“You only won that game because of me, stop boosting.” Renjun watched his friends argue over nonsense as they rode up the elevator to haechans apartment. “Bullshit, you didn’t do a damn thing.”
They stepped off the elevator still arguing, “Enough.” Renjun shushed them both. “You’re both pretty, give it a rest.” They switched to arguing over who was pretty, to which he shook his head ignoring them as they walked down the hall.
“Where are you?” Renjun turned his upon hearing your voice, you were standing in front of the door, tears streaming down your face. “Because you won’t give me a key, now i’m locked out of our apartment, and you’re too busy with another girl to come let me in.” They all turned to you — you noticed to putting your hand to your mouth, whispering. “I look stupid crying, there are people walking past.”
They quickly turned making there way to the end of the hall where haechan lived. “Why doesn’t she have the key to her own house.” Jaemin, mostly likely high out his mind said, completely unaware of how loud he was. “Shut up.” Renjun slapped his arm, walking into haechans unlocked apartment.
“Wassup!” haechan yelled, his small apartment already drowning in the scent of weed and smoke. “Jesus haechan how many did you already smoke.” Jeno sat down on the couch. “Not enough, did you bring it?” Renjun threw the green substance at him. “You owe me 30 fucking dollars you ass.” He snapped, the boy had sent him on a run, thinking it was only 10 dollars, when in reality it was 30 dollars. “Thank you renjunnie.”
They all sat around, jeno began rolling up the weed into blunts, renjun mind went back to you, you seemed to live there, so why didn’t you have a key? Did you loose it? So why don’t you just go to maintenance?
Seems like jaemin had the same question, cause he soon spoke up. “Haechan, whose the pretty girl crying in front of the apartment down the hall?” Renjun rolled his eyes. “Who the fuck- Oh that’s y-n, she’s crying again?” Again? This was a reoccurring thing. “Again?” Jeno read his mind.
“Yeah, this happens at least once a month, her boyfriend is an asshole and won’t get her a key, so she’s constantly getting locked out.” He explained. “Why won’t she just go to maintenance and get one?” haechan shrugged. “He doesn’t let her do anything alone, i’m surprised she is out of the apartment while he’s not there, I don’t think she had class today.”
“What?” Renjun finally spoke up. “I don’t know, she doesn’t seem to go out without him unless she’s going to class, she’s our age too, he’s like 28 and everytime I see him, I see her follow behind him” Haechan said. “He’s trash though, I hear him always yelling at her over dumb shit, cheating on her.” Renjun felt himself getting upset – why stay with a person if you’re gonna treat them like that. “and she stays? Haechan shrugged. “Somedays I hear her leaving and then she doesn’t come home for a few days, but then she’s right back here, she’s real forgiving, a bit of an air head, sweet girl though.” He passed the blunt to renjun.
“I’m good.” Haechan retracted his hand with a “suit yourself.” Renjun couldn’t stop thinking about how the tears rolled down your face, as you begged for you sorry excuse for a boyfriend to come home. “Jun? you okay?” Jeno asked, he stood up. “Where are you going?” Jaemin asked.
“To go see if she got into the apartment, where else.” He said, haechan past the blunt to jaemin. “Be careful, her boyfriend isn’t only an asshole to her, he’s an asshole in general.” Renjun definitely wasn’t scared of a coward who treats women like trash. “I’ll be back.”
“Where are you?” You barely waited for your boyfriend to answer. “I’m on my way I swear, geez why are you calling so much.” You heard him slur his words, music playing in the background. “because you won’t give me a key, and now im locked out of our apartment.” You said, tears wielding in your eyes again. “hey come here.” You heard a females voice in the back. “and you’re too busy with another girl to let me in.”
You watched three boys walk past you, furthering your embarrassment. “and I look like a fool crying.”
“Then stop being such a crybaby, I told you i’ll be home soon, why do you need a key so bad, you don’t even leave the house often, why waste money on a key.” He yelled over the music. “You don’t let me out the house.” You here his slam down another drink. “Because you can barely do anything without my help, you’d get hit by a car if it wasn’t for me, don’t be an idiot.” He yelled. “Now stay there, i’ll be home soon.” Before you could say something, you heard the click of the phone.
You sighed, sliding down the door defeated. You don’t understand why you still stay, your boyfriend used to be a good person — or maybe he wasn’t and you were just blinded by his love bombing that you didn’t notice the red flags, but whatever it was, he didn’t used to be like that, that was the only reason you felt comfortable moving into an apartment went him, but that’s when things went to shit.
He began to come home late night, drunk and covered in hickeys, apologizing over and over, until he didn’t even apologize, instead he’d just say, “I came home to you, that’s all that matters.”
You knew how he treated you wasn’t good, but you were always a people pleaser, putting everyone before you — seeing the good in everyone, and even though everyone else fails to see the good in your boyfriend, you believe he’s somewhere in there.
“Are you okay?” a voice pulls you from your inner thoughts, your eyes travel upwards, meeting his eyes. It was one of the boys who walked past you. “Hi.” You stood up, brushing off your skirt. “I’m fine.” You spoke. “Are you locked out?” He pretended that he didn’t know anything, you looked at the door, then back to him, he was cute. “Yeah.”
“Do you have a hair pin or something?” You reached into your bag, moving things around, searching. “Uh, here.” You said, he took it from you, your hands touching, he gave you a slight smile, “could you…” He motioned for you to move. “Oh o-okay.” You stepped to the side.
You watched him work on the door, he wiggled it around a bit – until you hear a click, the door was unlocked. He pushed the door open, and the reason you were even crying, came running out the door. “peaches!” The dog jumped into your arms, licking your face. “oh baby you must be so hungry.” He watched your eyes light up, biting back a smile.
You turned to him, he handed you back the hair pin. “How did you do that? You aren’t a criminal are you?” He shook his head. “no, but my friend is an idiot who gets locked out of his bedroom a absurd number of times.” You smiled. “Thank you so much, you really saved me today, my poor peaches must’ve been so scared.” He nodded watching you pet the dog.
“I really wish I could pay you back some how.” He shook his head. “I have some money, hold on.” He quickly stopped you. “it’s fine, don’t worry about it, no one should stand out like that, plus now you can feed your dog, that’s enough for me.” You hummed. “You’re a godsend.” You said.
The dog began to whimper in your arms. “Okay peaches, let’s get you some food, say goodbye to the nice man.” Renjun patted the dogs head. “goodbye peaches.” He said. “And it was nice to meet you…” you said waiting for his name. “oh it’s renjun.” You smiled, “it was nice to meet you renjun, i’m yn.” He nodded. “Same to you.” You waved, walking into your house. “bye bye.” He waved back, waiting for you to close the door, before making his way back to haechans apartment. “did you fix it captain save a pretty girl.”
He rolled his eyes, sitting back down. “thanks to jaemin being a dumbass i got the door open using a bobby-pin.” Jaemin smiled, eyes hardly open. “You’re welcome.” He past renjun the blunt. “can you finally stop worrying and smoke with us?” he took the blunt from his friends hand — shit he paid 30 bucks for it.
They all stumbled out of haechans apartment, trying to make it downstairs before the uber got there. “I’m hungry.” Jaemin slurred, “me too.” Jeno said. He walked past your apartment, eyes squinting as he heard yelling coming from the other side of the door. “seems like her boyfriend is home — let’s go before the uber leaves.” Jeno said, renjun looked back at the door, before stepping into the elevator.
“You got into the house, what’s the big fucking deal?” your boyfriend yelled, the dog barked in your defense. “The big deal is someone had to basically break into our apartment because you were too busy fucking other girls to come and let me in.” You said back, he didn’t even deny it, groaning. “Jesus yn, you’re acting so controlling.” He says, “it’s not my fault you don’t go out, but you won’t stop me from living my life.”
“I don’t go out because you don’t let me!” You shouted, “Whatever, i’m going to bed, i’ll let you act like a baby on your own.” He stumbled back to your shared bedroom. “girls like you are so needy.”
You sighed, sitting on the couch — peaches climbed into your lap, cuddling into you. You thought about where everyone went wrong, how you got to this point. Then your mind slowly drifted to the nice boy who helped you earlier — it had been a while since a boy was the slightest bit nice to you, it felt girl. “I think he’s friends with that boy down the hall, he doesn’t seem as weird as him though.” You spoke to the dog, “He’s sweet.” You smiled to yourself, laying down.
“let’s sleep out here tonight.” You grabbed the blanket, the dog cuddled to your side. “night peaches.” You closed your eyes, drifting off to sleep, your mind on the boy with the lip ring who was your knight and shining armor.
Renjun hated his job at the café, it quite literally sucked ass — but somebody had to pay half rent and fund jaemins weed problem.
“Welcome to sm café how can I help you?” he said not looking up from the tablet. “What do you want?” His mind immediately took notice of the soft voice, his eye coming into contact with you. “oh?” You finally took notice of who was in front of you. “Renjun?” You smiled, almost forgetting your boyfriend was there.
“What can I get you?” Your boyfriend spoke up. “Two ice americanos, and a slice of chocolate cake.” You grimaced. “I don’t like ice americanos, I want hot chocolate.” You said, your boyfriend ignored you. “The cake alone is too much sugar, you’re already getting chubby.” Renjun wanted to jump over the counter and punch the man as he watched you step back, lowering your head.
“You got that?” the man asked him rudely, he looked at you – you shook your head. “two ice americanos and a chocolate cake.” He typed it in, “here or to go?” Your boyfriend turned to you. “Here.” You said meekly. “I don’t understand why, but here – go find a table.” You quietly walked away. “Girls man, so fucking annoying.” He watched your boyfriend laughed. “you get it don’t you?”
Renjun rung up the card, handing it back to the asshole in front of him. “No.”
You sat down at the table in the back, you watch your boyfriend laugh at something, handing a stoic renjun his card, his face made you laugh, your boyfriend was never a funny person. You lowered your smile as your boyfriend sat down. “What a bum kid, why come to work if you’re not gonna be happy.”
“Well he does get paid like 5 dollars an hours so.” Your boyfriend eyed you. “He should be grateful, you younger kids never want to work.” You squint your eyes. “you’re 27.”
“Why are you defending him, now that I think about you seemed so surprised, you know that kid?” You could see where this was going, and you definitely didn’t want it to be in public. “He’s friends with the haechan.” Your boyfriend shrugged. “Who?” You shook your head. “Don’t worry, he’s just the one who helped me get into the apartment.”
“He’s the someone?” he put the emphasis on the he. “I mean it wasn’t like I had a choice, peaches was scratching at the door.” You said. “Whatever.” You could tell he was jealous, by the way he pulled his phone out, closing you out. “all he did was help.” You said. “I said whatever drop it.” So you did, not wanting to get loud in public.
“Here you go.” Renjun came over holding a tray, sitting your things on the table. “Two americanos and a chocolate cake.” You nodded. “Thank you.” You smiled, he felt like he could go on for the rest of the day. “You’re welcome.”
Your boyfriend scoffed, once renjun walked away. “What?” you said, he put his phone away. “You seem so fond of him.” He took a sip of his drink, standing up, “wait where are you going? You said you’d stay until you have to go to work?” you frowned. “I suddenly got called in, you can stay, don’t waste that, call an uber home.” Before you could answer, he was leaving out the café door.
“What a fucking asshole.” Renjun turned to his co-worker. “Who?” he asked, looking around. “That couple over there, he just got up and left her.” He followed their eyes to you. “She looks so sweet, how she get stuck with a dick like that.”
Renjun saw your sad face as you picked with your cake, with a frown as you took a sip of your drink, grimacing at taste. “She didn’t even want that.” He said to himself. “What?” he shook his head. “i’m gonna make a hot chocolate and take my lunch break.”
‘I’m going out tonight, don’t wait up’ you closed out the message, not bothering to answer, getting extremely frustrated at your situation. “here.” A cup with steam was sat in front of you. “The hot chocolate you wanted.” Renjun sat in the seat where your boyfriend sat.
“You didn’t have to.” You said, “Don’t worry about, owner gives us a free drink every day.” You smiled, taking a sip. “Thank you.” He nodded. “it seems like I keep owing you for doing things.” You chuckle to yourself, he thought it was cute. “You seemed like you needed it anyway.”
You frowned, “I guess it’s pretty obvious.” You said. “That your boyfriend is a dick?” you chuckled, he smiled. “yeah I guess.” You said. “He wasn’t always like that though.”
“I believe you.” He said, “some people change, whether it’s good or bad, they change.” You nodded. “I guess.” He didn’t know you that well, but he just wanted to wrap his arms around you and hold you close to him. “Renjun! Your 15 minutes are up, let’s go!” he cursed under his breath, wanting to sit with you longer.
“it looks like duty calls.” You smiled at him, he got up. “are you gonna be here longer?” he asked. “I think i’m gonna finish this and then head home.” He nodded. “Renjun!” he turned to his coworker. “I’m coming!” you chuckled, “go before you get in trouble.” He smiled, you waved him off.
“Bye renjun.” You waved on your way out. “Bye yn.” He watched you get into your uber. “here.” His coworker slapped a tissue on the counter. “What is it?” he picked it up, reading the number. “I assumed she didn’t leave it for me.” He stuffed the tissue into his pocket, fighting back a smile as he got back to work, his mind full of you getting him through the rest of his shift.
He texted you that same night once he got home, you had told him that you were waiting for his call, which made his heart flutter — both of you talked and talked all evening, until jaemin came bursting through his door talking about hitting the bong with jeno, to which made you chuckle. “Ooh are you talking to a girl?” jaemin said in a singsong voice.
“Get the fuck out.” Renjun threw a pillow at the boy. “Hurry before it’s all gone.” He closed the door. “He seems fun.” Renjun scoffed. “he’s annoying.”
“we’ll i’ll let you go smoke with your friends.” He was gonna kill jaemin, you had mentioned earlier how you didn’t really enjoy the smell or the feeling of weed. “I don’t do it often I swear.” He felt like he had to prove it to you. “don’t worry i’m not a cop.” he smiled. “i’ll talk to you soon, I have to go feed peaches.” You said. “okay, I call you soon, tell peaches I said hello.”
“will do, bye renjun.”
“you ruin everything.” Renjun stepped out into the living room. “did I?” he said, “or does the fact she has a boyfriend ruin everything?” jaemin past him the bong. “Both.” He took a drag.
“Jesus he is a fucking asshole.” Jeno said, renjun had explained what happened today with you and your boyfriend. “Exactly, he is horrible.” He was livid just explaining it, you didn’t deserve that at all. “and she gave you her number.” He nodded. “I say go for it, her boyfriend is shit.” Jeno shrugged.
Upon hearing that from his friend, he tried to get to know you through text and calls — he learned so much about you, you were studying to be a teacher, you loved kids and it was your life’s dream to be a teacher. He also learned that peaches was your dog that your mother gave you before you moved out, that’s why you loved her so much.
Your text and calls, soon turned into FaceTime calls while you studied, or cleaned your room — he even accidentally called you while you were getting dressed, to which you quickly told him you’d call him right back, both of you spent hours talking to each other, growing closer and closer.
“When are you coming back to the café?” He sat on his bed, watching you crotchet a new plushie, on any other occasion, this would’ve bored him, but watching you look so happy while doing something you loved made him happy.
“Why? You miss me?” you teased he smiled. “Mmh, I do.” He said, watching you shy away. “s-stop it.” You said trying to hide your smile. “Besides that’s your job, you can’t slack off there by talking to me.” You said. “Well how can I see you if not at the café?”
You wondered that too, there was no way he could come over and hang out, your boyfriend would flip out. “We’ll make a way, I promise.” You held out your pinky, you were so cute. He laughed, mimicking you, holding out his pinky. “Promise.”
“I feel like i’m funding two homes, ours and haechans.” Renjun sat the snacks he bought on the table. “You all need to seek employment, your parents pay for everything and that’s the problem.” He said. “Okay daddy, sit down.” Haechan said. He scoffed, sitting down pulling out his phone. “whoa is that yn?” haechan said. “Why is she your lockscreen?” he had forgotten about that, it was a photo you sent him of you and peaches laying in ned, you looked so cute he couldn’t help himself.
“He didn’t tell you, he found himself falling in love with neighbor.” Jeno smirked, “spends hours and hours talking to her.” He threw the pillow at the boy. “Shut up jeno.”
“Good for you, and her — her boyfriend is constantly cheating, she needs payback.” Renjun shook his head. “we’re just talking.” He said. “she even calls him while she’s showering.” Jaemin said. “oh, it’s like that.” Haechan wiggled his eyebrows. “its not like that, it was once and by an accident.” He said. “did you see something?”
“No you fucking perv, she hung up and called me back once she was finished.” Haechan shrugged. “Look we’re not judging you, if you want to fuck my neighbor, go ahead.”
“We’re not fuck–.” He was cut off by a loud scream. “looks like they’re at it again.” Haechan said. “yn and her asshole of a boyfriend, please take her away so I can have some piece.” Haechan said, taking a puff of the blunt.
“It’s been going on for a while, one of them normally leaves by now.” Haechan said, just as you heard a door swing open. “get out!” he heard you yell. “i’m sorry I swear.” He also heard your boyfriend, he stood up. “wait jun, this is normal, it fine.” It didn’t seem normal though, he slowly opened the door just to hear.
“yn listen to me, i’m sorry.” Your boyfriend pleaded as you threw his close out the house. “no, not this time.” You screamed. “you hit me!” he had found the innocent text messages between you and renjun, and went mad, and when you told him that at least it was innocent unlike the ones with random girls.
He didn’t take too well to this, and words began flying back and forth. “you’re just an little idiot kid, you need to grow up.” Which resulted into you saying, “you’re almost thirty, how about you stop going out every night and fucking random drunk 20 year olds.” You didn’t even recognize what you said, nor did you have time to process anything before you felt the sting of his slap across your face.
That when you broke, all the anger and pain came flooding out of you. “yn.” You slapped him back, going to your room. “yn wait.” He said. “I want you gone.” You said. “yn you’re being irrational, let’s calm down.” He said, making you even more mad. “irrational? Irrational, you hit me.” You grabbed his clothes. “You made, you’re constantly pushing me.”
“I’ve allowed to much from you, i’ve had enough.” You opened the door, throwing his clothes out. “Get out!” you screamed.
“Baby please I didn’t mean to hit you, it’s just that you made me so mad.” Renjun felt his blood boiling. “Calm down.” Jeno said, “don’t go all crazy.” He listened, opening the door wider, stepped out, he wasn’t the only one, a few other people stood out watching everything go down.
“Look at this, you’re embarrassed me.” He watched your boyfriend. “You did that yourself.” You tossed more stuff out. “I said enough, stop being stupid.” Renjun had enough, fully walking out of the apartment. “just let me back in the apartment.”
“No.” You seem your boyfriends eyes darken again. “You bitch I said- hey!” renjun shouted, both of you turned your heads. “Renjun.” You said, wondering if he heard anything. “She said leave, then just go.”
The older man smirked, “what is this?” he questioned, “You called him or something.” You rolled your eyes. “I didn’t, just go, go stay at a hotel until you find an apartment to stay in.” you said. “Why so you fuck your new boyfriend in our bedroom, like the little whore you are?” your now ex was basically slandering you.
He then turned to renjun, “you want her?” he walked over to the boy, face to face. “You think she’ll stay with you, she’s fucking obsessed with me.” He smirked, renjun tightened his fist. “What? you’re gonna hit me, stupid kid, hit me, go ahead.” Renjun saw red, before swinging, you shrieked. “renjun.”
Your boyfriend stumbled back, his nose bleeding. “Now go.” Renjun said, but the guy just kept coming towards him, but before renjun could even do something jeno stepped in — now renjun wasn’t scared of the man at all, but jeno definitely had an upper hand on the guy, and the guy thought so to.
“Before you do something you do regret, just get your shit and leave.” The guy picked his stuff up, turning to you. “I’ll let you calm down.” He scoffed walking away.
“You, okay?” he said immediately going to your aid, everyone had long gone back into their apartments. “yeah i’m fine.” You said, a red bruise forming under your eye. “look at your eye.” He said. “I’m fine.” You said, and you genuinely were, you felt like for the first time you could breathe. “Some ice and i’ll feel so much better.”
You moved your body to the side, “you can come in.” he turned his head down the hall where his friends were ushering him to go in. “Unless you’re busy.” He shook his head. “N-no i’m not.” he walked into your apartment, your dog running up to him, jumping on his leg. “she likes you, that’s a good sign.”
You walk into the kitchen, grabbing a few heart shaped ice cubes putting them on a piece of tissue, putting it to your face. “How could he hit you, that fucking asshole.” His fist balling up again, you grabbed his hand, rubbing his knuckles. “i’m fine, you did more damage to his nose than he did to me.” You took the ice from your face, putting it on his hands. “He deserved it, how could he do that to your pretty face.”
“You think i’m pretty?” you smiled, teasingly. “Yah! at a time like this, you’re making jokes?” He couldn’t help but smile at you. “See, just smile, now we can hang out here.” You tried to find the bright side. “You want to hang out with me that bad.” He teased back. “Of course, I do.” His eyes flickered to your lips. “I really want to kiss you.”
You weren’t as shocked as you should’ve been, you both felt the tension during the phone calls and face-times — there was definitely something there. “Then kiss me.” He smiled, grabbing your chin, pulling you into a kiss.
He held you softly in arms, his hand on your waist and you passionately made out in your kitchen. He pulled away, giving you a few more pecks on your lips. “Been waiting to that since I first saw you.”
He grabbed your hand, guiding you back to your bedroom, pushing you softly on to the bed, climbing on top of your body. “renjun.” You sighed, your fingers tracing his jaw. “tell me what you want.” He said kissing your fingertips. “Will give you anything you want, you just gotta tell me.”
“I-I want you, please.” That was all he needed, before he was pulling you into another passionate kiss, you pulled at his belt loop, softly moaning into the kiss.
“Jun.” you whimpered as he left little kisses in the spot between your shoulder blades, his lips grazing your chest all the way down to your stomach, stopping right at your waistband. “pl-please do something.”
He tugged your shorts down, tossing them, the wet patch on your underwear telling him how much you wanted this. “You’re soaked baby, you really need me?” you bit your lip, nodding. “So cute baby.” He rubbed you through your panties, you whined. “n-no teasing.” You pouted. “I won’t tease baby, I promise.”
He pulled your panties down, your glistening cunt made his mouth water. “Fuck.” He sighed, kissing your clit. “Need to taste you.” He licked your cunt. “jun.” you moaned out, he took that as a sigh to keep going, licking at your folds, kissing your clit.
It felt so good, you haven’t felt like that in a while, grabbing his hair, pushing him further into your cunt. “Fuck renjun, s-so good.” You moaned, he hummed against your cunt, you felt your long-awaited orgasm approaching. “i’m gonna cum jun.” you moaned out loudly. “Fuck i’m cumming!” you moaned, thighs shaking around the boys' head as he licked up your juices, pushing you past your orgasm. “j-jun.”
He pulled away, licking his lips. “Shit pretty you came so quick.” He smirked, your face heated up, and you turned your head shyly. “Well he never…” He finally processed it. “You’ve never gotten head before.” You covered your face. “Stop it’s embarrassing.”
He took your hands away from your face, “no it’s not baby, what’s embarrassing is that sorry excuse of man, missed out on tasting your pretty cunt.” You moaned at his lewd words. “S’okay though.” He spoke. “Now you have me, i’ll eat that pretty cunt whenever you want, all you have to do is ask.”
He unbuckled his belt, climbing off you to get rid of his jeans, along with his underwear — climbing back on top of you, his cock was hard against his abdomen, leaking with pre-cum. “So pretty junie.” You reached down, stroking his cock. “Fu-fuck baby if I don’t get inside you I’m gonna explode.” He groaned, moving your hand from his cock, replacing it with his own, stroking himself as he lined his cock with your dripping hole.”
“Fu-fuck you’re so tight.” He grunted as he sunk deeper into your hole, hitting your cervix. “R-renjun.” You moaned. “S-so big.” He groaned, you clenched around him. “Fu-fuck don’t do that, i’ll cum if your pussy keeps clenching like that.” You moaned. “Pl-please move.”
He pulled back out, slamming right back into you, both of cursing out as began to move – his hips snapping against your with such vigor, he held your legs opened, fucking into you deeper. “Fuck this pretty cunt is driving me crazy.”
He lifted your shirt, toying with your nipples. “Pretty fucking baby, gonna take care of you.” He grunted. “gonna treat you way better than that fucking asshole.” You moaned, your eyes rolling to the back of your head. “that’s it baby, let yourself go, you gonna cum for me.” He pushed into you deeply, the curve of his cock hitting that spot that had you seeing stars. “fuck, you’re gonna cum?” he toyed with your clit. “y-yes.” You moaned. “Pl-please.”
“Go a head, cum for me.” He grunted, pinching your clit. “Cum for me pretty girl.” You let yourself go, your mouth dropping open as you came, squeezing him tightly. “Fuck” He quickly pulled out, cumming all over your cunt. “Shit.” He breathed out.
He was quick to kiss you once again, his hands coming up to yours, interlocking them. “You’re mines now.” He said pulling away, letting your hands go, caressing your face. “not ever gonna harm you, okay?” you smiled. “promise?” you held your pinky out, he laughed — you were still so cute. He interlocked your pinky, kissing your knuckles.
“I promise.”

Daminette December 2022: 1-Ice
(NOTE: This was inspired by the 'Elation' trailer only-IF you are avoiding Miraculous Ladybug trailers, DO NOT READ!!!!)
Marinette smiled as her partner took her around the city. She had a grown to have greater appreciation for him. Chat Noir was always there for her. He was steadily becoming her best friend, in and out of the mask. Even when everything and everyone seemed against her at school, she had Chat Noir and Damian.
Marinette had never been happier then when her Nona introduced them. Damian had needed a bit of help with a project for his rivalry with his brothers. He proudly stated he didn't need her assistance and to go back to playing dress up. She had sneakily set up a booby trap in his room and made his life a living hell for three days until he gave up and asked for her help.
Marinette smiled fondly at the memory.
"Beg me." She spoke.
"What?" He shouted.
"Get on your knees and beg me." She repeated, "You wasted three of my days when I could have been working. It's your own fault; you're too prideful. Your revenge probably would have been finished by now."
Damian had glared at her and sighed. He got on his knees and his cheeks tinted pink.
"Please," he growled out, "help me with my revenge."
Marinette smiled, "Of course. So, which trap was your favorite and who are we getting first? Also, are we doing irreversible damage that is seen as childish and petty or all out war?"
"How many siblings do you have?" Damian questioned.
"I'm an only child." She answered.
"How do you know about traps then?" He asked.
"Bullies. One of them said they forgot something in my room. My parents let them up without my permission and they tried to steal my diary. Their hand was trapped in a box until I unlocked it." She replied.
"Effective." He responded.
Marinette nodded, "I had moved onto trapping my school supplies and locker. Someone broke in and was splattered with a glue and glitter bomb. The school got mad and tried to expel me. So, I took it up with the school board about defending my property and there were no locks. Our principal had said he updated the lockers months ago. They weren't happy with him. He was fired; turned out he had been using the school's money as his personal piggy bank. Lockers were updated and the person who got bombed was suspended. There's an internal investigation going on."
Damian smirked, "All that from a glitter bomb?"
"What can I say?" She asked, "When I get creative, sometimes it's chaotic."
After getting his revenge, Damian Wayne asked her out.
It didn't matter anymore if her classmates apologized. She was sure there was going to be a lot of changes after the internal investigation. She couldn't wait for the can of worms that was going to be unleashed that had Lila's name all over it. Lila Rossi made her see that her feelings for Adrien were too extreme. She deserved better than someone who let her get bullied. He never had her back, like he promised. Adrien Agreste had become a coward in her eyes.
"We're here, Princess!" Chat Noir cried out, gleefully.
'Oh, right; Andre's.'
Andre looked between the two teenagers, upset.
'Why are they together again? It will never work.'
"Look who's here!" he spoke, "Marinette, Chat Noir? What are you doing here?"
"We're here for your ice cream." Chat answered, "Unless you sell hot dogs."
"What a joke, this Chat Noir." Andre commented, as the two laughed, "But I am the glacier of lovers! Not the ice cream parlor of pranksters and good friends. You, Chat Noir, are in love with Ladybug and you, Marinette, are madly in love with Adrien Agreste."
Marinette just blinked. She wasn't sure if she had heard Andre correctly.
'Did he just declare I was in love with Adrien, in front of Chat Noir?'
Adrien felt his cheeks warm up under the mask.
'Marinette is in love with me?'
"You're wrong." Marinette spoke.
"Huh?" Andre commented.
"I'm not in love with Adrien Agreste." Mari spoke again.
"Yes, you are." Andre smiled, before making her sweetheart cone, "Matcha for his eyes and almond for his skin."
Andre smiled, smugly, as he handed Marinette her scoop. Marinette smiled as she took the cone. Chat Noir watched as she took a bite, before smiling from the flavor combination.
"My sweetheart cone for Adrien was pistachio and peach, but this describes my boyfriend perfectly." Marinette declared.
Andre froze in shock. Chat Noir slowly turned and looked at her.
"You......have a boyfriend?" he asked.
"Yep." Marinette smiled, "It took me awhile to see how cowardly Adrien was."
"Cowardly?" Chat asked, hurt by her answer.
"Yeah. There's this liar at our school. She's been bullying me, threatening me, basically gotten me expelled twice. Adrien told me it was fine she was lying to everyone and that he would have my back." She spoke, "He never 'had my back' when the people I thought were my friends tripped me, spilled things on my homework or designs, or spread lies about me."
Adrien felt himself shrink under her words. He had promised her, but....He couldn't risk his father being angry at him with Lila around. He had just convinced his father to let him quit modeling.
"If anything, that liar showed me that he wasn't who I thought he was. After that, my feelings for him faded pretty fast." Mari continued, taking another bite of her sweetheart ice cream, "I liked him because he was honest and kind; just not to me. Honestly, he's not for me. My Nona introduced me to a great guy and he asked me out."
Chat Noir gulped, "You-You sound happy."
Marinette smiled, "I haven't been this happy in a long time. He doesn't mind my rambles about fabric and colors. I can bounce ideas for fashion off of him and if I can't seem to design something right, he helps me. He doesn't even like fashion; but he's there for me. He sends me pictures of all his animals. Whenever I get close to being akumatized, I talk to him and he makes everything better."
"A-Akumatized?" Chat questioned.
Marinette turned to the miraculous hero and nodded.
"What? When? How?" he growled out.
"I've almost been akumatized several times since that liar came to school. So far, I've been managing, but.......my parents have started to notice them. I feel like they're planning on sending me out of Paris soon. I don't know if they will send me to Shanghai or if I'd travel with my Nona. I doubt they would send me to live with my boyfriend and his family, but my Nona might." she concluded, "She thinks of them as a second family, a very chaotic family."
Chat felt like he couldn't breathe. He couldn't imagine going to school as Adrien and Marinette not being there. He thought the high road would make verything better. Now, it seemed like it made everything worse.
"Your ice cream is magical, Andre, but you expect too much." Marinette spoke, "You can't force people to be together. Our hearts know. It just takes awhile for us to see through everything that we hoped to be true."
"What do you mean, Princess?" Chat questioned, ignoring the Ice Cream Man's glare.
"I once saw a future with Adrien. A house full of kids; three of them, but it wasn't real." she stated, "When something makes us happy, we want to hold onto it for as long as we can. It's hard to move on. We're scared of falling for someone again, only to be rejected."
Marinette turned to Chat Noir.
"Like your love for Ladybug." Mari smiled.
Chat sucked in his breath. She hadn't realized he had been trying to take her out on a date.
"I-I'm trying to. I really am. She told me she was in love with someone else. I have to respect her wishes, even if it hurts." Chat admitted, before quickly facing Andre, "Can I have a sweetheart ice cream cone?"
Andre looked between the pair. They truly were different people from the last time they had come to his shop.
Andre nodded and smiled, "Blueberry for their hair and bubblegum for their bubbly personality."
Chat Noir took his cone and gulped.
'Please, don't let her figure it out. I already know I waited too long; she's already taken.'
Marinette looked at him and smiled, "I hope you find whoever makes you happy."
"Me too." he answered.
"Thanks for the ice cream, Andre." Marinette smiled as she took another bite and began to walk away.
Chat quickly trailed after her.

To Begin Again
SIX
Summary: You're a new teacher at a large and influential school. It's a risky step for you, as you've been running from your ex for almost two years. But when Dumbledore asks you to take on a class at the renowned Hogwarts, you can't refuse. However, your life as a newly arrived teacher won't be easy. Especially when the other teachers don't seem eager to make friends. Or rather, two teachers in particular: Sirius Black and Remus Lupin.
Author's Note: Welcome, dear readers. Please leave your comments if you enjoy fanfiction. This fanfic takes place almost in the real world (with the addition of werewolves) and is not a wizarding fanfic. There will be some differences and changes in things from the Harry Potter story or other fanfics in the HP universe, but I promise to do my best writing this fanfic. There will be a love triangle coming in this fanfic.

You take a deep breath, thinking about how to explain what just happened. Nervousness takes over as you face Sirius, who seems increasingly impatient as he waits for your response. Or maybe he's waiting for Remus' response. But you don't dare look at Remus. Looking at him now might mean seeing regret in his eyes, which would mean he regrets kissing you. And you couldn't bear to have that confirmed.
"You aren't interrupting anything, Black. Inappropriately, I let myself get carried away by a feeling of affection for Mr. Lupin. I'd like to apologize to both of you and take my leave, as I believe that's the best course of action." You step away from Remus, not even looking at him. But before you can leave the kitchen and head to your room, Sirius grabs your arm. You look at him, confused, and he seems even more uncomfortable with your gaze on him. Did kissing Lupin make Sirius angry with you?
"I never considered you a coward. But it seems you think I'm a fool." Wow, Sirius sounds incredibly rude trying to insult you. Admittedly, it might seem cowardly not to admit you kissed Lupin because you wanted to, but that doesn't give him the right to judge you or your actions.
"Mr. Black, whether or not you're a fool is none of my concern. Just as whether or not I'm a coward is none of yours. Whatever relationship you have with Mr. Lupin, if you have an issue with the kiss we shared, you should discuss it with him. Now, do me a favor and spare me your presence." You respond assertively, perhaps even a bit too rudely. You pull your arm away from Black's grasp and continue on your way. There's no chance you want to be near Lupin or Black right now. On your way to your room, you wonder how you could be so foolish. It's more than clear that Sirius and Remus must have some kind of secret relationship, and you almost kissed one of them and actually kissed the other. How many stupid mistakes are you making when your intention was never to get involved with anyone?
"Stupid Potter, stupid Potter. Why would he do that? Defend me. He must be plotting something, it can't be anything else. In fact, I think he deserved it. Yes, he deserved it." You hear Malfoy muttering. He is sitting under the staircase that leads to the teachers' quarters.
"What exactly did Mr. Potter deserve?" You ask, approaching Malfoy, who is crouching on the floor with a sullen expression. It even looks like his eyes are swollen, as if he's been crying, but at the same time, his face conveys pure anger.
"I pushed him. He came towards me to ask something, and I pushed him. At first, it seemed funny. But then he got angry and pushed me back. He said I wasn't deserving of any kindness. As if I cared." Malfoy says, his voice muffled and upset, yet still maintaining his superior tone.
"And you didn't respond to him or anything?" You might have been at Hogwarts for a short time, but you already understand how things work.
"I said that at least my mother isn't dying in bed while I pretend to be okay." Malfoy speaks quietly, almost as if he realizes he crossed a line. You look at him, unsure of what to say. But after a minute of pure silence, you let out a sigh and sit down next to him.
"You know, I could tell you that what you said was wrong. That you crossed a line that shouldn't be crossed. I could demand that you apologize to Potter. But I won't. Because you're a grown boy. I believe in your ability to know what's right and wrong. And if you choose to do something wrong, as your teacher, I can only offer you advice. Draco, no one in this world will be perfect. You're going to make mistakes and get things right numerous times, but the most important thing is to know when to recognize your mistake. Knowing how to apologize is sometimes more noble than never making any mistake. Believe me, I know this well. I just made a mistake with someone; I apologized, but to be honest, I didn't do it because I wanted to. I did it because it was the right thing to do. So, I want you to figure out for yourself what you think you should do." You speak almost giving a speech to Malfoy, who for the first time, seems to really listen to you. Malfoy looks at you and then stands up. He stares at the stairs and then looks back at you, as if seeking some kind of support.
"Professor Y/L/N, will it take until I'm your age for me to know when I'm making a mistake?" Malfoy asks, and you almost smile. He is definitely one of the most eccentric students you’ve ever had.
"I'm sorry to inform you, Malfoy, but it might take until you're Professor Dumbledore's age for you to recognize when you're making a mistake." You reply, and he widens his eyes as if surprised by your answer.
"So, I might die before I know when I'm making mistakes. That sounds like a very complicated task. But even so, thank you for the advice. It's the first time a professor listened to what I did and didn't force me to apologize to Potter. To be honest, it might be the first time someone really listened to me. And since we're giving advice, I should tell you your hair is messy. It looks like you just came out of a windstorm." Draco says and then quickly leaves your sight. What a boy. You then head to your room to prepare for a bath. You first open the dividing door separating your room from the bathroom. When you don't see any sign of Sirius, you hurry to grab your towel and hair-washing products. Malfoy is right, your hair is a mess.
You fill the bathtub and take a long bath, hoping to better understand what feelings led you to want to kiss two men in the same night. Flashbacks of the moment when Remus's lips touched yours come to mind. The softness of his lips against yours. The sensation of tasting him after a long time without this kind of intimacy. Your last relationship was good while it lasted but terrible when it ended. And now, exposing yourself to feelings and physical contact seems like a risk. A risk you apparently are willing to take. However, the best thing for you right now would be to distance yourself from all of this. From everything that isn't safe. So, you let the water in the bathtub envelop you and allow yourself to immerse in the sensation of not knowing what to do.
"I need to talk to you. Let me know when you're decent and I…" Sirius basically shouts through the door leading to the bathroom. You startle, as he seems angry and in such a hurry to talk that he interrupted your bath.
"What makes you think I want to talk to you?" You shout back, nearly as loudly as he did. You step out of the bath and wrap a towel around yourself. Water drips onto the floor as you quickly head to your room, starting to dress while waiting for Sirius's response.
"I would hope you wouldn't force me to shout all over Hogwarts what I want to say. But I don't mind having this conversation with an audience." Sirius says, quieter than before. You realize he must have entered the bathroom when he noticed you had left. Even in your wildest dreams, you wouldn't have thought he'd enter expecting to find you there.
"I firmly believe that you and I have nothing more to say to each other. So why don't you just keep whatever you have to say to yourself?" You say as you finish putting on the dress you picked out. Your hair is still wet when you hear Sirius leaving the bathroom. You think he might have given up on talking to you. That's what you believe until you hear a knock on your door. As you lightly dry your hair with another towel, you open the door to a very unhappy Sirius Black.
"I heard that besides kissing Lupin, you spent your night encouraging Draco Malfoy's mischief. I wanted to be sure what kind of person you are, and it seems appearances really can be deceiving. I always thought you were a bit too sympathetic towards Malfoy." Sirius seems too nervous and too irrational. You look at him without reacting because you know that if you respond, you might come off as more irrational than he is.
"Your arrogance is greater than I imagined. Yes, I kissed your boyfriend, and if you really want to know, I enjoyed it. As for encouraging Malfoy's behavior, I did what I thought was right. Instead of ordering him to do what I wanted, I asked him to think about whether what he did was right. Don't think I care about your opinion, Mr. Black, but know that I didn't come to Hogwarts to have my character questioned. Your adoration for Harry Potter makes it almost impossible not to see Draco's side. Both are in a crazy rivalry because they're encouraged to be. Unlike you, I'm more interested in ending this feud and focusing on my students' growth. Maybe one day you'll realize you should act that way too." As you speak, Sirius seems fixated on you, but you can't quite understand why. It could be pure anger. Anger because you're getting involved in things you shouldn't. Anger because you're interfering in his relationship with Remus. But then he leaves your room. Who would have thought that Sirius Black is a scaredy-cat?
You try to process what just happened, but there's no time. Seconds after Sirius leaves, he returns and kisses you. Without further explanation, his mouth and yours engage in a small battle to see who is more desperate for the other. He then abruptly pulls away from you as if he's reconsidering what he's doing. You feel like he's going to run away again. He must have regretted it, probably going to say that you both made a mistake. You can already feel the sadness of hearing that from him, but you can't help but keep your eyes and your hopes on Sirius Black. You hope that he will say he's sorry for being an idiot. And you hope that he will kiss you again.
"Every moment I spend near you feels like I'm losing a bit of my sanity. It's intoxicating, and at the same time, perhaps one of the best sensations I've ever had. So listen to me carefully. If you don't want to complicate this, kick me out of your room. Send me away, say you don't desire me. Say there's no room for an idiot like me in your life. Say you prefer Lupin. Because he's the kind of guy who doesn't insult the person he desires. Just say it, and I'll leave." Sirius speaks as his hands touch your neck and then your lips. He's right. What you have is intoxicating. A tension that makes you feel like you've lost control over yourself.
"Sirius, don't ask me to do the dirty work for you. If you don't want to be with me, then go before something worse happens. If it helps, I promise to stay away from you. But if you stay here, we…" You speak, and you can see that Sirius is in an internal battle trying to figure out what to do. You definitely want him, but no one can want someone who doesn't know what they want. And Black doesn't seem to know if he wants you. You can see that from a mile away. Maybe you're not as intoxicating as you thought.
"There's no 'us,' Y/N. There can't be." Sirius replies, looking into your eyes. Funny thing is, you didn't expect to find that so sad. You then remove Sirius' hands from you and open the door of your room for him to leave.
"Know that I intend to forget what happened here. I hope you'll do the same. Have a good night, Mr. Black." You say as you watch Sirius leave your room, unable to meet his gaze. You close the door and lock it before either of you can change your minds.

Hey I just discovered your blog and I thought your cotton cookie story was adorable! May I ask for a Madeleine x coward or shy reader? Just love those two tropes of reader and can't choose so...surprise me! Lol
Hello, anon!
Thank you so much, I will forever complain about how Cotton Cookie doesn’t get much attention from the fanfiction part of this fandom 🍿
Of course my first Crk request was my favorite himbo boy, why wouldn’t it be xD? I’m not gonna complain about that though lmao
I’m a big fan of these sorts of tropes too, something about it is just hbsidbwinzkw amazing! I can’t choose between Hc or One-shot either, so screw it, I’m just gonna do both!
Hope you enjoy it!
Madeleine x Coward/Shy Reader
Pure, unrivaled fluff for our big light boi.
~| Absolutely 100% overprotective of you. It doesn’t even have to be with social interaction, if it has a 0.0001% chance of hurting you he will literally put you up and c a r r y until he’s sure you’re safe. If there’s a stray cakehound running up to you, even if it seems friendly, Madeleine would just pick you up and put you on his shoulders. He’s a very strong himbo boy, so he could do this easily with pretty much everyone. “Shoo, beast! You will not harm my lovely S/O!”
~| Madeleine is a complete extrovert and t h r i v e s on attention and social interaction, so he would be a bit confused when you don’t immedietly want to strike up a conversation with someone you met (the first time you met him you were probably a bit overwhelmed, due to his constant talking and complete lack of shyness). Though he may be confused, and occasionally push you out of your comfort zone, mostly on accident, he does try to understand where you’re coming from.
~| He loves to ramble. Loves it. When you two are alone, often he’ll just talk about random stuff to fill the silence. It may or may not annoy you, depending on how you feel, but occasionally you get things like “Whales swim, therefore they must be fish!” “Madeleine, wh-” [insert reader confusion here].
~| He loves it when you add onto his rambling. It can even be small comments, but he’ll grin at them. You actually listen to him! Wow! He sees this as one of the best types of bonding.
~| Madeleine is the king of PDA, and often finds it hard to not touch you in some way in public. It’s best to just let him hold your hand, he’ll be content enough with that. If he notices you’re feeling uncomfortable in a situation (which may take him a bit because d e n s e but, I mean, he’s trying), he’ll come up with some excuse- “Oh, I think I left my keys at home!” “I’m craving some Mac N’ Cheese.” “Oh no, I forgot to water the plants!”- and walk you back home, where he proceeds to ask what upset you. Will ask to cuddle every time no matter the outcome, and will 100% cuddle with you for hours until you have to practically beg for him to let you go.
~| Madeleine can cook! He knows how to make traditional meals and those sorts of things, but don’t trust him with the oven alone. He gets distracted very easily and something as simple as a frog “S/O! S/O! Come look! There’s a frog outside, it’s so adorable!” can distract him long enough to burn the food to cinders. As long as you remind him he has stuff in the oven, though, you can be well prepared to have a good lunch or supper. You may have to clean up after him, though, he tends to leave the kitchen messy. Anyways I’m getting off-track from the coward/shy reader bUT that came to my mind and had to put it there hh- back ontopic~
~| Other than a bit of confusion, he doesn’t care that you’re shy or a coward! He has enough radient confidence and bravery for both of you! He loves you because he loves you, not because you’re like him 💕.
~| I’ve seen a lot of people say this, but I’m gonna say it again. “Excuse me, they asked for no pickles.” is just such a Madeleine thing to say. He would literally be confident for you.
~| Often introduces you to everyone he meets in a very dramatic and doting fashion “I am Madeleine Cookie, and this is my lovely, most glorious darling I could ever hope for, S/O!” If you’re ever in a public situation he can’t get you out of, and he notices you’re getting tense, he will try and block out whatever is making you upset. He’ll just get in front of you and try to distract you, if all else fails.
~| If he notices you’ve been stressed lately, or if he just wants to, Madeleine Cookie will take you to the spa for the golden treatment. Massages, getting your nails done (he likes his painted black- he says they make him look mysterious- but he ends up subconciously picking to polish off after a while), just the whole shabang! He’ll even give you a personal massage if you ask for it!
~| He will never make you feel bad for asking him anything. He will do literally anything for you, just say the word! If you make self-degrading jokes about your shyness or about your cowardly nature, he will literally go on a rant about how you’re the best person he knows and how you’re perfect in every way. He will NEVER let self-degrading jokes slide. He loves you too much to see you hurting yourself, even verbally.
One-Shot
A gift from me to you!
It was a rainy day, which you were quite happy for. You were watching the light rain from your window, deep in thought, before you saw a figure coming up the stairs.
You started to panic a bit- had Madeleine invited someone over without telling you!? No, that wasn’t like him… was it a robber!?
But, as the figure aproached the door, you saw them pull off the water-proof hoodie they had been wearing, to reveal long locks of luxurious, blonde hair. You would recognize that hair anywhere.
Madeleine Cookie? He was inside just a minute ago! You glanced at the clock, freezing as you noticed just how long it had been since you last saw him- you must have been staring out this window for hours!
The door opened, and you looked over to see one very wet Madeleine Cookie with a large box in his arms.
“Madeleine?!”
“Yes, my dear! It is I!” Your loveable himbo said with a stupidly big grin. He took of the rain coat, shook out his soggy hair, and quickly made his way over to you.
“What’s that you have?” You question him, glancing at the box. You notice it has fairly large holes in the sides, though the inside is too dark for you to see what is inside.
“Merry Christmas!” Madeleine announces, to which you laugh. ”It’s the middle of July!”
“Eh, close enough! Close your eyes!” He demanded, and you happily did so, wondering what your big radiant light commander had gotten you this time. He had often given you gifts, one of your favorites were two necklaces that linked together by magnets to make a heart image. You rarely ever took it off (even if it did stay tucked in your shirt while you were out), and you weren’t sure Madeleine had taken his off either.
Your ears strained as you heard him open the box, and in a second, you felt something very fluffy and very energetic in your arms.
“Madeleine, you didn’t…” you said, your eyes still closed as he yelled “Surprise!”
You opened your eyes to find a very golden and very happy-looking puppy in your arms. You’re nearly breathless as it gives a yip, leaning up to lick your face.
“I hope you like him!” Madeleine says, ”I thought if you had both him and I with you when we go out, maybe you would be a little more comfortable!”
“Oh, he’s perfect, Madeleine! Thank you!” You pace over to him, the pup still in your hands, and give him a side-hug as not to drop the pupster. He wraps an arm around you, using his other hand to ruffle the puppy’s head, to which the golden dog gave a small ruff and leaned his head back. You heard Madeleine laugh as the pup furiously assaulted his hand with licks, and then he spoke once more.
“So, what are you gonna name him?”
Leaving the rest of this oneshot up to you guys to imagine, I’d love to hear what name you would give this little fella in the comments :)!
And remember, my requests are always open, as well!

Dream was visiting after dropping off Palette. He was currently in a guest room with Picmlaoho. PJ, upon Palette's return, had seemed to grow upset, even though Palette was their brother.
Ink and Error, however, we're in the living room, with Gradient and the rest of their children, except for Stain, who was upstairs sick.
As Ink and Error were discussing Dream's stay, PJ came up to them.
"Hey, dad, can I go hang out with Omni?" They had to calm down, and Omni always helped them feel better regardless.
Ink nodded a bit, "Of course you can. Just be safe, ok?"
Moku, one of the kids, let out an upset noise before almost yelling, "I wanna go too!"
Error sighed softly, speaking as Ink moved to pick up Moku, "If you go, you'll run."
Ink rubbed Moku's back, "I know you want to, baby, and maybe soon, but not right now. We don't want you to get hurt, you know? You could fall and scrape your knee, and we wouldn't be there to kiss it better."
Moku sighed a bit and nodded before Ink set him down. PJ nodded as they moved to leave.
"I'll be back. Thanks, Dad," They didn't mean to be so upset, but they just needed a moment to calm down.
"I miss him," Moku definitely sounded upset and Ink moved to nudge him to go back to playing with his siblings.
"I know, and I'm sure you'll get to see him soon, but not now."
Gradient mumbled a bit from where he was by Ink, "Why can't the council just catch you-know-who already."
Ink turned to look back at Gradient, "You know that's a touchy subject-"
"But Dad-"
"-And we've already discussed it. They're just too scared to do anything themselves, and they know I'd be too afraid to face him."
"All he's done still isn't enough?"
Error moved to put a hand on Gradient's shoulder, "You shouldn't even know about these things. Have you and Stain been listening to the meetings again?"
The answer was yes, based on how Gradient looked down, and Ink sighed a bit, "Look, Gradient, they haven't done anything because they're a bunch of cowards. If they could, they'd leave it to me and Dream, but they know I'd probably get killed if they did."
"They're right on that, but they're also idiots," Error hummed a bit, pulling his hand away. "But that doesn't mean you should be listening in on our meetings."
Gradient just nodded slightly as Ink spoke, "I know you and Stain really want to help, but you're both only 15, you shouldn't be focusing on us. You should be focusing on school and friends."
"What friends?" Gradient grumbled a bit.
"You don't have any friends? Even with all of our travels?" Ink was genuinely concerned, believing there was no way he didn't.
"You remember who our parents are, right?" Gradient crossed his arms. "The kids at school either idolize Stain and I, or they hate us. Sure, we made a few friends in AUs, but none actually stayed in contact."
"What about that one you're always calling-" Blueprint chimed in, only for Gradient to cover his mouth.
"No-"
Ink and Error were both concerned and confused, but Ink spoke after a moment, "All I'm saying is you're still young. You should be... enjoying yourselves, not worrying about whatever the hell bullshit the council is doing."
Ink had a tendency not to realize what language he was using, especially when it came to topics like the council or this 'you-know-who'.
Gradient smirked a bit at that, just as a yelled "Bullshit!" would've been heard from Moku, who just wanted to find ways to annoy Error.
"I know, Dad... but the council should be finished with all of this already, they have a line up of other things they need to take off, yet they're stuck on this?" Gradient sighed a bit, while Error just ignored Moku.
"I know, and it would've been solved sooner if they didn't depend on me-" Ink suddenly paused for a moment before heading upstairs, calling out for Dream.
Dream would've quickly responded, already heading downstairs to give Picmlaoho to Error, "I know, Ink, grab your brush and I'll go get Blue."
Bluescreen popped out from behind the couch, obviously confused, "What's going on?"
Gradient sighed softly, pulling his hand away from Blueprint, "You don't have to go... do you?"
Once his mouth was uncovered, Blueprint called out to Ink, "Tell pops to visit if you can!"
Blue usually visited after missions, or tried to at least. His brother wasn't the most fond of him hanging out too late, or having children, even if they spontaneously appeared.
"I will, Print, don't worry," Ink called back from upstairs, grabbing his brush from his closet.
Dream finally got all the way downstairs and moved to hand Picmlaoho to Error, "Sorry, kiddos, but we gotta go. Horror and Dust are being mean again and we gotta to stop them."
"If you see Pops, tell him hi!" Moku called to dream as Error took Picmlaoho.
Gradient nodded a bit at Dream with a grin, "We undertand... give 'em hell."
Error gave Dream a knowing look, a look that said they had know idea who was doing what by force, that they had to be careful, because they were either doing it out of joy or orders.
Dream summoned his staff with a slight nod, "Ink will be back after. We'll be safe."
Error nodded a bit, "You be safe too, ok?"
He really wanted to fight with them, knew Stain could handle the kids, but as he fidgeted with his hands, he knew he couldn't. He knew their house was secret, along with the fact he was living in it, and him being seen could risk everything. In fact, if anything, most probably thought he and Gradient were, unfortunately, both dead.
"I'll be fine. Just focus on you and you're family," Dream nodded to Error before teleporting away.
Error nodded, turning to the kids, "Who wants a movie night? I can go make pizza and you guys can get it set up."
Bluescreen nodded happily, "Can we stay up until they get back? Daddy is gonna bring Pops!"
"It depends, Screen. After a certain point, you'll have to go to bed, but your pops can come in to say goodnight," Error hummed a bit.
Palette cheered "movie night" very happily, and others soon followed, as Palette went to go get a bunch of blankets for them.
Error smiled a bit, nodding toward Gradient to start the movie while he went to the kitchen to make the pizza.
Hours later, however, Error was carrying Moku upstairs when he heard a knock at the door. He quickly went to answer it, setting Moku back on the couch, and when he opened it, there was Dream and Blue, but there was no Ink. Worry immediately struck through him.
Blue went to go say hi to Bluescreen and Blueprint while Dream lowered his voice, just for Error to hear.
"I need to talk to you."
Error nodded a bit, obviously worried, but led him a bit away, where they could talk safely.
"I feel terrible, Error..."
"What happened, Dream? Where's Ink?"
"I have no idea. Blue and I got to the spot, and he was just gone. We don't know where he went. Though it might've been a good thing for the battle, because he showed up... but he hasn't reappeared, and it's so worrying."
"No! No, no, he has to be back by now," half of Error thought it was good, knew it was good, that Ink didn't have to encounter him, but the other half was worried, unknowing of what danger Ink could be in.
"I need to find him!" He was started to glitch now, and Dream took a breath.
"Error, he could be anywhere, you wouldn't be able to get into the doodlesphere if he was there. I'll look everywhere, but I think our best bet will be to wait until he reappears."
"I can't lose him! I can't lose anyone else, I've gotta find him!" He didn't move, though, knowing he might put the house and kids in danger if he went looking for Ink.
"I'll keep looking and I'll bring him back if I find him, ok? Just... focus on your family, especially since Gradient might try to go looking. Or Stain, when he feels better."
Error nodded a bit, "I- O-Ok..."
"I'll bring him back as soon as I find him."
"Please... and keep yourself safe too..."
Dream nodded, "I will."
Error nodded, moving to sit with his head in his hands and let out a sigh.
Ink is temporarily closed for asks

GranEssex Chronicles: Chapter 18.1 - The Turnabout (Continuation)
Previous Part
Tumblr media
"You're Rebecca Forde, aren't you?" Mercury asked.
"That I am. I take it someone finally figured out what my idiot brother and idiot step uncle did?"
"Yes, someone has."
"About time. If wasn't being held here against my will, I would have told the universe the truth myself."
Just as she said that, her brother ran out of the house, only for Meta to teleport right in front of him. "You're not going anywhere."
He then used his lightning magic to paralyze him.
"Damage me more, will you!?"
"You're lucky I don't just kill you right now."
"Do it, you coward. I know you won't."
"Coward? You try to run away, and you call me a coward? Your words mean nothing to me." Meta said, punching him and knocking him out. "That should shut you up."
It appeared he was right, as there was no response. "Now you said that there is a cure?" He asked Rebecca.
"That's right."
"Please save my friend!" Meta did the one thing he normally never would. He begged.
"You don't need to beg me young man. I'll get it ready."
"How long will it take?!"
"Five minutes."
Slightly fearful, Meta looked at his friend to see that she had already reverted to her blob form. "Will she last that long?!"
"She'll have to. You have lighting magic, yes? Use it to keep her core active. It should slow the poison down just a little."
"Do... do I have to touch her core?"
"A real gentleman, aren't you? While I respect that, the world of medicine has no need for boundaries when it comes to saving lives. Touch it, young man, her life depends on it."
He nodded. "Fetty, I'm going to touch your core, is that ok?"
"Do it Metty. Hurry..." She weakly uttered.
Quickly acting, Meta activated his lighting magic and touched her core.
---------
After five minutes passed, Rebecca returned with the cure and injected it into Fettuccine's core.
"Fetty! Fetty! Are you ok!?" Meta exclaimed, continuing to pulse electricity into her.
"Give her some space, young man. She'll be fine."
"I rather hear that from her!"
"And she can't answer you if you keep crowding her. Look, her breathing has already returned to normal."
"On contrary, I think she might do better if he's near her." Mercury said.
Rebecca sighed. "Did I say he can't be near her? No, I said for him to stop crowding her. Hold her hand if you must, but you need to let go of her core. And don't even bother trying to argue against a medical professional. You both know I'm right."
"...what hand? She's still a blob right now."
"You know what I mean. Now calm down and give her space."
"...do as she says, Metty."
After a moment of silence, he left the room entirely.
"Get back in here you dummy, I didn't tell you to leave, I told you to let go of the core."
Mercury shook her head. "Just leave him be. He's taking this a bit hard."
"No, I won't leave him be. He makes a big deal about staying and then leaves when he didn't need to. That's just going to hurt the young lady's feelings when she sees that he's not in here. Now go get your soldier back in here."
"I will when I let the kid cool off a bit."
"...No, you don't need to. I'll stay." Meta said as he walked back in.
The woman seemed to stare at him skeptically.
"Meta, please wait outside just in case."
Rebecca coughed to gain both of their attention. "Miss, you do realize that the young lady is no longer in danger, yes? See look, she's slowly reforming her body."
"Then why were you getting so upset with him?"
"I wasn't. He needed to give her room to regrow."
Mercury sighed in annoyance.
"It's fine, Mercury." Meta said as he looked at Fettuccine's slowly reforming body.
Despite this, Mercury continued to stare at him. "I'm slightly surprised he's not being so hard on himself. He usually is in this kind of situation..." She thought. "Then again, his worry for her is probably overriding any other emotion he has right now." She shrugged. "It's going to hurt hard when that wears off and the other emotions kick in..."
---------
After a few moments, Fettuccine finally reformed completely.
"I assume it worked then?" Mercury asked.
"I told you it did. It's an extremely fast acting antidote. She was saved the instant I injected her with it."
"...and you needed to drive the kid away from her after you did why?"
"Why do you keep assuming that's what I was doing? I simply said he needed to give her space, as in walk a foot away from her. I even said he could stay close to her. I'm not responsible for how he decided to act."
Mercury only stared at her.
"Besides, isn't there something more important that requires your attention?" Rebecca asked, pointing at Meta hugging Fettuccine. "She is your subordinate, yes? Go and speak with both of them."
"She's technically not my subordinate. She's my older brother's."
Rebecca just stared at her. "Just go talk with them."
Mercury stared back at her as she walked over to the duo, who seemed to not even notice the conversation going on.
"How are you feeling, Fettuccine?" She asked.
"Oh, I'm fine, thank you..."
"Are you sure? You almost died..." Meta whimpered.
"Keyword being almost, Metty. I'm alive and it's thanks to you slowing down the poison. You helped save my life, so relax, ok?"
"How can I?! You almost died and it's all my fault!"
"Oh, shut up with that nonsense. You weren't the one that stabbed me. You however are the one that kept me alive. That antidote wouldn't have worked without you. Stop fretting about your so-called failures and be happy about your successes."
"BUT YOU STILL GOT STABBED BECAUSE I WASN'T CAREFUL!"
"So? I'm alive, aren't I? Or would you rather I died?"
"What!? Of course not!"
"Then what's the issue? I'm alive, you prevented the bastard from escaping and we got Rebecca on our side. We won, Metty, so stop dwelling on your so-called mistake."
"But it is a mistake!"
"A mistake that doesn't matter. I'm alive, that's what matters. I get it, you're a perfectionist, but Metty, you don't need to be perfect all the time. You saved my life, that should be more important than anything else right now."
"But I could have prevented you being in danger!"
"Stop it. It literally doesn't matter. I'm alive, you saved my life, that's all there is to it."
"But if I was a better protector, there would have been no need to! Why can't you see that I'm a failure!?"
Fettuccine sighed and then slapped him across the face. "When will you realize that you didn't fail? I'm alive only because of you. I wouldn't be here talking to you if you weren't here. I would be dead if not for you. You didn't fail, you've never failed. Quit beating yourself up over nothing, Metty." She then hugged him. "If I went on my investigation by myself like I originally planned, I would have died. I've only made it this far because of you. You are invaluable to me, so stop calling yourself a failure."
He didn't respond.
"Metty, would you preferred if I did die?"
"No..."
"Then why are you acting like I am dead?"
Meta opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out.
"Metty, things like this happen on missions. We can't prevent every bad thing from happening. But what we can do is focus on the good. We're alive, that's the only thing that matters right now."
He continued to remain silent.
"She's right, Meta. Nothing is more important than getting through a battle alive. Remember the story I told you about how Kurabe almost died from poison due to protecting me? I blamed myself for it just like you are now. But do you know what Kurabe told me? She said to stop dwelling on meaningless crap. There's nothing more important than being alive."
He still didn't say anything.
"Take it from a doctor, young man, there's nothing more important than saving a life. Which is what you did. My antidote was only able to save her because of your skills. Without you, she would be dead. So, hold your head up high, for you performed the greatest act anyone could do. You saved the life of a loved one."
He still didn't reply.
"Metty would you just say something already?"
"...Do you really think so highly of me, even after what happened?"
"Do you really think I would lie to you about something like that?"
"...No, no you wouldn't."
"Then don't act like I would."
"Alright. ...I'm glad you're alive, Fetty." He said while hugging her back.
"And I'm happy to be alive."
Mercury smiled, then looked at Rebecca. "You said something about being kept here against your will. Care to explain?"
The doctor nodded and pointed to her throat. "You see this device on my neck? It's a bomb rigged to detonate if I attempt to leave this asteroid."
"Do you know how to get it off?"
"I do. There are two methods. One is the key, but Veno owns it. The second method is using electricity to make it short circuit. The issue with that is it could make it explode."
Mercury hummed for a moment. "...if you want, I can contact Kurabe, and she can get the key from him."
"Or I could try to short circuit it." Meta offered. "Sensei always says my control over electricity is masterful."
"Do you think you can do it?" Rebecca asked.
"I'm confident."
"Then I'll trust you."
Meta slowly walked up to her and placed his hands on her device. With a severe amount of concentration, he sent his electricity into the device. Soon, the device safely fell off of her neck. Rebecca carefully touched her neck with a smile.
"I'm finally free. Thank you, young man."
"It's nothing... I'm just doing what I can to help..." He uttered shyly.
"Miss Rebecca, my name is Fettuccine, I'm the one in charge of this investigation. Is it safe to assume that you're willing to work with us?"
"Of course young lady. That bastard Veno killed my dad, framed Erhard and kept me trapped here. It's time that he paid for his crimes."
"I see... that's a relief..."
"Well then, what do we do now, Fetty?" Meta asked.
"Now, we go back to the legal division. With Rebecca on our side and Wade as our captive, we have enough to prove Veno did it."
"And we did it in record time. Just need to get back to the legal division HQ." Meta grabbed her hand. "I told you that you could do it."
Fettuccine's entire body turned pink.
"Fetty, are you alright?" Meta asked in concern.
"Don't worry young man, that just happens when Limets are incredibly happy. Isn't that right, young lady?" Rebecca said, winking at her. That response caused her whole body to turn a deeper shade of pink.
"So, you're happy then? That's a relief." Replied the oblivious Meta. He then gave a smile towards his friend, who almost immediately reverted to her blob form. "FETTY?!"
"And that's what happens when they get extremely happy. Pour some cold water on her, she'll be fine shortly after."
Meta took a moment to blink off the shock before heading to the water faucet.
"You know a lot about Limets." Mercury observed.
"I would hope so, my best friend is one."
"Really? You mean Erhard?"
"Of course. I tried to stop Veno you know, but my idiot brother knocked me out. When I came to, I was trapped here, unable to do anything to avenge my father and save my best friend from a unfair fate. I hope he doesn't resent me for what happened."
Meta, who had returned with a glass of water, only smiled. "I'm sure he'll understand. I haven't known Erhard for too long, but he seems to be one of the kindest people I know."
"I see, glad to hear he's still the same kind man."
The youth nodded then. "So, do I just dump this on her then?"
"Yes, anywhere on her is fine."
Meta did so, watching Fettuccine return back to normal in a few seconds.
"Alright, shall we get going now?" Mercury asked.
The group nodded collectively. They walked outside, grabbing the still unconscious Wade as they made their way to the ship.
"You wouldn't happen to know if there's any hidden assassins or traps here?" Meta asked.
"No, my idiot uncle saw no need for any of that. We've been hidden here for centuries, so he figured anything like traps or guards would be a waste of money."
"I see. Good to know."
---------
It took about a day for the ship to return to the base of the legal division. They made sure Wade was tied up, completely unable to move. His mouth was also covered meaning he couldn't speak unless Fettuccine allowed him to.
"Well, are you ready to present your case, Fetty?" Meta asked.
"Yup. Soon it'll finally be over."
The group then entered the office. Wolfreid looked up. "Fettuccine, you're here earlier than I expected. I'm impressed. Please take a seat and tell me what you learned."
The woman nodded and did so. "First, I know the truth. It was Veno."
"Veno? The second in command? Do you have evidence for this claim?"
"Of course. Rebecca, if you would please tell him everything you know."
The woman nodded and stepped forward.
"I see. You're his step niece, aren't you?"
"Correct."
"You've been messing for centuries. Care to explain why?"
"Of course. My step uncle was holding me hostage on an asteroid in the Merbuda galaxy."
"Why?"
"My uncle and my brother were planning in creating poisonous weapons of mass destruction. My father and Erhard opposed them. Veno killed my father and set off the poison that killed everyone at the school, leaving Erhard behind as a scapegoat."
"And do you have evidence for all this? You do understand that we highly value evidence."
"Here, official documents that prove that Veno was at the scene of the crime the day it happened. We also have Wade's admission of guilt." Fettuccine said.
"...can't we just show him the bomb collar?" Meta asked.
"The bomb collar?" Wolfreid asked.
Rebecca reached into her pocket and showed him the bomb collar.
"...Yes, that's certainly a genuine bomb collar, there's no mistaking it. Ms. Fetcher." He called out to his secretary. "Tell Veno to come here, immediately."
"Right away, sir." The woman said before stepping out of the room.
"Now as for the rest of you. I want you all to hide behind and come out when the time is right. The look on his face will be priceless." Wolfried said, showing a bit of his playful side.
The group nodded and followed what he said. A couple of minutes later, the second in command entered the room with the secratary.
"Yes, Wolfried, what is it? I'm a very busy man you know." Veno said, his voice filled with arrogance.
"And what, pray, are you busy with?"
"My job. Now if you excuse me-"
"Oh Veno, you don't need to worry about your job. You're fired."
"...excuse me?"
"You heard me. You're fired."
"Why!?"
"Because you won't be able to perform your duties from inside a jail cell. Gentleman and ladies, you can come out now."
The group stepped out from behind Wolfreid. "Who the hell are you all?!" he then froze. "R-Rebecca!? How did you-!?"
"Hello uncle" She spat out. "As you can see, I'm free and Wolfried knows everything. You are finally going to get what you deserve."
"I don't know what the hell you're talking about."
"You can play dumb all you like, it doesn't change the truth. You lost, Veno." Fettuccine declared, security guards surrounding Veno so he couldn't make a run for it.
The man simply traced his fingers across them, and they turned their weapons against the group. "Bring me that woman."
Before anything could happen, all the guards were knocked out by a very angry Meta. "You've caused enough damage, you scum."
"Why don't you come closer and say that to my face?"
Meta smirked and did so. Veno then touched him, laughing. "You fool, now you're mine to control!" He laughed, only to be punched in the gut. "How did?"
"You're far too weak to mess with my head."
"YOU who infamously has confidence as fragile as a soufflé!?"
"You threatened my best friend. I'm far to angry to care about any of that." Meta then zapped Veno, paralyzing him just like he did with Wade.
Wolfreid chuckled. "Thank you for that."
"You're welcome. So... does this mean Erhard is a free man?"
"All we'll have to do is extract a confession from Veno, but considering how he was acting, the answer is obvious."
"Then we did it? Fetty, we did it!"
"I know, isn't that great?" Fettuccine then sat down, falling asleep.
"Fetty?"
"Don't worry young man. All of the exhaustion from these past few days have finally caught up to her. She just needs some rest." Rebecca told him, getting him to calm down.
"Ms. Fetcher. Find a bed for the young miss." Wolfreid said.
"Of course, sir."
He nodded at the reply. "Now as for you, Veno. It's time you talked. Meta, in my cabinet is a lie detector machine. Grab it for me please."
The youth nodded and grabbed it for the man. Wolfried put it on Veno and smiled. "Now Veno, did you do it?"
"No, I didn't." The instant Veno said that, his entire body was electrocuted, and he was now crying in pain.
"I'm going to ask you again. Did you do it?"
"OK, YES, I ADMIT IT!" He yelled. As soon as he told the truth the electric shocks stopped.
"Well, Meta, there you go. Erhard is now free."
Meta smiled and pulled out his phone to call Kurabe. "Hello, sensei?"
"Yes, Meta?"
"Mission complete. Erhard is a free man now."
"I knew you both could do it." She said happily.
"Tell her that I'm sending an official message to the guards to let him go whenever he's ready." Wolfried told Meta, bringing out his own phone.
"Did you hear that, sensei?"
"Yes, I did."
"Good. Then we'll meet up with the both of you at the GranEssex then."
"Understood. I'll see you soon." She then hung up.
Meta smiled then fell down, being caught by Mercury. "I guess the exhaustion has caught up to you as well, huh?" The puff didn't respond. "I'll take this as a yes. Come on, I'll bring you to where Fettuccine is." She took the youth in her arms and carried him off.
---------
In a few minutes, Meta awoke to see that he was now laying in the same bed as Fettuccine. The woman was completely asleep, but Meta was still somewhat conscious. Using the last of his strength, he hugged her as tight as he could. With a small smile, he closed his eyes, slowly joining her in a comfortable sleep.

It’s heeeeere! Another summasalt, this time with nearly twice the length of the first one!
(Turns out that not having caffeine doesn’t help me talk any slower.)
Script below:
Anonymous asked:
Thoughts on Rocketear?
Can you Rocketear the newest episode apart with your salt, my beloved Salt Queen?
Penny for your thoughts on Rocketear?
Aw, anon! You can have that for free! I'm a generous goddess.
"Rocketear" begins with Chat Noir and Carapace - just Carapace, really - holding back a pack of what I presume to be the physical manifestation of the writing staff's age, or at least a representation of how behind the times the writing seems.
Just as the dinosaurs break through Shellter. Ladybug shows up with the scientist who revived the dinosaurs in the first place and said scientist uses a whistle to calm the dinosaurs down. There's also a line from Bob Roth about putting the dinosaurs in a theme park to make money and I know what it's referencing but it's so incredibly random that it doesn't really come off as a proper joke.
Carapace was notably sad right after battle, but insisted that he was fine when Ladybug asked. Rena, sporting a... - I would like to say "new design" but it's a recolor in every sense of the word - is hiding behind part of a building and smiles after the heroes before walking off. Ladybug takes Nino's miraculous back but sees that he's still upset and asks him again what's wrong. Nino asks where Alya was and Ladybug claims that she only needed Carapace for the job, which cheers him up but only until Ladybug is already gone.
Mm, I guess Nino and Adrien relate in heroism not being enough for them unless they have their respective love interest to flirt with.
Also, I know this is an obvious set-up, but the show can't tell me that Ladybug just always brought Nino and Alya whenever she needed one of them. Season 3 required her to go to Master Fu to get the miraculouses, and unless she already knew that Nino and Alya would be in the same location - which, okay, the show does basically shove the two of them together whenever Nino is onscreen, fair, if two characters are in a relationship in this show then it's weird for them to NOT be with that person - but it just seems like a gamble, not to mention proof to Shadow Moth that the two are close if Ladybug constantly brings both of them.
Anyway, Ladybug goes into the sewer and asks Rena if she's seen any sign of Shadow Moth or his traps. Rena didn't see anything and they de-transform. Marinette is about to leave when she thinks of something, but Alya assumes it's about her new look, which was apparently not voluntary on her part and the suit automatically adapted to Alya's new role as Rena Furtive, which she has now named it as.
Marinette reminds her that this is supposed to be a secret and that they agreed that the fox has no owner. When Alya is evasive about whether she told Nino that she won't be Rena anymore, Marinette stresses that everyone needs to believe that Alya won't be using a miraculous anymore so that she can remain an undercover spy.
What's the point in changing the look if you're not going to show yourself anyway? I mean, insurance, I guess, but still.
Alya, exasperated, parrots what Marinette has apparently told her before: that she helps Ladybug with Mirage in case Shadow Moth tries to follow her so Rena can follow him instead. Marinette stresses the situation again and Alya tries to get Marinette to agree on her telling Nino that she's Rena Furtive, but Marinette refuses.
At Marinette's house, Alya talks further and explains that she doesn't know if she can lie to Nino since they don't keep any secrets--Alya, babe, you kept Rena Rouge from him and didn't tell him that you knew he was Carapace until Ladybug was forced to give you your miraculouses at the same time. I don't wanna hear it.
Marinette states that it's too late for that and also not technically a lie, but Alya gets upset and says that Nino will never trust her again if he finds out that she kept something from him. Marinette brings up how she had to keep secrets from Alya too, but they're interrupted by Tom appearing and wanting to play games with them. Marinette makes an excuse about homework that she's repeated many times, as Tom comments that the teachers give her too much. After Tom is kicked out - hang on, lemme just... - Marinette uses the moment to show Alya that she's lied to her family a lot and hasn't played games with her father in months. She states that there's no other option as they have to protect their identities, and Alya agrees to talk to Nino.
In Alya's room - I just presume at this point that Nino's house doesn't exist and Chris is an illusion - Alya tells Nino that they need to talk, but stammers and states that it's hard to talk about. Nino thinks that she wants to break up with him, but Alya assures that she loves him. She finally gets to the cover story that Rena herself made up in "Sentibubbler" and Nino understands, sad that she won't be around anymore but agreeing if it's what Ladybug thinks is best.
Is it weird that Nino respects Ladybug's wishes more than Alya does?
Nino hugs her and is confused by why Alya was nervous to tell him, as she can tell him anything and nothing will change their relationship. Alya feels guilty and hugs back, murmuring about how they don't have any secrets; that's not what Nino said, but sure, push this plot to its already predictable conclusion. I mean, I thought it was vaguely sweet that Nino switched to seriousness immediately when Alya said that she wanted to talk, but how am I supposed to be invested in this couple when their dynamic boils down to "STRONG, INDEPENDANT WOMAN who wears the pants in the relationship because her boyfriend is portrayed as a wimpy coward"? Like, the show constantly dragged Nino down to make Alya look "powerful" by comparison, and then when it comes to characters like Marinette, we get a girl who works very well outside of her relationship with her endgame love interest.
It's the fakest form of "girl power," dragging guys down to raise girls up or actually making a strong girl character but having her love interest be a weakness that creates flaws in her that weren't there originally and having that love interest be who she's "destined for."
I'm rambling, sorry.
In class, Marinette assures Alya that she did the right thing and Alya agrees. As they're leaving school, Marinette talks about how their "night walks" start soon, and Alya non-subtly talks about how Rena Furtive will be on the lookout while Ladybug and Chat Noir patrol. She stops, however, as gets excited about some pictures she took of herself as Rena Furtive, which has a lot of details that Marinette hasn't seen. I don't know whether to groan at what I just heard or remind everyone that Rena Furtive is literally just a recolor and therefore this is the writers patting themselves on the back for this design, so let's just move on.
Alya then shows Marinette her phone--AUGH, MY EYES--and suggests making a poll on her Ladyblog so people can vote for their favorite Rena design. Marinette has to stress again that Rena Furtive is supposed to be a spy and thus invisible, which Alya admits that she forgot about.
Okay, I've been holding off on talking about this, but now seems like the best time to bring it up. Alya has been a trash friend as well as a trash confidant, and her role as Rena Rouge boiled down to, "it was convenient for her to be the fox at the time it was needed." She's not particularly stealthy like one would expect of a fox, and she was easily one of the worst candidates to be told Marinette's big secret. I'll get more into this later, but I have to stress that Alya has treated Marinette no differently since learning of Marinette's identity and has already gone against Marinette's orders once before at the time of this episode airing. Episodes are constantly torn between validating their decision to have Marinette tell Alya, having Marinette be worried about the decision while the show considers her to be ridiculous for it, and then having Alya either consider or make choices that clearly don't gel well with what's good for her role. Much like Marinette, she lacks a sense of self-control and--wow, a female character who's impulsive, never seen that stereotype before.
Point being, "Sentibubbler" stressed over and over that Alya was the right choice and deserved to be both the permanent fox and the understudy for guardian, but then we have "Rocketear" here where Alya is making basic emotionally-driven errors that I'm not even remotely sympathetic to when Marinette has gone through so much worse over the course of three+ seasons.
*sigh*
Alya laments that it's hard to find new content for the Ladyblog - ah, yes, tell me more about your struggles, Alya - but figures that at least she can post stuff about Chat Noir instead of--I don't know--making fake Ladybug theories to lead people off Marinette's trail. Marinette says that it's a great idea, though Alya still doesn't look too happy. The scene then rewinds to a little bit to show a different point of view, this time with Adrien and Nino. Wait, this feels familiar, wasn't there another episode that did something like--ohhhh no, this is going to hurt.
After saying good-bye to Adrien - something I wish I could do every time he's mentioned or on-screen - Nino catches the bit of conversation where Alya talks about the Ladyblog. Nino talks as if Marinette isn't there and asks Alya out to the movies because Marinette is chopped liver and this is about Alya and how sad she is, guys.
Wow, she's turning into Adrien faster and faster.
Alya hesitates, but Marinette assures her that there's still time. Alya excitedly runs off with Nino and they watch what I presume are previews given the narrator, featuring recycled footage from the Ladybug PV. Nino is upset because Rena is mentioned but not Carapace, and the preview features Rena telling Chat Noir to forget Ladybug because it's Chat and Rena herself who are trulu made for each other.
I don't know what's funnier; the complete lack of self-awareness or the suggestion that a biracial couple would exist in this show outside of a special that gives them maybe a minute of screentime and acts more like suggestive canon anyway. I think I might've been too generous with that line about dinosaurs.
Nino is offended by the preview and Alya brushes off his comments, stating that it's just a cartoon and it's made to entertain people, though Nino himself is certainly not entertained. Can't say I entirely blame him considering that Alya doesn't really try to say anything substantial or even agree with him. No cuddling or reassuring kisses, she just gets slightly sad and turns to her phone for a bit.
After the movie, Nino is cheered back up again until he catches Alya on her phone once more. He offers to take her home, but she's distracted, and he comments that what she showed to Marinette looked pretty nice; I don't know because they didn't show it. Nino asks what it was and Alya evades the question, stating that her battery is running out. Nino is suspicious, but spots Andre's ice cream cart and the two head over there. Andre calls them his favorite couple and asks what they want, but Alya sees Ladybug gesturing for her and has to run off, giving Nino a cheek kiss as she goes which feels like too little too late at this point.
Nino catches some conveniently-placed kids arguing over who Chat Noir loves, but they settle on the fact that girls in general love Chat Noir. Nino is then seen at the Seine watching the Ladyblog's latest video, where Alya is talking up how amazing Chat Noir is. I hate to stop every five seconds to complain - okay, actually I don't - but I presume this video must've been made after the movie since Nino seems like the type who would actively follow his girlfriend's blog, yet not only is this video perfectly set up to echo the kids and the movie preview, but Alya - despite apparently caring about her boyfriend soooo much that she kept trying to convince Marinette to bend the rules - didn't even try to warn Nino or text him so he doesn't take it too seriously. It's like "Sentibubbler" with the conflicting messages about identity rules; Alya cares about her boyfriend but both isn't thinking about how he'll take the things she says and apparently doesn't know him well enough to realize that he wouldn't be mad over her keeping a secret that she was told to keep. I already talked about how they play up Nino to be the emotionally weaker one of the relationship, but then they don't have Alya try to cover or make up for that. She's been acting very much not like Alya - you know, the one who in "Sapotis" practically bragged about how great she'd be at covering for Ladybug - with her stutters and weak excuses, so I can't completely blame Nino for being upset after everything that's happened when he sees the writers projecting onto Alya as she talks about how Chat Noir is brave and funny and cute and showing all these images of him as well. I don't agree with all of his actions, but--oh yeah, speaking of which--
Nino calls Adrien and is talking to him about how Alya must be in love with someone else. Adrien dismisses the idea, as Alya and Nino are together basically all the time, and asks who she could possibly be in love with. When Nino suggests that it's Chat Noir, Adrien laughs and jokes about it being Fang instead. Nino points out the video but Adrien did see it but is overall unphased and convinced that it means nothing. Nino says that he'll find proof and hangs up, but Adrien is certain he'll find nothing. Plagg comments that Nino will find someone because Plagg's charisma has definitely contaminated Adrien.
Ugh.
Adrien expresses concern that he put on the cat's charm too much and accidentally made Alya fall for him, and decides to visit Alya as Chat Noir to be sure.
Meanwhile, we get a reference to film noirs as Nino narrates. That's the second blatant reference this episode and now I feel like they wrote this script while doing a movie marathon.
Chat Noir arrives at Alya's house and Trixx hides before Alya opens the curtains to reveal her surprise guest. Nino is nearby watching the scene with his phone as Alya wonders aloud if something's wrong. Chat assures that everything's fine, but brings up the video she posted. He insists that it made him happy, but points out that she's been following him and Ladybug since the beginning and that they know each other much better due to everything that's happened. He has some conveniently-worded dialog as he starts to say that he hopes something's just an illusion and Alya gets worried that he's about to bring up Rena. Chat continues and clarifies that he wonders if she started to feel something for him, though adds that he understands because just look at him.
UGGGGH.
Chat clarifies by making a heart with his hands, which Nino sees. Alya laughs at this gesture and states that she has a boyfriend, doing the same heart gesture and suggesting that her love for Nino is even more than that. Chat Noir apologizes - hm, I didn't know he had the capacity to do that - and hugs Alya, saying that he was just confused.
An absolutely unnecessary hug for two people who, at least in terms of their current selves, have had very little screentime together, but this is also the show where making eye contact basically means your friends and it's all just to push the plot along so Nino inteprets that Alya is in love with Chat Noir, so whatever I guess.
Alya states that Nino is far more irresistable than Chat, then adds that she doesn't even know his secret identity, and she'd never fall in love with someone she doesn't know. Nino then runs away upset and the scene cuts away to the next day where--
Wait, wait, wait, hang on a second. Two things right off the bat there.
First off, we're just gonna sidle past that "wouldn't fall in love with someone you don't know the identity of" while ignoring the existence of the love square? Not even Chat thinking about how he doesn't know Ladybug's identity and trying to excuse that he doesn't have to? This guy is that certain of their relationship?
Secondly, Nino is practically sobbing and Shadow Moth doesn't take this as his opportunity? Same guy who akumatized Mr. Pigeon 72 times and has akumatized Gigantitan more than once? What is this pacing???
But--alright, so Adrien comes into school and sees Nino, still dressed up in his detective gear, which gets ignored completely as Adrien goes to tell him about Chat Noir and Alya. Because the show doesn't know how Adrien would convey this within reason, Nino interrupts him, taking him down into the lower part of the school where he has a desk and chairs set up. Adrien goes to ask when Nino had time to do this, but Nino slams his hand on the desk to cut him off. Nino presents the evidence he took and they go back and forth, likewise with Adrien turning off the background music while Nino turns it back on. Adrien insists that it's a misunderstanding, but pleads innocent when Nino asks how he knows. Adrien states that Alya is just a superhero fan and that she and Chat Noir have nothing in common.
Again, the complete lack of self-awareness is astonishing.
Adrien repeats what Alya said about secret identities and how she wouldn't fall for someone she doesn't know - they're really ignoring this, aren't they? - and continues hitting Nino's soft spots about how unlikely it is until Nino decides to tell Adrien something he's not supposed to.
He tells Adrien, not only that Alya is Rena Rouge, but that he's Carapace. Adrien goes through a range of emotions beyond sAD for once, shocked at the fact that they know each other's identities. Nino states that they don't keep secrets from each other, except now Alya is with Chat Noir. Adrien still doesn't understand and brings up how secret identities have to be protected, or else Nino wouldn't have told him because Ladybug wouldn't agree to it.
Oh, here we go. So that's why they waited.
Nino states that it was Ladybug herself who gave them their miraculouses at the same time; not giving the reason why, of course, nor pointing out that they're temporary heroes so there's understandably some leeway. Adrien is having a moment, but manages to bring the subject back to Alya and Chat Noir, who he still doesn't think are a thing. Nino argues that it's because Adrien doesn't know Chat Noir, but he does because he's Carapace and knows how Chat Noir acts. He says that it's all flowers and confessions when Ladybug appears, but he gets rejected because Ladybug thinks that he's annoying, and she's right. He adds that Chat flirts with Rena Rouge and that's all that needs to happen, with Chat stepping in on the first mission Carapace lost in. Nino laments the loss of the love of his life and wishes to shut Chat Noir up forever; we all do, Nino, we all do. Shadow Moth finally steps in with - oh, less than eight minutes left in the episode, yikes - and Nino is akumatized into Rocketear.
Rocketear rejects Adrien's pleas to stop, insisting that Chat Noir is who he's after, not Adrien, and Adrien transforms in sad fashion despite Plagg's reminder of who Rocketear is after. Alya, meanwhile, is in the art club with Marinette - wait, since when was Alya in the art club - telling Marinette about how Chat Noir thought she was into him due to the video, which Marinette groans at. There's an earthquake and they peek outside to see Rocketear firing his tears at Chat Noir, shouting that he stole Alya from him. Chat Noir tries to tell him otherwise, but Rocketear won't listen.
Alya groans at Nino doing this, then she and Marinette set off to find a place to transform. They conveniently go to the same place Adrien and Nino were, so they see the desk that Nino had set up.
Genuine question, how seriously does this episode want me to take itself, because now when I recount all the unnecessary love square drama in my head - because you know that's where this is going - I'm going to have to think, "Nino, dressed in a detective outfit, ripped off his fake mustache and told Adrien both his and Rena's identities, and also that Ladybug was totally cool with it and thinks that Chat Noir is annoying."
Gettin' two completely different vibes here. The episode clearly wants to be important but it doesn't take itself seriously either, which it totally could while including enough jokes to keep things light. Instead, I'm just left scratching my head and wondering what tone they're going for.
Marinette finds Nino's phone on the desk - I'm calling continuity error on that one because he at no point put it on the desk, at least not on-screen - and she questions Alya on the video she sees. Alya insists that nothing happened, apparently completely unphased by her boyfriend having spied on her, and says that he wouldn't have misunderstood if he'd heard the actual conversation.
The two transform and Ladybug immediately uses Lucky Charm, receiving a projector. Ladybug is clueless and Rena Furtive suggests creating an imaginary movie like Nino. Ladybug gets an idea, remembering Alya's earlier comments, and Rena confirms that she remembers every word of it.
Aaaaand, just like that, all of the tension has been completely sucked away. You know, "Backwarder" was a trash episode, but at least when Ladybug was showing every step of her plan, she didn't tell us what it was.
Meanwhile, Rocketear and Chat Noir are still arguing--I started zoning out at hearing the same thing over and over again at this point, so I just presume they were fighting over who does stuff behind their love interest's backs better; I don't think they came to an agreement but they're both losers anyway.
Chat Noir says that he'll prove his innocence, tossing his baton aside to show him giving up, but Rocketear points out that it proves nothing and strikes Chat Noir with his tears.
Our endgame love interest, everyone. Straight As yet about as smart as a sack of bricks, and that at least won't flirt with anyone non-consensually.
Chat Noir makes a point that he doesn't want to hurt Rocketear, and Shadow Moth tells Rocketear to take his miraculous before finishing him. Chat Noir can only weakly tell him not to before Ladybug snags Rocketear's wrist and diverts the shot. Ladybug explains to Rocketear about the projector and how it'll let him hear the audio of the recording he took. She adds that she doesn't know what Chat said, but she trusts him.
Marinette, I'm sorry, I feel so bad for you.
Ladybug turns on the projector and Rocketear relaxes at actually hearing what was going on. Rena then de-transforms and hurries out to meet with Rocketear, hugging him as Rocketear apologizes for doubting her. Alya also kinda sorta apologizes in a way I don't understand and Rocketear then breaks his akumatization, very casually, all on his own.
Yeah, just--casually, in a matter of seconds in fact. You know, it's really sad when people resisting akumatizations are more tense and emotionally compelling than them breaking them. This is twice in one season now and has zero impact considering that Nino's reason for being akumatized was already taken care of so he had no reason to stay akumatized anyway. Him breaking his own object to release the akuma would've at least been different, but instead it's just a repeat of what Alya went through with even less tension considering that Alya's wasn't even that good in the first place, relying on her relationship to Ladybug rather than who she knew to be her best friend.
Moving on, Ladybug captures the akuma and uses Miraculous Ladybug to bring everything back to normal. Shadow Moth monologues about how love and secrets don't go well together and he's sure that she has a lot and I'll talk about this later.
Ladybug hands over the magical charm, which Nino takes but insists that he won't need it, as he'll never let Shadow Moth use his love to manipulate him again. Plenty of other things to get akumatized over, but they gave the supposedly ace character a robot to help him stick out and also gave the supposedly aro character a miraculous back in season one to give her more importance. If characters aren't in love then they need something to ceompensate for it.
Nino apologizes to Chat Noir for being wrong and Chat Noir assures him that everyone has doubts, even him. He gets sad and Ladybug asks him what's wrong, but he insists that he's fine - officially throwing away his right to be upset at her later as far as I'm concerned - and they do their usual fist buuuuu--
...Really?
Everyone then splits up and Chat Noir sulks by himself instead of--you know, talking to Ladybug, or asking her anything, or making any sort of excuse for her because that would mean he actually has faith in her and understands that their partnership is different from temporary heroes, even if the excuse was as basic as her wanting to protect him more than the others because he would be that egotistical if they didn't want to stretch out this unnecessary drama.
Later on, Adrien is staring at a picture on the Ladyblog that might be a metaphor for the show considering how "in the foreground" Chat Noir and Rena are.
Adrien vents about Ladybug giving miraculouses to Alya and Nino, but Plagg states that she's the guardian. Adrien clarifies that he's referring to Alya and Nino knowing each other's identities, but Plagg doesn't see the issue. Adrien gets huffy and asks why the rule exists for LadyNoir but not Ninya, but Plagg again points out that she's the guardian, so she makes the rules, though obviously he uses cheese metaphors to convey it.
Okay, Plagg is only, like--half-right because he doesn't have all the information. If you don't mind me rambling for a bit, I'm on the fence here because, on one hand--yes, I agree that Marinette should be allowed to make her own rules, and I often do that in my writing because I think she should be permitted leeway in order to let herself be happy, but on the other hand, it's not technically her rule, as she had to let Alya and Nino in on their identities back in the Season 2 finale, so Fu was still around for a season. She wasn't even guardian yet!
Now, presumably so the fandom could blame Marinette if anything happened, Marinette never discussed this with Fu on-screen, so I can't say whether or not Fu knew, but I feel like he must've since Marinette had to have told him the heroes' identities off-screen, given "Party Crasher," and thus I imagine that Marinette would tell Fu everything that happened, which is consistent with what she does on-screen even if she'd keep things from him for a little while.
"Furious Fu" had also established that not even Master Fu followed rules completely, meaning that Marinette is in this awkward spot of mostly following what Fu taught her, which aren't all guardian rules anyway, and having to break the rules on occasion for various purposes. I can't say what Fu approved of and what he didn't, because episodes spend so much time on the love square that they forget about Marinette as a person and how she interacts with everyone else. From an emotional standpoint, I can't blame Marinette for not revoking the miraculouses of people whose identities get discovered because of her, as I imagine she feels guilty and it probably doesn't seem fair to force them into another miraculous or have them be entirely without one because of a mistake that she made, meaning that someone needs to be throwing a lot of red flags for Marinette to be through with them.
Though obviously, from the show's standpoint, it's just an excuse to not make new models, but I complained about that enough in "Sentibubbler" and this episode even went out of its way to design a detective model for Nino while spraypainting Alya's bodysuit in the same breath, so this is the world we live in.
Anyway, Marinette is essentially in this position where she still has Fu's rules hovering over her, but she's also trying to step out on her own and make her own decisions to varying degrees of success or failure depending on your point of view. Tikki--wait, no, bad idea--Su-Han then, could easily give input on these things, perhaps with Marinette discussing a modern day set of rules for someone her age and going back and forth with Su-Han on what the right choices to make are, finding something that's comfortable but within a realm of predictable control. Su-Han was okay with some rules being broken after seeing how Ladybug handled them and they could've easily made this episode about that instead, but instead, we get rules being set and then being broken on a writer's whim.
Which now brings us to the end of the episode, where Marinette is on the phone with Alya and apologizes for causing trouble between her and Nino. Alya tells her not to worry and she'll fix things - you know, those things that, to Marinette's knowledge, have already been fixed - and asks if Marinette trusts her. Marinette does, and Alya hangs up in order to face Nino.
Yeah, that feeling of dread in your stomach? That means you know how predictable the writing is and what's about to happen, good for you.
Alya explains that she has to tell Nino something and he's worried, this time trying to sheepishly break the tension. She explains that she's still Rena Rouge, much to Nino's shock, and adds that she's in hiding, which is why Ladybug didn't want her to tell anyone. Nino asks why she's telling him if she's not supposed to tell anyone - proving my point from a while back that he wouldn't have been upset had she kept it a secret - then asks if Ladybug agreed with it.
I want to give him a pat on the back for considering Ladybug, but he didn't even tell her when he had the chance that Adrien knows his identity now, so I'm just beaten down at this point.
Instead of answering the question directly, Alya says that she can't hide her identity from him because she loves him and they don't have secrets.
You know, like Nino telling Adrien about Rena's identity, or Alya saying specifically that she's a permanent holder, which I'm sure both of them will confess to since they said that they don't have--aaaaand the episode ends on happy triumphant music, okay.
I mean, I guess Alya at least didn't tell him that Marinette was Ladybug, but that is such a low bar and not even remotely worthy of congratulations when Alya told Nino the specific thing that Marinette told Alya not to tell; the thing that they had agreed on.
Nino wasn't upset anymore. He won't be getting akumatized either. Alya endured the supposed hardship of being a permanent fox holder for four episodes before breaking down and telling her boyfriend. Even her excuse doesn't hold any water because, again, they're both still technically keeping a secret, particularly Alya who knows Marinette's identity as Ladybug. The episode also apparently forgets that Alya and Marinette's friendship must not be as strong by her logic of telling Nino specifically everything, as Alya kept Rena Rouge a secret from Marinette for all of Season 3, but tells Nino about continuing to be Rena Rouge in Season 4. Boyfriends before BFFs without explicitly saying it, or to be more specific, whatever screws Marinette over the most, because that's what this comes down to, made worse by "Optigami" where Marinette told Alya that she'd tell her everything and I guess that doesn't go both ways.
"Sentibubbler" had Alya stress that no one would ever know. She promised Marinette and told Marinette to trust her, and the episode spent its entire running time talking her up and assuring Marinette that she was the right choice, even considering Marinette ridiculous for worrying when Alya had done something without Marinette's permission the episode right before it. Then, three episodes after "Sentibubbler," when Marinette is finally comfortable and trusts Alya completely, Alya betrays that trust. Nino betrayed that trust, knowing he wasn't supposed to do so but telling Adrien his and Rena's identity anyway, because he was losing an argument and needed to PROVE something.
Marinette gives them an inch and they take a mile. Marinette bent the rules so that they could continue to have the miraculous they'd started with and they disrespected her because it was hard for like a day.
And if this bites them back, it won't reflect poorly on them, it'll reflect poorly on Marinette.
It's not like Alya just overrode Marinette. She didn't go, "Hey, I'm telling Nino, I'm sorry," or tried her hardest to go back and forth with Marinette until they both agreed. No, she did what she told Marinette she wouldn't do without saying a word to her, because LOVE and SEEEECRETS.
And this only applies to her, of course, because don't think I didn't notice the parallels between this episode and "Truth," because WOW.
Episode begins with Marinette hoping for something and it blows up in her face? A date at the cinema that ends on a sour note? Plot-centric couple trying to get Andre's ice cream and the female with a secret needing to leave in a hurry? Boyfriend character getting akumatized over their girlfriend's secret? Boyfriend assumes/suggests that the girlfriend's secret involves Aaaaaadrien - or his alter-ego in "Rocketear"'s case - and the episode hints as much to him even though he's completely wrong? Akuma's colors are blue and black? THE BRIDGE?
But, ahhh, little difference, here and there, y'know, like how Marinette was forced to break up with her boyfriend while Alya got to keep hers, and Nino got to have long talks with Alya while Luka got little to nothing with Marinette.
Because do note that Alya, while trying to convince Marinette and talk to Nino about not keeping secrets, at no point suggests that Marinette deserves to be happy and deserves to have a boyfriend and that Marinette should be allowed to tell Luka her secret so they can get back together, so you have Alya here selfishly prioritizing her relationship with Nino while making no comment about Marinette's relationship, essentially asking Marinette to allow her what Marinette herself didn't have the luxury of, and Alya knows this because Marinette told her. It is both incredibly insensitive of Alya and incredibly insulting of the show to make so many parallels between this episode and "Truth" just to have everything crash down for Marinette because she's Marinette while everything goes well for Alya and Nino because they're not Marinette.
We've talked before about the formulas that are literally baked into the show, and one of those is how Marinette makes a mistake in every episode and has to learn from it. What that mistake is in this episode, I don't know, but considering that she apologizes for Alya and Nino's problems, I guess the show blames her for what they themselves had taught her.
Point being, there's a clear karma system in place, but it only applies to Marinette, and forcing her to mess up in every episode means that she is literally not allowed to be with Luka because had she been able to clear things up between them, he would've eagerly accepted her and they could've been happy. It'd be too difficult for her to mess up when Luka doesn't put mountains of pressure and expectations on her like everyone else. Factor that in with how she can be herself around him and it leads to situation that are too difficult for her to screw up in because her mistakes - more often than not - center around Adrien or her role as guardian.
And because another rule in the show is to bring up Adrien so they don't "lose him for too long," she can't avoid bringing him up either. If he's not in the plot, he has to be mentioned, leaving Marinette in a lose-lose situation that she'll never be free from.
So, let me just get this straight then:
The guy who spied on his girlfriend instead of talking to her about his assumptions gets to keep his girlfriend, not because he realized it was wrong regardless of whether he was correct or not, but because the situation had been cleared up for him, yet the guy who actively resisted his akumatization, saddened by his girlfriend's secrets but wanting her to share them when she was ready, gets broken up with and tossed to the wayside because he's not a rich blond boy who got a miraculous because he happened to be within the twenty meters of space where Fu was searching for new holders?
Meanwhile, the girlfriend who has gone against the wishes and insistence of her best friend - guardian of the miraculouses, by the way, so she calls the shots, something that Alya herself said in "Optigami" BEFORE GOING ON TO DO HER OWN THING IN THE SAME EPISODE AND BEING REWARDED FOR IT - is allowed to go against the wishes and insistence of her best friend again for the sake of "all love, no secrets" with her boyfriend and so she can have the happy ending she wants, yet the girl who was chosen for a miraculous without her consent, forced to screw up and talk about a random boy who doesn't even go out of his way to spend time with her, treated like absolute trash by writers who find humor in her misery, and is the only one to receive overly harsh and long-lasting consequences for her actions while also covering up and forgiving the actions of others within the episode where they do it...
doesn't get her happy ending, and won't ever get her happy ending. That thing Shadow Moth said about love and secrets not going well together? Yeah, only goes as far as the writers want it to, because both Nino and Alya still have secrets, and some of the ones they did tell each other were forced by someone else and kept until that very moment. This idea that people in love have to tell each other everything and that it makes a relationship stronger makes me immensely uncomfortable, and that lesson is also in "Guiltrip."
People should be allowed their secrets, and obviously there are exceptions for things that are being hidden with malicious intent, but being essentially forced to share everything or risk not having a "full and complete" relationship is stifling and sounds like it'd only cause stress.
This episode sucks. It furthers and confirms everything I've already thought about the show, Nino's screentime continues to be dependent on Adrien, Alya, or both, there are pointless references that completely take me out of the experience, and the utter betrayal from Alya and supposed message of the episode just reminds me that Marinette is inevitably going to be stuck with a guy who didn't even DO anything in this episode and is going to let himself stew instead of asking for any sort of clarifications from someone he apparently trusts so much.
So the takeaway is that Marinette's life is awful, she'll be forced to apologize for rules that she didn't even come up with herself, her best friend will walk all over her for the sake of her relationship with a guy - not even for the sake, really, they were going to be fine, it was more for HER personal comfort if anything - and the guy who actually makes Marinette happy and could've known her identity instead BECAUSE HE AT LEAST DIDN'T HAVE A TRACK RECORD OF SPILLING HER SECRETS gets treated in the exact same way that she does; like nothing, just something to abuse unfairly.
What a waste of an episode.

For The Lover That I Lost (Wanda Maximoff/ Reader)
Tumblr media
Hello! Welcome to part 9, inspired by Sam Smith’s “For the Lover That I Lost”. This now takes place post-civil war.
Summary: Y/n and Wanda are finally able to talk. Will the talk end in love or tragedy?
“All of the memories feel like magic, all of the fighting seemed so sweet. All that we were, my love, was tragic and you're the last thing that I need.”
“Do you think we could have that talk now?”
For a moment you just stared at the clouds floating past the small window you were seated by and let the question hang in the air. She had given you space for a few hours, but you knew this moment was bound to come.
The problem was that your healing was precarious, you knew that, and you didn’t know if it could withstand a conversation that was sure to open the wounds you had spent months patching up.
“Y/n?” Wanda called, cautiously placed a hand on your shoulder.
With a deep breath you turned your body to face her. “I thought about it, and I don’t know if that’s a good idea, Wanda.” You answered honestly.
Her brow furrowed slightly, “I understand your hesitation, but-“
“Look, Wanda, allow me to save you the trouble.” You began steadily, “You’re sorry for how everything happened. I accept your apology. You don’t want to lose me from your life. Give me some time and then we’ll work on rebuilding the friendship. Did I get everything?”
She stared at you, her eyes troubled. “Well, not exactly, I was trying to-“
Once again, you interrupted her. “And I won’t stand between you and Vision.”  You added with a snap, as if you had just remembered something important.
“Will you stop interrupting me?” Wanda exclaimed, shocking you into silence. “Sorry, I just-… I forgot how stubborn you can be.” She rubbed her arm in embarrassment.
You stared at her silently, granting her wish of no interruptions. Waiting for her to get to her point, that you still weren’t sure you wanted to hear.
As you observed her, you noticed the way she nervously spun the ring she was wearing on her finger while she seemed to ponder where to begin. “Have you always done that?” you gestured to her hands, unable to stop yourself from asking.
Her eyebrows raised at your question, obviously not expecting it. “I…” she thought about it for a moment, then ducked her head slightly. “I guess it was something that I picked up from you. For so long, your nerves were intertwined with my own that it just became a habit from watching you, I guess.” She mumbled.
You bit your lip and nodded but said nothing, taking note of how her eyes closely observed the action. You gestured for her to go on.
Wanda took a deep, steadying breath, making sure she maintained eye contact with you. “First, I am no longer with Vision. I haven’t been for months.” Your eyebrows raised curiously. “You were right though, part of what I wanted to talk about was how sorry I am. Y/n, I am, so, so, sorry. You deserved so much more than what I gave you. I don’t expect you to forgive me because I certainly don’t forgive myself.” The sincerity in her voice took you by surprise.
The glassy look in her eyes and prominence of her accent were tell-tale signs of how upset she was. It was information you wished you didn’t know anymore. You dropped your gaze to your lap, it was easier this way.
“There is no excuse-“ she continued until a quiet knock on the wall made her stop. You both looked over to see a sheepish looking Steve Rogers standing a few feet away.
“Sorry to interrupt. Again.” He coughed awkwardly. “I just wanted to let you know we’ve landed at our temporary hide-out. It’s that house up in the distance.” He gestured vaguely as the door to the quinjet opened to reveal an open field with an unsuspecting two-story house located in the center.
Under normal circumstances you would have thought it was a beautiful sight. The knowledge that you were all there on the run, tarnished that though. You let out a quiet breath. “It’s beautiful. Where exactly are we?”
“Spain. A very rural area at that.” He replied easily.
Despite the view, Wanda couldn’t take her eyes off you. She needed to talk to you uninterrupted and it seemed as though the universe was actively trying to prevent that from happening. All she could do was hope that this wasn’t an omen. That she still had a chance.
“How long will we be here?” Wanda questioned, finally tearing her eyes away from you.
At the question, Steve shifted in discomfort. “A few days... if that. When Natasha arrives, it’ll be best if we split into small groups at most. We’re wanted fugitives now.”
“Natasha?” you asked with a tilt of your head, distinctly remembering her on Tony’s side.
Steve nodded. “She helped me and Bucky get out. She’s wanted now too.”
Both you and Wanda shared a look of surprise, Wanda speaking up before you could say anything. “Thank you for the update, Steve. We’ll meet the rest of you inside.”
With a knowing nod, Steve took the hint and turned to catch up with Sam who had already began walking ahead. “Guess we better head out.” you mumbled.
“Can we take a walk before we go in? I’d really like to finish our conversation.” Wanda requested hesitantly, her eyes pleading.
With another steadying breath, you nodded. She seemed determined and obviously wasn’t going to let this go. “Okay, Wanda.” You stood up and walked with her out of the quinjet, veering to a small path that was on the side of the house rather than going inside.
After walking a decent amount, Wanda stopped and took your hand, effectively stopping you as well. You looked at her expectantly. She decided she couldn’t handle another interruption and decided to just be bold. “You’re the love of my life.”
Her words were so unexpected that you just stared at her for a moment, opening and closing your mouth as you tried to process. “I’m sorry, what?” you eventually choked out.
“You are the love of my life.” She repeated with three light squeezes to your hand. “Pushing you away – not fighting for you – was the biggest mistake of my life. A mistake I never plan on making again. I was confused and thought that my powers were tied to my heart. I was wrong. The only person that has ever held my heart and will ever hold my heart is you. I want to grow old with you. I want you for the rest of my life.” Her words were passionate and desperate as she tried to express the true contents of her heart, hoping you’d believe her.
Disbelief was the only thing you could feel as you watched her shimmering eyes remain on yours. Shortly following the break-up you had dreamed of a moment like this. Not anymore though. You couldn’t. You had spent months learning to live without her. The risk of allowing her back into your heart came at much too high a cost. You wouldn’t recover a second time. “I-I learned to live without you, Wanda. I can’t risk it with you again. I’ve played before and lost.” You answered, finally pulling your hand out of her grasp.
“Do you still love me?” she asked in a pleading tone, ignoring your words. She took your hands back in hers, you noticed that they were shaking ever so slightly. “Tell me you still love me. Please.”
You swallowed thickly and met her eyes, “I don’t love you anymore.” You said weakly, so weakly that you didn’t even believe it yourself.
Wanda shook her head, clearly on the verge of tears. “I don’t believe you. I know you still love me. A love like ours doesn’t just go away. I love you, Y/n. Let me show you.” Without a moment’s hesitation, she took your face in her hands and connected your lips passionately.
Wanda sighed contently at the contact she had been missing, the way you both fit together like two pieces of a puzzle. The rush of electricity was a feeling she longed for. Getting swept up in the moment, you returned her kiss temporarily before the shock wore off and the hurt settled once again.
Pushing at her shoulders you quickly stepped back. “You can’t just kiss me and expect everything to go away, Wanda.” You shouted at her. “I think I should go.” You mumbled turning to leave.
Watching you walk away again was a nightmare vision to Wanda and she would be damned if she gave up so easily again. She ran and stopped so she was directly in your path, preventing you from going any further. “Y/n, please, I can’t imagine my life without you” The tears she had been holding back bubbled over the surface and fell down her cheeks. You fought the urge to brush them away.
“You know, I used to think of you as the person that I was going to spend the rest of my life with too. As somebody who would never hurt me. Ever.” Wanda listened to you quietly as tears flowed more steadily down her cheeks. “Now all I see when I look at you is that last moment on the roof. Of you with him. It doesn’t matter what you say, or what you do… it’s too late.”
A sob escaped Wanda’s lips as she briefly covered her face with her hands. “Y/n, please… This can’t be it.”
“It is though.” Blinking back tears, you moved to step around her.
“Y-you’re a coward!” She cried after you, at your retreating figure. The pain clear in her voice.
Anger quickly replaced the anguish at her words. You spun around to face her, her jaw clenched. You couldn’t believe her. “I’m the coward? No, Wanda, you are!” you shouted back.
The woman in question ran a hand through her hair, tears falling even faster. She seemed at a loss. “You’re the one that chose to run instead of staying and fighting!”
Her words made something in you crack, she had no right to be angry. To pin the demise of what you both once were on you. “How is that fair?” you snapped at her. “I was supposed to stay and fight for someone who had very clearly decided they didn’t want me anymore? You don’t get to pardon yourself. The ashes of our relationship are on you and you alone.” You gritted out bitterly.
For a moment she just stared at you, her chest heaving as she clutched at her chest. Almost as though your words physically impacted her. “I…I’m sorry.” she took a deep breath and recollected herself. She reached out to you, you stepped back. Her face contorted in pain at the knowledge that you didn’t want her anymore.
“I know I don’t deserve it and you have no reason give it to me, but please, give us a second chance. Let me prove to you I mean what I say, to prove that you… you are everything. There will never be anyone else. I love you.” her eyes met yours pleadingly, slowly breaking before your very eyes.
You took your own deep breath and braced yourself for the words you were about to say. “Wanda, we don’t stand a chance. It’s sad, but it’s true. We’re bound to end in tragedy.” You said quietly, staring off in the distance because you weren’t sure you could handle watching her reaction. “It’s time to move on.”
Like a magnet though, your eyes found hers either way.
Broken. That’s the only word that came to mind when you saw her expression. Broken sobs left her lips. Her eyes glistened as they desperately searched yours for something, something that you had blocked off long ago. “You don’t mean that.” She whispered, her lips trembling along with her words.
You shut your eyes for a moment and prepared yourself to close the door on what you both had. “Goodbye, Wanda.” You whispered as you walked off without looking back.
If you did, you would have seen the way she fell to her knees. The knowledge that she had no one to blame for her own broken heart but herself bringing her to her knees. She buried her face in her hands as sobs wracked through her body. Longing for the comfort of your arms.
Silent tears rolled down your cheeks as you listened to the sound of her cries in the distance, but you knew it was for the best... At least you hoped it was.
That night Steve announced that it would be in everyone’s best interest to split up for the time being as he handed out older phones to everyone so each of you could be contacted and check in. After his announcement everyone retreated to their room. You quietly let Steve know where you planned on going and told no one else.
As you discreetly prepared to leave the following morning, you found a dozen flowers at your door, half purple violets and half white dittanies. The memory of the last time you saw these flowers filled your mind bittersweetly. A memory that no longer felt like it belonged to you.
When Wanda awoke, she was disappointed to find the flowers she had gifted you back at her door and the room you were staying in empty. Even if her heart ached, she knew that she couldn’t give up. She’d try and try again because your love was worth fighting for and she wouldn’t let you go again. She was determined to spend the rest of her life trying to win you back if she had to. There was no other path for her.
And there we have chapter 9! Angst, angst, angst. I got a little carried away lol. Only 3 more to go, where do you think the reader and Wanda will go from here? As always, hope you all enjoyed and thoughts and comments always welcome.
P.s. did anyone catch a hint of a different Sam Smith song in there? It may be a hint for the next chapter, it may not be. Still deciding.

Why did life have to be so hard?
You watched as Will got ready for his date that night, giddy and excited to be going out, rambling on and on about how nice this person was, who he met a few days prior.
You just smiled and nodded along, pretending that your heart wasn't painfully throbbing with jealousy.
You hated this feeling, longing. It was strange, you never felt this way before with Will. You've been friends with him as long as you can remember, seen him have plenty of dates with other people. So why did you suddenly feel like you wanted him all to yourself? It wasn't like you at all.
"So, what do you think?" Will asked, snapping you out of your thoughts, slowly spinning around to show off his outfit.
You plastered on that same fake smile that you unfortunately got into the habit of doing nowadays. "You look great, Will. You always do." You didn't mean to sound so sad, but it came out that way and you internally cringed.
Will cocked his head with a confused grin. "You okay?"
You nodded your head eagerly. "Of course!" You stood up from where you sat and quickly adjusted the collar of Will's shirt, struggling to pull away when he smiled at you. "I always have to fix that damn shirt collar." You chuckled weakly, forcing yourself to take a couple steps back.
Will copied your chuckle, turning around to do a once over in his mirror. "What would I do without you?" He joked, but you frowned for a split second before shaking your head.
"Well, don't wanna keep the lucky date waiting, right?" You patted him on the shoulder, maybe a little too hard since Will rubbed his shoulder with a grimace afterwards.
"You are absolutely right. I'll be off then, night, love!" Will placed a quick kiss to your cheek, heading out of his house, leaving you alone with the ghost of the kiss lingering on your cheek. The innocent, and most importantly, friendly kiss.
You looked around the living room solemnly, looking to your feet to see the two pups you were trusted to take care of while the owner was out of his date. Welp, at least I have his dogs to share my misery with...
You had no idea how you let this happen. You've always seen Will as a friend, and nothing more. You've both hyped each other up when one of you scored a date. Will has seen you off to plenty of dates and never had a problem with it, so why couldn't you do the same for him?
Unbeknownst to you, Will actually has had similar feelings. He didn't know how it happened, but he developed strong feelings for you. He clearly knew you didn't feel the same, and he had to sit idly by as he watched you be in and out of relationships with people who weren't him.
He's never been one to get jealous, but he'd definitely be lying if he said he never was jealous of your partners. He wanted to be the one to hold your hand, he wanted to be the one to open doors for you, to be the one you smiled at when he wasn't looking. He decided to move on, even if it was the last thing he wanted. But his respect for you trumped his lust that he felt at the same time, he just wished he could turn his feelings off.
You decided to hole up in your apartment after Will came back from his date, the date that went "extremely well." The "he'd definitely be seeing this person again" date.
You couldn't say you were devastated, for obvious reasons. You didn't want to tell Will you had feelings for him, and you didn't want to be selfish. You always felt selfish nowadays.
You just felt like a burden.
It was hard hanging out with Will, always having to hear about his new partner, how they're so nice and kind and caring and apparently so fuckin' amazing...it made you want to vomit. It made you not want to hang out with him as much anymore, but thankfully, that decision was made for you. Will didn't have time for you anymore, he really wanted to make his relationship with this new person work, more than he wanted to keep your friendship strong, you thought.
Eventually, you just stopped trying to initiate conversations. Will would text you, all the time really, he'd just be too busy to see you. Between acting roles and sending time with his partner, you'd only be with him through text messages.
An epiphany struck you one day: you deserved better.
You knew you were right, and that's why it made your choice to painful. You had to cut ties with Will, but you had no idea how you'd do that without breaking down.
You took the coward's way out, at least, you thought it was cowardly.
You simply just stopped replying to his text messages. But once he started to text you messages like "can we talk?" you thought you might give him a chance. You said you'd do it tomorrow, then tomorrow turned into the next day, then a week passes, then a month. You stopped thinking about it, you didn't want to think about it, because every time you did, the urge to contact Will got stronger and stronger. You wanted to move on. You needed to move on. But, you never could get him out of your thoughts completely.
Months and months go by, and before you know it, it's Christmastime.
You'd decided to travel around after cutting off contact with Will, mostly just couch hopping with friends, exploring the area to get your mind off how heart broken you felt. It was a good distraction, for awhile. But now that Christmas was soon, you had to go back to your home town; you did miss your family quite a lot. But you did feel that similar anxiousness after coming back home, thinking about Will and the "what ifs." Will always loved spending time with his family during the holidays, and you knew he'd probably be in town.
Just going outside to check the mail was nerve wracking to you, but you chuckled bitterly at your paranoia, it's not like he was going to show up at your house out of the blue. He wouldn't do that.
Your family really wanted a Christmas tree, a real one. You tried to use your allergies as an excuse to just stick with an artificial tree, but your parents were dead set on having a real tree. It wasn't exactly a lie, you used to get real trees, you just couldn't be around one too closely or else you get into a sneezing fit. But you really just didn't want to be out in the town, just in case.
But your family dragged you along to help pick out a tree anyway, in the freezing cold.
You idly kicked some icicles that were formed on the bottom of tree branches, smiling subtly to yourself as you heard the crackle of the ice hitting the concrete. You looked over to see your family still trying to decide on what kind of tree they wanted, and you remembered how indecisive your folks were. You were gonna be there for awhile...
"Y/n?" As if you weren't freezing enough, the voice that you heard from beside you made a chill go up your spine, causing you to sink down more into your coat.
You looked to your left, unluckily for you, seeing your former best friend beside you, an unreadable expression on his face. "Will...? Uh, w-what are you doing here?" You weren't sure if it was the cold that made you stutter, or just the pure nervousness and almost fear that you felt.
Will uncomfortably shifted on his feet, taking a deep breath before answering. "My, uh, mum wanted to have a tree this year. I'm guessing yours did too?"
You nodded curtly. "Yep."
The awkward silence made you want to curl up into a ball and throw yourself off a cliff.
"We should probably talk." Will said.
"Uh," You nervously rubbed your hands together, "I don't think that's a good idea..."
"Why not?" He asked bluntly, his expression turning cold.
You sighed. "I...well, I have to help my parents get this tree so..."
"Fine. I'll come by later."
"Wait-"
"See you tonight." And with that, Will walked away in a hurry, not giving you the chance to refuse.
You bit the inside of your lip hard, a coppery taste coating the tip of your tongue when you explored the small dent in your mouth that you created from stress.
You figured this day would come soon enough. Karma's a bitch, as some say. You thought you'd have a bit more time to prepare yourself for a confrontation, but the universe decided to be a jerk and sucker punch you in the face with your regrets.
You went home, feeling like a knife was twisting in your gut as you helped your family set up your Christmas tree in the living room, constantly glancing at the clock every chance you could.
Eventually, your family decided to leave the house once more, having bought tickets to a play that night, which you politely declined to go to. You weren't interested in yet another retelling of the Christmas story acted out by little bratty children who couldn't remember their lines half the time. No, you have somewhat decent standards.
You just sat on the living room couch with your family pet, staring at the clock, seeing the hands move slowly until it finally reached nine o'clock. You untensed for a moment, thinking that maybe Will decided to not come over. The loud ring of the doorbell quickly squashed that idea.
You opened the door, not surprised to see Will on the other side, his cold expression unchanged from when you last saw him.
You said nothing as you moved aside, opening the door wider for Will as he walked in.
The air felt thick, like there wasn't enough oxygen for both of you to be in the same room. It felt similar to whenever you pulled your blankets over your head when you were little and afraid of the dark, thinking that nothing can hurt you if you were completely wrapped up in the comfort of your duvet, but never getting enough fresh air to keep those blankets over your head, eventually having to pull the blankets off to breathe. You really wished you had a blanket now...
"Well?" Will broke the silence, looking to you expectantly.
You shrugged slightly. "Well what?"
Will chuckled bitterly, shaking his head. "You know what, Y/n." When you didn't reply, he continued. "You stop talking to me all of a sudden, for months, not even telling me why. I need to know why, I deserve an explanation."
You sighed, looking anywhere but at him. "I just...needed some time away..." What a fucking lie...
"Some time away, really? That's your excuse? We were best friends, everything was fine, so what went wrong, huh? Why did you just up and leave everything behind without telling me?" You closed your eyes, trying to calm yourself as his voice got louder with every sentence. "Are you even listening to me? Do you hate me now, is that it? I don't know what I did, please, tell me." He pleaded.
"Will..." You whispered, finally looking to him to see unshed tears in his eyes. "it was me, not you. You didn't do anything wrong..."
Will stepped closer to you, his arms crossed. "Do you have any idea how much it hurt to be ghosted by the one person you thought cared about you the most? It really fucking hurt. And now, you're just standing here like you don't even care."
"I do care, Will." You said softly, reaching out to touch him but he quickly flinched away.
"Then why did you leave? I want the truth."
"I wasn't happy...with myself...with you." You started, walking over to take a seat on your couch. "I felt alone. You spent all your time with your partner, you rarely had time for me anymore."
"Wait, my partner?"
"Yeah...the beginning of this year, you started dating that person, I forgot their name..."
Will shook his head. "It didn't work out with them, I'm not seeing anyone, haven't for awhile. But that's not the point. Why didn't you just tell me that you felt alone? You know I would've made time for you if that's what you needed."
You felt like you wanted to scream, frustration starting to consume you, but you settled for a muffled groan. "It wasn't just because I felt alone..."
"Then what?"
Fuck it...
"Because I hated seeing you date other people. I absolutely hated it. And when you started gushing about how amazing this person was, I felt like I wanted to bash my head in with a hammer." Okay, maybe that was a little exaggerated, but you got your point across.
"You didn't want me to date other people?" Will's heart beat rapidly in his chest, just the thought of why you possibly felt that was making him anxious to ask, "Why?"
You were scared to answer, afraid of his reaction. What if he hated you? That would be the worst case scenario, you'd rather die than have him hate you. But, you did owe it to Will to tell him the truth. The unfiltered, honest truth.
"We've been friends for as long as I can remember. We always told each other everything." You smiled weakly. "We'd always be happy for each other whenever we went on dates and found people that made us happy. But...there was a point where I realized that no matter how many dates I went on with other people, I never truly found happiness in those people. Because, I always thought about someone else...you." You looked up at Will. "You've always been the one person to make me truly happy. And I finally figured it out, it's not because you were my best friend, it's because...you're the one I always wanted to be with, Will."
Will took a deep, shuddering breath, trying to take in your words. "That night, when I was about to go on that date, you weren't yourself. You looked sad..."
"I didn't want you to go. I wanted you to stay with me." You wiped away a few fallen tears with your sleeve, sighing tearfully. "I was being selfish...really selfish." You frowned.
Will carefully sat beside you, looking straight ahead. The red and green lights placed crookedly on the Douglas fir being one of the only light sources in the room, illuminating your tear ridden face and causing a reflective shine to Will's glassy sorrowful eyes.
"I had no idea." Will said, being the first one to break the silence yet again.
"That was kind of the point." You sniffled, curling your knees up to your chest.
"...I'm sorry."
You furrowed your brows, looking to Will in confusion. "Why are you sorry? I'm the only one who should be sorry."
Will shook his head. "No..." He laughed sharply, clenching his fists in his lap. "It's funny."
"What is?" You asked, trying not to sound offended.
"I've spend years trying to get over my feelings for you, and you tried to do the same. Guess I'm not as intuitive as I thought."
You silently gasped. "Will? You...? Huh?"
Will smiled weakly. "I only started dating other people because I was trying to push away my feelings for you, and of course, it didn't work."
"Will, if this is some joke-"
"It's not. Have I ever lied to you?"
"...no. You've had feelings for me this entire time? And I punished you for it..." You said as you felt the tears well up in your eyes again.
"No, Y/n, no. You had no way of knowing, just like I had no way of knowing how you felt about me."
"I'm so sorry, Will. I never should've left."
Will quickly grabbed a hold of your hand, bringing it up to his lips to place a gentle kiss on your knuckles. "You're here now. It's okay...we're okay."
"Can you ever forgive me?"
Will smiled softly. "Of course. I've never been able to stay mad at you for long."
You frowned. "What if I deserve it?"
"No. No, you don't. It's all going to be okay."
You took a deep breath, trying not to burst into tears again as Will pulled you close, wrapping his arms around you in a tight embrace. "What now?"
"Maybe it's too early to ask but...we could go on a date." Will chuckled weakly.
You looked back up at Will, trying to hide your growing smile. "Really?"
"If that's what you want."
You looked at the clock. "It's getting a little late, I don't think that many places would be open right now. We could go out tomorrow?"
"It's a date." Will smiled.
You sighed. "I really wish I would've talked to you about this instead of running away..."
Will shook his head, bringing his hand up to gently caress your cheek. "I shouldn't have raised my voice earlier. So now we both have something we regret. But it's okay, Y/n. I felt like running away quite a few times myself whenever you went out with someone else...or just hiring a hitman or something."
You laughed genuinely, playfully pushing Will's shoulder. "I think my family is gonna be home soon."
"That's my cue to leave, I take it?"
You pouted. "I don't want you to."
"Well, hey, we'll see each other tomorrow." He smiled.
You walked Will to your front door, frowning as he opened it. "I never used to be the clingy type with anyone."
Will turned around to face you, wrapping an arm around your waist to pull you in for a warm hug. "It's all going to be okay. We're gonna do this thing right."
You pulled away with a huff, looking deeply into his eyes. "I really want to kiss you right now." You giggled.
Will grinned, replying to your statement by leaning in, delicately brushing his lips over yours before fully placing them onto yours passionately. You could truthfully say that the kiss made you weak in the knees, it was everything you imagined it to be and more. It was intoxicating.
The kiss quickly got heated, and you didn't know if you'd be able to stop yourself. Will grabbed at your sides, trying to pull you even closer than you were already, eliciting a quiet moan from you when he gently pulled on the roots of your hair. But you finally forced yourself to stop, trying to catch your breath.
"Sorry." Will quickly apologized.
"I didn't want to stop." You snickered, running your hands through your now tangled hair. "We haven't even gone on our first date yet and I already want to rip your clothes off."
Will blushed and grinned. "Guess we'll just have to save it for tomorrow then."
"Tomorrow it is."

I had trouble writing this, if you couldn't already tell. Ugh, I have no idea why the reunion bit threw me off balance so badly

Now that both Courtney books are out and I’ve read and processed them both, I do want to say that I think they’re the least well-written of any of the AG books, but not through any fault of their own- let me explain.
(Note that for this discussion I’m ignoring the Doylist criticisms- Courtney and 3/4 of her friend group being white again, the lack of gay discussion in-text in regards to the HIV crisis, etc. These are valid complaints and concerns, but not what we’re talking about right now.)
The Problem with the Current Book Length
Tumblr media
I think the main problem with Courtney stems from the fact her books are so short. American Girl has literally been doing the stupidest things in regards to their books lately, almost as if they’re trying to sabotage them on purpose. First they remove illustrations in 2015- when their target audience is about nine years old. I don’t know about you, but when I was six and getting into American Girl, the illustrations were the highlight for me. Not because I had no attention span and loved pretty pictures, but because it showed me firstly what the girl’s life was like, whether it be 1760s wilderness or 2001 Chicago. It was like stepping into their world, really helping you get into their heads, which was basically what the dolls were supposed to do, to let you know that girls like you exist throughout time and space.
As well as that, the illustrations were free advertisement. I can’t tell you how excited me and my sisters were as children to go to the American Girl place and look at the doll displays, shouting that that’s the dress Felicity wears to the ball! or look, Josefina’s goat looks exactly like the book! AG cut that from 2015 to 2020, as if they were trying to appeal to an older audience- while at the same time changing all the doll outfits, accessories and marketing to appeal to a younger demographic.
Now, this isn’t about the illustrations, as Courtney got those- it’s about what they did to the historical characters after the Illustration Outrage™ happened. See, they’d condensed the historical six-book format into two books- not necessarily a bad idea, parents would be more likely to buy two books for their kid than consider buying six. However, they then claimed that if they put illustrations back, they would have to abridge the books- literally my nightmare.
First of all, American Girl, we know for a fact you can fit all six books plus illustrations into ONE VOLUME, let alone two. You’re just being cowards here and trying to nerf your own stories for... some reason.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So that meant a lot of important things got cut- Rebecca’s Chanukah story, Melody’s cousin’s house search, Maryellen’s Christmas adventure... all things important to the girls’ histories and character.
The Problem with Courtney’s Writing
Tumblr media
Now, Courtney was the first doll to be released after the abridging began, meaning her books were released, in their entirety, just as short as the abridged stories. So it basically means she gets four books while the others get six- and unlike the others, Courtney doesn’t even have mysteries or short stories to pad out. (And honestly, looking at her book’s amount of content, I’d even argue that she basically got two while everyone else got six, but I digress.)
The problem with her books isn’t that they have an author writing them poorly (I really feel like her author was doing the best with what limited time she had), but in how cramped American Girl made them. Because, well, Courtney has to deal with a lot in such a short amount of words.
Let’s compare her to Julie, for instance- Julie pretty much has a new 70s thing every book. In order: feminism, rising divorce rates, San Francisco’s Chinese culture, environmentalism, the country’s bicentennial, anti-bullying and deaf acceptance. And adding to this, we also have her own personal journies through her parents’ divorce and move, her basketball team, her friendship with Ivy (and later Joy), overcoming her fear of horses, student council, detention... It’s a lot, and yet her books don’t feel rushed or forced at all. It’s just a year in the life of a girl going through a lot of new and sudden events, and how she grows and changes throughout them. She may not be as deep a character as Addy or Kirsten, but not every girl goes through the trials and tribulations they do, and it’s a good series overall.
Courtney, meanwhile, does feel rushed and forced, because of the short timespan. Instead of fitting everything into a six-book format- or even at two-book format that is the same length and content as the six-book- everything has to be fit into two short books.   Everything Courtney has to cover includes the topics of divorce and stepfamilies, feminist and technological advancement, the Challenger explosion, the HIV crisis, Hands Across America, and the founding of Pleasant Company. And in Courtney’s own journey, she has to cover her learning to stand up for herself, her relationship with her stepsister and Tina’s own character development, her mother running for mayor and how that affects her, how much she misses her Dad after he moves, her friendship with Sarah (note on that later), her basically getting hate-crimed after standing up for her friend... that’s a LOT of stuff, and I didn’t even include the non-AG 80s product placement they shove into her collection.
Tumblr media
But without the longer format, everything is pushed together to its detriment. Tina’s development and Maureen’s mayoral candidacy are two plotlines that are literally dropped and almost completely ignored in the second book. The Challenger and HIV issues were handled decently, but the Challenger only lasted a few short chapters, and the HIV topic was not as informative as it could be, leaving out several things like Reagan’s refusal to treat it for so long, and its effect on the gay community. Honestly, the HIV scare was more shifted to focus on the mob mentality of a new and scary disease- which, while needed right now, also ignores many of the bigotry-related reasons it became an epidemic. Pleasant Company’s inclusion feels forced in, and I think was the only resolution she had to her Dad plotline?
And don’t get me started on the Sarah plotline- every Girl of the Year since Kanani- sans Isabelle and Luci- has had the story of “oh no I’ve been ignoring my friend and now they’re mad at me :(” and it’s SO old. Seriously, I counted the contemporary dolls that have had that storyline, and it’s thirteen*. Thirteen times we’ve covered this issue- almost all of it in quick succession- and now we have to deal with it in a historical character book while much more important things are going on! Yes, it sucks when a friend ditches you while you’re being attacked and bullied for something you’re standing up for, but once again, with how much is happening in such a short book, it just feels like a forced-in plotline that we’ve seen a billion times, and with their falling-out happening mainly due to the attention Courtney was given Isaac, it serves to make Sarah seem closed-minded at best and bigoted at worst- it’s clarified that she’s not, she’s just scared and upset with Courtney, but when you put those events so close together, it leads the reader to lump them together and get the impression that, you know, Sarah is a worse person than she is.
*Full count: Nicki (book 2), Chrissa (book 2), Kanani (2), McKenna (1 iirc?), Saige (both books), Grace (2), Lea (3), Gabriela (1 and 3), Tenney (2), Z (1), Blaire (1), Joss (1) and Kira (1).
It’s a bit weird, too, that Courtney’s... what’s the word? Vibe? with her how her story is written and marketed Is closer to the Contemporaries than the Historicals. Am I the only one feeling this? My best explanation for it is that the author, Kellen Hertz, had only written contemporary books for American Girl before- the third Lea Clark book and all four Tenney Grant books, both of which contained the Friendship Issues™ plot. I’m not at all saying she’s a bad author- I honestly love the way the Tenney books are written- and I’m not saying she couldn’t write a historical book, but it’s clear American Girl didn’t ask her to change up her style or content from what she’d done for them before, as well as giving her way too much to cover in such short books.
Conclusion
Tumblr media
Honestly, this conclusion should be obvious- American Girl needs to expand their books again. Whether they simply allow the books to be unabridged, or go back to the six-book format, Courtney's books are too cramped to tell an effective story, let alone the poor abridged girls.
The other girls were given six-book length, so if they went back to that length or format, Courtney would have to be rewritten, at least a little- and that’s okay! There’s a lot of things that could use expansion or connection, such as her Summer trip with her Dad that was given basically one sentence in the text. Her growth with her stepfamily could be acknowledged- and honestly? I think that if these books were expanded, her mother’s mayoral arc should either continue through the books, or Maureen should become mayor before the book 2 arc. I’ve mentioned this before, but having Maureen as mayor (or even still a candidate) would put a lot of pressure on Courtney to be perfect so that nobody can say “look at how awful this woman is for doing politics instead of raising her family right”- which means that when the Isaac stuff happens, it has even more stakes for Courtney and her family. Does her Mom still support her with her own reputation on the line, and what does that say about Maureen’s character, how does it affect Courtney and the D’Amicos... that’s all fascinating stuff that was completely missed out on.
And if she was turned into a six-book format- honestly, here’s how I’d do it, just off the top of my head. It would involve a bit of event shuffling, but honestly I think it would work!
Meet Courtney - pretty much the setup for everything happening, her starting to get her Crystal Starshooter plans and her mom’s campaign beginning.
Courtney Learns a Lesson - her relationship to Tina, culminating in the Challenger incident.
Courtney’s Surprise - we move the founding of Pleasant Company over here, since Molly’s basically her Christmas Present. We’ll probably need an additional plotline- maybe similar to Julie, she can have a story on spending the holidays in different places.
Happy Birthday Courtney - end of summer, aka meeting Isaac and her trip with her Dad.
Courtney Saves the Day - Beginning of the HIV arc, ending at her presentation to her class.
Changes for Courtney - Continuation of the HIV arc as things get worse for her and Isaac, ending where Friendship Superhero ends.
Is that a perfect sorting? Probably not, I came up with it in ten minutes. But would it give Courtney space to breathe and more time to explore everything happening to her? Probably!
The tl;dr of this is honestly that American Girl are absolute cowards right now, and need to expand their books back. Their abridging is only harming their stories- which, as Courtney herself points out, are the reason girls got into their company in the first place.

Words of a drunk
Tumblr media
Pairing: King x OC
Words: 835.
Warnings: Mentions of sex and insults to Orochi.
Requested by: @bottlepiecemuses
Can I have a scenario where Sayuri gets drunk at last year's fire festival (this would take place a year before the current arc fire festival) during a drinking contest with Kaido? It would be a year officially she became King's mistress. Also Orochi would be there as well. During her drunken state she would spill out some things like calling out some of Orochi's flaws and embarrassing secrets and when it looks like she would tell crucial facts about King being a Lunarian she catches herself quickly even in her drunken state due to her loyalty and love to him and switches to praising his sexual prowess in bed.
A/N: Enjoy it ;)
Sayuri's Pov One more drink. Then another one. Lips surrounding glass. Liquid going down. Burning. I go back to drink another drink. My head is shaking off. Should I stop drinking?
I look at Kaido and see him emptying another canteen before looking at me with a triumphant smile.
— Giving up already, Sayu — Before he says anything, I bring another bottle to my lips and tilt my head back, letting the alcohol run down my throat quickly.
When I'm done with the bottle, I grab another one and repeat the process before he can even say anything. I grab a third one and before emptying its content, I look at Kaido defiantly, who before this does not sit idly by and grabs another bottle. King's Pov After hours of drinking, Kaido and Sayuri seem to have put aside their competition and are now laughing at something unknown to me. I decide not to give it importance since both handle alcohol well. I approach them and sit without paying attention to them. Instead, I focus on something more important: Orochi. He hasn't had a drink all night, and from the beginning he sat next to Kaido and Sayuri. Something tells me he's up to no good, and inviting him to the Fire Festival may not have been the best idea Kaido has had in a long time. Whatever it is, I'm going to find out. Sayuri's Pov — The idiot told me he could beat me. He ended up dead with just one hit! Worororororororo!
— Hahahahahahaha! You are so funny, Kaido-sama! — I tell him as I can between laughs.
— And you're not as boring as I thought. Worororororo!
We keep drinking.
— I 'm also very funny! — exclaims my uncle.
As soon as we heard him, Kaido and I slowly moved the bottles away and I, unable to help it, burst out laughing, causing the sake in my mouth to end up on his face. Everyone falls into a great silence, and Kaido bursts out laughing along with me. Soon everyone is laughing except for my uncle.
— Now you're hilarious! — Orochi gets up, ready to leave, but I grab his arm to stop him, but I lose my balance and fall, taking him to the ground with me. I look at him, ready to apologize, but I laugh again when I see that he is red with anger and my lips seem to move on their own — Aww, now you look like a baby about to throw a tantrum!
— Worororororororo!
—  Wait a minute… A few days ago, you fell in the same way and pretended that nothing happened. It's not my fault that we fell, it's yours. You are clumsy!
— I am not-
— Yesterday, you also fell down the stairs. TWICE — I approach him and put a hand on his shoulder — Calm down man, you're not less of a person for being clumsy — I smile at him, and he seems to compose himself a bit — You're less of a person for being a coward and a piece of shit.
Now he is really upset.
And now I'm aware that I'm drunk.
He takes a deep breath and expels it slowly.
— Since when do you have so much self-control? The last time someone pissed you off, he ended up dead. Not because you killed him, of course… — he turns red again —That's something I admire about King. He always does things for himself — at the mention of King, his ugly face returns to its original color.
— Oh yeah? And apart from being independent, what is he like? — He asks me with a mischievous smile.
— It's beautiful — His smile grows. Wait a minute. Now I understand everything. Doesn't he want to know about King? Now he will know.
— King is beautiful and big. Just like his dick.
I see him pale and as a drop of sweat rolls down his temple. Wasn't that what he wanted?
— He's sooo big that if I wanted, I could use his cock as a pole dance bar.
Kaido stops laughing, just like everyone else, and pays attention to what I say.
— Sometimes I even think he's a sorcerer, because with that wand he works wonders. And when he puts me in four? For me, he is a god. The god of sex to be exact because I can't find any other explanation for why he's so good in bed. And how long does he last in bed? King is beyond a mere mortal.
He has shrunk into the site and is looking for a way out of this. I look around for King and when we make eye contact he begs me to stop. I decide to heed to what he tells me.
I stop and look once more at my uncle.
— Anything else you want to know about King? — And after my words he leaves the place in a hurry.
I look around and everyone is looking at King now, including a gaping Kaido and a furious Queen.
I think this year's fire festival is going great so far.

Best Friend
Chapter Three
masterlist
After one or two hours you decided it was time to go to the hotel, the truth was that you hardly drank, and most of them were already pretty bad, Lando hadn't drank as much as the others so you decided to go with him,
-Ready?" he asked while he put on his jacket.
-Yep, I'll just say goodbye to Daniel and Max.
-Ok, I'll go with you.
Both went to look for the pilots, they quickly found Daniel who was on top of a table dancing, you just said goodbye with your hand, you didn't want to interrupt him, and he didn't seem to want to come down, the Dutchman was a little more difficult but when they arrived you saw him asleep with his mouth open on the bar, the worst of all was that he was hugging a bottle of whiskey.
-God, look at him, he looks like a pauper," mocked Lando.
-You tried to lift the Dutchman but he was too heavy, Lando tried to take the bottle from him and he immediately moved in annoyance, but he didn't wake up.
-All right, let's go," said Lando, "I won't let him hit me," you gave him a dirty look.
-Don't be a coward.
-Coward?!!!!!!- shouted the British -You know how violent he gets when he is upset, and I am more than sure that if we wake him up he will be upset, he will see that it was us who woke him up, then all his fury will fall on me.
-And about me.
-Yeah sure, ______, you and I both know he won't do anything to you, in fact, after he beats me up, he'll say, "Thanks ____"- you laughed at his bad imitation of Max, but he was right.
-All right, if you help me, I'll protect your scrawny ass.
-Okay.
Lando with a strong pull took the bottle from him, Max woke up because of the movement, and immediately stood up, he turned around and as soon as he saw Lando he tried to push him, but because of the state he was in, he became unbalanced and ended up stumbling, Lando and you helped him to stand up again.
-Come on Mad Max," you said, "we'll go to the hotel and have a big cup of coffee.
-I don't want coffee" he complained, but he followed you without any problem, Lando drove the stretch from the disco to the hotel, you had the head of the blue-eyed man in your legs, then with a little complications, a few falls and a few other curses they could finally take him to his suite, they left him lying on the bed.
Well, I'll go to the bathroom and then to my room," said the British man.
-Okay Lando, I'll stay a little longer.
Lando just nodded and left the room, you started to untie Max's shoelaces, he stood up a little bit to see what you were doing, you continued with your work.
-Will you give me a blowjob," asked the Dutchman as he folded his hands behind his head.
-Of course," you said sarcastically, "And when Lando comes out I'll tell him to join us, do you agree honey," you saw how his smile grew, "Pig," you threw his shoe at him, but apparently even in the state he was in he was pretty fast, because he caught it as if it was nothing.
-No, we'd better wait for him to leave.
-You're disgusting.
-Still you love me, schatje," he said in his native tongue, and he made himself more comfortable on the bed and made a place for you, "Come," he said so that you lay down next to him, took off your shoes and got on the bed with him.
-Go back to sleep," you said as you settled into bed.
-Well, stop moving," the blue-eyed man lay on his back and pulled you to his chest.
-Max," you complained, "If Lando comes in, what will he think of me," you said dramatically, but he didn't listen to you, he just stared at you, maybe he was too drunk, you thought. -He just shook his head, but you noticed him different, he was getting too close to you, it wasn't uncomfortable but it was a little strange because he had never behaved that way with you, it seemed like when he was about to kiss one of his conquests.... Oh my god he was going to kiss you, you had wanted that for a long time but not like that, not when he was drunk, not in his bed, you wanted it to be something nice, on a date, or when he won a GP and from the emotion he would run to you and kiss you, maybe it sounded like a movie but it was something you had fantasized about for the last few years.
Besides, what would happen if they kissed and it wasn't what they wanted, would it break the friendship, you didn't want that, it would be like throwing five years of friendship to the trash, but what if you didn't try it now, would you lose an opportunity that maybe you wouldn't? You would lose an opportunity that maybe would never be repeated, there were many things going through your mind, and without thinking about it you were already closer to each other, and just like that the space that separated you was cut, you were kissing Max Verstappen, your best friend, your brother's friend and co-worker, and the truth was that you were enjoying it, it was quite soft, not rushed or rough, and apparently he was enjoying it too because he kept running his hands over your back, you felt like you were in the fifth heaven.
-Max -that was the only thing that came out of your lips, when they separated to breathe he smiled, he didn't know what to say, he finally had you in his arms as he wanted, with a quick movement he made you lie on your back, he settled on top of you, he intertwined his hands and joined his lips again in another kiss, This one was a little faster and more intense than the previous one, you felt how his tongue tried to enter your mouth, you loved how he took control of the situation, it was so passionate, but it was getting out of control, you couldn't stop, you liked this side of the Dutchman, but you didn't want to do something crazy either, not at that moment. Max- you said for the second time, you separated a little, and you visualized the huge smile of the blue-eyed man.
-What's up schatje- he took your hand and started to leave wet kisses on the palm of your hand, ok, he was a good seducer, but you couldn't just let yourself go, he was a total dream, but you knew his reputation, today you would be the prey of the day, today he would adore you and tomorrow you would be one more in the harem of women that the dutchman had all over the world, and to be honest you didn't want that.
-I have to go" was the first thing that came out of your lips, you were nervous, you really adored Max and for that reason you couldn't stand not having him in your life, maybe if he wasn't drunk and this happened in other conditions, you would say yes.
You got out of bed and left the room, leaving a confused Max and only maybe you could see a little sadness, you found Lando taking a cereal bar that Max had in the living room.
-I was just leaving," he saw your distressed face, "Did something happen?
-Can we talk tomorrow?" you asked.
-Sure.
-You immediately left the suite and went straight to your room, you dropped on your bed, did Max feel the same as you or were you just the new whim of the week?

Since I loved your one shot about Lena, I'm requesting another one! Reader is a single mom and is afraid to tell Lena about her child cause she thinks Lena isn't going to take it well, but in the end Lena loves her child.
Lena Luthor x Reader #2
Words: 1,590
Tumblr media
Warnings: none?
Notes:
Thank you for requesting! If you’d like me to change the name of the kid (or the gender) feel free to say so. Also...sorry if you were expecting more of Lena. I realized at the end that there might not have been enough (Sorry for spelling mistakes too).
———
Miles, your eight year old son, has started to pretend he’s a psychologist. He’ll sit you down, with your head in his small lap (which isn’t very ethical), and ask you about your life problems.
Usually, you’ll make up funny nonsense that he’ll struggle to find the solution to...but today a very real problem has arrived, and you know you shouldn’t be trying to confide in your little boy about this, yet you decide to anyway.
He knows about you and Lena, though Lena doesn’t know about him. He saw her on TV once, was awestruck by her “smartness”, and you let slip that she’s the woman you’ve been dating.
Dating used as a loose term, because you and Lena haven’t actually become anything official. It’s...weird. Made even more so by the fact that she doesn’t know about the most important person in your life.
You tell Miles as much in today’s session. He beams down at you, happy that you’re finally starting to take his sessions seriously, and then taps his finger against his lip, thinking. “You should just tell her,” he finally concludes after a long pause.
You narrow your eyes up at him suspiciously, and wonder if you should just pretend to take his advice and move on. You don’t. “People usually don’t want to get involved with single moms.”
His eyes furrow at that, clearly upset, so you rush on. “If someone doesn’t want to be involved with you, none of me longs to be involved with them,” then, you pause, “I just want to want to be involved with Lena.”
“So this stems from past trauma?” Miles asks, and you gape at him, shocked.
“Where the f—when did you learn any of those words, honey?”
He grins at you again, clearly proud of himself, and then schools his face into an attempt of looking professional. It’s humorous. “Psy- Psych—”
“Psychology.”
“Yes, that. It says that our fears usually come for childhood trauma.”
“I’m not scared,” but even as you say that you know it’s not true. You make a mental note to watch over whatever the hell Miles is listening to, to make sure it’s age appropriate. “Even if I am, it’s definitely not from childhood trauma.”
“From relationship trauma then?”
You let out a shocked laugh, completely stumped. “Baby, your eight. If you keep saying smart things you’re going to start scaring me.”
“Let's talk about your fears,” He suggests. Clearly wanting to move on he gestures for you to sit up. Once you do, he hops up from the couch, grabs his clipboard from the coffee table, and starts scribbling down things you aren’t able to see.
“Okay,” you hesitantly agree. “I’m scared Lena will want nothing to do with me.”
“Why is that something you're scared of?”
You give him a confused look that he pays no attention to. “Obviously I like her...I also fear that you won’t.”
He nods, finally looking up from his clipboard. “And what happens if I hate her, and she hates me, so she leaves and you never speak to her again?”
You choke on absolutely nothing.
“What will you do then?” Miles asks, and you have no response for him. He doesn’t seem to want one. “You’ll deal with it, like you always have. So stop worrying until it comes. If it comes.”
You’re equal parts extremely proud of him, and extremely concerned as you think over what he’s said.
Then, as if he’s tired of being the smartest eight year old alive, he hands you the paper he was working on for half of your ‘session’. The paper is full of sharp lines that get more curvy and tangled the closer they get to what appears to be the middle.
“This,” he says, “is how you’re feeling.”
And you believe him.
———
It takes you a week to build up the courage to tell Lena about Miles. He surprisingly helped you come to the realization that holding off on telling Lena the truth won’t change the outcome.
In fact...it would probably make things more complicated. Even now, she deserved to know sooner than this.
It’s too late, of course. There’s no point in wishing you had done differently.
“Are you okay?” Lena asks through the phone, sounding so beautifully concerned over the fact that you haven’t spoken for awhile. God, you're whipped for this world-saving genius.
“Yeah,” you say, “just...you know how I said I had something to talk to you about?” You don’t wait for her to confirm, because of course she remembers, she’s looked scared because of it all day. “I sort of have to show you...so would you mind coming over?”
Yes, you’re a coward that’s hoping Lena seeing Miles for herself, instead of you telling her about him, will make her more accepting. Miles has a very convincing charm.
“You want me to go to your place?” Lena sputters, clearly shocked.
In an instant you regret the decision you were so sure about before. Maybe Lena isn’t ready. You should tell her before she comes, so she isn’t shocked out of her mind when she sees him.
You should—
“Okay,” Lena says, determined. You hadn’t even responded to her before. “I’ll be there soon.” And then she hangs up the phone before you manage to say anything, leaving you wondering what the fuck you’re doing.
You could call her back.
...you’re not going to. You’re too scared.
——
Miles waits by the door, dressed in his best suit. He knows how anxious you are about this, despite how hard you’ve been trying to hide it since your weird ‘session’, so he says he’s going to try and be the best him he can be.
You tell him that all he needs to be is his normal self and everything will be alright, but he admits to being nervous to meet Lena too, because she’s super smart. (He’s been watching anything he can find of her on the internet)
Thus, the two of you wait together impatiently, trying not to descend into madness.
——
At some point Miles starts making and handing you scribbles of how you feel, and you start making and handing them back.
It’s while you’re handing Miles your next piece that the doorbell rings.
He doesn’t look to be that nervous anymore, just excited, so he follows you on your track to answer the door, and with each step you contemplate your entire existence beyond Miles.
Then…Then you open the door.
Miles is hiding behind your leg, looking up at Lena with hesitant hopefulness and uncertainty, it’s the exact match of the way you’re looking at her, and Lena is looking at him with wide eyes.
Because you’re sure you’re about to die from the silence, you croak out a wobbly and quiet; “hi,” at the same time Mile’s sticks out his hands and says his own charming greeting.
“Hello, doctor Y/L/N here. Nice to meet you.”
“Lena Luthor.” As if on autopilot Lena shakes his hand. “You’re a doctor?” She asks, smiling the smallest of smiles at him.
He nods his head eagerly, glad she’s smiling. “Yeah! Of—of psy- psych...”
“Psychology,” You finish. Lena’s gaze switches to you. It’s the moment you think you’re gonna die, but her gaze is concerned instead of disappointed.
“He’s older than the photo on your wallpaper suggested,” Lena says.
Oh.
Oh…
You’re an idiot.
Then, Lena smiles—wider this time because of your dumbstruck expression—and looks at Miles. “To be a doctor you have to be pretty smart.”
He nods, his eyes practically full of stars.
“That’s how I know you and I are going to get along great.”
Miles grins madly, pushes you a bit to the side so Lena can come in, and says, eager, “can I show you my work, please?”
And Lena looks from you, to him, laughs a laugh full of amusement and endearment, and agrees gracefully. “I’d love it if you would.”
———
Lena adores Miles.
Around him she almost seems, impossibly, like a child herself. She so obviously and beautifully wants him to like her, and all the while Miles is almost exactly the same around her.
They’re both complete dorks trying to subtly get each other's attention and all you want to do is watch the two of them interact for ages.
They both were two separate parts of your life, and now they’re merged better than you ever expected them to.
It’s great. Absolutely great. But whenever they turn their twin gazes on you you’re sure you’re going to melt into a puddle of adoration.
Wow.
“What is it?” You ask them, after they’ve both looked at you for too long without saying anything.
Lena tilts her head, her smile concerned again, “you look like you’re about to cry.”
Miles nods his agreement. “What’s wrong mom? Does whatever bothering you stem from childhood trauma?” He asks, and at Lena’s ‘the fuck’ face you burst out into a fit of laughter, that quickly turns into tears of absolute love.
Both Miles and Lena looked at you with alarm because they don’t realize this is the happiest you’ve been in a while. It is though. It is.
“Not childhood trauma,” you assure them both, and before Miles can suggest it you add; “not past relationship trauma either, it’s happy tears.”
“Oh,” Lena stutters, “good.”
“Oh,” Miles repeats, sounding relieved and a tad bit disappointed. “I haven’t learned how to deal with those tears yet.”

A/N: My recent dive into fanfics compelled me to unearth this thing I wrote 5 years ago for a certain curly-haired brit (luvu harry) but I never finished it so it never saw the light of day but now it will bc i love jungkook so much and idk what this is but let’s see!
#
There’s a light and unsure knock at the door. As you open it to see who’s visiting you this Friday night, you immediately wish you stayed at least a half hour later at your family-run café so you didn't have to be having this conversation right now.
But you are having it right now. At your apartment. With your ex-boyfriend who finally decided to give you an explanation as to why he broke up with you five months ago.
The next thing you know, he’s saying he’s decided to move back to Australia after graduation, he’s saying sorry for the nth time, you’re watching him walk out the door, you’re heading to your room for your blanket, you’re going back to your couch, and then you’re crying as it dawns on you exactly what just happened.
The break up had caught you off-guard because things were going so well. Your dejected and grieving self wasn’t enough to scare him away and his shy, non-expressive self didn’t sow any doubts on your relationship. You two barely fought, too, too alike in disposition for any disagreements or grudges to fester and hurt you. Things just worked.
But like many good things, this one ended too. It’s like he just woke up one day and decided it wasn’t going to work out anymore, for what reason, you never knew until now. It hurt you, of course - it was still a memorable 2-year run - but true to form, you were able to dust yourself off quickly and get back on your feet shortly after.
You tried to reach out though; you were good friends before anything anyway, but he avoided you like the plague and you thought you’d not only lost a boyfriend but a friend too. Tonight felt like the closure you didn’t know you needed. He’s gone, for good. And then after graduation, he will be gone for good, for good.
You stay lying on your couch until you get a text from Jungkook, your new famous friend and current favorite person.
JK: Ran into Jieun at work, says drinks on her at The Third tonight. You up for it?
Nope, you say to yourself.
You: I don't wanna go out tonight.
You immediately reply. On a normal night you’d think about it, or even pretend you’re considering it, but not tonight.
It isn’t one of those nights when you’re sad and you want to be around people and get wasted so you can convince yourself you will be okay. It’s one of those nights when you’re sad and you know you will be okay the next day but right now you’re not and you’ll deal with it until the morning comes. You’ll just have to wait because it is only 7:30 in the evening.
You try to think of a series you’ll binge-watch, but then your phone rings and it’s Jungkook’s meme face, the one he took last week and saved as his contact photo, lighting up the screen.
“Hey, you alright?” He asks, as you groggily pick up and say “hi.” You think he probably thought something was up when you didn't have a follow up message after you turned him down for something.
“Yup,” you manage to respond after an ugly sniffle. “Except I’ve been ugly crying for the past 10 minutes,” you continue.
“What happened?”
He seems to have stepped out of wherever he was because you hear the mumbles in the background soften quite a bit and you figure you probably disturbed his dinner.
“Jinyoung came over and said the shit I needed to hear five months ago,” you start. “He copped out cause he got scared, Jungkook. Not of getting hurt, okay, which I always said was a bullshit reason for anything but he got scared of me and my dreams. I mean, come on, how much of a fucking coward can you get?” you blurt, sniffles in between phrases, fingers pressing the bridge of your nose to try and keep yourself from crying even more.
“But I don't know, I’m pissed but he looked so sad and sorry and now he’s moving back to Australia and I just…” you try to continue, frustration rising up again. You’re a mess of emotions right now, that’s for sure.
“Ah, boys,” Jungkook breathes out, knowing this conversation is too important for it to be had just over the phone. “I could come over with food if you like. I know you probably don't need me but you need the food so…” he trails.
You smile to yourself. “As long as I’m not disturbing your Friday night plans.”
“You aren’t. I’ve had enough of the hyungs, if I’m being completely honest,” he replies, voice a little louder.
You hear a mix of scolding and laughter in the background, knowing for sure that the rest of the guys are giving Jungkook shit for bailing out on them for you. Again.
“Sounds good,” you say. “Thanks.”
#
You hear a knock on the door under the fleece blanket you have over your fetus-laid body on the couch.
“It’s open!” You shout, as you tuck the soft white material under your chin and move to your side for a more comfortable position. You look at the built, chocolate-eyed, knife-for-a-jawline pop star walk into your place with what looks like take-out Japanese food.
“What happened to locking doors?” He asks with a concerned and almost terrified tone, brows scrunching under his stray locks, the rest of his hair hiding underneath his black bucket hat.
“I didn't wanna escort Jinyoung to the door because it felt poetic to watch him leave from a distance…” You dramatically say.
“And you were too lazy to walk 10 steps to lock the door, but were energized enough to find your blanket from your mess of a closet in the far corner of your room?” He continues, blinking continuously at you.
“Exactly,” you say, as you point to him as if giving him props for reading your mind.
He rolls his eyes but grins as he does, revealing his dimple that you believe is the first line of offense of his charm. You may not be one of those people who get hysterical when they see him — although you did end up embarrassing yourself when you bumped into him at the café a few months ago when you’d met — but you know charisma when you see it, and you can’t deny that it basically oozes out of him even when he’s not trying.
He sits on the couch, in the area where your feet lie, and he starts unwrapping the food and lays them out on your coffee table. You sit up ready to pounce on the sushi rolls in front of you when he stands up and gets two glasses of water. “Anything else you need from the kitchen?” He asks.
You respond with a no and watch him open the cupboards, and you can’t help but be touched at the effort. Here is a guy whom you’ve only known for a few short months, blowing off his Friday night plans to be with you because your ex-boyfriend decided to show up… and because you needed food and Jungkook knew you wouldn't make your own when you’re upset. You’ll probably just end up with a bowl of ice cream topped with cookie dough and chocolate chips or something.
“Thanks for being here even if I don't really need you to be,” you say after chowing down a salmon roll, legs crossed underneath you as you both sit on the floor and eat from the coffee table.
“You’re overstating that, Y/N,” he laughs, looking at you, as you’re about to have a mouthful of the tuna roll this time. “I’m 200% sure that you would’ve stayed underneath the covers and probably just ate ice cream or gummy worms until morning if I hadn’t come.”
“Fine,” you start, putting the food down, straightening yourself. “Thank you for my happy food and for being here on a Friday night, watching me carbo load on rolls and tempura rice in my jammies under my blanket. It really means a lot.” You flash him a smile.
He laughs at this. “May I remind you that this is nothing compared to last week? Keeping me hostage here wasn’t the most fun. Except for your comfortable couch that I had the pleasure of sleeping in,” he grins, tapping the empty space on the sofa next to him.
Right, last week. How could you forget?
Your days-late New Year celebration ended with you being a goner at the bar, Jungkook being the only one available and strong enough to take you home, what with your friends' adventures and misadventures that night.
By the time you were home, you were completely passed out. Long story short, he had stayed - which you didn’t know he did - you walked out of your room half naked, heard a sound and someone approaching, screamed and grabbed a knife, ready to attack your supposed intruder, who only turned out to be him.
So yes, skipping out on drinks tonight didn't come close to him having to take care of you the week before and almost being stabbed by someone he was only trying to help.
“Please don't remind me,” you say, feeling your cheeks turn red.
“It’s a funny story to tell,” he chuckles and proceeds to get a mouthful of his own tempura rice bowl.  You look at him surprised - didn’t he just have dinner at the dorm? You shrug it off, almost forgetting this is Jungkook you’re talking about and his bottomless pit of a stomach.
“I could’ve killed you!”
He laughs. “But you didn’t.”
“And I didn't have an ex-boyfriend knocking on my door to apologize for being a dick,” you say, sounding serious all of a sudden.
You know that even if you don’t really intend on having Jungkook here, it still means a great deal to you that you have someone you can talk to. You didn’t want to disturb your friends who were busy with their own work and social lives and having him here is really more than you could ask for, especially considering what he does for a living.
“What did he say?” He asks, eyes soft. You’d only mentioned the breakup in passing a few times before because really, what more can you say? Sometimes relationships just run their course; it happens. At least that’s what you thought it all was.
You sigh, readying yourself. “He said that he just started to think about that talk we had about the things we wanted, and he pointed out the fact that I wanted to do so many things and it just scared him—my goals and the fact that I could reach them scared him,” you share, dragging the words and almost shouting at the stupidity of it.
“I know I always say we shouldn't invalidate anyone’s fears but that’s being selfish and just ridiculous.” You put the chopsticks down, as if to prepare yourself for the flurry of emotions you were about to release.
“This guy stood by my side when I got injured and when Grandma died and I was a literal mess. But I got myself together and I got better for myself and for him and then suddenly me wanting more out of life, more for myself, suddenly scared him?” You pause for a bit, catching your breath.
“It’s like, when he realized what I - what we - could become once real life happens, he bolted out the door, out of this country, back to everything he knew before me, before us.”
You’re emotional again, air catching in your throat as you feel the tears pool around your eyes once more. By this time, Jungkook had paused eating his meal to focus all his attention on you.
You continue on about that 15-minute conversation you had - if you could even call it that, given that it was all Jinyoung talking, with you staring at the man you once considered you could have a future with.
Once you’d calmed down, you and Jungkook exchange thoughts about relationships, back and forth with nuggets of wisdom that you don’t really expect from someone you thought didn't have the time of day to maintain a relationship.
He’d be constantly linked with models and fellow pop stars, which he’d noted weren’t anything serious or factual for that matter, at least those that weren’t part of some PR stunt, yet here he is right now, agreeing with what you’re saying and adding a different perspective to things.
He is a hopeless romantic after all, that much he’d admitted during one wine-filled night after crying over Titanic while you were both on the phone (“they literally knew each other for just 3 days, Jungkook, they couldn’t possibly be in love,” you’d shouted. “Ah, 1900s romance,” was all he said. “So beautiful, isn’t it?” Another gulp of wine and then he’d fallen asleep.)
You two find yourselves grabbing the pitcher of Sangria from your fridge and settle on other topics, like what could be acceptable reasons for breaking up with someone, to the ideas of fate and destiny - which you constantly bicker about because you don’t believe in it while he does, oh so passionately - to the afterlife.
“Relationships are so draining,” you say, tipping your head back on the couch, a groan escaping you. “Even after it’s over, it still takes so much out of you.”
“I can only imagine,” he laughs bitterly.
“Words of advice from Friday Night Me - don’t get into one. It’s tiring to pick up the pieces once it’s over.”
“Friday Night You?”
“Yeah, the one who’s upset. Monday Night Me will probably say something different.”
This amuses him, but he nods in agreement nonetheless. “Relationships tend to get messy and I’ve already got enough crazy to deal with,” he continues. “That much I’ve seen watching the hyungs get into these things from the sidelines. I’m sure it’s great and all and I can’t wait to be in one too, don’t get me wrong.” You raise your eyebrow at him.
“I mean hello, Jack and Rose?” You roll your eyes. “Allie and Noah?”
You laugh. Seriously, this guy needs to watch more romantic films.
“But I don’t know, too much going on with me right now, I guess,” he continues, shoulders slumped, eyes suddenly finding your fur rug interesting.
You dwell on this thought a little longer than you had wanted.
You get what he’s saying, though. It’s draining enough for a commoner like you, what more for a worldwide superstar like him? You try to decipher if it’s sadness in his voice, maybe frustration? Resignation? Acceptance?
“But I’m sorry you had to go through that, Y/N.” He says, subject of the conversation now back to you, causing you to break out of your reverie. “I wish I knew what to say to make you feel better,” he says, hand scratching the back of his neck.
“Hey, no need to be sorry! I’ll be fully functional again by tomorrow. I just didn’t realize there was more to the breakup so I was just thrown off a little bit.” You flash him a smile. “But I’m good, really. And the food was enough,” you add. “And your presence, of course.” A smile again. You realize you seem to do that a lot when he’s around.
But you do feel better. You hadn’t thought much about Jinyoung since the breakup until tonight, seeing all the other things going on in your life. But seeing and listening to him made you feel all sorts of emotions that you really just wanted to let out.
You’d kept a lot of these thoughts to yourself the last few months because you didn’t feel like there was more to say after that first goodbye, and it was nice to have Jungkook there to just listen, which is what you said you wanted him to do (“what kind of friend do you want me to be tonight?” He’d asked. “The listening one,” you’d replied.) But you’ve said what you needed to say, felt all that you needed to feel, and now you’re shutting close, under lock and key this time, that chapter of your life once and for all.
After a fairly long silence, when he was sure you’d already expressed all your frustrations, he let out a breath.
“Well, this was a much better option than drinking your sadness away at some club, yeah?” he asks, moving his body to his left side with his back on the armrest so he’s now facing you who’s also back on the couch now, sushi rolls and tempura rice all gone, sangria but a sip left.
“Well, that wasn't an option in the first place, Jeon,” you call out. “I’m not really one who would take advantage of my misery and use it to justify a night of drinking and awkward hook-ups,” you anticipate, recalling the countless times your friends had encouraged you to go out and find someone good enough for a one night stand these past months.
“Ah, so you’re not a fan of hook-ups, no?” He smirks, looking intently at you, clearly curious about your thoughts on the idea. It’s amusing how quickly you could change topics but it was a good try to move on from the somber conversation you just had.
“I don't really wanna have sex with someone I’ll only be sharing fluids with,” you say, blankly. This intrigues him because now, he’s moving closer to you like a kid waiting for his next adventure story.
You laugh at his movement. He tips his head, signaling you to continue.
“It’s just not my thing, that’s all,” you start, trying to find a way to explain yourself.
“I want someone to talk and laugh with when it gets sloppy,” you say, “and someone to make me breakfast when I oversleep. A guy for pure pleasure probably wouldn’t be that person for me. He’d probably just focus on getting both of us off and then up and leave,” you shrug.
This amuses him, even if he chuckles and says “I knew it probably had something to do with food,” and being the Jungkook you’ve come to know these past months, he asks you something that catches you off-guard but at the same time doesn't really surprise you.
“Would I be someone you’d hypothetically hook up with?” He smirks again, excited for your answer.
“No, you’re too good-looking for that,” you say almost instantly and you curse yourself in your head.
“So you mean hypothetically if you were to hook up with someone, he’d have to be unattractive?” He asks, seemingly confused.
“Uh, if it would just be for pure pleasure, yeah… I mean I wouldn’t mind but of course he’d have to be like, hot or something,” like that was common sense. “I’d probably be too drunk to focus on his face and it’d probably be too dark for it to matter anyway,” you shrug. You’re hoping this makes sense to him because your friends never did quite get it.
You just really don’t do hook ups, especially drunk ones, not that you put sex on a pedestal, but you just have a thing for the before and after of it - the gentle fore play, the removing (and not ripping) of clothes, the cuddle and the aftercare that stretches to breakfast or lunch, and the lazy morning sex. Call you hopeless romantic or something, at least this is your version of it, but those were the things you like about sex, the full package.
“Hmm, I feel honored to be too attractive to hypothetically hook up with Y/N Y/L/N,” he says, feeling proud of himself, smiling like a kid who just got a blue ribbon for something superficial. God, the duality and contradictions of this guy, you think.
“Let’s just say… you have a face and a touch I’d hypothetically want to get used to, so I wouldn't settle for just one night with you, and then it wouldn't be a hook-up!” You say trying to sound nonchalant, thinking about the tinylittle crush your friends claim you’ve developed on the guy in front you but really, anyone with a pair of eyes would agree that the man is beautiful (you’d always deflected though - “have you seen King Namjoon? Now that is the man, you’d say).
You settle for honesty though, and it’s true. You just don’t delve on the full package thing, because you know Jungkook is exactly the kind of guy to do all that, but you stop your mind from going there, much so with him sitting in front of you.
“Ah,” he says, pleased with himself. “So you could get used to this, huh?” He teases, lunging on you, his knees just barely resting on your thighs. He’s planting his hands on your face and squishing every surface he possibly could, laughing as he’s doing so while you shout out every cuss word you know and trying your best to hit him with your hands even if he’s just going to block your hits anyway.
You kick him on the thigh when he finishes his rampage but it is you who squeals of pain because you used your right foot, the one you re-injured after playing a tune-up game of volleyball the other day.
Naturally he grabs your foot and starts massaging it, as if he’d always been doing that since you’ve met, which he hasn't. And you haven’t even known each other that long.
“You’re annoying,” is the only thing you could mutter after finally catching your breath. You can’t lie though, his massage is pretty good. You lay your head on your stretched out right leg and can’t help but close your eyes.
He sees the satisfaction on your face and not long after, he quips, “I bet this is also something you could get used to after a good night of fucking, yeah?” he starts laughing.
Since last week’s incident, you’d noticed Jungkook being more comfortable and definitely a little cheekier, flirty, even. Perhaps seeing you in your underwear could do that to a person, you think.
You feel your cheeks heat up, and all you could do is hit his arm continuously so that he had started to flex after a few slaps. You literally were just talking about hook ups, why did you feel so scandalized? (You’re in denial; you know exactly why.)
“Good? That confident with your abilities, I see.” You tease, as both of you have now settled down and kept your body parts to yourselves.
A grin starts creeping from the side of his lips and you immediately regret making such a comment. “Nevermind!” You shout, holding out your hand to cover his mouth before he could say anything again.
“I’m teasing. I wouldn't know, actually. It’s not like I do it often to know, anyway.”
At this you’re pleasantly surprised, not that you expect him to be the kind of pop star who casually and constantly hooks up with women just because he can, but still you know the parties he attends and all the beautiful women in his circle who no doubt wouldn’t mind making a move, or probably already do on a regular basis.
Maybe you’re just startled that he would be open about this particular facet of his life to someone he hasn't known long. But then again, you two have been open to each other about many things since you’ve met, but that’s still something you’re only starting to get used to.
“It doesn't matter,” you say, flashing him the same sincere and thoughtful smile that you put on when he started fixing up your dinner for you earlier. He returns your smile, eyes soft, as if grateful for you not asking any more.
“Well, I mean you’re good at a lot of things anyway so if you suck at that, you could always just sing or dance or impersonate someone and that would overshadow whatever it is you suck at,” you say, winking at him.
He hits you with a pillow.
“I’m not sure if that’s supposed to make me feel better,” he says, “but thank you for complimenting my impersonating skills because I think that’s being undermined by the media.”
You both laugh at the humor.
#
“Tonight made me feel better, though. Thanks for being here,” you say as you finish your glass of wine.
It’s been hours since he arrived, sleepiness no doubt creeping on the both of you, especially on him who’d spent his day practicing and filming. It’s moments like this that make you happy you met him, that you didn’t freak out or think much when he asked for your number those months ago.
It’s also moments like this that you remind yourself of what you’d lose if you nurture that tinylittle seed of affection that’s growing in your heart, one unwittingly planted there a week ago.
He looks at you softly again, as if there’s more he wants to say but instead he replaces his bunny smile with a gentle one, wrinkles forming at the outer corner of his eyes, cheeks just slightly pushing up to reveal the bags underneath those orbs of his. They glisten under the lighting in your living room.
He lets the silence linger a little longer.
“Anything for you, Y/N.”
You let yourself bask in this thought, in his presence, just for tonight. Saturday You will get over this.
As you lay on your bed that night, you decide it isn’t just your past with your ex that you’ll bury under lock and key. It’s also this.
