Always.
Little Stiles blurb. This is my first time posting my writing, so don’t be too mean, please. I know it’s a little dialogue heavy, so I’m sorry about that. Also, I have no clue how to work tumblr, so I would appreciate any tips.
Fluff, pure fluff, it’s lowkey cringey, stiles is a dork, reader is scotts sibling
“I’m scared,” It was barely a whisper, but he heard.
“I know, but we’re gonna be okay. I’m with you,” he held me tighter.
“Always?” I already know the answer, but I need to hear it right now.
“Always. It’d have to be the end of the fricken’ world to keep me from you.” I smiled at that. After everything we’ve been through, the end of the world doesn’t sound so scary.
“I don’t wanna lose you.”
“You never will. No matter what, I’m with you. You and me forever right? ‘S what you said when you made our rings.”  I started laughing.
“I was high off my ass when I painted those, Sti. I literally used nail polish.”
“I know, you kept calling me pretty. I mean, I appreciate it, but you said it like a million times.”
“God, don’t remind me!” I gently hit his chest. He grabbed my hand, moving his face closer to mine.
“Am I still pretty?” His nose bumped mine.
“Of course you are. Can’t believe I got lucky enough to have such a perfect boyfriend.” I rest my forehead on his.
“M’not perfect, baby.” I wish he could see himself how I see him, but he can’t. So, I’ll just tell him, every day.
“To me you are. You’re every good thing in my world.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. I love everything about you. Your obsession with Star Wars. The way you pout when you focus on studying or working on a case. How selfless you are. How brave you are. Your beautiful brown eyes. Every birthmark you have. The impulsive decisions you make. Your hair. That big brain of yours.  How persepti-” I’m cut off by a gagging noise. I pull away from Stiles, to look at my door. Finding my brother, Scott, standing there, I roll my eyes. I hadn’t even heard the door open.
“Can you two stop being gross and come down so we can all talk?” He looks absolutely disgusted.
“Shut up Scott. I’m allowed to spend time with my boyfriend. Also, learn to knock! ” I throw a pillow at him. I hear some laughter at my shouting, from down the stairs, as I stand up. Scott, who dodged the pillow, rolls his eyes and heads back downstairs. “Alright, let's go before Scott throws a hissy fit.” Stiles groans, before standing up. As I head for the door, Stiles grabs my arm and pulls me back.
“I love you,” He tells me, holding me to him.
“I love you too,” I breathe against his lips. He kisses me lightly before we hear Scott yelling at us to hurry up.

Looking for active roleplay partners.
18/21+
Doubles. I also prefer female partners.
Mature content will be involved.
Dark themes and sensitive content will also be involved.
I'm looking for 3 fandoms specifically at the moment and will not accept anything other than the three I mention, so please read thoroughly.
The first Fandom I'm looking for is Shadow Hunters.
I'm looking for someone to play Jace Wayland against an OC of mine.
I can play as Simon, Raphael, Or Alec for you. If you want a mxm or fxf ship, I can do that also! I'm diverse and flexible.
The second Fandom I'm looking for is Teen Wolf.
I'm looking for someone to play either Scott McCall or Derek Hale against my OC.
I can play as Stiles, Isaac, or Theo.
If you want a mxm or fxf I'm okay with that also!
The third Fandom I'm looking for that I'm extremely thirsty for is Stranger Things lol
I'm looking for someone to play as Steve Harrington or Billy Hargrove for me.
I can play as Eddie Munson, An 18+ year old Dustin Henderson, Jonathan Byers, Vecna(Henry Creel) or Jim Hopper.
The only requirement I have when doing a stranger things roleplay is changing the settings to modern day! But of course with the exception of keeping their swagger/style. It's lowkey making a comeback anyway!
TEXTS WILL BE INVOLVED. I am active daily, around pretty much all the time. I send 3-4 lengthy paragraphs but sometimes I have to do texts. They're easier. I run an in home daycare and I'm a mom.
If you aren't okay with texts as much as actually writing out a story then I'm probably not the partner for you.
Tupperbox is also a requirement.
Drama, smut, foul language and mature themes will be present.
Do not interact if you're uncomfortable.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
I AM NOT ghost friendly and I give the effort I get in a roleplay. If you're a person who doesn't treat each roleplay/ship equally. Don't hit me up. You're only wasting my time.
My discord is ToInfinityyy#3748

Do you ever think about how different everything would be if the whole Dread Doctors business happened before the Nogitsune?
Like, Allison (and Isaac) would still be around. Scott and Stiles wouldn’t break up up because there’s no Nogitsune shaped space in between them, Scott would’ve handled Kira’s kitsune taking over him wayy better (see: lack of Nogitsune trauma), Scott wouldn’t get murdered by his own beta because he wouldn’t have a beta yet.
And on the other end of the spectrum, think of how much much better the Nogistune stuff could’ve been handled with years more experience under their belts and with more knowledge about kitsunes/nogitsunes in general after dealing with Kira’s kitsune.

"You will not go within 50 feet of Jackson Whittemore. You will not speak to him. You will not approach him. You will not assault or harass him physically or psychologically." Noah Stilisnki glanced at us with deception. It broke my heart to see him feeling so ashamed of us. If only he knew everything that was going on.
Jackson had told his father about us, and now Scott, Stiles, and I had a restraint order.
The Hazel-eyed boy gazed around. "What about school?"
"You can attend classes while attempting to maintain a 50 - foot distance."
"Bu-. Okay, what if we both have to use the bathroom at the same time and there's only two stalls available and they're only right next to each other?" Mr. Stilisnki, Melissa, and Jackson's dad sighed, crossing their arms over their chest. "I'll just hold it."
Stiles was bickering with his dad. "Move," Melissa pushed Scott and me slightly. She focused her gaze on her son. "It's not just this. Although, a restraining order is a new low that I didn't think that you would reach quite this soon. It's everything on top of it. The completely behaviour, the late nights coming home, having to beg Mr. Harris for you to make up that chemistry test that you missed." She now looked at me. "I truly didn't expect you to follow whatever these two had in mind while preparing such a stupid joke to Jackson." I felt a pang on my chest, biting my lower lip, deciding that it was better to remain silent.
"I missed a chemistry test?"
"Really, Scott? Really? I have to ground you. I am grounding you. You are grounded." Her eyes again on me. "That goes for you too, young lady. I have to ground you too." I nodded.
"What about work?"
"Fine.Other than work. And no TV."
"My TV's broken." And I didn't watch TV.
"Then no computer."
"I need the computer for school." True.
"Then no, uh, no Stiles."
"What?!" Stiles and I snapped at the same time.
"No Stiles?!" Said boy came closer to us.
"No Stiles!" She shouted, making me and the boy back up. Damn, Melissa was quite scary when she yelled. "And no more car privileges. Give me your keys. Give 'em to me!" Her hands shook a little as she tried to take the car key. "Oh, for the love of God."
"Mom, you want me to-"
"No."
"Mom, come on, let me just, mom. Mom!" He grabbed her trembling hands.
"What is going on with you? Is this about Allison?"
"Do you really wanna know?
"Yeah. Is this about your father?" Stiles nodded in the back, telling Scott to lie. I was too distracted by the mention of our sperm donor. "It is, isn't it? Okay, you know what, um-. We'll talk about this at home. I'm gonna go get the car." It made me think. Why did he leave Scott and Melissa?
Tumblr media
"So did you guys get into much trouble?" Allison asked me, her right hand tightly clutching her bag. "Melissa seems like a woman who has a strong attitude."
"She does." I nodded. "She took Scott's car keys, TV, my radio, and no Stiles." I pouted. I opened the door of the library, motioning for her to go first. She grinned at me.
"Woah, no Stiles." She winked while I looked at her confused. "Must be hard for you."
"Uh? What do you mean?" She didn't answer, gazing at the camera that was installed on the top of the wall, walking directly to a determined place. I wanted to ask her again, but if the Argents knew that she was talking to me, hell would break. That is why when we entered the library, I walked away from her, finding Scott and Stiles.
I smiled at both boys, Allison separated from us by a big shelf. From one of the spaces between the books, she slid a tablet. "It's everything Lydia can translate. And trust me, she was very confused."
"Yeah, what'd you tell her?"
"That we were part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures." She replied, making Scott chuckle.
"I am part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures." He gazed at both of them, feeling insulted.
"I-I do too." Stiles's head turned towards me as he heard my confession.
"You do?" I nodded. "Want to come to my house and play together? We could complete all the missions, I'm already on the second part of the new event that finishes on-"
"No way!" I interrupted him. "It started one month ago! How did you get so far?"
Scott grinned, interrupting our passionate talk about our online community. "Okay, does it say how to find out who's controlling him?"
"Not really. But Stiles was right about the murderers."
"Yes!" His aggressive gesture celebrating that he was right almost hit me on the face.
"It calls the Kanima a weapon of vengeance. There's a story in there about this South American priest who uses the Kanima to execute murderers in his village."
"All right, see? So maybe it's not all that bad." I nodded along.
"Until the bond grew strong enough that it killed whoever he wanted it to."
I groaned, punching Stiles's arm playfully. "Why did you have to talk so soon?"
"All bad, all very, very bad."
"Here's the thing, though. The Kanima's actually supposed to be a werewolf. But it can't be-" Allison couldn't finish her sentence as the person in charge of the library got closer to her, trying to organize some books.
"Until it resolves that in its past which manifested it." Scott finished fo her. A chill ran through my body, I knew what was in my past.
"Okay, if that means that Jackson could use a few thousand hours of therapy, I could've told you that myself." If I was the same as Jackson, a Kanima. Would I be a werewolf after discovering what manifested this all?
"What if- It has something to do with his parents? His real parents." That could be me too. Jackson and I could have ended up being this monster for similar reasons.
"Yeah, does anybody actually know what happened to them?"
"Lydia might."
"What if she doesn't know anything?"
"Well, he doesn't have a restraining order against me, so- I'll talk to him myself." That wasn't a good idea. Jackson wouldn't be able to control his instincts if he was mad. And yeah, Allison was a pretty great hunter, but she could still get killed.
"Okay, what do I do?"
"You have a make-up exam, remember?" She grabbed his hand. "Promise me."
"Are they going to have sex right now? Here?" Stiles chuckled after my comment, grabbing my hand, taking me away from them to give privacy.
Tumblr media
Scott was trying to past the chemistry test that he didn't attend, and I hoped that he would pass it. Stiles had spent the night before it helping him as much as possible, without Melissa knowing, of course. Remember, no Stiles.
Allison went to talk with Jackson and Stiles with Lydia. Allison didn't let me go with her, saying that she could protect herself, but I felt like something was going to be wrong. Stiles decided that Lydia would shy away if we went in a group to talk to her, so I was resting my back against the lockers while he followed the strawberry blonde girl.
I heard the ticking of a clock inside my head, I groaned. "Y/N?" Scott? Was I hearing Scott inside my head? "Allison needs me. Go get Stiles, he is in trouble. Keep an eye on him?"
"What about your exam?"
"They need me. She needs me, please."
"Go get Allison," I whispered aloud. I started walking fastly, trying to find Stiles. I did, and he was following Erica.
"You can't tell Derek, okay? There's a lot more to this that you don't know about. And just because you got the Alpha bite makeover doesn't give you a license to go around destroying people."
"Why not? That's all anybody ever used to do to me. I used to have the worst crush in the world on you. Yeah, you, Stiles. And you never once even noticed me. Exactly how you're not noticing me right now." Her hand rested on his chest, and I could feel hot all over. I didn't think twice, walking fastly to them, grabbing her wrist.
"I told you," I growled. "Don't touch-"
I was interrupted when the boy's locker room opened, Scott flying in the air, falling brutally into the ground, groaning. Jackson jumped on him, not being able to control himself. I ended up jumping on top of Jackson, trying to free Scott from him. But Whittemore punched me on the chin. Still, I continued fighting until Erica grabbed Jackson, and Stiles grasped me, lifting me from the floor. His arms were tight around my waist, mouth near my ear, letting me know that my eyes were ice blue. "Close them. Close your eyes. Breathe with me." He whispered.
We all ended up getting detention, Jackson had gone out of the room. He was pale and crazily sweating. When he came back, he still looked like he was going to pass out. Mr. Harris had left us on our own, letting us know that we needed to organize the library. I hated that dude.
Erica had let us know that Jackon's parents died in a car accident. Her father was the insurance investigator. Every time he sees Jackson drive his Porsche, he makes some comment about the huge settlement he'll be getting when he's 18. During all this, Stiles was sitting next to her, and she tried to lowkey flirt with him.
Ugh.
"It means he was born after his mom died by c-section. They had to pull him out of her dead body."
"So was it an accident or not?" Allison and I were staring at Jackson while organizing some books. The sooner we finished, the sooner we could get the hell out here.
"The word all over the report is inconclusive."
"Then his parents could have been murdered?" My parents weren't killed. My mom was a murderer, and my dad was an asshole who didn't have the heart to take care of any of his kids.
"If they were, then it falls in line with the kanima myth. You know? It seeks out and kills murderers."
"Then what about me?" I whispered.
"You aren't a kanima," Hazel-eyes peered deep into mine. "I told you before. We would have known that you were the Kanima like we knew that Jackson was." His hand rested on my back. "Don't worry about that. We will continue investigating."
After comforting me, Scott decided that we had to talk to Jackson. They continued talking, but I decided to ignore them. I felt dizzy, so I continued grabbing books, placing them where they belonged. My eyes went to read the title of the book 'Close your eyes, Y/N'. I blinked, a couple of times until those words disappeared, and the real title of the book appeared.
I grabbed another book, glancing at it. 'Obey or they die.'
"Stiles," I grabbed his arm, but he was trying to talk to Allison and Scott, deciding what to do with Jackson. "Stiles," He finally looked at me, a questioning look on his face. "W-What is the title of this book?"
He grabbed the books from my arms, still confused. "To kill a mockingbird." I nodded after his reply, smiling and placing the book where it belonged. I walked around, trying to find Jackson. But I found Matt, laying on the floor, blood dripping from the back of his neck.
"What the heck?" I heard Scott behind me when I turned around to look at him, glass shattered from above us, books falling. Scott threw his body on me, trying to shield me from the glass. "You okay?" I nodded my head, then he called for Erica. We heard her scream, and then, a thud.
We both quickly got up from the floor. We had to check on Erica, Allison, and Stiles. Stiles, was he okay?
Scott ran to Allison, and Stiles asking both of them if they were alright. I took a step to go to them but was stopped by Jackson. Half of his face was squamous, yellow eyes. He pushed me with incredible strength, my back hitting something, making me groan in pain.
Stiles clutched my hand, moving me to them. "Hey, hey. You okay?" His worried eyes examined every part of my face.
"Hurts like a bitch." I answered, grinning to lower his anxiety. Jackson was now acting odd, he was acting like the kanima. He was being controlled. He began writing on a blackboard "STAY OUT OF MY WAY OR I'LL KILL ALL OF YOU." Then he flew out of the library, smashing his body against a window.
We got into our feet, Stiles and I running towards Erica while the other two were too focused on the board. "Whoa, hey, hey, hey, hey! I think she's having a seizure." Stiles took Erica into his arms.
"He's alive." Allison checked Matt's pulse.
"Hey, we need to get her to a hospital."
"Derek - only to Derek." Even if her body was shaking, she just wanted to go to Hale.
"When we get her to the hospital-"
"To Derek. To Derek."
"Go." Allison looked deeply into my- Scott's eyes.
"I'm staying here with you."
"He can't take her alone. Not like this. And Matt - I've got to call an ambulance for him, just go."
"Guys," I interrupted. "Take Erica to Derek, now. I will stay here with Allison," I gazed at Scott, who was utterly anxious. "We will be alright." I felt other eyes on me when I turned my head I was met with Stiles's eyes. "Taker her to Derek, okay? Then, come back to me." He nodded.

things I want/dream to see if Teen Wolf ever came back in any form (movie, spin off, s7, etc)
1) Allison back from the dead. Lets be honest here, its a supernatural show. Bringing Allison back from the dead, even if it was like an alternate reality version of her, would not be a difficult task and I would love to see a whole movie or spin off where she just appears and it brings everyone back to Beacon Hills to understand how she rose from the dead.
2) This came from Dylan O’Brien’s vision of future Stiles - but Stiles becomes the sheriff of Beacon Hills after working with the FBI for so many years, and now he helps the pack with the weekly supernatural dilemmas in his jeep that he just straps a cop light to the top of.
3) Lydia lives in Beacon Hills with Stiles now, but she is a retired scientist who helped discover some cure to some kind of rare disease, and now she lives in Beacon Hills as a remote mathematician for the government in her spare time. She mainly helps Stiles solve crimes though since she always knows when a death is coming, and does her banshee duties with the pack.
4)  Malia and Kira are together. I just really feel like that was a solid relationship that never turned into anything and could have. I feel like Malia and Kira had more chemistry than Malia/Scott and Kira/Scott combined.
5) Theo and Liam aren’t admittedly dating, but they spend all their time together and often go off on wild missions. They find new werewolves without packs and bring them to Beacon Hills to join the McCall pack, so sometimes they’re gone for weeks on end. Everyone knows they’re basically together but they just don’t say it aloud. They’re always there when the pack needs them though, Liam still basically being Scott and Stiles’ son, and Theo and Stiles hating each other though they lowkey got over it a long time ago.
6) Melissa and Argent didn’t work out, Argent’s been gone for years and they can’t seem to find him once they all find out that Allison has made an appearance. Melissa is still single, but her and Noah spend a lot of their time together, basically acting like a married couple without the intimacy part. They get teased a lot.
7) Noah Stilinski is retired as the sheriff since his son took his place, but he still helps the pack with anything they need and is always there to help support Stiles in his investigations. Stiles goes to him a lot when he’s hit a dead end in a case.
8) Hayden, Mason, and Corey are all off doing life somewhere else, but when something big happens they’re always on Scott’s speed dial. They’re always there for their pack. But just like Scott, Stiles and Lydia, they need to go live their lives somewhere else for a little while.
9) Scott is the local veterinarian now. He took over Deaton’s clinic, but Deaton’s still around. He usually is around teaching Stiles the occasional tricks of magic.
10) They focus more on Stiles’ ability for magic. They set up things like he would be the new Emissary for the pack but then just swept it under the rug. It would make sense for Stiles to have those kinds of abilities or at least access to it. We saw him perform some kind of magic with the mountain ash, and he survived the magic of a kitsune inside him and survived the bizarre magic of sorts from the Wild Hunt. I’m not saying make him a wizard, but exploring those possibilities would be interesting. Even if in the end he decides he doesn’t want to. Him being the sheriff would give him even more opportunity to be a mediator in all things supernatural of the town.
11) New werewolves that Scott, Stiles, Lydia, Liam, Theo, Malia, Kira, everyone have to parent. But like a lot of them. Hunters have been killing off their alphas and now they’re alone. They’re all new and confused and living at the McCall house and everyone's trying to keep them from killing each other while also trying to teach them to be werewolves and its just pure and Stiles makes a lot of jokes about parenthood.
12) Stiles to be confirmed bisexual, however I think he should be married to Lydia. I’ve thought about all the other options and they’d just be annoying. If they were engaged we’d have to see a cheesy wedding (which I wouldn’t be against, as long as they do it right), them still dating makes absolutely no sense, and they’ve been through way too much for them not to end up together. Like they’re literally each others emotional tethers. They were put through too much drama, they just need to be married and have some cute moments on the side while they’re just a solid crime solving, werewolf babysitting duo. I know shows are capable of it, Teen Wolf was already really good with Stydia in not making every scene about them and their relationship. They can put relationship drama with Scott and new alive Allison, or the new werewolves, or Theo and Liam. Obviously they can have their married couple fights and their normal ups and downs, but honestly it would be best to just keep them generally happy. Let them be the Lily and Marshall and Scott and Allison be the Barney/Ted and Robin.
13) Kira’s a history teacher at Beacon Hills and Malia’s the new coach. However, Coach never really retired, so him and Malia are just co-Coaches. They would make a hilarious duo and I just want to see them yelling at each other as well as teaming up to yell at the kids. Malia and Kira working together is what starts to spark their relationship. Sooner or later Kira becomes principle, but only when the principle quits and Kira’s the only one willing to take the job.
this is it for now. I didn’t even get into Isaac, Derek or Peter! when I think of more I’ll make a part 2.

So Close - S.S. XVI
Summary: The universe has a funny way of putting the things you want right in front of you, but just out of reach. Stiles and Y/N have been best friends ever since Scott brought him home, but when Stiles realizes that he might want to be something other than best friends, she leaves to go to some fancy private school up North. Now that she’s back though … maybe he’s got a shot? A Teen Wolf AU in which the reader has always been so close to Stiles and yet so far.

“You know, I really hate driving on this thing,” you mumbled as you took off your helmet. Scott took it from you as you shook out your hair. “I mean, look at this. My hair’s a mess.”
He didn’t answer and you were about to complain some more when you saw him walking around the bike to talk to the twins. What were they doing back?
“You’re back in school?” he asked them.
“No, just to talk,” Ethan said as you stood next to your brother. He cast a quick glance at you before turning back to Scott.
“Well, I’m not really in the talking mood, so-” you said as you looped your arm through Scott’s.
“Plus, talking’s kind of a change of pace for you guys,” Stiles interrupted you as he walked up to the group. “Usually, you’re just hurting, maiming, and killing.”
“You need a pack,” Ethan continued like he didn’t hear you and Stiles. “We need an alpha.”
“Yeah …” Stiles pretended to think about it. “Absolutely not. That’s hilarious though.”
“You came to us for help. We helped.”
“You beat his face into a bloody pulp,” Stiles argued. “That’s not helping. In my opinion, that’s actually counterproductive.”
“Seriously, that’s what you guys were doing while I-” you started, pulling on Scott’s arm again.
“Why would I say yes?” Scott asked interrupted.
“We’d add to your strength. We’d make you more powerful,” Aiden said. “There’s no reason to say no.”
You rolled your eyes. You liked it better when he wasn’t talking.
“I can think of one,” Isaac said as he strode over, pointing a finger at them with the same hand that was holding Cora’s. “Like the two of you holding Derek’s claws while Kali impaled Boyd.”
“Yeah, that was real helpful, guys,” you said sarcastically.
“I don’t know why we’re not impaling them right now,” Cora chimed in.
Aiden shifted just enough for his blue eyes to shine and his fangs to drop. “You wanna try?”
You stepped forward and put a hand out to Cora to stop her from engaging. Scott pulled Isaac back by his wrist. You took a deep breath and stepped back so you weren’t in the middle of everything.
“Sorry, but they don’t trust you,” Scott said, diffusing the situation. “And neither do I.”
He pushed past them and Stiles followed. You started to as well, but stopped when Cora lingered. You grabbed her hand and pulled her away from them, and Isaac trailed after the two of you.
“I don’t get why you always stick up for them,” Cora said once you were a few feet away.
“I don’t stick up for them,” you said. “I just don’t want you to all worked up before your big geometry test.”
“Ugh, don’t remind me.”
---
The school was a nightmare. You hated mischief night. As fun as it was to pull pranks and get free candy, it was exponentially less fun to hit with a toilet paper roll on your way to class. You put on a smile for Cora because she was having enough trouble adjusting to high school as it is. The look of relief on her face when Derek called was enough for you to encourage her to ditch the rest of the day. Yeah, she needed to catch up a lot but she also needed to not murder her classmates.
Noah had come to deliver an announcement to the school and you’d bumped into him in the hallway. The two of you were talking about the book you were reading in English when Stiles came running up to you.
“The William Barrow?” he asked, bulldozing over your conversation. “The Shrapnel Bomber? Spotted nearby?”
“Stiles, what are you-”
“A little closer than nearby, actually,” Noah admitted.
The frown on your face deepened as your dad blew past with a team of officers, talking about he needed to know where every entrance and exit in the school was.
“Okay, can either of you tell me what’s going on here?” you asked. Your eyes followed your dad until he rounded a corner.
Noah told you about the bomb that Barrow set up years ago and then he told you the reason why he did it. The kids on the bus had glowing eyes. And now he’d escaped from the hospital, with the intent to set off another bomb.
“We, um-” you put your hand on Stiles’ arm after Noah. “We happen to have some friends with glowing eyes.”
“Yeah,” he sighed. “You wanna tell ‘em or should I?”
The original plan was to split up to cover more ground, but at some point you’d met up and gathered Lydia and Allison to tell them what happened. The police already cleared the building but Lydia was sure Barrow was still there, and you had to figure out what to do once he was caught.
“The bestiary is literally a thousand pages long,” Allison said as she lifted the blinds. “If I’m going to find anything about flies coming out of people’s bodies, it could take me all night.”
“I’ll help you,” you said. Stiles was giving you a look. “It’ll go by faster that way and it’s not like I can concentrate on my classes with Barrow still out there.”
He nodded and you started following Allison out the window.
“And remember,” Lydia said, “The word in archaic Latin for fly is ‘musca.’”
“Got it,” Allison said as she climbed over the ledge.
“See you guys later,” you smiled and waved at them before following her out.
---
After a good few hours of combing through the bestiary for any mention of flies, Chris got home with dinner. Allison pushed herself up and walked over to the door, throwing a look over her shoulder to you.
“You coming?” she asked.
“Yeah,” you sighed. “You go ahead. I’m gonna call Scott with an update.”
“Okay,” she smiled. “Hey, uh, I know this is awkward, but-” you raised an eyebrow and she laughed. “Never mind. I’ll save you some pizza.”
“You’re the best.” You grinned at her as she closed the door behind her. You dug out your phone and got up while you waited for it to ring. Voicemail.
“Okay, so Allison and I have basically spent the day doing nothing,” you sighed as you paced. “Well, nothing helpful. Flies are able to carry messages from the dead, but Barrow’s not dead. Beelzebub is the Lord of the Flies, but I think he probably has better things to do than mess with teenagers.” The lights started flickering and you got quieter. “Just call me back, okay?”
You hung up and walked over to the door, but it wouldn’t open. You tried again but it was locked. You heard something fall over and spun around to find five shadowy figures getting closer to you. You engaged Derek’s knife and called for Allison, but it didn’t help. Fighting didn’t help.
You heard the Argents yelling your name when they closed in, but they started to sound further away. The room was cold. One of the shadows put their hand on the side of your face. They cradled your face, and you were faintly aware of the burning sensation. Just like you were faintly aware of your screaming.
You couldn’t pull your eyes away from the glowing orbs just behind the shadow. Or were they in front? They were gone in the instant that you blinked. And so was everything else - except for the darkness.
You weren’t sure how much time had passed between calling Scott and Chris pouring water on your face. You gasped as you woke up and scrambled to get your back against a wall.
“Y/N, what happened?” Allison asked, trying to get close to you.
“I- I don’t know,” you said. You were stuttering. You were freezing. “There were five of them. They- they came out of the shadows. They were the shadows-”
Your phone lit up and you could see Stiles’ name flash across the screen. He could be in danger. You reached for it and got up.
“I-I have to go,” you said.
“Y/N, wait-” Allison caught your arm. “What happened?”
“They were wearing black and I couldn’t see their faces. Their eyes were …” you searched for the word. “Haunting. Glowing. Almost like …”
“Like what?”
“Fireflies.”
---
You ran out of the Argents’ apartment building and called Stiles. He didn’t answer. You checked your messages.
“Hey, so don’t panic,” he started. You hated it when he said that. “I know you hate when I say that but just- just trust me, okay? Barrow was after Kira and we’re on our way to the substation to go save her. It’s no big deal. Call me when you get this.”
You checked your most recent message.
“Okay, so you didn’t call me. It’s cool. It’s fine. Scott says you called him but whatever.” He took a breath. “Uh, this is kind of awkward but your dad is kind of taking us into custody because we may or may not have destroyed the power station. If you could meet me at the police station, that would be great. Oh, this is Stiles, by the way. In case you didn’t notice from the-”
Your phone cut him off and you shoved your phone in your pocket and started heading to the police station. Scott, Kira, Lydia, and Stiles were on their way out when they got there.
“Oh, so your phone does work?” Stiles asked as you ran up to him. You almost tackled him with the hug you gave him. “Woah, hey, I’m fine. I told you- why are you so cold?”
“I don’t- just hug me, okay?”
“Yeah, okay,” he said softly, tightening his grip around you. You pulled away when Scott cleared his throat and handed you his jacket.
“What happened?” he asked. “You look terrible.”
“Thanks,” you mumbled. “I don’t know exactly what happened. I was at Allison’s and I called you … and the power went out so I tried to go find Allison. The door was locked and-” you looked up at Kira. “I’ll tell you at home, okay? Right now, I just want to go home.”
---
Not to sound narcissistic or anything, but considering this was the second time you almost died in six months, you expected a little more concern. But Scott was more concerned about Kira getting her phone back. He even gave her your helmet so she could ride on the bike with him! Sure, you hated that bike but still. A little brotherly concern would be nice.
“Okay, this one will get you into all of the perimeter doors,” Stiles explained as he handed Scott a key. You stopped sulking in the passenger’s seat and paid attention. “This one into the evidence room. And this one’s for my father’s office.”
“You didn’t steal these, did you?” Scott asked. You rolled your eyes.
“No. I cloned them using the RFID emulator,” Stiles answered with a nod.
“Is that worse than stealing?” Scott asked, frown on his face.
“That depends on your definition of worse,” you said, leaning over the armrest to get closer to the conversation. “But it’s a lot smarter.”
“Aww, thanks,” Stiles smiled and looked down at you. You realized just how much closer you had gotten.
“Uh, Scott, can I ask you something?” Kira asked. She led Scott a few feet away and you moved back to your side of the car.
“So they’re cute together. Don’t you think?” you asked.
“Who?” Stiles asked. You pulled a face. “Oh, Scott and Kira? I mean, yeah. They’ve both got that sunshine child thing going for them.”
“Yeah, but-” you stopped when they headed back to the car.
“Okay,” Stiles grinned at them. “So, now almost everybody’s out dealing with the blackout. But there’s always somebody at the front desk. There’s dispatch and usually a night shifter or two.”
You listened as Stiles explained the plan to the two of them and that he could only be lookout because of the investigation around Noah. That your dad was in charge of. He sunk back in his seat and watched Scott and Kira leave.
“So you think they’ve got a shot at pulling this off by themselves?” you asked quietly, slumping back in your chair.
“Oh, not a chance in hell,” Stiles answered. “But Scott goes along with all my dumb ideas so-”
“Your ideas aren’t dumb,” you said, pushing yourself up. “Reckless, maybe. Never dumb.”
“You think so?” Stiles asked.
“Of course.”
“Listen, we, uh, never really got the chance to talk,” Stiles started. “About, you know, that night our parents were missing … and Scott wasn’t …”
“I remember,” you said.
“You do? Great, uh …” he took a deep breath. “Listen, I’m really sorry for-”
A car pulled in front and you pulled Stiles down. Peering over the dashboard, you saw that it was your dad. Stiles was unusually quiet next to you.
“I’ve gotta go help them,” you whispered. You were so close to him.
“Yeah,” he said quietly. “I understand. I’ll, uh, text Scott.”
You nodded and made your way into the building. What you were going to talk to your dad about, you had no idea. But you had to try.
“Dad!” you called after him, pushing through the doors. “Dad! I need to talk to you.”
Rafael looked surprised to see you. You couldn’t blame him. “What’s wrong?”
“I just-” you took a breath. You needed something. “Why did you stop coming to see me? I know Willow Creek was a lot closer, but why didn’t you … call? Or text?”
Rafael looked away and took a deep breath. “Y/N, I … I thought we were in a good place.”
“We were, but then I got kicked out and you dropped off the map,” you said. “You didn’t even tell me you were coming home.”
“I didn’t want to have to bring you guys into this,” he explained. “I just wanted-”
“Wanted what? To do your job and leave?” you asked. “Were you even going to tell us that you were back?”
You heard the doors open and felt Stiles stop next to you. Rafael was staring at him but you couldn’t look away from your dad.
“Stiles, what are you doing here?” he asked.
“I-”
“I asked him to come,” you said. “Because he’s always been there for me. Just like Noah has always been there for me. Unlike you.”
You turned to leave and Stiles said he’d be right behind you. You stormed out to the parking lot and sat on the Jeep’s hood while you waited for everyone to finish.
Stiles was out first, but he didn’t say anything. A few seconds later, Scott and Kira ran out with dumb, goofy grins on their faces.
“Are you finished?” you asked.
“Yep! All the pics deleted,” Scott beamed.
“That was awesome!” Kira was still visibly excited. “I mean, terrifying. Completely terrifying, but kind of awesome! I’ve never done anything like that before. Have you?”
You choked back some laughter when you saw how quickly Scott’s face fell.
“Yeah, once or twice,” Stiles said. Kira hummed in acknowledgment.
“So I guess I should take you home,” Scott said. Kira looked a little crestfallen as they walked away.
Stiles turned to you. “I guess that’s our cue, huh? After all the excitement of, uh, getting some new emotional baggage to carry around?”
You laughed pushed yourself off the Jeep. “You know … Cora texted me something about a blacklight party at the loft. If you wanna take your troubled childhood and use it as an excuse to do a little underaged drinking?”
“I don’t need to use my troubled childhood an excuse for my underaged drinking,” Stiles scoffed. “I’ve got plenty of other reasons to drink underage!”
You met up with Scott and Kira at the party, but excused yourself to grab some waters for the group. Before anything too crazy happened, you needed to make sure everyone at least had some water in their systems.
When you got back to the group, however, you found Stiles’ face smeared with luminescent lipstick. You handed the waters out and shoved Stiles’ in his chest. “Seriously?”
“Y/N, it’s not- it’s not like that!” he yelled over the music. You were already stomping away.
“I don’t think I care what it’s like anymore,” you said. You laughed. “I mean, honestly, Stiles, I don’t know what I expected. Go have fun with whoever kissed you. Heck, go have fun with Lydia! Just leave me alone.”
You shrugged him off and went to find wherever they kept the alcohol in the loft. You ended up finding Allison and handed her another drink. She was staring in the direction of Cora and Isaac slow dancing to electro-dance music.
“Rough night for you, too?” you asked, bumping into her arm.
“I’m not moping,” she said when she turned to you. “Seriously, I’m not. So don’t pity me.”
“So this doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that Scott’s here with Kira and you thought Isaac was into you until he asked Cora out?” you asked, downing your own drink.
“Maybe,” she admitted. “Okay, give me that. I’m not moping sober.”
“That’s the spirit!” you laughed.
“Wait, why are you moping?” she asked a few drinks later. “And why is Stiles dancing with some girl in a wig?”
“I’m moping because he’s dancing with some girl in a wig,” you said. “God, I can’t believe I just said that out loud.”
“So you’re seriously saying you’ve never told anyone how you feel about him?” Allison asked, laughing slightly.
“I’m saying that …” you sighed. Looking around the room. “That I need to find Lydia. How long has it been since you saw her?”
“I don’t know … a little while ago.” She frowned. “You’re right. We should find her.”
You got lost in the crowd and eventually found Stiles racing out of the loft. You grabbed his arm.
“Hey, have you seen Lydia?” you asked.
“Seriously, you’re still mad at me about that?” he asked.
“No- well, yes. But I haven’t seen her since we got here and I’m really worried about her,” you said.
“I’m sure she’s just making out with Aiden somewhere,” he sighed. “Is that all? Because I’ve gotta go.”
“Where are you going?” you asked.
He sighed again and pulled out a key. It was glowing under the UV light. “To figure this out.”
---
The sun had started to come up by the time you and Stiles broke into the chemistry classroom. Stiles closed the door carefully behind you and then went to the supply closet. His mystery key fit perfectly.
“Stiles, that doesn’t mean anything,” you said gently.
“What? You’re talking to me now?” His words were harsh but his voice was quiet. He was confused. Hurt.
You watched him go up to the blackboard and take a piece of chalk. He wrote matching atomic numbers next to the originals. His handwriting was an exact match.
“Does that also not mean anything?” he asked. His voice was shallow.
You put your hand on his and took the chalk out of his grip. “Hey,” you said gently. “Look at me, okay? Stop looking at the numbers.”
He did. There were tears in his eyes. “I thought you were mad at me?”
“I was,” you said. “But I think I was just jealous. It doesn’t matter now.”
“You forgive me?” he asked.
“I-” you looked down. And you realized that you did forgive him. He’d done nothing wrong. “I understand that it wasn’t your fault. There’s nothing to forgive.”
“There’s a lot to forgive,” he said. “Y/N, I- I’m scared. I don’t remember doing this. I’m getting worse.”
“I know,” you said softly. “So am I. I think Allison’s the only one that's not … not falling apart.”
“I’ve been having these nightmares,” he started. He shook his head and scratched his neck. “I don’t know. Can you still call them nightmares if they happen when you're awake? Or when I think I'm awake. Am I awake?”
“As awake as I am,” you said.
You reached for his hand when he started picking at his nails again. They were a little bloody and ragged looking, but that didn't matter to you.
“You promise?” His voice was small and it trembled with every word. He looked like a scared little boy.
“No matter what.”
You squeezed his hands and pulled him into a hug. When he pulled away, his hand was cupping your jaw. He ran a hand through your hair, finger stopping behind your ear, and frowned.
“What’s wrong?”  you asked, tilting your head to the side.
“Nothing.” His eyes snapped up to meet yours. “Nothing at all.”
You frowned. He was acting strange. “You’re sure nothing's wrong? Cause you’re acting a little-”
“Actually, I’ve gotta go,” he said. He pulled away and started heading for the door. “I can’t do this.”
“Do what?” You asked, walking behind him. He was going so fast. “Stiles, you drove me here. Stiles!”
But he was gone when you reached the hallway.
“Great,” you mumbled. “Looks like I’m walking home.”

“Ya know, that guy kinda looks a lot like you, Gabe.” Stiles pointed at the screen as a boy with a red school jacket and headphones made a face.
I looked from the TV to one of the boys. Their faces were alike, and they were probably the same height. Gabe’s hair was longer, and his face wasn’t as worried.
He snorted, “He does not.”
Stiles reached over and ruffled his hair. “Does too.”
Gabe uncurled himself from my side and pulled the pillow from me, hitting Stiles in the face with it. Stiles shot up, throwing his blanket over Gabe. The taller boy ran to the living room, positioning himself on one end of the round table. Gabe struggled to rip the blanket off before running after Stiles.
“Stiles, you dickhead!”
“Language!” My dad yelled from upstairs.
I laughed and got up from the couch, shuffling over to see my brothers circling each other around the table.
“Boys, come on.” I chuckled, seeing the playful snarl on Gabe’s face.
I rolled my eyes as Stiles growled. I decided I would film the disaster and ran upstairs to get my phone. I heard Dad on the phone with someone. I leaned against the door of his room.
“A body in the woods?”
“Yeah, two joggers found it.”
“But only one half?”
That sounded strange.
“Yes, sir.”
“So let me get this straight. Two joggers went for a run in the woods, and they found half of a twenty something year old girl’s body?”
“Yep.”
“Alright. I’m on my way over now.”
“Okay. State police will meet you there.”
“Okay. You have a nice night, now.”
“You too, sir.”
He hung up the phone before getting ready to leave. I ran and got my phone before scrambling back down to the boys, hoping my dad wouldn’t catch me.
“Lup, some help?” Stiles made a face.
“No.” I laughed and pulled out my phone so I could start to film.
Gabe turned and flashed a pearly white grin at the camera before talking himself up.
“Stiles, I’m gonna take you down.”
Dad came down the stairs, raising an eyebrow as he walked right into the middle of Gabe’s attempt to tackle Stiles. Stiles gasped as our father hit the ground, followed by the youngest Stilinski.
“Dad, are you alright?” Stiles and I rushed to his side, both stepping over Gabe.
He grunted as we helped him sit up. “I’m okay. Gabriel, what the hell was that?”
Said brunet flinched at the mention of his full name.
“Sorry Dad.” He mumbled, scratching the back of his neck.
“I don’t know what you kids are doing, but I’ve got to go. I’ll be back by morning.” He groaned as Stiles helped him to his feet.
Gabe sighed as I pulled him up, ruffling his hair.
“What? Why?”
“Work calls, kiddos.” A pat to each of our heads.
“Dad, come on. Can’t it wait? Stiles and I play tomorrow and we won't be able to go out afterward if you're too tired.”
Dad placed a reassuring hand on Gabe’s shoulder and squeezed.
“Being the sheriff isn’t easy, Gabe. I’ll be back in time to see you guys tomorrow morning.”
Gabe huffed as Dad walked to the closet at the front, pulling on his jacket.
“Lupus, can you order some pizza for tonight?” He called.
I wandered over to him, shuffling on my feet.
“Sure.”
“I’m sorry, kids. I promise we’ll go out some other night.”
Stiles dropped his head onto mine. Gabe chewed at his cheek and nodded. Our dad grabbed the keys before opening the door.
“Oh, and kids?”
He turned back to see us. Our three heads snapped up, eyes wide.
“Make sure you go to bed at a reasonable time.”
He shut the door without another word.
Stiles let out a small sigh and Gabe let his shoulders slouch. He looked up at Stiles before looking down at me.
“What kind of pizza do you want?”
I only looked up at Stiles, who was staring holes into the door. “I wonder where he went.”
I grinned.
“We’re not getting pizza, are we?” Gabe asked as Stiles grabbed the keys to the jeep.
                                                          ***
“Wait, half of the body?” Gabe leaned forward, looking from Stiles to me.
“Yeah, they only found half of a girl’s body. Are you gonna make her say it again?” Stiles looked at him in the rearview mirror.
Gabe rolled his eyes. I ruffled his hair. He pulled back and fixed it before leaning forward again. I went to mess with it again, only to have him catch my hand and hold it.
“Are we stopping by to pick up Scott?” I asked.
“Yeah. You guys wait in the car.” Stiles said as we pulled to a stop in front of Scott’s house.
“Fine.” Gabe scoffed as Stiles left.
I climbed over to the back, leaning against my baby brother.
“Isn’t Dad gonna yell at us for this?” He asked, looking down towards me.
“Only if we get caught. And if we do, we’ll blame it on Sti.”
“Like hell you will.” Stiles popped back into the car, Scott sitting shotgun.
“Hi guys.”
“Hey Scott.” We spoke in unison.
“Do you wanna get Isaac, Lup?”
“No, I don't wanna drag him into this mess in case we get caught.”
Stiles scoffed. “We’re not gonna get caught. But fine.”
Stiles drove off to the woods. The ride consisted of Stiles making jokes and Scott rolling his eyes while Gabe and I stared out the windows in the backseat. Stiles parked in front of the sign stating that entering the preserve at night was forbidden.
“We're seriously doing this?” Scott jumped to the ground before helping me out of the car, Gabe following behind me.
Stiles grinned as Gabe shut the passenger door. “You're the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town.”
Gabe sighed and shoved his hands in his jean pockets as we walked past the sign. Stiles turned his phone’s flashlight on.
“So what did we drag you from tonight, Scott?” I fell into step with him, my brothers ahead of us.
“I was trying to get a good night's sleep before practice tomorrow.” He answered.
“Right, 'cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort.” Stiles called over his shoulder.
“No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line.” Scott said proudly.
“Hey, that's the spirit. Everyone should have a dream, even a pathetically unrealistic one.” Stiles called again.
I rolled my eyes and patted Scott’s shoulder, “I’m sure you’ll do just fine.”
Scott smiled before speaking, “Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?”
“Huh! We didn't even think about that.”
“And, uh, what if whoever killed the body is still out here?”
“Also something we didn't think about.” I chewed at the inside of my lip as we climbed over a small hill, Gabe stumbling over his feet and muttering a curse.
“It's… comforting to know you've planned this out with your usual attention to detail.”
“I know.” Another sarcastic grin from Stiles as I helped Gabe steady himself.
Scott stopped to take a puff of his inhaler. I stayed behind with him as Stiles kept walking.
“Maybe the severe asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight, huh?”
Gabe noticed something and threw himself at the ground. I pulled Scott down as I dropped too. I realized there were officers right in front of us. Stiles got to his feet and started to run.
“Wait, come on!” He called after us.
Gabe and I exchanged looks before going after our brother, leaving Scott behind. We could get caught and be fine, but if Scott’s mom found out, his life would be over.
“Stiles! Wait up! Gabe! Lupus!”
Stiles was still ahead, Scott somewhere behind us once on his feet. One of the policemen shone a flashlight at Stiles, telling him to stop where he was. I yanked Gabe to hide behind a tree with me, Scott having the same idea a few yards back. I heard Dad speak as he approached his only visible child.
“Hang on, hang on. This little delinquent belongs to me.”
“Dad, how are you doing?”
I heard Stiles’s nervous chuckle and stifled a giggle.
“So, do you, uh, listen in to all of my phone calls?”
“No, heh. Not the boring ones.”
“Now, where’re your usual partners in crime?”
Before Stiles could mention Scott, Gabe and I left our spot, Gabe dragging me to our father.
“I told them it wasn’t a good idea.”
“So it was you who listened in?” He shone the flashlight at me.
I only glared at Gabe, hopefully giving Scott time to get away undiscovered.
It didn’t work. “Where’re the other ones?”
I knew Scott was probably still behind the tree.
“Scott didn’t come along.” Gabe started.
“Yeah, he wanted to get a good night's sleep for tomorrow’s game. I didn't grab Isaac. He's probably at home.” I added, not lying.
“It’s just the three of us in the woods.” Stiles said.
“Alone.” We smiled.
Dad took his light off me and aimed it towards the woods.
“Scott, you out there? Scott? Isaac?”
No answer, not even leaves shifting around. The three of us bit back grins, knowing Scott was still there, just well hidden.
Our father sighed and looked back to his three children before staring me down. I faltered and gave a nervous smile.
“Well, young lady, I'm gonna walk you and your brothers back to the car. And you and I are gonna have a conversation about something called invasion of privacy.”
I knew I was in for it, but hey, at least Scott got away and we had fun. Gabe managed to lighten the mood as our dad walked us back to the Jeep, making jokes about how tomorrow was gonna go for him and Stiles. We piled into the car, Gabe in the back, Stiles driving, and me in the passenger seat.
“Be careful driving home, okay kids?”
The three of us nodded.
“Bye Dad.”
He sighed and shook his head slightly.
“Bye.”
I rolled my window up as Stiles drove away. Gabe sighed as our dad fell out of sight.
“How’s Scott gonna get home?” He asked.
Stiles only shrugged. “He’ll be fine.”
                                                         ***
I rolled my eyes and held the door of the Jeep open for Gabe as he got out. Jackson had just hit Scott with the door of his overpriced car and was now scowling at him. We walked towards Scott and returned Danny’s wave. Jackson smiled at me but I rolled my eyes again. Everyone on the lacrosse team wanted to be good with the manager, even the captain.
Scott had called us last night to let us know that he had lost his inhaler and had been bitten by some animal when he went to look for it.
“Okay, let’s see this thing.” Gabe nudged Scott, eager to investigate the wound.
He had always had an affinity for things like that, and he was probably gonna be some sort of first responder when he grew up.
“Ooh!” Stiles grimaced, having always hated the sight of such grotesque things.
“Yeah.”
Gabe reached out to peel back the bandaging, but Scott moved back.
“Whoa! It was too dark to see much, but I'm pretty sure it was a wolf.” Scott shouldered his bag and we started walking.
“A wolf bit you?” I raised an eyebrow.
“Uh huh.”
“No, not a chance.” I shook my head, the only one of the four without a lacrosse stick.
“I heard a wolf howling.”
“No, you didn't.” I shook my head again.
Scott scoffed, “What do you mean, no, I didn't? How do you know what I heard?”
“Because California doesn't have wolves, okay? Not in like 60 years.” I laughed at him.
“Really?”
We stopped walking, “Yes, really. There are no wolves in California.”
Scott shoved his free hand into his jean pocket. “All right, well, if you don't believe me about the wolf, then you're definitely not gonna believe me about when I tell you I found the body.”
“You… are you kidding me?” Gabe jumped in.
Scott shook his head, “No, man, I wish. I'm gonna have nightmares for a month.”
“Oh, god, that is freakin' awesome. I mean, this is seriously gonna be the best thing that's happened to this town since-” Stiles’s attention turned to the popular girl as she walked towards us. “Since the birth of Lydia Martin. Hey, Lydia-”
She walked right past us without even glancing at him.
“You look…like you're gonna ignore me.” He turned to Scott. “You're the cause of this, you know.”
“Uh huh.” Scott smiled.
“Dragging me down to your nerd depths. I'm a nerd by association.”
The bell rang and we started walking again.
“I've been scarlet-nerded by you.” Stiles accused Scott.
                                                         ***
Stiles took an empty seat in the back and I sat behind Gabe, next to Stiles. Scott took the only free seat near the middle of the room.
Mr. Kent started writing on the board as the late bell rang.
“As you all know, there was a body found in the woods last night.”
Scott looked at us, and I grinned softly while Stiles winked and Gabe shook his head. Isaac wasn’t in class yet, which made me a little sad, because I would’ve liked to see his reaction to the news.
“And I am sure your eager little minds are coming up with various macabre scenarios as to what happened.”
Multiple girls were preoccupied with their lip gloss and passing notes.
“But I am here to tell you that the police have a suspect in custody,”
Scott glanced at us, but Stiles only shrugged.
“Which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus which is on your desk outlining this semester.”
A bunch of kids groaned as we started to flip through the pages. I noticed Scott flinch out of the corner of my eye, but I shrugged it off. Maybe he got a paper cut. He looked around frantically. I caught his eye, asking if he was okay. He only waved my attention off, focusing on something through the window. I stared at him, confused by his strange behavior.
“Is there a problem, Miss Stilinski?” Mr. Kent asked.
A few people laughed. I sighed and mumbled a response, redirecting my attention to the papers on my desk. My eyes skimmed over the syllabus, but I didn’t really read it. I kept my attention on Scott, now curious as to why he was acting so weird. His eyes trailed from outside to the door, just as it opened. The vice principal walked in, followed by a beautiful tall girl with dark curls that cascaded down her shoulders.
“Class, this is our new student, Allison Argent. Please do your best to make her feel welcome.”
Scott’s eyes followed her as she took a seat behind him. He smiled to himself as he turned around, handing her a pen with puppy dog eyes. She seemed confused at first, but she finally accepted it was a grateful smile before thanking him. Stiles and Gabe were oblivious to the situation as Mr. Kent spoke, “We'll begin with Kafka's Metamorphosis, on page 133.”
I rolled my eyes just as the door opened. I looked up to meet blue eyes and a head of curls. I grinned as he took the empty seat next to me.
“Who's that girl?” He pointed with his pencil, opening his textbook.
I grinned and leaned over, flipping his book open to the right page.
“New. Name’s Allison. She's already got Scott wrapped around her little finger.”
Isaac grumbled and stared wearily at them as Mr. Kent gave us a lecture on today's topic.
                                                         ***
The hallway quickly filled up with people as the bell rang, and I clung to Gabe’s side in an attempt to not get separated. Isaac patted my head as a farewell before venturing off to his locker. We made our way to our own lockers, Stiles close behind. Scott was already by his own locker, backpack slung over his shoulder as he stared across the hallway. Gabe followed his line of sight and scoffed as he opened up his locker.
“Can someone tell me how new girl is here all of five minutes, and she's already hanging out with Lydia's clique?”
“Because she's hot. Beautiful people herd together.” Stiles said as he popped his locker open.
Jackson joined Allison and Lydia, which made Stiles glance away. He was in love with Lydia, and Lydia was going out with Jackson. Gabe tossed his books into his bag before grabbing his lacrosse stick. Gabe and Stiles began to argue over something, probably who was going to make first line and who wasn’t. Gabe had always been better at sports than Stiles, but Stiles was faster in a classroom sense. I grabbed the books I needed and slid them into my bag, slamming my locker shut. Scott jumped, eyes wide as he looked in my direction.
“Scott, are you alright?”
He snapped out of whatever trance was holding him and nodded as he watched Allison get dragged away by Lydia.
                                                         ***
“But if you play, I'll have no one to talk to on the bench. Are you really gonna do that to your best friend?” Stiles wheezed as we ran to catch up to Scott.
“I can't sit out again.” He tossed his bags onto the bleacher. “My whole life is sitting on the sidelines. This season, I make first line.”
Gabe tossed his bag by my feet before making his way onto the field. Stiles sat down next to me, already knowing that he had no chance of playing. Scott was smiling at something behind us, but I didn’t feel like turning around. My guess was that it was Allison.
Coach Finstock came up to me and my brother.
“I want McCall on goal today.”
“Coach, he’s never played.” I answered, confused.
“I know, that’s the point.”
I nodded and marked it down. “Okay.”
Coach went to Scott, shouting his name before tossing him a goalie’s stick.
“You're on goal.”
“I've never played.” Scott brought up the same point I had before.
“I know. Scoring some shots will give the boys a confidence boost. It's a first day back thing. Get 'em energized, fired up!”
“What about me?” Scott asked.
“Try not to take any in the face.” He slapped Scott’s cheek lightly before turning to the rest of the team and clapping his hands. “Let's go! Come on!”
I sighed and got comfortable on the bleachers as Coach signaled for me to blow the whistle. My lips instantly dropped it when I realized that Scott was groaning and holding his head, his stick on the ground in front of him. Isaac stepped out of his place in line to shoot me a look, probably about Scott. I dodged his glance. Something was wrong. It didn’t stop Jackson from stepping up and launching his ball at the goal. Scott, unfocused and disoriented, took it to the face. I groaned as he fell backwards. Everyone, Coach included and Isaac, my brothers, and I excluded, laughed.
“Hey, way to catch with your face, McCall!” Jackson called out through his laughter.
It stopped when I glared at them. Stiles shook his head at Scott as they made eye contact. Scott got up and brushed himself off, picking up his stick and moving his head from side to side. He nodded at Gabe, who let out a short breath before running and aiming for the goal, right behind Scott. Scott caught the ball in his stick and nodded to himself. The guy behind Gabe seemed impressed that Scott McCall had actually caught a ball.
Stiles blinked as he realized what had happened.
“Yeah!” He called out.
Coach blinked twice, obviously confused. Gabe stepped aside to let the boy behind him shoot, eyeing me. Scott had terrible hand-eye coordination, we all knew that. He stopped shot after shot, surprising us all. I had long since abandoned my clipboard and pen, now focused on Scott’s newfound skill.
A boy stepped up to go next, but Jackson shoved him back using his lacrosse stick, practically baring his teeth and growling as he ran towards him, making his shot. Scott caught it with little to no effort. Stiles jumped to his feet, flailing slightly. Everyone on the bleachers clapped and Gabe and I grinned, happy that somebody had finally managed to be better than Jackson. I noticed that even Lydia was cheering for Scott, which only added to Jackson’s anger towards him.
“That is my best friend!” Stiles shouted.
I saw Jackson shoot Lydia a stare, and she only responded with a face before slowly looking back to Scott, her smile reappearing. Coach seemed impressed and I made sure to make a note of how Scott McCall had managed to stop Jackson Whittemore’s shot.
                                                         ***
The boys and I were in the woods, hastily going back to the spot Scott had been attacked. Stiles and Scott let the bottom of their pants get wet, but Gabe and I decided to jump the final stretch instead. I landed on solid ground, and Gabe slipped, getting one foot stuck in the creek. Scott turned and pulled him out without a problem.
“I don't…I don't know what it was.” Scott continued the conversation he and Stiles had been having earlier. “It was like I had all the time in the world to catch the ball. And that's not the only weird thing. I, I can…hear stuff I shouldn't be able to hear. Smell things.”
“Smell things? Like what?” I joined in, popping my head between their shoulders.
“Like the mint mojito gum in someone’s pocket.”
Gabe and I exchanged glances. My leggings didn’t have pockets, and his were empty. We both looked to Stiles.
He shoved his hand into his jean pocket. “I don't even have any mint…mojito… ”
He stopped mid sentence as he pulled the piece of gum from his pocket. I snorted and turned back to Scott.
“So all this started with a bite.” I said.
“What if it's like an infection, like, my body's flooding with adrenaline before I go into shock or something?” Scott started to panic.
I grinned at Stiles. You know what? I actually think we've heard of this.”
“We have?” Gabe raised his eyebrows.
I elbowed him.
“It's a specific kind of infection.” Stiles finished.
“Are you serious?” Scott stopped walking.
“Yeah. Yeah, I think it's called lycanthropy.”
“What's that? Is that bad?”
“Oh, yeah, it's the worst. But only once a month.” Stiles explained.
“Once a month?” Scott was still frantic.
Gabe rolled his eyes as Stiles spoke again.
“Mm hmm. On the night of the full moon.”
Stiles and I howled at the same time. Scott pushed Stiles back by the chest and flicked my forehead.
I laughed and followed after him as he started walking again. “Hey, you’re the one that heard wolves howling.”
“Hey, there could be something seriously wrong with me.” Scott exclaimed.
“I know! You're a werewolf!” Stiles let out a little growl.
Scott ignored him and kept walking. I trailed after him, Gabe at my side.
“Okay, obviously I'm kidding. But if you see me in shop class trying to melt all the silver I can find, it's 'cause Friday's a full moon.” Stiles said, hands on his hips.
Scott stopped walking and Stiles ran straight into me. I pushed him back as Scott spoke.
“No, I…I could have sworn this was it. I saw the body, the deer came running. I dropped my inhaler.”
He bent down, searching through the leaves and sticks for his inhaler. I bent down near him and helped him look.
“Maybe the killer moved the body.” Gabe offered, toeing through leaves to see if he could find the inhaler without using his hands.
Gabe hated bugs.
“If he did, I hope he left my inhaler. Those things are like 80 bucks.”
Stiles suddenly hit Scott’s shoulder and adjusted himself. Gabe and I popped to our feet, followed by our hypothetical werewolf.
There was a man a couple of years older than us standing not too far. Black leather jacket, black pants, black shirt, black shoes, black hair, glowing pale skin. He walked towards us, looking upset.
“What’re you doing here?”
None of us spoke. Stiles scratched at his buzz cut hair.
“Huh? This is private property.” He spoke again.
I snuck a glance at Stiles, who was staring at the man, mouth open. Gabe must’ve noticed too, because he was the first to speak up.
“Uh, sorry, man, we didn't know.”
“Yeah, we were just looking for something, but…” Scott trailed off.
The man’s expression turned expectant, as if he wanted to know what we were looking for. It hit me then that he looked familiar, and it was only because our father had worked a case in which his whole family was involved.
Scott shook his head, “Uh, forget it. Uhm.” He just shook his head again.
Derek Hale looked Scott straight in the eye and tossed him his inhaler. Scott caught it. Derek turned tail and left.
Stiles stared after him. Gabe sighed and I let out a breath.
“All right, come on, I gotta get to work.” Scott nudged Stiles, who snapped back into attention, his hand smacking at Scott’s chest.
“Dude. That was Derek Hale. You remember, right? He's only like a few years older than us.”
“Remember what?” Scott looked confused.
“His family. They all burned to death in a fire, like, ten years ago.” I jumped in.
“I wonder what he's doing back.” Gabe mumbled.
Stiles scoffed, shaking his head before walking off. “Come on.”
                                                         ***
“Stilinski!”
Stiles, Gabe, and I turned at the sound of Coach’s harsh call. He rolled his eyes and pointed at me. I patted my brothers’ shoulders before running over to Coach.
“What’s up?”
“Go find Jackson. This thing starts in five and I still haven’t seen him. Find McCall while you’re at it, too.”
I nodded, “Yes Coach.”
I turned back to my brothers and rolled my eyes. “Ill be back in a few.”
They nodded and made their ways to their respective spots. Stiles on the bleachers, Gabe on the field. I went back inside the school, going for Scott first. I found him at his locker, but before I got to him, Jackson came up and slammed his locker shut.
“All right, little man. How 'bout you tell me where you're getting your juice?”
I closed my eyes and bit my tongue. Whatever was happening to Scott was going to get him in some very big trouble.
“What?” Scott shook his head.
His eyes darted my way, like he somehow knew I was there. But then his attention went back to Jackson.
“Where are you getting your juice?” Jackson left a pause between each word, speaking as if Scott were stupid.
Scott looked confused, his eyes squinting before he looked back at Jackson. “My mom does all the grocery shopping.”
I bit my tongue again, trying not to laugh. I knew he was being sincerely pure and not sarcastic, but it was funny.
“Now, listen, McCall. You're gonna tell me exactly what it is and who you're buying it from, because there's no way in hell you're out there kicking ass on the field like that without some sort of chemical boost.”
Realization dawned on the hypothetical werewolf, “Oh, you mean steroids.” His eyes danced around Jackson’s figure. “Are you on steroids?”
Jackson shoved him up against the lockers. “What the hell is going on with you, McCall?”
I wanted to jump in, but I wanted to know what was up with Scott. He told us less and less about what happened every day, so maybe something he would let slip here would help.
“What's going on with me? You really wanna know? Well, so would I! Because I can see, hear, and smell things that I shouldn't be able to see, hear, and smell. I do things that should be impossible, I'm sleepwalking three miles into the middle of the woods, and I'm pretty much convinced that I'm totally out of my fucking mind!”
Jackson blinked a few times, confused. Scott let out a huge breath and leaned his head back against the locker.
“You think you're funny. Don't you, McCall? I know you're hiding something. I'm gonna find out what it is. I don't care how long it takes.” He punched the locker, right by Scott’s head.
Scott flinched. I stepped into sight, my teeth clenched and my eyes dead on Jackson. He scratched the back of his neck, eyeing me.
“Hi, Lupus.”
“Get your ass to the field. Coach’s been looking for you.” I jabbed my thumb over my shoulder and he ran off.
I went up to Scott.
“Are you alright?”
Scott nodded, obviously shaken. “How much of that did you hear?”
I grabbed his shoulders. “All of it. Are you sure you’re okay?”
Scott forced his breathing to calm and nodded again, this time more genuinely. “Yeah, I’m alright.”
I nodded. “Alright, let’s get you on the field so you can make first line.”
We ran out of the school, Scott speeding up so he wouldn’t be late. I ran after him, catching Stiles and Gabe eavesdropping on our dad’s phone conversation. I yanked Gabe by the back of his jersey.
“Aw, come on. I was listening to that.”
“You’re playing, now come on.”
He sighed but picked up his lacrosse stick as he walked over to Scott. Stiles came sprinting, his voice high. “Scott! Scott, wait up.”
“Stiles, I'm playing the first elimination, man. Can it wait?”
Stiles grabbed ahold of his shoulders, “Just hold on, okay? I overheard my dad on the phone. The fiber analysis came back from the lab in L.A. They found animal hairs on the body from the woods!”
Scott pulled free. “Stiles, I gotta go.”
Stiles called after him as he ran out onto the field. Gabe quickly followed suit. I sighed at Stiles and started walking off to join the team.
“Wait, no! Lu! You're not gonna believe what the animal was!”
I sighed again and turned to him, eyebrows raised expectantly.
“It was a wolf.”
I shook my head in order to clear it. I patted his cheek as Coach blew the whistle.
“Let's go! Gather round! Bring it in, come on! Come on!”
Scott put his hand up in the air. I followed his line of sight to Allison Argent.
“Got a question, McCall?”
“What?” Scott snapped out of his reverie, now back on Earth.
“You raised your hand. You have a question?”
“Oh. No. I was just, uh…Nothing. Sorry.” He averted his eyes to the ground.
“Okay. You know how this goes. If you don't make the cut, you're most likely sitting on the bench for the rest of the season.” He patted Stiles on the arm.
“You make the cut, you play. Your parents are proud. Your girlfriend loves ya!” He grabbed hold of Cole’s helmet and shook his head from side to side. Ouch.
“Huh? Everything else is, uh. Cream cheese! Now, get out there and show me whatcha got! Come on!”
Jackson screamed first, trying to pump the boys up. “Let's go! Let's go!”
Jackson and Scott ended up on opposite teams, against my pleading. Of course, as soon as Scott got the ball, Jackson knocked him flat on his back. Scott laid for a few seconds, angry. He sat up quickly however, ready to kick Jackson’s ass. Scott got the ball first, leaving Jackson in his dust. He dodged every defensive attack, finishing with a backflip and a perfect shot.
Everyone on the bleachers stared. They slowly began to clap with Stiles, and the gentle clap reached roaring cheers. The rest of the team ran up to him, congratulating him. Gabe hung behind, glancing at a pissed off Jackson before looking at me.
Coach blew the whistle. “McCall! Get over here! What in God's name was that? This is a lacrosse field. What, are you trying out for the gymnastics team?”
“No, Coach.”
“What the hell was that?”
“I don't know. I…I was just trying to make the shot.”
“Yeah, well, you made the shot. And guess what? You're startin', buddy. You made first line. Come on!” He slapped Scott’s cheek before running off.
Everyone in the crowd applauded again, standing. Stiles looked from Gabe to Scott to me, a worried look on his face. I patted his leg.
“I know.”
Gabe caught my eye and mouthed something at me. He had to repeat it once or twice, but I soon understood what he was saying.
That’s not normal.
I shook my head. He was right. Whatever was happening was anything but normal.
                                                         ***
Gabe was sleeping on his bed, laptop still on his lap as his head fell back against the headboard. Stiles was sitting at his own desk, printing out article after article he thought could be useful. I was sitting on Stiles’s bed, a mythology book open in my lap. I had highlighters and sticky notes, all thanks to Stiles. I was working on wolfsbane while he tackled lycanthropy. Gabe had been on silver before he had fallen asleep. There was a knock on the door. I shoved my book off to the side and made a leap for Gabe’s bed, slamming his laptop shut. Stiles closed his at the same time the door opened. I fell next to Gabe, expecting our dad.
It was Scott.
I sighed and Gabe grumbled, now awake.
“Get in. You gotta see this thing. We've been up all night reading. Websites, books. All this information.”
“How much Adderall have you had today?” Stiles asked with a small smile.
“A lot. Doesn't matter. Okay, just listen.”
Scott sat down on Stiles’s bed, tossing his bag aside. Gabe sat up straight, now listening to what Stiles was saying. I sat at the foot of his bed.
“Oh, is this about the body? Did they find out who did it?” Scott asked.
I shook my head. “No, they're still questioning people.”
“Even Derek Hale.” A grumpy Gabe added from behind me.
“Oh, the guy in the woods that we saw the other day.”
“Yeah! Yes. But that's not it, okay?” He flailed his hands.
Scott was still smiling. “What, then?”
“Remember the joke from the other day?” He attempted a laugh, but only a sad wheeze came out. “Not a joke anymore.” Lines appeared on his forehead, but they only made him look younger.
We were only 16. If any of this was real, why did we have to deal with it? We were just kids.
I jumped in for Stiles. “The wolf. The bite in the woods. We started doing all this reading. Do you even know why a wolf howls?”
“Should I?”
Stiles jumped to his feet, clearly taking over again. “It's a signal, okay? When a wolf's alone, it howls to signal its location to the rest of the pack. So if you heard a wolf howling, that means others could have been nearby. Maybe even a whole pack of 'em.”
Scott leaned forward, and I couldn’t differentiate sarcasm from genuine wonder. “A whole pack of wolves?”
“No!” Stiles paused. “Werewolves.”
“Are you seriously wasting my time with this? You know I'm picking up Allison in an hour.” He picked up his bag and slung it over his shoulder.
Stiles reached out and stopped him, hand on his shoulder. “We saw you on the field today, Scott. Okay, what you did wasn't just amazing, all right? It was impossible.”
Scott looked hurt, maybe even a bit taken aback. “Yeah, so I made a good shot.”
“No, you made an incredible shot, I mean…” He took the backpack from Scott and threw it back onto the bed. The way you moved, your speed, your reflexes. Y'know, People can't just suddenly do that overnight.” Stiles said.
Scott sighed, looking down at the ground.
“There’s also the vision and the senses, and don't even think we didn't notice that you don't need your inhaler anymore.” I piped up.
I get the feeling Gabe would’ve added something if he hadn’t been so tired.
“Okay! Guys, I can't think about this now. We'll talk tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?! What? No! The full moon's tonight. Don't you get it?” Stiles grew more frantic.
“What are you trying to do? I just made first line. I got a date with a girl who I can't believe wants to go out with me,” Scott got closer to Stiles, who sat down at his desk again, “And everything in my life is somehow perfect. Why are you trying to ruin it?”
Stiles scoffed and pulled out a paper. “We’re trying to help. You're cursed, Scott. You know, and it's not just the moon will cause you to physically change. It also just so happens to be when your bloodlust will be at its peak.” Stiles spoke nonchalantly.
“Bloodlust?” Scott repeated, incredulous.
“Yeah, your urge to kill.” Stiles shrugged.
“I'm already starting to feel an urge to kill, Stiles.”
Gabe scrambled for something on his desk. “You gotta hear this.” He opened a book and took his seat behind me once more.
“‘The change can be caused by anger or anything that raises your pulse.’ All right? We haven't seen anyone raise your pulse like Allison does.”
I sighed. “Scott, it pains me to say this, but you’ve gotta cancel this date.”
“I'm gonna call her right now.” Stiles said, taking Scott’s phone from his bag.
“What are you doing?” Scott let out a high pitched complaint.
“I'm canceling the date.” Stiles went to drop back into his chair.
“No, give it to me!”
I felt the tension rise seconds before Scott pinned him against the wall, fist aiming for Stiles’s face. I leapt up as Scott redirected his fist for Stiles’s desk chair. It fell flying backward. Gabe pulled me back to him, all eyes on Scott.
“I'm sorry. I…I gotta go get ready for that party. Guys, I'm sorry.” He shouldered his bag before quickly leaving the room.
Stiles thumped his head against the wall. I ran to him, pulling him into a tight hug. He didn’t resist. Gabe pulled the chair up, staring at it. Stiles tensed up.
“What’s wrong?” I pulled back but my hands didn’t leave Stiles’s.
Gabe angled the chair towards us so I could get a better view. The back of the chair had four long scratch marks.
I sighed. Stiles was right.
                                                         ***
I noticed Scott near the pool, struggling to keep upright.
“Ise.” I cut the blond off. “Just give me a second. “
I ran over to Scott, hands on his back. I tried to steady him and waved my hand in front of his face.
“Scott, are you okay?”
He didn’t seem to hear me. I followed him into the house, dragging Gabe along with me to make sure he didn’t fall flat on his face.
We brushed past Stiles, who instantly noticed something was wrong with his best friend. “Yo, Scott, you good?”
Another girl saw it too, “Are you okay?”
Scott kept going, in his own world.
Stiles shrugged his “nothing we can do now” shrug. I sighed and followed after Scott. Allison came behind me, watching with me as he got into his car and took off. I ran off to get Stiles, only to run straight into Gabe.
“Where’s he going?”
I pushed past him, dragging him along. “I don’t know.”
“Are we getting Stiles to drive us to his house?”
“Yeah.” I looked around, trying to find him in the crowd of people.
“Lu! Gabe!” He was standing near the snacks.
“We need to go.”
“Now?”
“Now.” Gabe took the cup from his hand and put it down on the table.
“Hey!” Stiles whined as we pulled him out to the street.
“Scott left. I said.
“Uh, guys?” Gabe stopped cold.
I looked up at him. He pointed. Allison was getting into a black car. I realized Derek Hale was in the driver's seat. He sent a wink our way before driving away.
“Okay, let’s go.” Stiles tugged at the hood of my jacket.
Gabe climbed over the seat and into the back. Stiles started the car up before my door was closed.
                                                         ***
“Where’s the spare key?” Gabe asked as he put the rug back in place.
I looked over at Stiles, who produced the key from his pocket, a shy smile on his face. He unlocked the door and ran up the stairs, Gabe and I following. Stiles knocked on Scott’s door.
“Go away.”
“Scott, it's us.” Stiles pressed his forehead against the door.
The door opened slightly, but it didn’t budge any more against Stiles’s weight.
“Let us in, Scott.” I tried as Gabe and I joined Stiles against the door.
“We can help.” Gabe pleaded.
“No! Listen, you guys gotta find Allison.”
“She's fine, all right? We saw her get a ride from the party.” Gabe ran a hand through his hair.
“She's, she's totally fine, all right?”
“No, I think I know who it is.” Scott sounded like he was in pain, but he was obviously strong enough to hold the door back against the three of us, who were pushing on it.
“You just let us in. We can try-”
“It's Derek! Derek Hale is the werewolf! He's the one that bit me. He's the one that killed the girl in the woods.”
My blood ran cold and the three of us stopped struggling with the door. Stiles looked at me, then at Gabe.
“Scott. Derek's the one who drove Allison from the party.”
There was a second of silence before the door slammed shut. Stiles instantly tried the knob, but it was locked.
“Scott!” I slammed my hand against the door.
There was no noise. Gabe sighed.
“Guys, he’s not gonna let us in.”
I sighed and shook my head.
“Yeah, you’re right. Let’s just go check on Allison.” I ushered the boys down the stairs.
                                                         ***
Stiles pulled into the Argent driveway. We scrambled out of the car. I knocked on the door. Stiles pushed in front of me just as her mother opened the door.
“Hi, Mrs. Argent. Um… you have no idea who we are. We’re friends of your daughter. Uh, look…this is gonna sound kind of crazy, um…really crazy, actually. You know what? Crazy doesn't even describe-” Stiles ran his hand over his hair.
“Allison! It's for you.” Mrs. Argent cut him off.
Allison appeared on the stop of the stairs, a look of disappointment on her face. I felt Gabe let out a breath. I smiled softly and waved. She waved back before making her way down the stairs. She said something to her mother, who left.
“What’s up, guys?”
“Uh…” Stiles licked his lips before looking down to me.
“We just wanted to make sure you got home safe.”
“Right. Because Scott left me stranded.” She folded her arms across her chest.
“Which was totally not cool. That’s why we wanted to make sure you were okay.” Gabe grinned.
That seemed to get a genuine smile from her.
“Yeah, I’m okay. Thanks for checking in, you guys.”
The three of us nodded, similar smiles gracing our unsimilar faces.
“Do you wanna come in?” She moved back, opening the door further, giving us access to the house.
“Oh. Thank you, but we can’t.” I gave her a sympathetic smile.
“You have to go check up on Scott now?” She put one hand in her pocket.
We all nodded.
“Sorry.” Stiles mumbled.
“It’s okay.”
“Um, we should go.” Gabe backed down the steps first.
She nodded, wished us luck, and closed the door.
                                                         ***
“There he is.” Gabe leaned forward and pointed.
Stiles stopped the car next to a shirtless Scott. I climbed over into the back as Scott got into the passenger seat, looking like a lost puppy.
“You were gone all night.” I rested my chin on the seat, looking at the not-so-hypothetical werewolf.
Scott sighed, clutching at his arm. Gabe took his jacket off and handed it to him.
He gratefully accepted it and slid it on. “You know what actually worries me the most?”
Stiles looked at me in the rearview mirror before turning his eyes back to the road.
“If you say Allison, I'm gonna punch you in the head.”
I glanced at Scott, who looked like he was suffering.
“She probably hates me now.”
“Ugh. I doubt that. But you might want to come up with a pretty amazing apology.” I patted his shoulder.
Gabe jumped into the conversation, “Or, you know, you could just…tell her the truth.”
“And revel in the awesomeness of the fact that you're a fucking werewolf.” Stiles cut him off.
Scott and I glared at him.
“Okay, bad idea. Hey, we'll get through this. Come on, if we have to, we'll chain you up ourselves on full moon nights and I’ll feed you live mice. I had a boa once. I could do it.”
Scott scoffed a laugh, and Stiles grinned. I smiled and leaned back into the seat.
                                                         ***
“Lup! Hey!” Isaac ran to my side.
“Hey!” I pulled him in for a hug, my eyes still on Scott, who was talking to Allison.
“I haven’t talked to you all day. What’s up?” He sat next to me on the steps.
“Not much. What’s up with you?”
He followed my line of sight.
“Oh, you’re watching over your new star?”
I rolled my eyes and looked at the blond next to me.
“Speaking of Scott, what happened to him at the party the other day?” He looked back to Scott, who was leaning in for a kiss with Allison.
“He got sick.” I answered.
“New girl still got him?” He asked, a bit of distaste in his voice.
“Look for yourself.” I leaned against him, looking at the not-so-hypothetical werewolf and the new girl.
Before they could kiss, Allison ran off into a red SUV. Scott turned and started to walk our way. He stopped in his tracks before turning around and looking at the man who was presumably Allison’s father. Scott waved meekly, and the man smiled back.
Scott turned back, a look of fear and confusion on his face.
“Lupus?” A pair of fingers snapped in front of my face.
I turned, looking back at Isaac.
“What’s wrong?”
Isaac shook his head in response and got to his feet, holding a hand out to help me.
“We gotta get to practice. Come on.”

Weekly Werewolf Sitcom: Grocery List God
Part of my ridiculous fluffy pack-as-family, everyone-lives-nobody-dies AU called Weekly Werewolf Sitcom. They can all be read as standalones, because they’re all just fluff with no hurt.
Grocery List God on AO3
Tags/Warnings: AU - Everybody Lives/Nobody Dies, Pack Mom Stiles, Pack Dad Derek, Derek is a Good Alpha, Stiles is 18, Shenanigans, Unconventional Dirty Talk That Isn’t Really Dirty, Banter
Notes: Inspired by me attempting to grocery shop this morning - I thought about writing this instead of focusing on all of the insane people and noise around me at Wal-Mart after church on a Sunday.
“Why the holy hell are you all here?” Stiles asks when he and Derek climb out the Jeep to find half the pack waiting in the grocery store parking lot. “Oh no. No, nuh-uh, we’re not doing this. Get back in your cars and go away, you will eat what we buy, and you will be happy with it.” He’s pretty sure that, although Derek is doing the stoic thing with his face, his eyes are smiling behind his sunglasses.
In front of them, leaning on the bumpers of two different cars and looking like a ragtag group of hooligans out for trouble, are Jackson, Scott, Erica, Boyd, and Isaac. Jackson seems annoyed as ever, scowling with his arms crossed next to Boyd. It’s a tactical move, Stiles knows, because Boyd is the calmest of the bunch - Isaac, Scott, and Erica can easily build on each other and end up doing headache-inducing things like racing IKEA carts or climbing trees. Boyd won’t usually talk them out of it like Allison or Lydia will, instead opting to watch with blatant but quiet amusement, but by standing next to Boyd, Jackson is less likely to get goaded into doing something dangerous or dumb.
Scott, Erica, and Isaac all turn pleading eyes on Stiles. “Stiles,” Scott says, apparently having been previously appointed as their spokesperson. “It’s Sunday! We always hang out on Sundays. This way we can hang out and be productive at the same time.”
“Uh-huh.” Stiles doesn’t buy this one bit. “You just want to come grocery shopping with us because you think you’ll get a say in what goes in the cart. You won’t get a say, Scott, we have a list.” He gives the paper in his hand an emphatic shake. “We are not deviating from the list. So go home, or to the loft, or go work on the house, or something far away from here.” He makes a shooing motion, and steels himself against three matching puppy dog faces (plus Boyd’s grin and Jackson’s scowl).
What he absolutely isn’t prepared for, though, is for those three puppy dog faces (and Boyd’s grin and Jackson’s scowl) to shift from him to Derek. He barely has time to realize what’s happened before Derek buckles under the pressure and shrugs, which is pretty much a surefire yes in Derek-body-language.
Erica whoops, and she, Scott, and Isaac take off running for the cart corrals, presumably to get a headstart on wreaking havoc in the local grocery store, while Boyd and Jackson follow the terror trio at a leisurely pace.
“Don’t race the carts!” Stiles calls, rolling his eyes. “We can’t get kicked out, we live in this town!” He turns a glare on Derek. “You’re weak. You caved so hard. In like a second.”
Derek shrugs again, pushes his sunglasses up to the top of his head. “They’re all going to college in a couple months, might as well get some time in before they go.”
“I am nineteen years old, Derek,” Stiles says, like he’s not grinning because Derek is such a sap, deep in his little werewolf heart. “I don’t think you’re allowed to have any kind of empty-nest feelings before the age of thirty-five, at least. They’re going to make a mess, and they’ll probably try to sneak junk food and god knows what else into the cart when we’re not looking. Your bank account is going to suffer from this, you know it will.”
He’s not serious anymore, and they both know it. Derek has a good point - though everyone’s colleges are relatively close and Stiles is going to be taking online classes rather than going to a campus in the name of working on his Spark for a couple years, he’s going to miss his pack. Maybe that’s worth the headache of wrangling six werewolves into acting like people at the grocery store.
He leans over and bumps his shoulder into Derek’s, grinning when the wolf looks over to catch his eye. “We’re going to end up with three carts of groceries, and you know it.”
“We have the deep freeze,” Derek says. “I’m gonna have to buy a fridge for the house anyway.”
Stiles snorts. “You don’t even have electricity at the house yet. You’re going to have two refrigerators in your loft, because you’re soft and you can’t say no to your betas. It’s going to be ridiculous, and they will love it.”
Derek nods, smile quirking at the corners of his lips. He’s so reserved in public sometimes that Stiles has a hard time reading him. “Jackson’s going to talk you into getting everything you need to make lemon bars, and Isaac’s going to just carry around craisins and salad mix until we tell him to put it in the cart.”
Stiles stops walking to watch as Scott takes off running - at a normal human speed, thank goodness - with Erica in the basket of a shopping cart. Jackson is currently being talked into pushing a cart with Isaac in it, and is clearly wavering from his safe place next to Boyd. This will probably end in blood or property damage.
“No more than three packs of those M&M cookies for Erica, or she’ll make herself sick again,” Stiles says, looking at Derek.
“Boyd likes that caramel popcorn stuff.” Derek nods, and snags the list out of Stiles’ hand and the pen from behind Stiles’ ear. He starts writing, and Stiles resigns himself to his fate. “He won’t ask for it, so it has to be on the list already.”
“Lydia and Allison aren’t here, but we’ll have to figure them in too, or we’ll never hear the end of it. Do we need to factor Peter in this week?”
Derek shakes his head. “He’s doing that thing in Nevada, so we can skip getting that coffee he likes. What about Scott?”
Stiles snorts again. “Scott wouldn’t know shy if it bit him in the ass, you know that. He’ll throw what he wants in the cart.”
They look at the modified list together for a long moment.
“Alright, lowkey goal is to get everyone out alive and without bloodshed.” Stiles gives a fond sigh. “Highkey goal is to not get temporarily or permanently banned from this fine establishment, because I don’t want to have to drive to the next town over to grocery shop every two weeks.”
“Tall order,” Derek jokes. “We’ve only been banned from two places in town, babe, I don’t think the grocery store will-”
There’s a sudden loud crash, the distinct sound of a cart smacking into another cart, followed by a yelp, a thump, and then the loud blare of a car alarm going off. Stiles and Derek resolutely stare at each other instead of looking over at what is sure to be another hit to Derek’s wallet.
“Well, we can always have groceries delivered off the Internet,” Stiles says with a sigh. “You want to rock-paper-scissors to see who has to deal with that?”
Derek shakes his head, but still doesn’t look over. The car alarm is still going off, and the betas are suspiciously silent now. “Take the list and run. Maybe they’ll let us check out before they ban us if it’s already in the cart.”
“I don’t want to look,” Stiles mutters. “I talked Isaac off the top of a telephone pole a couple weeks ago, Derek. Erica and Scott are banned from three IKEAs. I hate to say it, but I think Jackson and Boyd are the good children.”
“We still have Allison and Lydia.” Derek looks over at whatever mess awaits him and gives a barely-imperceptible sigh. “Good news, no one is bleeding.”
“Bad news?”
“Erica appears to have rolled across the hood of a Toyota Camry. She and Scott look pretty guilty, and she hasn’t gotten off the ground yet. I think she may have dented something. There’s an upside-down shopping cart.”
“Where are Jackson and Isaac?” Stiles still doesn’t look. He’s not sure his blood pressure can handle it. “Do I want to know?”
“I think they left the scene of the crime, there’s an abandoned shopping cart near the front of the store.” Derek scans the parking lot. “Boyd is standing far enough away to indicate he wasn’t involved, but he’s definitely doing that thing.”
“The thing where he’s laughing but he’s not? Erica’s probably not dead, then, at least.” Stiles rolls his eyes and blows out a huff. “How’s that empty-nest thing going for you?”
“It’ll be quiet,” Derek says, and squares his shoulders as he prepares to go deal with whatever the hell they’ve just done to that poor Camry. “I’m not sure if that’ll be a blessing or a curse yet.”
“Little of both, depending on the day.” Stiles works up the courage and glances over, and, yep, that sure looks like Erica’s managed to dent a car they don’t even own. She doesn’t have good luck with cars, that’s for sure. “Okay. You go be the big bad Alpha, I’ll go start the shopping. Bring ‘em in if they promise to behave.” He leans in and presses a quick kiss to Derek’s face. “I’ll get you that weird carbonated water you like so much.”
“Get the kind I like,” Derek says quickly. “Not the berry kind.”
A grin spreads across Stiles’ face. “I will only get ‘the kind you like’ if you say what flavor it is.”
Derek glares a little, pretending he’s not about to break into a smile despite the chaos awaiting him across the parking lot. “Pamplemousse,” he says quickly. “You’re ridiculous. It’s a real fruit.”
“I just like hearing your badass, model-hot voice saying nonsensical words. It turns me on.”
“Collywobbles,” Derek says, low and seductive. “Bumbershoot. Lollygag.”
“Oh, baby, you get me so hot,” Stiles deadpans.
“Flibbertigibbet.” Derek finishes with a wink no one else can see, and then turns away, dropping his sunglasses back over his eyes to hide how amused he really is, putting a scowl on his face instead. “Reconvene in twenty minutes?”
“I’ll shoot for a speed-run.” Stiles starts heading toward the entrance of the grocery store they probably won’t be allowed into again after this. He does, however, take a moment to check out just how nice Derek’s jeans fit him, before he goes inside with Boyd following from where he’d been standing and witnessing Erica and Scott’s crash-and-burn.
“There’s always online grocery delivery,” Boyd offers. “You know, for when we get banned.”
“You are all conspiring to give me grey hair,” Stiles says. “Come on, let’s go get your popcorn.”

Your Character Development Imagine
Season 1 Part 2
Tumblr media
You really were not planning on waking up super early the next morning, even though you had school you intended on staying in bed for the entire day.
But apparently mother nature had different plans for you.
You awoke abruptly to what sounded like stones being thrown at your window, at first you buried yourself further into your covers mumbling to yourself inaudibly not even being able to understand your own words. You felt really out of place, something felt weird and it was lowkey starting to freak you out.
The noise got louder and louder until it was too much to bear. Once again you threw the warm duvet from your body, exposing your body to the cold air almost instantly. Leaving you with terrible goosebumps as you trudged over to your window, peering out of it curiously.
Turning back to face your bed you noticed a white shimmering dust, scattered all over your bed sheets.
The events from the night before had been forgotten up until that moment unfortunately, it was like you were having a really bad hangover, when you watched out of your window the banging stopped.
Tumblr media
Rolling your eyes as you suddenly turned your back to the glass. That’s when it started again. Quickly you rushed back to the window ledge eager to see what causing such a racket at 6am.
As you pulled your curtains apart you came face to face with a small robin bird. Tapping it’s beak against the double sided frame. You continued to gaze as the bird for a minute wondering how such a small animal could make so much noise.
To your surprise one more small robin joined the first, tapping persistently at your big window. Your eyebrows furrowed together with confusion as yet another bird flew to the outside of your bedroom. Mimicking the actions of its fellow friends.
You took a step back from your window growing increasingly worried while a number of birds appeared, all knocking at the same time making the sound almost deafening.
You threw your curtains back together backing away from the assemble of feathered creatures. Your heart was beating so hard in your chest you thought you were going to have a heart attack.
Retreating into your bathroom you slammed the door closed behind you, shutting out the commotion that continued to make your ears bleed.
You let out a sigh relief, reaching for the bottom of your t-shirt so that you could finally assess the scratches.
Your heart finally stopped when you checked the area that you had previously bandaged. The deep wound had vanished it had disappeared leaving no trace that it actually existed.
To say that you were confused would be an understatement, inside you honestly believed that you were going insane. There was no sign of blood, no grazed skin, no scratches.
You could have sworn it happened.
Letting your t-shirt fall back down by your sides you turned on the cold tap reaching down and splashing water over your face. Waking you up properly.
When you brought your head back up you reached for your towel attempting to dry your face. You froze suddenly noticing that your skin was so pale, you looked different. You felt abnormal. It had taken you a minute or two to notice that your eyes had gone from y/e/c to a bright silver.
Tumblr media
How was that even possible?!
You stared for what seemed like forever, it had to be a dream it had to be. You stood looking dumbfounded at your reflection. your new grey eyes never leaving your own face as you continued to inspect the change.
The consistent tapping making your mind warped. It was as if it was echoing throughout your brain, suddenly causing you to break down.
“Please just stop, i want it to stop”you cried as you slumped down on your cold bathroom tiles.
A second later and the persistent drumming in your mind had come to a halt as if the birds had listened to your wishes.
You waited for a moment before deciding that it was safe for you to leave your bathroom. When you entered back into your room everything was hushed, and there was no sign of the small dainty animals.
Maybe you were finally going crazy stuck in that room, maybe you were seeing things. You’d come to the conclusion that you needed fresh air so going to school was your only option.
You carelessly threw the first hoodie in sight, making your way down the kitchen. You were pleased to see a note from your mother taped to the fridge explaining that she had gone to work already and that there was money on the counter for your lunch.
You didn’t know how you were going to explain the silver eyes. It then occurred to you that you hadn’t used your phone since the night before. In fact you didnt even know where your phone was.
The realisation then hit you, you’d left it behind in the woods.
Swiping your car keys angrily from the table you made your way out to your car, speeding away from your house with only one objective.
Tumblr media
As you approach Beacon Hills High you searched the crowd for your victims, ready to unleashed your newly found anger. Once you had safely parked your car you stomped towards Scott and Stiles.
Scott could hear your heart racing from miles away, he didn’t know how but he could. He could also feel the anger radiating from your body.
Stiles noticed you after Scott had, his eyebrows raising at you a smile forming on his face. It was if he was happy to see you.
Tumblr media
“Y/n, you’re alive i couldn’t find you yesterday in the woo-
“Yeah i am alive, but you won’t be for much longer”you growled, cutting stiles off as you approached the two boys, dragging each of them by their bags to an area where nobody hung out. Nobody would be able to hear their screams.
“Oh! My god, wow”Stiles yelped as you pushed Scott into him with some force backing them both into a corner folding your arms and tapping your foot impatiently.
“Woah y/n, nice contact lenses your eyes look so cool”Stiles complimented you unaware of the consequences.
You lunged forwards picking him up by the scruff of his shirt.
“They aren’t contact lenses dumbass, you think this is funny?!”you started to raise your voice.
Stiles gawped at you “I don’t know what you’re talking ab-
You scoffed, letting Stiles go a little too quickly making him stumble backwards into Scott. A look of hurt flashed across his face before you opened your mouth to rant again.
“You two nerds did this to me, what you wanted me to come into the woods so that you could put some weird chemicals into my body for your stupid little experiments don’t think for one second that your weird projects go unnoticed i see you two sneaking around all the time!”you exclaimed not really making any sense.
Scott and Stiles exchanged confused glances.
“Whatever you did to me, change it back before i ruin your lives”you hissed.
“We didn’t do anything to you y/n”Scott explained quickly.
“Look i really don’t need this right now, last night when you left me alone i was attacked”Scott added, his head dropping so he was looking at the floor.
“What?”you grimaced. You’d been having brief flashbacks to when you were knocked to the ground by the unseeable force in the forest.
“He thinks a werewolf bit him”Stiles continued the story.
You let out a menacing laugh.
“Don’t be stupid, werewolves don’t exist”you shook your head as if it was the most ridiculous thing in the world.
“Show her Scott, show her the bite”Stiles nudged his best friend. Scott hesitated before lifting up his shirt showing you a white gauze covered with tape that resembled your own.
There were small spots of blood covering the bandage as he peeled the tape from his skin to reveal nothing.
“What i could have sworn there was something there”Scott mumbled to himself, the same thing had happened to you and you were one hundred percent baffled by it all.
Narrowing your eyes at Scott, you found yourself unintentionally reaching up to rub the area of your own wound, only to feel discomfort. Stiles watched you shuffle around for a few seconds he watched closely as you rubbed the side of your body nervously. Stilinski frowned slightly, cocking his head to the side deep in thought.
You could feel Stiles’ eyes on you, raising your head in his direction immediately making eye contact. Your eyes bored into his wondering if he had seen your previous actions.
“What makes you think it was a werewolf”you asked turning to Scott, trying to change the atmosphere.
“I heard a wolf howling in the woods after i was attacked”Scott answered.
“Impossible, there have been no sightings of wolves in California for like 60 years”Stiles shook his head.
“Well i found the body aswell” Scott announced.
The conversation had started to bore you so you found yourself walking away not wanting to talk to them anymore than you had to, you obviously weren’t getting the answers you needed from them so there was no point in hanging around. You decided that you would catch them out later so that they could fix you eyes because you were convinced that they did something to you.
You were only a few footsteps away from the teens when you were barged to the side by the queen bee herself Lydia Martin. She carried on strutting past as if nothing had happened whereas you turned around ready to confront her about her attitude.
She may have gotten away with walking over everyone else but you were not ‘everyone’. You were just about to give her a piece of your mind when you were cut short by the sound of Stiles Stilinski shrieking about the dead body Scott had come across the night before.
Tumblr media
“Oh god that is freaking awesome. I mean this is seriously gonna be the best thing that’s happened to this town since-
Stiles’ eyes landed on Lydia mid conversation, and suddenly he was in a trance. You rolled your eyes dramatically before listening in on the conversation, entertained by the fact that Lydia didn’t even know that Stiles existed.
“Since the birth of Lydia Martin. Hey Lydia, you look...like you’re gonna ignore me”
You watched the one sided exchange with a uninterested expression on your face.
“Pathetic”you whispered, tutting to yourself as you hugged your hoodie tighter around your body. The winds were picking up rapidly and you were regretting your life decisions. You were better off staying in your bed.
Luckily for the boys, they didn’t see you for the rest of the school day. You figured that after lessons had finished you would go back to the woods to try and locate your phone.
It was comforting that you were visiting during the day time, you really didn’t want to run into whatever had attacked you the previous night.
A small part of you wondered if the creature that had attacked Scott was the same animal that had attacked you, however you shook away the thought.
You kicked the leaves from your shoes, scanning the ground for your phone. You cursed under your breath remembering that your battery had been quite low the night before so it was most probably dead. You’d never find it.
Tumblr media
Whilst you were roaming the woods on your phone search and rescue you noticed that you felt at peace, as if you were meant to be there. You could breath and you didn’t feel pressure on your chest like you normally would. You weren’t suffocating. Then the thought of returning back to reality hit you like a brick.
Just when you thought that your day couldn’t get any worse you heard two male voices approaching you.
Tumblr media
“Y/N? Is that you?”Stiles jogged over to you.
“No, it isn’t”you deadpanned.
“What are you doing here?”Scott asked.
“Not that it’s any of your business but i lost my phone here last night”you spoke out, not even attempting to make eye contact. You were terrified that Stiles was going to become suspicious.
“I’m trying to look for my inhaler”Scott stated.
“I didn’t ask”you replied expressionless.
“We could help eachother”Scott offered.
You let out a deep audible breath before turning to face the two. Yet another burst of anger made it’s way out of your mouth.
“If it wasn’t for you and that stupid animal thing attacking me then i wouldn’t have lost my phone in the first place!”you shouted as you pressed your hands into Scott’s chest accusingly.
“What did you just say?!”Stiles edged closer to you. Of course he had perfect hearing, you had realised that you had basically told them everything unintentionally and you decided that muting yourself and controlling your anger would be best in the future.
You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. Inhaling sharply. If you didn’t tell them now they really wouldn’t leave you alone.
“I said i wouldn’t have lost my phone in the first place if it wasn’t for Scott”you repeated yourself quietly.
“No about the animal”Stiles said folding his arms.
This time an aggressive groan of frustration left your lips.
“After i left Scott last night, i dropped my phone and i was trying to find it and something tried to attack me. It kind of did and kind of didn’t now don’t come up with any of those bullshit theories about how i’m a freaking werewolf”you warned.
Stiles looked as though he was conflicted for a couple of seconds before turning to Scott who was sniffing the air like a dog.
“What is that smell?”Scott asked as he continued to stick his nose in the air.
“It smells like mint, like an old mint and it stinks”you shook your head in disgust as it wafted towards you.
“Guys i can’t smell it”Stiles frowned.
“See this is what i mean, like earlier i had all the time in the world to catch the balled during lacrosse and that’s not the only weird thing. I can hear stuff i should not be able to hear. Smell things”Scott explained, growing increasingly stressed.
You really didn’t want to explain that you were going through the same thing, especially to two strangers.
“Smell things? Like what?”Stiles questioned.
“Like that damned Mint Mojito gum in your pocket, please it reeks throw it away”you pinched your nose.
“Y/N you can smell it aswell?!”Scott asked, his eyes assessing you. He had noticed your appearance had changed drastically overnight. Stiles had noticed aswell.
“I guess”you mumbled taking your attention away from the conversation once again, searching for your phone.
“What actually happened to you last night?”Stiles asked as he watched you.
“Nothing”you lied.
“Y/n please-
“I’ve already told you i got attacked okay? i don’t know what it was but it scratched me really badly”you raised your voice, losing all sanity.
“Show me the scratch”Scott and Stiles yelped in unison.
“No point, it’s not there anymore”you mumbled walking ahead humming to yourself.
Stiles’ mouth dropped open, and he threw his arms around in the air behind you when you had your back to him, frustrated that you didn’t mention it earlier in the day. You spun around as Scott started to speak, Stiles’ arms falling back down to his side quickly.
“Y/n, what if it’s like an infection that had different effects on us i mean look at you suddenly you have grey eyes and your skin has gone so pale it’s almost like it’s glittering”Scott’s head cocked to the side.
“Stop with all these theories seriously, the scratch must’ve just healed overnight maybe it wasn’t as deep as i thought, and as for my pale skin wow thankyou for the insult loser”you exclaimed.
“What about your eyes, how can you explain that?”Stiles interrupted you. You would have come back with something witty but you just didn’t know what to say. You just couldn’t explain it.
“Do you know what, i’m perfectly fine without my phone”you hissed before spinning on your heel, walking away.
Again you didn’t get too far before a hand on your shoulder pulled you backwards gently.
“Y/n, wait stop”Stiles said quietly.
You shrugged his hand from your body before looking up to see an older male, he stood staring at the three of you. His green eyes piercing through your bodies.
Tumblr media
“What are you doing here? Huh? This is private property”The handsome man approached you all.
Scott and Stiles stood closer together, frightened but you remained still. Your head tilted to get a closer look at the man, you could’ve sworn you recognised him from somewhere.
Stiles stepped forward, ready to grab your hand and pull you back away from the stranger.
“Uh sorry man, we didn’t know”Stiles explained.
“Yeah we were just looking for something but uh forget it. Uhm. Alright come on i gotta get to work”Scott ran his hands through his hair awkwardly.
Derek’s gaze fell onto you, it was as if you couldn’t move, he was fixated on you the only one who hadn’t said a word. You were stuck. Your lips pressed into a thin line.
Stiles watched the two of you in confusion.
The Hale’s hand lifted from his side, tossing Scott his inhaler, he then proceeded to throw your phone towards you.
But you didn’t move to catch it, in fact you let it drop into the leaves in front of you as you continued staring at Derek. Stiles rushed forwards to pick up your phone for you.
Finally you managed to snap out of the trance, sending Derek a glare before walking off in the opposite direction. Scott and Stiles started to job so they could catch up with you.
There was no way you were going to get rid of them.
“Guys that was Derek Hale, you remember right? He’s only a few years older than us?”Stiles spoke out before yelping as you plucked your phone from his grasp.
“Remember what?”Scott asked.
“His family, they all burned to death in a fire, like ten years ago”
Your heart dropped, you were very familiar with the hale fire... In fact you had witnessed it, you must’ve been 7 when you were playing in the woods not too far from the Hale residents.
You had seen the whole thing so that where you had recognised Derek from.
“I wonder what he’s doing back”Scott noted, continuing to walk towards the car park.
A/N:Part two is finally out, i’m sorry for the layout and the dodgy paragraphs but tumblr is hating on me because i have been away for a while, i’m still editing it to make it better but for now here is part two:) x

I wish you’d write a fic where people thought stiles and a person of your choice were together and that stiles was cheating on them with Derek (or vice versa). Sterek is actually established but for some reason these people don’t know that.
Jane was seething. She wasn’t even being subtle about it either, she could see other cafe patrons glancing over as they passed her table, but she was too angry to care. All of her focus, concentration, awareness, rage was locked dead on the back of that stupid, scummy, oblivious head that didn’t even have the decency to be aware of her glare.
Of all people, of all the people in her life, she never expected this from Stiles.
Stiles, who once said he valued loyalty above all.
Stiles, who remotely bricked Alicia’s ex-boyfriend’s phone when she caught him cheating.
Stiles, who gleefully changed the locks on Ramona’s apartment when she casually revealed she was dating two guys who didn’t agree to that arrangement.
Stiles, who had the sweetest and most dedicated boyfriend who drove to see him every few weeks.
How could he do this to Scott?
Jane narrowed her eyes, willing that little shitstain to turn around and see her. She wanted him to know that he’d been caught. Know that she saw him holding hands with some male model, that she saw him lean down to give him a kiss before he sat, and that he was not getting away with this.
Scott just left that morning to drive back to Davis, cheery as could be, and definitely not freshly dumped. This was definitely cheating, and man. Stiles could be a little ruthless, but this was just cold. Seeing Scott off and not four hours later, running off with this…floozy.
No, she reeled herself back a bit. She didn’t know if this guy knew he was the other man. He might still be thinking he lucked out finding a great guy with an unfairly attractive smirk who liked to wink and confuse people. Jane had thought the same the first few times she hung out with Stiles, before she realized he was happily taken.
(Only apparently that wasn’t actually an issue for Stiles, and now she was shamefully insulted that he never found her attractive enough to cheat with.)
And now there he was, leading this guy on without a care in the world.
Jane was torn. She couldn’t in good conscious watch this happen and do nothing, but what did someone do in this situation?
Did she storm right over there in public and tell this guy looking at Stiles with hearts in his eyes that he was falling for a two timing scumbag? Did he already know and didn’t care that he was enabling this?
Or did she snap a picture and confront Stiles about it later, in private? Maybe give him an ultimatum. Confess to Scott and accept his choice going forward, or she would tell him herself the next time he came to visit.
She decided to do both. Snap a picture for proof, confront him now, and if he tried to deny it, hit him with the ultimatum.
Trying to be subtle, she kept her phone low, pretending she was texting someone as she aimed the camera towards their table. It was the perfect vantage point; she could get their held hands in the photo, enough of Stiles’ profile that he was recognizable, that guy’s heart eyes… She took a few pictures in case any of them came out blurry in the less than ideal mood lighting. She wanted Stiles to know she had him.
Except she didn’t. Flipping back through the photos she’d taken, every single one was whited out with a giant camera flare. She wiped the camera lens on the hem of her shirt and took a picture out the window at the sunny parking lot. That one came out fine, even with the glares bouncing off of cars and windshields.
She retook the pictures of Stiles and his mystery man, but again, there was a massive white flare covering both their faces.
What, did Stiles plan this or something? Was he so used to sneaking around behind people’s backs that he wore that weird anti-paparazzi clothing? Was he a serial cheater? That much of a total and complete scumbag?
That did it. Jane made up her mind, grabbed her purse and paper coffee cup, and stormed over. She was going to say her piece and leave, let Stiles deal with the fallout on his own, the prick.
“Oh my god, hey Stiles!” she greeted with fake enthusiasm as she approached. From right there, she could see that not only were they holding hands, but they were even sharing a muffin.
Disgusting.
“Jane, hey,” Stiles greeted back, not looking the least bit concerned about seeing her. Wow, ballsy. He didn’t even have the decency to stop holding hands with the guy, and somehow that just pissed her off even more.
She couldn’t even keep up the charade, she was too angry.
“So who the hell is this?” she demanded, jerking her head towards his date, who raised his eyebrows at her abrupt shift in tone.
“Oh, this is Derek.” Stiles said it so casually, so without remorse, that Jane wanted nothing more than to dump her now-cold latte directly on his head. He was wearing a white shirt, it would be ruined. Minor in the grand scheme of things, but she wanted nothing more than to fuck up everything for him.
“Derek,” she repeated. “And does Derek know about Scott?” She looked to Derek to see his reaction, but he just look confused and kept glancing at Stiles uncertainly.
Stiles frowned. “Yes? Why wouldn’t he?”
“Oh, he does?” Somehow she doubted that. “He knows that you’re in a long term, not so long distance relationship with Scott, and that he’s the nicest guy on the planet who doesn’t deserve to have his heart broken?”
“What?” Derek finally spoke, scandalized, and Jane was vindicated. “You’re dating Scott?”
“Don’t even start,” Stiles ordered at Derek, then turned to Jane. “I’m not dating Scott.”
Now it was her turn to raise her eyebrows. “Well that was a quick turnaround from this morning.”
“You dumped Scott this morning?” Derek asked, and jumped as Stiles kicked him under the table.
“Shut up, you asshole.” Then back to Jane, “I wasn’t dating Scott this morning either. I’ve never dated Scott in my life, he’s my best friend.”
Jane could only stare as her entire worldview shifted violently, everything she’d ever seen the two of them do flashing through her mind. They constantly shared drinks, food, ate off each other’s plates without asking, laid all over each other while watching movies, hugging all the time, she’d seen them holding hands before—
“You guys constantly answer the door in your underwear.”
Derek looked like he was trying not to laugh and got kicked again.
“I promise we’re just friends.”
“Literally everyone thinks you guys are dating.” Max had been cooing over how cute they were just that morning on the walk to class. Jesus wanted to double date with them. Basil was already lowkey planning their wedding. “Stiles, I swear to god, if you’re lying—”
“Oh my god, I’m dating Derek!” Stiles insisted. “For like three years! Do I need to call Scott to verify for you? Because I’m sure his girlfriend would find this hilarious.”
“She would think it’s adorable,” Derek said, nodding.
Jane was having a hell of a time catching up. She had so many questions swirling around her, all clamoring to be asked first.
“Hang on.” Jane grabbed an empty chair from a nearby table and pulled it up between them, completely uninvited. Stiles looked a little annoyed—tough, he deserved it—but Derek just looked amused. Probably at Stiles’ annoyance. Damn it, they were cute together.
No, focus. Questions.
“If he’s your boyfriend,” she pointed to Derek, “why the hell is Scott always here and not him?”
“I see Derek when I go home.” Stiles shrugged. “Scott lives like an hour and a half away, and his roommate kind of sucks, so he comes here.”
“And his car isn’t a death trap,” Derek muttered, taking a smug sip of his coffee.
“That’s enough from the peanut gallery,” Stiles shot back, but Jane had more important things than cute banter.
“But you literally never talk about Derek.”
“Because I did too much in freshman year and everyone told me to shut up about him.”
Okay, that made sense, Jane conceded with a nod. She hadn’t met him until sophomore year.
“And why was Scott here this morning?”
“Derek just got back from a week in New York. I had a test, so Scott picked him up from the airport and dropped him off. We’re driving back to Beacon Hills together after I finish class.”
Jane sat back in her chair and absently sipped her cold latte. It tasted terrible, she regretted it immediately, but she needed something to do while she processed everything she just learned all at once.
Stiles was dating Derek, Scott was his best friend. It was so simple, there were easy explanations to everything, but it was a lot to process after thinking Stiles and Scott were together for the last two years. She had to reframe every memory she had of them, every time they’d all hung out, the time she caught a very drunk Stiles kissing Scott’s neck while he acted like everything was normal.
Was this all a trick after all?
“So um…” Stiles started casually, “not that I’m not happy to see you…”
He dragged their muffin out of reach, and Jane realized she’d been idly picking at it between contemplative sips of coffee.
“Oh! Sorry, yeah.” She pushed her chair back to stand. “Nice meeting you, Derek. See you next week, Stiles.” She waved awkwardly, nodded to herself for some reason, and then booked it, face burning bright red.
People at other tables glanced at her as she passed. They’d no doubt heard her initial accusation and had probably been keeping an ear on how it all progressed.
God, she would be replaying the last ten minutes every night for the rest of her life. She was humiliated and it was all her own fault.
And just to confirm that everyone in the small cafe had heard, as she pushed open the door to leave, she could hear Stiles’ voice loud and clear from the back:
“What are you doing? Are you texting Kira? No, don’t—give me that!”

Everything of mine by rei_c (Steter, Teen Wolf)
"I've been sleeping a lot," Stiles says. "I'm not eating. I don't have any energy. My mind isn't working as fast as it used to. I feel run down. Breathing hurts, sometimes. My hair's started to fall out. My muscles spasm. And before you ask: yes, they've run tests. I went to the hospital over in the Valley and they checked everything -- ruled out everything. The most they can come up with is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome but I don't fit all of those symptoms and --."
He stops there, looks down, away from Peter's eyes. "What?" Peter asks, gently.
It takes a moment for Stiles to steel himself, to meet Peter's gaze, to say, "I know what it is. Why I'm sick, I mean."
"Please, Stiles," Peter says. "Tell me."
or
When the nogitsune and Stiles split, their bodies got mixed up and torn apart, leaving Stiles to inhabit a completely magical construct. He needs an anchor to the physical world in order to survive and when he can't wait any longer, he goes to Peter Hale.
This was so lovely. I really loved the change in dynamics, that Stiles was the one with all the power. Plus, post-nogitsune fall out? So much win.

i have always been the storm by stilinskisparkles (Sterek, Teen Wolf)
"You’re all headed out to Oklahoma in a week.”
Derek snaps his head up, stares at him in horror, “No, boss.”
“Yes,” Finstock insists in a steely voice. “The NSSL have been on at us for a year about some decent exposure, and I think you’re just the team to do it.”
“I haven’t done weather since college,” Derek protests.
Boyd snorts again, presumably because he’s thinking back to the time when Derek and the weather last collided and he…. well, didthe guy into the weather for a brief, wonderful, terribly foolishtime. But, Boyd needs to shut up before Derek punches him on the nose.
I just really loved how fluffy and sweet this was. Very lowkey angst and fantastic friendships all around.

chestnut kisses by unloyal_olio (Sterek, Teen Wolf)
A kissing game goes horribly wrong.
(Or a high school AU, in which Stiles's love saves Derek from the clutches of Kate Argent.)
Note: Chapter one is the experimentally formatted original. Chapter two is the edited version with conventional formatting.
High school fluff and angst and Derek being adorable and Stiles pining and it was perfection.
*** anchor by thegeminisage (Dargent, Teen Wolf)
Derek insists on coming along with Chris Argent and the Calaveras on the hunt for Kate, so he can see her dead for good. While following her trail back to Beacon Hills, they come to understand some hard truths about both each other and themselves, and struggle to find the reason why, after losing nearly everyone they've ever loved, they're still here.
I loved loved loved this. The slow build, the way Derek dealt with his sexuality and need to be close to Chris. Chris dealing with his trauma. The delicious slow fall for each other--it was gorgeous.
***
steady hands by thegeminisafe (Dargent, Teen Wolf)
Twenty-four hours after the death of his sister, Chris Argent wakes in Derek Hale's loft with his hands trembling too badly to load and fire a gun, and no matter what he does, he can't make them stop. He made a promise to protect Beacon Hills in Allison's stead, but now he has to decide how he carries on her legacy when he doesn't know if he can fight, if he can ever lay his guilt to rest, and if he's truly capable of doing good when he has already done so much harm.
This fic. It was so good?? I love when falling in love with someone doesn't fix everything. Because sure, they're together--this is a direct followup to Anchors--but Chris is still so fucking damaged and it's so damn GOOD. Read it, friends.

breathing you in by lavenderlotion (Steter, Teen Wolf)
“Good morning, kiddo,” his dad said, and the words hurt.
All Stiles wanted to do was step forward and let his dad hug him, allow his father to give him comfort. His father's hugs had always been all-encompassing, the way he would fold himself around Stiles and hold him as tightly as he could.
Stiles stepped around him, careful not to let foreign skin touch anything that was special to him.
Anything he loved.
I really really loved this. The way Stiles struggles with being in his post-nogitsune body, and the way Peter and his dad take care of him? It's perfect. I want more. SOOOO MUCH MORE.

i could by julibean19 (Steter, Teen Wolf)
Stiles froze. He knew that voice. The way it said his name. He was immediately brought back to a dark parking garage, sharp claws biting into his neck, red eyes flashing, and a jaw practically unhinging to swallow him whole. A shiver ran down his spine as he finally placed it.
The man in the shower was Peter Hale.
What business did Peter Hale have with Stiles? Why was he laying out Stiles’ clothes and making him healthy lunches? Why did Stiles wake up wrapped in his 20,000 thread count sheets with a wedding ring on his finger? What was happening?
This was lovely and angsty. I'm a huge sucker for amenisa fics, and this one was done incredibly well.

once upon a dream by gryvon (Sterek, Teen Wolf)
Stiles has been dreaming of the Hale family burning alive since he was a child. After being locked in Eichen for a year, Stiles learns to keep his visions to himself. That doesn't stop him from keeping an eye on Derek Hale while he waits for Kate Argent to make her move. Only watching Derek becomes loving Derek and stopping Derek and Kate from getting together turns into Stiles dating Derek Hale. He's in love with Derek but his visions haven't stopped, only now he has to watch Derek die with the rest of his family. He'll do anything to keep that dream from becoming reality.
This was lovely. Just so lovely.

mangata by aretemis69 (Sterek, Teen Wolf)
The place chosen for the speed dating is nice, close enough to the shore that the sun warms the shallow waters and washes everything in blinding white light. Long, thin shadows crawl all over the hills, dancing over pinkish sand and pale rocks, following the swirls of the surface.
When he looks around, Stiles can see various spots marked out with colorful stones, all organized in a loose circle and numbered with small shells. In the center of it all is a massive signboard in human plastic, glinting under the sun.
It is, objectively, the nicest place Stiles has ever been this miserable in.
-
Or the Sterek mermen speed dating AU where Stiles is unlucky in love (until he isn't).
This is such a lovely little fic. The worldbuilding is beautifully done and the sweet pining is perfection.

the darkness inside by isthatbloodonhisshirt (Sterek, Teen Wolf)
The sheriff watched him for a moment, then he sighed and turned slightly. He reached out to open a cabinet door beside him, and pulled out a shelf. It was on a track, so it rolled out of the cabinet fairly easily, and held a small CCTV. Derek frowned and inched his chair to the side a little bit so he could get a better angle.
He was looking at a teenager, or someone at least young enough to be the same age as Scott. He was sitting on a bed in what looked to be a larger room, the area he was in surrounded by four glass walls, with his legs crossed and head tilted.
He was also staring directly into the camera, as if he knew someone was watching. A creepy smile slowly slid onto the teen’s face, and he held up one hand, wiggling his fingers in a slow, eery wave.
Derek felt his mouth run dry. He didn’t know who this kid was, but he didn’t like him.
“Who is that?” he asked quietly.
“That,” said the sheriff, “is my son.”
This? This is the perfect nogitsune possession fic EVER. It's gorgeously done and the way Derek can tell the difference between Stiles and Nogitsune is heart-wrenchingly perfect.

could frame thy mortal by orphan_account (Steter, Teen Wolf)
It’s normal. Spending every waking second watching Hale is normal. In many ways, Hale is his whole universe: tracking his movements, waiting for what he does next, wondering what he’s thinking. The only outside stimulation he gets otherwise is the shower visits, and even then it’s only when Chris is the one taking him that he gets any engagement.
Stiles knows Hale like he knows the water pipe. The sixty two bars that line the side of their cage. Like the minute of cold water that hits Stiles’ skin before the heat finally comes in the shower block. "
Held in an Argent facility, never knowing who he can trust, Stiles pays for his survival with the only currency he has.
I loved what Stiles is, and how far he'll go to survive and Peter in general is perfection. It's gorgeous.

Do you think any of them (scolia babs) have ever been jealous of another?
Like Scott and Malia jealous of each other regarding another person?
Malia I think might have had a little jealousy surrounding Kira. And not while Scott and Kira were together, I really don’t think she realized she had any romantic feelings for him until 6a, but I think after they got together there might be some jealousy because he has her tail. Because I feel like Malia is really insecure about that. Like, Stiles was with her for six months and he was really in love with the girl she thought he had gotten over the entire time, so I feel like she’d be really scared about scott and kira because they didnt like choose to break up it kind of happened without them wanting it to you know? So Malia a little jealously for sure.
I bet Scott has like little jealously type of stuff like lets say they go out to a bar in Davis and someone hits on Malia or something like that, just little jealousy which he’d immediately remedy with lowkey PDA (like walking up and sliding his arm around her shoulder, or kissing her cheek or something like that, and be like HA MINE)

Dating Derek Hale Would Include...
Tumblr media
You two met through Scott and Stiles
He was his usual broody and mysterious self but let's be real he was just a lil shy to talk to you
You two spend time together trying to solve some case that Sheriff Stilinski had on his hands
This led to spending many nights at Derek's just to try and solve it
At first he was distant and quiet because he didn't want himself to fall for another woman after what happened with Kate
But he came around after realizing that he wasn't going to risk losing you
You two kept it on the down-low for a while because neither of you knew how to address your relationship properly
This went on for about two months
Then one day the pack walked into Derek's loft and seen you bent over Derek's knee
So your secret was out
But they were chill with it, they were happy Derek finally found someone who made him happy and loved him the way he deserves to be loved
Stiles teased you all the time, saying your resting bitch face complimented the sourwolves attitude
Derek is always attentive and protective of you, it's a wonder he's not suggested peeing on you to mark his territory further
But hickeys do fine for him
He always touches you in some way, whether it’s his hand in yours or around your waist he doesn't care tbh
You're his and he's yours and he makes it very clear
He once growled at a guy who was hitting on you
Derek loves to see you smile so he cracks terrible jokes just to see you laugh, and even stoops as low as saying cheesy pickup lines he heard Stiles try out on Lydia
Cuddling™
Rough sex when he's got pent up anger
Sweet lovemaking on lazy Sunday mornings
HicKEYs
He's just so proud of you all the time even if all you do is get out of bed he's like 'YES BABY'
He lowkey wants a family but is insecure because he doesn't think he'd be a good father
Though let's be real he'd be the best dad ever
Just imagine Derek with a baby strapped to him as he cooks breakfast
Holy hell
Calling him a sour wolf
A lot of mutual eye rolling, you learn from the best
Constantly charging his phone for him because you text him all day and his battery runs out
And he never puts it on charge
Wearing his leather jacket to school
Derek secretly loving it because his scent is all over it and it shows you belong to him
Derek constantly teasing you about reading and writing in your free time
He likes reading what you write
Teaching Derek how to work a gun and he's surprised that you know how to work one
Derek growling at anyone who comes too close to you
Him always picking you up at school in his Camaro
Glaring at any guy within a 10 metre radius of you
Smug little shit
Date nights once a week
Like the museum or dinner or bowling
Or just staying in and watching a movie
Him loving the way you cuddle up to him at night because c'mon he's really hot(literally)
And comfy
And just a great pillow
Hot sex basically everywhere in the loft
Him whispering 'I love you' before you fall asleep
He doesn't say it much
But when it does it's worth it

(1/1 I 2,764 I Teen I Stdyia)
By the time Stiles pushes the locker room door open and is smacked in the face with the overwhelming smell of nasty boy, he’s nearly dancing on the spot. He’s been trying to use the bathroom since second period, but every time he attempted, Jackson was there. Laughing. And sneering. And being evil.
Jackson takes advantage of his restraining order in the most annoying way possible.
Kisses of Acceptance by Yoru_Lun

Stiles realized that there's an increasing amount of kisses between him and his pack mates and there's an interesting part in the ancient book that Deaton had lent him

Eventually they find themselves moving in with Peter, and soon Derek who also gets hit by the same witch.
The Howl by LaBelleetlaloup
(1/1 I 4,995 I Teen I No Pairing)

Stiles Comes Home by VickeyStar
(13/? I 14,805 I Not Rated I Scira)
Stiles Stilinski is the unluckiest person in the world. Seriously, the zombie virus outbreak just had to happen, when she was in New York, far, far away from the pack. She made it through, all the way down to Florida to escape. The zombies are under control, but there's a deadpool, and people trying to kill her friends. Are they safe, or will the hunters get the chance to spread the outbreak?OrStiles suffers PTSD from surviving the outbreak of a virus on the other side of the country from her pack. When she returns, she has to adjust back to normal life, for a pack of supernatural creatures, that is. But she keeps seeing something in the shadows, not knowing what it is. The pack sees just how badass Stiles is, and how she survived.

One day, Malia Tate comes home from school to find a box of tapes on her front door step, messages from Stiles, her first love and she is listed as one of the reasons behind his suicide
Surprise by hesgotfangs
(18/? I 29,590 I Teen I Isaac/Jackson)
Alot of weird things happen in Beacon Hills. But no one expected Isaac and Jackson to come back, with a baby.
Do You Want The Bite? And I'll Take That As A Yes, As You're Lying To Yourself Anyway. by CescaLR
(/? I 32,886 I Teen I Scallison)
Stiles was pretty certain Peter never liked anyone, and it was very bad for you if he did. He was also pretty certain that Peter Hale, Mr. Uncle Creeper himself, really did not give a damn whether or not you gave conset to be turned into a werewolf or not.So why, all of a sudden, was the man asking for his consent? Stiles doesn't know. Which, to be frank, means he's probably going to be bitten anyway.So. Well.

(12/? I 42,392 I Mature I Steter)
The curse will dissipate once you find John Stilinski and tell him the truth. You`ll be fine. Good luck!
He dropped the last card from his numb fingers and stared at the wall in complete bewilderment.“Fucking,” great!OrStiles was running for a very long time. Unfortunately, no one told him that there was no running away from fate.

different anon but *whispers* popular stiles and nerd lydia who grew up as bffs and lived next door, lydia still one of stiles' favorite people but she's lowkey shook because she's nowhere near as popular as he is but here's the thing: they've both secretly been in love with each other the whole time :)
i am hollering lmao this au truly is my favourite underrated one and it’s a tragedy fandom doesn’t talk about it more
stiles and lydia who grew up as bffs next door to each other and hung out constantly
the endless sleepovers bc their parents went to high school together and knew each other well
she’s literally the only person at school who knows his real name
except then when they get to high school stiles makes the lacrosse team w/ his new friend scott and suddenly he doesn’t have as much time to hang out w/ lydia when he has all these new friends and a girlfriend (malia)
they don’t have a fight but they drift apart until they never hang out at all and the only contact they ever has is a quick hi if they run into each other in public
lydia just wants to get through high school as quickly as possible so she can get to college and live her life (and pretend her feelings for stiles are
lydia might be a nerd and she might take part in all the nerdy extra curriculars (they look great on college applications) but for some reason none of the popular kids ever mess w/ her (much later she figures out they gave her a wide berth bc she was in w/ stiles)
lydia doesn’t know scott very well but she’s always subconsciously held a grudge against him bc she irrationally blames him for taking stiles away from her
except then scott is failing one of his classes during junior year and lydia is asked to tutor him and she can’t say no
scott turns out to be a sweetheart and lydia can’t stay mad at him for very long, she can totally see why stiles loves him
they end up becoming friends, and bc scott is such a sweetheart he invites her to a party after a lacrosse game. she wants to say no, but then she thinks it’s something she should probably experience at least once, so she decides to go. (it’s definitely not bc stiles might be there. nope.)
except scott is far smarter than lydia ever gave him credit for and he’s determined help his best friend get the girl of his dreams bc
unbeknownst to lydia stiles literally only started avoiding her bc he was too awkward to admit he had feelings for her
he’s been telling scott all about lydia for so long and how he doesn’t know how to fix things w/ her
she ends up talking to stiles at the party and it’s awkward but it’s nice to talk w/ him again
the team are very nice to her when they find out she’s the reason their co-captain got his grades back up and could stay on the team
maybe stiles rescues lydia when jackson is hitting on her
after that lydia sort of gets adopted into scott’s circle of friends, even after he stops needing her tutoring
lydia’s seen enought movies to know how the popular kids being nice to the invisible nerd usually ends, but she gets to talk to stiles again so she goes along w/ it. plus she really does like scott (and his girlfriend allison is really nice)
so this goes on for a while
stiles and lydia still don’t talk about the elephant in the room (why they stopped hanging out) but they are talking again so lydia will take it
she’s always known stiles had the tendency to avoid any kind of emotional conversation
this is a shitty teen movie au so of course it all comes to a head at a school dance at the end of the year (prom? idk how american school life works)
lydia will never turn down an opportunity to do her hair and slay in a dress so she accepts scott’s offer to join the group date thing he’s got going on (even if she knows stiles will be there w/ his girlfriend and she knows it’ll hurt every time she sees them)
she can’t even hate malia bc it’s not like she’s dating stiles to personally hurt lydia and she seems nice
everything is fine until the rest of the group are off dancing and she’s left w/ stiles, who she’s been avoiding being alone w/ the whole night
he asks her to dance (think of the 1x11 snark lmao) and gives her a whole speech when she says no, so eventually she agrees
it’s just one dance, right? and it’s a fairly upbeat song?
except fate hates lydia and pretty soon a slow song comes on and then she’s slow dancing w/ stiles stilinski and trying not to fall in her four inch heels as she internally freaks out
he pulls her a little too close and she lets herself imagine that they’re there as an actual couple but then she remembers his girlfriend and she stumbling backwards and running off the dance floor
stiles follows her and they get into an argument bc lydia is like ‘you ditched me! you have other friends now!’ so stiles leaves when she asks him to
but he sends scott to check on lydia
lydia tells him the whole story, right down to how she’s so in love w/ stiles but he has a girlfriend so she sort of wants the entire floor to swallow her up
scott starts laughing and she’s sort of offended but then he’s dragging malia and another girl over and is like ‘lydia, you know malia. have you met malia’s girlfriend, kira?’
and lydia feels like an idiot for believing the gossip and then she realises that maybe stiles really was trying to make a move on her w/ the slow dance
scott is like ‘yeah, dude’s been in love w/ you as long as i’ve known him. he just thought there was no way everyone wouldn’t realise you were way out of his league eventually’
stiles and lydia get their heart to heart where stiles apologises, they both get to confess their feelings, and then kiss in the rain for the true cliche ending
