Angsty dialogue prompts 👀
Number 13 - "Why would you say that?"
-@strangersteddierthings
Ahhhhhh thank you for the request Jess! @strangersteddierthings I hope you enjoy, I took this into a bit of a different direction than even I expected!
***
It takes Robin's foot connecting with his ankle to make Steve realize he was starring.
At Eddie, yet again.
Something that he had been doing a lot over the last few months since everything with Vecna and the Upside Down. Since Steve and Robin had managed to drag Eddie back from the brink, fighting off inky tendrils of death as Dustin led the way while Nancy brought up the rear, shot gun in hand.
Between the four of them, Eddie had actually made it. Torn up and missing about two liters of blood, but alive.
Of course, navigating the aftermath of the earthquakes and the loss of half the town had actually made it easier to avoid the murder charges that had been lobbed at Eddie.
Especially with the way Lucas, Erica, and Max had sworn up and down that Jason had been the one responsible for all of the murders, that they had narrowly escaped becoming his final victims.
And who could argue with the evidence, certainly not Jason after the surge of white hot energy that split the earth had finished with him.
So with Eddie's newfound freedom and the inability to argue with Dustin's insistence that he had been officially adopted into the party, his presence in their lives had become something that Steve looked forward to.
It was nice having someone else his age in the group. Robin was his other half of course, his soul mate, but it was nice having another guy to hang out with, and of course it wasn't because of anything else, Robin.
He let it slip one time that Eddie had nice eyes and was easy to talk to and, do you think he's seeing anyone Bobby, and suddenly Steve is accused of having a crush. Of all things!
Steve feels two fingers suddenly pinch at the outside of his thigh and has to suppress a loud yelp as he bats Robin's hands away from his leg with a glare.
She rolls her eyes and gives him a knowing look before turning back to the conversation.
"Take Stevie over here," Eddie says around the joint between his lips. He takes a long drag before passing it over to Argyle and Steve can't help but watch, transfixed, as the smoke billows out from his nose like a dragon.
"I can guarantee you that he's seen the ocean before while the rest of us land-locked lubbers will probably never get the pleasure," Eddie continues with a wink and kicks his leg up onto the coffee table in Steve's basement.
Argyle blows out a long puff of smoke, he's leaned back against the couch with his head tipped up towards the ceiling, "thats wild man," he says with a laugh in his voice, he doesn't react when Jonathan snorts and takes the joint from his hand.
"Seriously?" Jon asks after a minute, "dude, we lived in California, we literally went to the beach all the time?"
Robin and Nancy both laugh at the noise of recognition that Argyle makes while Eddie rolls his eyes.
"Okay but for everyone else who didn't have the benefit of local geography," Eddie says, gesturing at the girls and himself, "we will be cursed to never feel the sand between our toes and all that shit".
Robin quirks an eyebrow and takes a swig of beer from the can in her hands, the sleeve of her denim jacket brushes against Steve's arm as she moves to set the can back on the coffee table.
They're the only two seated on the floor, Steve having given up the couch so everyone else could be comfortable and Robin couldn't, in good conscience, let her best friend sit by himself.
God he loves her, Steve thinks as he shoots her a soft smile.
He's never had someone that loves him so openly, so unapologetically as Robin does.
Not even when his parents were home for more than a few days a year did they show him the same kind of care that she had in their short time of knowing one another.
Sure, they teased each other, Robin had even made a new scoreboard for his failed attempts at flirting at Family Video --this one with a new section after Steve quietly admitted to her that they had even more in common than they had realized earlier.
But Robin was there, in a way that he hadn't really had from anyone else in years.
"I don't know how you deal with it Buckley," Eddie huffs. He's grinning widely at Robin and Steve, reaching to take the joint back from Jonathan.
"What," she says dryly, "Steve? He grows on you".
"He does," Nancy insists loudly from Jonathan's other side, her cheeks are flushed and her eyes a little glassy. Jonathan lifts his arm to tuck her against his side with a fond grin, he meets Steve's gaze after a minute and mouths, 'still a lightweight,' which makes Steve snort.
"This!" Eddie barks out, lifting a ringed hand to gesture around the basement sitting room, "look there's a fucking Linn LP12 sitting right beside you and a God Damn pool outside".
Steve frowns, looking from Robin back to Eddie. He feels an uncomfortable thrum roll over his skin as Eddie stands up to make his way to the sound system he pointed out.
"Jesus, I think this whole collection cost more than my trailer," he picks up Steve's mothers Joni Mitchell album, turning it in his hands, "must have been nice to have mommy and daddy's money huh? This is like 'fuck you' rich".
Steve feels a faint nervous laugh tumble out of his mouth, even as his stomach rolls at the words.
"Oh my god," Robin laughs, knocking her shoulder into Steve's own, "yes! If I had a nickle for the number of times he asked me why I don't have my own phone line yet whenever my mom answers first, I'd be as rich as Steve!"
Eddie puts the Blue album back and pulls out a copy of The Beatles and now Steve is sweating.
Because Eddie isn't wrong, this is his parents music collection and yes it did cost them a lot of money over the years. But, more importantly, it was off limits to Steve.
The last time his dad had caught him flipping through the vinyls, Steve had been sent to his room with large purple hand prints on the offending arm and two broken fingers.
"Okay, that's my dad's, put it down," he says, hiding the tremor in his voice as he gets to his feet.
Eddie rolls his eyes again but does set the record down on top of the collection. He raises his hands in surrender and raises a mocking eyebrow as he steps back towards the couch, dropping down on the end as Argyle scoots closer to Jonathan to make more space.
Argyle and Jonathan speak quietly to one another seemingly uncaring about the strange tension that begins to bleed into the basement. It's Nancy who is watching Steve, Eddie, and Robin, her mouth set in an unhappy frown.
Nancy had only met Steve's parents once during a very uncomfortable dinner, years back when they had dated. While she may not know the true extent of Steve's relationship with Richard and Cynthia Harrington, she knows it wasn't all sunshine and roses.
"Man," Eddie snorts, shooting Robin a wicked grin, "I knew your parents had spoiled you pretty rotten but I didn't think they needed to buy you a new sense of humor".
"Yeah Steve," Robin pats the carpet beside her, "it's just a joke, lighten up and come sit down".
And that, well, that hurt a bit more than Steve anticipated.
"Why would you say that?" He whispers, the words falling out of his mouth like vomit before he can stop it.
Eddie scoffs from the couch, but Steve isn't looking at Eddie. He's looking at Robin.
Robin who meets Steve's gaze with a slight frown between her eyes, she looks back at Nancy with a laugh in her smile that disappears at the frosty glare Nancy fixes her with.
She slowly turns to look back at Steve, confusion and concern in her blue eyes.
"Oh come on Steve," Eddie takes a drag of the joint, which has dwindled into something resembling a roach before stubbing it out in the brown ashtray on the table, "we're kidding, come on Byers, you get it right?"
Nancy leans up to whisper something in Jonathan's ear and whatever it is, it's enough to make him stiffen slightly and give Steve a long look before he shakes his head, "I think we're going to head home actually".
Steve nods and breathes out, ignoring the way his chest tightens as he refuses to meet Robin's worried gaze.
Eddie slowly stands to follow Nancy and Jonathan, he says something quietly to Argyle that is met with a simple serene shrug
Eddie hangs back as the other three make their way up the basement stairs. He chews his lip and clenches his fist as he looks between Steve and Robin with a frown.
Eddie stands awkwardly beside Robin, spinning one of the rings on his left hand as he looks between Steve and the stairs that the others had used to beat their hasty retreat.
Robin gets to her feet slowly, her gaze never wavering, "Steve?"
Steve winces at the way she says his name.
He knows it was just a joke, he knows he's overreacting, that neither of them could have known about his relationship with his parents.
He knows it's unfair of him to be so upset, but he can't help it.
Because Eddie mocking him, that he could deal with. He could get over it, let go of the fantasies of Eddie's crinkling eyes and warm smile that made Steve's heartbeat quicken.
But Robin?
The way she had laughed, dismissed his discomfort, it was as though he had been transported back to Tommy's basement just a few years back, listening to him and Carol tear him down.
It's just a joke Steve.
He reaches up to pinch at the bridge of his nose, flinching at the sharp intake of air from Robin who immediately makes her way closer.
"Just," he manages to say with an even tone, shaking his head. He closes his eyes and clears his throat, taking a step back from the pair.
"I'm going to bed, got a shift tomorrow, so," Steve says quietly with a shrug. He opens his eyes but drops his gaze to the carpet, knowing if he made eye contact with Robin, he would inevitably ask her to stay.
Robin opens her mouth to argue, a fierce glare in her eyes and a bright flush on her face, he hasn't seen her this upset since the Creel House.
"Steve--"
Robin jumps as Eddie reaches for her arm, pulling her back, hard enough that she stumbles slightly into Eddie.
Steve curls his arms around himself, shying away from Eddie's dark evaluating eyes. He doesn't need to see the judgment there, it's embarrassing enough feeling like he's ruined the evening because of his hangups. He doesn't need the reminder of how ridiculous it is to be angry with them over something so silly.
"Come on Buckley, I'll drive you home," Eddie mumbles as he gently tugs at her arm once again.
Steve hears a harsh sigh, but she doesn't say anything this time. He can feel her staring, as though trying to read his mind like she normally could. But Steve keeps his eyes trained on the floor, until he hears two pairs of feet finally make their way up the stairs, until the front door closes, until Eddie's van roars to life on the Harrington driveway.
Steve eventually makes his way upstairs in a daze, half heartedly getting ready for bed.
He brushes his teeth, washes his face, doing everything he can to ignore the words that echo in his head over and over. He finishes in the bathroom and takes off his jeans, swapping his sweater for an old ratty t-shirt he often used for bed.
It was just a joke.
Steve rolls over until he's facing the window, ignoring the tightness in his chest as he closes his eyes.
Maybe it would be funnier in the morning.

i just wrote the weirdest thing, i rlly don’t know what this is. all the dialogue for videos are ones i found on youtube shorts by zackdfilms :)
welcome to unfinished new blurbs with emma - computer edition
untitled | jack hughes
"if your eyeballs fully popped out of your head, you would completely lose your vision-"
jack turned over in the bed, groaning a little at the noise. he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer, causing her to gasp. yet, her eyes stayed transfixed on her phone as she continued to scroll through youtube shorts, "lasik starts with a doctor cutting a flap into the first layer of your eye called the cornea-"
"when a wound gets stapled a doctor holds the edges of the area shut to ensure that they are aligned with each other-"
"when you turn on an ac unit, it sucks in the warm air from your room through a vent. inside this warm air passes over a coil-"
"a doctor inserts the microchip between your thumb and index finger, using a device similar to a syringe-"
"baby, what are you doing?" jack's voice was soft and deep from barely being awake.
y/n's eyes widened a tad and shut her phone off before looking over her shoulder, "nothing."
he scooted closer to her, or pulled her further into him, and leaned his forehead onto her shoulder before leaving a soft kiss, "what's going on?"
"nothin', jacky. go back to bed."
at the nickname, jack's eyes opened slightly and peered up at her, "what's wrong?"
she sighed, moving her head back so she was looking at the black screen of her phone. she didn't say anything and reached for her earbuds and continued watching videos, the sound now playing directly into her ears.
"if a super loud noise enters your ear, the sound waves can actually rip through your ear drums-"
before she could even finish the video and swipe to the next one, the phone was taken from her grasp. she finally turned around to face her boyfriend, her phone lighting up his face. he gave her a small smile that was laced with worry and concern, with an added bit of annoyance in it too, "why aren't you sleeping?"
she mumbled, "i can't."

Meeting Mrs. Dekarios warm brown eyes that twinkle in curiosity in your presence has you blushing while placing your teacup back on the table. Tara turns to listen, curious as to what parts of the story you are willing to share or moments she left out from earlier.
“It was a stage meeting, I had just fallen from the sky- saved by the grace of an otherworldly being before becoming strapped with the task of saving myself from a parasite infecting my mind and magic alongside riding the world of many great evils,” you start with while your hands make grand gestures- a social tick you adopted from Gale.
Mrs. Dekarios nodded along eagerly as she placed her own cup down and settled further into the couch as Tara placed herself upon the woman's lap. “From cultists to demons and goblins alike, I journed up many mountainsides and got my boots wet within various swaps. I met your son at a odd time for the both of us, I was coming back freshly bloodied from a battle against mindflayers while Gale’s hand motioned in an animated fashion from a cliffside- stuck within a portal.” You shake your head, giggles erupting from yourself on the memory that started it all as the other two ladies joined soon after.
“He spoke like a tried-and-true performer, stating his name proudly in the sunlight-” you puff out your chest while furrowing your eyebrows in a mocking manner that has Tara reeling in laughter and Mrs. Dekarios appears transfixed into your storytelling capability, “Gale of Waterdeep at your service” you say with a drop in your tone, extending your hand towards Mrs. Dekarios with a large smile before returning back to plot.
“He then listed varios facts about himself, much to the group's amusement- Astarion had a few choice words to say about Gale that I cannot quite recall but later they would become good friends surprisingly… whoever would have known Gale's blood tasted like poison…. Anyways! He joined us on our journey to help the tieflings and a great battle commenced. We fought back to back from that day forward, slinging spells till tomorrow and back,” you eyes hold brightness as excitement fills your tone, Mrs. Dekarios has leaned forward- wanting to ensure she grasps your every word as Tara nods along- awaiting.
“Skipping ahead through the various nights we shared stories, knowledge, even our hearts deepest desires and regrets while resting underneath the stars- I think then is when I began to fall deeply in love with your son. His witty jokes, the passion in which he spoke about magic, and how he always seemed to know what I needed most- or at least he did then…” you train off, your excited tone wavering as you continue.
“...Nevertheless, time continued on, he spoke to me every morning, walked beside me down every path we took towards now, and answered all of my questions, concerns and wavering thoughts throughout the nights between cooking dinner and books . Oh the books!” you cry out as Tara shakes her head in remembrance.
“His tent was always filled with so many of them, many of which I had yet to hear of, he knew boundless knowledge… he was so many things to different people, a valiant warrior to those who deserved justice, a peacekeeper to those without the ability to fight back, a cook to those who would otherwise poison the camp, and a good friend to many- so much so he was even willing to risk it all to save us at one point.” You shake your head at the possibility as Mrs. Dekarios eyes fall sullen for a moment as do yours.
“Yet there was one night… Long ago when we thought to be reaching the end, he pulled me aside and to the outer planes we went. I was battered, broken and bruised as he sat with me in a pool of my metaphorical blood yet he still took my hand in his. The one that has slaughtered all these beings in the name- for what I hoped to be the greater good. He pulled me out of that darkness I was forgetting myself in and later that night I learned I did the same for him. I was so lost in my joy- my bliss- he mentioned all this power that surrounded us…” you shutter back at the thought, “and that is when I felt cracks beginning to stir from my earth- I was stupid, ever so stupid to look past them even in my own happiness…” you feel yourself slightly drifting away as your eyes well over and your hands shake.
“I-I do not believe in many moons that will pass us that I’ll meet another man like Gale was. I do not know if I would even want to. I loved Gale Dekarios, so much so I got lost in the present with him without looking towards the future of what he was becoming. I am so sorry Mrs. Dekarios” you sob out before repeating the last phrase over and over as your head falls into her lap beside Taras body.
“I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry…”
“Do not feel sorry for what you could have done, for what it is- is done, Y/N. That is a sad reality that I have learned as of recently, I hope those words do well to calm your mind as well,” she adds softly, quitting your apologies while brushing a hand through your hair, humming lightly as your body shakes as you feel her own strength wavering at the sight of you.
Yet as all three of you are captured in this moment together, holding on just barely in your sorrows. You miss the sound of divine humming lightly, creating a light breeze that turns the pages of an opened novel atop the table as Taras nose twitches in recognition. Jumping off the couch to meet the new visitor of the space.
A clearing of a throat that echos in an otherworldly fashion has you and Mother Dekarios jumping out of your skins and knocking heads. Turning your newly aching head to match your heart that jumps as your eyes widen in recognition. There stands the God of Ambition as your eyes burn through his new appearance and confident demeanor.
His skin is painted a silver colour, the light from the late sun casts rays while coming in contact with the skin that matches his hair. Your heart aches as the metallic appearance has your fingers missing the soft locks of his mortal hair yet his eyes stab your very soul causing a shutter to turn through your body, a rush of cold blood running through your system.
His eyes glow in a similar fashion to the moon lantern, a dark memory of your journey together you did your best to forget happened. The only familiar trace you hold of this current appearance is in the colours of the new robes he wears that are more revealing than your last memory together.
Looking down at your own appearance, you feel as if the robes burn your skin as you pick at the coloured fabric. Disgust hollows itself in your stomach as does your throat- unable to come to words with the new presence.
“My, isn’t this a pleasant sight, all the people I hold dearest together in one space.” Gale says before kneeling to pat Tara gently across the top of her head- she tenses before forcing herself to relax within the gods touch. Mrs. Dekarios remains speechless, taking in her son with pity-filled eyes that hold regret in their deepest parts.
“What have you become of your ego, Gale?” Tara questions the god of ambition, her tail flicking to remove Gale's hand from her body.
“I have become my best self, Tara. It does my heart a world of pain to hear my closest friend speak of me so negatively” Gale replies with a saddened tone while straightening his posture once more- looking over the two of you still sitting on the couch- unmoving.
“My mortal loved ones, how I have missed you both in the revolution of this all” Gale states while moving towards you both and settling himself on the opposing couch where he pats a spot beside him, motioning for you to join him.
“Madness is another way of putting it,” Tara quips back before returning to her corner on the windowsill, taking in your exchange from a distance. You look towards Mrs. Dekarios, uncertainty clouding your vision as you grasp on her hand to anchor yourself in this moment as she squeezes your own in the same reaction.
Gale grapes both of your attentions once again, his voice holding an echo-like and empty quality to it that haunts your ears. “I imagine this must be quite a shock. Whatever you’re feeling, do not be afraid. It’s still me, just an… improved version,” as Gales speaks you notice the lightning-like veins that grace the left side of his face, they glow in a familiar pattern- his heartbeat.
Yet fear is the only thing that consumes you as you take in more and more of his inviting divine presence that you do your best to reel away from. His body is still open, his arm resting over a spot- hoping that you would join him yet you do not feel the courage within yourself to face the man of your current distressed state so closely.
“I thought you forgot about me- about all of us Gale! You left me at camp- worried sick over what had become of you!” you launch back with more vice than you were intending, your heart learching out- fighting back on its last stilts of strength.
“Forget you? Never.” Gale replies with utmost certainty within his tone. The glow of his eyes sharper as if trying to portray his journey towards you. You watch as his hand clenched over top of the couch cushion, stress beginning to fall upon him.
“Time moves differently within Elysium. I didn’t realise how long I had been gone before worshippers kept devoting for my presence,” the God of Ambition explains simply, crossing his ankles while speaking with his hands, “I imagine you both are wondering how all this came to be.”
Gale pauses for a moment as if checking his next words, “The finer points of divine ascension are beyond mortal comprehension, I’m afraid, but in a sparknotes so to speak- I used the crown we obtained to further myself with the help of the orb. And then I put all of that to work after a few discussions with Mystra- we or well I decided that making a realm of my own was on the cards and thus I have claimed my own dominion: ambition.” He pushes himself further, elbows resting against his thighs as he leans in to watch your brains observe this newfound information.
Gale’s heart drums faster in his chest, the lightning in his veins glows stronger as he loves to view your eyes soaking up everything he holds to offer, this holds good odds for what is to come next, Gale thinks to himself.
“And what does the God of Ambition lay for his devoted followers?” you ask back, curiosity brimming over the better half of your judgement.
“I look to inspire my followers as you have done so to me when I followed you. To be living proof that the impossible is obtainable” Gale speaks back, tone soft as ever, his hands reach out to place them overtop of yours that connect to his mother.
“Oh course” Mrs. Dekarios speaks up for the first time as you both tilt your heads towards her. The woman's expression is far from happy as her smile has become lost, “My Gale was always the one to make the impossible possible, even when it would drive himself to ruin” she finishes with uncharacteristic spite in her tone as she drops your hand, hiking up her dress and storms out the room- leaving the door open.
With a snap of Gales fingers, the familiar door-greeter you met on the doorstep appears within an instant, bowing before the divine as they await new orders. Your eyes go wide in recognition of the purple hue that overtook their eyes moments ago as Gale silently orders them to close the door, exiting the room once more.
It appears Tara has done the same in the chaos of it all as the low sun no longer casted her shadow against the hardwood floors. You sigh, not waiting to look at the god in front of you in a childish endeavor as you feel the couch dip beside you and Gale drops one of his hands from holding yours to tilt your head back up to facing him.
“There are a plethora of temples being risen in my new wake, yet I stand alone in each one thus far. This is only the beginning of what our love could be- eternity. Please tell me you fare the same way I do?” Gale squeezes your hand while the other cups your cheek, thoughtfully rubbing circles into your skin. A small breath escapes through your tight lips as you allow yourself this brief memory of his once familiar touch.
Gale talks over his question towards you, hoping to clear more of your sprouting doubts before they leave roots in your mind. Yet little did he know your decision had already been made on the lakeside those few nights ago.

R is for -- Raul Tejada
Ah, Raul, what an absolute legend for beating MacCready in the polls. I couldn't believe it, but once again, I am not complaining. I love him, I love writing for him, and just... these types of prompts for him make me feel all giddy.
Gramps deserves some lovin', what can I say?
And here is the 2k event masterlist, for your browsing pleasure!
--
Pair: Raul x F! Six
Dialogue: “Don't stop."
Word: Relief
Rating: NSFW (but not super explicit)
Category: Hurt/Comfort
Word Count: 1.4k
“Really? Wow, I can’t believe you remember all that…When it was, what, over a hundred years ago or something?” Without putting too much thought to the action, Six leaned her head against her companion’s shoulder as her eyes stayed transfixed on the smoldering fire they’d prepared.
“Well, more like 200." He let out a dry sort of chuckle, and the movement jostled Six's head slightly. "Doesn’t seem as long ago as it was, though. And what can I say? Memories like that... They stick with you. Family, you know?”
“I don’t actually.” She was quick to answer him.
“O-oh, right, sorry ‘bout that, boss.” Raul stammered, and Six felt him tense.
“No, no, sorry, I meant that more as a joke.” Six laughed a bit, and she felt Raul’s shoulders relax from their previous stiffness as she kept her head leaning on him.
“It may sound bad to say," She continued, "but… I feel like I don’t really need to be sad about not having a family.” Six seemed to say it without thinking, the words just flowing out freely like Raul’s ears were a natural sort of irrigation path. “I mean… I have you.”
Raul shifted as he looked down at his companion, and though she was still staring ahead, into the glowing coals of their leftover fire, he could see the truth of her words shining through in her expression.
“Me?” He asked, and it came out as little more than a breath.
“Yeah, Raul.”
He smiled at the way she said his name, feeling like a giddy colegial again, even after so many years.
“I feel like, with you, I have everything I need.”
He could only blink at that, unsure quite how to respond to something so sweet, directed at him.
It's been awhile...
Six shifted against him, sitting up and turning so that they could meet his gaze.
“And… I’m sorry, for everything that you’ve lost, that you had to leave behind. But I hope… I hope that having me in your life makes it a little easier.”
She looked away now, and-- was that un poco de rosa rising to her cheeks?
Raul felt… captivated, his eyes unblinking as he took in the lovely sight of his partner–
His boss, he had to remind himself.
There is no way she could see me that way. Románticamente. She just said she sees me as family.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you, mija.” He said, in placement of everything he truly wanted to reveal to her.
This... this is más fácil.
What she feels for him now; how she depends on him, how she views him, it should be enough.
After all this time though, time on his own… Raul felt ready for something more with this woman, but if it meant losing what they have? If she refused him? Maybe, like the few others he’d thought of pursuing in the past hundred years or so, she’d turn him away, maybe with that same hint of disgust upon her face, that quality of ‘what were you thinking?’ in her voice.
Raul didn’t think he could handle something like that, couldn’t go back to his measly shack and his workbench, todo solo. Not now, that he knew what it was like to be with her.
Sure, he complained and he sassed, he still worked and was in danger a hell of a lot more than he had been on his own, but… He was living, now. Not just wallowing in his memories, living in the past, or living in a prison– in more than one way– like when she found him.
“Really?” Six breathed, and he felt the spill of warm air over his face, just now realizing her close proximity to him.
How come she hasn’t flinched yet? Most women flinch– most gente, even– can’t stand to be so close to someone like me.
“I feel… Just the same, only, well…”
Raul could see the way her heart picked up written upon her face. Six was about to tell him something that would change everything, but…
She never quite had the chance, as something possessed the ghoul, some confidence her words had forced into him, something her closeness brought about, and he leaned forward the couple inches it took to press his lips to hers.
A small noise escaped her, surprise, he hoped, and not–
Disgust, revulsion, fear, anger. Sólo elige uno, could be any. Or multiple, even.
His own fear was dashed from him, though, as Six wove her hands around the back of his neck and pulled him closer.
Sparks flew behind Raul’s closed eyelids as he felt her press so wholly into him, as she tilted her head and her soft, perfecta, lips kneaded over his. His, that he’d been so self-conscious about, that he feared might even hurt her, with their roughness. If it did though, Six made no mention or motion of it, and before he knew it, Raul found his– equally bruto– hands sliding over her waist, pulling her body closer to his, delicately weaving his fingers over her loose-fitting sleep shirt, lifting the fabric ever so slightly to graze his warm fingers over the smooth skin of her torso.
As one exploratory hand moved to caress her back beneath her shirt, Raul felt Six gasp against him, her body tensing beneath his touch in a way that jolted him out of his mindless bliss, back into reality. Without another thought, he pulled back and away from her, his hands and lips both vacating her body with rash haste.
“Mija, Six… I…”
Does an apology even begin to cover this?
Maldito idiota--
“Shh.” She filled the space that he'd made between them without hesitation.
No, alternatively, Six’s hands never left their place over Raul's shoulders, and even now, they sought to pull him closer, her fingers insistent where they pressed into the thin fabric of his jumpsuit.
“It’s alright, Raul.”
She’d whispered his name this time, and despite all his cautionary thoughts, Raul couldn’t stop the tingle down his spine from reaching another place, one he was more ashamed of, as he felt his jumpsuit seem to tighten below his hips.
“Don’t stop.”
Raul heard the words, and then, Six’s lips were back on his.
Even the coals of the fire had darkened and cooled now, and the pair were utterly lost in one another. Months of buildup, of feelings unspoken and actions un-acted upon, and all of it being released on this one fine, cool night beneath the stars.
Raul’s mind only came back to him when Six’s fingers set upon the zipper of his mechanic jumpsuit, pulling it down without an ounce of reproach, and he couldn’t find it in himself to stop her. At this point, Six knew what she was doing, she wanted this, as much as he did.
And mierda, but that was a wondrous thought.
So, he allowed her to tug the fabric from his arms, to haul it all down, down, until his chest was exposed to her. Only then, did she pull her lips from his.
Breathless, Raul opened his eyes, seeking any semblance of apprehension or disgust from her as she saw his ravaged skin in its gross entirety, but no such expression crossed her face.
No, only that same such wonder that he felt as he looked at her, as he thought of her. She drank him in, like a clear, blue oasis in the middle of the blistering heat of the Mojave, and her lips quickly followed suit from her eyes. Tentatively, but more for his sake than her own, it seemed, Six kissed down his neck, then to his chest, as her arms smoothed over his skin in a reverent sort of way. A way that made him want to worship her in return.
The touch was… shocking, to say the least, but the weight off his shoulders, the fear, it was all lifted away as she pressed her hands to his chest, encouraging Raul to lay back on the rough blanket they’d laid upon the sand, and continued her cariñoso actions over his skin.
Raul allowed himself to close his eyes, to soak in the feeling of her touches, unabashed and unashamed. More than he could say of his own views of himself.
It was aliviando, to forget his own biases, and to free himself of what he’d thought she might say or do when he told her the truth, when he made it clear how he cared for her.
It wasn’t something he was used to, but perhaps, that too could change.

You and Sam climb out of Steve’s car and wave your goodbyes as he pulls out of your driveway. Sam’s arm wraps around your waist, tugging you close.
Together, the two of you make your way into the house and out of the snow. It falls gently in the quiet of the night, landing softly on your jacket and in your hair. You weren’t sure if there would be snow this year, but you’re happy to have a white Christmas.
Sam takes your coat once you’re inside, and you smile at the chivalrous gesture. He never fails to treat you like the queen he claims you are.
“That was quite the party,” Sam says as you plop down onto the plush couch in the living room. Instead of joining you, he kneels in front of the fireplace and makes a fire. Even though he’s wearing long sleeves, you can see his muscles moving in his back. Your fingers itch to feel them, to soothe any sore spots.
Sam must feel your eyes on him because he gives you a glance, one that tells you just how much he likes when you look at him like that. You wink, and he laughs, going back to his task of lighting the fire.
When he’s done, Sam walks over to the couch and sits beside you, tugging you into his embrace. He’s warm, and the fire’s heat fills the room, creating a cozy atmosphere.
With the snow falling outside and the fire roaring, it really feels like Christmas. Sam’s festive sweater certainly helps, though you’d taunted him mercilessly about it before the party. You’ll never admit it to him, but he can pull off anything, even an ugly Christmas sweater.
“What’s on your mind, baby?” Sam asks, pressing a kiss to the crown of your head. You snuggle closer to him and breathe in his perfect scent.
“I’m just happy I get to spend Christmas with you,” you reply. And it’s true; you are so happy about that. Time with Sam is never guaranteed, what with his job and all, so any time you get with him is treasured.
Sam shifts you in his arms, so you’re curled up on his lap, and he looks down at you with those big beautiful puppy dog eyes. “I’m happy too.” He leans down, and kisses you gently, making sure you know just how happy he is, just how cared for you are.
Sam’s passion and kindness practically ooze from his pores, but it’s even clearer just how good of a man he is when he’s kissing you, when he’s making you feel oh so loved.
He plays you like a fiddle, letting his hands roam over your body, feeling you beneath his calloused fingers. You melt into his touch, fully at mercy to his ministrations. It’s so easy to get lost in him, in his smell, in the way he makes you feel.
Sam’s hands find your legs, and he adjusts you so that your legs are wrapped around his torso. He stands, easily lifting you with him in the movement. He walks over to the rug in front of the fireplace and gently lowers you both to the ground.
Seated on top of Sam, you can feel his erection pressing against your center. You gently grind against him, your hips moving as if of their own volition. Sam groans beneath you, fingers making their way into your hair, tugging it lightly.
He pulls away for a moment, eyes transfixed on your lips, now swollen from his passionate kisses. “You’re so beautiful,” he whispers. The fire illuminates his skin with a beautiful warmth while simultaneously casting shadows across his face that highlight his strong features.
“Sam,” you say quietly, drawing his eyes up to yours.
“Fuck, baby, you can’t say my name like that,” he groans, shifting his hips to grind against you again. Your hands grip his shoulders as pleasure shoots through you. He holds you close as he settles your back against the carpet, his body crowding yours.
“We’re gonna crush the presents,” you giggle, your head bumping one of the wrapped gifts beneath the tree.
“You’re the only present I want,” Sam says, sitting up. “You gonna let me unwrap you?” He asks, fingers already playing with the button of your pants. You nod, and in an instant, he’s tugging your clothes off of you.
The heat of the fire is nothing compared to the heat of Sam’s eyes on your skin. He looks at you as if you were sent to Earth just for him, as if you’re the only thing in the universe for him.
Sam strips himself of his own clothes, putting on a show for your hungry eyes. You devour every inch of him, his soft skin, his perfect physique.
You watch as Sam presses kisses to your breasts and down your abdomen, gently nipping at your skin, causing you to gasp lightly. Every time you make a sound, his eyes flick up to yours. There’s a mischievous look there, one that you know will only lead to good things.
Sam’s gorgeous mouth is just about to dip down to where you want him when he stops, letting his breath fan over your clit. Your hips cant toward his lips, silently begging for him to keep going.
“So needy, baby,” he mutters under his breath as he watches you squirm.
“Please, Sam,” you beg, voice on the verge of being a whine.
“Please what, baby?” he teases, sucking a mark into your inner thigh. “Tell me what you need.”
“Fuck, Sam, I need you so bad,” you moan, trying not to close your legs around his head. “I need you to eat me out.”
Sam smiles up at you when you finally get the words out. “How could I ever say no to you?” he muses before dropping his head and finally giving you the contact you’ve been craving.
He feasts on you, ravages you with vigor. Your hands grip the carpet beneath you, chest heaving with breathy moans.
Sam works you up to your orgasm so quickly that it practically blinds you. Pleasure rips through you as electricity shoots down your spine. You come on a loud moan that only urges Sam on further.
“You’re so fuckin’ sweet,” he whispers into your pussy, pressing a kiss to your sensitive clit before licking his way up your body.
When Sam’s face is back in line with yours, you lift your chin to kiss him, tasting yourself on his lips.
“So naughty, Sam. What would Santa say?” Sam sits up, wrapping your legs around his waist. You let him, practically a rag-doll under his touch. He lines his cock up with your pussy and drags it up and down, bumping your clit.
Sam presses inside of you excruciatingly slowly, making you feel every beautiful inch of his fantastic cock.
“Santa doesn’t need to know about this, baby.” And with that, he’s thrusting inside of you at a pace that makes you see stars. All you can do is hold on, taking everything he gives you.
Sam’s hands find your tits, groping you in an almost pornographic way, but it just fuels the fire in your belly. Everything Sam does just turns you on more; there’s nothing this man could do that you wouldn’t find sexy or a turn-on. He’s Mr. Perfect in every way.
“Oh God, Sam,” you moan as he brings you right back to the brink of orgasm.
“Come on, Sugar, give it to me.” The strain in his voice alerts you that he’s close, and just knowing that sends you over the edge. You feel yourself clamp down on Sam’s cock as he picks up his pace, chasing his own orgasm.
Sam moans your name as he comes, dropping his forehead to yours as he comes down from the high. “I love you so much, baby,” he whispers, kissing you sweetly. How this man can be so dirty but such a gentleman all at the same time always amazes you.
“I love you too, Sammy,” you reply.
A moment later, Sam rolls off of you and makes his way to the bathroom, returning with a warm washcloth to clean you up with. When he’s done, he tugs a blanket off the couch and pulls you in close, holding you in his arms.
As the fire roars, you snuggle into Sam’s chest, loving the warmth he surrounds you with. Nothing has ever made as much sense as this right here.

Summary: a quiet conversation at the lake...
Warnings: Convo about Periods, hurt + comfort
Word Count: 1,122
A/N: Hello Loves! I know a handful of you have wanted this, so here he is! Travis is actually a lot harder than I anticipated to write, but that could be because I'm not the greatest at writing men/boys. This turned out a lot angstier than intended, but I think we can all appreciate quality hurt/comfort now and then. Unfortunately though, pretty much all of my Travis requests have quite a hefty amount of angst in them. But that's all I'll say, so As always, feel free to leave questions or comments in my comments or ask box, and happy reading! 🧡

It had only been a week, maybe more or less, and you were sick of the cabin. It had quickly grown overcrowded and overstimulating, so you now found every opportunity you could to leave and be outside for as long as possible. It had become commonplace for you to wander all day and not come back till nightfall. Today, however, you'd found some peace at the lake. It started as a trip to get more water for back at the cabin, only to turn into an impromptu bath and swim. You'd grown desperate for some semblance of feeling clean again. But now you'd finished and were drying off on the shore.
“You’ve been gone all day,” a rough voice said behind you, though you didn’t turn. You only shrugged, arms wrapped around your knees as the waterline lapped at the rocky terrain under you and your toes. You hadn’t felt like putting your shoes back on just yet.
“It's getting crowded over there. I need to clear my head sometimes” you mumbled, eyes transfixed on a particularly shiny stone near your feet. Travis didn’t sit beside you, choosing to stand with his hands in his pockets.
“Mind bringing me along when you get away next time?” he asked. You chuckled.
“Is all the period talk getting to be too much for you?” you looked up at him, tilting your head and covering your eyes with your hand to keep the sun away. You were starting to regret not bringing those sunglasses your mother suggested.
“What, you on it too?” he griped. After a pause, you let out a snorting laugh at him. It had your stomach churning and you had to lie down on your back, arm covering your eyes as you grinned.
“Hey, better get used to it, T-man. I have a feeling it’s gonna be a minute before we get out of here,” you heard the stones beside you shuffle as he took a seat.
“I don’t hope that’s not the case,” he mumbled. You peeked out from under your arm to get a good look at him. He looked tired and out of it. You knew Travis well. You used to play little league soccer together when you were 6. His dad had been the coach then too. Honestly, that had been the only reason you played soccer now in high school. You lost some of that relationship with him over time. It was strange, his sudden interest in you. You always thought he kind of resented you for whatever reason. He’d grown up a lot though, you noted.
“Why? Can't stand being the only man with a bunch of women? Isn't that like, every guy's dream?” you hummed, covering your eyes again. You heard him scoff and shuffle his feet on the rocks.
“Yeah, maybe, but they haven't considered what comes with being around a bunch of girls,”
“What? Travis can’t handle a little girl talk?” you teased. He sighed heavily, grumbling under his breath.
“Maybe not constant girl talk, no,” you chuckled at that some and decided to sit up again. “is that why you always leave?”
“What? Because of girl talk?” he nodded. You shook your head. “No, I'm used to it. It's just locker room stuff at this point,” Travis wrinkled his nose and grimaced.
“You talk about your periods and stuff together?” he seemed quite surprised. Your brows raised and you nodded.
“I mean, what did you think we talked about?” you could see the formings of an embarrassed blush heat the apples of his cheeks.
“I dunno, I thought you talked about boys or something. Like magazines maybe, I dunno,” you began to laugh again.
“I mean, sure, we do, but that's not all we talk about,” he continued to frown and looked away, piercing his lips.
“Whatever. I just didn’t think I’d have to hear so much about it,” he grumbled. You laughed again, looking out onto the lake with a lackluster smile.
“You sound like your dad, you know that?” you said without putting any thought behind it. Upon realizing you felt yourself cringe, sucking in a breath between your teeth. You expected Travis to throw himself into a rage, scream at you to shut the fuck up, and not mention his father, now dead a buried by the crash sight which felt long forgotten by now. But he didn’t. He stayed quiet, staring down at his shoes with a crease in his brow and a frown on his lips.
“ugh, don’t remind me,” was all he managed to say through fumbling teeth. You began to apologize but he shook his head, his eyes turning up and looking at you. “Don’t. It’s fine,” his voice faltered, letting you know that it wasn’t fine. But you weren't going to press any more than you had already. He went quiet again and you chewed at your lip.
“You know, he was a pretty shit dad,” he said eventually, his eyes transfixed on the open air of the lake. You watched, keeping your words to yourself. “I’m pretty sure he was cheating on my mom or something. I don’t know though. He wouldn’t fess up to me and no one told me what was happening,” he took a long sniff in, his lip twitching.
“I used to wish he’d just leave. Maybe then Mom would be happy. But now he’s gone, and I just-” he trailed off shaking his head with parted lips. He didn’t go on from there and you couldn't find any words, so you did the only thing you could think of and reached out, your fingertips brushing over his spin. He jumped and you hesitated, but when he looked up to meet your gaze, tears forming in his eyes with a quivering lip you couldn’t help the way your gaze softened.
You reached out your other hand, brushing your fingers over his cheek as you moved forward, hesitantly enveloping him in your arms. His nose and face found the crook where your neck met your shoulder as one of your arms snaked around his shoulder while the other slipped to cradle the back of his neck. He began to quiver in your arms. He wrapped his arms around your shoulder and waist, squeezing tight for as much support as he could get from you. You felt tears run down your shoulder, wetting your shirt as he sniffled and cried. Your fingertips tangled in his growing hair and you breathed him in as tears sting your eyes now.
“It’s gonna be ok…” was all you could muster. If you believed that or not, you didn't know, but it was what you both needed, even if it was only for a moment.

Devour and Delight: Roy’s Wedding and Wedding Night
Fandom: Court of Darkness (Roy X MC, MC named Carla)
Rating: First third PG/Sugary sweet; last 2/3 R/Sweetly Spicy (Minors/folks under 18 do not interact please!). The spicier section is in dialogue format.
Description: Roy and MC get hitched—and clearly enjoy their first honeymoon night. Part One to this story here: LINK HERE
Word Count: ~2700
Tags: Wedding; wedding night; fluff; sweet and spicy; soft smut
A private ceremony takes place in a garden near the Invidian royal chapel. A little girl clutching a basket marches down the aisle, the frills of her dress bouncing energetically. Roy smiles indulgently as the girl curtsies to him at the altar.
“You performed admirably, Nica.” He adds. “Your excitement mirrors mine.”
“Yay!” Nica runs to her older brother, Rio, who serves as Roy’s best man. She had practiced her flower girl routine diligently for a week. No one had the heart to tell Nica that, in her excitement, she forgot to drop any of the petals.
“Sorry about that mate,” Rio says quietly to Roy after ushering Nica to her seat.
“There is nothing to apologize for, my friend.” Roy eyes Nica’s overflowing flower basket, grinning. “I have a better use for the petals this evening.”
“What use could that be—“ Rio stops himself. Roy’s gaze is transfixed upon seeing Carla.
King Klaus walks Carla down the aisle. “I thought I’d only get this honor with Sherry,” Klaus murmurs, his voice choking. Carla can’t help but be moved that the King is reacting like a proud parent this day, his emotions clearly etched on his face.
The audience witnessing this wedding is small—some palace staff, Rio, Lynt and their immediate families, Sherry, Grayson, and Roy’s parents. The Invidian people and other foreign princes will be present for the public ceremony—and all the royal trappings along with it—in a week’s time. But this day is for Roy and Carla.
Carla can hardly contain her emotions as she grasps Roy’s hand.
“No escaping now,” Carla whispers jokingly, her eyes drinking the sight of him in his suit.
“Escape was never an option for us, Heartspell.”
King Klaus makes a gracious escape and sits next to his wife and daughter Sherry. He’s all but sure from Roy’s lovestruck stare that his son did not remotely register his presence.
“Roy’s brimming with passion. It just took the right woman to unlock it.” Roy’s mother notes fondly to King Klaus.
“If he can keep it unlocked until the ceremony ends!” Sherry giggles.
The officiant intones some very poignant and meaningful words—of which Roy would confess later to not recalling much of at all. He does recall every word of his and Carla’s personal wedding vows. When that time arrives, Carla turns and places a gold ring with an etched rose motif on his finger.
“The world is comprised of darkness and light. For years, I struggled in the dark, seeking a life worth living. But then, you arrived. Thank you for being my light—my source of inspiration and joy. I vow to spend every day giving you the same love and happiness you’ve gifted me. To ease the burdens you carry. To lift your spirits in times of sorrow and doubt.”
A beautiful smile forms on Roy’s face from Carla’s words. He places a diamond ring on her finger before clasping her hands.
“The world may be comprised of light and dark, but you brought color into my life. I love you with all that I am. My soul has transformed from knowing you—your goodness, your kindness, your perseverance. I vow to cherish you for eternity, to be the one you can turn to when you require. To comfort, soothe, and protect in times of need.”
The officiant asks if there are any objections. Carla withholds a giggle when Roy scans the crowd and briefly narrows his eyes as if anyone would object. Her thumb caresses his wrist to soothe his nerves.
The officiant pronounces them man and wife. Carla represses the urge to leap in Roy’s arms due to the audience. Roy senses her hesitation and pulls Carla to him in a tender embrace. As their lips touch, Carla whispers on his lips.
“I love you…husband.”
Time stops briefly. Affections overflow as they gaze into each other’s eyes.
“And I love you...wife.”
There’s a joyous celebration at the Castle. The festivities blur in a series of dances, feasting, and good natured ribbing of Roy and Carla being unable to keep their eyes off each other. The moment King Klaus and Queen Charlotte leave, Roy makes his excuses, picks Carla up in his arms, and dashes away.
Carla: Roy! So impatient! Her voice echoes the hallway. What will people say?
Roy: Patience would be rather unusual at present. It is not as if tonight’s plans are a secret. Roy smirks while carrying Carla towards their chambers. Upon feeling her cheeks blaze, his voice lowers. I have the most beautiful wife in my arms. All I desire is to spend time with her.
Carla: Define spend time. Carla nuzzles her nose against his neck as Roy opens their chamber door. I have some ideas…
Roy: Roy chuckles at her coyness. His eyes close briefly at feeling of Carla’s breath against his neck. He steps inside their chambers and locks the door.
Well then, please enlighten me.
Roy puts Carla on the ground. His thumb traces her jawline before lifting her chin towards his gaze. His eyes reflect adoration, love, and rising heat. Carla’s thoughts scatter at his look.
Carla: Roy…She is overwhelmed. A part of her wonders if she closes her eyes if she’ll find this day, nay their entire relationship, nothing more than a dream. She grasps Roy’s free hand. It’s real, solid, radiating warmth. His fingers curl against hers on instinct.
Allow me to burn this beautiful image of you in my mind. Please.
Roy: His eyes widen with surprise—he has been called fair of face by many, but none have mattered before meeting Carla. His expression softens.
Take your time. The corner of his mouth quirks. Please inform me if I pass your inspection.
Carla: She walks a full circle around Roy, eyes roaming up and down from the tips of his shoes to the top of his head. Roy breathes heavier at her examination.
It’s not everyday a girl marries the most handsome prince in Saligia—inside and out. Her voice trails as her arms wrap around Roy’s back.
Roy: He embraces Carla softly, resting his head on top of hers. You understand you've completely melted me, yes?
Carla: You’re standing upright, so not ALL of you has melted. She kicks off her heels and nuzzles against his chest.
Roy: He is determined to make this a night she’ll never forget. One of joy, of gallantry—
Carla: How about we unwrap our…wedding presents? Her fingers untuck shirttails from Roy’s pants so she can caress his sides.
Roy: …gallantry be damned.
Carla: Her hands wander to Roy’s shoulders as she removes his jacket. Carla hums in approval as Roy’s hands travel up her back and slowly undo her dress.
I REALLY despise buttons. Her hands shake as the top three buttons of Roy’s shirt are undone. There is an innate satisfaction in unveiling one another’s skin with their own hands versus using magic—even if their wedding attire consists of the tiniest most cumbersome buttons in existence. Her lips lap Roy’s chest as more skin is exposed. Carla’s wedding dress falls to the ground in a pool of fabric.
Roy: You are exquisite. Beyond exquisite. Heartspell. I love you.
There are more eloquent ways to express these overflowing emotions. But, those are the words that matter.
Carla: Though they’ve come together many times before, this feels different. Her skin is covered in goosebumps as Roy’s fingers trace her curves. His touch is revenant yet burning. When Carla finally gets Roy’s shirt off, she gasps as she’s lifted in his arms. Her legs wrap around his waist, their kisses quickly becoming ravenous. Roy walks to the bed and lowers Carla down, his lips never leaving hers.
Carla’s hands drift to Roy’s waist to take off what remains of his attire. Despite their passionate sounds, Carla can’t help laughing as Roy kicks his shoes off with serious impatience.
And YOU may hate shoes as much as I hate buttons! Even as she laughs, her lips seek Roy’s body vigorously.
Roy: He half laughs, half growls in impatience. His hands finally remove the few articles of clothing clinging to their bodies.
Believe me, you’re well worth the effort of unraveling, dear wife. Roy groans as their lips devour each other, caressing said and unsaid desires.
Carla: Her fingers dig into his rose gold locks. Oh God Roy…
Roy: He moans at her touch, her body, her heart—it is pure heaven. His hands travel up her thighs, tracing every inch, seeking her heat.
Carla: This…this is a problem. She murmurs softly against his lips and neck. I want this moment to continue, but your fingers…oh, just like THAT.
Carla’s fingers dig into his shoulders as Roy’s fingers concentrate on her most sensitive spot, lightly at first and then encircling intently.
Roy: He laughs softly as she murmurs against him. Roy’s touches become all-consuming, her reactions driving him wild.
Just like this…yes? Roy feigns his questioning tone. He knows Carla loves it.
Carla: Her legs quiver from the sensations of Roy’s fingers in her. Carla feels rather than sees Roy smirk as his head is buried against her neck.
Roy, I…her eyes close as she becomes undone by his touch.
Roy: You already need me this much? He grins at her body’s quivering, the lurid wet sound of his fingers loving her. While he wants to savor his Carla, the wanton desire on her lips fuels a need to make her delirious with pleasure. Roy continues to twirl and pump his fingers the way she enjoys it until he brings Carla to her peak.
Carla: Her body convulses against Roy, her mind going blank. Carla clinches his shoulders and cries his name, lips pressed against the top of his head. Her body sinks in the bedsheets in the aftermath.
Roy…though her limbs still shake, Carla pulls Roy closer to her. She should not be the only one delighted this night. Plus, Carla wants to replace the slightly smug look on Roy’s face with another expression. She whispers in his ear.
Your turn. Her hands slide towards Roy’s waist, tracing light circles on his hips and upper thighs.
Roy: He groans softly in anticipation, his mind clouding as Carla pulls him closer. Roy’s breath is shallow and short, Carla’s fingers sending his body into overdrive.
Carla: I’m not the only one in need it seems. Carla purrs against his skin. One arm encircles Roy’s waist while the other tantalizes his length. Her lips press a wet trail across his upper chest and neck.
Just like this…yes? Carla mimics Roy’s previous teasing tone. Her face is flushed, but seeing Roy slowly come apart is an absolute treat. Her tongue swirls on his chest as her hand moves faster on him.
Roy: He groans as Carla’s tongue and fingers perform wonders. Carla’s name falls from his lips, as if it’s the only thing he can utter. Roy is certain his heart will explode from Carla’s ministrations. His hands clinch the bedsheets, his vocalizations intensifying.
Carla: And now to test how soundproof our chambers are.
She nips his neck, stroking him faster still until he comes undone. Carla takes her other hand and glides her fingertips across his whitening knuckles until they relax into her touch. Light kisses now cover bite marks in soothing pecks as Roy recovers.
Roy: Her actions send him to a point where he doesn’t care if the whole Castle hears him. His voice cries out and his body shakes and slumps. A towel is magically summoned to their bed.
It appears we both need this, Heartspell. Roy chuckles ruefully, wiping their bodies as he catches his breath. Carla rests her head on his chest. A smile spreads across her face when Roy drops a kiss on her forehead.
Carla: It appears so.
Carla breathes in a mingled scent of sweat and roses—Roy always smells sweet Carla thinks. She drapes an arm across his torso and lets a comfortable silence remain between them before speaking.
I said you were handsome in your suit Roy. But I prefer what you wear now. Carla can’t see Roy’s face from her position, but she can easily imagine his cheeks turning pink.
Roy: Is that so? Even when I am all...sweaty like this?
Carla: Yes. It’s you in your most natural state—no political trappings, no formal words, no masks. Just you and your heart exposed. Her speech is a bit sentimental so she tacks on an addendum. And no one else gets to see your pretty body and reactions but me. I rather like that.
Roy: He responds back in a teasing tone. You just had the best view then, did you not?
Carla: Carla buries her head against Roy’s chest and laughs heartily. Cheeky man.
Roy: I can never resist teasing my gorgeous wife.
Carla: You couldn’t resist teasing when I was your consort or fiancé, you know.
Roy: Well, you make it so easy. How am I supposed to ignore teasing someone as beautiful as you?
Carla: Carla sits up, looking down at Roy in mock indignation. Oh, so it’s MY fault?
Roy: Of course it is. Who else's could it be?
Carla: Perhaps, JUST PERHAPS, the rascal prince I’ve married!
She throws a pillow in Roy’s direction, but then notices rose petals on it. She scans her surroundings and sees the bed and most of the carpet sprinkled with rose petals, the room cast in a golden light from numerous candles.
Roy… Carla gestures to candles and roses. You sweet man…. Her cheeks turn pink.
Roy: His eyes catch Carla’s glances at the room. It’s a cute reaction he’s compelled to play with. Roy sits up, grabs another pillow, and tosses it towards Carla. Oh, did you just notice the candles and flowers?
Carla: YES! She deflects the pillow.
Roy: You can thank Nica for supplying the petals. A much better use of them I dare say. Roy smirks and tucks a strand of hair behind Carla’s ear. Too bad you didn’t see them until now. Were you distracted?
Carla: I was as distracted as YOU were! Or were our moans not indicative of this?
Roy: You do inspire quite the response from me. His fingers caress the back of Carla’s neck. And here I thought I was a good, quiet boy.
Carla: HA! She launches herself so Roy’s on his back and she’s lying on top of him. You’re good in another context though…
Roy: And what context is that?
Carla: The “your wife wants to pounce you” context. Carla straddles Roy’s hips enticingly and presses her lips to his.
Roy: Her playful desire envelopes Roy. Their kisses grow intense, thorough, and ravenous. They crave without hesitation or restraint. Roy twines his fingers in Carla’s hair and uses momentum to flip their positions. His hips move against hers, entering her in one smooth powerful stroke. They gasp at the instant fireworks unleashed.
Carla: She is mesmerized—his lips, his touch, the way he yearns for more intimacy, the blaze of Roy’s golden eyes as they give into the moment of being husband and wife in every sense of the word.
Roy…Carla hopes he can feel the passion she has for him. More.
Roy: Roy calls out to her, eyes aflame, skin on fire. He presses further into her, their rhythm increasing rapidly.
Feel me. With all that I am.
Lips devour, seeking her everything—her cries, her sighs, the words she tries to express. Roy tries slowing their pace to prolong the moment, but it’s no use. Carla matches his pace, digging her fingers against his back as the pounding pressure crescendos. Roy encircles one arm under Carla’s waist and tips her slightly upwards, pressing further until they hurdle over the edge together, their voices crying out.
Carla: She feels Roy collapse on her shoulder. They roll onto their sides, clinging to one another. Carla maneuvers her position slightly. She closes her eyes and slowly massages Roy’s scalp, his head resting between her breasts.
Ahhh, so this is what happens when we pounce each other.
Roy: Yes, and your claws are truly sharp.
Carla: What would people say if they knew WHY their prince was so tired now? Her words are soft.
Roy: He murmurs. They would understand it was due to our constant pouncing. Very constant.
Carla: Carla yawns, her fingers slowing to a stop.
Roy: Roy moves back upwards, gathering Carla in his arms. Rest up Heartspell. There’s still the rest of the honeymoon to enjoy. He runs his fingers through her hair, savoring her presence, until they both succumb to slumber.

Gentle Hands and Warm Hearts
Fandom: Grishaverse: Six of Crows Summary: The whole point of the polycule is so that each of them can get the care that they need without putting it all on one other person. That should, arguably, mean that Jesper and Nina don't have to do this but they find themselves hiding it away every time they do, as if it's something shameful. Or, the five times that Jesper and Nina got caught together and the one time that they sought their partners out. Warnings: Mentions of child abuse, haphephobia, mentions of sexual abuse, minor sexual content, and anxiety Word Count: 6,226 Ship(s): Nina Zenik/Jesper Fahey/Wylan Van Eck/Matthias Helvar/Inej Ghafa/Kaz Brekker

A/N: So I really like this idea but I'm not entirely happy with the execution. I feel like the dialogue in this fic is a bit awkward and I had to correct a lot of stuff. I think that it's come out a little bit better than when I found it, but I'm not entirely happy with it yet. I hope that you can all still enjoy it, though! Stay sissy and bitchy everyone <3
1.
They were all clamored around each other, as they often were on date nights. Matthias had his arm looped around Wylan’s hips to keep the smaller man somewhat close to him, though they would both take several minute breaks whenever the touch began to get too much for them. It was hard to adjust to having so many partners when they had gone almost their entire life with touch being out of reach, after all. Kaz knew the feeling, since, while he had been able to overcome his haphephobia enough to maintain the kind of relationship that he wanted with his partners on most days, there were times that he still felt the waters of the harbor lapping at his ankles. He knew that Inej was going through the same thing, wading through hip-deep memories of when she had been in the same place as the people that she was now saving.
They reached the theater without anyone stopping them and with very few people staring at them. The only exception was when Nina had begun begging Kaz and Matthias to let her have some of the fried bread that was being sold in a cart outside of the entrance. They had given into her almost immediately, neither of them were very good about saying no to her when she looked at them with that delicately pouting lip.
They were shown up to the private box that Kaz had reserved for them so that they could watch the show without having to worry about people behind them. He sat in the front row with Inej beside him, though there was a chair between them so that they could speak to each other without being overwhelmed. Matthias and Wylan sat with a chair between them and the other duo, though they were next to each other with the arm down between them.
“Why are you sitting so far away from us?” Kaz asked when he turned and saw that Jesper had taken up residence in the row behind them.
“Nina and I are going to be very annoying during this show,” Jesper explained with a half shrug. “We didn’t want to ruin it for everyone else by making fun of every other thing the whole time.”
That was a reasonable enough explanation for everyone, so they turned their attention back to the stage. None of them turned around when they heard Nina return to their box with the concessions that she had slipped away to buy for herself. She dropped a candybar down into each of their laps without touching any of them and then flopped down into the chair beside Jesper so that she mirrored the other duo.
The stage lights lit up as everything else was dimmed so that their attention was on the actors alone. The music picked up when the two leads stepped out on stage during their first scene together, keeping each member of the polycule transfixed on what was happening. The score mixed very well with the script that the troupe had chosen. The story itself was a little bit dull, but the performance, combined with the aerialists swinging through the air in increasingly complicated styles, were enough to keep the entire audience fixated on the stage.
Throughout the entire play, just as they had promised, Jesper and Nina whispered to each other as they made jokes about what was happening.
The intermission for the play came at about an hour into the proceedings. The curtain lowered and the aerialists climbed into the catwalk above so that they could reset for whatever was going to happen next. Nina and Jesper began to talk to each other louder to continue the jokes that they had been making when the rest of the theater came alive as well.
Kaz got up so that he could stretch out his leg in the cramped box. Matthias disappeared so that he could get something to eat while Wylan stretched out, long and cat-like in his seat. He turned to Inej so that he could strike up a conversation with her about what went into the tricks that they were doing on the stage, which she was very happy to entertain.
Kaz watched her talk for a while, admiring the side of her face and the shining brightness that she somehow always seemed to bring with her. He wished that he could hold her beauty in his hands at all times, to admire her elegance and the warmth that she flooded into the world no matter what.
He was growing bored since he was listening to a conversation that he had with her more times than he could count. He turned his attention away from the giddy way that his girlfriend spoke to his boyfriend and instead directed it to Jesper and Nina.
She had a handful of popcorn halfway to her mouth while he balanced a kernel on the tip of his nose, his mouth wide open like it was somehow guaranteed that treat would fall down in that specific direction if it began to tip. Nina laughed with the joy of someone that was truly healed and free, no more the shaking, scared woman that she had been on the ship after she had taken the parem so that they could be free from Fjerda. Jesper looked brighter and happier, yet at the same time more grounded, than he had been in a very long time. Kaz knew that they were helping each other with their powers and learning how to love that part of themselves, something that none of the others could really relate to.
He let his eyes travel down and then smirked slightly when he realized what they were doing. Jesper’s dark brown skin stood starkly against the pale yet freckled shade that Nina’s was. Their fingers were also wildly different sizes, but they still fit together like a key sliding into the lock that it was made for.
Kaz leaned forward on the chairs, tilting his hips so that the throbbing pain decreased as much as it ever did. “Are you sure that the two of you didn’t just sit back there so that you could hold hands?” he asked, jerking them both from their activities.
Despite the odds, the kernel of popcorn did roll down off Jesper’s nose and directly into his open mouth. He threw both of his hands up into the air at the same time, which got the attention of their other two partners. Kaz noticed, with a bit of disappointment, that Nina had dropped his hand so that she could continue to shovel popcorn into her mouth.
She stood and dumped the bucket down into Inej’s lap as she said, “I know that Matthias said he was going to go get some more but he’s so distracted with Wylan tonight that he’s likely to forget my sweet Inej, so I want to make sure that you had some.”
“Thank you, love,” Inej laughed, that warmth and brightness flooding out of her like an endless river. Kaz was then distracted from the confusion that the duo separating so quickly had brought to him, focusing instead on the antics that the rest of his partners were pulling.
2.
It was a very cold day in Ketterdam, but those were common. Wylan had grown up in the city in his entire life and even though he was often hidden behind big doors and windows that kept him separated both physically and metaphorically from the weather, he had been aware of it. He liked the cold, it made it easier for him to work in his lab without overheating. It also meant that he was more likely to find a cuddly Jesper when he walked home for lunch after his meetings with the Merchant Council.
He knew why they liked to meet in the mornings, since it was before a lot of the boats that they needed to do business with docked back in the harbors, but his lovers pulled so many late nights that if often left Wylan feeling absolutely exhausted.
He stifled a yawn behind the back of his hand and then pulled his heavy coat tighter around his body. He walked past one of the dewey storefront windows and had to stop for a minute so that he could examine himself. He had done something similar several years ago, when he was wearing the face of one of their closest friends.
This was far different than that was. He had the face that he had known the entire time that he was growing up, even if he had let Genya go a little further than he really should have. He had the same pale skin and bright blue eyes that he had seen over and over again when he had discovered that his mother was still alive. His chin had a gentle curve that went with the near-button nose in the center of his face. The thing that was different than when he normally looked at himself was his clothing.
He had been dressed in white button up shirts and pressed slacks for as long as he could remember, but wearing the black vests and overcoats that were typical of Merchers felt like he was putting on another costume. He knew that Kaz dressed like a Mercher to make the men that hoarded that power uncomfortable, a costume of sorts for him as well, but it was strange for Wylan to do the same thing. On one hand, he had inherited all of the land and fortune that his father had tried to deny him due to his inability to read, so he was actually a Mercher. On the other hand, he was still one of the international criminals that had broken into the Ice Court and stole one of the most wanted people in the entire world.
Wylan shook his head to clear it of the thoughts and continued home. He knew that everything felt heavier after one of those meetings because they took so much out of him. He wanted nothing more than to go home and check on the puppies that should have been fully whelped seeing as Matthias’ favorite bitch, a wolfhound named Mila, had gone into labor the night before. Coming home meant he also got to see most of his favorite people in the entire world, even if Kaz was going to be at work and Inej was one another one of her long voyages.
So he carried through the streets of Ketterdam until he approached East Stave. He slipped into the back alleys were no one would be able to tell where he was or follow him. He hadn’t known the paths of the city as well as Kaz had only a few years ago, but days of traveling using only them had piled into his repertoire so he could walk through any part of the city using any path.
He walked through the back door of his home and smiled when he heard the low voice of two of his partners in the living room, combined with the sound of a crackling fire. Wylan shed his heavy coat and hung it on the hook so that the wool would dry out, a couple droplets of rain had begun to come down when he had been on the last leg of his journey. He set the briefcase full of papers down in the office that he and Kaz used for when they had to bring their work home. Wylan was about to go on vacation so he didn’t have to find someone to help him read them just yet.
Instead, he traveled up to the bedroom so that he could change into something that was more comfortable. The starched shirt and stiff pants were hung back up in the closet like they always were when he came back from one of his missions. He changed them out for a pair of comfortable brown slacks and a baggy gray shirt that kept out some of the cold that was still leaking through the well-sealed windows.
He traveled back down the stairs and then peaked into the massive room where Matthias kept his dogs, the only other door in it leading to the dog run that they had in their backyard. He was about to go check on the squirming mass of fur when he heard a snore emitting from his boyfriend. The birth of puppies was the most stressful part of breeding, according to Matthias, so he always stayed up to make sure that everything went smoothly when one of his bitches went into labor. Given that it had been early in the evening when Mila had started nesting, Wylan knew that Matthias had been awake almost all night.
Instead of going inside, he carefully shut the door and then walked towards the living room so that he could join the partners that he hadn’t seen yet. He stopped before he crossed the threshold when he noticed that something was off about the room.
Usually there was a long couch directly in front of the mantel, a loveseat kitty corner to the right side, and then a pair of chairs on the other side. They had a table that went in between the chairs and then a large coffee table pinning down the rug in the middle. It made the room closed enough that they felt like they were in a den, but open enough that no one had to be touching anyone else unless they wanted to.
It took Wylan only a minute before he realized what the difference in the space was. Someone had moved the couch back about six inches and had placed the coffee table behind it, including all of the cups and dishes that remained there since their breakfast.
Pinning the rug down instead of their table was a pair of people that Wylan had grown very fond of. Nina was wearing a loose fitting red dress that billowed out around her like a pool of blood, which stood starkly against the pale of her skin and the dark brown of her hair. Jesper was weaning one of his linen button-up shirts and a skirt that as the same color red as Nina’s dress. They were turned towards each other so that their foreheads were pressed together, their hands pulling at each other’s clothes like they were both bored. They were giggling and talking in voices quiet enough that Wylan couldn’t quite make out what they were saying.
He walked over to the loveseat, placing his hands down on the top of it. “Since when did we decide that we would be redecorating the living room?” he asked, trying to resist the grin that was spreading across his features.
He loved the duo more than he knew how to say, even if his love for them was different. He loved Jesper, Matthias, and Kaz in a way that was deeply romantic and sexual. He loved Inej and Nina in a way that was just as passionate but also so starkly not romantic and clearly not sexual. He wanted to be close to them, to know their innermost workings. He wanted to hold hands and sit beside them, but he didn’t want to kiss them or have sex with them, even when he was having one of those days where he was craving that kind of intimacy.
As soon as he spoke, they sprang apart from each other. Nina climbed up onto one of the chairs as she worked some of the knots out of her long, curly brown hair. Jesper simply rose to his feet so that he was once again towering over the merchant. “Wy! You were gone before we woke up this morning, how did the meeting go?”
He was shocked at how quickly their demeanor had changed, but didn’t say anything about it even when Nina began to pull the couch back to where it belonged. He just told them about the tasks that he wasn’t looking forward to dealing with and the headache that was waiting for him at the end of his vacation. Whatever they were doing was their business, he wasn’t going to pretend like he understood what their love was like.
3.
Long trips wore all of them out, but Matthias always felt exhausted when they finally arrived at their destination. He had a lot of memories wrapped up in travel and he didn’t think that it was something that was ever going to go away. He had spent a lot of his childhood going on very small journeys with his mother when they were heading into town from their home out in the woods and with his father when he was learning how to hunt so that he could provide for his future family. Then when he was with the Druskelle, they had spent a lot of their time traveling between the Ice Court and whatever other training facility that it had been decided would be best for them. When he had actually graduated, he had traveled to every country under the sun and even a couple of others that seemed to be in only darkness so that he could look for the witches that they had been hunting back then.
Even when they were walking down the long, dusty paths so that they could stay with Jesper’s father over the Zemini’s winter holiday, he still ended up feeling like he was trudging through sludge by the time that they got to the cabin. It left him exhausted down to his bones, which made Kaz tease him that he was getting old despite them all being about the same age.
He managed to stay upright on his feet long enough to get all of their bags into the little back room that they were going to be sleeping in before he collapsed down onto his cot. He only managed a nap before the smell of dinner made him wake up.
Jesper had made Zemini food for them back in Ketterdam fairly often since he was one of the two people in their entire polycule who knew how to cook and Nina liked to stick with baking. He always complained the that the spices and ingredients that they were able to get off the boats in Ketterdam were nothing compared to the fresh ones that he got back home. Now that they were actually in the country that the ingredients originated in, Matthias was excited to be able to try some of their favorites with the flavor that they were meant to have.
He hauled himself up from the cot and then blearily rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He was alerted to how nearly overheated he was when he stood up and his head began to swim. He removed the thick riding shirt that he was wearing so that he was in nothing but the loose cotton undershirt that he had donned back when they were in Shriftport. He was so used to the cold of Fjerda and then the nipping damp of Ketterdam that it actually astounded him that a place could be as warm as Novyi Zem was without the entire place being bleached white from the oppressive force of the sun.
Matthias walked out of the small room and then looked towards the kitchen where Jesper was. He smiled softly when he saw that his partner was dressed in nothing but a cotton undershirt as well, the sweat from standing over the stove having soaked through the garment so that it was clinging to his skin. It was reassuring to know that he wasn’t the only one that was suffering in the heat.
His cheeks turned red when he saw that Nina and Jesper were actually together, the others seemingly elsewhere on the farm. Matthias vaguely remembered something about Wylan and Inej wanting to see Kaz’s magic bird skills in action with the mean chickens that the Faheys owned. Nina was dressed in her slip and bloomers to beat the heat of the kitchen, but they were also clinging to her body with sweat.
Jesper turned around, singing a song in Zemini so softly that it was almost under his breath. Nina was singing along to it as her hands slowly traveled up his arms until they were resting on his shoulders. She threaded her fingers around the back of Jesper’s neck and brought their lips into a slow kiss. They were standing so close that their bodies were pressed together, though Matthias wasn’t quite sure how they were managing that in the heat.
He watched them dance, sharing kisses during the breaks of the song, for as long as he could manage before his stomach gave a loud grumble. The noise let them know that he was there and they sprang apart, both of them blushing furiously, though it might have just been the temperature from the outside combining with the steam raising from the pot on the stove.
“Matty, would you go outside and let the others know that dinner is ready? You’re the most dressed out of all of us and I need to get some of Ma’s old clothes for Nina since all she packed were things that would kill a polar bear in a Fjerdan winter,” Jesper said.
“It’s the winter in Ketterdam! How was I supposed to know that this was when Novyi Zem got hotter?” Nina asked, indignant but smiling. She brushed past Matthias after sharing a very brief kiss with him. He barely had time to say anything before he was being shepherded out of the door with a spoon that was covered in something that smelled absolutely heavenly.
4.
Nina knew that she was cutting it close. Despite what her partners thought, she was actually very good at time keeping. She had to be given that she had been a student during a time of war and had been to more classes than the rest of her peers combined so that she could learn all of the languages that were now familiar to her. She just didn’t care about time when it wasn’t something that was crucial to their survival or wasn’t going to give her something that she wanted.
Now was one of those times. She knew that if she pushed the time that she was supposed to meet up with Matthias the only thing that would be waiting for her would be a grumbling boyfriend who would be soothed with a bat of her eyelashes and a kiss or two. No one was going to die, no teachers were going to come after her, and she would only be a few minutes late at the very least.
So once she was finished tugging her bodice into place over her skirt, she took her time while getting her hair spooled onto the back of her head. She left one of the elaborate ringlets that decorated her head loose around her face so that it made the freckles on her cheeks and nose stand out.
She figured that she had a bit of time left over after she finished getting dressed despite her late start, so she might as well go find one of her other boyfriends while she was at it. When she finally found him, he was sitting in his room in front of the workbench that he used to clean his guns and practice his Grisha abilities. “Hello, sweetheart,” she beamed as she knocked on the frame of the door to get his attention.
He jerked away from the project that he had been focused on and then beamed at her like she was the sun and moon combined together. “You look beautiful, darling,” he whispered as he reached a hand out towards her.
She stepped into his room and then took it, only to find that he used it to spin her around. He took in the full majesty of the outfit that she had chosen, his other hand grazing against her waist to keep her in the same spot in front of him. Then, he grasped her other hand so that her arms were crossed in front of her. Jesper used that to slip her into a hug, pressing their bodies directly into each other so that they were swaying to the music of their combined heartbeats. For a moment, Nina wished that she could still hear them.
“You’re going to have to let me take you to a dance sometime, especially in this dress,” he growled as he teasingly bit just underneath her jaw.
She giggled and tilted her head away from him so that he would have more space to work. “If we were going to a dance then I think I would wear something more svelte than this. Like that little black number that I got to accompany Wylan to that ball he really didn’t want to go to.”
Jesper moaned into the skin of her neck and she almost felt like she was dying. Wherever his hands were touching felt like they were on fire in a way that she couldn’t get enough of. It was just like the parem had made her feel, but healthier and beneficial to her. “I loved you in that dress.”
“Oh yeah? Show me,” she whispered when their noses were a hair’s breadth apart and she could already feel the arousal burning inside of him.
He didn’t wait even a second as he crashed their lips together in a burning kiss. Nina felt like he was trying to draw her soul out through her mouth and she was happy to let him do it. Their lips moved in perfect time with each other and his hands felt solid and grounding on her hips. His body was warm against her in a way that made butterflies shutter through her system so that she felt almost as though she was flying.
The entire world had melted away until they heard someone stop at the doorway, which caused them to fly away. “Am I really that late?” she asked as she looked to the perpetually broken clock hanging above Jesper’s wall.
“You are. I was worried, even though it looks like I did not need to be,” Matthias chuckled. She knew that it was good natured and there was no malice behind it, but she couldn’t help the shame that was burning in her cheeks at the words. She linked her arm through his and then began to ask him what he thought about her hair and her outfit while she led him back out into the street so that they could start their date.
5.
She let her feet carry her to the easy access points to the roofs of Ketterdam. Gliding from shingled roof to smokestack to flat industrial tents felt like coming home as much as the smell of the sea and bread baking in an oven did. Inej found her thoughts drifting while she traveled back to the home that she had made with her partners, showing her just how little she needed to pay attention to where she was going after all of the time that she had spent flitting over the tops of the city.
She landed on the balcony that led into the master bedroom that they all used when they were feeling up to sleeping with each other. When she noticed that no one was in there, she flipped over to Nina’s balcony. Her girlfriend had apparently recently taken to gardening, based on the geraniums and poppies that she had managed to coax into blooming in the same planter box along the outside of the balcony. Inej imagined that Jesper and Kaz, the duo that had the most previous experience when it came to growing things, had likely tried to tell her not to. Wylan had likely made some sort of special formula that made the ground more fertile so that her beloved blossoms wouldn’t wilt and die. Matthias had most definitely been the person to actually remember to water the flowers.
She smiled fondly as she thought about how desperately she wanted to see them all again. She turned towards the aforementioned woman’s room so that she could see if there was anyone that she could startle in there.
She saw two figures on top of the blankets, but the sky was just dark enough that she wasn’t to make them out properly through the warped glass. She pressed her hand flat against the window and then slipped it open so that she could wiggle her body silently through the opening, but she paused as soon as she had a clear view.
Inej could see a lot more clearly who it was and what they were doing. Jesper’s tall form had his head against the headboard and his toes just barely pressing against the baseboard of Nina’s bed. His entire bare back was on display for her to see, including the silvery white scars from their early time together in the Barrel. His arms were wrapped around a body that was shaped very differently than his. When he rolled over, she was able to see that it was Nina.
They were both totally in the nude but they had a blanket vaguely draped over their legs so that they could avoid the chill of the incoming spring night. Nina had her long hair vaguely tied back so that it was out of her face with the tie that Inej had given her out of the first rope that had snapped on her ship. Jesper had his arms draped lower over Nina’s hips so that he was vaguely holding onto her thighs. Nina was leaned forward so that her forehead was against his neck. Their entire fronts were pressed together in a way that told Inej that Jesper was inside of Nina.
She was expecting to hear moans and see movement, but the only thing that she heard was the sniffling and hiccuping that came with crying. They were still except for the fidgeting that came whenever Jesper wasn’t actively running away from something.
She felt oddly voyeuristic even though she had watched them do a lot of things that were far more dramatic than nude cuddling. So instead of continuing to spy on them, she placed her legs down on the inside of the windowsil so that her toes could brush against the floor. She then knocked on the wall next to her so that they were alerted to her presence.
They jumped and turned towards the sound, both of them obviously confused before the color drained from them both. They separated from each other and scrambled to get their clothes on. Nina was wearing her shift and a pair of bloomers by the time that Inej properly stepped into the room.
“Inej, you’re back early!”
“I am,” she nodded.
She opened her mouth to ask what they had been doing before she was interrupted by Jesper saying, “Have the others seen you yet or did you come to visit your favorites first?”
“I don’t have favorites,” she answered, forgetting what had been happening before despite them still getting their clothes back to rights.
+1
Jesper hated having to tell people about things that he was feeling. It was the one thing that made him a terrible boyfriend, outside of the inherent danger that his zowa abilities posed to his partners and his gambling addiction. Thinking about having to admit the reason that he and Nina had been so cagey about their affection with each other during the last six months made his stomach tie itself into an impossibly tight ball that he wasn’t sure he was ever going to get to come undone.
He knew that she was right, though. They had been walked in on when they were cuddling and touching each other more times than they could count and their partners were going to get suspicious. It was strange for them, since they were actually dating each other, to act like they were having an affair. They were dating the most dangerous and intelligent people in Ketterdam so there was no way that they were going to continue to get away with it.
Nina threaded her fingers together with Jesper’s and then kissed his cheek to remind him that she was going to be by his side through the entire process. That gave him the strength to do what needed to be done, as being touched almost always did.
They headed down the hall and into the main living room where everyone else had already positioned themselves. Matthias and Kaz were discussing some business venture involving another disgraced Druskelle in the chairs. Wylan was stretched over the loveseat while drawing something. Inej was napping on the couch, but she woke up as soon as she heard the two new people walk into the room.
“What’s going on?” she asked, able to pick up on the tense body language from Jesper immediately.
The duo walked so that they were standing in front of the empty fireplace so that no one had to crane their heads or look behind themselves while they had their conversation. “We have to talk to you about something,” Jesper managed to get out before he felt his throat constrict with fear.
“It’s nothing bad,” Nina quickly explained. “It’s just something that we want to explain before it does turn into something bad.”
He nodded in agreement. He looked over his partners and felt suddenly very put on the spot when he noticed that all four pairs of eyes were glued directly onto him. Usually he liked it when everyone was paying attention to him because that fed that part of his ego that made him feel so good. Right now, though, it felt like he was in trouble.
“Nina and I like to cuddle,” he blurted, awkwardly.
“Treasure, we all like to cuddle each other,” Kaz said. “Inej and I slightly less often, sure, but that doesn’t mean that this is something that has never been done within the Crows.”
“That’s just it,” Jesper shook his head. “You have haphephobia, Inej has her trauma from the Menagerie, Matthias gets easily overstimulated by touch, and Wylan doesn’t like having too much of it because of what he went through when he was a kid. Nina and I don’t have any of that so whenever we need the long-lasting touch we go to each other so that we can get it from someone else that wants it.”
“I’m confused, I thought that was the whole point of us all dating each other?” Wylan asked as he set his pad of paper down onto the table next to him.
“I’m confused about you two liking to cuddle specifically. Every time someone else comes into the room you immediately focus on them instead,” Inej commented as she and Wylan shared a look with each other.
“That’s just it! We like cuddling but…” Nina shifted awkwardly as she looked up to Jesper. He gave her the same kind of reassuring smile that she had given to him before they had come into the living room to face the rest of their partners.
They paused for a while, letting the nerves in Jesper’s stomach settle out. “The reason that we’ve been acting so weird around each other is because we don’t want any of the rest of you to feel like you’re inadequate for us because you can’t handle as much touch as we need. We want to make sure that you all feel loved and appreciated without overwhelming you.”
The others were quiet for a long time, simply staring at their partners like the duo had grown an extra head that was keeping them attached at the shoulders. Then Kaz began to laugh behind his gloved hand, shaking his head like he was in utter disbelief despite the turmoil that the whole situation had caused his partners, “Ghezen and all that is Holy. You two are so sweet that you’re going to make my teeth fall out.”
Inej reached across the space with her foot so that she could kick the chair just enough to get him to jerk. She then turned back to the duo with a soft expression, “We really love the fact that you’ve found a way to soothe that facet of yourselves in a way that benefits everyone. Thank you for telling us so we don’t have to worry anymore.”
“I was beginning to worry, it was so strange the way that you were acting,” Wylan nodded in agreement. “I thought that maybe you were hiding some sort of secret Grisha club.”
Matthias gave a small shudder at that and then frowned when he no doubt began to correct his thoughts. None of the other partners plied into what he was thinking when they all began to go back to their own tasks. Nina and Jesper settled down on the rug in front of the hearth after they had moved the coffee table again, talking about their day. This time they were also given insight from Kaz and Wylan, who were now free to listen to them and watch them cuddling even if they weren’t up for the task.

Book: The Royal Romance
Pairing: Liam x Riley
All characters, and some of the dialogue, belong to Pixelberry.
Summary: Liam finds a new way to express his feelings for Riley.
Rating: G
Word Count: 2,108
A/N: I am participating in @choicesflashfics, using the prompt "The word ‘love’ doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of what I feel for you." It will be in bold below.
A/N 2: This is a HC I've had for my Liam and Riley for a long time, but it's not something I could just slip into stories without explaining it. I've told it to a couple of people, and @charlotteg234 pushed me to write a fic explaining it. I started it a few months ago, and it sat in that WIP black hole that is my Google Drive. Then this week's Flash Fic prompts came out and this one fit in too perfectly for me to not use.
A/N 3: I procrastinated real bad on this one, so I didn't finish in time to have anyone pre-read it, so please excuse (m)any spelling or grammar errors.
Tumblr media
“I think we have time for one more question.” Riley addressed the crowd before turning to Liam to confirm. He smiled at her, and nodded in agreement.
He didn’t hear the question, or her answer, he was too transfixed by his new bride. She had only been his wife, and Cordonia’s queen for a few days, though you would never know it by the way she carried herself. She was so poised, so well spoken. Since she had arrived in Cordonia, she had surprised everyone with her ability to handle all aspects of noble life.
As she continued to address the crowd he felt something inside of him. It was more than pride, it was more than love even. He had no words to express how strongly he felt for this amazing creature before him.
Liam hadn’t even noticed that Riley was finished until he felt her arm linking through his. She looked at him questioningly, and all he could do was smile in return. They posed for a couple of pictures before moving inside and heading to Liam’s office.
When they arrived in his office, he took a seat behind his desk as Riley took a seat on one of the chairs on the opposite side. He smirked and shook his head at her. She arched her brow in response, and he lifted his hand, crooking his index finger in a come hither motion. When she had made it to the other side of the desk, he took her hand and lowered her into his lap.
“You were incredible out there, my love.” He cupped her face in his hand, stroking her cheek with his thumb.
Riley shrugged in response. “I really didn’t do much. Just gave our statement and answered a couple of basic questions.”
Liam grinned, shaking his head in disbelief. “Riley, I wish you wouldn’t discredit yourself like that. Just a couple of months ago, you were working two jobs trying to get by in New York, and now you’re successfully ruling a country, and making my dreams come true on a daily basis.”
She dropped her eyes to the floor, a blush coming across her cheeks. He responded by slipping a finger under her chin lifting her gaze to meet his. “I mean it Riley, I was watching you out there and trying to find the right words to describe how I was feeling. The word ‘love’ doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of what I feel for you. Sometimes, I look at you, and all I want is to propose to you all over again.”
She blinked quickly, trying to hold back the tears that were forming at her husband’s declaration. “You can ask me to marry you as many times as you want. I’ll always say yes.” She leaned in, kissing him softly.
“Good to know.” He replied before pulling her lips back to his.
***
“That’s correct,” Riley agreed solemnly. “I had been brought to the maze under the false pretense that my husband was looking for me. The next thing I remember is waking up, tied to a chair in a dungeon.”
The courtroom was silent as the Queen of Cordonia recalled the events of the Unity Tour, culminating with the multiple attacks and inevitable showdown with the Sons of Earth that finally came to a head on her wedding day. Anton Severus was on trial for leading the charge against the crown, and Riley had been called to the stand to testify.
The news stories that followed the attacks spoke at a high level, and provided minimal detail about the events themselves, so most of the people in attendance were hearing the details for the first time. One person who was already intimately familiar with the attacks was Liam. As he watched his wife sit there, perfectly composed and poised, all he could think about was their wedding night, and her breakdown once they were behind closed doors.
From the time she arrived in Cordonia, Riley had faced an onslaught of obstacles, and she faced each one with the same grace that she was showing on the stand. And she went through all of it for him.
She had always been good at masking her pain until she was behind closed doors, but Liam had picked up on her tells rather quickly. He noticed that the emotions she had felt back then were resurfacing, and that she was surprised by it. However, she was hiding it well, he was certain that no one else had caught on.
“Thank you, your majesty, you may step down.” The judge’s voice pulled Liam from his thoughts.
As Riley moved toward Liam, the judge dismissed everyone for the day. Liam stood, taking his wife’s hand in his before leading her out of the courtroom. They walked silently out of the courthouse where the press were waiting for the king and queen to make a statement.
When they saw the royal couple emerge, flashbulbs started going off, and reporters started shouting questions. Liam squeezed Riley’s hand, when she looked up at him she saw the question in his eyes. She gave him a practiced smile and a nod before stepping up to the crowd.
“Your majesties, how did things go today?” One of the reporters shouted out.
Liam stepped forward to field the question, but Riley tugged on his arm as she moved beside him. “Well, of course we won’t know for sure until the trial is over, and the ruling has been announced, but I think it’s safe to say justice will prevail.” The crowd cheered, and the pair used the opportunity as a distraction to slip away, and into their SVU.
“I’m sorry love, we should have gone out the back.” Liam apologized as the car pulled away.
“It’s fine. We need to give the people what they want. It’s our job.” Riley responded as she watched the scenery pass by out the window.
Liam placed his hand over Riley’s. “Are you alright?” Riley shrugged in reply, her eyes never leaving the window. “Riley, look at me.” She slowly turned, and he saw the sadness in her eyes.
“Sorry,” she apologized immediately, wiping away a stray tear. “Today was a lot.”
“Love, you have nothing to apologize for, you were amazing today.” He cupped her cheek and pressed his lips against hers softly. “I saw how hard that was for you, but I promise you nobody else did.”
“You think?”
“I know.” He affirmed. “You are everything a country could ever want or need in a queen. You were strong, and confident. Then, you stepped right out in front of the press and, despite being drained from your testimony, gave the perfect statement.” He looked at her adoringly, as a small smile slowly spread across her face. “Marry me?” He said softly.
“Always.” She whispered in response.
***
Riley found a secluded clearing beside the Walker ranch and began pacing, her mind going far too fast to stand still. The music and laughter from Bertrand and Savannah’s wedding had faded, she didn’t know if it was because of the distance, or if she just had too much on her mind for the outside noise to register.
She was going through what seemed like a never ending checklist of things that would need to get done in the coming month. She froze in place when she thought of the first, and most important thing she needed to do. She took a deep breath before reaching for her phone and sending a quick text.
As she waited, she fidgeted with her phone, her toe tapping against the grass. She was nervous, but it was a good nervous. She heard a throat clearing and looked up to see Liam taking purposeful strides toward her with a flirtatious smirk on his face.
“So, here we are, alone together…” He said in a smoky tone.
Riley’s brow furrowed, too caught up in her announcement to comprehend his advancements. “Huh?”
Liam stopped in his tracks, noticing his wife’s confusion. “It sounded urgent, and you said there was a surprise… I assumed you wanted to…”
“Oh… OH! No, actually, that;s not what I meant.” She stepped toward him, taking his hand in hers. “But I have some news that’s even better than that.”
“Well, I don’t know if there’s anything that could be better than that,” he said with a wink. “But I’m all ears.”
She took a deep breath and gave his hand a gentle squeeze. Liam, I wanted a moment alone… just the three of us.”
“Three? What do you–” She watched his face as he listened to her words. Suddenly, a wave of understanding washed over him. “We’re having a baby?” His voice was barely above a whisper, still trying to fully process the information.
Riley’s smile grew as she nodded in response. He pulled her to him, holding her close and placing a kiss on the crown of her head.
“Riley, I’m the happiest man in the world right now. Just think, soon we’ll be holding a little baby… our baby…” His happy expression quickly turned to shock as he stepped away from Riley and began pacing back and forth.
“There’s so much to do! We’re going to need a crib, and clothes, and a bassinet for the throne room.” He stops in his tracks and slaps his hand against his forehead. “The throne room! We’ll need to childproof it! As well as the foyer, the antechamber, the solarium…” He ticks off each room on a finger as he lists them.
“Liam,” Riley placed her hands on either side of his face, halting his movements. “Relax, we’ll have time for all of that.”
They stood in silence for a moment, staring into eachothers eyes as they let the excitement of the moment wash over them.
“We’re going to have a baby.” Liam said.
“We sure are.”
Liam pulled Riley into a lingering kiss. “Marry me?” He said against her lips.
“Always.” She responded before kissing him again.
***
Liam entered the royal quarters quietly. He had been stuck in his office late, the children would be fast asleep by now. As much as he wanted to see them, he knew nothing good could come from waking Eleanor and David at this hour.
Much to his surprise, when he got to his bedroom, Riley was nowhere to be found. “Love? I’m home.” He called quietly.
“Be right out!” She called from her closet.
He quirked a brow when he saw Riley emerged with a suitcase. “And where do you think you’re going?”
“Not me, we.” She chuckled at his confusion. “You’ve been so overextended lately, you’re getting burnt out. And I know, I know, King of Cordonia, it comes with the territory, blah blah blah.” She waived her hand, dismissing the objections she knew were coming. “But you’re not going to be an effective ruler if you don’t get time to reset and recharge.”
“So will we be staying at Applewood or Valtoria?” He asked, knowing those were their usual getaways.
“Nope, you’ll still sneak work there, like you always do.” He opened his mouth to protest, but she held up a hand to stop him, “I know you do, and you should know me better than to think I would believe any denial you’re about to give.”
“Then where will we be going?”
“The jet will be leaving first thing to take us to our island. We haven’t had a real vacation in far too long.”
“But I have meetings and deadlines over the next week that can’t be missed.” He protested.
“Taken care of.” She shrugged. “I spent my free time this week working with your staff to take care of things. You don’t have a single thing to worry about for a whole week.”
“You mean to tell me, you’ve spent the last week going behind my back, working with my staff, and doing all of this without me.” He said flatly as he stepped toward his wife.
“Yeah… yes. I mean, I thought it would be a nice surprise, I just…” Riley began stuttering, this was not the reaction she was expecting.
“You are the most thoughtful, considerate, amazing person I have ever met.” He placed his hands on her hips, pulling her close, before kissing the tip of her nose. “I can’t believe you went through all of that trouble for me.”
“After everything we’ve been through, planning a surprise vacation was actually pretty simple.” Riley chuckled.
“Marry me?” He said, brushing the backs of his fingers across her cheek.
“Always.” She answered, reaching up to press her lips to his.

I told myself to hold this in Until I finished the transformation sequence (which is fully sketched out it just needs to be cleaned up, its not fully animated but its real :D) but unfortunately I love Precure and Magical girls and @fourphoenixfeathers AU has transfixed me so your getting AU Thoughts: -Emmet and Ingo are a duo transformation ala Nagisa and Honaka. They cannot transform without each other and transforming involves them holding hands.
(Look Emmet and Ingo are literally black and white and it's also the Precure Anniversary. I need to reference the OGs)
-How Precure work in this universe is basically me mashing what I've heard about Happiness Charge (haven't watched it yet but have heard about its setting) into the pokemon world. So there's International Precure and they help the legendaries out but they aren't given powers by Them. In my head I reasoned that Precure just...seem out of Arceus jurisdiction so there is now Something Else giving people Precure powers. But legendaries can call on Precure if they need some help. That's what Kyurem did for Emmet and Ingo (and then later what Arceus did just without properly asking)
-While Emmet and Ingo are a bit outside the usual age range there not the only adult Precure. I haven't really thought of who else would be one except like...N. (he's 20) I'll think about it a bit more but the point is Anyone can be a Precure.
-Emmet and Ingo first became Cures around the start of BW2, they help out with Kyurem and the Dna splicer situation. Before that the plot of BW was mostly handled by Hilda, Bianca, Cheren and then the Midseason Cure N. There still here but Emmet and Ingo being there lightens the load a lot so it goes a bit smoother...Kyurem fusion still happens though! Both Dragons get fused! It Does Not Go Well! They fix it but that involves a secret special mode I haven't drawn yet (for people who know what Infinity Silhouette is, its that, but Emmet and Ingo get a weaker version of it in the middle of the season, it's there power up :D)
-Legends Arceus however is mainly dealt by Ingo and Emmet until midseason cure stuff happens. They go together because of the aforementioned Duo Situation. I imagine its possible to force them into a situation where they are forced to transform alone. However their Cure forms would probably destabilize and be a lot weaker than it would be if they were together.
-It's simply just not worth it unless you want to purposefully weaken them and and even then an unstable Cure is a bit of a risky situation. If Ingo was amensia-ed in this AU it would be Bad for Everyone.
-Cures overall have a pretty tight-knit community, usually there all really busy but if there in the area/its a really bad situation they'll help out.
-Pokemon can become Cures in the same way Fairies can become Cures. There's not a lot of them but there around. I'm mentioning this because i have plans for other regions (most notably Galar and...if Ash Ketchum ever gets brought in, Kanto.)
-A not insignificant amount of the Nimbasa City population has connected the dots between Emmet and Ingo and Cure Truth and Cure Ideal. It's an unsaid agreement to not say anything, they did however freak out when they found out that they existed in Hisui.
On another thing that's not in-universe AU content:
I love magical girls, so of course when I heard this AU my brain started to think about why Ingo and Emmet work really well as magical girls. Because they really do! I think it's mostly because both of them in there game dialogue are just really sincere and don't hold anything back. The sincerity and earnestness of there personality lends itself well to magical girls to me. I have more thoughts on that but I'm tired, but yeah my point is they work well together.

Would It Be a Sin?
Din Djarin x fem!reader
Tumblr media
Warnings: Angst; mentions of violence and bloodshed; near death experience; fluff.
Summary: Death has one hand wrapped firmly around your throat. The end is approaching, you can feel it. Before you go you have one final wish that you relay to your Mandalorian partner.
A/N: I honestly don’t know where this idea came from. I thought of one line of dialogue and BAM! Instant angst fest. *If you enjoy this fic you can check out more of my work on my Masterlist, or you can be added to my Tag List to follow future stories*
Everyone thinks about death. We begin dying almost the very instant we are born; everything in our lives revolves around the end of it. Death is an unavoidable fact of life and the mere inkling of it sits patiently at the back of one’s mind just waiting to rear it’s head in moments of peace, usually at night on the cusp of sleep. You’ve certainly contemplated your own end on more than one occasion.
You just never thought it’d come so soon.
The bounty had been trickier than you’d anticipated. Faster, smarter. You’d gone one way and the Mandalorian had gone another. You’d taken the correct path, you’d found the bounty. Or had he found you? You’d ended up with a blade in your gut before you could radio Mando for back up.
So now here you are, propped against the wall of some shadowy alley on some back water planet in the blistering heat with a hole in your stomach and your blood weeping between your fingers.
Your com crackles with a familiar voice; a thick, modulated baritone asking for your whereabouts. You don’t remember answering—don’t recall having the strength to—so when he appears at your side you think he’s merely a hallucination, your sanity oozing out with the blood.
“Dank Farrik, no. Y/N! Cyar’ika, look at me!”
You turn tired eyes toward his shimmering form, seeing double. You feel his hands tug at the one pressed to your open wound.
“Stay with me. It’s not that bad, cyare. We can get you fixed up.” His vocoded voice quavers.
You try to say his name—the most valuable thing he’s ever given you—but liquid copper pools on your tongue, seeps from the corner of your mouth.
“I wish….” you finally manage to garble. “Wish I could have seen your face….j-just once….before….”
“Cyar’ika….don’t.”
“Always wondered….what you look like. Dreamed about it….”
The rough glide of worn leather thumbs away the blood dripping from your chin. There’s a soft hiss before something crashes to the sand with a metallic clunk. You hadn’t even realized you’d closed your eyes until you hear Din begging you to open them.
“Y/N. Please.”
It takes all of your energy to pry your eyes open again, and once you’ve managed to blink them back into focus you’re staring at a stranger. It’s a face you don’t recognize, yet you know it all too well. You’ve seen it in your dreams.
Your hand finds its way to that stubbled cheek, smearing it with your blood as you offer the weakest of caresses.
“Oh, wow,” you manage to breathe, and those are the only words you can form. They’re enough. They’ll have to be.
Din catches your hand in his as it falls and pulls it to the back of his neck. You’re vaguely aware that you’ve become weightless, your body rising from the ground as you’re transfixed by the curls at the base of his skull.
“Hold on to me, cyare. I’m taking you back to the Crest.”
You’re moving. At least you think you are. Those heavy eyes of yours droop closed yet again and when they open you’ve gone from the blinding light and sweltering heat of the sun to the cold, dim confines of Din’s bunk.
The heaviness of his hurried feet shuffling about, stomping this way and that, keeps you from slipping entirely into unconsciousness.
“Try to keep still for me, cyar’ika,” he says gently, suddenly back at your side. “This is going to sting.”
Before he can hit your injury with the bacta spray you find just enough renewed strength tho halt his hand.
“No….Din. D-Don’t,” you plead.
“Y/N, I have to. Now hold still.”
“No,” you insist. “You…broke your creed for me. I’ve seen your f-face. You should…let me die.”
He’s silent for a moment—stunned perhaps—before he defies you, bathing your open wound in bacta. A chill creeps in through the marred flesh and fills your body right down to the very tips of your fingers and toes, and you gasp at the ice in your veins.
“It’s because you’ve seen my face that I can’t let you die.”
He holds you as you spasm, your body drinking in the cure for what ails you. And as you finally lose your battle with sleep his face—all brown eyes and salt and pepper stubble—is the last thing you see.
***
It’s the first thing you see when you wake, too, those forlorn eyes watching you rouse slowly. You wonder how long you’ve been asleep. You wonder if he’d left your side even once.
“Am I alive,” you murmur, “or is this the afterlife? If I get to wake up every day to a face like that greeting me then I don’t think I mind being dead.”
You think he couldn’t be any more handsome until you watch him blush. Your heart that had slowed to a dangerous crawl only moments ago is now running at a gallop.
“I’m afraid you’re very much alive, Y/N.”
You reach for his face once again, this time with both hands, cradling it gently between your palms. The new greatest gift he’s ever given you.
“Are you sure this is okay?” you inquire.
You feel the chuckle vibrate through his jaw.
“Yes, cyar’ika. It’s okay.”
“You keep calling me that,” you hum. “‘Cyar’ika’. What does that mean, Din?”
What he does next is a surprise. He’s done it before, but the meaning of this gesture is a mystery to you as well. He lowers that beautiful face to yours until your foreheads kiss.
“If you have to ask then, clearly, you haven’t been paying attention.”

Hi! Your last post is a very interesting stuff!
Actually, I have never been a sadistic type of a partner, but it may be just because I've never tried 😈
Let's say that in the situation you described I would start from pressing my hand hard against your hurting tummy and shaking it a little just to find out how the things are and maybe hear you moaning again.
Thanks for playing along ^^ For people that want to join in, I totally welcome different responses and different takes to the original RP-Starter…and everyone is free to respond to this one and write me a continuation RP-Ask or RP-Lite. Dialogue prompts would be kind of fun.
As for you, @suffering-tummy, I'd want to hear your POV on this. What did you "find out" from your actions after reading this?
Dread grips my heart like a vice when I see the change in your expression. There is no way you didn't hear that. [Your] eyes widen and zero in on my midriff, hidden under a baggy hoodie. My stomach cramps sharply and I wince. There's no way you missed that either.
You step forward, approaching my form curled on the far end of the couch. Bed forgotten, your gaze is transfixed--locked onto the mess I've been desperately trying to hide all day.
Cat's out of the bag. I finally give in and allow myself to cradle my tummy with both arms, being gentle. I don't have much energy left in me to apply pressure, even if I wanted to. I want to if it'll make this mess clear up faster…but at the same time I also don't want to apply any pressure because outward pressure is likely to upset the delicate balance within me. As gross as it is, my digestive tract has been suspended in a sickly stalemate all day. That stalemate will likely be forcefully broken if something were to press into my belly--with messy results. I want this agony to end…but I've let things stew for far too long. When this sickly mass finally exits my body, it's not going to do so quietly, painlessly, or cleanly. It's become more and more acidic as the day has gone on…and I'd like to think it's developed more built-up velocity. All it needs is the right kind of push and "projectile vomiting" or "explosive expulsion" or whatever will be euphemisms for how forcefully this sick will leave my body. My stomach doesn't even have it in it to clench tightly enough anymore--exhausted from having contained this sickness for far too long.
Your hand reaches out before I can beg you to be gentle and it makes contact with my barely-there bloat of a gut. I expected a gentle laying of your palm--the sort of touch born out of curiosity. I was wrong. Your forward momentum doesn't stop as your palm makes contact with my gut. You step forward even after you meet the resistance of my belly.
"NnngghAaAhH!" I I squeeze my eyes shut and a moan is torn from my throat, unbidden.
I feel a sickly squelching in my guts. The sphincter between my duodenum and stomach-organ has finally given out, resulting in me feeling very much like I have a model of an underwater volcano about to erupt. I can feel the dense mass of spaghetti loosening up as a jet of acidic chyme shoots through it. The mushy noodles tickle as they churn and flail around my sickly tummy. Your touch was what did it. The boney bit of the bottom of your palm, beneath your pinky finger, dug into the spot right over my duodenum. The result was similar to pressing down on a full tube of toothpaste. My duodenum was bloated up with the angry acid from my intestines. Your boney wrist gave it the final push to breech the barricade that was the sphincter keeping my breakfast separated from the spaghetti.
Once the resistance of my bloated gut and the force of you pushing into it reach equilibrium, I hope it'll stop. I hope you'll retract your hand after no doubt feeling the sickly churning. You love to subvert my expectations, appaarently.
I can see the faint traces of a tell-tale smirk on your lips. You don't bounce back after feeling the resistance of my gut. You lean into it, pushing harder. I feel something pressing against the base of my esophagus and will that sphincter to hold strong.
I'm trapped. I have the armrest of the couch to my right which is already fairly close to a wall. I'm basically curled into the corner of the couch, leaning against both the armrest and the back of it. Escape blocked on 2 sides just from the furniture placement. You're straddling my left leg, invading my space and sealing off yet another means of escape. I'm pinned. Even if I weren't, the sickly churning of my guts would have immobilized me anyhow. After the eruption into my stomach-organ, nausea has been dialed up to 11. I'd be waiting it out rather than risk splattering vomit onto the couch.
You begin to pump your hand into my belly, shaking it around, pistoning your palm into my somewhat squishy, and very sickly belly.
A segmented mewl reverberates through my throat, interrupted by my convulsive swallowing to try and keep the sick from entering my esophagus.
I whimper as I feel some of the air from a sharp intake of breath go down the wrong pipe and form a bubble in the sick rapidly flooding my stomach. Your rough jostling juggles the bubble, bouncing the marble-sized cramp all over my gut until it finally latches onto the base of my esophagus. With a sharp shake nudging at the base of the bubble, I feel it disappear up my esophagus, bringing a couple of stinging droplets of acid with it.
"Urlp! Urk! Unnn…ugh…urlp…" I burp pitifully, barely managing enough to even produce a puff of air. I feel so, so sick.
"Mmh…pphh…B-Ba-abe…ugh…s-st-stoURP!" A painful slosh of acid jumps into my esophagus and just as quickly splashes right back down, leaving a sour burning sensation that I can feel in my throat. I moan against the sensation, keeping my teeth clenched. I don't have to see your expression to know you are enjoying this. I can feel it from where you're straddled over my left thigh. Your enjoyment meter and the status of my tummy are negatively correlated. As one rises, the other inevitably falls.

Deadfire Notes 3 (aka me going nuts in the caed twoa discord server 💀)
Dunnage: Tempest is helping the Peglegs get back on track (heh). Back when she was still an aedyran noble, she was used to sponsoring grand plays as a form of entertainment for the guests of House Withers, so this was kind of like..a throwback? Lol! As a treat, their leader reserved seats for the gang in front. Tempest and Aloth sat next to each other ;3;
“It’s a nice play. I’ve seen fancier ones but still, a good one,” Aloth says. His “compliment” was one shy away from being an insult but the way he is transfixed on actors on the stage was telling a different story.
Tempest laughs. She rests her hand next to his. It was ironic of them to sit around and watch a play about a god they were supposed to be chasing after. But still…moments like this with her lover are so rare…
It feels like they’re just a regular couple who do not need to save the world.
Wael stealing all of Tempest’s scrolls? Wael PLS CAN’T WE JUST FORGET WHAT HAPPENED IN THE FIRST GAME 💀 (not me lowkey terrified because I thought they were going to rob me blind hahaha blind) not tempest immediately rushing out of her sleeping quarters to ensure that was juST A DREAM AND THEY STILL HAVE THEIR SCROLLS spoiler alert it’s all gone 💀
Tempest just fucking around with Edér. She jokes about him having romantic feelings for her. *cue the truth bombs massacre* safe to say both were glad their feelings were platonic!! Tempest sees him as a big brother figure, and Edér sees her as a little sister…a rascal lmao. Oh man their dialogue made me cry a bit fr..with Edér not good on big promises but swearing to her that he’ll beat up anything and anyone to give Tempest her old life back…..
UHM? REKKE? SIR? SIR..?!? The crew just docked at Tikawara. While preparing for Poko Kohara, Rekke talks to Tempest. The latter, being used to not understanding him, did not register this fact immediately but when she realizes…she was shookt lmao
Boarding off The Defiant, Rekke was ecstatic to finally properly talk with his beloved captain. Seeing her eyes widen and her cheeks slightly redden at his comments was something else. To be properly understood…he missed that. He thought about all the compliments he said to her in his native language. He always just received a look of confusion immediately replaced with a polite nod and smile from her.
But now…he can make her flustered all he wants. And what a sight it is to see.
He tugs her sleeve, causing her to look in his direction. He playfully smirks and asks, “We’ve been talking about the others, but what do you think of me?”
Not missing a beat, Tempest responds, “You’re fun.”
He steps closer to her. He winks, his voice lowering, “Take me home and I’ll show you fun…”
He takes her hand and pretends to lead the way towards her private quarters. She laughs, covering her face with her other hand. It was in vain though, for Rekke can see the blush spreading in her face.
He grins. Maybe listening to Serafen’s atrocious Aedyran was worth it if it meant he could learn the language.

3, 4, and/or 9 for that fanfic ask thing
3. What’s a fic idea that you have but haven’t written yet?
Princess Tutu “The Promised Neverland” AU. Duck is Emma, Mytho is Norman, Fakir is Ray. Rue is a young Sister-in-training sent to shadow at their house. That’s all I have, and I’m probably never going to write it, but it’s interesting.
4. Do you prefer writing multi-chapter or oneshot fanfictions?
I only recently started writing multi-chapter fics, but I think I like those better? They can be longer, you have more opportunity to play around with POV and stuff, and you don’t have to finish the whole thing before publishing, so you can support and feedback while you’re writing, which is hugely motivating.
9. What’s your favorite line(s) or scene(s) that you have written?
This bit from chapter 1 of Rapture.
Giggling, Joshua slipped past Neku–careful not to touch him–and over to his desk, plopping down in his chair with a heavy, satisfied sigh and giving it a cursory spin before tapping the file on his desk with his clean hand.
“This, my dear,” he announced, “is where the magic happens.”
“That? It’s barely bigger than the briefing I was given earlier.”
Joshua tapped his temple. “The magic also happens here.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“I’m a genius, love. Why would I write it all down when I can store it elsewhere just fine? There’s no reason to make more work for myself.”
Neku growled, deep and guttural, a thrill rushing down Joshua’s spine. He sounded dangerous, animalistic. So very different from Joshua.
“You knew you were getting a partner,” he gritted out. “It didn’t occur to you to write it down so I could catch up? Have a reference? Anything?”
“Not really, no.”
Neku slammed a hand down on the desk and Joshua winced, his chair rolling back a few inches. Neku paused for a moment, as though noticing his reaction, his eyes widening minutely. Thankfully, he didn’t try to get any closer, but he didn’t move away, either.
“Write it down. I want comprehensive documentation of the case by the end of the week.”
“Mmm, whatever you say, daddy.”
Neku’s hand curled into a fist, tight enough to shake. Joshua watched it, transfixed, for a breath before lifting his eyes to meet Neku’s, just to witness the unbridled rage simmering there, those matchstick brows tugged closer than ever, kindling creases marring his forehead. Omnivore’s teeth peeked out between lips the color of a raw burn and bit down, hard.
“Don’t fucking call me that.”
It's just. There’s so much here that I’m proud of. The way every line of dialogue and narration contributes to both Joshua and Neku’s characterization, as well as the larger narrative. The prose. The fire metaphor. I had a lot of fun writing it, and I think it’s really really good. :)

How To Perfect a "Picture This"
Hello again at QoolQuill. In this section of our literary journey, we’re diving into the transfixing concept of writing a “Picture This.” Once you learn how to write a “Picture This,” it won’t be long before you accomplish a myriad of literary goals.
So what exactly is this mesmerising “Picture This?” Let’s snap to it everyone!
“Picture This” is a beneficial writing technique that aims to create vivid and immersive experiences for both the author and the reader. This method is the key for writing other literary styles, particulaly narratives. It is a few paragraphs of text based on a photograph. The aim of a Picture This is to not only brush up your inking skills, but to also find your passion and the message that you want to convey to your readers.
To successfully create a “Picture This,” your heart is the main protocal. However, here are a few tips:
Sensory Detail Integration: Engage the reader’s senses by incorporating vivid descriptions. Utilise sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell to create a multi-dimensional experience. For instance, instead of stating “the coffee shop was crowded,” you might describe the “aroma of freshly ground coffee beans mixing with the chatter of patrons.”
Show, Don’t Tell: Rather than outright stating emotions or situations, show them through actions, dialogues, and detailed descriptions. For instance, instead of saying “she was nervous,” you could describe how “her fingers trembled as she struggled to maintain eye contact.”
Use Vivid Imagery: Paint a mental picture by using strong, evocative language. Metaphors, similes, and descriptive adjectives can help create vivid images. For instance, instead of saying “the sunset was beautiful,” you could describe it as “the sky ablaze with hues of pink and gold, resembling a canvas painted by a master artist.
Create Emotional Resonance: Connect the reader emotionally by describing situations and scenes that resonate with their own experiences. This emotional connection can deepen their engagement with the story.
Balance Detail and Brevity: While it’s crucial to be descriptive, be mindful of the balance between detail, dialogue and pacing. An overabundance of description can slow the narrative, so find a balance that keeps the story flowing while still painting a rich picture for the reader.
I hope these tips aid you along the journey.
Here is a Picture This example that focuses on feelings:
Picture this.
I’ve always thought seagulls were beautiful. I’ve always marvelled at the vibrant hues that wove between their feathers, the inconceivable way they soared effortlessly through the clouds and the proud, vain way they conducted themselves.
So I was obviously appalled when, for the first time, I gazed into the regal eyes of a seagull and felt afraid.
Soft sand pooled around my toes as the feeling contaminated my body. It started with a pang of shock as the seagull abruptly lurched towards me which progressively flipped to a stab of dread.
Suddenly the brilliant radiance of the sun turned serrated, the endless calm of the ocean no longer applied to me and the elusive feeling of contentment I had experienced a few seconds ago seemed like decades ago. The numerous people on the beach around me, the rest of my family, the vast blanket of blue before me, the almost inaudible chatter that came from every angle — everything vanished. My attention narrowed until the only thing that was in my head was the seagull and its advancing talons, perfectly capable of nicking my homemade pancake in one clean swipe.
My tongue tasted dry in my mouth, like all my senses were clearing the way for fear. The type of anxiety that sprang into domination, seizing my brain and disabling it in the process. This sensation was so peculiar because the seagull wasn’t really doing anything intimidating. It just stood there, motionless. A vague part of my mind that retained control was marvelling that perhaps admiration wasn’t the only thing that dawned on me when I was in the presence of a bird. The rest was petrified.
The seagull was still fixated on the piece of pancake imprisoned in my hand. When I managed to wrestle my gaze away from it’s uncanny eyes, I realised that something was wrong. Very wrong. Instead of one dainty little bird that had an intense (but understandable) yearning for my pancake, I saw a wave of ravenous threats, slowly edging towards me.
I hate beaches.
Here is a Picture This that focuses on sight:
Picture this.
Amid the vivid hues of the ethereal autumn leaves, a conspicuous maple stands proudly, its crimson branches reaching endlessly for the lazuline sky. The sunlight weaves through the foliage, casting a kaleidoscope of dappled shadows on the mossy ground. A pair of cardinals, their scarlet plumage a sharp contrast against the golden backdrop, flit from branch to branch, creating fleeting flashes of vivid motion. Nature’s canvas, painted in the palette of fall, invites the observer to immerse themselves in the picturesque spectacle of color and light.
So why wait? It’s time to write your “Picture This” and let your pen guide you to your passion and creative side. Don’t forget to enjoy literature and the different perspectives words bring us.
