I suppose on the note of little war dollies, I've watched the GI Joe '87 movie. It's ok, but it's not TF Movie good - basically just a long miniseries of the cartoon. I will say the Hot Rod equivalent is far less sympathetic than the turbo-revving young punk. If I could describe Falcon, he's what the older people in TF Fandom THINK Hot Rod's character is like? He's written to be an asshole for the first half-hour, basically. Like, he's introduced bringing a date onto a secure installation and doing a negligent discharge of a firearm. Both are a major faux pas - and beyond any mistake Hot Rod made in the course of the 'TF movie. Besides that, it's alright. It doesn't have the same afterlife the TF movie had, and maybe that's OK. The concepts and characters it introduced - Cobra-La, Falcon, Slaughter's Renegades, et cetera - have had an enduring legacy nevertheless. Jinx, especially, has seen much love from Larry Hama in his comics.

Kae does make it a point to avoid going to the Winery when he knows Diluc will be there. His exceptions being Mandatory Knight Business, or bc the Traveler happened to bring him along with.

“One Season with the Duke”, by Addy Du Lac

I read this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review

⭐️⭐️⭐️

For the most part I enjoyed this book very much. I found the first half a bit long but the second half was so good. I loved both the love story and the settings in particular. The hero, Finn, is a Scottish duke and Highlands laird who’s friends with the Montford family since forever and among their many children lives our heroine, Henrietta, who is actually lord Monford’s niece, left to their care by her parents when she was just a toddler. She is loved as much as their children, but given that she is mixed race (African and English) she always saw herself different so she believed that the rest of the ton saw her as such. But then her parents died and left her a sizable dowry that one cousin on her mother’s side, also mixed race, aspires to get by marring her. So he threatens the girl by telling her that he has proof that she was born before her parents got married and therefore she is a bastard.

Fortunately, Finn is in London to ask for Hettie’s hand in marriage. But just when it is too late for him to ask, Lord Monford asks Hettie to run away from his blackmailer, so in the end she seeks refuge in Finn’s arms and they elope to get married in Scotland. Still the problems don’t stop there, Finn has a duty to his people and his mother doesn’t think Hettie is the best partner for her son and his future.

This is a friends to lovers with elopement and a marriage of convenience that would be 5 stars if it wasn’t for the fact that Hettie hides the real motives to marry Finn until the last moment and also for the mostly modern uses of language and expressions here and there. It felt a bit off and anachronic or out of place and sometimes that made me stop reading and wonder. I remember one in particular that goes like “He stomped like a buffalo”… why a buffalo? Had the character ever seen a buffalo? Why not a bull, that is spectacularly more common in England (or in the whole of Europe at all) than a buffalo…

Despite that and the length of the aforementioned first half. I enjoyed the slow burn love story, especially because Finn cannot hide his feelings to save his life and not only he es the first to fall but also he’s not afraid of being vulnerable or cry in front of his wife. Seeing him so human and vulnerable won me over.

Sometimes I think Annabeth Chase would like this architecture documentary I saw. Or that Kaul Ru would have loved to sign petitions and help bring awareness to global warming. Maybe Addie LaRue would be first in the Ticketmaster queue for Phoebe Bridgers tickets. And I know for a fact that the Patroclus from Song of Achilles would’ve gone feral for jimin, just saying.

in honor of pride month, are there any lgbt+ headcanons or ships for bh6 that you like?

Hmmmm. That is a good question.

I know that I have Peni/Addy in my stories (Hiro's cousin and her friend), but in terms of the actual team? Not really. Honey Lemon/Go Go probably intrigues me the most and why would they not? They're best friends, they share a apartment, they have "Emotional Moment Selfies". Or...at least one of them does.

I've never personally seen them as more than BFFS, but I completely understand that other people see them as more than that. And I think it's great.

Another person that I know gets brought up is Wasabi, probably because he's really the only guy who doesn't actively have anyone right now (Fred has Olivia and Hiro has Karmi). I also know that people were shipping him with Chris for a bit, which was...odd because he was a villain.

Not that that ever stopped anybody before.

Of course, my headcanons about relationships are just that. Headcanons. People are more than welcome to have their own ideas about the team, and I think that it's great that the fandom can have such a broad idea for people on the show. I don't personally have any of them in my stories (again, sans Peni/Addy), but that doesn't mean that anybody else shouldn't.

People should be able to be/love who they want to be/love without any sort of prejudice, either in the fictional world of San Fransokyo or in the real world.

A sort of continuation to this

Tim couldn't be bothered to figure what came from who, not when he's just trying to block out the unnecessarily bright lights of the watchtower. So he did the thing that any other self respecting tired student™️ would do, which is tossing the spare oreo he had in his suit pocket onto the hastily drawn summoning circle that one John Constantine brought with him on a piece of paper.

Now the last thing the League was expecting to happen was the lights dimming and green smoke coming from the printer paper that John took from who knows where.

Danny doesn't usually do this much paperwork in one sitting but someone just left a full mug of coffee on his shrine in hopes of being able to finish their assignment on time so he might as well finish the small pile he has on his desk. Ever since he accidentally gained a following he could taste the offerings and even feel the strong emotions from each one of them. It's not a really a big deal, pushing waves of calm/relax/focus doesn't take much energy and the offerings are nice too. So when he felt the pull of a summoning followed by drowsiness, exhaustion and the familiar taste of a stale oreo, who was he to reject the call of one of his favourite humans?

First of all, kind of rude to be summoning your patron by using such a small summoning circle but he'll cut the poor student some slack. Secondly, bright lights were definitely no good for this sleep deprived human, he'd probably be more comfortable if Danny turns it down a bit. The room full of heroes and magic users were unexpected but, hoLY- IS HE IN SPACE????? Did he say one of his favourites? He meant his number 1 favourite.

Sorry this was a bit short but feel free to write down/comment your own additions to this au. I also don't mind if anyone wants to write their own fic based on this but do tag me if you do!
