SOMEONE ELSE WHOSE FAV GWEN MOMENT IS HER RETCONNING RHYS 🤝🤝🤝 briefly became the joker of my friend group for saying how much I love that scene. it's a delight

ITS A GREAT SCENE they were worried abt leaving it in the ep bc they knew it'd polarize fans + i know a lot of ppl do in fact hate that scene (gwen bashers who cant handle women's wrongs 🙄) but i love it. im a rhys enjoyer + i think he deserves the best AND i love how fucked up gwen treats him, these things can coexist. gwen and rhys are easily the most compelling canon relationship in tw to me just cuz they feel very real - we spend the most time with them and we see their ups and downs so often. i love how they oscillate between lowkey toxic as hell (people always hold gwen to a high standard but there was def a few times rhys made me 😬 over how he talked to her, too) and cute + stable. i love how theyre fucked up too, like with rhys being an everyman they could've easily kept him & gwen's relationship in a very boring uneventful place but no theyre nuanced anyway n i love it.

and with gwen! it's such a good peek into what kind of person she is (/pos - well, /pos in a sense of like 'i don't judge characters for their actions, i judge characters for being boring, so if a character compels me by having a shitty moment THAT'S wonderful'). i love the manipulativeness of it, the selfishness and desperation. gwen's 'tell me im good tell me im good tell me im good' (dee from iasip) moment hfsdjkds. she doesnt need genuine forgiveness (in a sense of rhys going "i know what you did and i forgive you for it"), she just wants empty words to give herself some peace of mind, bc if she actually told him she'd risk losing him and she isn't willing to let him go... i love that. i love it sm.

also interesting that it's featured in an episode about base human nature, about humans being stripped back to what's underneath, specifically the ugly bits - one of the themes of gwen's character is that she's a very "have my cake and eat it, too" sort. she's constantly trying to balance things that aren't compatible, like there's... mmm i can't think of or find a vocabulary word that implies an emotional/relational sort of greed dhsfkj. but that's present with her character as an underlying theme, it's like she spreads herself thin but not necessarily in a way that's detrimental to her? it's like she has this perpetual need to juggle many things just to prove to herself that she can. maybe she needs the stimulation, i dunno. i think it's an interesting quality. i think it's also something she's not necessarily proud of, maybe she feels gluttonous in it, which is why i mention it in the context of the 'combat' episode, where mark harps on and on about how modern men are angry and frustrated but not allowed to be, and how he thinks they should give into that base emotion in order to evolve. gwen does her own version of this, with pride/greed instead of wrath - she gives into her own selfishness, and her character evolves as a result. not for the better, according to some, but i personally find gwen's moral devolution super compelling. (also, on another note, the men feeling justified in giving into their ugly rage even though it's not socially acceptable, and in fact it not being socially acceptable makes them even more interested in doing it - but the woman giving into a cruel instinct but feeling intense guilt and shame for it even though it's a private moment... sounds about right.)

p1- "not much to say" YEAH theres fucking nothing to say about his character because there barely is any. we get the smallest glimpse into his mind and personality and it is entirely warped by the psychosis he is currently experiencing to the point where you cannot accurately extrapolate what he must be like outside of this specific point in time.

cannot stand the majority of p1-lovers for this reason. they love the IDEA of him in their head rather than the character that actually exists!!!

for what he is, hes a great and fascinating element of the game but 11/10? the CHARACTER? his character is *just* the story. he cannot stand alone because of that. you are referring to the story and atmosphere of the game. which is great! its a beautiful work of art! i love it! but youre wrong.

p2- 4.5 out of 10 for p2 fuck off honestly. the only reason given here is "got tired of seeing his design everywhere" uhhh he is from the most popular game in this franchise. he is THE character in the most popular game in the franchise, the only one with any personality, and he is popular because of that. i entirely understand disliking him, but god dislike him because hes a disgusting fucking freak or annoying or whatever like someone i respect would. "4.5/10" he has thousands of times the amount of character as p1. there is so much more you can do with him. because he is an entire character. whereas p1 *is* the story, p2 *is* the gameplay. and you play as him!!

p3- i genuinely cannot comprehend liking p3 more than p2. is it because hes more conventionally attractive? is it because hes more normal? whatever. this rating would stand whatever on its own honestly but paired with the others it drives me insane.

bd- "concept art version was way better" you mean the version from before he had a fucking personality?????!!!!!! man i bought the art book ive seen the concept art he looks exactly the fucking same. he still had the gown. do you mean the only piece of art where he didnt have the gown? the one singular image in which he didnt have the gown, the very same gown which was present throughout the rest of the design process? fuck of

"who gave him that gown? who let him walk outside like that" 1. its a DREAM its a DREAM did you play the game this was revealed in the first minute! even if you just looked at the art it *looks* like a dream because it is one! also the gown is based on the blanket hes sleeping under in the real world and its cute as fuck and such a good detail imo.

hes supposed to look silly sillyness is fucking awesome. this gane franchise is silly. p3 is silly. what do you even want....

and on that note personality-wise he is literally just a cross between p2 and p3.

genuinely convinced this person has NOT played or even looked at the game, and the lack of a rating for alt dude only supports this point.

shtopor- i hate this so much "innocent trans icon angel" "bbg" im having trouble talking about how bad this take is on its own because of how violently disturbing it is to me.

c*rkscrew rules is such a garbage game with a shitty translation i refuse to belive this is your second favorite dude with that description honest to god. characterwise hes fucking whatever. hes fine. i love him so much. but 10/10? with that description? im fucking scared more than anything. i imagine it must be a joke but im so revolted i struggle to parse the purpose of it.

Ohhhhh this is reminding me of this great c!Sam analysis i read on here hopefully I can find it again sometime, which basically said that Sam does a lot of immoral things while also wanting to be just and in the right more than anything else. I was reminded of it bc when I read that I immediately thought it had something to do with a need for validation (and maybe to a certain extend a need for affection?) and it really jumped out during this january 31st 2022 vod because Sam keeps trying to reassure himself that hes not an idiot and once Dream arrives he starts looking to him to reassure him of that. I should say that I dont think that has anything to do with Dream specifically, I think its just because hes the only person who could visit him and hes otherwise completely isolated

Also, like with Tommy during their most recent confrontation, Dream seems to be trying a lot less to actually manipulate Sam into liking him and treating him like a friend that you cant disobey at all costs because otherwise he'll threaten you with eternal torture and is focusing more on just tormenting him. To compare this to Tommys exile, on the very first day Dream was just insulting Tommy but then he immediately went over to being all nice and trying to befriend him (while also yknow, blowing up his stuff), but here he insults Sam on day one and keeps doing it on day two, although he has thrown him a crumb or two on both days. Its too eaely to really tell right now, but this is either him realizing his mistake and trying to change his strategy a bit or him being sloppier because he stopped caring. In case you couldnt tell, Im very much tending toward that last option. I think those few crumbs of "positivity" are either him wanting to deliberately torment Sam more by giving him these little crumbs of goodness which contrast against the torment and make it all the more pronounced, or him just kinda being in the habit of manipulating people and doing stuff like this almost reflexively. One of the many reasons why I like c!Dream so much and why I can get quite defensive and upset about other people disliking and/or misintrepreting him is that I relate to him a lot especially his manipulative tendencies bc I can also be quite shitty and manipulative at times, so like, Ive been there lol. Once you have this habit of attempting to manipulate people into doing what you want, its kinda hard to stop even when manipulating someone isnt even your goal. This is pretty complex and hard to explain but for me its that I often have to concentrate to not do it when Im around adults in particular, because my manipulative tendencies mostly 'come out' when Im in situations that upset me and that I want to leave and most of those involve adults. I would imagine Dream has a similar thing, except instead of his "trigger" being Having To Talk To Adults its like, Being Presented With Someone Vulnerable. Dont really know if that makes a whole lot of sense, I'll probably do a really long c!Dream character analysis once I finish the series where I might try to elaborate on these points/explain them more succinctly

Also Idk, Im not that far into it yet but Im noticing a fixation on trying to get Sam to admit that he was wrong and/or a hypocrite. i dont really have anything to say about that right now but I did think it was interesting. To kinda tie it back into my point about Sam wanting validation and to be seen as just, i guess Sam admitting it was wrong of him to imprison Dream or that hes a hypocrite for imprisoning him could signal him getting malleable/harmless and, since Sam would have to admit it to himself before admitting it to Dream it might damage his mental health a fair bit

I'm not really open about my "whump"??? side of this stuff but like. ive always used it in my stories. when i was younger i was SUPER into it, and i used to roleplay and talk about characters with my friend, it turned into a whole story. For my character the whump has always been there, bc they're pretty damn weak in comparison to his strong af wife. in like multiple ways

anyway ive snuck in so much of my whump and character suffering that the character canonically dies from an illness. it used to be actual sickness (a sneaky way for me to get *this* kink in there) but a friend of hers, whos probably also into whump with writing, made up a different idea. originally i hated it but he made it so the illness he suffers from lasts much longer. making it a slow burning thing where he just gets weaker and weaker over time. and i can play with how he is and how much caretaking he has to go through.

its really fun when i think about it and start drawing out the scenarios in my head. just him being taken care of or hiding things going wrong so his family doesnt worry so much. the characters are king and queen as well, so i make it so that even when very much ill, he will go out of his way to try and help his wife. she is the true queen of the kingdom but thanks to the time period and good ol gender, there are some who don't respect her enough, so he helps. or he will be there to support her and give her what little strength he has left.

him forcing himself to help her and ignoring however he feels is my favorite bit. i love when a character, no matter how shitty they feel, tries their best to help (at least in a physical sense, when its mental that's just too much) and either they fail/push too hard and have to be cared for. or even if they succeed the person their trying to help is like "okay thanks but you fool, you should be resting" and thus they go take care of them. the latter is usually the best

ive even had dreams about the thing happening. specifically when his illness first starts, i had a dream about how it went down and made a small comic of it. it was so perfect and im so glad i had the dream.

OH AND IVE EVEN HAD IT WITH OTHER THINGS I LIKE. whump dreams are fucking amazing.

*when it comes to "kinks", whump is the only thing im actually comfortable drawing and thinking up of when its humans. fun fact also i say "kinks" bc i think whump is just a very interesting style of writing a character. it doesnt feel thaaaat kinky to me persay, just really enjoyable depending on the person. i just like to make ppl feel the pain

Who is Paya i feel like that's a specific Npc i forgot about but u like her so tell

PAYA PAYA MY FREIWND PAYA so paya is impa's granddaughter in BOTW and TOTK. shes in kakariko village and in BOTW she mainly takes care of cleaning that big house impa's located in as well as the heirlooms that sit there. we're told that shes spent her whole life hearing about link from impa and about how impas waiting on them to return so when she first sees him she 1. SCREAMS because she never sees anyone outside of impa's house or kakariko 2. recognizes its link bc she has the sheikah slate 3. barely manages to get links name or her own name out. great first introduction

after that you can interact with her more and its very apparent that shes not used to talking to people much and shes an extremely nervous person. at another point in the game you can read her diary (which is shitty yeah but thats how nintendo likes to do storytelling like this so bear with it) she just outright says she has a massive crush on link. i mean, not outright, bc at first she literally thinks shes sick and when she tries to explain to impa / impa's bodyguards whats wrong they just grin at her lmao. it takes impa explaining it to her for her to be like OH FUCK IM IN LOVE!!!! but the entire diary is also filled with the insistence that she thinks link will never feel the same (she basically says she thinks its because link and zelda are already together) but that shes alright with that and that just seeing him is good enough for her. when one of the heirlooms gets stolen she talks about how unsafe she feels and she asks link to stay by her side for the day and the quest wont continue unless you do this so i take that as a signifyer that link, like. at least cares for paya in some way.

uhhh in totk she becomes chief in place of impa and overcomes a lot of her shyness and whatnot. this time her diary basically talks about how she wants to do whats best for the sheikah and the village and how she wants to take a more active role than impa did even if its not traditional bc its what kakariko needs the most.

i have like a billion headcanons about her and about her and link together but. i will spare you all. for now. OH and heres her official art / model 👍‼️

like idk man i just think shes neat also this fic is worth mentioning bc its so fucking good even if its unfinished its a link character study with a linkpaya subplot and i eat that shit UUUUP. also if u read to the end and look at the notes at the end you may recognize someone there heehee

honestly i just got into hxh and . came across ur blog (this post specifically) & i have so much to say regarding illumi / his character (im sorry you're gonna have to listen 😭🤞) anyways onto why i hate this man:

it's so bad kinning him. like so so bad. i've noticed a repetition in which i aggressively relate to characters in animes who were shitty siblings or have shitty relationships w their siblings (think shigaraki from bnha, tsukishima from haikyuu, kirishima from tokyo ghoul, etc.) and it's ridiculous bc the only way i'd ever have realized i lived in a very dangerous (abusive) environment was practically thru watching these characters in shows do the exact same or similar things i did to my own family. and what my family did to me. and what my parents families did to THEM. & i was in denial for literal Years over this and stopped watching anime for like. weeks afterward bc i just cld not face the idea that what my family did to me was horrible (still am in denial but we dont talk abt that.) its just so bad but its even worse w illumi because he's the eldest & we never actually get to SEE his suffering, we just see the end product (which is an almost puppet-like fucked up human being.)

& the part in ur post abt being unable to be truly mad despite them doing everything wrong and messing up ur childhood - i FELT that. like its insane how we (those who understand the zoldycks) all seem to have collective trauma over our families

But see I think I am personally unable to hate Illumi because, well, I feel so close to him. My kin feels for him are ridiculously high at this point. Like I fully aknowledge that Illumi is a horrible, vile, fucked up, despicable mess of a man and I will never ever defend his actions. He was so ruined by his families behavior and his own trauma he basically turned like them and passed that trauma on his own little brother (Killua), this is terrifying. This is so sad.

But Illumi neing a fucked up mess is also what makes me love him because I think despite everything profoundly bad he did in his life, I still feel sympathy for him.

I have that feeling I would have developped Illumi-like personality traits (extremely manipulative and controlling) if I haven't had so many amazing friends and if I turned out to be way, way, way less naturally kind.

When I say I kin Illumi because "I want to look like him", it obviously does not mean I want to be a massive asshole. What I love and envies in Illumi is probably his whole detached and emotionless behaviour, which I am like 100% sure he developped to cope with his trauma. And he's the eldest, while I am the youngest sibling and I have always hated being the youngest LMAO. Also hhhhh he pretty. Beautiful poor little meow meow.

I truly believe Togashi will end up telling us about Illumis childhood. Like Hisokas childhood I sincerely hope he will never share this with us because I just feel like it would be ruining the whole character, but Illumi? We have to see his childhood.

The day he decides to share this with us, I feel like I am going to have the biggest catharsis moment (tm) ever in my whole life.

Fun fact: I also happen to kin Killua. This is extremely confused in my brain JFJRJJJDJS

i’m going to finally make a post about my Jenny headcanon ideas because no one else in the world understands the way that i see her and im so miserable about it. putting it under a cut because long.

I’ve talked before about how i like the idea that she’s like. reasonably involved with Brighton’s queer community and that she has a pretty nice, stable group of friends consisting mostly of other queer people, and a lot of my other ideas come as kind of an extension of that. I like it as an explanation for her self- confidence, it being something she developed from just having like a strong and reliable social network of people she could trust completely. And I like at as an extension of her narrative function as Sophie’s Rock. Because Sophie's only just navigating what queer identity actually means for her, but Jenny's spent a lot of her life thinking about and coming to terms with her own identity.

BUT ok. to put it very bluntly, i think Jenny has a really shitty relationship with her family. I think she was kicked out for being lesbian when she was 18 (so its in ‘74 lol). and she spent a short while couch surfing before she got scooped up by group of queer people, and she’s kind of just spent the rest of her life in that environment and community. I like that it allows both Jenny and Sophie to have weird family issues, and i think it serves to justify the fact that Sophie had never talked with Jenny about her family stuff pre-BunnyFarm. Both of them hate talking about family shit, so it never came up. I also REALLY like the idea of Sophie like. getting super in her own head feeling like she’s the Only Person In The World who is Fucked Up and Traumatized as a result of like. the complete lack of understanding she got from the adults around her in the aftermath of her family’s disappearances. So as an adult now she’s super convinced that she's the only person who will ever understand what its like to be suffering this kind of profound hurt. and she's convinced herself that she cant ever let anybody know how fucked up she is and she has to always pretend to be the best possible version of herself.

And she’s especially fixated on this idea she has that Jenny specifically is Normal. that Jenny is an example of a Normal Person with Nothing Wrong With Them, because she can’t imagine the idea of someone who’s gone through something horrible and come out on the other side of it seeming just fine. So she doubles down on this idea that she has to maintain whatever perception Jenny has of her or else Jenny will realize she’s Weird and Traumatized and not worth the trouble. Because that sets up the opportunity for Sophie to find out that, no, Jenny's experienced some pretty serious hardship, too. And the only reason she came out okay was because she let herself rely on other people when she was her most vulnerable. And that’s the first time Sophie really seriously considers the idea of letting someone in to help her through her problems. Even if she isn’t completely ready to do that yet.

And like! I’m trying really hard to make it clear that this isn’t just some lame angsty headcannon where i give Jenny kinda a shitty childhood for no good reason. I think this idea is genuinely narratively and thematically compelling and I think it conceptually strengthens the relationships these characters have with each other. And I do think it’s at least partially justified by Jenny’s actions? Thinking specifically about the old /sophiewalten page where Sophie brings up her dad having anger issues and the first thing Jenny thinks to ask was if that meant he was abusive. or like the old /jennyletterson page where Jenny’s first response to Sophie saying she hasn’t seen her family in years is just “oh damn” which is a hilariously lame and terrible response, and I like to joke that she said that because she assumed it was because Sophie is gay lol.

But just.aaugh i like this idea. i like it so much more than the idea that Jenny really IS just a Completely Normal Person who’s helping her Fucked Up and Traumatized girlfriend through her problems. Like that feels so strange and voyeuristic to me. I especially like the idea of Sophie being someone who was completely denied the opportunity to properly process her own trauma, while Jenny is someone who was able to kinda overcome and come to terms with her trauma with a lot of help and hard work. And Sophie is able to feel Humanized and Understood in seeing another person (a person she cares very deeply about) also struggle with familial trauma, and she suddenly feels hopeful for a future version of herself that never existed in her mind before who’s been able to meaningfully heal and continue with life and learn to start enjoying it. it is just a compelling idea to me!! I like to give jenny problems

Practice had just ended and you were helping the team clean out the gym, before packing and heading out to go home.

“Excuse me Y/n” You hear a soft and calm voice calling from behind you. Turning your head you make eye contact with Kita who barely a few feet away from you

“Kita-san! ” You turn to face him, your hands grabbing onto the straps of your backpack. “May I help you?” You ask giving a sincere smile.

“I’m fine, but there is something I want to give you before you leave” He lifts his left hand from his back, now using his right to connect and grab the envelope with both hands.

“Happy Chinese New Year” He wishes as he extends and offers you the red envelope.

Blushing furiously, you accept it with both your hands and give him your most heartfelt thanks.

Arriving home, you open the red envelope curious. Your soul leaves your body the moment you see good old Benjamin Franklin on the $100 note.

“Kita-san holy fuck.” You cry in shock. Thinking of how you’re gonna thank him.

Ren Omimi:

- Envelope’s square shaped and plain af

- it’s just red with “lucky money” in gold or sum

- He too is very generous

- Gives u $50

- Also hands it to you with both hands

You sit in the gym with your clip board in hand, taking notes of the other players until you feel a presence approach you from your left side.

“Y/n” The deep voice says. You turn to see Omimi’s shadow towering over you, jesus christ this man’s so goddamn tall. “Yes Omimi?” You greet him cheerfully.

The man says not a word, but pulls out a red envelope, handing it to you with both hands.

Your brain short circuits, confused before he gives a nod. Sudden realization takes place, it’s for you. “Omimi!” You cry, setting down the clip board and taking the red envelope from his hands. Thanking him endlessly before he leaves to get back to practice.

As he turns to walk away, you grab your clip board again, shielding yourself opening the red envelope curious. ‘50$?!’ You scream internally.

Running after Omimi, you tackle him from behind giving him a hug, your face buried into his shirt. “Xiexie” You muffled into his jersey.

Aran Ojiro:

- gets you a very fancy envelope

- Like the ones that isn’t sold in packs when u go to the chinese market

- Specifically the ones made from silk and has a jade ring attached

- He gets u ONE LIKE O N E THAT ONE SPECIFIC DESIGN (pls i sound crazy i’ll just attache the image so u kno what im talking abt)

- He wasnt sure how much to put inside so he gives u $40

- He tries to remember how to say happy new year to you and pronounces it perfectly

“Y/N!” You hear someone yell from behind you as you were walking home. Turning you see Aran running to you, trying to catch up.

“Aran?” You run to meet him halfway.

Aran pauses and takes a few breathes before grabbing his backpack and grabbing something from inside.

He pulls out a beautifully crafted silk red envelope pouch with a tassel and jade ring tied to the front.

You stand there completely flustered and frozen.

He looks down, the envelope in both his hands offering it out to you.

“恭喜發財 (gōng xǐ fā cái)” He says perfectly, the sunset hitting his face.

Akagi Michinari:

- Cute bb would give u the cutest fucking envelope

- Probably w hello kitty on it

- He gives you a $2 bill

- Shiiiii he knows whats up, that shit lucky and rare

- He’d hand it to u while giving u a back hug

“Y/n!!!” Before you can turn around, a heavy weight drags you down from behind. “A-Akagi-san?!” You yelp in surprise.

He stays cling onto you from behind as you try to gain balance. Hearing him let out a soft chuckle. “Here you go!” He says, his arms going around your shoulders to shove the super cute Hello Kitty li xi in your face.

You take a second to process what he had just given you to face. “AKAGI!!” You take it as he hops off your back. Then turning around to smother him into a hug. Giving him little cheek kisses.

Ginjima

- I love him, he would give u a cute envelope too

- Like with a little cartoon ox character on it

- With like lil horns sticking out

- U get the idea

- Gives u $10 but in $2 bills

You sit with the Miya twins and Suna during lunch, scanning around the cafeteria trying to find Ginjima, usually he’d be with you guys.

As you were about to ask-speak of the devil.

“Y/n-chan” He immediately sits beside you, placing his tray of food down.

“This is for you” He reveals the cutest red envelope with a cartoon cow on it, handing it to you flustered. His cheeks bursting red.

You sit and stare for a second, you start to blush feeling embarrassed. Slowly taking it from his hands, you give him a quiet ‘thank you’ before returning to your meal.

Unsure of what to do, before going back into your meal, you quickly turn your head planting a kiss to his cheek.

Osamu, Suna and Atsumu watched, their jaw dropped as Ginjima begins to turn into his own red envelope. Before you quickly place your face in your palms.

Atsumu Miya:

- This mfer would give the flashiest one

- Like you kno the ones that are so colorful and has like

- W those shitty knock-off characters from cartoons

You sit at your desk, it’s so early in the morning and your parents had woken you up early to help prepare some cooking essentials for tonight’s dinner.

As you were about to doze off to sleep, you hear a CLACK against your desk, immediately waking you up and having you face up.

Just inches away was Atsumu’s face, that lil smirk oh how you just wanna-

You look down seeing the red envelope he placed on your desk.

“CHUC MUNG NAM MOIIIIIII” he greets dragging out the “i” it’s like he didn’t even try to pronounce the greeting correctly. He ruffles your hair and gives another warm smile.

You look back up to him, blushing before greeting back. “Ah, chúc mừng năm mới ‘Tsumu.”

Atsumu quirks his eyebrow staring back down at you. “I’m pretty sure you said it wrong.” He says before walking off to his desk.

You sit there fucking flabbergasted. ‘What the fuck?’ You blink and turn your attention back down to your desk. Looking at the envelope you cringe. ‘It’s so bright...’ you internally think.

Osamu Miya:

- He gives you the basic basic red envelope

- He was running late and didnt have time to stop by the bank, he wanted to be extra and give you $20 in $2 bills.

- So he just gives you a $20 bill.

- When he hands it to u, u notice its all bumpy

- Ur feeling around the envelope and theirs something else inside than just money

- U open and theres lucky candy stuffed inside

“Good-morningggggg” You turn to look up from your desk, seeing the younger twin walk in after his brother. He looks down at you, then to your desk seeing the red envelope his brother gave you.

He cringes with you, before pulling out another, handing it to you.

“Happy Tết cutie” He greets. You thank him and greet him back as you take the envelope, you realize how bumpy and lumpy it is.

You look back up to Osamu, he’s waiting for you to open it. You open it and out drops like 7 pieces of lucky candy.

You look back up to him in confusion before he swoops in and takes back the 7 pieces, unwrapping them all at once and shoving them into his mouth.

Chewing, he winks at you before walking away to his seat. You can hear the audible crunch coming from the hard as fuck candy as he walks away.

Suna Rintarou:

- My guy doesnt even give you a red envelope

- He straight up just gives you cash

- Drops it on your desk and leaves

…

- Im jk he would come back and be like “sike u thought”

- Pulls out a red envelope, cute but has one of the most stupidest fucking design

You listen to the crunching of Osamu’s poor teeth grinding against the lucky candy before-

“Yo” Before having the time to look up, you hear a slap against your desk as Suna begins to turn to walk away. You look down to see a $50 bill on your desk.

You turn to look at him, he stares at you for a second before walking away.

???

He comes back to you after settling his bag down.

He takes the $50 on your desk and slips it into the red envelope now in his hands. After sliding it in he brings the envelope to his mouth and begins to lick the ends as he seductively looks at you before folding the paper in.

You watch him in disgust suna baby you don’t have to lick the ends of the red envelope that’s not how they work. He sets the red envelope back on your desk, his head coming closer to yours, enough for you to feel his breath against you.

He brings his mouth over to your ear before whispering in a husky voice “Happy Lunar New Year đẹp gái qua~” Before pulling away and walking to his desk like nothing happened.

You sit there absolutely shaken, until you look down to see the red envelope he left. Jesus fuck what the hell is that thing.

hello anon my beloved, I am in a bad mood so you will be receiving a passionate, yet lowkey of pissy rant about why villainizing bakugou makes me wanna vomit and its NOT just because I'm a dumbass kinnie :)

tws: child abuse (emotional and physical), near death expierences, bullying, kidnapping, suffocation, lots of trauma in general tbh. if you've seen bnha then basically just keep all the general triggering plot stuff in mind incase i missed any warnings

also, note: I havent caught up on bnha in a minute, I'm at like the start of the war arc but I barely remember shit there tbh so like. probs missing new stuff. also bnha spoiler warnings lol

so, for starters, the homie bakugou has like,, a good handful of issues that come from his childhood that explain why he's an ass. he was always praised and never actually reprimanded for being a twat which led to him having a huge ego that ended up fucking him over majorly. this ego was something that his mother acknowledged him having, but literally didnt try to fix it with anything other than violence. see here:

like, instead of trying to help him, she hits and insults him, which is probably what led to his weird inferiority/superiority complex. being constantly told by others that you're outstanding and one day you'll be a top hero because you're rude and aggressive and then going home and being hit by your mother for those exact same behaviors is bound to fucking confuse a child.

so like, now that we've established that its definetly canon that his mother (parents? I think he said parents at some point but masaru doesn't seem like the type so 🤷) hits him though we don't know how much or how often (though if bakugou was as much of a little shit back then ((which as far as we've seen- he was)) then it was probably often), lets talk about how regardless of all that 1) hitting your kids as "discipline" not only doesn't work but is abusive lol like idc if it's spanking/popping them on the mouth for talking shit, slapping them across the face "on occasion", etc. shits not okay 2) hitting your kids!!!! does not work!!!!!!!! it is literally PROVEN not to work!!!!!!!! hitting a child who has done something wrong doesnt teach them to stop doing something it teaches them to be scared of you, which will cause the child to withdraw, removing part of their support system (assuming said abusive parents would even offer that up) and will most likely lead to them thinking they're a bad person, not that their actions were bad, which are two different things. so, ya know, that would clearly have an effect on a kid. like, as someone with a mother who reminds me all too much of mitsuki: I have acted like a complete shitbag and taken my anger out on people to feel better in the past because of the way my mother treated me. though it was nowhere near what bakugou did, I still know first fucking hand what a mother hitting and insulting her child will do, especially if they have no proper outlet for that (friends, a safe place to vent) which bakugou never fucking had.

theres also the fact that just talking to your kid the way mitsuki does (saying it's his fault he was kidnapped because he's weak, all while hitting him) is not??? okay?????? ive seen people arguing that this was just a joke in poor taste but like her son was KIDNAPPED and even if it was a "joke" there's literally NO WAY that would EVER?? BE FUNNY??????? she just sounds like the kind of parent who at the very least says shit without thinking that would traumatize bakugou (because being told right after being kidnapped it's your fucking fault by your mother is absolutely traumatizing) but it comes across as her being emotionally abusive.

mitsukis character as a whole comes across as a shitty mom who doesn't realize she's a shitty mom and thinks bakugou being an ass isn't at least partially her fault even though she's admitted to realizing he has always had an ego problem and doing nothing to fix it except for hitting and yelling which obviously did nothing but make him just as loud and violent as she is.

this is obviously not the entire reason why he's a dick but he was never properly taught that the shit he was doing wasn't okay and people not stopping it and/or praising him endlessly even tho he was a bully is basically the same as encouraging it, thank you very much.

moving on from that, let's talk about bakugous other traumas and how he naturally responds to them. hint: it's with either full blown panic or a fight response (verbal or physical, though usually physical. also sometimes it's the panic followed by the fight response.)

so far in bnha (keep in mind that I am not caught up, I've only read up to the beginning of the war arc and i barely remember those bits so) bakugou has...

nearly died via sludge villain (he was unable to move and was being suffocated to death- keep this in mind)

lost for the first time ever and against deku of all people (this nearly sent him into a full blown panic attack, likely because of that sexy little inferiority/superiority complex combo. think of this as like. gifted kid burnout lite. he has always been the best of the best and now suddenly he is being beaten by somebody who has always been weaker than him, which immediately makes him start thinking he was never actually that good, he's actually a fucking failure, a goddamn fraud)

won the sports festival by default (bakugou counts this as yet another failure because todoroki didnt try his best. had bakugou lost to todoroki full strength, he would've taken 2nd place with a bit of bitching, but he still wouldve taken it rather than refuse the medal as it would be a reminder that he failed. instead of accepting that like UA shouldve, the staff chained and muzzled him on live television and then had all might, his fucking idol, force the medal into his mouth. remember the sludge villain incident and how he couldnt move and was suffocating to death? yeah.)

been kidnapped because of the way he reacted to winning during the sports festival (he was aggressive and tried to refuse the medal because he felt he didnt deserve it and was then retraumatized by being chained up and muzzled. his "villainous attitude" was a fucking trauma response, do not tell me otherwise)

was then chained up once again by the LOV after being kidnapped,,, do we see the "retraumatize bkg" theme yet?

"ended all might" (he literally blames himself for all mights retirement because had he just not have been weak, all might wouldve had more time, right?)

my point with all of these is that bakugou has been severely traumatized and has then had his trauma responses (aggression, fight) used to further demonize him. not all people with trauma react the fucking same and the way the fandom just refuses to acknowledge anger as a valid form of trauma response is gross as hell.

moving away from that topic, bakugou has literally never had any actual friends, they all just used him and didn't care about him which absolutely will fuck up a kid, especially one who already has all that other shit going on. bakugou deadass never had a support system or people to help him grow as a person, let alone properly work through his fucking emotions so it's not surprising that he would take out his bullshit on the one person who tried to help him especially considering he saw dekus actions as him thinking he was weak. bakugou was raised to not seek help, he thought somebody strong shouldnt ever need it, so for somebody like deku (who bakugou percieved as weak and helpless already) to offer up help? deku must obviously think bakugou is even weaker than him, what other explanation could their possibly be!

speaking of which, there's his heaps of insecurities that he basically hid by being a twat and bullying others for most of his life. kid was so insecure he bullied deku for fucking years cause he thought deku looked down on him, thought he was better than him, etc. and that only got worse bc his idol then decided to take deku in, train him and even give him his quirk. there's probably some shit im missing but still he's got issues and always has had issues. that being said, he's actually improving and working them out now which is what makes him a really good, interesting character. it's also nice to see a character who is a dick without some tragic backstory (like his backstory is sad but its not the classic "my family was fucking slaughtered and i turned into a raging bitch who murders people" type shit) bc that rarely happens and it's like most assholes don't actually have a story like that they're just assholes lol

now lets talk improvement! lil bitch has been getting better since he got into UA and im so happy abt it!! he had a rough start what with deku suddenly having a quirk and all but like he is really improving now and it highkey shows that bakugou just mostly needed people who 1) didn't constantly praise him and actually criticized him instead 2) actually fucking punished him doing stupid shit and 3) some motherfucking friends

Since going to UA he's gotten actually feedback from teachers about his weaknesses and how to get stronger, he's lost against others, hes been told he has a shit attitude and is a dick, told he should be nicer and leave deku alone, etc etc. He hasn't gotten in trouble too much with teachers but others give him shit for what he does and aizawa has punished him too, while still acknowledging that bakugou is an amazing and dedicated student, something which no one else had done up til that point. and uh???? homie actually has friends who like,,, don't use him and also call him out when he's a dick. like specifically kirishima has done this shit and him and bakugous relationship is clearly very healthy and beneficial for the both of them. makes me feel all happy n shit, ya know

bottom line is: while it is absolutely valid to dislike or even hate bakugou because he is a massively flawed person who has been very cruel to others, villainizing him for the way he acts which in large part seems to be from a lack of guidance, a shitty mother and heavy amounts of trauma, is fucking awful. his actions cannot be fucking excused, he needs to apologize and continue to grow, but he is also a fucking teenager, who is just now being told that the way he acts is unacceptable by people who dont fucking abuse him (and I swear to god if any people who think mitsuki isnt abusive interact with this fucking post I will fullstop hardblock you, I do not fucking care) and actually treat him like a normal person instead of some prodigy child or someone who needs to be fixed.

people are free to debate my points or whatever bc I know some of this stuff is up to interpretation but like. dni if you're just here to say you hate bakugou for xyz reason or that he's irredeemable. also especially dni if you compare him to fucking endeavor yall bitches make me gag.

Do you have any hopes for the season finale? I saw in another ask, you described the dynamic between rick and morty this season as "very weak, distant, and downright frankly boring" and I completely agree with you! I hope that, because this is most we'll see rick and morty interacting this season, it'll have at least a few moments of what makes their dynamic so interesting to watch.

(Ok i started airing my grievances with this season, which ended up being... long, so skip this paragraph (starting at / / /) to get to my thoughts on the finale)

Oh gosh I remember that ask (I think-). And yeah, maybe I'm being a bit overly critical. I'll probably look back on this season with retrospect, and a kinder, fonder view. Ik androgynousblackbox (think thats right) made a great point about it being the season FOR rickorty shippers. And sure, I agree on some bits, like Rick acting all pissy and partying the way you would if your ex got with someone new in the planetina ep. Overall though, i think my problem lies in that I was enjoying more individual moments than episodes themselves, especially the middle three. For example- Amortycan Grickfitti. Like, I really liked the idea of the Ship getting on a crazy adventure with Summer and Morty (and Chutback). I like the idea of a Beth-Jerry-Rick adventure. But put together, it's just kinda... meh? You know? I liked the first half of the Thanksgiving special... but it kinda dragged on after that. I get that they want to give other characters (particularly female ones) more attention, which is completely understandable and i encourage it(!) but I can't help but find it underwhelming. Like, Summer in the voltron ep was like- girl how are you STILL vying for Rick's attention! He's the worst! Haven't we done this already? (I will say though I ADORE how far Beth has come, props to her for continuing to seeing through her dad's BS. I was worried the character would relapse into a more typical s1/s2 Beth, and I'm glad she didn't). Some of these plots, funnily enough, seem more fitting of the comics (they actually had a voltron parody already). Fun and entertaining for two or three-something issues, not so much a 22 minute episode. i think most of my complaints come from the dynamic between our titular characters- ok, I know I'm very biased (I mean you can see it), but I came to the show primarily for their relationship. It doesn't even feel drama-fueled, just that they kinda... can't be arsed. I'm torn because on the one hand, they're unhealthily codependent and this separation is probably a good thing, but on the other... it doesn't feel natural? I'm not sure if that's the right word- it's like, season 4 had them practically joint at the hip, but all that's suddenly flung out the window. It just kinda feels like this "i got better things to do" vibe from both of them and its strange. The only time they both got a solo adventure (I'm classifying "solo" as an adventure where they spent a significantly large portion of time together, without the other family members) was in the sperm ep and Thanksgiving ep. And, well, in the Thanksgiving ep Morty felt like a side character in his own show, and the sperm ep... um. Yeah. I don't think it's AS bad as people were saying, but I was cringing the whole time (the second hand embarrassment for Morty was so strong I had to turn off the episode multiple times and return to it. It's just like- godammit MORTY). And I think there's good reason those two seemed to be the most disliked episodes overall. They're the ones RaM spend the most time together and it's... meh. Meh? Meh. I don't mean to say the season overall is bad (it has loads of good points, and its amazing for Smith family as a whole) just that if we're talking specifically about the dynamic between these two? Yeah, I wouldn't recommend a single episode from this season so far to use as an example of their relationship.

There's one thing this season has been pretty good at, though. And it's showing us what happens when Rick is alone.

And that brings me to the finale.

"Who is Rick without Morty?"

Well... we already know the answer to that. Pathetic. Sad. Lonely.

This season has been phenomenal in humbling Rick. (And trust me I'm happy for it- every time someone beats the crap outta this shitty old man I'm like YES!!! IT'S WHAT HE DESERVES!). Ep 1 had his "nemesis" clearly besting him, ep 2 had Beth making constant digs (love her) and overall pointing out his extreme callousness and cruelty towards even himself(ves). Ep 3- when Morty shows interest in a girl and ditches him (like seriously it's not like he's moving out, chill) he immediately goes on a bender and develops a deep attachment to the first person he can (wearing yellow, funnily enough). Ep 4, he devotes himself to becoming an "honest man" for his new child, only for it to instantly be taken away from him. Ep 5 highlights how RICK is the asshole for making fun of and taking advantage of someone well-meaning and honest, if "simple", and how literally not cool that is. Ep 6 has his crazy rivalry with the president, and they both get smacked down a couple pegs for that. Ep 7 shows what happens when he allows himself to get carried away, and that he can end up driving everyone else away in the process (lucky they still wanted to save his ass when he needed them). And episode 8? Hooooo boy. Episode. 8. We see a direct parallel in Birdperson with Morty, and the whole "Rick and [insert] 100 years!" Rick has few people he cares about, arguably only one or two that he truly devotes himself to, but when he does, boy does he go HARD. We see younger Rick, optimistic, energetic, friendly and hopeful. And we see all of that crushed in minutes. Rick is desperate for a companion, someone to see the stars with. He needs someone there, someone he can trust and rely on to stay. Someone like Morty. So without Morty, who is Rick?

No one.

And the thing is, Morty doesn't need Rick anymore. Not like Rick needs him. In season 1, Morty was this bright-eyed kid who was new to the cosmos and the multiverse, who needed his grandpa there with him as they explored all these places together. But that's not him anymore. That's not them.

The promo has Morty using the portal gun to go somewhere w/o Rick's permission (i like to think it's boob world lol). It doesn't matter to me as much where he's going, as much as he's doing it alone. He doesn't just not need Rick there, he doesn't want him.

(Also correct me if im wrong but I've missed that sweet portal gun so much. I think the last ep was like- the first time this season we saw it).

Morty's response to Rick? "Replace me!". And wow. Wow. WOW. Morty doesn't give a FUCK! I think Rick thinks that because he's so smart, that he can offer so much, that Morty will come crawling back, and I don't think he will.

Hopes for the finale! Hmm. I mean, I definitely hope "evil" Morty makes a reappearance, haha. I think we all do tbh ;). I want to see some Morty development too, this season has been very Rick-centric (not that there's anything wrong with that!) so I wanna see what's in store for Our Boy. I really hope we get to see the Citadel again, and see the state it's in, but I doubt it. We know something super big is in store, it's just a question of what? Other hopes I have is some Summer + Beth action (please let them team up Im BEGGING) and Jerry too ahaha. I'd love if some other side characters made an appearance as well. Oh- I'm definitely expecting a dramatic cliffhanger at the end of the first half leading to the second half, with the kind of angsty music that leads into the credits (pls that shit is so good (OH WAIT imagine if it was like, for the damaged coda, but like- the chopin version or smth so it could be more subtle maybe bruhhhh)). Ok haha, maybe that's asking too much, the writers made it clear in the story train ep that they weren't gonna do that big dramatic showdown (... unless 👀). Oh, I'd also love some Premium Angst too, like someone getting kidnapped/nearly dying (like ACTUALLY nearly dying). These stakes better be so damn high I could spear a man on them! OH, also I remember androgynousblackbox (is that right? I hope it is) mentioned something along the lines that they could be driving Rick and Morty apart this season in order to have them come back together stronger than ever in an explosive finale, which, I'm strongly hoping for myself.

CHILE ANYWAYS....on with it

Tenya sat on the large grey couch in the living room of your new home. The television was turned on to the news station, the volume down to almost silent as he looked from the television screen where a story about Midoriya was playing down to the small white blanket that sat in his arms. Tenya smiled, carefully running a finger over one of the baby’s soft tan chubby cheeks as the little one let out a small gurgle, moving closer to his father’s touch. His usually serious gaze then turned to look at you, as you snuggled into his side the both of you watching your tiny baby sleep. You were in one of Tenya’s large sweatshirts and a pair of sweatpants, the warmth and the faint smell of his cologne were comforting.

It had been two weeks since you had given birth to your baby, a son you decided to name Tenzen. When you had told your husband that you wanted to use the first syllable of his name for your son’s, he almost started crying out of pride. And now he couldn’t wait to show you both off to his friends, unbelievably proud of you for your strength and for bringing your son into the world. The small baby began growing fussy, opening his eyes to reveal dark blueish grey eyes, just like his father’s. “Don’t cry Tenzen-kun. What’s wrong?” Iida asked softly, his eyes quickly searching over the baby to analyze the problem. “Are you hungry?”

“He can’t be yet, he ate like 15 minutes ago.” You added, “maybe he needs to be changed?” Tenya lifted the small baby, his face quickly morphing into a frown.

“He needs to be changed.” Iida agreed. “I’ll take care of it.” You let out a sigh, even though it had been two weeks, your body was still tired and you couldn’t help but love how hands on your husband was because it gave you time to rest.

“I’m going to jump in the shower.” You said, passing the nursery on your way to your master bedroom to freshen up before your friends came over. After your shower, you pulled on a simple long sleeve t-shirt and a pair of leggings stopping to look at yourself in the mirror.

Your body had changed some since you had been a student at UA and even since before you had had your son. Though you had never been a stick, at least that’s what Tenya called it, you hadn’t really been self conscious about it until now. Though Tenya constantly told you that you were beautiful and he didn’t want a twig for a wife. Sometimes he would absentmindedly trace your stretch marks as if they were tattoos, telling you that he loved each and every single of them because they made you you. You stepped away from the mirror, reminding yourself that you were a BEAUTIFUL STRONG BLACK WOMAN and a queen and anyone who said otherwise was stupid as fuck, before returning back to the living room.

“I hope you continue to be a good boy for your mother. She’s an amazing woman, you know. She’s one of the kindest and strongest people I know, you and I both got very lucky and she’s obviously the most beautiful woman, I’ve ever met. I hope your personality is like hers.” You stopped in the hallway, hearing Tenya talk to your son. “Anyways, a lot of people are very excited to meet you, Tenzen, that’s why I put you in your favorite outfit.” He said. You knew that the supposed ‘favorite outfit’ was actually a black baby onesie with a cartoon Ingenium on the front, you had gotten it as a joke...apparently not so much of a joke anymore. You walked into the room from your spot in the hallway as the doorbell rang, Iida handing you your son who made little gurgling and cooing noises as he latched onto one of your fingers with one of his tiny hands.

“Tenya! (y/n)! You had the baby!” Mina rushed in excitedly, Bakugou, Denki, Kirishima, Midoriya, Todoroki, Tsuyu, and Uraraka walked in afterwards, Jirou being out of town visiting some relatives. After you had transferred to UA in 2nd year, you had been accepted into the Bakusquad while he had been in the Dekusquad.

“Hey Mina.” You smiled widely, happy to see your friends as Tenzen started to grow fussy at the loud noise, standing up to hug one of your best friends as the baby gave her a judgemental stare.

“He’s so cute!” Uraraka, Mina, and Tsuyu cooed as they gathered around, eager to watch the little baby in your arms.

“Do you want to hold him?” You asked as they all nodded quickly. You laughed, passing Tenzen to Mina as everyone sat around the room, talking and laughing.

“He doesn’t even look like you, Dumbass.” Bakugou remarked, holding the little boy, hiding his smile as your son grabbed his finger. “Tch, he’s cute or whatever.” Bakugou admitted before passing him to Kirishima and Denki, a proud smile on both you and Tenya’s faces.

Bakugou hadn’t been wrong. Your son had gotten most of his looks from his father, sharing the same eye color and shape and same smile among other things. While he had gotten his lips and hair type from you. His skin tone was a shade or two lighter than yours and his hair was one shade of blue lighter than his father’s.

“He obviously likes me the most. I’m his favorite uncle, I already know it.” Kirishima beamed watching as the little baby seemed to smile up at him.

“That’s fucking dumb and you know it, Shitty hair. It’s obvious it isn’t any of you.” Bakugou replied, rolling his crimson eyes and eyeing the baby. He didn’t mind holding your son, Hope he isn’t as much of a narc as his dad. Bakugou thought.

“Watch your language in front of my son!” Iida scolded, shooting an icy glare at the hothead who simply tched.

You laughed observing everyone from where you sat, happy that your best friends had met your little boy and he hadn’t peed or thrown up on them...yet.

ok say hello to my insanely new oc who ive made entirely to be a villain who is still an excellent adult and a decent parent, probably. cares too much abt kids. think reigen mob psycho with a drop or two of milla. worked under Nick From The Mailroom and was actually in on his scheme.

has always been rather cold and brash towards adults, but is more caring towards kids. in my brain he has a brooklyn type accent? rough and tumble, walks around without a tie, yknow? they keep him cause he sorts mail real good, though.

(added a read more because this got INSANELY LONG AKSKSK i spent like an hr on this h)

he was a delugeionist, but only because he kinda just wanted to rip the world apart a little; lysandre vibes, thinks a lot of it is scum and needs to go. thinks the *psychonauts* are scum and need to go. hes psychic but suppressed it, think aquato parents but extra toxic about it, and straight up just saying being psychic is unnatural. wouldnt go to loboto parent lengths tho. so he adopted that thought of 'being psychic is unnatural and wrong', which contributed to a lot of self hate that was never learned out. likely, he realizes hes a shitty person and thinks he needs to go too. so like...yknow hank, dbh? kinda the vibe im gettin right now. way more formal, of course, and while usually gruff, is more polite when its needed; can and *will* beat the shit out of you verbally in a factual way, though, and can talk more street-lingo if hes talkin to real thugs. (probably winged it on his own after failing college or smth, hes got the vibes.)

anyways, its this plot where he slinks off and starts planting mistrust in the psychonauts or something. and inevitably he just...shows up and starts kidnapping people. dismantling things from the inside and all that. he left and formed a group who also hated psychics at some point, likely friends of his parents and friends of friends, all from his hometown. all of them fight *insanely* dirty, and a lot of them are insanely vulgar. the kids are supposed to be kept away.

but theres a line to follow here.

this man is a fold to raz. hates the psychonauts, hates being psychic, adopted his parent's hate of psychics, hates the *world.* raz is young and unburdened and unjaded...mostly. hes not the shock of water some young characters can be when it comes to being the foils of other characters; think steven with a villain or something, right? but raz is sassy and a little jaded, and not total sunshine positivity.

hes a child this man could look down on and not be immediately annoyed by, who is worried by yet respects raz's realization of the world as it is, however little that is.

and yet raz is still his foil. he still mostly loves the psychonauts, despite it all, he loves being psychic, for the most part, he dodged adopting his parents previous values, he still seems to have an even view of the world as a whole.

raz is jaded, if only a little, but he moved past it and accepted that things could still be bright. this man is jaded, but he stayed in his stormclouds, never looked for the sun.

ok where. was i. RIGHT ok so. at the beginning of this...story? the man finds raz being talked down to by one of the office workers; someone with weak psychic powers whos insanely jealous of his prowess. an adult who envies the young prodigy. and theyre giving him some insane task to do, like cleaning all of the closets within the hour, but hes saved the world twice, so he smiles and nods along, because he said he would help around the motherlobe, and this adult is asking him to do something that seems simple enough.

and this guy, internally, goes 'bitch.' for a good long second bc 1. dude even if you envy a kid, kinda fucked to show that?? not their fault 2. WHY are you asking a 10 year old to do that. why is there a 10 year old here. holy shit thats a 10 year old oh my god hes so tiny (no one told him there was a 10 year old because they knew hed stomp right up to management but. regardless. he is going to stomp up to management after this and no one can really stop him. except maybe raz well see)

so yknow. dude fixes his slight slouch and walks forward and politely tells this woman that 1. hes 10 why are you jealous of him and 2. hes 10????????? and shes like shit hes 10. and apologizes. and walks away

and raz is VERY ?? bc she was doing what? why is him being 10 important? and its that young part of you that gets pissed when people try to keep you from doing things because youre young and hes DEFINITELY yet to learn that piling responsibilites that should be handled by adults onto a child is fucked up in its own special way (looking at you ford, *nick*)

and the dude calmly explains because yea. he gets that. and he still sounds gruff and a little peeved but he squats down to razs height and he talks simply and factually, telling him straight on why it isnt right.

and. huh. people dont really do that for raz. except for sasha, sometimes, everyone likes to dodge the truth a lot with him, because hes 10, and sometimes, hes too nice to tug it out of them.

and this guy, this man that raz is already polishing a trophy for 'good adulting' in the back of his brain with his striking statements about how adults should handle things and kids should-kids should...get to have fun. not be traumatized.

for the shock on his face when raz said hed already saved the world a couple times, whats some closets. he reigned it in, said that its weird he saved the world, because thats usually their jobs.

and this guy offers his hand on instict before he stands up, even though he doesnt seem very sweet and kind like the adults that usually offer raz a hand. and he takes it, i think. he takes it.

warm. warm, a little nice.

reminds raz of his dad, maybe. he wonders if this man has any kids himself, but keeps his mouth shut, because he thinks he already has the answer, and its yes.

(he doesnt have any. he would wish he did, but he knows hed fail to raise them right.)

and when he stands, he asks raz what he was asking that woman for, and he says hes doing tasks around the motherlobe because his papers are still coming in. the man doesnt ask. (he knows what 'papers' means, realizes this is the tiny junior psychonaut every room in the damn place has been buzzing about, and he has fucking words for forsythe.) he just offers for the kid to sort mail under his supervision.

and that sounds boring. at least, it usually would.

this man is interesting, and a good...person? a good adult? hes...hes new. hes new, and calm, and a little like sasha but a lot not, and he thinks he trusts him.

so raz grins and says yea, mail sorting sounds nice.

(debatably, raz does not take his hand. hes too jaded when it comes to adults. debatably, he does not feel any warmth from this man who has taught him every adult has been telling him wrong. debatably, im projecting. but thats the whole point of ocs, hm?)

and then holes crop up in motherlobe systems. people are kidnapped.

raz keeps seeing the strange man, keeps telling him things, keeps hearing back, gruff and factual and a little annoyed, but raz can almost-just-barely tell its not at him, with the way he talks.

he can tell. he can tell.

he can never tell. this man is making sure he can tell.

raz trusts the man, is still polishing that trophy for 'best adulting' he has settling in the back of his mind.

and then the man comes with a militia.

he did not seem jaded. he did not seem hateful. he never showed any anger or hate towards raz.

but thats because he knows kids dont deserve it.

an excellent moral or two. a rotten, broken heart.

and at first, they keep the kids away, because these people fight dirty, because this isnt their battle, because the man has been sending emails about why 15 year olds are in a secret psychic agency.

(he does not mention raz. by razs second visit, he had just marked the boy down as another reason to hate the psychonauts as a whole, and especially its higher ups.

hes also regretting his alliance to nick by about the third. if he had known the man would puppet a child as if they were a toy, he would have organized his own rebellion ages ago.)

but eventually, the psychonauts need all hands on deck.

they send the children to find the missing agents.

the interns are fought on the way. some of them avoid the child, know the boss would pummel them.

they get to the base, and the strange man, the one with the broken trophy for 'best adult' (still barely-polished, because hes still so sure) still nestled in the back of razs brain, is still there.

the junior psychonauts are spotted. one of the guards throws a few rocks aimlessly.

they surprise them. one almost hits raz.

its intercepted instead.

and the other junior psychonauts watch as this man, their enemy, a villain, in their eyes, reprimands the other man for even accidentally daring, for even trying. for doing something they might have done just a month or so ago, if they had decided he was too much weirder than they already had.

and he yells something like, "Why the hell is he even here?! This is an enemy base, of whats a rebellion! This is a *10 year old*! What kind of adult sends a child *near* something like that?!" and he truly sounds angry this time, raz finds. hes too angry to keep it in. he still sounds gruff and oddly proper. raz is standing there, arms hanging. hes baffled in a specific way, the way he was every time the man's brow furrowed when he mentioned a harrowing story, the way he was the first day they met.

and he asks, a little quiet, a little small, a reminder of how young he really is, "Why are you still trying to keep me safe? We're supposed to be enemies now."

And his brow furrows further before flattening out, and he tilts onto one leg, and he swears he almost kneels to a knee.

He cant believe it. He really cant.

"You're 10." he says simply, softly, that factual way. "You shouldn't even be here."

and raz pauses. the interns freeze.

"...well, here I am."

and i think...it would be so intriguing if this was done halfway out of the mind, because this man is so against anything psychic. it would be so *compelling.*

so raz steps forward and asks again, asks why hes doing this.

and the mans eyes harden, he tries to turn off that soft heart, trying to remind himself of all that he hates. because he hates the psychonauts, because he sort of hates the world.

and raz asks why he could ever hate the psychonauts, head tilted, before listing off the few he knows to be true. but other than that, how? and ok, the world sucks a little, yea, hes seen that, gets that.

and he appreciates that this kid isnt totally gung ho about existence.

but he hates that he isnt, too.

and its this back and forth. everything the man hates, why he hates it. raz saying why its good but admitting why its bad.

and hes swayed, just a little.

but the man stands up from the kneel hed inevitably instinctively put himself into, and walks forward, hand held out yet again.

"You shouldn't be in the Psychonauts," he tells him, soft, factual, brow furrowed. "Come with me. I'll bring you back to your parents, or wherever it is you want to go."

raz contemplates. thinks, for a long moment.

he grabs the mans hand, warm and firm, yet again, for a terrifying moment.

before he reaches up to slap a mental door on his forehead, and astral projects into it.

he thinks this man is good. thinks hes just jaded.

thinks hes the best adult hes ever met, one who just happens to hate a lot of things.

hes only 10.

hes not letting someone who can tell him so clearly whats wrong and right for adults to tell him go that easily.

aaaand yknow. raz does his razzy thing. learns about why the guy hates the world and the psychonauts and himself. helps him learn that its not all bad, that he was excellent to raz, and still is, that things can be bad and good all at once.

the man concedes that raz is very capable, very smart, and can do a lot. but that doesnt mean he should have to.

raz tells him, though, that he likes working for the psychonauts. its his dream. and he realizes some things he was told to do were kinda screwed up, now. that maybe, in honesty, he was dealt a bad hand.

but hes done what he can with that hand, and he ended up with a royal flush.

and uh! yknow!! then raz leaves his mind and he calls off the rebellion! its like a rhombus of ruin type adventure, except without the villain being present beforehand. its just not clustered in insanely close with a ton of other wild shit.

anyways this got really long? sorry?? its an oc i just saw good adult and slight father vibe potential in the vibe i instantly got on him and then i went feral???? rip maybe someone will read this and if you did. congrats i honestly really liked how the whole foil and good-yet-bad and consideration of raz being 10 thing worked out. this oc is almost like our representative in the psychonauts world the way reigen is for the audience in mp100. yea :) i match them up a lot but thats just cause they vibe a lot. anyways its 1:40 am now and i spent abt an hour on this hope it vibed mildly byeeee

To Alterbeings is wildin about the Wolf movie:

If you havent heard, WOLF is a new film about a main character with species dysphoria, and goes to a clinic to attempt to cure himself.

Whaaaaoo whaooo wooo you say. they are framing species dysphoria to be a disorder that needs a cure. Blasphemy.

But hold on.

heres why i think this plotline , albeit seemingly shitty may hold potential for any outsider that could ever dip their toes into nonhuman identity. Please. bear with me and give this rollercoaster of a post a chance.

1. Normies already think were batshit crazy.

If you havent heard, normies for lack of a better word, those who are human identifying without having nonhuman identities, think the idea of being transspecies or any spectrum of nonhumanity is stange and crazy already. This movie meets them where they are at (AT THE PREMISE. Well get to that later)

2. Individualized storytelling (or potential of)

According to the director, she formed this story around the individual story of jacob, and finding likeminded individuals that feel what you feel. The secondary character, wildcat, has been , at least to me be a multidemensional strongwilled character, that refuses to stop being herself despite others thinking it means shes not well, but the trailer still shows her complex (or potentially complex) relationship with the fear of going against authority to a ceartain extent ( s seen in the scene she advises jacob not to breakout) theres also the scene where wildcat is worried about their survival. jacob says, "i want to survive, but survive as me." This has a lot of potential for depth, specificity, and conclusion that an identity isnt an illness. if there is enough diversity in the species identity portrayal and how its So individual, and fundamental to who they are, then this can be what saves the film, as well as one final point.

3. Conversion is WRONG.

Ah yes the thing i said we will get to later.

in my opinion, this film has very similar vibes to the film Boy Erased, (which is also made with the same production company Focus Features) a film that tells a boys story in gay conversion therapy. The films trailer reads similarly, in the sense that in this premise gayness is introduced in a negative light, and obviously the story progresses from there.

If this message is emphasized at the end of the film clearly, without some shitty backstory of having to be ALSO human or STILL human to be valid, then to me, the movie is redeemed at least a bit, no matter how "cringy" it went, if the message is HEY, THIS CONVERSION SHIT IS WRONG, THIS IS AN IDENTITY, THEY SHOULD BE ACCEPTED, NO MATTER WHAT....

then what do we have to lose?

I say this, with consideration that, hey, remember, hollywood exaggerates EVERYTHING. I would be dumb not to expect this to be exaggerated. It is a Hypothetical world where species dysphoria is wildly studied and talked about, and until that actually happens, we cant know how it would actually be. Theres room for exaggeration, even if there was a transspecies being/individual, or Alterbeing, draconic or other individual overseeing this project.

I remember Claire Wineland, the creator of The Clarity Project talking about being a consultant in 5 Feet Apart , a film about two teens falling in love but also dealing with Cystic fibrosis. Even with her say in the film, she had admitted that exaggeration is just what movies do, and the whole base of 5 feet apart was rather dramatic in her opinion, but she still felt it would resonate with CF patients to see someone like them even slightly on screen and to know she was trying her best to get it the most accurate a hollywood film about CF can be. Unfortunately, im looking everywhere to find where i read her quote. It had an impact on me which is why i remember her own words, but i would love the exact quote. If someone knows pls dm me.

hollywood has sensationalized the wolf, but, despite it, it seemed the actor studied actual wolves "til the end of the world." (and not werewolf movies) for this role. I dont like how the director words things in interviews, using the term syndrome (rather than say, phenomenon at least) while also knowing species dysphoria is understudied at the same time:

“Initially I’d read an article and then seen some follow-up news pieces about a woman who thought that she was a cat,” Biancheri told IndieWire. “She was going around on all fours and meowing. but at the same time, the actor gives out statements like:

“I don’t think even Jacob as a character identifies as someone with species dysphoria, I think he identifies as a wolf,” MacKay told IndieWire. “A big part of it hinges on its commitment to the idea, and that’s integral to what the characters are going through. If suddenly you feel like, Well, actually this guy is a bit impartial about being a wolf, it dilutes the whole thing. You either believe what he feels or are trying to understand what he feels, or you make your own conclusions. For me, it was important that I felt like, without sort of spoiling anything, I rooted myself in the wolf.”

He then goes on saying:

From there, however, only more questions followed. “Once [you answer] that question, it then kind of breaks up into all these really nuanced, complex questions,” he said. “Like, if that’s the case, how does he sound? How does he move? When is he a wolf? When is he a man? If you thought you were a wolf, would you feel like you move like a wolf but you don’t have the body that you need? When did he find out? It just is so rich.”

Here there are tidbits that give me a bit of hope, the actor seems to speak like he was pretty dedicated to trying the best he could to endure complexity rather than cariacture, while im still cautious, heres some bits:

"During lockdown, MacKay chronicled his physical transformation and its emotional implications by writing a diary about the experience. Many of the words that MacKay wrote ended up in the final film, presented as part of Jacob’s own journal, which he shares during a group therapy session. “At some point, even before the shoot, I was like, “‘Yeah, the time has come that he knows the character better than I do,'” Biancheri said."

I seem to have more qualms with the directors wording than the actors, and heres where i think it may be a test where if anything, he can have an impact in this not being that bad lol.

Though Mckay also says,

“I think if we’re trying to make something consciously for the masses via a very individual experience, it would sort of get diluted or become vague, or even slightly patronizing, because you’re trying to encapsulate many, many individual experiences by making a broad strokes version of that circumstance,” he said. “It feels like such a fundamental question, when I think I’m something or I value something that you don’t or that you’re trying to change. I think that has much bigger reverberations, even though our version of it is such a specific question.”

Another quote that spirals me into a mix of 'yikes' and but 'well, i mean that is a point '*shrug* is this one:

"while still rooted in a known disorder [do they mean gender dysphoria?], [it] blows out its ideas in such fantastical fashion that it can’t help but inspire empathy. Why does it matter that Jacob thinks he’s a wolf? What impact does that really have on anyone else?

As the pain Jacob and his fellow patients feel grows, as their journey becomes more poignant and painful, such questions can only lead to greater understanding. If movies are, as Roger Ebert once famously said, machines meant to generate empathy, “Wolf” is precisely that."

Hm. This is the part where i think, holy shit, what if its so exaggerated it *works*? There are depictions of scenes here too reminiscent of any conversion therapy that just may be shattering. Who cares whether u think its theyre cringey when when ur literally fucking makeing someone suffer. Have some Fucking empathy.

we have to remember that this is the FIRST significant time species identity has ever been represented in hollywood like this, not with magic, spells, or full moons. Despite this, the nonhuman and Alterbeing communities took shape online finding solace along the most sensationalized media around wolves, elves and the like. Believe me, im not trying to excuse any negative impact this film may have. Im just saying, Despite any negative impact, species indentity is still here, still a thing. Sure, theres so much chaos but, hey, theres always silver lining. some found solace and felt seen even if it was just a bit by this trailer (including me.) We should never settle, but , even if this sensationalizes species identity, i can see hundreds of transspecies and alterbeing egglings googling "do i have species dysphoria" because of this movie. To me, despite how unceartain the general audience impact of this it is, there can still be hope for a positive one, even if its just a niche few that will find this movie to spark something positive.

With all that being said, i want to feel unashamed that im optimistic, however cautiously.

so yeah youre totally right it IS one of the games ever made!!!

the premise of the plot is that you wake up hangover ass naked, legendarily hangover and comin down from a high, to a trashed apartment with no memory of who you are or wtf is goin on. then you get told youre a cop, then you get told theres a guy that's been hanged rotting behind the shitty motel you've stayed at, and then a guy who claims to be your partner on the case (lieutenant kitsuragi aka The best character) informs you that youve got to find the murderer.

the universe is.... like a mirror of ours? the continents (isolas) have their own countries and histories, which is explored in depth by the game, and some of the quests. i can't really describe it, but its a completely believable world (im not even gonna call it a fictional world, THATS how good it is) with very well developed geography lore and mythology. The world is shrinking and there are cryptids to be hunted and theres a bitter old man in the square who fought against the revolutionaries, and the union fights against a corporate, and theres is something deeply wrong with the kids, and a man was hanged behind your hostel to keep in mind, the game is as much a game a political and philosophical manifesto. a LOT of interactions youll have with the world and the characters that are esoteric discussions about politics and the meaning of life and existence and how the revolution in revachol (the capitol of the world) and martinaise affected the people and their socioeconomic situation.

as to the game itself, its an rpg, where you have 24 skills that you can level, and you interact with the world mainly through various active and passive checks. so its partially based on luck, but to every problem, riddle or obstacle you encounter on your murder investigation there are a metric ton of ways to solve it (i have 130h in that game and i just learned recently that during one of the major plot events things can go south in a very specific way and you gain a new companion. for example) what i wanna say is, the game is absolutely massive and very branching in story elements but also dialogue! a Lot of what you do and say has influence on your character and his future, after you solve (or don't solve) the case

apropos dialogue. this is as much a game as a book too (devs say its a million words. of course you cant encounter alllll the dialogue in one playthrough but. yanno), BUT with the new patch its ALL fully voiced now, and on god the performances and accents and the speaking styles of the main/supporting/side or just throwaway characters are SO varied and distinct, its a pleasure to listen to! moreover, the skills i mentioned earlier arent just numbers. those are characters almost as much as any other, giving helpful advice and unlocking dialogue options, all the while talking and bickering among each other in your head (volition and encyclopedia my beloveds). roughly half of the 1 million words are them talking to you. in your head.

and did i mention literally everything looks GORGEOUSLY handpainted and textured? the visuals of the game, especially the portraits and some illustrations are breathtaking! genuinely the story and the art and the voices and the long winded but fascinating polit-philosophical tangents and discussions, its a masterfully crafted package, i literally could not gush more about it, and i barely scratches the surface

and well, if that doesnt convince you... uh you can be a commie superstar and a part of the homosexual underground with a fucked up kid on the leash and start a night club in a church. with a programmer lady who's trying to find out wtf is going on with the world, and thats just ONE way the story can go!

sorry for not answering this earlier, i was almost dying here but now im a little better

i have to say, this all looks really interesting, and ive seen some of screenshots of it, it looks very beautiful. unfortunately, its 150 reais (27 dollars) on console and 75 reais (13 dollars) on steam, and my pc SUCKS, so i cant buy it on steam AND its costy on console, so im gonna have to wait till its on sale :/
