It's honestly hard to read the battle of the labyrinth when somehow Rick Riordan made a villian I find completely irredeemable. Luke deserves far worse than he got. Luke isn't even entertainingly evil, like Loki or Set or any number of others later. I honestly think Rick Riordan improved after Percy Jackson, and that the Heroes of Olympus was his peak. Mind you, I can't get past him killing off Jason Grace in the Trials of Apollo. But the Heroes of Olympus will probably always be my favorite of his books (I think because I read it first, but I don't actually remember when I first read it anymore).

Do any of you ever wonder if Camp Half-Blood accidentally brought in a demigod of a different pantheon before?
This would be especially hilarious if it happens sometime after The Last Olympian/Heroes of Olympus, where the gods are required to claim their kids quickly.
A whole day passes, and the new demigod needs to sleep in the Hermes Cabin and Percy is furious. Meanwhile, the Greek Gods are pointing at each other and shouting, contacting the most obscure of mini gods. Chaos erupts on Olympus as every deity in Greek Mythology is called upon and interrogated. Hermes hasn't run around so much in centuries.
Hecate sits in silence, fully aware of what's happening, but enjoying the show too much to intervene.

I know we're all talking about the D'Angelo's/Di'Angelo tease that was in episode 1 but what about the "You could make an appointment to see Mr Kane," line from Grover.
Rick you asshole throwing in names important to your other books in places they're not meant to be. now all we need is a throw away line about Annabeth's cousin in Boston and the trifecta is complete
(edit: okay. I got it. D'Angelos is a real sandwich place. now go comment that on the five million other posts freaking out about the mention of di'angelo. I've got it. you don't have to comment on mine when someone else already did. read the comments before you comment. Reading Comprehension, Guys.)

when drawing Alex's wedding dress, a lot of people tend to forget that she was disguised as Samirah, so the dress has to be hijabi-friendly. that means sleeves, a full-length skirt, no plunging necklines, no off-the-shoulder moment, et cetera. with this in mind, please rb this with drawings of Alex in her dress. i think it'd be fun <3

'let them say fuck' this 'let them swear' that
let them cry
let them sob in the shower
let them soak their friend's sleeve with tears
let them wake up with red eyes
let them laugh cry with their friends over a forgotten inside joke
let them cry while kissing their partner, finally finished with whatever hell they were going through

sometimes i think a little too hard about how percy jackson started as bedtime stories that rick riordan would tell his son when he was being bullied for his adhd and dyslexia because he wanted to let his kid know that he could also be a hero. and how after his first books were so successful he started to realize that there are lots of kids out there who don't see themselves in any heroes because of various other aspects of themselves, and he doesn't want any kid to feel like how his did, so he started writing heroes that were poc and gay and religious minorities and homeless and genderqueer and physically disabled and from an array of different cultures and he just made it his absolute mission to make sure every single kid could see themselves in his universe. about how the primary purpose of these books is to make kids feel a little bit less alone, and how the percy jackson books are so well loved because they are, themselves, an act of love. percy jackson came into existence as an act of love towards his struggling son and this story grew and expanded into what it is today because so many kids needed that same kind of love, and even those of us that aren't kids anymore still find a home in a story that was made for that exact purpose. and then i cry.
