He picks him up and kisses his forehead, comforting him and helping him choose a plaster. Gator is in awe of his son and, obviously, of you.

You plan to have another and you decide after Cooper’s first birthday. You spent the day enjoying a barbecue with some new friends. Cooper fell asleep in Gator’s lap as the party cleared out. In bed later that night, you notice the slight red blush on Gator’s face from sitting in the sun all day. He looks tired but also so content. His kisses are deep and slow. He thanks you, he thanks you most evenings recently and you’re not sure what for. Maybe for planning the party, maybe for loving him or maybe for being a great mom. You realise it’s probably all three and more.
