Note
1. and 6.
1. Have you pulled inspiration from media sources other than the property your fic is related to (a plot point from a TV show that has nothing to do with the characters/setting of the fic, a line from a book, etc.)? If so, for which story? Why did you find that media source compelling?
I have actually!
In The Veil chapter 6, Pac jumps into a raging river to rescue a young child who had fallen in. This was partly inspired by the river rapids scene from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.
There is also the fire scene from Spirit that greatly inspired a tragic event that will happen way later in The Veil.
In fact, most of my inspired media only come into play later on in my stories though, so I can only be vague about how they are inspired to avoid spoilers.
In upcoming chapters for The Veil, there are a few lines that take inspiration from Wings of Fire, as well as a character from WoF that inspired a new character/OC that will have a big role in The Veil. I'll talk more about it when it gets to that point in the story. I'm also doing a slight revamp of the Netherworld for The Veil, diverging a bit from what was canon in the show and having the Netherworld share some qualities with the Upside Down from Stranger Things. That's just a tiny aspect of it though, I've got lots of other changes in mind for the Nether as well.
Other than those, Throne of Glass was also a big inspiration for my writing style.
6. What is your favorite type of feedback to receive (favorites/kudos, comments, DMs, complete and utter silence in the pursuit of remaining unperceived?)? If comments or DMs or anything else involving a reader writing, do you have a particular type of feedback that excites you more than other types?
Kudos, reblogs, keyboard smashes, comments, comments, comments—literally anything where people tell me what they think. It doesn't have to be compliments or praise, even keyboard smashes or solid criticisms are fantastic - I wanna hear what goes into people's minds when they read my fics, so that I know what is working and what's not. Plus I get to see firsthand how readers absolutely lose their shit after reading certain angst or fluffy scenes >:D My absolute favourite kind of feedback is when a reader sends a whole essay lol, but even a quick and passing comment means the world! 💙

wildest dreams is about Alexander Skarsgård. the mv is obviously about an affair and the male lead is married to another woman. HS is like one inch taller than taylor so it doesn’t make sense to be about him ? harry literally said it himself “Cause I don’t want to hear about him, How he’s holding you better at night” its not that hard to get. literally only requires basic reading comprehension.
Oh wow, Anon. Are you suggesting that I lack “basic reading comprehension skills” because I disagree with your view? 🤣🤣🤣
I will say this once: coming in to my inbox with thinly veiled insults? Not a way to (a) endear yourself to me and (b) get me to respond.
Next time - use your actual name if you want to have a dialogue, reply without questioning my intelligence, or know I will not reply.
All the other AS fans in my inbox, with comments shading/insulting me and my cognitive capacity because you have a differing interpretation: lol. Let’s agree to disagree; know that after this post I won’t be engaging further. You might think the is “handsome as hell”; I think he is creepy AF (and I am legit disturbed by the fact he dated teens/much younger women almost exclusively at that point). Put your name on it if you want to chat, or write your own post about it.
Back to the MV-related points.
It’s an affair is either of the parties was in a relationship; neither was. Especially AS, who was not then married. And does not even seem to be married now.
The MV takes whole scenes from iconic movies set in Africa; the plane scene is an almost frame by frame recreation of an iconic scene from Out of Africa. It’s primarily an homage to sweeping, epic films, and she cast a short king/nepo baby as the romantic lead.
I also disagree that the lines you cite from HS’s Him relate to this situation. It’s a CH-related track, particularly because it name checks a CH-Ellie Goulding collaboration (which shares its name with a some from Debut) - The Outside. I do not think that a fleeting encounter with AS (one of many TS allegedly had during the 2013-15 on-and-off period) would have precipitated a track filled with that much anguish.
And: scene.

Taylor Swift & Marriage
for all the girlies who are stll somehow convinced that she and joe are secretly engaged or something (and anyone who likes seeing common themes in her songs)
Mary's Song (Oh My My My) (Taylor Swift, 2006)
A few years had gone and come around We were sitting at our favorite spot in town And you looked at me, got down on one knee
Take me back to the time when we walked down the aisle Our whole town came and our mamas cried You said "I do" and I did too
i don't even know if i should count this considering it's not about herself, but here is taylor's first mention of getting married.
2. Love Story (Fearless, 2008/Fearless (Taylor's Version), 2021)
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring, and said "Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone I love you and that's all I really know I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress It's a love story, baby, just say, 'Yes'"
literally the most generic* love song ends in happily ever after with the two getting married.
*i'm not saying that's a bad thing. i love this song. i just don't think it's necessarily about anyone in particular. like with a lot of her songs tbh, you're supposed to think about your own relationship when you listen to it, not hers. that's how she built the whole relatable girl next door persona she was going for at this time
3. Speak Now (Speak Now, 2010)
I am not the kind of girl Who should be rudely barging in on a white-veil occasion But you are not the kind of boy Who should be marrying the wrong girl
i mean, the whole song is about crashing a wedding. i don't know what else there is to say. i do feel the need to point out that taylor never actually crashed a wedding lol. this is fiction.
i think it's funny you she says "you wish it was me" not "i wish it was me" about the bride. taylor doesn't even want to marry the guy; she just doesn't want him to marry someone else. and to be fair, he probably shouldn't be getting married if he still likes someone else.
4. Starlight (Red, 2012/Red (Taylor's Version), 2021)
Ooh-ooh, he's talking crazy Ooh-ooh, dancing with me Ooh-ooh, we could get married Have ten kids and teach 'em how to dream
again, this song isn't even about herself. (unless she's actually immortal or a time traveler, i don't think she was meeting a bobby on the boardwalk in the summer of '45.) (i read somewhere who it's about, but i don't remember and don't really care)
4.5 I Bet You Think About Me (Red (Taylor's Version), 2021)
this song doesn't actually mention marriage, but the music video is a wedding and basically follows the plot of Speak Now
5. Lover (Lover, 2019)
My heart's been borrowed and yours has been blue All's well that ends well to end up with you Swear to be over-dramatic and true to my Lover
plays on "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue", and is written almost like a wedding vow. there's also the 'first dance remix', which is obviously intended to be played at a wedding. i do think it's entirely possible that she thought she might end up marrying the person she was with at this time.
6. Paper Rings (Lover, 2019)
I like shiny things, but I'd marry you with paper rings Uh huh, that's right Darling, you're the one I want, and I hate accidents except when we went from friends to this
not the first or last time she mentions her partner having less money than her, but she doesn't care about material things (yeah, ok, tell that to her merch store). she just wants to be with this person. she doesn't need to prove anything to anyone
also, the 'accidents' line is interesting now that we know from Mastermind that they're meeting and getting together wasn't an accident. assuming the two songs are about the same person.
7. It's Nice To Have A Friend (Lover, 2019)
Church bells ring, carry me home Rice on the ground looks like snow
8. the last great american dynasty (folklore, 2020)
The wedding was charming, if a little gauche There's only so far new money goes They picked out a home and called it "Holiday House" Their parties were tasteful, if a little loud The doctor had told him to settle down It must have been her fault his heart gave out
rebekah harkness got married and was widowed in the span of one verse.
9. champagne problems (evermore, 2020)
Sometimes you just don't know the answer 'Til someone's on their knees and asks you "She would've made such a lovely bride What a shame she's fucked in the head," they said But you'll find the real thing instead She'll patch up your tapestry that I shred
this song is about someone rejecting a marriage proposal. i know these songs supposed to be fictional, but if i was her partner, i think i'd be a little concerned that she just spit out 2 breakup albums in one year.
10. coney island (evermore, 2020)
The mischief, the gift wrapped suburban dreams Sorry for not winning you an arcade ring
i don't know how to explain it, but this could be referring to not wanting to be a suburban housewife basically? arcade ring = engagement ring.
11. ivy (evermore, 2020)
I'd live and die for moments that we stole On begged and borrowed time So tell me to run Or dare to sit and watch what we'll become And drink my husband's wine
My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand Taking mine, but it's been promised to another
she's married and having an affair (*cough* with a woman *cough*). could be the other pov from illicit affairs on folklore.
12. cowboy like me (evermore, 2020)
And the ladies lunching have their stories about When you passed through town But that was all before I locked it down
i have thoughts about this song, but i don't know how to put them into words. the only part that references marriage though is the phrase 'locked it down'.
13. right where you left me (evermore, 2020)
Friends break up, friends get married Strangers get born, strangers get buried
Glass shattered on the white cloth Everybody moved on, I, I stayed there Dust collected on my pinned-up hair They expected me to find somewhere Some perspective, but I sat and stared Right where you left me
I'm sure that you got a wife out there Kids and Christmas, but I'm unaware
ok, so this one doesn't explicitly say anything about the singer getting married, but i believe it's the other pov to champagne problems and therefore about a rejected marriage proposal. (the 'glass shattered on the white cloth' is a champagne glass. possibly one that had an engagement ring in it.)
14. it's time to go (evermore, 2020)
Fifteen years, fifteen million tears Begging 'til my knees bled I gave it my all, he gave me nothing at all Then wondered why I left
taylor swift is pro-divorce.
15. Lavender Haze (Midnights, 2022)
All they keep asking me (All they keep asking me) Is if I'm gonna be your bride The only kinda girl they see (Only kinda girl they see) Is a one-night or a wife
taylor said stop asking me when i'm going to get married. (so that's the weird rumors she was referring to... interesting) (also, if you think this song is about joe, maybe look up the phrase 'lavender marriage')
16. Midnight Rain (Midnights, 2022)
He wanted a bride I was making my own name Chasing that fame He stayed the same All of me changed
again saying that she doesn't want to get married and seemingly broke up with someone over it
17. High Infidelity (Midnights, 2022)
Storm coming Good husband Bad omen Dragged my feet right down the aisle
I honestly don't really know what to make of this other than 'wow, this woman really doesn't want to get married.'
honorable mention for the Bejewled music video where she makes it very clear that she has no interest in a 'prince.' she wants the castle.
the only time she has ever really implied that she might want to get married is on Lover. i don't know what happened after that (like, i do, but i don't, you know?), but she clearly has had no interest in getting married since then.

Thoughts after rewatching Episode 4
Okay, so I took a couple of days to get over the excruciating cringeworthyness of a few many moments in episode 4 and have just finished rewatching it.
And I have to say thank goodness for whatever it is in the human brain that allows us to adapt! lol No, but srsly, I found it a much easier watch the second time, and its definitely keeping up the trend of the first three episodes of being something I can enjoy more the second time than the first.
So, my now somewhat less instant reaction thoughts:
I hadn’t noticed that it’s Sylvie that initiates the hand holding on Lamentis 1.  And I think I prefer this.  One thing I can’t stand is romance in TV or film where it’s all about the guy winning over the girl, like she’s clearly not interested, but somehow by the end of the movie she’s in love.  Okay, that’s a bit harsh, sometimes it’s done well, but it’s a convention that gets my hackles up and gets me all defensive, so I think I was taking some of this into the episode with me.
Tumblr media
Interestingly, now that I’m thinking of it, I think this moment and the moment Sylvie asks if Loki is okay while they’re being escorted by the guards are the only moments I can recall where she showed any form of affection for him. *shrugs*
Poor boy also seems so surprised at this.  And uncertain how to respond.  And I can’t help but see this in relation to the scene in Thor 1 where the frost giant grabs his forearm...  :’(
I also think another part of the reason I so disliked the romance on my first watch is that it was just another example of Loki over-doing the emotion thing in comparison to his previous characterisation. He certainly looks more into it than Sylvie, and this just bugs me, because again I think the way Sylvie is acting here is what I would have expected from Loki based on the films.
In the time prison, while I still don’t like the getting kicked in the crotch gimmick, I do like that they showed us Loki attempting to get out of the situation in what seems quite a reasonable way.  He explains the situation to Sif and asks for her help to escape.  I thought it was quite interesting, because we see his first instinct is to use his skills of persuasion and try to escape. Firstly because it’s an instance where he’s trying to plot an escape, not just avoiding her or fighting her. I like that he seems to have some hope that this is possible and isn’t just 100% resigned to the TVA being all-powerful.  And secondly, he speaks to Sif as a person, he doesn’t just treat her like some sort of solid hologram and try and knock her out, or stand by the door to make a surprise attack.  It doesn’t work, of course, and we’re supposed to find that funny, but at least he tried in a plausible way onscreen. unlike IW  And he asks her to trust him.  Which I found interesting because if he’s asking this then he must think there’s some chance that she will, which means there’s at least some level of respect between them.  And I like that.  I know I’m reading way too much into this that the writers certainly didn’t intend, but let me play over here.
I still don’t like the narcissist line.  But I think I can buy Loki exaggerating in his confession to get her to stop.  He doesn’t seem to be really particularly bothered by what he’s saying.  But when she walks out and says he will always be alone, even after what he’s just said, that seems to have an impact on him.
I do love this image though. He looks so smol. So sweet.
Tumblr media
When Mobius retrieves Loki from the time prison after the first time, I can see after a second watch that Mobius is actually a little angry/disappointed that Loki ran off after the variant in Roxxcart.  Its subtle well subtler than Loki’s reactions so I hadn’t noticed.
I still dislike the way they did the romance thing.  The interrogation scene where Loki’s all “eww no, I don’t like her!” and then has this realisation that perhaps he does.  I felt like I was being beaten around the head with it.  Like teenagers teasing someone for liking someone else. smh
I’m also reminded that the English language really isn’t very good when it comes to words for ‘liking’ someone. I mean the UK seems to have ‘to fancy’ which would be more accurate, but gotta say I’m glad they didn’t use that here.
I still hate that Loki seems utterly unable to keep a secret or hide his emotions. To me this was a fundamental part of his character, and yet here we have Mobius calling him out because he can’t help but have this pained expression on his face and can’t keep his voice steady.  Black Widow wouldn’t have had to spend more than a minute with this variant of Loki.
Mobius: “What are you doing?”
Loki: “Passing the time.”
This line made me laugh this time.  Sassy Loki!
I still like the slightly veiled way Mobius apologises to Loki for saying he’s only destined to be the villain to make other people better. Nice, not too over the top. Makes Loki smile.
That animatronic timekeeper stuff was just weird.  There better be some good payoff for this in the next two episodes.
And now to the bit I hated the most on my first watch – that super cringey interrupted confession of feelings.
Looking at this again with fresh eyes I wonder if Loki was about to explain Mobius’s theory that their moment on Lamentis 1 might be able to destroy the TVA.  It just got awkward because to explain that he’d have to explain how he feels.  And I think they exaggerated that to make the impact of the pruning bigger.
First he says “then who created the TVA?”  Then he turns away and he seems to be looking around for inspiration, and I think he’s actually thinking about this.  It wasn’t just rhetorical. We can see the moment he realises something, and he doesn’t seem particularly happy about it, and then he turns back to Sylvie.
“Sylvie, I have to tell you something.”
“We will figure this out.” I think this is an aside after he’s taken in how upset she is about this. And it’s true that if they take down the TVA then they probably have to learn who’s in charge eventually. And then he gets back to his original point.
“Because… er… back on Lamentis…” I think here he’s trying to find a way to explain that their moment caused the nexus event, and a big one at that, but he’s struggling to do so in a way that doesn’t make him completely vulnerable by telling her how he feels. But it’s not possible to talk about it so clinically, so he hesitates, “This is new for me…”  he realises he doesn’t actually know quite how to put this.
Now, if I can rationalise it in this way as being an important piece of information he needed to tell her that would help them bring down the TVA then I can be more okay with this than if it was just a poorly timed romantic confession (which is certainly what it appeared to be on first watch). Again, I’m probably clutching at straws here, but it helps me not want to gag while watching this. lol
I mean I still think it’s just a cringey awful scene and it’s so very cliche to interrupt someone before they can say ‘I love you’. But this is a way I can rationalise his actions and I’ll stick with this till proven otherwise, presumably in the next episode. Ha!
I can’t help but give a nod to another beautiful example of Tom’s eyes matching his shirt in the mid-credits scene. <3
Tumblr media
I also think that what I’m experiencing watching each episode the first time is much more from Loki’s point of view.  Like I’m more personally invested in him doing well, him not being embarrassed, him looking good to others.  And so since the story is actually giving him a hell of a time I’m experiencing a lot of negative feelings on his behalf.  And this is because it’s unfolding in real time in front of me and in that moment it could go anywhere! So it feels more real perhaps??  On a second watch I know what’s coming and I’m able to watch it with an eye for the storytelling as a whole, not just as the real events of Loki’s life.  I don’t think I’ve been this much of a fan of any character in recent times to have experienced this before.  So it’s a fascinating thing to learn about being a fan. *shrugs*
Anyway, in summary, much more bearable on second watch.  Some good stuff in there, and I can ignore a good amount of the stuff I didn’t like – at least until next week.
So again I’m sorta somewhere in between loving and hating this show.
@iamanartichoke @scintillatingshortgirl19 maybe some of this is useful to you?

Madara and Hashirama for the ask meme 👀
Hashirama
What I love about them:
I really love Hashirama's stubborn optimism. I say "stubborn" here bc I think after a certain point of pain in misery in someone's everyday life, in some way it is a choice to remain optimistic despite that suffering. I don't characterize Hashirama as constantly happy and he can recognize the more realistic/pessimistic possibilities, he just refuses to accept them. I have it in my notes for OoT but haven't worked it in verbatim but Madara would call him "ruthlessly optimistic " and while that's tinged with Madara's own bias, I think it fits quite well.
What I hate about them:
Hashirama is stubbornly optimistic LOL. It's a double-edged sword and I think by the time he reached adulthood in a canon setting, Hashirama was so desperate for there to be peace he maintained his "everything will work out" attitude when he otherwise shouldn't have. There were the concerns with Madara and the Uchiha, his own brothers views that he certainly should have recognized could become a problem, and, after depending on when Tobirama took on students/how old they were, the possibility of biases being passed down and a Danzo like figure coming to power. However this was not Hashirama's responsibility alone to fix. I don't think, despite his love, Hashirama alone could have kept Madara in a village that hated him and a clan that distrusted him. Tobirama was an adult and let his own bias pass under a veil of "logic" and passed that, either intentionally or unintentionally down to his students. None of this is Hashirama's fault, but I think part of the canon story being a tragedy was he was blinded by a bright, hopeful future that he failed to see the early signs right in front of him.
Favorite Moment/Quote:
"To me, Madara was like a gift from the divine."
Even thinking about it makes me melt. It's so sweet and really emphasizes how much Madara means to him. 🥺
What I would like to see more focus on:
In fics? Hashirama's mental health and how his childhood affected him. Most of the long fics I've read focus on Madara. Which I understand, Madara has an arc into becoming a villain while Hashirama is just kinda "there" and it's easy for him to fulfill a support role to helping Madara in canon Au fics. A sort of unshakeable, always optimistic stone for Madara to depend on and stop his downward spiral into villainy. But, what makes hashimada so great for me is that Madara and Hashirama are equals. There will be times one falters and needs to depend on the other, and they're capable of giving each other that support. It'd also be great to see Hashirama struggle yet continue to choose optimism and compassion time after time because that feels more weighty and important than an eternally optimistic characterization that never wavers.
Headcanon wise...this isn't something I've found but desperately want to see (and will come up in all of my own aus) is the connection between the god tree and the god of shinobi who's famed ninjutsu is wood release and who's cells can be used for everything under the sun and are specifically needed to control the gedo statue / ten-tails. 👀 Look when I got back into Naruto and only vaguely knew about the war arc plot I thought Kishimoto was Doing Something with that. He was not. I am.
What I would like to see less focus on:
This is pretty much mentioned above but Hashirama as mainly a support for Madara rather than getting his own (non romantic) arcs in long canon Au fics. Headcanon wise, this is such a small nitpick, but Hashirama constantly being the one described as warm whereas Madara is cold. The big tree can *retain* heat, but he pales in comparison to Madara's ability to *generate* heat.
Favorite pairing with:
Hashimada (Hashirama x Madara)
No one should be surprised. I can wax prose about this for days but it's about ultimately finding someone else in a terrible world that *understands* you that you can grow with and support. I'm a sucker for friends to lovers and battle couples so guess what's right up my alley?
Favorite friendship:
Canon/BoaF- Hashirama & Mito
I know Madara & Mito is more popular, and I do love their dynamic but christ Hashirama needs friends outside Madara and Tobirama and I think they'd be good friends. Canon!Mito would provide a good level-headed perspective and wouldn't have the messy, complicated history like the three founders have together and it'd be good for Hashirama to get a break from that. BoaF!Mito and Hashirama are cousins their relationship eventually progresses to a sibling-like bond. They’re quite protective of each other and gossip endlessly together. Mito’s not as good as gardening, but they do it together and incorporate Uzumaki sealing techniques for certain houseplant decorations. Mito also might know about Madara 👀
OoT-Hashirama & Sakura or Hashirama & Sai
His and Sakura's relationship is p similar to how I would characterize his and Mito's but with the added hilarity of Sakura being his "student" yet having 0 deference for him once they actually get to the "teaching" part (surprise: Hashirama's most uttered lines are "you do the thing, you know the thing, you know you just...do it. The thing. Madara "translates" a lot of their sessions.) Hashirama and Sai antagonize each other constantly and he *will* tease Sai into oblivion as any older brother would. Tobirama never reacted to Hashirama's mischief in ~fun~ ways and he felt bad about messing with Itama, who was even more emotional than he was and Kawarama, who hero-worshipped him. Sai is the perfect "if anyone messes with you I will personally make them regret being born yet *I* will tease you mercilessly to my hearts content" kind of little brother.
NOTP:
Hashitobi (Hashirama x Tobirama)
I don't do incest. At all. Even "non-incest" aus where they aren't technically related squick me out.
Favorite headcanon:
Hashirama can Speak to the trees.
Either humorously or seriously, I love this kinda, sorta, maybe not quite human power.
.
.
Madara
What I love about them:
Madara is kind and does his best to do what he thinks is right. The “kind” point is a lot of Hashirama talking/flashbacks and the “good” intention behind the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Making everyone a “winner” in the dreamworld, while absolutely insane and full of holes, is odd for a villain’s motivation. His role in the war arc is mostly focused on watching him wreck absolutely everyone he comes into contact with but I love Hashirama’s flashbacks and the glimpses of kid!Madara we get. Madara believed in his philosophy from a lifetime of pain that ended in him losing everything and being manipulated but he was still seeking a way to “help” the most people he could. He’s such a rich character that makes it easy to want to imagine other what-if scenarios where things turned out just a bit differently.
What I hate about them:
Madara takes all responsibility onto himself. This is more speculation because we don’t get Madara’s POV of his childhood or any significant scenes with the clan. However, I think this is one of the primary roots of most of Madara’s problems. If he blamed himself for mistakes that weren’t technically his, he could get into a cycle where he only blames himself and doesn’t seek help/support when he should have and purposefully reduces his support circle because he becomes paranoid that he won’t be able to protect them. A smaller issue that is both about Madara and not is he didn’t fall victim to the Talk no Jutsu, but was Madara aware of what was happening when he was possessed(?) by Kaguya? I forgot but if he wasn’t...I don’t think he’d agree Hashirama’s way was the right way at the end, merely his way was wrong. Because, in Madara’s point of view, the village may have been “better” (used very loosely) than becoming food/power for an alien goddess but it wasn’t good. It wasn’t the solution. Hashirama saying they were both wrong in some way saved the scene but Madara still jumped back to Hashirama’s dream being the right one too quickly imo.
Favorite Moment/Quote:
“What are you going to do about the second [meteor] Onoki?”
I’m sorry, that was just hilarious. We see this man slaughter an entire division and drop a meteor from the sky...two kages desperately try to stop it and it looks like they managed to succeed and he just...cool. What about the second? Really cemented Madara is Here and he is Dramatic. A close second fav is him flying across the battlefield to confront Hashirama only for the “I’ll deal with you later” line.
What I would like to see more focus on:
I really love it when fics fill in the blanks of Madara’s childhood/his time with the Uchiha so that’s always a plus for me. The other thing is Hashirama calls Madara a “fundamentally kind man” and according to Tobirama the Uchiha feel love “too deeply” so I like fics that do focus on these aspects of Madara’s personality while staying true to his prickly demeanor. For headcanons I love, love, love exploring kekkei genkai/ninjutsu/genjutsu and how they individually affect people/clans. Digging deeper so that “fire affinity” means constantly running hot/pushing into possibly having fire resistance/unable to distinguish “too hot” / or even affinity acting like a secondary blood type so even if two people had AB blood if one had a water affinity and the other fire their blood would be incompatible. Also the mundane ways powers can be used (I have some Ideas for non-combat genjustu applications that the Uchiha use and those will come up in OoT 👀)
What I would like to see less focus on:
This again kinda ties into the Hashirama segments, but Madara completely depending on Hashirama and Hashirama alone for happiness. Especially in long AUs where he’s still in Konoha but has a poor relationship with the Uchiha. That’s fine starting out! But if the fic ends or doesn’t seriously work on improving that relationship it just sits a bit weird with me bc I don’t think Madara could be truly happy in that situation. (NSFW start) The other thing I see commonly is Madara is extremely passive/submissive in bed with Hashirama which is...weird to me? There’s also a reoccurring thing where he doesn’t have a lot of experience but Hashirama does and this leads to embarrassment and the aforementioned passive/submissiveness. I understand lack of experience can be embarrassing and I do believe Madara could be embarrassed, but instead of withdrawing into himself I think he’d push through it with something close to bravado and his usual single-minded intensity, for better or worse. I do think Madara usually bottoms in his and Hashirama’s relationship but both of them are as enthusiastic about sex as they are fighting and neither is especially submissive or dominant. (NSFW end)
Favorite pairing with:
Hashimada (Hashirama x Madara)
See absolutely everything else 😂
Favorite friendship:
Canon/BoaF- Madara & Naori or Madara & Hikkaku
I really like focusing on the Uchiha clan and exploring the dynamics within it. We get nothing about Madara’s early life outside of Hashirama so this is almost completely speculation. For the angst of canon, I like Madara being close to his clan only to lose them after his friendship with Hashirama is revealed bc he awakened his sharingan over Hashirama and that can’t be easily hidden. For BoaF, a large part of it is exploring the clans’ cultures before they made the village so this necessitates actually fleshing out said clans. Naori and Izuna are v similar in personality and both live to prank Madara and annoy him, but they hardly ever team up bc they start squabbling amongst themselves. Hikakku is stoic and calm in contrast to Naori’s mania and Madara’s intensity but he keeps track of every little favor and Madara dreads the day he’ll act on them because he knows it’ll result in something embarrassing for him. But like all BoaF!Uchiha, they’re fiercely protective of one another and you really don’t want to insult the wrong person.
OoT - Madara & Naruto or Madara & Sai
I really Madara and Naruto’s dynamic, it’s very entertaining and fun for me to write and they’re both positive influences on each other. Madara gets more people to smother with his brand of affection and Naruto gets early recognition and training. Their weird non-training shenanigans (coupon collecting, gaming, etc.) also is p amusing. Madara and Sai have a similar relationship but I really like writing theirs from Sai’s POV bc he insists that he doesn’t feel close/like when Madara treats him like a little brother when he really does.
NOTP:
Madatobi (Madara x Tobirama)
Logically, I know why this pairing is popular. Fanfic is saturated with the enemies to lovers trope yet emotionally I Do Not Understand it. Personally, I don’t enjoy toxic relationships, to read or write. And, to me, that’s what a close canon Madara and Tobirama pairing would be. Tobirama tried to convince Hashirama to kill him, he killed Izuna, even if it was in war, and I don’t think Madara could or would get over that. If Tobirama has similar attitudes about the Uchiha it makes it worse. AUs exist to rewrite this, of course, but I still don’t enjoy their romantic chemistry. At best, I like Tobirama and Madara as reluctant frenemies who insult each other and try to one-up each other.
Favorite headcanon:
Madara is fire proof.
I have a whole rant about this in OoT’s author notes 😂 Sasuke’s Amaterasu should have been a serious threat when it hit him. Instead the man just lets his clothes fall off then kicks their asses. He’s fire proof.
.

Nova Wilding doesn’t have time for Romance. She doesn’t have much time for anything. After her father’s assassination, she’s now the head of her family’s game development company and also in high demand as a mate. Alpha after alpha has attempted to woo her, to no avail. And her disinterest hasn’t stopped a pushy beta from trying to weasel his way into power and into her bed. What she needs is a protector.
Enter Owen Harding, former Army now turned bodyguard. During his years of service, he was captured and experimented on... his inner beast mutated. Now he’s home again and trying to get a new start. A new start that doesn’t include a sexy gaming heiress.
But when a bomb explodes and tensions rise, Owen and Nova can’t seem to stop the heat... nor do they really want to.
Tumblr media
I went into this book with zero expectations and in fact was somewhat prepared to disappointed. I’ve read a lot of shifter romances that are thinly veiled non-con fantasies. But this isn’t one of them. And fairly good chunk of the plot is related to the main female characters agency and her choices. Yay! I liked that her wants were considered and that those who weren’t listening to her were very clearly portrayed in a negative light.
I also liked the main male character’s personality. He’s damaged, but in a way that makes sense. He’s got PTSD, but it’s mostly under control... and like a lot of guys doesn’t really want to get the help he needs, but he has people who he can rely on. But I do admit, I would have liked it better had he gone to therapy.
Tumblr media
The romance worked for me and believed the attraction between the two main leads. The sex is okay. Not totally memorable, but not memorable in a bad way either LOL.
The best thing about this book is the secondary plot going on there. I found it super interesting and I don’t want to spoil too much, because I really did enjoy it.
I didn’t love that I felt like I was missing some things. I suspect that this is a sequel series to another of the author’s series and that’s where my confusion came from. I’m not the biggest fan of that, TBH but it seems to be a thing now in Romance.
Tumblr media
I do need to give some content warnings for those people looking for them. The first is there is some internalized ableism from the main male character. The second is that there is an attempt at coercion and non-con by a not good character The second is that there is an attempt at coercion and non-con by a not good character.  The third is there is medical trauma in the main male characters past and some pretty graphic descriptions of torture both in the story itself as well as in the main male characters past. Finally there is stalking. So for those of you who can’t handle that be aware that these triggers are present in this story. Ultimately I enjoyed the story and will be checking out more from this author. Four Stars

.  𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠
&&. ( kwon sihwa ), the ( 23 ) year old ( daughter ) of the prime minister of ( south korea). she is often confused with ( moon gayoung ). some say that she is ( resentful & dishonest ), but she is actually ( responsible & loyal )
biography. profile. pinterest .  kwons.
( template credit: @lubsofrph )
♡ .    *cowboy vc* howdy and yeehaw, i’m nai ( but you can call me whatever you like, i also accept the nicknames clown, cowboy clown, naicha ( bcs milktea is life) and i’m bringing you kwon sihwa for some juicy drama and petty girl energy dsdndns i haven’t joined a rp for quite a while, so i apologize if i’m a little slow with some things. ( grandma needs help .... ( i am grandma ) )
anyway, i’m super excited to be here, bcs you all seem to be such lovely and sweet people and i’d love to write and plot with all of you bcs i’m a greedy bitch dndnssn ! if you are interested in plotting 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄  this post ( do ppl still do this ??? ) or simply shoot me an IM ( if u prefer discord we can also plot there ), below u will find a short summary ( if i manage to write one ) and some hcs ( or u can read her bio, but also don’t bcs i wanna rewrite it snddsdd ) !  i love u muahh 💕
♡ . sihwa is the second and youngest daughter of the south korean prime minister and has been pretty much ignored like half of her life ( if not more -- )
♡ . sihwa likes to blame that on her older sister yihwa. blame it on her being insanely jealous or just starved for the recognition and love of her parents but this is probably the main reason sihwa started to grow apart from her sister ( and might as well resent her ... sometimes ... often ...)
♡ . in fact there wasn’t much of a sibling rivalry when they were young. quite the contrary was the case and sihwa adored yihwa. ironically, she loved to be called the shadow of her sister because naive little sihwa thought it was meant as a compliment, meaning that she was always by her sister’s side -
♡ . when she grew up, she finally noticed that being called the shadow of her sister, was never meant to be a compliment. and finally the realization set in that her parents favored yihwa over sihwa ( big yikes ).
♡ . truth to be told, sihwa used to be a pretty confident kid. honestly, she knew her worth and was always proud of her academic success. that is why she jsut couldn’t grasp the fact that their parents were pushing yihwa while completely ignoring every of her achievements. it did not only hurt her ego ( buhuuu ) but also her (coughs) feelings.
♡ . consequently, she tried to be even better. perfect to be precise. however, nothing she did seem to satisfy their parents and she pretty much gave up the idea on being the perfect daughter.
♡ . here comes her rebellious phase. if she couldn’t get her parents attention by being perfect she did the opposite and rebelled against everything her parents wanted her to do. it was a silent cry for attention no one seemed to notice.
♡ . she pretty much continued being this way until yihwa left and the veil over her parent eyes had been lifted and suddenly she wasn’t so invisible anymore.
♡ . she barely had time for feeling betrayed by her sister. in some twisted way she felt like yihwa left sihwa for her passion ( although their relationship had been pretty bad since long time ago )  but this thought was put aside pretty quickly as she grabbed the opportunity right in front of her. replacing yihwa but also proving that she can do better than her.
personality ( this is me somehow trying to sum up her personality
although sihwa doesn’t appear to a particularly emotional person, her actions speak louder than words. despite, being pretty calculated when she wants to, knowing what to say and how to act in order to get what she wants, her actions are all fueled by her emotions. she had pretty much remained her vulnerable core ( which she likes to deny ), however, as she grew up she learned to hide it.
sihwa had always been pretty opinionated ( which probably disrupted the peaceful family dinners quite often ), it’s is difficult if not impossible to change her views on something. if she had formed an opinion about something or someone she won’t let anyone convince her that she is wrong ( don’t even dare to mutter that she is wrong - ). however, this is probably what also makes her loyal and if someone is on her good, side she won’t give up on them ( since her opinion rarely changes ) and rather believe her self than the opinion of some random person.
headcanons/ additional info bcs they’re fun and i want to show how petty sihwa can get ....
- sihwa attended cheong-a art school, a prestige music school known for producing several well-know musicians. due to her stage fright, sihwa messed up her audition and several points were deducted. however, kwon yijeong made sure that no one would know about his daughter’s imperfect auditon and made sure that every video material would be deleted and that sihwa would enroll.
- sihwa had often been labelled as a gifted kid due to her acadameic performances. this led her to believe that she had to be good at everything else as well. it made her impatient and she often gets frustrated if she isn’t good at something immediately. which is also the reason she almost gave up playing the cello
- sihwa is petty. really really really petty. especially when it comes to yihwa. it was only because of her sister, that heels became an essential piece of her wardrobe so she can be taller than her sister to assert her dominance or whatever she is trying to do. although, she is naturally taller than her sister without heels, she has that irratonal fear that she might encounter yihwa when she is wearing heels but sihwa isn’t. so she has no choice but to wear heels all the time.
- sihwa owns a black cat. she called her milk because she thought she would be creative by calling her the opposite what she looks like. however, many people seemed to have thought the same. this realization is something which sometimes keeps her up at night.
- talking about her cat. at first she wanted to adopt a white cat. but when she heard that black cats are not as often adopted as other cats she felt bad for the cat bcs somehow she related it to herself and her own experiences ( rip ).
- sihwa had some kind of emo/goth/scene kid phase ( reference: pinterest board --> back then lol ). it was her own form of rebellion and in fact she managed to annoy her parents with it. rumors among the staff say that rarely any family portraits of the time sihwa went to high school exist because it was also the time she had her ‘rebellious phase’. some even claim that if there are some photographs, baek shikyung had hired a professional to photoshop a smile on yihwa’s phase as she looked pissed in every of the portrait.....

None of this is particularly new but w/e, it’s sleepy midnight wonderings o’clock, having been thinking about the new WIPs in relation to TN and the DWR teaser (Cut for length). The images are messy caps and a random assortment of sizes and so best viewed individually because the thumbnail doesn’t always focus on the bit/all of the bit that I was trying to point to.
In the EA Play WIPs, the tree in the first shot recalls the tree depicted in the 2018 DWR teaser trailer - both are elfy, dark-barked and have spreading branches devoid of leaves. I feel that this was an intentional callback and contains potent symbolism.
Back to some old hat mural burbling for a sec: The mural is interesting, as depending on how you look at it, the tree is ruined by flames ("burning in the raw chaos" indeed) and is on fire, and the Solas-y figure has passed by it on his way to do his thing (unfortunate unavoidable damage/casualties). Alternately, it’s standing untouched among the flames despite the fire, the rest of the land is burning in the chaos and the Solas-y figure is protecting the tree (placed himself between it and the rest) which is likely representative of the elven People by doing what he’s doing wiith the Veil and standing there w/ that ‘Gandalf you shall not pass’ shtick. What’s interesting is that in this series it’s probably both or a combination of both interpretations which is the truth.
In Tevinter Nights, we of course learn that Solas is in the process of, or intends to soon begin the process of, carrying out a ritual of some kind which will bring down the Veil. With this in mind, looking back at Nick Thornborrow’s mural, the circles don’t just represent the Thedosian ‘layers of creation’ and things associated with these (the barrier of the Veil, the separation of the different worlds, black-and-gold banding [Black City/Golden City], the 7 hemispheres [7 old gods? 7 remaining Evanuris?] and so on). I think they also represent a ritual, or ritual-in-progress; they remind me of the concentric rings and similar sigils often found in old alchemical symbols (alchemy being a practise where people tried to change the nature of materials), and the concentric rings in our world which are sometimes found at places which are often held in popular culture to have been sacred ritual or ceremonial sites (2) in ancient times.
Regarding the mural, there are interpretations that the figure on the left is warding off the encroaching Dread Wolf, or rather, protecting creation - the world - from what the DW is doing. There are also interpretations that the figure is not Solas, and others. These are valid ideas, and the beauty of DA material is in the fact that it sets folk to guessing and generating several different takes on what we’re presented with. For me, given that the figure was confirmed to be bald by the artist and that it appears to have the distinctive pelt slung on its shoulder, I read it to be Solas (I do accept tho that in-game art often depicts ancient elves in general as bald). I also read the whole thing as being both aspects of Solas (Solas the person and Solas the DW) approaching creation/the Veil from both sides in a sort of ‘pincer’ movement (this is not to say that he’s “evil omg”; his designs are intended to save the People, the world that was, and/or maybe the entire world). Lastly, it’s popularly assumed ofc that the mural depicts Solas trying to take down the Veil.
This particular reading of the mural is old ground and an 0.2 I’ve posted before. I mention it because it brings me to the ritual. Post-TN I wondered about the specifics involved in his ritual, agreeing with the Mortalitasi’s summation that it will involve a lot of lyrium. Here I was struck by the spread and presence of red lyrium in the WIPs. In the mural, you have the figure with red eyes and en-haloed by a sphere of red. You also have the DW, red-eyed and with crackles of red emanating from it. The red lyrium idol is obviously present right in the middle. It’s the very center of everything, and from TN clearly the major key to Solas’ plans. In the teaser, red lyrium crackles all over the idol, but the bit that always gets me most is the part where the camera pans over the spread of red lyrium crackles up the spine of one of the figures depicted in the idol. That figure is bald, and the one being comforted by the other which has the Mythal-esque crown. If the descriptions of the idol and Solas’ supposed-reaction to it in TN are anything to go by, the idol ofc looks to be depicting Mythal, crowned, with Solas.
This is going to sound stupid, but the spine is a key structure in the human body, that encloses and protects a major component of the CNS (which controls a heck of a lot of what we do). This isn’t the first time people have worried about whether Solas is or will be affected by red lyrium. The whole thing interests me because of the nature of red lyrium (ex. veins) as revealed by Bianca; that it’s alive, since Blight only infects living things. Its spread across Thedas is kinda (fantastically) quasi-biological in nature, like cancer in an organism or mold through old food.**
Back to the ritual (all sense of structure in this post is non-existent lol), maybe the Mortalitasi’s assumption needs to be revised or made more specific. Given all the red.. mayhaps Solas’ ritual doesn’t just require lots of lyrium in addition to the use of the idol, it specifically requires lots of red lyrium..? This might make sense in light of all the red in the mural, and considering the fact that red lyrium is more potent and therefore more powerful than the normal form of the substance. Red lyrium like normal lyrium is also noted to be able to thin the Veil. It stands to reason that lots of it might be able to bring the whole thing down. Taking this back to the mural, the red crackles emanating from the DW look to be what is causing the cracks through the circles - which are representative, remember, of a ritual-in-progress as well as the Veil itself - into the inner sanctum. Is red lyrium is what’s breaking the Veil, what’s fuelling and catalyzing the ritual to bring it down? Solas! What are you doing (obviously yh he has his reasons for doing it, to save his people/restore what used to be, and potentially more). What grabs me here is that red lyrium is a double-edged sword. An idol made of red lyrium is key to his plans to bring down the Veil, but the rampant unstoppable spread of red lyrium across modern Thedas also simultaneously appears (and is widely noted by fandom to be) to be one of the serious problems facing the modern world that Solas is implied to be trying to save it from. (desperate times, desperate measures indeed)
** the spread of red lyrium and its effects on people and the land is a whole topic in and of itself
Alt take (equally plausible): the red lyrium crackles in the mural = just the destructive spread of red lyrium across the world of Thedas in general (which is a big threat to everything, including ‘creation’ itself. Solas is concerned with protecting the “sea of dreams”, for instance) and the red coloring in the figure and the DW is the effects on Solas of his using of the idol to stop this (by taking down the Veil and ‘resetting’ reality).
Alt takes on the mural (also equally plausible): It’s Solas vs the DW in that he’s conflicted and at war with himself over what he’s doing; it’s Solas vs the DW in that he’s protecting the world or the People from it or from a threat; it’s not Solas and represents someone else such as the Ink or next PC facing off against the DW; the idol represents the Black City in the center of the Fade; the idol represents the ‘center’ of the red lyrium that’s spreading across Thedas threatening everything / the Origin of the Blight itself [I don’t mean a literal center of it so much as it’s a core problem, although.. maybe that’s the beating mass of red lyrium in the WIPs?] and the mural depicts Solas protecting the world and/or the People from the threat of it; the idol doesn’t represent the physical item but rather the circumstances depicted by the idol (the couple, or the god mourning her sacrifice, or the crowned figure comforting the other - so it’s about the individuals these are, and the event commemorated by it, thus centering them in the plot of the upcoming game and showing that this interaction that transpired between them was a key moment in everything that happened before).

Things i loved about season 4
- The Nun scene. Honestly the sheer level of galaxy brain Ludo Besse has when writting these seasons lol. It was a very clever pararell to have the nun mistake Sana for another Sister, in a country as catholic as Italy, its al simple way of putting the hijab into perspective, no one sees a nun and thinks the same things they do when they see a muslim girl wearing a veil, even when they are essentially pretty similar: an expression of their religion. I really liked it (and the conversation under the candlelight just felt a whole other level of intimate so thats a plus)
- The Luai storyline. Man i loved this bit of the season, can we talk about the scene where Nico and Luai see each other at the club? The song choice? The shots? GOLDEN. I like that there are no real villains in this story (except for Luai's parents) what happened between them wasnt the result of someone in the baloon squad being homophobic, they were both victims of the circumstances and i love that Luai currently has a boyfriend, i've never been happier for a side character in my life.
- Sana. I enjoyed Sana a lot, she is sweet, she is akward, is a different take on her character and i liked it very much. What i loved the most was that the side plots from the og are still mostly there but this time they are constructed so they still revolve around Sana and her struggles. After the fight with Marti and the Rose Squad when she stays there alone with blood on her hand and both of her worlds (the contrabandieri and the Rose Squad) just walk away from her and she is just crying...that hit me hard (kudos to Bea, her acting was also very good), it made the scene more about her and what it meant for her than about the external drama, and then she justs keeps getting hit when she hears the UFB talking about her and finally Eva and Malik kissing... i could feel the weight of everything that had happened that night just falling on her shoulders and my heart shrank...her character was so well constructed im glad she got such a great season.
- The Rose Squad. I loved them, three out of four of them have clear characterization and it just placed them really high on my list...Ludo managed to make me care about Luai who has a total of like, 5 lines so i think its safe to say they are very well written and very well used.
-Filippo. At this point Filo is the father of half of that school i swear, it laughed so much with his scenes, from drunk Rami to Martino being a mess and just giving up on life in Filo's bedroom, also the fan service with Elia, i would've enjoyed it more had they not implaid that Elia was going to date Emma there at the end. (We stan safe sex kids)
- Episode 8. Was such a beautiful episode to watch, Martino and Sana are one of my favorite Isak-Sana dynamics after Amira and Cris, i loved their conversation cause it was more about understanding each other, Sana was right about some things and Martino was right about others, it was nice to see her finally open up to someone after just botteling up her emotions for the entire season, it was really sweet. Her message to the girls was heartbreaking, i legit cried and had to rewind the video cause my vision kept getting blurry and i kept missing parts of her speech, again Bea's acting really helped here, episode 8 was Sana not only opening up to her friends, but to us as the audience, that even after 7 episodes on her POV, still didnt understand her actions very well, it was a nice way of complementing the new perspectice her convo with Marti had given us, i loved it. (Also hide and seek to reunite Niccotino? I love Ludo Besse)
- The girl squad. I always thought Eva was very underapreciated (which is why i adore Skam España for giving her more to do after her season), i dont know why, but since the first time i saw norweiang Eva's season she stayed in my heart, and this version of Eva is one i love as well, i enjoyed her character and honestly her last scene with Gio? GOLD, her letter? One of the best things to come out of the Skam universe, i want to thank Ludo for handling her with such love. Silvia i really liked, her clip really puts things into perspective and i love that they kept her cat as an actual consistent plot device, she's had a nice character development, from wanting desperately to be noticed by the school coolest boy, to simply not caring about boys to finally opening up to someone, truly letting them in and accept herself, no only her body, but who she was. Finally Fede... the backstory of why she spoke to Sana was something i really appreciated, as well as the fact of her being so ashamed of what she he had done, i like that story because it shows how people can change once their prejudice is deconstructed, specially at that age we are the product of the education we were given, things like homophobia, sexism or xenophobia althought still not acceptable for a teenager, dont mean that they can't be redeemed, that their world view can't change in the future and that they can't grow. It was nice, you may have been an asshole in the past but as long as you understand what you did wrong and geniunly apologize, there is no reason for us to think someone cannot be redeemed.
- Every. Malik. And. Sana. Scene. Was so amazingly shot and constructed that even when i understood 30% of the dialogue the first time i watched it without subtitles i was smiling like an idiot, the date scene, those last few seconds? Them just staring into each others eyes? No kiss scene would've made us feel what that made us feel and that is a testament not only to good acting, but to the amazing direction of Ludo Besse.
- Ludovico Bessegato. This man has so much love for this project it shows on the end result, Skam Italia is pretry similar to the og in terms of plot, but Ludo made it stand out with his characters, his cinematography and some minor changes. The result is a story most of us already knew and loved with characters that some of us might love more than the originals in a setting that for me personally is more relatable than the norweiang one and has earned a place in my heart. I still can't believe he alone had to manage social media for the first seasons and had to fight with Timvision to get the show done, im so happy his work, and the work of all the other people who poured their hearts into this project (including the actors) got rewarded in such a way.
- The final speech. I understood very little of it while watching the first time, but that didnt stop me from crying like a baby while Gio read the letter, i found i cared for every person on that screen, from all of them i had good memories on the show and i couldn't believe that a fictional story could make such an impact in me, specially since this is the second time i see it, i'm probably way to biased with this show and the truth is idk why,i couldn't pin point the things that make me love it the way i do, i just do, and i am very satisfied with this ending, if this is the end.

I was tagged by @a-tear-in-the-veil, thank you very much! I want to tag someone that may enjoy this [you are free to do it or ignore it, up to you @schrodingerthings] And @matsuorka!! [sorry, I was super sleepy when I did this!]. Anyone else who wants to join in on the fun, tag me in your interviews. :)
Fic Writer Interview
Name: Asunder Wolf
Fandoms: Baldur's Gate 3, Divinity: Original Sin 2, The Dragon Prince, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines combined with Mage: The Ascension , The Longest Journey, Moebius: Empire Rising, Ace Attorney, Sailor Moon (in Spanish only).
Where you post: Everything in AO3
Most Popular One-shot: I don't write one-shots usually. The only one I have is the one of Technomancer, pretty old, and... you certainly can't say it's popular. Probably only 3 people read it XD.
Most Popular Multichap: The one that belong to Ace Attorney. The most monstrous fic I've ever written.
Favourite story you’ve written so far: That one of Ace Attorney. Two years of work before publishing. Also, my fic of DOS2 has a lot of love. I really wanted to fix that crappy slide-ending and I was carried away. Still I don’t feel I made the meta plot correctly... but well.
Fic you were nervous to post: The one that belongs to DOS2. It works with a char who experienced terrible things and I always tried to be careful and tactful about it. Still, I feel a bit unsure about it and the response that I may get eventually. Good thing is that I have really few readers, so I'm safe.  Lol
How do you choose your titles: They are always linked to the concept of the fic. Some metaphor (or simple fact) associated on what the fic focus the most.
Do you outline: Of course! Outline, flux maps, and many sheets where I gather all the characters’ traits, past, future, goals, even speech patterns. It's impossible for me to write in the air. Consistency is important, even though sometimes I fail despite all my efforts. I’m a person who writes without much sleep.
Complete: Everything. If it's not finished, I won't begin to publish it. The one I'm working on right now (which belongs to bg3) has been finished a month after the game released. At least its draft. All these months are only editions and proofreads and endless polishing of the text.
In progress: The one of BG3, technically. Because I finished the whole story related to the early access game, but a second part will come up when the whole game is released. However, I'm already working in the second part, since a lot of scenes just pop up in my head and I will see how they fit or not depending on how the game and the story of bg3 continues.
Prompts?: I don't like to write one-shots, for that reason I’m not into prompts. They lack of all the details I want to explore that only multichapter format and foreshadowing allow you.
Upcoming work you’re most excited about: my Baldur’s Gate 3 fic. I’m still keep polishing every fucking day.

That Time of the Year Again (tm): Get ready for MCF 21: the Harbinger commentary!
It’s that time of the year yet again! Mystery Case Files 21: The Harbinger commentary. If anyone has been waiting for the hilarity that is my commentaries, I’m sorry I’m late this year. I actually started working as a freelance writer, and projects are coming in hot. Plus a recent family matter (not COVID-related. I’m thankfully in one of the safest places from it.) meant I had to put this on a back-burner. And then I guess I left it there for too long and triggered the smoke alarm, and people entered my inbox going “Are you okay???” So without further ado, let’s get this started. *cracks fingers* I have DUAL MONITORS NOW which means I can see my commentary AND watch the playthrough at the same time. (Yet, I still DON’T have a credit card. This is the new running joke.) I’m going to be watching YouGib’s playthough. Pazu also has his playthrough up. Spoilers below the cut as usual!
First, Grandma? A new studio? (A quick google shows they have done quite a bit of HOP titles and series.) Welcome to the MCF family! I hope you’re ready for the roasting that’s ahead. 8D MD: You mean the roasting they’ll let me do, right? I don’t know if they would be so nice as to grant you such catharsis right away. MD: Damn… It’s Grandma though. There’ll at least be cookies, right?
I like how “The” is in a place where you can almost read it as “The Mystery Case Files”, which MCF honestly deserves at this point. 21 years! That’s old enough to drink in the US!
(MD: Hm, old fashion building and clothes? Are we having some anachronistic adventure again--) CAT. Black cat. This is Isis. (MD: Not all black cats are Isis…) Yes they are. They are to me--
*Crystal ball* SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT.
Captions: (Otherworldly scream) Why yes, yes game, thank you for describing my exact reaction to seeing that darn crystal ball. I love this self-awareness and I hope it stays.
Oh nooooo, green beam of light… (Green was the color of souls used in old Ravenhearst games, and also the type of light that the Archivist from Moths to a Flame evaporated into, iirc.)
MD: Hm, a harbinger usually means something worse is coming up. So who’s harbinger to whom I wonder? Well you could say Emma, Madame Fate, or Victor was the harbinger to Charles, and then Charles himself was a harbinger to Alistair, who apparently was harbinger to the twins, who were also harbinger to Alistair again-- MD: Yes, I know, thank you, please stop. --and then he was harbinger to a Lord Ravenhearst who we never saw again, and then we picked it up again somehow to Phineas Crown though that was much earlier and the pirate was a harbinger of himself in a sense. In fact, I guess in a metasense, you could say each MCF game is a harbinger of the next-- MD: You haven’t even gotten past the opening so PLEASE STOP.
Hm, game difficulty settings-- no Master Detective level. Ten marks off. :( MD: Okay that’s unfair. Also Hardcore is one word. MD: Hey, I’m the pyromaniac, okay? Chill! (Me at recording: pick helpful messages, pick it! PICK IT!)
OH, a CHOICE?! Oh, wait, it’s just the main game and extra content.
THEY GAVE YOU YOUR BUGGY BACK. THEY GAVE IT BAAAAACK. AAAAAHHH. MD: Interior’s a little different, but yes, I HAVE MY CAR BACK AND NOTHING CAN STOP ME NOW. MWAHAHAHA-- Queen: Something strange is happening in Darkmoor. MD: *Does a 180 and goes back home* [The end.] Just kidding. :P I love how all the names of the places we’re going to immediately screams DANGER. MD: If I turned back every time I heard a name like that, I would be a very different person today. Probably saner, less salty, and generally happier.
It took me a while to see clearly, but the bobblehead looks like default MD (the costume seems to be inspired by the Fate Carnival collectibles)! We can now safely assume that MD is either really afraid of the cold, or very, very desperately trying to hide their identity. MD: Don’t tell anyone… but the getup is like a security blanket. ...One that you wear?! MD: Shhhhhh not so loud…….
Queen: Several keywords related to your previous cases-- What keywords? What are they? MD: Ravenhearst? Souls? Pirates? Skulls? Crystal Ball? Madame Fate? Dire Grove? Death herself? Queen: I’m not revealing this mystery… it’ll give the whole plot away! ...Okay, I’m putting ten on Victor, twenty on Charlotte, thirty on Alistar, and a hundred on Charles-- MD: You CHEATER you were spoiled while GOOGLING. --actually, I should do a bingo board instead. Yeah, I’m gonna do that. (And then she spends ten minutes wasting time on that, before giving up. We are at… 2 minutes in of the playthrough. This is normal.)
Queen: We’ve detected a possible energy anomaly-- MD: I’m sorry, we have DONE WHAT?! You guys have technology for that??? MD: Where was this technology for like…. The past ten cases? I really could have used some of that before heading in! (Somewhere in the world, the Mystery Tracker detective hides his gadgets…) (Post video edit: Speaking off, he seems to have gone UFO now.)
*Radio fizzes out* MD: That’s not good. Um… UP AHEAD. MD: THAT’S REALLY NOT GOOD. DETECTIVE TAKE THE WHEEL!!!! MD: THIS BUGGY IS STILL ON MORTGAGE NO. (And the MD, the bobblehead, literally lost their head, lol.)
Gibs is definitely feeling the stylistic difference. I personally don’t think it detracts from the game right now, and if anything, it can open new avenues for MCF to explore. Also, awwww it’s not our old buggy, but hey, I like the red!
MD: Okay… agency device. Better use this to scan for creepy crawly energies. I’m so sad it’s not something you can get attached to… MD: I’m pretty damn attached to my new car, thank you very much. Well, the windshield is already broken, so I think it’s been marked as “readily expendable” emotionally. :P (Machine sort of reminds me of the old machine from Huntsville, actually… which did appear again in… Rewind?)
Wow, that royal decree is like… a permission slip from mom. XD MD: Enough to get people’s attention, but not enough for them to treat me seriously. You would think with lives at stake, they would send something more official? MD: If they did, I might just be out of a job, because half of my job seems to involve waiting for people to get in trouble. Also, marking this officer Davis down as “guy who might get into trouble later and need rescuing”.
...Okay, you know what the device could have been? A portable TV head. MD: I will PUNT that metal box so hard if they handed me one! Missed moment of creepy, honestly.
“The agency never ceases to amaze me”??? MD: I meant that in both the “wow, I can’t believe this is what you used our money on!” and the “wow, I can’t believe this is where you used our money instead of that other really important thing we could have had” sense. Never cease to amaze you in how disappointed you are at them, then. MD: After our last security breach, yes.
Solved Case Files, omg. And you carry it on your car.XD MD: The therapist said I needed to “express my outrage” more healthily than arson. And you made the WORLD NEWS???? Whatever happened to being the most secretive person in the world?! MD: Shhhhh let them keep guessing… (Also, Bobblehead isn’t our MD, it seems. A case of mistaken identity. Awww….)
Guy in purple: I didn’t do anything wrong! Hm, this guy is sus… also, we’re in the UK, confirmed? MD: ...As if the name didn't’ give it already. Also, SIR, SIR, YOU DROPPED YOUR purse……. Well I guess it’s my purse now.
Tarot cards as collectibles! More Madame Fate coming up?
Wow, that police station entrance was a time machine. We’re back in modern-day old town England! MD: ….pattern on floor, sus… Aaaaand power outage. Cue bars. Policeman trapped. Oops. MD: Number of people that needed rescuing is now one, and is exactly as I predicted.
Police: Um, can you come closer? I dunno man, you behind bars, pretty sus. Maybe you’re not a real police. Police: Oh please. We talking real? How about your prove you’re the real Master Detective-- MD: *Hands Queen’s note* Police: Right that’ll work. (We didn’t get to flash our badge?!)
Wait, you’re in a ROYAL AGENCY??? Did you.... change agencies or something??? MD: After the last game, can you really blame me if a headhunter came asking? Me: No but… you work for the CROWN???? MD: Hey, if me collecting stories for Grandma Queen wasn’t obvious enough, I don’t know what else to say.
Wow, an ACTUAL FLASH DRIVE. We’re actually in modern day society. XD Albeit one with really industrial looking computers. (Now I need to go and check if the old games used floppy disks…)
Witness 1: It’s not like she has a crystal ball! Suspect purple: Yeah, I’m a fair owner. Girl Aisling is a fortune reader. ...Madame Fate, Madame FATE, MADAME FATE. MD: Okay, maybe that cat WAS Isis after all. Guy: She likes watching ravens. MD and I, simultaneously: FUCK.
I have to say, the puzzles are quite refreshingly different from ones that have appeared in the past. Me likey.
Gibs sees victim photo on autopsy table: What a handsome devil he is! Me: *Dies laughing and fails to make comments for a while*
Oh wow, you can write coherently again! Actual journals! Clear sketches! (Actual cutscene replay???? TWENTY POINTS.) MD: Therapy can be a wonderful thing sometimes. ...Please tell me you’re talking actual therapy and not “I got to explode a ship and the pirates on it” therapy. MD: Well, that counts as therapy still, right?
Okay Madame Fate, if you have a daughter, or this is your granddaughter, please just descend from heaven and let us know right now. (...wait, didn’t Madame Fate have a son? The really big eater guy? Franco!) That said, it says the veil of time, which might be an allusion to the Dark Veil too.
Omg a FAX MACHINE.
Davis: Right, good luck heading into town to the victim’s home! MD: Yep! Thanks for being a rare competent soul in this universe! Really appreciate the help-- [Rose street.] MD: ...Is it too late to turn back? Yes, yes it is entirely too late. 8D Let’s gooooooooo! MD: *sighs*.
SHADOW IN JAMES’ HOUSE! SHADOW! MD: Probably Nigel. He was sneaking around already.
MENTION Of CAT. CAT. MD: ...are you broken? ...Yes. (It’s nearing 1 am. So Kitty commentary might be retroactive below.)
Huh, HOP has sections that unlock objects like in Dark Parables. Neat!
Well, well, well, what do we have here? Small town drama as usual. MD: The predictable disappointment of human nature. Why can’t I just have cases that deal with that? No supernatural stuff, just little town murder mysteries. Little Town Mystery Case Files, coming to a store near you soon! (I’ll be honest, Grandma, I would play that once, just to have MD be completely paranoid over nothing actually supernatural.)
Santa Claus Beard Guy: I hope I didn’t scare you. MD: I’ve had undead grip me through the window. A little shadow doesn’t spook me. A family whose last name begins with a D though rattles them. MD: Please don’t give away my weaknesses so quickly...
Santa Guy: So the cat kicked my ass. Can you get me some medicine? MD: Sure thing. BTW, where is this cat, and how can I recruit it to kick the asses of my enemies?
Eeeeehhhh complex door puzzles are back! Except they are now complex cupboard puzzles.
WOOOOOOOOOW that’s a LYNX if I ever saw one! MD: Hey, remember how I say I’m not good with animals? Too bad, grab the pet carrier, you’ll need it. MD: ...please don’t scratch me. Cat: *Roars* MD: *flips shit, runs and hides*
James has visited the Museum of Mysteries… And what’s with the MCF crest in his diary??? MD: Wait… Allison? ALLISON THE REPORTER??? Omg, James is her BROTHER. THEY HAVE THE SAME LAST TIME EVEN OMG. MD: ……….. I’m NOT going to be the deliverer of this bad news. Hey MD, does that curse that surrounds people associated with you extend to their families? MD: Thank you for going where my brain didn’t want to, now kindly proceed no further. Just morbidly wondering…...
MD: They… they visited all the places that my cases took place. EVEN A HOUSE I REPORTED BURNED DOWN AND EXPLODED. AND THEN CAMPED OUT IN DIRE GROVE. MY GODS ALMIGHTY YOU TWO!!!! ...These siblings don’t have a lot of self-preservation sense, huh? MD: There are some things that should NOT run in the family. This is one of them. (I’ll be honest. Just… HOW can the MD process this kind of guilt??? Kudos to you, Grandma Studios. This is possibly the most evil story choice ever, and you went there. Slow, claps. Seriously. That said there is a small plothole here with James saying he was there when MD rescued Allison. I think that might be a translation/grammar error though.)
Journal: Oh btw John worked on the Ravenhearst manor restoration. MD: *grabs John* WHY. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO ME AND TO THE WORLD?! John: Um….. it was work? MD: SOME PLACES ARE BETTER OFF GONE. Hey, look on the bright side. You can burn it down again as therapy! John: Oh btw, I made the elaborate locks-- MD: *Begins to strangle John* NO HOMICIDES MASTER DETECTIVE! You investigate them, not commit them! MD: TELL ME THAT AFTER I’M DONE.
MD: Okay, John. Let me be clear on one thing. You are now number one sus on my list of “The person that’s gonna betray me in the end” right now, and probably staying there. If you turn out to be one of the Dalimars or their crony in disguise, I will END YOU. Are we clear? John: ………… MD: What? John: You’re more terrifying than James’ cat--
*Another prevention of homicide later…* MD: Alright, fine. Containers, opened. Toy, fixed. “Cat”, got. Now take it and get out. John: Thanks, here is the final piece to that closet door that I totally have been keeping from you this whole time. ….Seriously???? MD: ….Like I said, top of my shitlist. *Reads the closet puzzle poem* On second thought GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE I HAVE QUESTIONS!
James is the greatest dork. He locked his special diary entries with a lock. I’m so sad we didn’t get to meet him in person. Though that said... MD: My gods, some common sense is really missing from this family’s mind. Seeds from the carnival?! A cube from probably dire grove??? How does it feel knowing you contributed indirectly to his demise? 8D MD: ...It’s like seeing someone win the Darwin award and feeling bad that you are the one handing the trophy to them.
Davis: Oh hey, a cassette? Let me go and get the camera for it. We’ll meet later! MD: Wait a second, you’re gonna end up dead if you do that! Davis: No, I’m gonna be fine! Here’s a ticket to the night market! Have fun! MD: …… ...More Darwin award nominations? MD: No. Awww….
Marge: Oh hi detective! Thank you for saving me and my daughter so many years ago! MD: …. Who are you again? *Goes to google* Oh, she’s that woman from Reverant’s Hunt…. MD: Ah, the gossip hen. My gods what’s with this town and its inhabitants… It’s like all the people connected to you which fate has yet to kill are all showing up again for a chance of going to the afterlife! 8Db MD: That would be the worst lottery ever. All in the life of being Master Detective’s friend! Forecast for percent of death: high! MD: *curls up in a corner to be depressed*
Nigel: What do you want? MD: Here are your seeds. Nigel: Okay I’m gone! MD: Right, now Aisling-- WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING. Crow: Caw-caw! MD: You, you’re not Crowlister, but if you are responsible, I will make you one very bald bird.
Okay, soooooo what do we do? MD: Removed what the device can. Guess we’re down to brewing this… tea... ...I think you need this tea more than her, honestly.
“I expect these MCF references now.” XD I think the 4th wall has just been shattered into oblivion.
Aisling: I see death all around you Master Detective! MD: Thank you for stating the obvious that has been made abundantly clear by the past hour and a half of plot. Davis: Hey waddap? MD: ….*breaks down sobbing* YOU’RE STILL ALIVE THANK GOODNESS! *hugs Davis* Davis: Um… what’s going… anyway, you should look at the video.
MD: Nigel! This video here suggests something. Want to talk before I make you? Nigel: This proves nothing! Now go away, I have preparations to-- Noooooooooo! *Nigel is swallowed by the earth* ……...MD? MD: NOT IT. WASN’T ME. DEFINITELY NOT ME! You saw that right, Davis? Davis: Oh no, he’s dead! Guess we’ll need to exhume him. MD: Now hold on, that reaction is just WAAAAAY TO BLAND.
(Watched a little bit ahead. I have some theories on who Aisling might be, since Gib’s thumbnail does appear to hint at it. We’ll see where it goes!)
(Aaaaand I was right!)
[Here ends entry one. Part two is going to be even more retroactive...]

1x08: Bugs
Then:
Tumblr media
Bbys who have no clue what they’re about to be forced to live through.
Now:
Oasis Plains, Oklahoma
At a new home development site, two Oklahoma Gas and Electric workers chat about the expensive neighborhood.
Tumblr media
One worker falls into a sinkhole and breaks his ankle. The other rushes for help. The hole where the man fell is covered in bugs. Willie Scott is quaking. The man lies still crying out for help. By the time his buddy gets back with a rope, it’s too late.
At a bar, Sam waits outside for his brother by the car and reads the paper. Dean’s busy hustling for money. Sam’s got a case! The cold open dude’s death is being reported as human Mad Cow. Dean heard about that on Oprah. Of course you did, my sweet, strong, amazing boy.  Sam is shocked and Dean changes the subject.
For the Many Layers of Dean Winchester Science:
Tumblr media
The brothers think there might be more to it than an accelerated case of Mad Cow and head to check it out. They arrive at the Gas company and find the buddy, Travis, right away. They’re posing as the nephews of the vic. They ask a bunch of questions. They’re really awkward and the buddy just goes along with it.
They then head to where the dude died.
Tumblr media
Dean asks if they want to flip a coin to see who’ll go down into the hole. Sam doesn’t think it’s a good idea, considering they don’t know what they’re dealing with. Dean’s dealing with trying to prove he’s macho so he says that Sam is scared and that he’ll head down the hole. That brought out Sam’s competitive edge enough and Sam decides to go (and let’s all face facts, Dean is a germaphobe and didn’t want to go down there anyway…)
Later in the car, they discuss the small amount of beetles Sam found. Time to do some research. Dean sees an open house and decides to join. Also, Dean’s weirded out at the thought of growing up in a nice neighborhood. Lol, sure buddy.
They meet the developer of the neighborhood, Larry, and his wife, Joanie. They also meet Lynda, head of sales.
Tumblr media
She’s ready to sell them a house! Dean’s tired of defending his heterosexuality and runs off to find Larry.
While talking with Larry, Dean notes jars of bugs. Larry’s son is “inquisitive”, and I don’t appreciate how condescending you sound Larry. Let your son be a bug freak.
Sam continues to get the hard sell from Lynda. As she blathers on, he notices a giant hairy spider getting closer to her. He dismisses her and scoops the hairy guy up and walks it over to Alfie Samandrial Matthew, the inquisitive son. Larry escorts his son away from the party. And Sam was just warming up to the kid, ready to spill all his ‘Dads are the worst’ advice. And whoa, Dean didn’t see how mean their dad was, but Sam said he didn’t treat Dean like that because he “was perfect” but he was all over Sam.
Tumblr media
God, these early episodes are gold mines. It’s a pity I so rarely watch them. Anyway, this is just another Dean is the perfect son because he followed orders, while Sam was not because he’s a little rebel.
Dean notes another person died on the site a while ago —killer bee stings. Maybe these bugs are being controlled by someone.
Tumblr media
Dean wonders if the boy, Matt, is the cause behind the bugs. They then pull over to an empty house in the neighborhood to hang out for the night. Dean wants to try the steam shower. Boy, you have always loved a good shower.
That night, Lynda is watching the news in her room when a spider scuttles across her face. UGH. She turns off the news and goes to enjoy a nice steam shower. MORE SPIDERS! She screams and apparently runs straight through the glass door. Shards of glass and blood mingle in the shower drain, while Lynda is dead a couple yards away, covered in tiny spiders.
The next morning, Sam alerts Dean to another death. Dean’s busy enjoying his shower.
Tumblr media
They roll up just as the body is getting rolled away. And I just love how they’re not even posing as FBI or anything and can just park their car and stroll up to the authorities like it isn’t anything. Larry gives them the news about Lynda.
They sneak into the house to investigate. Spiders! They head off to find Matt, only to watch him wander into the woods after school. They follow and find him collecting bugs. Dean passively accuses him of the bug related shenanigans, but Matt denies any wrong doing. He does feel like something is going on though. There’s something going on with the insects but Larry doesn’t want to listen to his son. And we get another veiled conversation about how the Winchester sons were raised wrong.
They finally reach the place in the woods that Matt wanted to show them. Bugs are congregating, but he doesn’t know why. Dean pokes a stick into a hole full of squishy squashy earthworms and finds a human skull inside.
Tumblr media
Dean and Sam head downtown with a whole box of skulls they found, like ya do. Dean gets to the heart of the case right away, and asks Sam why he told Matt to rejoice in anticipating the moment he could leave for college. “How 'bout tellin' him to respect his old man, how's that for advice?” Oh, Dean bby. Sam lays out his grievances: their dad never respected his achievements when they weren’t related to hunting. Dean tells him that their Dad always cared - he kept an eye on Sam even when he went to Stanford! (I’m sure John Winchester wasn’t at ALL concerned about keeping an eye on his demon-infected son, or anything.) (Boris: I read a really good theory once that it was Dean that was keeping on eye on Sam at Stanford.) Anyway, Dean could have told Sam how much their dad cared if ONLY Sam picked up the phone ever.
At the local university, Dean and Sam pose as anthropology students. The professor they talk to speculates that the skulls they found are almost 200 years old and probably belong to indigenous people who once lived in the area. The professor is NOT horrified that these two “students” went grave robbing and are now toting around skulls in an old file box. It’s fine!
Tumblr media
He refers them to the nearby Euchee tribe. MY GOD please tell me these boys aren’t going to visit tribe members with the skulls of their ancestors. I don’t remember this episode AT ALL but I’m starting to get a horrible feeling. Much has been written about the offensive “Native American curse” plot device in this episode (I realize after pausing and googling for a full hour). So I’m just gonna clutch my hair and tell this episode that it deserves its bad rep. It really, really does.
The Winchesters chat with Joe White Tree, who tells them a story about the pillaging of a Euchee village by American cavalry who tortured, then killed every single person living in it. The dying Chief issued a curse: “no white man would ever tarnish the land again.”
Tumblr media
It’s a six day curse and on the last day, everyone dies. They calculate that the sixth night is…that very night.
By phone, Sam and Dean try to warn Larry and son about the oncoming curse. Larry isn’t buying it, but Matt’s seeing a lot of unusual bug activity. Dean tells him to fake appendicitis so they can leave town and head to the hospital. Great idea! It can take hours before you’re seen in the ER!
When the Winchesters arrive, Larry, Matt, and Hot Mom Joanie are still home. They argue about leaving, but the shouting fades to horror when a giant swarm of bugs fill the sky. Everyone runs inside, blocking off gaps around doors and windows. The phones are dead because…the smarty bugs chewed through the phone lines. (oooookay) Bugs come in through the fireplace flue, chasing everyone upstairs.
Me, at this episode:
Tumblr media
In the attic, (Which is like the worst place to hide from bugs are you kidding me? Everybody knows roofs need to breathe) termites eat a hole through the roof. Dean fights off the bugs with his bottomless can of flammable insect repellant and they try to patch up holes. Soon enough, they’re surrounded by bugs. Welp, I sure didn’t expect the series to end like this!
Light shines outside suddenly (like a LIGHT SWITCH turning on) and the bugs flood out of the roof and fly off into the already very bright sunrise. How…majestic? And convenient? And FAST.
Tumblr media
A little while later, we meet up with Larry again. The real estate development is “on hold while the government investigates those bones you found.” There is SO MUCH to unpack here, but we skip right over ALL of that to arrive at the familial emotional resolution. Larry’s happy because he’s closer with his family now. Matt throws away his bug collection. “They kinda weird me out now.” Oh, Matt. You used to be so cool.
Tumblr media
Across the street, Sam and Dean stare at the reconnected son and his father in a not-at-all creepy or intrusive manner and experience emotions.
Tumblr media
Sam tells Dean that he wants to find their dad so he can apologize. Dean responds with “Well, don't worry, we'll find him. And then you'll apologize. And then within five minutes, you guys will be at each other's throats.” Very accurate!
UGH There are Quotes All Over Me!
Hustling pool? Credit card scams? It's not the most honest thing in the world, Dean
I'd take our family over normal any day
Who can say no to a steam shower?
“Question is, why bugs? And why now?” “That’s two questions”
You don't break a curse. You get out of its way

Unrelated but OMYGOD. My clown series reached 1k reads on wattpad.
Which isn't super awesome because its only due to the sheer quantity of chapters I have but I need to rave and spoil it cause I'm super excited about what I'm planning and no one i care to tell gives a shit so I'm dumping it into the void that is tumblr.
So. Im writing a book series called Caring For Your Clown. Its about this trans kid named Oliver and he is sort of an asshole.
Well not sort of, he is an asshole. But a RELATABLE asshole.
The story sort of drops you in 6 months after the mysterious and tragic (and traumatic) death of his mother Marie, who was a scientist alongside her husband and Oliver's step father Jon at a lab that specializes in physics mainly.
They were working on a machine with an unstable particle that caused a..tear so to speak, in the fabric of dimensional space and she got torn into tiny little bits. :3
But apparently before this occurred, Marie was in contact with an alien race called clowns 🤡 (really they are interdimensional traveling amoebas that take the shape of humanoid clowns lol)
One of which pops up in Oliver's life completely unexpectedly for no foreseeable reason and her name is Dindet and she is absolutely precious.
Basically its a saga and each book ranges in about 30k to 50k words. The first book centers around Oliver learning about this weird alien houseguest and also the immediate fallout of the death of his mom because surprise surprise! His biological dad who is a terrible abusive fucktard rolls back into his life with the intent to take custody of Oliver and that is no good!
The entire arch Oliver's goes through is literally the title of the series. Basically learning to be caring and compassionate while ALSO dealing with grief and interdimensional shenanigans.
One of the things I found really fun (it was unintentionally done but now I like it so its intentional now.) Is that each book roughly represents the 5 stages of grief.
As the first one is anger. Oliver is mostly passed the fuck off that this dumb alien clown sauntered into his life and thought it would be neat to CARE about him like he was a PERSON with FEELINGS. Irrationally angry, because he blames her for the loss of his mom (i mean so does his dad who goes through the stages of grief slightly slower than Oliver does) and uses her as a personal emotional punching bag until he realizes that SHE got his bio dad to concede his appeal for custody via literally stalking him and making him so paranoid that he was deemed an unfit parent >:3
All the while too, as the main focus is on the two characters of Oliver and Dindet, there is a background plot leading up to the second, third, and fourth (possibly up to 6 books) of the clown authorities looking for Dindet. And also the checkovs gun that is his neighbor.
The second book is mostly erring in the bargaining side of the coin for Oliver while Jon goes through his stage of anger. Oliver learns more about Dindet but doesn't quite trust her as she is clearly hiding information and KNOWS his mom. But she won't talk. Meanwhile, his neighbor working on a completely different project gets his hands on some clown matter and goes apeshit with it to build his energy machine.
We also learned more about the type of person Dindet is, which is naive and caring but also incredibly self destructive and reckless. By far a major people pleaser with huge self love issues. While Oliver is more of a "i don't give a shit what you think" though its more a facade he puts on to protect himself from rejection :/ he is far more comfortable in his own skin but external factors can make him freak out a little and he is terrible at talking to people.
It culminates when the project Jon solicited Dindet's assistance in is wreck by her own hands and Oliver's growth completely backtracks to the point that he finally manages to get our clown to leave (only for her to be clownknapped by his whole ass fucking neighbor to be used as the conduit to his energy machine)
And yeh, Ols almost immediately regrets his actions (though at first its more denial that she actually left) especially when he catches his neighbor using her as fuel for his machine to the point that all her fucking matter is completely burned away via electrical current! >:3
THEN Oliver gets to the depression arch >:3 (i haven't written this part yet so its up in the air atm)
Basically, with his mom dead and now the only person who could reasonably be considered his friend ALSO Basically dead, Ols falls into this really bad streak of just walking backward in his grief. Anger, denial, bargaining, the whole shebang. But THIS time the lab and the government AND the secret clown police are all in cahoots to cover up what happened at the lab and to do that they need to get rid of Ols and his dad to allow their plot to work. (Will be revealed later)
So throughout the first two books I've been alluding to the leader of the clowns via Dindet's ostensible paranoia and their name is Smile. They have underlings though and one is named Poppy. So the clowns get into the lab and convince Jon to send his son to a treatment facility for therapy under the thin veil that it will protect them from the repercussions of the machine. Oliver is not to upset about this though because he has been to therapy before from his past with his bio dad.
Except obviously the clowns don't want to actually help anyone. Their goal is to wear my boy down until he ready to die because- did I mention this was middle grade??
Anyways. This particular book I want to develop my potential romance between Douglass (Oliver's kid neighbor) and Ols and also deconstruct Oliver's personality via flashbacks that parallel the events in the story so we understand why he reacts the way he does to things and also i think it would be neat that the clowns technically succeed in their plan to draw out Dindet the wanted criminal by using the person she cares most about against her. By making him want to die!!
Then! For the next book, I'm planning on having more clown infiltration, more bonding between my children and romance between my boys because oooohhh boy am I gonna have fun tearing everyone apart when the real fucking deal Smile shows up and fucks shit up. Smile is my main villian and a veru fun and manipulative one at that. She uses Oliver to get to Dindet and eventually catches the both of them, revealing clowns to the entire world right before snatching them back to the home base the Cornucopia.
This is where we learn all the information we have been wanting and building up to about Dindet >:3
She is a criminal because she has Essentially tied a doomed universe to the Cornucopia in a never ending time loop because she is so heckin big that every time that universe is torn apart, she jumps back in time and DIES in order to recreate it. (She's the big bang yo)
That isn't the only reason though. Oliver comes to learn that his mom was FRIENDS with Smile. And Smile was the one who tore her apart in the machine scattering her subconscious in the literally timeless Cornucopia (time doesn't exist there so aging, death, anything like that is completely halted) and MARIE who has been half alive and omnipotent this whole fucking time has been trapped in the Cornucopia unable to see her family or child but fully able to see a know the infinitesimal inevitability of the destruction of his universe. So what does she do? She PULLS DINDET PUT OF THE ABYSS AND TELLS HER TO GO BE FRIENDS WITH HER KID TO KEEP THE TIME LOOP GOING.
And this has happened before. Like this book series is literally ONE (1) version of events that have been stacking up on top of eachother for millenia. The reason Dindet shows up in the first place is because she can partially see these past loops and the remnants of her love for Oliver keeps her coming back YO.
But while all this lovely information is being shared, Dindet is in clown jail and Oliver is treated as a pet to Smile. He tries to stage a break out and fails and what does Smile do? She turns him into a got damn monkey!
And uses him as literal fucking bait to a starving Dindet in order to justify her sentence (which is obviously death)
It almost works too, if it weren't for the fact that these two kids are BEST FRIENDS NOW and would legit die AND kill for eachother, Dindet pushes Oliver out of the Cornucopia (he is still a monkey boy btw) into his universe which inadvertently scatters him.
(A human person can enter the Cornucopia but if they leave, their molecular structure will destabilize in a slow and painful way until they literally are nothing left so that sucks)
This is where I want the next book to start tbh. Now back at home without his friend, as. A. Monkey. Oliver find that his entire home town is under lock down and strict control by the clowns who have now infiltrated the government and are putting plans forth to rebuild the SAME MACHINE his dad and Dindet built to bring about the destruction of the universe. (They want to do this because if they prevent Dindet from jumping back in time, they can end the time loop and get on with their lives)
So ols has to essemble a rag tag crew of Douglass and some other classmates and figure out that all the goop floating around belongs to Dindet (bruh. She is the size of the universe like. There is a lot of her to go around) and they can technically use it as gateways into other dimensions to gather an arsenal of GIANT BABY ANIMALS AND SQUIRREL BIRD CATS AND DRAWN TO LIFE ANYTHINGS so they can try to 1. Bring back our clown gal who is the key to fixing this and 2. Take on the now heavily fortified lab in order to get Olivers and Douglass's dads back.
All the while my boy is slowly dying >:3
Eventually, Oliver finds a way to get Dindet back but its at a cost :/ he tricks Smile into turning our clown organic to prevent her from being able to control any of her matter whatsoever and the cost of it is that Smile is VERY bad at making humans, so she basically traps Dindet in a catatonic meat sack that doesn't have half the organs it needs to function properly :/
To make her not be organic anymore they gotta uh..kill the tumor that is an organic half body (which yes, does have nerve endings) which eventually allows Dindet to be 100% clown again.
They break into the lab, but its basically too late. Reality is fractured and the multiverse is imploding in on itself and in the midst of all of this, Ols and Dindet are careening through the vacuum of an entirely empty space, dying of starvation and scattering and the only option left is to jump back in time to start the loop over again.
It is heartfelt and it is good and pure and the last moments they share together perfectly bring this loop together because in the VERY FIRST BOOK Oliver asks why Dindet came and she says "you asked me to."
And their last moments together he asks her to come back for him. Like I CANNOT yall!!
But that isn't the end. Yet.
The real end is after they die and the universe begins and a single hand pushes through the stars and pulls out a little orange bean. And it's Marie, pulling Dindet put of the Abyss this universe that is so intrinsically tied to the Cornucopia that it literally creates all the fucking clowns.
Its not supposed to be destroyed. And the reason eveeything falls into place so perfectly and things always go the same way is because ita already been seen and already been narrated. By Marie.
The WHOLE ASS SERIES IS IN THIRD PERSON OMNISCIENT BUT ITS ACTUALLY NOT. Its first person. Narrated by Marie.
Dindet knows Marie because she pulled her out of the Cornucopia. Clowns exist because Dindet was told by Oliver that she was and looked like a clown. The entire ass UNIVERSE exists because Oliver and Dindet are the fucking building blocks of life.
All of Olivers character actions and growth and eventual love (platonic) for Dindet shape their futures and all of it started because a mom was so concerned and guilty about leaving her kid in such a time of need that she would rather start the world over than see him suffer.
So..themes.
Throughout the series there are heavy HEAVY parallels between Dindet and Marie (partly because Dindet is a parrot and almost all her actions and reactions mimmick things that she has seen and the first person she met who wasn't out to kill her was Marie) but also because Dindet is the conduit through which Marie vicariously lives out the rest of Oliver's fleeting life with him.
There is even a point where Oliver genuinely questions whether or not Dindet actually IS his mom (she isn't obviously)
One of the themes I really love about this series is that compassion, unconditional love and care is deserving to even the most obstinant. Oliver isn't easy to love. He actively makes it very hard for anyone who could be a peer (even his own dad sometimes) to care about him. He constantly pushes people away to safeguard himself from potential harm and it takes three fucking books ROUGHLY 200,000 words to get this boy to understand what unconditional love can do.
How it can help with the grieving process, and help you become a more compassionate person toward others.
And also how your actions affect others!!
Like i said, Dindet is a parrot, she can read your mind (if she wanted to) but what she sees she incorporates into her own thoughts and as a reflection, Olivers harsh words and actions, even the most simple kind are recorded and even amplified. He is MEAN to Dindet. He makes fun of her often and gets angry with her and calls her stupid and she internalizes that immediately and it has an immediate affect on how she views herself. Oliver doesn't even think of this as something that happens until much later in the story! And gradually he grows past it and becomes more considerate and affirming toward Dindet and Douglass as a result.
And the way things matter. Oh. Every little detail matters in this story up to seemingly inconsequential continuity errors! Foreshadowing is everywhere from the first fucking sentence to the last because the things the characters do and say to eachother are simultaneously current and in the past all at once and no one knows which is which.
Someone got hurt? There are consequences, even unforseen ones. Dindet loses her hat. It is the most precious thing she owns and is a huge comfort item for her. Oliver asked where she got it? A friend gave it to her.
OLIVER MAKES HER A NEW HAT AFTER SHE LOSES IT. He is the FRIEND that gave it to her.
Almost everything in this story has parallels and consequences and twists and turns and outcomes that are wildly unpredictable (up until now because I've just spoiled the entire fucking plot but who cares!!)
Like...this is my baby. I care SO MUCH about this story and the characters in it that when I think about certain scenes I legitimately start crying.
I can't wait to publish the first book yall. I'm planning on publishing it either through a publisher or self publish, and maybe make a comic even? Idk. I just i really think people would like my dumb absurd story about clowns and I wish i could just spout about it 24/7...it breaks my heart that no one will listen.

I’m putting my summer reading list together and was wondering if you had any good book recommendations. Any genre will do.
I should be better at this than I am, but I generally have a hard time keeping track of my favorites in my head and people able to recall them for when people ask me. Maybe I should keep a list of books to rec. Hey that’s kind of a good thing to put on my website. Why didn’t I ever think of that before? Then I wouldn’t have to remember it all the time and I’d also have a list of influences. I should seriously consider that. hmm
The only thing I can think of now is a book series that I recently picked up again after recommending it to a friend because I thought there was a romance in it that reminded me of Bellarke. So why don’t I do that one.
It’s called the Liveship Traders by Robin Hobb, and the first book is called Ship of Magic.
In my memory, I made the bellarke-like characters into the main characters, but when I went back over it, I realized that their story was one of multiple interwoven stories.  I was in a bellarke mood, so I actually ended up doing a shipping kind of edit while I read and skipped through to all the chapters about the bellarke-like characters, so I ended up reading THEIR story. It got tricky at the end of the series when all the stories came together and I hadn’t caught up on the other characters… but I managed. Quite well. I’d never read these books this way, and because I was in a bellarke mood, I suddenly wondered if the reason why I resonated with Bellarke so strongly was actually because they reminded me of THIS couple.
Anyway, so now that I’ve recd a book based on shipping bellarke. The series is actually a fantasy. This series is about a family of shiptraders who own a living, magic ship. The daughter, Althea, wants to inherit the ship, but when her father dies, it goes to her brother in law instead, a man who is not one of them and doesn’t understand the strange burden of these ships. To save the family from bankruptcy, he turns to slave trading– a very bad mistake for a very sensitive ship. It tells the story not only of Althea, but also of her mother and sister and niece back in the trading town, and her nephew and ship. And pirates! LOTS OF PIRATES. And sea serpents. And a female character dressed as a man. And exotic riches. And a mysterious veiled people. And political plots. And people falling in love. And silly selfish girls growing up to be unstoppable. And the mystery of the dragons, who have gone from the world. Or have they?
This is set in the world of the Farseer books, Fitz and the Fool, (kings and queens, bastard princes, animal magic, high magic, magic zombies, betrayal, more dragons, a strange character who sometimes makes prophecies.) The first book of that is Assassin’s Apprentice.
All these books are interconnected and, in the end, about the fate of the dragons, and the prophecies that are trying to set the world back on the right track. There is a little bit of crossover between the trader books and the fitz books, but it’s subtle, and i don’t want to give it away. I can easily recommend starting with the Assassin books, as it’s one of my favorite series, and Fitz is a great character. So if you’d rather read about northern barbarian royalty in a political battle and the bastard prince who has both the noble high magic and base beast magic in his blood, and also ends up saving everybody, I mean EVERYBODY, at the cost to his own soul and body, then read this one first. If you’d rather read about pirates and a magic ship, then read the liveship. If you want, like, to lose yourself in another world all summer, start with the Assassin books, then read the Liveship books, then go back to the Fitz and Fool books, because those follow a couple of the characters from the Assassin books as they get older and the plots thicken. Also. More dragons. You can actually watch Fitz get older. The first book is him as a boy. He saves the world, yadda yadda, grows up, and in each following series he grows up more and saves the world again. Real, actual maturing.
Now these books CAN be very dark. But if you like The 100, with it’s strong characters fighting for their lives and souls, and suffering for it, and victories at a cost, then you might like this book. It’s not fluffy. At all. There is torture. Lots of it. Abusive childhoods. Adopted families. Tragedy aplenty. Broken hearts. Death. But it’s also engaging and addictive and sweeping and dramatic and epic. I would put Robin Hobb on a par with GRR Martin, but a woman. Do expect that kind of pain though, but the stories are more feminist. And it’s actually more original and less traditional.
Now I don’t look for this when I read, and this isn’t a “PC” book, meaning expect characters to be problematic and stupid sometimes, but it addresses some social and identity issues. For instance, the country of Farseers, inland, is mostly white. But the coast and the Farseers themselves are definitely not. They were barbarian raiders, and darker skinned with black hair, so the kings and princes, while it doesn’t SAY their ethnicity, seem to be a kind of northern native american/asian-viking kind of hybrid. Maybe like if Mongolians were seafaring like the vikings. The barbarian raiders conquered the land and settled down to rule it. But the barbarian raiders are still out there raiding. And the soft, white inland farmers still want to be in control. But the publishing industry the way it is, I feel like they play that down. The Farseers are not white, but they do intermarry with the white inland duchies. And to the south is a country of slavers, (not racially motivated) who no one likes. And when they do like them? Expect them to be evil. lol. There are also multiple disabled characters. Heroic ones. Gosh I can’t actually spoil on that one, either, but it’s kind of a plot point in many of the series. Geez Robin. I did not even REALIZE how much this matters to you. (ALTHOUGH, she did write a story about an obese character. And I don’t mean chubby. I mean OBESE, it’s part of his magic. It isn’t my favorite of hers, Soldier’s Son Trilogy. Not set in the world of Fitz. It figures that none of the book covers show him as fat.) She writes about those people that society discards. Always.
And. Well. I don’t really want to give it away, because it’s kind of a big part of the story, but I’d call the Farseer books lgbt. Not because there is a typical wlw or mlm love story… uhm… but… Ugh. I can’t give it away. Let’s just say there’s a non binary major character. Who you will love. Who I love. I’ve never seen anything like them. Main character. V. Important. You have to really read the whole story to unravel it all, though. Like ALL the books. It’s epic. Cannot express enough my love for this character. Cannot tell you more specifically because their life and story is intrinsically plot related. But trust me it’s amazing, particularly if you’d like to read an LGBT story about the letters other than L or G. Yes. I think that’s the best way to describe it. I wouldn’t want you to think that it’s a typical L/G story because you might be disappointed not to see that. There are an awful lot of hetero romances. But…. There is an epic story running through all the books and it ain’t cishet. But it takes so long to develop, you have to invest in it. Dudes. It’s worth it.
Wow. That’s a lot of gushing. I guess that’s my rec.

What we REALLY learned from BotE lore
I know I’m about a month too late for this but…. (Dadmin feel free to put a keep reading here if you think it’s too long)
Jailbreak- -Tundra??? Skydancer??? Eating fish??????? There’s like 6 different plant food granola ration items that would keep just fine??? -Either the breed diets are more of a preference or the writers just forgot their own lore, I’m inclined towards the second but the first is a plausible in-universe plot bandaid
-Dragons have surnames and with little exception they’re all warrior cats adjectivenoun shit. Because of course they are.
-Feathers can be unusually thick, apparently -Isolated beastclans unaware of/apathetic to the uprising are a thing -Most of the icefield is too dangerous to fly in -The fortress of ends is far from the only prison location -New location: Dripcave dregs -Icefield’s government so far seems to consist entirely of the (very harsh) prison system, so i guess the southern icefield is ice age america -[Racial tensions intensify] -Dragon money is accepted by at least some beastclans -Racial tensions not helped by language barrier -Rations stashed at key points along the mountains -Tundras become amnesic when stressed -Who/What the wardens are does not seem to be common knowledge -Oh hey look a new canon breed for one of the flights that only has one breed which isn’t very popular, which has unique lore, and a design that perfectly matches with many people’s wishes for “Something like a tundra but fiercer”, that i guarantee will be eternally left right next to couriers as “Perfectly good breeds that will never be implemented and the admins will never even tell us why” -They don’t seem to know much about other breeds -Like genders, for example -They also might be psychic -May or may not be ageless on top of that -Tundras are descended from them, which means at some point in the distant past some left for the surface and stayed there, which means these things are perfectly capable of joining surface society again -It seems a lot of the deities have disappointing giant first children that they want to hide/kill to bury their shame Ten Eyes- -New location: The Oculus of the Eleven -Like if the UN was also a wizard council -So far implied there haven’t been any major interflight wars for at least a few generations -Leylines are Serious Business™ -SMARK -SMARK -Mirror pack instincts are very strong -Dragons supposedly don’t have computers, but the leyline monitor things sound an awful lot like computers -Crystalspine mountains grow in response to ambient magic -Oculus seems to have been anticipating eventual sabotage of some variety for a long time -Age discrimination -Not only are dragon/beastclan racial tensions insanely high, but racial tensions between flights and breeds seem to be immense as well -Mirrors revert to base aggressive animal instincts when stressed -Even if they act like they’re friends they all actually hate eachother and will totally throw eachother under the buss at the first sign of trouble -Dragons know about the two arcane apocalypses(the first of which wasn’t technically the arcanist’s fault because he wasn’t fucking born yet but that’s a rant for a different time) -Mirrors can be blinded by enough heat -Uuuh -Uuummm -What, you wanted useful bits on what it’s actually like in arcane in general? Fuck you, have this rushed and thinly-veiled segway into lightning’s bit that takes place entirely inside an isolated dragon UN base with no elaboration on the outside world Temper, Temper- -Fire has kind of an Industrial revolution/great depression theme going on -Funding cutbacks -Railways confirmed -Imported materials confirmed -Racism again -Economic class divide -Angry coatls puff their feathers -Fire treats their working class like shit, and apparently has been for a very long time -Vocal Accents confirmed -I have no idea why Haemil isn’t overwhelmed by heat signatures all the time if just a few angry people was enough to blind Beatrix -Worker’s guilds are a thing. We have no idea how they work, but they’re a thing, and they have some amount of power. -Only the blacksmiths can withstand the great furnace -Volcano heartshaft -Dragons have explored at least as far down as the upper mantle -“Forgemasters” who seem to be greedy slavedriver corporate aristocrat types -Forgemaster council of some sort exists, and apparently is the closest there is to a central government -There’s a main cavern where the great furnace’s blacksmiths work and it has a big-ass gate on it -Fire tundras crop their fur and still get burned anyway -Ashfall wastes are the main exporters of tools and weapons -So, who wants to break the news to Por and Ventik that they literally cannot physically speak to eachother? -I suppose you could make the excuse that one of the others is translating, but i think they just forgot their own lore again. -Ashfall provides the tempest spire with bolts, rivets, and sheet metal -Arftificial scarcity to drive up demand is a thing in sornieth’s economy -Also, international economy is a thing -Apprenticeship is a thing -Giant bellows in the great furnace, operated by big tattooed imps who may or may not be exaltees -Non-arcane archmages -Other flights are required to construct sanctums whenever concentrations of magic are found -The Oculus doesn’t have anywhere near as much power across sornieth as it thinks it does-their efforts are easily foiled pretty much whenever the local government feels like it -They don’t seem to be very well-respected or even liked anywhere either -Magically-charged magma (and presumably other things) exist, and have useful scientific properties -Government’s first reaction to discovery of new resources/tech is to use it as an excuse to lay off most of their already-struggling workforce -Government cover-ups are also totally a thing -Apparently, tundras rarely frown -Parties of blacksmiths are sent to chart any caves discovered -Steel crates -New location: Flintlock Fumaroles -Professions are often handed down through families for generations -Individual clans are capable enough of reliable communication for a worker’s strike of this magnitude to be assembled in only days. -Flamecaller isn’t really present, and has fallen almost entirely into legend -You don’t have to be a skydancer to sense high levels of magic -There’s another volcano now, apparently even bigger and badder than the great furnace -Everyone’s been fired(lol), There’s a worker’s revolution going on, and there’s a whole new fucking island, all of which i’m sure will never be spoken of again. -If you claim it they will come A New Direction- -Ashfall wastes and Scarred wasteland are visible from the plateau -Dis place high yall -Dragons have trouble flying in stagnant air -Dragons sometimes rob couriers -Couriers run in an awkward waddle -The twisting crescendo is sentient, capable of appearing as a dragon, and, apparently, female -The windsinger can send magic statues in the mail or something idk i’m not sure anyone entirely knows what’s going on there -Windmills confirmed -That’s it -This one’s kinda simple -What, you wanted more useful detail on what life in the plateau is like? Fuck you, have this folk tale-sounding glorified space whale aesop Kindred Crossing- -At some point in the past, light and shadow made a failed attempt at an alliance that involved building portals that seem to only be able to activate during a lunar eclipse with the correct keystone like some lonely mountain shit(At least if admin comments on the forums are to be trusted) -Apparently the technology to make said portals was lost and the incident was forgotten about -Somehow this created the hewn city by bleeding the two together. Why shadow doesn’t have an unusually light-y area near the portal, i don’t know. -New location: thorndark altar, for all your cliche cultist needs -Lots of shadow pool and moon-related religious stuff -Creepy cult clans confirmed -Shadow goo smells like shit -Shadow goo puts out feeding tendrils -Awful mothers confirmed -Action figures confirmed -Whiny edgy teenagers confirmed -Some sect of shadow religion that multiple clans apparently follow involves elders in robes passing around candles with purple flames, creepy cultist chanting, and throwing prized possessions into the goo -Presumably this “sacrificing prized possessions” thing is not an isolated practice -“Voidling” seems to be an insult or derogatory title of some sort, in other news awful mother is awful. Something tells me her son being such a screwed-up asshole isn’t entirely his own fault. -“It’s not like he’ll remember it anyway”- That’s racist -The descriptive phrase “Dark hovels” is telling. Make of it what you will. -Lots of crazy ancient shit like this is absolutely hidden under pools and growth throughout the tangled wood -There are specialists trying to map the hewn city -I can’t help but feel like the specific wording of the description “A primitive hook-shaped runestone” says a little bit and the light flight’s attitude -Shadow flight has assassins specifically for the purpose of ruining light scholar’s work Ancient Fascinations- -Preservation guild is a thing, and presumably other guilds of similar function are too -Archeology confirmed -Most places still rely on torches and candles for light -Secretaries are a thing, which also means all the things that necessitate secretaries exist -Some weird monsters or some shit like that have popped into existence under dragonhome, and apparently are turning people into fossils or something -The things in question looks sort of like beastclans. Maybe undead second age creatures? -Government coverups: Archeology guild edition -Organizations take funding from wealthy sponsors -Imperials can be just as self-important as pearlcatchers -A very ominous, mysterious, wealthy, anonymous organization that if fiction has taught me anything can’t be up to any good -Even in fantasy dragon land you can acquire just about any historical artifact for your private collection by throwing enough money at it -What, you wanted more on what dragonhome is like for the average dragon? Fuck you, here’s a boring ametuer SCP story taking place entirely in an isolated archeology site. Workplace Hazards- -Lightning farm has monitoring equipment -Uhhh -Ummmmmm -Flying in storm bad -Shock switch is a real thing…? Maybe…? -Computers don’t exist yet, everyone still uses papers -… Even though that lightning farm monitoring equipment from just a few lines ago sounded an awful lot like a computer -Errrrrrr -Electrical engineer guild…..? -The shifting expanse does in fact have money -Cactus tea? Cactus fucking tea? -Aaaaaahhhh…? -Whelp lightning has effectively just withdrawn from the dragon un, secretly declared war on them, and pissed on their embassy just for good measure. you know, just in case the whole “Antithesis of all magic and nature, making them effectively the closest there is to a shade faction” thing wasn’t enough. -Unless the lore in the next one does a complete 180 and it turns out this is fine somehow or it’s because of a secret conspiracy unrelated to the flight or something, lightning is now likely THE designated antagonist faction and enemies with the entire world -Oh nooo sciency scientists with no morals are gonna destroy the world again with their scientific hubris!1!1! No bad things would ever happen if those darned scientists would just stop messing with nature and poking around where they don’t belong!1!! -Yeah, salary cycle.. That’s certainly……. A word……. That probably means something…… Which is never explained…. -Scientific scientists destroy non-sciency things because of science reasons, Next up our special guest Vulcan with “Emotion is illogical and must be destroyed” -Have fun being the designated wholly evil faction, nerds. Technology eats your soul. -What, you wanted lore that provided any insight whatsoever into what the expanse is like on any level, or at least something that didn’t spend every line it could going out of it’s way to emphasize how one-dimensionally amoral everyone and everything here is? -That’s stupid -You’re stupid -Fuck you and that train you rode in on -Here, have a bland thinly-veiled tacked on continuation of arcane’s story that pointedly goes out of it’s way to avoid introducing any significant new elements whatsoever because that could potentially humanize lightning on some level and interfere with our pushing the totally irredeemable mad scientists that need to be wiped out for the good of the world narrative, set almost exclusively in an equally bland extension of the dragon UN building that gets knocked over to make an evil hubris reactor because scientific scientists sciencing sciencly oppose all non-science. -Watch as all lore from now on is about how everything is lightning’s fault and they’re the enemies of all life or something -durr hurr science is scary thomas edison is a witch The Seed and the Sickness- -Plague and nature getting lumped together for no goddamned reason, as usual -If the excuse is because they’re twins then light and shadow should get lumped together too, light’s story is certainly short enough and they’re already semi-connected -Plague and nature have had an armistice for thousands of years -Why yes, let’s trade nukes every decade. How could this possibly go wrong. -Plague dragons have lots of scars and war paint and wear bones confirmed -Earth flight mediates because of course it does -Dragons know about the first battles of the plaguebringer and gladekeeper -Scarred wasteland is humid -Nature dragons tell horror stories about it -Quarantine zones for testing diseases -Plague actually specifically develops and tests diseases -Nature dragons can’t live in the scarred wasteland without special measures -Bonerguards -The behemoth is sick, possibly, maybe, it’s not entirely clear, probably just hallucinations -Secret ninjas poisoning ambassadors -“Be strong, survive” -Bone spears. *immature giggle* -Nature magic can do some pretty gory, fucked up stuff. Impaled corpses hanging from trees, anyone? -It’s nice to know the admins are allowed to write about shit like that but even having an argument written in a playermade bio puts it in the danger zone -Weaponized carnivorous plants -Plague breath is toxic gas and yellow goo -Other plague magic includes giant rotting membrane cocoons -Nature and plague are probably gonna go to war again, and might drag earth into it too -Now there’s a sick lady with a plant-nuke fused to her out there somewhere -In plague, if you’re hurt, too bad. Medical treatment is for the weak. Either you survive your open wounds or you don’t. Plague dragons covered in bloody bandages are not lore-freindly, because bandages mean they weren’t strong enough to tough it out themselves. -Also implied that plague looks down upon the dead in some way
-Plague also DEFINITELY hates doctors and medicine -Ohh nooo EEEVIL plague conspiracy involving the plague ambassador -You thought there would be equal sections for both ambassadors? The plague ambassador’s section is all of 3 sentences long and only exists to tell us how evil she is. -What, you wanted lore that expanded on what it’s like in nature in any significant way? Fuck you, have a bland sabotage plot that takes place entirely in the scarred wasteland with no mention of anything at all in the viridian labyrinth. -What, you wanted lore that expands on what it’s like in plague in any significant way? Fuck you, have a bland sabotage plot that takes place entirely in an isolated nature embassy with no mention of how anything outside it works. Hear Today, Gone Tomorrow- -Pearlcatchers have slings and bags to carry their pearls -New location: shoredeep presage -Divination caves that direct the tidelord’s prophecy bubbles up from the deep for rite-of-passage rituals -Prophets have multiple levels of rank based on age -Water dragons carve handholds to use in areas with strong tides -Divination requires specific rituals seemingly similar to alchemy, along with a blindfold and special chant -Braziers made of dried coral and shells -Dragons swim with their wings -Not all water dragons have divination powers, and the ones that don’t seem to be considered lesser -The first prophecy is meant to be carried to your grave -Dragons breathe water. With their lungs. -Fishing shacks exist -The weather in wind has a direct effect on the weather in other flights, in this case leveling the whole damn water flight because the crescendo decided it wanted to spin the other way -The crescendo also does not have a monopoly on the “gigantic magically-charged supercell” game, it’s just the most consistent one -Giant whirlpool. Maybe the spiral keep collapsed? -Prophecies tell you whatever the fuck they feel like telling you, not what you want them to -All the currents in the ocean have also changed thanks to the reversed wind -Fish daddy’s not talking anymore Raising a Family- -Did you really just use a Necromancer pun? Is the next line going to be about doing it on a budget? -Very short -So short it may as well be fused with shadow’s like they did with plague and nature -Emperors generally have extremely simple, childlike minds, with varying levels of decay, and are often deliriously happy -Always hungry -Think of eachother as siblings, it’s unclear if they really are or not. Technically siblings of multiple elements are possible if their parents traveled a lot. -Have fragmented and hazy memories of their past lives -Something about “Mother and other siblings”, possibly lightweaver -Hewn city has a border patrol -Emperors with less then 4 heads DO have enough juice to go apocalypse mode, despite what the encyclopedia says -The only one i genuinely enjoyed and felt was well-written -Except now there’s a fucking hydra-zombie rampaging through light flight. i’m sure that won’t be a problematic place to leave a cliffhanger dangling for months at all. Voices- -Leafmom’s worried, Germmom’s pissed -Droolmom thinks this is the funniest shit she’s seen in 10,000 years -Something’s wrong with sornieth’s molten core, i think -Icepop bragging about his limited edition Cthulhu collection -GLITTERMOM NO YOU RACIST FAVORITE-CHILD-PICKING BITCH I SWEAR IF YOU DO ANYTHING TO THOSE MURDERNOODLES -Noddledad don’t give a fuck -Daddy Cave Johnson definitely sanctioned this evil scientific hubris reactor. Goddammit Cave. -*Space dad creepily floating outside everyone Else’s window with binoculars* -Earthdad got a playmate, but they don’t seem friendly -*Goes around putting up missing posters for tidepapa*
