don’t you miss her? Isn’t there any–”
“You don’t know a damn thing,” InuYasha ground out, closing the distance between them before the slayer could even finish. He stared down at her, but Sango met his glare relentlessly. She was the one who took Kagome’s towel without a second thought, Sango went through the bag Kagome packed right before their last battle together, and she was the person responsible for carelessly washing away the bergamot and lilies. “Kagome is safe and that’s it,” he finished and he meant it.
Sango grimaced, stomping her foot. InuYasha caught Kin’u watching them, thin brows scrunching just like her mother’s. “Oh, InuYasha, you’re absolutely insufferable!”
InuYasha placed a hand to his hip, yearning to step on a pebble. He scowled at Sango and gave the basket an extra sniff to remind himself how the scent of Kagome barely wrapped around Miroku and Sango’s. His body felt like a chattering leaf. “Did you expect me to cry or something?”
Sango sighed, walking past him and taking back her laundry. “No,” she mumbled, walking ahead of him.
Miroku stopped, clapping a hand to the half-demon’s shoulders. “Try not get too mad, she means well.”
“I know that,” InuYasha huffed, allowing the monk to step ahead. He watched the family, arms crossed over his chest, before picking up the rear. The five continued, a squeamish silence settling over them that left the twins lightly whimpering every now and again.
In a stroke of luck, InuYasha stepped on a rock. Kicking it up to his hands, he contemplated where to throw it. He tossed it in the air a few times. The silver ears atop his head swiveled, and a large grin spread across his features as he honed in on the unmistakable scent of a rabbit in the bushes. Wouldn’t hurt to spook the thing, InuYasha thought to himself, eyes on the forest. Just as he reeled his hand back, he lowered it, turning sharply to face Sango. She was pilfering through the laundry basket like a deranged woman. Ah, she finally snapped, InuYasha noted. “Isn’t there something of Kagome’s that you hold onto too!?” the slayer nearly screamed, thrusting that white and blue dotted piece of cloth like a trophy above her head.
“I don’t see how that’s any of your business,” the half-demon retorted, tucking the rock in his robe. His hand glided past a smooth surface, something foreign to his clothes but close to him nonetheless. His fingers grasped at its binding. Miroku chuckled, much to InuYasha and Sango’s dismay. “What’s so funny, Bozo?”
“It’s just that there is a piece of Lady Kagome that you could never be rid of.” The half-demon squinted, his steeped ire pacified but not peacefully. Miroku inhaled theatrically, placing one hand on his hip and pointing his shakujo in an accusatory manner. InuYasha stepped back, eyes widening. Miroku leaned forward, revealing Gyokuto’s black hair from over his shoulder. “InuYasha, sit!”
“Ah!” InuYasha was instantly squashing his ears at the command, waiting to be slammed into the dirt. He never fell. A shiver sprinted up and down his spine all while Miroku laughed hysterically at his expense. The monk was doubled over, hands holding tightly to his dumb knees. “You bastard!” InuYasha roared, his fist already in the perfect position to whack some sense into that cheap excuse of a holy man. But then two big, brown eyes and cheeks that were way too round filled his vision and InuYasha stopped. Stupid monk with his stupid children and his stupid wife.
InuYasha was grumbling, sounds not forming words; thoughts running into dead ends. And then those thoughts were drowned out, consumed by the sound of his pulse, and InuYasha decided to share it. “I keep this!” He closed his eyes and held out a yellow book that read High School Mathematics: Quick Solutions to All Problems.
“Oh, so you did steal something of Lady Kagome’s,” Miroku responded, walking up to inspect the item.
“Uh, yeah. Wait, I didn’t steal it from her bag, I borrowed it from her house way before we met you lot.”
“Is that one of her school things?” Sango inquired, already mere centimeters from InuYasha. He didn’t remember her being that fast.
InuYasha shrugged. “Dunno, Myoga thought it had spells in it.”
“And you never gave it back?” Miroku asked, a whimsical smirk settling into place. InuYasha wanted to gag. “That would make it a stolen good.”
“Oh yeah, and what’s it to you?”
Miroku took the book from InuYasha, flipping through its pages. Some of them turned in chunks, demon guts and rainy weather having seeped through his robe at some point or another. “It’s weathered; surely Lady Kagome wouldn’t treat her belongings this way.”
“Hey, give that back!” InuYasha objected, attempting to swipe it. Miroku swerved, continuing to review the material like he knew exactly how it read. “I just forgot about it is all.” He was lying.
“I hope it wasn’t important. You know how upset Kagome gets about school,” Sango commented, her shoulders bouncing Kin’u lightly.
“She never said nothing to me about it,” InuYasha brushed off with a shrug, an odd pining for Kagome’s shrill nagging manifesting itself as plain as day. Miroku showed the book to Gyokuto, and she lifted a chubby arm out, her moist palm slamming onto one of the pages. “H-hey! Don’t let your kid touch that, it’s mine!”
Miroku ignored InuYasha completely, a warm expression gracing his features as he let his daughter continue her smacking. “Gyokuto, one day Papa will teach you how to read and maybe you’ll understand this.”
“Good luck, even I can’t make heads or tails of it,” InuYasha said, reaching out and successfully getting it back. The abrupt motion must have surprised Gyokuto because she began crying, and it didn’t take long for Kin’u to join in, and InuYasha let out another groan. This was all too much.
“Aw, I’m sorry, girls. Did the big dog startle you?”
“Whatever, let’s go,” InuYasha grunted, stomping ahead of the family once more.
The red of his robe leaked through to his vision and singed his cheeks. This conversation should never have happened; he shouldn’t have acknowledged that towel and he shouldn’t have gotten so worked up over the sit.
“InuYasha, slow down!” He ignored the request, feeling as if steam shot from his nostrils. He had half a mind to make a break for it, already far past his limit. “Come on,” Miroku all but pleaded.
“What!? What is it that you want now?” The half-demon barked, shoving Kagome’s book back into his robes.
InuYasha couldn’t explain why he’d waited for the two. Miroku’s expression was squared into a place that InuYasha wanted to keep his distance from. It looked like he was about to spout shit straight from the Buddha. “My friend, please understand.”
“Understand what, exactly?”
Piercing deep indigo clashed against flurrying amber.
“That we inhale and must consequently exhale, never experiencing the same breath twice. This is also true for those we meet on our path to enlightenment. They too must leave without returning, but the life they’ve given us can be appreciated long after we’ve breathed anew.” A single bushy brow rose at the analogy. Miroku cleared his throat, continuing, “Lady Kagome may be in her world, but she has managed to keep a part of herself here nonetheless. Through towels or books, my friend, she is with us and we should value that.” He patted InuYasha, right where Kagome’s book lay underneath layers of fire rat.

Summer
Hello! I am SO sorry for having gone MIA all of a sudden on Tumblr and Ao3, but life caught up once exams ended and I was in a deep, dark place for sometime. But not to worry, because I'm definitely better now, and finally got over my writer's block/unmotivation (if that's a word) and what better way to start off writing again if not with a Hinny fic?
As usual, I hope you enjoy this sort of non-magic alternate universe, maybe a modern meet-cute of sorts? From the one and only Ginny Weasley's perspective, of course.
Again, you can find my Ao3 right here where I post quite fluffy Wolfstar one shots!
----
The summer was harsh in Cornwall, which was where Ginny's family home was situated. She went up to university in London, just having recently finished her second year in Drama. Last summer, she was on a long trip with her best friend Luna, and hadn't been able to make it down to be with her family. But this year, she fully intended to spend as much time as possible with them, even if her older twin brothers were being annoying arses.
"Fred, George, just wipe the bloody tables already!" She screamed, exasperated, even though the twins were not even 20 feet away. The only unique cafe-by-day/restaurant-by-night was owned by Ginny's family. It was a quaint place, serving the best coffee to tourists and locals alike, along with not such a sharply contrasted cosy restaurant theme the place adopted when the sun went down.
And currently, the cafe was a few hours away from opening as a restaurant, and was left in the care of Ginny and her older twin brothers. She had another older brother after the twins, but he was off with his university friends (being an year older) and had even MORE older brothers ranked above the twins. Her oldest brother Bill, worked as a vet in New York, also where the second brother Charlie worked as an art curator. The third brother Percy was currently obtaining his PhD in some sort of Math which Ginny was too 'humanities' to understand (in Percy's own words, that subject bigot). The brothers after Percy, twins Fred and George were as stated, being annoying prats but worked in some sort of prank shop, much to their mother and Percy's chagrin (Between us and her, Ginny never understood why Percy felt a need to voice this opinion, because if Ginny also opened her mouth to provide an opinion on every single thing under the sun, working in a prank shop was perfectly acceptable).
Finally the last brother Ron went to university in Devon, having recently finished his degree in Astronomy combined with Philosophy, and that was it. Growing up with 6 older brothers, Ginny was significantly hot tempered, a trait often made fun of because of her (and her whole family's) flaming red hair.
"Oh for God's sake the two of you, just shut up if you don't want to do any work!" She finally snapped, causing two identical pairs of brownish eyes to look at her.
"Okay!" They smirked, before actually rushing away to the back of the cafe. Ginny sighed, wondering for the tenth time that afternoon why she bothered to come down here in summer. The twins, despite being her favourite, were useless gits-
"Ginny! Where are Fred and George?" Her mother's voice flew out from the front of the store, removing Ginny from her trail of thoughts, where Molly stood with hands laden with grocery bags. Her father, Arthur, she saw outside from the huge floor to ceiling windows, was unloading the boot of their car of more paper bags.
"They ran away after being absolutely useless gits." She muttered angrily, almost aggressively wiping a glass and placing it on the shelves behind her.
Her mother let out a long suffering sigh, but nevertheless joined Ginny in tidying up the cafe. "They're quite irresponsible." Molly sighed, wiping down tables at a superhuman speed.
"Mum if it's okay, can I join Ron and his friends at the party happening down at the beach?" Ginny asked apprehensively. The question had been burning at the back of her mind since the morning when Ron actually invited her to the beach party being thrown by one of the local boys. He had brought his uni friends and girlfriend down from Devon, and Ginny had already met Hermione, Ron's soulmate, if their behaviour was anything to go by.
Being in an all girls school, Ginny practically grew up with her girlfriends gushing about boys and celebrities, often almost swooning like some Victorian women when boys from the neighbouring school passed by their grounds.
However, Ginny was smart- if having six brothers had taught her anything, it was that boys were annoying, and only a few handful of them were actually decent. But now, looking at how close Ron and Hermione were, Ginny was starting to long for her own sort of romance. It had been over a year since she broke up with her first and only boyfriend Dean. She was convinced the breakup had solidified her stance on relationships, which was that relationships were okay but there was no need to actively look for one. Ron and Hermione's lovey dovey-ness was revolting, but uncharacteristically had Ginny pining away for her love story as well. Not that she'd ever admit it, of course.
"Well there's nothing really to do, and if it's busy there's a lot of pairs of hands to help. So sure, go on." Molly finally said and Ginny could almost fist pump, if it wasn't for the wet rag she was holding.
The evening rolled around quicker than Ginny anticipated, and before she knew it, her and Hermione stood in Ginny's small attic bedroom, getting ready for the party. "So, tell me, how was Dean?" Hermione asked, looking behind at Ginny through the mirror, where the younger girl stood blinking away extra mascara.
"Oh well, he was alright. Nothing like fireworks or sparkle." Ginny flushed slightly as she processed her own words. Oh, how she sounded like a lovestruck 12 year old.
However, Hermione didn't seem to mind. She simply grinned. "I'm sure with the right person it's more than just sparkles and fireworks." Hermione winked, and Ginny wondered if there was more to the statement than she understood. However, Hermione was already done with the topic, now going on about her course and what plans Ginny had for after university.
They walked downstairs, finding Ron standing at the door, his eyes glued to Hermione as she walked down the stairs. To be fair, Hermione definitely looked stunning- even if it was for a casual beach party. Ginny noted slightly bitterly to herself how the simplest pair of jeans and top could make one gorgeous to the right eyes. She breathed deeply as Ron wrapped an arm around his girlfriend, the girlfriend in question smirking back at Ginny as she followed them. Okay, very confusing.
The walk to the beach from the cafe was short, and there was already a bonfire going in the distance, with some upbeat song playing from someone's phone. "So, where is Harry and everyone else?" Hermione asked, looking around. Ron still had a hand in Hermione's as the two of them looked around for who had to be Ron's friends. "Neville!" Ron suddenly yelled good naturedly, as a tall guy walked towards the three of them with a big grin on his face.
"Ron! Hermione!" Neville hugged each of them in turn, smiling broadly at Ginny.
"Neville, this is my younger sister Ginny. Ginny, that's one of our friends from uni, Neville." Ron introduced. Ginny waved, which was returned by Neville.
"Is your girlfriend here as well?" Hermione asked, to which Ron added, "Oh, do we finally get to meet the elusive To-Be-Mrs. Longbottom?"
Perhaps having noticed Ginny's confusion, Neville clarified. "These two here haven't had the chance to meet my girlfriend- well, fiance as of a week, yet. In answer to your question Ron, no, she unfortunately couldn't make it. But she's been inviting the two of you over for dinner since ages." He turned to Ron.
"Actually yeah, we should definitely go. Anybody seen Harry?" Ron asked, looking around the small crowd of people. Ginny moved away from the couple to sit next to the fire, and grab a cold beer in the process.
She had just made herself comfortable slightly away from the warm fire when a figure sat down next to her, causing shivers to go up her left side. "Hi, you must be Ginny." The figure spoke and Ginny looked to the source of the voice, to be met by the unruliest mop of black hair she had ever seen on a human, and twinkling green eyes. In the soft light from the fire, they glowed slightly amber.
"I am. But I don't think I've met you?"
Ginny didn't get an answer because Ron's voice interrupted them. "Harry, you came!" He shouted, the figure (Harry) getting up to tackle Ron in a hug.
"Of course I did, getting sloshed at your best mate's beach party is always infinitely better than home." Harry grinned, and Ginny started to feel her heart race.
"I see you've met Ginny." Ron said, sitting down in between her and Harry.
"I just did, yeah." Harry smiled mischievously. They had moved closer to the fire, and in the brighter light, Harry's face was more distinct. And boy was he fit. The hair, even though messy, was not unattractive (quite the opposite), and his face was slightly round, made rounder by the permanent grin which seemed to reside there. And his eyes were covered by round glasses, reflecting off the orange from the fire.
"Well anyway, Gin, this is Harry, my best mate from university. He just made it down here to Cornwall." Ron said, and suddenly got up to fetch more drinks, but Ginny didn't miss the glares Hermione was shooting Ron from across the fire.
"Do you reckon we go a bit further away?" Ginny, being so busy interpreting the look Hermione was giving Ron, hadn't noticed the boy had shifted closer to her.
"Uh, sure." She found herself slightly tongue tied, staring into green amber.
"Brilliant, Let's go?" Harry got up, and lent Ginny a hand. She took it, and a slight warmth, probably not from the fire, ran down her spine when their hands remained connected.
They walked away from the party, not too far that a search team would be required, but just far enough to hold a conversation in peace. The music slightly played in the background, a slower guitar theme, and Ginny turned around to see Ron and Hermione swaying around the fire, the brightest smile settled on both their faces. Ginny simply let out a happy sigh, attention darting down to entwined hands.
"So, Ron tells me you're in drama?" He asked, as they sat down near the water with their legs bent, just that the waves touched their toes and washed back.
"Yes, I am, final year now. Although I haven't heard a lot about you?" Ginny teased. Harry simply chuckled, a sound she realised she found much more attractive than she should have.
"Well it's a shame since I am his best mate but, Harry Potter, third year medic, at your service." He lightly bowed his head, eliciting a giggle out of the girl.
"Medicine huh, that definitely sounds hectic." She commented, as her fingers drew an absent minded pattern in the sand separating their sitting figures.
"I also captain the football team." He replied, eyes shining with humor. Ginny looked up, wondering if it was a coincidence that the man she found extremely fit also checked off all her criterion of 'boyfriend'.
"Oh- well I don't know how you found the time to be here, what with studying and football." Ginny smiled. Harry looked back at her, eyes boring into her brown ones. "Only because I was told someone stunning was going to be here." He said in a lower voice. Ginny flushed under the stare.
"I'm sure having those feelings for your best mate's girlfriend is not a good idea." She teased, feeling some confidence seeping into her. Harry scooted closer, placing a hand on Ginny's.
"And what if I said they weren't for the girlfriend, but for the sister?" His eyes darted down to her lips, her own pulse quickening. Then continuing with her sudden confidence, she unconsciously leaned in, her lips just millimeters away from Harry's. "The sister would definitely like that because she thinks you're extremely fit too." Ginny whispered, her lips just brushing against Harry's before he closed the distance completely.
The two of them sat there, away from the party, lips moving in slow sync as if they were doing the communicating. Getting to know each other in silent movements, a dance of attraction and dominance. Thee music faded in the background, as behind her closed eyes Ginny saw stars, and faintly made out the sound of fireworks exploding behind them. Not that she'd admit it to anyone, of course.
But in that moment, it was just her, Harry and the cool water playing with their feet. And when they finally pulled apart, Ginny secretly swore that she saw her reflection in green pools glow and sparkle.
Not that she'd ever admit it, obviously.

Cloud: wait Gladio fought him
Gladio: yup and also his pet also... seems the big guy really loves to fight on bridges
Jared: according to legend its considered tradition for him... huhn that explains why when I dueled Stupid Mario at the time thats also a bridge over some lava and etc
Merrick: and its also a wonder why we sometimes tell ya it was from too much video games that has him in it

Jennifer The Fox: uhm about that... he's already dead.. ^^ Misha took him out
Misha: .w. turned out it was the jackhole who participated the fall of my family's clan go figure
Roberto: ahh I thought so hence reason the streets near the coffee shop is quiet a lot now and also explains why my grandfather placed a memoriam shrine to honor them as their best customers...
Jennifer The Fox: is he still around
Roberto: ^^ as a matter of fact he is yes he's the one who got me to be who I am today on as I took of his job as he is retired now and still strong as an ox
Jennifer: ^^ can ya tell him I said hello and well... also thank you for doing the memorium shrines for them...
Roberto: ^^ i'll make sure to do that count on it
Suzuki: one more thing whos is gonna maintain the restaurants while ya away on bodyguard duty
Eos The Floofyshark: ^^ I can answer that... ^^ you see two metabots requested by Roberto will take over for a bit until october who also happens to make sure Claretta remains calm as those two happens to be her Metabots to protect her while Yuri is away
Roberto: ^^ yes that would be Foxsword and Foxuno they seem to have a nack of maintaining stuff besides what they do a lot at a delay basis they're gonna start doing my tasks sometime when Yuri begins her tour run and don't worry I already told Gramps on that detail already as he is aware that I am a sworn in Bodyguard for Yuri Niko during her tour he is actually proud of me after I told him
Eos The Floofyshark: ^^ mmhmm
Suzuki: ^^ good to know
Eos The Floofyshark: .w. they'll also make sure that SP Vector don't enter the building as they will use force if needed as a last resort
Roberto: oh ya and my grandfather knows about it too
Suzuki: thats good
Roberto: indeed
SP vector: -breaks through wall like the Kool-aid man- OH YA!!!
Roberto: ._.;;;;; SP Vector ya paying for the damage for that
SP Vector: .w. or else what
Shiro: .w. -gets out his desert eagle and shoots SP Vector in the balls- BLAM!!! SP Vector: OUGH!!! -on the floor- >< my overies

SP Vector: WHY DON'T YA SAY THAT TO MY FACE HOTSHOT!!! Raph: =w= oh its on...
Frenchie: 1 hour of pain later
SP Vector: -broken teeth and etc and in a dentist office- uggggh
TF2 Medic: :3 Next
SP Vector: AHHHHHHHHHH!!! -crashes through wall as he runs away-

Writing commission for @soulnottainted ! Thank you so much!!! I really hope you like it!! 💕💕
Sitting down with a sigh on the soft grass, the young woman closed her eyes, concentrating on the sounds of the vast nature that surrounded her. She had taken her drawing kit for the day, wanting to practice her art outside, rather than the warm and cosy inside of her home. It was sunny, and birds were chirping… For a moment it felt like a true lost paradise. Then, the tree besides her started to move slowly. The woman did not move, instead, she started sketching with a smile as the tree formed into a humanoid figure, made of woods, with a kind but stern face, red spitting fire as veins and blood and beautiful brown and amber eyes. It was taller than any house from the area, and looked very threatening to someone who didn’t know the creature. The woman didn’t fear him. How could she?
“Good afternoon, Yew.” She softly greeted, not glancing at him.
“Hello, young one.” He said, bowing his head a little. “What are you doing?”
“Drawing and painting, as usual.”
“You are right to do so. Art gives the ability to humans to show what they don’t see clearly. Some are so fogged into their dark views, and seeing a painting may open their minds." The giant tree explained.
Kelsey nodded as she listened, knowing how wise the being could be. She had grown up next to him, her parents telling her amazing stories about the tree that could take a human form, giving words of advice but also incredible tales for the people he chose.
People would find him terrifying, as he was so tall and had a deep voice. Also, he was not something you could observe any normal day. After what her parents recalled of him, Kelsey realised how much time the man tree spent with her. He always was present, like a grandparent figure to her and gave her sweet advice on how to handle life.
She cared a lot about him, and he was feeling the same way about her.
"What are you doing out there, didn’t you have your… exams to do?" Yew asked in a hesitant voice, trying to not make the young woman anxious.
"I finished them actually." She replied with a smile as she glanced at him. "I am drawing you."
"Are you?" He questioned, surprised. "Can I see?"
The young woman nodded and stood up with her artwork. She handed the piece of paper to small branches that grew out of Yew's body, and watched with amazement as the drawing made its way toward Yew's face. He was such a beautiful, tender, caring and intelligent being.
"I believe it is well made!" He exclaimed lovingly as he dropped the drawing back to its artist. "You always had so much talent, little one."
"Thank you! You pushed me to do the best, you know? I am glad you are here with me." She smiled again, rushing to hug him.
Well, hugs were something difficult to do with Yew. He could crush with so little efforts, but he always made sure to not hurt her during those sweet moments. He never had been close to anyone but her for a long time. Sometimes he had been lonely for years, without anyone to speak to!
But they found a way luckily. Yew would grow smaller branches, looking like arms, and Kelsey would hug him, feeling warm and bubbly as the tree branches touched her skin. She truly considered him like a grandfather, and always was fascinated by his stories. She regretted that sometimes, she was too caught up in her work and busy with life in general, she would leave him alone for some days. But, the young woman always came back to him, apologizing about it, and Yew didn’t seem to mind. He understood perfectly, always wishing her the best in life.
“Are you interested in a story, little one?” He asked. “One with a moral perhaps?”
“Oh yes! You know how much I love your stories!” The young woman replied, her eyes shining with excitement as she sat down on the grass.
The creature lowered his head too, his body cracking in multiple places, but he showed no sign of being hurt or being bothered by this. He thought for a few moments, closing his eyes to choose his next tale. Kelsey watched him patiently, but bearing a soft smile on her face. She was very interested with what the giant will share with her.
“There once was a lion, a mighty one, the king of all in the land. He was fierce, strong, powerful and everyone respected and feared him. As he was sleeping, a mouse had accidentally woken him up. The king was absolutely furious about this, ready to assassinate the one who had bothered him in his sleep. However, the mouse implored for his life, telling the lion that killing him would solve none of his problems, and that the mouse would be a pity prey to kill. The lion agreed with this, and released the young mouse.” Yew started. “Later, as he was roaming around his kingdom, the lion king fell into a trap: a solid net that he could not escape from. Feeling the poachers would come soon for him, and seeing he could not free himself from the trap, the lion roared, in hopes someone would realise he was in danger or needed help. It was indeed a lucky day for him! The mouse he had spared earlier came to save him! The little animal ate the net, and helped the lion out. As they escaped the poachers together, the lion thanked the mouse, and promised him to never hunt down one of the mice.” The tree being finished. “So, tell me, little one, what do you think the moral of the story is?”
“That poaching is bad?”
Yew laughed at that. It was certainly true, hunting animals for their furs, or killing them for sport, or to have trophies were horrible and bad. He wondered how some humans could do that.
"Non."
“Sparing someone is good because they can help you back?” Kelsey managed to reply, after thinking intensively.
“Not quite, but you got the spirit. Actually, you can give a story like this multiple meanings. If the lion didn’t spare the mouse, he would have been murdered by the hunters. Every little act of kindness like that can lead to something greater. At least, that is how I appreciate that story.”
“Also, small friends can be powerful allies!” The woman exclaimed. “So, Yew, am I your little mouse?” She chuckled.
“I believe you are, my little one.”
After that tale being told, Kelsey laid down next to the sitting giant, observing the sky. Finally, she was done with her mid terms. It was something that had bothered her, and she really hoped she did good! But with Yew, she felt her anxiety dying down. The tree giant emanated a kind and strange aura that always seemed to appease her, and anyone around. She didn’t know much of the giant’s story, only that he was there to help those that were, sort of, misguided by life. He would tell them tales, and ask for a story in return. He helped them realise something about their lives, and managed to turn whatever situation into a good one.
He never spoke of those cases. It was perhaps the reason why he was created. He didn’t know who did, and never intended to find out. He had helped so much people in the past, and sometimes would disappear for a little more than a week. In Kelsey’s eyes, he was a hero to help those poor unfortunate souls. Yew would argue that he had to do what he had to do. It was not like it was his choice, he was called by those people.
“Yew?”
The giant tree made a grunt in response, telling her he was awake and would listen to what she has to say.
“Did you sometimes fail at… saving people?” She asked carefully, not wanting to scare him off with her question.
He was silent for a moment, and the young woman feared she had hurt his feelings. She stayed quiet too, not wanting the situation to worsen.
“I did, in fact, fail. Sometimes… Sometimes you can’t always change people, or heal them. Of course, I never really pushed them to do the wrong thing… But…” He sighed. “But I wish that some cases wouldn’t have finished in the way they did. It is hard to watch those little humans, those complicated beasts, struggling to understand, and failing to do so. I wish I could have done more for some men and women. I have to admit, sometimes, I do feel like a puppet, and I want to be freed from my chains, to help them more. I always come back anyway to my principles.”
“I am sorry you feel that way, Yew.” The woman said, putting her soft hand on his wooden body. “You are nothing of a monster.” She chuckled, remembering how some would call her precious grandfather figure.
“I do not care about how they speak of me. I do like that nickname tho. It makes me feel… powerful, and bigger.”
The woman snorted at that. Her own father had known Yew since he was a young child, and would call him the Monster too, but in a more… loving way. When her father would tell her stories of how he used to sneak out to hear the giant tree’s tales, she only thought he had a huge imagination as a child, and here she was, befriending him and always seeking advice from him and his stories. She truly felt like Yew was her grandfather, and she believed he felt the same way about her.
The first time she met Yew, she was about the same age as her father. She was playing around the old and tall tree, then fell asleep and woke up to a giant man holding her in his hand carefully. She did not scream, because she immediately felt connected to him, and since this day, she made sure to visit him often.
“Can you tell me a story?” She asked Yew. “Can you… create a tale? Just for me?”
“Just for you?”
“Just for me.” The woman repeated.
“Alright… Once upon a time, there was a young girl with a creative mind. Some people would have expected her to be lonely, fearing that the other children would cast her out. But no, she became very popular in her school, as she was unique. The other children weren’t, and they celebrated her uniqueness with her. There was one boy, however, who didn’t celebrate with the others. He was just a regular boy, quite a strange one if you asked the older women who gossipped between themselves as they watched the children. The young girl saw how alone the boy seemed to be, and tried to approach him many times. The boy pushed her away each time.”
“That is sad and unfair. Why would the boy do that? She is just trying to befriend him!” The young woman said.
“Patience little one. You have asked for a tale, and here it is. The boy was lonely, and seemed to hate the other girl. The latter told him if he wished to be with her, then she would welcome him with open arms. At one point, she stopped seeing him and the boy realised that being alone was not something he wished. When the girl stopped coming for him, stopped talking to him, he felt like a hole had been opened, and he needed her to cure him. So, at the end of the day, he joined the others to celebrate her uniqueness with everyone else. He confessed to the girl that he missed her, and revealed that no one had been making him feel this way, because she had revealed his own uniqueness. They celebrated their new friendship quickly after that meeting.”
“It was a weak story... “ She chuckled. “But I like it. It was cute.” She yawned.
“Come child, you are tired. You have to rest.”
The young woman nodded, and slowly made her to the giant. He offered her his giant hand for bed as usual, and she laid down on it happily, knowing she was safe.
“Rest now, Kelsey.” Yew breathed out gently as he watched after her.

PLUS EST EN VOUS Review
(Over a week later, and I’m finally posting this. At least I don’t have to worry about another episode coming out before it’s posted.)
Okay - there’s a lot to cover, so without further ado...  Let’s get right into it, shall we?
Things I liked about the finale:
All of the beautiful Cass / Rapunzel scenes!
Tumblr media
They were so emotional and beautifully done, it felt like everything that needed to be said was said, and seeing them act like friends again was very cathartic for me. In a lot of ways, Cass & Raps’ relationship reminds me of some of my own (old ones that didn’t end so smoothly, and then newer ones that I can already tell will leave a lasting impression on my life) and seeing them reconcile and talk about how much they meant to each other really warmed my heart. A best friend is an irreplaceable thing, and I love that their interactions showed that. I also really appreciated the “I love you”s, because the world needs more of those between friends. And it also reminded me of Eugene saying the same thing to Lance, in Beyond the Corona Walls.
The awesome Team Awesome content!  There was an abundance of it in this episode, and I loved every second of it! Truth be told, I was never a big “Team Awesome” fan until S3 came around. The relationship always felt a tad too one-sided to me, and I just couldn’t see them being particularly close, at least not as close as Varian and Rapunzel. The fandom helped me warm up to the idea a little bit, but this past season definitely sold it for me. Eugene has really matured and become a lot less self-involved since the first time they met. I absolutely love that he’s turned into sort of a cool older brother figure to Varian (in fact, many of their interactions are reminiscent of moments I’ve shared with my own brother) and Var now looks up to him rather than just the “Flynn Rider” persona. The fact that Eugene could tease him about his past mistakes and Varian just turned around and casually joked right back? That made my heart happy.
Speaking of maturing & happy hearts -
I’M SO PROUD OF THIS BOY!!!
Tumblr media
I know I say that a lot, but He’s just come so far since S1, or even the beginning of S3! There were a ton of little moments showcasing his growth in this episode. Such as:  - Jumping onto the piano to help Raps rally the troops (did anybody think we were going to get pianist Varian? I sure didn’t, but I’m not complaining.) - Stating with certainty that he can rebuild Demanitus’ portal, before even seeing the schematics, and just overall showing more confidence in his abilities. (Quirin looked so proud when he was building the portal...you know, before going  all mind-slave and trying to pull the lever.) - Being the first - the FIRST - of the gang to walk into Demanitus’ tomb. This may seem small, but it was such a 180 from Be Very Afraid, where he was nervous and trailing behind Raps the entire time. Now he’s not only joining in on the adventure, he’s taking the lead on occasion! - Rigging Quirin’s helmet with a temporary stun mechanism as a fail-safe for the mind-trap. He seemed hurt and offended when Eugene initially brought up the possibility of his dad being a double-agent, but even so, he listened. He put common sense and the safety of others before his own feelings, and that’s not an easy thing to do.  - Firing an explosive concoction straight into the face of an enormous demon monster??? I mean,...heck yeah, boy!! Also - using his past mistakes (i.e. the amber and monster!Ruddiger) and repurposing them towards something good. I could go on, but you get the idea. he’s just come so far and I could not be more proud of his development. And the fact that he went on to become Corona’s Royal Alchemist Engineer was just the cherry on top! YOU DESERVE IT, BOY!!! 👏👏👏
You know who else I’m proud of? Rapunzel. She was never my favorite character in the series (despite being the protagonist,) but this story - and this past season in particular - has really endeared me to her. She’s grown so much, she’s become a strong and wise leader, and I’m proud of her for it. Honestly, I’ve related to her far more this past season than any other. And I don’t know if that’s because she’s older and more mature now, or because her naivete and eager-to-please attitude is all but gone, or because she just felt a lot more real and vulnerable in recent episodes - but I really, truly love her. And I’m happy to see her story reach its completion. (Also - long-haired brunette Raps is my new favorite thing, tbh.)
THIS:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
‘Nough said, I think.
The epic new powers and abilities (and return of some old ones)!!! There were so many moments while watching the finale where I was literally just yelling at my sister like “wHOA, DID YOU SEE THAT?! THAT WAS AWESOME!!!” I had no idea that Cass could make ANIMATED WOLF HEADS of the black rocks, that completely blew me away! And then there were those golden rocks that Zhan Tiri manifested, that was so cool! I wonder if the sundrop alone could make those appear, or if you had to have both of the elements to make it work. Also - the Healing Incantation was finally brought back! I knew it would be, eventually, but I’d almost completely forgotten that was a plot point by the time the finale came around. It was good to hear Mandy’s voice saying those familiar, nostalgic words again. And she put so much emotion into it!
Now, onto the less fun stuff...
Things I disliked about the finale:
(Feel free to skip over this section if you’d rather just focus on the positives, I fully understand. I’ll do my best to be fair and only address the things that really stood out to me.)
This subplot went on for far too long:
Tumblr media
It was pretty funny for the first few minutes (and I’m sure the animators loved getting to go crazy with the characters’ designs like this,) but after awhile, I was like “is this really what we want over half of our cast to be doing during the BIG FINALE?” I mean, we already had the monkey gag, which I actually thought was a riot. And this one came right in the middle of a pretty climactic moment, so it just seemed kind of out of place.  I’ll admit, the snake-hair joke and Lance’s multiple eyes had me rolling, but ultimately, I just felt like this whole bit only served to waste limited time that definitely could have been better utilized.
The portal was too quickly demolished.  They could have at least come close to a success with it before it was destroyed, so that it didn’t feel completely useless! I get that they wanted ZT to be defeated by her own power, and I’m down for that, but if the portal’s sole purpose within the story was just to temporarily remove all the secondary characters in limbo so that the mains could do their thing, I can’t really get behind it.  Especially seeing as their only Plan B was “throw things at the giant all-powerful octopus monster,” come on, guys. I would have preferred that be a last-resort after several failed attempts at other pre-orchestrated plans. They could have had Varian and Quirin working on repairing the portal while the others distract/attack Zhan Tiri and THEN have her destroy it (purposefully, rather than by some random falling rock.) Or, maybe everyone could have been in on the plan to get the sundrop and moonstone to meet, and then have Raps and Cass are the ones who finally succeed in doing it. I don’t know, I just feel like there was a lot of wasted potential there.
This scene:
Tumblr media
I’m going to be perfectly honest, this scene bothered me. For a multitude of reasons:
Firstly; it was a shot-for-shot copy (not a parallel, a copy) of the iconic New Dream moment from the movie, just replacing Eugene with Cass. That wasn't necessary, Cass and Raps have their own unique relationship and their own moments, they don’t need to steal Raps & Eugene’s. This should have remained a New Dream-only thing, in my opinion. (Especially seeing as her parents already stole their gondola bit...I’m mostly joking about that one.)
Secondly; it didn’t make sense? Rapunzel was standing just as close to the blast as Cassandra, yet she wasn’t harmed at all. In fact, she seemed completely unfazed by it. Why was Cass the only one effected? (And we can’t even make an argument that the moonstone shard protected her, because the powers were lost the moment the two fused.) If they needed a brush-with-death scene, why not have ZT hurt Cass? I feel like that would have been a lot more dramatic, especially after manipulating her for an entire season.
And finally; it made every other character’s “death” seem unimportant in comparison. I get that the writers needed Raps to use the Healing Incantation, but, EVERYBODY ELSE WAS ALREADY HALF-DEAD, AT THIS POINT. I’m sorry, but, why wasn’t that incentive enough to use the healing power? Why did we need to have Cass’s near-death on top of everybody else’s?  I mean, I would’ve been maybe a little bit more okay with it had Rapunzel mourned everybody’s death and not just Cass’s, and then used the power to save ALL of them at once. But instead, she completely forgot about everyone else until the very last second, which was frustrating. I’m not a fan of plot devices that ignore other characters, especially when the protagonist is supposed to care about them but then just doesn’t even seem to remember that they exist for a hot minute. This felt like the ending of Freebird, only worse because you can’t make the excuse that she was unaware. (Just to be clear, I’m not blaming Rapunzel. I know it wasn’t meant to come across that way, I just feel like it was not well executed.) There are a lot of ways that this could have been done differently. Rapunzel and Cass could have BOTH been devastated about their friends/loved ones, I would have loved to see Cass show genuine concern and remorse towards the OTHER people whom her actions hurt, not just Raps. Or, Rapunzel could have at least landed near Cass so it would’ve made sense for her to notice her first, and then looked around and noticed everybody else before using the healing incantation. At least that way, the other characters wouldn’t have felt so much like a second-thought. I don’t know, I just didn’t appreciate the treatment of the supporting cast in this scene at all. It felt like they were forgotten right up until the very last second.
Cass didn’t get to sing in any of the songs.  I was really surprised by this, I figured given how important her role had become, she’d get to sing at least one line (like Lance and Varian did.) But nope. Actually, a good 90% of the music in this episode was sung by Raps, and as much as I love the songs & Mandy’s beautiful voice, I was hoping for the other characters to be a little bit more involved. Especially in the Life After Happily Ever After (Reprise), that would have been a great opportunity to have everybody sing together.
Things I would have liked to see in the finale:
More information about Demanitus and ZT.  We got so little! I was expecting this episode to answer all of our questions about that two, but I still have no idea; what their relationship was, where Zhan Tiri came from, why exactly she wanted the power (besides just to have it for herself, I guess), or how they came across the SD and MS in the first place! Like, just a little bit more information would have been nice, the only thing the flashback really gave us was what ZT looked like before spending a few millenia in limbo. (Also - apparently Corona is several thousand years old??? Which, I didn’t know, I was under the impression that it was a fairly new kingdom.)
Closure for this relationship:
Tumblr media
This is probably what I was most disappointed by. Honestly, I’m still kind of surprised that this didn’t happen, even just a little bit. Given that Cass was wearing the Cassandrium at the end, we can safely assume that they at least parted on good terms. But the last few exchanges that they had really gave me the impression that we’d be getting some kind of closure before the credits rolled. We were given two whole episodes focusing on the unique bond that these two share (that’s more than we were given for Cass & Eugene,) they were painted as parallels, so it only makes sense to give them a proper wrap-up. In CR, Cass seemed hurt and devastated after realizing that she’d effectively pushed Varian away, it’s clear his friendship meant a lot to her. Not to mention, Var had the best understanding of Cass’s feelings, he could relate to her - especially about her guilt and fear of not being forgiven. But despite all of the build-up & foreshadowing, they didn’t even get an on-screen goodbye? Not a single “thank you” or “I’m sorry”?  I realize that the main focus was always on Cass & Raps’ friendship, and I’m totally fine with that. I’m just saying that after all the obvious parallels and time invested in this relationship, it would have been nice to get some closure. I just wish they’d included at least one little dialogue exchange to wrap it up in a satisfactory way, like we got with Cass and Eugene.
Actual pay-off for all the Varian - Demanitus parallels.  I think we can all agree that this seemed like it was going somewhere, and then it just...didn’t. He did rebuild the portal, but it turned out to be useless, and outside of that, the similarity was never touched upon. Not by Rapunzel, or Zhan Tiri, not even Xavier made the connection. I mean - this kid is doing at 15/16 what Demanitus did in the latter half of his life. He’s not only following the legendary engineer/inventor’s footsteps, he’s expanding the legacy. If that’s not foreshadowing for something, I don’t know what is! And I do love the fact that he became the Royal Alchemist Engineer, but at the same time, I just feel like there was so much wasted potential in this almost-but-not-quite-subplot.
An actual Brotherhood reunion, without all the mind-trap influence.  It would have been so interesting to see them all interacting! I was surprised that, even though Edmund and Quirin were both in the same place for most of the episode, they never really interacted? Outside of mind-controlled Quirin, Hector, and Adira attacking Eugene &  Edmund, they didn’t exchange so much as a word. And I get that a lot of that was time restraints, and having to focus on more important plot points (as Edmund said “bigger fish”) but honestly, if they had time to thrown in all that netherworld nonsense, a little Brotherhood interaction doesn’t seem like too big of a favor to ask.
Rapid-fire Opinions:
Favorite song: Through it All
Tumblr media
In my opinion, this song is the best group number in the show (not counting the ones only sung by main 3, such With You By My Side or Next Stop Anywhere) It’s not quite as epic as Ready As I’ll Ever Be, but it has an infectious beat and a triumphant melody that I really enjoy. Also, the scene as a whole was so cheerful and fun, and we got Varian, Lance, Kiera, and Catalina all playing various instruments! (Plus more New Dream dancing! ❤ )
Favorite callback to a previous episode: Easy answer, because it comes from (what is still) one of my favorite episodes in the series - the Cassandrium.
Tumblr media
Favorite scene: This one’s a little tough, but I did really enjoy the little moment that Eugene and Varian had after Quirin was incapacitated by the helmet.
Tumblr media
I also loved the final scene where Cass said goodbye to Rapunzel and they gave each other the biggest, warmest hug I’ve ever seen in animation history (and the prior exchange between her and Eugene was really sweet, as well.)
OH! And how could I forget? That beautiful New Dream proposal. 💜 That was absolutely perfect. The animation, the music, Mandy & Zach’s incredibly heartfelt voice work, just...I loved everything about it.
Tumblr media
Most underrated moment: Catalina pushing Kiera out of Zhan Tiri’s way and getting grabbed herself. (Show of hands, who else briefly forgot that she was a werewolf and had a small heart-attack in that moment?)
Theories I had that were proven true:
- Cass leaving Corona to “find her own destiny.”  I’d always felt like Cass never really had a dream of her own; she didn’t know who she was, and she was never going to get the answers by staying by Rapunzel’s side. So I had a strong feeling that she would be leaving, but I’m glad to see that it was on good terms.
Tumblr media
- Everyone vs Zhan Tiri.  Granted, like most people, I was under the impression that Xavier’s “magic and alchemy” statement would be more...relevant? Turns out, we read into that way too much. Which, honestly, is a tiny bit disappointing, but it was still cool to finally see Zhan Tiri at her most powerful.
- Varian becoming Corona’s Royal Alchemist Engineer.  This is a theory I’ve had since my early days in the fandom, and I’m glad to see it finally confirmed! My only complaint is that we didn’t get to see Rapunzel bestow the honor upon him, because I would have loved to see that exchange.
Theories that were not proven true, but I still believe:
- Varian (and possibly Quirin) being a descendant of Demanitus.  You can pry this one out of my cold, dead hands, there are way too many clues pointing to it. I’m not even sure if Demanitus has any descendants (again, we have very little information on him still) but if he does, Varian’s a prime candidate. His lineage comes from the Dark Kingdom, he’s a genius alchemist/inventor, has a personal connection to both the Sundrop and the Moonstone; honestly, I’m kind of surprised this possibility was never even considered, at least one, in canon.
- Cass will eventually return to Corona.  I have no idea when, why, or how, but I truly believe she will. Her spirit may be roaming free at the moment, but the heart always returns home. And - as it stands right now, at least - her heart is still waiting in Corona. In the meantime, though, I’m glad she’s living her best life, seeking out adventure wherever destiny leads her! She deserves it <3
Tumblr media
Well, that’s my full Plus Est En Vous/Tangled the Series Finale review! I’d love to hear everybody else’s thoughts on the final episode, as well; how many people were satisfied vs unsatisfied with the ending? What were everyone else’s favorite moments, what else would have been nice to see? Let me know!
Final words: This show and this fandom have meant so much to me, and I’m far from done loving it. I still have many projects in the works to celebrate the show and its completion, but in the meantime - thanks for reading.
And God bless the amazing team that came together to bring us this incredibly beautiful, meaningful, story which will always have a special place in my heart.

stay wild at heart / know the end is near
A/N: After watching the finale, I felt that Sarah hesitated when Tally offered herself as as Biddy because she didn't want Tally to have to make that sacrifice. This drabble sort of explores that, and explores this new connection that the two of them share as they both navigate their mutual grief after they return to Fort Salem. So much is still unknown about Sarah and the Biddies and the nature of their linking, so a lot of this is just my interpretation of it! I can't claim credit for the idea of a whiskey cellar on base: that goes completely to the incomparable Lyne Renee, who mentioned it as a personal headcanon in a Q&A on Tumblr! I loved the idea so much that it was partly what inspired me to write this fic. Title is from the song "WLCM" by Lydia Ainsworth.
When you arrive back at base, tired and tattered and full up of nothingness, you and the others follow Tally to her old room and watch her collect her things.
It feels eerily like a funeral; and in a way, it is.
This is the death of Tally Craven.
It’s one you’ve witnessed hundreds of times, in hundreds of haunted faces just like hers. Some were called happily, like Devon. Some were called in the desperation of battle, like Tally. But they were all the same to you -- all daughters whose lives were cut unforgivably short for the sole purpose of extending yours. The life that you were only living, now, to serve this great nation that was equal parts eager and unwilling to let you go. You’ve borrowed more lifetimes than you can remember and it never gets any easier, adding to your own personal death count in the service of this country that only allows you and your kind to exist within the confines of the military. This country that still, after all these centuries, seeks to control you, to use you, to mold and shape and brand you into the face of all its victories and all its failures (anyone who looks at you and sees a choice made willingly three hundred years ago isn’t paying close enough attention). You’ve forgotten how it must feel to have a life with any sort of meaning -- a life that means anything at all beyond what it can provide for America, for the world at large. Whether as a hero or as someone to blame.
But this kind of thinking leads to despair, and despair is not a thing that you are allowed to feel. It comes to you, always, when you accept a new Biddy into the fold: and, always, you swallow it whole before it can swallow you.
“I want to be alone right now,” Tally tells you, and the broken desperation in the sound of her voice (as familiar to you as it is forbidden) is enough to remind you of where you are, what is expected of you, and what duty Tally will soon learn she now must share with you and with the others for the rest of her life.
“There is no ‘alone’ anymore, Craven,” you respond quietly. You feel the heaviness in the truth of those words now more than ever as the faces of the Camarilla appear in your mind, the profane storms they sang into being, the nightmarish weapons they unleashed to announce their unthinkable return.
You should have seen it coming. They’d been the only constant in your life since you were a child and you were arrogant to assume you’d ever be rid of them (you wonder if one could ever exist without the other -- the hunter and the hunted, the power and the powerless). That arrogance had cost you more than just your own pride, but regret was too powerful an emotion to allow yourself to feel now. You siphon it away along with the despair, the emptiness, the nothingness, the numbness coming off Tally in waves, refusing to allow it to take root in the bottom of your gut. Refusing to feel, always. Always.
Tally is silent and sedate, weighted and slowed by the sudden and unexpected burden of your years, which makes it easier to catch her gaze fixed on the quilt draped over Private Collar’s bed. A flash of something like anger, something like pity, whistles through you, and for a moment you’re unsure if it’s hers or yours.
“What will happen to their things?” Tally asks you, and it’s the first time she’s looked you in the eye for hours. “I would take this, but I don’t imagine it will pass inspection where I’m going,” she adds, ruefully.
“It shouldn’t have passed inspection here,” you tell her, matter-of-factly. It’s presence in this room is a side-effect of Anacostia’s blind eye, undoubtedly. “Any possessions left behind by Private Bellweather or Private Collar will be returned to their families. If,” you begin after a pause, a little softer, “there is something particular that you would like to take with you, I will not object. Especially something that should have been disposed of during inspection.” Before Tally can thank you, you add, “But there is a place for such things, and it will not be in your new suite. Come.”
She follows you wordlessly out of the room and you can feel her confusion as if it were your own. You ignore it. You’re uncertain why you even offered this in the first place. Perhaps it’s because it’s the right thing to do, as Anacostia might say -- perhaps Tally’s sacrifice to you warrants a sacrifice of your own in kind. Or perhaps it is an unwelcome side-effect of the weakness you always feel when your lives are passed between daughters, made even more acute by the particular poignancy of Tally’s unique sacrifice (one made with more honor than you would have ever dreamt a cadet capable of).
The walk to the edge of Fort Salem is a slow and silent one, but one you’ve been making for hundreds of years to this very particular spot, tucked away behind a hill. You lead Tally and the others round to the other side of the incline where a pair of worn, wooden doors sits almost hidden in the overgrowth of grass and ivy. When you turn to your daughters they understand that all but you and Tally must remain outside (a distant mirroring of a similar scene some fifteen years ago when you brought Anacostia here for the first time -- another consequence of unwanted sentimentality).
“What is this?” Tally asks, disbelief etched into her face as the doors shut behind the two of you and you are alone in the dimness of the cellar. “This has been here the whole time?”
“A hobby of mine,” you confess, nodding at the rows and rows of kegs revealed in the muted lighting, stacked carefully against cobblestone walls that you laid yourself -- stone by stone -- over two hundred years ago. “I’ve been known to espouse the belief that whiskey is the one thing civilians got right.” You watch Tally as she takes in the scene unfolding around her, connecting dots that she never even knew were there. “Of course, I made it better,” you cannot stop yourself from adding, the barest suggestion of humor touching your tone. “Some might say.”
“You come here to drink?” Tally asks and accuses at the same time, clutching Collar’s blanket like a Cession churchgoer might clutch a string of pearls.
“To drink,” you concede, glancing purposefully at the blanket, “and to feel.”
Tally begins to crumble as she understands what exactly it is you are giving her -- sharing with her -- and the moisture shining in her eyes has as much to do with grief as it does gratitude. The link between you vibrates with the force of it and you find that moisture gathering at the corners of your own eyes as a result. You would normally blink it away but here, in this place, you allow yourself the privilege of feeling its presence.
“My daughters exercise control over their emotions. Master them, just as I have. Just as you will,” you tell her, not ungently. “But this place is sacred. This place does not have the watchful eyes of our sisters, nor the expectations of our country. Here,” you begin, reaching for two glasses from a cabinet carved into the wall, “we are who we are, without the pressure of who we have to be.”
Tally is soundless as she watches you fill the glasses with the sparkling amber liquid. When you offer her a glass she takes it slowly, reluctant to let go of Collar’s blanket even with just one hand.
“To honor,” you say, proposing a toast. “To duty. To sacrifice.”
“To wasted potential,” Tally adds, bitterly, and you feel that fire igniting within her again because it ignites within you, now, too.
“To wasted potential,” you echo, darkly, and drink.
When both your glasses are drained, you lead Tally through the maze of kegs to an aged door at the farthest corner of the cellar. “The others have seen this place in the shared space of our minds, but none have entered.” You tell her this because you want her to understand your sacrifice. You want her to understand this piece of privacy that none -- not even Anacostia -- have been invited to share. Tally Craven has placed an incredible amount of trust in you in an act of ultimate selflessness and bravery and it is your heart (ancient and broken and held together by obligation as it is) that tells you that she is the only witch worthy of an offering in return.
(You owe her nothing, you remind yourself: even as you feel the untruth in it, even as you open the door.)
It is a small and dusty room with a wooden table and chair positioned at its center. There are boxes and weapons and articles of clothing neatly lining the room’s perimeter, but Tally’s attention is immediately called to the table. On the table is a box, and in the box is, “All that is left of my sister,” you supply for Tally, her power of Knowing all but erased when her identity was partially absorbed into you (wasted potential, the memory of her toast echoes unbidden through your mind). “The only thing they couldn’t burn.”
Tally enters the room with a silent reverence, the tears carving paths down her pallid cheeks a mixture of hers and your own. “I see it,” she tells you, delicately. “Somehow, I see it.” A pentagram necklace, one that, thanks to the link between your minds, Tally can see -- can feel. You stand motionlessly as she draws nearer to you, as the memories continue to unfold one after another and she’s saying, “There are other things here. Other tokens. This is -- ” she falters, looks up at you, “ -- this is how you keep them alive. Everyone. Everyone that you’ve lost over the centuries. It’s a graveyard. No, no,” she stops, correcting herself, “it’s a memorial.”
“It is both,” you confirm. “It is also the safest place for the token that you carry. I cannot promise that you will be given access to this room again, but you can rest assured that here, not only will it be safe,” you promise her, solemnly, “it will also be in the most hallowed company.”
“You’ve lost everyone,” Tally whispers. “I can see them all, feel them all. How do you do it? How do you -- how do you make it go away? How do you -- stop feeling it?”
“You don’t,” you tell her, without hesitation. “You feel it and you turn those feelings into actions, and you turn those actions into honor. And you make damn sure,” you say, with a sudden, fierce intensity, “that you are worthy of carrying that honor in their name. Always.”
Tally’s eyes shine with a renewal of purpose at the mention of honor (just as you knew they would) and she hands you the quilt, nodding her consent for you to find a place for it within the room. “Thank you,” she murmurs, “for showing me how to keep her memory safe.”
“Thank you,” you answer, “for your sacrifice.”
“It is my honor.”
“No,” you correct, “it is mine.”
It will be a new challenge, you realize, and perhaps your greatest yet. One that you will face for the rest of your life.
To be worthy of that honor.
To be worthy of Tally Craven’s sacrifice.

Name: Nox Hethaway Age: 25 (May 5th 1995) Immortal - Stopped aging at 21 Nickname: Nox Gender: Female Sexuality: Straight Height: 5ft'4 Race: Demon/Succubus Ethnicity: British Looks: Short, messy raven hair falling into her right eye, Nox had the unique gift of having intense violet eyes that seemed to slightly shift in colour like the shimmering of liquid gold. The raven female mainly wears black, with articles of purple to accent her look. Whether it's a waterfall black cardigan with a purple tank top underneath which tends to be her signature look, or perhaps a purple plaid shirt, it seems that she truly favours darker shades of the spectrum that make up her 'aesthetic'. She might be seen wearing little red accents, due to her little crush for the colour.A purple, four leaf clover necklace hangs from her neck at all times, quite the important keepsake that she made with her own hands, and she has one ear pierced with a silver four leaf clover. Has the looks of a 21 year old. Key Personality Characteristics: Relaxed, Flirty, Sassy, Fiery, Enigmatic, Intuitive, Curious, Clever, Mature, Observant, Playful, Neutral, Thoughtful, Good Natured, Sympathetic, Faithful. About: Nox hadn't had the easiest of youths, and due to that case, in her younger days she was seen as a rather lazy and sassy female whom tended to throw insults at people, as well as ignore much of the population around her. However after certain events when she was eighteen, the female grew up to be a lot more mature and understanding to the situations around her. Perhaps whatever has happened, allowed her to open up to everything around her more? Nox is the type of a person that allows curiosity to get the best of her, yet she can be a delightful person to talk to at times. Having studied photography in University, Nox has a fairly keen eye to detail, seeming to pay attention to those around her more than the usual Joe. She can show a strong interest in things that catch her eye or amuse her, and her favourite past-time is playing her guitar. If you're a good listener and fascinated with life, it is very likely that Nox will take quite the liking in you. Likes/Interests: Night, Purple, Violets, Cats, Moon, Stars, Sky, Sunsets, Fire, Fireplaces, Music, Guitar, Hot Chocolate, Philosophy, Cafes, Streets, Photography, Darkness, Crows, Ravens, Streets, Heights, Cinnamon, Napping. Weaknesses: Cold! Nox can get very ill when in prolonged contact with cold, and any sort of frozen things, whether ice, icecream, or something like snow can cause her to get a fatal fever that can be difficult for her to get better from. Demons are known for their higher body temperatures, so imagine what happens when one goes into a feverish state! Name: Charlavail Harelwood Age: 19 Appearance wise, 1,987-ish in reality. Nickname: Charlie, Charla, Char, Carla Gender: Female Sexuality: Straight Height: 5ft Race: Fallen Angel Ethnicity: British Looks: With her long, beautiful white hair and stormy grey eyes, Charlie can oftentimes be seen in a light blue shirt that's covered in stains of paint due to spending a lot of her time, well- Painting, alongside her white jeans. Sometimes a black cardigan can be covering the shirt, or perhaps she's wearing a hoodie with jeans when not in her usual, 'casual' painting clothes. One of her ears is pierced, and a silver feather earring tends to decorate it. Key Personality Characteristics: Stubborn, Violent, Sassy, Angry, Fierce, Firecracker, Bashful, Demolishing, Irritable, Sullen, Creative, Capable, Colourful, Blunt, Quirky with a sprinkle of sweetness. About: You'd think with age comes maturity, right? Wrong. Charlavail is a spitfire that can surprise most with her vivid personality. She used to be a lot more violent when she was younger, her stubborn streak really affecting how she treated those around her, however over a certain amount of time she began to learn to control her emotions at least to the point where things weren't always flying in the air whenever someone said something she didn't like. She's a pretty touchy girl when it comes to people mentioning her height, and it is rather likely that she will cuss you out if you're not careful, but it's kind of her charm, no? However don't let her fool you, she might be a fierce female but she has her own sweet side, if one gives her the chance to open up to them. Careful though, that's not an easy thing to achieve and it takes quite the mighty patience and steady hand to get to that point with her. It's worth it in the long run, though. Name: 'Kassidy' Kassandrea Smith Age: 23 [Immortal] Nickname: Kass Gender: Female Sexuality: Bisexual Height: 5ft'5 Race: Fox Shapeshifter/Goddess Ethnicity: British Looks: A very skater-girl style, Kass loves plaid shirts of all sorts and shades. Her long, dark red hair often covers one of her eyes a little, which have a fantastic and vivid green-y yellow tone to them that makes her stand out from the average 'human'. She has somewhat fair skin, yet not too pale showing that she perhaps spends a bit of time outside. On her left arm one can see two golden bracelets, which have interesting rune-like patterns on them, yet with no possible obvious way of taking them off. Perhaps hidden clips? Key Personality Characteristics: Easy-going, Playful, Witty, Daredevil, Boyish, Wild, Dynamic, Flirtatious, Bold, Smart, Likeable, Humorous, Frivolous, Genuine, Warm, Understanding, Optimistic, Protective, Non-committal. About: Kassidy is the kind of easygoing but extremely flirtatious female whom struggles with commitments. It's not easy for her to truly 'fall' for someone, and is often seen hanging out with different people over the week. She's simply not the type to sleep alone due to 'reasons', which may refer to the nightmares she tends to get at night when alone. She can be seen as a bit of a player, however Kassidy has a good-natured personality and often means no harm. Many people seem to like and gravitate towards her, perhaps because she's a fairly genuine yet playful person. She had a bit of a difficult past per say, but if questioned upon it, she might end up explaining why she's the way she is. Perhaps she'll settle one day, or maybe she won't; that's up to the future to hold. Kass does live a very 'All or nothing, nothing can bother me' sort of a life, however whether she truly feels that way on the inside or not, is up to one to find out by getting to know her more and perhaps spending more time with her than the usual person she hangs out with. Get close to her, and you might make a strong connection that you won't regret, but be prepared for moments of heat as well as seriousness. Kassidy after all, can be a little unpredictable. Likes: Coffe, Coffee Art, Cafes, Steamy Windows, Desserts, Forests, Skateboards, Wildness, Plaid Shirts, Animals, Sex, Music, Indie, Laughter, Good Atmosphere, Hippie, Bohemian, Sleep, Pizza, Red.  Suitable/Preferred partners: Shapeshifters, Deities, Demons, Pets: Maine Coon cat called Nala. Name: Harper Jane Bryant Age: 23 [Immortal] Nickname: Jay, Harp Gender: Female Sexuality: Demisexual Height: 5ft'4 Race: Witch Ethnicity: Irish Looks: Somewhat tanned skin hinting to spending plenty of time outdoors, Harper has lively auburn hair that matches wonderfully with her hazel eyes. Her style is fairly modest and she tends to stick to long sleeved shirts for one reason or another. As far as seen, she has no piercings and doesn't add too much to her clothing, preferring simple styles. She can however be seen wearing a Tree of Life pendant with a tiny pentacle in the middle of the trunk. Key Personality Characteristics: Calm-seeming from a distance, Delicate, Anxious, Weary, Hostile, Cautious, Nervous, Hard-to-Approach, Pacifistic, Selfless, Subtle, Timid, Dependant, Intelligent, Kind, Sweet, Humble, Peaceful. About: The epitome of gentleness, Harper is a very sweet kind of a girl who cares about flora and fauna incredibly so. She's not really a 'cute' or 'shy' type per say, however she struggles with anxiety enough that some people pin her to be so. As a witch, she feels very in sync with nature around her, however her magic comes at a cost. It causes intense waves of anxiety and depression within the female whenever she uses it, and due to it she takes medication, which in turn weakens the magic within her to something far more manageable. It doesn't help that the female had a rough past that involved abandonment issues in her past due to what she is, which causes communication to be incredibly hard with her unless one is willing to show her that she's safe and that they're trustworthy. She's truly one of the kindest person to be around though, and she has such a deep love for the world around her. She can be rather clingy towards Kassidy, whom she has known for a few years and had been looked after for the time, which the Goddess is rather fond of. a tyrus fic based on the b[redacted}h scene in the promo
The air is thick with frost. Cyrus can see his breath puffing out as he walks. A bitter wind brushes through the trees. He makes it to the lit-up fire pit which attracted his attention from inside. He sits down. The wood of the bench is damp and cold, but the heat from the fire pit keeps it bearable. Cyrus then stares into the flame, orange embers dancing in his eyes. He can barely hear the noise from the party inside over the repetitive song of the crickets and the crackling of the fire. The smell of pine lingers around him.
Overwhelmed from the emotions induced by the party, he attempts to relax, leaning back into the bench. A sad smile forms on his face as he reminisces the last few weeks with his friends. He can’t imagine his life without them, but now with Andi’s going away party, he’ll have to get used to it. After all, art is Andi’s passion. She deserves to go somewhere that allows her to cultivate that talent. That doesn’t make the pang of sadness in Cyrus’s heart any less when he thinks about it, though.
Not only that, but Cyrus has felt things in his life spiraling recently as well. So much has happened in the last few months, good and bad. The events with Kira and TJ stick in his mind. Over the last few weeks he’s spent hours playing it over and over in his head.
The shuffling of rocks and leaves alerts Cyrus to someone approaching. He doesn’t even need to look up, as he already knows who it will be. As if on cue, the figure reaches him, standing and blocking the warmth radiating from the fire.
“Can I join you?”
Cyrus notices the slight waver in TJ’s voice. With it comes a level of uncertainty and caution that he’d never expect from the other boy. Then again, he’s learned a lot of things about TJ that he never would have expected. Cyrus shivers, scooting over and patting the spot on the bench beside him.
“What are you doing out here?” Cyrus wonders, eyes flitting back and forth from the fire to TJ.
TJ shrugs, picking at his nails. “I could ask you the same question.”
Although they’ve made up since costume day, things have changed since then. Cyrus has been testing the water recently, but he still isn’t sure where they stand with each other. Despite them lapsing back into their unique friendship rather quickly, Cyrus can’t shake the feeling that something is different. Right now, it’s more obvious than ever; a sort of tangible tension that lingers between them.
“I guess I just needed to get away from everything for a bit. It can be…a lot sometimes.”
“Yeah, trust me, I know,” TJ agrees. “I’m sorry things have been weird between us lately.”
Cyrus plays dumb. “What do you mean?”
“You’ve noticed it, too. I can tell. Kira really messed us up.”
Us.
Although Kira has since apologized, the consequences of her actions remain. Of course, Cyrus forgave her, as he’s a person who believes in second chances (as shown with Amber and TJ), but he won’t forget the rift she caused between them all.
“But she knows what she did was wrong,” Cyrus says. “Maybe now she can change.”
“You always see the best in people, Cyrus Goodman. You certainly did with me.”
TJ shifts, draping a hand over his knee. His fingers dangle down and brush up against Cyrus’s cold hand which lies along the bench. With this new angle, their knees can’t help but knock against one another. Cyrus glances down at their hands when they touch, smile forming on the edges of his lips.
The glow of the fire illuminates the side of TJ’s face. Cyrus swallows, noticing for once how close they are to each other. Cyrus chews on his lip in contemplation. The numerous thoughts that have been rushing through his head the whole day turn to just one.
TJ notices his brief change of countenance and posture. He always seems to notice these little things when it comes to Cyrus. Both look up at the same time, eyes meeting each other. TJ’s fingers inch closer, curling around the top of Cyrus’s hand. Cyrus feels his pulse pounding.
“I don’t know how I got so lucky,” TJ continues. “After we met, you helped me become a better person. Without you, I’d probably be the same old bully I used to be. I missed you everyday when I was with Kira, you know? I can’t ever get you off my mind.”
TJ shuffles impossibly closer to Cyrus, fingers sweeping across his knuckles. Cyrus’s breath hitches at his movement. TJ looks up from under his eyelashes.
“Is there anything you want to tell me?” TJ asks softly.
“Teej…” Cyrus murmurs, eyes glancing back down to their hands for reassurance. “I missed you too. So much. In fact, my feelings kept growing even when we were apart.”
“Feelings?”
“I-I’m gay, TJ,” Cyrus admits, but the hard part isn’t over yet. TJ smiles with gleaming eyes, urging him to continue. “And I didn’t realize it at first, but soon I figured out that what I feel for you is more than what friends feel. It’s something deeper. And I’m not sure if you feel how I’m feeling, but—"
TJ fully places his hand over Cyrus’s own, effectively cutting him off.
“I like you too, Underdog.”
“Yeah?”
“And you said I’m the oblivious one,” TJ teases.
Suddenly, the heat from the fire feels even warmer. As if it’s automatic, they both lean in. Cyrus tightens his grip on TJ’s hand. When their lips meet, the fire seems to glow even brighter in front of them, creating two joined silhouettes in the dark. Embers flutter in the air around them. They break apart giggling with joy, hands still clutched together. Cyrus waits until their laughs die down before speaking again.
“What you said about me making you a better person,” Cyrus starts, “You always had that in you, TJ. You’ve always been a good person. I just helped you realize your own potential. And you helped me realize my strengths.”
“I guess we bring out the best in each other, huh?”
They share a smile.
Despite the long pathway it took to arrive here, starting with their first meeting in the cafeteria to their encounters at the swing sets to the conflict with Kira, Cyrus decides that it was all worth it in the end. Every moment, every laugh, every conversation, every conflict.
It was worth it.

girls night
Datura threw her door open wide at the sound of knocking. With the new addition of Fiona to their little coven, Datura decided it was time for a girls' night. It was the perfect way for the ladies to all get to know each other a little better. Plus, Datura loved hosting people.
"Good evening, my children," Datura greeted Prometheus and Fiona dramatically. She stepped aside, sweeping her arm behind her as she beckoned them in.
"Welcome to my little slice of heaven... Or hell?" Datura paused, furrowing her eyebrows. "I suppose my home should belong to the same realm as I do."
Prom rolled her eyes at Datura's antics, quickly sitting in her usual spot of the armchair near Datura's window. The first time Datura had ever invited the girl over, she had immediately claimed the chair as her place. It was a large, burgundy wingback armchair that Datura had found at a thrift store. It seemed perfectly fitting for Prom.
Fiona stepped into the witch's apartment a little more carefully, eying the decor curiously. She had never stepped into Datura's apartment. She had only snuck glances inside as Datura rushed in and out. It was a lot like she had expected. The walls were adorned with artwork, presumably some Datura-originals and some purchased, but all dark and twisty. Plants were scattered about on every surface, some hung from the ceiling, and even what appeared to ivy crawling up the walls (although, Fiona had never seen ivy that looked quite like that). There were also candles everywhere, all aflame and somehow not catching the plants or other decor on fire. Datura had probably charmed them so as not to cause a fire. And of course, Fiona caught sight of what she supposed were witch essentials: a basket full of crystals, tarot cards, voodoo dolls (and some spare fabrics and string) off to the side, a few knives of different metals sitting atop velvet in some sort of case, what looked like little cauldrons, some chalices... Anything you could think of that a witch might use: Datura had it.
Datura watched Fiona carefully as the human stepped further into the apartment, her hand raising to touch one of the more unique plants in the room.
"I wouldn't do that," Datura piped up, a small smile pulling at her lips. There was trouble in her eyes, however, betraying her calm tone. "That there is a highly volatile plant. It was bred specifically to kill people in perhaps the most agonizing way possible."
Fiona drew her hand back, giving Datura a slightly alarmed look. The witch simply shrugged.
"My parents gave it to me when I was sixteen. I've nurtured it ever since," she explained, plopping herself down onto one of the pillows surrounding her coffee table. She motioned for Fiona to take a seat. The girl opted to perch herself on the couch across from her, sitting closer to Prom.
"What are those," Fiona asked curiously, pointing to the small wooden box Datura was closing up. Inside it was a few "joints," but Fiona hadn't caught the scent of marijuana when she came inside. Datura's smiled grew to her usual cheery one.
"Think of them as smokable potions," Datura grinned, clearly excited about the notion. "It's something I've been working on for a long time. Some of them are very successful, like this one. It's a mixture of lavender, kava kava, and crocodile heart. It's meant to calm you and reduce anxieties, but in high doses can put someone right to sleep."
Fiona looked both impressed and intrigued. She leaned closer, trying to get a better look at the joint Datura was holding, but Datura dropped it back in the box.
"Some of them, however, have not proven very successful," she sighed, closing the box and placing it on a shelf behind her. "It's not exactly easy trying to turn very liquid potions into solid joints meant to be smoked."
"Datura showed Pollux these shortly after we met her," Prom interjected, turning her head to Fiona. "At the time the only successful one she had was the calming one. All the others were failing miserably. There was even one that was meant to help you see to the other side, but all it successful did was give you a killer headache and the hiccups. But Pol was so impressed by the idea and the work she'd done, that he started helping her."
Datura laughed at the memory, nodding her head. Pollux had been a big help in refining her potion-joints. There were still many that needed fixing, many that they needed to find substitute ingredients for, but they were making progress.
Datura was about to share another funny anecdote about a failed potion-joint when there was knocking at the door. Furrowing her eyebrows, Datura got up to answer. She wasn't expecting anyone else -- this was girls only and she didn't have any real friends outside the coven.
Cautiously opening the door, she was greeted with the smug grin of one very handsome demon. Ambrose was standing there, leaning against her doorframe looking all too sexy, with a bottle of wine in his hand.
"I heard there was a slumber party, and I just had to crash it," he teased, winking down at the witch. "Please tell me you haven't started the pillow fights without me."
The demon tried to step past Datura, ready to greet the other two witches with more flirtatious words, but the small witch gripped the doorframe. Blocking his path with her arm, she glared up at him. Ambrose easily could have overpowered her, but the look in her eyes was a bit intimidating and that intrigued him.
"It's girls only, Ambrose," Datura informed him, her voice making it clear that this was not up for debate. Behind her, Datura could hear Prom chuckling at the sight of the small witch staring down the demon.
Ambrose sighed heavily. With a little extra drama than necessary, he rolled his eyes and started grumbling before changing his appearance. Maybe this was something the demon shouldn't have done out in the hallway, but Datura wasn't giving him a choice.
A second later, a very female, very attractive demon stood before Datura. She looked a lot like Ambrose: still blonde hair, perfect skin, great body, and a devilish smirk. She was also still a good foot taller than the little witch.
"Better?" Amber drawled, batting her eyelashes for extra measure. Datura's lips quirked into a small smile as she stepped aside and ushered the demon in.
"All the same to me, if I'm Ambrose or Amber, darlings," the demon continued, flashing cheeky smiles to Fiona and Prom. "I'm still just as willing to have a bit of... fun with you ladies."
Datura rolled her eyes as she took her seat again. Shaking her head, she went back to rearranging the crystals on the coffee table.
"No funny business tonight, Amber," she sassed, smirking at the demon's pout as she sat next to Fiona. Datura eyed the way Amber draped an arm carefully over the human's shoulders and the human seemed to melt into her. Apparently, those two were now a 'thing,' given the body language. Datura vaguely wondered if Fiona preferred Amber or Ambrose. And if Grisha knew what was going on.
"Well, if there's not going to be any 'funny business,' then what is the plan, Tura?" Prom asked teasingly, raising an eyebrow at the setup the witch had made on the coffee table.
In the center of the table laid an old paintbrush, the hair practically falling out and the wooden handle well-worn. Around it sat various purple and blue candles, Prom knew these were especially useful in enhancing psychic powers and communication. Small crystals laid between each candle, and some incense laid just above the circ;e Datura had created. Judging by the smell, it was likely frankincense.
Prom sat up a little straighter, looking a bit scared -- or as scared as Prom ever looked, which wasn't very. Really, her features looked as calm as ever but there was a slight difference in her eyes. Less chaos in them than usual. Datura thought that meant Prom was worried or scared, but honestly she wasn't sure.
"Are we... Is this a seance?" Prom asked carefully, meeting Datura's eye.
The other witch grinned with a nod of her head, motioning for everyone to join her on the floor.
"Indeed it is, oh fearless leader," she laughed. She may have thought that Prom looked frightened, but she wasn't about to encourage that. Besides, she was probably wrong in her judgment.
"Now that Amber is training our lovely, little Fiona to be a witch, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to hold a seance," she admitted as the duo on the couch joined her on the floor. Prom was still in her chair.
"Why now?" Fiona asked, furrowing her eyebrows. "Why start with this?"
"Well, it's relatively easy magic when you're in a group," Datura explained. "It's not the easiest thing we could teach you, but I figured it would be a little more fun than reading tea leaves or tarot cards. But I do plan on teaching those some other day. I'll leave the big stuff to Amber and Prom to teach you. I call dibs on my favorite little things."
Amber chuckled, shaking her head. Of course, the witches were going to leave all the heavy lifting to her. Although... It did make sense since she was the one giving Fiona her abilities... Actually, pretty sound logic. Amber didn't have the patience to teach the small stuff.
"Now, Prom, get down here before I have Amber physically pull you down here," Datura instructed, holding a hand out to the witch.
Prom reluctantly lowered herself to the floor, accepting Datura's hand. She held Fiona's in her other, and Amber sat across from her holding the human and the other witch's hands. Amber caught Prom's eye and noticed the same lack of usual chaos that Datura had. Amber, however, was a bit more adept at reading people. Came with the whole being a demon thing. And she could clearly see that Prom was definitely worried, perhaps even frightened, to do this. It didn't make sense to Amber. This was the witch that summoned her, a demon, on a whim, and yet she was stressing over a little seance? Something else was going on.
But it was too late to stop it, Datura was quickly explaining to Fiona the steps of a proper seance. They were apparently trying to connect with some dead painter -- Amber wasn't really listening but she caught something about how Datura had to use some charms to convince a museum to give her this paintbrush. Then Datura was muttering Latin, her eyes closed and head bowed. And suddenly the room had dropped ten degrees. The candles flickered but stayed lit. A strong wind seemed to pass through the room, though, causing the hanging plants to sway back and forth.
Prom looked like she was going to puke. Amber knew it wasn't because the magic was draining her, she was far too strong for that, but this was something emotional. She snuck a glance to her left at Fiona. The redhead looked shocked, but the awe-inspired kind of shocked. She was enjoying this. Amber turned her eyes to Datura. The witch was still muttering under her breath, but her eyes were scrunched tight. Her grip was tightening around Amber's hand. She looked almost distressed and confused. Like she was being blocked in her path towards the right spirit.
Suddenly, Datura's eyes flew open with a gasp. Amber almost made a joke about the girl being overdramatic -- who really gasps at a seance anymore? Certainly not a witch as strong as Datura. But then Amber caught sight of the spirit that had arrived.
Sometimes in seances, the spirits simply speak through the host. It takes a lot of power on both ends -- the witches and the spirits -- for a spirit to corporealize. Had Amber not been there, it would have been unlikely the three witches could have pulled a spirit into this realm. Even with witches as strong as Prom and Datura. Doing so was near necromancy. But with a demon, it was more than easy enough to pull the spirit through to the other real.
But Amber hadn't been trying to do that for the girls. At least, she wasn't consciously making an effort to do so. She supposed that maybe she hadn't needed to. Surely, that was the explanation as to why there was a flickering male spirit standing just beyond Prom's shoulder.
Never mind the fact that the spirit looked an awful lot like Prometheus.
Everybody but Prom was staring at the spirit, seemingly speechless. Of course, Datura broke the chilly silence.
"You aren't Vincent," she mused, addressing the spirit. "You... You tried to tell me something while you were traveling here. What was it?"
Datura used the term 'traveling' lightly. When she had started the seance, she'd immediately run into a roadblock of sorts. That roadblock was a spirit, this spirit. She suspected that he didn't have to travel very far. He had been here before, he just needed some assistance breaking through to this side of the realm.
"My name," the spirit spoke up, bowing his head to look down at Prom. The witch still hadn't acknowledged his presence.
"Prometheus the first. Although, when I was alive it was merely Prometheus."
All eyes turned to Prom. This was going to be an interesting explanation.

The Cradle, Vampire Alternate Universe HC.
Ikemen Revolution
A/N: I couldn’t get this AU out of my head after I wrote my last vampire fic! Below you will find a HC for all the suitors and then some. Lore is down at the bottom with a list of traits and weaknesses. Let me know what you think! I will be doing more with this HC soon so stay tuned!
• ·  .  ·  ´  `  · . ·•· . · ´ ` · . ·•· . · ´ ` · . ·•· . ·  ´  `  ·  .  · •
Neutrals:
Oliver Knight is human during the day (always an adult) and a vampire during the night. He makes an amber synthetic ether potion and sells it. He also works with humans and makes weapons to protect them from the Vampires. Never killing them, only incapacitating them until the humans can get away safely. Got turned into a vampire by accident after an experiment with vampire blood and magic went horribly wrong.
Harr Silver also makes ether, but he gives his away to Loki to sell. His ether is from naturally grown plants out in the forbidden forest. He specializes in clear ether and pink, (the aphrodisiac)  to everyone's surprise. Harr hates that he became a vampire, making him bolder when he is hungry due to his survival instinct. He has a bit of self-loathing going on. His magic seems to be gone, but it's replaced with superhuman abilities he prefers. Still teaches Loki magic.
Loki Genetta is a vampire-human mix. He was born to a father that was a vampire and a human mother. He’s able to use magic since he is part human. Sells Harr’s ether during the day since the sun only gives him a bit of a sunburn. He wears his hood to hide his skin. His vampire family shunned Loki for being a halfling, ignored by his human family for being a ‘monster,’ and picked up by ancient vampires at the magic tower for his unique abilities.
Blanc Lapin is an ancient vampire, yet neutral. He's been around longer than anyone can count. Used to use his hypnotic stare to sway women to let him feed on them for many years. Now he's tired of that and refined to just asking nicely since vampires are more common. He drinks the ether that's meant for the humans, and no one can figure out why.
Black Army:
Ray Blackwell is a vampire that fails to feed regularly. His friends were worried until they realized it was his own way of curbing his superhuman abilities. He's able to control his hunger, even when he's beyond thirst, to slow down his body's capabilities. This makes him feel less like a monster and can focus on his tasks as King. Wants to be sympathetic to the humans in this regard. Has lots of willing women from the territory to feed on if he ever needs it.
Sirius Oswald exhibits signs of being a vampire. Sharp teeth, superhuman strength, pale skin, immortality, drinks blood. Yet, he can walk in the sun just fine. He seems to know more than he's letting on, but everyone is curious why he’s so different. Disappears often but always gets his job done beforehand.
Luka Clemence was born into an old vampire family. All of the members have vampirism. He watched his brother go through brutal training to be in control of his thirst, but Luka was given free roam. Since he was the second born and not designated to titles, they allowed him to feed on whoever he liked. Play dates as a child ended badly due to his unending thirst, but he didn’t understand how horrible it was until he was older. After understanding how brutal he was as a child, he taught himself how to hold back, and prides himself on his self taught strength.
Seth Hyde holds it together pretty well until he’s hungry. Seth is always happy go lucky and keeps up a front that everything is fine. Deep down he's deeply disturbed by what he's become and is disgusted with himself. Yet, his instincts take over, and his mind switches into survival mode to feed. He hides his past from everyone but somehow knows random facts about the ancient vampires that the public doesn’t know, catching everyone off guard.
Fenrir Godspeed has a particularly rabid form of vampirism. He goes to Oliver for a potion that settles him down. Forgetting to take it, he will fly off in a blind feed. He has the capability of killing an entire village in a matter of seconds before his mind gains control of his consciousness again. Keeps this extra potion on him at all times.
Red Army:
Lancelot Kingsley is an old old vampire, but not as old as Blanc. He’s also able to use magic to everyone's surprise. He can only become magical when he’s fed recently. He keeps a vile of his lovers (or someone's) blood with him at all times just in case. He feeds frequently, indulges really, to make sure he's the strongest he can be at all times. His father and mother were part of the ancient vampire race.
Jonah Clemence was born into an old vampire family. As the first born, he was raised with the families customs. He didn’t have his first feed from a live human until he was well into his life and ever since he has a hard time stopping. His family thought it would help him control his urges, but he became somewhat impulsive and indulgent because of this. Many people died at his hand due to his inability to stop. He’s been put on synthetic plasma and not allowed to drink from a person by the King's orders.
Edgar Bright freely indulges in vials of blood he creates regularly. Its looked down upon by the other officers, making him look weak and unable to wait until feeding time but he doesn't seem to care what they think. He enjoys the blood of someone after they’ve eaten their fair share of cake and candies. The sweet taste of their blood is more of a treat than a necessity to feed. He can’t help that he's a sweet tooth. He feeds more than Lancelot does without anyone realizing it and happens to be the strongest out of the whole red army because of it.
Kyle Ash is a newly turned vampire. He tries to take patients regularly but finds himself hypnotizing them with his stare to allow him to feed on them willingly. Uses his healing tongue more than he would like to. Kyle wants to help people, but his need to feed tends to be stronger than his morals. He also scared off his last lover by going too far. He drank so much of her blood she passed out for a couple of days making Kyle distraught. Once she came to and recovered, she left him and moved out of the cradle entirely. He feels guilty and goes out with Oliver and Blanc at night to drink away his gloomy feelings.
Zero has no memory of his past other than about five years back. He’s a vampire, but he has no idea how long he's been like this, where he came from, or who his family is. He has impressive control when it comes to feeding and knows when to stop. Zero hides a symbol on his neck that looks similar to what a breed of ancient vampires uses to mark their clan.
Other Citizens:
Amon Jabberwock is from an old order of vampire, the ancients. He was turned when he was only eight years old. He appears to look 19 now even though he's centuries old by now. He wants to subjugate the humans, making them into thralls for his ultimate purpose of making his clan the most powerful group of vampires in history.
Dean Tweedle was a professor when one of his favorite students became a vampire and joined the red army. Later, the student came back to ‘thank’ him by changing Dean into a vampire. He was distraught after he accidentally killed someone, and sought help from his brother only to find he was jealous of his humanity.
Dalim Tweedle was changed into a vampire by his twin brother without his consent. He’s angry at Dean and refuses to speak to him for the rest of their many many years. He also prefers to never drink from the same person twice. The ether you give humans can become addictive, due to is pleasurable feeling and can connect the vampire and human over time. He doesn’t want to get too attached to anyone as long as he’s a monster.
Mousse Atlas pretends to be human in front of Alice. He denies all connection to vampires and firmly believes he will find a cure one day on his travels. He spends a lot of his time mapping out places with lore that have a vampirism cure. However, when his thirst grows too much, he hypnotizes someone to forget his face while he drinks from them.
Vampire traits:
Immortal(ish): They have a very long lifespan, but it does come to an end eventually. They do age, but it's very slow.
Fast: Can run at high speeds, or move so fast it appears as an instant to the human eye.
Superhuman strength: Depending on human ability their vampire traits are multiplied by that. (i.e., if someone was capable of amazing feats as a human they will be a stronger vampire.)
Appearance: Skin becomes duller than their human tone, sometimes pale looking. Their eyes gain a sort of filament at the back of their eye that is reflective. This helps them see in the dark. Nails become as strong as diamonds. Their skin is impenetrable by any known substance, even another vampire's nails/claws.
Hypnotic Stare: They can persuade people to do things for them/think a certain way by putting them in a hypnotic state.
Healing Tongue: Their saliva can heal humans wounds within seconds.
Humanity: They hold their humanity still, yet it's hard when their thirst becomes strong.
Food: Feeds on the blood of living things or synthetic plasma.
Enthralling: Vampire thralls are made by over hypnotizing someone after they’ve been drained of blood. The vampire bites them over and over telling them to obey their every command. This technique can be used for many things, but a thrall is a typical outcome. The human is broken and is at the whim of their sired master.
Weakness’: Vampires can't use the cradle magic since they became the magical creature themselves. (Typically) Sunlight: Five seconds will burn their skin, but up to 30 seconds would kill them. Fire: Burns them to a crisp they can’t recover from. Not eating: If they don’t feed, they will grow too weak to hunt and eventually wither away.
Ether: This is a potion that humans take to feel no pain. The pain is replaced with either numbness, warmth, or pleasure depending on the color of ether you drink. Clear is numbness, amber is warmth, and pink colored is pleasure. Vampires in the cradle use this on the ones they wish not to harm.
Lore: Most vampires are used for the armies since they are the strongest. Humans and vampires coexist in the Cradle to an extent. The main argument between the Red and Black armies is a moral one. The Red army believes everyone should be turned into a vampire, since they are stronger, and serve their army to grow it. They want to turn anyone loyal to the red army into a vampire while locking up others who are not.
The Black army intends to prevent the turning of humans so that humanity can thrive. They actively chose never to turn anyone unless it is a dire situation or everyone has voted on and agreed to. The humans still have a choice in both territories thanks to the actions of the black army and their efforts with the government to create laws for both vampires and humans.
To turn into a vampire, you must drink one's blood and allow the poisonous blood to kill you or die by any means. Either way, vampire blood will kill a human slowly.

Waterfalls and Whirlpools (2)
In which we meet the orc Urzash, our main love interest for Erin.
---
Urzash Firetamer was the only child of her parents.  Thusly her father, the infamous Shamrol Skullcrusher, trained her the same way he would have trained a son.  Urzash was an imposing orc by any measure, nearly eight feet tall and full-blooded with deep green skin and impressive tusks, many beads decorating her mane of dark hair.  This newest conquest would earn her the second band around her tusks, a high honor denoting her prowess in combat.  Her pouch was heavy with gold and gems, mostly honestly gained but a few pilfered along the way, and her pack had two new additions, a blessed warhammer and an ancient looking leather journal the sorcerer they assisted assured her connected with other universes.
Alys, the cleric, pulled off her helm, running her fingers through sweat-matted brown curls before gesturing with her chin at the book Urzash had slapped down on the wooden table.  “Have you looked at it yet?”  Alys’s voice was always thick and dark, like a rare fall honey, it matched the caramel tone of her skin and the intense amber yellow of her eyes.
Urzash just shakes her head, running one huge thumb over the cover.  She got her name, Firetamer, because she showed a proficiency for not only brute strength but fire magic.  She was a well known berzerker because of this uniqueness, able to coat her fists and body in a suit of fire in the midst of battle.  As useful a skill as her fire taming was, it still made her feel like an outsider in the orcish community.  That’s why she left in the first place, joining an adventurer’s guild and striking off out into the vast wilderness of Auren and beyond.
The first thing she notes when she opens the book finally is that it is partially filled, and the writing is possibly the tidiest she’s ever seen.  The neat, loopy script fills the first six pages of the book, front and back, and each entry is signed off with a mysterious “EC.”  The writing is mundane talk about feelings, activities, days, but the wording is odd…  It’s written in common, which isn’t so strange, but talks about things she’s never heard of.  Cars, television, internet, meaningless words.
Urzash scoffs as she reaches the first blank page, and the party’s halfling rogue giggles.  “Betcha that sorcerer stiffed us by giving us some worthless junk ‘n calling it magic or whatever.  That just looks like some crazy ramblings.”  Urzash was ready to agree with Penny, but they’re both interrupted from beginning a rant by the slim hand of Lithwe, the sorcerer declaring that there was indeed some deep magic within the book.  The argument itself though is stopped when words begin to appear on the page before their eyes.
Hello again
It’s hot here today, hotter than usual, but I’ve managed to find my way to a secluded little waterfall in the forest behind my house.  It’s really beautiful, idyllic and inspiring, you know?
The loopy font is slowly blooming to life on the page, and as Urzash rubs at it nothing happens, the ink doesn’t even smudge appearing on the page bone dry.  She digs through her pack to produce a quill and ink, quickly scrawling out a message at the bottom.
Are you there?
Urzash isn’t sure what she’s expecting to happen.  Nothing maybe?
Who  What is  How  Yes?
It’s like Urzash can see the thought process as this is happening, mirroring her own.  She didn’t think this through, did she?  What does she say now?  Who is this?  Where are they from?  Are they really from another universe or is this some kind of magic trick?  Hesitating over the page, a splotch of ink drops from her quill onto the paper, as she keeps thinking about what to write she watches as whoever is on the other side turns the ink splash into a flower, complete with stem and leaves.  So, probably a real person on the other end and not some magic script.  Urzash smiles at that, eyes bright with curiosity.
You’re actually real.  Tell me, where are you from?
Erin isn’t exactly sure what to do with herself when words start appearing on the page before her randomly.  Writing and scratching out and writing and scratching out a few times before finally settling on her response, which felt a little weak now that she sits back and looks at it.  As she waits for a response she begins nervously doodling around an ink blot that appeared on the page in the same sudden blooming manner.  She isn’t sure how specific she should be, so she settles for some vagueness.  Although, realistically, if whoever was on the other side could read her writing they’d know enough about her to come and find her which sent a sudden surge of icy terror down her spine.  Still, it was too late to do anything about it now.
Washington state, in the US, what about you?
Urzash is hopelessly confused, the us?  The who?  And Washington?  That’s an odd name for a place.  A town where you wash things?
Washington where?
The response is a crudely drawn map of a place Urzash has never seen, a land that looks wholly unfamiliar to her in terms of coastline.  Some rough lines are drawn in along the left side and then circled, as if that should clear anything up.  A little arrow pointing to it fills in Washington State and is followed with another set of lines circled towards the right side with an arrow pointing to say Washington DC.  Urzash wonders briefly if this DC is related to EC, perhaps an older relative or ancient ancestor?
“That map makes no sense.”  Alys’s voice draw’s Urzash’s eyes from the page.  “No discovered land has a coastline anything like that, and we’ve had sailors circumnavigate the globe.”  Her fingers begin drumming on the table, brow furrowed.  “I mean, nothing even close to it, look at that peninsula right there sticking out from the bottom right, nothing like that has ever been mapped.”  As they’re talking more text appears beneath the map.
Where are you from?
Currently Greenbriar’s Landing, in the country of Auren.
Auren isn’t a country I’ve ever heard of?
Urzash hums to herself, scratching out a map of her own of the land and a few landmarks such as mountains and the main rivers.  Lithwe interrupts again, their light voice cutting through the chatter around them.  “The magic is being channeled through some sort of portal at a level so intrinsic as to not be seen.  I wonder...if we could mold and use this magic to somehow draw ourselves or the other through this portal to the other side…”  They trail off, muttering to themselves as their eyes glow a faint blue while they channel and work to break down the spell to its most basic components.
So, it seems as though the journal is authentic, and does connect elsewhere.
What’s Auren like?
Urzash purses her lips in thought.
A lot of open land, mostly.  It’s fairly peaceful, although bandits are a problem as I’m sure you know.  The cities and strongholds are well protected, but raids on smaller hamlets are sadly common.  Traveling can be dangerous but it’s getting safer as alliances between larger cities mean more patrolling along roads.
Erin, in fact, did not know bandits were still a problem.  Still, if this is some kind of writing exercise for whoever or whatever is on the other end of this, that’s fine.  Either that or this is the start of her descent into madness, and she’s actually the one writing all of this and not remembering it.  Really, at this point, she isn’t sure which of the choices is worse, especially considering the implications of the former.
What is Washington like?
Erin’s reverie, or spiral into a panic attack but who’s asking, is interrupted by this.
We’re way West and North, with a lot of forest still despite the US’s propensity for cutting down nature to make way for man.  I live in the forest now at the base of some mountains, it’s nice.  Quiet town, not a whole lot to do, but I like it that way.
Alys breaks the silence of the group.  “Men destroying nature in favor of their own desires, some things are the same everywhere.”  Urzash hums in agreement, penning a response that says as much, before their table is joined by a face she was hoping to never see again.
“What do you want, Rolgar?”  The growl of Urzash’s voice would be enough to send most scattering, but Rolgar just gives her that leering smile she’s always hated, tusks flashing in the dim firelight.
“What?  A guy can’t come check up on an old friend?”  One of his thick arms is slung across the back of her chair, and she stands abruptly to shove it off, glaring down and growling at the presumptuous orc.  Rolgar for his part just grins, standing languidly and beating Urzash in height by just an inch or two.  “You’re right, we really should go for a dance.”  Rolgar reaches for her hand, and Urzash slaps his arm away.  “You know, I like ‘em feisty.”  He breeches her personal space, coming far too close as he reaches for her hip.
Urzash lashes out with her right fist, connecting with his jaw.  The resounding crack silences the rest of the tavern, and the clink of one impressive tusk cracking off and falling to the stone ground elicits a gasp from the onlooking crowd.  Rolgar lifts a trembling hand to feel the stump where there was once a proud tusk.  Yes, it would grow back as all orc tusks do, but considering the size it could be a year or more before he’d be back to his normal self.  The impotent roar that Rolgar lets out just makes Urzash laugh.  He telegraphs his oncoming attack so hard that all Urzash really has to do is use his momentum against him, sidestepping the punch and grabbing him by the arm to make sure he goes down to the floor.
She’s standing on his upper back and has his leading arm by the wrist, twisted and pulled behind him as she moves her foot up until she’s putting pressure on his neck.  “What do you want, Rolgar?”  Urzash grinds out her response with the very last dregs of her patience, wondering exactly how much trouble she’d be in if she just stepped a little harder and snapped his neck.  Would anyone believe she slipped?
Rolgar is coughing on the ground, staring at his own tusk and still internally raging.  “Icewing.”  The name is enough to get Urzash to lift her boot just enough to ease his talking.  “Icewing has been spotted taking to air again, he’s terrorizing the hamlets around Urgaur Stronghold.  The party that had claimed to have defeated him merely pilfered from his hoard and left him sleeping.”  Urzash roars but throws down Rolgar’s arm and steps back, sneering down at him.
“Fucking useless!  I told them the Golden Helm company was a fraud.  ‘We don’t need a fighter’ they say ‘we do everything quick and quiet, like a knife to the ribs.’  What a bunch of fucking tripe.”  Urzash is pacing.  Dragons...it’s rare a company gets the chance to pit their strength against the terrifying wrath of a dragon.  Fire drakes were the most powerful, but there hadn’t been a fire drake known for at least the last four hundred years.  An ice drake was still a formidable and deadly challenge.
“They know, that’s why they’re asking for you.”  Rolgar stands and cracks his neck, his languid stretch shows off his lean muscular frame.  He’s the epitome of male orcish aesthetics, but Urzash has never been interested in men, especially orc men if what she grew up with was anything to go by.  Still, Urgaur Stronghold was her birthplace and home, she couldn’t let this stand.
“Fine, sit, but away from me.  We’ll discuss terms.”  Urzash kicks a chair out from the table and points at it before taking her own seat back and glancing at the book.  Whoever was on the other side had written more, but it would have to wait for now.  Closing the journal and putting it in her pack, Urzash gives her full attention to Rolgar as he begins discussing the first attacks and current patterns, along with compensation.  He may be a dick but his tactical mind was indeed useful and honed.
They talk into the early hours of the morning, leaving only once a fair deal has been hashed out and handshakes given all around.  They’ll set out in two day’s time towards the hoard of Icewing.  Now, everyone knows that confronting a dragon head on is sure death.  You have to lie in wait, and when the dragon’s guard is down you strike.  By the time Urzash climbs into her bunk and pulls the book from her pack it’s been several hours since she last looked at it.
It’s true, mankind seems to think that the metrics by which we measure humanity are the only true things of worth.  So nature isn’t considered progress, and personal growth is stymied by this greed and lust for power and control.  It’s why I left the city to live here, I couldn’t take it anymore.
I’m Erin, what’s your name?
Sorry if that was too personal, I hope I haven’t run you off!
Then there are some half started letters and spots of ink, but otherwise nothing else.  Urzash sighs through her nose, feeling a little bad for ignoring the writer on the other end.
Not run off, just a bit of an emergency to handle.  You can call me Ash, many do, short for Urzash.  I must go for the evening, but I would like to talk again.  You write about many things that confuse me but I want to learn.  Like what are these unreliable things called cars you hate so much? And this internet thing sounds usefu...
Urzash is truly too tired to think much about what she’s writing, and her handwriting slowly devolves until she falls asleep with the book propped next to her and quill staining the sheets.

Beriphitar’s Pillage 1
A cigarette leaks smoke from the corner of my frown as I work, hacking the neglected path clear again with my machete. My garden bed should be back here. I grow all kinds of things.
There's magenta irilis which gives my "snacks" and snacks their unique, fresh, lovely flavor. It also adds a nice touch of color, I think. Then there's the weight pullers: tall, weedy drogul plants, harsh smelling buds of grengis, and the innocent looking but deceptively potent white composite flowers, yequin.
Don't wanna remember all that? Don't worry; all you need to know is that they're drugs and drug enhancers, and people want what I harvest out here. It's a mixed bag, this business. It gets me into all sorts of mess with people, but I wouldn't do it, you know, unless it payed the bills.
And it does that, really well in fact. I huff I sigh into the humid air, grateful that at least it's relatively cool, and I'm finally through. I look over the state of my garden, and observe, unsurprised, that the rest of the evening must be spent weeding.
The middle class in my town is probably what's called riffraff elsewhere, and whether we're farmers, craftsmen, or prostitutes, we spend much of our time bent over.
I stretch occasionally when my back aches. I wonder if it's normal for a guy my age to have back and shoulder pain at rest, though. I grit my teeth and shrug it off when it happens, because it's not like it's a surprise, for how long I've been working the land.
Despite all the violence, dishonesty and threats I have to contend with in my line of work, I love this time after I've finished doing something. I feel small yet accomplished as I look up at the starry night sky, unpolluted and uncontested by city lights. On the ground, darkness, dirt, leaves and chirping surround me. I'm alone in the most perfect sense, but then I have to go back home into the residential district of town.
I trudge out of the woods, tired and hungry by now, and looking forward to getting home. I hop on my scooter. I'd call it something like "Trusty Rusty", but even though it's old, I take care of my things, so it's not rusty at all. I buzz down town, taking the back roads so I don't really run into anyone. My house is modest, but comfortable. Some dust can't be helped out here, but I've put my foot down against mildew, stains, and muck.
I strip out of my rough, dirt-crusted pants and torn shirt, enjoy a hot shower, and put on some fresh clothes. As I'm enjoying my warm meal, a knock sounds on my door.
I open up in my boxers and shabby grey t-shirt, with my usual lazy-eyed, irreverent expression.
"What do you want?", I ask the guy standing there.
We're friends, I guess, but only because I lack a better word. Reyfon scratches his messy brown hair and laughs lightly.
"I came to talk to you about that thing."
His thick glasses and somewhat shy demeanor would kind of suggest and innocent young man, but many of his actions paint a corrupted picture.
Truth is, I totally forgot about whatever event we have planned, but I just say, "Okay", like I was planning on him showing up at my doorstep in the middle of my beans and rice.
He steps in on his nervously light feet. I watch as he does a brief, sweeping glance over my home. I never say anything, but man, do I hate it when people evaluate and scrutinize me or my stuff like that. Reyfon smiles. "Looks like you're still your usual neat self."
"It hasn't been that long", I reply.
"Yeah, I guess so", he says. "Maybe a couple of weeks?"
"I bet you've had your hands even fuller than mine", I say.
"Yeah. It feels pretty hectic adjusting to the influx of tourists, no matter how many summers I spend at the brewery."
Reyfon comes from a family of artisans- brewers. While I haven't particularly missed him, I have missed the free beer. I look down and sure enough, I see one of the reasons why I always graciously pardon his intrusions into my home. "Oh", he says, lifting up the paper bag once he notices my eyes have locked on it. "Here."
I immediately take it, put it on the table, and unpack the assortment of pricey drinks, darks, lights, ales, ambers, et cetera. Needless to say, I'm very pleased. "Thanks", I say, then pause. "I suppose you want me to thank you some other way as well."
Reyfon smirks and nods. I'll have to help him again. "You know my father's health has been declining", he begins.
"Yeah."
"More and more of the responsibilities for the business have come down to me, my older brother, and kid sister." Then he scoffs, "Well, mostly me and Veralia. Yet, according to the tradition of favoring the eldest, the one to inherit the brewery will be Theorion. You know my brother, arrogant and lazy, and worse, incompetent and irresponsible. It wouldn't 100% be up to him even if he were the owner, but with enough poor decisions and investments, he could end up making a mess of generations of our family's hard work. So please, help rid us of this pest."
I grow tense, and hold up my hand. "Hold on. This sounds pretty serious. Knocking off some poor scrubs from the west side of hick town is simple, something nobody cares too much about. But now you're asking me to help kill the heir of a wealthy business. Everyone knows you guys around here, and whatever happens to him, it will thoroughly investigated."
"I know it's too much to ask as a friend, so on my word, you will be compensated generously", Reyfon says.
So far, I'm not too keen on this, but that word, "generously" hangs in the air tantalizingly.
"Do you even have a plan yet?", I ask.
"I was hoping you could take care of everything on that front. Of course, though, I'll provide whatever inside info you might need."
"I'm taking a huge risk here, hitting such a prominent target, but how much would you be willing to give me for this?"
"How does 10,000 buckaroos sound?"
"Nice try. This could break my life, so I need enough money to make it if this goes well. 20,000 buckaroos."
Reyfon cringes a little, but says, "Okay. I'll pay you after it's done."
I frown. "You think you're the one of us who trusts the other less? Who's at the other's mercy? You'll pay me before, or there's no way I'm doing shit."
"Hey, it doesn't have to be like that", he says. "How about a compromise? I pay 10,000 upfront, and the other half after it's done."
"15,000 up front."
"Fine. So you'll do it, then?"
I pause for a moment. "Yeah."
"Great", Reyfon says with a small smile, sighing in relief, as if assassinating his brother were an innocent request like any other. "I should be going then. Enjoy the brews. This could earn you a lifetime supply, Beriphitar."
With that, he left, leaving me standing, trying to keep myself from slowly being overwhelmed by what the fuck I'd just agreed to do. Nothing was set it writing. I could still back out, but I feel that that would be unacceptable for me. But then I get another idea. If I'm going to do something like this, if I'm going to take this kind of risk, might as well go all out. It seems like Reyfon can pay me, easily, whenever this gets done. That makes me suspect that the Greyhorns have a lot of cash sitting around.
The next day, Reyfon meets me at my house again. He answers all my questions not only without hesitation, but with enthusiasm. As far as he is concerned, we're in the process of turning his scheme into reality. At the end, I know the schedules of the inhabitants of the house, their maids, and Reyfon even gives me a detailed map of the layout of the house when I ask where his brother's bedroom is.
For better or worse, Reyfon decides that he should be out during the assassination. Actually, it's for the better.
The next night, I lie on my stomach in the dark, rich carpet soft against my chin. Reyfon graciously left the back door unlocked after he left this evening. I came in, went up two flights of stairs to Theorion's room, or chambers if you will, because it's like a whole pad in here- a big personal bathroom, dining and sitting area, and bedroom. I've been camped under his bed for like two hours, waiting for him to come back, hopefully alone.
I snap into tenseness when I hear whoozy female giggling and a good mooded, but douchey male voice approaching. Figures a fuckboy would be bringing a girl back with him. No matter. I prepared for the possibility of having to dispatch multiple targets quickly and silently, but maybe I should've hidden in the closet. Getting out is going to be awkward.
The door opens. "I wanna see that awesome shower you were telling me about!" The girl says. Theorion replies, "Yeah, well how about I give you a tour?" Their flirty tone and words are obviously telling of plans for a shower fuck, a way to bang that's highly overrated in the movies, but pretty good for me now.
Once they've rather stupidly sexy walked into the bathroom while swaying and groping, I start slipping out from under the bed. The bathroom is further down the wall, to my left. They left the door open, but cannot see me as I siddle along the wall towards it. Before they get in, or even have a chance to scream, I've swung out into the doorway, and fired a shot from my silenced pistol.
The pop goes off, and a bullet zips through the air, hitting its marks with beautiful precision. You see, I caught the love birds in a smooch, the guy's back to me. The bullet punches through the back of his head, and then tears through the front of hers. The blood and matter of two brains splatter, making a rather jarring contrast against the clean white and beige rugs, marble floor, and counter. I doubt very much that those were the kind of fluids they were planning on exchanging tonight.
I look up from their toppled bodies, and damn, that shower is pretty awesome. It's massive for one, and.. ah fuck it; this is not what I'm here for. I walk over to them. They'd make a pretty cute couple, just, not exactly like this. I shuffle through the guy's pockets and pull out his wallet. Very nice. The girl doesn't have anything worthwhile in her skirt pockets, but she's got something in the skirt.
According to Reyfon's info, I should have plenty of time. His sister's out having drinks with friends. His dad is emaciating in the hospital, and his mom is dead. So, I decide to help myself to what Theorion was about to have anyway. I brush the girl's wavy brown hair out of her face. It's sticky with the blood that's pouring out of the hole in her head and dripping down her face. Her hazel eyes are closed, her face didn't have time to contort into horror or surprise, so it's stranglely peaceful despite her undue and random end. She was pretty, well is, for all intents and purposes at the moment.
Ugh, it's like stripping a hundred pound sack of meat. Actually, it's exactly that. The human body is really a pain to move when it's dead weight. Getting my own clothes off only takes like 10 seconds. I stand buck naked in the bathroom with two dead bodies. I was mocking it earlier, but I drag the girl into the walk in shower anyway. I turn it on and warm water sprays from a marble seal's mouth. I flop the chick over the marble shower seat, kneel, and start pumping her from behind. It's only been minutes since she died, so her vag is still very warm.
Once I finish enjoying myself, I turn the shower off, dry myself with a towel, and get dressed again. I check my watch. It's only been 15 minutes since I killed Reyfon's older brother and his squeeze. My head is wonky. I can't remember whether I was supposed to leave the bodies or dispose of them.
I rush back over to the bed, and pull out the three bags that I brought with me. I pillage the house, rummaging through drawers, closets, and cabinets favoring speed only slightly more than precision. My last stop ends up being Reyfon's chambers. My 3rd bag is still empty.
After swiping a couple of snazzy watches and 200 buckaroos from around his room, I check under his bed. Sure enough, there are a couple of chests. They're locked, but I prepared for this. After being pried open with my crowbar, the chests reveal their treasure.
In one of them are various trinkets, an old scarf, a few journals, letters, papers- it seems to be a bunch of sentimentals mixed with important documents. The other contains cash, likely a lot of the money Reyfon was planning on paying to me. Upon looking through the bills appreciatively, something beneath the neatly bundled stacks catches my eye- five gold bars curtained beneath. Oh, I love this boy.
I pack the remaining bag, and just for the heck of it, I throw one of Reyfon's personal journals in. I never considered myself the gossipy sort, but who doesn't find it at least a little entertaining to stumble across the juicy secrets of someone they know? I sling my booty over my shoulders, make sure my mask is in place, and head on out of the house. Trusty Rusty is parked a block away.
I mount the scooter and buzz away into the temperate night. First thing I'll do later is buy a new bike, and a car too. This thing has been reliable, and I know how to fix it up, but I could have to make some serious distance, and I can already feel it slowing beneath me under the weight of my goods.
Reyfon plans to head back into his house, find the horrific scene and call the police. He plans to give an account, enjoy the sympathies, gifts and attention he will get as the victim of such a horrific tragedy, and prosper from here on out as the head of the brewery.
I park my bike at the dirt strip around the back of my little house called the backyard. I dip inside to drop off the bags, clean up, and change clothes. Taking my crowbar with me. Reyfon is hanging around a bar in town. I'm supposed to make an appearance there, so he knows that it has been done, but we're not to interact.
When I enter, he notices me immediately. He's probably been watching the door, scanning every patron that comes in. He turns back to his beer as soon as he sees who it is. Reyfon's eyes are clear; he's likely just been nursing that one drink this whole time. If he was gonna come to the bar as an alibi, then he should've at least made an effort to appear more casual about it, and maybe have brought a friend, and had a good time.
Thankfully, this bar also serves food. So while Reyfon is paying, I order a cheese sandwich and have them put it in paper lunch bag for me. I can leave shortly after he does, without looking too weird for not staying and drinking. I tail behind him as he walks down the street. I can tell he's nervous by the way his glasses constantly seem to need readjusting, and the paranoid glances back that I have to keep dodging.
He veers off eventually, into the shortcut through a patch woods that leads to the backyard of his family's mansion. It's here that I pounce. I remove the crowbar from my toolbelt rush forward. I hear him gasp at the sudden sound of feet rushing towards him. The crowbar hits just as his head finishes swiveling around, and his eyes see his attacker. After the big, dull thud he crumples to the ground, twitching a bit, but barely conscious.
As I bash his skull in, a few thoughts will pass through his brain before it mashes, asking why I've betrayed him. The answer? We are living in a material world, and I am a material boy. Hey, you wanna hear another quote? "People work together when it suits 'em. They're loyal when it suits 'em, love each other when it suits 'em, and they kill each other when it suits 'em." I get it, he didn't. And that's why he couldn't hold onto his life.
Reyfon's blood splatters onto my tattered beige work pants. After I finish and catch my breath, I observe. The face of the only person I ever really hung out with has been crushed into a bloody pulp of flesh that looks like fresh ground beef and bone chips. Frgaments of glass and pieces of the black frame from the young man's familiar glasses are mushed into the mess.
Something must be wrong with me to have such a compulsion, but my dick was out, hard, and being rubbed by my hand before I processed what was happening. My hand.. it's slippery with his blood, and it feels so good like this. I pleasure myself, looking down blankly at the battered corpse, lying on its stomach. I probably wouldn't even be able to tell that it was him if I found him like this.
My white, hot cum bursts forth onto the ground between his legs. I sigh and put my penis away, slightly dizzy from all the exertion of today. Brown leather peeks out from the back pocket of his blue jeans. Like an idiot, he kept his wallet there. I slip it out, take his cash, then throw the wallet onto his body.
I walk back home, mostly through the woods so as to be seen as little as possible. I pack one small bag with a few clothes and hygienics. Four bags carried by one guy on a scooter is pushing it, but I want to leave town right now. Then I realize while packing how suspicious all of this looks. Three members of a rich family in a small town are gruesomely murdered, and the house is robbed.
And me, I suddenly skip town, abandoning my drug business, my house, and my land. Where did I get the money to up and leave all of the sudden, and why would I do that on the night of the murders? I should stay, hide the stolen stuff, and wait out the investigation for a couple weeks to a month. Before leaving, I should tell a few people,
"This town is just getting worse by the year. We've had scuffles in the trailerpark and occasional killings among druggies, but for something like this to happen to the Greyhorns... Even I worry. And Reyfon and I, you know, we went back a few years."
Yeah, something like that should be good. It doesn't come across as too on the nose, and it foreshadows my leaving. Others will leave too after this, I'm sure, because the kind of violence that occurred tonight isn't often heard of here. It'll shake folks, myself included, heh.
So if some gumshoe finds their way around to asking about me, like, "That dealer Beriphitar was a friend of the youngest son's wasn't he? He left soon after, didn't he?" the downtown scrubs will answer, "Looks like even he got worried. He was racking up a little that might'a been worth stealin' himself ya know. Not so tough, just a boy trying to carve out a living in a town that turned out to be rougher than he was ready for."
With that, I put my clothes back. I put the bags of stolen money and valuables into plastic trash bags, then take then out to my garden- on foot mind you, because the noise of the scooter at this hour would an overly obvious deviation from my usual routine.
There would be nothing strange about overturned soil in a garden, especially not with fresh crops on top. When I'm done, the bags are safely hidden under about a foot of dirt. Just so you know, the lawmen won't want to tear this place up anyway because of the drugs. What I'm doing is perfectly legal here.
By the time I get back home, it's the middle of the night. That girl seems even hotter now that I'm remembering her in my tiny shower. My tired brain spins a fantasy of her, Reyfon, and Theorion. Reyfon is sandwiched in the middle, Theorion plowing his dirty asshole from behind while he penetrates the girl's dripping pussy. The three move harder and faster, until the illusion comes to its climax, and my jizz sprays the shower wall.
"Sandwiched" though, that word reminds me that I have a perfect good cheese sandwich just left on the counter. I eat it on the way to bed, and then sleep sweetly. With the day that I had, I'm not sure if I'd be able to tell dream from memory.
I wake up to birds chirping, a sour mouth, and the pleasant brightness that comes from having one's home so close to nature. Then I smile little, when I think of the chaos that must be unfolding uptown. Lawmen like buzzards circling my crime scene, Veralia, distraught, shocked, and hungover, and Reyfon's father- I wonder if the news has made it to his hospital bed? At this point, they might as well spare the old man and let him die in peace if possible.
I climb out of bed, have one of the craft beers that Reyfon gave me for breakfast, and then brush my teeth. Over the next two weeks, I follow my plans. I attend the Greyhorn funerals, tell a few people that I'm thinking about leaving town, and sell my land and house.
The lawmen took me aside once to ask me questions. "Did you see anyone strange around town?" et cetera. My answer was simply, "No Sir."
On the day that I was packing my bags again to get on Trusty Rusty and leave town, a beautiful gift delivered herself right to my door. It was Veralia, Reyfon's suffering brunette sister who'd been becoming increasingly irresistable to me the more I saw of her.
Her entire immediate family was either dead, murdered, or dying. It had become unthinkable for her to even stay in her own house; the emptiness and the memories of what had happened, of what she'd seen there, were too much. I heard she currently lived with an aunt in the next town over, so imagine my surprise to see her at my hovel.
Her eyes were sunken, though puffy from what could have been her hundreth bout of tears, and filled with pain. She looked lost, like so many others who'd come to me, and I so then I knew why she was here. She had to find something good in her overwhelming plight.
"I know", she began quietly and not meeting my eyes, "That my brother used to buy leaves and stuff from you." She dug into her pockets and pulled out some crumpled bills. Veralia stretched the money out to me. "Yes", I said softly and with an air of consideration. "I was closing down shop, but please, come in and you can select what you want from what I still have."
There's hardly any stock remaining, since I lowered prices and had been doing a lot of peddling to get it off my hands, but I'm glad I left some. Turns out, Veralia doesn't know a cow from a cat when it comes to drugs, so when I show her my stuff she just says, "I don't know. Just give me something to... stop it." Her face twitches like she's going to collapse into tears, but she holds back.
Her ignorance doesn't matter anyway, because I was partially lying about the effects and the types of drugs anyway. I dope her up as she asks. The drugs take her mind to another world, while I take her body. She moans and pushes me away weakly, but she barely knows what's going on, and she sure won't remember any of this. I strip off her clothes and pound her. I finger her, stick my dick in her slit and her mouth, and rub it against her thighs, pussy and then her asshole before fucking that too. I roughly grope her breasts, then use her vag to finish, shoving my dick in harder and harder, faster and faster, until she wimpers a little even in her drugged state.
Once I get off, she just lays on my living room carpet by the coffee table, almost completely out of it. I think I'll relax for a while before redressing her, but upon having another look at her perky pair of tits and tight pussy soaked with my semen, I decide I'll have a second helping.
I turn her over and splay her legs before me again, completely exposing her genitals to my salacious gaze. I rub her privates, and roughly violate her asshole with two and then three of my fingers. I push my penis inside her body again. She moans sleepily and her hands reach up to swat around above her as I continue raping her- sometimes anally, sometimes vaginally. Her vision is blurry, I know, so she can hardly see me. Veralia's confused, and I feel her thighs pressing up against my hands as she makes makes feeble attempts to close her legs. I come all over her genitalia and asshole.
I wipe her up and put her clothes back on. I finish packing as I was before she came, hop on my scooter, and leave town. Buzzing down the roads to the north, cool wind blowing at my hair and jacket, cargo over my shoulders- I must say I've never felt this free in my life. I've done just as I've pleased, and now I have thousands of buckaroos in cash, gold, and valuables, and a new life of ahead. Life has finally gone my way.
I'm living my own dream as my own man.

Waking Up in Vegas--Ch. 16
Tumblr media
Chapter 16: Shut Up
Dean, Evening, 10:15 PM
I made sure that Mera was calm before I slipped out of the trainer’s room for my match. She let me dab some cool water on her face, soothe away the puffy redness beneath her eyes. I would gladly have stayed with her through the rest of the night, but she insisted that I head to gorilla and get warmed up. She promised she’d be watching on the monitors.
If I’d had my way, I wouldn’t have been fighting some mid-card tag-team player to fill time on Monday Night Raw. If I’d had my way, I wouldn’t have been defending the Raw tag-team championships beside my brother, Seth Rollins.
If I’d had my way, I would’ve been beating the holy hell out of the man behind Seth Rollins for everything that he’d done to Mera Reynolds—my wife.
But I didn’t have my way, there was no negotiating it with creative. I’d have to playact on camera as if Seth was still the brother I’d always known and loved. I’d learn to be calm for her sake. And I’d take out my rage on anyone they put in front of me.
Mera, Evening, 10:18 PM
I checked my schedule to be sure that there wasn’t anyone I was scheduled to see. When I was sure that my next half hour or so was clear, I slipped out of the trainer’s room and made a quick stop at the bathroom. Dean might have tried to clean me up after my sobbing fit, but I didn’t want anyone to know that I’d been crying. Weakness wasn’t something that Vince McMahon took to very easily.
Monitors were set up in a bank near some of the interview areas. I turned a bucket over and sat down in front of them just as Dean’s music screamed through the arena. Warmth spilled through my entire body when Dean appeared around the LED board, a wicked sort of grin on his face. I hoped that everything that happened hadn’t gotten so far into his head that it messed with his concentration.
I couldn’t stand it if I was the reason Dean lost a match—no matter how small it was. His opponent swept down to the ring, Baron Corbin with his mid-level manager look. In character, he was as smarmy as they come. As a real person, he wasn’t too bad. A little cocky, but manageable. I might have liked him if he wasn’t so full of himself.
The bell rang for the match to begin, and Dean leapt on his opponent with a fury that I’d never seen before. He wasn’t so much wrestling Baron as attempting to destroy him. Dean’s face had gone slightly red, his eyes wild even on camera. My stomach twisted.
Something thumped on the floor next to me. I glanced out of the corner of my eye, surprised and startled to find Seth sitting on another upturned bucket. He seemed to be watching the monitors, but I couldn’t help but feel that he kept watching me as well.
“Wonder why he’s so pissed off tonight,” Seth murmured, running his hand over his hair.
I tried desperately to keep my words calm, even though I knew it was better to not speak to him at all. “None of your business.”
“Shit, you don’t have to be so grumpy,” he grunted.
My leg twitched in frustration. I wanted desperately to keep my attention on Dean and his match. He was my focus—he should be my focus—and whatever Seth Rollins had up his sleeve was nothing to me.
I closed my eyes briefly, snatching at a fragment of a memory. Dean and I in Las Vegas on the night we got married. Dancing in the parking lot of the Little White Wedding Chapel to no music. I remembered his cornflower blue eyes and the way his autumn and mahogany hair looked tousled and wavy.
I latched onto that thought—that moment when we set off on this journey together. No matter what happened, I would always have Dean Ambrose and that was enough.
“Mera,” Seth said after a while. His voice sounded wounded and small. “I think it’s time we had a talk.”
My lungs expanded with a deep breath. Dean whipped across the ring on the monitor, slamming hard into the ring post. I sucked in a gasp, knowing there’d be bruises tomorrow morning and making a mental note to set aside some ice packs to take to the hotel for him. Some Advil or Aleve wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
“What on Earth is there for us to talk about, Seth?” I ground out.
 Seth, Evening, 10:29 PM
At first, I thought she called me Seth because we were at work. It took me a while to realize that that was how she saw me. I wasn’t Colby to her anymore.
And somehow, that was painful, but I couldn’t pinpoint why.
“We used to be friends. Remember?” I asked, giving her a gentle knock with my knee.
Hurt struck me in the chest when she moved away. She didn’t even try to hide her desire to get away from me. I swallowed hard, glanced down at my hands.
“Remember when we were kids—like nine or something—and Brandon locked us in the shed on Mr. Quincy’s property? It was cold as fuck outside and the snow had blocked off the windows.”
Something flashed along her face. I was surprised to find myself wishing that it was something good. This new wave of nostalgia and longing for the old days was enough to twist me into confusing knots. I tried not to look at the gentle curls in her honey-colored hair or the way that she looked so sadly, breathtakingly pretty.
Her lips twitched, almost as if she wanted to smile. I took that as a good sign. “Your dad was so pissed when he found us. I’ve never seen Brandon run so fast than when we showed up on the front porch with your dad right behind us.”
“Your brother never had any sense. Seems to be a family trait.”
The phantom smile disappeared, replaced with a hard frown and a radiating cold.
“Are you at least going to invite me to your second wedding?”
 Dean, Evening, 10:34 PM
My back was throbbing. Baron was a son of a bitch to fight, but he put on a good show. When he realized I was throwing everything at him, he went in with gusto. I knew I’d have a bruise or two in the morning, and I was pretty damn certain that he would, too.
All I could think of was Mera—not for how she could soothe the pain radiating down the center of my back. I craved just being close to her, watching the way that she moved with lithe grace. I longed to be enveloped in the scent that was uniquely her. I wanted to sit in the corner and watch the light play over her honey and fire hair.
Mera Reynolds was the altar at the center of my being. She was the rock upon which I would build the rest of my existence. She was the goddess upon the pedestal at whose feet I knelt to worship. I loved her with every ounce of my soul, every cell in my body, every breath in my lungs.
I rounded the corner and saw the light of my existence sitting in front of the monitors. Everything about her was breathtaking and beautiful.
Except the fact that Seth was a few feet away.
A growl rumbled through my chest. That primal thing in my chest roared with fury at him being so close to her. I couldn’t see her face, but my mind conjured up a thousand scenarios that could have brought her pain or discomfort. The growl rose up my throat, shredded my vocal cords, echoed down the corridor.
Mera looked up at the sound. Her eyes widened as I raced toward them with rage in my veins. Something rattled along the floor as she stood up, nearly jumping out of the way. Seth was on his feet half a second later, but too slow to avoid the straight punch I threw at his jaw. His neck snapped back, rolling toward his left shoulder. He stumbled back a few paces, tripping over whatever Mera had knocked aside.
“You’re a fucking son of a bitch, you know that, Rollins?” I snarled, stomping over to his prone form. He looked up at me from the floor, his hand cupping his jaw.
“What the hell, Dean?” he accused.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Mera with her back pressed up against the wall, watching the whole thing. I dug through my will, doing everything I could to stop myself from going after Seth. I reminded myself that the only thing that mattered was my wife’s happiness—her safety, her comfort, her peace.
One deep breath after another. I turned my back on Seth and crossed the corridor to Mera with a few steps. I moved slowly, gave her space to think before I got too close.
“Are you okay?” I asked in a quiet tone. My fingers itched to touch her, to brush against the soft skin of her cheek, but I held back.
She took a tentative step before she seemed to find herself. Her eyes flashed as she moved. Color boomed on her face. Before I knew it, Mera had swept up in front of me and all but punched me in the chest.
I knew my face bore surprise when I looked down at her. There was an anger that turned her amber eyes to flames. Good God, she was nearly electric with it. It crackled through her hair. It was static that blurred a halo around her body.
“Don’t you ever do that again, Dean Ambrose,” she nearly snarled. “When—if—I need your help, I’ll tell you. Otherwise, just… let me fight on my own.”
I almost didn’t believe what I was hearing. When the words permeated my brain, I couldn’t help it. I started laughing. It wasn’t because I thought it was funny, but because I loved the fire and certainty in her voice. As much as I adored the softness, the fragility of her in the quiet moments when she’s lost in thought, I cherished the strength in her that came out in sparse flashes and glimpses.
Ignoring the fact that Seth was nearby, I reached for her. My fingers slid along the side of her neck, drawing her close enough to press my lips to hers. When I drew away, I was grinning.
           “Yes, ma’am,” I replied with pride. “I’m sorry… if I interrupted something.”
Mera’s eyes moved over my shoulder, looking to where Seth had been. I followed her gaze, surprised to find him still there, his hand still rubbing at his jaw.
“You’re right, Seth,” she said, “we used to be friends. But that was before. I was friends with the guy I grew up with. Whoever you are now, I don’t know who that is. And I’m certainly not friends with him because he’s a selfish asshole.”
I tried not to smirk. I really did. But I couldn’t help it. In less than thirty seconds, she’d given him the perfect verbal smackdown. Pride swelled inside me, smoothed over the anger that had settled in my chest.
Mera reached out and took my hand, threading our fingers together. It was a silent acknowledgement that she was mine and I was hers.
“Let’s go, sweet wife,” I murmured against the top of her head. “Show’s almost over and I need some TLC from a qualified medical professional.”
She blushed and grinned. Whether it was from the endearment or just because, but I’d take it. Seeing her happy was the only thing that mattered.
That and watching her put Seth Rollins in his place.
