thought too much about exploring the dynamics of 'high schoolers who were friends in primary school' vs 'high schoolers who went to the same primary school but only know each other vaguely' vs 'mixed-primary-school high school friend groups' vs 'kids who only moved to the area at the start of high school' in fiction and now, to my dismay, I am reluctantly and tentatively interested in writing a high school au???

peer pressure ii || lucy bronze x reader ||
Tumblr media
the aftermath of you sneaking out to go to a party.
you were pissed as you made your way to the locker room. your fists were clenched, knocking into every corner as you rounded it. most of the team had already arrived, but you had been held up by a fight with your parents. your last fight with your parents if you had anything to do with it. from the way things had been, you doubted that they'd let you back in even if you tried to come back.
"morning kiddo," frido greeted you happily. you didn't even look up at her as you made your way over to your cubby. everybody's eyes were on you, and alexia looked like she was about ready to tell you off about your attitude when frido and ingrid pulled her back. "it's okay, i can talk to her myself."
"bon dia (y/n)," patri said loudly. she made a show of speaking loud enough to make it impossible to ignore without validating a lecture from alexia. lucy smacked the back of patri's head as she walked past, stopping right in front of you.
"let's go for a walk," lucy said. she waited for you to get your boots on before she pulled you up and out of the locker room. everybody was watching the two of you, but not all with the same expression. the team had all heard about you sneaking out to the party, but not all of them knew what had actually happened. alexia seemed to be hung up on the fact that you had drank and smoked weed, even though it was all out of your system by the time that you had been tested.
"are you going to yell at me?" you asked. lucy shook her head as she led you outside of the facility. "what did you want to talk about?"
"when's the last time you went home?" lucy asked you. you shrugged, not really sure where home was anymore. it had been a few days since your parents kicked you out of the house, but you hadn't told anybody yet. all they needed to know right now was that you were fighting with your parents. "where have you been sleeping at night?"
"my car," you mumbled. lucy's eyes widened as the realization of what you said settled in. legally, you weren't allowed to drive for another two years. the fact that you had purchased a car was really just so that you would have something when your driving lessons started next year.
"did you drive it here?" lucy asked you. you nodded, suddenly feeling like you were about to get in major trouble. "when we get back inside, give me your keys. i'll have mapi or someone take it to their place. you can't drive around, especially not here! what if you got in a wreck or something?"
"i've been careful," you mumbled. lucy sighed as she put her arm around your shoulders. "i didn't know what else to do, they told me to leave, so i did. they kicked me out, lucy, and honestly, i don't want to go back. it was one party, one fucking party!"
"hey, it's okay," lucy said as she held you in her arms. you started crying, and she immediately started to soothe you. "you can stay with me, okay?"
"yeah, not like you'd take no for an answer," you chuckled. lucy hummed in agreement, glad that you weren't fighting her on this.
living with lucy proved to be the best thing for you. the stress of living with your parents was lifted off of your shoulders. they hadn't wanted you as their daughter, they wanted alexia. lucy was more than content for you to be yourself. she even went as far as to tell you whenever you'd been doing well in practice, and reassuring you whenever you had an off day. it was like night and day, as was your overall attitude.
for the first time in nearly a year, you were back to being the happy kid you had been whenever you first signed with the senior team. things were great, even if you still had a lot of tension with alexia. that wasn't something that would be fixed easily, if it ever would. other than that, everything was going great, which was why you weren't surprised when it suddenly went back again.
you had never gotten a start in an el classico match before. your teammates had warned you that real liked to play it aggressively against barcelona, so you were prepared. lucy had been taking you to the gym with her, which meant that you had really built up a lot of strength in the few months that you'd been living together. their players could knock into you all that they wanted, but it didn't do much to deter you.
"hey, there's someone in the stands waiting for you," ona said as she grabbed onto your elbow. you were scared for a moment that it would be your parents. the group of spanish players at the barrier crowded around jenni helped you to relax. your parents were nowhere in sight, and jenni sent you a questioning look. she remembered meeting your parents before, and they had been huge fans of the team, never missing a game.
"jenni!" you hopped up over the barrier and straight into her arms. she hugged you tightly, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. "i didn't know you were visiting."
"well, that would ruin the surprise. where are your parents? i wanted to say hi." jenni looked around the friends and family section. you rubbed the back of your neck awkwardly, unsure of what you should say to her. "they're usually always here."
"i wouldn't know, we don't talk anymore," you muttered under your breath. you were standing close enough to jenni for her to hear you, but alexia should have been too far away. however, you could tell by the way that her face contorted that she had definitely heard you. "i don't live there anymore."
"what!" alexia exclaimed. you backed up to put some distance between the two of you, using jenni as a human shield as you did. "since when?"
"since they kicked me out. i don't want to talk about it, especially not with you of all people," you said. there was a bite to your voice that alexia hadn't heard in quite some time. you had definitely been distant with her, but it had been a long time since you had been snappy with her like that.
"after this, let's go to dinner, okay?" jenni suggested. you nodded before you raced off to shower and get changed.
"you know that alexia only acts like an ass because she cares about you, right?" jenni asked you. she had been trying to get you to talk about what happened, but you very obviously did not want to. "where have you been staying at?"
"lucy let me move in with her," you answered. jenni was relieved that it was someone responsible. alexia was the obvious choice, but there seemed to be some tension there that definitely hadn't been the last time jenni came to visit.
"did alexia have anything to do with you getting kicked out?" jenni asked. she was afraid of the answer, already having invited alexia to dinner. technically, it had always been her, alexia, mapi, and ingrid going out, but she had to invite you when she saw you at the game.
"not directly i guess, but it was hard living there when all they wanted was for me to be just like alexia. they thought i was too focused on things outside of football, so much so that they stopped letting me go to school. by the time i left, they only ever gave me my work whenever i asked to do something else instead," you said. jenni looked pissed as her grip tightened on the steering wheel. "i know that i shouldn't be mad at alexia, but i can't help it."
"i understand," jenni told you. she leaned over as the car came to a stop to press a kiss to your cheek. "come on, everybody's waiting for us."
"is alexia there?" you didn't even really need to ask. you knew that jenni hung out with alexia every single time that she came back to spain.
"alexia, olga, ingrid, and mapi are all there. don't worry though, i won't let alexia start anything," jenni promised. you sighed and followed her into the restaurant. almost immediately, mapi pulled you into a hug, going off about how sorry she was that she didn't know anything was up before. ingrid was quick to follow suit, but alexia stayed back, unsure of whether she was welcome to hug you or not anymore.
dinner was nice, even if it was a bit awkward because of alexia's silence. the woman was usually pretty quiet, but she had never gotten quiet like she was then. jenni, ingrid, and mapi worked on distracting you from the tension, but it didn't work. finally, olga seemed to have had enough and pushed for alexia to talk to you.
"you don't have to tell me where you're staying, but are you safe and happy?" alexia asked. you nodded, smiling a little as thought about all the things lucy now did to make sure of that. you were certain that ona had a big part in a lot of the movie and game nights that you got to frequently enjoy, as well as keeping you on your school work. you'd still graduate late because of all the things your parents let you miss, but because of lucy, you hadn't fallen too terribly behind.
"lucy takes care of me, and ona reminds her to let me have fun," you said. alexia seemed to relax a little at that, a small smile gracing her face. "i won't go back to them, no matter what you or anybody else tells me. i'd quit the team and run away before i went back."
"you are being taken care of, that's what matters. just, next time that something big happens, talk to me. i need to know these things because i'm your captain, but also because i care about you too. if you're hurting or something is bothering you, i want to know so that i can help you," alexia said. you swallowed back some tears, not having felt like alexia was truly in your corner for some time. she seemed to notice this and stood up and walked around the table. "i'm sorry that i haven't been a very good friend to you."
"it's okay, i don't make it easy," you mumbled against her shoulder.
you weren't sure which of the girls had texted lucy, but she greeted you at the door with open arms. you were led straight back to her bedroom, where ona was waiting with snacks and a movie loaded up. you let the two of them cuddle you, even if lucy pretended that she didn't want to.
"dinner go okay?" lucy asked as she ran her fingers through your hair.
"it went fine. alexia and i cleared things up," you told her. you knew that was what lucy really wanted to hear about. ona let out a happy hum at your news, glad that maybe things wouldn't be so awkward later on.
"that's good, you've been very mature about this," lucy complimented. you glanced up at her, absolutely beaming. lucy chuckled and shook her head as she wiped a bit of frosting from the corner of your mouth. "now, the two of you keep it down. i'm getting some well deserved rest."
"goodnight granny," you teased. lucy swatted at you, rolling her eyes as ona started laughing.
"don't encourage her," lucy grumbled.

“But Satisfaction Brought It Back ♡˖” Dad!Fyodor w/ Child! Reader ੈ✩‧₊˚
Warnings; none
Description; Fyodor brings curious child!reader to the park, but after being essentially exiled from the playground by some randos, reader sees something moving in the grass and chooses to investigate
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/n: I'M SO SORRY THIS TOOK ME SO LONG I FEEL AWFIL, I HIPW ITS ACCEPTABLE AT LEAST </3 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE COMPLIMENTS
Headcannons;
★ Fyodor loves that you're curious, but sometimes the amount of questions you ask makes him wonder if your jaw ever gets tired from moving so much. He knows you didn't get that trait from him.
★ If you run away from him, he's walking after you at the fastest speed possible for him. He warns you not to go far because his stamina doesn't allow him to chase after you, but you still do it and it gets on his nerves a little. He knows you don't mean to, but it stresses him out like no other.
★ He often lets Nikolai tag along when he brings you to do fun stuff just in case he ends up needing the extra hand, and Nikolais ability is always great to bring you back to them.
Scenario;
You had one hand in Nikolais and one in Fyodors, happily walking along with them through a park near your home on a beautiful spring afternoon. They decided to have tea together earlier and figured it was a nice day for an outing. They picked you up and brought you to the park and sat on a bench next to one another while you ran off to climb on the playground. It didn't take long for you to socialize, immediately interacting with a girl your age. "Hey, you! Yeah, you with the blue shirt. You're not allowed up here, you don't have the password." You looked at the girl with confusion, grimacing and crossing your arms. "Well it's not your playground, I'm allowed up here if I want to! My papa brought me to play and that's what I'm gonna do." You reply, your eyebrows furrowed and a visible pout on your face.
"That's too bad! Scurry along, you peasant!" She sneered. It made you want to cry a little, but you bit your lip and stormed off. A small group of kids who seemed to be apart of her posse watched. You huffed and went to sit with your papa and uncle, plopping down on the bench. Fyodor and Nikolai instantly picked up on your sad demeanor. "Aw, what's wrong, Malyshka? Are you alright?" He asked, a hand rubbing your back sweetly. You nodde d and leaned into him, making him frown. "C'mon, kiddo, I'll play with ya if you'd like! We're those other brats mean to you?" He asks, bending down to your level. You shook your head and rubbed the oncoming tears out of your eyes. "No, they weren't..I'll go play again in a second, I just fell." Nikolai stands back up and rubs your head. "Alright, if that's what you'd like." He returns to Fyodors side, resuming their conversation. Fyodors comforting hand remained on your shouder for awhile before you decided to get back up. "M'going to play again, papa." You declared, humbly walking back over to the playground and settling for the swings. You sat down and started swinging your legs back and forth, watching the nature around you. You weren't too high in the air before you saw a something moving through the grass across the park. You dragged your feet to come to a halt and walked away from the swing set.
The closer you got, you could tell that the moving thing was actually a large, brown rabbit. Your eyes widened with excitement and you approached it further, following it through a patch of brush. The rabbit noticed you and jumped further into the woods, over logs and rocks. You followed it continuously, stumbling over the aforementioned obstacles trying to reach it. It was about this time where Fyodor noticed that the swing was sitting nearly perfectly still without you on it and his eyes immediately darted around the playground. When he couldn't find you, he called out your name, drawing the attention of the attention of the other kids. "I think I saw someone go down there." The girl from earlier pointed towards the woods. Fyodor cursed under his breath and made his way towards the forest as quickly as possible with Nikolai. "Y/n! Come back here!" He called out for you, worried and annoyed all at once. You had successfully pounced on the bunny, holding it in your arms and heading towards Nikolai and your papa again. You had now been satisfied in catching the rodent, an innocent expression on your face when your papa came into view. The rabbit was squirming in your grasp, but you held him out to your father.
"Papa, Uncle Nikolai, look what I caught!" Fyodor let's out a sigh of relief but places a hand on your back and guides you back to the playground. "Let that filthy animal go, sweetheart, it's probably diseased, and you cannot keep running off like that! I was worried sick, don't do that ever again." He says, a hand over his heart. You reluctantly let the rabbit go, turning to watch it dash off. "I'm sorry papa.." you mumble, grabbing at his cape. He sighs. "It's not fine, but I'm more happy that I found you than I am angry at you." He says, Nikolai nods in agreement. You sigh in relief and go to sit down on the bench, but Fyodor pulls you right back up by your shirt, like a kitten by the scruff. "No, you're going home to wash those rodent germs off of your hands, and then you're gonna pick up your bedroom while your at it." He says. You groan and accept the light punishment he gave. "Yes papa..." You weren't to upset about it all in all, because he could have been harsher on you, especially since you've repeatedly done this, but instead he only wanted you to clean your room; leaving the park and those mean kids behind isnt a loss in the slightest.
Tumblr media
A/n; again I'm so sorry if this is bad, I feel horrible for it being so late but I'm locking in on my reqs now yall istg

Guessing game: Farm
Context: a familial soulmates AU is happening to newly-decanted baby clone "Superman" and Ma and Pa "it's free alien baby" Kent.
The waitress comes back with the drinks and asks if they're ready to order, and then they have to actually read the menu. She leaves them to it. The Zesti does taste really good, but Superman has a hard time concentrating on the menu and barely resists the urge to glance up at Jonathan and Martha every five seconds.
"Oh, wait–can you read yet, kiddo, or do you need some help with that?" Jonathan asks with a faint frown as he glances up at him himself, and somehow the question doesn't sound judgmental at all.
Weird, Superman thinks again.
"Yeah," he says. "Um–Cadmus was educating me with information uploads. I didn't finish them, but I can read and write and do, like . . . well, some math, anyway. I got through trig and precalc, mostly. Uh, and some chemistry and biology. And, like, I can speak English and Spanish and a little Mandarin, and I know basic ASL. I don't think I'm actually as smart as they thought I was gonna be, though, some of it's kinda . . . confusing, to be honest? And they only ever showed me stuff once, I think they just thought I'd . . . you know, get it."
"You're two weeks old!" Martha says with an exasperated huff. "Those damn morons, you're gonna need a lot more than two weeks' worth of yellow sun before you're going to get the eidetic memory or the enhanced intelligence."
"The–what?" Superman blinks. Jonathan and Martha glance at each other, oddly, and then back to him.
"Superman had perfect recall," Jonathan says. "Hyperthymesia. A photographic memory, you might call it."
"Oh," Superman says, blinking again. "Uh–I didn't know that."
"I don't know how much most people ever thought about it, so far as his powers went," Jonathan says with a shrug. "Not quite as flashy as the heat vision or the flying. Actually it's a surprise you can fly this quick, come to think."
"I'm sort of . . . cheating," Superman mutters, ducking his head. "My Kryptonian physiology isn't developed enough to give me the real powers yet and they didn't know how long it might take for them to come in, so they sort of . . . there's like this . . . field, kind of, that the original Superman put off? Subconscious telekinesis, I guess. Skin-tight force field, basically. It's why bullets weren't ripping up his suit all the time and why he could, like, pick up a whole freaking bus or whatever one-handed and it wouldn't just break in half from the fucked-up–uh, the messed-up support. The field would just wrap around whatever he was touching and reflexively keep it together. So Cadmus just kinda . . . copied that and cranked it up to eleven, for me. So I'm telekinetic, kind of?"
"Huh," Martha says, looking a little puzzled. "You know, that never even occurred to me, but it certainly explains a few things."
"It only works when I'm touching something," Superman says, fidgeting uncomfortably and feeling kind of like . . . well, he guesses his powers not being the same as the original Superman's were yet isn't gonna disappoint the Kents, right? Like, why would they care? "It's tactile-based. But I can always use it on myself. So I can fly and pick up real heavy shit and hit like I've got super-strength and make it look like I'm invulnerable. No heat vision or ice breath or X-ray vision or, uh, eidetic memory, though. Or super-speed or super-senses."
And definitely, definitely no enhanced intelligence.
"So you mean you're going to be stronger than Superman was?" Martha asks with a little frown, and Superman . . . blinks.
"Uh . . . I don't think so?" he says uncertainly, not sure where she got that idea. "I don't know how the hybridization of my DNA will affect, like . . . any of the Kryptonian powers. They might turn out weaker than his were, since my genes are sort of already adapted for a yellow sun."
"I don't know, being primed to process yellow sunlight might make your powers end up stronger, on that logic," Jonathan points out reasonably. "Once you grow into them a bit, anyway. And either way you'll have the telekinesis enhancing your strength and invulnerability, and that might get stronger too. And, well, at least some hybrids have a tendency to turn out bigger and stronger than their parent species."
Superman tilts his head. Blinks a couple times.
"Huh," he says.
Well, there's a really freaking cool and absolutely fucking terrifying thought.
"How do you know all that?" he asks. "Are you a biologist or something?"
"I'm a farmer, son," Jonathan says wryly. "I'm talking about mules and wolfdogs."
"You're a farmer?" Superman repeats in absolute bemusement.
"We both are, dear," Martha says. "All our lives. We live out in Smallville, actually, we're just here visiting . . . well. Clark's fiancée. Her name is Lois."
"Where's Smallville?" Superman asks, still bemused.
"Kansas," Martha says. "We have a little farm out there. And . . . well, we'd very much like to take you in, obviously, though I don't know where you're staying right now."
"Just, like–wherever, right now," Superman says awkwardly, trying not to sound as pathetic as he's pretty sure he does even as he wonders how that's supposed to be "obvious". He's not, like, a little kid or anything. It's not like he can't take care of himself. "Like, it's not really . . . just wherever."
Jonathan and Martha glance at each other. Superman feels embarrassed. It's not like it matters where he's staying, and like, he'll find a place, eventually, just . . . he hasn't quite figured out how to do that yet. That's all.
Cadmus, unfortunately, did not prepare him to ever live . . . well. Outside of Cadmus.
"Would you like to visit, at least? Take a look around?" Jonathan offers. "It's not too far a flight from Metropolis."
"Um . . . maybe," Superman says, really not sure what he'd ever do on a farm of all places. Like, in what way is a farm a "Superman" kind of place to be?
Though he guesses it'd be politer than making Jonathan and Martha come to Metropolis. And if they actually . . . if they really want to see him . . .
He could swing by sometimes, that's all. He guesses he'd have to be careful about doing it because probably the Kents aren't gonna want anybody to know they're his soulmates, given the whole "being civilians" thing. Maybe he can just . . . just pretend to be . . . he doesn't know, exactly? Just–maybe some random distant relative or something. Maybe they have some cousins or whatever. Or just . . . something.
Superman actually has no idea how many people hang out with their extended family members like that, to be honest, but it's the best idea he's coming up with right now.

Family Trip To Hell (Diyu)
Shadowpeach Family AU chapter 7
Summary: Wukong, Liu'er and Ma go to the underworld to get their kiddos names out of the book of the dead. Wukong's mom has a long overdue talk with her son.
Word count: 5.1k
Warnings: Wukong and Macaque's past(mostly Wukong's tho), mentions of death(they're in the underworld), mentions of murder, implications of destructive tendencies,
A/N: There is a very minor OC here, he is a Diyu registrant/receptionist, so I've decided to call him Zhù Cè Rén which means registrant according to the translator I've been using. He and Liu'er are buds so Liu'er calls him Zhù Cè which is to register and that's why his name is that. His name is his job.
Yuze(Wukong and Ma's mom)
Shadowpeach Family AU Masterpost
____________________________________________________________________________________________
“Boring! This is the most boring way into the Diyu!” Wukong whined.
This entrance of the Diyu was pretty dull and mildly depressing. All the cool stuff was at another level. For their business today, they didn't need to go too far into the Diyu. Liu'er had insisted on not pissing off the underworld gods, again, so they were going the boring way.
“This place is depressing.” Ma commented, looking around at the large, cave-like passage they were using.
Unlike either of them, Ma had (luckily) never been to the Diyu before.
“It's the underworld, it's not supposed to be very fun.” Liu'er pointed out.
“Eh, guess so.” The albino monkey shrugged, adjusting her grip on Xuěhuā.
They walked for a few minutes longer, following behind Liu'er, they passed another set of guards checking for the living, his mate had a quick chat with the guards, who like all the others were happy to see him again, before they were allowed through.
A little further down, the passage opened up into a larger cavern. There was what looked like a desk carved out of the wall and a demon sitting at it, doing whatever it was underworld demons did when they weren't dealing with souls.
“Zhù Cè!” Liu'er called out, waving to his friend.
The demon glanced over and blinked a few times before scrambling to his feet to greet the shadow monkey.
“Liu'er! I haven't seen you down here in over a century! I was starting to think something happened to you!” The underworld attendant said excitedly.
“I've been a little busy. I thought I told you and yuè mǔ when I was last down here.” Liu'er said, lifting Chao-Xing out of his arms.
The little cub giggled at the sudden uppies. Zhù Cè stared at her with a scrunched up face.
“How in here did you two manage to make something so cute?” he asked, letting the cub grab one of his fingers in her little hands.
“Hey!” Wukong objected.
“No, no, I was wondering that too.” Ma said.
He glared over his shoulder at his annoying older sister. His daughter’s giggles brought his attention back to his mate and their child. Chao-Xing was playing with some squishy ball toy Zhù Cè had on his desk that she somehow got her little hands on.
The demon was staring at the playing baby monkey with more scrutiny than before. He pulled a pair of glasses out of his pocket, leaning closer to the infant.
“Zhù Cè…? What are you doing?” Liu'er asked, slightly leaning away.
“Oh… this is exciting!” Zhù Cè exclaimed, scrambling to write something down in the notebook Liu'er said he always had on him.
“What is exciting?” Wukong asked.
“That is a brand new soul!” Zhù Cè pointed at Chao-Xing.
“We haven't seen one of those in over a thousand years! … Odd that it's just the one, these usually happen in groups… oh! But you two made this one, it's impressive that you made this one, new souls are hard to create and maintain to term-”
“Hang on, can you back up a bit to the whole “brand new soul” part?” Liu'er said.
Yeah, what the actual fuck does that mean?!” Wukong agreed.
The demon shrunk back, searching his desk for something. His dark eyes lit up when he got whatever he was looking for. A heavily used scroll.
“Let's see here … ah- there it is. Celestial monkeys, you two, exist outside of the natural order, your creation doesn't happen the natural way. You don't have past lives, these are the first incarnations your souls have had,” he paused, gesturing towards the now bored infant chewing on Liu'er’s fur, “she's just like you, she doesn't have a past life, she's a new soul.”
Wukong glanced down at his daughter, the cub met his gaze with a cheerful chirp for snacks and cuddles. Liu'er passed her back without much fuss, he settled the little monkey in his arms. Considering how they made her, the new soul idea made sense.
“Does the new soul thing have any negative side effects?” Liu'er asked, masking his worry with a sense of curiosity in his voice.
“Nope. If anything, she's better off than the normal souls, she won't have any of the déjà vu they sometimes get from their past lives cause it doesn't exist for her.” Zhù Cè shrugged, setting his scroll back on his desk.
Wukong's ear flicked, Ma was cutting up a pear for Xuěhuā; the pair of albinos must have gotten bored with all the soul talk that didn't concern them.
“It's no wonder it took you a century to have a kid, new souls are hard to make.” Zhù Cè was saying.
“Really?” He asked, zeroing in on the demon.
The attendant shifted under his gaze.
“Yeah, if you didn't know how to do it right, it wouldn't work, no matter how hard you tried.” He said.
And here he was, thinking the problem had been them all along, turns out the problem was their species.
“That's all very nice, Zhù Cè, but be a dear and step aside. I'd like to talk with my son.”
The voice of Wukong's (recent) nightmares echoed throughout the cavern.
A monkey demon appeared in front of the Kings with crossed arms and a thoroughly pissed expression.
“Oh you are absolutely fucked.” Liu'er whispered.
“Not helping.” Wukong whispered back.
Yuze glared up at her son, scathing green eyes burning his skin as she examined him. She definitely wasn't pleased.
“Mā.” Wukong greeted nervously.
“Shí Hóu.” She growled.
“Yeah, you're so dead.” Ma commented.
Wukong glared at his sister, who cracked up behind him. Yuze growled a low warning, snapping her son's attention back to her.
“Do you have anything to say for yourself?” She prompted.
“Uh, we had a baby?” Wukong tried, holding Chao-Xing out for his mother to see.
The dull brown and gray monkey glanced down at the cub, happily chewing on her own tail completely oblivious to the tension.
“Cute. You're not getting out of this.” she said.
“I'll just take that from you.” Liu'er took Chao-Xing out of his doomed mate’s hands.
“You are in so much trouble, mister.” She growled.
Yuze grabbed him by his ear, dragging him further along the cavern. He heard Liu'er snickering from behind, and while he knew this was deserved, he couldn't stop himself from shouting,
“Hey! You did a lot of shit too! Why isn't she mad at you?!”
“She already talked to me about all of that. And I visit at least once a decade!” Liu'er shouted back.
Wukong reluctantly let his mother drag him to his doom. She took him further down the path, to a distance where her inevitable shouting wouldn't bother the cubs. No doubt Liu'er would hear every second of it.
Yuze finally stopped and turned around to face him. He winced at the anger in her eyes. She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose as she shook her head.
“You've done a lot of shit, Shí Hóu, I don't have the time or patience to cover everything. Just the big ones, alright?” She said, resting a gentle hand on his shoulder.
“You're not shouting?” He asked in surprised confusion.
He'd been certain his mother would scream and shout, he was so sure she would be furious, that's why he avoided her for so long.
“I thought you were-”
“Shí Hóu, I was, and still am, but shouting won't get us anywhere. Let's just talk, okay?” She gave him a soft, understanding smile.
Tears stung his eyes. Over the centuries he forgot how understanding his mother could be.
“Talking sounds good.” He nodded.
She smiled before gently pushing him down.
“Get down there so I can see you properly.” She instructed.
Once he was sitting, she flicked his hair around with her tail, laughing not so quietly as she paced in front of him.
“Where do you want to start?” He asked nervously.
She paused, her tail tip twitched.
“That lion and his brotherhood.” she growled.
Wukong flinched, his old brotherhood was a sore subject for everyone involved, most recently with the whole DBK situation. Liu'er had never much cared for (or trusted) any of the others during their days as a brotherhood, he'd gotten closer with DBK after, mostly due to his relationship with Princess Iron Fan, and with what the others did, Wukong was perfectly fine with never discussing them again.
“What was the deal with him? Was he really able to convince you of his short sighted delusions that easily?” She asked, looking down at him with something akin to pity.
Wukong shifted under her intense gaze. Looking back, he wanted to strangle his younger self for trusting that liar. He wanted to strangle his younger self for a lot of things actually.
“I thought I could trust him, it was a stupid decision and I really should have seen the signs sooner, but I guess I just ignored them because I liked the way he made me feel.” he admitted slowly.
“Did you find what you were looking for?” She asked.
“I… not with them… not for a while…” he answered.
“And what were you looking for?” she pressed gently.
Wukong didn't want to say it out loud, he knew in his gut she wouldn't be offended, it still felt like a betrayal.
“… help…”
That was the simplest way he could put it. He knew she was well aware of what he was trying to find back then.
“Even when you already had it?” She pointed out.
He winced, she gave him a more stern look.
“You have a bad habit of trying to deal with things yourself, xiǎo guǐ.” she told him.
“Yeah… I know.” He sighed.
“Then why haven't you stopped?” She asked.
He looked up, about to rebut her statement
“Don't say you have, you stayed up on the mountain for three years dealing with a death by yourself, Mihou doesn't count, he had to go through the same shit. You didn't go to anyone about it, you still haven't.” she swiftly cut him off with a sharp stare.
“Back to the point, why did you listen to him over everyone else? Mihou hears the future, his abilities weren't as well developed back then but they still gave him an idea of what would happen, yet you ignored his warnings. I know you were arrogant and headstrong and didn't think about consequences, but that seems pretty extreme for you, you used to always listen to what Mihou said,” she paused and shot him a questioning look, “unless you were worse than I thought you were after I died?”
Wukong gave his mother a sheepish grin.
“Of course.” Yuze sighed heavily, rubbing her face.
“I'd ask where I went wrong, but I know where I went wrong.” She muttered to herself.
“Well, is that the only reason, or is there something else?” She said.
“He was saying what I wanted to hear… what I thought I needed to hear… it was pretty stupid in hindsight.” He said with a weak chuckle.
“Táo huā, everything looks different in hindsight.” She said lightly.
His chest warmed at her words.
“I’m glad you dealt with them, the elephant can be released someday, but the other two can stay in there for eternity for all I care.” She said.
“I couldn't agree more.” He nodded.
There was an awkward (to him at least) lull in the conversation.
“The eyes are new.” She said finally, gesturing to his face.
“Oh, uh, yeah… they've been like that for a while.” He scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
“I know.” She nodded before letting out another heavy sigh.
“Shí Hóu, we need to talk about what happened on your journey.”
“Mihou and I-”
She raised a single hand.
“You killed your mate. You killed your best friend. We need to talk about that.” She insisted.
“It's one of the reasons you've been avoiding me.” she added, crossing her arms.
Wukong shrunk away from her knowing gaze.
“Take your glamor down, I bet your hair's a mess.” She instructed.
He would have argued, but she was one hundred percent correct. His hair was a mess, Chao-Xing had decided to climb onto his head on the way here and chew his hair, she was definitely developing a chewing habit.
She sat down behind him, running her skilled fingers through his hair, eliciting fond memories from simpler times when he and his mother would talk about anything and nothing for hours on warm, sunny afternoons.
“I was confused when he showed up dead again, and when he told me what happened… I was… angry to say the least.”
“Now, I know what happened and why it happened, I know that it was a mistake, for both of you…” she trailed off, he felt her claws working through a tough knot.
“But! Just because I understand doesn't mean I'm not still just a little bit disappointed in the both of you. I thought I taught you better.” She finished, moving onto another knot.
“It broke him, you know that? Sure he was partially responsible for it, but never in his life did he think you would kill him, even if it was an accident.”
“He was so hurt when I first saw him, so hurt. He got angry later, but under all that anger and bitterness was a pain he didn't know what to do with.”
“He returned to life lost and broken. He had no idea what to do with himself, and while I suppose he ultimately went down a better path, he very easily could have gone the other way.” She told him somberly.
His mother fell quiet, working on his fur, Wukong finally found it in himself to ask her something.
“Do you know what happened after he came back? He's frustratingly vague about it whenever I ask.” He asked.
“Hmmm… nope!” She chirped smugly, popping the ‘p’.
“You do know!” He shouted, glaring over his shoulder at her.
She laughed, tossing her head back.
“It's not my story to tell Shí Hóu.” She said.
He huffed and turned around grumpily.
“I'm sure you'll find out soon, he's just saving it for some prank.” She patted his shoulder gently.
“You know that you've both been lucky so far, right?” She prompted a few minutes later.
“Hmm?”
“You worked through that issue, it took you ages and you dragged poor Chenxiang into it, but it's done now. So what are you going to do about the others you have? Or others you will encounter later?” She said, finally working out all the knots in his hair.
“What other issues?” He asked, glancing back at her.
“The business with Demon Bull King? Mihou was pretty upset when he told me about that.” Yuze pointed out.
“Oh.” She knows about that. He guiltily looked away from his mother's sharp green eyes.
“That's another thing I wanted to talk about.” she said, running her hands through his groomed hair, gently pulling and twisting it back into a braid.
“I didn't want him to die…” he admitted.
“Can you explain it?” She requested gently.
“He wasn't stopping, he was hurting innocent people, if he didn't stop they were going to do something about it… so it was either kill him or make him stop some other way!” He shouted
“… and he wouldn't listen to reason…” he finished.
“Reason means little in the face of emotion. You should know that by now.” She scolded lightly.
“I- uh- yeah, I should.” He relented.
“Oh little Shí Hóu, you still have no idea how to communicate.” She sighed fondly.
He huffed at her statement, slightly offended. He could communicate just fine!
“Here’s what you do, when he gets out, and I bet it's going to be soon, you need to have a talk with your brother. Explain your actions and motivations, then listen when he tells you his.” She told him.
“I'll give it a shot.” He said reluctantly.
DBK was unlikely to forgive him for what he did, he could have, should have, done something else. That way Princess Iron Fan wouldn't have had to defend her territory and raise her son all on her own, his former brother could have seen his son grow up, and Wukong took that from him. Gods, why didn't I do something else!
“Get out of your head, Táo huā.” Yuze snapped calmly.
He glanced at her, she raised an eyebrow in amusement.
“I'm still your mother, even if it's been over a thousand years, I know what you look like when you're lost in your thoughts.” She said, tucking a flower she got from… somewhere, into his now braided hair.
“Now, how are you and Mihou going to handle this going forward?” She prompted.
What do you mean?” Wukong turned around to face her.
“Are you going to tell your daughter?” She asked.
“Yes…?” He said uncertainly, praying she wouldn't elaborate.
“The truth, will you tell her the truth?” she specified, narrowing her eyes.
He coughed, he'd been hoping she wouldn't ask that.
“About what?” he asked, feigning ignorance.
Yuze swatted the side of his head.
“All of it, what you two did to each other, what you did to your brother. Are you going to tell her the truth about you?” She almost growled out.
Mango and I haven't even talked about this with each other yet… how the here am I supposed to answer that? He avoided his mother's all too knowing gaze.
“She has Mihou's ears, what will you do when she hears something you haven't told her about yet?”
“They don't seem to work the way his do, maybe they just look the same.” He suggested.
She glared at him. Yeah okay that wasn't the best suggestion, and Liu'er suspected that she would grow into her hearing.
“Are you even going to tell her at all?” Yuze growled.
“I don't know when we'll tell her!” He shouted.
“Once she's old enough to understand for sure, but we will tell her! Eventually.” Wukong insisted.
Yuze rested a gentle hand on his shoulder.
“It is better if you tell her sooner rather than lie to her longer.” She said knowingly.
“Are you going to say anything?” He asked hesitantly.
“I may not agree with your decision but I will respect it. Besides, it is not my story to tell.” she said.
Wukong let out a sigh of relief.
“But if she comes asking, and you haven't told her yet, I won't lie to her.” Yuze warned.
He nodded in understanding. She smiled, satisfied enough to drop the subject, for now.
“Let's head back, I've got grandkids to meet.” She said, fluffing up the top of his head as she stood.
He followed her up.
“Nuwa wants to know when you'll visit.” Yuze said out of the blue.
Wukong hummed in response. His relationship with his… creator… wasn't the best, not by a long shot.
The goddess never had anything to do with him. It had been easy enough to think that was just because Yuze had taken him as her own when he was younger and didn't know any better. But no! Nuwa had never gotten involved in his life at all, not even when he went to the celestial realm. She never paid any attention to him, never showed him anything but apathetic disinterest.
She didn't care.
That's what he thought for most of his life anyway, the truth wasn't much better.
She didn't think she needed to do any of that.
She hadn't thought she needed to take any action because by the time she realized he existed, Yuze had already taken him as hers and in her opinion, Yuze was doing a better job than she ever could, so she just didn't do anything!
The irony of a Mother Goddess being such a shit parent to her creation was laughable.
“Can’t wait to deal with that.” He grumbled.
Yuze swatted the back of his head.
“Nuwa fucked up, everyone, including her, can agree on that. She thought it was for the best and she was wrong. The important thing is that she realizes and admits she's wrong and she's trying to be better.” Yuze scolded him.
Wukong huffed and rolled his eyes.
“Give it a chance, it's not like you won't be fucking up with your own kid.” She told him.
“Wait, do you think I'm going to mess up that badly?” He asked, dread making his fur puff up.
He already had his doubts, his past experiences with teaching someone hadn’t gone well, if he was that bad of a teacher how bad of a parent would he be?
“Every parent messes up a little bit, mistakes are part of parenting.” She said.
“Really, how did you mess up?” He snapped.
She raised a challenging eyebrow at him, he immediately regretted his question.
“I didn't teach you murder was wrong. Because I didn't think I had to.” she said smugly.
“fuck.” He pouted.
She laughed, tossing her head back, as they finally got back to the main cave.
Wukong stepped to the side to avoid being knocked over by the blur of white slamming into his mother.
“Ma! How have you been, xiǎo guǐ?” Yuze chuckled, hugging her daughter.
Wukong gave his mother and sister some privacy, heading over to where Liu'er was sitting with the cubs.
Xuěhuā was squinting in the direction their mother went, undoubtedly only seeing a fuzzy patch of white in the darkness, while Chao-Xing was chewing her cousin's tail, because they obviously weren't using it.
She stopped using her cousin as a chew toy when she realized he was back. His little cub squealed, reaching her adorable little hands out for him. Chuckling, he let her grab onto one of his fingers.
Unsurprisingly, she started biting it.
“We have got to work on her biting habit.” He said to Liu'er once he sat down.
His moon nodded.
“One of these days she's going to try eating her own ears.” He sighed.
Liu'er's ears were covered in teeny tiny bite marks from their curious cub giving the glowing ears a little nibble whenever she was near them. She didn't have the strength to hurt anyone yet, and when one of them said “ouch” she'd stop and lick the spot she was just biting in a little apology.
It was one of the cutest fucking things he'd ever seen.
“Where'd Zhù Cè go?” Wukong asked, noticing the underworld demon's absence.
“Oh, he had to take care of something, got an urgent message from his boss. He said he'd be back soon.” Liu'er said.
Wukong felt the fur on the back of his neck standing up. He had a gut feeling there was some sort of trouble brewing. A quick glance at his mate showed he had the same feeling.
“We'll talk about it later, if it's not solved. He whispered as Ma and Yuze came back to them.
“If what's not solved?” Ma asked.
“Underworld business. Zhù Cè had to leave.” Liu'er answered easily.
His mother narrowed her eyes skeptically, but didn't make any comment about it. Instead she sat down and flicked her tails towards the pair of cubs.
“Now, who are these cute little cubs?” She asked.
Ma picked up her cub, bringing her closer to their mom.
“This is Xuěhuā, they can't see shit and refuses to wear glasses.” Ma said, setting the toddler cub into Yuze's arms.
The mostly blind cub blinked their pale eyes cluelessly at the strange monkey.
“Who you?” they asked.
“I'm your grandmother.” Yuze said.
“Mama's Mama?” They inquired.
“Yes, that's me.” She answered.
“You smell good. I like you.” Xuěhuā chirped, happily cuddling up to her.
“Well, I'm so glad I smell good.” Yuze chuckled.
“Yeah, smell like a baby! Sweet!” Xuěhuā nodded aggressively.
“Like a baby? No that can't be right, babies are stinky.” Yuze shook her head.
“I can prove!” Xuěhuā insisted.
They scrambled out of their grandmother's hands, scurrying over to Chao-Xing sitting on his lap.
“Can I borrow?” Xuěhuā asked him.
He glanced at Liu'er, his moon nodded, a soft smile on his face at the toddler's antics.
“Sure thing kiddo.” He allowed.
Xuěhuā squealed, happily taking Chao-Xing out of his lap. The smaller cub let out a confused squeak as she was carried over to the brown and gray monkey.
“Here! Smell!” Xuěhuā demanded, shoving their cousin into Yuze's face.
Chao-Xing gave them the angriest baby face she could muster up.
“Hmm, this baby doesn't smell like a baby, she smells like fruit.” Yuze said.
“That's all uncles feed her!”
“hmm… I think this baby is made of fruit.” Yuze concluded.
“No! She's not fruit!” Xuěhuā giggled.
“Here! You check!” The albino toddler just dropped his cub.
He swore he had a heart attack.
Nothing happened, Yuze had her hands underneath Chao-Xing the entire time in case Xuěhuā slipped.
“Xuěhuā, you can't drop the baby.” Ma scolded lightly.
“Okay.” Xuěhuā turned back to Yuze.
“She's not fruit.” Xuěhuā stated confidently.
“I guess not.” Yuze conceded to the cub.
“Oh! She's got two tails! And glowies! I like glowies!” Xuěhuā chirped.
“I bet she's much easier to find.” Yuze agreed, frowning slightly at the cub in her hands.
“How old is she?” She asked.
Wukong's tail twitched anxiously.
“About six months.” He said.
“She's a bit small, does she eat enough?” She inquired, her fur puffing slightly.
“She's got Wukong's appetite.” Liu'er snorted.
“Ah, well all cubs grow differently, some slower than others.” She said.
“What's this little one's name?” she asked.
“Sun Chao-Xing.” His moon said proudly.
“How long of a fight was that one?” Yuze snickered.
“They fought for about a decade.” Ma said.
Wukong stuck his tongue out at his sister.
“I'd expect nothing less.” His mother laughed.
They spent another hour or so talking more until Zhù Cè finally came back, with the king of the underworld himself in tow.
King Yama had the Book of the Dead and miffed expression on his face.
“Sun Wukong, you are permitted to remove the names of your child and your sister's child, no others.” Do you understand?” The king growled.
Before he could even say anything to the underworld king, his mother grabbed him by his ear, yanking him towards her.
“Don't try anything.” She warned with a growl.
“I won't! I promise!” he squealed, absolutely embarrassing himself in front of the present company.
Yuze released him. He rubbed his sore ear. The underworld king had a barely concealed smirk on his face.
“I understand.” He nodded.
“Very well, the pages have been marked in advance.” King Yama said, opening the book.
Wukong took Xuěhuā’s name off first, then Chao-Xing’s. He didn't get to take much of a look at the page once he crossed his daughter's out, Yama shut it before he could get a good look.
“Your business is finished here. Please get out of my domain.” King Yama ordered somewhat politely.
Liu'er snickered. Wukong knew Yama had a pretty good reason for not wanting him down here, the last time he was here he wrecked a lot of important stuff looking for answers, but that didn't mean he wasn't a bit offended by it. Yuze grabbed his arm.
“Yes, you're on your way out now, I'll see you to the exit.” She said, glaring at him pointedly.
He rolled his eyes, it's not like he had any reason to cause trouble this time. Liu'er said goodbye to Zhù Cè, Wukong noticed the demon was considerably more nervous than he had been before.
Maybe Yama’s mad he wasn't doing his job. He thought.
He and Liu'er walked ahead of his mother and sister, they were talking about ways to see each other more frequently, apparently his mother had a few favors with Nuwa she could cash in.
The only good thing he could say about his creator is that it certainly looked like she was trying.
They reached the entrance to the Diyu pretty quickly, Liu'er was wished goodbye and good luck by everyone they passed.
“Don't let the little ones test their immortality too much.” His mother warned lightheartedly, playfully flicking each cub's fur up with her tail.
“We won't.” Ma said, hugging their mother.
“We leaving nǎi nai?” Xuěhuā asked sadly.
“Cheer up bèi, you'll see me again.” Yuze told the cub.
“Okay Nǎi nai! Bye!” Xuěhuā chirped, waving their hand excitedly as Ma stepped through to the other side.
“You two be careful with that little one there okay?” Yuze said.
“Of course Mā.” Liu'er nodded to her.
“And don't smother her either.” She added.
“We won't.” Wukong laughed.
“I expect to see you again before she turns two.” She said, giving them both a tight hug.
She had to stand on her toes to reach them properly.
“You both got too tall.” She huffed.
They all laughed.
“Well, you better not keep Ma waiting.” Yuze said.
“Right, see you soon.” Wukong said.
Yuze watched her son and son in law leave the Diyu. She turned, heading back into the Diyu.
The realm’s King was beyond her reach, he didn't like her much anyway. Zhù Cè was helpfully scared of crossing her, he had let her know when her son arrived.
The registrant paled once he saw her.
“Zhù Cè, what's going on down here?” She asked.
“I'm afraid I can't tell you that.” He admitted.
She glared at him.
“Is it going to be a problem?” She prompted.
“No…” he glanced away.
“Is it a problem for my family?” She hissed.
“I'm really very sorry, but I can't tell you.” Zhù Cè insisted.
She growled.
“It is none of your concern regardless.” King Yama said from behind her.
She glared over her shoulder.
“I think it's time you returned to your mistress, monkey.” He sneered.
“You know, I'm glad I don't have to be stuck here.” She snarled, baring her fangs at the King as she left the underworld.
Nuwa glanced up once she returned.
“How'd it go?” the Mother Goddess asked nervously.
“Yama is an asshole.” She growled.
“Something happened in the Diyu while we were down there. He doesn't want anyone to know what it is.” She crossed her arms with a sigh.
“Think it means trouble?” She glanced at the goddess.
“It's not anything good, that's certain.” Nuwa sighed.
Yuze watched her friend carefully, she had been acting differently for the last three years. Something weighed heavily on her mind.
“I got to meet the little one.” She said, changing to a lighter subject.
“What's she like?!” Nuwa asked excitedly.
Yuze smiled, happy to spend the rest of the day gushing about their granddaughter and her grandchild.

a fate worse than getting a call from the county jail
twin au where danny is put on trial in the ghost zone but since the ghost zone's judicial system is a mess they call for a character witness from various periods of his life bc he's still technically living
(a word about the court proceedings. due to the fact that i know next to nothing abt real court and i don't want to do research for a prompt i have no time to write, the entire trial is going to be on some ace attorney bullshit.)
damian gets ghost jury duty (i know it's not jury duty but that was too funny not to write)
as it turns out, getting the news that your brothers ghost is still around from a glowing green figure that materialized in your dining room is not a great way to get news. if you want to start the trial right away, damian is whisked off in his pjs. if he gets some time, it takes place that night. still, it's not a lot of time to process that you're about to see your dead brother who is apparently a criminal.
well dannys always technically been a criminal. murder is very much illegal no matter what age you are.
damian isn't allowed to know what the charges are bc it may influence how he recounts the testimony. this does not bode well to damian.
danny on the other hand does NOT know that damian is even going to be there. so the first time they lock eyes across the court room danny is a complete mess.
but guess what's an even bigger mess? the fact that the last time the twins saw each other they were literal baby assassins.
the character witness doesn't help in the slightest. if anything it goes even worse (but for who?)
damian gets to bond with the ghosts of the far frozen during the recess.
WAIT IS FROSTBITE DANNYS LAWYER?? if so i will only be putting him in more elaborate robes, no matter how funny the idea of him in a suit and tie is. non western traditional garb is professional and i will not fall into that pit.
ANYWAYS
frostbite is dannys lawyer but he's kinda bad at it,,, (the far frozens court system is a lot more straight forward)
he's basically the pheonix wright of the courtroom. he's gonna get the job done but by god is he gonna make some mistakes.
damian is going to have to be his maya or smth. damian is reading the court files (which are horribly put together who wrote this shit??) to try and help frostbite put a case together and???? WTF HAS HIS BROTHER BEEN DOING WITH HIS AFTERLIFE
to those wondering where the rest of the trio are, they weren't allowed to know where the trial is taking place due to their history of helping danny break out of prison. this doesn't stop them from trying to break him out. or stop them from getting help 👀👀
that's right kiddos, they go to gotham. not for the bats, but to figure out why one of the waynes is at one of the most prolific ghost trials in centuries (dannys gone around the block at this point. people are curious to see the verdict, if any)
kitty and jazz are friends so kitty let's slip what's going on and who exactly showed up.
('why the hell is damian wayne there?!')
that's all i have for right now, kinda fond of it so i may write smth short for it.
probably not so go wild with it. anyone is welcome to cannibalize this for parts.
(oh yeah the song i was blasting while writing this was innocent man by billy joel. just thought it'd be funny to mention)

Chapter 1 Chapter 2
Pairing- Thrawn x f!reader x Luke Skywalker
Summary- Luke finds out about you being taken by the Empire, and you have another encounter with the Grand Admiral.
Word Count- 2K+
Warnings- Mentions of kidnapping and imprisonment
__________________________________________
"What do you mean they took her?!" Luke's fearful tone echoed off the walls of the commissary area of the Flacon where Lando assisted Chewie in cleaning up the mess made by the intruders.
Han raised his voice over his brother's, "hey now! Don't speak to her that way, it wasn't her fault and you know it!" The older man appeared by his wife's side, arms encircling her protectively. "Besides, what did you expect her to do? She's pregnant!" Han quipped harshly, the blue of his eyes darkening as he narrowed them.
The young Jedi was silent for a long moment, eyes darting from his sister's face to her irate husband. "Well-I…" finally huffing indignantly, Luke growled to himself as his hands found his hips. "No…no, I know it isn't your fault, Leia." There was a loud roar from the other side of the ship where Chewbacca shouted his own defense. "No, it's not your fault either Chewie. I'm just…" The younger man moved one of his hands from his hip to rub the irritation away from his eyes, "this is my fault." Luke choked, placing his hand back on his hip. "I…I should've been here to protect her instead of leaving. They're only after her because of me."
Leia started forward and touched her brother's arm, "no, Luke, don't blame yourself," she insisted, "you can't blame yourself. How could you possibly know she would be in danger?"
"Leia's right, Luke," Lando piped up as he waltzed up to join the group, "none of us could've ever guessed that the Empire would've come to get her specifically. Though," he sent a glance toward the young mother, "I think we can all agree that it was better that they didn't take Leia. Who knows what they could've done to her and the kiddos." The grave tone in his voice matched Han's expression, Luke noticed, as he watched the slight movement in his wife's stomach.
A moment of silence passed between them all before Chewbacca growled softly. "Yeah, Chewie's got a point too. Blaming isn't going to get (y/n) back any sooner." Han huffed as he crossed his arms over his chest, leveling his stern gaze at Luke. "So, Jedi knight, how're you going to get your girl back?"
Ignoring the term he used to refer to you, Luke closed his eyes in thought. Maybe he could reach you through the force…? Maybe you weren't that far away yet and he could somehow reach out to you so he could tell you that he was going to save you. Surely you knew he'd come for you, right? Or had he really placed such a serious wedge between the two of you that you'd even begin to believe that he'd leave you in the hands of the Imperials? What with all of his stupid beliefs of 'Jedi having no attachments' and everything. He accepted that idea, he really did, but…the more he weighed it and considered the look on your face when you smiled at him, how could he ignore the feeling so deeply set in his heart. The way your eyes sparkled at him in the starlight…it just…
Resolutely, Luke opened his eyes and headed to the front of the Falcon.
"I'm going to find her."
_____________________________________________
The dim lights of the Grand Admiral's office were an inviting change to the glaring white lights that consistently welcomed you wherever you were led- though, the silence that plagued the room was hardly comforting.
"So," you spoke up as you crossed one leg over the other casually, the linen dress you still wore draping easily back down your legs, "are we meeting because you expect me to give you more information?" As flattering as it was to be so 'important' to someone so high in rank, the narrowed glare given to you from the other side of the desk was equally as irritating.
A soft smile appeared on the admiral's face, he thought your bitterness was humorous, did he? "Perhaps," he replied curtly, glancing away momentarily to grab his datapad, then returned his glowing eyes back to you. "Though I do marvel at your tenacity just as considerably as any useful piece of knowledge you could offer me." He sure knew how to use his genius to annoy people, huh? Before you knew it, the man behind the desk was now standing and making his way around to you. "I must also admit that I find your eagerness to face a Grand Admiral of the Imperial Navy with such fearlessness very…" he seemed to ponder to word for a second before continuing, "compelling."
Thrawn's full height was accentuated by the way he stood over you in what felt like the galaxy's shortest chair (now with him towering over you). "Well…" you choked out nervously, "I suppose since there is no empire, that means no imperial navy to be a Grand Admiral of, therefore the title has no real significance to me." He could be as intimidating as he'd like but you weren't going to back down now. You'd been here for what felt like a week and, with no real evidence of how long you'd actually been aboard the Chimera, you assumed it must've been as long as it felt- or close enough to it. You’d been sat in this specific seat multiple times during different segments of the day, the fear was starting to lose its luster. Looking up at him once again you were struck by his expression.
He was stoic. He was just gazing down at you.
"Indeed, I suppose you are correct," Thrawn covered his mouth with one of his hands- deep in thought as he removed himself from beside your seat, finding his new position beside one of the large structures holding the ysalamiri- or at least that's what he'd told you they were at another point in a different conversation. "I seem to be continually amazed by your astute wit, (y/n)." He was petting the ysalamiri before him, his broad back facing you so he was unable to see your confounded expression. Was he getting enjoyment from your responses? "I also find it amusing how you consider that I see you as a source of amusement when in fact," Thrawn twisted around to face you, his hands positioned firmly behind his back now, "you are a prisoner of mine, and whatever I desire to know you will tell me."
The red of his eyes darkened significantly enough to drive a cold chill to straight down your spine. Perhaps the Empire was no longer a danger, but this man, this alien, he sure was. Taking a beat to regain your composure, you let out a breath you didn't know you were holding. "A-Alright," of course, your voice would fail you now, "I understand that you are my enemy and the things I know might be crucial to you, but-"
"Tell me, (y/n)," Thrawn interrupted as if you weren't even speaking, "why are you traveling with Skywalker and his crew if you are as useless as you say?" Thrawn truly seemed curious about the answer as he made his way back in front of his desk, towering before you, awaiting your response. "What was your profession before you were a 'freedom fighter'?"
Cocking your eyebrow in challenge, you wondered where your sudden boldness came from after he was so forward about where you stood in his eyes. "Why ask if you already know?" You hated talking about the life you had before you joined the rebels. The Empire wasn't all bad, the idea anyway. You actually preferred the organized structure of the government over the scattered nightmare of the rebel cause, or even the Republic you'd learned about prior to the Empire. The current ‘New Republic’ wasn’t doing much better either. But, after meeting Luke- after he saved you- it was more of a loyalty to him than to the cause. Upon seeing that Thrawn was still silently waiting for your reply, you huffed. "Fine. I was an artist. A painter. I sketched or painted nobles, moffs," your voice trailed off and the admiral hummed in understanding.
"Admirals as well, I assume," it was less of a question and more of a statement. Of course, he knew and, rolling your eyes, you nodded.
"Yes, admirals as well. Though I suppose I wasn't in the Empire whenever you rose to command because I've never met you before now." You knew you hadn't, his warm red eyes would have been burned into your memory.
Thrawn nodded in agreement, "indeed, I myself would have remembered you." He rounded the desk to return to his seat. "Though I have seen your art before," the man commented as a hologram of a painting you'd made years prior to your disappearance materialized between you. "It is quite astounding. I enjoy art, myself. I believe it can give insight into a person, or people." He clarified coolly and you noted how intently he was studying your art. The scrutiny of one of your pieces made your cheeks warm in embarrassment, you'd not had anyone ever really stare at it the way Thrawn seemed to.
Curiosity struck you, "w-what do you see in my art?"
Thrawn seemed unfazed by your question, but took his time before replying to it all the same, "you despised your subject." The honesty struck you to the core. How could he even know that? He was completely correct, but…how? The dumbfounded look on your face caused Thrawn to continue, "but, while you hated the subject you were instructed to paint, you treasured the creation itself. Which I admire. Your talent is," the pause in his voice again made your cheeks burn as you awaited more of his surprising critique, "unmatched."
Too stunned to immediately thank him for his honesty, you blinked dumbly. Eventually, you nodded at his comments, "well…thank you," you whispered softly, hands suddenly more interesting than anything else.
"Have you made very many paintings since your disappearance from the Empire?" His question startled you slightly. Why was he so curious about your art? What was he trying to gain? Thrawn hadn't asked about it any of the other times you'd spoken recently. So why now?
Shaking your head in response, you figured it was useless to lie to him anyway. "No, unfortunately, I haven't had the time…or the funds to be able to continue." You sounded more distressed than you would've thought if asked about it. Though now that you thought about it, the topic never really came up between anyone on the Falcon.
The hologram disappeared, leaving Thrawn gazing directly at you now, scrutinizing you as if you were now the artwork. "No, I would presume not," was all that was said, simply.
Again, the silence retrieved its choking grasp on the atmosphere and you glanced up at the exact moment the Grand Admiral waved his hand in his normal dismissal, "you are free to go for the evening." His tone was casual yet as stern and stoic as usual, but not having the white-clad troopers come in to grab you and lead you out was…new. So, awkwardly, you stood from your seat and waited a moment, quizzically looking at Thrawn. After a few seconds of no argument from the admiral, you slowly made your way to the door, jumping only a little as it whooshed open revealing Rhuk.
"Come now, Rhuk," you heard Thrawn chide stoically from his desk, "do not scare my informant. She is," he caught your eye with a small smile, "essential." The look in his eye seemed mischievous but you weren't certain if that was something you should be worried about.
As you returned to your cell, you settled down for the night on the solid structure they called a bed on this ship. "Alright, before you get all cozy," you heard a familiar trooper voice and sighed when you had to sit back up. You weren't as annoyed with the troopers anymore, they'd actually kept decent company and most of them were kind enough.
Once fully sat up, a trooper reached through the bars and held out a larger notebook full of paper. Curiously, you reached out and took it, along with the set of pencils given to you. "W-What is this?"
The trooper shrugged, the plastoid tapping against itself with the movement. "Beats me," he replied, "the admiral asked one of us to bring it to you. He said you deserved to continue what you love, even as a prisoner." Then the trooper was gone.
Gaping at the notebook in awe, you were awestruck, silent. Thrawn gave you this notebook? Out of…generosity? 'There's no way,' you thought to yourself as you set back against the wall connected to your cot, opening the notebook. Upon the first page was a beautifully written script, reading; 'I thoroughly acknowledge that you will see this as a means to acquire additional information from you, however; I would find it regrettable if you were incapable to resume such excellent work due to confinement. I, myself, am not an artist, though I can speculate how it must feel to be suffocated by the inability to do what one loves. So please, sketch. Thrawn.'

Good For Her
Tumblr media
Pairing Brenda x female reader
Summary:You and Brenda are getting serious. The one problem is that you don't know how to tell Jorge.
I know that Jorge sees Brenda as his little girl. At the end of the day he is truly her dad because he chose to be. I may not be a parent, or even have one anymore thanks to the Scorch, but it's clearly a difficult yet fulfilling role. So I understand why he would be protective of her even if it comes to dating while we live in an absolute hell.
That's why we didn't know how to tell him we were together. We just didn't know how he'd react. It wasn't because I was a girl, but he was clearly protective of her. There's no knowing how he'd react to the news.
Despite being together for half a year we were just as lost as we had been on our first date. Now we're laying next to each other under the stars as we keep trying to come up with any plan.
"He's not dumb Y/N. He's going to realize we're always gone together,"She pointed out.
"I know,"I sighed.
"Then, why don't we just come out and say it?"
I fiddled with the hem of my sleeves, not knowing how exactly to put it into words. I knew why, but at the same time I didn't know how to explain why my reason was so important to me.
"Just tell me. Sitting here in silence won't help,"She spoke up.
"I don't know. I want him to approve of me as your girlfriend. I want him to think that I'm good enough to deserve you. If he didn't I'd be crushed,"I admitted.
"He loves you though. He's always so happy when you're around. How much could that change?"
"He thinks I'm around as your friend. Not as your girlfriend. There's a difference."
"You're right. There is a difference,"A male voice said. To be more specific it was Jorge.
My heart stopped beating as we looked at him standing in the doorway. His face was impossible to read which wasn't made any better by the dark night sky. I averted my gaze to the ground.
"Brenda, can you go inside for a minute?"He asked.
"How come?"She asked, seeming defensive.
"I'd like to speak to Y/N."
She gently squeezed my shoulder before walking off. I kept my eyes fixated on a rock on the ground. The rock couldn't give me any untrustworthy or hurtful looks. Jorge could.
I heard his footsteps before he took a seat next to me. I subconsciously held my breath in anticipation for what he was going to say.
"It's a nice night, isn't it?"He said after a while. It wasn't what I expected at all. The tone, the casual words, or any of it. So far it was in a good way. I hope.
"Yeah,"I agreed, still nervously playing with my sleeves.
"Do you and Brenda come out here a lot?"
"Yeah,"I mumbled.
"I had a feeling about you two. A parent usually knows."
"You did?"I asked, looking at him. He merely nodded.
"Of course. I had an idea you two at least liked each other about a year ago."
"Really? We've only been together for half of that,"I confessed.
"Why didn't you tell me kiddo?"
While a lot of things weren't expected that question certainly was. So I repeated exactly what I had told Brenda but I far more detail. I admitted just how much his opinion truly meant to me. He didn't interrupt me once as I explained every worry I had. Only when I finished did I glance up at him.
"You're a great kid Y/N. I've known you since you were a little girl still losing her baby teeth. You and Brenda were practically inseparable the day you met. You're more than good for her."
"So, I have your blessing?"I asked hopefully.
"Yeah kiddo. You have my blessing,"He assured me, ruffling my hair. I grinned at the fact that all I had wanted truly came true. He truly thought I was good for her.

Hiya! What BL series would you recommend the most? So far, I've loved watching KinnPorsche (it's THE best!!), I Told Sunset about You, Cutie Pie & Bad Buddy. I also got into To My Star because of you, so cheers for that!
Anyway, I would love to watch more shows but I find it a bit hard to navigate because there's so many (and no offense, but some of which I initially started watching ended up being quite lame imo), so I would love to hear about your favs! Thanks in advance if you decide to reply. Have a lovely day/night wherever you are x
I have had this question several times over the past few months, but yours has been, by far, the kindest ask, so I'll answer now:
You don't want my trash recommendations.
So many others on here do it better, like @absolutebl! They have entire spreadsheets to break down preferences while I have five rules:
Don't bury the gay (MANDATORY!)
Be gay. Do crime! aka "Eff the police" (literally and figuratively)
I'm a messy bi, and I'll cry if I want to
Adulting is hard like my sexual attraction for you
Vice Vers(a) - Flipping the norms and changing dynamics
If a show gives me two out of four (since I will never allow a show to Killing Eve me again!), I'm going to fight random people AND their unborn kiddos in the street for it. Case & point:
Tumblr media
HIStory 4: Close to You (2021, 10 episodes, Taiwan - 9/10) - I loved all of. Not some parts. Not only one of the couples. No! ALL. OF. IT! Every couple. Every situation. Including the stepbrothers relationship and the whole ridiculous top/bottom conversations. LOVED IT! It had the messy factor that others only aspire to achieve.
Tumblr media
Taiwan has a tight hold on passionate men in sweatpants and a basic shirt down, and for that, I'm grateful!
Now that you know this is my floor, hopefully you understand that like my fave, Marie Kondo...
Tumblr media
I was raised on telenovelas and soap operas, so if an evil twin kidnaps the protagonist then sleeps with him and has a child who is given up to an orphanage only to grow up and fall in love with his rich (unknown to him) brother and uses witchcraft to give the rival love interest amnesia, I'd be happily sitting every week to witness it with no qualms. Who am I to judge?! Makes sense to me!
Which means I don't LOVE some dramas even though they are great because my basic rules don't apply, the messiness is missing, or they will be too tough to rewatch:
Bad Buddy (7/10) because I wanted one of them to snap, crackle, and pop off at their parents for passing on generational trauma. Also, being in love with Bad Bunny yet trying to say this title was too difficult for my brain.
I Told Sunset About You (8/10) is rude and feels like a personal attack. You've seen it, so you know what I'm writing about. We don't speak about the sequel.
Semantic Error (9/10) hurt because anyone who has been in a group project knows the pain that the lead felt, yet it tried to convince us that he was in the wrong. Team No Group Assignment!
Cherry Magic's (8/10) second couple made me irrationally upset. Cats can bring people together, but these two? Really?! Cats are better than this street dancing moment!
Gameboys' (7/10) whole plot of the dad going out to look for the son and catching COVID was...yeah, no. And if the lead said "baby" ONE MORE TIME, I was going to make like a balloon in a toddler's hand and POP!
We Best Love 1 & 2 (8/10) gave us a five year time jump between the first and second part, and if it weren't for that *excellent* drunk moment, I would have stopped watching it and stored part two in the horrible-sequels-we-don't-speak-about pile.
But a man plotting from the age of ten to manipulate his whole family into accepting him sleeping with his stepbrother (HIStory 4 - 9/10), I fully support.
Tumblr media
Therefore, you don't want what I'm peddling. Unless you do...
Trying to spotlight more recent ones because they will be easier to find
Tumblr media
Be gay. Do crime: Too focused on one a**hole to notice the many plot holes.
Manner of Death (2020, 14 episodes, Thailand - 7.5/10) - A story of two men trying to have sex while EVERYONE around them is being killed. Oh, and then there is a cactus and a baby murderer horribly fighting his feeling for the smartest/dumbest guy in the town.
KinnPorsche (2022, 14 episodes, Thailand - 8/10) - A story about a family that is determined to dickmatize the first person who is kind to them, which you already watched, so you know they succeed.
Eff the Police: Tend to have issues finishing, but always a fun ride *pun intended*.
Not Me (2022, 14 episodes, Thailand - 7.5/10) - Literally, eff the police...but also, figuratively.
HIStory 3: Trapped (2019, 10 episodes, Taiwan - 8/10) - If we can't avoid the cops, sleep with them, so at least we can have a good character witness.
Tumblr media
Messy Bi: There will be tears. Lots and lots of tears.
Love Mechanics (2020 and remake in 2022, 4 episodes/10 episodes, Thailand - 7/10, remake 8/10) - Polyamory is the answer, but the characters refuse to share.
Hello, Stranger (2020, 8 episodes, Philippines - 7.5/10) - A jock decides flirting with a guy is easier than actually doing his portion of the group project. The movie sequel is not on this level.
Tumblr media
Adulting is Hard: The angst is strong, but the chemistry is stronger.
To My Star (2021, 9 episodes, South Korea - 9.5/10) - When being a big star is too difficult, stop showing up for work, crash at someone else's house, and pop his pimples. To My Star 2 is not on this level but still brought the chemistry, so if you didn't watch, do it.
He's Coming To Me (2019, 8 episodes, Thailand - 8/10) - Life is hard, but the afterlife is harder, so pester a kid for a decade until he decides to solve murders. The way the main's sexuality is handled is perfect.
Tumblr media
Vice Vers(a): The confessions are ALWAYS a 10!
Old Fashion Cupcake (2022, 5 episodes, Japan - 9.5/10) - When in love with a boss, walk a delicate line of being the best employee while letting him know exactly the eight ways you can blow hi...his mind...with your mo...monumental organization ski.. Oh eff it him!
My Beautiful Man (2021, 6 episodes, Japan - 9/10) - Just an ordinary man who wants to be loved and the guy who wants to worship him in every way possible.
DNA Says Love You (2022, 12 episodes, Taiwan - 8/10) - The audience knows the whole time what is happening, but has no idea what is actually happening. Is it a ghost story? Is it about a soul reincarnating? Is this about amnesia? Nope. Well, actually...yeah, still no.
I have a lot more, but this is already too long.
All in all, embrace what you like. If you like a certain aspect of show, latch on to it and explore others that showcase that particular plot device. Also, don't be ashamed of what you like. Even if others think it's lame, if you like it, then I love it. Believe me, if China had finished Addicted, there be a lot more people living in glass houses keeping quiet instead of judging us because some guys in the mafia actually do bad things.

🍳 our muses are having breakfast at a local food place (Caleb and Pogue @in--noctem, sorry for the anon I'm on the wrong blog xD)
Caleb probably wouldn't've agreed to skip school with Pogue if the night before hadn't left them both feeling so drained and upset. Mr. Parry had had yet another tantrum, smacking his son around while his wife cooked dinner (only stopping to tell them to get out of "her space" in the kitchen). As usual, Pogue teleported straight to the Danvers, glad that his parents didn't do any magic. Because it'd been years since Caleb had realized what Pogue's parents were truly like, he had a plan in place. He set his best friend up with a decent dinner, then called the police (who were familiar with the situation) so that they wouldn't think Pogue had been kidnapped. It always took a while longer than he would've liked to get Pogue to bed. There were bruises and cuts to be treated, and even then, Pogue was far from being OK (not that he was expected to be). On days like those, he had multiple nightmares, so the Danvers had learned to have him sleep in Caleb's room. The boys always ended up under the same sheets together, arms wrapped protectively around each other--but Caleb knew to untangle himself before Pogue woke up and freaked out.
They went out of town to avoid any suspicious adult eyes. Pogue, who had bought a motorcycle as soon as he'd turned 16 (he only waited that long because he knew he had to pass the tests before driving it) apparently found a diner on some day when he'd gone out of town instead of to the Danvers, post-dad tantrum. So, he drove the two of them there. Caleb knew that Pogue probably would've been more physically comfortable using one of their cars, but he didn't want his own mom worrying about them--even if she might not leave her room til the afternoon.
Caleb liked the place as soon as he saw it. The outside was plain, but it was perfectly clean, with bright paint and absolutely no dirt on any of the paneling. "It doesn't look like much, I know...food's not as good as yours, but it's a nice spot," Pogue said quietly, putting his gloves away for the moment. He was surprised to feel a gentle-yet-firm hand on his shoulder, and he looked up to see one of those smiles that made him feel guilty and giddy at the same time.
"Thanks, man." Thanks for bringing me, for letting me come with you this time. Thanks for the compliment--even though you're always silently moaning when I cook us something.
"Yeah." Pogue started off for the front doors, Caleb only a step behind. There was music from the 70s and 80s playing, not enough to be anything but a quiet soundtrack. About half of the place was full, which was interesting for a restaurant's weekday. Pogue sat down in a booth not far from the bar, and Caleb sat across from him. It was all of 5 seconds before a waitress in a pink-striped uniform rolled up, beaming.
"Kiddo! How are ya!?" she cried, beckoning for Pogue to hug her. He did, a sheepish grin on his face as she kissed his cheek.
"Hey, Donna. Donna, this...uh, this is Caleb." He sat back down, and suddenly he couldn't look his friend in the eye. But Donna certainly could. She grinned mischievously.
"Caleb Danvers. Oh yeah, we've heard about you. What are ya in the mood for? Pogue always gets a stack a' cinnamon pancakes, but he says you make the best French toast--"
"Donna--"
"I'm just sayin'. Here, I'll get ya' a menu. Don't worry about what's for breakfast and f' lunch--Jimmy doesn't mind makin' both." Over the next hour or so, Caleb learned that Donna was taking classes to become a dentist's assistant, and she had a little boy named Ricky who thought Pogue was a god because he'd let him sit on his bike once. He also learned that Donna could read people's minds (not literally, he hoped), Pogue came to the diner about once a month (even if his parents weren't being horrible), and that Pogue had told Donna (plus the other two waitresses who knew him) all about Ipswich, minus the magic part.
Both boys left Donna and the rest of that shift a hefty tip--after all, they were the heirs to family fortunes--and took milkshakes and fries to-go. They went to Boston to explore, then had a picnic on the outskirts of Ipswich. Caleb had to keep reminding himself that it wasn't a date, that he was just keeping Pogue company while the other guy took a day.
He liked to think that they'd had enough fun to forget the night before, at least for a little while.

Hackett's Quarry Summer Camp Entrance
17:07 August 22–Carter Rhodes
Emma stood in the middle of the dirt road, waving off the bus at it retreated down the trail back towards the interstate. "Bye!" She called, lifting on her toes for a moment with a smile.
Nick, standing on the balcony beside Dylan, smiled slightly with a soft tone to his voice. "Laters!"
Dylan grinned that familiar dopey grin of his, sending the kids off with a salute. "Peace and love!"
Snickering softly, I tossed a peace sign up in the air, wolf whistling playfully. "Adios, little dudes!"
Kaitlyn, perched on the steps with Jacob, folded her arms over her chest. "See ya later, kids!"
"Yeah! Hackett's Quarry forever!" Jacob cheered, arm draped over the shorter girls shoulders. I shook my head, standing beside Emma as she blew a few air kisses after the bus, one final wave on her mind. The blonde, despite being taller than me, had quickly become one of my best friends here at the quarry. She was incredibly outgoing which more than made up for my typically shy nature, and I found myself confiding in her more often than I did the camp owner.
After spending two months here, taking care of much younger kiddos surrounded by nature and rambunctious teens fresh out of high school, I'd grown to miss my home slightly less. It was far more peaceful here than back home, at least, it was for me. I didn't have the best family life, living with a single mother that couldn't stand half of the stuff I was into—supposedly because I was either too much like my dead father or not enough like him. Coming here was my safe haven, rescuing me from a summer that would've been shrouded in storm clouds—ironic because I love thunderstorms.
It would've been better if my two best friends had actually made it, though. We'd planned to work here together this summer, but Max and Laura decided it would be best to head in a day early. I'd told them I'd had a bad feeling about the idea, what with my strong sixth sense and all, but Laura was quick to shoot down my concerns. She claimed it was my social anxiety, and Max and I had no other reason not to believe her. I showed up the day after and unfortunately discovered they hadn't arrived.
According to Chris Hackett, the camp owner, they'd called in and claimed they weren't going to make it. My gut feeling didn't agree with the excuse he gave us, but I didn't pry. It wasn't my place to. Despite the lack of Max and Laura's presence beside me this past summer, I still enjoyed my time here. I was honestly a bit down to be leaving this place.
Branch Selected
Skeptic BFF: Having been best friends with Max and Laura, I knew they weren't okay. With their absence, I grew skeptical of Chris Hackett and his promises.
"Dude, this summer was frickin' epic." I hummed thoughtfully, hands buried in my ripped jean pockets. Emma slung an arm over my shoulder, leaning into my side with a small chuckle, her cocoa eyes wrinkled slightly with her pearly smile.
"Um, duh, because you spent it with me!" I snorted, ruffling my short blonde curls gently as I let my eyes rest for a moment. Deciding to stay kind rather than flirty or cynical, I smiled at her from the corner of my eye.
"Hey, you're pretty damn quick-witted and smart, Emma. Makes being around snot-nosed little brats a helluva lot more tolerable when you're keeping me entertained." I replied, feeling her rest her chin on my shoulder.
Emma is flattered by my response.
"Hm, yeah, I am pretty awesome." Rolling my eyes, I nudged her side gently, coaxing her towards the minivan. "Right, well, why don't you go see if you can find Ryan or something? I'm going to go toy with Jacob before I look for Abi."
"You're tearing his poor heart strings, drama queen." I cooed playfully, grinning as she walked away.
"Yeah yeah. It's just a summer fling." She shrugged, skipping her way towards Jacob and Kaitlyn. Turning on my heel, I proceeded towards the cellar, pleasantly satisfied to find a familiar face leaning against a post with his earbuds in. His eyes were closed as he bobbed his head slightly every so often, most likely listening to his podcast. I made my way to his side and nudged his shoe, causing the guy to tilt his head up to look at me.
I smiled down at him as he removed one earbud, returning the gesture. "Hey, Ryan. Mind if I sit down?" He shook his head and I took my place beside him, legs curled to my chest and head resting on my knees. "So? The podcast?"
His dark eyes lit up almost immediately, lips pulling tight in a genuine, relaxed smile. "Yeah. New episode came out today." I grinned lightly, always warmed when I saw his or the others eyes light up about something they were into. I don't know why, but I'd always found myself with a knack for making others smile.
"That's cool. Been a week, right?" He nodded, and I found myself easily slipping into conversation with him about it. It wasn't hard, actually. I'd always been a pretty charismatic person, finding it incredibly natural for me to come up with things to talk about. To be honest, if I really wanted to I could manipulate people, make them feel or think a certain way. But I wouldn't do that. I wasn't that type of person.
"Yeah. It's a bit of a long one, though, so hopefully it's a really good story." I nodded, closing my eyes. I suppose he took that to mean he could continue listening because after a moment of shuffling, I could barely make out muffled audio from his earbuds. I kept my head buried in my knees for awhile, enjoying the peace and quiet, 'til heavy footsteps made their way over.
Peeking up, I waved at Jacob, whom waved at both myself and Ryan. Ryan, of course, noticed and waved in reply, but didn't do much else. Jacobs eyes flitted between the two of us awkwardly as he shifted his weight before he turned on his heel. I glanced at Ryan and shrugged my shoulders, standing up and dusting my pants off.
Urging myself to follow after Jacob, I trekked up the lodge steps to the front door just as it slammed shut in Jacob's face. "C'mon man!" Jacob huffed, the sound of soft chuckling muffled by the closed wood. Now realizing his predicament, I debated assisting him for a moment. I tapped his shoulder, startling the teddy bear of a guy as he spun on his heel.
"Try the window around the side. Library window is always unlocked." He grinned, ruffling my hair with his large hand, cheeks the slightest tint of pink.
"Thank you, little dude!" I pouted at the nickname he'd never dropped, puffing out my cheeks as he made his way around the side.
"I'm, like, a foot shorter than you, Jacob!"
Jacob is amused by my response.
With a huff, I face the door again, knocking gently. It swung open in seconds, the same dopey grin I'd come to adore greeting me, doe eyes searching my face with glee. "Well, hey there, tiger stripes! Looking to join the cool kids?" I snorted slightly at Dylan's word choice, unable to resist the grin tugging at my lips.
"Oh yeah. Heard the coolest of the cool were here." I decided to play along, hands once again buried in my pockets. "You wouldn't happen to know where I could find them, would ya, kind sir?"
Dylan hummed thoughtfully, placing a hand on his chin dramatically. "Hmm, I dunno. Where could those two super cool dudes be?"
Taking the sight of his much taller frame in, I decided to take a leap of faith. "I've also heard they're the most attractive, if that helps?" His cheeks flushed and his brown eyes flicked back to my grey ones, his smile softer.
Dylan is flustered but pleasantly surprised by my flirtatious reply.
"U-Uh, yeah! Yeah, they're right here, come in, come in!" He stepped to the side, finally allowing me entry. As the door clicked shut behind me, I spotted Nick sitting by the stairs and waved. He smiled back slightly, curling his fingers in a lazy wave just as Jacob entered his line of view. Turning to face Dylan, I found he was already staring at me, my eyes widening for a second at the realization.
"Dyl? Is there something on my face...?" He blinked and flushed again, shaking his head. One of his pale hands scratched the back of his neck whilst the other slipped into his back pocket, chocolate doe eyes flickering away from me awkwardly.
"N-No, sorry. Just got...lost in thought."
"Right..."
"I-I'm gonna go get our phones, so...." Dylan quickly jogged towards Chris' office to gather our phones, disappearing from my sight.
Blinking away the awkward moment, I turned and moved further into the lodge, eying the walls and tables for any random items lying about. It seemed Dylan and Nick did a great job cleaning, though, because I couldn't even find dust under the tables. With a satisfied smile, I perched myself on one of the many benches, fiddling with my long black sleeves as I waited for Dylan to return, suddenly feeling a bit isolated and shy.
Granted, that was my own doing coming in here while the others were busy, but it still agitated me slightly all the same. Lost in my thoughts, I barely noticed the small rectangular paper piece stuck between the floorboards below me. Furrowing my brows in curiosity, I leaned down and plucked the object up, gazing over it with narrowed grey eyes and parted lips.
It was a tarot card, specifically the Temperance card. What appeared to be an Angel in white with red wings rested on its center, a chalice and wine in her hands. It was old, the corners slightly tattered, and appeared to have been lit aflame recently as it's edges were still a faint orange glow.
My head began to hurt and I winced, placing my free palm against my forehead. My vision swam and my ears pulsed with a sound like rapid water, pressure building in my temples. I groaned, head swaying before I abruptly blacked out.
It was dark, the fire lit before me, my friends surrounding me. Jacob tossed a beer can my way, a pocket knife in his outstretched hand. I debated it for a moment as I caught the beverage, then stood and accepted the blade so I could shotgun the beer, pocketing it afterwards.
I gasped as I came to, forcing myself to open my eyes as my hands shook. I'd somehow fallen from the bench, and just now realized that Nick was leaning over me, his hand hovering over my side. His dark eyes were full of concern, searching my pale face for any signs of discomfort or pain.
"Hey? You okay, Carter?" I blinked a few times and nodded, swallowing thickly as he helped me sit upright, his palm warm and firm on my lower back. I grunted and rubbed my temples, the buzzing of the vision I'd seen leaving my mind scrambled. Glancing down at my left hand, brows furrowing again as nothing but a trace of ash left in my palm. "Carter?"
"Y-Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. Just a dizzy spell." Though he seemed reluctant to accept my response, Nick nodded, gently helping me to stand. I grunted and popped my neck, wiping the ash inconspicuously against my white-washed jeans. My skin was paler than normal and coated in a thin sheen of sweat, my pupils dilated.
Nick is concerned for my health.
Nick, noticing how pale I seemed, opened his mouth to speak, his hand gripping my arm slightly to steady me. Before he could, a familiar head of soft brown locks popped into view.
"Yo! Got the phones!" Dylan greeted, grinning as he waved the case with our phones around. I shot the boy a grateful smile, avoiding Nick's gaze as Dylan gently handed me my phone, the familiar black and blue glittery case comfortable in my hands.
"Thanks DJ." I smiled slightly and pressed the power button, watching the apple logo come to life on my screen.
"No prob, Tiger."
"Thanks man."
Unlocking my phone, I huffed, pouting my lip. "Dammit, no bars. 73% though."
Nick messed his for a moment before nodding along. "No bars, 42%."
"Ah, shit, I'm at 6%."
"Should've turned your phone off, dude."
Dylan scoffed at my words, reaching over to ruffle my blonde locks as he stuffed his phone in his pocket. "Zip it, pipsqueak."
"I'm not that short, dammit!"
Nick and Dylan laughed as I whined and complained, fixing my hair as we made our way outside onto the balcony porch. Dylan leaned against the rail on my right, Nick on my left, and I hoisted myself onto the banister, legs over the edge and my arm resting on Dylan's shoulder. Jacob and Kaitlyn stood below us around the minivan, the former having just recently tossed the last bags inside the crammed trunk.
Dylan, having tossed the box, now held an array of phones—most likely belonging to the others—in his pockets. Nick, however, held a familiar black rectangle in his own hands, a mischievous grin growing on his tanned face. He shared a subtle glance with me, reassuring my disapproving look with a shrug as Dylan spoke to the duo.
"Hey Jacob!"
The tall athlete turned to face us, the relaxed expression on his face quickly falling as his gaze caught sight of the object in Nick's grasp. "Dude, no! N-No, c'mon, please! Don't!"
With a chuckle, the lithe Aussie tossed the object into the air, crying, "Go long!" Jacob scrambled to catch it, fumbling it slightly before his fingers managed to find purchase around the slim frame of his phone. He cheered, holding it up with glee before breaking into a very sexual and lewdly inappropriate dance.
"Boo yah! There it is!"
I groaned and scrambled down from the banister, Dylan's palm quickly covering my eyes which elicited a soft giggle from me. Dylan guided me down the stairs as we joined the duo, his hand still covering my sight.
"Good save, man!" Nick's voice cheered, and Jacob's erotic grunting got louder.
"Oh my god, this sounds so much worse when I can't see." Dylan snorted behind me, removing his palm as Jacob finally settled his behavior.
"Ooh, I wish I had some singles." Dylan yelped as my hand met his shoulder harshly, a blush and a glare on my face.
"Freaks. I'm surrounded by freaks." Kaitlyn exclaimed, completely disgusted by Jacob's behavior.
"No, you're just friends with a bunch of horndogs." Kaitlyn scoffed at my reply, but her unamused expression quickly altered to one of delight as Dylan passed her phone over.
"Oh thank God. I get the whole 'no technology' thing, but take me back world!" Her expression fell as she checked her notifications to find nothing, a groan of distaste leaving her lips. "Oh come on! Not one cell tower!?"
As the two conversed I felt something under my shoe and peeked down. Moving my left foot to the side, I found another card buried in the dirt. Picking it up, I gazed over the tattered surface, examining the image framed across the Strength card. A boy in a hood was hobbled over a wolf, his hands drawing its jaws apart.
The buzzing returned and I faltered, staggering slightly. My vision blurred and my ears popped, my head swaying again. The sound was louder than before, louder than buzzing but quieter than a ringing. It made my ears hurt and I covered them, clenching my teeth.
I held my breathe, back pressed to a boulder with Abigail beside me, hands over each other's mouths. A silhouette clambered above the boulder beside us, it's glowing red eyes searching the earth, snarling as it's saliva dripped against my shoulder and made me shudder.
"Woah, woah! Easy there, Tiger." I yelped, stumbling as Dylan steadied me, his hands on my shoulders to hold me upright as my knees buckled. His eyes and Kaitlyn's searched mine carefully, both sharing a worried glance. "You okay?"
"Y-Yeah, dehydrated, maybe. I'll be fine."
Dylan and Kaitlyn were weary but accepting of my reply.
Jacob's voice drew my attention, along with Kaitlyn and Dylan, whom turned to face him in unison. "Man, you would've thought Mr. H could've charged our phones just a little bit."
"Nothing's ever your fault, is it?" Kaitlyn raised a brow, crossing her arms over her chest.
Dylan, deciding to be his usually quippy self, smirked playfully as he spoke. "You know, you should probably just save it for emergencies only. Unless, of course, is being dumped an emergency?"
I winced at the mention, the memory of that encounter still fresh in mind. Emma and Jacob had been in some form of a friends-with-benefits relationship this past summer. I'd caught them going at it on multiple occasions in the bathhouse, and that's probably why Jacob was always so flustered around me. Though, last night Emma broke it off with him, claiming it was just a summer fling and the long distance wouldn't work. I'd come with her to dump him on account of her complaining how 'she needed moral support', but I rather ended up comforting the big teddy bear afterwards.
I'd honestly felt pretty terrible just witnessing the breakup. Especially since, in my blatant opinion, Jacob was one of the sweetest guys I'd ever met. Personally, I'd have taken the chance and tried Long distance just for him. He deserved that kind of happiness.
Nick chuckled, a taunting grin on his lips, one hand set on his hip. "Burn!"
Though his expression fell momentarily at the mention of Emma, he was just as quick to snap back as usual. "Ah, well, at least I had a relationship this summer."
"Damn, now we burned!"
"Shut up, Nick." I snickered, shaking my head. Dylan glanced at me and flushed slightly, bottom lip extended in a partial pout.
"Yeah, well, maybe not everyone is looking for a hookup, okay? So—"
"Okay, okay! Can you guys put your little dicks away and let's get this show on the road, huh?" Kaitlyn intervened quickly, her sensible and reliable self able to just about smell the testosterone boiling between the two tallest people in our group.
Under my breathe, I mumbled. "I know at least one of their dicks ain't little." Nick, having heard me, whipped his head in my direction with wide eyes and I flushed, waving him off shyly. His expression spoke louder words than I did—'We're discussing this later' he mouthed.
"Where's everybody else?" Nick inquired, changing the subject quickly as he surveyed the lodge interest curiously. His gaze settled on Jacob as he spoke, quirking a brow.
"Wha-Why would I know that?" The tall ravenette inquired.
Nick shrugged, hands in his pockets. "I dunno. Sometimes you know stuff I don't."
Jacob blinked incredulously. "I-I...I don't even know how to respond to that."
Nick's quick wit stayed just as strong as both Jacob's and Dylan's. "You say, 'Nick you're way smarter than me and you're a super hot guy who gets all the chicks he wants.'"
"You may be the most attractive in Emma's cabin, but mine would not have agreed with that statement." I quipped, tossing a playful grin his way. The Aussie stuck his tongue out at me in reply, though he no longer had a comeback in mind.
"Keep dreaming, Junior." Jacob huffed, his tone slightly aggressive. I gave him a shy but awkward smile, but for once, he failed to return it, instead redirecting his gaze to his feet. My heart dropped, turning my head to face the area under the lodge.
"Aaaaanyway..." Kaitlyn once again directed our attention elsewhere after a long silence.
"Do we just, like...wait? Or...?" Dylan spoke, tilting his head.
"Yeah."
"Boringggg." I rolled my eyes at the quirky brunettes complaint, stepping closer to him and leaning my head against his left bicep—goddamn, the guy didn't look it but he was toned.
"Yeah, I need to charge my phone. You think Mr. H would let me pop in and give it some juice before we leave?"
Kaitlyn gave him a baffled look, shifting her weight on her feet. "Why didn't you charge it before we got to camp?"
"I dunno. I figured we'd still have them at camp."
"Why would you assume that at a summer camp?"
"Nobody said they would take them!"
"Even I figured that one out, dude." Jacob added, shrugging his shoulders. The two broke into a small argument and I sighed, moving away from Dylan. Making my way to the trunk of the minivan, I dug through my bag—which was thankfully on top of the discombobulated pile—and retrieved my inhaler, along with its backup. Pocketing them, I made my way to Jacob's side as Emma and Abigail came into view.
"Heyyyyy!" Emma called, sidling up to the group with a dejected-looking Abigail behind her.
"Where are your bags?" Nick asked, just as confused as the rest of us over their unsuccessful mission.
"Mr. H locked them in the cabin already."
Jacob scoffed, eying the blonde with the smallest hint of adoration in his eyes. "Why? To keep out bears?"
"...Apparently." She sighed, shaking her head.
Dylan leaned forward a bit, shifting his weight with a curious glint to his eyes. "Well, why didn't you just...break in?"
Abigail scoffed, gesturing between him and Emma as she spoke. "Okay, because Dylan thinks that would've been a good idea, that confirms we did the right thing." Emma waved her off, obviously displeased with the girl.
"Oof, ow. I like my ideas." Dylan took it in stride despite how underhanded the comment was, shrugging slightly. I hummed and pursed my lips, glaring sickeningly sweet towards the artist.
"Sorry not everyone's a picture perfect goody-two-shoes like you, Blyg." I cooed, grinning sarcastically. Abigail grit her teeth and wrinkled her nose but otherwise said nothing.
Abigail was irritated by my smart remark.
It wasn't really a secret that Abigail and I never got along. We just didn't click like the others did. On top of that, she's quite naive and too obtuse during conversation, often saying things without thinking about them first. She took the 'n' of out of fun, leaving 'f u'.
"Hey, has anyone seen Ryan?" Emma inquired, gazing about the group as she realized one of us was still missing.
"Oh yeah, he's probably off being all broody and mysterious and alluring somewhere." Dylan quipped, the faintest pink tint on his cheeks.
"Your dick runs your mouth a lot, doesn't it?" I teased, the brunette flicking me off as his cheeks darkened.
"I'm here." My grey eyes fell on the dark-skinned counselor I'd spent half my summer with when Emma wasn't around, his earbuds now dangling over the collar of his shirt.
"What're you doing under there? A little 'me' party?"
"Uh...I was listening to a podcast, actually." Ryan answers Kaitlyn's question, somewhat reluctant to express his interest with the group. I smiled reassuringly at him, watching his shoulders relax as he caught my gaze.
"Oh, podcast, that...that's cool." Dylan hummed. He wasn't even interested in the topic, his eyes gazing over Ryan's face almost love struck.
"What's it about?"
"Yeah, what's it about? Is it about me?"
Ryan flicked his eyes over to Dylan, brows furrowed as he missed the flirtatious remark. "You...think I was listening to a podcast...about you?"
"Okay, if anyone had a podcast about themselves, it'd be me." Raising her hand slightly, Kaitlyn nonchalantly expressed her affirmation of her awesome personality, earning a chuckle out of me.
"Yeah, if there was a podcast called 'How to look and smell like a butt'."
"Dylan, you're hormones are showing." He stuck his tongue out in my direction, the girls snickering lightly.
"Shut up, Carter." He groaned.
"No, it's—it's a paranormal podcast." Ryan continued, slowly drawing closer to the group, though still outside the circle we'd formed.
"The one about Hackett's Quarry?" I inquired, earning a look of surprise from Nick and Jacob.
"You listen to it, too?" The former asked.
"Nah. I love listening to Ryan talk about it though. He's a really good story teller." The guy in question smiled at my compliment, slightly flustered.
Ryan was grateful for my display of interest in his hobby.
"It's, uh, called 'The Hag of Hackett's Quarry'."
Perking up at the mere sound of it, a slight buzzing formed in my ears, something like a whisper sending a shiver up my spine. "Why does that sound familiar?"
"You've probably heard it before."
"I'm sorry. The what of whosit what now?" Kaitlyn seemed thoroughly confused, lips parted and brows raised.
"You don't know about 'The Hag of Hackett's Quarry'?" Dylan all but gasped, an expression of dramatic shock on his face.
"Would I be asking if I did, dumbass?"
"Tell her about 'The Hag of Hackett's Quarry'."
Catching on to the playfulness Dylan had acquired, the corner of Ryan's lips lifted. "I don't think she wants to know about the Hag of Hackett's Quarry."
"Can we please just stop saying 'The Hag of Hackett's Quarry'?" Kaitlyn snapped, quickly losing her patience with the two. Dylan's mouth snapped shut and Ryan began to explain.
"It's just this campfire story for the kids. It's um... There's supposedly an old woman who died in a fire a few years back. She haunts the woods looking for her lost baby boy." He started, eyes darting between each counselor to gauge their reaction. "There are like reports of whispers, or whatever, and this figure that floats around... You know, textbook ghost stuff. Some people say that if she catches you alone, she'll try to turn you into her son... or kill you or something, I dunno... It's never really been clear. Anyways. 'Hag of Hackett's Quarry'." It was silent for maybe a moment as everyone let his ghost story sink in.
"Y-You made that up." Kaitlyn looked miffed at her stutter, eying Ryan skeptically.
"It's right here in the podcast, man."
Jacob shot the guy a smile, nodding his head along. "Cool story, bro."
"Yeah, Ryan, that's actually pretty sick, man. You amaze me with those stories, dude." I chipped in, earning a delighted smile in reply.
Ryan was reassured and happy with my response.
"You guys should've seen the kids though. Scared them shitless, I swear." I snickered, sharing a grin with Dylan.
"They weren't that bad..." Ryan mumbled halfheartedly.
"Gotta be careful with that stuff, man. That shits true." Dylan's comment seemed to cause Kaitlyn and Jacob some momentary discomfort, as the former shifted her weight and the other snapped frantically.
"C'mon—dude, bullshit!"
"What's the hold up, Hacketteers?" I yelped at the voice overhead, turning my head to face our coffee-loving, shorts-wearing boss, Chris Hackett.
"Heya—ah, we, uh—w-we're almost done, Mr. H!" Jacob stammered, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Well, hop to it, kiddos! You're wasting daylight."
Emma stepped forward with a scoff, hand on her hip. "Coulda-woulda if our bags weren't locked up."
Narrowing his eyes on her with distaste, he tilted his head. "What's that? Sounded like you said 'of course Mr. H, we're on it, Mr. H!'"
Abigail, sensing our boss's waning patience, stepped in. "Sorry, Mr. Hackett, but our...our bags—"
"Right. Cabin. Huh."
"We're really bustin' our butts here. Well, except Ryan who's trying to scare the pants off our butts with his weird ghost stories." Kaitlyn added, eying the teen as an after thought.
"Okay, okay, enough with all the butts..." An expression of minor disgust crossed the man's wrinkled brow as he waved his hand. "Eh—and what...what's this about ghost stories?"
"The 'H' of 'H's' 'Q'."
Ryan cleared his throat, head bowed slightly. "'The Hag of Hackett's Quarry.' I was just—"
"Oh for Pete's sake, Ryan." Chris scoffed, disappointment heavy in his tone.
"Hey, dude, lay off. He likes his ghost stories, some sissy kids gotta learn to grow up eventually." I snapped, glaring up at the man hovering on the porch. Ryan glanced at me with temporary relief, whilst Mr. Hackett narrowed his eyes down on me with a grunt.
"Hey, uh—" Kaitlyn stepped in again, sensing the growing tension once more. "You still got the van key, Mr. H?"
I rolled my eyes and turned to face the van, leaning against a tree near its hood as I closed my eyes. The buzzing hadn't gone away, and closing my eyes made my head swim. My left hand came up to rub at my temples, a sharp exhale escaping my nose as I rolled my shoulders. I'd been feeling off for the past week—lightheaded, exhausted, weak—but ever since I'd picked up that first tarot card my discomfort had multiplied tenfold.
I'd always been sensitive to the unnatural or spiritual. My dad used to tell me I was gifted with the sight, more commonly known as being a medium or clairvoyant. I had a knack for sensing danger and sometimes seeing things in my dreams that had yet to occur—the same thing that elicited moments of Deja Vu later on. It usually was pretty relaxed, occurring fairy rarely and otherwise leaving my life as normal as it could get. However, since arriving here my clairvoyance had been going off the rails—whether it be that sixth sense kicking in when a tree was going to fall or a kid was going to get themselves hurt half way across camp, or it was a dream three nights early warning me of a bear in the woods or a coyote sneaking into one of the cabins. I hadn't had a full nights sleep since early July.
Grumbling slightly, I straightened up as Mr. H made his way to the minivan with Ryan and Jacob in tow, surprised I'd been out of it for so long. The man tossed the keys to Jacob, an anxious smile spreading across his face.
Dylan, most likely replying to whatever Chris had just said, huffed out desperately. "I try not to dwell on the past, man."
"Good, cause it's time to dwell on the minivan and get on with our respective lives! Move it, let's go!" Chris urged, waving Jacob into the car.
Baffled by Chris' urgency in trying to make us leave, Emma stepped forward. "Hey, what about our bags?!"
"Oh, Emma. I'm gonna have to ship 'em to you tomorrow first thin—" His indifference to her question irritated the blonde, a scowl on her face.
"Hell no! No. I am not leaving without my—"
"Hey! It's the way it's gotta be." Chris snapped, efficiently convincing Emma to shut her mouth.
"Ugh."
"Come on, Jacob! Start 'er up!"
Jacob turned the key in the ignition, though the only response the minivan gave was a sharp squeal and loud sputtering. Confused, I furrowed my brows, leaning closer to the hood to try and make out where the sound was coming from.
"What's the problem?" Chris' voice had grown more urgent, impatiently moving near the hood, as well.
"Ugh... Dude. I don't know. I-I think there's something wrong with the engine, Mr. H." Jacob hummed. His voice took on a lilt that screamed guilty to me, though Chris seemed too anxious to notice.
"Yeah, I can see that."
"Yeah dude, it's just like... kaput!"
"Alright lemme try." Ryan stepped towards the drivers side, peering at Jacob through the open window.
"What? Dude, I'm telling you, alright, it's busted!"
"Well maybe you're doing it wrong—"
"Duh- 'Well maybe you're doing it wrong!'" Jacob's tone baffled me, my eyes shooting up to glare at him through the front windshield.
"The fuck, dude?"
"Enough! Enough, both of you! Shit." He stepped up to the car, opening the drivers door and tugging at Jacob's sleeve. "Come on, come on let's go."
Stumbling, Jacob stepped out of the vehicle, brushing himself off. "Alright dude, chill! Chill dude." As Chris attempted to start the car, smoke began to seep from the lip of the hood, startling me.
"Uh, Mr. H? Pretty sure it's not supposed to do that..." His eyes widened at my words and he jumped out of the car, dragging me away from the tree I was leaning against.
"Holy smokes! Everybody back, now! No, now, now!" He exclaimed, urging the rest of the group backwards. Jacob, however, disregarded Mr. Hackett's warning and moved to the front of the vehicle, popping it open to view the engine. A blaze had formed near the fuel tank, our eyes widening at the sight.
"Jesus Christ!" Jacob exclaimed, skirting the edge of the car.
"J-Jacob, c'mon, get away from it!" I exclaimed, my heart racing in my chest. I hated fire, loathed it, memories I didn't want to recall lingering at the forefront of my brain.
"I-I got this!" He reached into the drivers side, grasping at water bottle. He ran back to the front of the vehicle and I yelped, darting past both Ryan and Chris.
"Jacob, don't—!" The water splashed over the engine just as I curled my fingers around Jacob's wrist. The flames rose and my back and arm, which were facing the hood, were splashed with oil. A scream left me as my skin burned through the fabric, recoiling closer to Jacob and cradling my burnt arm to my chest. "Fuck!"
"Shit, shit! Are you okay? Fuck!" Jacob cradled my arm in his large hands, blowing cool air on the red skin peeking through the freshly singed hole in my sleeve and shoulder, electing a whimper from me. Chris appeared beside us with a fire bucket in hand, dumping the sand in it over the engine and successfully smothering the flames.
With a heavy sigh, he dropped the bucket to the ground, brows furrowed with distress. "This things toast."
"Well, uh- Look it's not that big of a deal, okay, we'll just spend one more night out here." Jacob quipped after a moment, patting my back lightly as I babied my injured arm with a hiss, resting my head against his shoulder.
"No—NO. Just stop. Let me think." Chris snapped, hands running I've this face as he paced for a moment. Chris slammed the hood with an angry yell, startling me and Jacob. "Arrrrghhh! Okay. Dammit. You're right. You're right, yeah. Yeah, you're right."
"What?" Ryan seemed utterly bewildered with Chris' behavior, brows furrowed as he glanced at us. Chris tossed him the keys to the lodge as he walked past, Ryan successfully grasping them midair.
"Hey Ryan. Come here for a sec." Chris waved the boy over as he clambered into his own car, rolling the window down. Jacob guided me away from the cars towards the others, hand on my back.
"Shit, dude, I'm really fucking sorry, I didn't—"
"It's fine. You didn't know. It's cool. It's cool." I huffed, cutting off his apology. I knew he didn't mean to get me hurt, and it was only a second degree burn. With proper treatment I'd be okay. I was more concerned for Jacob's current emotional status—the guy didn't handle pain and sorrow very well.
I smiled up at Jacob to reassure him when words didn't work, nudging his side with my good arm. "Really, bear, I mean it. I'll be okay." He glanced between both of my grey eyes for a moment before relaxing, his lips forming the tiniest smile.
"Okay."
Jacob is reassured by my kindness and empathy.
"So, what was all of that about?" Dylan's voice drew my attention behind me as Ryan rejoined us, Chris and his car out of sight.
"He uh... said to stay inside. That we're not leaving until the morning." Ryan answered in a slow, uncertain tone, eyes lingering on my burn.
"Are... you kidding me?" Emma scoffed, tossing her hands up with irritation.
"Em..."
"Are you kidding me!? What are we supposed to do?"
"Well, we should go inside. Like he said."
Dylan tilted his head side to side, an inquisitive expression crossing his soft features. "We could go inside. Until morning..."
"Yeah—"
Quickly cutting Ryan off, Dylan smiled mischievously. "Or... Or we could do something else."
"What... are you talking about?"
"No Mr. Hackett. No screaming kids. Just a bunch of grown-ass adults ready to cut loose and get down with their animal side." I deadpanned at this, blinking slowly as I attempted to register what the hell he was going on about. Jacob, however, seemed to both understand and become eager for the idea.
"Ohh, hell yeah."
"P. A. R. T... Why the fuck not!? Alright, it seems like the stars have aligned for us. No?" I sighed through my nose, gnawing at my lower lip anxiously, which did not go unnoticed.
"Okay, okay, okay..." Kaitlyn began to nod thoughtfully, contemplating the tall brunettes offer.
"One last epic bonfire blowout for all time."
"Oh, dude. Fuck yes!" Jacob pumped the air, gesturing to the only Aussie in the group. "I'm in. Nick, you're in."
"Yeah I'm in."
"Dylan's in. Obviously. My man. Kaitlyn?"
After some momentary hesitation and a quick glance around the group, the short Asian woman conceded. "I go where my people need me."
"Yeah! Okay... Em, what do you say?"
"Yeah, I'm in." She grinned, hands on her hips.
"Mr. Hackett seemed pretty insistent we stay in the lodge." Abigail suddenly cut in, dampening my mood further with her voice.
"He was just trying to freak us out. You know, like um... Like one of Ryan's stupid ghost stories."
"Why would he want to scare us?"
Probably because he doesn't fucking like you, Abigail. I hissed in my head, scowling at her from under my long black lashes.
Ryan, looking miffed and uncertain, sighed through his nose apprehensively. "I don't think he was trying to freak us out, Jacob. I think he was really freaked out by something."
"Jesus Christ."
"Chris seemed real serious about this, guys."
Dylan slumped slightly, off put by Ryan's mood dampening behavior. "Just say you're in, man. Come on. One last night. Dude. He won't even know."
"Yeah but I promised, I—"
I had to grab Jacob's arm to stop him from stepping forward with his irritation, encouraging him to just speak calmly. "No no nah, dude, dude. It's all good. Alright, we get it, you know. You, uh... You don't wanna disappoint 'daddy'."
Ryan's eyes narrowed on Jacob and his nose wrinkled at the underhanded remark. "Whatever, man."
Dylan stepped in quickly, attempting to keep the conversation calm. "It's gonna be fine, man. Trust me. It's gonna be chill."
"I'm sure he's just looking out for us. No big deal." Ryan muttered this, mostly to reassure himself.
"Alright. Yeah! Party!" Dylan cheered, grins spreading on the rest of their faces.
"No, I didn't mean—"
Dylan put his hand up for a high five, grinning at the deep-toned male with excitement. "High five—Touch my hand, Ryan."
Ryan hesitated, eying the brunette before glancing at me. I nodded hesitantly, worry still on my mind. With a sigh, he lifted his hand and pressed it against Dylan's. "Alright, fine..."
"But I just want to go on record and say that this is a bad idea."
Jacob deadpanned and shook his head. "Oh my God, dude."
"Ugh. It's gonna be fine, man. Trust me. It's gonna be chill." Dylan did his best to reassure the guy he'd been pinning after half the summer.
Excited once again for tonight's plan, Jacob rubbed his hands together. "Alright, alright, alright, Hacketteers! Party planning committee. Let's do this!"
He gestured to Nick and Abigail, tilting his head side to side. "Um, okay. First things first, Nick and Abi... you go get some firewood. Uh... Emma and I will go to the store for some supplies. And, uh, Dylan, you just... I don't know, figure out how to charge the phones or something..." Dylan and Nick shared a thumbs up with the jock before he clapped his hands. "Alright let's do this!"
Hesitating, I glanced among the group and hit my lip, the buzzing behind my ears urging me to speak up. I could tell them what I'd 'seen' so far—knowing they were likely to listen to it as my clairvoyance was well known—but risk dampening the mood. Or I could keep it to myself and hope that everything would be okay. Besides that, who would I join? Abi and Nick? Dylan, Ryan and Kaitlyn? Emma and Jacob? Or should I find something to do alone?
Wha t would you do?

Tarot Visions:
Temperance
It was dark, the fire lit before me, my friends surrounding me. Jacob tossed a beer can my way, a pocket knife in his outstretched hand. I debated it for a moment as I caught the beverage, then stood and accepted the blade so I could shotgun the beer, pocketing it afterwards.
Strength
I held my breathe, back pressed to a boulder with Abigail beside me, hands over each other's mouths. A silhouette clambered above the boulder beside us, it's glowing red eyes searching the earth, snarling as it's saliva dripped against my shoulder and made me shudder.
Branches:
•Skeptic BFF: Having been best friends with Max and Laura, I knew they weren't okay. With their absence, I grew skeptical of Chris Hackett and his promises.

3 WWF Wrestlers x Fem Reader- "Saturday Night's Alright for Dancin'"
Something for your Saturday night!
______________________________________________________________
At the beginning of 1997, the World Wrestling Federation launched a television wrestling series known as "Shotgun Saturday Night"---a show that aired on Saturday nights that promised to be more adult oriented and edgier than the family friendly WWF of the 1990's (before the Attitude era, of course).
Yeah, kiddos---if you think the entire 90's WWF is the Attitude era, like you could turn on "Monday Night Raw" in 1994 or 1995 and see DX crotch chopping, Stone Cold Steve Austin pissing off Vince McMahon, the Rock trash talking people, the Godfather and his hoe train, you're wrong.
Stone Cold and the Rock weren't even in the WWF in 1994 and 1995.
During a "Shotgun Saturday Night" episode that aired at the beginning of 1997, you were standing on a table in a nightclub where you were wearing a very short, slightly loose fitting nighty with matching panties underneath.
That nighty was so short, it could be a top or a dress.
You were one of those female dancers at the beginning of "Shotgun Saturday Night"---those same female dancers that would have clips of them in D Generation X's titantron, had the Godwinns looking at them and Mankind trying to chat with them.
While you swayed and danced on that table during the episode, Hunter Hearst Helmsley was standing next to the table you were dancing on, where Hunter tried looking up your negligee.
Because you were standing prominently on top of this table that caused you to stand several inches above Hunter, he was taking a look under your dress.
He didn't duck his head under your nighty.
Hunter wasn't the only one standing near you, so was Brian Pillman, where Brian with a smile on his face was looking up your negligee.
Brian---at least the character he played in the WWF---was disappointed you were wearing panties under your dress.
Some other male wrestlers cornered around the table you were dancing on included Billy Gunn, where of course he was happily looking up your nighty with a smile on his face.
Likewise, Billy and Brian were several inches below where you were standing.
Your legs and thighs were far apart as you danced, so Brian, Billy and Hunter could mostly look and check under your negligee.
Brian even asked you to show off your panties, to which one of your hands grabbed your nighty and lifted it up to show off your underwear.
Considering Hunter is rich, he could easily pull some money out and give it to you.
You didn't mind any of these men looking up your nighty---why else would you be a "Shotgun Saturday Night" dancer?
Those 3 wrestlers along with Shawn Michaels (when he didn't have facial hair) were some of the sexiest men in the WWF at the time.
You'd also let Shawn Michaels and some other WWF wrestlers and even some sexy maale wrestlers in ECW and WCW look under your nighty while you danced, and in fact, they have.
This moment of you dancing on "Shotgun Saturday Night" with these men looking up your dress was filmed and broadcast on television.

Memories Aren't Important... Right?
Chapter Two • Virgil
Word count: 2003
MAI...R? chapter collection
First/Previous | Next
-
Virgil wasn't quite sure what to expect from Roman when Patton had said that they hadn't gotten along before, but he really hadn't expected this.
He wasn't quite sure why it bothered him so much. Honestly, it probably shouldn't this much. Why did it matter that Roman was ignoring Virgil?
Roman was a grownass adult, and if gold didn't want to even look at Virgil then that was just fine. It was… fine.
Virgil scowled and resisted the urge to turn his head and scream into his pillow.
It didn't even matter. Roman could hate him. Ah, but that was the problem, wasn't it? Roman didn't hate Virgil, if gold did, Virgil could deal with that, and while it wouldn't be ideal, it would be okay. But Roman was ignoring Virgil, and that… that was something that Virgil really couldn't cope with.
Virgil was already enough of a people pleaser, but when someone was ignoring him, he got almost desperate.
He didn't even know what he'd done to make Roman not be able to look at him, let alone not have an actual conversation with him.
Virgil had an idea, a stupid one, but an idea none the less. Perhaps he could get Roman to hate him, or at least be pissy at him. Sure, it'd be negative attention, but it'd be better than no attention. It'd be better than the head-jerks away so Roman didn't have to look at him, it'd be better than the obvious seat changing so they weren't on the same section of couch. It would be better than the cold space between them.
He'd seen Roman banter with Remus yesterday, it wouldn't, couldn't be that hard to say similar stuff and then just… take it a bit too far.
Virgil threw up his hood, leaving his room with his new plan in mind, and walked down the stairs, seeing Roman and Patton on the couch.
Patton looked up from the cartoon that was playing on the TV and waved at Virgil.
Virgil gave a small wave back, trying —and failing— not to let Roman's obvious ignoring get to him.
Maybe Virgil wouldn't say the borderline mean stuff in front of Patton though. That was a surefire way to get the 'I'm disappointed in you' look, and a mini lecture, and there's no way Virgil could survive those. He'd crumble for sure.
"Good afternoon," Virgil tried but Roman pretended not to hear him and just continued to stare at the TV. Virgil stuffed his hands in his pockets.
Patton sighed and turned the TV off. "Kiddo…"
"You're right, Patton!" Roman forcefully exclaimed. "We should take a screen break."
"Roman, that's not what I meant, and you know it."
"Yeah, King. You scared of me or something?"
Roman pursed his lips, finally looking at Virgil, perhaps for the first time since this whole mess started. "I'm not scared of you, you're just like an emo racoon. The worst you could do would be to get on the cast of The Walking Dead."
"Hey!"
"Alright, Roman. That's enough. You two need to stop fighting."
"We're not even fighting! I just stand here and King either ignores me or insults me."
"Okay, Roman, stop antagonizing Virgil."
"But—"
"Actually, you know what? I was going to go grocery shopping, but why don't you two go instead," Despite the wording being that of a question, Patton said it very much like a statement. They were going to the store, whether they really wanted to or not.
"Shouldn't that have been a question, Pat?" Virgil nervously asked.
"It really wasn't."
"Oh, well… I mean, if you're gonna make us, fine." Virgil turned to Roman. "I'll meet you out at Jan's car."
"No way! We're driving my car!"
"Pff, like I'd trust you to drive."
As it turned out, Virgil had to trust Roman to drive as Janus wouldn't let him borrow his car, claiming that he might need it. He probably just thought it was funny that Roman got to drive.
But whatever, it didn't matter. Roman seemed to drive safe enough, although Virgil was still a bit anxious, he always was in cars, even if the other person was as careful as possible.
Somehow, they made it to the store, and after a brief argument over who got to push the cart —Virgil won—, they began walking through the store, getting the stuff on their list, and maybe some that wasn't (but they weren't about to admit that).
"Ooh, we should get some Pop-Tarts."
"It's not on the list, and besides, I've already let you get like, three things that's not on the list already."
Roman scoffed. "And I've already sung your praises for that."
"You didn't even thank me directly! You just put it in the cart and said 'thanks for not being a complete stuck up, I guess.'. That doesn't even really count!"
"I… well, what? Do you expect me to literally fall to my knees in praise?"
"No! Just a simple thank you would be fine."
"So I can get some Pop-Tarts?" Roman asked, holding up a box.
Virgil sighed. "If you share, and say thank you."
"Ugh, fine. Simple thank you."
"That's—" Virgil took a deep breath. "Fine, whatever, just get them."
"Yes!"
"But you have to give half of them to Remus."
"No!"
"Yes."
"Ugh, fine. I guess I'll just have to get two boxes and then it'll be half."
"No."
"Ugh, you never let me do anything."
"King, this isn't even our money."
"Oh, yeah. Wait, is Logan or Janus paying this time?"
"Janus, why— oh, yeah, fine. Get both."
"Yes!"
Virgil cleared his throat, trying not to let the small smile that threatened to break out take over.
"He has like, what, thousands at this point?" Roman offhandedly asked.
"Millions actually."
"What! That's ridiculous. I see why you're fine getting a few extra things."
"Yep," Virgil said, popping the 'p'.
"I wonder if he'll buy me a new phone."
"Wow, just use him, why don't you?"
"Okay!"
"No, that's not— ugh, whatever."
Roman was completely and utterly hopeless.
-
It was now the next day, Monday, and Virgil hadn't slept well, what with procrastinating on bedtime until four AM, and then waking up at seven AM for absolutely no reason. He tried not to seem too grumpy, but he was also trying to save his energy for when he'd need to teach some kids the piano.
It was times like this that'd made him glad he'd spend so much time around kids growing up —being the town babysitter and all—, so surely he could handle a few kids for the afternoon. Besides, how advanced could they be? He'd probably just watch them plunk along and gently correct them a lot.
So, the thing that actually was going to be a problem was transportation. Patton and Janus had both already left by the time Virgil was awake enough to consider asking for a ride, and not only did Logan not have a car —and was apparently banned from driving—, but he had already left with Janus as they worked together.
Remus was still here but had also been banned from driving (his driver's license had actually been taken away, unlike Logan, who still had his for emergencies), which only left Roman, because of course.
Now Virgil would have to beg and/or bribe gold into taking him. Which he really wasn't looking forward to.
Virgil walked into the kitchen where Roman was eating a bagel and staring off into space.
"Um… hey, King."
"Actually, it's your royal majesty."
"Ugh, no. First of all, it'd be 'your majesty' and second, that's just your last nam— you know what, it doesn't matter. Are you busy?"
Roman ate the last bite and looked at Virgil suspiciously, chewing for a moment before shallowing and saying, "No, why?"
"Just…" Virgil sighed. "Just wondering if maybe… you could drive me to the music store where I work. That's all."
"Sure!"
Virgil squinted in suspicion. "Wait, really?"
"Yep! It's not like you have any other choice and you probably had a lot of anxiety about asking me. I don't need to be a jerk on top of that."
"Well, I don't know about a lot…"
"Mm, right," Roman said, clearly not believing him. "Besides, I have nothing better to do and I wanna see where you work."
Ah, so that's what the catch was. "Please don't embarrass me in front of my boss! ...Whoever they are."
"Oh, I wouldn't dream of it."
Much to absolutely no one's surprise, Roman did in fact, dream of it.
First suspicious action was that Roman went in with Virgil and couldn't be talked out of it. Which would've been fine, except Virgil knew gold was up to something. There was no way that he wasn't going to do or say something, even if gold hadn't planned so, but Virgil was almost certainly sure that he did have a plan.
"Ah! Hello!" Roman boomed and Virgil had to resist the urge to groan. "Are you the owner of this fine establishment?"
"No," Said the young woman behind the cabinet, her expression nothing but pure amusement. Virgil quickly read her name tag that said 'Hello! My name is Camilla'. "Why're you looking for Mr. Brennan?"
"I just wanted to tell him what a fine employee Virgil is!"
"Oh my god, please don't," Virgil said, absolutely not begging… yet anyway. "I swear to god if you get me fired—"
"Aww, I'm not just gonna fire you out of nowhere, Virgil," A middle aged man said as he walked out of the back of the shop. "I've known you for too long for that."
"Oh! Mr. Brennan, um… hello."
"Hey, kid."
Roman sent a brief questioning glance at Virgil.
"Oh! Right. This is Roman, and Roman, this is my band teacher, er, was my band teacher, I guess."
"Eh, once your band teacher, always your band teacher." Mr. Brennan extended his hand to Roman. "Nice to meet you, Roman."
"Nice to meet you too, sir!" Roman firmly shook Mr. Brennan's hand.
Virgil was just about to rush Roman along to get gold to leave when a young boy ran out of a side room. "Mr. Virgil!"
"Oh, um… hello."
"I practiced the warm-ups just like you always tell me to."
"Uh, good job! I'll be right there, okay?"
"Okay, Mr. Virgil! Bye, Mr. Virgil!" The kid ran back to what must've been the music room.
"Inside feet!" Virgil called after the boy, who instantly slowed down. Virgil blinked, not even quite sure where he'd gotten that phrase. Maybe it was a subconscious habit from a time he couldn't remember.
"Kids are always trying to get everywhere fast, huh?" Mr. Brennan asked.
Virgil huffed lightly. "Sure are. They'll slow down though."
Mr. Brennan hummed.
"Well," Roman began, "It was lovely to meet you, sir, but I should be on my way. I'm sure you both have things to do as well."
"Nice to meet you too, Roman. Feel free to stop by again!"
"Yes, sir!"
Well, that hadn't gone completely, horrible wrong.
"Oh, I should go help…" —Shit, Virgil didn't know his name— "The kid with his lesson.
"Yes, you should, now shoo! Go away, you bother me," Mr. Brennan jokingly said.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm going, old man," Virgil teased. Damn, it was nice to see a familiar face.
"Old man!" Mr. Brennan exclaimed, shaking his head, and went back to the backroom where Virgil could spot some instruments in the process of being repaired.
Virgil smirked at Mr. Brennan's antics, and started towards the music room, catching Roman standing in his peripheral.
"Goodbye, Virgilius!"
"Not my name!" Virgil called behind him, rolling his eyes.
"Ah yes, my most sincere apologies, Lord Virgilius! Anyway, have fun being a music nerd."
"I will!"
Roman stopped for a moment and Virgil turned, an eyebrow raised questionatively.
"Uh, in all seriousness, good luck."
"I— thanks."
Maybe Roman wasn't quite as hopeless as Virgil had initially thought.

Security Breach x Facepainter reader. The reader’s job is to face paint children and they’re near the mazercise so they’re constantly around Chica. They see that Chica and the other animatronics looks bland and decide to paint details on them. (Chica’s face triangle things, Montgomery’s spots, Freddy’s lightning bolt, Roxy’s face stripes, etc)
"Now why would they stick me here? Kids are just gonna sweat off the makeup after they run.." You muttered quietly as you put away the color palettes, wrapping up your shift for the day.
There was a lot of things that didn't make sense about this place. Like why your booth was stationed next to Mazercise or how eating tons of junk food just to burn it off was a healthy form of exercise. People could very well do that just by walking around the mall without buying a pass.
Then again it was the discounts that reeled them in. It always worked.
Still, you were a bit disheartened to see your last customer walk into that attraction with their face painted like Glamrock Freddy...only to come out looking like a red and blue tie dye shirt.
But you didn't let that deter you. Hell no. You actually liked working at Mega Pizzaplex and didn't plan on going anywhere anytime soon.
You liked working as a facepainter; it's been a lifelong hobby. After years of practice and doing this kind of stuff for birthday parties and whatnot, you now got to share your talent with Fazbear Entertainment.
While some kids were fidgety, a majority of them adored your work and were well-behaved.
The smiles on their faces when you held up the mirror?
Priceless.
Simply priceless.
Sure, a STAFF bot could do a million times better than you with far steadier hands.
But did they take the same amount of time that you did to perfect your skills? No. They just had some circuits rewired and codes inputted into software. There's no passion. No thought. No emotion behind their work. Just taking orders as they're programmed to do.
"Hello, [y/n]! Something on your mind? You wanna come exercise at the Mazercise?"
After covering the board with a tarp, you turned around and saw Glamrock Chica leave her attraction, smiling at you. Of course you'd see her more often than any other animatronic. You often forget just how incredibly advanced she is, talking to you like a longtime friend. She was so bright and full of energy all the time. You envied that a little.
"No, I'm good, Chica." You politely declined, a small smile on your face. "Just packing up for the day."
"Aww, going so soon? Well I saw lots of kiddos painted like me! You do an amazing job!" She giggled, bouncing on her heels.
"Yeah well, I try my best." As you talked to her, you couldn't help but notice the lack of details on her own face. Her designers put more effort into her outfit than anything else.
You could say the same with the other animatronics. They seemed to be missing something.
"Can you paint me?"
"...wait, huh?" You were bewildered. Did she read your mind? "I would but...I'm not really supposed to without permission. And this paint washes off of skin easily, but if I mess up I don't know if-"
"Don't worry about messing up, sweetie. It makes it more special coming from you than some silly STAFF bot." She reassured you. "I trust you."
"Oh, I..appreciate that. So what do you have in mind?"
"Nothing complicated. I just...feel like my face could use a little "pizazz". And I think you can help!" She eagerly sat in the rickety chair, with the same enthusiasm as all those little kids before her had. "If higher-ups give you flack, I'll deal with 'em. Just do your worst.....o-or best, rather."
Nodding, you got out your palettes and approached her, studying her face for inspiration. She already had dark pink lipstick on her beak, and a ring of lighter pink around one of her eyes. But you thought she could use some symmetry.
In the end, you gave her cheeks two elongated pink triangles on each side. They weren't perfectly shaped, which you feared would make her upset, though after showing her the mirror she was in love with her new looks.
"Omg it's wonderful, [y/n]!!!! Thank you!! What about my friends?"
"O-Oh, them too? I don't know and I don't feel like hiking around the mall to-" You began.
"They're all in Rockstar Row. C'mon! Before they head back to their rooms!" Chica was quick to sprint up from her seat, dashing away as the ground shook with her footsteps.
You couldn't disappoint her, so you took your palettes with you and followed her downstairs to Rockstar Row.
Fortunately, all the Glamrocks were there and saw what you painted on Chica. They rushed out of their rooms, lining up in front of you to have their faces painted. Monty and Roxanne pushed each other while Freddy stood in the back with a patient smile.
You were surprised they wanted you to do this. But you weren't complaining. All you could do was hope they liked your ideas. You wanted them to be impressed.
For Roxy, you painted black tiger-like stripes on both sides of her face, which made her feel more fierce when looking into the mirror.
Monty had dark green scaly spots on his cheeks and arms. You would've done them in more detail but he was fidgeting around a lot, so you were quick.
And Freddy had a simple blue stripe on his chin that connected to the lightning bolt symbol on his chest. You made sure not to get anything on his bowtie, and he was happy with the results.
You remembered what Chica said about those STAFF bots, and...
Maybe you can give them a little "pizazz", too, if management was alright with it.
But that'll be for another day. You considered this shift one well spent: The Glamrocks adored their touch-ups, and a sweet food-loving chicken gave you the encouragement to provide them.
Yeah, you wouldn't trade this job for the world.

VN blinks. "The deviant was an AP400 model, a caretaker. It lived here with it's owners." Gavin looks up at (Y/N). "And how do you know that?" He ponders aloud. "I analyzed a sample of thiruim, there," She says, pointing to the floor. Gavin cringes. "That's fuckin' gross." He murmers. "The deviant was injured. It's blood was mixed with the victims, meaning, it couldn't have gotten far." (Y/N) explains. "We should proceed to the station to interrogate the survivors." She says. "I thought you said we needed to collect evidence." Gavin says, crossing his arms as he stands. "We have gathered enough information from this location." (Y/N) concludes. Gavin laughs, mockingly. "Look at you, smarty pants." Gavin teases, getting a confused blank expression from the android. "Never-fucking-mind. Let's go, dipshit." Gavin growls, walking out. (Y/N) hesitates, wanting to ask him if he was angry with her. That didn't matter. Why did she care?

Gavin walks through the automatic doors of the DPD. He heads by his terminal throwing his keys on the desktop. Hank watches the two walk back in. "Hello again, (Y/N)." Connor says, nodding at her. He smiled. VN nods at him. Androids weren't programmed to smile. Where they? "Good afternoon, Connor." She says, flatly. Hank snorts, grabbing her attention. "I fail to see what is humorous about our interaction, Lieutenant." She says, eyeing Anderson. Hank raises his hands as if he were surrendering, turning back to his computer. "Fuckin' androids." He mutters. "Would you hurry the fuck up? I don't have all day." Gavin says, impatiently tapping is foot on the floor. "Yes, detective." (Y/N) obeys. Connor's LED swirls yellow as he watches her go. "I have an unknown feeling." Connor says to Hank. "I think you may be worried, kiddo." Hank says, frowning. "And you wanna know somethin'?" Hank says, leaning towards Connor. "Me too."
Gavin huffs, slumping down in his desk chair, spinning around mindlessly. (Y/N) watches him, eyes following him as he spins. Gavin stops, glaring at her. "What did I say about the fuckin' staring, tin can?" He complains. "I apologize." VN says, looking somewhere else for his comfort. "Fuck it." Gavin announces. "I'm going home." He says, getting up from his chair. "I beleive we still have work to do, detective." VN says, her LED swirling blue. "Yeah well, Fowler can bitch at me tomorrow about it." He says, walking past her. VN quickly follows him. "I do not believe it is wise to leave your work unfinished." She says, referring to the stack of paperwork on his desk. She watches him swipe his card to clock out. He doesn't say away but holds his middle fingers up at her, with a strange expression. VN watches him exit. Her LED swirls yellow.

(Y/N) walks through the automatic doors, following Gavin out to his car. Gavin glances over his shoulder, seeing her following him. He groans, stopping at his car. "What do you want?" He demands, unlocking his car. She stands on the other side of his car.
"I was assigned to help and assist you. I do not think leaving work to drink is a good idea, so I will be going with you to the bar." VN says, opening the car door and getting inside. Gavin stands there, mouth open. "Wait a damn minute." He protests, bending down to look at her sitting in the car. "You ain't doing shit! Get the fuck out." He orders. "I'm afriad I cannot comply, sir. According to your current physical and mental health, drinking alone could put you in danger." VN says, maintaining eyecontact. "Get out." Gavin says again. He wants to pull out his gun and shoot her brains out but something in him doesn't have the strength too. He's tired.
Yet another silent drive. Gavin's radio is turned up on a dangerously high level. VN isn't bothered but is worried about the effect on her partners ears. She concludes it is best to not comment, due to his recent outbursts. Gavin pulls up to Jimmy's, a local bar, and parks his car. Gavin opens the car door, putting his keys in his jacket. VN exits after locking the car doors. She walks behind the detective, deducting that he didn't want her by his side. She notices the package of cigarettes sticking out of his pocket. She assumes he has a lighter as well, somewhere on his person.

VN stops analyzing as they enter the bar. Gavin exhales, pretending he isn't being followed by a tin can. (Y/N) looks around. It's dimly lit, quiet. Music plays and it smells of alcohol, cigarettes, and cigars. She puts her hands behind her back, following Gavin to the bar. He pulls out a stool, hopping on top. A bartender, assumed to be Jimmy, saunters over to her partner. VN stands close to a wall, analyzing every detail of the bar. "Hey, kid." Jimmy says to Gavin. VN attempts to give Gavin privacy with the bartender but can't exactly turn off her sensors. " 'Sup." Gavin sighs, leaning against the bar. Jimmy chuckles, glancing at the out of place android against the wall. "That yours?" He teases, gesturing to (Y/N). "Don't give me that, J." Gavin scoffs. Jimmy laughs, boisterously. Gavin can't help but smile a little. Jimmy was pretty cool and he gave great philosophical advice.
"Watcha want to drink, son?" Jimmy asks, turning to the wall of drinks. "Brandy on the rocks." Gavin says, pulling out his box of cigarettes and his lighter. Jimmy sighs. "Rough day, huh." He says, pouring his drink. (Y/N) watches carefully. She started to get an unknown sensation across multiple sensors in her being. She scanned herself for malfunction or errors. Nothing. VN tilts her head to herself. What was that sensation? It wasn't an error or a malfunction? Possibly a glitch. She shakes it off watching the detective. The sensation returns. She attempts to flush her systems, but it remains. She ignores it, concluding it was a glitch. "You can say that again." Gavin says. Jimmy slides him his drink watching him closely. "You look tired, kiddo." Jimmy comments, leaning against the other side of the countertop. Gavin chuckles. "Everyone says that. I'm fine, J." Gavin lies. "C'mon, Gavin. Talk to me. It's a slow night." Jimmy pries. Gavin sighs, lighting the cigarette between his fingers. He raises it to his lips, taking a drag. He looks down at his drink.
VN glances around the room, unintentionally listening. The sensation had left. She wasn't alive. She couldn't feel. It was a simple glitch. "It's been hard without him." Gavin says, taking a sip of his brandy. This peaks VN's intrest. "I know. You seem to care about him a lot." Jimmy responds. He must know more than she knows about the situation. Gavin glances at the android that accompanied him, downing his drink. Jimmy sighs again. "Is that thing givin' you trouble?" He asks, grabbing the glass to refill it. Gavin takes another drag of his cigarette. "Yeah it is. Fuckin' Fowler assigned it to me or whatever." Gavin says, words full of spite. VN feels the sensation return. Her LED blinks yellow.

(Y/N) blinks, LED pulsing red. She straightens her posture, ignoring the sensation, yet again. Jimmy nods, following Gavin's story. Gavin takes a swig of his drink again. "You two get along?" Jimmy asks, tapping on the counter behind him. "Fuck no." Gavin snickers. Jimmy smiles, almost sadly. "The things been following me around like a dog. Gets on my fuckin' nerves." Gavin sighs, finishing his second glass. (Y/N) notes his blood alcohol content. Jimmy grins at the detective. "Maybe she's there to help you. Ever thought about it that way?" J asks, grabbing his empty glass again, pausing. "Oh, that's utter bullshit. Don't side with them, Jimmy." Gavin spits, putting out his cigarette in the ashtray on the bar. "I'm only sayin', maybe it's there for a reason, kid. You look like shit. It could help you, y'know." Jimmy shrugs, filling his glass again. Gavin snorts, feeling the buzz kick it. "Thanks, J. How nice." Gavin teases. "Give it a chance, Gav." Jimmy pushes. "No way in hell am I trusting a piece of plastic." Gavin argues, gladly accepting his third drink. (Y/N) decides to step in. "Detective," She starts. "Fuck off." Gavin grits, waving his hand at her. Jimmy watches the two. "I beleive you've had enough." She states, hands behind her back still. "This is only my third so fuck off." Gavin growls. He usually had a better alcohol tolerance but not today.
"Your BAC is nine point two and increasing. This can impair your judgement and functioning." (Y/N) says. Gavin laughs. "You're not my babysitter, tin can." He says, lifting the glass to his lips. VN snatches the glass out of his hand, putting it on the bar. "What the fuck?" Gavin hollers, clambering out of his chair, almost falling in the process. "The alcohol had already taken affect, impairing your vital judgment. It is time to leave, sir." (Y/N) says, sternly. Her LED blinks yellow, analyzing his next move. Gavin reaches for his gun, which VN anticipated. She reaches forwards, knocking the gun out of his hands. "Hey, hey, hey!" Jimmy shouts. "No blood on my floor!" He says. A few people have formed a crowd around Gavin and the android. "Detective, we are leaving." (Y/N) says, picking his gun off the floor and pocketing it. "You fuckin' piece of shit," Gavin slurs. "You think you came come in and- and fuckin' steal my job, huh?" He raises his voice, grabbing her by her uniform again. (Y/N) looks down at him. She notes the pain, evident behind is glassy eyes.
○ Let Detective Reed continue
□ Render Detective Reed unconscious
■ Render Detective Reed unconscious
"Detective, I apologize, but this is for your own good." She says, gaining a confused look from Gavin. She presses her fingers into the point where his neck and shoulder meet. Gavin crumbles to the ground, (Y/N) catching him before he hits the ground. VN wraps his limp arm over her shoulders, hoisting him up. "I apologize, sir." She says to Jimmy. "Eh, don't worry about it. His drinks were on the house anyway." Jimmy says, waving her off. "Take care of him, okay?" Jimmy says. (Y/N)'s thiruim pump falters for a moment, catching her off guard. She scans herself again, not finding anything wrong. The crowd had disappeared, seeing that there would be no fight. She gives Jimmy at curt nod before bascially dragged her partner out the door.
(Y/N) had successfully put Gavin in the passenger seat, starting his car. She pulls out into the road. She had located the detective's apartment, following the coordinates. Once she arrives, Gavin is still unconscious. She drags him out of the car. It would be easier to carry him in her arms, so she does. Walking up several flights of stairs, she reaches his apartment door. She glances down at the keys on his key ring and then at the lock, analyzing the differnt key prongs and the internal structure of the lock. She selects the correct key, unlocking the door. Several cats, greet her at the door. A Burmese and a Chartreux cat. They purr and meow at her as she closes the door. (Y/N) scans the apartment. It's quite messy. The trash seems as if it hasn't been taken out in weeks, pizza boxes litter the counter and differnt files and papers litter the living room. (Y/N) contiunes, walking into Gavin's bedroom. Clothes cover the floor, along with an unmade bed. She sets her partner in the bed. She surveys the room again, finding the comforter on the ground. She nods to herself.
(Y/N) carefully removes his jacket, hanging it on a hook behind his bedroom door. She covers him with the comforter, studying him. He seems peaceful. His face, relaxed. No tension is held between is eyebrows. She tilts her head, reaching towards his face. There it is. The strange sensation in her sensors. She gently brushes his hair out of his eyes, almost mesmerized by how peaceful he is, compared to when he's consious. (Y/N) quickly pulls away as he rolls over in the bed, grunting in his sleep. She looks around his room again. It was very unorganized. She walks over to his half empty dresser, pushing the folded clothes back in order. She closes the drawers, gently. VN then, straightens the differnt colognes and pictures frames on his dresser. One catches her eyes. A picture of, what she assumes is Gavin as a teen, and another male. She tilts her head, the male seeming familiar. She straightens the frame, ignoring it.
VN picks up the dirty clothes off the floor, placing them in the hamper in the corner of Gavin's room. She could see the floor now. She turns off the lamp on his nightstand, straightening the things on top if it as well. She looks around the mostly clean room, leaving Gavin's room. She then drags the overflowing laundry basket out of his room. She closes the door behind her, seeing his cats staring at her. She looks down at the Burmese one as it rubs against her leg. She watches them pad off into another room. (Y/N) looks down the short hallway seeing the bathroom. She peeks inside. It was spotless. Strange. She walks into an empty room, what she assumes to be a guest room. It holds nothing. She walks out, going back to the main living room. Papers, magazines, files, newspapers. You name it. She grabs the file box in the couch, picking up all the papers and files, organizing them alphabetically. It took all but thirty minutes an twenty seconds. She puts the file box beside the couch. She puts all of the magazines and newspapers neatly on the coffee table. She picks up all of the empty and half empty coffee mugs, placing them softly in the sink. She would load his dishwasher later.
(Y/N) straightens his crooked TV on the wall. She then proceeds to organize his movies by type, then alphabetically. The living room was finished. She clicks on the lamp, closing the curtains. The sun was setting outside. It was six twenty-two. Androids didn't need sleep but she decided that when she finishes she would enter low-power mode to pass the time. She heads to the kitchen. It was filthy. (Y/N)'s LED circles blue. She grabs all of the dishes that were dirty and puts them neatly in the dishwasher. She puts the soap in, turning it on. She grabs a trash bag, placing the numerous empty pizza boxes inside. She empties the trash putting the bags by the front door. The cats come back in, hearing her working. "Hello." (Y/N) says, kneeling beside the cats. She looks at their collars. Coco and Bean. Who knew the detective liked cats, owned them, and gave them matching names. (Y/N) stands, beginning to wipe down the countertops, that were dusty and covering in crumbs. She puts the leftover pizza that wasn't old or moldy in the almost empty refrigerator. She rolls up her jacket sleeves disinfecting the grime in the sink. She notices his landlines blinking on the counter. She lets the chemical sit in the sink, walking over to the phone. Twenty new messages from the same number with the name Eli. She concludes it would be best to leave them be.
(Y/N) had loaded the washing machine with Gavin's dirty clothes. She had taken the towel from the dryer and folded them neatly, placing them in the linen closet. She rinses the sink next. Spotless. The apartment looked organized and neat. Nothing like the detective from the outside. It was currently twelve forty three. She blinks, hearing the dishwasher stop. She unloads it putting the coffe mugs, plates and utensils back in their respective places. Ealier, she had hauled the trash down to the dumpster behind the apartment complex. She was satisfied with the outcome.
(Y/N) completed all of the detective's laundry leaving it neatly folded ontop of the washer and dryer. She didn't want to disturb his slumber by putting away his clothes. She was finished. VN puts the detective's gun in a drawee in the kitchen. She walks over to the couch, sitting down. The cats jumps up, one testing in her lap and the other lying down beside her. She was interested in why the cats liked her so much. She'd have to research it later. She decided to enter low-power mode.
