Slipping Away
I would have walked a hundred miles
With broken shoes and tortured smiles
I would have gone the distance too
If it meant the world to you.
I would have fought a thousand fights
Been put through all the flames and rites
I would have suffered to the end
Just because you were my friend
But as I turn to you behind
Weary to find a smile, kind
I’m all alone, my back is bare
And you don’t even seem to care
We made a promise on that day
No matter what, this close we’d stay
But now I’m here, and you just fly
Leave me and hardly say goodbye.
I’m tired of being the only one
To fight for this, while you just run
You say you love me, but that’s not true
A friendship lost, resentment grew.
I don’t know if we’ll make amends
And once again become good friends
But if we don’t, I’ll miss you so
Taking care of me, I go.
I wonder if you’ll notice me
Slipping away, before you see.

And she knew with every fiber of her being that she'd never come back. She was shutting down. Slipping away.

I keep on slippin' away
I keep on, keep on slippin' away
I keep on slippin' away
I keep on, keep on slippin' away
I just wanna be what you deserve
Know I gotta show what you are worth
All I wanna do is make it work with you
I just wanna be what you deserve
Know I gotta show what you are worth
All I wanna do is make it work with you
I keep on slippin' away
I keep on, keep on slippin' away
I keep on slippin' away
I keep on, keep on slippin' away

A WORD FROM THE GIRL WHO SITS LIFELESSLY ON HER BED
being useless is incredibly annoying I flip the page of a book I pretend to read
keeping myself busy, filling a hole inside the crack in my mind which is forever dripping
losing myself as the drip continues leaking onto the white tiled floor
dragging myself, using all of my thumbs, the dirt making a home in my nail beds
I don't even feel like getting out of this but I know if I stay put I'll implode into my own body
words don't have to make sense, my life doesn't either but there is a sense to change the way I go about
is the sense weak or is the promise of salvation nonexistent?
sinking deeper into the hole, I let it consume me now
but I can't have the Earth fall on me because they're all watching my every move
ready to impale their insectile spearheads into the soft flesh of my heavy being
the words they flutter through me, gone with the wind, I'm translucent and unable to keep them in me.
in a world with no unanimous rhyme or rhythm, what do I even know on how to act?
my childhood memory dig holes into me, my childhood I want it back
lacking the trust to accept that stretched-out hand, for it was the one who pinches and slaps
a cycle of climbing, then slipping. climbing, then slipping. climbing, then slipping.
forever, slipping.

It's Always When I Sit Down to Write
It's always when I sit down that my beard starts to itch.
It's always when I sit down that I notice my shelves are dustier than normal.
It's always when I sit down that I notice I only have two and a half bottles of water to drink while I write.
It's always when I sit down that I notice my room is too hot.
It's always when I sit down that I want to exercise.
It's always when I sit down that I want to make something to eat.
It's always when I sit down that I'd like to spend the day playing video games instead.
It's always when I sit down that I'd rather mend relationships with my family.
It's always when I sit down that I cut my hand and need to take care of the accidental wound.
It's always when I sit down that I can't find the right music.
It's always when I sit down that my lips are chapped.
It's always when I sit down that I can't find my glasses.
It's always when I sit down that I don't have the right lighting.
It's always when I sit down that my glasses need cleaning.
It's always when I sit down that I notice just how unvacuumed my floor is.
It's always when I sit down that I remember that I forgot to take my vitamins.
It's always when I sit down that I decide to plan a future.
It's always when I sit down that I realize I haven't spoken to an old friend in a while.
It's always when I sit down that I start planning to have a 9-5, instead.
It's always when I sit down that I start listening to someone else.
It's always when I sit down that I give up on my dream.
