Thinking about regency era steddie where the Harringtons live in this big estate and Steve grows up there with the best possible education, but secluded from the real world, which he only knows through stories told by his teacher mr. Clarke.

Wayne Munson is their gardener and when he gets news that tragedy has struck his family in the city and his nephew has become an orphan, he manages to convince Mr. Harrington that they need another stable boy.

Steve keeps finding himself at the stables every spare moment he has to listen to all of Eddie's stories about his adventurous life in the city. He always loved mr Clarke's stories, but Eddie is an amazing storyteller who always leaves him craving for more. And eddie is just as captivated by the glimpses he gets of steve's life of richess and loneliness.

When the time comes for Steve to attend his first ball, he finds he has lost interest in what used to be everything he ever wanted. He doesn't care about pretty girls in dresses anymore, he just wants to be with Eddie in the hayloft.

But eddie wouldn't mind some of the glamour of Steve's world and Steve is happy to give that to him. He fetches Eddie one of his mother's old dresses and helps him tame his hair into a proper coiffure, then asks him for a dance in the straw. They dance among the horses until their feet ache and their mouths hurt from smiling and the stars are fading away in the morning light.

After Steve's parents pass and he inherits the estate, he finally has to get married. His mysterious wife Edith, who showed up out of nowhere without any connections or money and never does anything according to proper etiquette, is the subject of many town's gossip for years to come. Some claim she's a witch who enchanted the young Mr. Harrington, others say she was an orphaned wanderer charming enough to win his love with simple kindness. Their gardener will always be the only one to know the truth.

One of my absolute favs is the Dom Eddie series by Eddywow which is great if you like a lot of BDSM this series moves into a 24/7 dynamic and explores a lot of different kinks, it's a modern setting with no Upside Down but still shit parents on Steve's side it does have a little Nancy bashing but only in the beginning and in the Christmas part.

For those wanting kinky Sub!Steve and Dungeon Master Eddie we have wanna hurt you just to hear you screaming my name by DotyTakeThisDown. Which follows Eddie Munson aka the Dungeon Master of a BDSM Club called Hellfire meeting Steve who is out of sorts. Fake It Til You Make It by mascncheese sees our fav boys accidentally fake dating when Steve tries to get Dustin off his back but leads to some kinky fun and discoveries. Featuring switch!steddie and babygirlification of Steve.

And lastly we have what a shame (you came here with someone) an orphaned fic featuring Trans!Eddie as a Dom in the end of the fic. Most of this is poor frat boy Steve noticing Eddie has a knack for orally taking things and bemoans to his mum and his adoptive mum (Mrs Harrington and Mrs Henderson get married in this) about it until he confronts Eddie. Featuring a Mommy Kink on Steve's side.

2023 Wrap-up

I fulfilled 31 countries for the World Challenge this year, bringing my total up to 57 out of 208.

I also read about 14 other books that were repeats of countries, additional books in series, and ones I just randomly picked up, so something like 44 in total.

I also finished up all the backlog of countries I had rolled with the randomizer, so in the new year I will get to roll some new ones - yay, exciting.

So here are my top favorites from the year!

Top 5 reads in 2023

The Orphan Sky by Ella Leya

A really beautiful novel of a prodigy pianist coming of age in Soviet Azerbaijan. Musical prose and just breathtaking story.

2. The Exiles of Crocodile Island by Henye Meyer

This was an unexpectedly really good book that I was lucky to find for the tiny islands of São Tomé & Príncipe. Following a group of Jewish children forced to a Portuguese settlement. Really insightful characterization and lovely writing.

3. The Man Who Spoke Snakish by Andrus Kivirähk

Such a unique folklore-esque story by an Estonian author. A clash of modernity with ancient ways, and what gets forgotten.

4. The Key by Sara Elfgren & Mats Strandberg

Book 3 and finale of the Engelsfors series set in Sweden really brought the series to an amazing climax and gave us great character development. Also I think, the longest book I read this year.

5. The Wicked Bargain by Gabe Cole Novoa

Super fun queer pirate adventure! This was just so refreshing and comforting at the same time.

Heirs to the Kingdoms of Eregand and Lonliand, Steve and Tony are betrothed as children to strengthen the two countries' alliance against the encrouching armies of Hydra and Terring.

After the assassination of his parents and the attempted assassination of himself, Tony is brought to the court of Eregand for his protection and so he and Steve can get to know each other, but more attempts on his life follow and so he is sent away to be educated in a secret location until he is of age.

The sudden death of his Grandfather King of Lonliand and another attempt on his life bring Tony out of exile sooner than expected to claim his crown and wed Steve. But the threats to his life, to their lands still exist and those close to the crown are plotting against the new King and Prince, wanting power for themselves.

The Adventures of Steve and Orphan 47-60. With probably an extra one in the middle due to the 'pandora's box' originally being just one picture. I thought it was funnier this way though, so that's how it is now. Also- caption for the last picure-

"Eventually Steve simply settled for being happy that his Master had returned. He didn't exactly see why the nice person was making Master drink so much, but it smelled vaguely like meat, so at least he wasn't eating grass. Which seemed to be a weird preference of some humans. The rescue attempt may not have worked out how they planned it to, but with Master back all was well. Steve certainly wasn't going to let him leave alone next time. He wasn't planning on letting Master out of his sight. At least not for a while yet"

The draft for this story was made after Technoblade's prison stream with dream when the topic of Steve coming to rescue them came up. So my draft didn't extend past them getting out. I was gonna do something along the lines of 'the three musketeers' for the Ranboo rescue mission, but then Technoblade died. I had potential plans for a 'Lazerknife' guy showing up, after watching some of Phil's streams, but decided against it since I didn't think I could do it justice. Anyway. This is where the story ends. Steve has his Master back, all is well. Other things may happen afterwards, but Master is invincible, so he will be fine. Just hopefully more inclined to take Steve along next time. And maybe Orphan. The kid's been getting pretty good these days. Steve is beginning to doubt if he will ever get taller, but Orphan is Steve's apprentice, so it ought to happen at some point.

I just started following, but I would like an Arcane match-up (male character), if it's alright? I binged it 2 weeks ago after my brain decided it needed new blorbos

I am 26, she/her, nickname JCat. 155.5 cm tall (or a little over 5'1), fair-skinned with moles (but I call them [human] sum spots) stocky build and with fluff (I am a good pillow according to the animals and children that have fallen asleep ob me). Medium-length blonde hair and blue-gray eyes with green around the pupils. Wear glasses and have really poor eyesight (near-sighted)

Personality-wise: in character comparison, I am a genderbent, human Toothless from HTTYD, or a combo of Steve Rogers/Captain America and Loki from the MCU (or Phil Coulson if you've seen Agents of Shield). To clarify, I am a pretty friendly and easy-going person, with a streak of mischief. I tend to be a mom-friend in a sense that I make sure that my friends take care of themselves and give good advice (compliment from my friends). While mostly someone who entertains, I can be quite the trickster should the need arise. But I often try to stay within my morals and make sure I don't intentionally hurt those on my side.

While very good with kids (which is why my mom got me working at a daycare for about 3 years) I don't want my own, due to fear of pregnancy and my driven need to venture out and explore the world. But when it comes down to it, I'd probably adopt an orphan if I've taken a big liking to them.

Heirs to the Kingdoms of Eregand and Lonliand, Steve and Tony are betrothed as children to strengthen the two countries' alliance against the encrouching armies of Hydra and Terring.

Asura OC ramble

I like picking up ‘theme songs’ for my characters. I can’t remember exactly when I started to do that, but loving music, mainly melodic and/or bombastic or grandiloquent and has great rhythms, and at least good lyrics.

I tried to look for a song that’s singer sounded closely similar to the asura male player character’s voice actor (Steve Staley), and after a long search I found Solution 45.’s first album. That band’s singer (and growler) was Christian Älvestam. And that album’s first song became Vividatt’s theme song. Vivs is also the lyric writer of the band...

I’m also choosing the songs based on what I think the character’s singing voice would sound like.

Kexitonn - Kamelot; My Therapy. Which means Kexitonn’s singing voice is Tommy Karevik. Him being obsessed with music, it would make sense for him having trained sounding voice.

Billyuz is also a music maker, but he’s more like a Disc Jockey (DJ) and his theme song is It’s Alright by East 17. His singing voice being Brian Harvey. There are more characters with themes, like android Maxx created by Molly Bae, who also has a theme song, and is partly magitech and plastic as well as wood doll. Android Maxx’s theme song is Farewell II Flesh by ICE NINE KILLS. He’s all about Halloween.

Maxx was just a normal golem of Molly Bae, but through years she has improved him and made him an android. She actually has started to suspect that Maxx is actually posessed by a ghost, but she doesn’t know who exactly it is. Well, he used to be a member of the Inquest, but was killed after his boss found out that he was planning on taking his place. He was forced to be a test subject for modified bees, that were developed to eat flesh and make their bee nest inside a dead body. He was also injected with a drug that kept him alive, while the bees were stinging and eating up his body.

While standing near Maxx, you can hear the buzzing of bees, even if you can’t see them. Then there are times when you do see some bees, but they seem transparent...

Molly Bae has two theme songs: Deck the Halls and Diva by Tarja. Molly Bae is obsessed with creating toys, just like the toymaker Tixx, but she got her obsession a bit further; she has made herself to be a living doll. Her insides are still alive, but her skin is replaced with wood and plastic. This obsession also showed in making Maxx look more and more like alive asura. She has noticed Maxx to be able to take action that is not normal for golems, so she began to suspect that Maxx is possessed by a ghost, and that it must have happened when she was stealing power supplies from the Inquest. This power crystal was powered by a soul and she put it inside the golem Maxx, which then was taken over by this ghost.

Through years Maxx has fallen in love with her, but being an android and not knowing how’d she react like, he has not said anything.

If Maxx is all about the Halloween, Molly Bae is all about the WIntersday. She has taken as her duty to help orphans around Wintersday, and tried to make Maxx help out too. He was supposed to tell bedtime stories to the kids, but ended up giving nightmares to them by telling them about poor murderers and monsters that skeak around looking for their next victims.

So Maxx instead, started to tell scary stories around the Halloween.

Molly Bae has created a school, that is also a guild. She is the owner, Maxx is her secretary and Vividatt is the principal. The school’s name is Demonic University. The guild’s theme song is Ex Mortis by ICE NINE KILLS.

There’s also a character linked to the Super Adventure Box. His name is Axxit. Another dead Inquest member. He died inside a golem and his body is still there, but instead of possessing the golem, Axxit has become a digital glitching ghost, that around the time when Moto opens the Box again, he gets in as well. If you actually encounter him, and die, you die for real. He wears the Executioner’s Outfit, and as weapons he has the giant meat hammer and two rusty/bloody meat axes. He usually only lets people first see a glance of himself, and after that he starts to follow that certain player through the game, and at some point, instead facing the game’s boss, you will take him on. His theme song is Challenger by Sybreed. His power grow stronger around Halloween, so he can travel outside magitech, but he still glitches.

I wasn’t planning to make this a wall of text, but here we are. ^^; Got carried away. But now, I have to go to sleep.

Well I first have to express my opinion about someone writing that asura may have gland in their ears.

Really? Sorry, but asura do have nipples. I can’t remember who or when did a dev say this, but I remember one of the devs saying that asura do have nipples. They are just less noticeable than human’s or norn’s are. So even if asura ears are sensitive, they do not have glands in them. You silly, silly goose.

russian robin au?

I find russian Robin so interesting because I feel like Robin has this complicated relationship with Russia, or the idea of Russia, that isn't actually relevant to the show but it's very interesting to me specifically. In the podcast, her english teacher gifts her a copy of Anna Karenina in russian because he knew she wanted to learn, and she's very grateful for it. She'd told him she was interested in russian, I think, in the first episode. It's clearly like... the podcast's way of drawing a connection to Season 3, but I also love it because... most people in that sociopolitical and historical context wouldn't have been so excited about anything that came from Russia. It was the middle of the cold war, after all. But Robin doesn't even think about that. It's like she forgot about all of that, and choses to instead focus on classic literature. You can tell she romanticizes Europe a lot as this place of culture and adventure and freedom and if she's looking at Russia exclusively through the lenses of its classical literature, it wouldn't surprise me if she often failed to remember they were technically like the enemy. I'm not saying Robin is the most deconstructed anti-nationalistic anarchist out there, I usually prefer to not go too deep into politics when it comes to fandom stuff, but her interest in russian literature and language is certainly striking. It's like she sees past all of that and chooses to focus on the most beautiful artistic contributions of a country rather than the war. She doesn't join Steve and Dustin in their mission because she wants to be an American Hero, she's just bored and has such a great passion for languages that she saw a chance to approach russian in a real world situation and she took it, entirely and fully because of her love of knowledge, which trascends the war. I find that fascinating about her.

So, knowing that about her, I wonder how she would fit in an alternative universe in which she worked as a spy for Russia. I have several ideas about this.

Idea 1: My first idea is to put her in juxtaposition to El as a victim of the cold war caught in the crossfire, something something innocents paid for their crimes and they took medals home. In the same way they the US made experiments with children trying to create weapons, Russia would have made similar experiments, Robin being one of the kids involved. She doesn't get powers like El, she has no connection to the Upside Down. The results of the experiment are different. She has a much higher IQ than normal, and she can master other languages incredibly fast. They didn't think she'd be of much use until they learned she'd taught herself french with only a book and a dictionary, reaching a C2 level in less than six months. She's also incredibly good at cracking codes. Codes complex enough that would take a professional weeks of work came apart at her hands after a couple of hours. During her childhood, they use her for these purposes. They have her translate communication between their enemies and break secret codes for a few years, while preparing her for her actual mission: go to the States and gather information about the Hawkins Lab. She's 14 when they send her, and her english is so flawless you'd think she grew up in Indiana. Anyone older than her might have drawn more attention, and anyone else her age would still struggle with pronunciation, blowing their cover. She's perfect.

She's taken in by Richard and Melissa, a clueless american couple that thinks they're just adopting an orphaned girl from a nearby town. She enters Hawkins High, learns their ways, keeps an eye on the strange events around her and, at 17, gets assigned to work in the shopping mall with a boy she's identified to be involved with the conspiracy: Steve Harrington. She'll get close to him, earn his trust and, once he tells her everything, report back to her superiors. But then she ends up getting overly attached, and with this boy, she experiences something she's never known before: friendship, trust, love. He seems to care about her deeply and genuinely, and she feels compelled to tell him at least a small and tiny truth about herself, one of the few things they couldn't take from her. She likes women, and that has always seemed unimportant to her because she never thought she'd find love, or that she could ever afford to desire something for herself, but today she feels free with this ragtag group of misfits, and she wonders if maybe, once this is all over and she gets to go home, she'll be allowed to live in a house, not in their lab, go to university and love a girl one day.

Idea 2: she's actually not russian. She's an american girl intercepted by the russians at 15 because she cracked their code and was going to tell the authorities. They planned to kill her, but when she soon proved to be a literal prodigy, they decided to take advantage of her talent. All her parents know is that she went missing for two years and that when she returned, she came back... different. She doesn't remember what is it that they did to her, but she knows she's to rely information to them.

Idea 3: she's not an actual spy, but she's so good at russian that, when they capture her, she convinces them she's a super secret russian spy, so secret not even they know about her because she doesn't trust that they don't have spies among them. And she's actually in the middle of a very important mission with that dingus, so she needs them to release him immediately so she can see where he's going and do her job, thank you.
