Good Omens S2 Episode 6 confession scene speculation:

Aziraphale didn't respond to the love confession from Crowley because he didn't realise it was one until Crowley mentioned the Nightingale and kissed him.

Allow me to explain.

Aziraphale interrupted Crowley to give him the news from Metatron, so when Crowley starts his spiel:

"We've been together a long time, I could always rely on you...we're a group....we've spent our existence pretending we aren't...if Gabriel and Beelzebub can go off together then we can...we don't need heaven/hell they're toxic...you and me whatya say?"

Aziraphale interprets everything Crowley is saying as his rebuttal to the 'good news', not a separate declaration of his feelings.

What Aziraphale just told him shaped Crowley's confession, instead of finally telling Aziraphale how he feels about him, he's now backed into a corner and trying to change Aziraphales mind. Offering to run off with him as the alternative to the Metatron's offer.

The repetition of the phrase: "go off together" from the bandstand fight in season one feels very intentional here. It would be easy for Aziraphale to think 'this is just Crowley's response when the divine plan interferes, he always wants to run away'.

Aziraphale believes that he just needs to make Crowley understand the situation and opportunity that this is and everything will be alright:

"Come with me! To heaven, I can run it, you can be my second in command. We can make a difference!"

Crowley is looking defeated already, in his mind he's bared his soul and Aziraphale is a brick wall. So if he can't tempt the angel into staying with the love he has for him (which Crowley thinks he's declared but he really hasn't), he'll get him to change his mind by evoking something else he loves:

"You can't leave this bookshop."

Aziraphale scoffs fondly. 'Silly demon, you were just suggesting we run off together and abandon it only a moment ago!' He thinks Crowley is trying to 'work' him here and the old serpent might even be selflessly trying to spare the angel the loss of his beloved bookshop in order to restore Crowley and help the world, which would be just like him to be so covertly protective. So Aziraphale reassures him, a bookshop doesn't matter to him as much as Crowley and the world. It's just a collection of objects really. Humanity is more important. Crowley is far more important.

"Oh Crowley, nothing lasts forever."

Crowley is crushed. Nothing lasts forever. Not even the two of them. So he covers his sadness with his glasses, walls back up, and he tries to leave.

Aziraphale is baffled. He just reassured Crowley that he was alright with change if it means things could be better. Why is Crowley leaving? Is he worried that they won't spend time together anymore? That he won't have time for his friend as a supreme archangel?

"Crowley come back!....we can be together, angels!...I need you!"

Crowley can't even look at him in that moment. Why would Aziraphale say that? The two of them together only if he accepts heaven again? Conditional love? That's not fair. It hurts.

Aziraphale meanwhile is hurt by Crowley's turning away, his silence and a bit incensed at what he perceives as ingratitude. Aziraphale didn't really want to go back to heaven, but he'd do it if it meant Crowley could be happy and safe and Crowley doesn't seem to appreciate that:

"I don't think you understand what I'm offering you."

Crowley went through the fall. He asked the questions. Did his best to protect humanity and it has brought him nothing but suffering. He's well aware what's on offer. He's seen heavens cruelty and capriciousness firsthand and been burned by it repeatedly. How can Aziraphale choose them over him and still think everything will work out?

"I understand. I think I understand a whole lot better than you do."

Crowley loves Aziraphale's big foolish optimism and kind heart and he thinks it's the very thing taking the angel away from him. This isn't how it was supposed to go. It's all slipping away from him.

"Listen. You hear that?"

Aziraphale can't even keep up at this point.

This is what comes of thousands of years of 'not talking about it' and living under threat of holy retribution if they are discovered. They're talking past each other, having two different conversations. Obfuscation and code has become their communication medium by necessity and it's failing them.

It's frustrating Aziraphale that he can't get a grip on this conversation:

"I don't hear anything!"

And Crowley drops the bomb.

"That's the point. No Nightingale's."

Oh. Suddenly we're on the same page. You can see from Aziraphale's face that he understands to what Crowley's referring. The Nightingale in Berkely square. Angels dining at the Ritz...

"You idiot! We could have been... us."

Crowley's talking about the big unspoken thing between them. Their relationship, thousands of years of dancing around each other like binary stars gravitationally and inexorably drawn together over and over. The thing Aziraphale was beginning to be bold about, (dancing notwithstanding) before Metatron came along and distracted him.

And it seems to Aziraphale that gut-wrenchingly, Crowley is finally acknowledging their mutual love only to point out that it's gone. Lost. They could have finally been together, an us, but Aziraphale ruined it because he's an 'idiot'.

After being quietly in love with Crowley for years, for Aziraphale to have his offer to return to heaven together and his unspoken love rejected in one fell swoop is devastating.

Overcome, he begins to cry and turns away, not wanting Crowley to see how hurt he is.

Crowley for his part is desperate. He has to do something. Maybe Aziraphale doesn't understand what Crowley is offering him! One fabulous kiss and va-voom right?

In a final desperate act, he kisses Aziraphale. Tries for passionate. Tries to show him that he loves him and show him what they could be because his words clearly aren't working.

Aziraphale is shocked and angry. He wants to kiss Crowley of course. But not like this. Not as a taunt. Crowley just told him their chance is over so what else could this be but a final insult. A kiss to punish the angel. It's a cruelty he didn't believe Crowley capable of.

And despite how mean it is. It's also what Aziraphale has wanted for so long he can't help but melt into it for a brief moment. Allow himself to feel what it would have been like to be that close before losing it forever.

Then Crowley lets go and Aziraphale breaks away on a sob, feeling wounded. Hurt beyond words that Crowley would use his feelings against him like this, gutted to be losing the man he loves and not understanding why.

The worst part is that Aziraphale doesn't have it in him to hate Crowley, even if he thinks the kiss was a cruel gesture. He still loves him. So he gathers himself and does what Aziraphale does when someone hurts him.

He forgives.

"I forgive you."

I forgive you for rejecting my attempt to restore you and make you happy, I forgive you for rejecting God and heaven yet again, I forgive you for acknowledging our love and then rejecting it. I forgive you for kissing me, giving me a fleeting glimpse of what we could have been to each other. I love you and I forgive you all that.

Crowley is done. Breath knocked out of him on a last sigh. He tried. And the Angel forgave him yet again for something he never asked or wanted forgiveness for. He doesn't want to be penitent for loving Aziraphale. Shouldn't have to apologise or regret wanting them to be together.

"Don't bother."

Aziraphale looks surprised Crowley is leaving because he genuinely is. He can't understand how it's all gone so horribly wrong. He gasps, shocked and can't even call out to him to stop, come back.

He cries, touches his lips where Crowley had kissed him. Tries to gather himself and barely has 10 seconds before Metatron is back.

At the end of that scene:

Crowley thinks he confessed his love and Aziraphale chose heaven over him because he didn't want to stop being a demon.

Aziraphale thinks Crowley rejected heaven, then rejected Aziraphale and threw their love back in his face as a final unkindness.

Aziraphale leaves and goes to heaven anyway because in his mind he's already lost Crowley and there is nothing left to stay for. If he doesn't have Crowley he needs a new purpose and it's going to be saving the world. He'll convince himself of it. And he'll push that broken heart down and the pain will fade if he just smiles through it. It will be enough, to make heaven better. It has to be. Maybe if he proves that he can make a difference Crowley might see the error of his ways and speak to him again? Surely. Hopefully.

OKAY SO what with the TWO new Hermits implied by the updated banner I will say that, though the Skizz truthers have me convinced, I now have room to do my own crazy red string monologue and throw my hat in for my choice

1) Mythical J. Sausage (the J is silent) is a multitalented S-tier builder that absolutely deserves to be shoulder to shoulder with the Hermits. The man does buildings, interiors, terraforming, custom trees, and he does them SO WELL.

2) The production values!!! Beautiful replay mod sequences with shifting camera perspectives, shaders, music that sets the tone for each segment that's different from series to series. He already has more than a million followers on YouTube and for good reason!!

3) He has been SO consistent lately. He started a hardcore world about three months ago (about the time you might expect the Hermits to finalize their s10 choices maybe...???) and already has 15 episodes and hasn't gotten involved in any other big content. (He did just start playing a little of the BCG server but from what I understand that's super casual /copium copium copium).

4) That hardcore world is conveniently about to reach a good "pause" point. He started his world on a cherry blossom biome island that he's filled with a medieval village and starter farms, he's said it's almost full and what's left is the castle. I'm guessing the new season will start the first week of February, so if Sausage puts out a video this week building out that Castle and finishing that island it will be MIGHTY CONVENIENT TIMING.

5) This man can GRIND. His Hardcore world hasn't even been going half a year and he's built... So much??? Magnificent! And when he was on the Hermitcraft server he did the Razorcrest for scar AND the player head baby yoda/stormtrooper merch AND the noteblock themesong AND still built in the xmas village and other "diamond of peace" and so many other shenanigans. Did the man even sleep? He can grind with the best of them.

6) He can do redstone, too! Maybe not unique designs, I honestly don't know, but he builds farms for build materials no problem.

7) The DRAMA this man loves his improv and his backstory and trauma lore! For every series he does! Can you imagine if he gets to interact with Ren for an extended period of time, what that would do to them, to us?? Give Martyn a run for his money!!

8) Which brings me to my next point, which is that Sausage is already One of The Gang, because he's been in series with so many of the Hermits already! Empires and the crossover, obviously, but also Pirates with Cleo and Origins with Scar, and he's even done MCC! Joel is the only other player with the same depth of different series but there are other people truthing him already.

9) The EPIC BROMANCE with Pearl. My god the devotion of this man to his sunflower goddess bestie. I would try to do ot justice but y'all have seen floweroflaurelins work, you already know.

10) He's already a PG streamer but with HILARIOUSLY PG-13 tendencies. Imagine him and Cleo cracking each other up at an HHH stream, *grips your shoulders* IMAGINE IT.

11) Sausage comes with his own mascot in the form of interdimensional dog extraordinaire Bubbles, but he's also just an animal lover on general. Mans drinks his "I love Jellie" juice and had her in his world even before the sad news of her loss.

12) Diversity win! No one should be hired just for their gender, race, sexuality etc etc unless it's truly necessary to the job, but we were all happy when more women got added to the server in s8 and I know a lot of people would be happy to see some ethnic diversity added, too.

... That bulletin board had a lot more pins in it than I thought it did but anyway MYTHICALSAUSAGE TRUTHERS/ALL OTHER TRUTHERS RISE UP SPEAK YOUR TRUTH! we'll only get to wildly speculate for a few weeks so we might as well make it everyone else's problem ENJOY IT TO THE FULLEST!!

I've been thinking about the pacing this season, and I think a lot of the issues with telling instead of showing we've been noticing come down to two big factors.

ALL the episodes this season are sticking very strictly to 30 minutes or less. Most of s1 did that, too, to be fair, but some of the most important episodes - 4, 8, and 10 - are all closer to 35 minutes. It doesn't sound like a lot but that's extra breathing room that we're not getting now, it means some things that were almost important enough to make the cut had to get chopped. We're probably missing a lot of little lines that would've rounded things out because the writers had to bank on us getting it from context.

I wouldn't be surprised if the writers went in expecting a 10 episode second season and Max hit them with cutting down to 8 eps, or they had to make the hard choice to save as much money as possible to increse the odds of getting renewed and decided to cut it to 8 themselves. Either way, I definitely think they'd planned on 10 episodes and because of that some things feel rushed; it's really starting to show in ep 7 and I think that's because they just haven't had the space to set things up they thought they'd get.

I really think that we're missing an episode here, and I'm pretty sure it would've gone between 5 and 6. That would've been the logical place to let Ed and Stede's relationship breathe a bit between their second kiss and having sex in 6, and it would've been the right spot to wrap up some lose plotlines (when did Ed get off probation? How does he feel about it? The crew seem so much more comfortable with him in 6, does that make him feel safer and more loved?) and forshadow what's coming up (literally just one line with Olu feeling bad about what happened with Zheng Yi Sao would've made that so much less jarring).

On the whole, I genuinely think the writing this season has been smart and efficient, but not to the same standard as season 1 (which, to be fair, was a very high standard, but still). And I really think the things that matter (Ed and Stede's arcs) are largely done very well.

But it has still been so obvious that they tried to make this season as cheap and palatable for Max to produce as possible. I really hope it pays off. I think it will - like I said, I think the writers always managed to keep sight of what matters, and that's Ed and Stede's story. And I'm grateful that, despite trying to make this show an easy one for Max to make the decision to renew, they didn't compromise on the queerness.

But it stings. You know any other show that's so successful and has not only such a devoted fanbase but such a deeply invested cast and crew would've been renewed a long damn time ago. I am so, so happy we got s2, and I've loved it, really I have, but I'm still a bit sad thinking about what we could've had.

Love for Love's Sake | Messages you didn't notice #6 | Sunbae Theory

I wanted to add this to my previous post about other messages and their translation and theories (here) but it was becoming too long, so I'm posting it separetely.

Guys, I kept thinking about the fact that we never got to learn more about the meaning of these "random" messages. And then I realized I was overthinking it too much.

ALL THESE MESSAGES WERE ACTUALLY FROM MYUNGHA'S SUNBAE WHO MISSED HIM IN REAL LIFE!!!

In the final episode there's a moment when the last message shows up, and the author is finally written.

"I hope that place sparks your hope. From sunbae."

After we learn Myungha's full backstory, we now know "that place" means "afterlife". And if you look back on all the messages it MAKES SENSE, if you think that these are messages that are still coming on Myungha's phone from a friend – or, if we consider that everything is happening in Myungha's head, these are the thoughts about him by someone else.

Sunbae missed Myungha who was suddenly gone from life.

[In May, there is Children's Day, Parents' Day, there is even Teacher's Day but there is no Day when I can meet you] [I was passing by and saw a bracelet that you used to wear long time ago. It reminded me of you. I wonder if you still wear that bracelet.] [I broke a vase that was a gift from you. Can it be repaired?] [I thought only you dressed like that but others do too. I knew it wasn't you but I still followed. But why would you be dressed like that] (last sent messages) [I miss you. If only I could go there…] [Everything depends on what you'll do. Get yourself together.] [I hope that place sparks your hope. From sunbae.]

Tell me if these messages don't look like they were written by someone mourning the loss of a dear person. Someone who might be still sending messages to the number that will never reply anymore (and Myungha never did!). A chat that has become a diary of memories and longing, filled with a ghost of someone whose specific details you keep noticing in your everyday life. There is no Day when they can meet anymore. If only he could see him again...

I'm not sure about the vase but Myungha wore a bracelet in the beginning of the story (that was the first detail we notice about him tbh when he looks through the novel draft in the very first scene).

Someone else on Tumblr has expressed a theory that sunbae is a friend (or someone who loved Myungha) who decided to commemorate his friend in a written novel because they wanted to give him a happy life instead of a miserable one Myungha lived in real life.

I am so on board with this theory, (even though I like the grim reaper/deity theory or Myungha creating the world for himself), I think sunbae did exist in real life. And he obviously cared about Myungha, whether his love was to teach him a harsh lesson or to commemorate him in a meaningful story. After all, isn't this what all authors do to their characters? They make them go through conflicts and breaking points in order to overcome it all and finally find a happy ending.

Maybe sunbae has regretted that Myungha was never able to accept the love that others wanted to give him so he wrote the story to change that. Maybe sunbae is actually Yeowoon who wanted to put Myungha in his shoes and teach him how to love and be loved – actually, remember young Yeowoon, who lost Myungha due to his decision to erase himself from the game, who cried and picked up a pen to bring him back, starting a mission to make Myungha happy.

Maybe this novel is a desperate attempt to make peace and hope that someone you lost could be still loved at last.

No matter what, Sunbae was surely grieving Myungha.

Fuck-Friday Coda

I have eased back on working NFL Buck because I am absolutely swamped with school. I have started clinic rounds and somehow the classwork has doubled for the next set of courses. Which holy crap. So a lot of my days are for studying, homework, and quizzes. Add on being a mom/house wife and yea, not a ton of time to work on my favorite WIP. But I am making time on Thursday to watch the newest 9-1-1 episodes and write codas, because I started them in the final episodes of season 6 and really enjoyed it! So I made a goal to make a coda for most if not all of season 7 episodes! 2/2! I will try my absolute damnest to get some work into NFL Buck because it is my baby and I know how much it is beloved. 7x02 Coda

“We-I…” Buck tries to find the right words again, but he has no idea what they should be. He doesn’t know if he should be defending himself along with Eddie and Chimney, proclaim that they were just being honest with internal affairs. Or if he should defend Hen and the betrayal she felt when they couldn’t back her up.

Rock and a hard place, with Buck being squeezed tightly in between.

Chimney left the locker-room soon after Hen, with the passing false hope comment, “She’ll come around.” His phone was half-way to his ear before disappearing around the ladder truck, most likely spilling the entire ordeal to Maddie.

Buck slumps back down on the bench and leans his head against the lockers, closing his eyes with a defeated sigh. Still standing close by, Buck hears Eddie hum in agreement. Yea, tonight was very much a downer.

“We should have had her back.” Buck finally says.

He feels additional weight added to bench and pressing warmth along his arm and thigh when Eddie sits beside him. “We did. We just all put our foots in our mouths trying to show her.” He assured. He gives Buck knee a gentle squeeze, “You more than me with that whole ‘right call’ comment and wanting to give Captain Collier’s a hard time.”

Buck groans in embarrassment, “I was trying and horribly failing to lighten the mood.”

“The mood was dead on arrival; you had no chance.” Eddie chuckles.

They both go silent, stewing in the hurt emotions left behind by Hen and Chimney, mixing with their own anxiety and worry. It kind of reminds Buck of the last time Hen was captain and that man died at the happiness convention. God that felt like so long ago, when really is less than a year. Yet here they all are, questioning themselves on the job after losing a patient and without Bobby’s steady leadership to help guide them through it.

Buck could only hope this didn’t send him or anyone else on the team into a spiral of questioning their purpose in life. And he really hoped it didn’t lead to another brush with death, for anyone of them.

The hand on Buck’s knee never left and gave another squeeze, pulling him from his past wallows and has his eyes fluttering open. He looks over at Eddie and sees an understanding smile gracing his lips. “That man’s death isn’t on us. We we’re working on the worst of the crash, and we saved that girl and her mother. Hen made the right call, the same one Bobby would have made and when those lab results concur with her story, she’ll be back, and we’ll find a way to make it up to her.”

Buck takes a moment to let Eddie’s words sink it and pull him from the beginnings of a self-deprecating spiral. He did his job, he gave his facts of the event truthfully, and Hen would come around. In all regards, Buck just needed to learn how not to put his foot in his mouth, because at the moment it really was a nasty taste.

Slowly most of the tension that had built up during Hen’s confrontation eases away and Eddie felt it through the press of his shoulder into Buck’s, “That has to be a record.” He comments before getting to his feet and reaching a hand out.

Buck doesn’t even hesitate and tries his damnest not to flush too red as Eddie hauls him to his feet with little to no effort. The man has a girlfriend and Buck was done chasing. “Uh yea. Turns out when you stop trying to search for the life’s great moments and instead live in them, internal spiraling is easier to pull out of.” He explains. Eddie also is a big contributor, but Buck isn’t going to admit that to said man.

“Well… At least those self-help books will make good kindling for the next campfire.” Eddie cackles and Buck swats at his shoulder which only makes him laugh harder.

Eventually Buck joins in and the pit of dread dwindles further. He embraces this moment and knows eventually everything is going to be okay.

“What do they say?” You question, accepting defeat, and allowing her to manhandle you.

“Happy wife, happy life.” In one quick motion, she’s tugged your pyjama shorts, along with your underwear off.

“What if you fall asleep mid eating pussy and I crush you to death?”

Alone (Harwin Strong imagine)

Pairing: Harwin Strong x female Targaryen!reader

Requested: Yes and I also saw this post by @glodessa and got inspired to give it more angst

Warnings: basically spoilers for episode 6, alicent minding EVERYTHING but her business, angst, labor and delivery are obviously skipped cause i dont know anything about that

The groans of pain could be heard around the Red Keep. Princess Y/N was finishing her labors.

It had gone on for hours, it was currently midday and she had started right before dawn. The pain was excruciating, even worse than the first time. The midwives did the best they could to help the princess during this time.

Y/N had been alone for three days. Her husband, Harwin Strong, was sent to meet Lord Rosby, and he had to take their son Aenys with him. They had protested this order but there was nothing they could do, the order came from the Queen. Viserys tried to make her change her mind but to no avail.

“A healthy boy, Princess.” Y/N held him with tears in her eyes.

The door opened, revealing one of the maids. “Princess... the Queen has requested that the child be brought to her... immediately.” Y/N’s felt her happy world crumbling in seconds. Why would she want to see him? Why now? Against the midwives' protests, Y/N got dressed. If the Queen wanted to see her son, she would take him there herself.

She held back tears of pain as she walked through the castle. Her body felt like it was on fire, the ache was too much to bear. Y/N clutched her son closer as she distantly heard people congratulating her.

Ser Criston Cole locked eyes with her at the end of the corridor. Since he became the Queen's protector, their friendship ceased to exist. Y/N also gave him a favor all those years ago during the Heir’s Tournament and they became close, as friends. But after he swore allegiance to Alicent, Y/N could not stand being in the same room as him.

“Princess,” he greeted her. Quickly glancing at her son before opening the door.

“Y/N! You should be resting after your labors,” Alicent exclaimed as soon as she saw her.

“I have no doubt you would prefer that, Your Grace,” Y/N replied sarcastically.

“You must sit. Talya, bring a cushion for the Princess.”

“There is no need.” Y/N did not want to sit, all she wanted was to be in her chambers.

“Nonsense, please sit.” Alicent stared at Y/N when she did not move from her spot. “Y/N…,” she took a breath, “I command you to sit down.”

Y/N still did not sit down. “You wanted to see my son, here he is.”

Alicent moved forward, moving the blanket only a little to see the boy. She did not say a word but Y/N knew what she wanted to say. The boy did not have silver hair, therefore he is illegitimate, a bastard. “You may go.”

During those agonizing minutes, Y/N felt blood rushing down her legs yet did not bother to check. She left a trail from the Queen’s chambers to hers, as revenge for this bothersome situation. Criston stood there motionless, staring at the ground after she left.

Y/N and the baby slept for the rest of the day. The midwives came in from time to time to check on them both and to help Y/N with feedings. Her sister, Rhaenyra, stopped by to visit and only saw them from afar before stating she would return later, wanting to give Y/N time to rest.

The following morning, she jolted awake as she heard the door being roughly pushed open. Harwin almost ran to the bed, kissing her and gently embracing her. Y/N held back tears as she clung to him. “I am so sorry I was not here, my love.”

“It is alright,” she lied but he saw right through it. It was not alright.

“You were alone, I knew I should have stayed here,” Harwin started to sob. “Leaving and taking Aenys with me felt wrong.”

“It was more painful this time but there were no complications,” Y/N told him but that made Harwin sob more. “Sweetheart, we are both alright.”

“That makes it even worse. What if there were any complications? The maester would have done whatever he pleased without informing you.”

Y/N understood what he meant, he was referring to her mother. Her heart ached for him. They held each other until a soft whine was heard. Both of them looked at the babe's cradle that was next to the bed, and Harwin gasped.

He got up and slowly picked up his newborn son, rocking him carefully in his arms. Y/N was gazing lovingly at him. She has been in love with him since he arrived at King’s Landing all those years ago. “Have you named him?”

“No,” she admitted. “I was waiting for you to return.”

Harwin smiled, sitting down next to her. “We could give him a Targaryen name,” he suggested.

“You can name him,” she told him, “I got to name Aenys.”

He pondered for a moment, his brain going through a list of Targaryen names he had thought of for months but he did not like them at all for their son. “How about Lyonel?”

Y/N smiled, “I love it. Your father is most definitely going to cry.”

Harwin and Y/N sat together for the rest of the morning, cuddling their newborn son. He was still feeling guilty and sad about missing his birth but decided not to push the matter forward. He knew Y/N was still in pain and would be for days. Harwin just wanted to make things easier for her.

That afternoon, Harwin made his way towards Aenys’ chambers. The six-year-old was too tired from traveling and Harwin decided to let him rest before taking him to meet his brother.

“Did you hear what happened to Princess Y/N yesterday?” Elena told Annira in a hushed tone. Harwin stopped in his tracks and stood behind a pillar to listen to the maids. They had not noticed his presence at all.

“No, I was busy all day in the kitchens. What happened?”

“The Queen ordered that the babe be brought to her immediately,” Elena looked around to make sure nobody was close. “The Princess herself went to see her.”

Annira gasped, covering her mouth. “Right after her labors? Oh, gods.”

“The floors were stained with blood. Talya told me there was a puddle in the Queen’s chambers and everything,” she told her.

“Why did no one else take the babe?” Annira asked, clearly still shocked.

“The Princess was alone during the labors, Ser Harwin was not in the Keep.”

The maids continued their gossip. Harwin was seething with anger as he made his way back to his wife to ask her about what happened.

He walked into the chambers to see Y/N nursing Lyonel. “Oh, darling, where is Aenys?” She asked with confusion. She expected to see the oldest son running towards her.

“What happened yesterday?” Harwin asked her in return, making her look down and away from him. “The maids were gossiping and I need you to tell me the truth.”

Y/N hesitated before confessing. “Alicent wanted to see him immediately… and I did not trust anyone to take him. I took him there myself.”

“Alone?” Harwin's hands were clenched, his patience hanging on by a thread. When he heard no answer, he stared at his wife, who sat there nervously. “Alone?” He repeated.

“Yes,” she whispered.

In a spur of a moment, he left, slamming the door. Y/N flinched at his outburst. She wanted to go after him to stop any sort of confrontation but the ache in her body stopped her from doing so. She gently set Lyonel in his cradle after he fell asleep.

Probably an hour later, Harwin and Aenys walked in. The kid was beaming at his mother, quickly making his way to the bed and into her open arms. “Hello, my love,” she greeted him, kissing his head.

“I missed you,” he told Y/N, settling better to sit down on her lap.

“I missed you more,” she replied. “There’s someone you should meet.”

Aenys turned his attention to the cradle, wearing a happy smile on his face. He peered over the edge to see, careful to not make any noise. “Baby brother?”

“Yes, that is your baby brother Lyonel,” Harwin told him.

“Can I please hold him?”

Y/N moved to place Lyonel in his arms, Aenys sat almost in the middle of the bed just in case. “You have to be gentle,” she reminded him. The boy gazed at his brother in amazement, softly touching his face.

“When can we choose an egg for him?” He wondered.

“We can go later,” Y/N promised.

Harwin was anxious. Y/N knew he wanted to say something but could not say it in front of Aenys. She grabbed his hand and walked to a secluded part of the chamber, somewhere they could still see the boys perfectly. Y/N looked at him expectantly. “We are leaving.”

“What?” She asked with confusion. “Why?”

“We are going back to Harrenhal,” Harwin declared. “The decision is final.”

“You cannot make these decisions without asking me first,” Y/N criticized.

“I can when the priority is to keep my wife and my sons safe,” he hissed. She stared at him, waiting for him to continue. “I will not allow the Queen to do whatever she pleases with you and our sons. I am sick of her behavior towards us. We are leaving, I already told your father.”

“You did what?” Y/N asked incredulously.

Harwin marched towards the King’s chambers like a mad bull. Everyone that was in his path moved immediately. They knew his nickname and certainly did not want to find out exactly why he got it. He stopped in front of the doors, looking at the Kingsguards. “I need to speak with the King, now.”

The two knights glanced at each other before one of them entered the chambers. He later motioned Harwin to walk in. Viserys was sitting down, and Lyonel was next to him. “I heard the wonderful news,” he told him with glee. “We will go visit our grandson later today.”

“Your Grace,” Harwin began speaking, praying to the gods that he did not get mad. “I am returning to Harrenhal with Y/N and my sons.”

“What?” Viserys questioned, Lyonel's eyes widened at this. “Why? Speak it, plainly,” he ordered.

Lyonel shook his head at his son, silently begging him to not say anything. “I am tired of the mistreatment my family receives from the Queen.”

Viserys got up from his seat. “What are you talking about?”

“Your Grace-” Lyonel tried to interrupt but the King raised his hand to make him stop talking.

“You know what the Queen thinks about my sons,” Harwin reminded him. “Did you know she demanded to see him yesterday, minutes after he was born? She sent me to Rosby and kept me away from my wife, knowing she was due any day. Y/N went to introduce our son by herself, so the Queen would not get mad. She is so adamant that both of my sons are bastards and that Y/N has been unfaithful when she has not been. I am tired of it.” Harwin felt like a weight was lifted off his shoulders. He could tell Lyonel was furious as well but he knew to not say anything. “If you want to kill me for speaking about her this way, then do so, but my family is leaving King’s Landing.”

Viserys sighed. He knew what Alicent thought about his grandsons. After Aenys was born, she brought up the subject to him, only to be told to forget about it, since she was wrong. Viserys knew the boy was a Targaryen, regardless of the color of his hair. “If this is what you wish, then so be it.”

“Thank you, Your Grace.”

Y/N was astonished at what he did. “My love, you could have spoken to me first.”

“You were going to say that it was alright and that I worry too much,” Harwin pointed out.

“Harwin, what the Queen says does not bother me, you know that.”

“But it bothers me!” He suddenly exclaimed, making Aenys flinch. “I hate that you were alone yesterday. I hate that you had to go to her by yourself. I hate that you were in so much pain and bleeding,” his eyes flooded with tears. “I hate the way she treats you.”

Y/N hugged him as he silently wept. “We are alright now. I do not care what she thinks because all that matters is that you and I know the truth. I will choose you over and over again. I love you.”

“I love you too,” he replied, his head buried between her neck and her shoulder.

A week and a half later, they were in Harrenhal, their new home.

Harwin and Aenys went to the dragonpit together to get an egg for Lyonel before the move, choosing a beautiful one with light blue scales. Their new home did not have a place for dragons but Harwin was going to make sure one was built. He did not tell them but he was a bit hesitant to have dragons near the castle, because of what happened during the conquest but seeing his son’s happy expression made him forget about that. Harwin knew he made the best decision for his family. Here, they could be free and live without worries. Y/N have him two beautiful sons and the love he felt for her grew more each day.

Buck & Eddie: Buck died for three minutes and seventeen seconds!

In 6x12, Eddie told Buck, “You died, Buck!” but Maddie told him, “Buck, you died” and Bobby said the same thing in 6x15 during Buck’s performance review (related post linked here).

Was Buck dying a huge deal? YES! And apparently, it affected everyone but Buck. Eddie cried in Buck’s hospital room, Chris asked him to come back, Maddie cried, Bobby kept vigil by Buck’s bedside with his rosary beads, Athena knew the effect his death would have on her husband because he sees Buck as a son and she told him to “Wake up damn it”. Chimney cried, Hen did too and May was worried about the effect Buck’s death would have on Bobby just like Athena was worried. Chimney told Albert they had to take Margaret out because she was hysterical but the audience didn’t see her cry like we did everyone in Buck’s found family and I believe that was on purpose (post linked here).

Now, onto 7x1 where Buck told Eddie that he broke up with Natalia because all she talked about was death and he’s not sure why he thought dating her was a good idea (neither did the audience but ok, that was the decision that was made so there’s nothing that can be done about it). TM (showrunner) said in a recent interview, Buck was tired of talking about his "death" and he’s ready to find happiness. If that’s true, then great but if he’s really moved on from it, why didn’t anyone including Eddie, who knows Buck to his core (RG's words) see the growth? Reminder, Eddie's response to Buck's breakup was, "Welcome back to the land of the living, Buck. You were truly missed."

The timeline for last night’s episode was so messed up that it was hard to make heads or tails of anything. Bobby initially bought their cruise tickets in 5x18 but their trip got postponed at the end of 6x1 since Athena's father had a stroke. It begs the question did those tickets get refunded and he purchased new ones because Athena told Frank, two months before they left on their cruise, which happened a year after the bridge collapse 🤷🏽‍♀️that Bobby bought the tickets a week ago, so who knows what time period it is in this realm or wherever they’re in right now. The way things played out, dare I say it but it kind of seems like they’re all still living in Buck’s coma dream but hey, maybe it’s being done on purpose.

Back to the regularly scheduled program…

Reminder, Buck died! And according to Eddie, he was dead for three minutes and seventeen seconds. He was literally dead and even though Chimney worked on Buck for three minutes, he couldn’t restart Buck’s heart, only Eddie could and the last seventeen seconds was all him!

These things happened and they’re important but for some reason, Buck’s death along with everything else that happened to him in season 6 are being treated like they didn’t happen or as if they were of no consequence. In 6x12, Dr. Salazar told Buck that people who have near death experiences either go back to their lives like nothing’s changed or they make a drastic change and quit their jobs, divorce their spouses or they go to Italy.

Well… Buck’s done NEITHER of those things since he’s still doing the same job and he didn’t do anything drastic like move out of the loft or something, just anything other than saying and proclaiming he's happy now all of a sudden. Him breaking up with Natalia wasn’t drastic since he broke up with Taylor in season 5. It would have been different if it had been his first time choosing something for himself but it wasn't.

IMO, the way his death is being glossed over makes it seem like there’s something else that could happen with Buck after 7x6 airs. Reminder, there will be a mini hiatus just like there was between 6x12 and 6x13 and everyone should remember the drastic change that took place then. Buddie and the Buckley-Diaz family were prominent more than any other ship in that episode. Now, be clear, I’m not saying Buck will have a breakdown (even though he's overdue to have one and him crying over Eddie being shot is not the same thing) but I will say he’s headed for a storm. Also, his life is paralleling Eddie’s after the shooting and to me it seems off because Buck’s happy but no one knows why or how he got there. It appears he’s hiding how he truly feels the same way Eddie did before he started panicking followed by his breakdown. Additionally, it appears Buck’s continuing to parallel Athena’s arc for this season too and if he is then, his fear or whatever has him “terrified” will come into play later in the season (post about Bathena and Buddie parallels linked here).

I fully understand the show only has so much “real estate” per episode, as TM described it but in season 6 (which I know should be a distant memory by now for a lot of reasons), the audience only SAW Buck start things but there wasn’t any resolution to any of them. THEY WERE ALL UNFINISHED BY THE END OF 6X18.

In 6x1, he wanted to be interim captain but that storyline fell off a cliff and wasn’t revisited.

In 6x2, he wanted to be happy and apparently, according to OS and TM, this season he’ll be going after the things that make him happy but NO ONE BUT BUCK knows what those things are.

In 6x4, he thought long and hard about being Connor’s sperm donor but there were two things he said that were left unfinished and unresolved.

When he was at Hen’s house, he told her he didn’t want to turn them down but he never said why.

At the end of the episode, he told Connor and Kameron he didn’t know what he wanted (I still think that was a lie but I digress) but he was willing to give them what they wanted.

The audience doesn’t know why Buck didn’t want to turn them down and if he would have said why, there wouldn't be an issue. Also, he never explained what he wants but I suppose the audience is just supposed to forget all about those two important factors and move on the way Buck has. As a viewer, wanting answers to close main characters' storylines is a fair request since we’ve all seen Buck repeat the same mistakes and remain on the hamster wheel (OS’s words) for the last three years with no resolution.

In 6x7, he was adamant about donating even though the universe kept screaming at him not to do it and it went so far as to stop his Jeep on the street but he ran there anyway. Also, only him and Eddie touched the cursed bracelet during that episode but nothing came of that either.

In 6x9, he told the team he was the creator of new life and he had a onesie on the nightstand with an LAFD logo on it but that too went absolutely nowhere (posts linked here and here).

In 6x10, he died! But also, before he did, he talked a lot about family but no one knows if he wants his own family or if he’s happy with his biological or found or both.

In 6x11, he was in a coma for most of the episode where it was all about him (he was making things about himself again like everyone has told him he does) but when he woke up, he told Bobby there was one thing he couldn’t fix while he was in it but since he didn’t say it, NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THAT IS.

In 6x12, when Eddie asked him if could ask him how he was, Buck replied, “Honestly Eddie… I don’t know”; well, since he didn't say it, neither does the audience. Also, he went to Maddie’s and told her about his coma dream but the only part the audience heard was that it was never nighttime and the first thing he does when he wakes up is text Bobby.

In 6x13, he knew how to do math and his life appeared to be going where he wanted it to but then, 6x14 happened and his math powers were gone.

In 6x15, aside from meeting the DeAtH dOuLA and telling her about his dream (which the audience didn’t hear then either), he told Eddie while they were in the cemetery, “The truth is… I am different but I feel like I have to be the same old Buck, mostly for the sake of everyone else”. Is he still being the same old Buck now? Who knows?

From 6x16 through 6x18, Buck was still acting like the same old Buck then he ended the season in another lackluster boring relationship with someone who he believed SAW him but everyone knows she didn’t see $hit.

Now here’s my main issue and please don’t misunderstand me. If Buck’s all great and happy, FINE but it’s hard to correlate his new found happiness with everything he’s been through especially since the audience didn’t get to see his journey. He’s not in therapy and he’s not reading self-help books or whatever anymore so how did he get from point A to point B? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Since the audience remains in the dark, are we supposed to just accept him saying he’s better? I’m not buying that snake oil they’re selling and my reasoning for it is based on two things. First, Buck identifies himself as a firefighter but that wasn’t addressed before season 6 ended because IMO it tied in with everything else he experienced. Also, Buck’s actions in the promos and trailers make it seem like he’s hesitant about something regarding his job. Could the narrative change? ABSOLUTELY but if it doesn’t, no one knows if he is or isn’t still struggling.

Reminder, Buck broke up with Natalia but Eddie didn’t know and why is that? Their lack of communication could be due to the wacky time jumps or the miscalculation of them but in any event, they hadn't discussed it even though they're working together again. In 7x1, they kept showing how close they are but there’s obviously some things they still haven’t discussed including Buck’s death. Please note, Buck is once again paralleling Athena since there’s something she hasn’t told Bobby too. They're both not saying the stuff they should be and if they continue to parallel then all should be revealed soon.

This post is simply to highlight the fact that Buck took another journey but once again, the audience has NO IDEA how he got there just like at the end of season 5 when he finally ended things with Taylor. Sure he broke up with her but he didn’t do it because he was unhappy, he did it because she did something he probably knew she would do anyway especially since she betrayed the 118 and Bobby in 2x6 so what exactly is the audience supposed to believe? He’s changed even though we didn’t see it? I call BS and I think TM is lying just like he did about Eddie’s PTSD. He said Eddie wouldn’t go through it but a few months later he did and it was important to his healing.

Will anything come of all the things Buck experienced in season 6? Who knows but apparently the audience is just supposed to roll with the idea that he’s 100% better even though we didn’t see any of it. Reminder, we saw everyone else’s journey and how they clawed their way back after their breakdowns, i.e., Eddie’s, Maddie’s, Athena’s, Chimney’s and even Bobby’s after he had two, one in 2x16 and one in season 1 after the plane crash but we’re supposed to accept the fact that Evan “Please don’t leave me, I make things about me and I like to fix things” “Buck” Buckley is ok? NOPE! I’m not buying it.

So there is a "leaked" script that claims Eddie asked Marisol to move in, and is it just me, or is that completely out of character for Eddie? He dated Ana for longer, and they weren't living together. we are really supposed to believe that he would ask Marisol to move in after a few months of dating? Unless Eddie is unable to process anything after learning his Buck. Is dating a man that is not him, and instead of breaking up with her like he planned, he pulls a Buck and asks her to move in with him.

Eddie does not deserve to be stuck with someone like Marisol.

According to 7x04, he apparently needs a live-in babysitter so he can go out with his shiny new boyfriend. So… 🤣 And it took a whole relationship and a blackout before Ana was his babysitter! Just from that much I’m still going, yikes. Like, girl, do you not have friends? Do you not have someone who will tell you this relationship is red flags all over the place? Can we not call up your Folger brother and have him talk some sense into you?

You’re very right though. Eddie deserves so much better.

I have heard about the supposed leaked scripts and I’ll talk some about that under a cut below in case anyone wants to read my thoughts on it.

But what I’ll say in general is that in some of the interviews we’ve been seeing recently especially with canon bi!Buck, Mr. Showrunner had scathing things to say about love interests who are just there to be love interests. He didn’t like that they couldn’t interact with any of the other characters and that they weren’t part of the overall story.

Given we’ve had what, two? offhand comments and maybe five whole seconds of screen time this season with her, if they wanted to actually develop that relationship for the audience, they could have done that. And should have done that a long, long time ago. (For example, see Eddie and Tommy’s relationship. In one whole episode they did more to build that up than they have done for Eddie/allegedgirlfriendconfirmedterf in all of season 6 or 7.)

Instead, they showcased the bond between Buck and the Diazes and the trauma that Eddie and Chris still have over Shannon leaving and them losing her. And also Eddie’s new friendship with Tommy that sounded like they were both spending every day, every moment together.

Obviously, she’s in the next episode and they have a pizza date while Eddie has to stare at his bestest friends while they’re on a date. But at this point, if you want the audience to root for the relationship or enjoy it at the very least, it’s a little late in the game for that? We have nothing to go on and it doesn’t make sense if we’re taking it at face value.

All this to say, if he does ask her to move in with him, there is no way for the audience to buy that it’s genuine, reasonable, or a smart move. It reads like Buck asking Taylor to move in with him because he cheated and he’s desperate and clinging. Even if Eddie and the terf show up and are all happy and handsy and lovey, it’s not convincing. There’s been no development. It would come across like Buck and Ali apartment hunting and being touchy and giggly, and then her dumping him at the end of the episode. It sets up a contrast between what we think is happening and what is really happening. Perceived happiness vs the reality of not knowing each other and their relationship crumbling.

I don’t remember who said it or when it was said, maybe it was Kristen? But I know someone talked about how Eddie rushed things with Ana and they were wanting to do the opposite when continuing his story. Dating someone for (how long has it even been? 2-3 months? Idek? Does Eddie even know?) Mere months and asking them to move in reeks of, “something is going wrong and I have to fix it by doing something rash and ill-advised to keep us together.”

Remind me to do a post about Eddie also being someone who clings and stays because it’s convenient and he doesn’t want to be alone.

It would be completely out of character if it is a sincere, legit thing. However, as a panic response? I buy it. But that also doesn’t bode well for their future. Darn. Hold on, I’ll get the champagne. That relationship is just waiting to be bones. And in an episode called, “You Don’t Know Me,” is where they’re putting their relationship under a microscope? Hildy, cue up the ominous music.

I doubt the glorious day we are free of her will be this week. I think they are just starting whatever they have planned. Unfortunately. I would hope they kept her around and brought her back for a reason like what they did with Eddie/Ana. I want there to be something satisfying about the end and the fact that we have to suffer through this. It just needs to happen quickly because I am so over homophobic terfs who know what fucking show they’re on and what the story is and still persist in their assholish bigotry.

Now? My thoughts on the leaks?

IF we are to believe they are legit, and who knows if they are. But if we are saying they are legit, then Buck comes out to Eddie at the very end and Eddie is surprised. So, Eddie likely wouldn’t be jealous or weird about Buck and Tommy dating if he didn’t even know they are dating. Plus, they just had a whole episode dedicated to jealous!Buck and it would be redundant to immediately take that into, now EDDIE is the JEALOUS ONE. I think they’d have to take the story further for Eddie to really consider how he feels about Buck and Tommy dating.

Maybe it will come down to him being displeased by it (for some unknown reason he just can't put his finger on) and grappling with how he genuinely likes Tommy a lot and that’s a new thing for him and one of Buck’s love interests? But it wouldn’t happen this week. In theory, this week is about Buck feeling like he’s hiding because he just realized he’s bi and hasn’t told anyone yet. Hence, more of the “you don’t know me.”

Obviously, I am rooting for Buddie. All the way. All the time. I like Buck/Tommy just fine but they’re not BuckandEddie. But I think it will take a while before we see anything that might really develop the Buck & Eddie storyline. They’re working on Buck’s bisexual awakening and his first time dating a man. WHERE OH WHERE ARE MY EDDIE STORYLINES. I just want them to do some justice for my boy. Give him something interesting! And for the terf to gtf away from him. :D

Thoughts on Short Chapter 90.1 (Long Post)

First of all, what in the world just happened? That short chapter was so unexpected for a short chapter.

Endo is really good at messing all of our brains in just four pages. Upon seeing it as an extra chapter, I thought it’s going to be on a lighter side but I don’t expect it to be dark and centered around Anya!

So here are some of my 6 takeaways. (Long post again sorry!)

1.Anya is probably not the real spelling of her name or not even her real full name

-Anya is pretty sure herself that her name is spelled as Ania, she spelled her name the same way in the Eden Entrance Exam.

-And the expression in her face when Loid corrected her tells a lot. (I’m really amazed how Endo conveyed this without the readers letting know what is going on in Anya’s mind. Meaning that he still doesn’t want to reveal that snippet of her thoughts process since it surely would reveal something about her past) Her expression was so subtle but it tells that for her, she's certain that it was really letter I. Then settling with oh, but not like a happy and excited or enlightened ‘Oh!’ But just a simple, Oh, okay... Like she had no choice but to just agree.

And her lying in her bed thinking about the name, saying it aloud as if familiarizing it.

So here are my thoughts about Ania/Anya’s name:

Ania is part of a longer name

Maybe Ania was a nickname given to her because she has a longer one.

I just told my sister days ago that Anya’s name sounds like Ostania and maybe that is where her name came from. So maybe Ania is just what they named her deriving from Ostania itself.

Ania could also be an acronym for something. Like the A could stand for Apple since the experiment is called Project Apple. The rest of the letters however I have no idea.

Ania could also be an experimental name (Like what I saw on some posts here the AN1A one so they decided to call her Ania but it was not a name but a label for her.

2.Why Loid assumes it was Y and not I

In the documents Franky had given him in the first chapter, her name is spelled Anya with a Y. Meaning, the orphanage thought her name is spelled that way but we can understand for Anya it was always spelled with I not Y. (The document is not readable in the manga but it was clear in the anime)

3.Endo has plans for everything, especially for the three main characters and their back stories

Endo often says that he thought things in a spur of a moment in terms of making this manga (Reference: fanbook Endo interview page 176) like how he decided Anya being a telepath on the last moment and called it luck that it worked out lol. But this was clearly planned and the anime creators, directors and writers are aware and is working closely with Endo. What he pulled in this short chapter isn’t something that can be thought for the last minute. It is planned from the very beginning. Probably some of the little details in the manga might mean more that what meets the eyes. (I saw a video before and in that video they showed Endo's studio and they showed miniature models of the designer chairs on the volume and there are chairs there that were just briefly shown that is yet to appear. I saw the video before the release of Volume 11, the one with Emile and Ewen and I saw their chairs in the line up of the models. So you can't convince me that he hasn't planned anything where he wants to take the plot next.)

4. The Anime on Anya's nameplate change

Anya's name changed in her nameplate, from Ania to Anya at exactly end of Season 1 Part 1 episode 12. Anime have been very persistent in showing that nameplate.

(Episode 3, not in the manga)

Then Episode 11, we saw the change of her name spelling on her test. So the short mission 90.5 took place before she got her first stella.

The Season 1 Part 1 Finale, we see this nameplate and I went to check the short mission of this in the manga and no, the manga didn't show the change of nameplate in that particular chapter.

Now I'm rethinking that it was really a well thought decision of Clover and Wit to make the Aquarium episode and this episode in the finale rather than starting the dog arc crisis and it was smart and sneaky of them.

Anime is doing a lot of work to elaborate the manga and I love them for that!

5.Like Father Like Daughter

It would make sense that in this family Loid and Anya would be the one who bears fake names. Yor being the one whose name being real symbolizes how she doesn’t lie about anything besides being an assassin, and there are times when she isn’t even keeping the fact that she is one. She always does things, mainly, because she genuinely cares for Anya and Loid not for her job at all (as the story progress she thought less about them being just a cover for her). Yet Anya and Loid often does things for their own ulterior motives (Anya for wanting a family for herself and Loid for his mission). They’re the ones who actively kept protecting their secret identities. The ones with the most the secrets. Both have names different from their real ones. Really makes sense don’t you think?

6.We could get an Anya backstory arc, if not by the next chapter, sooner than we expect.

We might have snippets of Anya’s backstory but I believe that Endo would not give out the whole thing. It’s too early to reveal it and what could Anya’s trigger be for her to think about everything that happened in her past?

Loid is triggered when he was rendered unconscious by Anya’s tonitrus

Yor is triggered when she’s thinking about Yuri

How about Anya?

What could trigger her to remember everything she went through?

-Will she perhaps see something or someone that will make her remember her past? (I read a fanfiction about her meeting a man who used to adopt her, it’s from coloredice I think and I can’t help but seeing it happen in canon)

Yet this is a short chapter, maybe Endo will continue this with another short chapter or give us a full chapter in the next two weeks centering around Anya. But it could also be not, since it could also just a way for Endo to add additional details to the narrative. But why bring this up now? for sure, it was a reminder, maybe a preparation on what the future ten chapters to the 100th holds.

Summary: Joel suffers a panic attack in Jackson after catching sight of a woman who looks like Sarah; something that both unsettles and comforts him in equal measure, and forces him to think about his choices. Based off the scene from the TLOU HBO show, episode 6.

Joel knew she wasn’t her. Of course he did. He felt it in his bones, the moment his vision focused as she turned around.

She wasn’t his baby girl, the one he held in the hospital on that blissful summer evening, thirty-four years ago. Seven pounds, eleven ounces. She wasn’t his daughter; soccer-mad and carefree, breeze blowing through her hair as she skipped off the porch, telling Joel she loved him in that teenage way she had.

She wasn’t Sarah, her body limp and still in his arms as he refused to let go, Tommy’s hand on his shoulder, telling him gently she’s gone, Joel. There’s nothin’ we can do.

The wave of panic passed; the clutches of dread around his heart subsiding. Joel was frightened. He couldn’t count how many times he’d lost control like that of late, fear bubbling over like a pot left to boil as he drew his jacket tighter around himself.

He wondered if it was his age; his life so ravaged by Cordyceps he would’ve forgotten his own goddamn birthday, if it hadn’t been so close to the day he lost Sarah, too. Twenty years, baby girl. It’s gone so fast.

Joel barely ever let himself dream, but he did then; Sarah, graduated, a lawyer or something. Big house, still in Austin, he’d hope. Kids of her own, if she wanted. Grandpa Joel. It wounded him so deeply, so viscerally, he was surprised nobody else in Jackson could see his blood dripping on the snow.

He knew she wasn’t her. He’d had one sliver of hope; a delusion, a thread so thin it snapped within seconds. Joel so desperately wanted to believe it was his daughter, to look into her eyes, hear her laughter. His Sarah, alive and standing there before him, singing Christmas songs like she always had done. He forgot sometimes that she’d been long dead; longer than she’d ever been alive.

He wondered if Tommy knew the woman he saw, if he’d ever thought the same, the striking resemblance catching him off guard. Joel chewed over the thought of his younger brother. Tommy, having a kid of his own.

He allowed himself to sink helplessly into self-pity as he walked away from the festive cheer, slush leaking through the holes in his boots.

The universe was laughing at him, surely, with the cruelty of it all. His brother tells him he’s gonna be a father, and Joel is confronted with his jealousy in physical form; the ghost of the girl who gave that role to him first.

Tommy’s words rattled around his head as ice wind whipped through him, footsteps trudging up the street. Just ‘cuz life stopped for you, doesn’t mean it has to stop for me. Joel found himself wanting to weep for the first time in years, the injustice of it all pricking his eyes incessantly.

He saw Sarah everywhere. In the vibrant deep orange of every sunset, in the innocence of the morning dew. Every butterfly that would hang around him on his trips through the forests with Tess, he knew it was her. Keeping him safe, letting him know she was with him, one step behind.

And then.. Ellie. Ellie, so far removed from Sarah but nudging into his heart all the same. Ellie. She’d killed for him, and he’d killed for her. Joel was scared of it; the scars that had taken two decades to try and heal over were bursting open again, emotions he didn’t recognise flowing freely from the wound. He knew in the depths of his heart he had the capacity to love her. But he couldn’t keep her safe; his strength had deserted him.

Joel had been so fucking sure her immunity wasn’t real. It couldn’t be. Ellie was just some kid, riding out her humanity for a little longer than most. That first night, he was so sure she’d twitch, start to convulse. A gunshot and it’d all have been over.

But Tess convinced him, and for Tess he’d stayed. How had that worked out for him? He’d lost his partner; the only person who’d remained constant at his side since the world fell to pieces. Joel had failed Tess, in spectacular style.

Tommy was only alive because he’d had the sense to ditch Joel. He wasn’t as razor sharp, as ruthless as he had been. He’d neglected the pain in his back since he’d hit forty, and the hearing in his right ear was never coming back. He was so fucking slow, his hunting abilities ruined beyond repair.

Ellie was next to die, he knew it. It had to be Tommy; Joel would have to ask him. Take her. The thought made him choke; reprimanding himself for growing so damn attached. It had to be done. No more blood on his hands, small bodies in his embrace.

Joel reached the street they’d be staying on. Untouched since ‘03, his brother said. He thought about who had lived here, how they’d died. He wondered if whatever ran through Ellie’s veins could be the solution, and how he couldn’t be the one to take her there. Her purpose was far more greater than his; this is where they parted ways.

Joel’s mind strayed to Sarah again, what she’d think of him, of Ellie, of the journey they’d gone on together. In his mind’s eye he could see them together, Sarah forever fourteen to him. Ellie would make her laugh, of course she would.

He cast his eyes skyward, dusk stretching over the mountain tops. I miss you, baby girl. God, I miss you so much. You’d love it here. Ellie had filled the dark void in Joel’s life like she’d been born to do it; her never-ending questions, jokes at his expense, seeing the world for the first time with wide, curious eyes. He wasn’t ready to give that up again. But he’d have to, for the hope of a better world. For Ellie. For Sarah.

Nitpicking episode four (affectionately so)

I know this may be controversial but sometimes we nitpick things out of love and that is very much the case for me here.

I love so much about episode four and much of it has already been talked about but I would still tweak some things to make it perfect because I'm an incorrigible Crosshair girlie and I'll both dissect and cherish every moment he's in the limelight while it still lasts.

Anyway without further ado

1.) Crosshair's recklessness. I love me a trigger happy sniper but my man would never come so close to decking that imperial officer.

By all means that should have been Omega. Crosshair's motto has always been playing it safe (the thematic manifestation of dispatching danger from a safe distance). The point of him staying with the Empire is that despite the drawbacks and the Empire's moral corruption, they would have been 'safer' there.

Crosshair is willing to tolerate a lot if it's in the name of safety and the only times he's downright reckless is when he's pushed to the brink (killing Nolan, escaping Tantiss). Omega on the other hand has already shown that she has a lower tolerance for injustice. Her standing up to Hemlock earlier in the season was a reminder of that and it would have been more consistent to make her the one nearly provoked into a confrontation here.

So I would have had him holding her back here seeing as assessing danger and realizing the benefit of laying low is something Crosshair should be better at between the two of them.

2.) Huge missed opportunity to make Crosshair and Omega cooperate during the gambling scene. It was fun to see them bump heads but I would have loved to see more of them cooperating in creative ways, like Crosshair using reflections to see the officer's hand and helping Omega cheat the game.

Otherwise I would have made it a game of Dejarik. Because we have context for her being good at that while we haven't seen her play much sabacc so far. It's kind of like saying that if you're good at chess you're automatically good at poker.

3.) This could just be me but that moment where it seemed like Crosshair was about to let Omega go after Batcher alone felt off for his character. Crosshair lives to fight for a cause and I'm pretty sure it's been established that Omega is that cause now.

The best explanation I can think of is that he was bluffing and I can completely see him doing that in an attempt to change her mind. If it were me I would have made it look more like a dropped bluff and less like a 'this could have gone either way situation'.

4.) Would have loved to see them resolve the escape situation a bit more creatively too. I'm not a fan of the all the creature moments (don't love them in the new Vader run either) and a cute little team up between these two, combining their shooting abilities and using stealth and the terrain in their favor would have been cool to see. And just imagine Crosshair caving in at the very end, agreeing to let the animals go anyway after Omega has puppy eyed him into doing it.

Ten out of ten would have lived for that.

5.) The tremor. Where is it?? Why aren't we seeing more of it??? This really should be a bigger deal, I really need it to be a bigger deal. Yes, we see him miss a lot of shots but I need more.

6.) Reunion. This is the hardest for me to criticize because it does make for some great drama and a great cliffhanger but I'm more for putting character before entertainment.

The only way I see them making dagger eyes at someone they were ride or die determined to rescue not too long ago is if they still suspect Crosshair of setting up some kind of trap. Which is a bit of a reach this far into the plot.

Character wise it just isn't a logical decision for me.

But yeah, I suppose it all depends on where they take this scene from here. Let me know what you think.

Can we just talk about the quality difference between season 6 finale and season 7 premiere?

Season 6 as a whole was pretty lack luster with poor writing that peaked in the worst way in its finale. I was completely disappointed in the quality of the finale (no fault of the actors, it was a writing issue) it felt rushed, and while a lot of the emergencies in the show are far-fetched, this one felt way too out there. It felt too far-fetched even for 9-1-1. The show known for stupid emergencies that make no sense. Like the meteor girl. Or the car being thrown into the building's like 11th(??) floor.

Season 6 left a bad taste in my mouth and I was worried for season 7. I've seen a lot of shows get worse as time went on, their time having passed and having needed to be ended seasons ago. I was worried that was happening with 9-1-1 but I have new hope after watching the season 7 premiere.

It's new. I could feel that it was different, for obvious reasons. But it wasn't bad. Natalia is fine. I'm happy for that. Not just because of "Buddie" but because Buck deserves someone who will love him just as fiercely as he will love them and Natalia isn't that. She just was obsessed with death and Buck had died so she had like a death fetish or something.

With Chris's issue- at first I hated it. I was worried they were ruining his character, until I thought about it more. They're making him more like Buck, on purpose. The two share similar traumas and not just the tsunami. As Christopher gets older, it makes sense his trauma manifests in more mature ways. He isn't the little 8 year old we met. He is still a kid of course, but he's also slowly becoming a teenager. Once I thought about it, I liked it. I feel like it showcases the importance of Buck in the Diaz family. Even if you don't like romantic Buddie, anyone who watches the show can see how important Buck is to Eddie and Chris. I think Chris's trauma response is meant to be a literary parallel to Buck, how Chris is Buck's too. Even if not biologically but emotionally. I believe this is really important in a story telling point of view.

The Diaz family aside, I really liked this episode. The writing was distinctly better than it was in season 6. It made me excited for this season! I can't wait for season 7. I'm excited instead of dreading it! I can't wait to see what we have in store!

I pretty much loved the entire episode and I didn't feel disappointed by it. There was such a drastic quality change between season 6 finale and the premiere. I re-watched the finale before watching the premiere which just highlighted the quality difference. The writing isn't poor. The emergencies don't feel rushed. The pacing is better and the connections between the characters and the events flows better and makes more sense. I'm not going to lie, I lost trust because of season 6. But I think season 7 is going to build that trust back.

I'm really excited for this season!

okay i'll be honest i packed my bags up two days ago in regards to buddie bc i had read the leaked scripts and saw the "brother" on there and then while watching previous episodes i noticed all the big buddie hints were all more focused on buck than eddie (but then again 90% of the show is more focused on buck than eddie. not particularly mad about it but i'd like more of eddie) and i thought that it's over, because i thought the writers never thought of eddie as queer in any form ever and he's a straight man to them...

then the episode didn't have "brother" and THEN I FIND OUT THAT RIGHT UNTIL FILMING EPISODES 2 AND 3, EDDIE was supposed to kiss tommy?? and have the sexuality discovery arc?!?

now i'm back more than ever. just the fact that in the writers' minds, there is a possibility of queer eddie is enough for me. now eddie is literally gay to me, and nothing will change it, and all i need is for him to realize it (aka for the writers to actually put the words down)... tim also talked about how he actually intended to write stuff with natalia but then the actress left and he had to come up with something for marisol... oh we were so so close.

i think it can still happen btw. the words used were "fell through" and idk what the reasons are obviously (many ppl think it's bc ryan doesn't want to do it and i don't like him either but the switch up being so last minute makes me think not) and i hope it's just that they realized they need more time to dedicate to this for eddie bc his character would struggle a lot more with any kind of queerness than buck (he's not as experimental, repression king, catholic guilt, mexican macho man culture) and that would need way more than like 7 episodes to address and delve into.

i am happy for bi buck and glad he's gonna get a good, romcom-esque arc exploring himself along with tommy (i like bucktommy too) but god, i just caught up on seasons 5 and 6 and it made me love and connect so much more with eddie and even if not for buddie - although that would be a bonus (and logical next step) - i need eddie to figure out himself and come out and finally be free and happy and follow his heart.
