Between R2-D2, Chopper, and BD-1, which droid do the padawans love?
artoo and chopper have absolutely electrocuted most the padawans at least once, so adorable baby BD is winning <3

Comfortember Day 1 - Safe
A sorry figure stands in the galley. Cal is wrapped in his blanket and the rest of his bedsheets too, rubbing his barely open eyes, looking like a (lanky) lost boy. BD is not with him, so there’s a very good chance he’s sleepwalking. Cere looks at him, heart tugging. He’s working so hard on this quest she put him on (sure he made the choice to do it, but a little nagging voice at the back of her head asks if he really believed he ever had a choice), but by the Force he is so damn young.
Grateful Greez turned in early for the night, Cere quietly gets to her feet and joins Cal in the galley. She calls his name softly.
He doesn’t respond. Instead, he’s digging through the galley cupboards, frowning heavily and mumbling to himself. Cere really has to tune into pick up what he’s saying.
“Prauf needs it. I gotta get it.”
Prauf. Someone of great importance to Cal who he definitely lost.
Lost to Trilla.
Cere’s heart shudders. She’s got to wake Cal up. Carefully. His Force connection is a long way from healed, but that doesn’t mean he can’t do real damage if she’s not gentle. She takes his hands away from the cupboards. “Come on,” she says. “Back to bed.”
“No, Prauf needs it!”
He’s upset and getting agitated. One hand on his back, Cere rubs gently while carefully ushering him towards the engine room. “I’ll make sure he gets it.”
“I can’t find him.”
So, Cal really has opted to break her heart tonight. Excellent. Cere steers him back to bed, arranging his disrupted bedding as best she can. “Prauf’s safe, Cal. He’s safe.” The lies taste like acid on her tongue.
“Oh, okay.” Cal somehow manages to roll himself up in all his blankets and sheets. His muffled voice emerges once more. “But make sure you give him the Corellian whiskey, not Tabbers’ moonshine. That stuff tastes like shit.”
Cere has no idea who this ‘Tabbers’ character is, and she can barely keep from laughing at Cal’s dramatic proclamation (also, moonshine? From Bracca? It’s a miracle he’s still alive). She’s almost dizzy with relief though. Dreams about missing booze are far better than many of Cal’s alternatives. “Don’t worry,” she tells him. “The whiskey’s all his.”
The only answer she gets is Cal’s deep, steady breathing.

Star Wars OC (Q and A)
1.) Characters name meaning (every character in star wars has a name meaning which always fits their character-Darth Vader means; dark father) what is your OC's name meaning?
2.) Which planet was your oc born on? Why did you chose that planet (if there is a special meaning behind it)? Did your oc like their homeworld or did they move to another planet?
3.) What is their favorite type of star wars ship? (Luke had his X-Wing and Han had the Falcon.) Did they win this ship in a game, build the ship, or was it personally made for them (like Luke did in Legends for Mara Jade)? Would they rather ride on a different ship?
4.) What is your OC's favorite way to wear their hair? Rather their hair style is from their planet traditions (much like Leia's) or is styled the way they want it to be?
5.) What is your OC's droid of choice? Do they even have a droid that belonged in their family (like Luke)? Did they build a droid for a current reason or wish to build a droid from parts they collected over time? (like Anakin did for C-3PO)? Did they meet a droid on a back drop planet (like Cal did with BD-1)? Or did they reprogram it (much like Cassian and K-2SO)? How does your oc feel about caring for their droids; do they give them an oil bath, fix their parts, keep them up to date, or do they let them rust away?
6.) What is your Oc's weapon of choice when it comes to blasters, lightsabers, and other weapons within the galaxy? Have they ever lost their own weapon? How do they adopt to fights without their weapon?
7.) What would your OC's lightsaber color be? (Rather it be purple for the light and dark side of the force, a green lightsaber to show they are more of a talker than a fighter, blue to show they are reasonable and will fight when they need to be, yellow for those that do not seek glory, or red to handle their own want and ways. Basically their force style is what this question means)
8.) What is your Oc's favorite food within the galaxy? Do they have a favorite drink to do along with it? Do they have a special place or to eat at?
9.) What is your oc's dream job within the galaxy? Rather it be a smuggler, Jedi, bounty hunter, or other jobs-what would they like to do the most within the galaxy? Do they have to travel across the stars a lot? Do things they don't want to do just to survive?
10.) What is your OC's favorite star wars animal (rather it be a porg, loth-cat, or another creature? Where did you oc met the animal? Did they original want a pet or did it just happen? Do the animal do anything funny or silly at times to get attention?
11.) What is your Oc's goal within the larger world of the galaxy? Do they want to find something out within the galaxy? Do they want adventure? Or do they just want to belong?
12.) What is your oc's favorite item they hold onto (Han had his golden dice)? Who gave it to them and how important is the item? Would they let the item ever be parted from them? What would they do if it was stolen? Would they give the item to someone else for a time being?
13.) What time period would your Oc want to be born into when it comes to the star wars universe? (the New Republic, the old Republic, star wars legends, star wars ep 1-3, star wars ep 4-6, star wars ep 7-9, Andor, Mandalorian era?) Why would they chose that era? Who would they like to met? What adventure would they love to go on?
14.) What if your oc was given the chance to travel within the World between worlds and they were given a chance to change one thing about their life; what would it be? How would this change them as a character? Would it have changed their path in life?
15.) What is your oc's favorite star wars saying? (rather it be wizard, by the force, may the force be with you or another saying), How many times do they say it a day? Who do they say it too? How did they learn it? Do people get annoyed with them saying it all the time?
16.) What does your oc like about the galaxy? What does your oc dislike about the galaxy? How would they like to change the galaxy (rather it be for better or for the worst)?

I'm on yet another hyperfixation, woohoo! Jedi Fallen Order is so good, love this game. One of the better Star Wars games that came out in recent years, and I'm excited for the sequel. Cal is absolutely a great character in the game, and so are so many of the others. And BD-1 is best droid ever, I don't care what anyone else says. R2's still very cool, and has plenty of personality, but when I played this game and saw Beedee, that droid's character was just really cool and is very cute. Just look at the little guy!

monthly game tag time!
january
1. Fayburrow
i contemplated not even including this one on this list, as it was incredibly short, but i figured i should. story was interesting & the graphics were pretty, but the controls weren't great & again, it is fairly short (half-an-hour at most), but it's completely free & overall a nice experience.
2. Heaven's Vault
honestly i have mixed feelings about this game. the story was really good, but in the end it just felt way too damn long. still, the main game mechanic of translating a language (which was specifically made for this game!!) was super cool to me, i had so much fun with it even though it could be pretty challenging lol so overall i do recommend it! besides the length, probably my biggest issue was how slow the main character moved, but still, if it sounds like something you'd be interested in then overall i definitely recommend it :)
3. Chicken Police - Paint it RED!
this was my personal favorite of the games i played in january. the art style was so unique & the mystery was fairly good, though i'd be remiss if i didn't admit it played into some harmful ableist tropes, which was disappointing. imo where the game truly shined, though, was the world-building. like i literally felt compelled to gather each & every piece of information i could, not just because i'm a completionist, but because i genuinely enjoyed learning more about the fictional world, so i definitely recommend it based on that alone lol
february
1. Bugsnax
if you've been paying attention lately then you probably already know i absolutely adored this game! literally my only criticism was the loading times, everything else was a 10/10 🥰🥰🥰 ...well, actually i do have one more very slight criticism but that would be getting into spoiler territory & i don't want to spoil anything in case someone does decide to pick it up :3
2. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
tbh the controls felt super wonky the first time i tried playing this (which i actually made a post about) but upon retrying it they weren't so bad? i mean i actually managed to finish the game this time lol
but anyway, on to my actual thoughts. i thought this game was pretty good! the story was kind of hard to follow at times, but i think that's probably due to me not being super into star wars lore. also ngl cal was kind of boring to me, like i was much more invested in cere, greez, bd-1, & merrin than i ever was in cal. not that i disliked him or anything, just overall his character arc was the least interesting to me (although i do think it got better in the second half of the game). & speaking of the second half, the final fight? EASILY the best part of the entire game 🤯🤯 like honestly i have to recommend the game based on that alone LOL
3. Hitman GO
having played Lara Croft GO a couple years ago, i decided to give this one a try. honestly there's not much to say about it except that it was fun! you don't have to be super into the Hitman series to play this (i'm certainly not lol), it's really just a fun little strategy game more than anything. plus the graphics & sound design are really nice! i played it on the computer but it's made for mobile & it's only $6, so definitely check it out if you're looking for a good mobile game to play :)

Cal Kestis x Kyra Yarmot

'Revenge and Redemption
In the Name of Love'
Pt.1
___________________
Ayo, we are BACK! Also...it was probably obvious by how I painted everything, but yeah...Kyra isn't dead. Yet. 👀
Thanks to everyone who voted for the second book in the last week, I will try my best to not disappoint.
But, to balance out my other hobbies and the few hours of freetime I have, I probably won't post new chapters as quick as for the first book, depending on how easy the chapters write themselves. After all there is a new Star Wars game to play- (and I finally need to finish Fallen Order...)
Enough talk, here is the as always boring introduction chapter featuring a new side character!
Enjoy! :)
Word Count: approx. 3.650 Words
(Also, in case you haven't read the first book yet, here you can read from the beginning of it.)
___________________
You still felt the cracking and twisting of your neck, your spine being bent in ways that shouldn't be possible, even for you…and you remember the last words you heard before…before…
You died.
Or…at least you were pretty sure you were dead, as you slowly felt some light fall into the void you had been stuck motionless in for almost an eternity now, only your vast amounts of past mistakes and the same memories as always left for you to ponder over and over again as you were sure this was the end. The light had to be the afterlife, right?
You didn't want to leave Cal and BD like this…no, not yet…
This is too early…
But the light grew stronger, despite your protests and groveling.
Ever stronger.
And now you were able to blink- wait, pause. You weren't able to blink in the void before, neither had you been able to move-
"Kyra?! She...she moved her hands! Quick!"
That voice…that's…that's-
"C-cal…" you groan, the name rolling from your tongue instinctively, the bright lights continuing to blind you as you regain full control over your eyelids – feeling the sleep crust stuck at your eyelashes – trying to adjust to the light…of this room. This wasn't death.
This is an infirmary.
"I'm here, Kyra, i'm here... I won't leave your side, never again!" Cal sat at your bed side, visibly exhausted with dark, sunked rings under his eyes and his hair not having seen a comb or brush for a good while now, holding onto your free right hand as his golden eyes filled with more than just worry, relief and joy. You never expected to see such emotions in these types of eyes…
These weren't just anyone's eyes though, those are Cal's eyes, no matter if they were still green or now golden and the slightest bit of red, they had never lost the warmth familiar to them. Of anything, they looked more emotional than before. He no longer had to hide his feelings from himself...
And the connection you two had…had it been tethered the whole time, had he been able to see and hear what you did? If yes, why couldn't you see his thoughts while…in a coma, you guessed?
Cal had just opened his mouth to respond when a woman dressed like a doctor nearly ran into the room, partially sliding to an abrupt stop as she looked into your eyes. Dressed like a doctor, probably is a doctor. Instead of continuing his own explanation, he can't help but chuckle lightly at your unfiltered thoughts about the woman that just came in, shaking his head in disbelief, "You don't know how glad I am that the fall didn't change you…"
Change you? Because you struck your head? Well, it's probably a very viable risk you had, you had read about amnesia and whole personalities changing after heavy head trauma-
"I came as soon as I heard your shout from the hall down, Eleventh Brother!" The older, quite energetic doctor rambled, staring at you in awe and odd wonder. Like a child seeing a Wookie for the first time.
Never seen a drago-…no…no, probably not.
"You can't believe how long I have waited for such a moment, ever after I read the old research pa-" "Dr. Puloria…" Cal, unfamiliarly cold, snaps her back to reality as her eyes widen from…fear? Or just Respect?
And did she just call him Eleventh Brother?
So, it's official…he really became an Inquisitor. But you knew that for longer now, finding out about his new "nickname" clearly just caught you off guard. You came with him knowing what would happen…and after all these things you saw on the Mantis, some too gruesome that even BD begged you to not watch any further?
You're ready to join his side, fully and determined.
"Right, right, I am so sorry. We can continue about this when you're well rested and on the next routine check-up …okay. How do you feel, darling?" The doctor calmed herself down significantly after Cal called out her behavior, evidently needing to take a deep breath twice before she could return to a normal tone with you. What made you that interesting to her? In the end, you're just another girl in this wide-spread Galaxy. She did almost mention research papers when Cal…the Eleventh Brother…stopped her from rambling on any further. To be honest, it grabbed your attention more than it probably should right after waking up from a coma of unknown lenght.
You next realized how dried out your throat was at that moment, watching 'Dr. Puloria' look for a folder on the messy desk at the wall. Well, as good as you could look in your apparent condition, every rash and quick movement with your neck stung like a thousand microscopic vibro-blades and soon you just gave up trying to force the pain away, sticking to turning your head as slow as possible, but even that ended up being too exhausting.
Slumping back against the pillow, you feel Cal caress your unusually pale hand gently, like he could accidentally hurt you even more with the wrong touch. "Your neck took quite a hit…the Doctor said you're lucky to be naturally armored at so many parts of your body, as it saved you from getting paralyzed neck down." He laments, bringing attention to the offending and immensely obstructing object around your neck. You remember one of your assigned Clones once had to wear one of these, it stabilizes the wearer's neck until it can carry its own weight again without causing more damage or pain and the injury has healed.
Accepting your current fate, for now, you ask Cal if he could please find a glass of water for you, that your throat felt like you had swallowed a bucket of burning, coarse sand. Something he didn't even have to answer with a nod or words as he jumped to his feet and began looking for a glass and leaving the room, returning in under a minute.
"Here. Drink as many as you think you'll need, the Doctor prepared me for the moment you would hopefully wake up, so I know by now where most necessities should be..."
So caring…and loving. You missed your Cal, missed his kind and understanding nature. Your perfect mate.
You were so…afraid, of losing this light forever. Your light, that became everything you needed and wanted in such a short and unexpected time. All because you met in the right circumstances and you were both in desperate for affection, something nobody cared for in either of you for way too long at that point. And now, for you, it's eternal. You just hoped you would never end up boring him…because you aren't his mate. Humans don't have just one mate by nature, they didn't get bound to one another like you did...
"You're overthinking again…you would never bore me, dragonfly…" And you missed your nickname, only ever used by him, rolling off his tongue.
From the corner of your vision, you saw Dr. Puloria listening along very clearly, at some points even forgetting to look more for the folder instead, which in turn called her out to you. She really was interested in…you, or it seemed like that to you at least.
"Cal, can I get another one, pretty please?" You ask sweetly, holding out your glass, the puppy eyes very much unnecessary as he had already gone to fetch you a fresh glass of water. He would do anything just to know you're not in any more unneeded pain.
This was the fourth now. But you were sure that one would then be enough for now, feeling your throat being hydrated once more, not the grizzly dryness from before. Now you were just extremely thirsty.
Just as quickly as the other three times, the completely dressed in black – and some red accents – Boy returned, his eyes kept trained on you the whole time, afraid you could fall back out of consciousness if he didn't for some reason. But you wouldn't go anywhere, you're staying right here with him, at his side and his warmth.
"I was so scared…I never felt so out of control in the air..." you didn't even plan to say that, it just…slipped out, Cal grimacing at your wounded words, "Me too, I thought- I mean…there, there was so much blood, Trilla said that you were a lost cause, but I just couldn't leave you to die…all, all alone, nobody at your side…not after the things you told me, about the things you witnessed yourself."
The image he had to have seen flooded your thoughts, something you weren't sure if he even knew he let you see through your connection. He was right, there was a lot of blood. So much purple on the sharp rocks that stopped your fall…and…oh- oh no…
Your seemingly lifeless body was forgotten by you as you saw something else lie close to you, broken limps scattered and sparks coming from the ripped cables and broken optics, was BD. He…he didn't make the fall. And you began to remember that he slipped from your weakened grasp at that moment.
He trusted you, to keep him safe. He jumped for you…
And you couldn't keep even BD safe…
"BD…" you mumble, a stray tear on your scales wiped away by Cal as he realized with panic what you saw, first apologizing for forgetting how open the thoughts of yours were to each other if you didn't restrict them or similar. "He…I took him with me. I couldn't leave him either way, he had been my companion for this whole journey, he risked his memories for my stupid waste of a journey …"
You know exactly how it feels, to lose even the smallest size of a friend…it hurts no less than the other full sized ones. Maybe even more since they clearly were depending on you keeping them safe. It was your own failure that took your own former companion from you…just like with BD.
But BD…you saw a sliver of hope for him. Unlike with the little green blob you were grateful to have called your friend once upon a time, BD is fixable. His bones aren't unfixable, there was no blood to lose and no skin to tear.
Would you ever be able to scrub that image from your mind, or at least...learn to deal with the fact that it happened?
Just as Cal is about to ask you about the friend you meant, he is once again interrupted by the Doctor, a bitter pout wandering onto his expression as he sighs.
Later, Cal, later…
"So, well, first of all, I should inform you of your current whereabouts. You're on Nur, the Moon of Mustafar. I hope to the dear makers you're not claustrophobic, because we are 90% underwater in this base." Nur…you remember the name, you once passed through the Mustafar System with a different Jedi Master you found trying to "hide" out. Quite insulting to your actual attempt trying to hide from the Empire when he was just two planets off of Coruscant, trying to drink himself into his own Coma.
You knew that man well from your former time at the Temple, sometimes having been the substitute for when your actual Master was needed by the Council for a meeting. You also knew he once had a Padawan of his own, one you never had the pleasure to meet…but to hear the various stories and adventures of the two. The good and the bad, all while his said former Master got wasted beyond the stars...
Master Tegra never let you meet the other Padawan as he was afraid of you getting rejected once more, like usual. He never told you out right, but it was so obvious it sometimes hurt more than the possible rejections from your peers. He didn't want you to get rejected left and right because it would lead to frustration. And frustration was an entrance path to getting on the wrong side of the force.
Worked out very well for you, old man…
You were long gone…how long? Maybe already before Cal lost his way, maybe on that or that planet a few years ago…but you never fully realized when you began to lose the balance Master Tegra taught you feverishly. Your course changed so subtly, not even you noticed until it was too late to really ever return...
The doctor continued reading the folder for you, pointing out some of the minor injuries that healed while you had been bound to the bed…for how long were you even unconscious? Days? Weeks?...Months?
"Okay, that list being done, let's continue to the two that still have to take their time to heal, the ones you have to be careful with to not worsen them once I release you from the Infirmary tomorrow." You would be getting released already tomorrow? That sounds too good to be true, you absolutely hated Doctors. Well, not the people. But having to go to their office…back in the Temple you remember clinging to door frames with all your four claws, sometimes even utilizing your fangs, your Clones trying in groups of five to tear you off the said frames because you were up for the monthly blood tests.
You were nearly fearless, but needles…oh nononono. Not needles. You didn't even know why you had that particular fear in the first place, as the needles they used didn't even hurt on your skin. Some weren't even strong enough to penetrate deep enough at your normal skin, it also being tougher than your average human's skin.
"First off, your neck injury. It was heavy blunt trauma, it shook your spine up a bit, to say it in layman's terms. But nothing some position correction couldn't fix. You're getting the neck brace taken off in two days by the way, as you're healing very well. I account that to your heightened immune system of your species." Right, a neck brace, that's what they were called…you already felt bad for the Clone back then, but wearing one yourself felt like a tiny prison, even drinking your karking water just now had been a struggle.
"And secondly, the only thing you will need to be careful of for a while…your wing. I bonded the torn membrane with advanced bacta patches, to draw them together and let them heal and scar naturally."
Right…
She cut your wing…she took what made you who you are. She is the reason you're here today, stuck in an infirmary bed.
The reason you woul-
"Relax, Kyra, you'll be having all the time in the Galaxy to think about your revenge…but you need to get better first." You hated it when Cal was your only voice of reason – now not even BD was here anymore to encourage your chaotic thoughts, just for fun and to see what would happen – of all possibilities, it had to be the boy that chose the Empire of all places as your safest choice.
"I heard that." "Good." You already back in the next breath, giving him the first snarky smile since a while now again before your attention went to the odd feeling behind you, something you noticed just now only.
It's gauze wrapped around your entire wing…how did they manage that and just how much gauze did they waste on that?
Did they really think some weirdly advanced bacta patch of all things the medical field had to karking offer, could fix your wing? Such injuries have crippled your ancestors for life, why would you be any different!
You…you would never fly again, you would never be able to feel the breeze on your face and scales once more…
No more were you a proud drago-
"The gauze I will take off tomorrow morning, don't worry about that restricting feeling as of now, it is only there in case you thrash in your sleep or subconsciously tried stretching your wing in your unconscious state." That- That wasn't the problem…the problem was that something so important couldn't be just fixed by slapping a karking bacta patch on it, hoping it would magically heal like they did with every other wound…
Never could you take Cal…or BD, for flights again, all your worth your body had, cut apart like cheap paper, by your own Lightsaber…insult to injury.
"We can do nothing else but try, Kyra. And I trust Dr. Puloria. She is maybe a bit too energetic and a bit hectic sometimes, but she does great work!" At the 'energetic and hectic' part, the white haired woman pulls her eyebrows up in question before chuckling, "Yeah, I might need to drink a bit less Caf before my shifts. But you need to understand, it's really hard to stay awake without it in a job like mine. Doctors and Nurses need to be up almost 24/7, especially when your understaffed." That had also been a common problem at the Temple, but they let their patients feel their exhaustion…they were rude and rough with you, hoping to be done with you as soon as possible.
And then people really had the audacity to wonder why you tried avoiding their offices as much as possible. Not only to not be forced to get treated like that as well, but also with a small thought in the back of your head: If they had at least one less patient…would it lift some of their work off their shoulders?
Your stomach suddenly intervened your thoughts, gurgling loudly in protest. It had to have been empty all this time, the…ugh…needle in the back of your hand – however they managed to penetrate through the scales of all possible places – probably part of some bag with a mineral and vitamin liquid to keep you from becoming too malnourished while you couldn't eat. Cal reacted the quickest at the foreign, strange noise, his unoccupied hand going to look and search through the pockets at the back of his uniform's pants. It proudly returned with a bar somewhat the length of his palm, wrapped in matt black plastic, which he immediately went to unwrap for you.
'Energy Bar - Imperial Ration #28907ENB' it simply read…minimal design, you liked that.
At the sight of the small Energy Bar, the Doctor sighs in some distinct type of disappointment, "Eleventh Brother, an Energy Bar like that, basically nothing but sugar for said Energy, is not going to make her any less hungry…this is for training, so keep it for that. Eat that yourself, I will get her something different, more nutritious in the meantime…"
Makers, you hated Doctors and their sense of needing to be correct all the time sometimes.
Pouting, both of you, you wait for her to leave the darkly colored yet incredibly bright room. Then, Cal went to break the bar in half anyways. "Here, at least take a bit of it while she's out…" For an Energy Bar made for and probably by the Empire, it did look karking delicious. But that could also be just your stomach thinking and making decisions for you.
"Then you'll also get a culinary taste of what awaits you, I guess?" What awaits you in the first place? You didn't care in the end, you would be ready for anything if it is at his side again…you would've even continued suffering on the Mantis, if he had decided to stay.
"You know I eat absolutely everything." You return with the same tired and a bit loopy smile as before. The needle was feeding you more than just vitamins and minerals, definitely.
"Which speaks even more against Greez's cooking, not even you brought every meal down…"
While Greez wasn't exactly bad at cooking…he was definitely a niche chef, as you would call it. He had certain ingredients he was able to cook well with and others, oh well, they were a lost cause in his four hands…
Fortunately you no longer had to witness that daily disaster. "You want to eat your half yourself or can I…" "Yes, you can…you forgot that I can hear your thoughts too?"
He looked just a bit stunned before he shook his head sheepishly, coming closer to your already slightly open mouth with the Energy Bar. "Please don't bite my finger, I know you're hungry- Ow."
Now you just had to do it, for the simple fact that he really thought you would eat his hand. But you bit him only very gently, his 'ow.' ending up to be more playful than anything else as he pulls the baked and glazed bar away again, "What did I just say? You're a bad girl."
A- a w-what...
The second attempt, you kept your sharp fangs to yourself and finally also ended up getting the food he promised you, chewing satisfied on the still slightly crunchy cereals and fruits it contained. It really tasted as good as it looked, maybe favorite snack worthy…
No, that was Cal-
"I heard that one too." "Ah good, I was worried for a moment it didn't reach you-" another snarky moment of yours was cut short when you felt his soft and as always needy lips on yours, a low moan growing in his throat as you melted back together. As surprising as this came right now, you waited for him to finally claim you once more.
You remember the final, burning feelings of regret as you fell back down to the planet, how you regretted not kissing Cal when you had found him again in the mountains after all these months, that you wished you had just gone with your guts and kissed him then and there.
That you would've just believed him and Trilla instead of having to investigate yourself, but anyone would've done the same thing after having been fed these lies by the Republic all their life…
Just as he deepened the kiss, becoming rougher with his lips, feeling his tongue ask for entrance and his hands starting to carefully as possible cradle your injured head, you both heard someone clear their throat. Dr. Puloria…
"She is supposed to eat food, not your face, Eleventh Brother. Same accounts for you."
He jumps off of you instantly, face burning as bright red as your fire as his hands had been quite obviously been caught in the cookie jar. Was…was it still forbidden for you two? Did you still have to hide your relationships and feelings for each other?
Cal heard your thoughts perfectly, you knew that and still he kept his mouth shut this time as the Doctor placed a tablet with two plates onto a bed-table for you. "Usually I would have a Droid helping me with these tablets, but that stupid thing broke down two days a-" she stops rambling to mostly herself at this point when she realizes that neither of you two had really listened to her, eyes going from you to him and back to you.
"Right…The Eleventh Brother has been "vaguely" hinting at you two being…more than friends. And apparently no one has bothered to tell him in his three, nearly four, months here that relationships aren't forbidden. But it is kind of awkward running into two people just kissing…"
That does explain her odd reaction...
That also means though you're wrong with your earlier fearful assumption, you no longer have to hide your relationship…you can finally live your life, even if it meant being on the apparently bad side of this intergalactic war…
This was the moment Cal always talked about, wasn't it? About having to be selfish at some point for one's own happiness instead of constantly watching out for others. A teaching only oneself can learn, as no Jedi was taught that piece of advice. If anything, showing selfishness was also forbidden, like many other freedoms that made up living life as a whole.
Did the Jedi ever truly live life to their fullest?
Surprisingly, it had been a dark question plaguing your mind even as a youngling and Padawan already – just that it was more innocent in nature back then – watching the idle lives of the other Jedi Knights, Master and fellow Padawans pass by without any memorable moments seemingly sticking to them. At least, they never openly showed them to their kin. Everyone would think they're getting attached…and then…well, you didn't know what they did to punish them. Even though your own Master was part of that same Council, he was very tight lipped about what happened beyond these ominous, big doors.
While they followed their boring daily routines, you had a huge amount of natural curiosity that often led to you ending up in trouble, usually saved by your Clone Troops. They had covered for you so many times…if you had been just a bit better behaved- No…it's in the past now, there…there was nothing that could bring Zeta and the rest back to you…nothing.
The scars of that day at last began their healing when Cal abruptly fell into your life, something you still like to describe as a punch to the face from just how sudden it was, the frequent small little conversation you shared ever since the night on that Bardottan Market and at that small lake helping not just with your emotional healing.
"But that's part of a matter that isn't my expertise. I just make sure none of you bleeds out, dies of poisoning or gets an infection…well, and annual check ups."
Kark no, not check ups.
"Here, you should eat now. Afterwards, you should rest up – and no more funny business – you're supposed to speak to the Grand Inquisitor tomorrow noon after I officially released you and we just can't have you looking even more mentally out of it than you're already." She hands you a pair of metal cutlery before turning around to leave, "And Eleventh Brother, you should be rested for tomorrow's hearing as well. Do both of you a favor and sleep at your room tonight."
With that, she left the room once again, which – taken from her overall tone – probably the last time you saw her for today as Cal silently agreed with a nod. But you could hear the growing wish to protest against her, that he wanted to stay at your side even now that you're awake. Especially now…he had waited so long for you to wake up again.
Actually, thinking about that, you hadn't even had the thought to ask about how long you had been unconscious for-
"Four weeks…you were in a coma for four whole weeks, that's why most of your wounds have healed by now."
Four weeks…of wasted time.
Time you could've used to plan your revenge.
Meaning you had to push even harder than probably expected of you, you needed to get back on your feet as soon as possible.
They would all regret treating you in such ways…they would get to see what happens if you keep pushing...and pushing a person, until they had to figuratively and literally jump over the edge...
Today, we write about the day the Galaxy gained another Sith...

ok so update, i just found zee and went back to pyloons saloon. i havent gotten very far but i just have so many things to say!!!!
ok so i dont know if i already mentioned this but i loveee the customization. its so in depth and i really like that you unlock small paint collections with a couple different colors/materials. and from there you can change every individual part and choose how polished they are, then you can change the ware overall. i love the vibrant coruscant color set so first, i made a silvery lightsaber with purple and pink accents with a purple blade. and same thing for bd-1. right now, i unlocked some more orangy colors so right now i have a brownish-orange saber with vibrant orange accents and an orange blade. might fuck around with it some more. and i am loving the tactical jacket that has a CAPEE. my boy is so stylish. i made his undershirt the scrapper one (because it has rolled up sleeves and only one glove) in blue. i cant wait to unlock more things and continue to play with customization. only thing is that i WISH you could save designs you make. maybe you can and i havent unlocked it yet (praying)
i really like the upgrades to the camera feature. i didnt mess with it a whole lot in fallen order but i really like how much more in depth it is. heres a picture i took
Tumblr media
i really appreciate how much attention to detail there is. the decoration around the saloon is very nice and it feels very homey there.
also i need to mention that the subtle nods to jokes are so good. greez’s salt shaker, cal’s ponchos, THE LITERAL LIVE SLUG REACTION CREATURE (not the same one but you know.). also i must mention that the bathroom in the saloon is really cool? (and i laughed so hard when cal removed that thing from the toilet). ive never seen a star wars bathroom, except the one in disney land 😭 it was so dirty and ugly in there and it STUNK so bad and there were like 30 people in it. also the sinks were really weird and it took me a hot minute to figure out how to activate the sensor lmao
okay characters. mosey? she is so hot im gonna die. i like doma’s design. OKAY ZEE? i will die for zee. i love her so much shes the best droid ever. i love my high republic era droid and will protect her from all harm.
this game really is an upgrade in all categories. especially in cutscenes and story, it just feels much more polished and smooth. the cutscene after cal woke up was a particularly emotional one, what with the first real dig we’ve seen into cal’s emotions. we see him acting rash and emotionally, getting angry. its so interesting to see how he’s changed. and to see the rift between him and cere especially. he’s clearly avoiding it and i haven’t seen much yet, but im guessing that theyve gotten into more disagreements about how jedi should act. cere is very traditional in a lot of ways, where cal is doing what he needs to survive. from the trailers, it looks like cere’s trying to build up the jedi archives again, where cal is working with saw gurera or however you spell his name and trying to hit the empire where it hurts. cal is a man of action and that can’t be reasoned with. its just how he grew up. with the jedi order gone and him having to fend for himself and protect his identity from the ripe age of 10, he’s definitely not going to be a traditional jedi like cere, who became a master with her own padawan before it fell. she’s had more teaching and learned more lessons and overall taken away more than cal. he can’t just settle down. that’s not who he is. he needs to fight back and help others. he’s active and cere seems more passive. so anyway im excited to see where this goes.
thats about it i just wanted to sit and write my thoughts before i play too much and forget these things over more important things i’ll see later on.

cal kestis for the character thing?
Hi Phase 😊 First impression Before playing the game my first impression was "oh this character is very pretty and his hair is amazing". First impression upon starting the game was ooh, great taste in music (I'd been listening to the Hu for a few months already at that point) and secondly, that I love his sense of humor ("No unapproved trash!" "I'm trash, just not approved trash")
Impression now I still love his hair, taste in music, and humor, but also he's just very kind, really traumatized, and while I'm not usually one to baby a character I really just want to wrap him in a blanket and give him some hot chocolate
Favorite moment Pretty much any time he and BD-1 check in with each other, it's so cute. Also, a really tiny thing that I may have purposely gone out of my way to see more: on Dathomir there are these tiny hallways that Cal squeezes through, it's a gimmick that's used on most planets but Dathomir has some really long ones and they're not all as straightforward as the others. One in particular has a step down and Cal is looking at his feet leaning forward to make the step and BD-1 is leaning over too and nearly tumbles off of Cal's shoulder but Cal catches BD and like tosses him back onto his shoulder and it's the cutest thing ever
Idea for a story At the moment I think I've written all the ideas I had for him so far, hoping that the next game will bring more ideas and inspiration. Or maybe I should just play the game again to get the inspiration back lol it has been quite a while since i played
Unpopular opinion Orange is his canon lightsaber colour lmao kidding, I don't think I have any particular opinions about him that would be unpopular? I can't think of anything off the top of my head, my only unpopular opinion would be directed at the fandom itself rather than Cal specifically, but it's more of a you do you and i'll do me and we won't do each other sort of thing, I'm not going to blast anyone for having a headcanon that i don't agree with
Favorite relationship I lean more towards no relationship, but I'm ok with him and Merrin being together
Favorite headcanon My own personal one: After the events of the first game, Cal sleeps for like a week. They find somewhere unpopulated to hang out for a while and it's the calmest environment he's been in in like six years and as soon as they're not rushing back and forth across the galaxy or being chased by Inquisitors and bounty hunters, his body switches to recovery mode and he falls asleep EVERYWHERE. He'll sleep through the night and get up, have breakfast, fall asleep at the table for a while, then he's outside helping Greez fix something on the Mantis and suddenly he's falling asleep on top of the ship. Any time he sits still for more than two seconds, no matter how recently he slept or for how long, he's fast asleep yet again. His bunk at the back of the ship is so quiet and serene that three times over the week of rest he wakes up with their little bogling stowaway sleeping against his legs and eventually he's able to pet the little creature. She really loves ear scratches.

Like a seedling breaking through the soil, Cal Kestis' lightsaber begins as a humble weapon, reflecting his initial journey as a Padawan. Through his training and the first modifications, the blade grows stronger, mirroring Cal's own growth and determination.
It is through the influence of ancient Jedi wisdom that his lightsaber becomes more than just a weapon, becoming an extension of his identity. As Cal personalizes and customizes his blade, it becomes a unique expression of his character.
And in the dark times, as Cal adapts to the ever-changing challenges, his lightsaber evolves, embodying his resilience in the face of adversity. Ultimately, the symbolic transformation and redemption of Cal's lightsaber mirrors his own journey from survivor to hero.
The Origins of Cal Kestis' Lightsaber
In discovering the origins of Cal Kestis' lightsaber, you'll explore the fascinating journey of its creation and the significance it holds in his Star Wars story.
Cal's lightsaber wasn't just a weapon; it was a symbol of his Jedi heritage and his determination to carry on the Jedi Order's legacy.
The journey began when Cal retrieved a broken lightsaber crystal from the planet Ilum. With the help of his droid companion, BD-1, and the guidance of a wise mentor, Cal embarked on a quest to construct his own lightsaber.
Through trial and error, he learned the art of lightsaber construction, carefully selecting the necessary components and infusing the weapon with his own personal touch.
This lightsaber became a powerful tool in Cal's fight against the Empire, representing his growth as a Jedi and his commitment to restoring hope in the galaxy.
Cal's Training and the First Modifications
During your training with a wise mentor, you made the first modifications to Cal Kestis' lightsaber. As you honed your skills in the ways of the Force, you realized that Cal's lightsaber needed enhancements to match his growing abilities.
The first modification involved replacing the standard kyber crystal with a more powerful one, allowing for a stronger and more focused blade. You also added an adjustable focusing lens, enabling Cal to control the width and intensity of the lightsaber beam.
To improve maneuverability, you made the hilt more ergonomic, ensuring a comfortable grip during intense battles. Additionally, you installed a dual-phase emitter, granting Cal the ability to extend the blade's length for greater reach.
These initial modifications laid the foundation for Cal's lightsaber's evolution, equipping him for the challenges that lay ahead in his journey.
The Influence of Ancient Jedi Wisdom
Drawing upon ancient Jedi wisdom, you delve into the depths of Cal Kestis' lightsaber evolution. Throughout his journey, Cal's lightsaber reflects not only his growth as a Jedi but also the profound influence of the ancient teachings.
The ancient Jedi wisdom emphasizes the importance of balance, both within oneself and in the Force. plo koon lightsaber form begins as a simple, single-bladed weapon, symbolizing his initial steps on the path of a Jedi.
As he progresses, Cal learns to trust his instincts and embrace his connection to the Force. This newfound understanding leads him to modify his lightsaber, adding a double-bladed configuration. This change represents his growing confidence and ability to wield the Force with greater control.
The influence of ancient Jedi wisdom can be seen in Cal's lightsaber evolution, reminding us of the timeless teachings that guide the Jedi Order.
Cal's Personalization and Customization
Now let's talk about Cal's personalization and customization of his lightsaber.
From unique saber modifications to the symbolism behind his customizations, Cal's choices reflect his growth and journey as a Jedi.
These personalized touches not only make his lightsaber distinct, but they also serve as a visual representation of his individuality and connection to the Force.
Unique Saber Modifications
Have you ever wondered how Cal Kestis customized and personalized his lightsaber in unique ways? Well, let's dive into the world of unique saber modifications that Cal implemented on his weapon.
One of the standout features of his lightsaber is the split design, with two separate emitter blades that can be detached and used independently. This modification allows Cal to have two lightsabers at his disposal, granting him increased versatility in combat.
Additionally, Cal added a kyber crystal chamber to his lightsaber, displaying a vibrant blue crystal that signifies his connection to the Force. This personal touch not only adds visual appeal but also serves as a reminder of Cal's journey as a Jedi.
With these unique modifications, Cal's lightsaber becomes a reflection of his individuality and growth as a Jedi Knight.
Symbolism of Customizations
With his unique saber modifications, Cal Kestis personalizes and customizes his lightsaber to symbolize his individuality and growth as a Jedi Knight. Each customization serves to reflect Cal's evolving identity and journey throughout the Star Wars game.
The color of his lightsaber crystal, initially blue and later green, represents his transition from a Padawan to a Jedi Knight. This change signifies his personal growth, as he learns to embrace and embody the teachings of the Jedi Order.
Additionally, the addition of unique hilt attachments, such as the split saber and dual-bladed configuration, showcases Cal's adaptability and versatility in combat. These modifications not only enhance his skills but also serve as a visual representation of his determination to overcome obstacles and protect the galaxy from the forces of darkness.
The Dark Times and Cal's Adaptations
Navigating through the Dark Times, Cal Kestis honed his lightsaber skills and made necessary adaptations to survive.
As a Jedi Padawan, he found himself hunted by the Empire and forced to go into hiding. In order to evade detection, Cal modified his lightsaber to emit a less conspicuous blue blade instead of the distinctive green that traditionally represented the Jedi. This adaptation allowed him to blend in with the general population, reducing the risk of being identified as a Jedi.
Additionally, Cal adjusted the length of his lightsaber's hilt to improve his grip and maneuverability during combat. These modifications enabled him to effectively defend himself against Imperial forces while maintaining a low profile, a crucial factor in his quest to survive the Dark Times.
The Symbolic Transformation and Redemption
As you journey through Cal Kestis' evolution, you'll witness a profound and frequent transformation that ultimately leads to his redemption. Cal's journey begins with a shattered lightsaber, a symbol of his broken past and loss.
As he embarks on his quest, Cal's lightsaber becomes a physical representation of his growth and healing. With each new planet visited and each enemy defeated, Cal's lightsaber undergoes changes, evolving alongside him. The cracked kyber crystal is replaced, representing Cal's ability to mend what was once broken. The once blue blade transitions to green, symbolizing Cal's progression from a lost Padawan to a true Jedi Knight.
Through his trials and tribulations, Cal's lightsaber acts as a symbol of hope, transformation, and ultimately, redemption.

Tumblr media
V; Main - takes place during or after Jedi: Survivor. Cal is 23 and a Jedi Knight. Threads that take place after the events of the game will also be tagged as v; Tanalore.
V; Fallen - Takes place toward the end of the game. Cal has fallen to the Dark Side as a result of Bode’s betrayal and the stress of constantly fighting the Empire. He is not completely evil; there are still people he holds dear and things he won’t do, but in combat, he shows no restraint or remorse. He’s become a vengeful nihilist, hellbent on slaying those who have wronged him. First Bode, then Vader, and the whole of the Galactic Empire. The only things that matter to him are ensuring that all of them burn and keeping his very few friends safe. (Side note: this AU is largely inspired by how Cartoonz played the game after Bode’s betrayal, and I thought it would be fun to actually project his rage onto Cal. 😈)
V; modern - I don’t have specifics yet, but I do know that I want a verse where Cal is just the most normal earthling dude…or at least as normal as I can write him. He has a very helpful emotional support cat named Bede (pronounced like BD), drives a motorcycle but can’t drive a car, is very involved in his local HEMA chapter and well trained in both mixed martial arts and medieval weaponry, and likes to garden in his spare time. Cal is a historian by trade, and often has to travel abroad for work. Young as he is, he has some trouble getting colleagues to take him seriously, but it doesn’t diminish his love for the job at all.
V; Wednesday - Due to shenanigans, Cal manages to crash land the Mantis not only on earth but right in the backyard of a very creepy, kooky, mysterious, spooky, and altogether hooky family, shortly after they return from dropping Wednesday off at Nevermore Academy. He survives, and while the Mantis is mostly in one piece, she’s badly damaged and in need of some major repairs before she can fly again. In true Addams fashion, Gomez and Morticia welcome him into their home and do their best to help him recover from his injuries. He very quickly insists on helping them out in return, mainly by assisting Lurch around the house or keeping Pugsley company after school. He comes with them to meet Wednesday at Nevermore for parents weekend. (Anything can happen from there, although I won’t ship Cal with underage muses. This takes place at the beginning of Jedi: Survivor, after Cal leaves Coruscant, so Cal is 23, and a Jedi Knight, and still dealing with the loss of his crew. Bode and BD-1 will probably appear as NPCs for interactions with Wednesday/Addams Family characters. Also, this is just a fun little AU that I had rolling around in my brain.)
V; pirate - Y’know I gotta do it. Cal Kestis is the youngest captain the Mantis has ever had, having just inherited the bonny ship from his newly retired captain, Greez, and now sails the Caribbean, nay, all the seven seas! Treasure is a fine goal, of course, and Cal has always been partial to searching for historical artifacts, but what his heart truly desires is adventure. He’s a lovable rogue, hailing from Ireland, and the son of a sailor and a governor’s daughter. Saltwater flows through his veins. He has a pet parrot named Beady who’s very good at fetching things. (Again, he’s 23, but he’s a little more morally questionable in this verse. Very much against the British Empire. And honestly, all empires. I’m open to plotting out crew related stuff!)
V; Royal - Cal is a prince…or rather, a former prince. He was leading a massive research effort to uncover more of his nation’s ancient past, and right when he was about to make a crucial discovery, his best friend (possibly Bode, but could be anyone. I’m open to plotting) betrayed him by calling in an ambush. Cal barely managed to escape with his life and made it back to the palace…only to find it under siege. He was soon met by a scout who delivered a message from his father: ‘Do not come back. Run. Just save yourself. Follow your stars.’ Prince Cal did just that, though it broke his heart to leave. Shedding his noble title, Cal went on the run with his familiar, Bede (BD), eventually getting to a point where he had to become a sellsword and artifact hunter in order to survive. Currently, he’s a bit more rugged, having been on the road for the past five years, and he finds it hard to trust others, but he’s still a very compassionate man, and will always do his best to help others.

Battle Scars Review (spoiler-free)
9/10. I haven't done a review in a while but this book needs one for a few reasons. The short of it is that it fucks.
I decided to read it (the audiobook version- I mostly do audio) to bridge the gap between my last read and to-be-released Cataclysm. Similarly, one of the primary purposes of Battle Scars is clearly to bridge the gap between JFO and Survivor. I picked up the book because I liked the characters from JFO and thought it would be a fun listen to pass the time. But it did so much more.
The first half was good. I was still feeling out the characters and wondering where we were headed next. The second half hooked me; it was great! And the finale is honestly incredible. I wasn't expecting how much I loved it. After finishing it, I realized I had fell absolutely in love with the main cast and new characters. It begs for your attention because the characters are constantly giving it their all- and the voice performance was excellent too. I can't justify giving it a lesser score for my own sanity. The book has great interactions, raw emotions, engaging action sequences, meaningful representation, balanced pacing, and allows an inroad to question other things in the universe.
I've noticed on a few sites that the book is rated poorly by readers, and I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it’s about people's mismatched expectations. E..g, the "balanced pacing" mentioned above- this is not JFO in the sense that Cal is constantly running around with BD-1 slashing at enemies or finding loot. It’s some of that but also extrapolates on the between-mission interactions to fully flesh out an actual novel. Or maybe readers were expecting something more earth-shattering/consequential for the universe in general, I don't know. All I know is that this book did everything it set out to do; I love the characters more than ever, appreciate the journeys they took in this novel, and am even more excited for Survivor.
If you feel differently, no prob. But don't go into the book expecting Darth Vader to be around the corner again. The novel is a tight, character-centric story that is focused on expanding on JFO as opposed to the rest of the universe. That said... watch out for surprising connections!
I won't say this novel is a "must-read" or shook up the foundations of Star Wars. However, if you liked the JFO characters, go read the book. Merrin, Cal, Greez, and Cere are now my little blorbos and I will do anything to keep them safe.
Onto Cataclysm, and hopefully Quest for Planet X soon after.

Awarded FPS Games
In the video game industry, several prizes are given to particular video games, development studios, and other individuals to acknowledge their worth. Most video game awards are given out on an annual foundation.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is truthfully a game title that you don't get a lot of ever again. Based on Star Wars game titles in addition to a myriad of other games that incorporate the story and character beats together with complex puzzles and action to create the top Star Wars game title in years.
Tumblr media
The story follows Cal Kestis (played by Cameron Monaghan). The story occurs five years after the Revenge of the Sith. Beginning in a scrapyard on the planet Bracca, which is where Cal is working to salvage Republic and Separatist goods, the backdrop is brimming with Star Wars features. Scraps of combat droids and pieces of identical copy equipment, as well as ships, are tossed and crashed within the dusty backdrop of a used-for-future. But rather than making use of this style to create an affordable superficial nostalgia, it's designed to develop the characters. Bracca is a place that's been around for a long time, and those who reside and work there are aware of its past. Cal lives in Bracca as a fugitive, but he's not necessarily without good friends. Brauf (played by J.B. Blanc) is actually an old friend of Cal's. He tells the old saying that Bracca seriously isn't the place where he'd like to stay for the rest of his life, that he has to find the actual planet and discover his purpose. This is definitely just the beginning of the numerous sub-surface references to the main topics of the original Star Wars trilogy, about just how someone who will come from the ashes can transform into something. In contrast to the heroes in the films, Cal isn't an all-powerful Jedi, and that's the reason why the video game is a tad challenging at times.
Tumblr media
Gameplay + roles
The most stunning aspect of the entire event is how Star Wars-like it all appears. Although that could perhaps seem like an insignificant statement, everything from how the heroes interact to the music playing across the planets feels like an authentic Star Wars fan service. You'll be able to tell that Respawn worries about the entire Star Wars franchise and that quality of care makes it more enjoyable whether you're a fervent fan or not. "Fallen Order" also feels fantastic on the board. The worlds are dense and intricate, with unique animals adorning the landscapes. They're surprisingly well-structured on top of that, with each and every world being honestly lived in. The majority of people are precise and expressive, with the one exception being the bad Wookie texturing. As previously mentioned, the soundtrack is the ultimate Star Wars and accompanies the world in a similar manner. Likewise, I became amazed by the absence of any reliance on the existing Star Wars templates. Although almost everything surrounding this is solid, the gameplay is really the highlight of Fallen Order. Instead of focusing solely on combat, Fallen Order places a significant emphasis on exploration and movement. "Metroidvania" is a great classification for Fallen Order, because you'll constantly end up introducing the entire world to new possibilities through the abilities you acquire.
Combat
Tumblr media
Combat and battles with enemies are generally made more exciting through the recreation's rest physics. Anytime, enthusiasts visit designated safe areas where they can invest in experience tips and also choose to rest. Resting replenishes well-being, energy, and vigor, along with stamina packs (what BD-1 uses to heal Cal in battle). However, choosing to rest also causes respawns for every enemy that is on the map. This feature won't be anything new for fans of From Software games, but it works remarkably efficiently in this particular scenario and presents players with a major issue to contemplate whenever they play. There are lot of back-tracking across each world's massive map, so taking on precisely the same mini-boss two times is a very legitimate worry. As participants travel around the galaxy and unlock new powers for Cal and fix BD-1's comp link, more paths become accessible. Gates are unlocked, walls can be smashed over, and you can find an abundance of reasons to go back to past places and unrestricted crates that contain items that can be used to customize Cal's lightsaber and clothing, as well as BD-1's paint job and the look of Mantis's appearance. Mantis ship. The planets available are stunning, and it's not difficult to lose track of time exploring every path that is available on them. We used to notice several instances where the game had gotten choppy during an elevator ride or while you opened a door to a new location. The overall game was able to recover fairly rapidly, and there were not any other efficiency problems.
Conclusion
Star Wars is a precious game series, and whenever a new video game comes out, certain hopes and targets come with it. You'll find some excellent games within the series, but it's been a bit of time since they accessed those levels. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order displays fighting that feels firm and impactful, and the exploration of the worlds with imagination gives the player a sense of exploration. This is a great game that's one of the top Star Wars games yet.
Horizon Forbidden West
Horizon Forbidden West follows on from the thrilling events of the original game title, in which our protagonist Aloy discovered the truth about her life and the Zero Dawn project, which was terraforming the planet using robots and dinosaurs in order to make it habitable for humans once more. Nevertheless, because of the destruction of this Zero Dawn challenge and its particular AI Gaia, Aloy is actually right now on the hunt for a replacement for Gaia to prevent another catastrophe (or is it?) that will lead her to a different part of the planet. Furthermore, game developers Guerrilla Games successfully give gratitude to Horizon: Zero Dawn, the first game, because they expanded the myths of the world, which includes Aloy as the main character in their latest epic blockbuster of the next generation.
Tumblr media
Gameplay
The gameplay is actually fantastic It has great puzzle-based 'get from here to the next level' moments that are laced with bow & arrow battles and hand-to-hand combat, all blending flawlessly. The DualSense haptic feedback, in addition to the small speaker in the controller, really applies to the immersion, providing just enough to be dragged into this glorious future apocalypse world. Visually, it's a stunning real-time next-gen game. The landscapes look stunning and precise, while the motion capture of the many characters is truly exceptionally immersive. Upgrading arms occasionally takes rare or renowned supplies, and Forbidden West makes them easy to keep track of. You can make jobs for every upgrade or purchase that you need, and they will always show up on your quest menu. In case you've found a machine website that includes the suited parts, the map will mark where you should move. I had to wait way too much time to decide that I could make tasks instead of having to search for a merchant in Thornmarsh to look at the prerequisite materials for purchasing the only legendary outfit I was looking for. A new feature to Forbidden West's combat is new to the fight is the Valor Surge method. Each skill tree comes with active skills, referred to as "Valor Surges," that you may get access to by unlocking the nearby abilities. The Valor Surges usually start to give you a variety of special effects, such as personal shields or health buffs. At present, only one Valor Surge can be used at a given time, but you can swap them all out alfresco at your discretion when they've been released. I found most of them just didn't suit my sexy play style and I really ended up sticking to the Toughened Valor Surge. It grants me extra overall health and resistance to damage.
Tumblr media
On the subject of its six skill trees, it is possible to find the one that is most suitable for you. It's not just that improving your skills earns you skill points; however, completing missions typically also rewards you with points, making it very easy to unlock more and more know-how in all skill forests that include Trapper Warrior, Hunter, Survivor Infiltrator, Survivor, and Machine Master. Because I was a fan of the quiet way of destroying machines, I invested significantly in the Infiltrator tree, buffing my current stealth skills. For battle, I chose to go with the Survivor forest, growing my defensive strategy capabilities and capacity for medicine.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
Horizon Forbidden West includes everything. I became skeptical to start with because I actually happen to be an avid fan of Guerrilla Games because of the Killzone series and an avid player of Zero Dawn. I simply could not believe that the Forbidden West would meet my expectations. In the first few days of taking part, with occasional glitches in the graphics (now seemingly fixed) or the sporadic hiccup of stumbling over gameplay details or storylines that had become boring in the years since playing the original, I really was not sure it had been planned to reach those heights. However, as the story grew from strength to strength as this brilliant world unfolded in front of my eyes, as I kept iterating over the satisfying game's loop of staring down huge machines, breaking the guns off of giant machines, making giant machines into a huge pile of scraps to take along with their own detached firearm, I really settled into the comfort that made the original the game that it is today. Horizon Forbidden West is every bit as good as, if not better than, Zero Dawn. It is entitled to the same praise. Just complete you personally this favor: if you're able to go back and watch Zero Dawn in its entirety first, then get it done right now. If you can not wait to grab the reins again of the most popular flame-haired Nora, make sure to at least take a look at a "Story thus far" film on YouTube prior to embarking on the next quest. Horizon Zero Dawn was going to be amongst the most enjoyable games of the latest console generation. I don't see any justification for the reason why Horizon Forbidden West is not going to go into the history books among the top games of the current generation.
Ghost of Tsushima
The Host of Tsushima is set in late 13th century Nippon, which was during what's called the Kamakura time period. This was a time when the Shoguns wielded a lot of the legitimate force in Japan, and the Samurai reigned supreme as warriors. The Ghost of Tsushima can walk the excellent line between truth and fiction, honoring the real historical events of the period while weaving an epic tale that is entertaining and plausible. The Mongol head Kublai Khan is truthfully mentioned throughout, as is the fictional Khotun Kahn, who acts as the game's primary antagonist. The protagonist very of the game has a character who is a fictional samurai, Jin Sakai. Jin is the chief of Clan Sakai and is the last person in his direct lineage. His own uncle is definitely Lord Shimura, Jito of Tsushima, and is among the main characters that you meet throughout the Ghost of Tsushima.
Tumblr media
Gameplay and characters
The Ghost of Tsushima really does a good job of touching on these big characters' defining factors and forces the player to think about their choices through the eyes of Jin Sakai, but furthermore, it continues to be the same as a video game and lets players put aside these things if they prefer to just perform. It may not be heavy-handed or boring and is able to truly address questions of privilege, duty, family members, and responsibility without getting bogged down in the notion that it's not fun anymore. The actual game-play loop that is present in Ghost of Tsushima is truthfully someplace between a Far Cry video game and an Assassin's Creed play. Combat is a very dance of stance corrections, dense and easy attacks, smoothly timed parries, and horrible counterattacks. Throwable and ghost weapons like sticky bombs and the kunai are used later, but they aren't required in combat. The bulk of the adventure and exploration can be found in the form of retaking Tsushima's island, Tsushima, from the Mongols, this means taking over Mongol strongholds and camps. This performs a large number of like-present Far Cry names, with the participant including solid liberty to select a stealthy approach or to walk in and take on the enemy head-on. The video game will do an excellent job of reinforcing Jin's evolving tactics and nature as gamers fight to free the island. Jin's character is portrayed as changing as the story performs alfresco and the reactions of his own buddies also change. In the beginning, Jin is clumsy and slow-moving whenever attacking stealth due to his inexperience with the methods. As the gamer upgrades his own weapons and tools and weapons, which are in perfect harmony throughout the story, displaying Jin's becoming more confident and gaining self-esteem in his being the "Ghost", his attacks end up being more fluid and quieter. They are also more effective. The game's beginning stages will provide the player with recollections of kills that occurred during stealth or while utilizing some of the "dishonorable" instruments one acquires throughout the course of the game. These flashbacks provide Jin as a young boy, understanding the art that he learned from the Samurai from his father and confirm the war which is raging within Jin when he is trying to accommodate the honor and help the people of Tsushima. I really enjoyed the plot of this game, and the transformation of Jin Sakai from samurai to phantom is deeply moving, entertaining, and well-retold.
Tumblr media
The game is definitely among the absolute most graphically awesome of our time. The illumination is actually fantastic, especially in the early morning and evening. Also, the dappled sunshine through the dense forest leaves never becomes dull. Character design is excellent, although just under the quality of other recent Sony exclusives like God of War and Spider-Man. Traversing through trails and places will usually cause Jin's clothing and boots to be covered in dirt. This can ramp up to be just about "Arnold in Predator" sheathed from head to toe if people spend time rolling and bouncing around the battlefield.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
The Ghost of Tsushima possesses a black-and-white "Kurosawa" mode. It's known for the well-known Japanese samurai movie director, Akira Kurosawa, but its inclusion is more intriguing than practical, and most users will probably enjoy the game's colors and landscapes much too much to wish to convert them all to grayscale for the duration of the game. It also has Japanese in addition to English voice tracks, as well as options for customizing the HUD for players that desire to assassinate the few prompts on screen that do pop up, and has the Photo Mode. If there's a single criticism that players may have, the issue is this: Ghost of Tsushima once in a while inclines to a "follow these footsteps on the ground" game structure too often in some side quests. However, it is one small flaw in an otherwise relaxing game-play loop. There aren't many possibilities totally "new" to be found in Ghost of Tsushima, although it's likely that players haven't encountered various navigation options as stimulating to utilize as Tsushima's Guiding Wind, or been involved in a peaceful activity like writing haiku as they sit next to a waterfall, or preparing to prepare for battle really frequently. It's the method by which Ghost of Tsushima offers characteristics players are familiar with but not familiar with, which makes it a nice affair as well as something that enthusiasts will desire to continue actively playing long after the credits have ended. The Ghost of Tsushima is the most enjoyable Assassin's Creed game you can find and is likely to be one of the closest players will ever be able to experience exactly what it's like to become the samurai of 11th-century Nippon.

STAR WARS TOP 10 CHARACTERS AND RELATIONSHIPS (PART 2)
4) ASHOKA TANO ( + OBI-WAN AND ANAKIN = THE ORIGINAL TRIO)
Tumblr media
While Ashoka on her own deserves the spot and I would normally slide Obi-Wan in the next position and I already pretty much gave Anakin Skywalker a position on the list I felt the need to stack them here not only because their family/friendship bond is one of the best in the entire saga but I also feel that these three really shine the most when put together!
While there are other noticeable characters from her species, Ashoka is the ultimate Togruta pride! Badass, sassy, awesome and wields the double lightsaber in the reverse grip like no one else. She goes from impertinent and immature kid to possibly the most mystical, wise and strong character of all. While never appearing in the movies, Ashoka is always there, snaking her way through all the major events of the Galaxy, facing the complexities and contradictions of each in her unique way. If Obi-Wan is the true Jedi, the one that marries completely the rules, responsibilities and philosophy of his title in it's purest form, Ashoka still pretty much manages to do the same while walking away from the order and its doctrine. They both represent what Jedi should be, the legendary figures the normal people in the Galaxy need and can place their faith in. In many ways, I think what doomed Anakin Skywalker (beyond a lifelong brainwashing from Palpatine) is that he was caught in the middle. He saw all the faults and corruption in the order and couldn't embrace it like his master but couldn't even cut ties like his padawan. Ashoka also gets cookie points for giving Anakin retribution headaches for all those he gave Obi-Wan throughout his own training.
5) R2D2 & C3PO =
Tumblr media
Repeat after me: droids are better than humans! Star Wars really does seem to firmly make a point of this since almost all droids introduced in the series are awesome! BB8, Chopper, IG-11, HK-47 (ok, he's not canon, but he's so cool and fun he at least deserves a mention), you name it, but nobody takes the cake quite like these two. They have truly stuck together through thick and thin, countless masters and the most suicidal missions always managing to come out on top. If you think about it, they have witnessed all the dramatic, key events of the Galaxy of their age first hand and have contributed to its history more than any singular hero/villain. The fact that they manage to keep their bolts together through not one but THREE generations of Skywalker drama should already be considered an incredible feat in and out of itself but they do that while remaining the most hilarious and consistent characters of the saga. Their "love /can't bare you" relationship is both hilarious and heartwarming and their personality is so fully fleshed out that at times their reaction to situations is more grounding and relatable than the humans'. These reasons and the fact that they are inextricably bonded to the Skywalker family, almost acting like their guardian angels or family spirits are proof that these two deserve this spot on the list. The force disappoints, R2 and 3PO do not. May the droids be with you!
6) Cal Kestis & BD1 =
Tumblr media
All hail the Poncho boy. Right off the bat I'm going to admit something: I have a type and my type is cute redheads. That said, I am very biased when considering Cal but I do honestly have solid reasons for placing him on the list. Not only was Cal caught in the whirlpool that was order66 at an incredibly young age, he has carried himself as a Jedi at heart throughout the entire time he was forced into hiding with an incredibly humble and kind personality holding dear the true principals of the order but he also managed to make incredibly difficult and brave decisions at the end of Jedi: Fallen Order. Cal has an incredibly rare force gift that sets him aside from the rest and a capacity to forgive and believe in others that matches Luke Skywalker's. And his adorable little droid that spends the entire game mostly perched on his shoulder is a perfect counterpart. While talking only in binary BD-1's sweet, loyal and hopeful personality really manages to shine through. I already said that droids are amazing but BD's willing sacrifice to forget his original master fully believing in Cal's ability to come through with the holocron mission even before knowing him really sets him aside from this already incredible category. Also, and it must be said, Cal delivers one of my favourite lines ever "I'm trash, just not approved trash". Oh boy do I hope EAgames and Ubisoft pull out a sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order, I just can't wait to get more of these two!

Iɴ ᴛʜᴇ Nɪɢʜᴛ
“ Late night conversations always seem to hold more weight and teach you more about a person than you knew before. They seem to reach a deeper more truthful form of honesty than talking to someone during the day. “ Word Count: 3452 Requested: no. i just... seriously appreciate this character.

                      .✫*゚・゚。.★.*。・゚✫*
Sleep seemed to follow you around, but never catch you. You weren’t running from it, you weren’t even teasing it in some way. Hell, you were standing still and sleep was still trailing behind. So, if anything, it was the one teasing you.
It had no affect on your demeanor or travels. Your shots were just as precise as ever, your agility never wavering. While you may have felt sluggish, it was confined only to the inside, and your movements were as fluid as before. Your irises did not dull from exhaustion. Skin did not pale, throat did not dry. Food didn’t become ash, water was no more a necessity than it was before. It was all the same.
This bothered you more than if the lack of sleep actually took a toll on your life. If it had, that would’ve at least meant that it was possible for you to sleep. It meant that you had to sleep at some point. But with life going on the same, it left you to wonder if you were now bound to a life without some shut eye. It was like torture. No, it was torture.
“You alright?” Greez asked at breakfast. It was your fourth day without sleep, fifth night.
The Latero piles some yellow, scrambled food onto his plate heavily, looking up at you as his beady eyes. “I’m fine,” you assured as you took your own fill. It wasn’t as much as Greez’s, but that was okay. He was always hungry.
“You sure? I thought I heard some noises from your room,” he continues.
“Don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Alright, alright,” Greez says. One of his four hands waves you off as you take your plate and turn towards the table. “Just keep it down next time, eh?”
“Oh, I’ll do my best.”
You take a seat, your boots scuffing the floor slightly. Cal raises an eyebrow at you as his chewing comes to a slow. A few wisps of hair had fallen around your face with your movement, but that wasn’t what had intrigued him so.
“You were making noises last night?” Cal asked, his spoon half raised. His pale orbs were trained on you, pink lips flushed.
“I guess so,” you said, without looking at him. In truth, you had been messing with your sniper when a shock burned your finger and you knocked over your chair. While you prayed no one heard the commotion, it was clear the endeavor had failed.
You stuff your mouth with a big bite of the yellow stuff. It wasn’t Greez’s best work by any means, but it was hot and better than many other things you had eaten in your life.
You were a bounty hunter, hired to help Cere Junda and the Latero on their quest. It helped having extra ammunition and someone to help out in combat... and, of course, someone to be the deciding voice in arguments.
You didn’t care too much for their mission in the beginning. The Jedi Order was made up of a bunch of cruel and ignorant fools who were responsible for more taken lives than saved ones. But while you weren’t big on helping these people, you were big on the pay Cere offered.
Over time, you actually came to enjoy the pairs presence. Greez was fun to joke around with, and Cere had interesting stories. The both of them respected you for your quiet demeanor and efficient skills. When you ran into trouble, you were the defense. All was well.
Then Cal Kestis joined the crew. “Okay,” you thought. “A real Jedi this time, that’s fine.” And it was. You never really had a problem with each other- in fact, you found him quite attractive. You always had a weakness for redheads, of course. But the words spoken between you and the Jedi were always short and necessary, never for pleasure.
You weren’t sure why this was. He had saved your life several times, and you had saved him in turn. Even when you thanked each other sincerely, things felt stiff. Perhaps you were intimidated by him for what he was, or maybe he felt discouraged by you for what you had surely done in the past. Suppose it didn’t matter at all, and you were just forever destined to feel anxious about looking him in the eye.
“You sleep okay?” Cal further inquired, finally taking another bite. His eyes were still glued to you, taking in your profile. It was a very nice one, in his opinion.
“Yeah,” you quickly lied. “You?”
Cal looked up and down, from your lips to your upper lashes. He could sense you were lying, though he wasn’t sure to what extent. “Yeah,” he eventually said. “Yeah, I slept fine.”
You didn’t need to be a Jedi to feel that Cal was lying too. You met his eyes briefly, taking note of the multicolored flecks in the iris’s. It mesmerized you, their color. Somewhere between green and blue and grey. They were like their own little planets, circling in miniature orbits and glowing in white light.
Greez lumbers into his own chair. “I am starving,” he grumbles. One of his hands goes to reach for some spice, causing your eyes to snap away from Cal’s. “Mmm-mmm. You won’t believe what I’ve cooked up today.”
You loaded another bite into your mouth, glancing at Cal from the side.
He was no longer focused on you, instead shifting his eyes about food and Greez. Locks of his fluffy, orange hair fell out of place. His long eyelashes looked soft as he gazed down. Faint freckles faded in and out with the shadows. Little divots in his lips were like details of a painting.
“Well, thanks for breakfast, Greez,” he said.
“Course, kid.”
.✫*゚・゚。.★.*。・゚✫*
Sleep continued to evade you for three more nights. Your normal mood did not budge nor falter, much to your silent frustration.
You felt more anxious around Cal than usual. Seeing him made something in your stomach spark and fly around, daring to escape your throat in a series of coughs. His eyes seemed more piercing, skin paler. Easier to catch your eye. His voice rang clearer, muscles seemed more noticeable. It was like he was standing out against your reality now, forcing you to see him.
This was no fault of his or yours, nor the lack of sleep. It was simply a fit of anxiety that impaled your air and haunted your thoughts.
You catch the wooden ball in your palm, then throw it back into the air. Laying with an arm behind your head and your other hand in the air, your muscles still feel tense. It wasn’t under the weight of your armor, but the weight of stress. You missed sleep so much. You missed dreaming.
The next time the ball is caught in your hand, you do not toss it upwards. Instead, the ungloved part of your thumb runs over it subtly. A sigh escapes you as you memorize the swirling pattern within. How could something so small and simple evolve into something so complicated?
Narrowing your eyes slightly, you let your fingers go lax. The ball floats up and away as if on invisible strings, setting itself somewhere on your desk. This did not faze you in the slightest, as it was something small you had been able to do since you were young.
You sit upright. Your eyes flit over to your door as a thought crosses your mind, daring you to answer it.
.✫*゚・゚。.★.*。・゚✫*
“Cal?” you ventured out softly. You did not wish to wake Greez or Cere as well. “I know your awake,” you said. You could feel his presence from the inside of his chest.
There’s a pause, then the crackling sound of a chair creaking up. Faint footsteps coming closer and closer... finally! The door whizzes open with a beep. Cal’s eyes widen slightly at the sight of you, his lips parting slightly. “You’re awake,” he observes, almost to himself.
You partly want to make a sarcastic remark, but your relationship truly isn’t comfortable to do that yet. “So are you,” you say in return. Your left fingers pick at its nails, chipping at the black polish.
Cal is still in his day attire. A hand rustles the harness on his chest, while the other arm leans against the doorway, above his head at the forearm. “Fair enough,” he says nervously, with a small smile and breath.
“I uh...” you look down, shuffling your boots. You can’t believe the words you’re about to force yourself to say. “I couldn’t sleep.”
“Ah, just having one of those nights, huh?” he says with another nervous breath.
“Yeah,” you mutter. “One of those nights.”
Cal has known somethings been off with you. He can recognize the signs of sleep deprivation, no matter how good you were at hiding it. He can’t remember how many nights he’s spent wide awake, thinking of his old life and his losses. Sometimes it would last for weeks at a time without stealing anything from him, which bothered him to the greatest amount.
Sleep was precious, though it seemed people like you and him were fated to live without it. It was somewhere between a cruelty and a blessing, resulting in a painful and cursed way to live for long periods of time.
“I guess I was just bored,” you began to say, though Cal started speaking at the same time.
“You want somebody to talk to?”
You locked gazes, butterflies fluttering around in your chest. There it was- the anxiousness. It was drumming inside the both of you now.
“Sorry I didn’t mean-”
“Sorry-”
Your eyes widen further.
Cal smiles softly, his own chest swelling. “Need someone to talk to?” he repeats kindly.
“I do,” you nod, your shoulders sinking with his politeness.
Cal moves out of the way, closing the door behind you as you look around. “Hey BD-1,” you say. The droid beeps and whirls around excitedly, bouncing between legs.
“Yeah, Buddy. I know,” Cal says. The droid gives a long beep in response, prompting a little smile to cross your lips. “It’ll only be for the night, BD. You can go back to sleep.” The droid whirs again before stilling himself.
“Sorry about him,” Cal offers as he turns to look at you with hands on his hips. “Just gets excited about visitors.”
“No, it’s okay,” you say sincerely. While the anxiety hasn’t left, your heart is warmed by the interaction between BD-1 and Cal.
Cal watches you silently for a moment, examining your details. Part of you is wondering if he can read your thoughts, while the other is concerned he’s mapping out how ugly you actually are.
He shakes his head, remembering himself. “Uh, you can sit anywhere,” he offers, gesturing around.
You glance behind you to Cal’s “bed”. A slab of metal with a comforter and blanket and a pillow, similar to your own. Upon sitting on it, however, you find that his is much comfier. It feels soft on your bum and you wonder how it would feel against the other muscles of your body, if you could get tangled up in it.
“Is something on your mind?” the Jedi asks curiously, his pale eyes gazing into yours. You can’t tell if it’s the shade or not, but they always look like they’re searching for something. No matter who or what they’re looking at. It was, in a word, mesmerizing.
Then you feel intimidated by him all over again. Cal was a Jedi. The Jedi were good. Your work as a mercenary... often led you down a different path. Cal made you feel guilty, even if he hadn’t done anything too obscene. You’d never killed a child, you’d never killed anyone who didn’t deserve to die. But Cal didn’t kill anyone at all- unless they were servants of the Empire, of course.
“Nothing,” you said instead, eyes wide to give away your lie. You felt so mesmerized and entranced with the person in front of you, intimidated and unworthy.
“So you’re up because of nothing?” Cal questions, fingers dancing at their spot on his hips. When you don’t answer, seemingly stuck in between the aquamarine flecks of his Cal’s eyes, he continues his dialogue. “And if I don’t believe you?”
You take control of yourself with a snap. “When have you ever known me to be a liar?” you joke nervously, hoping he doesn’t feel it. You let out a breathy sigh as you speak.
“Since the moment you came in here,” he says softly. And you think he looks like the most beautiful person in the galaxy.
You’re at a loss for words again, for multiple reasons.
“Can I ask you something?” Cal questions.
Now, it’s not a big deal to ask for permission to do something. Sometimes it’s just a minimal, polite line. But for you, in this particular instance, it means everything. He’s not just saying it to say it, or because it flows nicely. Cal Kestis is asking permission because he actually cares if you’re comfortable with what’s about to happen or not.
You nod without skipping a beat.
“What was your life like?” the boy asks. “Before the Empire?”
Cal’s eyes flit down to watch your hands ball into tight fists at your knees. Your sweaty palms burn with the friction. Life before the Empire...? Well, you were young when it came about.
“I was alone,” you start, looking down and averting your gaze. Nobodies really asked about your childhood before, and the fact that Cal has both asked for permission and the question is almost overwhelming. Such a subtle and simple amount of kindness from the right person, can sometimes grow larger than it should. “I guess I was born on Nal Hutta. I don’t really remember my parents or anything.”
“You were born outside the bounds of the Republic?” Cal asks, almost with disbelief. He steps forward once with urgency.
“Not everyone has the luxury of being born within it,” you say quietly.
“What about your parents?” the boy further speaks.
You take in a breath, your shoulders dropping farther. You look up to meet his gaze again, and you tell him, “I don’t know.”
Cal feels bad for asking. He knew it wasn’t any of his business, but he’d pushed anyway. He should not have brought it up.
The Jedi can feel your sadness creeping through you. It starts in your chest, right at your heart. From each of the strings, it moves outward like waves on a shore, slowly washing up and away. When it reaches your veins, it spurs faster, making your hands feel cold and your toes wiggle for warmth in your boots.
“I, uh...” Cal crosses to the bench next to his bed. It’s just to your right, closer to the door and surrounded by some shelves of trinkets. He sits down on it slowly, keeping his eyes away from yours out of guilt. “I didn’t know my parents either. If that helps.”
You peak up at him. A smile a little as you watch the nervous young man. “It doesn’t help, but thanks.”
Cal looks up at you, scared that you’re angry. But you’re smiling! Making a weak attempt at a joke! He lets his lips turn upwards as well, just as soft as your own.
“What about you?” you venture in return, attempting to ease the awkwardness away. “What was life like before the Jedi?”
Cal sighs out and leans forward, elbows on his knees as he thinks. Then he snaps back upright and moves his head slightly as he talks, in that cute little way that he does. “Can’t say I remember,” he says. “The Jedi took force sensitives when they were young so they could train them before it’s too late.”
“Too late?” you question. The memory of all the times you’d been able to push and pull things away from you pops into your mind, but you usher it away before you think about it too hard.
“Well, the theory is the older they are, the more difficult they’ll be to train.”
“And you? Were you difficult to train?”
Cal wouldn’t be surprised if someone described him as a brat in his youth, even if he had gone out of his way to avoid that. “I sure hope not,” he admits.
He snaps his head up after out of fear. His words are like a confession of some kind, and he feels more vulnerable than before. He feels more vulnerable with you now than anybody else, and it’s disturbing because you’re relationship has been so blocked up until this point.
He knows you feel it too, but you’re smiling softly again because you want to make him feel comfortable. Returning the favor to some degree. “I don’t think you were difficult to train,” you muse. “I bet you were a softie.”
Cal’s smile cracks through, and it’s the realest one he’s given in a while. “So what does that make you? A... a hard-y?”
Your face stills. Your eyes light up and sparkle as a big grin comes over you. The laughter falls from your lips, slipping past the fingers that raised to stop it. It’s musical and full of life, making anyone’s black and white picture of you illuminate like a rainbow and kaleidoscope.
The redheads smile gets bigger as he watches you. He likes seeing you laugh, and he likes knowing that he’s the one that’s made it possible. You look peaceful and true, even though it’ll only last a few seconds.
Your chuckle dies down soon enough, but Kestis still wishes it had lasted longer. “Maker, don’t ever use that word again,” you sigh out. Your head rolls back against the wall, giving the Jedi a good view of your throat and jaw.
“You’re a good man, Cal.”
Your tone is sincere, and your face is wiped clean as a show of honesty. You continue to gaze up at the ceiling before your eyes roll over to watch him. Cal glances down, and then back up at you. His throat feels dry and parched all of a sudden, for the warmth of your words has the ability to make everything else evaporate.
Cal’s big, broad shoulders heave up and down once before he speaks. “Am I?”
Your eyes twitch in curiosity, silently urging him to continue as he’s peaked your interest. Of course Cal was a good person. Probably one of the best there was. He was thoughtful and quiet, and had the ability to empathize with anything and everyone. Even when he doubted himself, his insight was valued and made clear.
Cal continues. “My master died because of me. If I had been better, maybe I could’ve saved him. And sometimes I just... I just think back on it. I get stuck in it. Then I can’t breathe.”
“I thought Jedi couldn’t have emotions,” you said stupidly, half to yourself.
“We’re not supposed to,” Cal admits. “But sometimes I just feel so-”
You cut him off, just as he’s about to say the word ‘angry’. “To have feelings is to be human, Cal.”
Cal shakes his head, which is still dropped down in disappointment, and the weight of it. “I’m supposed to be better than that.”
“Nobodies better than that, Cal. Truly. If they were, none of us would be here.”
Cal looks up to meet your eyes. The truth in them, the sincerity, the empathy is undeniable. Too many people in the galaxy spread hollow words as easy as air, and maybe you’re one of them. But these words aren’t hollow. You believe them. That’s just about enough credibility and kindness to make anybody woozy with disbelief.
“Don’t you ever wonder if you’re a good person, too?” he dares to ask. Another bold way of overstepping bounds, but it’s too late and full of darkness to stop either of you.
Cal feels the weight sink into your stomach. Your eyes drop again. “I think it’s a little late for me to wonder about myself at this point. I already have my answer.”
“I don’t think you’re so bad,” Cal says, without thinking. “I don’t think you’re so bad at all.”
When you look up at him again, it feels like the first time. It feels like what should’ve happened the first time. It feels steady and real, and like if you guys do it right, the time that you guys can fall in love for real. Cal would certainly like to. Would you?
You would. But not now.
“You’re not so bad either,” you promise softly. And for the next moment, Cal’s eyes don’t leave yours as you form your bond in the dead of night, this time in the right way.
