Since Asajj Ventress appeared in recent media and is set to appear in future shows and Star Wars content, I've seen a lot of people starting to read Dark Disciple. but besides that book, there are so many stories featuring Asajj over her 22 years of existence. So if you are looking for some recommendations and entry points to Asajj outside of the TV shows, here are some recommendations to get to know her a bit better, in both the Canon and Legends timelines:
Tumblr media
(for anyone looking for a definitive list of everything she's ever been in, I also have that)
for anyone looking for just the list of recommendations without all my babbling, scroll down to the bottom, it'll be there.
Canon
Tumblr media
Dooku: Jedi Lost Audiodrama - Script by Cavan Scott, preformed by full cast (also available in Script format) Starting off, this masterpiece. Telling the dual story of Asajj and Dooku, Jedi Lost is genuinely some of the best Star Wars content out there, in my opinion. Taking place early in The Clone Wars, it tells Asajj's journey battling her ghosts and uncovering her Master's history. It requires only the context of the prequels and The Clone Wars, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who likes the Prequels, Dooku, or Asajj.
Tumblr media
Brotherhood - by Mike Chen Continuing with the book that serves as an introduction to Asajj in canon (chronologically), Brotherhood presents an interesting take on her first meetings with Anakin and Obi-Wan. She's far from the main character here, only supporting the book's plot as the villain and the initiator behind some of the troubles Obi-Wan faces on Cato Neimodia. This Asajj is more calculated, working behind the scenes while still facing off face to face against Obi-Wan and Anakin, and it uniquely handles her character. The book is a Clone Wars adventure taking place before and it requires only the movies' and TCW's context, once again. *While technically taking place after Hyperspace Stories #5, it contradicts that issue's events and makes more sense if it takes place before, so I listed it first (for more info on the contradictions you can go here)*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories #5 - Written by Amanda Deibert, with art by Riccardo Faccini (Variant cover by Cary Nord) Taking place shortly after Anakin's knighting, before The Clone Wars show, this is a short and interesting comic story for Asajj. While tying into an over-arching plot of the series, this issue stands alone well. Simply put, Asajj is sent to retrieve a mysterious item by Count Dooku and encounters Anakin and Obi-Wan in the process. It has fun art, fun dynamics, and it's really good.
Tumblr media
Worthless - a short story from Stories of Jedi and Sith - written by Delilah S. Dawson with an illustration by Jake Bartok This one is not as set on the timeline, but we do know it takes place while Asajj is still working for Dooku. In short, without too many spoilers, Asajj falls into a pit and has to trust on a Clone Trooper's help to get out. The story is a part of an anthology, but it completely stand-alone on its own. If you can read it on its own, I recommend it, but the rest of the book is also very much worth it if you want to buy it for the story. Dawson captures a version of Asajj that rarely gets attention, before the Nightsisters, and manages to show her identity and tell a wonderful story without that tool that's often overly used (in my opinion).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader's Castle #3 - Written by Cavan Scott with art by Francesco Francavilla & Nick Brokenshire Jumping forward in the Timeline, we have another Asajj story by Cavan Scott! It has Bounty Hunting, A baby Sarlacc, pretty art, fun coloring, and Asajj. So what's not to love? Like Hyperspace Stories, Return to Vader's Castle also has an over-arching plot, but that's 4 framing pages of Vaneé being a bitch and has no effect on the rest of it. Solid stuff. (it is also the source of the first picture in this post)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sisters - a short comic story from the Age of Republic Special - written by Jody Houser with art by Carlos Gómez Next, we have a wonderful short story taking place just before The Clone Wars episode "To Catch a Jedi". In just a few pages, Jody Houser brings conflict and personality to Asajj's time on Coruscant. And there's gorgeous art.
Legends
While Legends, and especially the comics, have some of my favorite stories with Asajj, it's hard to recommend individual issues. They can be stand-alone but still connected and ingrained in the ongoing story of the comics. But I tried to hand-pick the best for introduction and knowledge of who Asajj is a character there. So I won't recommend the 12 issues she's in, I set myself the limit of sticking with the same number of recommendations I had for canon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Star Wars: Republic: The New Face of War - 2-issue Comic arc - written by W. Haden Blackman with art by Tomás Giorello Although I'm assuming you all have at least a passing familiarity with Asajj's character, introductions are still important. And, yes, Asajj first appeared in a different comic and after a month or so in Clone Wars (2003), but chronologically, in-universe, this is her first appearance. The Face of War is comprised of issues #51 and #52 of the Star Wars: Republic comic series, and although Asajj is only in the last page of #51, it's necessary context. This one isn't a must for me, but it sets the ground for her. And it's good. Giorello's art brings a unique perspective to Asajj's character, and by that I mean it may not be to some people's taste. So take your pick with this one.
Tumblr media
Star Wars: Republic #53 - written by W. Haden Blackman, with art by Brian Ching If the last one isn't a must, this one is. It is a stand-alone adventure, almost feeling like a (better) TCW episode. Obi-Wan is off to infiltrate a Techno Union base with a team of all-star legendary Jedi that are introduced, and everything goes wrong when they run into the Confederacy's best, Durge and Asajj Ventress. I say it's a must because it establishes the nature of the rivalry between Obi-Wan and Asajj, and gives us such a sense of who those people are. It also lays the foundations to my next comic recommendation.
Dark Heart - short story by August and Cynthia Hahn This one, a 1784-word story, originally published on Wizards.com as a part of The Living Force roleplaying campaign, is definitely not a must, but it's barely 2k words, just read it. In all seriousness though, it captures Asajj's essence and I just. love it. You can read it right now, that's the link in the name, it's up online for free legally. While it is a part of the RPG campaign, I read it individually and had no trouble at all.
Tumblr media
The Cestus Deception - by Steven Barnes (The Japanese cover is prettier and has Asajj, ok?) Obi-Wan Kenobi and Kit Fisto head to the planet Ord Cestus to try and convince Ord Cestus's government to ally with The Republic. But under the surface, a mysterious scheme had developed and it gets messy. Never ask me to write a publisher's summary. Asajj is the villain of this one, and I don't have much to say about it, but it is good. Fair warning: it hasn't aged the best in my opinion, and not even in a politically correct sense, some of the descriptions and relationships were questionable at best. If you like Kit Fisto and political adventuring and Clone Wars fights and a mascarade ball, if I remember correctly, this one's for you. It's not much of a story for Asajj but it is a fun read.
Tumblr media
Star Wars: Republic #60 - written by W. Haden Blackman with art by Tomás Giorello I have never ever not once said it but this right here is my favorite Asajj story of all time ever. It does require context, though, so here's it: after the battle of Jabiim, Alpha-17 (Legends Arc Trooper, you may have heard of him) and Obi-Wan (a staple in Asajj's stories, he needs to gtfo women's business) are blown up and declared dead. Turns out Asajj Ventress has been holding them in her castle on the planet Rattatak and this is the daring story of their escape. In this issue, Asajj's origin story is revealed, before the Nightsisters had anything to do with her. More than any other Legends issue, it differentiates greatly from anything you know about Asajj in TCW/Canon. She's a warlord, with armies at her beck and call, a military commander, And it's fun. Her origin story is told in this issue, and it's such a great story that shifted my understanding of her a lot. The art, once again, is by Giorello, keep it in mind.
Tumblr media
Yoda: Dark Rendezvous - by Sean Stewart (Japanese cover, once again) Last but certainly not least, the Legends Clone Wars book I've heard the most positive reviews of, and was not disappointed in the slightest. It is as good as they say. The story doesn't focus on Asajj, and she isn't even the main antagonist, but she gets a meaningful role in it and has her place and her arc in the story. It's also my favorite approach to how Asajj would act when she has to deal with children. Worth the hype and an excellent book to read unrelated to Asajj.
Alright, that's all! I hope you check out at least one of these, they're all great. As said before, I also have a complete list of everything Asajj in chronological order. Feel free to ask me anything about the list and the things in it. I can also give a complete comic reading list for her, since it's a bit more than just the issues she appeared in. For anyone struggling with the accessibility of these recommendations, I have a hopefully comprehensive guide in the complete appearances post. And now just this list because I promised that:
Canon 1) Dooku: Jedi Lost Audiodrama - Script by Cavan Scott, preformed by full cast (also available in Script format) 2) Brotherhood - by Mike Chen 3) Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories #5 - Written by Amanda Deibert, with art by Riccardo Faccini (Variant cover by Cary Nord) 4) Worthless - a short story from Stories of Jedi and Sith - written by Delilah S. Dawson with an illustration by Jake Bartok 5) Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader's Castle #3 - Written by Cavan Scott with art by Francesco Francavilla & Nick Brokenshire 6) Sisters - a short comic story from the Age of Republic Special - written by Jody Houser with art by Carlos Gómez
Legends 1) Star Wars: Republic: The New Face of War - 2-issue Comic arc (Star Wars: Republic #51-52) - written by W. Haden Blackman with art by Tomás Giorello 2) Star Wars: Republic #53 - written by W. Haden Blackman, with art by Brian Ching 3) Dark Heart - short story by August and Cynthia Hahn 4) The Cestus Deception - by Steven Barnes 5) Star Wars: Republic #60 - written by W. Haden Blackman with art by Tomás Giorello 6) Yoda: Dark Rendezvous - by Sean Stewart

chapter four
author's notes: I was discouraged with the fanfic and insecure but I rewrote it and here it is
warnings: loneliness ?? light flirting
Darth Vader's castle on Mustafar was huge and lush. But you never cared about that. But now, you hoped that all that greatness would help her avoid him. And also, Vader always had a lot of tasks, or someone was talking and talking in his head, or he was meditating, or...
But there was never enough time for you. And you were tired of it. And knowing that he was in the company of another woman increased his insecurity. This insecurity made you act like a child.
You knew and felt that he was looking for you, but you always turned away, entered another huge corridor when he came marching around. This was testing his patience.
You continued to ignore the communications he sent you, not starting by asking but then ordering you to meet. And to avoid meeting him, you didn't even leave your room, but that was okay because it was big enough. You even had a view of that lava sea. Wow.
And when you went out it always had to be in the company of some stupid Stormtrooper. Being alone gave you time to reflect on many things, even the Stormtroopers and their boring lives.
Wearing that outfit, everyone was so equal and seemed to have no emotions or opinions. Well, that's what you thought until you met one Stormtrooper in particular - Jamie.
- Today I will accompany you on your walk - He said, in your first contact, with the blaster in his hand but not scary.
You sighed and rolled your eyes but you were tired of being hidden, Vader wasn't looking for you and being alone only brought you bad feelings.
- Come on, I promise it won't be that bad - the soldier nudged you and walked ahead, you found it curious but funny.
And maybe it was the loneliness and lack of friends, but shortly after you were opening up and telling about your security to a Stormtrooper, who until then was a stranger.
- So... - You took a breath to continue, you were in dining area and he gave you some water - Thank you. Can I call you Jamie?
He seemed surprised by the question and laughed.
- I'm not used to nicknames, just my identification number. But if that's what you want...
- Thank you for accompanying me on my walk, as this is not the main activity of a Stormtrooper - You say a little embarrassed, knowing that you are taking up his time.
- It's true, I was trained to be a warrior and not a tour guide, but I'm going to try to do well at that too - You laugh together at the worried way he says - but don't worry, because of you, I'm having a great afternoon!
You didn't know if he was lying but that really touched you.
- Thank you Jamie... You know, sometimes I feel like I'm left over here, that I'm nothing more than a title for Darth Vader's wife.
- You are much more than that. You are Darth Vader's wife for many reasons.
You smile because he looked like he was trying to comfort you. But especially these last few days, you had low self-esteem.
- It is serious. Everyone talks about you here. About how smart and compassionate you are. And I know Lord Vader loves you - he continues.
- I don't know - You think out loud.
You give him the glass of water back and wait for him to return so they can continue their walk.
It's not like there was much to do, but you liked walking down the halls and handing out compliments, seeing how everyone was doing at their job, if everything was going well, and encouraging them to keep going.
- Jamie - You called him and he looked at you, he had really picked up the name for himself - In a short time you praised me more than my husband...
- Madam, sometimes he has difficulty expressing his feelings. Don't take it personally. I know you are important to him - he says.
- Is it Jamie? I'm upset with him. But I also can't express myself. He doesn't seem to want contact at the moment.
- Maybe he's going through something difficult right now. Continue to show your love and affection to him. Believe me, he can see that.
Jamie seemed so sure in his words, more sure than yourself. For a moment it's as if you had no reason to be like this, but your heart hurts so much.
- I try to understand... but it's also difficult for me. I need to feel loved - you open up.
You feel the Stormtrooper's hand on your shoulder, making you stop walking. You are in a corridor where there don't seem to be many people passing by.
Jamie takes off his helmet, revealing his face. He was a young man with fair skin, black hair and blue eyes. On his handsome face he carried a burn, probably from the battlefield.
- If he is unable to show you his love, pay attention to small gestures. A look. One word. Maybe, that's his language - His voice without the helmet sounds so deep and loving, and it makes you sensitive - Can I give you some advice?
- Of course, say it.
- Your happiness should not depend on Vader, or anyone else! You are strong, intelligent and independent. You have to find your own happiness in small gestures and in yourself. This is the only way to find genuine happiness. It doesn't depend on anyone else. You understood?
Those words from the man made your eyes fill with tears, which you couldn't hold back. The Stormtrooper surprised you and even though it wasn't allowed - you both knew damn well it wasn't - he hugged you.
-Everything will be fine, I promise-Jamie assured you, close to your ear.
You continue in silence sobbing and leaving all your tears on the boy's chest.
- No one should go through this. You're not just Darth Vader's wife. You are a formidable, intelligent, and so beautiful woman! You deserve all the love and affection in this world - He seems disgusted to see you cry when you stop hugging each other.
- D-Do you think I'm beautiful? - Not just beautiful, you are a queen - Jamie praises you with a wide smile.
You blush and your whole body heats up, unaccustomed to being praised like that.
- Thanks. You really made my day, but I think we better go back now - you says embarrassed.
You stay in a comfortable silence but your face remains red. As he approaches his quarters he says:
- If you need me, I'm always here to talk or just spend some time.
- So can I make you my personal guard? - you joke but he agrees.
Before you can say anything you hear the sound of heavy footsteps, those unmistakable boots, that unmistakable robotic breathing. It was him. And he was coming to you.

With OBI-WAN KENOBI to premiere in just a few days and with all the incredible interviews with Ewan and Hayden, I have really been back in an Obi-Wan & Vader mood, so join me in crying about these two idiots and how much their story is a love story, in whatever form that takes. This set of STAR WARS recs focuses on Obi-Wan and his relationship with a fallen Anakin, whether that be a confrontation that goes a little differently or Vaderkin running around with That Face causing trouble or dream connections or Force ghosts who deal with Vader’s actions or alternate universes where they’re stuck together after Mustafar, all of it aimed to be set on the relationship between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader because apparently I like crying and having my feelings hurt. Cry with me, you guys! STAR WARS FIC RECS: OBI-WAN & VADER RECS: ✦ Cold by Yesac, obi-wan & anakin, 5.4k    Luke wasn’t the only one that Obi-Wan visited after he died. ✦ Answers by Selena, obi-wan & anakin, 1.9k    Vader broods on Obi-Wan Kenobi. ✦ hey sister, do you still believe? by snicklefritz, obi-wan & ahsoka, 1.5k    Four years after Order 66, Obi-Wan has an unexpected (but not unwelcome) guest on Tatooine. ✦ Everything You Wanted by obaona, obi-wan & anakin + background anakin/padme, 11.3k    A RotS AU. Anakin Skywalker as a tragic hero
Tumblr media
To be an Anakin apologist about it haha there are a lot of Takes recently because of the new show that seem to be missing an important POV about his role in Star Wars. Everyone's interpretation is valid but this is another to consider! Re: the concept of Fate in Star Wars as a genre of Tragedy.
Anakin was a demi-god and literal agent of the Force's Will (as per the actual narrative he was conceived from the Force to fulfill a prophecy). He was tortured by his tragic fate to enact the Prophecy (balance the Force). This prophecy ended up being predictably misinterpreted by the Jedi (hence the Tragedy genre) to mean "end the Sith" when it ended up meaning "end the Sith & the Jedi". This was Yoda's entire realization in RotS and why he painfully & memorably admits, "Failed, I have." So caught up was the Council in attachment to the war's outcome, to being warriors, to the Senate's will, to ending the Sith, that the Jedi forgot their principles.
The Sith, naturally, also failed. They manipulated and groomed Anakin from childhood - proving their evil.
Anakin was DESTINED to fall no matter what he tried (hence the genre of Tragedy), because he was DESTINED to enact the prophecy based off the actions of the Galaxy itself & Republic & Sith.
Anakin Skywalker is a tragic hero because his "heroic" destiny was to be an antagonist - to both the Jedi and the Sith until the Force was balanced, which, ultimately, was something the Force~ determined to be a necessary action - not him.
Anakin both is and isn't the Force, Anakin both is and isn't Vader. Microcosmically he has a crisis of personality, but macrocosmically his personality struggle is representative of the Force's response to the actions of the Galaxy at large. He is presented narratively as a messianic figure. He is not entirely human and not entirely beholden to human concepts of morality. He is a reactionary gauge of the moral health of the Galaxy as surely as he is an individual - and this is something he struggles with immensely. His human soul struggles with his fate and the tragedies that befall him and handling them. He is also not entirely in charge of his own free will.
His own free will is actually secondary and although his actions are important because he propels the narrative, from this POV Star Wars is ultimately about the other characters' reactions to Anakin as an agent of fate - Anakin is essentially the Old Woman appearing at the Castle in Beauty and the Beast, and the Jedi, Sith, Galaxy, and his friends are the people tasked with letting him in from the cold.
They almost all fail this test and display the darkness of the Galaxy towards the Innocent: Anakin was enslaved as a child, his mother murdered, the so-called compassionate Light-wielding Jedi made no exceptions for him as a young boy, the Sith took advantage of and manipulated him, Padme & Obi-wan had their own issues and were unable to see him entirely for who he was etc etc. This isn't to say they were all bad or even bad people at all! Or that the Jedi were bad~. But they failed the test anyway.
From this literary POV: Anakin was a test from the Force. And the Galaxy failed. Yet, despite this, Anakin's human half still fought for them, he was desperate to be a Jedi & truly believed in them and even returned to be one after the Prophecy was fulfilled and he was finally free. He mourns Padme (even as Vader) and cannot truly ever let go of Obi-wan as his partner (because he doesn't want to). His human half also burned for 20 years in the purgatory sarcophagus of Vader (it needed to "pay" for the human evil he took to enact the Prophecy).
Anakin wept when destroying the Temple and falling to the Dark. He knew becoming Vader would bring pain and suffering. He did not want to fall. Yes, he made choices that ensured he would because of his circumstances, but the tragedy is any of his choices would have lead him there. He was meant to fall in both the eyes of the Sith and Jedi, and to cast the Force's will upon them. This is why he was allowed to be a Force Ghost and reunited in everlasting life with Obi-wan. Because he was a tragic hero not a true villain.
Anakin Skywalker is a tragic hero who was in fact a slave his entire life. He is a tragic hero because his actions taken as per destiny (The Force at work) were engineered to cast him as a villain. No, he wasn't "evil" and yup... one could even argue... neither was Vader as a demi-god (though of course he commited evil). Anakin/Vader was merely an, sometimes unwilling, sometimes willing, always-tortured agent of the Force. One to be helped (Anakin) or defeated (Vader) as per the Force's test for the Galaxy.
This isn't anti-Jedi, either! Anakin loved the Jedi. You could argue importantly that the Force wanted the Jedi to prove themselves post destruction. It wanted the Galaxy to stop fighting one another (the War!) and focus on the true evil right under their nose (the Sith). It even gave them a target... Vader. One who stole their former future (symbolized by the younglings). And was then regifted as a second chance by Luke and Leia (younglings who represented a new Senate and Jedi Order) by Anakin.
For these reasons Anakin Skywalker is a tragic hero. He is not a villain and was not inherently evil, his destiny, one he fought valiantly against, was tragically to be an antagonist.
This meta isn't to say other's interpretations of Anakin's fall are wrong. They are all valid and fascinating (and often complement one another) - but this is simply another to add to the pile. One to consider when looking at the lore of Star Wars through the lens of the macrocosmic lens of "Fate" in a Tragedy.

My Definitive Top 10 Favorite Characters
Tumblr media
Number 1. Sauron (Lord of The Rings) - The Original Dark Lord. A fallen being of great power, obsessed with order. The enemy army is his army, Mordor is his kingdom, the Nazgul are his servants, the One Ring is his power source fueled by a fragment of his own soul that tempts and corrupts all who bear it, his eye shines its malevolent gaze upon the world with the intent of ravaging and conquering all that it can see, and the entire story is caused by his machinations. Whenever I look back at Sauron as a villain and character, I end up remembering why he is as infamous as he is. A great villain sometimes can just be a genuinely terrifying presence.
Tumblr media
Number 2. Ganon (Legend of Zelda) - Honestly after so many years, Ganon still holds up as a villain. Ganondorf Dragmire was the biproduct of a curse created by Demise to ensure that his hate is reincarnated just so he can destroy Link and Zelda’s descendants, and Ganon himself was born as the only male in a desert that belonged tribe to warrior women known as The Gerudo, eventually ending up as their king thanks to Gerudo traditions. Ganon had a huge presence in Ocarina of Time, manipulating you into locating the Triforce and immediately took over Hyrule during your time skip. In Hyrule Warriors, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and A Link To The Past, he adapts in some form either that be because of genuine character development, an ego increase, or a desire for revenge. However in Breath of the Wild, the end of all three timelines, we think that he fully succumbs to Demise’s curse and became a being of pure hate known as Calamity Ganon, who basically almost destroyed Hyrule 100 years ago. Then in Tears of The Kingdom we learn about his first incarnation, the ambitious Gerudo turned Demon King that ravaged ancient Hyrule and got sealed away for generations under Hyrule Castle, who came back to life 5 years after Calamity Ganon was beaten, and tried to turn Hyrule into a hellscape where only the strong can thrive. This exact same incarnation of Ganondorf was also behind Calamity Ganon! Overall, Ganon is a surprisingly versatile and interesting take on a evil king, combining power with intellect, tragedy, anger, class, savagery, inevitability, arrogance, and pure EVIL which is why he’s one of the greatest villains in gaming history and fiction in general.
Tumblr media
Number 3. Emperor Palpatine (Star Wars) - Palpatine is easily one of the best villains in cinema, even as Star Wars has gotten to be more of a hotter topic over the years. In the first two movies of the original trilogy he only appears once, is only mentioned as “The Emperor,” and based off what we heard from Vader after he chopped Luke’s hand off, The Emperor sounds like a bigger and scarier dude than Vader. Then Return of The Jedi happens, and we see that he’s just a frail old man, yet he somehow manages to not only have Vader under his thumb, and based off what we see in the climax of the movie, it was primarily based off manipulation and not the force lightning he shoots out of his fingers, which already places him in a scary ass position in comparison to Vader, combined with his command over a literal empire. Then the Prequels and subsequent content expanded upon how he rose to power and how he basically groomed Anakin Skywalker into becoming Darth Vader. He's careful planner and a powerful man with big goals, and the best part of it is that he rarely appears onscreen and lets those under him do his dirty work, yet his presence can be felt 24/7 because he's the one constantly pulling strings within the era of the Republic, within the Empire, and within the First Order, and you can believe it. I am not as much of a Star Wars fan as I used to be, but I will admit that Palpatine has aged well, even as he literally got raised from the dead for the sequels.
Tumblr media
Number 4. Sephiroth (Final Fantasy) - Sephiroth is one of the hardest bosses in gaming and a genuine horror villain. He is a tragic monster born from science, and a loyal “son” fo his alien mother, Jenova, but he’s still scary as hell thanks to his god complex, unlimited strength, ethereal vibes, years of experience, his ability to live off of pure spite just so he can make the lives of his enemies (and Cloud) complete hell. His appearance in of itself is creepy due to how beautiful, yet unsettling it is, thanks to his silver hair, green snake-like eyes, and perfect physique which is complimented by a black coat. However the most dangerous things about him are that he’s completely delusional, his strength is unmatched, and just how far he’s willing to go to distort other peoples sense reality, specifically Cloud’s sense of reality. Sephiroth a tragic character and a phenomenal villain.
Tumblr media
Number 5. The Golden Witch, Beatrice (When They Cry) - Good god this lady is great. A scary, tragic, and fun witch who narratively serves as the scapegoat that hides a more horrific truth.
Tumblr media
Number 6. Bowser (Super Mario Bros) -Bowser is a genuinely great villain who is both versatile and fun as hell. Sure, there are a crapton of underrated villains in the Mario series, but no matter what you cannot really hate this guy. He’s a giant fire breathing turtle-dragon who’s a evil king, but he’s also a meathead, arrogant as hell, has very cool boss fights, is a surprisingly good father to his kids, an amazing protagonist and ally, as shown in games like the Paper Mario Series, and Mario & Luigi Series, occasionally scary as shit, not to mention he’s one of the more likable villains in gaming. Also let's not forget how terrifying he is in Mario Party with his friendship destroying mini games and mechanics. So yeah, Bowser’s a cool character and fun villain. He’s also my Smash Bros main.
Tumblr media
Number 7. Xemnas (Kingdom Hearts) -This guy is to this day one of the best Disney villains ever. Xemnas is the nobody of the Seeker of Darkness, Ansem, his husk given sentience, an entity that can feels nothing and wasn’t meant to exist, yet he’s quite the specimen and one of the most consistent character in the series. He’s a very sinister figure due to his nature, the fact that he’s a special nobody like Roxas, his inability to feel emotion, and his belief that negative emotions are what give the heart power, but at the same time you somehow manage to feel pity for him because of these things. While what he does is his own choice, you can clearly see that while he’s a different entity from his human self, he still chooses to go in that hollow shadow because it’s in his own nature, and it ended up being his downfall. That and his boss was truly a test of your skills. TL;DR: Xemnas is amazing.
Tumblr media
Number 8. Slave Knight Gael (Dark Souls) - An old slave knight from the age of fire, literal cannon fodder, not only outlives the gods, but goes on a quest to get the Dark Soul so that The Painter, his niece, would paint a new world. You get familiar with him in the Ashes of Ariandel DLC, and by the time of the Ringed City DLC you see that Gael has slipped into madness and stands atop literal desolation. At first he fights on all 3's, only using his sword as a weapon as he jumps and crawls around, but after his guts are cut open and he gets the power of the dark soul, he truly begins fighting like a man and will occasionally rely on the newfound power he has to strike the Ashen One down with magic. Still at the end of the day... this fight is just between two nobodies who outlived the gods.
Tumblr media
Number 9. Cell (Dragon Ball) - Cell is a Perfect villain. He’s got the traits of 3 main villains (Piccolo, Vegeta, & Frieza), along with some Goku elements in the mix, and it makes sense when you remember that he’s an android with the cells of the universes strongest fighters. Also he’s got the ability to absorb people, can perfectly copy techniques that would take years to learn, has quite the suave and charming personality in his perfect form, is extremely funny and snarky sometimes, is terrifying a lot of the time, and overall Cell was designed to be the endgame villain of Z, before Toriyama was asked to write the Buu Saga. Not only that, but he's got a surprising amount of psychological depth too for what is basically a pure evil killer bio-android made from the Cells of many different warriors, which makes him a full reflection and deconstruction of how Toriyama wrote his previous villains. In short, Cell WAS the final boss of the main campaign of the series until the Buu Saga and the continuous milking of the series. In short, Cell was, and still is, the PERFECT Dragon Ball villain from start to finish in terms of concept and execution.
Tumblr media
Number 10. The Joker (Batman: The Animated Series) - The Joker is one the greatest arch-foes fiction because of how well he compliments his heroic adversary. Batman is a dark, brooding, frightening figure with a semi-demonic visage, yet he is a hero dedicated to the cause of justice and protecting the innocent citizens of Gotham City. The Joker is a bright, colorful, exuberant and funny clown, something that's supposed to bring joy and laughter to others, yet he is a nihilistic, psychopathic criminal whose only goal in life is to spread death, destruction and chaos through Gotham City because that's what brings him joy and laughter. B:TAS understood the assignment and provided the definitive iteration of The Joker, completely inspired by his early comic appearances and some elements from Jack Nicholson's take on the character. An ex-mafioso turned Clown Prince of Crime that lives to only spread misery across Gotham in the most creative way possible with a smile on his face. That was the idea that Paul Dini and Bruce Timm ran with when conceptualizing this bastard, and they just explored the concept for all its worth. Not only that, but this was the first time that Mark Hamill ever voiced this bastard, and it was just perfect casting. Overall, I can easily say that without a doubt, this is the best Joker.

Overcoming Fears
Darth Vader x Reader
Chapter Ten
———————————
After Vader heard about what happened with that one stormtrooper, it wasn’t long till almost the entire castle knew. Every single squadron of Stormtroopers feared Lord Mira more than Vader now, afraid of the same fate as the Mocker. Which was what they called the poor man.
Mira hadn’t been seen since the Storm Trooper ‘Explosion’, as she had been in her room, resting her leg. Mira knew the cuts and burns on her leg wasn’t heeling, and Terra had said the same thing when she had come to assist her.
That day you had to show Perseus where another unit was on the same floor as Lord Mira and Darth Vader’s quarters. You were around 6 floors down, but thank the maker for elevators. Is what Perseus always said.
The two of you took a step into the elevator, Perseus hit the button to the correct floor, being closer to the panel and the wall. He placed his heavy bag on the floor between the two of you, briefly fixing the collar of his uniform as the elevator began to move. You hadn’t gone but a floor up until it came to halt. The doors opened with a creak. Terra stepped in, glancing to you as she stood next to the wall farthest from you and Perseus. You glanced over to her, before looking back to the door as out of the corner of your eye you could see another figure entering the elevator. His heavy boots echoed as they hit the hollow floor. His breathing filled the small room. Vader stepped in beside you, glaring down to you through the dark lenses of his mask.
“What floor, My Lord?” Perseus asked, stepping back to the panel and looking up to Lord Vader. His mask tilted to him, looking to the panel.
“We will be heading to the same floor, Officer.” He replied, turning his head back forward. Perseus nodded, stepping back next to you. Vader was accompanying Terra to visit Lord Mira. She hadn’t been able to move around very well, and even now she was unable to even put pressure on her leg. She was a very powerful sith, yet even Vader would admit she was proud, but she was still human.
The doors shut once more. The elevator shifted as it moved once again. The four of you stood in an awkward silence, not even getting two floors up before the elevator jerked to a stop. It made you, Terra, and Perseus loose balance for a moment, without falling. Vader still stood stiffly, as if he had caused it.
“What was that?” Terra asked, glancing between you, Perseus, and Vader.
“The elevator has broken down.” Vader spoke.
“Well can’t you just lift us up with the force or something?” Terra snapped.
His head quickly turned, looking down to her.
“If I am to lift the elevator up, it will only break it further. Only a simple wire malfunction has occurred which must be fixed from the outside.” Vader snapped.
“So this isn’t your first time stuck in an elevator, is it My Lord?” Perseus joked, looking up to him. His helmet turned back to his direction, without a word. Perseus laughed awkwardly at his silence, looking to the wall.
“Another mechanic will fix the elevator from the outside.” Vader scoffed, looking back towards the door.
“And how long will that take?” You asked.
“I would know if I were the one fixing it. “ Vader snapped. The three of you could tell he was annoyed, and did not plan to anger him further.
You all sat in silence for almost 20 minutes till your legs began to ache, not having moved in a while. Your back was tempting you to slouch. You assumed Perseus and Terra felt the same, as Perseus was constantly switching the leg he leaned on. Not a moment later the Sith sighed looking over to you and Perseus. The two of you returned the gesture, starring up at the tall man.
“I believe we will be waiting a while more.” He spoke with a sigh, “The three of you may sit, if you wish.” He slightly glanced back toward Terra, who seemed more pleased than you did.
“Thank you, My Lord.” Perseus nodded, stepping back to the wall behind him and plopping down. He drug his bag towards him, leaning an elbow on it. You looked down to Perseus, glancing back up to the Sith before sitting down next to him. Vader stepped to the far corner, by the door, turning back towards the two of you as if making room for Terra. She stepped towards you, sitting one a foot or so away from you on the wall, placing her bag down with her also.
Only the sound of Vader’s respirator filled the small room. He stared at the wall above you, seemingly zoned out or in a daze. You glanced over to Perseus, then Terra, before looking back to Vader.
“You don’t need an invitation, but you may sit with us if you’d like, My Lord,” You spoke. “It does seem we will be here much longer…” You knew Vader could sit down if he wanted to, but he had to show some authority not by sitting with people of much lower rank than his. But it was still worth a try.
His helmet shifted down towards you. “I appreciate the offer, General, but we should be moving shortly…” Vader spoke. “Beyond that, the three of you will be accompanying Lord Mira and I to the Imperial Base and Medical Facility on Hoth in three days.”
A confused look fell on your faces. Why were we going to Hoth? It’s one of the coldest darn planets, and definitely the opposite of Mustafar.
“You all will have simple tasks while you are there,” he continued, ”So do not see this as a vacation. Officer Perseus, you will be fixing a Mechanical Problem the facility has had for years. General
L/N, you will be accompanying Officer Perseus overall, yet you do have one scheduled meeting with another General- He is supposed to help you to present- Useful… War Tactics.” His helmet tilted to the side as he looked to you in a mocking way.
Perseus quickly glanced between the two of you, hoping to know the story of your silent quarrel. He paused before continuing, “Terra, you have already heard of your assignments and our business on Hoth-“
You looked to the Sith for a moment, before quickly shifting your gaze to the floor. You noticed He hadn’t used a title when talking to Terra, even though he had with Perseus and you. It was odd. She didn’t have the title of General or even Officer, hers would simply be The Botanist, or just Botanist-
The creaking of metal interrupted your thoughts. Perseus looked to the ceiling and the wall, searching for the source of the noise. Suddenly the elevator shifted, moving upward once again. The abrupt jerk caused Perseus’ head to be banged into the wall behind him. You and Terra smiled as you held in your laughs. He lowed his head, reaching back to rub it.
You could hear a low scoff from Vader as he turned to the door. It slid open, to the right floor this time. Terra stood, taking her bag, following Vader down the hallway as he quickly fled the elevator as if nothing happened. You stood up after her stepping to hold the door. Perseus rose, throwing his bag over his shoulder he walked out. You followed, leading him to the machine he was supposed to fix, and on the way back to your quarters, the two of you took the stairs.

Yeah, the rescue/escape from Xizor's "castle" (why in gods name are we calling things castles?) is pretty well done, if with moments that are cinematic in a not-good way. (Mostly Guri randomly wanting to fight Luke, though the droids flying the Falcon is a little overly silly.)
After that, it's back downhill. Partly because people have started teleporting again (I hate that) and partly because the protagonists have ridiculous amounts of plot armor so they can survive Xizor ridiculously having his own navy. Because of course he does.
And then, in the end, its Vader who saves them and destroys Xizor. Which feels more like a cheat than it should. (Though it's written such that Xizor could have escaped. Maybe that's what irritates me about it.)
And then, in the end, we're ready for the beginning of Return of the Jedi. Which would be fine if the book were better.
Moral of the story: when you write a book, the things in it should make sense. This book violates that repeatedly. We don't even ever get an explanation of why Boba Fett didn't go straight to Jabba's palace. People just...do stuff. So there can be a plot. And somehow almost all of the bits that tie into the movies undercut them somehow.
All in, a disappointing read. And one that didn't even answer what Dash Rendar would be like in the hands of another writer since he was barely in the book even when he was in the book.
In the hands of another writer, he's a complete nonentity?
Bah.

A Star Wars/Dracula AU
After passing many days listening to Love Song for a Vampire from Annie Lennox and thinking about how the lyrics suit Anidala perfectly, I decided to write down a AU idea (a Vaderdala one, to be more specific) that has already been in my mind for some time, inspired by the same plot of the movie Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992).
//----------------------//-----------------------//
A long time ago, the young Anakin Skywalker was once a powerful knight of the Ancient Jedi Order and one of the bravest warriors of the Naboo army, known for leading and comanding thousands of battalions in bloody wars for the conquest of territories, fighting for the protection of the Jedi Temple and spreading their holy influence.
Secretly married to the ruler of the kingdom Queen Amidala, the woman who owned his heart and soul and who he loved against all social rules and the sacred code of the religious order which he grew to respect, obey and defend, they both planned to run away to a place where they wouldn't be forced to lie and hide their feelings for each other ever again.
Sadly, weeks after Anakin was called to the battlefield again, an arrow from the enemy army was shot towards the castle, sending a false message that the Jedi were defeated and the lands of Naboo were invaded. Heartbroken for believing her beloved had died in combat, the Queen writes a goodbye letter, telling she would join him soon in Heaven and their souls would be finally united by God for all eternity, before jumping from the highest tower of the castle and falling into the river, drowing.
When Anakin returned and discovered what happened, her letter was already found and her body brought to the altar of the Temple. The Jedi told him that since she took her own life, her soul couldn't be safe and, therefore, she was eternally cursed. With the revelation of their marriage, Anakin was expelled from the Order and condemned to exile. Before he left, Anakin screamed in agony and promised he would come back from the dead to avenge his love.
Feeling abandoned and betrayed after having everything he devoted all his life to build taken from him - his name, his glory and his love - Anakin's heart, full of rage, grief and despair, chose to rejoice the light and succumb to the darkness. On his way, he's found by Sheev Palpatine - also known as Darth Sidious -, Supreme Lord of the Sith Empire and greatest enemy of the Jedi. Instead of killing the former knight, Sidious, tempted by Anakin's abilities and the burning hate that was consuming him, promised to teach the young man about the secrect arts of dark magic, including the precious gift of deceiving death, as long as he pleaged himself to him. Anakin accepted his offer and became his apprentice. He turned against the Jedi Order and, as act of revenge, helped Sidious to destroy their temple and hunt down all their members, later killing his new master as well and taking the lead of his empire.
As years went by, the fallen knight, now known as the mighty Darth Vader, started to realize that the power he so longed for actually possessed him so deeply to the point of becoming a curse, a eternal punishment. He didn't age anymore. The sunlight burned his skin. His body was pale and cold. No food or drink was enough to satisfy his appetite. His heart stopped beating. He was still alive somehow, but he looked and felt dead. He lived a human life surrouded by blood and death before, and now, blood and death are the only things he would have in his new life. Forever. As a lonely monster... a creature of shadows... still waiting for the day when the spirit of his wife, his angel, would come back to him.
Centuries later, Lord Vader, living isolated in his imposing domain on the top of the dark mountains of Mustafar, finds out that his long deceased queen is now reincarnated as a spiritous and intelligent, and equally beautiful, woman called Padme Naberrie, who is currently engaged to Palo, an young man whose name was beginning to receive attention in the art world and, at first, was hired by Vader to create a new piece to decorate his home. After seeing a small photo of Padme carried by Palo in his pocket, Vader decides to kidnap the artist and keep him captive in his castle while he travels to Coruscant to find the lady he believes to be his soulmate and make her his once again. And in the exact moment their paths cross and their eyes find each other in the middle of the streets, it feels like no time had passed at all. It was like their love was strong enough to make him feel human again. And to make her feel more alive than she ever did before.
But the dark lord's plans are threatened when Palo escapes from his prison, barely with life, and a sudden wave of mysterious murders starts to ravage the territory, apparently all caused by the same creature: a devilish, bloodthirsty beast. All the dead bodies of the victims have one detail in common: two little fang marks on their necks. Since no one is capable to understand the cause of all this killing, Ben Kenobi, famous scientist, teacher and monster hunter, is called to solve this case, but what the old man doesn't expect is that this investigation will lead him to finally face his cruelest opponent, the same monster he's been chasing for all those years.
//-----------------------//----------------------//
So it's basically this. Hope you all enjoyed 😘 I'm not sure if this story would end like in the movie or in a totally different way. What do you think? 😄
And to be sure no one gets confused:
Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader as Prince Vlad Tepes/Count Dracula
Queen Amidala/Padme Naberrie as Princess Elisabetha/Wilhelmina 'Mina' Murray
Palo as Jonathan Harker
Obi Wan 'Ben' Kenobi as Abraham Van Helsing
(Palpatine's character doesn't exist in the original plot, I just tried to find a way to include him in the story)

Star Wars: The Dark Side (Canon)
“Star Wars: The Dark Side” is a Canon reference book written by Tricia Barr that was published on December 6, 2018. Only releasing in Spain and France.
Tumblr media
Pg 75 (red page): “Surgical reconstruction of Emperor Palpatine on Coruscant. Several of the assisting droids that participated in the sophisticated surgery that saved Vader's life were later relocated to the castle, including medical assist droid DD-13, surgical droid 2-1B and medical assist droid FX-6. The latter, the FX-6, was the same droid that built General Grievous and, under Vader's supervision, continued to design and implement improvements to the Sith Lord’s outfit.”
Tumblr media
Pg 98 (grey page): “Many have been caught in the conspiratorial web laid out by the Dark Side’s thinking minds. Queen Admidala of Naboo was guided in the political sphere by Sheev Palpatine, who used his youthful idealism for his own political benefit during the crisis of the Naboo Trade Federation. General Grievous' insatiable desire to improve his combat techniques led him to accept the cybernetic implants advised by the Sith, which made him more of a machine than a Kaleesh.”
Tumblr media
Pg 181 (black page): “For this reason, the Sith enlisted acolytes with special abilities and a fierce hatred of the Jedi, such as General Grievous and Asajj Ventress. Grievous had already demonstrated his talents as a warlord on his native planet of Kalee: he hated politics, but revered being at the head of the galaxy's greatest military force. A brilliant tactician, Grievous couldn't beat a Jedi in a duel, so he agreed to receive cybernetic enhancements to boost his combat capabilities. The cyborg general led the Separatist droid army, enabling him to engage in direct confrontations with the Jedi he hated so much.”
Pg 183: “His lair contained many spare parts, and he had the advantage of being able to afford to lose a limb or two in battle: this could slow him down, but not stop him. However, Grievous' conversion to cyborg had not been perfect, as evidenced by his constant coughing. This information was stored by the Sith for possible future conversion: each repair he underwent improved their knowledge of how to use technology against their enemies.
“Deprived of their identity and renamed with a number corresponding to their entry into the ranks, the Brothers and Sisters of the Inquisitorius perverted what the Jedi stood for, using a method totally different from that of Grievous.”
Tumblr media
Pg 213 (white page): “Trained by Count Dooku in the art of lightsaber combat, the Kaleesh cyborg General Grievous killed many Jedi during the Clone Wars and kept their weapons as a trophy. Served the Confederation of Independent Systems as Supreme Commander of the Droid Army. His tactical acumen gave numerous victories to the separatist faction. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi confronted Grievous on several occasions, forging a bitter rivalry that ended with a final face-to-face confrontation on Utapau.”
“Exalted by the glory he won in battle, Grievous attached the greatest importance throughout his life to the deeds of war. He had cyborg implants added to enhance his combat capabilities.”
“Ever since he was a child, Grievous had worshipped the warlords of his home planet, Kalee: he'd seen them return from their expeditions with the spoils of war stolen from the peoples they'd conquered. He made a meteoric rise to the rank of warlord, then embarked on space conquests. Grievous soon realized that the Jedi were virtually unbeatable in duels, thanks to their supernatural abilities and use of the Force, and developed a fierce hatred for them. The Sith, who were researching technologically enhanced beings, made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Beyond boasting of having been trained in the Jedi arts, not much is known about his conversion into a cyborg or his training with Count Dooku.”

Ok but I'd kill for a Jane Eyre AU where Obi-Wan is Jane (of course, who could be so proper ?) and Anakin is Mr Rochester with a secret wife (Padmé), and a lot of drama
(clenches fist) omg with Padme driven mad by the Dark Side as Bertha????? that is such a cool idea anon
OR the "secret wife" in this AU is his "secret darkside" and Palpatine works as a servant in his castle keeping the dark side alter ego of Vader "locked in the attic" so to speak so Anakin can masquerade as an even-keeled Jedi.
AND THEN OBIWAN GOES OFF WITH THE JEDI OR CODY OR SMTH but can't deny the dyad btw he and Anakin & returns and sees that the Castle at Mustafar has been burned to the ground by Vader who finally "escaped" from Anakin's mind!
& Obi-wan fights Vader and brings Anakin back w a kiss and Anakin "regains" the sight he lost as Vader and they live happily ever after🔥✨

First.
characters: vader/sith oc count: 5.9k (approx) theme: mild angst. vader feeling Emotion. force choking, but with the wrong person (you'll read later hehe). brief hinting at sexual assault/spousal abuse. rating: t author's note: this piece is part one of many of exploring vader and keyti. it's inspired by this song as well as this piece of artwork for vader. also, ik that mustafar is highly toxic but shhhhhhhhhh. keyti's fine. keyti is my sith warrior oc who def has a lot of trauma of her own so i'm gonna explore her story a lot in the SW universe. this approximately takes place between episodes 4 & 5, following vader (2020) comic vol 3: the shu-torun war. I also know that Vader would absolutely kill her in .003 seconds after she opens her mouth, but this is for fun. I like making the funny lil warlord have feelings.
Tumblr media
Being assigned to Mustafar was strange for Keyti. She was expecting something with more action, not realizing the trust that was being placed on her for being stationed at Vader’s castle. The Sith warrior at least was able to direct those in the castle when the tunnels had begun to be worked through by a select team, making sure Sith artifacts were correctly taken care of. It was rare that other people were even within the castle, and even Vader’s assistant, Vaneé, had barely been seen lately. She knew that he had most likely brought the dark lord’s wrath upon himself, so she opted to lessen on her usual teasing and smart-ass quips on occasion.
He had noticed the change, but never addressed it to her. He truly wasn’t one for casual talking or being having those beneath his command open up to him. Still, Keyti still managed to weasel her way into his day when he was back on Mustafar. He didn’t know what to make of it when she started to make it a point to be in the landing dock when he returned, but he never inquired of it. As long as she was loyal to the Empire, he was not concerned with her actions.
Restless, the Sith moved to the lower tunnels of his fortress, silent on the dirt paths as he moved. He was aware that he was being followed, but the Force had let him know it was Keyti. She could be trusted with what resided down in these tunnels, he was sure of that. He paused at a junction, turning to look at her as she watched with a small tilt of her head.
“Couldn’t sleep either?” A grin started to spread on her lips, yellow eyes bright.
“Sleep is not required for me.”
Her yellow eyes glance over him, blinking as she pursed her black tattooed lips in thought. “Are you constantly running on caf?”
“No… is there a reason of you following me?”
Coming closer, the togruta lifted her hand to gesture down his towering frame,” you seemed like you needed a companion. I can be quiet.” The faint lighting of the tunnel bounced off her black and red frame, jewelry adorning her montrals and lekku as usual.
“Then cease your speaking.” Turning back, he headed down a corridor to get into one of the rooms that hadn’t been catalogued through yet. His cape brushed through the edges of the doorway as she watched, lowering her hand finally. He seemed to be on edge more this night than before, she noticed.
Keyti let out a gentle sigh, feeling brief pain shoot through her spine as well as the aching pain she had in her knees since the day had started. Kraffing hell. She would have to go to the med wing for her back — again. She reached beneath her robes, adjusting the brace she constantly wore before moving into the room where she saw Vader going through some books.
“Second-guessing your lingering,” he questioned, mask raising to her as he watched her tilt her head slightly.
“No. Just some pain.”
“Then you should go to the infirmary.” Simple response, nothing she hadn’t expected from him.
“I don’t want to. Not right now at least. The droids can be cranky sometimes when you wake them.” She joked weakly, moving to look over the shelves that held stored objects and texts. She didn’t touch anything, still feeling his lingering gaze on her as he watched to see for any indication of what the pain would be.
Nothing he could easily see, so his attention returned down to the book in hand. “You will be sure to go to the med wing before your next shift.” It wasn’t a suggestion.
“Yes, my Lord,” she smiled a little, glancing over to him,” careful. One might think you’re fond of me.” She grabbed a book to open, starting to flip through pages absently.
He didn’t look in her direction as she spoke, but he wasn’t even fazed by her boldness. She was always so bold around him and never frightened. Maybe he could change that, it wasn’t good for someone to be fond of him like she had started to become. That would only lead to her demise.
Within seconds of her speaking, Keyti noticed the tightness on her throat, slow and gradual as she looked over things. She didn’t seem bothered as she noticed his mask tilt slightly to look to her, maybe this was a test? “If you’re going to Force choke me, don’t be such a tease.”
Behind the mask, yellow eyes widened momentarily beneath the mask as his head snapped to look at her fully before she looked over with a small smile on her lips. “What? Did I actually shock you, Lord Vader? I simply prefer my torture and death to be—.”
The grasp was tightened abruptly as he moved closer to her causing her sentence to trail off as she watched him. Yet, there wasn’t any fear in her eyes as she looked at him even as she was hovering over him. Even a fool could have been able to see the pure adoration in her eyes at him.
Was he too curious? Perhaps so, and using the Force, he probed into her mind. When she felt him there, she struggled harder to not be as aroused as she was, small choked noises coming as she reached out to his arm instead of her throat.
Even more odd of her.
The helmet tilted as he looked to her touch, able to feel her warmth as her black nails dig slowly into the glove that shielded his cybernetic. He eased on the choking, getting her gently settled back on the ground as she inhaled deeply. She still held onto him as she caught her breath, watching him a moment,” was that a test, my Lord?” As she exhaled, she only smiled at the dark lord again, yellow eyes a light.
“You’re a very peculiar woman, Keyti.”
Finally, she let go of his arm, but still stood close to him. She looked into the lenses steadily, a corner of her mouth slightly lifting,” a good peculiar, or a bad peculiar?”
“I believe it is good…”  There was a heartbeat of pause before his voice continued to rumble out,“ Why did you let me choke you?”
“I knew you weren’t going to kill me.” She simply said, shrugging as she looked to the book again she had in her other hand. “You didn’t have annoyance or anger rolling off you. Your Force signature is very noticeable when you feed into the dark side.”
“You notice my signature?”
“It isn’t hard to brush off when you’re already irritated. It’s like…. Sticky darkness wanting to corrupt. If that makes sense.” She looked up at him,” but now, since you’re not irritated or angry, your signature is still dark, but softer… still full of anger, though. Always angry.”
He silently watched her then, thinking over her words. “Your anger also makes you noticeable within the Force. Especially around my Master, I have noticed.”
“I’m sure he has noticed as well.” She said bitterly then, shelving the book back. She couldn’t even bother trying to hide her disgust for the Emperor, not even from his right hand.
Ah. A sore spot. Perhaps that could be of use. “Should he not know of it?”
“No, I want him to know I hate him…. But don’t worry, my Lord. I don’t hate you.” She patted at the steel that covered his shoulders beneath the cape, giving him a small smile,” I could never hate you.” Moving from him then, he watched her leave the room only before he was soon following after her.
“Keyti.”
She paused, looking back to him with a small noise at her name as she moving to meet him between the distance between them. Too eager to talk to him. “Yes, my Lord?”
“Why are you…. fond…. Of me?” He searched over her face as she smiled at him, showing her sharp canines as she let out a soft laugh.
“Because you’re interesting.” She knew better than to confess feelings. She was a Sith warrior, not a common civilian that could say (mostly) what they truly desired and felt.
“I amuse you?”
“You captivate me, my Lord,” a hand moved to reach up to remove some dirt that had fallen onto his shoulder but he caught her hand. The leather was smooth against her skin, and she was only sure this set was newer than some of the battle worn gloves he had. Cracked from the elements, fraying from the remnants of the battles he fought in their seams. Instead of trying to free herself, she only moved closer, voice a soft purr. “There is dust on your shoulders.”
“It does not matter…. You keep reaching out to me, why?”
“Isn’t that the big ques—“”Keyti,” he interrupted, voice holding slight irritation. “Because I’m fond of you.”
“That is unwise,” he said simply.
She felt the traces of self-hatred more closely within his signature, curiosity starting to burn in her mind. How could a figure of his authority have so much hatred within himself? Instead of asking, she got her hand moved to hold onto his, kissing the soft leather of the knuckles. She heard the mechanical whirring of his prosthetic beneath the thick fabric, eyes watching the lenses of his helmet. “It might be, but I do not fear it.”
How long had it been since someone had touched his hand? Or even gave him such small affection? Well. If one counted one night rendezvous, then not too long. If not, then it had been almost two decades since his time with Padmé. It felt like a different lifetime ago to someone that wasn’t himself. Still, Keyti stood here holding his hand and kissing the knuckles as if it was just a normal day for them.
Her voice was soft from the silence that fell over the two of them, gently squeezing at his hand,” can you feel it?”
Another pause came from him, watching her step closer as her other hand went to gently rest on his forearm. “Yes. My touch sensors are like the piece is organic.”
“How well can you feel?” Her cheek moved to sweetly rest on his hand as she looked up at him. Slow, he lets his fingers curl into hers, intertwining leather and her calloused fingers together. “I can feel warmth… textures can be a hindrance on occasion.”
“Your gloves are softer than normal. New ones?”
“I need a pair to look pristine for meetings,” he said simply,” I have pairs for battle and pairs for other activities that take my time.”
She got that kraffing devious smile on her lips again,” do you have a specific pair for choking?”
A cracked noise erupted from the modulator and it took her a moment to realize he had scoffed at that. She only grinned wider, sharp canines exposed more,” you do, don’t you?”
“No, I do not have a specific pair for that.” Humor was in his voice as she looked at him with stars in her eyes, cheek leaning against his hand once again. “I think you should invest in it. Make them look more intimidating.”
“I do not need specific gloves to add intimidation.”
“No… you don’t. Your height and… broadness, I suppose, make up for that, my Lord,” she purred out rubbing his arm gently.
She was certainly too bold and too fond of him. Yet, it comforted him. Why would it comfort him? He didn’t need someone to be fond of him. He needed power. Control. Order. Keyti was nearly the opposite of order and control, but he recognized her power she often held back from showing. She was cunning, only using force when needed by means of obedience. He did admire that about her — she never rushed off to fight or cause fear unless necessary.
“You ‘suppose’?” He could entertain her a moment, curious of how she viewed him. It was clear she viewed him differently than the rest of the crew on any of his ships or on Mustafar.
“I know I cannot lie to you easily,” she said, earning a rumble of agreement from him before she continued,” but I do not want to speak freely then be punished.”
“I do not believe the usual method of punishment would teach you any lesson in insubordination,” Vader says, finally pulling his hand back to have his arm vanish beneath the thick cape around him. “… You may speak freely if we are alone, Keyti.”
“It wouldn’t, considering earlier.” Another purr escaped her, but this time she refrained from reaching out to him again. She always wanted to touch, touch, touch. That was dangerous in itself, especially with him. She knew the risks, how she could be murdered because of it. Still, her fingers craved to dig into the quilted fabric of his biceps or hold onto the wool of his cape.
His voice pulled her from her thoughts,” you are distracted.”
She lifted her eyes from the spot they had fixated on momentarily, looking up at him. “Forgive me, my Lord. What I meant to say, respectfully, is your size is what brings intimidation the most. Height and build.”
“The true horror is beneath the suit,” he mused, causing her to blink a few times.
“I don’t think so…. But… I have not had the privilege of seeing you out of the armor…. I hope one day, I possibly can. I’m sure your eyes are beautiful.”
Beautiful? Him? Beauty was a lifetime ago for him just as his wife was. Sometimes he struggled to remember details of her or even his own face. He could rarely be without his helmet, and meditation pods were in a very short supply.
She watched the stillness of the mask with the mechanical breathing from him being the sound between them. The longer he took, the more she wondered if she had overstepped a boundary somehow. “I apologize, Lord Vader,” she murmured, dipping her head.
That caught his attention and brought him back, helmet turning to her more as she watched him. “Apologize for what?”
“It seemed as if I stepped over a line… I know that it is highly unlikely I’ll have that privilege.”
It felt like it was a gentle suggestion in the Force, a soft, ethereal voice coaxing him to open up to her. Deliberating, he straightened up, not realizing he had even softened with her holding his hand. “Follow me.”
Oh. Okay, hopefully she wasn’t going to be murdered, but understood if it was happening. She watched him move past to head up to his chambers on the top level, and she moved into the elevator beside him as he held the door open.
As the doors closed, he only gave one sentence in warning to her of the evening to come. “You will never speak of this to anyone or it will be your undoing.”
She looked at the helmet that stared at the doors, voice soft,” I wouldn’t dream of it, my Lord.” After her words, the ride was silent as she watched the floors tick by, and the doors opened to the dark hall lit by red. He motioned her out first, and she gave a small smile as she moved out, curiously looking around the floor. “Is this floor where your office is?”
“Yes, and my chambers. Elevator and doors are secured by codes. Only I and a select few can enter.” He moved down the hallway to another room, keying in a code that caused the doors to whoosh open. A gloved hand signaled her to enter, and she did, eyes adjusting to the large room that she now entered.
Oh, it was beautifully decorated. Black, silver, and red adorned the room, windows around the top letting in the glow of the lava fill the room. A mini-medical wing was immediately in front of them as he entered, locking the door behind himself. Plenty of cabinets and storage units were around the room, but she noticed there was still a bed within the room despite the bacta tank suggesting otherwise. Maybe the trooper chatter might have been right after all…
She saw another angular structure to the right, nestled in a small cove of the room to keep it mostly out of the way. He moved into the pod, holding a hand to her. She curiously came over, gently taking the offered hand as she carefully navigated in. As he turned the pod on, she flinched at the bright lights momentarily, trying to give him as much space as possible as the pod closed. As the air became purified and stabilized, he pressed another button which caused a mechanical arm to come from the center of the top of the pod.
She watched in awe as the helmet was removed with the mask, exposing the pale, heavily scarred skin of the warlord. The large wound on his head gave her worry, moving to look closer to ensure it wasn’t open and a risk to him. He watched her closely, mechanical breathing still filling the space as she leaned over for a closer look. “Is it fresh?”
“No. It has been closed for some time… it simply never healed properly due to burned flesh.”
“Same with under your eye?” She gently motioned below his left eye which only caused him to nod before yellow eyes lifted to her. Hers were soft to him, still full of adoration as she could only form a soft smile. She managed to get crouched down on the side of his chair he rested in, getting carefully settled as she leaned her folded arms on the arm of the chair. She went to rest her cheek on her top arm only to have his hand gently catch her before she could.
She lifted her head up obediently, looking up at him with a soft noise. Leather clad fingers moved to hold her jaw, thumb brushing slowly against the markings tattooed over on her cheek. “Are you not frightened?”
“Should I be?” She closed her eyes, nuzzling into his hand as she let herself soften.
“I know I’m… unsightly without the armor.”
“Who told you that? I’ll tear them apart.” She murmured without hesitation, and she looked up at him as he let his thumb brush against her lower lip. While his face still held no emotion, his eyes had grown softer towards her, features weathered from him still emoting beneath the mask after all these years.
“Do not worry about that, Keyti.” His natural voice was audible now, softer, weak seeming, but she still heard it. She watched him as she nodded, pressing a kiss to the pad of this thumb softly. “If you’re sure, my Lord…. But I won’t hesitate.”
“I am aware you would not hold back, but that is what is captivates me. Why are you so willing to lay down your life for me?”
“Everyone needs someone in their corner. Even you, Lord Vader.” Her voice melts into a purr with his thumb returning to her cheek, rubbing the skin sweetly. She relaxed, leaning into the touch again with little purrs, tips of her canines peeking out from her upper lip.
“There is still too much light in you,” he warns, moving his hand from her finally to look ahead at panels of the pod.
“You as well. I can still sense it.” She murmured, hand slowly moving to rest on his arm. “What was your life like before the Empire?” She had an idea of his identity, but she didn’t want to say a name and be wrong. However, the fighting style was still unmistakable.
“Life then was…” He paused a moment to think of how to sum it up, exhaling slowly,” different.”
“Mine is for the better.” She murmured softly, nail absently tracing the carefully stitched lines of the fabric above his bicep.
He watched her hand move, then to her, prodding gently,” difficult life in the age of the Republic?”
“Yes…. Not that it would have been better if a former Jedi hadn’t found me to train. She got me out of an… interesting situation in Shu-Torun.”
“Yes, I heard. You slaughtered your husband,” he quirked a brow to her, the scarred skin still showing it despite the lack of brow hair.
She turned quiet then, mulling over everything. “He… wasn’t good to me… and I was a child-bride essentially.” She pulled her hand from him then, looking away from him entirely.
His brow relaxed, and eyes scanned over her, humming a moment,” did he harm you?” She only nodded, but her silence caught his attention the most,” physically?”
“Any way he could,” she said softer, messing with her robes, covering inked skin. Trying to hide the scars. Hide the past. Bury it, bury it.
Watching her, his eyes fall to her hands and his heart ached. She shouldn’t have had that experience, but Maker above, that man was lucky she had slaughtered him and not Vader. At his silence, she peeked up at him, catching his gaze. From her seat on the flooring, she could only see from his nose up, but his eyes were still soft. Oh, they still held ache for her, sorrow for the past she had been through.
He held his hand out to her again, and she took it, making a soft noise at feeling the Force flowing through the air around them as he got her to stand. He used his other hand to pat at his thigh twice, and she didn’t hesitate to move herself onto his lap. She sat sideways, legs leaning over the other arm of the chair before her right arm moved around his back to keep herself there. He settled back, voice soft,” rest yourself. I can feel the pain radiating from your back.”
“It’s just my condition.” She murmured, head softly resting on his shoulder,” my spine never developed properly. I’m in constant pain because of it. The brace only helps so much.”
“Nothing aids in the pain?”
“Pain is only an agent for divulging in the dark side.”
“…. Yes, but the best power from pain comes from your emotions, not your physical pain, Keyti.”
“And what about you? I’m sure you’re in some kind of pain.” She peeked at him as he glanced to her out of the corner of his eye,” it is nothing I have not deserved.”
“That isn’t fair to yourself, Vader.”
He hummed, head turning as much as it could within the gaiter,” Lord Vader.”
“Oh, now you’re pulling rank, hmm?” She smiled a little,” stop deflecting. It’s true. If I need to get out of physical pain, so do you.” She let her eyes close, causing her to miss the hint of a smile that ghosted on his lips just barely.
He let his eyes glance over her, noticing how comfortable she already seemed to be so close to him. He moved his arm from beneath her legs, a small hum of apology from her as she lifted them briefly before settling them against the arm. Watching her settle, he let his eyes shut as he stayed in place for her. He felt her body slowly relax as she began to doze so casually around him as if he wasn’t this imperial monster. She still managed to still see the humanity within him, even as he tried to bury it down. He was hesitant to let his arm rest between her knees, the motion waking her before she grabbed his arm n held onto his hand. She let the weight rest in the crook of her belly and thighs, letting out another soft sigh.
“You are too comfortable around me,” he rumbled out, and she made a small noise,” you need someone to be comfortable with.”
“I do not require this.”
She opened her eyes finally, tilting her head to see him better. His eyes slide to the corner to watch her before moving as her hand lifted up to poke at his nose. “You do.”
“You have gotten more bold.” He moved his head back from her touch as she lowered her arm down.
“Is that a bad thing, my Lord?”
There was that pause again from the Sith Lord as his eyes moved ahead, the bright lights straining the sensitive pupils. “It is acceptable only from you.” Softness. That lingering softness that was always there for Padmé had now shifted into softness for Keyti. That was dangerous and a weakness only his Master would find to exploit and dangle in front of him — most likely with an audience as well. He didn’t realize his hand had curled around hers more as he balled the other into a fist until she made a soft noise at the pain of the grip from the metal fingers beneath leather.
He loosened the grip on her hand, eyes moving to her face that was only soft and still holding adoration for him. His thumb moved across the back of her palm in silent apology as she gave a tired smile with a reassuring squeeze to his hand. She soon dozed again from the comfort, but she didn’t wake this time when he shifted beneath her ten minutes later. He watched her closely, opting to let her stay within the bed he rarely used. He got the helmet on and secured before opening the pod, getting her lifted up. As he had suspected, she was had in fact fallen asleep. He still wondered how she could be so soft with him.
He soon got her in the bed, gently placed in the black sheets as she slowly settled in. He watched a moment as his methodical breathing filled the space in the usual increments it was paced at, and she only seemed to melt in more slowly, bunching up some of the thick comforter in her arms to cuddle. Once she was truly settled in, he finally had let himself get disassembled and in the bacta tank, slowly relaxing in the murky liquid.
Tumblr media
Waking, Keyti took a moment to realize where she was, and another moment to recognize the tell-tale breathing coming from a chair within the room. Vader was absently to the side, tapping at the tablet here and there, analyzing data from his TIE. He felt her gaze on him, and his head lifted as the helmet turned towards her.
“Finally woken, hm?”
“I can’t help that your bed is so comfortable and warm.” She slowly moved to roll onto her belly, burying her face into the pillow as she held onto it more. She noticed her brace had been removed, peeking at him past her right lekku that settled over her arm and dropped over the edge of the large bed.
“You still have duties to attend to, and it is past eleven-hundred.” The tapping on the tablet resumed as his head tilted back down,” I had my med droid remove your brace and analyze it. You will be given a new one.”
That caused her to sit up, looking at him curiously now,” you let me sleep in?” She looked to find the other, seeing it on the dark nightstand beside the bed before she got it back onto her.
“Yes. You needed the rest. Your exhaustion was striking in the Force.”
“And you also got a new brace for me?” She tilted her head, feeling like she was in a dream.
“It is in development.” She moved to stand, fixing her robes up first as she came closer to him. She let her hand softly rest on his shoulder a moment,” thank you, my Lord.” She let her fingers brush his hand that held the tablet as she moved to the doors,” and I know. Last night never happened.”
“Wise decision.” He simply said as he let her go, but his eyes had lingered on where her fingers had brushed his glove. There was that burning within his heart again, yearning for more, for her. His voice betrayed him as he spoke her name.
She paused before keying in the last digit of the code to leave, looking at him curiously. A man of very few words usually held everything to say in actions, and as she watched him slowly move his free hand up and reaching out to her. She padded closer, hand moving to his as she let her fingers brushing onto the palm of his glove. Still as soft as yesterday, but his hand buzzed with the Force. His sheer power even when stagnant never ceased to surprise her. Moving the tablet down onto the arm, he looked up to her as he held onto her fingers more, thumb brushing her knuckles. “Return to my door at twenty-two hundred.”
A soft flush came to her cheeks, nodding,” for what, Lord Vader?”
“Shared meditation time.” He rumbled, letting her hand go. She took that as the silent waiving off of her to leave, and she nodded,” I’ll return.” Standing, he moved to the door’s lock, beginning keying his number in,” your code will be granted access to my chambers. Do not abuse this.”
She followed, stopping his hand from the second to last digit of the code which caused him to look to her. “I know your expectations, my Lord. Have some faith within me,” she smiled, hand moving up to squeeze his bicep. Maker, he was very toned beneath the quilted sleeve.
He watched her a moment, and she moved her hand back, thinking she might have overstepped too far now. Well, today might be the day she actually dies.
However, he was calculating what his next move would be. Of course, he rarely had physical contact with others, but she was so flippant about it. Always wanting to touch, touch, touch. She was unsure of what her fate was as she noticed his hand lift more to softly hold her cheek. The moment of shock melted into affection as she leaned her cheek into his hand,” I won’t tell anyone.” If only she could just confess to him then and there at the black doors of his chambers. I love you, I love you, I love you. She couldn’t let it erupt from her, she could only ever formulate what she expected him to want to hear.
“I know.” He pulled back to finish the code, doors sliding open as he motioned her to exit first.
Moving out, she took a moment to remember the path they had taken, heading down the hall to get herself into the medical wing of the fortress. She felt his lingering gaze on him, glancing back before she disappeared behind a corner.
The Sith Lord looked down at his hand, eyes studying the glove before balling into a fist. Affection would not be suitable to develop. Yet, he craved her. The craving was starting to claw it’s way out of his heart, wanting to escape his throat and lips. I care about you. You’ve made my survival more worth the time and effort.
Perhaps one day, he would address this in full. This day certainly wasn’t that fateful day, and he still had a meeting to attend to, after all. Life never stopped for him now. He was always within motion, always killing, and always bringing fear and ruin. He didn’t want that to seep into her. She needed to stay soft, not sharp, jagged and broken like he had grown.
Moving his hand beneath his cape, he moved out of his room and locked it before he began to move down to the meeting room. As he walked, he was greeted by various troopers that passed him, to which all had not been reciprocated by the dark lord. Within the meeting that was a waste of time, he still stood at the chair saved for him, hands on the back as his mind was elsewhere through the boring meeting.
Keyti had gone to the medical wing, giving the med droid more accurate measurements of her body as well as seeing her spine better. Through the treatment, she only could think of the night they shared, softening on the table visibly at remembering his face. Oh, she wanted to kiss him. Bathe him in softness until he believed her, but that was simple hopes. She knew that. She would most likely be dead before she could even kiss the helmet. That was alright, she would always have her longing. Her silent, longing that never ended. She didn’t bother Corporal Amara anymore with her silly little feelings of the Dark Lord. She had felt like she always bothered her with her constant talking of him. Now, Keyti stayed silent, knowing it was for the best between her and Vader, but she could at least hold onto the softness that was the prior night.
Even if she never saw the softness and Light within him again, she would think about it a lot… too many times, really. She wanted to ignite her passion more, make it explode and feel like she no longer has to lie. The most feared man - save for the Emperor himself - had been willingly soft with her. Surely that had to mean something to her, but now there was a little voice it seemed in the back of her head. His face is familiar. Where had she seen him before? Shu-Torun? No. Nothing placed him there. Though, she did hear of the slaughtering of the royal family minus the youngest. No doubt he was involved. However, she would have loved the Sith to be there when she had been married.
She started to think of trying to place him now, the familiar eyes. He always had this air of familiarity to him, especially when she witnessed him fighting.
The droid pulled back from making adjustments, coming over to her to try the improved brace on. Getting it suited on her, she noticed that it was better than the other, basic brace she had. “Is there any way we can model it after the aesthetics of the other one?”
“Of course, my Lady. This is simply a fitting. How does it feel?”
“Better than the other. Significantly better. Thank you.”
“I am simply doing my job as instructed by Lord Vader.” The silver droid nodded to her, and she smiled,” yeah? What were his instructions?”
“To assure your comfort and support through the new brace while keeping it flexible for battle, my Lady. If you have further inputs, I can begin on enhancements.”
She stood, maneuvering around like she would when she’s fighting,” no, this seems good for now. I wouldn’t know for sure until I’m in a real battle… though, the pain is still there.”
“I could equip technology with micro needles to inject pain medication when needed.”
“Yes, do that please. I cannot falter on the battlefield.” Moving to get settled back down, Keyti exhaled softly.
This would be better…. Though, she still wanted to place the dark lord’s familiarity. Maybe one day she would. For now, she had to catch up on her duties from being allowed to sleep in. That thought was for another day.

Overcoming Fears
Darth Vader x Reader
Chapter Seven
- I didn’t think this chapter would take this long, but anyway, please enjoy!
—————————————————————
The next morning as you got into your uniform, you planned out your day in your head, thinking of what you had to do today. There was only one thing. At the end of every week you had to take any plans you had made to the grumpy old man who was in charge of a few tie-fighter squadrons. Whatever they were called. You could never remember but didn’t really mind. Only having this one task today technically meant after you finished it you could have the afternoon off.
You hurried out of your room, and to your office to get the plans. From down the hall you could see a figure swaying impatiently outside your office door. It wasn’t Lord Vader for sure. Maybe your boss finally decided to show up, although that was unlikely. As you approached the door you saw Perseus turn to meet your gaze. “Good Morning, General
L/N.” He smiled.
“Good Morning, Officer Perseus. Is there something I could help you with?” You replied as you stoped a few paces in front of the man.
“Yes, actually, I got my tasks from my boss earlier and there are a few places on here that I need to check that you didn’t show me, and he said to come to you and you would show me around for the day.”
This was great, all you wanted was the afternoon off and now you have to show him around, again. “Very well, and what is your repairing in these places?” You replied turning to punch in the code to your door.
“Well, most of the machines have either messed up and need repair, or they simply just need to be checked up on to make sure something isn’t going on that they don’t know about. Such as a part falling out of place or anything else really.” The door slid open. You stepped in, walking around your desk.
“I‘ll show you around, Officer, I just need to run something to Captain Acer first.” You took file disk out of your drawer. “What places are on your list?” You asked, looking back up to him.
He looked down to his holo pad. “It says there is a messed up targeting system in an older tie-fighter, a unit in Room S.U.25, and S.U.17. Whatever those are.”
“Well you can look at the tie fighter when I go to see Captain Acer. He will know which it is.” You walked pass him out the door, closing it as you went. He followed you down the hallway as you both headed for the bay.
“Where are the other rooms?” Perseus asked, breaking the silence.
“I don’t remember those exact room numbers but the S.U. means Sith Use, so it is probably one of Lord Vader’s rooms. Did you get a door key?”
“They gave me two, and what do you mean by one of his rooms?”
“He has his own personal quarters, it is his castle after all.”
“Well, like what?”
“If your that invested in his life, why don’t you ask him yourself.” You snapped. Yes, it was rude. But you were still waking up and we’re grumpy this morning.
“Sorry, General.” He shifted his gaze to the floor in front of him. You scoffed as the two of you walked through two large doors and into the fighter bay. You approached an older man, with light grey hair.
“Captain Acer?” You asked. The man turned to you, he looked just as tired as you were. “Here are the files and this is Officer Perseus.” You handed him the file, glancing up to Perseus who was standing at your side.
He looked over to him. “Officer Perseus, nice to meet you.”
“He is our new mechanic. He will be fixing that ship that has the targeting problems.”
“Ah, well come this way, Perseus.” He turned on his heel heading to one of the ships with Perseus following him. It was at least one minute until they returned.
“Well let’s get going.” Perseus said as he walked back to you. You turned with him walking towards the door.
“How did you fix the ship that fast?” You asked.
“That was an older ship, as I said, and has been crashed before. I’m assuming during the crash the pilot messed up the settings. It was just a few button mashes to fix.”
“That’s good. May I see the holo pad? I think I can find out where those rooms are.” He handed the pad to you. Pressing a few buttons you brought up at map, which marked the rooms. You turned down a different hallway, following the map. You still didn’t know which room was which. You only remember when you arrived to the room. Both Sith had their own quarters with their own personal rooms. Vader and Mira had a meditation chamber which no one was allowed to enter, especially while they were in there. You had been taught to stay away from these rooms, as they were the Sith’s personal quarters, which was the only reason you knew about them. Yet this time, you were allowed to go in. It was Perseus job.
You stepped to the large door staring at it for a moment. “Hand me the key card.” You commanded, handing him back the pad, he gave you the card. “This room is Lord Mira’s Meditation room, so if you want to live, don’t mess up anything. Although she shouldn’t be in there, so it should be fine.” You tuned back to the pad scanning the card. The door hissed as it slid open.
Perseus stepped in first, glancing around the room. You followed him looking to the large dome in the center of the room. It was closed. That’s just great. You had to wait on Perseus to fix a unit with a Sith Lord in the same room who was trying to meditate. Perseus stepped to the unit on the wall near the door. “Wait.” You demanded, your eyes still fixed on the dome.
“What is it.” Perseus asked, turning back to you, then to the dome.
“Should we at least tell her we’re here?”
“Well it’s only polite, this is her Meditation room isn’t it.”
“Yes, of course.” You walked toward the dome. With a sigh you knocked on the outer edge, stepping back and tucking you hands behind your back.
———————————————————
Lord Mira opened her eyes, startled by the knock. Being in her dome allowed her to channel the force much more than it would in an open area. Doing so, she was able to effortlessly hold herself up in the air with the force, along with her stacks of books. She stared at the edge of the dome for a moment before lowering herself to the floor, stacking her books in the far corner. She winced as she landed, her leg had not healed yet, and was still visibly bandaged up. Her eye had healed a bit but there was still a bad scar. She sat in her chair facing the back wall as she opening the dome with the force. The top hissed open, lifting up before the rest. She reached behind her head, unhooking her mask as it was lifted up and behind her by a cord. Her chair spun around to the entrance of the dome where you stood.
“Ah- General L/N, what is it you need?” She asked, her voice low and somewhat confused.
You bowed, “My Lord, Officer Perseus was tasked with checking on a unit, and we thought we should inform you we were in the room.” Her gaze shifted to the tall man, waiting patiently next to the unit he was supposed to inspect.
“That is acceptable.” She replied, looking back over to you. “Thank you for informing me.” You nodded, turning back to Perseus as he knelt down and began taking apart the unit. “Another question, General.”
She spoke.
“Yes, My Lord?”
“This is most likely something I should know, but how did you two get in this room?”
“Officer Perseus’ supervisor gave him the key to your quarters so he may be able to inspect the unit.”
“And what is it you are doing with him?”
“I am tasked with showing our new Officer around. He was transferred just yesterday.”
She glanced between the two of you for a moment. “Very well. Take no heed of my presence.” She pulled her injured leg over her left, turning in her seat to grab her mask behind her. You slightly turned toward Perseus, stepping back from the dome’s entrance. She turned her face, breathing in from the mask.
“I wonder what she’s breathing.” You asked yourself, “Did she have a lung problem too? Or maybe there wasn’t as much oxygen in her cube.” You caught yourself staring at the sith, quickly turning your head down to Perseus and praying She hadn’t noticed herself.
“Peppermint Scented Air, General.” Mira spoke, replying to your thoughts as she let go of the mask, having it raised up behind her.
“My Lord?” You looked back up to her, having no idea of what she said.
“Peppermint scented air,” She repeated, “It is supposed to be- calming…” she scoffed.
“Oh- I see.” She nodded.
“Oh, and before I forget.” She spoke, pushing herself up from her seat. Before taking a step, she glared down at her bandaged leg. She sighed, sitting back in her seat, looking back up to you. “Bring me both keys you got from Officer Perseus’ supervisor.”
You nodded, taking the second key from his bag and the other still in your hand, you walked up the ramp into her dome, stopping in front of her. You handed her the keys, turning back to stand by Perseus.
By the time you reached Perseus again, he retightened the last screw on the machine, standing up next to you. “My Lord, I still have to check a machine in a room that required that key. If you would rather me not inspect that unit just yet, that is perfectly fine of course, but if so, I will need to finish it today.” She stared at him for a moment.
“Which room is it?” She finally asked.
“Room S.U.25, My Lord.”
“You won’t be able to get in there.” She snapped, “I will have a word with your supervisor- Take tomorrow off, Officer Perseus.”
“Thank you, My Lord.” He bowed.
She nodded with a smirk, shifting her gaze to you.
“If you are finished, I believe we should be going.” You added, turning to Perseus.
“Yes, of course.” He turned, kneeling down to collect his things. You looked up to Mira, bowing once more before you turned to the door, waiting on Perseus. He gathered his things, standing up next to you. You opened the door, stepping out, waiting on him to close it back. Perseus bowed to Lord Mira with a smile, then following you out.
“Officer Perseus.” She spoke before you could close the door. He turned to her once again.
“Yes, My Lord?” He asked.
“Welcome to Mustafar.” She spoke, the top of her dome came down once again as her chair spun around. You closed the door, looking up to him as you both started back to your quarters without another word.

fast review of ep 3 and a few big picture thoughts now that we’re halfway through (spoilers ahead!)
the good:
THE RETURN OF THE KING (haydenkin). more fever dream/vision anakin please
good scenes between obi-wan and leia. their discussion about their respective parents was really nice
i would have liked a bit deeper of a dig into what it meant for him to give up his parents, as a contrast with anakin’s arc with his mother. obi-wan expresses sadness of having to leave them behind—are these feelings he’s always had/acknowledged? or have they only been brought to the forefront because of what happened to anakin? does he wonder if separating anakin from his mother played a role in his fall? basically how has his thinking in these regards changed?
still think reva was either a youngling who escaped the temple and resents having been a jedi/obi-wan for not killing vader, or she resents the order for never taking her in. her reaction to the carved order symbol was way too passionate/personal.
i am certain this is going to start coming out when she interacts with leia because this whole situation will somehow parallel her own childhood hang-ups
inquisitors jockeying for favor!!! fantastic
SO glad tala is a good guy
the secret bunker was v cool
QUINLAN VOS
vader burning obi-wan as revenge is 10/10 on brand we love to see it
very cool contrast of obi-wan being proficient with his blaster but very bad with his lightsaber
interesting that he lets obi-wan go at the end? just the way it was shot made it seem like he was thinking something. probably some combination of him being disappointed in obi-wan or not satisfied with how his revenge fantasy was playing out lmao
the bad/neutral:
the sets are kinda meh, just feels a bit cheap at places, which sucks because i feel star wars without good set design is like star wars without a good soundtrack lol. i think mandalorian has had the best showing for set design for live action, but overall both tbobf and now obi-wan have had underwhelming set design. vader’s castle interior was particularly bad. i’m sure it has to do with tv production constraints, but honestly this is another reason why i’ve preferred animated star wars tv this whole time.
going off of my desire to see more of obi-wan’s feelings towards his parents, in general i would like a bit more thematic callback to the prequels. what mistakes does obi-wan believe he made? how does that relate to the jedi order’s issues as presented by the prequels? does he believe the jedi made any mistakes, or is he shifting all the blame to himself? any show that purports to be about obi-wan and anakin’s relationship and anakin’s fall should honestly be discussing those issues.
anyways entirely possible we’ll get more on it, now that obi-wan has physically encountered vader
there’s a bit of flatness overall—again, i think it might be a combination of tv budget and me feeling like they’re not fully committing to digging into the real meat. i still think this show is going well though!
precocious children are tricky to write, and this show has demonstrated that lol. maybe my standards for kid character writing are higher this morning because i was watching stranger things 4 last night.
