Thai BL Favorites List Tag Game
thank youuu mel @justafriend-ql for tagging me!!! And to @thatgirl4815 for creating it!
I’m so bad at picking favorites so please excuse the fact that I have like two answers per question.. since this is a Thai bl list I’m not listing gls or non Thai series or else I’d probably list like 3+ per question fnskfjfj
Favorite bl: bad buddy or not me (PLEASE DONT MAKE ME CHOOSE). They’re both very different but very important in their own ways. The bad buddy experience is incomparable and the beauty of not me and its basis in reality is historical
Favorite pairing: following suit, patpran & seanwhite. Both series weren’t just plot driven, they were character driven as well (possibly more so). Each are fantastic, though wildly different, romances.
Most underrated actor: my boy chimon! I think generally people know he can act but I wouldn’t be surprised if he gained more recognition after dangerous romance aired. (Also bonus, stealing Mel’s answer cuz sing always needs more attention he can do any and everything!! I’ll eat up any role he plays. I always do)
Favorite character: really hard to choose. maybe Sean (from not me again). I’m ngl I blocked someone once bc they talked a bit of shit abt him. He’s never done anything wrong in his life <3
Favorite side character: yok from not me. I’m gonna keep putting not me here srry but NO ONE will ever be as slutty as yok was. Not even First in only friends. He encapsulated Slut energy in such an immaculate way. (OR heartliming. They stole the show in moonlight chicken for me!)
Favorite scene: the pride flag scene from not me. It’s one of the most impactful scenes I’ve seen in any ql and I love the reason why it exists in the first place!
Favorite line: the build up to patpran’s rooftop kiss. Got me holding my breath screaming crying heart racing you know it. We’ve all been through it. I have it copied into my notes in case I ever need it (or just to. Cry idk)
Most anticipated bl and why: hmmm probably cooking crush literally just cuz of offgun in a romcom bl lmao I luv them. The pics they’ve uploaded lately have had a different vibe from the mock trailer and I’m liking it! Maybe cherry magic too as I’m curious to see how it’ll be adapted to Thailand as a remake
Healthiest relationship in a bl: patpran. Do I even need to say more? They might’ve had a little drama before they got together but you HAVE to have a healthy mf relationship to maintain it while “lying” saying you’ve broken up to your parents & some of ur friends
Most toxic relationship in a bl: vegaspete. See they’re lowkey more toxic in my head than they are on screen. Like yes vegas electrocuted Pete’s balls but he could’ve done worse and I think he should’ve! The toxic aspect was what made it fun (also who would I be if they didn’t make it on a fav Thai bl list at least Once)
Guilty pleasure series: idk what I’d consider a guilty pleasure BUT I thought the first episode of tharntype (which I actually only watched recently lmao) was kinda camp. Like it literally OPENS with Type saying he loves college except for one problem… GAY PEOPLE EXIST 😡🤬 that’s comedy. I burst out laughing. Can’t say I love the show as a whole tho
Most underrated series (mel I love that u added this bc I kno exactly what to say): SECRET CRUSH ON YOU. I NEED TO PROMOTE IT. I think people who dropped it did so bc it was so over the top but that’s exactly why you should keep going??? It’s SO saturated and the emotions are ALWAYS at 100 it’s hilarious but in the moments it gets emotional (episode 13…) it GOES ALL IN!!! The constant secondhand embarrassment made me literally start sweating but in a good way?? Ppl who reduce it to just cringe have missed all the beauty it offers. I regret not watching it live and I feel like I don’t see enough people talking about it… also I am literally toh <3
Surprisingly some of my beloved Thai bls didn’t make it onto this list but it seems that’s cuz I still have bad buddy/not me brain worms forever 🙃 I stand by what I said either way hehe
I’ll tag @joyladagang @loserlesbianongsa @jyuubin @petrichoraline @iliketodecompose <33333

10 Seconds - Floyd
Author Notes: I'm not gonna lie, I had a lot of fun writing this. This fic was pretty much entirely inspired by a scene in chapter 111 in Akagami no Shirayukihime (Snow White with The Red Hair). After I found out that Floyd and Obi had the same voice actor, the temptation was to great for me to resist. As per usual, reader is gender-neutral. I hope you enjoy!
Type: Fluff/ flirtation/ romance/ kind of spoofy/ Reader does have a pushy admirer so be warned on that note
Word Count: 1890
Tumblr media
There was something about persistent wanna-be lovers that made one nervous enough to look to even the most shady sources of help. Including Octaveinelle.
“So this young man has been bothering you for…?” Jade trailed off as he looked up from the glass he was currently polishing to where I sat, right in front of him, at the bar.
“A little over a month now, I think.” I frowned as I recounted the numerous times the Pomefiore junior in question had just ‘happened’ to be right where I would inevitably run into him.
I would be trapped there, having to interact with him and dodging his advances until I was saved by some passerby or thought up a reasonable excuse to leave.
I could’ve gone to Vil for help, considering it was one of his dorm members. But I also didn’t entirely want to put my annoyingly persistent and considerably pushy admirer through quite that much sorrow.
I did, however, want this handled, and me turning him down numerous times as politely as possible simply wasn’t cutting it. Which was why I went to Octavinelle to seek the advice of the infamous tweels. After all, they handled a lot of Azul's issues. Surely they would have advice for handling one persistent admirer.
Floyd let out a low whistle from behind me, causing me to twist slightly to glance at the young man who ought to be sweeping but was now just propped up on the broom’s handle as he shook his head, “Stubborn guy.”
His eyes found mine as a grin crossed his face, and I realized very quickly that I didn’t want to know exactly what Floyd was thinking. That wasn’t really one of his nice grins….
“Come now, Floyd. We can’t exactly blame the poor fool for being quite so smitten with our darling little Prefect, can we?” I almost grimaced at Jade’s teasing tone as I turned in time to catch his mocking, sharp-toothed smile.
“Guys,” I didn’t even bother fighting the whine that slipped into my tone. “I just want some advice. I can’t get him to go away, and I’ve already tried being blunt.”
Jade smiled in an indulgent manner down at me before a frown crossed his face, “I suppose it is rather problematic and concerning if he’s been at it this long.”
He sat the glass down with a tiny clink on the bar as he continued to ponder my plight, “You said he’s a Pomefiore student?”
I nodded, wondering exactly what Jade was thinking as Floyd slipped up next to me, propping himself on the bar, “Should I just scare him off? That’d probably do it.”
Floyd sounded perfectly willing to do just that as he looked at me with that sharp-toothed grin of his before looking towards his brother.
But he was soon frowning in confusion as Jade started to shake his head with a slight frown, “No, if he’s as determined as I fear, then I doubt that would solve the problem for little more than three days.”
That mocking smile appeared on Jade’s face again, even though he wasn’t actually looking at either me or his brother, as he continued, “Besides. Those Pomefiore boys are the schooling sort. Always flitting about in a group. If we tried aggression, he’d just come back with his friends, and that would make things more difficult for you, wouldn’t it, Prefect?”
He looked towards me as he finished, and I nodded glumly, “A squad probably would make it tougher.”
Especially since Pomefiore squads were known to be aggressive. Turning him down in front of his posse could be risky at best.
A chuckle slipped from the vice-housewarden’s lips as he smiled at me, “Now, now. There’s no need to make such a face. The solution is really quite simple, isn’t it?”
I perked up at his words, looking at him hopefully before I frowned once I noticed his grin, “What’s it gonna cost?”
The twins laughed together, their voices joining in a strange harmony that made me tense ever-so-slightly.
“Oh, it’ll be on the house this time. After all, this will be most amusing for both of us.” Jade’s words seemed to surprise Floyd as much as they did me.
Unperturbed by our obvious confusion, Jade leaned forward with an undoubtedly conspiratorial grin. Propping himself on his elbows as he gestured both of us closer with a single flick of his long fingers, “Listen closely…..”
And that was what had brought me to this moment, as I let out a quiet exhale before rounding the corner.
I didn’t even have to worry about setting the guy up. I knew exactly where he’d be.
Propped up on the wall in that careful pose he was always in when he was waiting for me to come and just ‘happen’ to bump into him.
And sure enough, there he was. Leaning against the wall with one arm raised so that he had me slightly caged in from the very second I rounded the corner.
“Prefect! What a surprise,” His perfectly white teeth flashed almost blindingly, and I fought not to gag at the raw amount of perfume he was wearing.
It was a good thing he hadn’t brought his posse; I probably would’ve passed out from the raw amount of perfume that would’ve been in the air.
But I smiled. Pretending to be surprised and not at all frustrated by his persistent, unwanted affections as I carefully went back through the plan that Jade had laid out in my head.
Interact with him like everything was normal while waiting until reinforcements came, and then follow those very simple directions that Jade had given.
So I waited. Awkwardly exchanging pleasantries and smiling up at the young man who now leaned increasingly closer despite how much I would like him to say far away. He was no doubt about to drop some sort of new line that was intended to sweep me off my feet but would be far more likely to make me grimace.
And right as he opened his mouth with a grin that spoke of some very misplaced confidence, I heard the exact thing I’d been waiting for.
“Shrimpy~” Floyd’s sing-song call came from behind me, and I turned so fast that I almost missed the deep frown that appeared at impressive speeds on my admirer’s face.
“Floyd!” I didn’t have to fake my joy at seeing him, though I couldn’t say the same for him considering that Floyd himself looked entirely bored as he looked towards the Pomefiore junior that now stood stiffly silent. Already frustrated by the mere presence of Floyd.
For a brief moment, I was honestly worried about how well Jade’s scheme was going to go over until Floyd’s gaze shifted and his eyes met mine. Because then there was an entire change to his person.
His gaze softened ever so slightly, and his lips twitched up in an absentminded smile as he walked over, all but cooing at me affectionately, “There you are.”
He didn’t stop until he was right next to me, looking down at me, and then I knew the moment of truth was upon us.
I could hear Jade’s amused voice in my head as I braced myself, swallowing as I recalled his words: “Ten seconds. You will need to stare into each other’s eyes for ten seconds. But that’s all it will take.”
Floyd was far calmer than I was as he slipped off his blazer and draped it over my shoulders, blocking the cool breeze that came through the open window.
His voice was quieter than usual, though still playful as he spoke, “There you go; can’t have you getting cold.” And that was my cue that we were beginning.
One.
My hand reached up to tug his oversized jacket a little closer around my body, and my hand brushed lightly against his fingers that lingered at my shoulders.
Two. Three. Four.
I twisted just a little bit more so that I could look at him better as his hand slid down my arm so that his arm was wrapped around my shoulders.
Five.
It was already getting sort of awkward to keep staring for this long into Floyd’s mismatched eyes for this long. But now I was beginning to think more about the color of his irises than the actual situation we were in.
Six. Seven.
One was a yellow color. Not a sickly yellow, but rather it was a warmer color that made me feel oddly safe considering the young man I was looking up at. The other eye was a surprisingly gentle olive that was also welcomingly familiar and spoke of how, in certain moments, Floyd himself could actually be quite gentle.
Eight. Nine.
I could feel numerous people staring at us, and I was fairly certain that one of them was definitely Jade. He was probably utterly delighted by how uniquely embarrassing this really was. Because even though I’d been prepared to feel a little self-conscious, I hadn’t been expecting to be this flustered. Especially since it was just Floyd….
Ten.
Floyd’s smile grew by just a fraction, and then he blinked, “I reckon I’ll see you later. I know you can’t miss your class. Good little student that you are~” He let go of my arm with an affectionate squeeze as he continued to look down at me. But this time with amusement in his gaze and a teasing lilt to his voice.
I swallowed down my overwhelming shyness as I looked away, blinking as I attempted to force my recovery by focusing on his teasing.
But even then, my voice wobbled as I quipped back, not quite able to look back up at him, “Unlike you, I actually have to study to keep my grades up.”
Out of my peripheral vision, I could tell he was fully grinning now, “Aww, if you ever need help, you can just ask. If you're nervous about Azul, I can help you out.”
He leaned down and into my line of sight so that he could wink at me, and I let out an exhale. Reminding myself that this was Floyd I was dealing with. Not some incredibly romantic male lead who was here to sweep me off my feet and actually be successful.
Which brought me back to my admirer, who was still standing there, staring in open-mouthed shock.
“Ex- Excuse me, I lost track of time with Floyd and really do need to get to class now,” I  was still flustered enough that I stammered slightly before I flashed him an apologetic grin before I trotted off.
As I fled the scene, I passed a chuckling Jade and mouthed a quick, ‘Thank you,’ before hurrying on. Attempting to outrun the oddly shy sensation I now felt at the thought of being near Floyd and entirely missing what happened behind me as I fled the scene.
“You haven’t gotten anywhere in a month, and it only took me ten seconds.” So saying, Floyd glanced down at the Pomefiore student, who almost immediately puffed up with indignance that quickly deflated as Floyd grinned in a way that perfectly displayed his too-sharp teeth.
“You might as well just try somewhere else, ‘cause you aren’t going to be stealing Shrimpy away from me anytime soon.”

In all honesty, idk what happened with the fandom recently for it to suddenly shit out a ton of crappy takes in ATLA most especially for Zutara. I often find myself defending Zutara because a lot of its antis say the most racist and sexist stuff against it. I'm not even a Zutara fan! I'm a rareshipper.
Can't just antis simply say they don't like Zutara and move on to enjoying their own ships instead? No more stupid holier art thou morality takes that just backfire on their faces.
If they want discourse, then use canon material NOT HEADCANONS, FANONS, OR FANFICS as "evidence" to back up their takes. Antis that do that makes my head spin in exasperation. Then you point that out they start whining how you hurt their feelibgs and get all offended as a "minority".
Actually, let's focus on that last bit. It's pretty rancid too how sometimes they pretend to be part of the "minority" so they can use it as a shield for themselves when their bad behavior gets called out. In fact, this tactic hurts the actual minorities who have valid concerns about Zutara. They get drowned out by all the insanity toxic shippers say and get lumped in with them.
Well, with the new live-action coming, there has obviously, been a revival, making the fandom way much more active. Which leads to people having more time to pay attention to the show and all its intricacies.
This is where ship wars come into play. And in all honesty, atla’s ship wars have definitely left a legacy in a way I don’t think we’ll have to ever witness. With the creators perpetuous jabs at zutara solidifying antis need to hate on it and the fans, fuelling the whole thing to another level. To this day whenever something avatar related gets announced or released you start to see a revival of a not so dead ship war. And while they (probably, not sure) aren’t as brutal as they used to be, they have took another turn, with this faux-progressivism being used to fear monger zutara shippers as well as casual listeners about the ship’s legitimacy. I recommend @i-d-e-g-a-f ‘s post about it to get more insight.
On my part, if I were to pin point the moment where this faux- progressivism started taking space in a lot of anti-zutara takes, I’d say that the atla renaissance isn’t innocent for this phenomenon happening. You need to understand the context in which atla’s release on Netflix took place in. One where the blm movement took the entire world by storm. Resulting in people not having the reservations they’ve probably had in the past when it came to talking about racial issues. This was followed by the emergence of numerous movements involving similar cases (not identical, tho). As well as media and the people consuming said media being ready to offer commentary on and call out harmful depictions of racial minorities as well as the rethorics they carried.
Suddenly, anyone and everyone could offer their piece of mind on harm being caused to racial minorities. And while good, it also came with its downside.
When you take into account this context, I think it exacerbated the already existing phenomenon of people saying things in order to put on this front of being good and virtuous, yet failing or simply not wanting to realize how these things are perpetuating the very harm they claim they want to undo. You know, people perceiving and claiming zutara to be a colonized-colonizer ship. As well as comparing katara to Pocahontas, when talking about these two. Which, if these people actually cared about progress, they would know how incredibly racist and sexist it is to make that comparison.
When it comes to antis obsession with hating on zutara, I think it stems from a certain insecurity. You gotta understand that unlike any other non-canon ship, zutara could’ve legitimately been canon. It was constantly talked about in the writers room, many of the team members seriously considering it (head writers, voice actors etc..) Hence why, the creators felt the need to throw numerous jabs (ie. the ember island play, (2008) comic-con) at the ship and more specifically, its fans. Since they themselves were insecure. @burst-of-iridescent perfectly explains it in this post.

Lexi peeked behind the curtain, astonished at the full auditorium. She still couldn’t believe the number of people who showed up. Seated near the front was Maddy and her gang. While Cassie and Nate sat further away in the middle. Rafe and Y/N sat a few rows behind Cassie and Nate.
Lexi walked on stage, her nervous jitters noticeable but she still kept a smile on her face.
“Our Life is a lot more complicated than adults would make it seem. We’re going through our most important developmental years, this is the time where our personalities shift and form. This is also a time where we experience our most memorable relationships.”
Actors that represented Maddy, Cassie, and Y/N entered the stage, laughing and walking in sync.
“Is that supposed to be us?” Maddy scrunched her face in confusion. “I don’t even look like that.”
Lexi continued her narration.
“During these fleeting high school moments, we solidify friendships and create new ones.”
While the three girls are talking in the prop hallway, a tall, blonde actor treaded on the stage, making an exaggeration of biting his nails. He kept his gaze down and bumped into Y/N’s character.
“The girls swore that they would never let a boy come between them, but it seemed as though Y/C/N had other plans. It’s almost as if her plan all along was to let a boy come in between her and everyone else.”
Maddy’s and Cassie’s characters were visibly heartbroken and betrayed as Y/C/N gazed lovingly up at Rafe’s character, not paying her friends a second glance.
Cassie turned her head to glimpse at Y/N but Y/N kept her eyes glued to the stage.
“But was the relationship worth it? Y/C/N cut off her friends to have more freedom with her new boy toy-- or so she thought.”
The backdrop changed to a classroom and Y/C/N’s phone rang and rang until she finally picked it up and put it on speaker.
“Where the fuck are you?! I’ve texted you 57 times! Why aren’t you answering me?!” R/C/N spat accusations left and right, but Y/C/N just rolled her eyes before hanging up mid-sentence.
A couple chuckles were heard in the audience, some even from Cassie, and Rafe visibly tensed. His jaw was clenched and his grip around Y/N’s hand was tighter, almost to a point where it hurt.
“You call it love, but I call it Stockholm syndrome. You’re not the sweet, innocent angel that everyone believes you are. Sometimes I think R/C/N could’ve been normal if he hadn’t met you.”
The scene switched to Y/C/N’s room, where Y/C/N and R/C/N were in the middle of another fight.
“WHY CAN’T YOU OPEN YOUR FUCKING EYES?!? ALL THE GUYS SEE YOU AS A SLUT.”
“You’re so fucking crazy R/C/N! I wasn’t even flirting with him! And don’t you EVER call me a fucking slut, you psychotic piece of shit!” Y/C/N jabbed her finger in R/C/N’s face with each word. R/C/N tried to smack her hand away but Y/C/N reacted quicker and slapped him across the face.
The scene went silent and the actors remained in their places. R/C/N’s hair fell over his face, covering his expression. Y/C/N didn’t move an inch.
A hush fell over the audience. Some dared to sneak a glance at Rafe and Y/N but one look at Rafe’s fuming face scared them back into place.
“This is absolute bullshit. This is what she fucking invites us to? She’s supposed to be your fucking friend.” Rafe started his heated rant and Y/N knew all too well what came afterwards.
“Shh baby, it’s okay. She doesn’t know what she’s talking about. She never had a boyfriend before, what would she know?” Y/N brought Rafe’s hand to her lips and planted a reassuring kiss on his knuckles. She then reached her hand behind his head and began massaging his scalp to ground him.
After a few beats of stillness, Y/C/N broke out of her daze and carefully approached R/C/N.
“I’m sorry, baby. I was scared.” Her voice was soft and calculated.
R/C/N slowly raised his head to look at her and was frozen to his spot. He didn’t try to move when Y/C/N brought her hand to rest on his red cheek, the same hand that hit him.
If anything, he leaned into her touch and closed his eyes.
“Puppy Love” by Paul Anka started playing in the background.
They called it puppy love
Oh, I guess they’ll never know
How a young heart really feels
And why I love her so
Silent tears rolled down R/C/N’s face.
I cry each night
My tears for you
My tears are all in vain
“You made me hate myself. Sometimes I wish I would’ve just dated myself.” R/C/N whispered, his voice thick with tears. He still leaned into Y/C/N’s hand.
Y/C/N wiped his tears with her free hand and leaned up to plant her lips on his. The light focuses on them as their kiss lasts for a few moments, before the entire stage goes black.
The audience is quiet, still trying to process what they just saw. Y/N glimpsed at Rafe out of the corner of her eye and his gaze was focused on the floor. Tears stung in the corners of his eyes but he was quick to wipe them away; but not quick enough for Y/N to notice.
“Rafe….” For the first time, Y/N didn’t know how to comfort him. She had no words to offer him. She retracted her hands off him and placed them in her lap; she was scared to touch him, to break him further.
This isn’t who she was, right? This is just a show of theatrics. None of this was real.
Various degrees of self-awareness, disgust, and sadness flashed across Y/N’s face in a matter of seconds until she wore a common face of fury.
“That Lexi bitch had no right to make a play about real people, she didn’t even fucking ask.” Y/N thought. “She has no fucking clue what the fuck she’s talking about.”
Just as Y/N was about to get up from her seat, Rafe grabs her wrist and pulls her back down.
Rafe applied more and more pressure onto Y/N’s wrist as the seconds passed. The two were dead silent, staring back at their reflections on stage.
Is this how the world saw them? Was this really them?
Maybe out of ignorance, or maybe out of pure denial, the couple was glued in place, unable to move a single muscle. But their rage was a silent one, a terrible storm waiting for the perfect time to strike.
The lights return back on stage, this time lighting up Lexi who stood on a prop football field.
“R/C/N and Y/C/N certainly had an unusual form of love. It was a deadly love, a love that could kill you if you weren’t too careful. Interestingly enough, no matter how much R/C/N showed his devotion, it was never enough for Y/C/N. She was always looking elsewhere.”
The light shined over Y/C/N flirting with some random football player. They cracked jokes and Y/C/N laughed a little too loud and a little too hard. She threw her head back and placed her hand on his firm bicep.
“God, you’re so funny! I never knew you were such a jokester.” The football player reveled in the attention, getting high off her compliments.
Simultaneously, a light shined above Lexi, who stood on the other side of the stage, by the fake bleachers. Next to her was a furious R/C/N, who had a brick in his hand.
A heavy blanket of silence fell on the audience, a silence so loud that you could hear the actors breathing into their mics.
Everyone knew what this event was referring to, but no one dared to speak a word of it.
Instead of the usual anger that Rafe wore throughout the entire play, a cheshire-worthy smirk graced Rafe’s lips, a low chuckle erupting from his throat as he waited for what's next.
He locked eyes with Lexi, daring her to say the next words.
Lexi was about to fold under his scorching stare, a stare that only saw red-- but she had a show to run.
The show must go on.
Lexi cleared her throat, and spoke each word while maintaining full eye contact with Rafe.
“Nature versus nurture, a debate as old as time. In this case, was R/C/N always this crazy or did Y/CN create this monster? Was R/C/N born this way or did she groom a killer?”
As soon as that last word left her mouth, Rafe was already out of his seat and half-way down the aisle before anyone else could react.
“Y/N, put a fucking leash on your mutt!” Maddy jeered.
Initially, Y/N was going to try and stop Rafe but Maddy’s comment put a halt on that plan. Instead of trying to put a lid on the atomic bomb that is her boyfriend, she let him roam free. Rafe always was her greatest weapon.
“What good did leashing your boyfriend do for you? Oh wait,” Y/N laughed, turning to Cassie. “You lost your boyfriend to your best friend.”
“Let me at this whore!” Maddy struggled against her friend’s restraint.
While Maddy, Cassie, and Y/N were thrashing it out in the seats, Rafe was already on stage and cornering Lexi.
“You think you’re real smart, huh?” Rafe wrapped his hand around her throat and pushed her against the wall. He brought his mouth to the side of her head and whispered in her ear. “Do you wanna know how I killed that son of a bitch?”
Lexi’s eyes were turning red due to a lack of oxygen, and her attempts to claw at his hand were futile.
“I had him in my hands, just like this.” Rafe applied more pressure to her throat. “I squeezed until his eyes popped out of his sockets.”
But before he could go in for the final kill, Nate pushed Rafe off of Lexi, who collapsed onto the floor and tried to catch her breath.
“You’re a real fucking pussy, Cameron. You’re nothing but Y/N’s bitch.”
Rafe shoved Nate back.
“At least I’m not fucking the whole school. Who knows what kind of STDs you got?”
That was all it took to rile Nate up. The two boys threw punches that rang through the entire auditorium-- everything was audible, the fist-to-face contact, the cracking of jaws.
While the boys were breaking each other’s bones and the girls were clawing each other’s faces off, the police were called and arrived at the scene. After a few attempts to break up the fighting, all the perpetrators were escorted outside, placed far enough apart and with plenty of enforcement to prevent another altercation.
As the police were taking statements from the witnesses, the main group sat on the curb of the school-- bloody, bruised, and beaten. Each person lost in their own thoughts and regrets until Y/N finally spoke up.
“How did we end up like this? We’re unrecognizable.” Maddy and Cassie remained silent, only sending each other glares.
“It’s all his fucking fault,” Nate gestured at Rafe, who sat a few feet from him. “You should’ve never come to this fucking town.”
“Rafe’s not completely at fault.” Lexi defended. “You still would’ve slept with Cassie regardless if he came to East Highland or not.”
“I don’t want to hear you fucking speak, you sick bitch.” Y/N groaned, holding her head in her hands. The conversation fell into a beat of silence before Cassie spoke up.
“In a sick way, this is like a bonding moment for us.” Cassie noted, looking at the group.
“What. The. Fuck. Cassie.” Maddy was so over Cassie’s bullshit, but Cassie continued.
“No matter what happens, we’ll always come back to each other, It’s like we’re all connected.”
Rafe scoffed while Nate just shook his head.
“This crazy bitch.” Nate muttered under his breath.
“Who wants to get something to eat?” Y/N asked, still holding a tissue to stop her bloody nose. Her question was so out of the blue that everyone thought they hallucinated it, until she repeated herself.
“I’m starving. It’s up to y’all, but I’m getting some food.” Y/N extended her arm to her boyfriend-- who had a black eye and bruises littered all over his face-- but he was quick to help her up to her feet.
“I’m going.” Rue answered, appearing out of nowhere.
“Me too.” Jules added, wrapping her arm around Rue’s shoulders. “Why not?”
Maddy looked at her friends and shrugged. “Fuck it. Let’s go.”
As the group began walking away and discussing possible food options, Cassie, Lexi, and Nate rushed to catch up. Meanwhile, Lexi strayed a few paces behind everyone else.
She took in the sight in front of her-- a group of teenagers, surely flawed, yet they still have so much to experience.
Cassie is right. Lexi thought. We are all destined to be intertwined, for better or for worse.
Lexi would be sure to start working on the sequel of her play when she got back home.

Today Millie had a fan panel in which she answered that her ideal ending would be Mike and El getting married and Will being happy and confessing to Mike (lol) and ofc the Stranger Things fandom kicked up the old Byler vs Mlvn war once again, regardless of the fact she doesn’t write the show. But I want to break down some points here about things I’ve been noticing today, but also for a while and that I think need to be discussed. Keep reading if you want.
I’ve seen a lot of hostility towards Byler and Bylers on Twitter lately, saying we’re delusional and don’t know what we’re talking about. This always seems to be the go to argument even tho it’s all in the narrative. Today it got really bad after Millie’s comments and even people that were merely disagreeing with her opinions got called everything from delusional to misogynistic.
IF the Duffers suddenly decided to ignore everything they’ve carefully crafted and put into their narrative that doesn’t make anyone delusional, it just makes them terrible writers. Who would be doing a great disservice to all three characters involved in the love triangle.
There’s been an insurgence (on Twitter) of so called “Will stans” who seem to be completely fine with the idea of mlvn being endgame because “Will can just get another boyfriend” Not only is this insulting to what the writers have already established for Will’s character but it’s also a defense and endorsement of the worst kind of lazy/bad writing that could graze our screens.
The Duffers CHOSE to tie Will’s character arc to Mike’s and El’s.
How do you expect them to undo that and create a well fleshed out character that’s deserving of Will, in 8 episodes that we know are not just gonna be dedicated to Will’s supposed love interest, because there’s a shit ton of stuff to resolve?
If this was the route the Duffers were going for, they could’ve clearly given Will a love interest last season (like with Robin) or two seasons ago (like with Dustin) And yet somehow, people think it would be totally okay for Will to get the most meaningless romance of all time as the writers ignore the same story they’ve created.
Another point I’ve been seeing a lot from these people is “Mike won’t come out. Let it go. He’s just a very unlikable character” What does that say about the quality of the writing and content you’re willing to consume then? You’re okay with characters being poorly written? And please someone explain to me how Mike’s actions, especially in S4, make any sense unless he likes Will.
The more people try to simplify this story the more plot holes and inconsistencies it creates.
The funny thing is that a lot of these “Will stans” used to be Bylers themselves but are so deathly afraid it won’t be endgame that they’ve started to use the same rhetoric mlvns use every day to justify what would be atrocious writing.
And this next thing might be controversial but I think it needs to be said.
So many people on Twitter have hit those who disagree with Millie’s opinion today with “y’all are misinterpreting Millie’s words” and let me tell you, no one has. She’s been saying the same stuff for forever and quite frankly she’s never had a coherent thought about Will. Which is fine, at the end of the day that’s not the character she plays. However, I haven’t forgotten how last year (at another panel) she was asked about Byler and said it was just a reflection of Finn and Noah’s friendship and that was what people were seeing…
Whatever the fuck that means, I guess.
Again, I’m not taking her answer today too seriously cause truth be told she’s been saying some version of this since she was around twelve, and has even at times said she was joking about it. If a wedding were actually happening she wouldn’t be able to say it cause I’d literally be a spoiler, even if she doesn’t have the scripts yet or doesn’t know I’m sure there’s things that would be off limits for any actor to say at this point.
But this defense squad that formed today begging for us to not misconstrue her words because “she really cares about Will’s character” is laughable.
Her answers regarding the topic of the love triangle have been anything but nuanced. If she doesn’t want to get into it or address it, that’s fine. It’s her choice.
But of course, mlvn stans are gonna take her answers seriously, as well as those who are now “Will stans” who basically ship mlvn too.
And to me there’s a fundamental flaw regarding the ship wars in this fandom, which these people don’t seem to grasp. At this point, it isn’t so much about “which ship is better” but “which outcome isn’t violently homophobic”
That’s it.
I don’t care how much you ship mlvn, this is the undisputed truth here.
But when your lead actors act like it’s not a big deal, it’s no surprise the fandom doesn’t give a shit.
I can only hope the Duffers were smart enough to see reason and were able to write the only outcome that won’t set television back around 10 years or so.
And hopefully one day, when S5 is out, we can get a more in depth and honest conversation with the actors about all of this.
As for me, I’m gonna lay low and not give much of a fuck until we start getting those Reddit leaks, which were very much accurate for last season. I’ll take a peak at those, and depending on what they look like, I’ll stay around or dip completely.
If you read all of this, thank you.

Apparently I was not specific enough on my last post. As I stated, just because you don’t like something doesn’t make it homophobic. Disliking something also doesn’t automatically make it ableist, an attack on anyone, etc. You can just dislike something without it being a form of oppression.
“Izzy’s death is an insult to domestic abuse (DA) survivors”. I have experienced DA as a child and as an dult. I’ve also experienced violence as a sex worker. Comments like these are what insults me, you are trivializing domestic abuse.
If your take on the show is “Izzy is the victim, Ed is the abuser 😤” you lack media literacy. Izzy and Ed were both awful to each other. Izzy pushed Ed to keep up the Blackbeard image. Ed wants to be “soft”, to be able to cry at things, like nice fabrics, be gender non conforming. Izzy keeps him from this and very much reminds me of parents forcing their kids to stay closeted (I still Iove Izzy and his later arc is very relatable as some who discovered they were queer later on).
If we are going to take this silly comedy show way too seriously and make it a direct comparison to our world, I’d much rather be maimed than reported to the police. As a full service sex worker, I’ve had people try to murder me and still not called the police. The regular police! And in this show, Izzy doesn’t turn them over to regular police, he turns them over to the British royal navy, which could’ve easily resulted in them all being hung. I would never forgive someone for snitching to the police in real life.
But there is no reason to take the show so seriously. No one was killed or jailed due to Izzy snitching. Maiming is part of a pirates life, sorry. Characters physically hurting each other in the show does not hold the same gravity as in real life. Pirates maiming each other is like the equivalent of me inappropriately screaming at my housemate.
“Izzy dying is an insult to suicide survivors”. As a multi time suicide survivor, what the fuck??? Izzy, Ed, and stede have all been suicidal at some point. Izzy and Ed both survived suicide attempts in this show. It’s not like the only suicidal person is dead now. I think it’s beautiful that even though Izzy didn’t have much time between his failed suicide attempt and his death, he changed his life to be something much happier and more loving. Izzy’s story shows me it’s always worth living, even when everything seems miserable, even if you don’t have that much time left. And I love seeing Ed, suicide survivor, having to learn to move on and be happy even after the death of someone he loved so dearly.
“Izzy dying has no purpose / is lazy writing”. Izzy’s death lets us see the above - Ed, a suicide survivor, learning to live as he wants with grief and guilt and all of it. Izzy’s death sets up the major plot line of season 3 (if we get one) - the crew’s desire for revenge. Zheng and Auntie would’ve been the only ones with a strong desire for revenge otherwise.
“It’s homophobic to get rid of one of the only queer actors”. Pretty much all the characters and lot of the cast is queer????? Also Con O’Neil will likely return for season 3. It’s a lot more homophobic to call the mostly queer writing crew homophobic??? Seriously go read the interview with one of the non-binary writers of color talking about how amazing it is to look up and see 4 other non-binary writers of color in the room.
Also on a related note, the show is Ed and Stede. It’s a rom com about them, always has been, the creators have flat out said this several times. If you don’t like them, then you don’t like the show. Watch something else.
Anyway, for the 100th time, you can dislike something without it being homophobic or any other bigoted thing and you can dislike some thorn without attacking the writers. Please stop.

Interviewing the cast. actor au.
Ken, Nahoya, Rindou, Yuzuha, Souya, and Tetta
Tumblr media
⚅ Ken ⚅
“How do you feel about the fans reactions to your character?”
“I’m the nice guy without weird intentions. I’m the one they’d marry but there’s always something that holds me back, and it’s Emma.”
“I love those! Not only for the angst, but it’s also nice seeing you be a piece of shit every once in a while.”
“Do you know what I’d do to someone who constantly brings up their dead crush? Not only that but the unrealistic expectation to be like them?”
“What would you do?”
“I’d throw their ashes on them and tell them it’s never going to happen.”
“I’m dead!” You smacked the armrest and leaned back in your chair cackling. “Leave the ashes alone.”
“No, a point has to be made.” He said. “But that’s better than beating someone after they lost their sister.”
“Your character lost a lot of my love and respect in that scene! Like, yes he loved her, but that was Manjiro’s sister at the end of the day!”
“I was surprised many people still loved him. That was a hard scene for me to shoot because Manjiro is a good actor. I felt bad swinging at him while he had that look on his face.”
“We know you cry during movies, so this wouldn’t be any different. It’d make sense if it was harder since you’re compassionate.”
“I had to give him a hug after we shot that scene.”
“How do you relate to your character?”
“My mouth gets me into a lot of trouble.”
“Ooo, tell me how!”
“You’re so nasty!” He laughed. “I’m talking about when I taunt people as were arguing. Like that scene where I get stabbed by Peh.”
“I knew his character wasn’t getting much love after that one.”
“It went up after he beat Shion.”
“Cause who doesn’t love a man that can knock someone out with one hit?”
“I don’t. My character got stabbed for respecting his friend's choice!”
“What would you change about your character?”
“I’d have him do his job the correct way. A lot could’ve been prevented if he spoke up, but he was like a bystander. He didn’t try hard enough for me.”
“Yeah, he just went along with it to make his friend happy. He didn’t want to go against them. It’d be fair to say he deserves some of the blame.”
“I get it wasn’t his gang, but he was high enough to give his advice and be heard.”
“He was just following the leader.”
Tumblr media
⚄ Nahoya ⚄
“Did you miss me?” Nahoya kissed your cheek and you wiped it just as fast.
“Not really.”
“Don't be mean.”
“Last time we talked, you got me kicked out of an exclusive event.”
“I hated your plus one.”
“You could've avoided them!”
“You should've known better. I've been going back and forth with them online before the event.”
“It was a petty squabble, I thought you’d be over it. Besides it's easy to ignore them online, just block them.”
“Tell me how that block button works when people start blowing you up to hear about your night with Takemichi.”
“I didn't sleep with him.”
“I didn't say you did, but they’ll think so once I tweet it.”
“You bet-”
“Done. And you know Takemichi’s just gonna make it worst.” He laughed as your phone started to go off.
“Ugh. How do you feel about the fans reaction to your character?”
“I love that they know he's vicious and I encourage them to go darker. I love seeing the crazy shit they come up with! Hell, I add my own stories for them to enjoy.”
“Cool, what do you write? Angst, Horror...”
“Anything dark satiates my hunger. I love making the reader squirm and see my character as some monster, but I throw in some fluffy moments.”
“I have to read it sometime.” Your phone continues vibrating and chiming on the table.
“Hehehe. You gonna pick it up?”
“Shut up!” You cut your phone off and put it in your pocket.
“While we're still on it. I hate that people think he’ll just abuse the ones he loves. Like yeah he raises hell when it comes to his enemies, but he isn’t just abusing his brother.”
“You want them to see that he’s capable of love too?”
“Yeah because it adds to his character. He’s a nightmare to his enemies, but he can be a dream come true to his honey. I can be that. I’m not just a player! I love the thought of having a successful relationship!”
“Getting kinda personal aren’t ya?”
“Yes because I’m sick of people cheating on me because they think I’m cheating on them!”
“Haha, you should’ve confessed that before you sent a horde of people to harass me! But seriously, that’s not right. You should have a conversation with them at the start and be honest about your feelings.”
“No shit.”
“Smart ass. How do you relate to your character?”
“We’re everyone's obsession. I'm catnip to my peers, they can't get enough of me! If I ever stopped hanging around them they’d be devastated.”
“You're much more conceited than I remember. Is there anything you’d change about your character?”
“It's not him that's the problem. He needs more screen time and I want to see how he interacts with his twin. Or just outside of the gang shit in general.”
“That would be nice! Especially if he's much sweeter than you.”
“Eh?”
“Sou-sou said you would pick with him when you guys were younger.”
“We were kids. All kids are jerks.”
“He was an angel.”
“Have fun with the press.”
Tumblr media
⚃ Rindou ⚃
“How do you feel about the fans reaction to your character?”
“It's funny,” he snickered into his arm. “They give me gifts because they think I get overshadowed by my brother.”
“How often do they send you gifts?”
“I'm always getting fan mail with food, letters, electronics, and accessories. You name it, I have it.”
“Can your fans cook?”
“I’ll never know. I'm not eating anything they send! If I take a bite I might see they put their hair in it or worse.”
“Makes sense, people do get attached to celebrities in an unhealthy way.”
“They do but I want them to know that, in reality, I'm the one that always got spoiled. I could do no wrong in my parent's eyes. Ran hated it, but he blamed my parents so I got to hang out with him still.”
“Aww, you wuved your big brother. He was just the coolest to you back then, huh?”
“You’re teasing, but yes, he was. I thought he was the coolest and no one could tell me otherwise. Even when he was walking around with the short hairstyle from the 1900s, I thought he badass.”
“How do you relate to your character?”
“We’re both sadistic, but that side comes out when I’m spending one on one time with a lucky person.”
“Would you ever do that with a fan?”
“They’d probably annoy me the whole time.”
“How?”
“Saying they can't believe it or asking me to say specific lines like, you're the only person I want to spend my life with. It would be fine if we were together, but they talk as if it's not a one-night stand.”
“What would you change about your character?”
“Hmm. Nothing. I like him how he is.”
“They show just enough of him and don't stretch it based of the fans reactions.”
Tumblr media
⚂ Yuzuha ⚂
“Did you have fun with Takemichi? I heard you went home with him after the party?”
“I'm gonna wring that twerps neck if he keeps making a post.”
“He just tagged you in the latest one.”
“Ignore it.”
“He said you gave him a good time and he'd be happy to see you again!” She covered her mouth while she scanned the post. “I thought you hated him!”
“I do! He's wording it weirdly to get attention from the press!”
“Well, it’s working!” She yelled. “What’re you going to do to stop him?”
“I don't know!”
“Poor thing.”
“How do you feel about the fans reaction to your character?”
“I love that they appreciate her, but I don't think she’d agree with a lot of the things they say. I won't get into it unless it comes up later.” She waved her hand and you moved on to the next question.
“How do you relate to your character?
“I’d do anything to protect my family. Not kill them but anything else.”
“Why not?”
“I can't protect them if I'm locked up. I have to be free so I can be there for them.”
“Right. Since you're gone the offender will have a field day?”
“And we can't have that! Not everyone is strong like Taiju. My kicks will damage the average jerk bold enough to hurt my family.”
“You're just strong as your character?”
“Yep, I've always been interested in martial arts as a kid. It's lovely and dangerous depending on the fighter.”
“Is there you’d change about your character?”
“There's no way she had a shred of love for the guy who called her brother, a victim of domestic violence, a loser. That's what I was going to say earlier. I hate that people are still making statements about the situation and saying the wrong things.” She banged her fist on the table as she spoke.
“Yeah, they forget that it's a mental thing too. No matter how strong he was, he couldn't just step up to his brother. The abuser wears down your confidence until you're right where they want you.”
“Exactly! And no matter what they say, he was the youngest. As the older sibling of course I’d let him lie. With the way society is, they wouldn't care that he's the youngest or that he was scared. I wouldn't want them to know either.”
“It's bad enough he's puking blood, but you're gonna add to his trouble by calling him a loser. That helps a lot.”
“But I guess that just shows what they think about real victims because the writer did portray it well.” Her voice was much more cheerful as she gave praise.
“He did because no matter how strong you are, the chances of them being able to act like your character are lower than they think.”
“Yep, that's like when people say they could never be with someone who mistreats them but reality hits and they’re another statistic.”
“Sad really. Nothing will change if they don't try to learn the full extent of abuse and not see it as something you can just fix in a day.”
Tumblr media
⚁ Souya ⚁
“It's nice to see you again.” He hugged you before sitting across from you. “I heard about you and Tak-”
“Lies, all lies. Let's not spread rumors. Spread the truth.” He giggled at your reaction. A flash of his silver grill blinded you for a second.
“That's why I'm here. First question.”
“How do you feel about the fans reaction to your character?”
“They’d hate me in real life because I’d...” He pressed his lips and balled his fist.
“You’d do what and why?”
“I’d be fighting because of Nahoya. It's always Nahoya. If he ever flirted with my partner, I’d beat his ass.”
“What if they were flirting, and he didn't entertain it.”
“I‘m the type to hurt those who hurt me. I don't care who you are, don't play with my heart. I don't deserve to be hurt. I'm a great lover.”
“Aww, I’d treat you nice.”
“You promise?”
“You’d want for nothing, but what else would make them hate you?”
“I don't cry every time there’s a problem. I'm vocal about my feelings and I often go too far.”
“Just like that?”
“Only if you're the reason we're arguing. If you do me dirty, I want to make you miserable.”
“I understand. That's why people take a minute to think about the situation before talking.”
“To those of you tuning in, send a text before you get home. Unless you want me to lash out.”
“Don’t warn them!”
“Either way, justice will be served.”
“Sou-sou, how do you relate to your character?”
“I love my brother.”
“Be for real.” You pushed his shoulder and he grabbed your hand.
“Welp. People think I'm rude, but unlike my character, I like it.”
“What?”
“It makes them change how they talk to me. They don't want to upset me because they think I’ll beat them up.”
“I'm sure it has its negative effects. Don't people assume you're being rude and try to argue?”
“Yeah, but I shut it down. If it escalates, that's their fault. They shouldn't assume how I am.”
“Is there anything you’d change about your character?”
“I don't know why he hasn't snapped yet.”
“Why would he? He's such a sweetie. He doesn't even like fighting.”
“He needs to start calling out his so-called friends. They treat him like a nurse but don't spend much time with him. It's obvious Nahoya’s their favorite and that hurts. Can you imagine being a twin and seeing everyone treat them better? And you're supposedly the nice one.”
“I see. Does that happen to you outside the series?”
“No, I'm loved by all my friends. Is that the last question?”
“Yep, we're all done.”
“Wanna grab something to eat?”
“After my interview with Tetta.”
Tumblr media
⚀ Tetta ⚀
“How do you feel about the fans reaction to your character?” You asked.
“I don’t care, but it does irritate me since I know why it’s happening.” He rolled his eyes and groaned.
“What are they doing that bothers you, Tetta?”
“I feel as if people like me, who have similar experiences in life, understand what the fans are doing.”
“And what’s that?”
“You know.” He was right, but you wanted him to say it.
“I do, but some of the viewers don’t. Explain it for them.”
“Just know that if Shuji and I swapped roles, he’d have ten times the fans he does now.” The two of you laughed, the cameraman raised an eyebrow. “He’d become everyone’s favorite bad boy on screen. The viewers would make stories about him being the big bad mafia leader that takes care of them.”
“They don’t do that for you?”
“They do, but it's just a handful. However, the majority have me in their non-negotiable.”
“Meaning?”
“They won't write for my character at all. But my loyal follower, Shuji, gets a pass. He loved it a bit much, even got thrills from it, yet avoids the backlash.” You tried to hold back your laughter, but he made it hard.
“How do you relate to your character?”
“I know what it’s like to have the world against you. I grew up in a country that didn’t treat me well. It’s one thing to have other kids being mean to you, but another to have adults join in on the insults and mockery. It’s tough.”
“How did you manage to keep going and not crumble at the weight of their words?”
“My family made sure I knew that I mattered. When I would go home sad, they showed me in different ways that I’m loved. They went behind my bullies and gave me double the kindness. As a kid, it helped a lot. I’m grateful for their love and support.”
“That’s so sweet, you’re gonna make me cry.”
“I’m the one that got bullied. You just heard the story.”
“The memory has me emotional.” You fanned your face with the note cards in your hand.
“Do you want a hug?”
“From you, of course.”
“Is there anything you’d change about your character?”
“Not a damn thing.”
“Language.” You joked.
“Haha, there’s nothing to change. He’s well-written. No matter how people feel or what they say, he carries out his plan because he knows if he puts his mind to it, it’s set in stone.”
“You’d leave him with the trait that has him kill his childhood friend in every universe?”
“Yeah, that’s what gives Takemichi purpose. Speaking of Takemichi, is it true you and him-“
“Thanks for your time. Hopefully, we can chat in the future.”
“No problem, I always have time for you.”

Built for Love Part 7 (MBJ x Famous Black OC)
A/N: no warnings… just lots of cuteness, fluff and a side of smut :)
Tumblr media
“So Charlotte, this is your first major film and you got to work alongside veterans in the industry like Michael,” the interviewer, Janelle, gestured toward Michael, who sat next to Charlotte, “And Sylvester Stallone. What was that like for you?”
Charlotte immediately threw a glance and sweet smile toward Michael. “Oh it was so much fun. Really like showing up to a master class in acting every single day. I loved every minute of it. You know they were both so welcoming and warm and really made the set fun but also were more than happy to show me the ropes and give me a boost when I needed it. And this one,” she rubbed Michael’s knee, her smile growing from a professional small one to the bright wide smile he adored, the one that brightened every single day he was with her, causing his lips to curl into one as well. Her hand remained perched right above his knee, resting lazily as she continued speaking. “He really has a way about him that makes you feel so at ease and comfortable on set and in his presence in general. And he just went above and beyond to be an amazing and supportive scene partner. So it was great, I learned a lot from them.”
“And Michael, how was it working with Charlotte?”
Michael’s hand went to rest on hers, squeezing it lightly as he showered well deserved praise on the love of his life. “I would echo what she said. But I think we all learned a lot more from her than she did from us. I mean I know she’s gonna have a long and successful career and anyone who gets to work with her will be extremely lucky. Because her process is just crazy and makes mine look like child’s play.”
Charlotte rolled her eyes with a smile. If she could’ve, she would’ve blushed. Though a Michael could see her skin flush red with embarrassment at his showering of kind words. “He’s exaggerating.”
“Nahhh I’m not. I think bringing her experience from the theater, which I don’t have, really was, you know, interesting to see. Not only is she just a fun person to have on set, but she really is a student of this craft and you can see it in how she moves around the set. And not just of the script or source material, but of the other actors as well. You know I’d be doing a scene and she’d be on the side just watching, studying us. And she really gets to know you, your quirks, your tells, and she’s able to respond to them in the moment. If I wanted to go somewhere left field, I just did and she would be right there with me, no hesitation or anything. And I really only see that in people like Sly who’ve been doing this for decades and decades. For someone our age, it’s just talent and art I’ve never seen before. She’s just one of a kind.”
He eyed her and the way she intently studied the black fabric of her dress, the way both of her cheeks flushed red with humility and embarrassment, how she chewed on her bottom lip to keep from grimacing at the praise, praise she did not hear enough and was not used to in his opinion.
“And she’s crazy humble so I know she hates everything I just said,” he chuckled, elbowing her gently.
Sure enough, one hand covered her face with embarrassment, Michael squeezing the other before turning his attention back to the interviewer.
Though they had agreed not to tell people they were dating yet, the pair found the casting of “platonic co-stars” to be their most difficult roles yet. The subtle touches that passed between them were as thoughtless as breathing, second nature that they could not turn off and did not often realize what was happening until skin was against skin. Charlotte was hyper aware of every touch, every stroke of his fingertips that left a trail of heat painting the path he trekked. It was not always a sexual heat, sometimes it was more of a comforting warmth like a sip of hot cocoa in the winter, a warmth that lingers and makes you want ease into it. She craved that type of touch above all because she saw the intention behind them, nonverbal reminders that he was near, that his touch would always be gentle and safe, and that her guards could crumble. And many times, his touch set her body ablaze, leaving an inferno of desire and need etched into every inch of her skin. And those were the touches that she fought to resist, fought to remember the role she was meant to play. After all, platonic co-stars do not study each other as if they are waiting for the first private moment to rip each other’s clothes off.
“I love how you both talk about each other and your work ethic. I think that is really great to see. So we are gonna play a quick game. To see how in tune you are with your characters. ” The interviewer reached into her bag and pulled out two paddles with their characters’ names on either side. “I’m gonna read the statement and you tell me who is more likely to do that thing or who would be better at whatever it is, Bianca or Adonis.”
“Sounds easy enough.”
“Ok so who would plan the better date? Bianca or Adonis?”
Both of them raised the side that said Adonis. They glanced down at each other’s answer before nodding.
“Yea I think Donnie is a bit more of a romantic than Bianca,” Charlotte supplied.
“Yea but I think Bianca would show Donnie a better night out. He doesn’t get out much and being a singer, she probably knows all the local spots.”
“Who are you most likely to call in an emergency?”
Charlotte raised the paddle with her own character’s name, immediately busting out into laughter as she saw Michael raise Donnie’s.
“Absolutely not! Just like I wouldn’t call you in an emergency,” she laughed, gesturing at Michael.
“What?? I’m great in an emergency!” He immediately defended himself though his tone was playful because he knew she was right.
“Maybe if the emergency happened like right in front of you. Like you know, if someone gets hurt or something like that, you have a great… super comforting and calming presence. But he literally doesn’t really answer his phone. So if someone were injured, they’d call him 8 times, go to the hospital, be totally healed, and two months later, he’d be like ‘aye what happened that time you called me?’” Her voice dropped down a bit to an unexpected but excellent impression of him that caused his body to double over in laughter, leaning into hers as they both laughed for several minutes before they calmed down enough to continue the interview, Charlotte wiping literal tears from her eyes.
“Y-yea I’m really bad at calling people back. I got like five people who I’ll call back immediately and that’s about it. But I think Donnie would be good in an emergency. He’s got these hands,” Michael threw up a couple playful jabs, Charlotte playfully dodging them. “He’d be good at whatever you threw at him.”
“I still say Bianca,” she shrugged with a smile. “That’s my girl, I gotta stand by her. So let’s say they’re equal.”
“Who’d win in a fight?”
Both of them immediately picked Adonis.
“Did you learn any boxing moves while you were on set, Charlotte?” Janelle asked, pausing the game briefly.
“A couple actually. I was against learning for most of our time on set,” she admitted, not that the fighting and learning how to defend herself did not intrigue her. She just always talked herself out of it when Michael offered. “But this one,” she pointed at Michael,” is quite persuasive and a great teacher so he finally got me in the ring randomly one afternoon while we were waiting around during our last couple weeks.”
“So if we put you both in the ring, who would win?”
“Me,” she answered immediately as if the answer was obvious.
“Only because I’d let her. But she would gloat about it like she earned it fair and square,” he teased.
“Very true! He let me win a lot but I just took it to mean he recognized my superior skill as a boxer and knew he didn’t stand a chance? So it must be true.”
“Of course,” Janelle joked with them, their banter providing great content for her interview. “Ok back to the game, who has the better Spotify playlist?”
Once again, their opinions were split, each choosing their own characters though she could tell Michael hesitated.
“Oh come onnnn,” her fingers gripped his forearm, shaking him lightly. “Bianca, easy. Music’s her whole life and you know she knows about all the good artists before they’re popular.”
“Touche. Alrightly,” he flipped his paddle to her character’s name, Charlotte offering him a sweet ‘thank you’ for recognizing her character’s superior talent.
“Who is the better cook?”
Both of them stared down at their paddles before glancing at each other and laughing.
“Ok so funny enough, we had this conversation on set a-”
“We don’t think it’s either of them. Bianca gives strong quick meals and take out energy,” Michael interjected.
“And we think Adonis is a boring meal prep or take out type of guy. Chicken breasts, rice, rinse repeat. Maybe they’ll learn how to cook together?” She offered with a shrug.
Michael let out a soft noise in the affirmative.
“Ok and lastly, who would confess their feelings to the other first?”
They both held up Adonis.
“I think that’s a really hard one though and could go either way. I think they both are terrible at letting people in,” Charlotte laughed. “But when it comes to love, Bianca might be a bit more guarded than Donnie whereas Donnie is more guarded about everything else like his past, his career, and all that. So I think when pushed for an answer, Donnie’s gonna cave a lot faster than Bianca.”
“Agreed. I think feelings and vulnerability aren’t easy for either of them though, which you know brings some fun conflict to the movie and in their budding relationship.”
“Amazing, well I want to thank you both. This was a lot of fun and I appreciate you taking the time to chat with me.”
“Thank you!”
“Appreciate you.”
The interview left, both of them immediately sagging back in their seats for a brief moment as the room turned over for the next interviewer.
Charlotte rolled her neck, massaging her shoulder, an action that was immediately noticed by Michael who moved her hand out of the way to give her a firmer touch.
“You’re doing great, Els,” he offered quietly.
“You weren’t lying,” she whispered.
“About?”
“How tedious this is. J-just the same questions after the same questions after the most random games. And we have like 8 more of these. It’s not so bad with you but the ones by myself? Fucking torture.” She was thankful there was no camera watching as her eyes lulled closed and she savored the firm massaging Michael provided. She had to stifle a moan that almost escaped her lips, the noise pettering out into a strangled sigh, as his ministrations hit a tense spot on her shoulder.
He dipped his head to her ear farthest away from the folks around the room, his breath tickled her ear and sent electricity through her.
“Easy, Els…” two short words in a deep breathy whisper that signaled he knew what that sound originally was, a whisper that made desire pool between her thighs.
“I hate you,” she whispered back with a shake of her head.
And as quickly as their hidden moment started, she felt his hands drop to his sides, her shoulders suddenly feeling cold and deprived without his touch. A new camera crew and interviewer started to stroll in, forcing her to roll her shoulder, fix her face, and ignore the ache that he caused and only he could remedy.
This is gonna be a long day, she uttered silently as she plastered a fake smile on her face for the next interviewer.
***
“Hey, I’m Michael B. Jordan.”
“And I’m Charlotte Bennett and we are playing, ‘How Well Do You Know Your Co-star?’”
“You ready?”
“Born ready,” she joked. “I feel like this game was kinda made for us?” The pair completely ignored the cameras as they started pulling questions out of a bowl, each taking turns answering questions about each other’s careers and lives.
Truth be told, this game would be the easiest of their press tour game-style interviews. Buzzfeed did not know this, of course, but since the pair was dating, they knew almost everything there was to know about each other.
“Ok, I’ll pull first.” Her manicured nail reached into the bowl, searching deep for a question. “Oh this is actually a hard one. Where did I get my middle name?” She waved the little piece of paper before glancing away from Michael and to the camera. “I feel like this question is super pointed,” she laughed. “Like someone at Buzzfeed clearly wants that story themselves.”
Michael let out a laugh. “Come on Els,” he shook her knee as he emphasized her nickname. “You gotta give me a harder one than that.”
“That is hard! We talked about it being a weird name because-”
“It’s German but no one in your family is German,” he interjected.
“Yes but I don’t think we ever discussed how they picked it.”
“We didn’t but I still know the answer.” At her shocked expression, Michael could only smirk. Of course he knew the origins of his favorite nickname for her. What kind of boyfriend would he be if he didn’t? “Your mom was a European history professor and read it in a book about the history of art in Germany and fell in love with it. But your pops hated it because…”
“He knew his daughter was a black woman.”
“Which is fair. So they made it your middle name, combined with your first name, which was your great grandmother’s name on your dad’s side.”
“Wow, that’s insane. I’ve literally never told you that story! Because I hate the name so much,” she eyed him suspiciously, desperate to know how he managed that. “How’d you find that out?”
“I’d never reveal my sources,” he winked at her.
However, the wink gave him away. She immediately rolled her eyes, “My brother?”
“For sure.”
“I don’t know if I really like how close y’all have gotten??” And it was true, since officially meeting Jackson, the two couples hung out quite a lot and Charlotte was shocked to find out that Michael and Jackson hung out on their own time. “Ok, if you got that one, then you’re gonna get every other one in this bowl. Your turn.”
“How’d I get into acting?”
“A talent agent saw you and your mom at an appointment and encouraged her to sign you up for modeling. And then you got into acting and became a superstar.”
“Correct.”
“What’s my biggest pet peeve?”
“Tardiness,” he answered immediately. “Which means she hates Hollywood and me because I’m literally never on time.”
“Also correct. This man is literally allergic to being on time. The only place he’s on time to is set and he rolls in like right at call time. Everything else?” She waved her hand dismissively. “You can forget about it.”
“She always got jokes. Alright. Oh this is hard. What was my first TV role?”
“Oh… darn… I know this! Don’t tell me.” Her hand went to rest on his forearm, her fingers drawing lazy patterns as she racked her brain for her store of Michael B Jordan knowledge. “Ummm… ok. I have to do it based on the Wire. Sweet sweet Wallace, RIP by the way, was the first major TV role. But little known fact, you had a small role in one episode of the Sopranos like 2 or 3 years before the Wire. And then I think you did one more guest role on a show, maybe Cosby, before you landed the Wire.”
“Ooooo baby girl!” They high fived, their hands staying together for a few moments while he spoke. “That’s really good! Everyone assumes it was the Wire, which she just watched like two years ago by the way, y’all.”
Charlotte gasped and threw one of her pieces of paper at him, which completely missed him much to his amusement before covering her face in embarrassment.
“They are gonna drag me on Twitter all week. Can we edit that out??” She asked production behind the camera to which they laughed and shook their heads.
“Ok in her defense, she is actually not a big tv watcher at all unlike me. But I don’t think I ever found out why?”
“Ummm, I dunno. Just was always busy in the evenings, missed a lot of primetime tv so I just never really got into it. Since streaming’s picked up, I’ve found my way to all the cultural phenomenon shows I missed, like the Wire. I’d seen episodes randomly because my brothers watched it but I just binged like the entire show two years ago.”
“Oh another one, I just put her on to Game of Thrones like last week,” he added with a teasing tone, not giving her a break. He never did.
“You’re making it worseeeee,” she moaned. “Gotta stop telling the people the shows I just discovered. He loves embarrassing me and making fun of me, y’all. I’m pretty far on GoT though for us to have just started it. Just started season 3, which Michael is on pins and needles for me to get to some episode about a wedding?” Michael threw a knowing glance at the camera before turning back to her. “But yea not a big tv watcher. Alright, next one,” she desperately wanted to move the subject away from her lack of TV knowledge. “What is my favorite food?”
“My bolognese.”
She made the buzzing sound just to annoy him. “Wrong answer!”
At his faux offended look, she stuck her tongue out at him like a child. “That’s what you get for trying to get my black card revoked by the entire internet.”
“She does really love my Bolognese,” she mouthed ‘I do’ at the camera as he spoke. “But I think her actual favorite food is pizza, particularly meat lovers pizza.”
“Yes. Anytime, anywhere. I’ll always choose pizza.”
“What is my favorite sport to watch and which team?”
“Easy! Basketball, the Lakers, you have courtside seats and have a Kobe jersey hanging in your house. Speaking of, you still owe me a game.”
“Name the time and place, baby girl.”
“What’s my dream role?”
“Elphaba from Wicked.”
She could not help but offer him a soft small smile, their banter dying as she remembered the first night they went out in Philly and she told him that, the first time she had to contend with the fact that her feelings for him stretched far beyond co-stars. He had been so interested in her, her career and her dreams. She had just been talking, never expecting him to hold onto that information after so long.
“I told you that like the first time we went out to dinner on set. How do you remember that?”
He merely shrugged and threw her a sly smirk that sent shivers down her spine. “I remember everything you tell me.”
His words were colored with love and adoration, she could hear it and feel it. For a moment, she could tell they both forgot the cameras were rolling and that there was a small audience as her heart swelled.
He cleared his throat, breaking the trance as he remembered they were not alone, before grabbing another piece of paper. “Umm… ok, soft ball, when’s my birthday?”
She made a face and noise that signaled this question was beneath her expert level of Michael knowledge.
“February 9, he’s an Aquarius. This is a good mix of easy and hard questions.” She reached into the bowl. “What’s my favorite song?”
“Ummm Sweet Love by Anita Baker. You listen to it at least once a day.”
“Very good, Mr. Jordan.”
“Sing a couple bars.”
Charlotte immediately shook her head. “No, no, no, no. You aren’t gonna get me caught up on this one. No one, and I mean no one, can do it like THE Ms. Anita Baker. I wouldn’t dare try.”
“She’s being hella modest. Come on… you sang it at karaoke that time in Philly and got a standing ovation. It was flawless. Sing just the chorus and I’ll make you the bolognese when we get back to LA.”
Charlotte knew she could not retort that he was going to do that regardless, which was true. A well placed kiss or two was going to get her that bolognese either way. So she groaned, knowing she could not say no as the folks behind the camera also encouraged her to sing.
“He knows I’m a sucker for that meal. Ugh. Loves for me to be his personal jukebox.”
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, knowing if she looked at him while she sang this particular song, she would give it all away.
With all my heart, I love you, baby
Stay with me and you will see
My arms will hold you, baby
Never leave, 'cause I believe I'm in love
Michael’s face immediately lit up as her flawless and smooth voice filled his ears. He loved to hear her sing, her voice was mesmerizing, a siren that controlled the waters of his soul and put his entire being at ease every time he heard her voice. She sang to him sometimes while they laid in bed, this song and others, and he never grew tired of it and believed he never would.
Sweet love
Hear me callin' out your name
I feel no shame
I'm in love, sweet love
Don't you ever go away
It'll always be this way
She offered him a smirk as the last note left her mouth, both of them remembering the last time she sang that to him, their bodies a tangled mess as they cuddled in his bed.
Her heart soared at the applause she could hear from behind the cameras from the Buzzfeed staff and their team. She did a mini bow before the pair continued to answer two more questions before they heard “cut.”
Michael helped Charlotte get down from her seat, her skirt a bit too short for the high chairs they had put out for both of them. She could tell his hands fought the urge to find their way up that short skirt. Anytime a camera was not trained on him, she could feel his eyes on her, drinking in her toned thighs and ass.
Through all the events and interviews of the day, she desired nothing more than to feel those calloused hands against her smooth exposed skin. But she knew she had to wait, as always. The facade slipped occasionally for both of them throughout the long days. However, they knew when they were finally allowed to be them, and when they did, they could not keep their hands off each other.
***
“Fuck. J-Just like that, don’t stop, don’t stop,” Charlotte begged as she pressed her fingertips into the floor, Michael fucking her from behind as he kept her hinged at the waist. She was barely maintaining her balance on her feet, his hands digging into her hips were the only thing that kept her from toppling over. However, they both chased their release with desperation, desperation to be one again, to feel each other in the most intimate ways.
She loved the feeling, the snap of his hips against her ass, the way he spanked her, causing her ass to ripple lightly. If someone had asked her years ago, she would have scoffed at the idea that she would enjoy that during sex but she did… with him. Because his touch was still him, still safe, gentle and cautious. He was rough, at times, during sex, and used a firm hand but his touch managed to still maintain the rounded edges of tenderness to them, the caution of someone who knew the limit and would never cross it for sport or even come close to it. So she trusted his touch, trusted his actions, which always ensured his dominance in the bedroom bent toward her pleasure first and foremost.
“Keep your eyes on the mirror for me, baby,” he ordered, his words loving but his tone left no room for arguments. She lifted her head to the floor to the long mirror in the hotel room to watch him fuck her.
She had never really seen herself in the throes of passion, shocked at how wild and uninhibited she looked. It was a difficult task to keep her eyes where he wanted them though, each stroke made her eyes want to roll back into her head or fall closed, the pleasure otherworldly and intense.
“You look so fuckin’ beautiful taking my dick, baby. You gonna cum for me?”
Charlotte was a blubbering mess, her words shallow and broken into pieces by her moans and pants of pleasure. Meanwhile, he always appeared unruffled, complete sentences flowing without issue.
“Y-Yes,” she could feel it, the precious peak of her orgasm. When she finally revealed to Michael one night that he made her orgasm for the first time, he seemed to take it as his personal mission to ensure she never went without again. And she hadn’t. Every time he nestled himself between her thighs, every time he touched her, she reached her mountain top. Every single time.
“Watch yourself cum, baby.” As the instructions left his mouth, he increased his speed, slamming his hips into her with the force and strength of a superhero.
Michael loved to watch Charlotte come undone, savored the faces she made and the way she screamed his name as pleasure coursed through her. This mirror allowed him to enjoy his favorite position with the perfect view of her.
As soon as her eyes connected with his, her body shook with the force and strength of her orgasm. Michael continued his relentless pace as she came, reaching his own peak as he felt her tighten around him.
He gently helped her over to the bed, Charlotte collapsing there. He placed soft kisses on her back for a moment before going to grab a towel to clean them both up.
She took a moment before pushing herself up onto her forearms, her eyes brimming with lust as they followed his naked body through his hotel room.
“Don’t get any ideas,” he warned, his tone not conveying any real seriousness. “We gotta go to bed. Our flight back is early as hell tomorrow.”
“Ugh fine. I know,” she pouted. They were on the first flight back to LA tomorrow for another long day of press before the premiere. “If we go another round, I’ll definitely just fall asleep in here.” Her face planted into the bed for a moment, Michael chuckling at her dramatic but adorable antics.
“Would sleeping next to me be so bad?” He asked as he laid next to her on the bed, more sensual and soft kisses pressing against her back.
She moaned, painfully pulling herself away from him and his touch. “Now who has all the bad ideas?” She asked as she rolled away from him to grab her clothes. “Sleeping next to you is my preferred spot. I sleep far better with you,” she added under her breath though Michael caught it and clocked it for later. “But we don’t want a guest or housekeeping or anyone seeing me traipse outta here like a one-night stand. Platonic co-stars, remember?”
Michael sighed and nodded. He had agreed to this course before they left for Philly to start press but he did not realize how difficult it would be or feel in practice. It was a mutual decision, neither of the actors in them ready to burst the sweet bubble that was their ultra private relationship just yet. However, the regular guy in him who was madly in love with his girlfriend wanted to shout it from the rooftops. He wanted to post photos of them on Instagram and talk freely about his girlfriend. As ridiculous and corny as his friends would call him for feeling that way. In every interview, he wanted to praise her performance, work ethic, talent, not just as her co-worker, but as the man lucky to be with her. But he also understood that going public meant subjecting Charlotte and himself to scrutiny they did not want or need.
“I know, I know. Just you leaving after I nut makes me feel like we’re a booty call. I miss sleeping next to you. I miss touching on you all the time.”
She smiled and stood between his knees as he sat up.
“You still touch on me quite a lot, according to Twitter,” she laughed as they recalled an intervention style meeting their teams had with them the day before about the fascinating and hilarious Twitter discourse on whether their great chemistry in interviews was truly platonic.
So they had tried to keep their hands to themselves throughout that day. However, all that did was rack up the sexual tension between them to such heights, even his utterly platonic touches created flames across her skin. They barely made it through dinner two hours prior before they stumbled up to Michael’s room and fucked for hours. His entryway was a blur of discarded clothes that marked a trail to his bed.
“And it ain’t enough.”
She rolled her eyes and kissed his forehead before resuming her search for her panties. She let out a disgruntled huff of annoyance.
“Seriously, though… maybe we should think about just announcing it ourselves and getting it over- UGH.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Can’t find my damn underwear.” At his snickers, she let out a pitiful moan. “Not funny, Bakari. Help me,” she pleaded with a dramatic whine that had him searching his bedroom. He had no idea where he threw them off, having likely tossed them somewhere when they left her body. “But yea, the team might have a point that we should just announce it. If we don’t, it’ll leak eventually. I feel like saying it how we want to matters. People seem to think they got us figured out anyway. And we aren’t doing a very good job of hiding certain feelings.”
He nodded, unable to argue with her on that point as he handed her the rest of her outfit. She now had her bra, dress, jacket, spanx and still no underwear to be found.
“What do you think?”
He sighed. “I think I like living in our bubble, the quiet of it. But I also don’t like hiding who I love. I mean we can’ hide it forever and why should we? I mean think about how much more fun this tour would be if we weren’t worried about saying the wrong thing or keeping up some dumb ass facade. I want to enjoy this time with you as you, my girl. Not just my coworker.”
She nodded, finally giving up her search with a defeated shrug. “You sure? You’re gonna break hearts all across the globe.”
He shrugged, his arms stretching out as he yawned, so deep Charlotte felt the exhaustion settle in her own bones. It made her move a bit faster to get out of his hair so he can rest.
“They’ll find a new sexier guy and their hearts will mend.”
She slid on her shoes before walking up to him. Even in her heels she had to stretch a bit to reach his lips. She pressed her lips to his, biting his lower lip before backing away and walking toward the door.
“There’s no one sexier, baby,” she offered with a wink.
He smiled and grabbed her purse for her, a lacy piece of fabric falling off of the side as he moved it.
“Ah. Think I found them. But I don’t think they’re wearable?”
“What do you me-?” Her words stopped as he held them up, the beautiful black, delicate lace torn apart by the brute strength of a boxer.
“Seriously dude??” Her annoyance was clear even as lust curled in her belly. She could not tell if she was upset he kept accidentally destroying her most delicate lace items or if she was so turned on by his soft but commanding strength that she wanted to strip down for round 5. “You and those damn muscles.” She held out her hand for the destroyed piece of clothing and tossed it into the trash. “Please skip arm day before you destroy any more of my clothes.”
“If I skip arm day, how else could I do this?” He hoisted her up in the air with ease like she weighed nothing, her legs automatically wrapping around his waist as he backed her into the wall.
His firm grip on her bare ass beneath her dress made her moan as he buried his head into her neck and sucked on every inch of soft skin he could find.
“T-touche,” she moaned. “A-and not fair.” However, he had her right where he wanted her, one rogue finger already able to feel the wetness pooling between her thighs. She moaned as that finger caressed her clit. She knew she was not making it to her hotel room anytime soon.
“We can sleep on the plane,” he muttered as he felt himself growing hard again. Charlotte could do nothing but cling to his shoulders and cry out in utter bliss as he entered her in one swift motion, filling her to the brim, fucking her against the wall. This time, she could see their reflection in the window and he did not need to command her to watch as she took in his perfect back muscles as he thrust in and out of her.
By the time they finished, Charlotte was resigned to falling asleep in Michael’s arms, wanting to get good rest in the arms of the man she loved more than caring whether a housekeeper or rogue person with a camera caught her leaving. She just planned to sneak off a bit early to her room so they did not leave together. She was thankful she had the foresight to pack that morning so she would have minimal things to deal with tomorrow. As she settled on his chest, she heard his voice break the silence around them.
“Be my date to the premiere.”
Charlotte knew it was a question, even if he did not phrase it as one, and a return to their earlier conversation. She propped herself up to look him in the eyes.
“You sure? Once we go down that road…”
“Without a doubt. I don’t want to hide what we have. We ain’t gotta tell people everything but we also don’t gotta hide.”
She smiled and kissed him before settling back on his chest.
“Yes.”
Though they could not see each other, both of them fell asleep with soft smiles on their faces.
***
Michael’s hand grasped Charlotte’s, an effort to stop her fidgeting as their limo took them to the premiere.
“It’ll be fun, babe. Just some photos, a couple interviews and then we get to finally see the film.” He leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to her cheek, the uneasy waters in Charlotte’s body relaxing to a soft rapids. “Relax.”
She nodded. “I know, I know.”
He eyed her for a moment. “You know we can just walk as co-stars. We don’t have to announce it or do anything tonight if you aren’t ready for it. I know it’s an adjustment.”
She shook her head immediately, sliding closer to him. “That’s not it at all. I want to be beside you tonight as your girlfriend. I just…” she shook her head before sliding back into her seat, her insecurities flaring. However, she stomped them back. She did not even want to give voice to them, they seemed so foolish. “Never mind.”
“You know I hate when you do that,” he chuckled, his hand rubbing her thigh. “Tell me. No embarrassment and no judgment.”
She leaned her head back, careful to not disturb her team’s hard work.
“I’m just worried about what people will say… with me on your arm,” she muttered, her voice small. Michael picked up on the tone as if there was something wrong with her.
“What’s wrong with you on my arm?”
She let out a merciless chuckle as if the answer was obvious. “You’re practically every woman’s wet dream, Michael. A-and I’m just…”
“Just what?”
“Just… me. Nothing particularly special,” she muttered, the insecurities she still could not shake flowing from her. She knew he saw her differently, and loved him for it. But the rest of the world? No one knew how they would see her and that terrified her.
“I think there are plenty of people who’d disagree with that. But trust me when I say that I don’t care what a single person out there thinks… All I care about is what you think, what you believe. And I want you to believe you deserve all of this. Not just me,” his finger tilted her chin to meet his eye. “But praise, attention, and this moment. This premiere is as much yours as it is mine. And one of the reasons we decided to go together was to celebrate us and how far we’ve come, personally and professionally since we met. So for tonight, don’t think about what anyone else thinks o-or any of the other shit. Think about what you know and what I know. And that’s that you are beautiful and talented and any guy would be lucky to have you on their arm.” He snickered. “But they can’t because I got you.”
His last statement made a small chuckle escape her lips. “You always know what to say… it’s as infuriating as it is charming, you know?”
“Yea I know. Listen, I'm with you every step of the way, aight? Anytime you feel unsteady, just squeeze my hand and I’ll catch you.”
“You always do.”
And that’s exactly what she did. Her insecurities ebbed and flowed but there was one constant through it all: Michael. His hand only left hers one as they posed on the carpet. She felt that unsteadiness creep up on her once and she tested it, giving his hand a light squeeze as they posed.
He did not miss a beat, immediately snagging her attention from the reporters. However, to her surprise, he did not say anything, he just leaned in and kissed her. A kiss that melted away all those insecurities, all her fear, and steadied her immediately. It was short and chaste but it was all she needed, her heart soothing again.
The yells from the reporters increased and it caused a stir but Charlotte blocked it out. His words echoed through her head. This was their moment to spend how they wanted and she did not want to waste it being afraid that she was not enough. Michael thought she was and if that was enough for her, it would be for the rest of the world.
By the time they returned to Michael’s house, Charlotte was on cloud 9. He worshiped her body as he always did, the perfect ending to a perfect night with him. It was all she thought about as she meandered in his kitchen at 3 am.
Charlotte’s leg jingled as she made herself a cup of tea, nothing but the light above his counter guiding her as she moved around his kitchen like she had been there for years. She did not want to be disrespectful, after all, it was not her space. But Michael seemed happy to give her free range so she took it when needed.
And tonight, her free range activity was breaking into his mom’s tea collection. He was upstairs, dead to the world asleep, but the beast of sleep was too elusive for Charlotte to capture. She always struggled with sleep, only routinely getting 5 hours on a good night, less when things were busy or she had a lot on her mind. It did not bother her much anymore, her body accustomed to functioning on the little sleep she was able to get. But since she spent so many nights at Michael’s, she found it harder and harder to hide her persistent sleep issues. She slept better here in his arms, which is why she chose to be there more than her own. But some nights, she found it nearly impossible to get any rest. And since she wasn’t at her own home, she had none of her gadgets and hobbies to distract her. All she had was a pen and notebook, which she would use to write songs quietly in the kitchen while she drank her tea to pass the time.
Usually, her energy was pained, sleep evading her for negative reasons. But tonight, it just felt different. She was happy, genuinely happy. A song formed in her head and tried as she might to sleep without writing it, she could not. She had missed this feeling, the creative restless energy that kept you awake, not nightmares and trauma. She knew it was him, there was no other explanation. His love had awakened in her a new energy and lyrics flowed from her mind to the page as she sipped her tea in the dim light, no interest in returning to bed until this was done.
She was only pulled out of her writing as her phone started to light up.
“Now who could be texting me this late?” She muttered to herself, glancing to find her sister in law and brother texting in their group chat. Unsurprising, since they were likely dealing with their twin toddlers.
She opened it, her eyes growing wide at the screenshot from Michael’s instagram.
Jackson: Why didn’t you tell us y’all were premiering your relationship tonight too??? Had to find out on social like a commoner
LoLo: he really thinks he’s part of your relationship
LoLo: congrats girl! Glad to see the premiere was a success in many ways
Charlotte giggled before she closed her messaging app and went to Instagram. She had her notifications turned off for it, never being a big social user herself anyway. However, that often meant she missed posts she was tagged in.
She immediately went to her activity page and found a notification from Michael.
The picture was of the pair kissing and holding hands on the red carpet earlier that night with the caption:
Celebrating tonight with my leading lady on screen and off. Here’s to many more Creed premiere date nights in our future.
She opened the comments to find a million versions of heart eye emojis, hearts, and excited “I knew it” comments from his followers.
Her heart swelled as she examined their photo, reveled in how carefree and happy they both looked.
“God I love him,” she whispered as she added a comment of her own.
Another perfect date night with you with a few heart emojis and a kissing face.
“I love you too.”
Her tea cup clattered against the granite counter, the scalding liquid splashing out onto her hand and the counter as Michael’s voice interrupted her quiet musings. She turned to find him perched against the entryway to the kitchen. She supposed she should not have been shocked to find him in his own kitchen but she was surprised she did not hear him coming down the stairs.
“Busted?” She drew her lip in between her teeth, a drop of guilt coloring her words.
Michael chuckled and closed the distance between them. “You were busted a while ago, babe. My mom noticed the tea disappearing faster than usual and mentioned that there might be a night time tea thief lurking around. Figured I’d catch you one of these days.”
Charlotte smiled. “Sorry, I was gonna replace it.”
He shook his head. “I don’t care about the tea. I already got her some more. I do care about why you’re up this early? We just went to bed at 1.”
He sat down on the bar stool next to her. She held up her notebook, which she allowed to fall closed.
“Had a song and couldn’t sleep till I wrote it down. Got distracted by someone’s very sweet instagram post.”
“I was wondering when you were gonna see it. You weren’t lyin’ when you said you don’t use social like that.” He paused. “So you enjoyed tonight?”
She nodded, “It was perfect. You’re perfect. And the movie was fantastic.”
“I thought so too. So when do I get to hear this song that kept you away from my bed?” He dropped his lips to her shoulder, his breath causing goosebumps to form.
Her hand tightened around the book protectively. It was not ready for his ears, not yet anyway. “Soon. I promise, it’ll be worth the wait.” She grabbed her tea cup and took his hand. “I got most of it down, it's enough for tonight. Let’s go back to bed.”
He nodded, leading her back to his bedroom so they could rest.

leading man
pairing: hugh grant x reader
word count: 1.134
warnings: age gap (early 20s/late50s)
prompt: reader is an inexperienced (in more than one way) actor who’s just booked a film job, and she strikes up a conversation with the leading man
* * *
It was the summer between my first and second year of drama school. The last month of the semester had been crazy, as I had begun filming for my first real big acting job. It was a film with Hugh Grant in the lead. Yes, Hugh Grant! I hadn’t been able to muster up a single word to say to him for the first two weeks on set. I had kept on walking in the opposite direction and avoiding eye contact for the first few days. Some of the first words I said to him I believe were when we had a conversation on screen as our characters. Truth was I had had a huge crush on his younger self half my life.
“Is that so?” Hugh laughed and leaned back in his chair. He crossed his arms and looked up at the ceiling with an amused smile. The confession about my crush had just poured out of me. Once we had, at last, gotten to talking as ourselves I had found myself rambling on for minutes on end. I was terrified of the silence that might’ve appeared between us had I not had anything interesting to say, and he might’ve gotten bored and left. Granted, I wasn't sure how interesting my last few spiels had been.
“And not now?” he joked, looking down again and glancing at me from under his brows. I took a sharp breath in and tried to think of a witty answer.
“Relax,” he chuckled, noticing I was trying hard to appease him. So long as we’re being honest, I definitely still found him attractive. His bright blue eyes in contrast to his tan and freckled skin. The varying shades of grey in his hair, which I was grateful he had grown out a few inches for the role. The prominent veins residing on the backs of his hands at all times.
“So then you’ve shagged a whole lot of awkward blokes with weird hair and a funny walk probably, eh?” he continued joking and took a sip of his coffee. We were in a corner on set, where we had sat with our coffees for the past half hour. I had learned quickly that being an actor meant you had to do a lot of waiting around.
“Surely those fools are begging at your feet,” Hugh added and extended his whole arm at me. Panic washed over me. He had just complimented me massively and also assumed I had been with a great deal of guys. I could’ve easily laughed it off. Why couldn’t I have laughed it off?
“Not so much blokes as bloke.”
“Oh, long time boyfriend?”
Yes. Lie!
“No. One night stand.”
Hugh smiled gently.
“So, you’re single.”
I was surprised that was what he took away from our conversation, and that was what he chose to emphasise. I chuckled nervously and nodded, crossing my legs and sitting up straighter in my chair. Hugh was quiet for a minute, looking around the room, deep in thought with a little smile on his lips. I was sweating.
“He must not have been that good, your bloke. If you didn't come back for seconds.. And you swore off guys after him.”
“He wasn’t great,” I laughed, still telling the truth. Hugh took another scan of the room and then he looked down in his coffee cup. It looked tiny in his large hand.
“We’re not all like him, you know. There are a few of us who are quite decent in bed.” He made a face that I thought should have been accompanied by a wink but it wasn’t. “Even us awkward boys with funny hair.”
“I really loved your hair! Honest.”
“You’re sweet.”
He smiled softly still.
“How old are you?”
Lie! It’s not that hard.
“Twenty… one.”
I was turning twenty-two in a month. He noticed I was in agony telling him my age.
“You’re a baby! When you’re pushing sixty you can start making that face.”
He pointed at me and my grimacing face again and I laughed.
“I know. I don’t think I’m old… necessarily. I just think I’m… I haven’t done anything, it feels like.”
A serious conversation was blossoming between us and Hugh looked at me with his head slightly tilted, his lip caught between his teeth. He thought for a second.
“Do you mean in the area of that singular bloke with the hair?”
“His hair wasn’t that weird,” I laughed quietly as a quick chime-in, and he made a quick face in response, and then I answered his question. “But yes. That’s a big thing.”
“Well,” he took a deep breath and looked away from our kind of intense eye contact. “You’re gonna hate me for saying this and you won’t believe me, but really it’s not that big of a deal. Firstly, it really doesn’t matter how many people you’ve slept with. You don’t have to do–”
“But I want to!” I cut him off, leaning forward in my seat now. Maybe it was the ninth hour on set which was sending me into delirium, or the apparent chemistry we had, but I was suddenly gushing about how badly I wanted to have sex to Hugh Grant. “I want passion and lust and drama! I want sex.”
“Of course you do, you’re an actor.”
I laughed in the middle of a sigh.
“You wouldn’t let me finish, though… Secondly, it’s just about finding a person you’re comfortable enough with and you can experiment all you want. It’s quite fun.” He shrugged, sipping his coffee again.
“Finding the person is the impossible bit,” I stated with my chin in my palm, as the visual representation of a sigh. Hugh pressed his lips together into a thin line for a moment, staring at me intently. There looked to be many thoughts whirring around in his brain. There was some sort of a vibe building between us. All this time I had had so many things to say to him but now my mind was blank. Was the sexual tension only in my head?
“I guess you’re right,” he nodded and looked away, licking the inside of his cheek.
One man from the production crew came out to our spot and told Hugh that he had a scene to shoot in five minutes. He finished the last bit of his coffee in one swig and I took a mental snapshot of his neck as he bent his head all the way back for a second.
“I’ll pray for that right person to find you,” he pointed at me as he began walking away. “Funny hair or not!”
It wasn’t until he was out of sight that I recognised the big stupid smile on my lips and the heat in my cheeks.

What are your feelings about 92sies overall as a piece of cinematic art?
I need to start this off by saying: I absolutely love this movie I have watched it countless times and it is one of my favorites
That being said. Waaay back in 2017 (18 maybe?) when I first watched 92sies I did not like it. In fact! I didn’t even watch the whole thing before giving up. I since have grown and matured to fully realize the cinematic genius that is Newsies (1992)
I understand why is wasn’t a box office hit but also IT SHOULDVE BEEN A BOX OFFICE HIT I LOVE LITTLE BABY 92SIES 🫶🫶🫶
Looking at it through an actual like cinematic lens the plot is kind of all over the place, Sarah and Jack’s romance is completely random, as is the whole Francis Sullivan/Jack Kelly thing (I get it but for the overall plot it’s just A Lot). On top of all that the singing is bad! It just is! Disney easily could’ve hired voice actors to sing for the kids but they didn’t (and I personally love this decision even if big audiences don’t) it adds way more character to the songs I think and makes it way more convincing that this rag tag gang of ragamuffins are the ones doing the singing. They weren’t supposed to be great mighty heros that were amazing at everything, they were supposed to be a bunch of poor kids standing up for themselves!!!! I love it so much although I know that’s not the general consensus of folks outside of the fandom
It was the perfect movie to become a cult classic (which is has) and that doesn’t always mean it’s gonna be a good movie it just means that the people who get it get it and those who don’t don’t
Also Kenny Ortega obviously put a little 💅🏼🏳️‍🌈in it for us which I greatly appreciate
Objectively I can see why it’s a bad movie, subjectively it’s the best movie that’s ever been created
Anyway I love 92sies with my entire heart and soul thank u for the ask <33333

Alright Mutant Mayhem post, I just got back from the movies so these takes are are all of my first un unfiltered thoughts
SPOILERS AHEAD
First off the animation style : Absolutely Amazing,
Very claymation like, and although I see the comparison to Spiderverse, I think it’s completely unique,
If anything it reminds me of The Mitchell’s Vs The Machines
Next the cast : Absolutely Amazing
The way the characters had so much energy and just bounced off of each other. The kids that voiced the turtles really did great, everything they said felt very natural, and like teenagers actually talk. It was A LOT of pop culture references, but while a little cringey, none of them felt forced.
I absolutely LOVED this version of April and she’s currently fighting IDW April for the “best april” spot in my head. Again Ayo did a great job and I can’t imagine anyone else in the role. A fresh take while still being true to the character
And of course Splinter carried the movie. Jackie Chan was incredible as always, and this is splinter is truly the best dad. He was really just looking out for his sons, and doing anything and everything he could to make them both safe and happy.
I’m never going to get over Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko
And Natasia Demetriou was perfect (hearing her definitely through me off guard though, just cause I’m a wwdits fan, and I though her being the bat was very silly)
Overall thoughts :
If anything I found myself a bit distracted through the movie. Getting caught up comparing things to the TMNT I already know. Learning to accept that while, similar this one’s different, a new take on a beloved series.
I wasn’t comparing it as “worse or better” but seeing the similarities to certain comic issues and runs, and assuming that I knew what was going to happen based off of those. Super fly is just like Hob, Cynthia Utrom is Bishop, ect.
And while those comparisons are both interesting and fun, I was getting too into it, and overlooking what THIS movie was trying to do and say (which is a problem that I think a lot of comics fans run into)
OK critiques : I tend to be nit-picky but I only have a few this time
The Mutanimals,,,, (that what I’m calling them here y’know who I mean) their were ALOT OF THEM and I feel like they all weren’t utilized in the film, and used to cast stars who would only have a couple lines, and probably sell more toys (which, let’s be honest, is the biggest reason TMNT exists now)
Bebop and Rocksteady didn’t really do anything, I swear Leatherhead had two lines, I completely forgot about Ghengis Frog, Rey Fillet was literally just Post, and the only ones who felt like real characters were Mondo Gecko and Wingnut (and I might be bias cause I love them) and slug lady???
The way they almost immediately turned on superfly, their older brother, who was clearly like a father to them, with no hesitation?? One second their down for mass murder, and the next their helping the turtles???
Their actors and designs were cool, but the movie was only 1:35 or something, I feel like a bit more character development for them could’ve been put in
The timeline? Also a bit confusing, and implies that every mutant other than Splinter, Slug Lady, and Superfly is 15. Which I don’t think is true.
But all of the Mutanimals were shows to be babies/toddlers in the 15 year flashback?? And they all seemed like infants in Stockmans lab (other than superfly whose a couple years older) and older slug lady would’ve been tiny anyway
But I just got a little confused
And lastly the ENDING :
I really didn’t think they’d actually make it to highschool!! This is honesty super interesting and opens up the story for a lot of new plots and takes, doing things that the turtles could never do in previous iterations. It makes me very excited for what could come next for them
Their in the real world
People know them
They could have actual futures
(I’m very curious to how taxes and stuff work for splinter now, but I doubt it’ll ever get into that)
AND THE SHREDDER TEASE
Very hyped for what’s coming next, left the theater ranting to my sister about how I hope Karai will be in the next one too.
And with the backstory loosing that tie to the Foot, I’m really wondering how things will go down
And worried for how underprepared they are for someone like shredder

Finally watching my Blu-Ray for Underwater (2020) and...
Tumblr media
(1) A while back I came across multiple Reddit threads trying to figure out where Gunner Wright (Isaac Clarke, Dead Space), Will Eubank's friend, made an appearance in the film as a character he played in Eubank's 2011 film, Love. Folk made it seem like this was the hardest Easter egg to find in the film because no one could spot him.
Listening to the Audio Commentary, however, Eubank mentions that Wright is one of the two drill workers who don't reach the bulkhead before Norah (KStew) closes it. Wright is also the commercial voice at the end of the film greeting Norah, Emily, and Smith when they enter the main hall of the Roebuck ("Welcome to the Roebuck!"). IDK, it helps to buy movies instead of just streaming them if you want more information.
(2) One of the deleted scenes reveals that the helmet that Rodrigo (the token Black guy) had a huge hole in the corner of the protective glass. The final scene just shows him staring at the helmet forlornly then giving Norah one of the undamaged helmets. I feel like they removed that scene purely because the hole creates more questions than answers (specifically, how did Rodrigo's suit not get flooded). But, they also could've just rewritten his death if they really wanted him to be the first to die. Like, dude could've just stayed behind, but, eh. Shock and awe.
(3) In at least one version of Rodrigo's death, he says a "hail Mary, full of grace" prayer before his suit implodes and he dies.
(4) In the same scene Capt. Lucien reveals he thinks all of his crew is pretty much fucked. Smith asks him, "What are we looking at captain?" When he sees Lucien studying a map. Lucien says, "We're dead" and pats him on the back. Smith and Co. don't know French, which is why he says it that way.
(5) Eubank suggests, that if people wanted to, they could read into the idea that Capt. Lucien kind've went mad when he (and his old crew) was working on Shepherd Station after his daughter died. Just based on the Cthulhu references on the map in his old locker.
(6) For whatever reason, they did a lot of shooting with a real rabbit (they named "Little Paul"), then replaced it with a stuffed rabbit just to change how the actors would interact with it.
(7) The scene immediately after Rodrigo's death apparently contains a moment where Cthulhu (or "the behemoth") is nearby watching Norah right before she jumps onto the elevator. Effectively, this suggests the "deep ones" (or "the clingers") that constantly attack them are never far from where Cthulhu is and that it's stalking them throughout the film.
(8) Smith and Emily being the only reported survivors at the end of the film means none of the twenty or more evacuation pods that Capt. Lucien sent out at the start of the film made it to the surface.
(9) the majority of the film was filmed on practical sets (akin to Pacific Rim) and said sets were built on gimbals inside of an abandoned LOWES building in New Orleans.
(10) Love, The Signal, and Underwater might all take place in the same universe because of the appearance of Gunner Wright playing the same character (Capt. Lee Miller) from Love.

Dune Part 2: Initial Thoughts.
Watched Dune Part two and I hate to be a contrarian, but it was just OK to me. Below is my non-spoiler take on the movie. Please excuse any grammatical errors, I'm just jotting down my thoughts.
Let's start with the positive! Here's What I enjoyed:
Cinematography and technical aspects.
We live in a world where bad and downright comical CGI has somehow become the norm. Dune circumvents this with a combination of beautiful practical scenery and effects and technical mastery that I don't think I've seen since the Pirates of the Carribean. It allowed me to be fully immersed in the world, and I truly appreciated that.
The performances of Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, and Austin Butler.
While I don't think anyone turned in an Oscar worthy performance, I do think that these 4 did really well with the material they were given. Zendaya gave a performance that was both nuanced and in moments quite fierce. Chani’s love, skepticism, and anger were all portrayed wonderfully. I absolutely loved the fluency in which she spoke the Freman language and the chemistry she had with Souheila Yacoub. With that being said, I have some notes lol. Some of the lines were both written and delivered awkwardly, her signature “scowl” became repetitive, and her eyes tended to be kind of dead in some emotional moments. But, I think that with more roles/experience under her belt, Z can become quite the force if she wants to be. Overall, I really enjoyed her performance.
Rebecca played a very believable momma bear and puppet master. She is, in my opinion, an underrated actor. There was never a moment where her performance left me wanting more.
Javier brought effortless humor to this film. Although I will say, the humor combined with the weird pacing made the religious zealot aspect of his character less believable. It kind of felt like when we got to those parts, he was still joking.
Austin plays a psychopath really well! No notes lol.
And now, what I didn't enjoy:
Timothee Chalamet
I know this is a very unpopular opinion, and I’ve TRIED to understand the hype, but I just…don’t. With that being said, he was good when it came to playing the “boy” Paul Atreides, but when it came time to be a fierce leader/Messiah, nothing about his portrayal was believable. Everytime he yelled or raised his voice, it completely took me out of the movie, almost to the point of laughing. Also, jumping from Zendaya, Javier Bardem, and Souheila Yacoub speaking the Freman language to Timothee speaking it, was jarring to say the least. Overall, it was an ok performance, but I feel he gets a TON of grace because of CMBYN. And I’ll leave it there.
The Pacing
It was rough, I can’t lie. One second, you're in a fast-paced action sequence, and then the next thing you know, the movie grinds to a halt via jump cut to a different, seemingly unrelated, scene where everybody is whispering.  Also, the quickness in which everyone, including the non-believers, rallied behind Paul contributed to the pacing issue. Everything either happened too fast or too slow and it never really found a balance. This movie jumps around a lot and sometimes it’s sloppily done and confusing.I know that there is a lot that has to be fit into these movies, but I feel like this aspect could’ve been handled better. Ultimately, I think it’s why the movie ended up feeling really long and sometimes repetitive to me.
Lack of Explanations
For starters, I don't like it when movies spoon feed you. BUT, in cases like Dune, where there’s a ton of pre-existing lore, I think it’s necessary to offer some explanation for the audience members who haven’t read the book. Introducing certain themes and items without any explanation whatsoever, will leave a lot of moviegoers confused and feeling like there may be a plot hole. For example, Chani’s blue scarf. If you haven’t read the book, you will have absolutely no idea why it suddenly appears halfway through the movie. You can make guesses based on prior scenes, but you’ll probably be wrong because the real reason is never introduced in the movie.
Overall, it was a decent experience. But to be honest, I don’t think it being placed in the same category as great sequels, such as the Dark knight, is warranted. I think this movie is getting a ton of grace simply because of the names attached to it and the general lack of well made action movies. It’s in the right place at the right time.
Well, that’s it for now. Hope you enjoyed the read!

since you said to send some questions i would like to know your opinion on adam warlock and his relationship with the guardians? (comic or game or mcu wise) but overall your opinion on adam ♥
happy to talk about adam!!! i love him!!! i think (and i’m not the first person to say this recently but it’s worth repeating) that some people take him VERY seriously which is a mistake because he’s just so goddamn weird. he’s a weird philosophical space wizard guy. glam rock space jesus as it were. taking him as the Serious Character is a disservice.
in terms of his relationship with the guardians, i wish more was done with it! outside of annihilation: conquest and gotg2008 he’s just been kind of…. floating around? a huge deal was made about his return in the duggan run but then nothing really happened with it. would’ve loved to have seen him show up in ewing’s run (he did everyone else well, i think he would’ve done adam justice too!) but that run was also pretty overcrowded already.
in terms of what we do get: his friendship with phyla in a:c was very sweet, and i wish it hadn’t lost significance as 2008 went on. her believing she could bring adam back leading to her death is genuinely so very sad
his relationship with gamora is fantastic, obviously they have so much history already and have been part of a team together before (read the infinity watch!!!), and i love that their closeness is shown by her sticking with him throughout the run. also her comments that she used to find his comments “annoying” but now they’re “weirdly hot”. she speaks for us all i think 🫡
he and peter are a both strong leaders and butt heads a lot, i enjoy that immensely. peter has a manipulative streak and will make decisions for everyone without consultation so i like that adam will stand up to him and hasn’t got time for his bullshit facade while still respecting him. they have different ideas on how to handle situations and although adam can be a bit of a loose canon in terms of following instructions (i mean that goes for everyone really but adam has no qualms about arguing and storming off when he doesn’t like the answer he’s given) they both ultimately want what is best for the group and the galaxy. they’re literally the team parents. also whatever the fuck this was.
Tumblr media
<3
gotg2008 was my first experience with adam so him turning into magus was such a twist for me the first time i read it and i remember clearly how upset I was when he had to be killed. one of the most incredibly memorable gotg moments for sure.
in terms of his adaptations, i liked both of them! mcu adam was fun and was very reminiscent of his early comics. they did tone him down, i guess to not go full on cosmic entity space guy straightaway. i do think he should have been introduced earlier because i don’t understand how you can have any plan for him not involving thanos and the infinity gems but it is what it is. i also just like will poulter as an actor anyways so i was happy with his casting, i think he can do drama and comedy really well (and Adam is so WEIRD it needs to be FUNNY sometimes ok???). loved it when he tried to join in on the group hug at the end. i’m not really planning on watching any more mcu so good luck to them i guess. i wish he could’ve interacted and built relationships with the team more but him fucking them up was funny (sorry rocket) and him dancing to rocket’s music at the end was cute.
i LOVED game adam. i loved that the entire game ultimately ended up being about him and the magus and the church and I loved that they dialled up his hamminess to eleven. it was genuinely hilarious to me i want to send a gift basket to the guy who decided he should talk in alliteration. i loved that he stole peter’s bedroom, and was also a loose canon and fucked off and did his own thing. he was just so memorable and ridiculous i couldn’t not like him. they really did the opposite of the mcu and leant right into the batshit cosmic entity thing. AND he had a huge bum <3

book 5 thoughts (specifically on vil)
i haven’t done a post like this since, well, since i first created this blog (with how to fix book 2 because let’s be real, book 2 is one big of a mess). and as someone who loves vil, book 5 gives us a lot more insight than i think people may originally think.
i’m basically just rambling here.
spoilers for book 5 if you haven’t already read any translations or played
the most interesting thing to me in this book is the fact that we get to see a different side to vil, obviously. i have my critiques of book 5 (for example, epel’s arc could’ve been handled a lot better) but these are some of my thoughts for the most part.
has anyone actually considered just how powerful vil is? this man managed to darken the whole sky and make it start RAINING when it was completely sunny and clear. truly terrifying.
but all jokes aside.
i strangely sympathize with him.
maybe it’s because i currently feel the way he feels, the way that there’s no way to win. he doesn’t feel like there’s a way to win because he’s typecasted.
typecasting is the worst. it really is.
on top of that, vil being seen as mean even as a child? that he looks mean? looks intimidating?
being mean and evil is usually associated with ugliness (which of course is usually where bigotry hides itself). we only get one line really where vil says he looks ugly. there’s so much potential in that line in the way that the public perception of vil as a “villain” has caused him to grow immensely insecure in himself.
he’s been pushed by people to be the “villain.” and his lapse of judgement in attempting to poison neige is him finally “accepting” the role of the villain. he’ll never be the hero. so why try again when all he does is keep failing?
what’s even more funny is how people said neige had a “relatable” charm about him and vil didn’t. as if neige isn’t also as beautiful as vil.
there are glimpses into vil’s insecurity and i wish book 5 expanded upon these moments.
there’s also the interesting idea of fandom in play which we see in his overblot vignette. the kids mistake his performance as real and thus ostracize him for it. so it plays into the fact that all people see with vil is that he’s “evil,” “mean,” and “villainous.” it’s very reminiscent of how people attack celebrities for playing certain characters even though the character obviously doesn’t reflect the actor.
as a non-white woman, vil kind of hits hard for me even if he’s supposed to be a white man. non-white women are always typecasted and stereotyped. i completely understand his frustration. and imo, his anger is totally justified.
for example, him getting angry at his manager for managing to snatch another villain role. he just really wants 1 thing and he can’t even get it. there’s just no way for him to win.
fandom culture and society have really let him down.
they’re not the cause of vil trying to poison neige, obviously. but it’s kind of clear that fandom culture and society have pushed him to the breaking point.
on top of that, i wouldn’t be surprised if the whole rivalry with neige originally didn’t start as a rivalry. it’s clear it’s a one sided rivalry with vil viewing neige as his rival while neige views vil as a peer/companion. but what would push vil into feeling resentment and rivalry is probably the fandom culture. i don’t doubt fans would probably start a “team neige” and “team vil” thing. there are probably fan wars between their fans going on.
there’s a high chance vil probably read a lot of fan comments, comments that bashed him and ridiculed him for being mean, for acting “cold” to his fans sometimes, for being so villainous, for always playing the villain. he stopped after a while but they were burned into his mind. and eventually, he started to resent neige because who was the cause of everything? neige. who gets the hero roles? neige. who is labelled the more “relatable” celebrity even when he actually isn’t? neige.
nothing is neige’s fault. but to vil, it most certainly looks like it is.
there is a lot for vil to work on obviously. and i would hope after book 7 (and even after grim’s overblot which has been theorized) that we get to explore rsa and see more neige. see his side of things. and on top of that, see vil move beyond his resentment of neige and even apologize.
and we’re not even going to get into the possible details of vil’s upbringing and what effect that may have caused.
we also don’t know much about vil’s upbringing.
but i’m assuming his father took a lot of villain roles which is why he gave kid vil the lecture about villains and how villain casting has a harsher casting criteria.
and if he took a lot of villain roles, that may have--actually, more than likely--affected how vil was seen growing up.
he’s an actor, the son of an actor famous for villain roles.
it runs in their blood!! it’s only natural that his son gets casted in villain roles!
okay anyways these are my full thoughts. i love vil and i love the depth he’s been given. but there’s a lot more that i wish to see. and you know what? he even apologized after his overblot. Colin & Jared hot takes: They could’ve actually met in Dublin in 1995.
There’s this funny synchronicity: Jared, at 23, is staying in Colin’s hometown for "two or three months" shooting his first ever movie with a leading role in which he pretended to be a 17-year-old black-haired Irish boy in the 1970ies.
Colin, at 19, was that kind of boy in real life in the 90ies. Like Jared's character he was also kind of in-between phases, not sure which way to go, but already contemplating acting. After dropping out of secondary school prematurely (according to himself), he'd been in Australia for a while in 1994. Back home again he jobbed as a model (e.g. on an Irish daytime TV show wearing a red thong and not much else), waited tables and took a lot of ecstasy (according to himself). This was before he listened to his brother Eamon and tried his luck at the Gaiety drama school in '96.
Jared was in town shooting his very first movie "The Last of the High Kings" which is an adaptation of a coming of age novel by Irish writer Ferdia MacAnna. Miramax produced. Gabriel Byrne, Stephen Rea, Colm Meaney were in this, too, all established Irish actors. And Jordan Catalano from "My So-Called Life", who was neither established nor Irish, but very hot news! According to a post by the Irish Film Institute, people do remember this well. They tried to get hired as extras.
Would Colin and his three older siblings, those upper middle class kids who were all into performing arts (and who all found their destination there eventually) have missed this? Their uncle being an established musical actor in London, Eamon the director of an arts school in Dublin, Catherine enrolled at the Gaiety acting school - wouldn't they have known about it too, maybe try to nab a job in this?
Fun fact: the exam scene was shot in Castleknock college, a private school that Colin went to for several years (and was kicked off)

Who else does remember the summer of 1995?
Jared does. Unusually expressive when reminded of it. Over the years he’s said these things…
But a big part about music is getting out and sharing it with people, and we’re very much a live band, so it’s important for us to be on the road. We’re psyched to be able to come back to Dublin, which is a very close place to my heart too. The first time I was in Dublin was in 1995, so it’s been a long time. I talk with Irish people and I feel like I need to just shut up.

"The Last of the High Kings was my very first film. It was an Irish movie, and I played a young man from Howth. I've had a long love affair with Dublin, and to be able to come back and play a show with my band in the O2 recently meant a lot to me. It was a pretty amazing experience being in Ireland for the film in 1995, and coming back in 2010 was great."

He would get his first movie break in Ireland when he starred in the lead role of a young Dubliner experiencing a sexual awakening in the late 1970s. The Last Of The High Kings was based on the Ferdia MacAnna novel of the same name, and Leto remembers the movie with affection.
"I spent some great months in Dublin in the summer of 1996," he says. "It's such a beautiful city, so different to any place I'd been."
Few American actors can nail a contemporary Irish accent, but Leto managed it. "I'm getting a bit nostalgic just listening to your accent, man," he says. "I got really into the role and spoke with an Irish accent 24/7 while making that movie. Friends would call me from the US in the middle of the night and wake me up and they'd think they'd got the wrong person because I would speak like an Irish guy even when I'd just woken up and wasn't conscious of what accent I was speaking with." He's had to content himself with small parts in other fine films -- Fight Club and American Psycho, among them -- as well as the odd turkey. Oliver Stone's Alexander is often cited as the worst big-budget film of the decade, but Leto prefers to talk about the fun he had with Colin Farrell.
"I don't know if you've spent any time in Colin's company, but that guy is just so amazing. His zest for life is infectious. I consider him to be a good friend and hopefully if he's in Dublin when we're there, we'll get to hang out."

... it's still a theme in 2022 ...
While world-famous now, Leto’s first leading role in a movie was Irish film Last of the High Kings, which was shot in and around Howth in Dublin in the mid-90s. His face lit up as he recalled his first experience making a movie in the Irish capital, which is now a hub for international productions.
“That was my very first movie that I’d starred in. And of course, Dublin was a very different town. ”But even before we all had the internet, there seemed to be unfounded rumours of celebrity deaths. There was a rumour, I guess, it was reported on the news that I had died. So people would come up to me on the street and be like ‘I thought you were dead’.
“And I’d be like, 'Oh my god, that’s hilarious, but no not yet'. That was bizarre, that happened all the time filming,” he recalled which much laughter. “Then when the movie came out I was mentioned on the news, I believe, as an ‘upcoming Irish actor'." Leto, who has since performed here multiple times when touring with his band, clearly has very fond memories of the film, which co-starred Gabriel Byrne.
“It was a beautiful experience, it changed my life," he said. "I love the country, any time I see someone from Ireland I have a warm feeling, I feel like family. It’s a great place, a very special place, I miss it."
