Before he even knew your name or spoke to you, you were about to fall asleep. The way your eyes kept fluttering shut and opening wide again.

You had very little energy to say the least. Sometimes he would be having a friend conversation with you and you just fall asleep standing up?? He is actually very concerned.

You would fall asleep a lot and even if you weren’t in the same class, he found out. You were in for a long scolding everytime that happened (it happens a lot). It was hard to fall asleep because he was quite loud but somehow you still closed your eyes and snored right in his face.

He wasn’t sure if you were getting enough sleep at night for whatever reason he decided to invite you over after school to see what tires you out so much. Immediately after school you knocked on (on his bed) and he checked up on you every hour or so. He hoped you’d get some good sleep and be more energized in the morning.

He learned two things, you’re a cuddler and you’re going to be tired no matter what because he woke up to you clinging onto him like a panda.

When he did wake you up, you asked for a few more minutes.

“You had 17 hours of sleep! How could you possibly need more?!”

He’s impressed. Even when you stepped on his tail you were clearly about to fall over and join him in his nap.

Not much to say besides he thinks it’s funny. But he doesn’t get why you’re so tired. He sees you take very long naps and half of the school day you decide to just sleep. Then your friends have to wake you up.

He’s caught you napping under a tree many times. He notices how objectively beautiful you are. He’s never gonna admit that though. You could be drooling with the eye crusts but you would still be really, really cute.

He doesn’t wake you up on purpose. He lets out a small laugh when he sees you and your eyes shoot open. Gave him a jump scare.

“Are you watching me sleep?”

“Why are sleeping in the courtyard anyway? Get up and sleep in a bed or something.”

Sometimes he would pick you up and carry you somewhere less crowded or more comfortable. When you wake up in a different location than what you remember, you don’t question it. You’re too tired to.

You are not a sufficient employee. You’re generally always slow and a little bit forgetful because of your sleep deprivation.

He thought you would come running to him for a detailed study guide because instead of studying you slept your days away. But you never came. I mean you were gonna but you lost track of time and never ended up making a deal.

Whether you bombed the exam or passed with flying colors, you dodged a major bullet.

He observed you were bad at serving customers and yawned every 3 seconds, which made him glad you didn’t make a contract because you’d be dead weight.

However in PE, he noticed you were physically more capable than him. You beat him a race while you were half asleep. That’s just impressive. But it shows you only put in effort to be better than people.

You fell asleep in Mostro Lounge numerous times. He has to kick you out because you’re not ordering anything. But you always whine about how comfy the booth seats are.

“Azul… Give me a break please.”

“Don’t give me that look…”

He’s really curious why you’re always so sleeping. He sees you nap all day in school and somehow you still have eyebags.

Is it magic that makes you so tired? He just doesn’t understand.

Kalim Al Asim

During your stay at Scarabia, it was when he really started to notice how sleepy you always looked. He actually took pity on you and apologized, asking if the bed was uncomfortable or you don’t have any food to energize you.

He says that you could sit out in the morning march because you were just so tired. You looked like you were about to collapse. He feeds you a lot because he assumes you’re low kn energy because lack of carbs.

He is way too nice to you. He’s a very comfortable pillow and so everytime you see him, you sit down next to him and doze off on his shoulder.

He doesn’t usually say anything out loud as to not wake you up but inside his head he’s cooing and resisting the urge to cuddle you.

“Ah, you’re awake. Did you sleep well?”

“No, can I sleep some more?” You didn’t even wait for a response before you closed your eyes again.

Vil Schoenheit

One glance and he’s appalled. Your eye bags— what happened to you?! Maybe you’re like Ignihyde’s housewarden and stays up late.

He takes it upon himself to fix yourself up a little bit. He asked you why you wear such baggy clothes and you respond with “because I can fall asleep faster with comfy clothes.” Don’t you worry about self image?

You’re a bit of an airhead, only thinking about the next time you can nap. Your uniform is always messy because you decide to lay down and rest where ever you please.

It’s a shame because you are pretty inside and out. Your sleeping face is just naturally cute and you help people however you can, even if it’s low effort.

He gives you healthy energy drinks to keep you awake and it hardly has an effect. He gives you skin care and you fall asleep before doing it each night. Hell, he even had to tell you to take a shower. If he hears a thud he knows you drifted off the dreamland in there and fell down.

He’s basically the one making you keep up with your hygiene. He never lets you off the hook, he’s not the type to let you sleep in him either.

What sucks is that he never allows you to fall asleep when you’re in his presence unless he’s feeling gracious that day.

“Vil, please just 5 minutes. I think I’ll collapse if I don’t nap right this second…” You stumble forward and he catches you by the arm.

“Seriously, you must’ve been born with a curse.” He gently picks you up and sets you down on the couch. “30 minutes and we’re back to it.”

Sheesh, you’ve got worse eyebags than him. He first saw you when you were awake being pulled around by your friends.

When he encountered you asleep in the courtyard, he was surprised. You look much cuter when you’re asleep. But why were you sleeping behind the statue of Hades?

His muttering accidentally woke you up and you stared back at him like he’s crazy. You rubbed your eyes and blinked. It was a short stare down until you just flipped on your side and went back to sleep.

He sees you around a lot. It’s like you’re doing it on purpose. He thinks of you more than he should, you probably forgot he existed.

What’s strange is that you have strange dreams of him. Like he appears in your dreams either as a background character or is talking to you.

You try not to think about him but it always happens.

Malleus Draconia

You only met him because you fell asleep outside one time. It happens way too often unfortunately. No one was there to drag you into your bed that time and so you were there until late at night.

Your eyes shot wide open when you felt s strange presence and the ground shake a little. There were fireflies out of no where.

Then you met Malleus. You didn’t feel that tired around him for some reason. You didn’t get close though. You just talked to him about himself. You avoided any questions about yourself. A majority of the time you thought it was a reoccurring dream. You eventually started sleeping outside on purpose to see him.

Sometimes you look for him at school. You end up wearing yourself out after 10 minutes and fall asleep, hoping to see him again.

Malleus definitely tried to intimidate you for a while, he felt bitter because of how nonchalant you were. Turns out you were just an airhead and so he took it less personal.

It’s often that you fall asleep mid conversation with him. He’s not mad really, he just sets you in your bed and gets one last look before going back to his dorms.

But like. Let's not forget about how many other possibilities there are. FRAGILE READER TEASER. It is mostly scenes of them and Zandik during the Akademiya. Except, current fragile reader is there in the background, forlornly watching their former self and Zandik's memories. With every new scene, fragile reader walks behind them, their gaze growing sadder and sadder the whole time, but they do not say a word. Until, it gets to a point where their former self starts to fade away, and in a panic they run after themselves, only to be met with nothingness. They have to accept that they'll no longer ever go back to their old self. (Kind of like Raiden's teaser)

DEMO. I imagine it's kind of like Furina's in a way. Because fragile reader's demo is all in their head/a dream. It begins deceptively happy at first, bright sunlight, joyful music, and smiles. They are finally doing the things they wanted, traveling to other nations, doing things that any normal person would do. Showing Foxttore the world too. The segments are there as well, bickering as usual while fragile reader looks on happily, interrupting them and pulling them to see all the sights the world has to offer. There are no worries, nothing bad happening at all... which makes it all the more unsettling. And at the end- fragile reader wakes up with a start, in complete and utter darkness. For it was all a dream.

COLLECTED MISCELLANY. Dainsleif introducing you, but surprise surprise! Dottore takes over instead to describe his beloved!! EBWDIEWB him explaining all of the silly moves you do with Foxttore and Puffttores... 😭 all with a straight tone. You guys are so married couple 😭

AND YESSSS BRO IM LOVING THEM BEING A 2 IN 1.... do NOT separate them!! In reality... Dottore doesn't really need your support skills (he's incredibly strong after all) but!! Immediately getting swapped out when you get too hurt 🥺 i was thinking that happens when you're about to take a killing hit but!! That's more accurate because he'd never let it reach that point! OKAY BUT ALSO REAL. I always thought it'd be cool if certain characters got special buffs based on their in-game relationship with others (like members of the Qixing, or the Knights, Lyney and Lynette etc) We love fragile reader doting on their fellow Fatuis and shitting on the Archons!! They can stay on life support for all you care!!

AND THE BATTLE INTERACTIONS- okay hear me out. For the 2 in 1 character, you get two different ultimates depending on who your active character is. If it's fragile reader, it starts with Dottore ready to do the job for you, but you valiantly put your arm out in front of him, because you wanna protect him!! He watches on with amusement as you assault the screen with tons of Puffttores :3 (they're unlimited) If Dottore is the one on the field, before he brutally annihilates the enemies, you give him a little kiss for good luck and jump around in the background cheering him on totally ignoring how those guys are completely dead!! :3

Okay and your death voice line too - "Zandik... save me..." <3

Omg, I just wanted to say I ADORE your characterization of Al and Vox! I don't even have the words to express how much I love reading your stuff, especially the Anon responses you post on here. The behind the scenes thoughts are literally my food, lifesource, its so good when people not only write characters IN CHARACTER, but also include stuff about their analysis/understanding of the character too.. I'm literally obsessed with breaking down characters and yk, cracking their chrome domes open to see how they work (which admittedly, I am not the best at <_< but I love reading them). Just wanted to say how much I love your writing. I had maybe 2 questions, please don't feel pressured to answer them :>

What in your mind (in reference to the 66.6 fics) would motivate Alastor to let Val get close to him in the first place? Or was that more you picking these two characters up by the scruff of their necks and plopping them into a hypothetical scenario to explore their character and write some fun intimate thingsTM?

What do you think of the dynamic of Vox and Al vs something like Lucifer and Al? Personally I've noticed that something Alastor craves, behind the mask of his static smiling persona, is attention. He's (at least how I saw it) usually peeved when people don't care about his absence, and seems especially bothered by the King of Hell refusing to really acknowledge him, so he goes out of his way to push Lucifers buttons (like calling himself a father figure to Charlie, IN FRONT OF HER ACTUAL FATHER LOL) whereas with Vox, Vox is literally CONSTANTLY thinking about Alastor. Man literally interrupted his regular TV program to do a segment about how much he totally didn't at ALL care about Alastors dissapearance or the fact that he returned (suree buddy). So Alastor can have more fun with him and annoy him by ignoring and messing with him on purpose.

As for your questions:

1. I'm assuming that was a typo and that you mean Vox (but in case you did mean Val: that was just a funny accident of him walking by the room! Alastor wasn't paying enough attention until it was too late), and to that I say:

I think Alastor allows Vox to take a go at him in canon because he finds Vox's obsession with him to be entertaining, but also because Alastor is kind of a narcissist and that same obsession massively feeds his ego, especially in a political climate that otherwise forgot about Alastor. Vox's whole "Who gives a shit about Alastor coming back?! Haha, now let me have a public meltdown and short out power to the whole city about it! Oh, fuck, why is he back, though?? Can we send a spy in to find out??" is exactly the reaction that Alastor wants every time he mentions his mysterious absence and gets brushed off.

At the same time, Alastor doesn't seem to register Vox as a sincere and genuine threat. He's a big enough fish in the Pride Ring pond that his obsession with Alastor is gratifying, but Alastor's self-absorption also doesn't really allow him to treat Vox as a threat tier above "annoying in a funny way, and also television is stupid." (Perhaps this will change in season 2... :eyes: (or perhaps Alastor will get Even Worse) (please god let him get even worse))

So those two things in combination make Vox the perfect candidate for Alastor to experiment with while maintaining his ego and not feeling particularly threatened. Despite Vox's Safeword 101 talk, Alastor would never put stock into that system with Vox unless he was certain that he himself would be able to back up a 'no' with overwhelming force. Him even considering safewords in the Live On Air! series is less for his own sake and more a politesse he offers on Vox's request to warn Vox to slow the fuck down before Alastor tries to put his insides on the outside.

2. And in direct contrast, we have Lucifer...

... Who Alastor obviously actually cares quite a bit about, because he's a whole nother power tier from both Vox and Alastor, and furthermore and possibly even more importantly, a credible threat to Alastor's relationships and standing in the hotel. I think a lot of discussion I see about Alastor prodding Lucifer seems to talk about how quickly he got annoyed about Lucifer's comments, but that misses the fact that he was pissed off before Lucifer even showed up. He got pissy the moment he saw the welcome sign, actually! And I wager that he was narratively absent for the scene where Charlie actually calls Lucifer because he would have done his best to manipulate her out of doing so had be been there.

And given that the two clearly haven't met before (though obviously Alastor knows of Lucifer - and hates that the inverse isn't true, hah), it's not 100% clear exactly why he's immediately so annoyed, but in my personal view of things and barring something like "he's projecting onto Lucifer because his contract is with Lilith," I think that what we know of Alastor's personality points most strongly to "he liked being the hotel's benefactor and sees it as His Project, and doesn't like the idea that Charlie called daddy for something that she thought mysterious, powerful Alastor couldn't handle." He distracts a lot with obviously-goading comments about practically being Charlie's dad in his duet with Lucifer, but underneath that he puts a lot of emphasis on the work he's done for the hotel and the fact that he's been supporting Charlie and the hotel from the start, so why the fuck is this deadbeat asshole suddenly turning up?!

Tl;dr: Charlie missed her insight roll on Alastor's personal investments and he's sooooo offended - and taking it out on Lucifer!

I think one of my favorite things about both Lucifer and Alastor is that they both sooo obviously belong in the Pride Ring, hahaha.

“There’s a joke here somewhere, you know,” fWhip says, behind him. “A goblin and a toy walk through a rift…”

Jimmy has heard the footsteps, but he is startled by his voice nonetheless, snapping to attention in that way that would’ve caused his hat to fall all funny and crooked over his eyes if he were still wearing it. He’s sitting on one of the benches by Scar’s flowerbeds, the ones that have shriekers hidden beneath them, he’d learned that one the hard way, and watching the sun as it sets over the main street of an amusement park his deputy had rambled to him about during late nights in Tumble Town. It’s strange, to see it with his own eyes when he’d half-convinced himself that Scar was making it all up, that he had nowhere to go back to and so no reason to leave. But here it is, and it is beautiful. How Jimmy misses having reasons to fault people for things.

“‘M not a toy,” he says after a pause, lazily. FWhip hops over the bench and settles down next to him, blue hoodie and ginger hair and Jellie ears headband and all. Jimmy really wants to say he looks unfamiliar.

“Well, not here you aren’t,” fWhip shrugs, giving him a once-over. “Wonder why. Seriously, this server has dwarfs, and slimes, and everything… wonder what it’s got against my ears.”

“Is it weird?” Jimmy asks, half to carry on the conversation, half because he’s curious. It stopped being weird for him approximately ten minutes in, but that’s because he’d never really gotten used to the whole – cotton in his lungs, a foot or so away from the ground thing. That wasn’t him, not really, just a joke taken too far in a world that doesn’t understand jokes. But fWhip is a goblin, proudly, he collects gold and lives in caves and stuff. FWhip is a goblin, except when he is a human, apparently. Does this server also not understand jokes? Or does it understand them too well?

FWhip shrugs again. “Not really,” he says, honestly, as far as Jimmy can tell. “I mostly forget when I’m not around mirrors. I mean, I’m a bit taller, and when I raise my arms, they’re not–“ he squints and lifts a hand to cover the setting sun in front of them – “green, but for the most part, it’s alright.” He chuckles. “Maybe that’s weird.”

“Maybe.”

“Is it weird for you?”

“Nope.”

“Figures.” FWhip shifts slightly on the bench. Jimmy isn’t looking at him, but he catches the sidelong glance thrown his way. “You like it?”

“The server? It’s got pretty builds.”

It wasn’t a question about the server, and they both know it, but fWhip doesn’t deign to correct him. Jimmy inclines his head slightly, inspecting the cobblestone pavement beneath his feet. It reaches just up to the edge of the bench and no further, because Scar built it, and Scar is nothing if not detail-oriented. When terraforming, at least.

FWhip is staying in his hotel, just off of main street. Personal invitation, he hears. Jimmy is… well, he might build his own place.  

Or go live with Grian, but that’s, like, the last resort. The man is living in a giant rock. Jimmy has standards.

“The rift is open, you know,” fWhip says. “Everyone might just decide to go back soon.”

They might. Though they probably won’t – they’ve never been anything less than a curious bunch, to their own detriment, and Jimmy knows for a fact that at least two of their friends are still carrying a grudge about all that skulk under their bases, even if Pix had offered to clean it out (for them, not for him yet.) It’s prime time to plot in retaliation, or maybe to take part in whatever Christmas plans the hermits are whispering to each other about through chat, Pearl and Grian off to build a sleigh that will undoubtedly look as beautiful as anything they’ve ever touched. Jimmy wonders what Christmas is like on here.

“I doubt it,” he says. “I mean, an eye for an eye, right? We have to get revenge for the inconvenience.”

The inconvenience of him getting an entire villager trading hall, or of fWhip getting an entire minecart system between the segments of his base. The inconvenience of farms, more efficient than anything they’ve ever built themselves, and of sorted inventories, and of a colourful hat, and laughter.

The inconvenience of a killer robot, he reminds himself. Stuff’s fair, actually.

“That we do,” fWhip agrees. “But at least it’s open, so we’re not stuck. Think it’ll put us back to how we ought to be?”

Jimmy watches the sun set over the horizon, and says nothing.

It’s funny, I write chapters only based on a few scenes in my head and the rest is improvised for the most part, and that part only had one plan - “Spit on em, boys”.

There’s something too funny about four mutant turtles bitterly spitting on a picture of a spaceship. My humour is weird.

(Yes, Mikey missed rehearsals so he was demoted to slide changer. He kept forgetting which part was his and started the slander too early, beating up the poster of the Millennium Falcon two pages early.)

Blog things.

When I created this blog, I was in my "Jeantonio era", Jeantonio hyperfixation, if you were a CS fan in late 2022 most likely I was in your screen yapping about them and what not. Literally that was all my blog was good for, for that reason alone.

Yea, no more of that. I'm guessing the light switch turned off. I don't know what happened genuinely speaking they just aren't like..you can say I've gotten mature, when I look back at my posts I want to cry, bawl and curl up into a ball fetus position by the pure cringe of it. I don't know.

Not all only Jeantonio, it's just CS in general, sure I'm in a discord server (hi @tiredguyswag) about La Femme Rouge but I really just don't feel the same way about the show I used to. Blame it on personal life I guess.

now that I say that all I say on discord is how I stopped having a Jeantonio hyperfixation 🙃

1. I don’t remember. I thought throughout Season 1 that I would hate Nibrahim but when it finally started happening I fell in love. Maybe it was the taking-Leo’s-letter scene from Episode 23.

Complex. Unintentionally funny. Always fun to analyze. Plus I find him sexy.

3) Hürrem:

One of the most brilliant characters ever in any Turkish show. Never has a boring scene. Always human and complex and brilliantly written.

3. Erase the scene in Episode 57 with Ibrahim monologuing about how he actually loves Hatice and is only with Nigar because he is angry at Hatice and how his relationship with Nigar is “a sea of lies” yada yada. Erase it!

17. It is a historical show but I really admire them for ignoring history and just making men and women freely interact. Good storytelling trumped historical accuracy in this case.

18. I think four seasons was right for this show. Now, the show didn’t always spend that time in the right way, especially in early Season 2, but the amount of time was right even if the way it was used wasn’t.

19. I can’t think of anything in particular right now but I like the commentary on the female characters in the second episode of the documentary series.

my challenge so far in making my way thru Kaleidoscope of Death is that I'm really enjoying the doors & the dynamic between the main pair within that horror world. But when they are back in the mundane world it's... not really working for me? 🤔 I like them working together & keeping secrets from the other players, putting in & taking off roles. But in the rl segments at first I found Ruan Nanzhu sorta annoying. And the way he was hitting on Lin Qiushi in the doors was funny/charming, while outside the doors it grated and felt too forced.

The actress is my fav third wheeler.

“I will never be able sleep in that bed. I will definitely never be able to sleep in that sweet, cozy bed in this lifetime of mine. But it doesn’t matter, because the floor here is straight and hard. I like it very much. That’s right, I love this super hard floor…” Helplessly lying on the cold, uncomfortable ground, Tan Zaozao had resorted to hypnotizing herself.

At Ruan Nanzhu’s merciless refusal, the puny Tan Zaozao was forced to sleep on the floor once again, while the two large grown men squeezed into one soft bed. Of course, she didn’t forget to curse madly in her heart as she made her own pathetic-looking floor bed; she deeply hoped that her prayers for that bastard’s suffering somehow reached Lin Qiushi, and that he’d make that lousy Ruan Nanzhu’s life an absolute living hell.

It's my 1 year yume-versary with Belial today! I felt like being a hopeless romantic (especially after seeing this art again), so I wound up thinking about the process of how this happened. And while it's 99% coincidences that make me happy, when put together like this they do form a love story...

While I got into GBF because of him, the actual act of falling for him "as myself" (for lack of a better way to put it) was a lot longer. Four years, in fact! It was half "I just like him with Djeeta and Lyria better" and half "Nah, he wouldn't like *me*, I'd be too shy".

Cue 2022. XD;

By which I mean, I'm not sure when in summer it started, but all of a sudden he kept showing up in my dreams (as Oribe, his semi-canon school AU self). "Oh cool, that hasn't happened before", I thought, thinking nothing of it. It seemed a good reason to write him and Djeeta in a similar setting; I'd take it.

And then I started noticing that Djeeta wasn't involved. "Well, maybe she's there but I'm seeing things from her POV this time"... ^^;

Months before the Oribe dreams, I kept dreaming about Summer Belial months before we got the Summon, which is funny anyway, but those were still focused on Djeeta. My subconscious really wanted me to have fun with Oribe/Belial, and it was going to bludgeon me until I did. At the same time, two things happened:

A particularly powerful dream about Oribe!Belial where he really wanted to take a selfie with me and kept insisting "I want to see your face, don't hide~"

The "Belial advice column for GBFest" appeared

The former was A Lot, but the latter was easily compartmentalized: "Just write the letter as if you're part of GBF's world". It took a few tries, because I had to remember kafabe (i.e. these letters were being sent to "Belial", not the devs), but I did it!

I burbled about how he'd always gotten me out of writer's block, because of course, and made absolutely sure not to overthink my heart racing while imagining sending it in canon. It was in English, down to the pen name "Shy Writer", and knew it probably wouldn't get picked for the GBFest segment.

"Just the fantasy is enough," I thought, forgetting what "yume" meant.

Fast forward to Jan 2023!

GBFest is here, it's fun whether you're there in person or not...and I'm catching up on Day 1's stream after falling asleep. ^^; I found the "Belial answers fanmail" segment and was just enjoying the spectacle. Here's a video of it separate from the massive stream one:

Someone had sent in something about being shy/nervous about who they liked, very likely him. (Also they called him "Beli-chan", which is adorable.) Belial read it normally, but his response (at 4:13, yes I've kept track of it)...well...

He let out probably the deepest, sultriest chuckle we've heard from him yet, which is saying a lot, and then added "'Shy'? How cute (kawaii ne)~."

Again: it's all coincidence, of course. Just a lot of convenient circumstances that eventually lined up into a fantasy narrative that makes me happy.

But boy did it not matter in that moment, when I felt like a tsundere who'd been found out after a whole season of UST. XD

It felt like there wasn't any need to deny it anymore. Nor to make excuses that were never going to hold up, as long as I kept denying that sense of fun to my own detriment. Or, to be extra sappy about it--it was as if Belial had been seducing me throughout '22 to the beginning of '23 and had now finally gotten the point across to my very dense self-insert/OC.

I've been enjoying myself a lot since then--going out more, trying new hobbies, just being happier in general. Could that have happened without this as a push? Maybe. But it didn't happen until I "had food at home", so to speak, which feels telling.

I think we as a species need space in our heads for imagination and play, and that varies from person to person. Along with writing, mine just happens to be (day)dreaming about the Primarch of Cunning acting like a bird of paradise and/or seducing me and my self-insert OC into semi-reasonable sleep schedules.

So, yeah. Happy anniversary, Belial. May there be many more!

Semi-coherent self indulgent ramble about Edinburgh below, mostly because I forget things if I don’t record them somewhere - feel free to ignore…

- Within 10 minutes of getting off the train we spotted David O’Doherty, the first show we were seeing that night, I too loudly whispered ‘look, David O’Doherty, green bike helmet, oh my god’ and was instantly ashamed at having so little cool about that stuff although he either didn’t hear me or just convincingly acted that way - his show was fantastic, one of my favourites, I will always be excited to hear his ‘beefs’ song - shortly after the show while I was at the bar my friend saw him walk past with Josie Long, I was pretty relieved as I’m sure I would have started crying as I told her how much I loved her book

- Show 2: Frank Skinner, I wasn’t sure about this when we booked it, the audience demographic changed massively and it was a huge shift from lovely DO’D, he definitely flirted with some more ‘old school’ stuff about brexit but then moved away from the obvious jokes, enjoyable but not so much my thing, Russell Howard and David Baddiel were in the audience taking the comedian count up to 4

- Show 3: Simon Amstell was the last show of day 1 - very much a work in progress but enjoyed it, different again from the first 2 shows, we were talking to some people the next day who said they had seen him a few years ago and would never go again as he was so self involved, couldn’t argue with that so I suppose it comes down to if you like him in the first place?

- Day 2, show 1 was Daniel Kitson - just wonderful, he makes its look so easy, hard to talk about without going into the premise but so far removed from the work in progress show earlier in the year and I can’t wait to see it again once it’s ‘complete’

- Show 2: Tarot, another work in progress - I absolutely love them and was cackling like an idiot for the whole thing and can’t wait to see finished show, was accidentally too enthusiastic and got pulled into some very mild audience participation regarding Mr Blobby (and my brain just can’t do audience participation) pretty sure my response was shite but it didn’t even dent how much I loved it

- Show 3: Stuart Goldsmith - bang on the front row (at the side at least) good lord he has VERY twinkly eyes… also I think the first proper ‘themed’ show we saw, good but very strong competition based on earlier shows of the day

- Show 4: Last minute scarper to the next street over to see Stuart Laws, the first show where I hadn’t seen them before either live or on TV, great visual gag fairly early on. Really enjoyed it, more low quality audience participation from myself… decision taken not to sit on the front row again if I could help it

- Show 5: Nish Kumar was brilliant and I could have listened to him screaming about the government all night, also the loudest audience of the weekend and everyone in the room loved him. Ed Gamble was in the crowd and got some stick which was fun, it was billed as a work in progress but I wouldn’t have been surprised if it was unplanned and he just ranted for the whole hour

- Last show was an ‘All Stars’ show at the Udderbelly, booked mainly because we couldn’t get to see Chloe Petts’ main show - she was fantastic obviously - also loved Lara Ricote

- Day 3, show 1: Ed Gamble, brings out the mum vibes in me despite only being 5 years younger, I find myself thinking he’s a lovely young man, and so handsome too etc He was very funny despite the smell in the venue and the actual children in the crowd, have tickets for the tour next year and am hoping to see him walk onstage wearing his camping trousers

- Show 2: The same stinking venue (Hive 1) for Alison Spittle who took the step of spraying air freshener around the room, great segment where she made assumptions about people’s lives based on their favourite soups, the show was a last minute booking but fantastic

-Show 3: Paul Merton’s Impro Pals, we booked this based on our shared childhood love of watching him on Have I Got News For You, the friendly posh lady we sat next to told us she didn’t like it when comedy was political so we decided not mention how much we enjoyed Nish…it was fun but very ‘lite’ and we were ready to get shouted at by an angry Scottish man

- Show 4: Frankie Boyle, lots of shouting and calling people cunts, lots of his psychotic giggle, couple of what appeared to be walk outs but who knows really, he only heckled the blokes leaving the room which was interesting, took the Prince Andrew is a nonce joke count up by about 100 and loads of fun stuff about the royals which I enjoyed

- Show 5: Buffy Revamped - the only non-stand up show we saw but it was great fun, crowd was full of very enthusiastic people and some VERY drunk people but he handled them expertly

- Show 6: Ivo Graham - pretty chaotic and I’m not sure if it was because it started late or if that’s just the show/the man, regardless it was really fun and had a great audience participation angle that would have worked really really well if the show was extended over a couple of hours, still a great last show of the weekend

This was my first trip to Edinburgh and it was amazing, the bad stuff I had prepared for wasn’t as bad as expected (the crowds, the queuing etc) although it was obviously expensive and I doubt I could afford it every year, also it totally fried my brain so I’m spending the next week indoors and not talking to any other humans as much as possible

Disappointed not to have spotted a wild Watto and also guilty we couldn’t fit his show in, but I am going to see Search next month and have his book on pre-order so I hope that balances things out in the long-run (see also John Robins but with Howl later in the year and without the book) and I didn’t give up hope of a no more jockeys show until ludicrously late into the weekend

I think our comedian spotting skills were fairly poor - we also saw Paul Chowdry and Paul Williams (separately) out and about and then Amy Annette walking down the street with Nish and Ed after Nish’s show, but that’s it

It's so funny for me to see the difference between English and Russian parts of the GO fandom's reaction to the s2e6. Like, in the Russian segment people are mostly dissapointed with Crowley, and on the English side it is completely opposite.

In the final scene we see that Aziraphale remained in the group (joined Heaven again) and kept the status-quo as an angel, even though he had kinda-sorta quit with it after the Armageddon. He prefers to stay where he is as a person, but it doesn't mean he doesn't want changes. Aziraphale has a will to change the world fundamentaly, he wants to create a world where he and Crowley can be with each other and love each other without pressure by higher (or lower) authority. The world, where they won't be scared anymore, and he sincerely believes that it's possible, and they need to go for it.

There goes sympathy for him from Russians I guess. Firstly, people here don't really realize it, but the group for them means much more than their own personality. I guess communist past can't leave us alone. Like, really, collective responsibility is so common here from the very primary school. This need to belong anywhere may probably be a reason why people here choose leaders who want to "unite" us. Secondly, living with the dictator in your country for like, ALL THE HISTORY LONG, may also affect the mentality of people because they start to be afraid of being different, being not what they supposed to be. If they are not, punishment will come. However, I hope that sympathy for Aziraphale also shows desire of the nation to change the situation and end the cruel disaster that is happening now. Aziraphale seems to be heroic for his hope for changes.

On the other hand, Crowley had already tried to change everything, to ask questions, but it didn't work out well. That's how he fell, and now he wants to be his way, their own way with Aziraphale. It's better for him to leave 'cause other way everything could be worse or just stay still. To tell the truth, that's how Russian people usually deal with their problems: leave, leave the goddamn country, but that's why Crowley's action seemed to be not reasonable, but coward-like. However, that's is still appears to be reasonable for English-speaking part of the fandom. He did not forget about his very own interests and that's why people can associate him with themselves.

My thought are so random and probably unclear, so in two words I want to say that for Russian-speaking audience Aziraphale is a hero, and Crowley is a coward, whose actions they can understand, but cannot accept 'cause their inner powerlessness represents in him, and for English-speaking people Crowley did a smart and reasanoble decision which keeps him safe and Aziraphale is too naive and afraid to leave the things he used to.

Never thought that mentality can affect your perception of the goddamn tv-show so much.

okay just for my own sake heres my relationships with the undertale cast.

for context: in jeremytale, as im calling it, the Player latches onto me instead of frisk but frisk is still there. and killing someone is never a possibility. the dialogue options, whether mean or sarcastic, are something I myself would say regardless of being possessed by an Entity

I do get mad at him frequently for patronizing papyrus (and he tries to do it to me too but i am not above threatening him). on the surface we relax with each other quite a bit. Especially when he realizes that me and papyrus are a good match. and also when he stops babying his brother lol

papyrus: man. cmon. you know this. i do think itd be funny that if i ever actually made jeremytale the outcome of the papyrus fight will always be the dating segment no matter what the player has me do. compliment him? Just because it's the day for it and I'm a little nostalgic for my activist era, I always liked Day of Visibility. Remembrance? Helped put a few together but too heavy. TDOV though? One of my real stamps on the area was coming up with the model for how to run those. It's a good day to make a show of force to the broader community. Attract people with a good program and press the publicity. It's good for the community to be visible. Remind people outside they aren't waxing philosophical about hypotheticals. Also a great chance for the less visible members of the community to show up.

And I mean the actually invisible ones. Funny thing about visibility, it's more social construction than anything. Certain subgroups in that broader umbrella...it's kinda like inertia or something. It's normalized to bemoan invisibility for certain segments whether it's actually there or not. All this to say don't forget about the struggles of those you really don't hear about. The trans woman who's casually passed for a decade and can't find support when she needs it because the newly out can only see their own envy. The trans guy who came from a rural town and is open minded but got run out by cliquey nonsense the first time he showed an interest in country boy shit. The teen who changed schools after being out a little while who is now back in the closet for a different reason. Intersections with communities progressives don't tend to think about.

No disrespect to people still figuring yourselves out, but it's like the difference between getting to know a kid vs an adult. Meet enough kids and you start to realize childhood is pretty predictable. Same thing with a newly out trans person. I've caught myself chuckling like an old grandmother seeing what drama this year's crop of baby gays stumbled into this time. Whatever coming out and transitioning means to a person it's soooo cool to get to know those with it well in the rear view. You can never really tell how a person will end up through the looking glass.

There's a much, much wider community than a dozen people decked out in neon hair and pronoun pins navelgazing in a conference room and the adoring gaggle of newly out folk searching them out for access to critical services. As much as it was annoying dealing with the former sometimes and rewarding helping out the latter, getting to see the weird stories others don't and figure out how interesting the complexities this flavor of humanity can really show you? That was the cool part.

SCARING THE HOES: DLC PACK (JPEGMAFIA x Danny Brown, 2023)

I've decided to change how I format my posts. The Eminem Show and business casual reviews have been updated with the new formatting.

Scaring The Hoes was my album of 2023. In an era where rap albums keep feeling generic, with no passion put into them, Scaring The Hoes was a much needed breath of fresh air. Yet, when the DLC pack dropped, I just...never listened to it. I kept forgetting, kept putting it off. I loved the album, and had a feeling I'd love the DLC too, but I just never got around to it. I decided to change that today, and thank god I did.

Firstly, I adore the cover art. The vape packaging, along with the "disclaimer" and the background that looks like a generic online store page are absolutely fucking hilarious, and I hate that I didn't come up with the idea myself.

I can only assume that the 4 songs on here were originally meant to be on the album tracklist, but taken off in favor of other songs, or possibly some other reason. The opener of the DLC sounds like a calmer alternative to Lean Beef Patty, and while I do like the track, I think that they made the right call choosing Lean Beef Patty as the opener instead; it represents what Scaring The Hoes is all about. Though I enjoy the song, it is the weakest on the DLC, in my opinion. The SpongeBob samples are funny though.

I love the production and beats on every song, but HERMANOS has my favorite beat by a country mile. The smooth, chill beat gives me the vibe of opulence, almost like sitting on top of the world, and Danny and Peggy both flow on it in a way that fits said feeling. However, what really takes the cake for me is the beat switch at the end of the track. Good fucking lord, the beat switch is perfect. I'm almost mad that they didn't rap on it, but it's so hard that I can't bring myself to complain about that fact.

Tell Me Where To Go has a feeling that I honestly wish was on Scaring The Hoes. It's calmer, more laid back and even a little introspective in terms of the lyrics. It's because of all these things that the track most likely was cut, seeing as how none of that stuff would have really fit on the album, but I honestly think Scaring The Hoes would have benefited from having this song on the full tracklist. I really enjoy what this track offers, though I'd need to be in a certain mood to wanna hear it.

NO! x32 definitely has a closing track vibe to it; it almost feels like the polar opposite of Where Ya Get Ya Coke From off the full album. If that song was like stopping at every red light and speeding at every green light, this song is like speeding through everything. The sample sounds similar to the one on HOE, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a different segment of the same sample. This one is my second favorite track on the DLC, though I could do without Danny's spoken word at the end.

For being a small collection of B-sides, the DLC pack for Scaring The Hoes is a very strong offering that is a perfect companion piece to the full album, and a must-hear for anyone who enjoyed it.
