a question do you have designs for the cathonic gods(underworld gods) you know Hades,Persephone, their kids, Thanatos, Hypno, and Hecate?

I just think of Hades and persephone being good parents and all the underworld gods + Hermes being aunts and uncles to them. 😊

So, this is all I've got for now!

Hades! Ahhh… I don't know if I managed to convey exactly what I wanted to do with him. He's such an iconic character, so it's pretty hard to avoid the goth man stereotype. These drawings of him aren't really finalized yet, but they're a step in the direction of what I want.

So, in a sense, when Persephone is in the living world, he becomes this typical dark man, clothed in shadows. And when his wife comes over, she dresses him up! His hair gets decorated with flowers and plants. This "form" of him is when he goes full-out drag! That's it!

But I also think the trickiest thing when designing him was due to his brothers. I don't want them to look alike. And, well… My take on Poseidon is a big hazard. People already think that he looks like a god of death, which was my intention. I wanted him to represent death to Odysseus in Epic the Musical. I even thought of making his clothes black, but I realized that people would definitely think he was Hades instead. So Hades's color scheme had in mind with Poseidon's. Poseidon has black hair, Hades has white. Poseidon has light skin, Hades has a tan. To be honest, I even don't really like that I gave him a purple white dress....

Hmmmm… now that I'm looking at these sketches… I should have added body hair…

Ok I’m in my “hades hades hades rant hades” phaze today so here’s it

People forget hades is the one who CONTROLS death. He’s not the god of death, no that Thanatos, but he is of the god of dead

He might not be the one to personally take up your soul, but he’s the one who controls and holds it, there’s a reason why Thanatos works for hades, and isn’t the one controlling the dead

He’s the one who chooses your fate after death

He’s the one who is the ruler of death and everything else that comes withe it

Nyx the one Zeus fears? He shared a domain withe them, and Nyx ALLOWED him to be the ruler

Erebus, who used to be the supreme deity after upsurping chaos? HE ALLOWS HADES TO BE THE RULER OF THE DOMAIN

You have to think about it for a second

Hades was the first god ever

Zeus and all them thought that they gave hades a ruler of a seemingly worse domain then theirs

Because Zeus couldn’t control the underworld

The underworld before hades came along to rule over it was the closest thing to the beginning of the universe. A blank emptiness of seemingly nothing but in reality housed chaos and Nyx and Erebus and all the original deities that are literally a domain, they are not gods of a thing, THEY ARE THE THING

and Zeus saw that and was like Ope can’t control that

So he gave the rule to hades, thinking oh he can’t control this this is just a place to put him since I have to go withe my agreement of giving them part of the world BUT dont want to

So he gave hades the underworld thinking it would crush him

BUT IT DIDNT

HADES SEEMIINGLY WEAKEST OD THE THREE RULED THE UNRULABLE DOMAIN OF DEATH

And what’s even more is that he’s not as powerful as Nyx or Erebus, BUT THEY LET HIM RULE THEIR DOMAIN

And he doesn’t control it, no no you can’t control it that’s the wrong thing Zeus was trying to do

No no hades gave order to it, he compromised withe it, and since the underworld is literally a diety of its own, he doesn’t control it he brings order to literally chaos

He gives the underworld a purpose, a house for the dead

He allows equal power and doesn’t try to be a tyrant to the deities that were already there

He works among side them

And you have to remeber

Kronos was also the seemingly weakest of his siblings, and he was then made king of the cosmos supreme ruler of all

Hades literally has the world in his hands, he may not control a seemingly better deal domain, but everything comes to his control sooner or later.

Hades, god of the Underworld, the dead(not Death), fertility, wealth as the tarot archetype, The Devil.

I was originally considering him for the archetype of Death, but Thanatos already exists for that one. So, The Devil was my next thought. He isn’t really a bad guy and gets a bad reputation already in some circles, but he really is a misunderstood god and the archetype really just serves as a warning.

Lore Post: The God of the Underworld and Death

Since today is a Bittersweet and a Passion post day, you guys get a Lore post. This time, it's about one of the Divine Beings. We'll be back with more excerpts tomorrow. I hope you enjoy the new chapters!

Aodh is a seldom worshiped being in the Zone. Because demise and Ending is so rare among sapient and complex ghosts prone to acts of worship, his cult is small.

His servants(psychopomps), acolytes, and temple attendants number in the few thousand among all the beings of the Zone, and his shrines are tiny.

Still, Death is given its due respect, and prayers to Aodh are well remembered when times call for rare funerals among the undead of the Zone. Neverborns are especially prone to worshiping this deity, as they feel more 'alive' in their own estimation than ghosts experiencing an 'afterlife'.

Outside of worship at funerals, warriors respect the God, asking for protection from his domain during battle, and are the most likely to recall or swear on his name, seeing the reality of Ending most often among Zone denizens. They also have their own dirges and songs honoring their fallen and calling to his psychopomps to spirit the essence of their brethren on to the Beyond.

Secondary among his worshipers are hunters, who thank both Cernunnos and Aodh for their kills, and the occasional newly formed ghost of the formerly living. They pray to him when thinking of departed family who they don't find in the Zone, and the most bitter, to kill their living enemies.

The final group represents evildoers, like murderers, but though the Death Cult sees all Death neutrally, there are few killers of sapient, complex life in the Zone who so dedicate themselves to the task.

His prayers are most often attended to in the immediate aftermath and destruction wrought by a natural disaster or war, with the largest recent outcry coming from the conquering of the Zone by Pariah Dark.
