Rin had to return to Japan for Gou’s high school graduation and decided to take this opportunity to bring you to his home country for a little getaway, complete with introducing you to his family and friends. Hence the immediate reservation made at Anago Hot Springs three days before Gou’s graduation to spend some romantic alone time with you before subjecting you to the chaos that was Iwatobi.

Rin held your hand as you two walked through town, stopping at various food and activity stalls to sample snacks and challenge each other to multiple games. Once you had both had your fill, Rin opted to walk with you along the shore, still holding your hand.

“I missed the beaches here so much.” He smiled, looking out over the water simmering under the moonlight. You cocked an eyebrow at him.

“We have beaches in Sydney, babe. We literally live five minutes from one of the biggest tourist beaches in Australia.”

“Yeah, but…something about the beaches in Japan is different.” Rin stops walking to fully face the water, prompting you to stand beside him and acknowledge the water as well. The water was a deep blue, that somehow glowed even in the darkness, and the lull of the waves along the shoreline seemed to have a gentle calm to it. You could immediately understand what he meant once you stopped to regard it the way that he did. “Maybe it’s because I always came to the beach when I needed to clear my head.” He smiled softly and started to scrape at the sand with his toe. “Or maybe it’s because it’s the last place my dad ever saw. Makes me feel close to him.”

You turned your head to see Rin still smiling down at the sand, no doubt thinking about his late father who had drowned at sea while working an honest job to provide for his little family. You squeezed his hand. “Is that why you swim?” You asked slowly, trying to make Rin feel safe enough to talk about his feelings. He was probably feeling a multitude of emotions since coming back to Japan after two long years of being away. He was probably being reminded of all the feelings he felt during his time here. He was probably feeling the closest he’d felt to his dad in a long time.

“At first, I wanted to train hard so I could carry out the dream that my dad never got to see through.” Rin chuckled gently and lifted his head to look out across the ocean again. “But after meeting Haru, Makoto, Sousuke, and the others, I started to swim for myself. I trained hard so that I could swim with them.” Rin let go of your hand momentarily to kneel down and brush his fingertips across the waves. “I wonder if you’ll like them.” He straightened up and dried his hand on his pants before grabbing your waist.

“I’ve met Haru.” You smiled fondly at the memory of the black haired, blue eyed man staying in your apartment when he came to visit Rin last winter. You had never seen two humans bicker more than Rin and Haru, but you could see the years of friendship between them with just a glance.

Haru took to you immediately upon seeing you interact with Rin. Mainly the way you liked to tease him and make him blush. Haru knew Rin was in good hands with you in Australia. He knew of the loneliness Rin experienced during his first time living in Australia, and was glad to see he didn’t have to worry about that this time around.

You remember meeting Sousuke one evening when you had arrived home and found Rin laughing and chatting with him over facetime. Rin immediately took the opportunity to introduce you two and the first thing you did was take note of how handsome Sousuke was. But over time, Rin got over his petty jealousy and allowed you to befriend his best friend. Now, Sousuke was someone you kept in touch with—mainly to gossip about Rin.

Rin went on to talk about Makoto, Nagisa, Momotarou, and Nitori, reminiscing about all the fun times they had together before he left for Australia. Rin talked about his high school days for the duration of the walk back to your inn.

He chatted with you about all the things he wanted to show you once you were back in his hometown while you slipped out of your street clothes and into the robes that the onsen provided.

“I’m gonna take a dip in the hot springs before bed. What are you gonna do?” You asked, securing the belt of the robe around your waist. Rin grinned and did the same.

“I’m gonna join you.”

“Rin, you know very well they are not co-ed pools.” You narrowed your eyes at him as he followed you into the hall after locking your room door.

“Awe, c’mon, it’s late. There’s probably not gonna be anyone around!” Rin pleaded with you all the way to the entrance of the hot springs. You stopped in front of the women’s entrance and smirked at him.

summary: how would marrying the free! boys go?

warnings: none! pls enjoy 💞

a/n: i cannot write nagisa or rei x reader because i ship them so hard. they’re literally so cute together + i can’t even imagine them not being together so 🙂

you marry kirishima ikuya in a traditional ryokan with a temple attached. he’s not religious, but temples have always been important to ikuya since some major events in his life have happened there + he always somehow feels hopeful there. your colors are a wine red/purple + white. he insists that you guys should have the perfect wedding, w all the bells + whistles. the ceremony at the temple lasts for like 2 hours, + you’re so thankful that it’s nice outside. ikuya is shedding tears the whole time but trying to seem composed + elegant. but you can feel him trembling because he’s clutching your hand the entire time. the ceremony is held in the only “party/conference room” in the ryokan.

it takes ikuya a while to get out of his shell + loosen up enough to dance. thankfully, hiyori helps him in this department by giving him a few drinks. then the rest is history. ikuya still can’t remember the small details of the reception, but he does remember trying to talk to the koi fish in the pond adjacent to where the reception was held. there’s videos of it, rin made sure of that. you have to drag ikuya up to your room on the 2nd floor of the ryokan + you nurse him back to health the entire next day. which was kinda nice, since ikuya is absolutely adorable when he’s all pouty. your honeymoon in stockholm, sweden doesn’t start till the following week, so you spend your first couple of days married to ikuya cuddled up to him and snoozing.

you marry nanase haruka at the beach, most likely the beach that he grew up on in Iwatobi. the man did not want to wear a suit + you, of course, know of haru’s love for water. so you compromise + he agrees to wear a nice, white cloth button down with khaki calf length pants. your main colors would be a lighter, almost turquoise blue paired with white. when he sees you walking down the aisle, all he can hear is the ocean waves behind him and your soft footsteps in the sand before him. the only thing he’s focused on is this moment, and the fact that you’re the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen.

he doesn’t know what to do with his hands or how to express his emotions. will likely shed a tear or two. haru doesn’t write vows, because he thinks it all seems so rehearsed, so he will say what he feels in his heart when the time comes. you’re all left sobbing. haru doesn’t really like huge parties so your reception has music, of course, + he has a great time just dancing w you + his friends. the reception ends a little early because he wants to be able to spend time with you alone before being whisked away to your honeymoon in santorini, greece

you marry matsuoka rin in an aquarium in tokyo. he wanted to get married in Australia but didn’t want to make his mom + sister travel, so he opted to make his Australian teammates travel instead. both the ceremony + the reception are held in the aquarium but in different areas. he —surprisingly —wanted to take over most of the planning for the wedding. he has had this dream of being married in the soft blue glow of the huge fish tank, so you guys get married in the jellyfish viewing room of the aquarium.you don’t have set colors because of the darkness of the inside of the aquarium, but it works out because the light reflecting off of the jellyfish make for the most beautiful blues, pinks, and reds.

he cries like a baby the entire ceremony. from the time he stands up at the altar he’s crying. sousuke has to read rin’s vows for him because he can’t stop sniffling + no one could understand him the first time he tried to read them. the crying doesn’t end until the reception is held in the main viewing room since it has more space + the main tank has sharks! there’s tons of photos ops for the guests and lots of dancing. he wants the reception to end semi early, like around 10p, because you guys have to catch an early flight to your honeymoon in sydney, australia (y'all just stay in the apartment you share in sydney but you go on little adventures to somewhere new every day)

you + shigino kisumi have a destination wedding! he really can’t decide between paris and rome, but you guys agree on paris since it’s known for it’s romance, just like kisumi is known for his own cheesy romance. your colors are a dusty pink + gold or white. kisumi wants the ceremony to be short so you guys can spend the rest of your wedding partying with your closest friends + family! so the ceremony only consists of your vows + the official “do you take…”. he 100% makes the dumb “kiss-me” joke during the “you may kiss the bride” moment. kinda ruins it but is also so cheesy you can’t help but smile.

he lowkey cries during his vows but you can only see glossy eyes + hear little sniffles. people in the audience most likely will not know he’s crying. BUT BOY CAN THIS MAN PARTY. you guys plan for a tonnnn of wedding games that get the entire party up + bumpin. the party lasts literally till like 5a + you guys just head back to your hotel to begin your honeymoon, since you’re honeymooning in paris anyways

you marry tachibana makoto in a garden. it’s a super small wedding consisting of only both of your families + your closest friends. your colors are pale yellow + orange which mix nicely w the deep greens of the garden. he’s had his vows written since he decided he was gonna propose to you + getting through reading them was so difficult for him. his ears + cheeks are a furious red that contrasted w the watery look in his eyes. he makes it through, though, but the paper his vows were written on ended up soaked in his tears. you + makoto ended your ceremony by releasing butterflies into the garden, which was entirely makoto’s idea. he’s crying the entire time.

the reception is held in the greenhouse that belongs to the garden. makoto actually made most of the decoration, which consists of tealights in mason jars, beautiful floral arrangements, + little wooden barrels w cute photo op accessories on them. you have to practically carry makoto home from the party because he’s all partied out. he didn’t drink a drop but the dancing + laughter + fun he shared w you + his friends tired him out. makoto has always wanted to go to new york city in the usa, so that’s where you guys have your honeymoon.

you + yamazaki sousuke have a traditional wedding in tokyo. sousuke isn’t religious but he likes the architecture of old churches + wanted to have his ceremony somewhere with high ceilings. the wedding is huge, though, because of sousuke’s huge family. all of his relatives, whether immediate family or distant relatives, are invited because sousuke felt it was the right thing to do. your wedding colors are turquoise + coral, + the church looks beautiful decorated in these colors. the ceremony lasts about an hour + a half + sousuke is fidgeting the entire time. you couldn’t tell from his face that he was nervous but you could tell from the way he was cracking his knuckles, shuffling his feet, + adjusting his tie. you take his hand in yours + immediately feel him calm down. he whispers a thank you to you + the rest of the ceremony goes by much easier for him.

he says his vows with ease + doesn’t shed a single tear, but once you guys are on your way to the reception in a nearby hotel, he’s all sniffles + watery smiles. this man parties quite hard, especially w his friends. he’s overall responsible, doesn’t drink much, but he’s almost competitive when it comes to dancing. he will outdance all of his friends + even you if you try to challenge him. because of all the dancing, he’s complaining that he’s sore the entire flight to hawaii the day after for your honeymoon.

⤷ sometimes haru can´t help but wonder f you wud be better with someone else, someone... less boring.

⊱♥︎ is the free! fandom as dead as a ghost town? probably, do i care? not at all, i have been watching the last season and this little thing came up, i have many feelings about haruka nanase.

Haruka wouldn’t necessarily call himself boring, but if put side by side with his friends he could. He doesn’t have Asahi’s boldness, or Nagisa’s bubbliness, or Kisumi’s way of making anyone feel welcome, much less Rin’s ease to break the ice stating that even while having a girl’s name he is a boy, and of course he is far from having Makoto’s wit to start a conversation with any topic.

And after the first awkward stage of your relationship breaks, the one from the first 3 months give or take he begins to worry about it in a way he simply didn’t care about before.

He finds it odd, new. The past year he has been so confused and then hesitant to take your friendship from just that to a relationship that he never really thought how things would be once you were together.

And it’s been bothering ever since he accidentally heard a conversation you had with a friend last week when he went to pick you up from the library.

��…But seriously, what do you two even talk about?” She laughs, and you laugh with her. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard him say more than three words together”.

“You just haven’t been lucky then, but don’t worry about me, Haru is plenty interesting even when he is quiet”.

And your answer eases him, and yet he can’t help but be bugged about it in an intrusive way that shows up even when he is trying to eat.

Right now you’re lying next to him. Your feet are on his lap and his are next to your hips. Sitting on opposing sides of the couch you’re both reading. He can see you’re really focused by the way your brows have furrowed.

Is this really what you’d like to be doing right now? It is Friday night and even if he has practice tomorrow morning, you don’t.

“Do you wanna do something else tonight?”

“Mmm?” Your eyes lift from the page with a curious look headed his way. There’s always something in the way you look at him, so openly and intensely yet kind and soft that has him nearly blushing.

“I was just wondering if maybe you wanted to go out or something…”

You smile, hand reaching for his calves and softly massaging the hard muscle. “Not really, do you want to go out?”.

“Not really”.

You laugh and put your book down on the floor while snuggling into the armrest. He inadvertently moves to give you room to accommodate yourself.

“Do you wanna watch a bad movie and order take out?” You ask.

Haru smiles, softly and nearly missable from the untrained eye.

Sometimes Haru worries you’re gonna get bored of him, he frequently quotes his grandma as a source of wisdom, he eats nearly the same stuff every day and he is obsessed with water.

If only he knew those same particularities are such a big part of why you fell in love so quickly, why you went to bed dreaming of the day where you would be bold enough to tell him how you felt. Except he had beat you to it.

Sometimes he worries you’re gonna get bored of him, but fortunately right now his biggest concern is what kind of mackerel dish he’s gonna get for dinner.

Nervous!Rin Who arrives at the Nagisa’s Christmas party with you closely standing beside him, tucked into his side, you just as nervous as he is to arrive together in front of all your friends. So when the door opens and Nagisa coos with a twinkle in eyes as he looks up at the mistletoe he had hung just moments before, Rei being his look at out for the both of you to arrive, you both flush and nearly fall into each other. Half out of embarrassment half out of sheer shock, but could you really be shocked when Nagisa has been trying to get you and Rin out of this weird friendzone for years?

Nervous!Rin Who flushes brighter than his maroon hair, palm coming nervously to cover the back of his neck, like that would do anything to stop the blush that is creeping up his neck and ears. He can’t help but gulp as his eyes scan the room, everyone staring at the two of you, waiting for the magic kiss.

Nervous!Rin that finally builds up the courage even though he stands on the world champion stage and dives fearlessly into the never ending depths of the pool everyday takes a step. Shifting his body to shield yours, his tall frame and broad swimmer shoulders blocking the view of your face a he bends down, calloused thumb hooking under your chin to bring your face to his.

Nervous!Rin who gives a low hiss through his sharp toothy smile seeing how pretty and soft you are right now staring into his eyes, reflecting back the same want and need as the mistletoe dangles just above the both of you. His heart is hammering, choppy and unsmooth, making him feel out of his element because right now he ins’t one with his body and he almost feels like he’s sinking even if there isn’t any water dragging him down.

Nervous!Rin finally dips his head down, eyes glancing to make sure no one could see him steal his first kiss from you one last time before his lips are finally brushing feather light against yours.Your leaning on your tip toes the moment his lips meet yours to deepen the kiss and he grabs your waist, large hand roughly pulling you into his chest while his hand on your chin circles your neck in the softest grip, keeping you in place. He doesn’t want you to move, not right now cause he doesn’t have much control left in his body thats now melted into yours.

Not so Nervous!Rin who doesn’t realize how much of his weight is bearing down on you as your fingers somehow end up carded through his soft hair tugging at the strands that have fallen out of place, groaning for air but he only pulls away to give you a small peck, enough of a break for you to both to take a small intake of air to calm the fire in your lungs before his face is slotting back against yours, tongue darting out to lick the seam of your lips.

Not so nervous!Rin That forgets your standing infront of Nagisa’s front door, his tongue curling around yours as all your combined friends try and peek at the two of you but his body is still blocking you from their curious stares, blushing faces and shouting and not to mention the giggling that Nagisa isn’t hiding in the slightest. He only remembers that you have an audience when he gives you one last long open mouthed kiss, the sharp ridges of his teeth digging into the plump of your bottom as he pull away with a cocky grin, “Merry Christmas Angel.” He smiles and hopes that he can get more than just a make out session once the two of you get more alone time tonight.
