MASTERLIST (and information about Palestine) Please read!
SYNOPSIS: You and Ellie had been bitter enemies for years now but before that you were best friends. You had always planned to be roommates one day but when that becomes a reality the situation isn't exactly how you both imagined it.

“Fuck I am so tired. I’ve been twenty for three weeks and I swear I’m deteriorating already.”
“Ellie you are such a drama queen, you’re just tired because you actually ran laps with the group today.” Training with the group had been going well for the most part but watching Ellie come back breathless and rosy cheeked, though in better shape than the teenagers that followed after her, was the highlight for you.
“Can’t believe you made me do that.”
“You were being naughty and you know I don’t tolerate bad behaviour.”
“I smacked your ass once and none of them even saw. You are so mean to me.”
“Stop sulking, besides, would you have preferred to stay behind with Amber?”
“Okay fair enough, how was that by the way?” Your mind cast back to the memory of your altercation with Amber and left a sour taste in your mouth.
“Amber, can you stay behind please?”
“Why?” She snipped at you with a scowl.
“Because I said so.” You grit as Ellie stifles a laugh. Ellie had been on a mission today to annoy you as much as humanely possible, lovingly but still, she had succeeded. She had done so well that she was now jogging away with the other trainees after you banished her. When they had all been doing target practise she snuck up behind you and landed a harsh slap on your ass that was so loud it was almost audible over the repetitive gunfire. You yelped and rubbed at the sore skin while sneering at her as she laughed.
“Sorry babe, you know I love your ass too much to keep my hands off, you should’ve seen the way it jiggled.” She went to reach for it again but you slapped her hand away and huffed, only making her laugh more, you glanced at the group and when all of their heads remained facing away from you, you breathed a sigh of relief.
“You are such a little shit, you’re running laps with the others while I talk to Amber.”
“What?! No way.”
“Yes way, I’ve had enough of you today.”
“Oh come on babe don’t be like that.”
“Too late and if you don’t go, no sex for a month.”
“You’re joking.”
“Wanna fuck around and find out?” She huffed and called the rest of the group over to announce the badly received news of their impending laps around the town. You almost regretted your decision when you were left alone with Amber, her attitude making you want to throttle it out of her.
“I wanted to have a chat because I want to see what we can do to be better supporting you to get you up to standard for patrol.”
“Excuse me? Why are you only asking me?”
“This isn’t an attack Amber, this is for your safety but you aren’t progressing at the same rate as the others and I don’t want to see you fall behind.”
“You’re just picking on me because you have it out for me so don’t give me all of that caring bullshit because I see right through it.” She hissed, you bit your tongue and took a deep breath, desperately trying to keep your cool.
“Amber, your aim with a gun is nowhere near the standards of the others, you can’t hold your own in a fight even with one of the other girls, you struggle in the drills, you don’t understand tracking and you never know any of the answers to the questions we ask about survival tactics. I’m not picking on you, I’m stating a fact.” It was harsh but she needed to hear it. “I am willing, and so is Ellie, to put in extra hours with you to help but we can only help if you let us and stop being so stubborn.”
“I’ll do the extra hours with Ellie but I’m not spending anymore time with you than I have to.” You snickered at her comment, a wave of insecurity crashing over her features. You’d happily let Ellie take her for the extra training, you trusted her with your life but then Amber would be getting her way and you just weren’t willing to let that happen.
“Not gonna happen, nice try though.” You were going to leave it there but that eye roll and pout of her lip just sent you over the edge as you stormed over to her, closing the distance between you both. “Do you think I don’t notice your blatant flirting with my girlfriend? Do you think it’s going to get you anywhere? We live together, we have a child together, and when we go home together after training we laugh at your pathetic attempts on her. Stop being fucking delusional and get over yourself. I’m here to train you, not to be your friend so you either sort yourself out or I’ll tell Maria you’re not fit for patrol and she’ll find you some other boring job in Jackson.” She gulped and her eyes developed a glassy film. You had taken it too far but you were getting sick of her and she had just pushed you one too many times. “Now go home and come back tomorrow with a better fucking attitude because if you think I’m above kicking your ass you’re sorely mistaken. You saw how quick I took Harvey down, do you really think I wouldn’t crush you in a second?” She scowled at you before storming off, not quick enough that you didn’t see the fear in her eyes though.
“Ugh she’s just- it was as expected. We argued, I scared the shit out of her and she ran away with her tail between her legs, she’ll be the exact same tomorrow. Same shit, different day.”
“Damn, I don’t understand what her problem is.”
“I do, she doesn’t like me because of us and because I have a position of authority over her, she’s the weakest of the group and it makes her insecure and I’m the only one that will call her out on it.” You eye Ellie pointedly as she smiles sheepishly.
“I can take the next lecture, promise babe.”
“Eh she won’t even listen to you because she’ll be too busy ogling you.”
“Damn I’m feeling really objectified right now.”
“Oh shut up, you love it.”
“I only love the attention when it comes from you but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make me feel good about myself.” She smiles smugly as she wraps an arm around your waist pulling you snug to her hip as she presses a kiss to your temple with a quiet chuckle.
“Who would’ve thought I’d be the scary one out of us?” You chuckle but it dies in your throat as she quirks an eyebrow at you as if your question was entirely absurd.
“Err everyone. You’re scary.”
“I am not!” You pinch her side and she squirms away from you with a hiss.
“You so are, it’s not a bad thing but you are terrifying. Do i need to remind you about you being a jailbird? My girlfriend is a convict, that’s scary, hot but scary.” You roll your eyes as the school comes into view and the bustle of parents awaiting their children is accompanied by the deafening squeals and yells of children bounding out of the gates like a stampede. You both stop and hold hands as you wait for Clem’s beaming face to come into view.
You crane your neck looking for the strawberry blonde locks until they catch your eye causing a smile to grace your features. Ellie had already released your hand to kneel down in preparation for Clem’s leap into her arms that had become customary when you would pick her up. You both exchange looks of concern when her face remains angled towards the floor and she trudges over to you both dragging her feet. You immediately move towards her and bend down in front of her as Ellie joins you seconds later, cupping her cheeks you angle her face to meet yours and the sight sends shockwaves through you. Her face was red and blotchy, the remnants of tears evident all over her cheeks but what struck you both more was the slightly raised red mark on her cheek that looked like the precursor of a bruise.
“Baby who did this to you?” Your voice was frantic as tears welled in your eyes at her sadness, it was the kind of sadness you hadn’t seen in her since the day you found her, the memory of that day cursed you and filled you with a rage you had never experienced before. She had been so excited for school this morning, it was show and tell and she had brought in a painting that her and Ellie had created with the watercolours you had gifted Ellie for her birthday, it was a replica of a polaroid taken on Ellie’s birthday of the three of you, Ellie holding Clem with her free arm around your waist as you all beamed at the camera. She had rushed you both out the door and practically skipped the whole way to school, babbling about how much she loved it and how interesting all her classes were and now she was sniffling and hurt, her entire demeanour oozing the pain she was in. You were so focused on the sorrow on her features you barely remembered asking her who caused her it until she answered you.
“T-Timmy.” Her voice was meek and quiet, the opposite of how it typically was as she sniffled and wiped at her eyes before wincing as she accidentally pressed on the welt forming underneath.
“What happened kiddo?” Ellie’s voice was calm, unlike yours but the scowl on her face gave her true feelings away.
“He made fun of me for having two mommies, so I told him he was ugly and smelly, because he is, then he hit me and pushed me in front of everyone. Please can we go home?” Every part of you wanted to chase Timmy and his parents down for what they had taught their child but Clem came first and she wanted to go home so that’s what you’d do.
Clem perked up quick enough, after dancing to her favourite record with you both and doing some painting with Ellie while you prepared dinner, she seemed almost normal again though it was clear what happened today was playing on her mind as she looked up from the table with glassy eyes.
“Why are people mean about you? I don’t understand, you’re the best mommies. Do they hate me?”
“Oh baby, no one hates you, you’re our perfect angel, don’t ever have thoughts like that, ever, okay?” Ellie was the first to speak as she noticed the slight gape of your mouth though you snapped back into action when Clem turned to you expectantly.
“Some people just don’t like that me and mama love each other. They don’t like that me and mama are young as well and we were so lucky to find you and make you a part of our family. They’re jealous and silly and I promise it’s nothing to do with you. I swear Timmy nor anyone is ever going to lay a finger on you again baby, some people are just silly and mean, do you understand?” She nods with a small smile before going back to eating as Ellie looks at you silently communicating the plan you knew you both had.
“Clemmy, I’ve gotta go out for a little bit but I promise I’ll be back in time to say goodnight, okay?” Ellie stands and presses a kiss to Clem’s forehead as she strokes the soft hair on her head.
“Okay Mama, I’ll miss you.”
“Oh you know I’ll always miss you more.” You stand and follow Ellie to the door kissing her sweetly before she ducks out leaving you and Clem to start her bedtime routine alone.
After her bath and three different books, Clem’s eyes were drooping and the yawn she tried and failed to hide was evident she’d be asleep soon. The sound of the door opening and closing let you relax and as Ellie walked in taking her place next to you at Clem’s bedside you smiled. She pressed a kiss to the girl's forehead. Clem cupped Ellie’s cheeks as she lazily opened her eyes smiling giddily, the love that was radiating from both of them warmed you, your heart sang, you could watch them forever and be perfectly happy with that. You were so wrapped up in your thoughts you didn’t notice them both turning to face you.
“Can you both cuddle me until I fall asleep?”
“Of course baby.” Ellie climbed over Clem’s body as you laid down on the other side of her. Clem cuddles into your chest as Ellie wraps her arm over the both of you, pulling you both in tighter to her. As Clem’s breathing slowed, you lifted your head slightly to look at Ellie who had been gently playing with Clem’s hair as she hummed a familiar tune to her. It reminded you of a time when your mother would sing the same song to you at bedtime.
₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
Hush little baby don’t say a word
Mama’s gonna buy you a mockingbird
And if that mockingbird don’t sing
Mama’s gonna buy you a diamond ring
And if that diamond ring turns brass
Mama’s gonna buy you a looking glass
And if that looking glass gets broke
Mama's gonna buy you a billy goat
And if that billy goat doesn't pull
Mama's gonna buy you a cart and bull
And if that cart and bull turn over
Mama's gonna buy you a dog named Rover
And if that dog named Rover won't bark
Mama's gonna buy you a horse and cart
And if that horse and cart fall down
well you'll still be the sweetest baby in town.
“I love you Mommy.”
“I love you too sweetie, I always will, sweet dreams.” Your father had read to you after they both gave you your nighttime bath, indulging in your childish play letting you splash at them until the water went cold and you began to shiver. You smiled up at your father as he kissed your forehead goodnight leaving your mum to sing you the same tune she always sang to you before bed. Sometimes you'd sing along and sometimes you'd just listen to her melodic voice as you let her tune coax you to sleep.
₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
The memory haunted you, it had always been such a fond one but now it burned your skin and stung your eyes. You pushed the thoughts to the back of your mind as you sang along to the tune Ellie was gently humming and you could feel the new memories being attached to the song that took the aching pain in your chest away as if it was never there.
You and Ellie both sneak out of Clem’s room once she’s firmly asleep and walk downstairs to greet Dina and Jesse who were sat in your living room.
“Thanks so much for watching her guys. We won’t be long.” You smile at them before going to slip your shoes on. As you return Ellie smiles grimly at you.
“You ready?”
“Fuck yeah.” Your eyebrows furrowed as the sudden fire ignited within you once again.
“Oh I would be shitting myself if I was them right now.” Jesse laughed though it was clear he was serious.
“Have fun going full mama bears on their asses!” Dina calls out to you as you both make your way out the front door and start the walk to Timmy’s house. You were never going to let his parents get away with teaching their child to be so hateful but you didn’t want Clem to see this side of you.
Ellie knocked on their door and as it swung open revealing a disgruntled man you both pushed past him into his home without a word.
“Erm excuse you, what do you think you’re doing?”
“We want to have a chat Rick, get your wife and sit down.” Your voice was monotone and your face deadpan but his scowl did not fade and he remained unmoving.
“Are you deaf? Get your wife and sit down.” Ellie repeated as she stepped closer to him, her face stony and her voice low and menacing. You watched as his face morphed into a picture of fear and it only made you smile, he scurried off returning with his wife, both seating themselves on their sofa, fidgeting and clearly unnerved.
“I’m assuming the school told you what Timmy did today?” They nodded as a response to your question, their eyes flicking between you and Ellie.
“Mm and I bet you couldn’t have been prouder right?” Their silence was adding fuel to the fire and as you observed Ellie pacing slowly beside you, it was clear she felt the same.
“Listen, if you have a problem with us, we couldn’t care less. But if your issue with us ends with our child getting hurt again, then we need to do something about it.” Ellie's voice was calm as she came to stand over them. “If Timmy ever comes near Clem again, I promise you, you will be looking for a new place to live because I will hunt you both to the ends of the Earth. You’ll never be able to settle because I’ll always be just on your heels. Do you want that life for Timmy? Never knowing when he’d be left alone in the world because his parents hatred cost them their lives. This is your only warning. Keep your snotty little shit away from our Clem or we will make sure the last thing you see is us smiling over your bodies. Don’t give me an excuse to do it, because I’ll enjoy every last second of it.” Their faces drained of all their colour and the sight was exhilarating to you. Ellie was always so gentle with you and Clem so you rarely saw this side of her but the few reminders you got never failed to stick with you, knowing she was acting this way to protect Clem, it only warmed you more. She walked to the door leaving you scowling in front of them.
“If you think Maria won’t be hearing of this, you’re wrong, expect a visit from her tomorrow. You’re the reason her niece's daughter was hurt today, she won’t take that lightly. I’d watch your backs if I were you.” You grinned as they visibly gulped before strolling off to meet Ellie at the door, her face matching yours. The walk back to your home was filled with childish giggles as you recounted the looks on their faces.
Even as you walked through the door of your home to find Dina and Jesse cuddled up on the sofa, you still couldn’t stop giggling.
“Assuming it went well then?” Jesse questioned with a quirk of his eyebrow.
“Oh yeah you should’ve seen their faces. Ellie went all ‘ah I’m so scary, I’m gonna hunt you down aghhh’ it was amazing!” You mocked Ellie’s deep, raspy voice that she had used while speaking to Timmy’s parents before bursting into laughter once again.
“I did not fucking sound like that! But it’s true, they shit their pants.” She looked smug as her chin raised to the air only causing you all to laugh more. You had been annoyed about yours and Ellie’s reputations after the few incidents over the past months that had painted you in a darker light but it served you both well today.
“That’s our girls!” Dina was beaming at you both as they stood.
“Thank you again for coming over on short notice. Did she wake up or anything?”
“No no, she’s been out like a light. Don’t keep thanking us anyway, we can use all the practise we can get.” Jesse breathed out as he rocked on his heels.
They said their goodbyes and left, leaving you and Ellie to collapse in bed, tired of the day.
“I know I joked but you going all scary to protect Clemmy was super fucking hot.” You cupped Ellie’s cheeks as you softly rubbed your nose against hers before resting your foreheads together with a smile.
“Hey it wasn’t just me, I heard what you said to them after I left the room. That was a nice touch.”
“Why thank you.” You giggled softly before your face turned sour again. “I just can’t believe we’re having to deal with shit like this. I mean, Ellie, she got fucking hit today. How many homophobes are there in this stupid fucking town?”
“I know, it’s ridiculous. This place is about as good as it gets and still, shit like this happens. I know what you mean about being done with it all but where do we even go you know?”
“Well I was thinking about that, remember that farm we stayed at before we found Clem, how perfect it was, how pretty the stars were from up there, how good the sex we had up there was hmm?” You dropped your voice seductively causing her eyebrows to shoot up. “We never got to go back and lock it up because of our little bundle of joy but I was thinking maybe Joel could watch her for a day and then Dina and Jesse have her for the night so we can go have a look around and see if it’s a viable option for us. I love our family, more than anything and the more I think about it just being us up there, the more I warm up to the idea, but obviously it’s close enough that we can still see everyone regularly and be connected to Jackson, what do you think?”
“Sounds fucking perfect babe. But I have one condition.”
“Oh yeah?”
“We have sheep, lots of ‘em, and a cow or two maybe, oh and we get to take Shimmer and Greg with us. We should have chickens too.”
“Sounds like more than one condition to me but I’m in.”
“You are going to make the cutest farmer.” She smirks at you as your eyebrows furrow.
“You’re going to be the farmer. I will sit pretty and watch you get your hands dirty.”
“Oh will you now?”
“Mhm you’re the one that wanted all the animals.”
“Well I suppose that’s fair. Do you think Clem will want to go?”
“El she’d follow you anyway, that girl has stars in her eyes when she looks at you. I think after today especially, she’ll be happy to go be farmers up in the hills.”
“Ah! So we will be farmers. I knew you’d see it my way.”
“You are ridiculous.”
₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
“Ellie look! It’s just up ahead, it looks fine oh my god I’m so excited!” You rushed out as you spurred Greg on towards the picturesque farmhouse that you had been dreaming about returning to since you left.
“Oh fuck yeah and it’s only taken us like an hour and a half to get here with the horses, it feels so far but so close at the same time.”
“I feel really fucking good about this babe!”
“Me too.” Ellie hummed and as you approached the gate you sucked a breath in, praying it would open freely.
“Ah!” You squealed as the gate swung open and you jumped off Greg barely managing to stop yourself from jumping about as you seemed one step closer to building a life there.
“Okay let’s stay alert just in case, you wanna sweep the house or the barn?” Ellie sounded serious but her voice failed to hide the giddiness in her as she hopped off of Shimmer and pressed a hand to the small of your back.
“Let’s do the barn together first so we can leave the horses in there and then go through the house, I wanna walk in there with you, this is a milestone!” You beamed causing her to chuckle and start leading you round the house and towards the barn.
Once the barn had been cleared and the horses were happily grazing on some hay you both walked back round to the porch, you practically leaping up the stairs and dragging Ellie behind you but before you could reach for the doorknob she yanked you back into her and pressed kisses from just below your ear down to your shoulder blade, swaying you both gently. There was a gentle breeze whistling through the air and it smelled so fresh and crisp, the air felt so much more cleansing than in Jackson, every breath you took making you feel light and renewed. A small white butterfly flew around you both before disappearing into the powder blue sky that was dotted with pristine, white clouds. There were patches of daffodils all over the field amongst other splotches of colourful flowers creating the most beautiful landscape.
“El come on- ah!” You were interrupted as Ellie lifted you bridal style into her arms and started fumbling with the door. “What are you doing?” You said through giggles.
“Practising for the real thing.” She nudged the door open and as you both walked through hearing nothing but sweet, serene silence you both snapped your heads towards each other and smiled. You grabbed her cheeks and pulled her in for a kiss that felt like you were melting into each other before she gently put you down and walked you towards the dining room table opposite the front door, her lips never once leaving yours, it started tender as she explored your mouth with her tongue, lapping at yours slowly, but it soon grew hungry and desperate, the passion radiating off of both of you, she still tasted slightly minty from when she had brushed her teeth this morning and it cooled the growing heat slightly. Her hands grabbed and squeezed at any expanse of skin she could find as she groaned into your mouth, the sound making your knees weak, relying on her to keep you upright as she reduced you to a puddle of desperation with just her lips on yours. You could barely think straight, your mind being clouded, everything becoming hazy as she devoured you. As your thighs hit the back of the table she grabbed at them and lifted you to sit on the oak, pressing herself between your legs and gently grinding her hips into yours, you whined quietly and wrapped your legs tighter round her waist, pulling her impossibly closer to you while gripping onto her hair like she was anchoring you to this plane of existence. The friction of your cores rubbing together could’ve generated electricity, it felt like it was as the hair on the back of your neck stood and you shivered with need. Shockwaves of energy rippled through you as the temperature seemed to rise impossibly higher between you both until you each pulled away gasping for breath, a string of spit connecting your lips together like the tether wrapped around each of your hearts that had kept you closely bound to her since the day you met, even when you hadn’t spoken all those years, the tether still tugged you in her direction.
Ellie bit her lip as she quickly unbuttoned your jeans and yanked them down your legs with your assistance licking her lips at the sight of the wet patch on your underwear. “Someone’s pent up huh? All this from a little kissing? Need to take better care of you don’t I babe?”
“Mhm, quit stalling, I’m so wet it’s uncomfortable El, need you to clean me up.” She groaned at your words and immediately kneeled down on the floor wasting no time slipping your panties to the side and burying her face between your legs. You’d think she hadn’t eaten for days with the way she was sucking you dry, your clit throbbing in her lips as her fingers teased your entrance. She knew your body better than you did, not even having to search for the spongy spot inside of you that made your insides turn to liquid. It was so easy she was chuckling into you as your hips ground themselves into her. Her tongue was her paint brush and your pussy was her artwork as she swirled it around every inch of you, she’d swap from flattening her tongue and almost making out with your cunt to small kitten licks that had you keening and whimpering. Her fingers curled as they pumped in and out of you, each time she’d hit your g-spot you’d jolt and gasp, the feeling was so intense you wanted to squirm away but she had you tightly pulled against her with her free hand gripping onto your hip hard enough there’d be faint oval bruises in her hands absence. “Oh fuck, right there baby, I’m so close, shit-” With a long, harsh suckle on your clit, her tongue working circles around it at the same time, it seemed to be the only occasion where she could multi-task, your body tensed with your release, your hips bucking onto her fingers as you ride out your high. “Ah fuck- OW!” You suddenly exclaim cutting yourself off mid-moan. Ellie quickly jumped up to face you, her lips and chin shiny with your slick that looked comical against her panicked expression.
“Babe what’s wrong? Did I hurt you? Fuck I’m sorry-”
“No, no you didn’t do anything. You were fucking amazing but I- I think I got a splinter in my ass.” You admit shamefully.
“No you fucking didn’t, oh my god turn around, let me see.” She couldn’t contain her laughter even as you frowned at her while hopping off the table and turning away from her. She pressed a hand to your back, bending you over the table and gently easing your underwear down your thighs as she inched close enough to your behind that you could feel her breath tickling your cheeks.
“Ellie stop being a perv, is there a splinter?”
“Ohh yeah, big one too, could see it from a mile away.”
“Why is your nose practically touching my ass then?”
“Because it’s really pretty.” You could practically hear the smirk in her voice before she made a sorrowful attempt at whistling that just sounded like air escaping through a slightly cracked window. You laughed and she smacked at your uninjured ass-cheek lightly.
“Ellie! Get the fucking splinter out!”
“Alright, alright. Ruining my fun you are.”
“I’m gonna ruin you when this splinter is out of my ass.”
“Is that a threat or a promise?”
“Both you heathen now hurry up!” She chuckled before quickly but gently removing the splinter earning a satisfied hum from you as you returned upright and faced her, unamused at her childish glee while inspecting the splinter between her thumb and index finger.
“So errr we should probably varnish this table or sand it or something before we move in here. Wouldn’t want Clem getting hurt.” Ellie declares.
“Oh yeah this is sooo about Clem and not just you imagining railing me nine ways to sunday on here.” You raise your eyebrows at her, you knew Ellie was thinking about making sure Clem didn’t get any splinters, but you also knew that wasn’t the reason for her comment. You were the one that worried about things like that, she was the one that would throw Clem over her head high enough that you’d gasp and scold her for how close Clem’s head was to hitting the ceiling. You frowned as she seemed completely unphased by your remark only staring at the splinter still.
“I’m keeping this, it’s a memento.”
“Ellie so help me god-”
“Relax babe, someone’s prickly.” She hunched over with laughter as you simply rolled your eyes and redressed yourself.
“You’re so unfunny.”
“Why are you always laughing then?”
“I really don’t like you right now.”
“Hey that’s not fair, I just made you cum in under like five minutes, that’s gotta be a record, be nice to me.”
“I’ll be nice to you when you drop the fucking splinter.” Without hesitation she turned away from you and hurled the splinter towards the front door.
“See, it’s gone, now kiss me woman.” She shut her eyes and puckered up her lips dramatically while making loud smooching sounds.
“You’re lucky I love you.”
“Doesn’t sound like kissing!” She sang before puckering her lips again to which you relented and pressed your lips against hers, smiling into the kiss as her arms wrapped around your waist. “Goddamn I love you.” You giggled as you stepped away from her and spun round the room, taking in everything you had missed in your frenzied state. So much had happened in such a short space of time but the house, the house looked like it was frozen, everything exactly as you remembered it from before. It just felt right, it felt like home.
“So er now we’ve christened the place, how about we take a look around?” You suggested, the heat in your cheeks barely subsiding.
“Oh yeah, I wanna christen each room before we go.”
“You’re an animal.” She laughed as she followed you all throughout the house until you were in the kitchen, both gazing out of the window above the sink at the field that surrounded the property. The long grass was swaying in the wind, two doves landed on the fence in front of the window and their chirps were a melody you could listen to forever. The sun was beaming making everything look even more vibrant than it already did, the mountains creating the most beautiful backdrop. “Imagine teaching Clemmy all about the animals and how to grow fruit and vegetables in the sun, nothing but quiet all around.” As you spoke you could picture everything in your head like it was already reality.
“And sitting outside at night, looking at all the stars, looking for constellations.” She spoke into your neck where her face was nestled, her arms wrapped around your front, swaying you both gently.
“We can read together on the porch, bundle up in winter and have hot chocolate out there while we watch the snow fall.” You add.
“Teach Clem how to ride the horses, the fields big enough.”
“Yes! She’ll love running around with all the animals, I bet she’ll love the chickens.” You both chuckle at the notion.
“She’s gonna make one her pet and then we’ll have a house chicken.” Ellie huffed as if she was already being faced with Clem’s puppy eyes as she clutches the clueless chicken to her chest begging for it to be her pet.
“Bet she’ll call it Eggbert whether it’s a boy or a girl.”
“That sounds like something I would do.”
“That’s exactly my point.” You turn to face her over your shoulder and smile as she purses her lips and nods slowly, her eyes narrowing at your smug face before breaking out into the widest grin.
“Babe I fucking love it here, I can picture our lives here and everything. You still want this?” She spins you to face her, the smile adorning her features would have been enough to convince you to jump off a cliff if that was what she wanted.
“More than anything.”
“Then, as long as Clemmy’s okay with it, we’re moving.” You squeal and press your lips against hers as she squeezes you against her, lifting you from the ground slightly and spinning you around until she staggered to a stop. “Oh fuck I’m dizzy.” She rests her hands on her knees and takes a few deep breaths that have her back visibly rising and falling causing you to chuckle at her playfulness.
“Okay, we need to look at the fence, the water, the gas and the electric, I’ve got used to some comforts in Jackson that I’m not prepared to give up just yet.”
“Let’s look at the fence because I don’t know who you think I am babe but I will have no clue about any of the other things.” Ellie stands upright once again, her hands finding their place on her hips as she tilts her head slightly at you.
“Oh right me neither, that can be a job for Joel and Tommy.”
“They’ve got their uses.” She grabs your hand and drags you back outside where you both just stand for a minute admiring the view.
₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
“Look this can be Clemmy’s room! Maybe you could paint something on her wall for her El!”
“Fuck yeah but come on you, it’s been a long day and we need our beauty sleep.” You groaned as Ellie ushered you towards the master bedroom, you just wanted to stay and keep fantasising, but Ellie was right, you were tired and you wanted to wake up bright and early to get back to Clementine tomorrow.
You each slipped off your clothes, you climbed in bed as Ellie cracked the window slightly to let the cool, summer night air breeze into the room. The only sound that could be heard was the faint chirping of crickets and your breaths as you both settle into the bed, cuddling into one another. You looped your arms around Ellie’s waist and pressed your face into her chest as she softly scratched patterns into your back. Your legs entangled with each other's as your heartbeats synced, it was serene and you felt the calmest you had felt in as long as you could remember. It felt almost perfect, but you knew once Clem was here with you both it would be perfect. You breathed in, letting Ellie’s scent linger and blur your senses more as sleep dragged you further into its embrace, she had always smelt of fresh washing that had dried in the summer breeze, it was comforting, everything about her was comforting. Her soft skin moulding against yours, the steady rise and fall of her chest, the way she clutched onto you subconsciously, she was home to you, she was always home to you, even when you weren’t speaking for those years, she still offered the comfort you so desperately craved.
₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
“Are you okay?” You didn’t have to look up to know who it was, her voice was etched into your brain, all you wanted to do was leap into her arms and clutch onto her, never letting go but you couldn’t. You had already pushed her away until your time together was blurring memories swirling around your head. You had pushed her away to keep your relationship with your parents but it still wasn’t enough, it was never enough for them. You swore they wanted nothing to do with you, banishing you out of the house because you had got into a fight and refused to divulge why. Ellie was why, and that would’ve only angered them more.
You had been sitting in the park, reading a book when Petra and Suze had enclosed on you, sitting down by your side with smiles. “Hey bookworm, what ya reading?” Petra questions.
“Persuasion by Jane Austen, it’s so good, romance books will always have a special place in my heart.”
“Another romance book huh? We gotta get you out in the real world, Jason’s got his eye on you, you know, we could set you two up.” Suze quirked her eyebrow as you grimaced.
“As much as that offer is so tempting, I’d rather stab myself in the eye repeatedly than go out with Jason.”
“What? What’s wrong with him?” He’s a guy and he’s not Ellie, you missed her every minute of everyday, Petra and Suze were a nice distraction but they were nothing like Ellie, you just wanted Ellie.
“I don’t know, I’m just not interested in him like that, he’s so full of himself, there wouldn’t be enough room in the relationship with me and his huge ego.” They both giggled at your harsh tone.
“Well that’s fair.” Silence settled around you as you watched the scenery, people-watching had always been one of your favourite pass-times but you found yourself doing it more now you were constantly searching for the auburn hair you used to run your fingers through, you had convinced yourself you’d seen her this time, that wasn’t a part of your imagination like it often was but Petra’s words confirmed you had actually been seeing her this time.
“Ugh there goes the town dyke. God she’s so fucking weird.”
“I know right, why would they even let her in? Throw her to the wolves I say.” Suze snickered and everything went red, your ears rang and your vision blurred, you only remember being yanked off of Suze as Petra lay just a foot away wheezing and coughing, cursing you under her breath.
Your parents had screamed, thrown things at you, yanked you by their iron grip around your wrists to barricade you in your room when you refused to explain why you had so viciously attacked the girls that were supposed to be your friends. You sobbed and sobbed until you heard your dad shifting whatever he had used to keep your bedroom door shut tightly. He didn’t speak, didn’t look you in the eye, just dragged you out of your room and straight outside where he shut the door after uttering. “Find somewhere else to sleep tonight.” That was it. You were on your own and the rain that started to pour from the heavens mirrored your mood as you wandered aimlessly until your legs grew weak and you collapsed by a tree, desperately hoping it would shelter you from the torrential downpour.
“Hey I said are you okay?” Ellie nudged your shoe with hers as you sniffled and spared a glance up at her only to bury your head back into your knees that you were holding to your chest with a small shake of your head. “Why are you outside in this weather? You’re gonna get sick. Go home.” Her tone wasn’t nasty but it wasn’t soft and sweet like it used to be with you, it was a slap on the cheek that you thoroughly deserved.
“I can’t” You weakly whispered, barely loud enough for her to hear, she kneeled down and stroked a hand down your hair, beckoning you to meet her worried gaze.
“They kick you out again?”
“Mhm.”
“What was the reason this time?”
“I fucked up Petra and Suze and I wouldn’t tell them why, they love Petra and Suze more than me so they’re really pissed.”
“Why’d you fight them?”
“Doesn’t matter.” You wouldn’t meet her eyes, you just stared off into the distance, occasionally hiccupping as a result of your sobbing.
“Get up.”
“Just leave me alone please Ellie.” She was too painful of a reminder of how alone you were, you’d rather be actually alone than in her presence.
“Just get up, c’mon. You’re not sleeping out here tonight. If you get struck by lightning I’ll feel kinda responsible.” Her tone was lighter than it had been and you chuckled slightly as you took her hand and let her pull you from the ground, immediately turning on her heel and letting you trail along behind her back to her home. You considered just disappearing from your place behind her, you doubted that she would notice before you were long gone as she seemed to avoid looking at you like she’d turn to stone if she did.
Her garage was exactly as you’d remembered it with a couple new additions to the trinkets that littered every surface and wall. You had always loved it here, it was so much more inviting than your home. You used to let yourself in and immediately flop down on her sofa like you owned the place but now you just stood by the door, shivering and fidgeting unsure of what to do from here. Ellie was busy at her makeshift kitchen, milling through cupboards and drawers.
“Have you eaten?” She turned to face you for the first time since she had found you and frowned at your uncomfortable demeanour. “Just sit down or something, you’re making me feel weird just looking at you.” She snapped, immediately regretting it as you flinched and dragged yourself to the sofa like she’d throw you out if you hadn’t. “Sorry, have you eaten?”
“I’m fine.”
“That’s not what I asked though is it? Have you eaten? Yes or no?”
“Yeah.”
“Fucking liar.” She bit her lip as your eyes flashed to hers, guilt painted all over your features. She couldn’t see you like this, it was too hard to not just wrap you in her arms and tell you everything would be okay, that she’s here for you, you wouldn’t let her do that and she couldn’t let herself so she just turned back towards the kitchenette and began making some dinner for you both. “You know where my clothes are, don’t sit in those wet clothes, if you wanna take a shower to warm up you can.”
“I’m-”
“For fuck’s sake can you stop being so fucking stubborn and just take care of yourself? Go warm up and put on some dry clothes.” She sniped leading you to rush away from her and into the bathroom without another word. “Shit.” She muttered as the bathroom door slammed shut, she was kicking you while you were down and she felt horrible but she couldn’t control herself around you, if she could she would’ve pretended she hadn’t seen you earlier and kept walking. She heard the shower turn on and faintly through the pattering of the water she heard sniffles and choked sobs that led her to press her ear to the door trying to listen in closer. It was clear as day, the sound of your sobs that you thought the shower muffled, her heart clenched and her skin itched as it felt like it was constricting around her, choking the air out of her. She stayed at the door, just listening, she knew she should’ve given you privacy but she felt glued to the wood separating you both, she only moved when the sound of the soup bubbling beckoned her over to turn the heat on the cooker down. She went to go back to the door but the sound of the shower turning off sent her leaping in the complete opposite direction, sitting at her desk and forcing herself to keep her eyes planted on the comic that had been resting atop as you walked out in a towel, her towel and shuffled over to the drawers where she kept her pyjamas.
She dished up the soup and handed you a bowl wordlessly before going back to the desk to eat hers, the tension was palpable between the both of you, the only sound filling the room being small metallic clinks of your spoons hitting the bowls over and over again as you scraped the remnants of the soup from the bowl. “Sorry it’s not much.”
“Thank you Ellie.” You walked over to her and took her bowl going to the sink to wash them up for her, it was the least you could do.
“You can take the bed, I’ll sleep on the couch.”
“No I’m not taking your bed too.”
“Just-” She went to snap but sucked in a breath and calmed herself down. “Just take the bed, please.” You breathed deeply before nodding your head and skulking over to the bed where you had once stayed almost every other night, climbing in cautiously, subconsciously crawling over to ‘your’ side of the bed.
“Thanks, night Ellie.”
“Night.” It didn’t take long for sleep to overtake you, you were exhausted and your head was pounding, sleep providing the much-needed reprieve from the emotions of the day.
The first thing your eyes focused on as you woke was Ellie’s sleeping form on the sofa, curled up under a blanket, her face was peaceful, washed of the scowl that typically took over her features around you now. Suddenly everything hit you like a brick and it felt like the air was getting sucked out of you as you rushed to change back into your clothes and get out of there as quickly and as quietly as possible. You were out of the door in under five minutes and the guilt only weighed you down with every step you took away from Ellie. She had been kind and helped you in a time of need and you ran off without a word. You didn’t know what you would say, how you could face her, it was too painful, going back to your home and facing the wrath of your parents would be kinder to your heart than staying with Ellie any longer.
Ellie woke, eyes immediately scanning the room for you but as soon as she noticed you were gone without a warning, without a goodbye, she felt like she was losing you all over again and her eyes welled with tears as she pressed her face into her palms and cried softly.
₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
“Hi baby! Oh we missed you, did you have fun with Uncle Jesse and Auntie Dina?” You squeezed Clem to your chest until you heard a little squeak leave her lips prompting you to release her and tuck a loose strand of her soft waves behind her ear.
“Yes! Uncle Jesse showed me how to play catch and Auntie Dina helped me make cookies, I have some to bring home!” Clem beamed before Ellie scooped her up and spun her around, eliciting giggles from the small girl.
“Aren’t you a lucky girl? Say thank you kiddo.” Ellie pressed a sweet kiss to Clem’s cheek as she propped her on her hip and bounced her slightly.
“Thank you! You guys are the best.” Clem’s happiness rubbed off on all of you as you all chuckled. You both thanked them profusely before leaving to go to Joel’s, you wanted to thank him in person also and you needed to discuss the move with him.
As you walked, Clem in the middle of you both, gripping onto your hands, she rambled and rambled about her time away from you both until she hummed quietly, signalling she was done. “Can you swing me? Can we swing? Can we, can we? Pleaseee.” You and Ellie both smiled at her before swinging her into the air from her arms. She’d do a jump into it each time and giggled sweetly as she soared through the air between you both. By the time you reached Joel’s, yours and Ellie’s arms ached and Clem seemed tired and subdued, her tiredness only being confirmed as you entered Joel’s and she immediately took herself to the sofa to lay down instead of running straight outside to her playset.
“Hi Joel, thanks so much for watching her yesterday. Didn’t give you too much trouble did she?”
“Oh not at all, she was an angel as always, how was your trip?” You and Ellie glanced at each other before beaming at him.
“It was perfect, you gotta see this house Joel, it’s a farmhouse with a fence around the property that’s completely intact, it’s got a barn, and the house has a wraparound porch, the view is amazing, it’s perfect.” Ellie rushed out as she sat at his dining table where he had already situated himself.
“So you wanna move there?” You both nodded hesitantly, anticipating his reaction. “Well me and Tommy will have to get up there, have a look and see if it’s functional, but if ya wanna do this and it’ll make ya happy, I support ya. I heard what happened to Clem the other day.” He didn’t have to finish his sentence, you all understood what he was saying. It seemed you had outgrown Jackson and he wanted you to be happy, he wanted Clem to be happy and carefree. “We’ll all pitch in and get ya up there.”
“Thank you Joel, we can’t tell you how much we appreciate this.” Your voice croaked slightly as you tried to hold in the tears of joy that welled in your eyes.
“Well I can see this makes ya happy and that’s all I want.”
“You’re really something old man.” Ellie chuckled, a smile so wide you expected her cheeks to ache as she looked between you and him, grabbing your hand and squeezing.
“You told Clemmy yet?”
“No actually, we wanted to speak to you first before we told her but we’ll talk to her about it today.” Ellie replied.
“I’m sure she’ll jump at the idea.”
“That’s what I said.” You looked to the girl dozing on the sofa as you spoke and everything felt like it was falling into place, your life being mapped out in front of you, the sight making your body buzz with excitement.

Stam: Am I? Already bubbling with love for her? Haha, I guess I am. I do. When I look in the mirror, I can see her face right next to mine. I feel I can ask her things, I feel I want to listen to her, even when I've just woken up. She feels familiar. And I also think I may have seen her before, when she was in the bistro with her friend. You know, the singer from the band.
Manon: She has a friend in a band? Like, a troubadour-friend? My goodness. Rachel, dear, dear Rachel, please be careful. Don't mingle with such people until you've got your husband. These kind of things can reflect badly upon your pure self.
Stam: Don't worry. It is a really great band. Having such a friend cannot harm Rachel's virtue, haha, if that's what your concerned about. But please, let's talk about me. Tell Rachel something nice. Why am I the most rounded package she can get? Haha. Not fishing for compliments or anything.
Klaus-Ove: Obviously.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Manon: Where do I begin? First of all, Miss Rachel, this man might be a prince! His fair Northern mother, a hardworking nurse, met a tall and dark stranger in Al Simhara, who never revealed his name. I mean, look at Mr. Hardenes: that must have been a prince!
Stam: Let's not talk about the guy who knocked my mother up. He could just as well have been a troubadour, Miss de La Haye. I've never met him.
Manon: Oh? Yes, you've been raised by your dear mother alone, but surely you must feel, a certain kind of nobility... in your veins...
Stam: Nope.
Manon: But your looks!
Stam: Ah. My looks. I don't really care about that. Neither does Rachel I'm sure. I'm proud I have my mum's eyes and I'm proud I am strong and never ill, so I can pursue my dreams and be a good son to my beloved mother. She's my everything.
Manon: You don't care about it, yet you look in the mirror long enough to imagine your dream wife's face beside your own.
Stam: I practise my charisma skills.
Manon: I'm sure you do. Early in the morning. Right out of bed. I'm sure you practise your athletic skills too, not to build those fine muscles I notice beneath your far too gaudy shirt, but to...
Tumblr media
Stam: Do you have any idea how hard the work of a chef is? If you don't keep your body in shape, you'll simply perish preparing meals. You won't make it a single night. Besides, I told you, I don't care about looks. All I aspire my body to be in the future, is soft and chubby, so my kids can use me as a teddybear or a trampoline, or a doormat, for all I care. I want to be the greatest dad in the world. I want to be the dad I never had. I want to be the dad that should have supported my mother every step of the way.
Manon: Goodness me, I knew you wanted a family. But this... So, one really has to read between the lines, with your person. And all these jobs you have, the whole rigmarole, besides being, simply put, gorgeous, all that is not to get ahead of others, nor to behave like a gentleman should, it is...
Stam: I'm just skilling up for the future I want. Making a name while I'm still single. But when I've found my love, and my home becomes a reality, and I hold my first baby in my arms, all falls second to that. And then I will be prepared. I will be so prepared. It will be nothing but happiness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Manon: Oh, all the heavens above me. An airmonger.
Klaus-Ove and Orbin: Wow, man.
Stam: I thought you'd seen all that in me, Miss, when you said I was the total package for Rachel.
Manon: Oh, sweetheart... And you cared for your mother, when she had what you call a "burn out", when you were young? Twice?
Stam: I did. Why?
Manon: No... nothing. Just another thing Rachel needs to know. Something about an apple and a tree. Never mind. Let's... let's proceed and present the last of you. Mister Klaus-Ove Larsen, please come up here, you carefree looking pup.
Stam: I won't get to address Rachel myself, like Orbin did?
Manon: Well..., you can still try. We surely have another minute, haven't we, gentlemen? There, go ahead, Mr. Hardenes.
Tumblr media
Stam: Okay. So here it is, dear Rachel. My dear Rachel. I've only seen you once or twice, yet you are already on my mind, like constantly. You intrigue me, you calm me down, I feel things. Possibilities of a future together. I could be that guy you describe. I could stay in with you, for a lifetime I guess. But I'd also like to take you out, to see people, to go for a delicious dinner, or to soak up art at a gallery. And maybe, someday to take you to the country half of me comes from. All preferably with our little one in a carrier on my back... Am I going too fast? I probably am. I don't want to scare you. I'll probably be quiet and in awe when we finally meet. And I can be funny too. Just contact me. I'll make sure it'll be worth your time.
Manon: Thank you, Mr. Hardenes. And now, sweet, dear Rachel, you know what they say: last may be best! Here is Mr. Klaus-Ove Larsen, the youngest of these gentlemen, someone who might sweep you off your feet in a swirl of magnificent creativity.

literally just me talking about edit stuff because im in a mood
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these r what i would call like my base level of ingame edits (i dont reallyyyyyy count my cas screenshots as edits unless i spend an actual amount of time actually working on them rather than my usual blur+chromatic aberration+sharpen combo) theres usually very little? or like no actual basis in the characters "canon" or lore like its just done to make them look nice. right. or like its fun lighting practise for me really. theyre usually pretty simple in execution like in the two examples there its just plain yellow background for sunny and the neon cross for vin so i have to put a little extra oomf into it because the backgrounds are like not super detailed so theres less of an "interest" factor from that so the sims themselves have to look REALLY good to make up for it. the ones i end up happy with though usually look really dynamic so it balances out
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so these are more sort of abstract edits to me bc they have a basis in the oc lore or themes or whatever and most of my ocs have at least one or two visual markers (in the examples lucari or even just ari specifically gets a fair amount of celestial/sky imagery, i handled the colours here a bit sloppily but its meant to be blue and purple which are ari and luca's text colours, heiya's emphasis being on her muscles and scars and the clouded solar eclipse, redacted gets a lot of water/reflective surfaces/birds/rainbow flares?? and also lightning but that isnt being used in this specific one and sunny gets a fair amount of fire/smoke stuff as well as emphasis on primary colours like his more blue toned edits r usually in his darker stages of his life while warmer yellows means more positive stuff, red usually is just for uhhh violence oriented stuff) and like none of these are Actually happening. right. redacted isnt actually ever in that position with that era of hair in the water with the birds and sunny was set on fire at 13 not as an adult and they certainly never had a portrait of his family like that. but its symbolic, it means Something even if you as the viewer doesnt know it yet 😅 or ever aha
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OKAY LOL I PRESSED POST BY ACCIDENT LOL but these are my full lore edits or something likr theyre totally rooted in the background of the ocs. like these are scenes from their lives for real. obviously i fiddle with lighting angle composition a tinyyyy bit to make for a more pleasing or dynamic image at the end but if my ocs all got dedicated like. movies or shows these would be ripped straight from the scene. i take creative liberties with some stuff but in essence these could be story posts (like the 3rd example with idris/redacted is literally in the story itself in one of the posts) the difference is usually amount of images in the post and orientation of said image/s. to me an edit stops being an edit when it has more than likeeeeee 4 images and then i will usually keep that bulk all in landscape or maybe one as portrait for emphasis. edits will be 4 or less and mostly in portrait because i want the less images to take up more room on the dash. the backgrounds for these will usually be way more complex like ill build a mini set or use existing sets for each one. i just think that ingame edits have a lot more capability than you might think (u dont have to go into blender for every little thing promise 🙌🏼) its just like. u can do a lot with this game i swearrrrrr just treat it like an art medium. im serious
ALSO the song almost always is sooo relevant to the edit i swear its not enough to sound good. i have to be unwell about it as well and it has to make sense with what im showing u
ok thats my random unrequested ted talk for the day im going to go home now bye thank u for reading if u did that 😁

Significance
Whumptober 4: "I see the danger, It’s written there in your eyes.”
-
Northlight had stopped crying by the time the time the laboratory started to awaken. When the full lights came on and voices began to trickle down the vast corridors outside of their chamber, they were sure their cheeks were no longer flushed, their eyes dried, to hide the moment of weakness. Poor, idiotic Kurt, going along with so much for so little. Naïve, foolish Lachlan, gambling his life for his brother's.
Caroline was present in passing, checking they were still secure and leading a group of initiates to look at them, but otherwise didn't approach.
There was tension in the air. Caroline stood on the other side of the observation glass, a handful of students behind her staring and listening. Kurt sat on the chair beside Northlight's trolley, book resting on his knee, keeping watch peacefully. The siblings had not spoken to each other. Northlight knew Caroline must have found out about the visit. Perhaps she even guessed that Kurt had removed the muzzle.
Of course, whatever happened as a result wouldn't be explained to the body. Kurt would simply disappear one day, or worse, nothing would change at all. They probably wouldn't have a confrontation in front of the students, either, to keep rumours from swirling. Northlight passed the time by imagining how they would retell the story later.
Caroline: (with great feeling) How could you betray me, brother? But worse, how could you betray the cause?
Kurt: I did not intend to harm you, sister.
Caroline: Oh, of course you did not intend anything.
Kurt: Truly. The creature, it… It has such eyes. They stare so deeply into you.
Caroline: Romantic nonsense.
Kurt: It is true. Yesterday, it shed tears of sorrow, could you not see?
Caroline: I saw only the crocodile tears of a monster mimicking human feeling. Your emotions always get the better of you, brother.
Kurt: (turning away) I am sorry. I know our Lady's orders were to never allow them to speak.
Caroline: Then why?
Kurt: (after a deep breath) I believe the creature does feel. If not exactly as your or I do, then as well and as deeply to be compared. Why else would it show sadness when none of us around it did? It thinks, it feels, it has its own life. I have tried to ignore it, but I can no longer. We must act. They must not be treated as a monster any longer.
Northlight stopped the script there. Even in their own imagination, they knew the story had gone astray. Kurt wasn’t able to go that far. He needed time, and maybe some bad times.
If they could, they thought they would ask him why he had joined. It was clear that Caroline was senior between the two, so perhaps it was her own doing. Or was there once a condition or illness that affected him or his family? Was he here to save others or save himself? Had Caroline honestly believed it would be better for him to sit around next to a body on a tray, instead of practising family medicine?
But then… What doctor didn't want a miracle cure for all their poor patients? Maybe the career itself had driven Kurt here.
It was horribly unclear. Their head was full of words they couldn't get out. They needed to talk. They needed so badly to just talk.
Caroline led the students away. The hallway was empty. Northlight wondered if their voice would ever move normally again. The weight and pressure of the muzzle only grew worse each day. When it came off, would their skin come with it? Would their jaw and tongue? Or would it always be part of them like the scars and the drip?
Their treasures were all lost. That hurt the most. Maybe they were kept somewhere, or they could already be destroyed. Maybe they were being pored over by some underpaid clerk who was tasked with divining their significance. The hair tie from Patience Penrose. The folded tamale wrapper from the clinic. The geode. The wooden star. Their beloved scarf.
Their thoughts were too miserable to sustain, and eventually, Northlight let them drift away into stories. Easier for them to remember their loved ones that way. There were stories they told where they didn't even remember the events they were based on, and they probably changed a little each time they were told. But at least, those old and future friends would be brought to some semblance of immortality in Northlight's mind.
And then, when these stories were told, they live on in others, and that was the greatest gift Northlight could give. Immortality without cost.
The next few days passed in relative peace. Lachlan remained elsewhere, his entire healing process laboriously recorded. Caroline stayed clear of Kurt, and Kurt stayed clear of Caroline. When she came with her trainees to experiment, her brother became scarce. Her students took notes, dug out sampled of flesh, and one even took nail clippings. Northlight had barely slept, was dizzy with the eternal electric lights, and dissolved into hysterics at the feeling. Locked in an underground laboratory for vampiric bloodletting, and some middle-aged medic was cutting their nails. What, was he going to try eating them?
Eventually, Lachlan was deemed ready. He had healed enough. Northlight knew it was coming when they were taken on their trolley-bed back to the room where it happened. The one with the other bed, and the lockers of supplies that nobody would use.
Lachlan walked in a moment later, unaided. He didn’t look at anyone. There was a dark line across his throat, but even Northlight could tell it was far better healed than should be possible. Caroline, who had probably examined it in minute detail, was confident she could get away with more.
Lachlan lay on the clean table. The chest scars were also fading fast. They now looked more like the one scar he had before the experiments began, closer to it than to the cut at his neck. Northlight wished they could feel impressed, or even proud, of the work their blood had done. Instead, there was only tired horror and shame.
Caroline arranged her devices to capture every moment. Lachlan tipped his head back, then dropped it again.
The other doctors watched. Kurt watched. It was the first time that the Swindon siblings had been in the same room this week.
“Head back,” Caroline ordered, her tone as flat as if she was reading from a sign.
Lachlan tensed, spine arcing, and his chin tucked in. He stared straight up, his chest rising and falling in rapid breaths.
Caroline put a hand on his shoulder, and the noise he made broke Northlight’s heart. It was a small, soft, round noise, stuffed to the brim with fear.
“I’m sorry,” he breathed out sharply. “I-I’m sorry, I, I can’t.”
Caroline leaned over him, forcing his eyes to meet hers. Lachlan wasn’t one of her students, and she treated him like little more than a servant, but Lachlan’s respect for her was obvious. He tried to calm himself. His hands were pale knuckles around the edges of the table.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I’m sorry, I-I’m weak.”
If he was watching for disappointment, there was none to be found. Caroline merely asked, “Do you need to be restrained?”
His eyelids fluttered closed in shame. “Yes, please.”
Northlight looked away. The process was silent and methodical, and he couldn’t bear to watch Lachlan start to relax as his freedom was taken away. Willingly given, his freedom and his life, it was impossible to witness.
They closed their eyes and let their tears fall again freely. If Kurt was watching, let him believe it was the sign he had been waiting for.
Caroline and her scalpel produced a guttural noise of pain, kicking legs, and a noise that might have been words if it wasn’t for how she had killed him. Lachlan fought, helplessly, but at least he tried. Northlight was grateful for it; at least some part of the boy knew there was nothing to gain by dignity. Neither of them had the respect to lose by being pathetic.
Lachlan’s struggles stilled alarmingly quickly. Northlight tried not to look, knowing the blood would be part of this. The healing may have already started, before death could take him. Would it be faster or slower? He didn’t want to know. Either way would lead to more blood taken.
They wondered if Caroline would stop bringing them into the room for these murders. They were her emergency blood bag, but soon she would grow confident in her ability to resurrect her dead. Then, they might not see Lachlan at all. He would always be recovering from some almost-mortal wound.
Almost-mortal, they think again. A good term for these laboratory vampires.
Absent-mindedly, their eyes opened. Their head was tilted towards the doctor, who watched in silence as the others began to quietly discuss the process happening, not stunned speechless anymore. Kurt kept his eyes on Lachlan.
Northlight couldn’t bear it. They turned their head.
The pale blue scrubs were stained with lurid blood. Lachlan lay unconscious, head turned away from them all, hands slack where they rested, strapped to the side of the bed. Northlight couldn’t see if he had healed – Caroline had moved her camera to capture that, and the screens were above their head. But after a moment, they noticed what had caught Kurt’s gaze.
Lachlan’s knuckles were still pale, off-colour, as if he had maintained his death grip on the side of the bed. The tips of his fingers were sallow too. Bloodless.
Northlight turned their head slowly, and the deliberate motion drew Kurt’s eye back to them. They met his gaze.
With a jerk of his head, the doctor looked away. He rose, and went to speak to Caroline.

“But you’re different now, so it’s alright,” Jarold said.
Draco held his breath for a moment before saying, “...I’ve tried.”
Jarold nodded.
“And you…?” Draco said carefully.
Jarold looked down at him, his brow furrowed.
“I changed, but you haven’t,” Draco said.
Jarold blinked, his confusion only growing, “It’s not the same, is it? I mean, quidditch is alright.”
“Well, yes, but it being the only thing in your life-”
“It’s different,” Jarold cut him off stiffly. “You don’t get it.”
Draco raised an eyebrow, “Explain it then?”
Jarold sighed and glared out at the dark playground. “It’s what I’m good at. It’s my thing, my one thing. It’s easy for you lot to talk about doing other things and being different now, but I don’t have nothin’ else.”
“Have you tried?” Draco asked.
Jarold bristled at that, his shoulders tightening, “I went to school, didn’t I? Took the same classes as everyone else, did my best, didn’t I?”
“And you were just rubbish at it all?” Draco asked, not believing it for a second.
Jarold shrugged in frustration, “I did alright, I just- I don’t-”
“What?” Draco asked.
“It’s different,” Jarold said stubbornly, “It feels totally different. Like, I’ve spent my whole life being the clumsy oaf who doesn’t know what to say or do, but on a broom, I’m good, I can fly better than most, got dead-on aim with the bat. I’m good. Everything else just feels like trudging through muck.”
Jarold let out a huge sigh, “Just cause I can do the other stuff doesn't mean I want to, you know? ...I’m not sure what I’d do if I couldn’t play anymore.”
“It’s not that great,” Draco said.
Jarold snorted. He stepped down a metal bar, turning and jumping to the ground in one fluid movement that left Draco feeling a bit jealous. Over the last, however many years, his body had turned into something resembling pudding. Things he used to do without a second thought now seemed to take far more effort. Draco wasn’t sure what was more to blame, the drinking, lazing about in bed for ten to twelve hours every day, the drinking, or forgetting to eat much other than alcohol.
Draco hopped down onto reddish mulch surrounding the playground equipment.
“You said you played seeker?” Jarold said.
Draco nodded.
“Hm.” Jarold said dismissively.
Draco’s eyebrows rose.
“Nothing wrong with seekers; they gotta be strong flyers with quick reflexes. Keepers gotta have good reflexes too, and instincts to watch the play and keep track of the quaffle, good hands too.”
Draco started to grin, suspecting where this was going.
“Chasers, they got to be agile flyers as well as strong, with a good arm and good reactions,” Jarold said, his eyes shining with a mix of admiration and pride.
And beaters- Draco thought.
“And beaters,” Jarold said, “They gotta be all of that, and they have to do it with a stick. We have to know where the ball is, where the players are and where the bludgers are. No head strikes, cause that’s a foul, can’t miss with the bat and knock another player, that’s a foul, can’t touch the ball, that’s a foul,” he ticked each one off on his fingers. “And best play is to hit the bludger towards the other teams’ ball carrier, to disrupt the play, or towards their keeper to keep him off the ring, without fouling. Beaters get the most injuries of any position too, and that’s not counting practise injuries.”
“That’s a lot more complicated than how we played it at school,” Draco said, remembering how Vincent and Greg would just try and hit the bludger as hard as possible. It was considered a good play as long as it didn’t hit anyone on their team.
Jarold nodded, “Yeah. Hogwarts games were kids’ stuff. I read up as much as I could about professional play. And I Got to talk to Catherine Fullbright when I was sixteen. She was Beater for the Applebee Arrows for eleven years; she gave me some good pointers. But it was still a shock. The quaffle’s smaller, you know, and the bludgers are bigger.”
“I remember hearing that the snitch is faster, too,” Draco said.
“Yeah, charmed to be fastest at the start of play and gradually slow down to pedestrian play speeds,” Jarold said.
“Really?” Draco said.
“Yeah, takes about two hours, but it helps keep games from goin’ on for days like they did in 69’ and 75’,” Jarold said.
“When did that change?” Draco asked.
“91’. The decision was passed 16 to 9 by the Quidditch rules commission board,” Jarold said.
Draco couldn’t help but notice how much more eloquent and engaged Jarold was when it was talking about Quidditch. He seemed infinitely less tense but talked quickly, like he was expecting someone to cut him off at any second. It was intriguing.
Draco had only been impassioned about Quidditch so far as beating Potter went. And winning. Winning was the important part, which he was often forced to leave to other incompetents. Draco frowned at the shape of his own thoughts and shoved them out of his mind, turning his attention back to Jarold.
“Tell me about being a beater,” Draco said.
Jarold blinked at him, “What do you want to understand?”
“Why you like it,” Draco said.
“It’s not about like. It’s more- more-” Jarold took a deep breath and let it out, gesturing broadly with his hands. “It feels like that.”
“Relief?” Draco guessed. When Jarold shook his head, he guessed again, “Satisfaction?”
“Something like that, yeah,” Jarold said.
Draco frowned faintly in thought, trying to think of similar words that would work in this context.
“It’s like, there’s nothing like hitting a bludger and knowing you got the angle and speed just right, seeing it go where you wanted it to go, changing the movement of the whole pitch from one play,” Jarold gestured passionately with his hands.
Draco noticed out of the corner of his eye that some woman walking by the park was glaring at them. Draco recognised her type, the kind that would call the police on you just for existing. He managed to get Jarold to walk out of the park and down the pavement in a random direction without breaking Jarold’s flow of conversation.

Okay so. Kendall and Roman can both drive (not very well in Kendall's case, but he can) and I'm gonna assume Shiv can too. Now it's very possible that Logan just paid for driving lessons (no way is that cunt teaching them himself). But I actually like to think Connor took the initiative here. Okay so you're getting driven everywhere, he thinks, but you're gonna need this skill one day. He knows how to fish and how to camp, surely he knows how to drive. And so he takes every single one out and teaches them.
He finds out Kendall likes to sing and rap along to the music in the car. Connor gets exasperated at about the third playthrough of Licensed To Ill but he still finds it endearing that Ken knows all the words, and it's nice to see his serious little brother actually smiling. He tries to teach Connor the lyrics to Paul Revere, and fails.
Roman is a beast behind the wheel. He has anger issues when he gets in a car. Connor tries to chill him out, though he has to admit some of the insults he comes up with are gold ("loose cunted asscunt" and "used tampon" are his favourites). And while he can't fix the anger issues he manages to get him to stop rolling down the window to flip off cyclists.
Shiv's nervous but she won't show it. She keeps hitting curbs and swearing under her breath, but truly it seems she's about to cry. Connor makes their lessons very short, let's her wind down as they sit in the random parking lot where they were practising parallel parking. They get there slowly and she becomes a better driver than all of them (even the brother who taught her!)
I'm imagining Connor seeing these spoiled kids and going this is a skill you might actually need and if no one's gunna do it I will. And he loves it.

FOR THE HOPE OF IT ALL
Chapter 25: A Gaunt Family Dinner
It's a foggy morning in April when Ominis is heading to meet his family. His fake visit to St Mungos had worked out perfectly and Nurse Blainey was extremely worried about him. Everyone at school seemed to know about his medical condition and it really was the trendiest topic at Hogwarts at the moment. I overheard a younger Slytherin talking about how tragic it was that he finally found love, and now was going to die. I hate rumors like that and even though that could have been the case if he was actually sick, it was highly unlikely to die from Ominis' fake disease.
At first Imelda had been worried sick, which made Ominis eventually give in and tell her that he wasn't actually ill. He didn't tell her the full story, but he did say that he needed to leave school for some personal matters. She didn't like it, but she accepted it.
Ominis had three days to make the prophecy never come true, leave his family with his life intact and return to Hogwarts. It was a very limited schedule and a lot at stake. Lately, Ominis and Sebastian had snuck out of the castle to practise apparition, so that Ominis could transport himself quickly between the locations. He could now do it successfully, but Sebastian and I were both still struggling to master it.
Sebastian and I follow Ominis to the Forbidden Forest, where we walk in silence. We are all nervous and tense, Ominis more than the two of us. Sebastian reaches for my hand and squeezes it quickly before he lets go of it. We reach our decided location and stand still.
''We'll meet here again in three days,'' Sebastian says firmly.
Ominis nods and looks bitten.
''Please, be careful,'' I tell him with a worried look on my face.
''You know me,'' Ominis says in a confident voice. I think it's his way of processing all of this, because I highly doubt that he is actually feeling confident right now. ''I'll come back, so that I can keep giving the two of you relationship advice.''
He has been extremely good at giving the two of us advice, I have to admit that. When I struggled to understand myself, he was there. When I was in doubt, he was there. I feel sad when I think about how good of a friend he has been to me, because I feel as if I'm letting him down now that he's doing this all alone.
''Y/n,'' Ominis says. ''Please make sure Imelda doesn't forget about me.''
''It's just three days,'' I tell him. ''She'll be fine.''
''I know. But still,'' Ominis voice is low.
''I promise, Ominis,'' I tell him and give him a hug.
Sebastian and Ominis hug each other for a long time before Ominis finally says goodbye and disappears within the blink of an eye. I stand in silence with Sebastian, both in shock.
''We must tell the Keepers,'' I say to Sebastian and start walking back towards the castle.
We promised to update them when Ominis left, so they could work their magic. They still haven't told what their part in this plan is, but we figured that it might be our only chance to protect Ominis from afar.
It feels as if the day never ends and it's painful to know that Ominis is out somewhere, sitting at a table being nice to the people who hurt him most. The amount of courage that takes is immaculate. Before he left he explained that despite the pain they put him through, it's going to be painful for him to do what needs to be done. He said that just because people have wronged you, you don't get the right to destroy their lives. And while I know that he's right, I could never put myself through that. Maybe that makes Ominis a better and bigger person than me and that is something I can live with.
Sebastian and I are sitting against the wall in the Undercroft. We have barely spoken throughout the entire day. This is a day of sadness for both of us and it pains us even more that there is absolutely nothing we can do. We are well aware that the fate of the wizarding world lies in Ominis' hands, but his fate is still unknown.
''Come here,'' I tell Sebastian and pull him closer to me. ''What's on your mind?''
''I'm just so worried,'' he says in a low voice. ''And I feel as if all of this is somehow my fault. Of course I know that it's not, but still.''
''I feel the same,'' I admit. Even though it hurts me to know that Sebastian is blaming himself, I find some peace in knowing that I'm not the only one feeling like that. ''He'll be okay.''
''We don't know that,'' Sebastian argues. ''I'm just so upset because our friendship finally recovered from all the awful things last year. And if something were to happen to him, I would just blame myself.''
It kills me to know that he's in so much pain and blames himself over a prophecy that he is in no way responsible for.
''Sebastian,'' I whisper, taking his hand in mine. ''You are in no way responsible for this. You have to stop holding yourself accountable for other people's choices and actions. People have free will.''
He squeezes my hand back.
''I know,'' he says in a low voice. ''I know you're right, but that doesn't make it easier to stop blaming yourself.''
I nod understandingly. He has been through more pain than anyone should experience in a lifetime. Losing his parents, Anne getting cursed, his uncle not wanting to keep trying, Anne leaving him. He lived through so much and I just wish I could take his pain away from him. I'd take it and carry it myself if I could.
''I just miss Anne so much,'' he says. ''I've been trying to forgive myself, but it's just so hard when I know I did the wrong thing.''
''It takes time, love,'' I tell him softly.
Neither of us manages to fall asleep that night. Instead we just sit there in the darkness, holding each other and hoping that everything will work out okay.
The three days have passed and we head back to the Forbidden Forest to meet Ominis. We go there early in the morning, since we have no idea when during the day he will return. The morning turns into afternoon, that turns into night. And there's no signs of Ominis' return, making me and Sebastian extremely worried.
The night is getting colder and darker. After waiting in the forest for almost 14 hours we decide to head back to the castle.
''Maybe he didn't find his way back to our spot and headed back to the castle,'' I say, lying for myself.
''Let's hope you're right,'' Sebastian says in a low voice as we're walking through the forest.
We are standing outside of the entrance to the Slytherin common room when we hear rapid footsteps approaching us. It's almost midnight and we are definitely not supposed to be up at this hour, nor do we want to draw any suspicions to Ominis' trip.
''Mr Sallow! Miss Y/n!'' Sebastian and I turn around to see professor Weasley, who has a concerned look on his face. ''Nurse Blainey has requested the two of you to the Hospital Wing. Try to get there as quick as you can, it's rather urgent.''
Sebastian and I exchange extremely worried looks. His eyes are filled with worry.
''Professor Weasley,'' I say. ''What's the matter?''
She gives us a compassionate look and walks closer to us. I can tell she really does not want to tell what this is all about.
''I think it's best if you see for yourselves,'' she says. Now that she is standing closer to us I can see the worry in her eyes, too. ''Off you go.''

Interrupted.
[Vairg] Of all the people in the compound, i can think of few more spineless than D'khoreh. I'm surprised he's not screamed yet, but he's probably already crying. It's going to get worse than that. But you brought it on yourself. It really isn't all that hard to follow orders!
"KEEP WALKING!" Vairg barks, shoving the smaller Seeker in front of him along the corridor. There was no explanation given, no reason for his sudden removal from the usual activities of the sun, only an insistent pace along the hallway which would see D'khoreh trampled beneath Vairg's heel if he didn't keep up.
D'khoreh staggered along with every shove, whimpering at the sudden roughness and loudness. ".. W-what did I- d-do..?" He questions meekly, his feet moving to the bast of their capability to keep up with Vairg's pace.
"I said -walk-, not ask questions!" Vairg picked up the pace then, metal boots threatening to nip at D'khoreh's heels. He was quickly herded down the corridor towards the arena, now thawed of the ice that had so recently clung to it... And turned towards some of the smaller rooms for less pleasant practises.
The sound of Vairg's boots were well known to Eir, however. The whimper of breath sees him drag himself along the floor to the corner of his cell, leaving a trail in the sand. By now, he'd well noted his surroundings; shackles lined the floor and ceiling, and he could only guess from his previous reading what they'd been used for. Eir's dread filled gaze settles on the door, ears low.
[Eir] ...He approaches again. His footsteps tell me he... Is not alone. For what purpose, this time...? I... I can barely move... ...They will not kill me so soon after this. Not after all the effort to keep me from dying.
D'khoreh bit down as Vairg drew ever closer despite his best attempts to keep up the pace. His tail clung tightly to his legs and his ears pinned to the top of his head - calves aching with every step as he began to walk much quicker than he'd like to, wishing to keep his heels away from Vairg's boots as much as possible. He barely noted his surroundings, too focused on keeping his gaze glued on his own feet and the path he walked, his breaths strangling whimpers whenever the Viera's metal boot came into his view.
As soon as they'd approached the room, a hand shoots out to grab D'khoreh by a shoulder, pushing him front first against the door, where Vairg had expected him to stay as he fished for the key in his pocket. His mismatched gaze falls on that of the Seeker, malicious grin ever at his lips.
...And Eir can only watch and wait, full of dread. In the presence of Vairg's footfalls, he'd barely heard that of another, muffled through the sound though they were.
D'khoreh's body tensed up as he felt Vairg's hand grab onto his shoulder, an almost startled whine leaving the Seeker - only to be shifted into a whimper as his frame soon met the door, body curling and shrinking in the Viera's grip. His head was low, bright eyes glued to the ground as he refused to look up, clearly unsettled by Vairg.
The key is set into the lock and slowly turned with a click, and the door is pushed open. Having nowhere to go but inside, Vairg pushes D'khoreh in with him, standing in the way of the door to block any possible exit. His eyes, then, train in on Eir. "You are looking well." Vairg jeers, before his lofted gaze moves to D'khoreh. "A little too well... Wouldn't you say...?" His tone was accusatory, features sharpened with ill intention and the amusement he had no doubt it would bring him.
[Eir] No... No! Please, not him! He is too kind... He showed me only kindness... ...You punish people even for ther kindness, here? I... How have you managed to last...?
Eir doesn't make a sound. He'd briefly regarded D'khoreh, but where comfort fell last time, only fear came then. He kept his mouth closed, breathing only through his nose as eyes already welled with tears at the appearence of a certain Viera...
D'khoreh stumbled into the room at the shove, gaze finally lifting and a look of horror taking to his features. He looked to Eir, ears flattening as he almost felt Vairg's eyes burrow into him - the accusing tone being enough to make D'khoreh realise why he had been collected. He shrunk down a little and lowered his gaze back to the floor - refusing to look at Vairg. "..I-.. I w-was told to.. h-heal him.. I-.. I did as a-asked.." He whimpered quietly.
"You were told to heal him just enough. Just enough. That's all." Vairg stalks behind him, leaning down to drop his voice. "Eanwin was furious. Bones mended... All my hard work undone. Do you know how that makes me feel, D'khoreh? All the effort i put in to be undone on a whim?" Watching as D'khoreh's gaze fled him, he reaches to grab the Seeker's jaw and jerk it upwards none-too-gently, forcefully meeting their gazes. "LOOK AT ME WHEN I TALK TO YOU! DO YOU KNOW HOW THAT MAKES ME FEEL?"
[Vairg] He's a coward, but there's some fun i find in tormenting him. I'm not even all that angry about what he did, since it means i can break him again if the opportunity arises... ...But he doesn't need to know that. It's fun just to have people afraid of me.
Eir's wide eyed gaze dare not move from him, even if he wasn't the one being addressed in this instance, his breathing begins sharper, faster, heartbeat drumming in his ears.
D'khoreh's eyes widen with fear as Vairg leans down to him, tail tucking between his legs while his ears involuntarily flickered to hear him better before pinning back against his skull anew. ".. I-it made it easier t-to--" His voice died when he felt Vairg's hand clasp onto his jaw, any confidence he had to speak up when not looking at the Viera gone, as if it had never been there. A sharp breeze wanders the area as the Seeker grows more distressed now that his gaze is locked with Vairg's, one hand darting to grasp at the other's wrist, keeping his hands to himself. "..Y-yes.." He whimpered quietly, tears slowly but surely beginning to build up in his eyes.
"No. You don't." D'khoreh is shoved further into the room, a smirk tugging at Vairg's lips. "Oh, but don't you worry. I'm not completely heartless..." Vairg reaches behind himself, to pull a curled whip he'd stowed on his belt, offering it to the Seeker. "I'll give you a chance to fix your mistake..."
Eir had seen the damage whips could do. Seen them, felt the aftermath of them with his own hands. A whimper escapes his throat as he fought to push his back against the wall, in some effort to protect himself.
[Eir] Oh... No... No no no... ...All i can think about is Sayuri and her scars... And all the other things she has suffered through... All the things i have read... ...I know it will hurt. But they will not kill me. ...I am no longer sure if that is a comfort.
D'khoreh staggers further into the room at the shove, his own feet threatening to floor him as he stumbles over them but ultimately manages to catch himself. His gaze locks upon the whip in Vairg's hands, lips parting in a weak gasp at the mere suggestion. "..N-no! I-- I don't h-hurt people!" He protested. "..P-please! I- I won't do it again!"
"Isn't that what you said last time? Or the time before?" The whip is thrust in his direction again as Vairg stared to him. "You did this. Undo it!"
[Vairg] This isn't the first time, and it probably won't be the last. But i thought it a fitting punishment if nothing else...
D'khoreh whimpered and took a step backwards at Vairg thrusted the whip further towards him, keeping his hands lowered with no indication he'd actually take the tool. "..P-please..!" The wind around the Seeker picked up, loose dirt and sand from the floor swirling around his feet.
"Again with the begging." Vairg clicks his tongue, and pulls the whip back. "Fine, fine. I'll just assume you don't know what to do with it. But i can show you, hm? We'll bring your sister in here too. I'll give you a demonstration." Vairg turns, as though he would leave the room in the next moment.
Eir still found himself speechless, either unwanting or unwilling to utter even a single word. The sound of D'khoreh's begging brought a tight knot into the pit of his throat, slowly curling his knees into his chest as he peered pitifully over them.
The mere suggestion of D'nhehli becoming involved made D'khoreh feel nauseous. "..N-no!" He protested, tears finally welling over and streaming down his cheeks. "..N-Nelli had n-nothing to do with it!" He sobbed.
"No? No!" Vairg turns and storms into the room, picking D'khoreh up by the scruff of his shirt and pinning him against the wall."You don't get to dictate your own punishment, D'khoreh!" The whip is thrust into his hand, and Vairg forces his own hand around the Seeker's, to push and curl his fingers around the handle. "And you -will- do it or i swear, i'll whip her until she's bloody, and i'll let her know every lash was because of her pathetic little brother!" Vairg snarls, the anger clearly for show as he failed to hide his amusement only moments later. "And then i'll beat you too for your own disobedience!" Vairg holds him there a little longer, staring and grinning as he often did. "...Unless... You don't plan on being disobedient, hm?"
D'khoreh staggers back a few steps as Vairg storms towards him, trying to distance himself yet not quite so badly it was seemed as an attempt to run away. He yelps outloud as he feels his back meet the wall, eyes widening in sheer terror as the wind in the room grows much sharper with his growing distress. He reluctantly grasps onto the whip as Vairg forcefully shoves it into his palm and closes his fingers around the handle. He doesn't say a word and simply sobs, his head dipping down and eyes shutting tightly as he tries to avoid Vairg's gaze. His head shook weakly.
"Good." He is dropped and shoved towards Eir, as Vairg props one arm up to lean against the wall and watch. "I'll tell you when you can stop."
Eir stares in horror at D'khoreh; horror that was not meant for him. Sucking up a breath, he shields his face with his arms, curling into a ball. He made no effort to evade, no effort to move, not that he could have done so much in his wounded state anyway. Face obscured, Eir fights the terrified little sob from leaving his throat, moving in only a small shudder.
[Eir] ...It is going to hurt. ...I feel terrible for the Keeper. He does not want to do this any more than i want to feel it. We are both victims here... I hold no blame to him, only to the monster in the room with us.
D'khoreh once again staggers forwards from the shove, his eyes having reluctantly pried open to look down at the tool in his hands - a look of nausea clinging to his features."..I-.. I am-.. s-sorry.." He sobbed quietly to Eir and he uncomfortably shifted the whip in his grip before extending a shaky arm outwards. In no way was it the proper way to hold it, and as he swung it, it gained no true power in its swipe, lightly batting it against one of Eir's thighs. A truly pathetic attempt was made.
"It... It is okay..." Eir manages, in the quietest waver of a voice as he shrinks away all the more tightly. Inhaling, he braces himself for the impact... To feel the faintest of thwaps against his thigh. Eir didn't even flinch. Still... He doesn't dare move.
[Vairg] Pathetic! Must i do everything myself when it comes to these two?
Vairg watches the lackluster attempt through mismatched eyes that slowly roll around the room, up to the ceiling, and back. "Like you -mean it-, D'khoreh!" Vairg snaps, some genuine impatience now clinging to his tone. "Don't make me show you how it's done. AGAIN!"
D'khoreh sobbed, slowly raising the whip anew… And halting right there, as...
...Another Seeker slipped into the room through the open door, one foot ramming against it's surface to announce her arrival. Vex briefly eyed Eir and D'khoreh, before staring at Vairg. "Is Grym not letting you play on your own, Vairg?" "Fuck off, Vex. Don't you have something better to do?" Vairg barked. He turned to face her immediately, attention pulled from D'khoreh.
[Vairg] I could really do without her presence, too. What does she want, hm? Is she here to simply annoy me, or does she have a reason? Here for her friend, perhaps?
Eir simply remained and listened. He wouldn't move. Not an ilm, if he could help it. D'khoreh's body slouched, the whip immediately lowering as Vex's voice rang out. He turned to look in her direction, not making a single sound.
"Fuck off yourself." Vex quipped, wandering further into the room."I don't, actually. Don't you? Or have you been downgraded into babysitting now that you can't bully him too badly?" She gestured Eir's way, tilting her head. "I'm doing as i'm told. Something you should invest in more often. Now -fuck off-, Vex." Vairg's words were now decidedly a snap as he shoved her, attempting to remove her from the room."He's no longer a concern of mine. Maybe if your friends weren't so disobedient, i wouldn't have to beat some sense into them!" "You mistake me for someone who gives a shit what you fuckers tell me to do."Vex huffed. She stood her ground as Vairg shoved at her, staggering a step before seeking to slip herself down under his arm to shove herself past him instead to get further into the room, having absolutely no intentions to leave, and every intention to live up to her name. "Aw. What happened? Did Grym decide you weren't good enough anymore?" She jeered. "You two who were becoming such good friends, too!" "Grym has -exactly- what he needs. The girl is his. I was simply playing my part." He inclines his head as he turns in Vex's direction, attempting to backhand her into one of the walls of the room."I will get my reward in loyalty. Not that i expect you to understand." Now disregarding both D'khoreh and Eir, Vairg looked about ready to fight, attention fully taken by Vex. Vex made no attempt to move out of the way, her body swiftly colliding with the wall only for her to push herself off it again with a small snort of a laugh. "Sure. The girl." Vex smiled, a thing certainly not seen often. "She has killed two people since arriving here, you know. Indirectly been the cause of a third. Not sure -that- is what Grym needed."She cast a brief glance Eir's way, before looking back to Vairg. "Sure you will. Reward for your loyalty to the biggest asshole I've ever met. You have fun with that."
[Eir] ...She has killed. She... She has not given up. She is still fighting. ...I have heard the voice of this woman before, but i have never seen her. She... Is trying to protect us? Or... At least, protect him. I do not know. ...But i am thankful.
"Pathetic and weak, all of them. Alive only by their usefulness… Until they outlive it." He cuts a glance to Eir and then to D'khoreh, a wicked smirk curling onto his features which sours a little when he finds Vex again. "I don't care so long as i get to fight. And he doesn't care so long as i listen. It is a mutual arrangement, and has been as long as i've been in these halls. I'll have plenty of fun with it." He cuts a glare to D'khoreh once more. "Did i tell you you could stop?!" D'khoreh immediately flinches, drawing a sharp gasp as Vairg remembered he was there, ears flattening anew after having risen just a bit.
Vex in the meantime wanders forwards to close the distance between herself and Vairg, leaning closer to the Viera with her head tilted. "How long will it take for -you- to outlive your usefulness to him?" She smiled, certainly trying to get his attention on herself rather than the others. Vairg's ear twitches briefly at Vex's words. Turning sharply from D'khoreh, Vairg swings for Vex with a fist, aiming to land a solid punch against the side of her jaw. "I -won't-." He huffs, confident in his answer. "I will always be useful. You're only alive because you still have use. I wonder who will be the one to put you down, hm? When the Boss finds a replacement who isn't quite so belligerent as you?" Vex staggers with an automatic snarl as Vairg's fist rams into her jaw, flickers of flame springing forth and shifting across her frame. "Do you think it will be you, once Grym -finally- decides to free me from this?" She scoffed, flashing a new grin his way. "Ariq will be the one, he has assured me. Are you going to pry me from him, Vairg?" The Seeker spoke in a taunting tone. The concept of dying is clearly not a threat to the young woman, if anything - she seems to welcome it. "Should I be flattered?" Eir flinches at the sound, daring to peek over his knees at the scene. But he doesn't move, still. His silver gaze drifts between D'khoreh and Vex, knit with worry. "It will be whoever Grym deems fit for it. Even Ariq should know that. But i could, if i wanted to." Already, Vairg looks bored of Vex, knowing well of her condition. "I tire of beating you when you can't fight back. You're poor sport, Vex." He cuts a gaze to Eir. "Just like you."
[Vairg] She'd be fun to fight if she wasn't restrained the way she was. And beating people is only fun if they're afraid of you. Vex isn't afraid to die. That's what she wants, and we won't give it to her. There's no fun in fighting her the way she is now.
D'khoreh frowned weakly, certainly not enjoying seeing Vex get hurt - but he says nothing. Thankful for the moment of respite from Vairg's cruelty.
"Who do you think has a bigger chance to get it, hm? You, or his own council member?" Vex rocked herself back and forth, keeping a grin on her lips. "You should be happy I can't. I'd kick your ass." She spoke with clear confidence, certainly having no doubt in her mind that she'd win. "I don't particularly care either way. If not you, then there will always be someone else i can fight." At the mere suggestion of his own idea, Vairg seems to brighten a bit. "Perhaps the girl will need a punishment for all the killings. She will be better sport than you."
Eir's expression shifts to a glare over his knees, that doesn't even wilt as Vairg meets it.
[Eir] ...Do not fucking touch her, you bastard! Do not... Touch her. She has suffered enough. She has suffered enough!
Vex squinted briefly at Vairg, lips tugging into a temporary thin line. That's certainly not the idea she wanted him to have."Really?" She snorted. "Did you see Silver Cliff's corpse before he was thrown out? Because in case you didn't.. His skull was caved in. By Grym. For touching her. Why the hell would you be any different?" "Because i'd -ask- first." Vairg smirks. "You think i'm stupid enough to do something like that without his permission? No. I will have my chance, but it will be on his terms. I am sure he will give me plenty to do in the meantime until then." He narrows his gaze to D'khoreh again, and then back to Vex. "Maybe -you're- overdue a punishment for interrupting one of mine, hm?" "Hm. -Do- I think you're stupid… Yes. I do, actually." Vex, once again, smiled - a cocky, disingenuous one, this time. "Oh, am I? I admit, it's been like five minutes since I was punched last time."
D'khoreh's ears drooped, a small whimper leaving him. Vairg's teeth grit, before he runs his tongue over them with a smirk. He lunges after her to pull an arm around her neck, drawing her into a headlock, knowing well she was unable to fight back with her restrictions. "Then, let's go find out, hm? Let's see what Grym will make of your interruptions, this sun!" He drags her towards the door, and narrows his eyes to D'khoreh. "OUT!" He barks, and waits, key in hand, having managed to wrest it from his pocket. Vex remains where she's stood as Vairg lunges at her, making no attempt to flee him as his arm coils around her neck and locks her in place. She grunts, her arms darting up to grasp at his arm while seeking to wriggle her fingers in between her throat and his arm in some attempt to keep herself breathing. Despite the obvious discomfort, she passes a softer glance both D'khoreh and Eir's way, something that lasts only for a moment before her features pull into a feigned frown as she's dragged with Vairg.
D'khoreh briefly meets Vex's gaze, ears flattening further. He spares no moment to hurry out the door at the barked order, not intending to undo Vex's sacrifice by angering Vairg and getting his attention back on him. "Go back to where i dragged you from." Vairg snarls at D'khoreh, passing a glance at Eir. "…Don't think this is over." Setting the key into the lock, he locks the door, then heaves Vex into a more firm grasp, beginning to drag her along the corridor towards Grym's office.
[Vairg] Frustration after frustration. No matter, i'll just find him and drag him back whenever i'm done with her with whatever Grym decides. She's a pain in the ass, but not one i can exactly ignore.
Eir only relaxes somewhat when the door is closed, and the sound of the lock rings out in the room. He'd caught the look in Vex's eyes before she was taken, and was silently thankful for her interruption… Even if he could only imagine the amount of trouble she had gotten herself into for both his sake and D'khoreh's.
[Eir] ...She was here for both of us. She came to help... ...Why?

Sustainable Health Routine for a Better Future
Greetings, fellow readers and activists! Today I want to briefly discuss the benefits of adopting a sustainable strategy for maintaining our health. This is beneficial for the environment as well as for our personal health. I have personal experience of how adopting sustainable practices and healthy habits will enhance our physical and mental well-being while also lowering our carbon impact. We have a chance to create real change by eating a plant-based diet, choosing mindful habits, incorporating eco-practices like bicycling instead of driving and using reusable products. Join on this journey as we explore how sustainability and wellness go hand in hand to create an Earth and improve our quality of life.
We have the power to make a difference in both our own health and the environment by supporting the consumption of plant-based meals and promoting sustainable lifestyle practices. So many studies have demonstrated that a poor diet can significantly increase the risk of developing respiratory illnesses, cardiac issues and also cancer when combined with environmental issues like air pollution and water contamination. As a result it is crucial to have access to clean water, sufficient sanitation accessbility and healthcare services in order to keep our overall health good. Furthermore, by including sustainable practices into our exercise routines like choosing environmentally friendly workout attire or considering alternatives to driving which can be walking or bicycling, we not only encourage physical fitness but also actively minimise harmful gases released into the environment. My own personal experience has shown significant changes when using mindfulness methods like meditation to reduce stress levels and establishing sustainable practices in everyday life choices. Feeling less fatigue and improved overall mental and physical health were the results of higher energy levels gained by switching to plant-based eating habits combined with sustainable decisions. By putting a healthy lifestyle first, we can achieve happiness, productivity and also contribute to a healthier planet.
This is the real fantastic news. We can reduce these worries while also enhancing our general wellbeing by following a clear health routine. By choosing to walk or bike instead of use a car, we are reducing the harmful emissions that contribute to air pollution which is a significant cause of the wide range of health problems listed earlier. Air pollution, water contamination and other environmental issues are very closely linked to respiratory illnesses, heart illnesses and also cancer. Global health is significantly impacted by the effects of climate change, which increases disease transmission, air pollution and make it more difficult to get clean water. To reduce pollution we must be aware of the importance of what we do to the environment. By addressing concerns such as climate change and its effects on disease transmission, air pollution and accessibility to clean water, sustainability practices play a crucial role here by enhancing global health. Choosing sustainable practices like cutting back on meat consumption and choosing eco-friendly forms of transportation like cycling can help sustain a clean environment that protects public health. It is high time for us to prioritise sustainable living by putting in action initiatives that promote a healthier world.
Making positive changes involves switching to environmentally friendly exercise equipment and sustainable gym practices. This not only reduces carbon footprints but also reduces resource usage and promotes healthier environments. Following sustainable practises goes beyond maintaining a person's physical health. It has the capacity to enhance our mental wellness as well. Our general state of mind can be greatly improved by engaging with nature, practising mindfulness, and implementing eco-friendly habits. By creating a closer connection with not just ourselves but with others and the world around us, religion and spirituality plays a vital role in helping us to move towards sustainability. True wellness comes from choosing a holistic approach that values both individual well-being and the sustainability of the planet we live in. We can successfully lower stress levels while also encouraging better mental well-being through mindful activities like meditation and choosing sustainable lifestyle choices, all while coexisting peacefully with our surroundings.
Through my personal journey, I have personally been a witness to the incredible advantages of maintaining a sustainable approach to overall well-being. By sticking to a balanced nutritional plan, choosing environmentally-friendly practices and nurturing my spirituality, I have not only achieved personal success and sustained a healthy weight but also made significant contributions towards promoting a sustainable future. As someone who has wholeheartedly enjoyed this transformative voyage by diligently attending the gym regularly over the course of the past year while adopting mindful eating patterns, I am absolutely thrilled for the remarkable transformations! Apart from achieving goals such as shedding kilos and enhancing physical appearance (cue heightened confidence), my commitment has played an crucial role in encouraging advancements pertaining to sustainable progress. It is important to acknowledge that little steps and gradual endeavors hold immeasurable importance when they are all diligently together! Since starting my gym routine approximately one year ago coupled with sticking to a nourishing diet rich in protein alongside cultivation of mindfulness and spiritual practices, I have experienced tremendous accomplishment with respect to weight loss maintenance, overall fitness maintenance whilst concurrently contributing positively towards endorsing sustainability on both local and global scales.
In conclusion, it is critical that we take advantage of this opportunity as a whole and make important decisions that will improve both our physical health and the health of our world as a whole. Multiple studies offer solid evidence demonstrating the connection between sustainable practices and better health outcomes, including decreased disease risks and longer lifespans. We shouldn't be intimidated by making sustainable changes in our daily lives because by implementing small changes like having a plant-based diet, walking or biking instead of driving, eco-friendly and sustainable workout clothes and gear, sustainable gym practices, meditation and religion, we can actually have a big influence. Let's promote eco-friendly practices and raise awareness in our communities as a team to nurture the earth and ourselves. Remember, every small step counts. Stay inspired, stay healthy, and stay sustainable as we embark on this transformative journey together!

Mental Illness & Witchcraft | How I Use My Craft to Cope | Protection
Introduction
So, the topic for my first-ever blog series focuses on how I use my personal witchcraft practises to help me cope with and deal with my own mental illnesses better. Now, a big disclaimer I'd like to place here is that witchcraft isn't the only thing I use to help me cope better. In fact, I actively go to therapy and often exercise other coping mechanisms such as artistic hobbies, music, and generally just doing things I love and enjoy. My witchy practises are meant to enhance what is already there; such as positivity, the flowing of my emotions, and giving myself the strength to get through hard times. In general, I'm trying to say that you shouldn't rely too heavily on your craft for things like this or anything else. Always practise mundane options before turning to magic. This isn't necessarily a "rule," but more so just something that could help you in the long run, especially mentally. The main types of practises I use to help me cope are protection, attraction, and cleansing. And most of it is made up of small, 5–10 minute tasks that I can do daily, weekly, monthly, or just whenever I feel like it, with the occasional spell thrown in. I will be splitting this topic into separate blog posts to cover those categories because otherwise, this would be too long to bear.
Protection
When it comes down to it, protection is probably one of the most important things to learn when you become involved with the craft. Especially if your own craft involves hexes, curses, and the like. However, it can also be used in a type of practise that includes learning how to deal with much different negativity in your life. It could be something as simple as anointing yourself with protection oils, or something a little bigger, such as preparing a spell jar to carry around with you. I will be talking about my favourites to use here, which are: charmed jewelry, crystal magick, oils, and sigils. I will be sorting these from simplest to most complicated and time-consuming.How does protection correlate with coping with mental illness? Well, that is simple. For me, spiritual protection not only protects me from most negativity that may cause me to have a negative episode, but it also gives me the mindset that I am strong enough to get through anything.
Sigils and Oils
Sigils and oils are tools used in witchcraft that can either be used by themselves for quick, easy work or used in more significant magickal projects as a boost to the intentions and energy of said magickal projects. You can make them part of your everyday routine or just use them whenever you feel like it. It doesn't matter. However, what does matter is that you make them tie into your craft in whichever way works best for you. Allow no one to tell you what is the "right" or "wrong" way to use them. If you would like to know more about sigils and how to create and use them, I recommend referring to The Witch of Wonderlust's The Basics of Sigil Making video. As for how to use oils, I recommend the Chaotic Witch Aunt's Daily Personal Practices video. But for now, in this blog post, we will talk about how they best correlate with protecting your mental health. So, the method I recommend using can be used as many times as you like throughout the day, throughout the week, etc. And this method involves writing sigils on your body using the oils. For this method, I recommend using anointing oils with roller tops, but if you can't find a good enough pre-made oil with a roller top, any kind of protection-focused oil will suffice. What you'll want to do is either use the roller top, or dip the tip of your finger in the oil, and draw the protection sigil of your choice on your wrists, over your heart, or wherever you think would work best for you. Remember to keep your intention in mind while you do this. You can do that by repeating in your head or out loud, "I am anointing myself with this oil so that I may be protected from any negative energy throughout my day or week." You can then activate it to get the best performance out of it by using kinetic energy. Rubbing in the oil after drawing the sigil with it would work perfectly fine. It all comes down to what you believe is best for you to be protected while also feeling protected. It's all about mindset and belief.
Crystal Magick
Just like sigils and oils, crystals can be used as a way to enhance your spellwork, or they can be used by simply charging them with intention and carrying them around. A really good crystal that I enjoy working with when it comes to protection is black tourmaline. I just tend to connect really well with this type of crystal, and it has really strong protection properties from what I've experienced working with it. However, what type of crystal you use is up to you; just make sure that the type correlates with your intention. If you're out at a crystal shop and not sure what a crystal may be used best for, talk to one of the people at the shop, or some of my favourite shops put little information slips with their crystals. Once you have your crystal, what you're going to want to do is first cleanse it. This is to get rid of any unwanted energy that it may be holding onto after spending a while in a public setting. Then, you can either hold it in your hand or put your hands over it and repeat your intention in your mind while you envision your own energy surrounding it and going inside of it. Usually the phrase I repeat in my mind for good protection is "I am charging this crystal to protect me from any and all negative energy throughout the day." You could do this for two minutes, five minutes, or however long feels best for you.
Charmed Jewelry
Charming jewellery is a type of spell work in which you can add a magical benefit to something you can wear and thus carry with you wherever you go. You can charm jewellery with any sort of intent, may it be boosting your self-esteem, adding a little bit of extra luck to your daily routine, or, in this case, protecting yourself against negative energy. If you'd like to know some really good methods for charming your jewelry, I recommend watching The Chaotic Witch Aunt's Charging and Charming Jewelry video that covers the topic, or The Witch of Wonderlust also has a great video that covers this topic called Charming, Charging, and Enchanting Jewelry Remember to keep your intention in mind when charming your jewelry, regardless of the method you use. All of these methods I have written about are meant to allow you to focus on yourself and block out any sort of negative energy that may reach you and put you in a bad state of mind. Whether it be carrying crystals, wearing jewelry, or anointing yourself with sigils and oils, these are all guaranteed to not only protect you but also allow you to feel safe. However, keep in mind that what I have written about is mainly energy-focused; you could adjust them to your liking to prevent physically negative things from happening too. In the next blog post, I will be talking about primarily the same subject, but this time in the attraction category, which talks about how to attract positive and good type of energies towards you to give you a boost on good days and bad days. I sincerely hope you enjoyed what I wrote today and that it helped you deal with your mental illness through your craft.

a/n: this story was originally written like 2018 on wattpad (link) so I thought why not bring it over. It being from 2018 there may be a few things such as age gaps that don’t quite make sense but I’ve tried to edit through. I will be updating every few days so stay tuned for more!
Tumblr media
Being immortal may sound amazing, you don't need to worry about time, you don't age, and death well it's not much of an issue. Although there are always downsides to the positives, you always end up alone in the end, the only constant is my family. We aren't what you usually link with immortality, vampires, we are more like what people think witches are. We have powers and can do spells, but we aren't as physically weak as the myths of witches. There is only one known way to completely kill us, for us to die after ingesting ghost orchids, which thanks to my brothers, is one of the rarest plants in the world. My older brothers, Kyungho, who is 5 years older than me, and Dohyun, who is 3 years older than me, made it their goal around a hundred years ago to make the ghost orchid close to extinct and make sure we were the only ones to own the plant after it was used against our oldest sister Seondeok by a witch trying to remove our existence from Earth.
We became this way in the year 520, meaning we have been this way for over 1500 years, by our parents who were practising witches. Our parents were the head of the community, so they had access to all the power of the rest of the witches, so they used it to protect their four children against the illness and poverty of our village. The spell itself took a sacrifice, our father, to complete, but after the village found out what happened, they killed our mother as well, leaving the four of us alone. The villagers completely destroyed our home trying to find my mother's spell book, to destroy this spell as they believed it would only cause evil, but I took it before my siblings, and I left and have never shown it to another person.
The death of our sister sent Kyungho into a spiral, and he left Dohyun and I alone after they got rid of the ghost orchid, so since then we have been looking for him. Kyungho and Seondeok were only a year apart in age, so they always grew up like twins, and Seondeok had taken over the role as all of our guardians after the passing of our parents. We traced Kyungho down to Seoul, which conveniently is very close to the village we originally called home.
"Remind me why I am the one being sent to school?" I asked Dohyun as he handed my backpack to me with massive grin on his face, I swear I'm always the one being put into these situations.
"Because I clearly look like the older one out of the two of us, plus you are technically still 17 Seonhwa" He explained grabbing my shoulders and turning me around to push me out of the front door and towards his car.
"Yeah, but why school? How am I meant to help find Kyungho in a confined space with a bunch of teenagers for half my day?" I questioned him as we both sat down in the car.
"Because we need to keep as low a profile as possible, and I'm sure a 17 year old girl running around in the middle of the day isn't low profile. Now I'll keep eye on the area with working in the police station and I'll let you know when I find anything" He explained, I just took that as the end of the conversation, unwilling to continue in circles. We quietly sat in the car for the rest of the drive to the school, which was only around 5 minutes away.
"So just try your hardest to keep a low profile and make some friends," Dohyun said as I got out of the car "See you later" He quickly shouted as I closed the door. This must be around the tenth time I had become a high school student over the years, but the first time back in Seoul. My siblings and I tried to live a life in as many countries as possible, but almost every time was found out and chased out of the cities. We were unwanted by witches but were feared by humans, mainly thought of as a myth.
I walked into the main office of the school after receiving many looks off of students, obviously wondering who I was. As much as my brother wanted me to, I did not care for making friends, I was purely there to get Kyungho back.
Now you may wonder why we continue living on after all these years, well we all have our own reasons. Kyungho has dedicated himself to revenge, which I never fully agreed with, he spent many years tracking down and killing the ancestors of those who killed our mother. Dohyun on the other hand lives for us all, he always wanted the rest of us to find happiness and love, which links to Seondeok, she kept going to try to find her true love, he died from illness back when we were all still mortal, so she was looking for him reincarnated. Then that leaves me, I was always unsure on why I kept going, maybe it was the guilt of leaving my siblings, being the youngest they were always so protective of me, and after Seondeok's death, I never wanted either of my brothers to go through that again. For now, the reason is finding Kyungho, then after that, I just need to look for another reason.
"Hi I'm the new student Sohee," I said to the woman at the front office. I used a fake name as my name is rather old sounding, Dohyun thought it was best for me to use a more modern name to fit in more.
The woman just looked at me before looking back at her screen to find me, she quickly wrote something onto a sticky note and handed it over to me, it had my classroom on it. She never looked back at me so I assumed that just meant for me to go find the room myself.
I quickly turned away from the desk and accidentally bumped into a boy who was taller than me.
"Oh I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have been standing so close" He apologised after holding me, stopping me from falling over.
"It's okay," I said stepping back, giving myself some distance from the boy.
"I'm Kim Seungmin, are you new?" He asked, obviously noticing he had never seen me around before, this was a rather small school, only having one class per year group.
"Oh yeah, I'm Sohee," I told him as he looked down at the note in my hand.
"Ah we are in the same year, do you need help getting to the class" I responded with a quick nod. "Well I'm just grabbing some books from the teacher's office so if you want to come with me I'll show you to the class," He said, as we quickly walked to the office.
I stood a bit behind him as we walked down the hallway, not really wanting to start a whole conversation. We arrived at the office and I stayed outside as Seungmin walked over to one of the desks, I looked around the room to see a few teachers sitting at their desks with some students doing what I presume is the same as Seungmin.
"Okay, let's head to the class," Seungmin said with a smile as he walked over to me. I just quietly followed again while looking around the hallways, they were as you see almost every school, the walls an off-white colour with many windows looking out across the front of the school. We soon stopped outside one of the classrooms as Seungmin opened the door.
He walked over to whom I presumed was the teacher and handed over the books he had been carrying.
"Here you go, and this is Sohee, she's the new student" Seungmin explained to the teacher.
"Thank you Seungmin," The teacher said as Seungmin went to go sit down leaving us. "Hi Sohee, I am Mr Lee and I will be your homeroom teacher" He started as he opened a drawer in his desk, pulling out a padlock.
"Take this and choose any of the empty lockers at the back of the room, you can use them to put any belongs in that you do not wish to take home or to leave your PE clothes in," he said making me look back, you could tell which ones were used and which were empty as most the student had decorated the outside. "All we ask is nothing permanent decorating them, apart from that it's up to you" He explained to me as I nodded. "Now there is a few spare seats up the back and all the other students are here so feel free to take any" He explained, and I began walking to the back of the classroom, a few students looked over at me, but most were too engrossed in their own conversations.
I took an empty seat at the back next to the window and pulled out the few supplies from my bag.
"You're new," A boy said from in front of make making me look up from my bag.
"Um yeah" I responded going back to what I was doing, placing my bag onto the ground.
"I'm Jisung" He smiled and held out his hand to shake mine.
"Sohee" I said looking at his hand, obviously not willing to take it.
"Not a hand shaker, noted" he said taking his hand back. "Well if you need anything let me know" He added before quickly turning away, he must have noticed my lack of interest in the conversation.
I arranged my notepads and pens onto desk before starting to doodle on the front of one of them. School was really the last place I wanted to be and despite being 1520 years old, my brother still saw me as his 17-year-old sister, therefore making me come here. I understood that if people saw me at home or out around school hours they may question my brother and I so I guess this was the easiest way around it.
"Alright class, we have no new announcements apart from our new student Sohee, so everyone please be nice and make her feel welcome" Mr Lee said making everyone turn to look at me, including those who ignored my presence before. "Now since we have nothing else to discuss use the next ten minutes till your first class wisely" He said as everyone began going back to their previous conversations.
Once Mr Lee left the classroom I saw Seungmin walking over towards me before taking the empty seat next to me.
"So you picked a locker yet?" He asked me and I responded with a quick "nope".
"Well come on and choose one" He said standing up, there was no point in arguing as I could tell Seungmin was the enthusiastic and motivating type. I quickly stood up after him and walked over next to him.
"The one next to me is free if you want it" He suggested smiling to me again.
"Yeah sure" I said as he opened the locker door.
"Now I suggest gift wrapping paper to cover it as its easy to wrap around it if you're wanting to decorate it, also most people have pictures of their family or friends inside" He explained as I took a closer look at the lockers. Most were, as he explained, covered in gift wrapping paper and had sticker letters on them spelling out their names. Seungmin quickly opened his locker and pointed in it.
"Here is a picture of my little sister and I" He showed me as I saw the picture of him with a small girl who looked no older than ten. "She is really annoying, but I guess that is how siblings are" He laughed.
"Tell me about it" I quickly said without really thinking first.
"You got siblings?" He asked.
"Yeah two older brothers and I used to have an older sister" I told him quickly, hoping the 'used to' would get him to stop talking to me, which lucky for me it did.
"Well I'll let you sort out your locker" He awkwardly said before walking back to his seat. I closed the locker and put on the lock the teacher had gave me, before heading back over to my seat.
"Damn how'd you do that?" Jisung said to me once I had sat down.
"Done what?" I asked him.
"Got rid of Seungmin, he always glues himself to the new students to try show them around, he really nice but can be overbearing" He explained to me taking a sip of his water.
"I mentioned my dead sister" I bluntly said making him almost choke.
"Well that's one way to do it" He said before turning back around to face the front of the classroom. Well I guess if I need out a conversation that is the easy out.
A teacher soon walked into the classroom and every one of the student quickly went quiet. This school was known for being one of the top in the country and I was starting to notice that. All the students seems very serious about their studies, and from what I could tell so far was they were all very smart, although I did not have much to go off of so far.
"Right so today we will be getting into our project groups" The teacher explained, I could tell from the books that everyone pulled out, she was the history teacher. History, as much as I am good at it, I dislike the subjects. Who wants to constantly write about their own past and the time periods they lived through. I understand teaching the youth about the countries past to not repeat Wars and such, but been there, done that.
"So please look at the board at the front and get into the groups you see" She explained as she put up the groups onto the board. I quickly looked through the list and found my name, which I half expected to not even be there, in a group with both the boys I had met this morning, Seungmin and Jisung along with another name I did not recognise.
"Look like you're stuck with me" Jisung said turning around to me as I saw Seungmin walking over with another boy who I assumed was the other one in our group. Seungmin sat in the seat next to me as the other boy took the seat next to Jisung.
"This is Sohee" Seungmin said to the other boy as he nodded.
"Hi I'm Hyunjin" He said smiling to me. It appeared he was a mix between Jisung and Seungmin, he had the approachable smile that Seungmin showed and seemed as outgoing as Jisung. I gave him a quick nod as response.
"So you will all choose a ruler or Royalty of Korea, or any historical Kingdom of Korea, and make a presentation on them" the teacher told us all, as the boys began discussing choices.
"I think we should do Queen Seondeok, there is plenty on her life and many dramas have been made" Seungmin suddenly making me slightly shocked, his first thought really had to be my dead sister? I hoped they wouldn't chose anything to do with my past but I guess that's just my luck.

they missed my hearttt (or did i?)
Hey!! no i didn't just abandon everyone, ok i kinda did i've been thinking about abandonment after entering a chapter in our lives,, abandonment of ur previous life, maybe previous friends, well not all of them but def some... the dynamics just dont stay the same :/ thats what i'll talk about here , new chapters in lives , and where things change, some for the better, some not so. the issue has been bugging my human for a while now, on how much their life changed when they entered this page in their life book. so naturally, i took an interest in it too, because they're one of the few people i actually care for a lot :>
Tumblr media
been really obsessed w this song lately " Downriver from the Moundsville Prison graveyard" its crazy how much you humans need to change temperaments when going away from your homes for the first time. especially for the highly agreeable types, the real world can be *hell*. at some point or the other, and to be real, probably very soon, you'll be..exploited. for your state of being. for your mind. for your efforts. for everything which should be celebrated in a utopic society, you'll be used, till you cant anymore, whats the point, what the fuck are ethics in this dystopia? so you adapt. your tender being hardens, being taken over by one of the few possible scenarios - the type to never open up again, not have an outer persona at all, just a shell, the well intent siren that has now lost its voice in this surface market. OR you'll bury it deep within you, and very carefully craft an outer persona - one that sets boundaries, knows how to be a functioning member of society (to varying extents), and takes part in the great facade themselves - they become what they swore to destroy. Selfishness takes over, and can you even blame them? isn't it the world that *forced* them to be as such? and yet they yearn...for the home that cant be anymore. OR you'll become cold. you hold the world at an arm's length, you dont let anyone close, you're too smart for that to happen. you dont trust these puny humans, what have they ever done good for you anyway? you start neglecting the realm of emotions,,,both others' and yours. and in my personal opinion, thats the worst person to be. OR you'll be good at this shit. you can be cold, but present as a chill person with little on their mind. your general attitude towards people is "decent till observed otherwise" - you take things less personally, you do well in your work, you have a fantastic outer aura,,,and inside you're dying. you need a home. someone who values your empathy instead of using it, someone who heals the healer, listens to the listener, comforts the comforter,, and often times when such a person is found, the human spills themselves too quick. all their deepest parts, all conversed upon in a matter of weeks. it then depends on the people and the situations where this leads them.. my human falls in the last one :/ at this point you debate what to do. you have two choices - either be you. the core you. the giver, who thinks of others before themselves, the conscientious, who believes in self competency, the agreeable, with no ill motives, and at the same time, the exploited, who just keeps getting used. the alternative can be a scary step. you start to notice the bad in people - back bitching, genuine words of hate, ill intent being practised in real time (including selective inclusion/exclusion, topics being discussed only with some people, money matters, bigotry in religious/queer realms etc etc). and you start choosing some of these too. the start is always slow. you begin with preferential treatment - not treating everyone the same, being kind to some while cold to others, the whole package. it eventually leads to fake laughs and small talk, and (the most significant part, imo) building "work friend" connections. these are people you only know to use them, to gain something from them, and they most probably treat you the same way. and yk whats the worst part ? this loveless bond is sometimes more fulfilling than the love ones .. " Sometimes it's easier to be fake than it is to be not. " and that, is a *bad* fact of reality but we all live in the same world. so no point whining,, or is that whole thought process just wrong?
Tumblr media
^^ Joe Goldeberg, from the show "You", is a pretty good example of a kind soul turned dark by the world and life. so i leave this for you guys to decide - do you take the spear of manipulation for your own use? or do you bind to your own ethics and forever bask in the comfort that you were stronger, because you never lost yourself ? thats x8c signing off. until next time, humans (︶^︶)

I finish up in the shower the heat in the bathroom from the shower was just genuinely irritating so I didn't stay in very long , I can say I probably smell and look a lot better than I did 20 minutes ago but I can't say I feel any better maybe even worse but hey we push on. I lay on my bed wrapped in my towel for about a half hour where I just sit and watch YouTube videos. While I was in the shower Jamie and Ross had sent messages asking where I was at lunch, so I replied to them both just saying I went home but not to worry I'm fine. I know they'll worry but its okay if I say I'm fine. I have an hour or so till work after my YouTube video finishes so I find an old GCSE paper for History and just try to work through that, It involves a lot of essay writing and answering really big questions, This particular paper is about historic medical practises and I can chat on about that all day, working on this really helps me calm down as it's something I know a lot about and can control what happens for a while , during the world crumbling and spiralling out of control around me. I time it too make sure Ill be able to do it correctly on the day, The general exam is an hour and a half long, so I try to complete it in an hour and fifteen minutes, so it gives me at least fifteen minutes to get ready for work and leave. I do well with it and complete it just in time. Now I must get ready for work I put on my skinny jeans and converse and the t shirt that I need to wear for work and pull my hoodie over the top. The journey takes about 10 minutes on my bike, so I jump on my bike and start heading to work. I also just realised my mum never came home so she must be working later .Work isn't too busy when I clock in so it wont be too bad but I head over to my manager and ask him if I can just do some stock taking out back as I'm only here for a few hours and my head is splitting but a lot of stock taking has already been done so I have to go out and just make coffees for people which I was really hoping to avoid but hey ho. I clock in and start working. Its not all the busy all that comes in is a few school kids as its 3:30 and school has just finished. I'm in for about twenty minutes when I hear Ross and Jamie come in loud as ever "MATTY" I hear them calling from the door and I wave them over they come bounding over and sit on the stalls at the front coffee bar and I slide over to them "Hey guys."
"Hiya mate, can we get two lattes."
"You sure can" I busy myself with making their coffees. Hoping to God, they don't ask me why I went home early but I know they will. Once I hand them over, they both drop their bags next to them and get comfortable "So why'd you go home early."
"Just didn't feel great, you know how it is "I shrug trying to be nonchalant about it.
"Miss Conners came to speak to us at lunch asking us to keep an eye on you, do we have to be concerned" Ross speaks up.
"No bro honestly, I'm fine, I wish everyone would stop asking me."
I move over to the other end of the bar and serve an older looking women who has been waiting a couple of minutes just to get away from the guys for a second "Hello Miss , what can I get for you?" she ponders for a minute about what she would like "Can I just get a cappuccino please young man"
"Of course, you can, if you'd like to go sit down, Ill bring it over to you once I've finished it, Is that okay." I watch her walk off and make her cappuccino ,my hands are shaking again. These damn shakes need to stop. I locate her table and slowly make my way over trying not to spill it everywhere.
"You're a little shaky there Darling." Of course, someone would notice. I place the mug on the table in front of her "I'm just a little cold is all." I plaster on a smile and lets her know if she needs anything else all she must do is ask.
I make my way back to Jamie and Ross and try to tune into there conversation "I'm sorry guys I swear I'm not trying to be moody with you guys, I'm just tired and its so noisy in here, everything is buzzy." It's not that loud but the noises of all the machine and the few conversations everything is buzzing and it's a lot. "Mate its alright we get it."
There isn't all the much to do on my shift it's not that busy, so I spend a lot of it cleaning up and just talking to Jamie and Ross having them around is helping. Were just talking about the next football game that's on the television in a few days, then about the demo were setting up for Mr Hardy. The shift goes a lot quicker than I thought it would.
Once I've finished another round of nausea flies through me but I really try to ignore it but by the time I make it outside with the guys a few strides in front of me the chill in the air makes it too much for me to deal with and I end up throwing up on the pavement next to me. The guys must have heard me retching and came over to me. I feel Ross' hand on my back, and he starts rubbing it "Mate, we really need to get you home ay." I lean into Ross as he starts walking me back. "Jamie, can you take my bike."
"Sure, thing mate." Jamie jumps onto my bike and rides slowly next to us we don't speak much because they know if they ask ill just blow my top. It doesn't feel like it takes to long to get back to my place, I can tell everyone is home now because all the cars are in the driveway, I ask Jamie just to leave my bike leaning against the fence as he leaves Ross and I to it.
Ross helps me inside "Hiya Denise can you come get Matty." Before I have time to protest my mum is at my side while Ross tries to get me to the couch "Matthew are you okay sweetheart" I can see the worry in my mother's face and I don't want her and my dad to have to cancel there plans "Yeh Mum I'm alight I just feel a little off that's all but Ross is here to help me look after Lou so its alright". I can see her about to protest what I've said, "Mum honestly its fine, has Lou eaten, I can just get him straight to bed if he has"?
"Yes, love he has."
"That's alright then you and dad can get to your thing and ill get him to bed."
She looks at me again and looks between Ross and me. I just nod for extra confidence "Please Mum, I'm fine."
"Alright sweetheart" she looks over to Ross properly now who is standing awkwardly at the end of the couch "look after him alright and if he gets any worse, please phone me."
"I will Denise don't worry."
My parents left not long after then Lou came tumbling down the stairs "Maffu, guess what I did at school today". He stopped dead at the door "ROSSEY"
"Hey kiddo , how you been". He goes bounding over to Ross and flings his arms around him and kisses his cheek. "I've been good Rossey are you looking after me too wif Maffu."
"I sure am Kiddo, Matty needs a little bit of help tonight, he's not feeling very well tonight." Louis waves at me sat on the couch. "What's wrong Maffu?." I look up at them both and smile "Just got a poorly tummy Kiddo that's all."
He jumps down from Ross' hold and comes to sit on my lap and plays with my hair "I can make you better Maffu, you just have to have some medicine, Mummy always gives me medicine when I'm sick." I'm smiling at him holding closely. "You know what Kiddo, your absolutely right, Go show Rossey where Mummy keeps it." He jumps back off my lap and takes Ross through to the kitchen. I lay back on the couch pulling my phone out again and I see have a few texts from George just checking in asking if I'm okay, and if I need anything.
I message him back "Sorry for being so distant this afternoon everything got a little bit hectic , I was working and I had a bit of an episode I'm now with my mate looking after my little brother"
He replies back straight away "You don't need to apologise I just wanted to make sure your okay, an episode ?"
"Just a bout of sickness again, Hey I know this is out of the blue but I feel like it might help ,and you can say no but would you like to facetime tonight when my mate goes home "
"You know what if that's what's going to help then I'd sure love too"
"Thank you"
Just then Ross and Louie come back into the room, Ross sitting next to me and Louie sitting right back on my lap where he previously was and continues playing with my hair. Ross hands me the medicine and I place it on the table in front of me.
"Maffu , You got to have it silly." I smile down at him and ruffle his hair "I'll have some when you go to bed because it makes grownups sleepy, and I have to look after you little one". We stick on the tv and put on the kids' channel for him. Horrid Henry and he cuddles up close to me and I hold him tightly as I know hell fall asleep quite fast.
I was right about 5 minutes into the second episode he falls asleep right on my lap, and I whisper over to Ross "Can you take him up for me I have no strength to carry him right now." He takes Louie in his arms and heads to his room "Make sure you take that yeh." he motions to the medicine. I do and I lay back down on the couch waiting for Ross to come back so I can tell him I'm going to get an early night and that I'll see him tomorrow. He comes back five minutes later, and I tell him just that and he's fully all right with that he gives me a hug goodbye and hopes I get better.

being high maintenance to be low maintenance - a guide
you might have heard this saying circulating the internet recently, and rightfully so! its a super smart concept. being high maintenance to be low maintenance is as simple as it sounds, put the effort in now, so things will be simple and easy in the future. heres a guide i wrote so you have implement these things in your daily life! keep in mind this is just a guide and is purely my interpretation of this saying!
in health -
this is so important! having a healthy lifestyle and putting in the effort to make yourself healthy now could literally save your life in the future. for example putting on sunscreen now, could prevent you from getting skin cancer in the future. heres some healthy things to do now, which will take effort but will prevent you from having to spend thousands on medical bills in the future;
eating healthy! sounds simple but life can definitely get in the way of this and make it feel a lot more complicated then it really is. you don’t ever have to be restrictive or diet, but simply making better choices with food and how it affects the body can be a huge help. do things like try and get in all the food groups, cook at home, research new healthy recipes, limit junk and fast food, try and buy organic etc..
as listen in the example, wear sunscreen and do your skincare. this will make you age like fine wine and also prevent illnesses such as skin cancer which can be deadly. it only takes 1 minute to apply in the morning and throughout the day, but will save your face and body in the future.
getting enough sleep. this one is has more immediate effects. not getting enough sleep can cause stress, anxiety, brain fog and immune system weakness. getting at least 7 hours a night is going to be best for you and trust me you’ll feel so energetic and happier when you get your full zzz’s.
in school -
doing homework and turning your work in on time. this is so important and easy but can be easily clouded by procrastination. just think next time you go to put off that practise essay that this could cause you a lot of stress in the future, lower the standard of your work and even effect your grades when it could of been done well and out of the way the day you got it.
use nice stationary and focus on the presentation of your work. this doesn't mean spending lots of money on fancy pens and sticky notes, but taking pride in your work and using your nicest pens etc... will help a lot with organisation and motivate you to want to work. having your work be neat and legible will save your life when it comes to reading your notes back in the future when studying for exams.
socially -
its very easy to get wrapped up in toxic friendships and relationships just because those people give you attention or seem cool but focusing on the type of people you put effort into will improve your confidence and happiness in the future. its not easy to let toxic friendships sometimes but think of yourself in the future, she will be so much happier not worrying about your every move around your friends and worrying about drama or insecurity. if you try and surround yourself with people who love you for you and make you actually happy to be around you’re going to have so much more fun hanging out with people. same goes to relationships. you don’t have to be super crazy picky, but set standards you care about and never settle for less.
hope this helped, i can cover more of this is the future maybe too. again this is just my interpretation of the quote!

how i (personally) pirate things. this is by no means a great extensive perfect guide, ill just give you the process of how i go about it. and if you’re in a country where they monitor your internet usage, consider getting a good vpn! always helps. also if anyone wants to add their personal resources, PLEASE DO!!! you’re encouraged to do so!!!
not much to do with the pirating itself, but i download most of the stuff i watch/read/listen. sometimes websites get deleted and links go bad, but files are forever! consider getting a usb/external disk for your stuff. it was one of my first investments as an adult. got a 1 TB disk 5 years ago and im not even halfway through filling it. so most of the sites listed here are for downloads. sorry if you prefer streaming stuff.
in the same subject, get VLC media player. it’s a great media player that works with a bunch of file formats AND you can add subtitle/cc files for the stuff you watch. more on that later.
and for the love of fucking god GET MOZILLA. i swear to God, if you only use chrome it will change your browsing experience. it's just a better experience, no tracking, uses less space, has a bunch of useful add ons to help with browsing security. for a search engine i use startpage. it's just Google without blocking pages and tracking. life-changing
to the actual pirating. first step if you want to WATCH stuff:
AND also, keep in mind that if you can’t find something here, i suggest you go to a non-google browser, and simply type out what you want + “watch/download free”. of course you should get an ad block (i recommend ublock) and learn how to recognized fake links, but that’s just practise. most of the time you’ll find a random website that has what you’re looking for.
torrent:
- for movies, i usually turn to yts/yify movies. this is the latinamerican site but im sure it’s available almost everywhere. quite good catalogue, not that complete, but yknow. its good. any time you download a torrent file, make sure the file is .torrent, and that the thing you’re downloading is in the right format (mp4, mp3, mkv, etc. don’t open.exe files from places that aren’t trustworthy lol)
- torrent is IN MY OPINION one of the best ways to download media in general. i use it mostly for movies, tv shows and games. my go to torrent client is deluge because it doesn’t use much space and it’s fairly easy to use. here’s a tutorial, for you to learn how to use it. not difficult at all
- for subtitles /ccs, i go to yts-subs. bunch of subtitles in all languages. or simply check out opensubtitles, my oldest friend
- for tv shows it gets tricky, because i had a website i used before but its gone now :( so i turned to limetorrents. you can find it if you search for it. has a bunch of other stuff but i only use it when i have nowhere to turn to lmao. but upadates quite quickly, so. just make sure the uploader seems constant and trustworthy, which you can check in their profile.
non torrent stuff:
- for pc games: igggames hasn’t failed me yet. they update their links quite often
- for books: z-library (latine link, but just look it up! should show up). and my recent ally, vk. you should all love vk. vk is my fucking best friend. just look up [book name] + vk and it should show up.
- for audiobooks: vk! my good friend. i’d suggest you make an account and then check out this profile. or simply google [book] +  audiobook + vk. something will pop up. audio files can only be streamed on the website, but fear not, there is also mobilism, which also has some other content, though i use it mostly for audiobooks. you’ll have to make an account but thats fine. you can download the files in there.
- for anime: i don’t watch a lot of anime tbh, but you can find subtitled anime here
- for premium apps: here’s my trusty spotify premium link. but mobilism has links for android and ios  apps as well! i have a friend who uses it and says the links check out, so!
- for music: how old are you? just download stuff from youtube with a youtube to mp3 converted. jeez.
im surely missing a website, so maybe i’ll add something later, but this is pretty much it! thanks for watching.
