@fraddit tagged me to list my 7 top comfort movies and I am always happy to oblige:
1. The Wedding Singer. 10/10 soundtrack and watching Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore fall in love with Billy Idol's blessing is everything to me. My partner and I watch it like 4 times a year, I'm not joking.
2. The Birdcage. Honestly I'm a big supporter of "watch whatever you want" but this is required viewing. I watch it the second I feel the first warm breeze of late spring/early summer.
3. When Harry Met Sally. Also required viewing. I'm sorry, I don't make the rules.
4. The Producers (2005). Is it ridiculous? Yes. Problematic? By design. Too long? Maybe a smidge but it is basically a PERFECT script-to-screen of the stage musical. Leo Bloom my neurotic beloved. It's also my connection to younger-me who loved it so so much .
5. She Loves Me. Not technically a movie but it is a ProShot. The music, the found family, the pining. I love it all.
6. Mamma Mia. One more musical. I watch this every summer, and after living near the water it just feels like home. I've been eyeing an artist's residency on the island where they filmed it and it's VERY tempting.
7. Dan in Real Life. Tiny bit of a wild card but this film is so cozy. I LOVE the soundtrack, and it's so genuinely warm and funny. It feels like a real family, all coexisting and poking into each other's lives. It's so good I can even forgive Dane Cook being in it.
Tagging: @blurred-antics @tortugay @badgerswake @stonesandswords @rosewaterraindrops @overnightmask @mulderscully and of course anyone who is just looking for a reason to gush about their faves.
