WIP Wednesday
Just sharing this little snippet from Chapter 9 of Both Alike in Dignity:
“Ok, who saw who naked?” James asked as he and Sirius made their way to the cafeteria.
Sirius coughed and shook his hair in front of his face to hide his blush. “What are you talking about?”
“You and Remus…you were being weird.”
Sirius shrugged. “No weirder than usual.”
“If you say so,” James said, plopping down at their usual lunch table, even though it was still breakfast.

In the case of Regulus Black:
we asked you “Are you a bitchy bottom?”
You said “No”
the lie detector determined:
(…dramatic pause..)
That was a LIE.
*Crowd gasps*
SIRIUS: NOOOO!!

Revisiting the Golden Era: Exploring the Legacy of 90s Hip Hop Music
Tumblr media
The 90s were a golden era for hip hop music. The decade saw the emergence of some of the most talented and influential artists in the genre, as well as a proliferation of sub-genres and styles that continue to shape the landscape of hip hop today. From the gritty, socially conscious sounds of Public Enemy and N.W.A. to the smooth, melodic grooves of A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul, the 90s were a time of experimentation and innovation in hip hop music.
One of the defining features of 90s hip hop was its focus on social and political issues. This was the era of the Rodney King riots and the LA uprising, and many artists used their music as a platform to speak out against police brutality, racial inequality, and other forms of oppression. Public Enemy's "Fight the Power" and N.W.A.'s "F*** tha Police" were two of the most iconic protest songs of the decade, and helped to inspire a generation of activists and advocates for social justice.
At the same time, 90s hip hop also saw the rise of a more lighthearted, playful style that focused on partying and having a good time. This was the era of groups like Naughty by Nature, Digital Underground, and the Beastie Boys, who blended funky beats, catchy hooks, and irreverent humor to create a new kind of hip hop that was both entertaining and accessible.
One of the most influential groups of the 90s was A Tribe Called Quest, who helped to define the sound of jazz-infused hip hop. Their debut album, "People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm," was released in 1990 and featured a unique blend of samples, live instrumentation, and poetic lyrics. Over the course of their career, A Tribe Called Quest would go on to release several classic albums, including "The Low End Theory" and "Midnight Marauders," and would inspire a whole generation of artists with their innovative sound.
Another influential group from the 90s was Wu-Tang Clan, who emerged from Staten Island, New York in 1993 with their debut album, "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)." The album featured a raw, gritty sound that was unlike anything else in hip hop at the time, and was an instant classic. Wu-Tang Clan would go on to release several more acclaimed albums, and would become one of the most influential and respected groups in hip hop history.
The 90s also saw the emergence of a number of talented solo artists, including Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G., and Jay-Z. Tupac, who was tragically murdered in 1996, was one of the most gifted and charismatic performers of his generation, and his music continues to resonate with fans around the world. Notorious B.I.G., who was also murdered just a few months after Tupac, was a master storyteller and lyricist, and his album "Ready to Die" is widely considered one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time. Jay-Z, who started his career in the mid-90s as a member of the group Roc-A-Fella Records, would go on to become one of the biggest and most successful solo artists in hip hop history.
In addition to these more well-known artists, the 90s also saw the rise of a number of underground and alternative acts, including Mos Def, Common, and The Roots. These artists often took a more experimental approach to hip hop, blending elements of jazz, funk, soul, and rock to create a sound that was both unique and challenging.

2023 GI Joe Vehicle Wishlist
Hopefully in the coming year I will be getting more room in order to store more vehicles.
Tumblr media
Up first is the quintessential GI Joe motorcycle, the RAM.
Tumblr media
Next is a 90's vehicle that I have never owned before, the Mudbuster.
Tumblr media
The backbone of the Joe motorpool, any variation of the VAMP would be a welcome addition. I do currently have one of the Kid Connection ko one seater Vamp but I want an official one.
Tumblr media
One of the better vehicles to come out of the Retaliation line, the Tread Ripper.
Tumblr media
Hasbro's first attempt at a Humvee style vehicle, the Hammer (and it's '02 Brawler rerelease).
Tumblr media
During the JvC/VvV era Hasbro Was able to release an official Humvee that came in Desert, Night Ops, & Jungle Strike editions.
Tumblr media
The Joe's little speedboat that saw plenty of use in both the comics and the cartoon, the Devilfish.
Tumblr media
One of my favorite armored vehicles, the Wolverine (and it's slightly different rerelease as the Slaughter's Marauders Lynx).
Tumblr media
The (in my opinion) best little Helo released in the Joe line, the Locust.
Tumblr media
And finally, the one I would consider probably my favorite Joe vehicle and number one on this list. This thing used to get used in every battle I ever had growing up. Thought the Weapon Transport was intended to be just a way to move the bomb cart most of the time it got left behind. I used it as the Joes equivalent of the Cobra Ferret, a fast one person insertion vehicle.

hiya!! could i request a marauder's era ship please?
general info: i'm straight and my pronouns are she/her. i'm an enfp, a ravenclaw/gryffindor and a sagittarius. i'm a 5''3 hourglass with dark blue/green eyes and curly auburn hair.
i would describe myself as creative, fun, empathetic, witty. i'm a fairly sensitive person and will probably end up talking too much and apologising about it. i have anxiety though so although i'm outgoing i tend to overthink things and my social battery runs out pretty quickly. i'm a huge hopeless romantic and i see myself as the main character lol.
things i like: reading poetry, aggressive singing, cheesy 90's music, sunsets, philosophy. also astrology, greek mythology and meeting new people. a city person and i love second hand bookstores.

The Wolf and the Serpent - Severus Snape x Remus Lupin Omega fanfiction
My Harry Potter Omegaverse stories revolving around Alpha Remus and Omega Severus - set mostly in Marauder and First Wizarding War Era, but do have a currently on-going fic that is set when Harry is a young child. While I do take note of events that occurred in Canon, the stories are pretty much fall into the realm of AU; Prime examples being Remus and Severus are a couple AND Severus does not become a Death Eater straight out of Hogwarts AND when he does become a Death Eater, he's already a double-agent for Dumbledore. I am very open to any suggestions for stories, and any story ideas I do end up writing, you will be given full credit, and the story will be gifted to you.
Timeline for this series
(Please be advised I have changed the Marauders Era from being in the 70s to the 80s... purely because I was a 90s kid who was introduced to Harry Potter in the year 2000 and so for most of my pre-teen/teens and *cough* early 20s, I believed the entire Harry Potter series was set 2001 to 2008 rather than 1991 to 1998. Yes, even though I had the first 3 books read to me in 2000 😅🤦) 1987, Mid-November 1987 to 1988, Early June - The Moon, the Wolf and the Serpent - Chapter/s: 6/6 - Status: COMPLETE The Moon, the Wolf and the Serpent - Chapter 1 - TheWitchofStarsandSapphires - Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling [Archive of Our Own] 1988, Early June, direct sequel one-shot to The Moon, the Wolf and the Serpent - I want you. I truly do. I want you, body and soul - Chapter/s: One-Shot I want you. I truly do. I want you, body and soul - TheWitchofStarsandSapphires - Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling [Archive of Our Own] 1988, Summer/Mid-August - “We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy” - Chapter/s: One-Shot “We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy” - TheWitchofStarsandSapphires - Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling [Archive of Our Own] 1988, November - "It is impossible to manufacture or imitate love." - Chapter/s: 2/2 - Status: COMPLETE "It is impossible to manufacture or imitate love." - Chapter 1 - TheWitchofStarsandSapphires - Harry Potter - J. 12 & 13? For the fic asks thing??
Hehe thank you!
12. Do you have a playlist for your current WIP(s)? Share it!
Yes!! 90% of my Spotify playlists are fanfic related (I also don’t believe in serious playlist names) these are the three most recent ones but the others are public if you wanna have a nosey
This is for a starless sea inspired thing. It’s modern marauders, it’s a muggle au, it’s a university au, but it’s also a magical realism/fantasy au? It’ll have wolfstar and dorlene and platonic moonwater and maybe Jily or jegulus (that’s down to a coin flip)
This is for Don’t Fear The Reaper that I posted about for on wip Wednesday
This is for a canon divergent, hogwarts era fic. Your typical wolfstar being oblivious/sirius being a nuisance/remus being angsty and shutting himself off from people but failing miserably
13. How much planning do you do before writing?
If it’s just a short fic with no real plot than none, I just let the vibes take me where I’m meant to go.
If there is actual plot then loads - I have timelines of events, summaries of important plot points/convo, trackers for how much I’ve written and who’s POV goes where
For Sweet Dreams of Holly and Ribbon my planning doc was about 750 words long, and for my multi chapter wips the plans are about 1.5-2k long

WIP Wedensday
(From Chapter 10 of Both Alike, coming soon...hopefully)
Meanwhile, Sirius was putting the finishing touches on his own costume when Remus joined him. “All made up, I see,” Sirius said.
Remus snorted. “Yeah. I have way too much foundation on.” He stepped closer, fixing Sirius’s collar. “It’ll be your turn next.”
Sirius caught his hand. “Yeah. I suppose so,” he said, giving Remus’s hand a squeeze. “Still ok with telling everyone?”
They’d decided to come out as a couple at the cast party tomorrow, after their second show. “I am if you are,” Remus said, as they walked over to the makeup station, dropping hands as they went.

My thoughts on Pitchfork's 150 best albums of the 1990s; #100-#91
Reminder: three completely subjective criteria. 1: do I like it, yes or no? (Basically, is this for me?) 2: Would I recommend it to anyone, yes or no? (is this for anyone else?) and 3: Is it better than STPs "Core"? (The lowest bar. Few things are better than "Purple," but Core should absolutely be in the top 150, so that's the bar.)
100: Jim O’Rourke: Eureka (1999). Inoffensively boring and strange at the same time. It's one of those things that seems very familiar, but almost completely alien as well.
Like it: no. Recommend: no. Better than "Core": no
99: The Flaming Lips: The Soft Bulletin (1999). It's passable. Both in the "not a failure" sense and the "I'll pass on this" sense.
Like it: no. Recommend: no. Better than "Core": no
98: Smashing Pumpkins: Siamese Dream (1993). There are parts of this album that hit me very hard. I was never a huge fan of Pumpkins in the 1990s, and learning what a tyrant Corgan is makes his legacy tricky. I feel like he jerked around a lot of people and hissed at anyone else that he felt was absorbing even a sliver of his limelight. The music is good. There's that.
Like it: yes. Recommend: yes. Better than "Core": yes?
97: A Tribe Called Quest: Midnight Marauders (1993). I am listening to more hip hop as a result of this 1990s rabbithole I'm exploring. Call me biased because of my 16+ years in NYC, but I'm an East Coast rap enjoyer. And Tribe is great East Coast rap. I'm a babe in the woods when it comes to hip hop. I know I have a lot to learn, and I want to listen to more. So I will. And where I'm at right now: Tribe is great.
Like it: yes. Recommend: yes. Better than "Core": yes
96: Primal Scream: Screamadelica (1991). The only song of theirs I knew, I didn't know I knew ("Loaded" is on the "World's End" soundtrack.) This album is fine. It never blew me away. It's good driving around music, so it does evoke the 1990's for me. But I never heard what I would call "greatness." And there is like...no screaming at all?
Like it: yes. Recommend: no. Better than "Core": no
95: Ice Cube: Death Certificate (1991). I get why Ice Cube was important in his heyday. But listening with 2023 ears, this album is misogyny. I think that making songs about violence, drugs, profanity, excess, machismo, and systematic issues are vital to society and doubly so for the time and place this record emerged from. But the misogyny is so off-putting that I think this one is best left as an important influence, not something people should listen to for actual enjoyment in the modern era.
Like it: no. Recommend: no. Better than "Core": maybe
94: No Doubt: Tragic Kingdom (1995). It's hard to overstate how huge this album was. And hard for me to articulate why it is what it is. It is still full of great tracks. It's timeless, and energetic, and angry and funny and greater than the sum of its parts.
Like it: yes. Recommend: yes. Better than "Core": yes
93: Beck: Odelay (1996). It's so weird. Beck existed, and this album came out and I remember everyone saying "it's amazing! Groundbreaking! Album of the year! (though it lost to...let me see here...nominated against "Mellon Collie," "The Score," the "Waiting to Exhale Album," and it lost to Celine Dion?!?!?!?!?! Sweet merciful crap. I mean, I don't think Odelay should have necessarily won, but...come on.) Anyway. It's fun, it's weird, I like it. Probably like it more now than I did then.
Like it: yes. Recommend: yes. Better than "Core": yes
92: Autechre: Amber (1994). There were way more "lofibeatstostudyto" albums in the 90s than I realized. It's fine. Not mind-blowing.
Like it: yes. Recommend: no. Better than "Core": no
91: Weezer: Weezer (Blue Album) (1994). I don't like Weezer. I have never liked Weezer. I can tap my foot when they're playing. I know I'm supposed to like them. I'm white, I'm a geek, I'm lame. They just...meh. They're not worth the anger I like to whip up for other, more-overrated bands.
Like it: no. Recommend: no. Better than "Core": no
