I pulled up to the motel and helped Dean to the door of Sammy's room. He knocked before Sammy opened it and let us in. "What the hell are you doing here?" Sammy asked, happy to see Dean again. He even smiled at me as I helped Dean take a seat.

"I checked myself out, I checked her out too," Dean replied trying to seem tough.

"You've been doing that since we met," I chuckled making Dean smile.

"Are you crazy?" Sammy asked Dean showing his concern.

"I'm not going to die in a hospital when I can just bring my hot nurse with me," He gestured to me making me scoff.

"You know this whole 'I laugh in the face of death thing, It's crap, I can see right through it," Sammy added making me smirk.

"Yeah whatever dude," Dean shrugged him off.

"Alright, so I guess I should be going." I piped up.

"Wow, wow wow." Dean stopped me. "Your shift isn't over, you're still my nurse," Dean smirked at me.

"I'm not your nurse," I rolled my eyes with a laugh.

"Would you like to be?" He added suggestively making me laugh. "Aw come on, you were the one to convince me to leave and now you're going back?" He questioned. I shook my head. Dean had an idea. "You're going to walk away from a dying man? denying him of the help he needs," He asked giving me a guilt trip.

"You suck, Dean." I gave in making him smile. I walked over and took a seat beside him. "Is that okay?" I asked Sammy.

"I guess so, I'm Sam," He added. I smiled and shook his hand.

"I'm Y/N," I replied softly.

"Yeah, so I've been scouring the internet and calling all the contacts in Dad's journal," He informed Dean.

"For what?" Dean asked adjusting his sitting position.

"For what'd help you," Dean scoffed but Sam was serious. "One of Dad's friends, Joshua, called me back, heard about a guy in Nebraska, a specialist." Sam was adamant that Dean could be saved and it was something I needed.

"You're not going to let me die in peace, are you?" Dean added making me giggle.

"I'm not gonna let you die, period," I smirked at this. "We're going,"

"Alright whatever, but first we sleep." Dean shrugged. "Y/N's sharing a bed with me in case I get cold," Dean cheekily added.

"I will not, Y/N is sleeping on the floor," I replied in the first and third person making Sam chuckle.

"You're going to deprive your patient of warmth and comfort?" He added acting shocked. I pretended to think about it.

"Yep," I quickly added making Sam laugh. Sam got up and went to the bathroom.

"I promise I won't do anything, just please stay in the bed with me. I don't want you being in pain on the floor and it would help to have you beside me if I need you to help me with the bathroom or something?" Dean explained in a concerned yet helpless tone. It was easy to see that he didn't want Sam to see how dependent he now was on me.

"Okay," I replied softly making him smile.

"You won't regret it," He added.

"I think I will," I commented with a chuckle making him slightly laugh. Sam came out of the bathroom and saw us both smiling.

"I thought you would have resisted him longer than that," Sam joked making me laugh.

"Me too but it's those eyes," I added with a laugh. Of course, I had noticed the angelic eyes of the angelic man. His green eyes are so precious and perfect yet the rest of him is roughed and handsome. It must be true what they say about the eyes being a window to the soul.

"Oh, so it's my eyes that you like?" Dean questioned with a smirk.

"Shut it, you've made two comments about my butt today and it's only 2 so you can't say anything," I retorted making Sam laugh.

"I like her," Sam chuckled referring to me. I looked at him confused but I still had a smile on my face. "I like anyone who can shut my brother up," He added. I was a little shocked to find out they were brothers but now that he mentions it I can see some similarities.

"You can wear one of my shirts to bed, my bag's just on you're left," Dean commented on changing the subject. I looked over to see a duffle bag on the floor I picked it up and put it between Dean and me. I pulled the handles away from each other and as the bag wasn't zipped up I saw a gun inside. I saw the guys share a glance.

"Nice, a double-barreled shotgun," I commented pulling it out of the bag. "It has a nice grip to it but it feels a little lopsided. Have you changed the choke?" I asked quickly from the concealed love I have for guns.

"You know guns?" Sam asked impressed.

"Damn, she's hot," Dean unknowingly slipped out but I chose to ignore it.

"Yeah, I got into them after my dad showed me his handgun collection," I shrugged and both of the guys looked impressed.

"If I live through this, I'm keeping you," Dean added making me laugh.

"Maybe I'll have to make sure that doesn't happen then," I said and handed him the gun making him smirk. I will admit I'm teasing him and playing hard to get but with a face, body, eyes, attitude and smirk like his you know he can get whatever he wants anyway. Dean put the gun aside and went into his bag. He pulled out a plain grey shirt and handed it to me before pulling out clothes for himself. I got up and offered him my hand. He took it and I helped him to the bathroom. I led him inside but before I left he smirked at me.

"You're not going to help me change?" He asked still smirking.

"I can't but I can ask the nurse Sammy if you'd like?" I teased so he glared at me. I walked out but stayed standing by the door in case I heard Dean struggling. I heard Dean groaning in pain quite a few times and I couldn't bear it. I lightly knocked on the door.

"Are you okay?" I asked but heard no reply. I slowly opened the door and stepped inside. Dean was sitting on the lid of the toilet with his head in his hands in just his boxers. I looked at him sadly. I got in front of him and knelt. I put my hands on his knees to assure him.

"I'll be okay," He softly spoke and you could hear so much pain in his voice. More than usual.

"Come on, I'll help you get dressed." I shrugged but he sighed.

"You shouldn't have to," He started.

"Hey, I'm your nurse now remember, I have to look after you," I added. Dean now looked at me and his eyes peered into my soul. He looked so glad but so grateful at the same time. I grabbed his PJ bottoms from the side and scrunched them to the floor so Dean just had to carefully place his feet inside. Once we did that, I stood and offered Dean my hand. I helped him up and smiled at him and I blushed at the height difference.

Gold and Red Text in Penacony

So, for some reason, I have decided to torture myself by creating a theory that will likely have some plot relevance??? but not totally sure. it has popped up a bunch of times and seems to confuse a lot of people, so I'm just putting together what I know! feel free to tell me if I missed something, as I haven't done many of the side quests yet...

Anyway, spoiler warning for 2.0 trailblaze mission and possibly some of the side quests?? idk proceed with caution! I don't read many leaks so I doubt there's spoilers for that but tell me right away if there are any!

Alright, so the first time we see different-colored text in this mission is during Acheron's first meeting with the Trailblazer. According to this twitter thread (credits to user mobnermal, NOT me) Acheron's dialogue will change, depending on the gender of the tb and how we respond to her queries. She also says towards the end of the convo something along the lines of "It feels like multiple different versions of you were talking to me, saying a different thing each time".

So, I'm not entirely sure why she's lying, or even if she's doing it intetionally. It does seem like there's some aspect of "different possibilities within the Dreamscape" happening- almost like the Dreamscape itself is changing the tb's answers/Acheron's questions. But again, we'll get a bit into the dreamscape later.

2. Aventurine's final convo with the tb, and then Black Swan later.

My screenshots were failing me so hard in this quest lol.

Anyway, as far as I know, these two are the only ones in this mission who use gold text. It's mostly used to highlight the word "truth", and according to the wiki and playthroughs I have watched this dialogue doesn't change- only Acheron's red seems inconsistent. I find it interesting Black Swan put quotations around it, and I have no idea what this could imply. I assume she knows something we and Aventurine don't about Robin's death, which seems to be what they were referring to during this part.

As to how that "upends everything"... I don't know what the implications of her death are. It's implied by the npc who raised Robin (can't find any screenshots- I didn't take any, but it's dialogue from an npc in the Golden Hour) and Sunday and Robin's dialogue in the very beginning- the one where they were "shades"- that Robin's voice may have some special quality that could mind-control/ brainwash people to some extent. This is a bit of a tangent, but may point out why the gold test is so important- the new Harmony trace mats match Robin's design very well, and are part of the Order. The Order's- Ena's- symbol is an eyeball, which can be found in a lot of places on Penacony, but most importantly Sunday's clothes. Judging from what we know of Sunday's control-freak-esque personality (sorry dude ):) it's possible he or someone else in The Family is using Robin's potential powers to brainwash the people of different factions. If you choose the alternate ending, everything wraps up a bit too nicely, and nobody seems to want to leave Penacony after that. Tb never finds out about Robin's death in that ending, either. There's a lot of implications there that I don't want to get into for this post, but basically- The Family is orchestrating something, probs pinned the blame on the IPC in the bad ending (since otherwise why would hoyo tell us that?) and then brainwashed everyone to never leave. Why? No idea! But it does explain why Robin's "truth" (in quotations, because Black Swan's dialogue does imply Robin's not dead) is so important to the plot.

That was a bit of a tangent, lol. Going back to the first sc, I find it interesting Aventurine is the one to tell us this, and if we're going with the idea that gold=truth, that just tells us Acheron's most certainly an Emanator, no matter what the Dreamscape does. Why they choose to have Aventurine reveal this, especially with the first instance of golden text- that's still up in the air. However, something I want to throw in is that there was a theory floating around Twitter comparing his eyes to the eye behind Ena in their official art. They are identical- even the gold outline on Ena's eye matches his eyeliner. Since it's implied in his conversation with Sparkle his eyes are a defining feature of his race, Sigonian, and that their civilization has been taken over (I'm not clear on details) or fallen apart somehow- akin to how civilizations under Ena's rule fell apart after their death- there may be some relation. Also, Aventurine was sent to Penacony specifically, which Topaz questioned- this may be why Diamond sent him. It implies a lot of plot relevance for him later, certainly!

3. The really, really ominous text you can get from a side quest.

If you go to the Reverie(Dreamscape) VIP lounge teleport beacon and head to the wall, you find a broken Clockie surrounded by purple bubbles. If you haven't done this quest yet- do it now, I really can't explain all this! search up a guide- there's a couple good ones on youtube. you do get a sticker!

anyway, some screenshots of the tape's text (cw for slight gore, explosions, screams, overall very ominous and vague tour-guidey stuff):

anyway, yeah! possibly the most unnerving thing in the game so far (aside from those lost text stickers...). but, as you can tell, I'm gonna focus on the gold and red text. fair warning, I don't really know what to make of this, but I think there's some connection...

first, gold. this is, if we go off what I previously thought, the "truth". My current theory is that this gold is true of within or outside dreamscape- in other words, the dreamscape cannot alter that thing in the gold text. It's there, regardless of how the dreamscape screws other things up. The "truth" in the dreamscape isn't necessarily reliable, since dreamscape seems to fuck with everything, but gold is apparently truth, so we're sticking to that. That means that bloodshed, mind-opening (?), and pressure-releasing (???) is... true? It's kind of interesting- the other things in gold we've seen are statements with meaning, and this... kinda isn't. However, it could imply this is actually what's happening in the Dreamscape. Some kind of deranged, creepy thing that the dreamscape/ the Family is doing while everyone else is on this cool-looking vacation. I have no idea why that line, of all the lines, is gold, but it's certainly not something someone trying to make Penacony look good would say! That's all I know.

Not much I know about why the red one, specifically, is red either. Are the instruments/music fake? That's certainly a recurring motif in Penacony, between bands in the Golden Hour and Robin being a songstress, plus Ena's "Beyond the Sky Choir", their exclusive faction, which fell apart upon their death. Something about Ena being swallowed by XIpe will certainly be brought up later, I'm almost totally sure. It's also interesting it gets cut off by static, without even finishing the statement(I think). I have no idea what to make of these- I just needed to point out the similarities between this tape and the dialogue.

Also, the tape itself is suspicious. According to Woolesley, there are multiple, appearing all over the Reverie (Dreamscape) and sometimes even messing with the Dreamscape.

First of all, why the hell is he telling us this very classified-sounding info? Also, he literally might pop up next to you- it's inevitable that you give him the tape at some point, really showing how The Family is cracking down on these.

Also, who's making these tapes? Why are they leaving them around the Dreamscape if they know it'll be taken? What's with these side effects/corrupting? And what's the relation between the tapes, Acheron, and Aventurine/Black Swan- are those things revealed in the tapes things only those three are aware of, or care to tell tb? It's really weird, especially since they're apparently in Clockie statues? Also, why tapes even- the tapes themselves seem corrupted(or censored?) weirdly, judging from the lines, and also just... why would anyone make these? Someone against the Family presumably wouldn't do rebellion in such a way, and someone within would have no reason to create this at all- is the Dreamscape itself making it? it's the only thing using both red and gold text...

there's probably some connection to Clockie, since that's who is most likely talking in the tape... and that's the statue we found it in too. Clockie is sus in a whole host of ways- don't even get me started, but I'm not sure how they relate to this theory just yet.

I have no idea. The tape is super creepy, but things probably will clear up a bit in 2.1!

tldr/clarification(sry for rambling so much): red text = lie/subjective/ easily changeable, to the dreamscape at least

gold text= "truth", dreamscape is unable to change it(?)

ena probs will have some lore relevance along with Robin, who seems to be the center of this "truth" for the moment

the bizarre tape is very mysterious and questionable, with nothing solid that we know about it- however, it uses both red and gold text, which automatically makes it suspicious even beyond what it's saying directly

what the hell is the family cooking up? i don't know, but it's probably not good! (for us, at least)

we already know how he is with his sl. loves to goof off, ropes you into doing dumb shit, but will fiercely defend you and your reputation like his life depends on it.

junpei comes from a shitty home, but after joining sees, he found people that he connects with and who accept him, and he wants you to be just the same. he wants to not only be the reason you smile, but to be a shoulder to cry on if need be

you two absolutely scheme to prank the other members of sees (though with junpei, your target is typically yukari)

bff dates to the arcade. you two get... scary competitive.

you are his number 1 hypeman when it comes to chidori. he'll go to you for romantic advice like "is this too cringey?" and you're all "nahh she'll love it!" even if it is a little cringey, they're just too cute <3

to mikey, the written test wasn't too bad—he went in, sat in his little cubicle, and got through the questionnaire without too much issue

dude couldn't lie though, he was sweating bullets at the demerit point questions FR

but of course, mikey boasts to everyone (especially baji but we'll get to that later) about his success, and is very excited to hit the road

didn't realize just how small being behind a car wheel feels until he sits and needs to bump the seat up a few notches LMAO

baji teases him: "you need heels on to reach the pedals, too? HAHHAHA"

is constantly driving with an :0 expression

"oh my god, the car is moving ken, im making the car move—ken, look!"

cheers when he does a left turn successfully, because fuck are those a pain in the ass sometimes

mikey absolutely has a snack stash in his trunk too—it's filled, and always being refilled, with sweets, savoury treats, and drinks

occasionally gets extremely tired at the wheel, and shuts his eyes for two seconds at a red light

now i don't wanna be bias (user dr4kenlvr, am i right), but ken is probably the second best driver on this list

written test wise, he passed on the first try

wasn't too difficult, and the lady at the desk even congratulated him with a warm smile, to which he happily returned

he got use to the mechanisms of the car pretty quickly

all of these gears and switches were like second nature to him, considering how much he works with motorbikes on the regular

likes to play music as he drives, it varies depending on the time of day it is

nice r&b on a night drive is always his favourite though

once draken gets really comfortable with the wheel, he'll have an arm hanging out the window

heavenly sigh—he looks really good <3

never drove alone with just his G1, despite his delinquent reputation

one thing though: he has an oddly high level of road rage LMFAOOO

draken thinks it's probably because he's in a car—surrounded by 4 walls—rather than being out in the open like on a bike

oh god—the most responsible driver out of his friends by FAR

he is so so happy when he passes, because he is able to get things done quicker with a car than by walking

dropping/picking up his sisters from school, escorting his mother to places, getting groceries, visiting his friends, just about everything in his life is made 10x easier and faster

mitsuya's car ALWAYS smells good

he's always got a new car freshener hooked onto his rearview mirror when the scent runs out

his favourite is lavender <3 and his sisters like the fruity ones but they make his and your's nose tickle

DRIVES WITH ONE HAND ON YOUR KNEE !!!!!

and he does that fucking cute side smile when he talks to you but also needs to pay attention to the road

and they rush over when they're hungry to eat and rest

I know we all feel extremely disgusted by Airi and thus I started to consider her death. Taiki mentioned that it was a murder-suicide and Akane pinpointed that incident right before the twins were conceived... Which means that very close to HKAI got together (before or after), Hikaru was freed from Airi's control.

Putting my tinfoil hat on but I'm guessing the deaths had something to do with Hikaru. Either he did it or orchestrated it to to happen? (By revealing Airi's true colours to her husband.)

The more I think about Taiki the more I feel for him because dude lived his life thinking his legal father was an asshole & chose to bear his mother's name instead but then 15YL script came out. Just wish that Aqua at least had the decency to catch up with him before all this happened because obviously he knew when he agreed to do it.

So, the timeline for Airi's death is a little weird.

In chapter 68, Taiki says he was 'about five' when it happened which is obviously vague enough to leave some wriggle room for him to be a bit older if necessary.

We know Hikaru was eleven or so when Taiki was conceived and that he's a year younger than Ai, who is a third year middle schooler when she and Hikaru meet. This would place Ai at around fourteen years old and Hikaru at around thirteen as of ch139's movie scenes, meaning that Taiki is one or two years old here and we are two years out from Ai's pregnancy.

That gives us a span of anywhere between two to five years before the murder-suicide takes place.

Depending on exactly where the characters' ages all fall on the timeline, this does all seem to line up with the idea that the HKAI relationship and Airi's death happened in very close proximity to each other.

H O W E V E R. . . We have one major wrench thrown into this by chapter 95, where Saitou states that he clearly remembers when this incident happened and that the news broke while he was in a meeting with Ai about B-Komachi's Dome concert.

I'm not super sure how long it takes to fully plan a concert like that but typically, concerts at a venue like Tokyo Dome are announced six to nine months in advance. Being as generous as possible, let's say it takes another three to six months of planning and negotiations before it gets to the announcement stage. This means there was between a year and a year and a halfs' worth of time prior to Ai's death where this meeting would have taken place, which would place the incident as happening when she was around nineteen or eighteen. Either way, if Saitou is correct here, this means the incident happened well after the twins were born.

So what does this all mean? well what it means is that the oshi no ko timeline is absolutely penised and you shouldn't worry about it too hard.

More seriously, it means we can't really directly place when the incident happened just yet because the information surrounding it is all loosey-goosey. I do imagine it'll come up in the movie at some point purely on the basis of Airi's inclusion and the explicit depiction of her abuse of Hikaru but it's hard to say at this point exactly what came first - HKAI romance or Airi's death?

Regardless... I'm gonna get on my soapbox a little and say (and this is absolutely not aimed at you, anon, bc this is clearly a good faith question and I don't want you to feel bad lol) I am honestly not a huge fan of the idea of Hikaru being framed as culpable for Airi's death.

Like... at the end of the day, Hikaru was a teenage boy when this all happened. Uehara was an adult man. Even if I really stretch my suspension of disbelief and let myself believe that Hikaru somehow knew that Uehara was going to murder Airi as a result... sorry, but Uehara is still the one who did the actual murder! Even if Hikaru was the one to finally speak up about his abuse, it was Uehara who took it to the extreme that he did.

I also just don't think it really works, thematically speaking, with what Oshi no Ko has consistently said about the way children are exploited and abused by adults in the entertainment industry and how terrifyingly few safety nets there in place to either prevent it happening or help them recover in the aftermath. Given just how few punches the story is pulling thus far with its depiction and condemnation of the horror of Airi's actions and the sheer terror Hikaru shows when faced with her... it's really hard for me to imagine the story making him culpable for her death in a way we are supposed to condemn.

Not only that, but we don't even know if Hikaru was the one to give that info to Uehara. We have speculation on the topic from characters who are generally reliable but it's not something we can say we know without a shadow of a doubt. Not only that, but...

It's possible I'm reading too much into it, but the framing of this exchange seems to imply that - at least within 15YL's portrayal of events - Uehara may already suspect something is going on with Airi -> Hikaru.

[Book 6 Spoilers]

Night Raven Quest but make that TTRPG, baby (ft. The Overblots)

Riddle doesn't really understand the whole roleplaying thing at first but surprisingly enjoys the whole dungeon exploring and puzzle solving. He'd be a Human, pretty basic, I know. And a boy scout like him would be a Paladin with very strict moral code and is very stubborn about it. His stubbornness and temper sometimes causes conflict on the table but he'll work on that. Most of the time it's not even him starting the conflict, but rather some people (Azul) getting on his nerves and causing his anger to explode. This boy seriously needs to learn to cut himself and others some slack and have fun like a normal goddamn teenager.

Leona is the type of mf who makes a hard-boiled character with serious fucked up backstory but gave them a goofy ahh name no one can keep a straight face calling him that. His character would be a war veteran Dwarf Cleric named Angus Schmungus or something. And you know what? That's probably not even his real name. His character name, background, affiliation, etc. is between him and god (the DM). And if anyone asks him about his background and/or motivations he'd just give different outlandish story every time like that one ex-convict dude from Ratatouille, neither confirming or denying the credibility of the story.

Azul would try to cheat, so they'd need a dice tower. They'd also need to check his dice before every campaign (can't be too careful with this slimy mf). During his character creation process, he prioritize stats like Charisma, Intelligence, etc. He plays a Bard and a Tiefling for that extra +2 Charisma and +1 Intelligence. Though when I said a bard, he's more like a...conman of some sorts (though he wouldn't call himself that). He'd Mansplain, Manipulate and sometimes Manwhore (should the situation call for it) his way into and out of situations.

I genuinely feel like Jamil would be a Yuan-Ti Warlock. I know how obvious and on-the-nose this is but idk it just feels right. He'd make very calculated decisions even if Lady Luck isn't on his side all the time. He'd also be the one who always take one for the team whenever one of them need to make a skill check, even if his stats doesn't seem to be the highest. He doesn't seem to be fazed by any trials that come his way and generally keeps his cool, unlike some people in this table. That is, until the DM puts down a giant enemy spider mini figure on the table and Jamil falls off his goddamn chair.

Vil surprisingly takes roleplaying pretty seriously? Idk I just can't see Vil half-assing acting even if it's only for a table top roleplaying game. And who knows? Maybe he'll finally get to be the hero he always wanted to be. His only obstacle? Leona's goofy ahh character name. Anyways, his character is an High Elf who comes from a long line of powerful noble Wizards.

Idia wanted to go fully on a "stealth DPS" (whatever that means) build, so his character creation focused primarily on what stats benefits his class more, which in this case is a Rogue Artificer. He'd invest most of his stats in Dexterity and Intelligence. For the race, he'd probably be an Elf for that +2 Dexterity; or maybe a Lightfoot Halfling for the nimbleness trait, no darkvision tho; or he could be a gnome for darkvision, +2 Intelligence and +1 Dexterity. All depends on what kind of Rogue Artificer he wants to be, he'd either be a Arcane Trickster or a Phantom (oof too close to home?). Whatever he is, he's all about that "Meta".

Malleus is very unfamiliar with the whole rules, character creation, etc but he's just happy to be invited here :). His whole thought process while creating his character is probably like 'hm..a Dragonborn? Well, I am a dragon fae..". So yeah, his character is a Dragonborn Sorcerer. Kinda predictable tbh, but very... Malleus, also his solution for every problem is to cast Fireball. Yea, his character is pretty much just him but a dragon. But hey, my golden rule in DnD is that it's all about having fun, regardless of the characters.

Almost all of them would try to be the team leader, so there's gonna be a lot of fighting and arguing on the table.

This party is dysfunctional as hell idk what to tell you

Did I mention that this is also a group therapy?

Nothing says group therapy more than a whimsical adventure with your not-friends am I right?

Naughty Babe Ramble

There's gonna be spoilers up to episode 4...just so you're aware.

I've been really stuck thinking about this past episode and sort of where we are about half-way through. I know for a lot of people, Naughty Babe is just silly fun, and there's also plenty who just wave it off as campy semi-BS. And while the show is certainly set up to be more silly than serious, I really have been engrossed by the new glimpses we've gotten into Yi and Diao now that they're at the center.

I loved them as a couple in the Cutie Pie series, though I had some concerns, mostly things that I've been able to abandon now that we've gotten a bit more insight into Yi's mind specifically. Cutie Pie is very much Kuea's perspective, and therefore pretty knowledgeable of Diao's personality, but less so of Yi.

And while I was somewhat suspicious of what we were going to see after the trailers, knowing about the whole amnesia thing, I'm actually pretty satisfied overall. Both because the amnesia didn't last for the whole season, but also because they clearly recognize that Diao knows Yi well enough to figure out he's lying. Like I do agree that both Lian and his dad would figure it out first, just because Yi doesn't hide so much from them, but I was concerned they would set Diao up to look a bit like an imbecile, and he is so not.

I'm gonna start by talking about Diao, mostly because he's my favorite, but also because if we recognize that this show is mostly Yi's perspective, then I'm so happy they're still showing Diao as feisty, and cute. He's still shown as a little shy, but I think he's definitely guarded around Yi, especially right in this time, so it makes sense, that he sort of reads it that way. One of my favorite things about Diao in Cutie Pie was that he was clearly just as strong-willed and self-aware as Kuea, but where Kuea is more brash, Diao is just a tad softer. But his softness isn't weakness (I fucking hate when people think that) and we're continually given glimpses of his strength, both mentally and physically.

His practice and teaching of Taekwondo is clearly part of that, it's a martial arts style that has a heavy focus on meditation and mindfulness, but also philosophy of how you should behave as a citizen of humanity. It's also listed often as a potentially good option for self-defense in those that are of smaller stature (which Diao is). It's a martial art that I think is well-matched to the character, in that it's both strong and elegant, with a focus on moral character.

The series so far shows Diao as mainly admirable...which is great, but it also speaks to what Diao is so frustrated by. He's not a piece of art, he doesn't want to be set on a pedestal and admired, he wants to be loved. He's been clear in his passion to Yi in the past, but it's Yi's that's stuck in his own head about what if's and so they aren't able to progress. And so now we're 3 years in the future, and Diao's wondering if he read everything all wrong.

So moving on to hia Yi...I know you're trying, but god, do I wish that you would just get it together. I understand that the root of his behavior is all fear. He's afraid that the past coming to light, and his connection to Diao's trauma will cause DIao to hate him...and dude...if you pulled your head out of your ass and actually took in the person that Diao has become you'd see that it would never happen. I know he's drowning in the guilt of what happened with the tiger/puma/dog/jackalope (depending on when and where the story's being told)...but if you think Diao would learn that and not recognize that you were a 15 year old child who made a horrible mistake??? Diao has so much empathy, and Yi knows that, but he's still can't comprehend that that empathy also extends to him for some reason.

As flawed as the man is, and honestly as poorly as he sees himself sometimes, though usually glossed over by the sheen of narcissism, he can be such a good man. In all of this universe, I've always been a bit meh on Max's acting, I'll be honest. He's fine, but I've always felt like because his character was so staid that I wasn't engaged, especially when Zee and Nunew and Nat were given so much more expression and emotion. But this last couple of episodes really, but especially number four, he has really been doing some great work.

He's both solidified a lot of aspects of the character as well as bringing new depth. The nightmares talk and panic attack scene were really so good. Him just laying there as Diao talks about his nightmares and his eyes are just full of so many different emotions. and then when the panic attack really kicks in, his overall concern is not disturbing Diao. You don't have to have an internal monologue to know exactly where this panic attack comes from, and it's portrayed really well in my opinion. Of course everyone's experience will differ, but my sister has an anxiety disorder, and really her feelings as she's described them and her physical condition as I've watched her experience these attacks...they match up pretty well.

In a lot of ways I do feel like we are seeing a little bit of the same character arc for the couple here that we saw for Lian and Kuea in Cutie Pie, with both Lian and Yi afraid that somehow they're being selfish in wanting their relationships with Kuea and Diao respectively. I think it's something that stems from their age difference, this knowing that there is a lot of opportunity out there for them, and are they sort of clipping their wings? It's a bit different for Kuea and Diao, but it does boil down to both wanting to be truly seen for who they are. For Kuea it was about reconciling his 'true self' and knowing that Lian loved him still. With Diao, I think it's about being seen as himself, but also being seen as someone worthy of being a true partner to Yi, to stand beside him. I think Yi's tendency to coddle him and lie to him has caused him to assume that Yi doesn't believe he's capable of handling the truth. And in a bit of a match to Kuea, since they've always been these sort of biddable, polite people (which is based around the cultural expectations especially in relation to their age difference), will there still be love and affection if they're assertive of their own needs/desires? For Kuea the answer was clearly yes, which Diao knows, but I think Lian was also a lot easier to read for Diao than Yi. It's also complicated by the fact that Diao is also afraid of what he might see, and so I think he chooses not to.

My last little part isn't really about character, but more about how wildly uncomfortable I was watching the interactions between Diao's family and Yi and Diao. It was both awkward and insanely infuriating. I felt so insulted on Yi's behalf, watching this family treat him like little more than an open wallet. And don't even get me started on Diao, the way I know he was so embarrassed by their behavior, not just because it's so icky, but also because it makes him wonder "Does hia Yi think that I'm in this for his money??" I also kind of hated it because hia Yi clearly values family, and I know for certain that he's glad that his own father has such strong love and affection for Diao, to not be seen equally by Diao's family probably really hurts.

(I'm sorry this was such a ramble, but I have a lot of random feelings about the show.)

Nil (Horizon Dawn Zero/Forbidden West) - My current obsession I'm rotating around in my mind. What's not to love he's charming in the sense that his most common AU occupation is "Serial Killer." Will he kill you? Depends! Only if you suck, and he promises to never stab you in the back, he wants to look you in the eye if he tries to kill you. But actually, I find him utterly fascinating and in the context of HZD he's just. so nuanced it destroys me. This man has decades of c-ptsd and asks the question of what happens when someone drenched in violence is suddenly expected to stop fighting- the answer is, it takes a lot! I adore him.

Kassandra (AC:Odyssey) - Look the more I think about Kassandra and like the canon quests in that game the more I'm like. They did you wrong, girl. They did you so dirty. SHE JUST WANTS TO GO HOME. IT TAKES DECADES. HER STORY IS A FUSION OF THE ODYSSEY AND THE ILIAD. YOU CAN APPLY THEMES FROM BOTHA ND IT DRIVES ME INSANE. And. And then they say, all thsi you worked so hard for? Well. We have other things we need from you. I am going to chew through my arm.

Mizu (Blue Eye Samurai) - Look. I could link thousand upon thousands words of meta about Mizu and her/they're relationship to gender and existence as a mixed race individual in isolationist Japan. And it still wouldn't capture it all. And past that it's hot person brutally murdering people in absolutely fantastically animated fight scenes.

Vincent Valentine (Final Fantasy VII) - Look. He's my original blorbo. I saw 10 minutes of screen time of him in Advent Children and have been insane ever since. I bought and played through Dirge of Cerberus for him. Something about him apparently just imprinted on me as a child, I've been a lost cause ever since.

Xaden Riorson (Fourth Wing/Iron Flame) - These books are still relatively new so I'll hold my tongue since a lot of what I am obsessed with re: him is spoilers but oh my god. oh. my. god. buddy.

Axel (Kingdom Hearts) - Also an original blorbo from childhood, imprinted on him like a baby duck. His death in KH2 made me bawl. His entire storyline makes me sob, he's the reason why every single aspect of Roxas' story was a gut punch cause like. The best way to make people care about characters is give them someone who loves them then make it sad.

Charles Milton Porter (Bioshock 2: Minerva's Den) - Look. This dude's DLC made me cry. big cry. I still kinda get choked up when i think about it for a while. it's about the grief.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits - I can't choose a characters from this, so I just advise everyone to play this game. It's so good. You're going to be emotionally devastated. It's also about grief. Every character in this game is so so good and you will feel things.

Joe Miller (The Expanse) - He was not the first but he was my defining love of shitty noir space detectives. I loved him from when he was introduced to when he left the series and my love was rewarded so much. Holden and Amos were the runner up characters for this fandom.

Death (The Book Thief) - I read the book thief for the first time in 7th grade I think? Every day of my life since them on my commute to work or when on break I look at the sky and think about how Death would describe the taste of the colors. This book irrecoverably changed me from the day I read it and firmly cemented this Death as the death i hope is there at the end of everything, i love this version of it so much. This death is like. look. go read the book if you haven't had the opportunity.

Random Eddie Munson Headcanons

Part II

I've said some of these before- I know. Also please keep in mind that these are my own personal headcanons! You don't have to agree with all of them

I saw somebody saying he's probably screwed all of the cheerleaders and that's why he's so nice to them? I see your headcanon and raise you: he's polite to the cheerleaders because a. He's a gentleman. B. Bet you five bucks they've stopped the football team from beating his ass at least once

He failed senior year his first time because of his mother's passing. The second year he failed was because of his father's murder trial. His mindset was quickly deteriorating and the only thing that kept him sane was the fact that Wayne fought so hard to keep Eddie.

Oh my God, Wayne.

His literal best friend ever.

Eddie was already into rock and metal and Wayne only nurtured that. Helped Eddie save up for his first guitar.

Eddie was the lead guitarist and vocalist for Corroded Coffin

My take on 2x06 & jealous Brett because I just remembered I have social media and I can tell this stuff to people other than my fiance

Inside job s2 spoilers / Breagan my beloved / PLEASE DO NOT REPLY WITH HATE i can't stand negativity

- My overall take because I am a very organized person (I am not)

Whether I liked the episode or not really depends on the actual meaning behind it. The plot and structure were excellent! Ron and Brett's little rivalry was hilarious and I felt Reagan's anxiety all the damn time. I really enjoyed it and I always appreciate Andre's screentime <3 However, there is some stuff that just... Doesn't make sense? The ending is what I would call... Not rushed, per se, but forced.

I found the episode funny and cool (and stressful if you relate to Reagan or Brett in any way) and really worth it! But that's it. It's like they were trying to build a really sad and shocking climax for Reagan's relationship with Ron, but using a filler episode as the conductor. The whole episode focuses on Brett and his negative feelings towards Ron to end up with Ron and Reagan taking a break from each other. Which is not a bad way to focus on the story, but I feel like if they wanted us to focus on Reagan and Ron ONLY they would've made the episode only about them, and make the Brett/Ron argument shorter and less crucial for the plot.

I also feel like the conclusion (Ron deciding that maybe work is too dangerous for them) makes sense! But Reagan's? She says something about balancing work and their relatioship, and it makes sense too, but they don't really show how work affects their relationship in specific.

Another thing that just feels odd to me is Brett's behavior. Of course, this whole post is to defend my view as a Breagan shipper and you might think that I'm just gaslighting manipulating girlbossing you into thinking he was jealous, but I couldn't care less about people's opinions (that's a lie, I kin Brett). I genuinely think Brett was acting weird and definitely not in character if it's meant to be seen as only platonic. I didn't even ship Breagan this much until I finished the season and without having them in mind I still thought he was acting a bit too strange.

Aside from the ending and Brett's behavior (which I will address now), the episode is really good! One of my favorites for sure, and it's not even because Andre has more than three lines (It really makes a difference, though).

- The ending and how it made my girl Reags dirty

Let's start off with the ending, just like when you find an interesting movie on TV but you're too tired to watch it from the beginning so you just enjoy what's left without context!

Ron's conclusion makes sense, but Reagan's "We will find a way to balance our lives and jobs" just... Doesn't. You may not agree with me about Brett being jealous, but this is something that's been bothering me for a while and I know I'm right.

Ron decides, after being chased by his girlfriend's coworkers, realizing that her BFF doesn't like him and that Cognito is darker than he thought, that it's not a good idea to mix work and love. Which is fair, to be honest. He literally saw clones of Hitler and organs of babies, like, I wouldn't feel safe there either.

But it's not what Ron thinks about Cognito and work that bothers me, because nobody would want their girlfriend working there. What he thinks is completely valid and although I didn't like the fact that he ghosted Reags (dude just text her my girl was literally begging you for a proper answer), he has the right to want to step out from that world. What truly makes me angry is Reagan's search for the perfect reality in the last episode.

I know what's the point they were trying to make: Reagan is a workaholic and wouldn't be able to keep a stable relationship with Ron.

Which makes a lot of sense and it's not out of character at all! God knows Reags has been obsessed with Cognito and being the boss and changing the world for forever. But the show doesn't give us an explicit example of that.

I know. We aren't dumb. We read between the lines. We get Reagan. It's inside the subtext and her entire persona. Easy to see, easy to understand, doesn't need to be explicit.

This argument would work if it wasn't because there's no subtext! We don't see (not even ONCE) how work is more important for Reagan than Ron. In fact, it's the opposite. Every time she has to choose between work and love, she chooses love:

Date with Ron >> Their mission in Rome -> Rome on fire

Desperately trying to convince Ron to work for Cognito and forgetting about actual work to a point where you would think she wouldn't get anything done if Ron was there with her -> Zombie apocalyspe (that was on Brett but she was the one forcing him to get along with Ron so-)

Being scared to lose Ron in one of the timlines >> Actually saving the timeline (by this I don't mean she didn't care about the timline and the others, but she was pretty much focused on not losing Ron. Which is valid and pretty damn romantic so go girl!!!)

(This is not Reagan slander, by the way! She's been through A LOT and deserves to be selfish. I support women's rights but most importantly I support women's wrongs!)

So how the hell my girl (at the end of ep 6) gets to the conclusion that they couldn't balance both things? She was doing pretty well until the Halloween party, and it didn't even get in between their relationship, it just proved Ron's point about the work not being safe. Which, again, makes sense, but doesn't really get in between their lives in the same way the last episode says.

Episode 6: Work is dangerous and it gets in between our relationship. We have proof. Here's a whole episode putting Ron in danger to prove it.

Episode 8: Work gets in between our relationship because Reagan would put work first. Which makes sense due to her personality, but we've been proving otherwise the whole damn season!

Just stick with one reason or develop both of them but don't change them!!!!

We suppose Reagan would be a workaholic girlfriend if Ron worked there due to her personality and ambition, but we don't actually see it? And it's not really that important and y'all must be thinking I'm reading too much into it, but I just think an explicit confirmation of Reags caring more about work than for Ron would've been great. The different realities in which she treats him like shit aren't out of character but feel odd, considering that she's been choosing him over work multiple times this season. Man, just a little tiny example I'm not asking for much.

Maybe it would've been different if she hadn't gotten that promotion. Maybe she would've been happy with Ron. I know those realities are focused on the possibility of changing the world she didn't have before Ron asked her to move in together, but... I don't know. As if she didn't care for her job before the promotion, y'know?

Basically, for me the whole workaholic thing appears out of nowhere and doesn't make sense with the Ron/Reags dyamic we've seen.

And this whole thing is connected to episode 6 because I think that episode would've been a great moment to introduce both points of view: Reagan prioritizing work and Ron not finding their jobs safe enough.

- The writers' decision and how I would've written the episode because I apparently have too much free time in class to think about this

The episode is great, but I don't understand why Brett is the protagonist here. If the conclusion is meant to be about Reagan and Ron taking a break from each other and asking THE question ("Is work getting in between our relationship?"), why is Brett the one we focus on through the episode?

If it's meant to be just a slight dislike and just not getting along with Ron, why is it so damn crucial to the plot? It's not just Brett wanting to be friends with Ron in a silly, little, sitcomy way. It's Brett wondering WHY he feels like that towards Ron. It's Brett wanting to support his BFF's boyfriend but not being able to do it for no reason whatsoever. It's literally Brett provoking the reason why Ron decides to take a break from Reagan.

Whether it is meant to be romantic or platonic, Brett is technically the reason why Ron acts like that in the end. He even makes a whole zombie apocalypse happen! Just because he didn't like Ron! C'mon it's absurd to think that's strictly platonic. This plot has been going on for years in thousand of different sitcoms: F/M best friends! One starts dating someone! The other doesn't like them! They don't know why! Wow, turns out they were in love the whole time and didn't realize they were jealous.

Classic trope for best friends to lovers.

But yeah, let's say it's platonic. Let's say Brett's reaction to Ron is just a silly plot device to make the guy realize Cognito is dangerous and even the simplest guy with the most innocent intentions could cause an apocalypse.

Why make the episode focus on Brett, then? If his feelings for Ron aren't that related to his relationship with Reags, why are those the ones to make them question their rellationship?

If it's just platonic then I find the episode a bit unnecessary.

If they wanted to show us how work affects them, and not only Brett, why wouldn't they make an episode about that in specific? It isn't that hard.

I personally would've kept the same plot: Reagan trying to convince Ron to work for Cognito using the team's opinions and views on their work!

They go to Brett and everything's the same. They don't get along. It's uncomfortable. But it stays there. Brett makes some comments about how fun it is to work for Cognito but accidentally reveals how dangerous it is, and Ron starts getting a bit worried and confused because... Where the hell has been his girlfriend working?

Then they go to Andre, Gigi, Glenn, Myc... Basically, individual meetings with each. Funny sketches. All of them fuck everything up by talking about work and how it actually is and Ron gets scared with every experience he hears.

And meanwhile, Reagan gets caught up with work! There's drama everywhere! Something something someone died. Something something the Hitler clones scaped. Something something Kanye West is a nazi now and we need to end him. Something somehing zombie apocalypse.

That way we see Reagan sort of neglecting her relationship with Ron because of work, and Ron realizing how dangerous it is.

It doesn't need to be all about Brett. At all. The ending is still the same.

So why would they make Brett the main plot point, wondering why he acts the way he does, if not to be important later? Not to mention that his character is reduced to this from this episode to the end.

"Ron made fun of Brett's interests and was lowkey mean to him!"

Brett is a pathological people pleaser, and as the pathological people pleaser I am I can confirm that that wasn't the reason why he disliked Ron. Brett likes everyone. Everyone. No matter what they do. It's not even... Like, like. It's just having to see the best in everyone because he wants to be able to get along with them so they don't hate him.

Making fun of his favorite music? Drinks? Comedian? That's soft compared to what half of the people he knows say to him. Literally you could meet him for the first time, tell him that Friends is a shitty sitcom and he would literally tell you that you're right and then cry while watching the finale.

He's constantly putting other people first and swallowing his opinions and pride, so why not sharing the same opinions as Ron would make him dislike him? It doesn't make any sense.

Besides, Ron wasn't even mean or intentionally hurting Brett. And even if he had been, Brett would've probably been the one apologizing, too. He has encountered horrible people through his life and you're telling me that Ron, his best friend's boyfriend, is the one that makes him dislike someone for once? Not buying it. Doesn't make sense.

"Brett is just worried about Reagan."

Literally doesn't make any sense because Ron hasn't shown any signs of being a bad boyfriend. And if that was the case and Brett was just being an overprotevtive best friend, it would've been explicit. There's no need to hide it in the subtext. And it wouldn't even make sense for the last episodes.

"Brett has abandonment issues."

Yeah, this one's true I can't fight against this one. However, it doesn't prove anything. He can have abandonment issues and still be in jealous. It can be both!

"He's just scared of losing his best friend."

Once again, yeah, true. But it doesn't make sense to me! The reason why Brett is so obsessed with Ron is because he can't figure out why he doesn't like him. If it was meant to be platonic they would've just said so explicitly and it wouldn't have been the main plot.

"They just don't have chemistry."

Ron is like a sad boy version of Reagan with religious trauma, there's no reason why Brett wouldn't like him. They do have chemistry! Brett is the sun, Reagan is the moon, and Ron is an eclipse! (not in a bad way like- I hope y'all have seen that friendship dynamics pic because otherwise this doesn't make sense but I swear it's really cute).

They end up having chemistry and getting along! But only because Ron gave Brett a reason to like him, which Brett has never ever needed before.

"It's just a plot device lmfao stop looking this much into it."

Maybe???? But idk I would like to be a screenwriter someday so looking into things a lot is my thing.

Canonically, Ron is the first person Brett has ever disliked. Which might be an exageration because this boy tends to say stuff like this a lot, but as far as we know it's canon. So, having that in mind, we know that Ron is actually the first person to make Brett panic over not liking someone.

It's completely normal, he just wants to make Reagan happy. Everything he does is for Reagan. Can we PLEASE remember that he's doing this for Reagan? Because I think we don't talk about it enough.

The thing about Brett not liking Ron is that Brett doesn't know why he dislikes him...

Despite being a horrible father and boss, Brett likes Rand! We've seen them interacting or, well, at least we haven't seen Brett hating him. Brett likes Myc despite being a total asshole to him and the others, and he probably is the only one (except Andre) that considers Myc to be a real friend. For literal no reason. Brett still likes his bullies. He likes his shitty family. He liked Reagan although she treated him like shit in the first episode.

And maybe it's not like, like. But it's enough to make him have a normal life with them and be able to to be of service for their approval (istg this guy's just like me fr).

So why's this any different with Ron? Maybe the writers were just trying to make this a plot device and forgot about Brett's inability to hate people. But is that really what happened? Why make it the main plot of the episode, then?

And why make Brett ask himself why he didn't like Ron?

If it was because of not sharing interests or being mean or whatever (something tangible) it would've been obvious. But he spends the episode asking himself that. It's not just a silly little dynamic, it's Brett actively wondering why he doesn't like his best friend's boyfriend.

In fact, the first time he finds out about Reagan being with someone else he's excited for her! He's happy! And I don't want to project my neurodivergency on him, but maybe the fact that Ron was just an idea and not someone tangible for him yet made him unable to picture him as a threat. And when he truly is there, he finally has someone to be jealous of.

He ends up having a soft spot for Ron, but it's only because he explicitly gave him a reason to like him. And then the last two episodes his whole character is reduced to missing Reagan, projecting on a golden retriever they have to kill, and sacrificing his happiness for Reagan's.

Yeah, totally platonic! As if this clearly wasn't the same exact plot of every romantic comedy to ever exist.

-B plot and parallelisms through the season because I've rewatched this like three times already since it came out. I need therapy. Please help me get out of here.

You thought I had forgotten about Rand's plot??? Well, jokes on you, I was waiting for the parallelisms!

I couldn't care less about the B plot in this episode. If I'm being honest I found it funny but didn't really understand the reason behind it until the last episode and after rewatching it a couple of times.

B plots are often meant to be the juxtaposition between character arcs, parallelisms or just funny little stories to make the main one softer. This time it's the three of them.

Basically, two boys fighting for a girl. That's it. That's like the whole plot. Tamiko comes to the conclusion that work is what made Rand such a shitty and crazy person. Do I really need to say more? Like I'm genuinely tired of writing and the parallelisms with this subplot are pretty much obvious.

Then we have more parallelisms in the finale!

"I had everything. I had my job, I had power. I know it's a fucking cliché, but it's true. You don't know what matters most until you lose it." - Rand about Tamiko and Reagan, 2x07

Brett is well aware of how much he loves Reagan, but maybe not in what way exactly. Her dating someone else might just be that thing that tells him: "Yes. This is it. You're losing her forever. She's gonna move out and be with another man and you're going to be abandoned again. She doesn't love you as much." And I don't know if they're going to keep up with this thing next season, but it wouldn't be weird to follow this statement.

Although I know this quote is meant to be about Reagan and Ron and probably about her regretting not moving with him next season, so the Brett thing is just a theory.

"You can't just hit a button over and over and expect a relationship to go back to the way it was. And I know it's scary to give up control." - Reagan about her parents and her and Ron, 2x07

Once again, obviously about Reagan and Ron. But would it be crazy to think this could be about Brett too? Like wanting constantly to go back (after finding out about Appletone) to when it was just Reagan and him. Talking to the dog as if he was Reagan. Missing her. Wanting her back. The thing about Brett is that he doesn't hit any buttons to go back because he cares more about Reagan's happiness than for his own. But yeah, I think it makes sense.

"And I got this. All I care about is that you're happy." - Brett to Reagan, 2x08

"And as long as the person you love is happy, maybe you can be happy later." - Reagan about Ron, 2x08

"Thanks for sticking by when no one else did. A good leader wouldn't drag their best friend into their dad's bullshit. I don't know if we'll ever get back to our realities, but I've seen yours and it looks good. If I succeed I'll see you again. But if not... Good luck, Brett." - Reagan to Brett, 2x07

"I searched a thousand lifetimes for the one that would make you happiest. And you'll find it one day. Just... Without me. [...] I'll miss you, Ron, and I know it were possible, you'd miss me too." - Reagan to Ron, 2x08

Do I need to say more or....?

They both parallel each other so damn much- And to be honest, maybe it is unrequited. It probably is unrequited. But it could go both ways someday! Let's be optimistic.

-"I listen to Accidentally in love from the Shrek 2 soundtrack every day!!!!" Brett. Love of my life. Is it the vibes or the lyrics?? IS IT BECAUSE THE VIBES OR THE LYRICS????? ANSWER ME BRETT HAND-

"So, she said, "What's the problem, baby?" What's the problem? I don't know. Well, maybe I'm in love. Think about it. Every time I think about it."

"How much longer will it take to cure this? Just to cure it, 'cause I can't ignore it if it's love. Makes me wanna turn around and face me but I don't know nothing bout love."

The writing team choosing the song Brett could mention while starting an uncomfortable dynamic with his best friend's boyfriend: What about a song about falling in love accidentally and not being able to stop it?

Okay so maybe it's not THAT specific. Maybe they just wanted a silly little song from a silly little movie so people would look at Brett, smirk and say "haha he's just like me fr". But?? Is it really?? As I said I want to be a writer and I wouldn't choose something as important and cool as a character's favorite song (okay maybe not FAVORITE CANON but he loves it so) just for the memes. It has to mean something, c'mon.

-Why I think Breagan wouldn't destroy the show (as some of you say) and actually would make them one of the most powerful couples ever (this has absolutely nothing to do with my love for coworkers to BFFs to lovers)

I do agree with a lot of you: We need more M/F platonic relationships. However... Have you ever considered that Brett and Reagan are just... Not really that platonic anymore? It's not the first time we've seen this. Mostly in sitcoms! Jim and Pam from The Office, Jake and Amy from Brooklyn 99, Nick and Jess from New Girl, I can keep going... And going... I kin Brett I know about sitcoms!

Reagan loved Ron. She truly did. But it's true that he needed a normal life and she was... Midnight rain. Sorry, Taylor Swift reference. But!! Reagan would end up choosing work and it doesn't mean she doesn't love Ron, it's just that work is equally important to her and knew he wouldn't be happy if they stayed together.

But it could work with Brett. it works with Brett. Because if they dated he would understand Reagan's priorities. He would be always there for her. And he wouldn't try to keep her away from danger (he would be worried sick, ofc, and always would be there to help) because he knows Reagan wants that.

They work well together and their dynamic is sweet, a bit cliché and easy to build. Maybe it's the easy path but that doesn't mean it's necessarily bad.

As an aroace person I love platonic dynamics, but maybe this is not the one we need!! Or maybe it is, tbh I couldn't care less because either way I trust the writers to give us a great relationship development, whether it is romantic or platonic. But idk I would like to see more of Reagan with the other guys and Brett with Gigi! Maybe Andre and Gigi? It would be great not to rely on just one platonic friendship.

And by the way, there's also this possibility of them being completely platonic and Brett not being jealous. Maybe he's just a good best friend that feels a bit worried about his friendship and that's all! If you don't agree with my opinion, that's great too! Just respect everyone's points of view on this because I've seen a lot of hate towards breagan shippers and it's a completely harmless ship!! <3

Ghostbat: A Bruce Wayne/Minhkhoa Khan Ship Primer (part 2)

"I need your help." — Bruce Wayne

Part 1

So, part one covered most of their backstory and the events leading up to Ghostmaker's introduction in Batman #100. I gave a brief summary at the end of part one about what happened when Ghostmaker came to town, I want to dive into that a little deeper just to give the full picture of just how unhinged Bruce is at the moment. If part one was an ode to Minhkhoa, part two is going to focus on Bruce because there are some pretty juicy bits that, in my opinion, just make the ship that much more interesting. Spoilers ahead, if anyone is wanting to avoid them.

Bruce Wayne

So the thing is, Bruce is kind of going through it. Well, Bruce is always going through it, but this time Alfred is dead and thanks to the Joker stealing all his money during Joker war and the government being on his ass about it, Bruce is literally a millionaire instead of a billionaire broke. So, in order to save money/be more efficient/be more connected to the people of Gotham, he leaves Wayne Manor and the batcave behind to live in a brownstone in the city. That means now he has to depend on mini caves and caches throughout the city, Oracle, and actually reaching out to The Family (tm) when it comes to fighting crime. He also can't just blow shit up anytime he wants and have it replaced anymore. <sad face>

Oh yeah, he also has neighbors now. The Batman has neighbors. My dude is truly going through it. No Alfred, no Batcave, no endless supplies of money, no Selina. Just a guy and his closer-than-appears-in-mirror impending mental breakdown. (If this ship primer turns into a Why I Think Bruce Wayne Is Having a Mid-Life Crisis essay, no it doesn't.)

But seriously. Ghostmaker comes to town, tranq's him, locks him in a room to kill or be killed, thinks, "Hey, what Bruce really needs is to be traumatized more, specifically regarding the deaths of young teenage boys..."

Kills a whooooole bunch of people, which, you know, Batman is usually kind of...opposed to?

And they fight for about a minute, then Bruce gives him the old It's Too Easy To Kill speech and pouts at him and the big bad simp Ghostmaker folds like a cheap suit lmao

Ya'll are embarrassing fr. Not five minutes after he escaped the room where Ghostmaker locked him, Harley, and Clownhunter in until one of them killed the other, Bruce is like baby wait pls don't go lmao EMBARRASSING.

Anyway, you could call Bruce's general attitude and personality in this new arc character growth and maturity and learning or you could take my route and be like healthy behavior? From Bruce Wayne? It's a red flag for me. Asking for help? MY Bruce Wayne? Just doesn't add up.

No but seriously, I am literally loving Tynion's Bruce. He is so vulnerable and yet still very Batman. It's weird to see him reaching out and asking for help tbqh, but due to current circumstances it makes complete sense and good for him for not being a complete idiot about it. Still, this is a ship primer and it does seem to be one specific character he prefers to reach out to and it makes me lose my miiiiiiind.

These panels in particular make me want to chew my own face off. Bruce isn't able to use his comms to tell Oracle where he needs a pickup, so he just starts blowing shit up, of course. And of course, he does it in morse code and of course Minhkhoa picks up on it.

AND THEN.

This bitch just jumps out of the damn building assuming Minhkhoa will catch his ass.

Which he does, obviously, because that's his baby girl he's an awesome, very skilled crime fighting super hero.

Now, I don't know what Minhkhoa's voice sounds like, but what I do know is that, "Oh would you have?" was spoken at least three octaves higher than his usual voice like a hysterical wife. I just love that scene SO MUCH. Bruce just flinging himself out of a building, knowing Minhkhoa is going to catch him. Chef kiss. 10/10. Fuckin perfection.

Also, Babs doesn't seem to like or trust Ghostmaker, which is totally fair, but listen, Bruce ain't having it.

I literally feel like I'm overdosing on Bruce Wayne ADMITTING HE NEEDS OTHER PEOPLE. Whew. What's that, though? You want more examples of Bruce being vulnerable and trusting and needing his Khoa more than anyone else? I got u, I got u. During the Fear State arc they're dealing with Scarecrow and all his minfucky bullshit and who does he want? Khoa.

YEEEEEAHHHHHHHH THAT'S THE GOOD SHIT. Bruce Wayne saying I need your help. Holy shit. Yes. Good.

And who, you ask, does Bruce literally trust with his mind? Like, who does he trust to literally look inside and walk around his own goddamn mind and help him unscramble his compromised brain?

Just the clinical psychopath who's tried to kill him on more than one occasion <333

And who is it that helps figure out what kind of fuckery was going on and brings Bruce back to the land of sanity?

Yeeeeeeeah. :)

And if I could just scooch in here with a little bonus Khoa love, look at him. Wanting to learn empathy, wanting to understand Bruce better. And Bruce teasing him! God I hate them when will they kiss

So yeah, for those playing along, that makes three or four times that Bruce Wayne has uttered the words "I need help," without having some kind of emotionally repressed brain explosion over it. Let's see. He:

Asks Minhkhoa not to leave Gotham, to stay and help him with the city.

Doesn't explicity ask for help, but does jump out of a building, trusting that Minhkhoa will catch him.

Straight up asks Minhkhoa for help when he realizes his mind has been compromised by Scarecrow.

And in issue #121 we see this:

Which leads to Bruce asking Minhkhoa (again, yes he's asked him more than once) to take over leadership of Batman Incorporated. Dick told us that he asked once, years ago, and it didn't go well, but this time Minhkhoa acceps and becomes the new leader and also starts training Clownhunter (instead of killing him! Character growth!) which brings us up to date.

Late night posting addition. Part one is Right Here. Will there be a part three? Four even? Depends on how long their gonna rot my brain for. We'll see.

My Worst Nightmare (affectionate)

Since they first knew each other, Jack has been ADAMANT, whole heartedly believes, that there's an audible difference between Killian laughing WITH him vs. AT him. He says he can hear the subtle difference but everyone else thinks he's crazy.

Conversations involving catching up about all the things that have happened in the past 910 yrs.

K: So yeah, I did get my leg caught in a bear trap once and that was pretty wild.

J: YOU DID WHAT??

You bet your sweet ASS that Jack takes full advantage of that stupid fucking scarf he always wears. That shits ALWAYS getting yanked.

There will be the very occasional snow on Halloween. Jack uses this as a very blatant lie of an excuse to visit Kills on the job during the holiday.

They both STILL hold a grudge on Cupid. Stupidly in love once again and they still hate his guts. They tried complaining about it to him once and Cupid goes:

"Oh, so what I'm hearing is that you wanna break up YET AGAIN!? You wanna fall out of love twice, fuckers? Because I can make that happen! I can take all that away again right now. Stop running ya mouths."

The both of them never brought it up again after that.

Mostly Jack is the one with the uphill climb on that front. Duna hates his GUTS and there is such a minute microscopic chance of her coming around to him again. And the image of Jack absolutely floundering about trying to win over this woman is amazing.

At some point Killian goes: "Dude, it's not gonna work. I expected this and it's fine that she doesn't like you."

And Jack goes: "It is NOT fine. I WILL win her over somehow and she WILL like me!"

Spoiler alert: She doesn't.

WINTER STREETS/FORESTS AT NIGHT!!!

It's their whole vibe and they love hanging out in those areas in the dead of night in the middle of winter. Because ugh it's freezing cold, it's scary dark, there is no one around and it's completely uninhabitable and miserable. But not to them!! They are probably the only ones who will find such a scenario thoroughly enjoyable and romantic even.

Killian, along with not being able to slow dance, also can't ice skate! He's never learned, so Jack abuses this 100% and has frozen many lakes to force him out on. It's the same thing as the dancing where it's one of the rare instances that he's more dependent on him. Ego boost of the century.

PLUS, MORE BED SHARING DIATRIBES! Because it's my new favorite thing

They don't sleep in the same bed often. Jack only needs to sleep every couple days and Kills every week, so it's only occasionally that this happens at all.

There is no one designated big/little spoon. They switch on almost a daily basis. They're both switches. It's just a matter of who initiates first that day.

BUT! Killian does sleep with his eyes open. So as long as Jack is not directly facing him as he's trying to sleep, it's all good.

It's a nonnegotiable requirement that Kills sleeps with the heated blanket. If he doesn't, he will get hypothermia in the night and will complain about it for the entire rest of the following day.

The night always starts of very normal, but as they sleep, they just get more and more tangled up. And it's WORSE because Killian's joints can bend in impossible ways, so they wake up the next morning absolutely MANGELED and in a mess of limbs.

Does Ev get the abilities of whatever universe he's in, (like healing magic in deltarune or something) or does he only have the ones he started with?

Hi it's currently one in the morning but this can't wait so here goes.

The answer is sort of!

Ev started out with [REDACTED] and accelerated healing, but lost the former, so really the only special ability he has is the healing stuff, and even that is finicky.

A lot of it depends on the sword. Its health, its mood, (cough, whether or not he has it, cough), and whether it feels up to cooperating. Yes it has moods. I will not be elaborating on this /lh

In any case, any "abilities" he gains are more just adaptations to the world around him. High altitude? Expanded lung capacity. Always dark? His eyes get a little sharper. Subzero climate? Dude hates the cold, but he'll manage.

Usually he walks into the world with the equipment he needs, no thanks to his own body, but on rare occasions he actively changes to fit the mold. Like in the deltarune universe!

A universes set laws more often change his physical form, but other stuff is up in the air. Like, oh, I don't know, the visual (physical?) manifestation of a soul?

Anyways, the CIA agent assigned to monitor my brainwaves is getting suspicious and saying any more will be spoilers. (Plus this is getting. Pretty long) So, I shall leave you with this.

Lol, I messaged you asking which OC to write about without checking the list. I need more tea. 🌸 Who's your most morally questionable OCs (not including villains)?

Gods, this is a hard one. I mean, it's gonna have to depend on your definition of "villains." I've got a couple of characters who aren't formally antagonists, but are still very much awful people.

To be fair, NONE of my characters are paragons of virtue. Most of these guys suck a little bit. Hell, even one of my romantic leads eats a bunch of people in the first book. And the second... and... yeah, Reli's got a theme here.

And if we're considering that the Fae do NOT measure themselves by Human ethics? Even the so-called Good Guys are going to make some decisions that we all hate. I wish they'd ask me before they do this crap.

As it is, I'm gonna be stuck somewhere between Ser Elias and Agent Larson, though. I won't tell you why, because that would be a spoiler, and they're both allies in the first book, but yeah. These two... just nah.

🍀 Which OCs would get along the best?

Most of them do interact at some point, and oddly, Doctor Pertwee and Billy Jameson surprised me by getting along way, way too well. Two old dudes who are trying just SO HARD to not have any more adventures of their own, but keep having to step in to rescue those damned kids who can't stay out of trouble. I suppose it was only a matter of time before they wound up living together.

OK OK HERE WE GO! So, let's say ranpo is the first one who meets perfect crime trio's s/o. He just acts like a (mostly) normal guy, getting to know them and being friendly... Just leaving out the fact that he already knows everything there is to know about them. After the guild arc, Poe joins the picture, and as Ranpo's bestie he naturally gets to hear all about s/o, even getting introduced to them through Ranpo! As far as s/o is aware, Ranpo and Poe are just two really nice dudes who they're probably developing an interest in - in fact they definitely are, cause Ranpo knows exactly what to say to charm s/o and Poe has the money to buy them everything they could ever want. They have some more unethical and delusional ideas about what they could do to ensure s/o is theirs (like trapping them in Poe's book, Ranpo convincing them they need to stay with him cause of some dangerous criminal on the loose, etc) but they don't feel a need to act on it yet. Then, Oguri appears. Since he starts out as the enemy of Poe and Ranpo, he probably views s/o as a way to throw them off his trail. If he kills or gets them injured, there's no way the pair will be able to focus and catch him. But, clearly, this fails and in some strange turn of events, Oguri is stuck in a conversation with Ranpo while he, Poe and s/o are enjoying some snack time after solving the case! It doesn't make any sense why Ranpo would want to be so friendly, but in Ranpo's mind, Oguri is a powerful asset. Let's say Ranpo and Poe are growing more desperate to have s/o to themselves, or they just want to hide them awya for a while, if they had to get rid of anyone in their way or staged a kidnapping or something, Oguri could cover it all up for them easily. If Oguri agrees, the chances are it takes a while for him to develop feelings, he's probably standoffish at first. But the first time s/o tries to escape, he realises just how attached he is, and the yandere perfect crime trio is officially established :D

when ranpo genuinely likes someone, he just clings on and never lets go. he spends a lot of time with them and since he's done this before to the few people he likes, nobody in the ada is going to even bat an eye at how you're being dragged around with him. it'll definitely come to a point where he refuses to go out and solve cases at all unless you're coming along, so the ada are more than willing to get you there. the agency depends on ranpo, after all.

for the most part, ranpo is harmless. so maybe he clings on and whines and takes up a lot of your time, but you stop caring too much—he's a close friend of yours, and it's easier to have fewer friends than a whole group of them. he's never threatened to hurt you outright, but you probably don't notice that all the cases he brings you along with him are the most gruesome murders by both ability users and non-ability users in secluded alleyways, and then he informs you that public areas like malls are becoming a hotspot for terrorist groups—you can't go to secluded locations or popular locations? so then, where can you go, you ask? simple! just hang out with ranpo, and you'll always be safe <3

after all this time, he's successfully monopolized your time and attention, but suddenly he starts coming around less and less. he's always busy with something and even goes off the grid for a while. you understand, you really do—working in the field that ranpo does earns you a lot of enemies and you're aware of how many ability groups want to bring him and the agency down, but well...

maybe you've started missing him a little.

you would have been ready to go on after he comes back from the problems with the guild, but instead, you realize ranpo has acquired a new friend, someone called poe from the guild. turns out, they knew each other 6 years ago and now they're reconnected and getting along wonderfully. it pains you, of course it does, to see him so easily replacing you with someone else, constantly inviting poe everywhere and talking to him about whatever for hours, often leaving you annoyed and hurt. what you don't know is that they're only ever talking about you.

you manage to talk to poe a lot more when ranpo is still trapped inside his book, especially while preparing for the party. you find out that he's actually nice—and his raccoon is adorable—and you can see why ranpo likes him so much. while you two are in the middle of conversing excitedly, ranpo finally makes his way into the hall, but seeing you finally begin to get to know each other, he just smiles and walks to another corner of the room. he still keeps an eye on you to make sure you don't get uncomfortable, though.

things only really change when yet another huge problem arises, some other ability group with very dangerous users starting to wreak havoc—you recall that one of the agency members had been arrested, and the thought that it might be ranpo next scared you. he insisted for you and poe to not come to the agency building as much until everything blew over, and you hesitantly accepted, fearing for his safety. poe reassured you during this time, feeling ecstatic that you were so willingly letting him stay with you. without having to go meet ranpo, the two of you had more time to do other things, and so poe, when he wasn't stuck on a manuscript, took you out to explore the city he never really had been around. when he was busy, karl would accompany you. you find out that ranpo's new friend is actually really fun to talk to! sure, he gets you uncomfortably expensive things and gets upset when you don't tell him where you're going—but ranpo reassures you that he's just worried for your safety <333

karl gets into the habit of following you around all the time, but you think it's pretty cute—there's no way poe is using him to track your location, right?

meeting oguri is a little different; one day, you're in a taxi, when suddenly a stranger barges in, scowling and muttering about some annoying detective who couldn't mind his own business. before you could even say anything, he glared at you and barked some directions at the driver. as if on cue, your phone starts ringing and you see that it's ranpo, who you hadn't heard from in a while. it seemed that the intruder saw it too because he suddenly tensed up and crossed his arms, looking on edge. ranpo's instructions to you were a little odd, but you didn't question it.

to your surprise, as you got out at the place you wanted to go, he just followed behind you. you had no idea he was trying to figure out how you were connected to ranpo, mind racing with thousands of possibilities. he stayed close by, eyeing you warily as you walked around. he had no idea what he was going to do with you, but if he could use your relationship to ranpo to threaten the detective to leave him alone, he'd gladly take the chance. considering the many ways he could use you to scare away the meddling detective, he failed to notice you walked right into a restaurant. he walked with you, blinded by the excitement of getting back at ranpo, not realizing the very person he was plotting to destroy was seated at a table already, along with another man and a raccoon...?

to oguri's bewilderment, he's asked to sit in between you and his current enemy, as though this was a perfectly ordinary meal between friends. the three others talk casually, like oguri's presence there was completely normal, and you even tried to involve him in the conversation. what was he supposed to say when you were debating where karl goes to hide when poe isn't paying attention?

despite everything, he'd be lying if he said he didn't enjoy the meal.

you're surprised when you start seeing him around more often, dragging his feet behind ranpo and poe to feign disinterest (the look in his eye when he looks at you, however, exposes his true feelings). he enjoys your company a lot more than the other two, finding you a lot more agreeable, but he realizes quickly that without poe and ranpo, it'd be impossible to keep you close.

as wonderful as the friendship sounds, there comes a day when you connect the pieces and register what they've been doing. lying to you, instilling fear in you, watching you constantly, preventing you from talking to other people, cutting off your social life—it was a heartbreaking betrayal. regardless of what you may have up your sleeve, with oguri's ability to hide any evidence of your existence or disappearance, poe's ability to literally hide you in another world and ranpo's genius (and wholehearted support from the agency), you're cornered. they're all dangerous as it is when they're alone, but together, it's impossible to trick them or run away. but hey, if you just turn a blind eye to the obvious red flags, you might even find yourself enjoying life with them...after all, they did promise to keep you safe forever <3
