Lore Post: Goddess of Revelry, Celebration, and Gratitude

More Lore posts about Divine Spirits. This one doesn't have an AU or story dealing with her themes coming up, but she's still a fun Goddess. First one I've posted about too! Like Cernunnos and Aodh, she's one of the more minor of the Divine. You'll find a primer on her below!

Goddess of Revelry, Celebration, and Gratitude, Lúthgáir isn't poorly regarded because their domain is uncommon, like other lessor worshiped deities, but because their domain has very little conflict or reasons to go wrong.

The honored deity of festivals, feast days, and parties, her most common prayers are sent up by host(ess) throughout the Zone on the lead up to a grand celebration. The greater the occasion, the more intense the prayer. Brides/Grooms to be, head chefs and maids, butlers and homemakers all pray to her in the lead up and day of the event.

But because many of the events in question are about things falling under other deity's domains: The end of a war, the union of two families, the birth or birthday of a Clan member, much of the prayers about these celebrations go to these other deities, leaving only the preparations and the hope for fun with Lúthgáir.

The favored Goddess of drunks, bar flies, and social butterflies everywhere, she still gets plenty of idle daily worship instead of large offerings and fervent prayers. This makes her one of the more powerful deities, despite her curtailed domain and generally lower opinion of importance among those in the Zone.

As fun-loving as her namesake, and symbolized by wine, party favors, and streamers, she sees little worship among more solitary Reborns, instead having shrines and minor festivals among the cultures of the Neverborns who live throughout the Zone.

She is especially popular in the country of Kingdom Drazi, whose people enjoy vigorous parties and whose cities have bars filled to the brim every night. She is sometimes invoked as a warning to those who do not act with gratitude or who look at Good Times or Gifts of Plenty with scorn, warning her blessings will flee from the ungrateful and force upon them Bad Times.

As a result, though she isn't regarded to have much power, she is still well respected by those in a Zone, lest their beer spoil, all the presents get ruined, or the guests arrive late and in an ill-mood.

I think often times western folks tend to forget that just like western religions, eastern religions are also just, religions.

Yes, they've been culturally appropriated and white washed and fetishized by the west. Yes, you should avoid doing all of that. Yes, you should approach them with consideration and respect like you would any culture, any religion.

But they're not this Big Mysterious Thing full of Forbidden Esoteric Knowledge that thou shalt proceed with utmost caution and enter at your own risk either! We native practitioners vibe, hang, chill and have fun with these religions just like you. We have ridiculous and hilarious UPGs, too. We write and joke about them all the time, too.

Lore Post: The God of the Underworld and Death

Since today is a Bittersweet and a Passion post day, you guys get a Lore post. This time, it's about one of the Divine Beings. We'll be back with more excerpts tomorrow. I hope you enjoy the new chapters!

Aodh is a seldom worshiped being in the Zone. Because demise and Ending is so rare among sapient and complex ghosts prone to acts of worship, his cult is small.

His servants(psychopomps), acolytes, and temple attendants number in the few thousand among all the beings of the Zone, and his shrines are tiny.

Still, Death is given its due respect, and prayers to Aodh are well remembered when times call for rare funerals among the undead of the Zone. Neverborns are especially prone to worshiping this deity, as they feel more 'alive' in their own estimation than ghosts experiencing an 'afterlife'.

Outside of worship at funerals, warriors respect the God, asking for protection from his domain during battle, and are the most likely to recall or swear on his name, seeing the reality of Ending most often among Zone denizens. They also have their own dirges and songs honoring their fallen and calling to his psychopomps to spirit the essence of their brethren on to the Beyond.

Secondary among his worshipers are hunters, who thank both Cernunnos and Aodh for their kills, and the occasional newly formed ghost of the formerly living. They pray to him when thinking of departed family who they don't find in the Zone, and the most bitter, to kill their living enemies.

The final group represents evildoers, like murderers, but though the Death Cult sees all Death neutrally, there are few killers of sapient, complex life in the Zone who so dedicate themselves to the task.

His prayers are most often attended to in the immediate aftermath and destruction wrought by a natural disaster or war, with the largest recent outcry coming from the conquering of the Zone by Pariah Dark.

The Rå are the most numerous of incarnations loyal to the God Thurigyl, and they are bound the natural corridors of change, safeguarding the thresholds of life and living things, and of death and spirits, and commonly the liaisons between the domains of Thurigyl's two siblings, Dhamsar and Lol'eth, Justice and Death. Individual Rå do vary in accordance to their shifting environments, but they commonly exude energies associated with shadows, loam, twilight hours, and other transitional natural phenomena.
