The Chutney Sisters
Nothing could’ve prepared me for my friendship with Amanda and Elena Chutney. I had no idea what I was getting into when I stood up for them on the bus. Really, I didn’t even care much for the sisters at first. I really just hated Brooklyn, a 5’1 spitfire blonde with a vengeance on girls with a lick of sense and a sprinkle of good humor. After I cussed out Brooklyn, the sisters insisted I get off at their stop and make brownies as a thank you. I couldn’t care less about the thank you, but the brownies were an offer I couldn’t refuse. Ever since then, we were thick as thieves. They had this way about them, the sisters. They could talk anyone into doing things for them or giving things to them. They could finagle any type of complicated situation, and somehow never got in trouble for anything, never paid for anything, and never got truly upset about anything. They never cracked under pressure. They never gave into peer pressure. They didn’t care about getting caught and you could tell a small part of them was confident they could talk themselves out of it. I have countless stories of the Chutneys raging schemes or terrifyingly-unforgettable late nights, but the one night I can never forget, is the last night I saw Amanda and Elena Chutney. The last night any of us saw them.
Amanda was typically the charmer, with her wonderful conversational skills and her very quick wit, she always seemed to pull people in. She was hilarious, and I often caught myself staying up late with her and laughing until my stomach hurt and my face turned bright red. She was closer to my age, but Elena never got upset about that. Amanda was a Scorpio and a damn good liar. She had called me over insisting we needed a night to ourselves, just to relax and leave life in past and live in the present. I always went along with her babbles seeing as I knew she’d end up convincing me. Elena came in the room not even 5 minutes after I got there, urging Amanda and i got join her on a walk around the park. After a while we agreed, and ended up hopping the fence, breaking into the public pool and swimming for two hours. Elena never broke face. She was a Gemini, and it was obvious. She was not worried about the police coming for us, there are no cameras here, she said. And she was right. I’ll never forget this night, seeing as when I woke up the next morning, I was in my own bed. I knew I had fallen asleep at the Chutney’s, but I chose not to question it. That was-until I had no texts between Elena nor Amanda. I quickly threw on clothes and got into my small black car which started up with a deep rumble and quickly took me to the little yellow house I had made brownies in only two years ago after a small confrontation on the bus. Truly, I just hated Brooklyn. But, somehow, I found myself clutching my chest as I cried on the doorstep of an empty house, the only sign of the sisters being a small sorry carved into the wood of the door.

plots to come :: amelia easton, fine line
Amelia Easton had her life planned out to a T.
From the moment she stepped into Stars Hollow High, she had her "five year plan." This plan consisted of working her ass off in classes, doing some extracurriculars, and volunteering for Miss Patty at the dance studio. The end goal? To get to Princeton University, the alma mater of her mother. There would be no distractions in the form of boys, despite the fact that her best friend kept trying to set her up. She would get in, get out, and then live the life at Princeton that she had always dreamed of. And when Rory Gilmore left for Chilton, that meant Amelia Easton had no competition whatsoever.
But life never works quite in the way we want it to.
That was apparent when Amelia's mother got cancer and died.
Now, Amelia's dealing with things she's never had to. She's navigating only having one parent, her own depression, and the fact that her father is forcing her to go to a therapist. But Amelia is nothing if not determined, which means that her five year plan is still in action. She would get to Princeton even if it killed her.
Which is the only reason she agrees to tutor Luke Danes' asshole of a nephew.

Nancy Drew has the 10 typical cliche CW tropes but does it way better (ft. The Vampire Diaries)
Note: This is not exclusive bashing of TVD, I did like to binge watch it but it isn't a secret the development of its storylines is monumentally problematic and sometimes racist. This is a comparison between the common CW tropes that the creators of TVD and Nancy Drew have shown albeit with varying stages of maturity.
1. The dead parent(s) trope:
Both TVD and ND start with the protagonist, a young girl in the age range of 17-18 losing either one (Nancy- Kate) or both parents (Elena- Grayson & Miranda). In TVD, the effect of the loss is downplayed to purple prose/angsty monologues/an excuse to visit the cemetary. We see no actual emotional vulnerability of losing a parent shining through, nor any financial consequences. In ND, we see the death of her mother making Nancy's life reel back, making her do things she never thought she could do (despise with her dad and his grieving methods, tank her grades, ditch her plans for Columbia). We also see Carson trying to deal with the bills later on throughout season 1 and 2 and also the aftereffects of the grief with his rebellious daughter: side storylines that exists to maintain the reality that a loss isn't always an emotional but a financial and a mental one as well.
Tumblr media
2. Person of colour treatment:
Bonnie Bennett is the resident witch of Mystic Falls, our favorite go-to for the residence of power. It was good that TVD creators 'gave' her that much power but it was barely consequential to the plot as her character plainly existed to be a magical power bank. Bonnie was undertreated, underrated, purposely given lines like "Can I say she's a tranny mess", made a supernatural racist (there's a difference between dislike for other supernatural species and constantly planning their demise because they are 'monsters'). Moreover, all black/brown people in TVD were either witchy sidekicks or killed inconsequentially. In ND, one of of the main characters is Nick whose storyline evolves to erase the myth of internal racism, the senseless 'I will judge you mercilessly because others judge me' trope. He is treated like any normal character, but the writers have been careful and true to the heritage by including plotlines that would make Nick stand out as (a) an individual character (b) a person of colour with the most heart touching and realistic behaviour. The same can be said about the Asian American character George Fan, who is a hero in her own right. Amanda Bobbsey is shown to have her own dreams out of the town and is currently in pursuit of them. Gil Bobbsey is a bad example, I know. The fact that he is stereotyped into all the preconceived notions about South Asian men is the only thing that irritates me. Fortunately, we're getting Tom Swift as the spinoff with Tian Richards playing the handsome lead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Antagonists who turn out to be morally grey and wronged in their past
TVD creator and executive producer has, on many occasions, boasted her syntax of giving every villain a tragic backstory to redeem them. Katherine Pierce, Klaus Mikaelson, Esther, Rebekah, Sybil etc. Sorry to break it to you but a tragic backstory doesn't redeem all the horrible evil things they've done, it just makes them more human while STILL committing the wrongs. Writing an evil character to stay evil, but as a humanised evil, is established in ND with the Aglaeca who is actually the soul of a French heiress turned into a sea monster. Odette Lamar was wronged by her husband, her life taken aboard a ship in a very brutal sequence of events and her fortune hijacked by her sailor husband Captain Marvin. The writers made sure to distinguish between the supernatural evil Aglaeca that Odette had become versus the still grieving human anger of Odette's ghost.
Tumblr media
4. Adoption storyline:
Elena Gilbert was John Gilbert and Isobel Flemming's daughter, raised by Grayson and Miranda Gilbert as their own after Isobel gave her up post partum. In TVD, Elena, once getting to know this news, doesn't express any humane emotion of being bereaved of an identity (which is the reaction expected). Though she tries to look for Isobel and vents on Damon when she gets to know of his relationship with her birth mother (still gross btw), she barely deals with it. The storyline would more or less remain the same if Elena wasn't Isobel and John's daughter (make Miranda a descendant of Katherine and boom). But in ND, Nancy finds out that she was adopted even when she doesn't ask for it. The fact doesn't come out of nowhere, the reasons and foreshadowing are laid out there like breadcrumbs from the moment the pilot's story begins. Nancy going through the loss of identity phase and the 'grieving someone I don't even know' phase is beautifully crafted. Nothing is added just for the drama, there is a meaning behind it.
5. Small towns, bonus- surrounded by woods:
Mystic Falls is supposed to be a souther small town larger than life, always hosting council parties that aspire to be the Virginian version of Gossip Girl. The writers just considered the town a backdrop but didn't venture at all into making it seem like a real-life community. In Horseshoe Bay, a coastal town in Maine that was filled with superstitions and gossip mongers, there is an effort to make some of the town events actually hold meaning to the plotline or to realize the image of the community itself - we have history buffs actually seen doing history research, archaeological digging, pageant queens having snobby rivalry, flower shops, cafes, indirect racism (which is more prevalent irl than you might think) etc. Even 3 season in, Horseshoe Bay of Nancy Drew is more fleshed out of a town than Mystic Falls ever was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. Toxic men:
Okay, big setback for all Damon and Delena stans, but canon!Damon was toxic af. He made decisions for Elena, killed people for her and pretended he did her a favour and let's not even talk about the sire bond or the cure hunt or the killing Jeremy storyline. Elena actually got an endgame with such a personality, which is a supremely bad example. Because though Damon had turned over a new leaf after season 6, he had still been horrible to Elena while she was still alive and not in the coma. In ND, Gil Bobbsey is the toxic man. Manipulative even with his sister, desperate for attention, ready to bereave Nancy of her friends just to get her for himself, that kind of toxic. And because of this, it is extremely satisfying to see the toxic man NOT get the girl for once. Nancy dumps his ass when she realizes the effect his gaslighting had on her life. Go Nancy!
Tumblr media
7. The 'older men who want to show the girl all the world has to offer' trope:
There isn't a soul in the TVD fandom who hasn't smiled at Klaroline at least once. Klaus is the man who has lived longer than Caroline and exudes the wordly riches vibe. Caroline is a small town girl who dreams about all that the world has to offer. Klaus more than once propositions a getaway to all places like Paris to show her the taste of love and history and art. It would have been a good dynamic if only Klaus weren't a literal heart-wrenching, boyfriend-enslaving, mom-killing supernatural psychopath with anger and daddy issues. In ND, Nancy has Owen - a relatively older businessman (not too old, a human age gap) who enables Nancy's need to get away from her life in her town by offering her a trip to New York while they're dating. Owen's a pretty vanilla guy, and among his sole purposes was this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8. No one dies and when they do, they don't:
Bonnie Bennett is crying from hysterics at this. We've seen her die so many times and every time, Julie went 'Ha no that was just a test speed bump, Bonnie is actually alive lol'. After the first three times, it became as overlooked as Dean's deaths in Mystery Spot. Elena died thrice, Damon and Stefan too. Alaric and Matt are cackling. The thing is, the writers can kill off their characters and revive them as long as it has some meaning. Sometimes not everything exists to further the plot, it also needs its own air to breathe as a concept. In ND, George dies because of an impalement. But Nancy, in her desperation to save her friend, revives her with the shroud. This is indeed consequential to the plot and also to George as a character when she is challenged to share her mental space with the trauma of being revived as well as now sharing her body with a French lady's ghost.
9. Vintage cars (and beaten down trucks):
Damon and Stefan, both, are proud owners of old classic cars (Chevy Camaro and Porsche respectively). I'm going to make a very specific joke here and say they love their cars on fire. Though we often see Damon's possessive side over his car, I find Ace's relationship with Florence nore endearing and calm. After seeing Dean Winchester loving Baby more than his dad, and Damon and Stefan leveraging towns over their own cars, Ace's sweet talks to Florence makes my heart to plop. Nancy also has her mother's blue Mustang (book classic). Both Matt Donovan (TVD) and Nick (ND) have the same type and colour of truck too but Nick's holds a bit higher canon significance (what with them dying in it and all)
10. Whole town under mysterious hypnotic influencing:
I'll write this comparison after ND 3x04 or 3x05 comes out but I'm somehow sure that they're going to do it better than TVD season 5 Silas
(I haven't mentioned sexual representation as a point because TVD didn't have much diversified sexual representation to begin with and though lesbian relationships are a big strp from that in ND, I do wish there was more differences in sexualities written into the show)

Can I request Sydney having her car accident outside of Joseph’s compound rather than Jacob’s? And then obviously something blooms from there 🙈
Tumblr media
Amanda this was really big brain and i can't believe this couple took over my brain over the weekend. thank you for indulging me as always! 💞
Sydney still gets amnesia but it's Joseph who finds her instead of Jacob.
words: 3.2k
rating: e
warning/s: fingering, fluff, mentions of violence, sydney being completely clueless in the kitchen, joe being a tease
not only is this my first Joe fic, but i also wrote this until 4am sunday morning running on a starbucks frappuccino that I drank a bit too late cuz i was craving. so take that as you will.
“These are good.”
“You’re not just saying that?”
“Sydney I’ve tried three of your batches already. I’ve tasted enough carbon crusted cookies to know this is different.”
Sydney rolled her eyes at the Father, but she was grinning as he did seem to enjoy the new batch of cookies she made, with a fifth one already in the oven. She’d been in the compound’s kitchen the whole morning trying to perfect the recipe Elena taught her.
Luckily Joseph volunteered to taste test. Sydney wasn’t about to subject Elena to potential food poisoning. Joseph at least, well, the Voice was probably watching over him. He’d be fine.
She smiled as he took another cookie into his mouth. “You’re sure these are good enough to be served?” she asked, still worried that maybe he was just saying that because his taste buds were desensitized from the first three experimental batches.
The Father chewed on the cookie before smiling back at her, his blue eyes twinkling behind his aviators. He slid his hand across the flour-covered counter to hold hers. “They’re delicious. Our brothers and sisters will love them just as much as I do.”
Sydney huffed out a disbelieving laugh as she turned her palm over to intertwine her fingers in Joseph’s. “I just… I want to do something nice for everyone.” Her lips twitched down into a small frown. “You’ve all helped me so much.”
Joseph squeezed Sydney’s hand and she didn’t meet his gaze even as he moved to stand right in front of her, her brown hair fanning her face.
“What’s really bothering you?” he asked gently, in the same tone he used on his flock when they sought his guidance. She didn’t stop him when he tilted her chin up to look at him, and almost smiled when she saw cookie crumbs stuck to his beard.
She let out a shaky sigh. “The dreams are getting worse.” she confessed as images of blood on her hands, of people screaming before she killed them, of bodies wearing the logo of Eden’s Gate on them, flashed in her mind.
She stared up at Joseph, her brown eyes meeting his blue ones hiding behind his aviators. She could feel the tears threatening to fall as Joseph slowly moved the strands of her hair away from her face.
“Every night I hear screams of people I’ve killed.” she started, blaming Joseph’s Father persona for how quick she confessed.
She squeezed his hand that still held her own. ”And then I walk outside in the morning and see the smiles of people in the compound.” She bit her lip. “I murdered their friends and they treat me like family? I don’t…” she let out a sob. “Just who the fuck was I? Why did I kill so many of them?"
Sydney barely finished talking when Joseph pulled her into his embrace and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. She didn’t even know she was shaking until he shushed her, rubbing her back soothingly.
She had no idea how people like Elena and the other Project members could tell her God bless or greet her good morning when she passed them by, after what she did to so many of them. She didn’t even know why she did it and it made her sick.
They were good people. She must’ve been a monster before her accident, the car crash that brought her to Joseph.
Her saving grace.
“They know you’re atoning, Sydney.” Joseph told her reassuringly, the sound of his voice vibrating against her, comforting her. “Everyone here has committed sins, so have I. But we accept them and make up for them. That is what you are doing.”
She gripped onto the white fabric of his shirt tighter. “I don’t even know what I did!” she yelled. Every night she feared going to sleep, knowing that the nightmares would come in full force and haunt her, accuse her of the countless atrocities she didn’t even know she did.
It helped a little when Joseph started sleeping with her, cradling her against his chest. She’d still scream sometimes when she woke up, but he was always there to hold her and calm her down when she did.
She didn’t know how much worse it would’ve gotten if it weren’t for him.
Joseph held either side of her face, cupping and rubbing her cheeks as he placed a kiss on her forehead. Sydney’s sobbing gradually died down as he did so.
“It doesn’t matter who you were before, baby.” he whispered against her temple. “I’m just thankful God brought you here to us, to me, for this second chance.”
He hesitantly pressed his lips to hers, and Sydney let him kiss her, her body melting at his touch, just knowing how gentle he was being with her, to be so lucky that she ended up in his arms after whatever horrific acts she’d done to his people.
She kissed him back and Joseph took that as a sign to keep going. He coaxed her mouth open and slowly devoured her, breathing in heavily through his nostrils. Sydney pressed her body as close to his as possible, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and pulling him in, wanting more and more of him.
Joseph nipped at her bottom lip and Sydney gasped softly. “Joseph.” she said breathlessly against his mouth.
His hands went to her hips and he squeezed. “You’re everything, Sydney.” he said in between kisses. “You’re my salvation and my undoing.”
She hastily tossed his glasses off his face and onto the table. The last time they made out while he had them on, well…
It was a good thing he had a spare and only nicked the side of his eye. She didn’t know how to feel when John was the only one who laughed at her eye patch joke.
Joseph’s hands went to the ends of her tank top and she helped him pull it off of her. His mouth went to suck at her neck as he worked on removing her bra. She let out soft mewls and craned her neck up to him.
By the time her breasts were bare to him, his lips trailed down to her chest and he took a nipple into his mouth, swirling his tongue around and biting down gently. And God, she wasn’t ashamed of how loud she moaned, relishing in Joseph’s carnal treatment.
He pushed her against the counter and as much as Sydney wanted to sit her ass down on it, there was flour and cookie dough all over.
Plus the Joseph-approved batch of cookies too, no way was she letting anything happen to them.
Sydney clinged tighter onto his shirt and only then realized that he still fucking had one on. She went to tug it off of him but he stopped her, grabbing her wrists in his hands.
“This is about you, baby.” he growled out, and Sydney felt the heat coil in her belly as she gazed down at him from where he was pressing kisses to her breasts, keeping his eyes on hers. Fuck did he have to look at her like that? “Let me worship you."
His hands went to the waistband of her shorts and Sydney pushed her hips forward as he unbuttoned the bottoms and his fingers went underneath her panties, touching her heat.
“Joe anyone could just walk in.” she whispered as she glanced at the door. It wasn’t even fucking locked!
What a sight that would be, for one of his people to see their leader’s fingers deep inside her as she cried out his name while a tray of cookies cooled beside them.
“Does that mean you want me to stop?” he asked before roughly kissing her nipple while a finger teasing her entrance.
She bucked her hips up again and Joseph tsked at her, steadying her against the counter. “Yes or no, Sydney?”
She wanted to scream at him that obviously the answer was no and he should maybe hurry up then, but she didn’t trust her voice not to crack so she simply shook her head.
But of course that wasn’t enough for him, dammit. “Use your words. What do you want me to do?” he asked and oh fuck, she really just needed him to push his damn fingers inside of her or she was going to cry and do it herself.
“Please, baby. Need your fingers inside of me.” she whimpered.
Joseph fucking chuckled and Sydney had half a mind to scream at him but before she could, he finally moved his fingers inside of her and she moaned instead.
“You’re soaking wet.” he growled out and she let out such a weak noise when his mouth went up to suck at her neck, his beard prickling her rosy skin. “You can’t hide from me, you know that.”
She did.
For all the times her Lust begged to be satiated, Joseph was always more than happy to help her out.
She spread her legs wider as Joe’s fingers thrusted faster inside her. Her whimpers were becoming louder and he had to shush her gently.
She didn’t know why his calm and reassuring voice combined with the rough treatment of his fingers inside her turned her on even more. Only he could pull off something like that.
Fuck, she didn’t trust herself to keep quiet and thankfully Joseph seemed to sense that as well as he captured her lips in his. Her fingers found their way to his hair tie and she set his long hair free, pulling his head closer to her.
He pushed another finger inside her and Sydney moaned against his mouth and rolled her hips, feeling her end inching closer.
She mewled. “Baby I’m - ah fuck, faster - I’m so close, so close.”
Joseph pushed her further onto the counter and Sydney’s upper body practically touched the surface, the only thing keeping her from falling was her clinging onto him.
“You should see yourself, Sydney. Spread out for me and grinding yourself on my fingers.” He growled before kissing her roughly. “Absolutely beautiful. My angel and my temptress.”
Her mind was clouded with lust that she almost didn’t care if her back would be covered in flour. It’d be worth it to see Joseph standing over her, his blue eyes completely focused on her, his hair fanning his face as he fucked her in such a public space.
God, she wanted that. Wanted him so much.
His fingers picked up in speed and Sydney could feel the stars at the back of her eyes.
He nipped her ear. “I don’t think I’ll stop if anyone comes in. Let them see I’m the only one who can fuck you and make you feel good.”
Oh there was no fucking way she could stay quiet now.
"Joseph I can’t… I can't." she sobbed out.
He kissed his way along her jaw and cradled her face with his other hand. "It's ok, baby." He said so fucking calmly, how the hell could he be so calm!? "I've got you. Scream for me."
And so she did.
Her head lolled back and she yelled at the top of her lungs as she clenched around Joseph's fingers. He moved the hand on her cheek to cover her mouth, muffling her shouts of euphoria. His blue eyes stayed on her the whole time, looking at her with hooded eyes.
As she came down from her high, Joseph cradled her, his fingers still inside her and overstimulating her. "Good girl, Sydney. Good girl, so beautiful." He whispered in between kisses, his hand no longer covering her mouth.
He said it with such devotion that she almost sobbed again, the three words she'd been wanting to tell him for a while now threatening to tumble from her mouth.
Catching her breath as Joe finally pulled his fingers away, she smiled tiredly up at him. "I still need you to fuck me, baby." She said breathlessly, her heart screaming at her to tell him she loves him.
Joseph smirked down at her, moving stray brown strands of her hair away from her face. "Perhaps we should save that for later. Look."
He pointed to something behind her and it took all of Sydney's willpower to turn away from him and follow his finger.
Her eyes widened when she saw the oven's timer tick closer to the zero mark and, like he was a psychic or something, the oven dinged and her newest batch of cookies were done.
Scrambling off of Joe and zipping her shorts up, she surprised even herself when she had the clear mind to wash her hands before putting on the cute pink oven mitts Elena gave her and retrieving the delicious-smelling freshly baked goods.
She grinned at her successful fifth attempt, no burnt sides or doughy looking pieces! She turned her head up to look at Joe.
"I told you I'd get it right in less than seven tries." She said proudly. And now Benjamin owed her money.
Which she would then have to hide from Joseph because apparently gambling wasn't allowed in the compound. Oh well.
Joseph smirked and looked too amused for his own good. "I never doubted you. But I don't think you should be handing those out looking like that."
His eyes looked her up and down, and Sydney realized her breasts were still bare for the world to see.
Right.
Blushing hard, she shrugged and said, "What? You're the only one who can walk around shirtless around here?" She said playfully.
She considered it a victory when Joseph actually chuckled before handing her bra and tank top to her. He rarely laughed so openly and genuinely that Sydney treasured every time he did. Even moreso when she was the reason for it.
Whether he laughed at her or with her, it was fine.
Even if it was usually the former that happened.
Now fully dressed, she walked up to Joe and wrapped her arms around him. "Thank you." She started, smiling up at him. "For being my taste tester and for cheering me up. I know how busy you are."
His gaze softened and Sydney felt her heart soar. "I will always have time for you. You should know that by now."
A part of Sydney kept screaming at her to tell him how much she loved him, while another part told her not to, with so many excuses as to why she shouldn’t.
It was too soon, she shouldn’t be so selfish and keep him from his people, he was too busy and soon he’d realize he was wasting his time with her.
In the end, the latter part won. "I need to tell Elena I'm finished." She said instead, glancing again at her masterpiece.
Joseph smiled and caressed her cheek. "And I need to check on my brothers and sister but I'll be there when you hand out the cookies."
Sydney grinned as she pressed her lips to his, her heart bursting with the L-word for him.
Every damn time she told herself not to say it, he had to go and say something that made her heart flutter.
Maybe she’d get the courage some other day.
“I’ll talk to you later.” And then she glanced to the side, clearing her throat before looking back up at Joseph again.
“You know you still owe me sex, right?” she asked, her cheeks flaring with warmth.
Joe’s blue eyes sparkled mischievously and how can a good man of faith be so good at teasing too? “Trust me, Sydney. I’m more than aware.” he said huskily before nipping her ear.
At a loss for words, Sydney could only say “Good.” and immediately mentally facepalmed herself.
Good? Good!?
You can do better than that, Williams.
Joseph kissed her cheek and shook her out of her thoughts. “No more tears?” he asked, smiling warmly.
Sydney nodded. “I’ll try.”
“That’s all I ask.” He fixed his glasses upon his face and tied his hair neatly back into a manbun.
Sydney knew that as soon as he walked out the door, he’d become the Father again and she wouldn’t be able to bother him until later that day. He had his responsibilities after all, and so did she.
So she couldn’t stop herself when she grabbed his hand and asked, “Who I was before the amnesia…” she took a deep breath, vanishing the images of blood and corpses that threatened to resurface again. “I’m just glad you were the one who saved me, in more ways than one.”
She didn’t know why she suddenly needed to say it, maybe it was her confessing her nightmares, him reassuring her, her wanting to tell him just how much she loved him.
Joseph seemed to pause as he stared at her, like his mind was someplace else. Sydney was getting worried that she said the wrong thing.
Holy shit.
She went over the last 5 seconds checking if she actually did end up saying the L-word.
She didn't.
Right?
Right.
Joseph finally moved to kiss her forehead. "Who you were before, and who you are now, you're still the same Sydney.” Behind his yellow aviators, his piercing blue eyes met her brown ones. “God may have given you a second chance but you were never a monster.”
He said it with such confidence and assurance that it took Sydney’s breath away. Joseph always kept her horrible thoughts at bay, he was good at calming her down, at listening to her when she needed it.
She kissed him again just because. She couldn’t outright say it for now, but she could still show him how much he meant to her, how much she’d come to care for him.
It seemed cliche that she fell for the man who rescued her from her accident, but it happened anyway.
She still remembered how she smiled so goofily every time he talked to her, how whenever she’d be so absorbed or frustrated with something, her friend Benjamin simply had to say Hello Father and she’d whip around so fast trying to find him, only to see that her friend pranked her yet again as he cackled the whole time about how bad she had it.
Joseph pulled away, his smile so warm as he cupped her face in his hands and Sydney couldn’t help but love how incredibly sappy they were being.
“What we have, Sydney… I want you to know it’s one of the greatest gifts God has blessed me with.” he said softly.
Sydney tried hiding her blush with a laugh but knew it was no use, didn’t help either with how intense Joseph was staring at her. “Go, Joseph. If the cookies go cold then I’m claiming you sabotaged them.”
“With your track record in the kitchen, we both know no one will believe you.” he teased.
And dammit he was right.
She flipped him off and if she tried that weeks ago with him, he would’ve scolded her and told her how foul that was. But he slowly got used to it, and now simply laughed.
She knew better than to do that in front of his people though, that would probably be a Hope County scandal or something.
She heard the door shut behind her and Joseph was gone, leaving her alone with the cookies.
She fixed up the tray of baked goods, smiling fondly remembering how helpful her taste tester was.

For the Fanfic Writer’s Ask Game: 5, 12, & 13!
5: if you couldn’t finish (one of) your wip(s) for some reason, what writer would you trust with finishing it, if any?
Hmm I think @robbykeeneslawyer for the CK one, since they know almost everything about it and I trust their writing!
For the Bumizumi one...I’d probably pass it off to @ohsalamanders, for the same reason as above
12: what headcanon will you keep implementing in your fics, even if canon ends up contradicting it?
SO many 😂 for CK: Sam, Demetri, Eli, and Aisha all being friends, Johnny being an English and astronomy nerd (loving both for similar storytelling reasons), Daniel being a history nerd, Demetri having the last name “di Angelo” (thanks for that @robbykeeneslawyer!), Sam and Tory having requited (but thinking it’s unrequited) crushes on each other when they first meet (they don’t end up dating each other in my AU, but they do eventually tell each other), Tory becoming a PT aide after getting her GED, Sam going into medicine (either to be a doctor/nurse or sports med), Sam meeting Carmen and Rosa at dinner while dating Miguel in S1 and hitting it off with them both, Johnny and Amanda being furious on Daniel’s behalf when they find out about ‘85, Sam and Miguel having twins named James John and Elena Rosa Lawrence-LaRusso and raising them in a bilingual household...etc 😂 I’ll just stop the list there for now
As for my Bumizumi AU: Izumi as a firebender who first bent fire around age 8 (the best of both the nonbender and firebender headcanons!). She also wears glasses since childhood and forever (same as me!). She and Bumi developed crushes for each other around...I wanna say late preteen years? But Izumi overheard a conversation that made her think she couldn’t marry Bumi, and Bumi himself didn’t want to screw up Izumi’s chances, so they both agreed to just move on (spoiler alert: it didn’t work). They have two kids later in life, Iroh and Mizuki, and despite their busy jobs, they try to be as present as possible. Also, Senna (Korra’s mom) is Sokka and Suki’s daughter! Izumi and Bumi both call the Gaang grownups “Aunt” and “Uncle,” but other than their literal blood-related aunts and uncles, it’s really more of a formality/respect/general love thing (that’s how a lot of Asian cultures do it!). Oh, and Izumi befriends her teenage dad 🥰
13: do you make playlists for when you write? if so, share!
Gladly! For the CK AU, I have a Spotify and YT playlist. For the Bumizumi AU, I have a YT playlist.
questions are from here!

Deke Shaw - The Moment I Knew
Deke is one of my actual favourite characters ever and I never see anything about him so I thought I would write something!
Word Count: 2,421
Summary: When Izel infiltrates SHIELD it brings out secrets and realisations in everyone.
Warnings: Death, blood, etc...
“Great. So everybody just needs to share a secret that she wouldn't know. The more private, the better.” Elena said, looking around at the rest of the team. They had figured out that Izel was in the Lighthouse and could possess people, which wasn’t crazy at all.
“Oh, great.” May groaned.
“Right, but it has to be something that one other person can confirm.” Daisy added.
“Yeah.” Mack started, causing everyone to look up at him, “We'll clear everyone here first, then everyone else in the base. It's the best plan so far.”
Deke shook his head, “Is it the best plan? I talk a lot. I don't have any secrets.”
“Yeah, you do.” You replied. You and Deke had been dating in secret for a few months now. You had decided not to tell the team because neither of you were sure whether or not it was going to go anywhere and Deke was nervous about what Jemma and Fitz would think about the two of you.
Deke shook his head at you, “No. no, I can’t.” He defended but you gave him a pleading look and he sighed, “Y/N and I are dating. We have been for a few months.” He said.
“I can confirm that.” You added.
“Okay, right. Deke, you’re good. Y/N, secret?” Mack asked.
“I tell everyone I’m an only child but I’m not.” You started.
Davis sighed, “Because your brother was Hydra.” He finished for you, looking over at your saddened expression. Deke grabbed your hand and gave it a slight squeeze to make sure you were okay.
“Okay. Um... I, uh, tell people that the only time I miss Pitosí is during Christmas, but that's not exactly true.” Elena stated.
“It's not?” Mack questioned.
“No, it's not. She told me.” May answered.
“There's one day every year where I miss him more.”
May looked at Elena with a sad look, similar to the one Davis had given you, “Your mother's birthday.”
“That's May.” Elena confirmed, “She's good, too.”
“Okay, um... Daisy anonymously sends part of her S.H.I.E.L.D. salary to someone every month.” Mack started.
Daisy looked down at the ground and cleared her throat, “Amanda Campbell, Lincoln's sister. Mack's clear.”
“So are you. Will you and Yo-Yo come with me for a moment?” Mack asked, leading Daisy and Elena into the director’s office. Once they had both walked in he locked the door.
“Mack! Mack. What's this?” Daisy and Elena protested.
Mack turned to face the rest of the group, “Hear me out. These are new security measures. They're locked in.”
“I can still break through this glass.” Daisy retorted.
Mack looked back at the two girls, “But Izel can't... I hope.”
“You just locked up our two strongest assets against her.” Davis interjected.
“No. He locked the two strongest weapons she could use against us.” May confirmed. £Imagine if she got in one of them. If Izel got your powers, we're all dead.”
“You two stay in there until we catch her, no matter what. You understand?” Mack ordered, causing Daisy and Elena to slowly nod.
“Maybe this is a trick. Maybe she's in you.” Deke suggested.
“He knew what to ask Daisy.” Elena said through the glass, her voice coming out muffled.
“Easy there, hotshot.” Mack said to Davis. You looked down and saw that his hand was on his gun, “You're next.”
Davis looked around the room, “I knew Y/N’s, plus I don't have any secrets anyone here would...”
“Yes, you do. When we were on Krylor, you took something.” Daisy cut him off.
“You knew about that?”
“I was running that mission. I knew everything. Also, you're not smooth... like, at all.”
“I stole a pen.”
“A pen?” May asked.
“A space pen. I thought it was cool. Aliens write things down. I did not know that.” Davis answered, causing you to let out a stifled chuckle at his answer.
“He's clear. And also ridiculous.” Daisy groaned.
At that moment Piper entered the room, “The alien’s inside Deke.” She accused.
“We cleared Deke.” You defended, “It’s not him.”
“Oh, really. I blacked out today... for about an hour. When I woke up, Deke was there. I put together all the pieces.” She said, stepping closer to Deke, with her hand on her gun.
Deke let go of your hand and stepped closer too, “Hold on. I-I lost time today, too, and the last thing I remember before it happened was seeing Piper, so maybe she's Izel.”
“Oh, that sounds exactly like something Izel would say.” Piper argued back.
“Well, so does that. I know I'm me. I don't know who you are.” Deke yelled.
“Fitz. What about you?” Mack said, interrupting the fight between Deke and Piper.
Fitz looked up at Mack and then between Piper and Deke, “Well, it's perfectly clear that it’s one of these two…”
“Yeah, but still... Where was Simmons undercover the first time we met?” Mack asked.
A scoff came from Fitz’s lips as he crossed his arms, “You're asking a lot of questions. Everybody knows the smartest thing she could do... would be to go for the Director. Wouldn't happen to be you by any chance, would it?”
“Fitz. Where was Simmons?” May asked, stepping closer to him.
“You don't know the answer, do you?” Mack asked.
All of a sudden, Izel appeared, causing you to grab onto Deke’s hand again. Everyone was shocked to see her so stepped back and held out their guns. Deke stepped in front of you, protectively, even though you knew you could take care of yourself you were glad Deke was there.
“What happened?” Fitz asked, raising his hands up.
“Things don't have to be painful. They can be so easy. I just need to know who has the most power.” Izel said, looking around at the team.
Izel then jumped into Piper, who started to speak, “You all seem like friends, so let's be smart about this. Just give me what I want.” She started before moving into Deke’s body.
You jumped back away from Deke as she spoke, “And I'll be on my way. Easy.”
Mack reached forward and grabbed Deke’s neck. “Mack!” You yelled.
“No, Mack! Mack. Wait, wait.” Fitz warned as everyone got closer to them, except you.
“Maybe if I hurt him, she'll come out.” Mack threatened.
Deke – or Izel – smiled evilly at Mack, “Does that seem like a good plan, my dear?” she asked, chuckling before she jumped into Mack who was still choking Deke.
“I can kill any of you anytime I want.” He said, releasing one of his hands but keeping the other on Deke’s throat and turning towards Daisy and Elena, “Why don't you come out and stop me? What makes you so special?”
Elena grunted and hit the glass, “Don't. They need us. They're safer with us in here. You heard what Mack said.” Daisy warned her as Davis started climbing up the stairs gun in hand.
Izel jumped out of Mack’s body, “Things happen fast, don't they?” She said. Mack released Deke and both you and Fitz ran to him. Fitz gave you a questioning look and you replied with a quick, ‘Explain later.’ As you both took him up the stairs a bit.
“Hard to keep up.” She said. You heard Elena and Daisy say something unintelligible and you pulled out your gun, coming nearer to her. “Oh, bad idea, love.” Was the last thing you heard before she took you over.
The rest of the team watched as you shot yourself in the hand under Izel’s control. Deke yelled out for you, trying to get out of Fitz’s grip.
“No! Y/N, no! No!” Deke shouted, pulling at Fitz’s arm.
“Do you understand yet? Do you see how things could be much worse? All I need is someone with access. And then, poof... I'm gone.” You said.
“Davis, take the shot.” Mack said to him.
Davis looked at you, you had been friends for years, you met because he was friends with your brother and you had gone through your brother’s betrayal and death together, “I can't shoot Y/N, Director.” He whimpered.
“You just have to wound her. I'll finish Izel when she comes out.” Mack confirmed.
“Don't make him do something we'll all regret... Director.” You said.
“Davis, now!” Mack yelled, however, Izel jumped from your body into May’s, then Deke’s and Fitz’s before she reached Davis. You looked around at the current situation, putting the pieces together of what you had missed and clutched your hand, which was bleeding profusely.
He cocked his gun at Fitz before saying, “I did warn you... it could be worse.” Davis’s body moved onto the railing.
You sat on the bottom step clutching your hand. “Don't! What are you doing to him?” You said.
“So brave. And so fragile.” He said before pulling herself out of Davis’ body and letting his fall to the floor.
“No! No!!” Everyone screamed as he landed with a loud thud. Everyone ran to Davis. You sat frozen in shock, your hand bleeding as you saw a man you’d come to consider a brother fall limp and dead. Once Deke could reach you, he grabbed onto you and pulled you into a hug as Izel possessed Mack.
He put the gun against his head, “Do not follow me. I'd hate for there to be more casualties.” He said before leaving the room.
•••••
Daisy and Elena got out of the office as May alerted the Lighthouse to the current situation. You couldn’t move, or breathe, you felt as if everything was about to explode. Deke was wrapping up your hand as Daisy and Elena left to find Mack. Deke took it upon himself to tell Fitz about the two of you, and he was really accepting, not that Deke thought he would be. May then called Fitz up to her to talk about Izel.
Deke looked at you, as you sat by Davis’ body with Piper, not knowing what to do. Deke made sure you were goo with Piper before he got up to talk with May and Fitz.
“You, okay?” Piper asked, you looked up at her with tears in your eyes. “I mean, I was his friend but you were like his sister.”
“It’s like losing my brother all over again.” You replied. “I never thought I’d lose him too.”
Piper put her hand on yours and pulled you into her side. “You’ve lost way too much. But, you and Deke, wow. Never saw that coming.” She said, trying to take your mind of it.
You smiled at the mention of Deke’s name, “Yeah, I used to think he was a complete idiot but now I don’t know what I’d do without him.” You said, looking up at Deke who was lost in conversation, you then looked back at Davis, “Davis knew. He was the only one. I had to tell him.”
“He loved you so much.” Piper responded.
You looked back at her, “He loved you too.” She nodded at you and you both just sat in silence for a while.
•••••
Once Davis’ body bag had been taken away, you had gone back to your room to be left alone with your thoughts until there was a knock at your door.
“Come in.” You whimpered. The door opened and Jemma entered with a bag, which she set on the table before shutting the door behind her. “Hi.”
“Hey, you okay?” She asked, opening her bag and taking stuff out. She beckoned you over to her so you went to sit on the couch and lifted your hand to her. Amidst the chaos, you’d almost forgotten about the whole in your hand. She unwrapped the bandage to see that the hole and started to shrink. “That’s nasty, but don’t worry. You heal fast.” She said. That was your power. You were a mutant and your power was fast healing, you could also help to heal other people but unfortunately not bring back the dead. “So,” Jemma started, changing the subject, “You and Deke, huh?”
You smiled, slightly, “He told you?”
“He did. He’s very worried about you.” Jemma said, cleaning your wound.
You flinched from the pain, “Of course he is. He’s the best.”
Jemma smiled, grabbing a bandage and starting to wrap your hand up, “He said that you’d asked to be left alone?”
“Yeah, I just, everyone’s busy working and I don’t think I can join them right now, you know, I miss Davis. It’s only been what thirty minutes but I miss him. I couldn’t do anything to help him. I couldn’t…” You confessed, trailing off as another flood of tears started to fall from your eyes.
“Maybe that’s why you shouldn’t be alone. You can’t blame yourself, Y/N.” She said, finishing the bandage and packing up her bag. “I’ll get Deke, then, yeah?” You nodded as she left the room.
You didn’t have to wait long before there was another knock at your door. Deke opened the door and came in, giving you a weak smile. “Nana said you wanted to see me.”
You nodded, another tear falling down your cheek. “Could you just come here, please?” You asked. He obeyed your request and sat down next to you. You laid your head on his chest and put your arms around his waist. He followed your lead and lent back on the couch, wrapping his arms around you.
“You know, when she was in you, I was so scared of what she’d do and then when she shot you… I felt like I couldn’t breathe.” Deke confessed, “I know it’s worse for you, though. With Davis. But he loved you, yeah. I saw how you two were. If I’m being completely honest, I was kind of threatened by him when I first met you. I liked you and I thought he did too.”
You smiled, “Thank you for being here, Deke. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“Same here.” He started, “Today, I realised something, Y/N. Something important.”
“What?” You asked.
“I love you. I’m in love with you.” He stated, your eyes widened and you moved to look into his eyes, “My mum always used to tell me that I would just know, there’d be a moment. The moment I would know. That moment was when I saw you in danger and I couldn’t do anything. That was the moment I knew that I loved you.”
You smiled a little, “I love you too, Deke.”

“Taking Chances Part Three: Suspicions”
Finally posting Part Three! Sonny and the rest of the squad get suspicious about what’s going on with Rafael 👀  Check out the other chapters on my Masterlist. Part 4 will be posted this week! ❤️
Tumblr media
You and Rafael had been together for one month. One exhilarating month. Neither of you expected to move so fast given your past romances. You had been left broken-hearted by your cheating ex-fiancé. For Rafael, it had been years since he had been in a relationship. He was once in love with his first serious girlfriend, Yelina, until she dumped him for his childhood best friend, Alex Muñoz. There were one or two girlfriends after that, but for the most part, Rafael buried himself in his work.
This time around was different. There was an undeniable connection between you both. An initial spark that quickly unfurled into an intense passion, made increasingly evident by the dirty looks your neighbors would give you the morning after Rafael spent the night. It felt as if you had been together forever.
Luckily for your neighbors, the majority of your evenings were spent at Rafael’s. Not only were his walls thicker, but his place was halfway between the precinct and the gallery, making it convenient for both of you.
One cold February morning you sat at Rafael’s kitchen counter, leisurely sipping a cup of coffee, sketching in your notebook while he got ready for the office. It was routine by this point. He padded into the kitchen, barefoot and half-dressed, wearing only his pants and an undershirt, his suspenders hanging loose at his sides.
You handed him a cup of coffee, not even bothering to glance up from your drawing. “Never would’ve taken you for a white chocolate macadamia nut fan,” you casually said.
Rafael nearly choked on his drink, instantly recognizing the flavored creamer hit his tongue. “Found it in the back of your fridge, hidden behind a bag of salad that looks like its been there since you moved into this apartment. I had no idea you were an International Delight kinda guy,” you teased, hooking your finger under his belt loop, tugging him towards you.
Rafael chuckled and took another long sip of his coffee. “What can I say, I’m full of surprises.” Leaning forward, he gave you a peck on the lips before glancing down at his watch.  “I better get dressed. I’m running late.” He set his cup down, furrowing his brow as he took in your state of dress. “Is that the shirt I laid out last night? And my socks?”
You sheepishly smiled at him, fiddling with the hem of his light blue pinstripe shirt, your toes curling in his butter yellow socks. “What can I say? I like wearing your clothes. They inspire me,” you said with a shrug and handed over your sketchbook full of doodles. Well, to you they were doodles. To Rafael, they were works of art.
“While I’m thrilled that my Brooks Brothers apparel is your muse. May I please have my clothes back?” He placed the sketchbook back on the counter and checked his phone, expecting you to go into the bedroom to change—but you had other plans. With a smirk, you slowly began to unbutton the shirt, sliding it off your shoulders, revealing your naked body.
Rafael abruptly halted his text to Liv at the sight of your supple form. Licking his lips, he drank you in from head to toe while blindly trying to set his phone back down on the counter.
“What?” You feigned innocence and batted your lashes at him. “You wanted your clothes back, didn’t you?”
Rafael’s eyes darkened. “You now better than to tease Papi like that.”
You took a step closer and ran your hands up his arms, gently squeezing his biceps, your lips grazing along his neck. The smell of his cologne enveloped you, invigorating your senses. “Hmmm, you gonna punish me?” You purred in his ear.
Rafael let out a shaky breath. In an instant, he had hoisted you over his shoulder causing you to squeal in surprise. With a teasing slap to your ass, he turned around and headed straight towards the bedroom.
*****
Olivia walked out of her office to find her squad at one of the large conference tables in the bullpen, waiting to discuss a recent case SVU caught where a high school senior, Elena Reyes, was raped in her hotel room during a weekend field trip to New York.
“Where’s Barba?” Fin asked when he saw his lieutenant.
Olivia sighed and took off her glasses. “Texted me this morning and said he was running late again.”
Fin leaned back in his chair, his curiosity piqued. “That’s the sixth time this month. Wonder what’s going on?”
“Maybe he has a girlfriend,” Sonny chimed in while trying to balance a pencil on his nose.
Fin laughed. “Barba!? You gotta be kidding me! That man is married to his job. My Grandpa Iggy probably gets more action than him at the nursing home.”
Stranger things have happened,” Amanda said with her head down as she folded a piece of paper into a small paper football. “The man is wound tighter than a tourniquet. A girlfriend would be good for him.” Amanda took her paper football and aimed it towards Fin, who held up his fingers to resemble goal posts. She flicked it across the table, the football flying right between Fin’s waiting hands.
“Touchdown!” Fin exclaimed.
Olivia sighed. “Seriously, guys. Don’t we have anything better to do while we wait for Bar—”
“Sorry I’m late,” Rafael announced, bursting into the precinct.
The lieutenant’s eyes widened slightly, noticing his flustered appearance. A stark contrast to the razor-sharp, collected ADA she was used to working with. “Nice of you to join us,” she quipped.
“Yeah, traffic was a nightmare coming down Lafayette.” Rafael lied. He shrugged off his coat and set his briefcase down, making a beeline to the snacks set up next to the coffee pot. Your unexpected morning sexscapade had left him starving. He grabbed a handful of pretzel sticks and poured himself another cup of coffee before sitting down at the conference table. “So what do we have on the Elena Reyes case?” He asked, popping a few pretzels in his mouth.
Amanda cleared her throat. “You know, counselor, before we begin. I couldn’t help but notice how late you’ve been recently,” she said with a glint in her eye.
“Excuse me?” Rafael arched a brow at the young blonde detective.
Sonny crossed his arms and cocked his head to the side, looking Rafael over. “Yeah, your shirt’s a little rumpled. Hair isn’t as coiffed as it normally is and—“ he leaned closer to Rafael and sniffed—“Do I smell perfume on your clothes?”
Rafael scowled and scooted his chair away from Sonny. “Is there a point to this line of questioning?”
“Yeah, you got a little honey on the side?” Fin added.
Rafael scoffed. “I beg your pardon?”
“Hey, we’re not judging,” Sonny said with his hands raised in the air as if he was surrendering. “After all you’re human. Everyone needs to get—”
Rafael interrupted, “Please for the love of God do not finish that sentence.” Feeling an onslaught of a migraine begin to set in, he closed his eyes and massaged his temples. Pushing thoughts of the lovely morning he had with you aside, Rafael switched gears. He opened his eyes and glared at everyone around the table. “I’m thrilled that my personal life is such an amusement to you all. But if you don’t mind, may we please get back to the Reyes case.”
“Barba’s right,” Olivia said. “Let’s get back to work. Fin, Rollins, you went to the hotel this morning. What did you get?”
Fin and Amanda debriefed everyone on what they found in Elena Reyes’s hotel room. Throwing a wrench in the case, the perp wore a condom and the hotel security cameras had been broken for months, but the squad was able to pinpoint at least three potential suspects.
As the discussion continued, Oliva couldn’t help but occasionally glance over at Rafael. Working in SVU for nearly twenty years had made her an expert at reading faces and Rafael’s face was a tell. His stare may have been icy but the slight blush of his cheeks; the way he averted his eyes—she knew he was hiding something.
Rafael stood up from the table and made his way over to the white board. The smug faces of the high school seniors stared back at him. “There’s still not enough physical evidence. No judge is going to sign off on a warrant for DNA swabs of a bunch of broskis. No matter how you spin it. Keep digging,” he said, grabbing his jacket and briefcase, abruptly leaving the bullpen. He hadn’t been able to stop by his office that morning, having gone straight from his apartment to the precinct and there was a mountain of paperwork waiting on his desk.
While waiting by the elevator doors, Rafael put his hand in his coat pocket, knitting his eyebrows when he felt a crinkle of paper. He pulled out a post-it with a small doodle. The doodle was of him asleep in bed—his hair sticking out at all ends; his face relaxed and content. You must have drawn it that morning.
He flipped the post-it over and saw a note in your hurried handwriting.
Check your other pocket.
Following your instructions, he reached into his other pocket and pulled out a small handful of black lace and silk, instantly recognizing them as your panties. He stuffed the skimpy lingerie back in his pocket, looking around to make sure no one had seen.
“Saucy minx,” he muttered to himself, unable to conceal the smile on his face as flashbacks came rushing back of your legs wrapped around his waist, moaning things in his ear—so dirty they would make a pornstar blush. What he wouldn’t give to be back in bed with you.
“Counselor,” Sonny called out, running over to Rafael. “Ya’ forgot this.” He handed him a file with several of the witness statements.
“Oh...thanks, Carisi.” Rafael tucked the file into his briefcase.
Rather than go back into the bullpen, Sonny stood there, rocking back on his heels. “Hey, Barba. About earlier, ya’ know we were just playin’. If you did find someone, I’m happy for ya’. She must be a pretty special person.”
Rafael gave Sonny a tight-lipped smile, gripping the panties in his pocket so tight, his nails dug into the meaty part of his palm. The elevator finally dinged, announcing its arrival.  “Saved by the bell,” Rafael thought as he practically ran inside, frantically pushing the button to the lower level.
As soon as the doors closed, Rafael rested his head back against the wall, his whole body sighing in relief. He couldn’t help but feel guilty, sneaking around and dating you right behind Sonny’s back. Carisi may have been as annoying as a puppy yipping at your heels, but he was a good detective and would someday make a great lawyer. How would he feel knowing that the reason for Rafael’s recent tardiness was because of you. The perfume on his clothes and the panties in his pocket were yours. Sooner or later, you would have to break the news to Sonny. Rafael could only hope that he would take the news well.
*****
The texture of the polenta was perfect. The veal shanks were braising beautifully. It was the perfect evening in—all that was missing was your boyfriend. You invited Rafael over for dinner and a movie, knowing he had had a stressful week with the Elena Reyes case and that his fridge only contained a sad bag of salad and fancy coffee creamer.
Of course when you planned your romantic night in, you didn’t factor on a freak snowstorm. Taking a quick peek out the window, you were surprised at how fast the snow was beginning to accumulate. It was coming down in droves. “Guess this adds to the ambience,” you mumbled to yourself.
A familiar buzz pulled you away from the scenic view outside. You checked your phone, expecting it to be Rafael, but instead saw your brother had texted.
Hey, we’re supposed to get a blizzard tonight. Want me to come over? We can make pizza, watch a movie? It’ll be just like old times.
You smiled, remembering back to when you were kids and quickly sent your brother a reply.
I’d love that but I have other plans tonight. Rain check?
Although there was a big age gap between you and Sonny, whenever school was cancelled on account of snow, he would ditch his high school friends and spend the day with you instead. You would spend hours playing outside—sledding, and throwing snowballs. When it got too cold, he would bribe you into the house with countless games of Mousetrap and watch any Disney movie you wanted until you passed out on the couch.
You both were inseparable. Even now as adults, you would hang out at least once a week. Lately, between your job and Rafael, you barely had time to spend with Sonny. You knew he would begin to grow suspicious. The detective in him would be snooping around and asking questions as to why you were suddenly unavailable.
Your phone pinged again.
Yeah. I just never see you anymore. I miss you, kiddo. Everything ok?
You were just about to text your typical response that everything was fine when there was a knock at the door. Abandoning your phone on the kitchen island, you ran to the foyer and opened the door, busting out laughing the moment you saw Rafael.
He was completely covered, vaguely resembling the Michelin Man, wearing a thermal hat, wool scarf, and a puffy Canadian Goose jacket. You wouldn’t have recognized him if it weren’t for the striking seafoam green eyes peeking out from under the layers of clothes.
“Oh my God! Did you walk here?” you asked, wiping the snow off his jacket and scarf.
“The roads were so bad my Uber had to drop me off at the street corner.” He shed his outerwear and hung them up on your coat rack, finally resembling a human being and not a Yeti from the Himalayas. “It’s really coming down out there. I can’t believe we’re getting a snowstorm in March.”
“That’s global warming for ya’,” you teased, the tiniest hint of your Staten Island accent coming through. Cupping his face, you kissed his frozen pink cheeks, trying to bring some warmth back into his body.
“I brought some wine.” Rafael handed you a bottle of Brunello.
“This is perfect. It’ll pair nicely with the osso buco which I need to check on. Why don’t you open it and let it breathe for a bit while I finish dinner,” you called out over your shoulder while running back into the kitchen.
Rafael followed you inside, a mouth-watering smell wafting through the apartment. Your home was a stark contrast to his. It was cluttered but cozy. Organized chaos, you affectionately called it. Filled with mismatched furniture handed down by your family. Books and photographs of you and the rest of the Carisi clan littered the end tables. The walls were covered in your artwork. There was one piece in particular where you had painted a woman’s arm with a rose tattoo on her bicep holding a hammer, underneath was the phrase, “Smash the Patriarchy.”
He opened the bottle of wine, watching as you stirred a simmering pot on the stove, humming a Dean Martin song to yourself. You were casual and content, dressed in grey leggings, an oversized soft pink v-neck sweater, and thick wool socks. Your hair was up in a messy bun, a few loose tendrils framing your face. The sweater slid down, revealing your right shoulder. It was sexy and alluring, the subtle hint of skin just begging to be caressed.
Unable to resist, he wrapped his arms around your waist and left a trail of soft open-mouthed kisses up the curve of your neck. “Mmm delicious,” he purred.
Your eyes slipped closed as you reached back and ran your fingers through his hair. “Instead of tasting me, why don’t you try this sauce?”
“Who says I can’t do both.” He licked the sensitive spot beneath your ear.
A whimper escaped your lips. “You’re distracting me, Mr. Barba.” You dipped a spoon in the pot and turned to face Rafael, blowing on the hot liquid before holding it up to his lips.
He took a taste, moaning obscenely. “Ay Dios Mio, that is incredible.”
You beamed with pride but tried to brush off his compliment. “This is nothing. Wait till you try my homemade pasta.”
“I’m gonna have to buy bigger clothes if you keep feeding me like this.” He pushed you up against the counter and kissed you hard. You tilted your head to deepen the kiss, massaging his tongue with your own. All thoughts of dinner were quickly forgotten. You were suddenly hungry for something else or someone else. His hands reached under your sweater when he glanced behind your shoulder and spied a photo of a certain blue-eyed detective on your fridge. Rafael froze and instantly pulled away.
“What’s the matter?” You panted, turning your head and following his gaze to the photo. “That was taken at my sister’s wedding in Montauk. I looked awful. I mean, I love my sister but she picked the ugliest bridesmaid dresses. I had so much hairspray in my hair that night, I couldn’t stand near an open flame.”
Rafael reached behind you and took the photo in his hand. You were right. The dress was hideous, a turquoise taffeta nightmare, but it wasn’t the dress that caught his attention. What first struck Rafael was how happy you looked with your big brother, smiling and hamming it up for the camera. It was obvious how close you both were.
Rafael felt a pang of jealousy. Growing up as an only child, life could be lonely. He would secretly wish for a little brother or sister so he could have someone to play with. Now looking back, he was grateful that it was only him. Having to endure his father’s abuse was bad enough, he couldn’t bear the thought of a sibling suffering alongside him.
Staring at the photo of your brother brought back that gnawing guilty feeling he had experienced earlier that week in the elevator. “When are we gonna tell him?”
“Soon,” you sighed and turned back to the stove, adding the gremolata to your sauce. “I’ve just been busy”
“Busy? I think you’re stalling.”
“It’s just…it’s complicated.” You gently pushed Rafael out of the way to reach a platter from the cupboard.
A sinking feeling began to form in the pit of his stomach. “You’re not ashamed of me, are you?” He quietly asked.
Hearing the pain in his voice, you immediately stopped plating the veal shanks and turned towards him  “No! I could never be ashamed of you.” You vehemently shook your head and brought his hand up to your lips, pressing a kiss to his knuckles. “It’s me. Sonny’s never been easy when it comes to my boyfriends. Not even Theo, my ex, and he was our next door neighbor. You and Sonny work together. I’m just afraid it’ll complicate things. That I’ll complicate things and—” Then you’ll break up with me. You didn’t say it but the words hung heavy in the air.
Rafael cupped your face and softly stroked your cheek with his thumb, finding himself lost in your hypnotic eyes. “You’re Carisi’s sister. This was always going to be complicated. But that doesn’t mean it’s not worth. You’re worth it,” he whispered.
“Ok, we’ll tell him this week. I promise.” With a disarming smile, you held out your pinky to him. Rafael snorted a laugh but locked his pinky with yours. “Now that we’ve got that sorted. Why don’t you pick out a movie while I finish with dinner.” You playfully smacked his ass as he walked out of the kitchen.
While you were pouring the sauce over the meat, you heard Rafael call out from the other room. “Hey, what’s this?”
Your head snapped up. Dropping the pot with a clang, you ran out of the kitchen to find him by your easel about to take the tarp off your latest piece.
“FREEZE!” You slid across the hardwood floor in your wool socks, body blocking Rafael from the art. “Don’t touch that! It’s a surprise!”
Rafael’s eyebrows shot up into his forehead. “A surprise? For me?”
“No, for my other boyfriend,” you dryly said, rolling your eyes. “Yes, of course it’s for you and it's not ready, yet so no peeking.” You faced the easel to readjust the white tarp covering your art. Curious as to what the mysterious shroud contained, Rafael stepped closer and peered over your shoulder. “I mean it.” You turned and gave him a stern look before softening your face. “Did you decide on anything? I don’t have a big selection so if nothing appeals to you, we can watch Netflix or something.”
Rafael smiled and grabbed your hips. With your body flush to his, he kissed you, nuzzling his nose with yours. “Tell you what. You cooked so you can pick the movie.”
You bit your lip and lifted your eyes to the ceiling as if you would find the answer hanging in the air. “It’s a toss-up between Titanic or Alien.”
He made a face and rubbed his stomach. “I would say Alien, but I don’t know if I can handle that chest-bursting scene while eating.”
“Hmm good point. Titanic, it is then!” You announced and went to grab the DVD of the sweeping romance.
*****
You and Rafael snuggled up on the couch under a blanket, watching Jack and Rose fall madly in love with each other on the doomed passenger liner while having a lively discussion about whether or not there was in fact enough room on the door for both of them. The decision was unanimous—there was enough to room, although Rafael did argue about buoyancy.
By the time the old lady dropped the diamond necklace into the ocean, you both could barely keep your eyes open, exhausted from a long hard week. Turning off the TV, you trudged down the hall, hand in hand.
You wordlessly got ready for bed. Rafael finished brushing his teeth and walked into the bedroom where you were undressing. Your body illuminated by the moonlight streaming through the window. He stopped in his tracks, having never seen a more glorious sight, committing every curve, every freckle to memory.
You caught his eye and smiled, blushing under his intense gaze. Rafael had seen you naked countless times, but this time felt different. The way he stared at you, as if you were some otherworldly creature that had come into his life.
He stepped closer and stood in front of you, reaching out to stroke your hair. “You’re so beautiful,” he breathed.
Your heart fluttered. Slowly, you began to undress him, tugging off his navy blue crewneck sweater, unbuttoning his jeans, shedding layer after layer, until he was naked. “What are you doing?” he asked.
You didn’t respond, rather you placed a soft kiss on the left side of his chest, right over where his rapidly beating heart lay before wrapping your arms around him. There were no sexual undertones in that precious quiet moment. All you wanted was for Rafael to feel your love for him in that simple gesture.
A lump formed in his throat. Rafael had never experienced a love like this. It had been years since he allowed himself to feel this way. He didn’t realize how deeply he could love one person and more importantly that he deserved that kind of love in return. Instead of cautiously dipping his toe into the water, he jumped in feet first. Those precarious walls he had built came crumbling down under your slightest touch. Standing there with you in his arms, he didn’t feel vulnerable or exposed; he felt safe, like he was home.
He lead you over to the bed and gently laid you down on the mattress before moving next to you. That night Rafael covered you like a blanket, his kisses tender, passionate, and all-encompassing. It wasn’t long before you both fell asleep, holding each other close; the snow softly falling outside your bedroom window.
Meanwhile somewhere off in the distance, your phone buzzed, the battery dangerously low.
Hey, I think I left my immigration law book at your place. I’m gonna stop by tomorrow morning and pick it up. I’ll even make chocolate chip pancakes :)
The text message from your brother flashed on the screen once before the battery ran out and your phone died.

‘i can’t make you trust me. but i’m gonna stick around long enough for you to realize you can.’ ( DANY TO AMANDA )
--- at this point, she had told no one about the pregnancy. in truth, she did not have a single thing to hide, but... for the longest time, she would have had no one TO TELL. now, that was changing for her. she had family through JOHN, and she’d made a few friends of her own. she had elena, and she had DANY. even though john knew both of them, she knew that her friends would come to her side INSTANTLY, if she needed them there. that counted for a lot. as DANY told her what she did, the brunette did not realize how her hand hovered over her stomach. she was doing that more and more recently. she felt her eyes mist a bit, and she was not far along enough to chalk the reaction up to hormones. she could push her luck with that later. “I TRUST YOU.” the words that parted from her lips did not surprise her themselves, but how quickly she had jumped to dissuade her friend from traveling down an incorrect path DID. “in fact, i trust you so much that i am going to tell you something that no one but JOHN knows.” the butterflies were building in her stomach, as she gazed at her companion. she still had to tell elena, too. she made a mental note to visit her friend later that same weekend. “I AM PREGNANT.” a little smile snuck its way out from its hiding, as she grinned at her friend, and reached for her hand. “i could not have even told you SOONER,” she confessed. “i only just found out.”

When you get a pneumonia
Tumblr media
∙ Requested ♡ ∙ Word count: 3,026
∙ A/N: Hi everybody! How are you all? I’m back with another scenario from our lovely Jungkook. I hope you’ll enjoy...
What have you all been up to these days? I’ve been busy with work, as always. I also adopted a kitten a few days ago, she’s so lovely. Yet, I’ve got my hands full on her. Are you a dog or a cat person? I have both, so I’m not quite sure...
Tumblr media
“Good job everyone! Keep up the hard work and we will slay next weeks performance!” Amanda said, a huge grin covering her face as you all made your way back towards the dressing room. It had been a long and exhausting day, but after all you felt satisfied by how everything had gone by. You had been working towards these promotions for months and now that they were finally happening everything seemed so surreal. Your new album had dropped a few weeks ago and the plan was to promote it until the award shows which started next week. After all you did want your fans to be aware of your new songs before you’d go and perform them on huge shows like that. But things were looking good. You’d practiced and performed non stop for the last few days, always trying to improve yourselves. And the public loved it. Your album had entered the world with a loud bang and seemed to have taken over the entire country. Everyone seemed to be talking about it and things couldn’t have been more successful. It was as if you were all on cloud nine, celebrating the fact that for once everything seemed to be going according to plan. It seemed like these promotions were going to be the best you’d ever had in the history of your bands existence.
“Did you see the audience? They were losing their minds! They already knew the entire lyrics to our songs.” Elena jittered beside you, and you smiled, glad to find her this happy. Yesterday, when she’d visited you inside of your hotel room, she’d still been worried that everything might go wrong. That your luck might end and things would go down hill from now on. But even her worried had faded after today’s concert. Taking a sip from the water bottle inside of your head you realized you were more thirty than you’d realized and emptied it in almost one go. Licking your lips you bowed towards the staff standing in the halls, who’d come to congratulate you. You frowned when you felt a slap against the shoulder and looked beside you to see who was responsible. Jessica shot you a bright smile and threw her arm around your shoulders as you walked on. “Why are you so quiet? Aren’t you happy?” She asked, and you stopped the need you felt to roll your eyes at her silly comment. Of course you were happy. But you were also tired, and you needed a hot tea and a warm bath to finish the night. You knew your friends would want to go on and celebrate this great night some more, but you simply couldn’t find the energy for it.
You’d been having a cold since the start of last week. It had started with sneezing, a runny nose. But soon you’d gotten a soar throat and your almonds had swollen until they were twice their normal size. You hadn’t felt like doing much during the past few days but you’d still committed yourself to practice and work hard just like the rest of your members. Because you definitely weren’t letting them down because of a stupid cold. “Of course I’m happy.” You squeaked, your voice tired of straining it all day. It was a miracle you had been able to hit the right notes while singing, and you hadn’t sounded off key. But you knew that for the rest of the night you’d have to spare your voice if you wanted to be able to use it again tomorrow. You screwed the lid back onto your now empty water bottle and threw it in the trash as soon as you entered the dressing room. The couch was calling out for you and you didn’t fight it but walked straight towards it. Dropping down on the soft pillows you finally allowed your sore muscles to relax. Yet your peace didn’t last long as a terrible cough rattled through you. You didn’t need to see the look on everyone’s faces inside of the room to know that it sounded disgusting. You’d expected things to get better over the days, but instead it seemed to have become worse.
Your throat was so raw it almost felt as if it was bleeding on the inside. Every time you breathed you could feel your lungs expand inside of your chest, as if in protest. Your head felt too big to fit on your neck, but somehow it hadn’t fallen off yet. You were surprised you had been able to make it through the week. And even though you knew it would have been wise to go see a doctor but you just simply didn’t have the time. Perhaps it was an idea to make work of that, now that you’d have a few days off. “Are you sure you’re okay? You look a bit pale.” Amber said, concern coloring her voice as she sat down beside you. Looking up at her your smiled reassuringly, not wanting to ruin her perfect night. They all deserve to be happy, and your cold was your own problem to worry about. “I’ll be fine, just a bit tired.” You said, reaching for your cardigan which you had gotten rid of right before starting your performance. You were always chilly these days, so you took a cardigan with you everywhere you went. Even now, after you’d been sweating throughout your performance, you felt the chill settle on top of your skin.
“You’re not planning on driving home like this are you? You should just come with us.” Amber suggested, eying you suspiciously while you were wrestling to get your arm into your sleeve. You definitely understood her concern, but it wasn’t something you hadn’t thought about before. Hugging your jacket close to you, you shot her a little smile. “Jungkook is picking me up.” You explained, remembering the way your boyfriend had practically begged to pick you up from work. He surely was just as worried as your friends, and just like them he wasn’t easily soothed. This seemed to relief some of them, knowing you weren’t going home by yourself and there was someone near to take care of you, just in case. “I don’t understand how on earth you can wear that cardigan, it’s so hot in here I’m melting.” Jessica said, and you shot her a look. She was trying to be dramatic, but you weren’t going to let her get to you. You no longer had the energy to listen to her pointing things out to you. “I’m cold, you know I always am.” You reminded her, which was the truth. You were always cold, even in the hot weather during summer. You were just one of those people who never warmed up. Jungkook aways had to be prepared to lend you his jacket and you always had to take scarves and coats everywhere, just to be sure.
Before you knew what was going on Elena had sneaked up from behind you, and her hand was resting on your forehead. You jumped back from her touch, which seemed to be even colder than the temperature inside of the room. “Jesus __________, you’re burning up. You’ve got a fever.” She scolded, and you quickly lifted your hand to your own forehand to check that statement. Yet, you didn’t seem to feel the same she did. Yes you were hot, but you’d just been running across a stage for almost two hours. It wasn’t strange that you were sweating or that you were feeling warm. “You’re overreacting, I’m fine.” You repeated, getting kind of annoyed by their overprotectiveness. You’d be fine after a good night of sleep. You just needed some rest, afterwards you’d be just fine. As soon as you got home you’d take a nice shower and then you’d get to bed and curl underneath the sheets. You’d feel much better when you’d wake up tomorrow and you knew you didn’t have any workouts waiting for you. You’d just enjoy your free day at home, cuddle with your boyfriend if you felt better. The last thing you wanted was to infect him.
“I think you should let someone check up on you, just to be sure.” Amanda continued and you ignored her as your eyes darted around the room to look for something to drink. The more you tried to explain to them that you didn’t need anything the more they would baby you. You’d always been the one to look out for, as the youngest of the group. Finding a bunch of water bottles piled together you pushed yourself up from the sofa, feeling your muscles protest heavily. You reached the water just in time, feeling another cough overtake you. It definitely didn’t sound like an innocent cold, yet that didn’t mean others were supposed to make such a fuss about it. “I’ll go to the doctor tomorrow, I’m tired, I just want to go home.” You pressed on, hoping they would finally let it go. The euphoric atmosphere that had been present in the room because of your great performance seemed to have disappeared over the past ten minutes. Now there seemed to be a loaded tension inside of the room, like a bomb waiting to explode. They all had an opinion, it was resting on the tip of their tongs. They simply weren’t saying it out loud.  You really needed Jungkook here, perhaps he would choose your side.
Twisting the water bottle you took a few big gulps, hoping the water would sooth your sore throat. Instead the fluid seemed to drop inside of your stomach like a rock. A nauseous feeling washed over you, almost knocking you over. You could feel the last bit of adrenaline leave your body after the performance and it was as if your body had simply decided to shut down in the process. Looking for some support you reached towards the wall, leaning against it. You couldn’t remember it being this hot inside of the room. Somehow you desired to rip every piece of fabric off of you. In the blink of an eye you had gone from freezing to burning up inside. It was as if a fire had started inside of you. Catching your breath made you feel as if you were running a marathon. Every gulp seemed to be coming too slow, no matter how hard you tried. It was as if your lungs had collapsed and with the little you knew about anatomy, even you knew that was’t good. Your body needed oxygen in order to survive, and as to right now you could tell you weren’t getting enough. Black spots danced in front of your eyes while your legs seemed to give in, pulling you towards the ground.
When you finally woke up you felt as if you had been asleep for weeks. It was as if someone had hit you in the head with something big and heavy. Your head felt as if it were about to split in half. A bright ceiling met your view and you had to blink your eyes against the sterile look. Small beeps came from somewhere around you and you could feel the roughness of an uncomfortable blanket underneath your fingertips. Shifting your eyes felt like an explosion was happening inside of your head, but you pushed through until you were able to gaze around the room. You were able to hold back your displeased groan just in time when you noticed something moving beside you. Startled you turning your head in the direction the sound came from and noticed a woman in white clothing fidgeting with the pole standing behind your bed. Several bags with fluids which had names you could impossible understand hung down from it, connected with small see through cables which ended in an infusion inside of your right hand. Perhaps you should be happy you hadn’t been awake when they’d punctured you to get that one in, since that might have been enough to make sure you would have collapsed.
“Oh, how lovely. You’re awake. How are you feeling darling?” The woman smiled down on you, her eyes friendly and caring. Yet her hands didn’t pause for a single second, blindly changing one bag of fluid for the next. Noticing your stare she pointed at the recent one. “I’m just giving you your antibiotics. The doctor will be with you soon. Why don’t you rest some more dear.” She patted your arm before exciting the room, probably off to the next patient in the room next to yours. The thought that you were in a building surrounded by people going through rough times made you shiver. Taking in your surroundings your mind spun back towards what she’d been saying. Why were they giving you antibiotics? Guild crackled inside of you, wondering if you’d pushed yourself too far, if you’d only worried the people around you even more while you’d been trying to act like everything was fine. Surely you had been more miserable than you had pretended to be, yet you’d never expected to end up in a hospital for it. Sighing deeply your eyes rested on the bump you’d missed on the other side of the room.
Right there, popped up on a small wooden chair, was your boyfriend. Eyes firmly closed, the back of his head pressed against the wall while his arms crossed over his chest, he looked as if he was having the most uncomfortable time sleeping ever. Yet, he’d managed it anyway. Staring at him you could tell that he’d been in a rush getting here from wherever he had been. He was still in his sweats, a casual black t-shirt and vest clinging his body. He looked as if he’d rushed straight out of practice to get to you. You sighed, thinking about how stupid you were. All of this could have been prevented if you’d just allowed the people around you to take care of you. But you’d been stubborn and you’d denied the fact that anything was wrong to begin with. You resisted the urge you felt to cough when you felt a tickle inside of the back of your throat. Yet, you could only fight it for so long before your lungs begged to let out the air you’d been holding. Bringing your hand in front of your mouth you coughed just as badly as you’d done before you’d blanked out earlier. When you were done you once again felt exhausted. It was as if your body was putting all its energy in trying to get rid of all the bad things inside of you.
“You should have told me you were this sick.” You flinched, and stared and Jungkook only to find him staring back at you, his position unchanged. His voice sounded like the one of a teacher scolding his student for not completing their homework. His eyes were drilling into you as he looked at you, until you felt like you had no choice but to look away. You knew exactly how he felt. It was the same way you always felt when he pushed himself too far, when he did more than his body was able to take. You felt terrible, knowing you’d made him feel the same way. “I didn’t know…” You croaked right before your voice left you, your words barely more than a whisper. Without saying anything he pushed himself up from his tiny chair, moving slowly, as if he had been sitting there for a very long time. Carefully he poured you a glass of water on the nightstand before sitting down on the edge of the bed. Clumsily you drank a few sips of the water, which helped little to soothed your throat but at least made you feel a bit better. The silence weighed down on the two of you as Jungkook slowly put the glass back on the nightstand.
“You have a pneumonia. You had a serious fever. It will take quite some time and antibiotics before you’ll be back on track.” He explained after a while, and the news caused your heart to weigh heavy inside of your chest. All that hard work, for nothing. “But, the Golden disk awards…” You started, but instantly stilled when you spotted Jungkook’s cold stare. It had been a while since you’d seen him this angry, since you’d seen him this out of line. Yet, he seemed to try his best not to snap at you when he spoke. “I don’t give a damn about that stupid show, and neither should you. This is serious ____________. You’re sick, really sick. You could have died from this.” Worry glistered inside of his eyes as he brushed his hand through his hair, tugging at the strands. Instantly your thoughts about the concert disappeared as you looked at him. You felt terrible for worrying him. Reaching out your hand you used it to hold onto his, making sure not to pull at the cable running down on your right arm.
“I’m sorry.” You muttered softly, waiting until he looked at you to squeeze his fingers inside of yours. He sighed, but nodded anyway before returning the pressure of your hand. Smiling softly at him you waited until the corners of his lips tugged upwards ever so slightly before patting the spot next to you. Realizing laying beside you was probably a much more comfortable position than he’d had on his wooden chair he carefully spread out beside you, his head propped up on his hand. “You shouldn’t scare me like that. Now it seems like I’m going to have to take care of you for the next few weeks.” He muttered, grabbing your free hand and bringing it towards his lips to peck it. Indeed, the fact that you would miss the concerts which still had to come sucked, just like that fact that you’d ruined everything that was perfect about your comeback. But at least you’d have more time to spend with your boyfriend these upcoming weeks, and what could be any better than that?

Felicity
Tv series (1998-2002)
Tumblr media
Spoilers...
I’ve gradually been watching Felicity for the past few months & have completed watching the series. I gotta say it’s charming & oddly addictive.
At the beginning of the series Felicity (Keri Russell) is an extremely shy & introverted character. She’s adorable. We see her proudly graduating high school but also feeling some trepidation about it. Naturally.
She sees her high school crush, Ben Covington, (Scott Speedman) at their high school graduation & decides to just go & talk to him. She regretted not getting to know him before. So she fixes that. Her yearbook had some sort of printing issue so they gave it to her on graduation day. So she asks Ben to sign her yearbook.
Tumblr media
Surprisingly he sits down & writes a very thoughtful message to her. It’s sweet & inspiring. She decides to follow him to New York & she gets into NYU.
In tv land one can get into school in just a couple months - ya know completely ignoring the hundreds of people waitlisted lol That made me chuckle when watching. No big deal though.
Felicity gets to school & realizes Ben was just a nice guy & wasn’t in love with her of course. So she gets a bit of a reality check.
Tumblr media
She makes a few friends & lives in the biggest dorm room on the history of planet Earth!
My room in my old dorm was ‘big’ and it had 3 feet of space between the beds...much bigger than my sister’s dorm lol
Felicity is likeable because she’s sweet, smart, shy & confused & just trying to figure her life out. All she knew is she didn’t want med school as her parents kept trying to shove it down her throat.
Tumblr media
Ben is a nice guy who struggles with feeling stupid sometimes (though is actually really smart). He struggled with some of his classes & lacks a clear path for his major.
Occasionally Ben has these lines & that message in the yearbook which made me stop & go ‘you’re a writer’. I kept thinking he was going to become a writer...then in season four he decides to be a doctor. Okay...it was an alright decision & I like his academic plot lines in season 4 so no real complaints there.
We meet Noel Crane (Scott Foley)who is super dreamy. He’s smart, nice, outspoken but sensitive. A straight laced student & Resident Advisor (RA) who becomes Felicity’s friend & has a crush on her.
Tumblr media
Throughout the series that’s the love triangle. It was interesting but there was far too much emphasis on it. Often it overshadowed the more interesting storylines on the show, IMO.
Noel pines for Felicity & loses sight of his life then soon graduates without a plan then later develops depression. I thought that was a great storyline. Noel’s family history of depression was compelling & how the character described it was very well done.
Back then tv shows didn’t talk about mental illness but this was handled delicately.
Noel gets help & gets better. He gets his life back on track, pursuing his dream of graphic design. There’s a line where he gets teased for liking computers...ya know as only ‘nerds’ like that stuff 😂
Felicity’s roommate Meghan Rotundi (Amanda Foreman) is a bit of a goth/Wicca practitioner. Every other character wear clothes I assume that are from The Gap so Meghan looks very different in her black mesh clothes & dark makeup. Nice contrast but I feel like Meghan’s development was overlooked for the most part of the series. She’s very blunt, unapologetic, sometimes mean...but she also cares for others even though she’ll deny it.
Tumblr media
In her romantic life there’s growth but not academically. It’s only in the end of the last season does she realize she wants to pursue psychiatry. I think there were some missed opportunities there.
Though I will say I like that her uptight parents accept her for her quirks & clothing choices.
Sean Blumberg (Greg Grunberg) ...I have mixed feelings about his character. He’s an ambitious inventor & sort-of businessman. He owns a loft where Ben sublets /shares with him. Sean’s nice, caring & excitable. He’s also several years older. Around 5 or 6yrs difference I think.
His age difference was brought up several times, as if it were supposed to be important. In my last year of school I lived with a woman who was 15 years older than me. So what? Not a big deal. I’m not sure why the show kept pointing it out.
The only issue with his age is that at one point he’s 27 and STILL has no steady job. None! He’s all-in with his inventions that make no money & his family isn’t rich so how does that work now? He has a loft in New York with zero income? One episode talked of him owing money but come on, get rid of the loft, downsize then get a job, even if part time. *sigh*.
At the start of the series I liked Sean but then they turned him into a pathetic leech who gets mad & throws tantrums easily. He became incredibly annoying.
When I was near the end of the series I started to think that Sean would actually make a good salesman. Imagine him trying to sell cars, just the right amount of pushy. Though they put an episode in that made him look like a buffoon when making a sales pitch. So I feel like the writers were confused or trying to sabotage his character because he still ends up leeching off his buddy Noel & they end up business partners. 🤷‍♀️
Sean & Meghan date & eventually marry. I thought they were cute together at first but not as long term. I feel like Meghan would murder him due to being sick of his shit.
Elena Tyler (Tangi Miller) becomes a good friend to Felicity. All the ladies care for each other a great deal. Elena is very intelligent & a hard worker. She had a few romances & nearly got married. But I’ll be honest I found her boring. Not sure why. I think the most interesting part of her character was that she chose not to marry her fiancé Tracy. I thought it was a very smart move. And I found her background with her mom interesting but they didn’t do much with that.
Tumblr media
Richard Coad starts out as an annoying member of the dorm. He & Noel become friends then later gets befriended by the group. Richard is a neurotic, blunt talking mess. He’s somehow still kinda adorable though does have some rough spots. I really liked him up through season 3. Season 4 he was in much less and then the writers turned him into a racist moron. Even if he had those thoughts I feel like his character would be more subtle & not as rude due to his overly developed sense of self preservation. Plus he’s not stupid, just blunt & a bit disconnected.
He did apologize but still it felt just so...wrong. Out of character even.
In any case I think the writers should have made him a little more like Rob Benedict, the actor who played him. Rob’s loveable.
Javier Quintata (Ian Gomez) is the owner at the coffee shop Dean & Deluca. He’s the boss but becomes very close with everyone, especially Felicity. I really liked him at first. Eventually his personal favours become outlandish & his stories started to make my eyes roll.
He & his devoted husband break up over non-issues. Why? It added nothing to the plot. Javier also wants to pursue acting at NYU. He’s really not good so it came off as a dumb idea & all scenes in acting class become annoying. I feel like the writers didn’t know what to do with him. I’d have preferred if he pursued a different dream- one that made sense. Like maybe all the years working with coffee & pastries inspires him to want to be a chef? 🤷‍♀️
Felicity. Throughout the series she’s shy, gradually getting more of a backbone. She admits to loving art & wants to pursue it. Her parents constantly pull her down , try to talk her out if it, even bully & manipulate her. She is for the most part uncompromising. I loved that! She held her ground & from a person like her, who always kept the peace at the expense of her own happiness, that’s amazing.
Tumblr media
We see her grow though she spends far too much time angst-ing over Ben & Noel. Often she seems tortured with very few moments of being free & having fun.
I loved how in season 4 she befriends fellow artist Owen. I feel like that was huge. I loved how they went to galleries together & talked about their art & life. It was refreshing. I love that Felicity’s honours art class was so important to her & everything around that plot.
I hated however, how she always put others first.
So...I have to mention Felicity’s haircut from Season 2. I didn’t find it that bad...but apparently Keri Russell got death threats from it. Complete insanity!
Though I do think as it was 1999 back then, people were more uptight with personal style. If she had dyed her hair pink instead people would have flipped out too.
I do think there were better hair styles to choose from though. I think if she had a cut her hair to chin length & straightened it it could look pretty & still have a big impact. Something like that.
But honestly it’s just hair. I had a horrible haircut one year in university but it grew out on a few months & was fine. No big deal....but I wasn’t on tv so no one cared I guess 🤷‍♀️
In the ‘series finale’ , Felicity abruptly chooses medicine. Why??? That uncompromising love for painting just gone....And back to medicine? I wanted her to be an artist!
Every artist has a day job to support them. Felicity was acting like she was going to starve because she couldn’t sell her paintings.
I wish they found her a day job she really liked to support herself. I wanted her to be all-in.
Or they could find her a middle ground. That internship at the architectural firm, she could have realized she wanted to be an architect or something. Something other than medicine.
I really like though that she chose herself finally. Then Ben follows her to school. That was perfect. I just wished she didn’t want to be a doctor. I feel like that goes against everything she wanted.
Overall a great series. I love how they approach mental health - Felicity’s too. She was getting therapy regularly. It was nice to see. Very healthy.
I like JJ Abrams’ work but I (like everyone else) question the last several episodes. Nonsensical & out of place.
Personally I think the show should have put less emphasis on the romantic relationships & drama & more on self discovery by all characters. That’s more interesting...then sprinkle in a few moments here and there. A few episodes on love etc each season. We didn’t need the constant longing looks & drama of Will they won’t they.
Tumblr media
I know I’m in a minority when it comes to such things but I feel the media - tv & movies especially focus WAY too much on the romance.
Then of course people like me who are borderline Asexual (except when it comes to fictional characters lol), I find it exhausting to always be bombarded with romance from all angles. However, if Felicity (and other shows) just used it occasionally & not every single episode I wouldn’t mind.
It’s just hard to care about a show if it just feels like it’s only about relationships and not much about life. But that’s just me.
The storylines that had me intensely interested in this show were:
- Ben’s relationship with his dad
- Ben gaining self confidence & realizing he’s actually smart
- Noel’s graphic designs & career
- Noel’s mental health
- Meghan’s rebellious nature & wanting to see what happens when she gets over the need to rebel (though we didn’t see much of it).
- Felicity’s parents’ attitude - I wanted them to see that they were wrong & admit it to her (though they don’t) 😞
- Wanting to see Richard find something he was really interested in & good at (which never happened)
- Wanting Felicity to have fun! Random silliness or parties...they rarely partied or did weird outings to things like paintball or bowling. College is for doing a million things. I wish tv land would do more if this
- Wanting Felicity to stop making decisions because of her love interests
- Wanting Felicity to go on a summer trip or internship to Europe on her own (never happened)
- Wanting Felicity to choose art (also didn’t happen) & support herself with either a job she simply likes (dog waking, tutoring, retail etc) or something in the art field (art therapy, illustrator etc)
To me these should have been the priorities & add romance occasionally...
But overall the series was good. The acting was really good from everyone. Even minor characters had pretty good actors. So well done!
The actors are great in other projects too. Keri Russell was in The Americans, even the Rise of Skywalker. Never saw them but I heard great things. Personally I really liked her in Austenland, August Rush, Mission Impossible 3 (small but great role), and I LOVED her in the movie Waitress.
Tumblr media
Definitely give the actors a watch in other projects, even if you have mixed feelings about them in Felicity. They’re all good.

What about 19 + 47 + 75 (for Staticquake) for the tropes mashup game!
19 = Summer Camp AU, 47 = Not a Date, 75 = Bed Sharing
Great minds think alike because I almost submitted this prompt minus the Not a Date. When I think of summer camp I imagine the counselors and kids in the woods with the cabins. My interpretation is probably a bit off, but I did my best. I now realize that this is LONG, but I needed to get the details before I could add the requests. I hope you like it, Lily!
Daisy woke up bright and early with a smile on her face. Today was the first day where she would be a counselor at her parents summer camp. Coulson and May started the Shield Summer Camp before they adopted Daisy. Every summer she would go there with them spending her time with the older kids. The camp accepted ages seven through thirteen for seven weeks of fun. Daisy decided to spend the summer before college working at the camp. She was dragging along her two best friends Jemma and Fitz. Daisy could hear her dad yelling from downstairs that they needed to leave. She really should have packed last night. This time it was her mom yelling for her to hurry up. She started frantically throwing clothes into her duffle bag. She ran down the stairs to see Jemma and Fitz waiting.
“Finally! Though we were never going to leave.” Jemma said once, seeing Daisy at the stairs. The three of them loaded up the car waiting for Coulson and May. They made sure the house was locked before taking off. Abandoning the city and heading for the woods. It was about a four, five-hour drive so they would arrive before noon. The staff came in yesterday to start setting up before the kids arrived tomorrow. Daisy had her headphones in the entire ride. Sitting in the backseat listening to Jemman and Fitz argue about science wasn’t what she was looking forward to.
“Okay kids, listen up!” Coulson yelled, grabbing their attention. Daisy started to argue that they weren’t kids anymore. That argument stopped once she saw the sign, indicating they were approaching the camp. They drove past the cabins and cafeteria to the staff cabins.
“How exciting! Aren’t you excited Fitz? We get to help lead the science program this year.” Jemma said, pulling her bag out of the trunk.
“Yes, yes very exciting.” He mumbled trying to pull his bag out. May pushed him aside, unloading the bag on top before tossing him on the floor.
“You three have ten minuted to get your stuff in the cabin. Then head over to the cafeteria so we can hand out the rest of the assignments.” May said as she and Coulson got back into the car. They had to drive to their cabin to park the car. Not wanting the three teens to take it out on a joy ride.
“Jemma you’re bunking with me, Elena, and Bobbi, she already grabbed a cabin. Fitz, Hunter, and Mack are in cabin twelve! See you at the cafeteria!” Daisy said hooking her arm around Jemma’s and dragging her away. The two ran to their cabin while Fitz had to walk down the road. Daisy opened the door, quickly claiming a bed before Jemma. Bobbi and Elena already unpacked since they came in yesterday. They exchanged hellos and started walking towards the cafeteria. They talked about Daisy and Jemma attending college. Elena was one year older than them. Bobbi was two years older than the two. Jemma was probably more excited than Daisy. Jemma and Fitz were going to the same school for technology and medicine. Daisy was staying local and going to the state college for computer science. The girls arrived before Mack, Hunter, and Fitz.
“I wonder who else got stuck with them.” Bobbi said leaning against one of the tables. Daisy started laughing, knowing Fitz and Hunter could get into some trouble. Jemma pointed out that they were walking over. They tried peeking to see who the other counselor was. Elena and Mack were already there, along with the rest of the staff.
“Daisy, didn’t your parents say who else was working?” Jemma asked, turning back to her. She shook her head and watched the door carefully.
“You can’t be serious.” She said under her breath seeing the infamous Lincoln Campbell walk through the doors. Daisy’s known Lincoln since they were kids. She didn’t exactly hate him, she despised him. With her luck, she had almost every class with him since elementary school.
“Okay, now that everyone is here. Let’s hand out some assignments! Fitz and Mack, you two are doing the engineering. Jemma and Lincoln volunteered to show the kids some science. Bobbi, May, and Hunter are doing the sports and physical activities. Elena, Daisy arts and crafts, but Daisy don’t forget you have a small group interested in computers.” Coulson continued to remind everyone of their assignments. Going through the schedule for room checks and night patrols. When Daisy was younger they would sneak out and start prank wars with other cabins. Kids still did it which is why they had to enforce the night schedule more.
“Daisy and Lincoln, you two have the first week of night checks.” Coulson quickly said before moving on. Daisy was in absolute shock that her dad put them together. She could hear Jemma and Bobbi laughing, knowing fully well that Lincoln and Daisy did NOT like each other. Coulson dismissed the group and told them to finish setting everything up for tomorrow.
“It will be okay Daisy. It’s just seven nights, checking the rooms and staying out two hours after curfew with Lincoln.” Bobbi said patting Daisy on the back. She walked over to May and Hunter, probably heading off to set up the archery targets. Jemma gave her a small speech that they were adults now and should put what happened when they were kids aside. Lincoln and Fitz walked over, Daisy wanted to slap that smile right off of Lincoln’s face.
“So I’ll see you tomorrow night? It’s a date?” Lincoln said teasingly, giving her that annoying smirk. Jemma quickly grabbed Fitz and left the building, not wanting to stick around.
“It’s not a date Lincoln, we have to do this.” God, he was already annoying her. You’d think after twelve years he’d take a hint.
“Sounds like a date!” He shouted as he turned to walk away. Daisy was so heated she couldn’t think of a witty comeback. Racking her brain for something to say before he was out of earshot.
“It’s not!” That was the best she could come up with. Letting out an aggravated sigh she made her way to help Elena. Which is what she should have been doing. Daisy's sour mood continued as she and Elena were cleaning up the crafts room. While Elena was counting the supplies Daisy was sweeping the floor. She may or may not have spilled glitter on it. There was a knock on the wall that drew both of their attention. Mack asked if he could steal Elena for a bit. Daisy didn't really care, she could finish inventory. She watched as they ran off, Fitz and Jemma were also with them. Part of Daisy was jealous that all her friends had stable relationships. Her past two didn’t end well. Breaking her own thoughts she went to finish taking inventory. Be real the glitter was not going to get off the floor.
Now it was later in the day, everyone was in the cafeteria eating dinner. Their source of amusement was Fitz and Jemma arguing over what they were going to teach the kids. Every one and a while Lincoln would enter the conversation, applying this knowledge on the subject. Daisy started talking with Lincoln's little sister who was attending the camp. Even though Daisy had a bad relationship with Lincoln, she enjoyed talking to his sister. Turns out Amanda had an interest in computers, which Daisy was very excited about. Halfway through their conversation, Daisy felt a kick against her shin. Looking across the table she knew it came from Lincoln. Two could play at that game. Continuing her conversation, Daisy proceeds to kick him back. One turned into two, then became a full out game of footies. This time when she went in for the attack, Lincoln moved his leg causing her to slam her knee into the table. Everyone turned to the two at the end on the table. Lincoln was trying to stifle a laugh, this caused Daisy to start laughing. This only made the rest of the group concerned. Daisy and Lincoln getting along? Not possible.
The next day went smoothly for everyone. Not much happened on the first day of camp. They were assigned bunks and then wandered around the camp, getting the lay of the land. Daisy was transporting a box filled with parts for Fitz and Mack’s class. She walked past the lake seeing some of the kids swimming back to the shore. She balanced the box in one hand, taking her phone out to look at the time. Daisy let out a groan, she had to do night duty with Lincoln.
“Fitz, what is in this box?” Once Daisy got to the cabin she was quick to put that heavy box down. Fitz started looking through it, making sure everything was there and not broken.
“Some supplies, we are having the kids build robots. So, night duty with Lincoln?” All she could do was glare at him. The last thing she wanted to do or talk about was having to spend two hours with Lincoln for the next week.
“Please Fitz don’t remind me. I can’t stand him, for instance, this morning he switched the salt and sugar. I ended up putting salt in my coffee.” Daisy thought they finally outgrew the prank wars. They would start harmless until they started accidentally pulling others in. One time Lincoln set up a water bucket over the girls’ cabin with the intention of getting Daisy. Instead, Bobbi was the one out the door first and ended up with a cold morning shower. Coulson and may once had to pull them aside, that was the most awkward conversation. Looking at the clock she had to meet Lincoln in the courtyard to start the first rounds. Curfew was at nine because the sun had gone down.
“Finally, you’re twenty minutes late.” Daisy wasn’t surprised at Lincoln's comment on her being late. Besides she made sure he knew she was only three minutes late. Daisy just wanted to get this over with. There were forty-two cabins, each with five or six kids. They had to spend the next two hours checking each cabin and walking around making sure kids weren’t sneaking out. They started with the seven-year-old cabin. Daisy would poke her head into the girls’ cabins telling them lights out if they weren’t already. Lincoln would go into the boys’ cabins doing the same thing. The next set of cabins they went to Daisy turned around to see Lincoln was gone. The light in the boys cabin was out so maybe he went ahead? She started walking to the next set of cabins. While walking she heard a creaking sound coming from the trees. Turning her flashlight to the trees she fully expected to see a kid sneaking out. Nothing was there and she chalked it up to a bird or small animal. She turned back to the trail, but before she could take a step forward a figure popped out of the bushes. Daisy let out a short scream before a hand was clapped over her mouth. She shoved Lincoln off of her flashing the light in his eyes.
“Are you crazy! You scared the shit out of me!” She screamed in a hushed voice. He was hunched over laughing at her frightened state. Rolling her eyes she started for the next set of cabins with him hot on her trails. He kept saying how he didn’t think she would get scared. He was preaching to the choir, Daisy could care less. Halfway through the checks, Daisy was regretting not bringing a jacket.
“Hey, are you okay? You’re shaking, if this is because I scared you I really didn’t mean any harm.” Lincoln seemed genuinely concerned and that was something Daisy had never gotten. They had the same friend group and saw each other every day at school, but they didn’t participate in friendly conversation. Daisy was a little take back by this, quickly brushing it off. She said she was fine and they kept walking. The later it got, the colder it was supposed to be summer for God sake! She wasn’t paying attention and tripped over her own feet. Lincoln grabbed her arm before she could hit the ground.
“Daisy you’re freezing!” Once she was upright he quickly pulled his hand away from her. Insisting she was fine, they continued walking. He couldn’t help but notice how she was still shaking. Protesting again on how she was obviously cold, she snapped back at him that she was, again, FINE.
“You say you’re fine, but you’re obviously cold!”
“Why are we even having this conversation? Why do you care?”
“You know what? I don’t! Go fucking freeze then, I don’t care!” Lincoln threw his arms up in defeat, stomping away from Daisy and to the next cabin. She shivered her way to her cabin seeing the light was off. She used her flash to glance into the window seeing the girls asleep. She was determined to go ahead of Lincoln so she could avoid talking to him. Daisy could hear his footsteps running up behind her. What she wasn’t prepared for was the feeling of a heavy and very, very warm jacket being placed on her shoulders. Immediately she wrapped the jacket further around herself, taking in the warmth. She looked over at Lincoln to see he had given her his jacket. Lincoln had no intention of arguing over the jacket. Daisy wasn’t going to say anything about it either. He still had a long sleeve shirt, while she had a tee-shirt on. Just seven more cabins then Daisy could go back to her warm bed.
The next day Daisy and Elena were cleaning up the mess the kids left in the crafts room. Daisy slept in missing breakfast, so she was very excited for lunch. The two made their way to the cafeteria, seeing Jemma and Hunter walking over as well. The pairs met up and started chatting about the first official day of camp.
“Daisy? Where did you get that jacket?” Hunter was the one to change the subject, eyeing the jacket. Trying to keep her composure, now remembering that is was Lincolns jacket. She never gave it back to him the night before and she wasn’t going to admit she kinda loved the jacket. They parted ways once it was eleven, both tired and annoyed with the other.
“Just a jacket from Goodwill.” Was her response, which wasn’t good enough for Hunter. He continued to provide, hinting that he definitely knew who was the owner of the jacket. Bobbis perfect time saved Daisy from the interrogation. The cafeteria was loud and crowded with the kids. During the conversations at the Lincoln asked if anyone wanted to go with him and some of the older kids onto the lake. Several no’s could be heard in the group. Each had an explanation as to why, but he had to point out Daisy’s.
“I’m teaching a computer class after lunch.” Was her answer to why she wasn’t going to the lake. Lincoln only rolled his eyes, there were nine kids in the class, which was small. Daisy caught the eye roll, which started another squabble between them. Ending with both of them leaving the table angry with the other. One the way out she made sure to throw the jacket straight at his head.
This time she brought her own jacket, it wasn’t as nice as his, but she was not going to admit that. They went through the cabins a lot quicker than last time. While they wanted to go back to their cabins, they had to stay until eleven. Once Daisy did get back to the cabin she saw Jemma, Bobbi and Elena were still up. They didn’t even ask about it, but Daisy spent almost two hours ranting about Lincoln.
The following morning the boy and girls, minus Daisy and Lincoln, met up. They knew the two were probably going to sleep in again. It was the perfect time to hatch a plan.
“I’m tired of hearing about Daisy at one in the morning. Although I did like knowing I was right about her having his jacket.” The minute Hunter said, everyone knew what had to go down. No matter what, Daisy and Lincoln HAD to become friends, or more, by the end of the week. For the sole purpose of they couldn’t hear them complain about the other anymore. Jemma would ask Daisy to drop things off at the cabin she worked in. Fitz would ask Lincoln to see if Jemma was there on his way to the lake. They tried locking them in the room, but Daisy had a master key. That’s how they dragged Amanda into the plan. They were shocked when she was all for it.
That night Amanda snuck out of her cabin. Daisy and Lincoln caught her quick and dragged her back to her cabin. She could see Lincoln was disappointed, but it would be worth it if this worked. During her apology she started to cry, causing Daisy to give her a hug. That was her opportunity to get Daisy’s keys. Jemma and Fitz convinced the two that it would get hot tonight for some scientific reason that Daisy and Lincoln didn’t understand. Now they were both cold and wandering around in the dark. Mack changed the batteries in the flashlights, they died quickly. Hunter and Bobbi knew there was a counselor cabin close to the kids’ cabins that wasn’t used unless kids were sick. They knew the heater worked and there was a bed inside. Hunter turned on the power and Bobbi had Elena stand in the cabin until the two noticed. She was quick to get out of there without them noticing. They walked in confused, the power was on and Lincoln swore he saw someone in there.
“Maybe it got left on by accident, it stores medical supplies. Someone probably scrapped their knee or something.” Daisy walked back over to the door only to find it wouldn’t open.
“Lincoln, the door is stuck.” She said trying to push the door open.
“What do you mean the door is stuck?” He asked walking over and trying to get the door open. What does he think she meant? Luckily she had her keys with her. Reaching in her pocket she realized there were no keys.
“I must have dropped them or something.” She said, both of them coming to the conclusion that they were stuck in the cabin.
“At least the heater is working.” He said sitting on the bed. The power going out was completely out of everyone hands. The group didn’t even know the power went out because once Daisy and Lincoln were locked in, they went to bed.
“Had to jinx us, didn’t you? It’s bad enough we’re stuck here, but did I have to be stuck here with you?” Daisy sat down on the other side of the bed, back facing him.
“Okay, camp princess at least I didn’t lose my keys.” Daisy turned around ready with a comeback. Why was he laying down? The question of what are you doing left her mouth. Getting comfortable, they were probably going to be locked in there till morning.
“Could you get up, I want to be warm under the covers.” He said pulling on the blanket. Daisy wanted to protest, but the little heat that was in the room was fading. Lincoln and Daisy were tucked under the covers. There was an unspoken agreement to stay on their side and don’t hog the blanket.
“Why are you breathing so hard?” Lincoln turned his head over, glaring at Daisy’s comment.
“Why are you so annoying?” She sat up, dragging the blanket up with her.
“You are the most stuck up, aggravating, know it all, who has ever walked this Earth!” She shouted at him. He stared at her not moving or saying anything. Daisy got up forgetting that the door was locked and she couldn’t walk away from him.
“The past twelve years you have pushed my buttons. The pranks and the teasing it’s just so annoying! Yet, you have the audacity to say I’m annoying?” Lincoln has never, ever seen Daisy lose her shit. She was overall a very calm person.
“I didn’t- didn’t realize it bothered you that much. You always play it back. Didn’t think there was a problem and if there was why didn’t you say anything?” That was a good question. Why hadn’t she said anything? Was it because she genuinely enjoyed the fun banter between them. How even why they were angry, they were laughing at each other. She went back sitting on the bed, pulling over covers over her lap.
“I’m envious of you. You have your amazing sister and your parents. I love May and Coulson, but they’re not my birth parents. My birth parent didn’t want me and everyone I love will leave eventually.” Part of Daisy felt silly for saying that. She was deflecting her feelings because she still felt like everyone leaves her eventually.
“One, that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Your friends, May and Coulson, they’re never going to leave you. Two, I’m envious of you. You have it all figured out, the college you want to go to, what you’re going to do after. You even get this really cool summer camp.” He said making her laugh. That was the first real conversation they’ve had and it was long overdue. They ended up reminiscing stories of them not getting along.
“No, remember eighth-grade graduation. You tripped me when I was walking back to my seat.” How could Lincoln forget? She slapped him with her award.
“This ones better, we were in high school doing a lab project. We weren’t paying attention and mixed the wrong chemicals.”
“We had to stay and clean up the mess. That was horrible!” She finished for him. After moments of laughter, there was complete silence. It wasn’t awkward, it was nice. Like they were content in each others company.
“I think I know my favorite memory.” Daisy said rolling on her side to look at him. He faced her, raising an eyebrow. Giving her the silent question of which moment.
“This one because losing my keys and this cabin being on, was the best thing that could happen.” She said smiling and Lincoln couldn’t agree more.
“This whole situation made one this very clear.”
“That our rivalry was really us being horrible flirts?” Daisy was worried that ruined the moment, but Lincoln confirmed her sudden revelation. This entire time they really, really like each other. They just let the other get to them so easily that the rivalry out weight the flirting. They much of fallen asleep at some point because they were forced awake by the sun. It did get colder in the night and when the heat finally went away, they ended up cuddling for warmth. The only issue was they were still stuck in the cabin. There was a knock on the window that drew their attention away from the door. Amanda was standing there holding Daisy’s keys. She unlocked the door to show their friends standing there with wide smiles.
“You people are evil! Do you know how cold it got in there!” Daisy screeched at the group.
“You could have at least left the power on.” Lincoln said crossing his arms. Everyone looked at Hunter because he was the one that turned on that cabins circuit.
“She was wearing his sweater! You all really thought locking them in a room was going to make them friends? No, you have to take it one step further. Besides, was I the only one who realized they were flirting?”

A Love Worth Waiting For
Stefan x Reader
4 I don’t love you anymore
16 I never meant to hurt you @ thepeomsofalonelygirl
16 and four maybe do one where Damon or Stefan break up with there ex cause they are in love with y/n and the ex tries to hurt y/n and they have to defend them
Stefan rubbed his face with his hands. He wasn’t looking forward to this conversation. He and Amanda has been dating for a while. She had been the first girl he really felt something for after he and Elena had broken up for good. Now he knew he rushed into the relationship.
Y/N had become his best friend. She stood by him through everything. When Klaus forced him to turn off his humanity. She helped bring him out of it. She had been there after he had gotten out of the safe Silas locked him in, through his memory loss and PTSD. She had glued him back together. It had taken him so long to realize how in love he was with her. He didn’t want to waste any more time not being with her. And it wasn’t fair to Amanda to stay with her if he wasn’t all in. Even if Y/N shot him down, he could not stay with someone he couldn’t give all of himself to. Stefan has been agonizing for days on how to breakup with Amanda. As a human, she had a quick temper. As a Vampire, she could become volatile. He was afraid she’d go on a nasty bender. He didn’t really want to have to lock his ex in the basement.
“Yo Stef, Amanda is downstairs.” Damon’s head popped in his doorway. Stefan took a deep breath trying to calm himself. Damon chuckled as Stefan crossed his path and clapped him on the back of the shoulder. Stefan shot him a withering glare as he headed down to talk to Amanda.
This break up had turned into a nightmare, not that Stefan expected it to be fun, but this was ridiculous. Amanda was hysterical.
“I never meant to hurt you Amanda. I just rushed into this relationship. It’s not a good fit, not like I thought it was.”
“But I love you and I thought that you loved me!” Her sobbing was starting to turn to anger.
“I’m sorry...I don’t love you anymore. I honestly don’t know if I ever did.” Amanda stood up and slapped Stefan in the face.
“So you used me to get over your Elena bullshit?! There is someone else isn’t there? Who is it?That disgustingly good witch Y/N? I didn’t think you could get worse than Elena but here we are.”
“There is NOT anyone else. It’s this, all of this. How you fly off the handle when you don’t get your own way. The way you use innocent people. Your disregard for the people I care about! I didn’t use you; you hid the real you and slowly let it out.” Amanda was livid as she stormed out of the boarding house. Stefan sat on the couch with his head in his hands.
“Well that sounded fun.” Damon strolled down the stairs as soon as the door shut.
“Shut up Damon.” Stefan groaned.
“I mean she made a good point about Y/N. You do look at her with heart eyes.”
“SHUT UP Damon.” Damon held his hands up in surrender.
“Okay brother. But expect an I told you so when you figure it out” Damon wore his signature smirk as he sauntered up the stairs.
You were exhausted. You had spent the day trying some new spells. Elijah had taken some photos of spells from Esther’s grimoire that he thought you would like to have in your arsenal. Despite his blind devotion to Klaus, he had been a good friend to you. He was a great sounding board and you still consulted him for advice when you needed to talk to someone. He would take your secrets to his unlikely grave.
Your continuing dilemma was your feelings for Stefan. You’d had them for a while, but he had been untouchable. First because he was in love with Elena. Then because life exploded and he had been locked away by Silas. His heart and mind needed mending. You were terrified of loosing your best friend on top of everything. There had always been a crisis that stopped you from confessing. When you had finally gathered the courage to tell him, you had found him with Amanda. Now here you were trying to figure out how to move on and get over your feelings for him without loosing your friendship. Elijah thought you should tell him anyways. You couldn’t talk to anyone else about it. They would tell him. You had tried dating other guys. Your most recent attempts were a couple of hookups with a guy you met at the grill. Someone who didn’t know you or your friends so it was easy. The best thing to distract you, however, were complicated spells and Elijah had a plethora of them at his fingertips. The practice wore you out and weakened you, which allowed you to sleep. The euphoria after mastering them was the best high you knew. Today you had over done it. You were currently cleaning up the dried blood that had dripped from your nose onto the hardwood floor. Stefan hated when you pushed yourself this hard. It was better to have someone with you when you went this hard, but today, you needed for it to be just you. After you cleaned up you took the print outs of the spells and put them in the safe you had in the back of your closet. In the wrong hands, those spells could do some real damage to innocent people.
You took a deep breath and went into your bathroom to fill up your claw foot tub with water as hot as you could stand it and poured in some of the fancy bath salts Caroline had gotten you for your birthday. You turned off the hot water and placed a folded towel on the counter. Your feet padded against the hardwood floor of your apartment. Like Elena, you were an orphan. Your mother had died when you were a little girl. You were so young you barely remembered her. The one thing you couldn’t ever forget was the sweet smell of her perfume. Your father had died the summer Stefan had been locked in the safe. You had felt completely alone and you were so consumed by your grief you didn’t realize he was missing. Once he came back and his memories returned after being linked to Silas the two of you helped each other. You both were broken and you put eachother’s pieces back together. You had thought at that point something would happen between the two of you, but then he met Amanda. Here you were again, all alone. You pulled a bottle of Riesling out of your fridge. As you grabbed your corkscrew you heard a noise behind you. You slowly turned and were surprised to see Amanda staring at you clad in a pair of panties and a tank top.
“Amanda. What...what are you doing here?” Y/E/C eyes were wide with concern. The two of you weren’t friends. You were pretty sure she hated you and your friendship with Stefan. You weren’t particularly fond of her and the dramashe came with so you kept your distance.
“You know...I was always suspicious of you and your obsession with Stefan” you held your hand up to stop her.
“I’m not obsessed with Stefan. He’s my best friend. We’ve been through a lot.”
“Don’t interrupt, it’s rude.” The veins around Amanda’s eyes had darkened. You swallowed. Now was not the time for you to have a confrontation with her. You wouldn’t be able to do any spells to stop her. You had almost lost consciousness earlier.
“Where was I? Oh yes, your unhealthy attachment to Stefan.” She took a step towards you and unfortunately you had no place to go. “I didn’t realize how dangerous it was. I figured if you and Stefan hadn’t gotten together by now I was in the clear. But how wrong I was.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Stefan broke up with me. Apparently he stopped loving me. Or maybe he never really did. I can’t help but feel it’s because of you. Now, once I remove you from the picture and Stefan gets over his grief, I’ll win him back. Just for good measure I may take Elena out as well. Just in case she changes her mind again.” Amanda tried to lunge at you but you’re able to gather the strength to cast a spell to stop her. You’re fighting to hold her off but you feel yourself weakening and the blood dripping from your nose. You know that you’ll soon be unconscious and won’t be able to defend yourself. You’ll be dead and you won’t get to say goodbye to the people you love. You won’t get to tell Stefan how you feel. You won’t get to live a full life. You’ll be dead. You drop your hands and slowly fall to the floor.
Your eyelids feel like they’re lined with lead and you can only hear chaos. You can’t make out any distinct noises, everything is jumbled other than the slight ringing in your ears. You slowly fight to open your eyes and you know you’re in the Salvatore boarding house by the decor of the room. It’s either barely morning or barely night by the look of the natural light flooding the room. You lay there confused for a moment and then your memory comes back. Amanda. Certainly she didn’t spare you. Was this your heaven? Your afterlife? You try to sit up and groan. Your head is throbbing. Were you alive? If you were dead there would be no pain. Certainly Amanda didn’t spare you.
“Oh thank God you’re awake.” Damon’s voice was loud. He watched you grimace. “Yeah I’m not surprised that you have a headache.”
“Damon...what happened?” He sauntered over and sat on the edge of the bed. “Well Sugar Plum. Stefan finally broke up with Amanda. She apparently blamed you. She attacked you after you passed out. LuckilyStefan and I decided to check on you. Amanda is dead. I ripped her head off. Stefan is pissed at you though.” You took a moment to absorb what Damon had told you. “Wait- why is he mad at me?!” “Because you spent so much energy practicing Mama Klaus’ spells. You weakened yourself. If you hadn’t she would’ve been no match for you.” “I was in my own house by myself. I shouldn’t have to worry about some crazy bitch was going to try and eat me.” Before Damon could respond Stefan walked back into the room. Seeing that you were conscious he rushed to your side.
“Y/N...you’re awake. You’re okay. What were you thinking trying all of those spells on your own?!” You rolled your eyes.
“I’m going to just see myself out..” Damon quickly  fled before the two of you got into it.
“Stefan. I can do any spell I want to do. Practice anything I want to do without your permission. I was in my own house. I was going to take a bath and go to bed. I would have been FINE if that psycho hadn’t broken into my house” you huffed.
“Elijah said you were practicing complex spells to distract yourself but he wouldn’t tell me from what.”
“Because it’s not his business to tell you. If I wanted you to know I would have told you myself.” Your words visibly stung him. You were going to kill Elijah. This was his way of trying to push you to tell Stefan.
“Y/N...I...I’m so...I’m sorry Amanda did that to you. She took her anger at me out on you or she was trying to hurt me by hurting you.”
“No. Stefan, no. She blamed me for your break up and decided that she could win you back if I was gone.”
“I never told her I was breaking up with her for you.”
“She said I was obsessed with you. If anything I’ve pulled away since the two of you started dating.”
“I know. Why is that Y/N?” You swallowed.
“Because you loved her and she hated me.”
“I didn’t love her. I made myself think I did, but I didn’t. You should have known that. You would have if you hadn’t pulled back.”
“Sooooo it’s MY fault you stayed with her?”
“What?! No! That’s not what I meant.” Stefan watched you pinch the bridge of your nose. “Why are things so difficult between us? What changed?” You sighed deeply.
“I changed.” You confessed. Clearly things were already ruined. There was no reason to hold back anymore.
“What does that mean, you changed?” Stefan had taken your hand.
“My feelings. My feelings for you changed. I starting feeling more than friendship for you but you were with Elena and then you weren’t but I didn’t want to be a rebound. And then Amanda came along and I’m not the type to break up a relationship. So I pulled back because it hurt too much not to. I’m in love with you. And I know that changes everything and I don’t even know if we can still be friends-“ before you could finish your ramble you felt Stefan’s lips against yours and his hands roaming your torso. When he finally pulled away he rested his forehead against yours.
“I never should have been with Amanda. It’s you. It’s always been you. I’m so in love with you. I think I always have been. Even with Elena I knew I should have been with you. I’m sorry it took me so long to realize it. And I’m sorry that it got you hurt.” You could feel the tears in yours eyes as you cupped his face and kissed him again. You knew in that moment everything would work out.

A Giant Masterlist of Alternative/Age-Appropriate FCs for TVD/TO Characters
So, I’m finally making this into a huge masterlist, because I do feel like this is something that could be taken more seriously than it is. There has been an epidemic in Hollywood for a long, long time of teenage characters being played by adults. I mean, look at the epitome of a teen movie: Grease. At the time the film was being made, the average age of the cast was about thirty, and they looked it.
Logistically, this makes sense on a film set. Casting adults means that you don’t have the punctuated work day you have to have with minors, and there are fewer caveats for what the actors can do. From a logistic standpoint, a financial standpoint, and a liability standpoint, I get it. I do.
But the nice thing about RPing is that we can change the FCs of the muses we are working with to be more appropriate. You see this all the time with muns choosing to bring in more diversity to roles, or just “not feeling” certain actors. This masterlist is if you as a mun want to make your muse more age-appropriate.
Most of these actors and actresses recommended are still over the age of 18, but are still far closer in age than the original actor who portrayed the character.
I have bolded the age of characters who started as minors or who are eternally, physically, minors. Please keep these characters in mind when portraying them, choosing to write more adult themes, and any other decisions you may make about these characters.
If I have missed a character on here and you would like to hear suggestions for them, or if you want to add to the list of suggestions, please let me know!
*** Also, some FCs are listed as being appropriate recasts for multiple muses. Since this is RP we’re talking about, and not the logistics of “the same actor can’t be different characters in an actual project,” this is possible.
******* I don’t have the time or the wherewithal to dig up dirt on every single actor and actress. This list is looking solely at age, and honestly, I don’t know every “scandal” there is. If you see an actor or actress on here who you do not like, please disregard the suggestion. *******
*********** If you see someone who you think could be more appropriate for another character, go for it! These are all actors who are either still very young, or who have extensive young resources. ************

im trying to find inspiration for covers ks there anyone on wattpad who’s graphics that you like?? thanks 💗
ooooh good question!!
normally i look at graphics on pinterest and on here for inspiration, but make sure you don’t take too much inspiration bc that’s copying sir
but, for people on wattpad with v good covers that i love v v v much:
amanda aka @freakingbradleys on here is the literal og QUEEN of covers like hers are so so so good!! like back when i was a baby on wattpad and was writing teen wolf fanfiction i looked up to the carson covers soooo much
mickey aka @aaudace!! i’ve made a couple of mickey’s in the past but GOD mickey makes some of the cutest graphics, like before she’s also done this really stellar ones for playlists and ugh i love them
joey aka @cptainsrogers has the BEST manip covers in the whole world, and honestly even tho her cover style is so different to mine it’s so pretty and so detailed
elena aka @httpscoot is like joey, like her covers are a lot different to my style but they’re still so pretty and tbh it sounds weird but i really like… the variety?? like i’m not the biggest fan of covers that match when the fics aren’t from the series, and idk i love it when covers are very very different but special and pretty in their own way
and thennnn there’s some people i don’t really speak to but like… lowkey their covers are SO pretty so:
bubbIesgum on wattpad (idk if you have a tumblr sorry!!) has some of the most unique covers out there?? like the cover for her fic teen spirit is lowkey iconic and again,,, i really love it when covers match their specific fic’s specific aesthetic and vibe
lilli aka @grgweasleys has such aesthetically pleasing covers they are SO gorgeous, and also her graphics on her tumblr are SO pretty and like,,, you will love them they’re so so good. as well her covers are quite simple but they’re still really effective which is something that’s really difficult to do?? like the cover for her fic rich girl is killer??
i think that’s everyone? obviously there are so so many more people on wattpad that make amazing covers but these are some of the people that came to my mind :-)
ask me questions!

Books read in 2018
Total amount of books read: 39.
Min fantastiska väninna (original titel: L'amica geniale) - Elena Ferrante
Mr. Darcy’s Diary - Amanda Grange
Eligible - Curtis Sittenfeld
Alex, approximately - Jenn Bennett
Call me by your name - André Aciman
Such a beautiful beautiful book. I didn’t know I would come to like it as much as I do. I found myself in the middle of the book, wondering how it all had started, completely consumed by the story. Reading it made me nostalgic, as if thinking back at fond memories of my youth.
Rosemary's Baby - Ira Levin
The Sudden Appearance of Hope - Claire North
The Hating Game - Sally Thorne
This book marks the beginning of my exploration into chic-lit and romance literature. Having reread this book several times this year has made me understand that there is more to the genre than I first thought.
Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell
Love, Simon - Becky Albertalli
Inte för nära (original titel: Close enough to Touch) - Colleen Oakley
After a couple of pages into the book, I knew I would come to love it, and from then on I was completely consumed by it. Following the protagonist struggles and needs in life made her very relatable and kept me wanting to know more about her. And you couldn’t imagine a better ending.
Mitt inte så perfekta liv (original titel: My not so Perfect Life) - Sophie Kinsella
A Secret Garden - Katie Fforde
Torka aldrig tårar utan handskar (eng. titel: Don't ever Whipe Tears without Gloves) 1. Kärleken - Jonas Gardell
Citizen Girl - Nicola Kraus & Emma McLaughlin
Attachments - Rainbow Rowell
This book grew on me the more I read it. At first I really didn't like the protagonist, him being very passive. But as the story progressed and him getting out if his shell, I became very fond of the story and it's characters.
The Kiss Quotient - Helen Hoang
Everything, everything - Nicola Yoon
Torka aldrig tårar utan handskar (eng. titel: Don't ever Whipe Tears without Gloves) 2. Sjukdomen - Jonas Gardell
First & Then - Emma Mills
Fantastic Beasts and where to find them - J.K. Rowling
Torka aldrig tårar utan handskar (eng. titel: Don't ever Whipe Tears without Gloves) 3. Döden - Jonas Gardell
Störst av allt (eng. titel: Quicksand) - Malin Persson Giolito
The little prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Ready player one - Ernest Cline
I enjoyed this book from start to finish and kept wondering why I so rarely pick up more action driven books. The combination of sci-fi and the unapologetic level of nerdiness made the book both honest and true.
Armada - Ernest Cline
Josh and Hazel's guide to not dating - Christina Lauren
Turtles all the way down - John Green
Love and other words - Christina Lauren
This must be my favorite book by Christina Lauren so far. The feeling of the book remainded me of David Nicholls One day, making it into an instant classic. Definitely a reread.
Och varje morgon blir vägen längre och längre (eng titel: And every morning the road home gets longer and longer) - Fredrik Backman
Me before you - Jojo Moyes
After you - Jojo Moyes
Still me - Jojo Moyes
Bränn alla mina brev (eng. titel: Burn all my letters) - Alex Schulman
As Alex Schulman is one of my favorite authors, this was an obvious read this year, and he didn't disappoint. The language is beautiful yet simple, making it an very intimate read. My favorite by Schulman so far.
Roomies - Christina Lauren
My favorite half-night stand - Christina Lauren
The Accidental Beauty Queen - Teri Wilson
Always the Bridesmaid - Lindsey Kelk
Accidental Tryst - Natasha Boyd
