Is Dylan really Kieran? A Theory Dissection:

So I’ve taken the time to process everything that’s happened in the amazing season finale of Purple Hyacinth because I didn’t want to rush into posting about it and I really wanted to let my thoughts about it simmer for a bit. I also decided to reread the entire season over the course of a couple days to get the best idea of how it worked as a whole. Once again if you haven’t read this yet please do yourself a favour and check it out it’s really phenomenal.

I’ll probably make a few posts about PH over the next couple weeks as we wait for season 2. However I won’t post an analysis of the finale mainly because Lanxyuu already did an amazing job of that already. Check it out if you’ve got the time, it’s 10000 words of pure analytical gold. Writing about any of that would be redundant. That being said the first thing I’m gonna talk about is the whole ‘Is Kieran actually Dylan’ theory that’s the new hot thing in the fandom, mainly because I’ve received a lot of requests to discuss it and also because I feel like I can add my own points to the debate.

So let’s just get it out of the way: do I think Kieran is Dylan? As of right now the answer is no. I just don’t think we have enough evidence to prove it, and what’s there is more circumstantial. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy theorizing about it. I’ve found that discussing and sharing theories and ideas is one of my favourite ways to interact with a fandom. So I’m gonna put all of the evidence that I’ve observed in the entire first season both in favour of and against this theory and show why I think we can’t say that Kieran is Dylan. I’m not telling you to not believe it. Believe what you want! Like I said it’s fun to do this. I’ve just been specifically asked my opinion and I want to be able to justify it through what I’ve seen in the comic itself.

So with all of that out of the way, let’s get started!

Evidence in favour of Kieran being Dylan:

One of the things I think most of us can agree on is that Dylan probably isn’t really dead. In general if I’m not shown a body, I don’t believe they’re dead. I’ve seen far too many movies and TV shows and have read far too many novels to be fooled by that. As of right now, in my head, Dylan is alive, or at least wasn’t killed in the bombing. So obviously if he isn’t dead then that frees him up to show up in the plot at some point or maybe he was there all along...?

This kind of ties into my next point: what happened to him then? His hat was found at the scene, so he must have lost it at some point before the explosion. This is all speculative, but he could have been snatched up by Tim and the driver in Lauren’s parents car. We heard Tim mention that children were in the car so it’s somewhat plausible that Dylan could have been kidnapped. Maybe he saw something suspicious and snooped around a bit which lead to him being snatched up or something. From there he’s tortured and broken and made into an assassin for the PS. Only he isn’t broken. He steels his resolve and does as he’s told because he’s now set on biding his time and getting revenge on those who robbed him of his life and humanity. It makes for a pretty compelling character arc.

The tragedy of his character arc could also be supplemented by the fact that when he was young, he wanted to be a doctor and save lives, but they made him into an assassin who takes lives. Brutally. Violently. Painfully. All of this would emphasize why he views himself as such a monster. The person he is now goes against everything the person he once was values. It’s this dichotomy that reinforces his ‘monster’ persona and allows him to justify this view of himself.

Another point is that this could explain why Kieran hesitated when he could have killed Lauren way back in episode 3. Of course he would hesitate to kill someone who was his close friend. Most of his murders were of people he either didn’t know or didn’t know very well. If he’d had a close friendship with her in childhood, it would obviously make him stop for a moment when he realizes who she is, just like he does in that episode. We even see Lauren say that if she knew why he hesitated then ‘everything would be different’. Obviously if she found out that he was her-long-lost-thought-to-be-dead friend, the person who symbolized her guilt for not stopping the bombing, the plot would be waaaaaay different. Just like the line about being the most blind of all in the prologue, the implications of this line are going to play a major role in the story, and this theory could explain that.

Then there’s those god damned purple hyacinths. Obviously Dylan’s knowledge of these flowers, both in their cultivation and meaning, are things that Kieran must know too. We pretty much know that they’re his signature for both their royal symbolism and their use in mourning, and that Kieran must have a stash of them growing somewhere. There’s also the fact that Lauren, who we know is very intelligent and well educated even at 12, doesn’t know the meaning of purple hyacinths other than their use as a symbol by the royal family. This tells me that their symbolism outshines their meaning in the traditional sense within the pop culture. Honestly, I didn’t even know the meanings of most flowers except for roses until I started reading this Webtoon. I’m not saying that people don’t know the meaning at all, I’m just saying it may not be common knowledge.

The final point I wanna talk about in favour of this theory is their appearances, since that will bleed nicely into the points against it for obvious reasons. So many people, myself included, have noticed that if you switch Dylan’s hair and eye colouring for Kieran’s, he’d basically look like little Kieran, and yes, I see it too. You could say that he could be dying his hair, it’s not crazy to believe hair dye exists in this world. How else does Belladonna have pink hair if they didn’t have access to dye? Unless it’s just stains from the blood of her victims… Actually that could be a theory lol but that’s not the point. Point is Kieran could theoretically have his hair dyed black, but it’s a bit of a stretch, as I explain in...

Evidence against Kieran being Dylan:

While he maaaaay be able to change his hair colour from light blond to black, there’s no way for him to change his eye colour from grey to blue. If rectangular glasses don’t even exist in this world yet (thank you Soph for this justification for why you gave him Harry Potter glasses), there’s no way that they’d have access to contact lenses yet. The other argument is that his eye colour changed with age but that feels a bit too... convenient for my taste. Odds are our boy Kieran is sporting the look he was born with. Additionally, with everything going on in his life and his priorities, when would he have the time to constntly maintain this look, and why would he feel the need to disguise himself in the first place? He already operates in the shadows of the night and none of the authorities, other than Lauren, were able to get close enough to describe his appearance. There would simply be no need for all of that extra disguising.

Speaking of his appearance, we’ve seen one of his victims recognize him before he murders them. He says something interesting: ‘You were that boy’. Now this whole thing is one of my favourite mysteries of the series, so you best believe I am jumping on this shit the second we get more info about it. But for now, I want to use it to show that this aristocrat, who were loyal to the crown and presumably hadn’t seen him in years, took one look at Kieran’s face and immediately recognized him from when he was a child. If this man knew he had these same features as a boy, then it’s safe to assume that he’s always looked like this. This also links him to the aristocracy, since there’s no reason why this man of high status in opposition the PS would know anything about him unless he knew him before he entered the PS. Dylan, on the other hand, was the son of a gardener. He was friends with Lauren sure, but he clearly was of a lower station in society than someone like Lauren or the other aristocratic families. It’s doubtful that he’d leave such an impression on this high society man.

On top of all of that, if he were really Dylan and this man really did see through his change in appearance, why wouldn’t Lauren see through it too? She was one of his best friends and thinks about him constantly. If this man was able to recognize him in a single moment but she still doesn’t recognize him after months, then odds are he just isn’t Dylan.

There’s also the fact that Kieran doesn’t lie when he tells Lauren his name. It’s the same name that people like Belladonna know him by and it’s the name he uses when he becomes the archivist in Lauren’s precinct. Like he said before: there’s no need for him to hide his identity. He’s protected by his reputation and the PS itself. I can see an argument where he could have ‘renounced’ his old name because the person he once was is dead and only the monster remains, which is again a cool theory , or you could say it’s to keep people from knowing that he’s actually alive. But there would be no real need for him to change his name. He could have two names just like the hyacinths have two meanings. I will say that this theory about ‘Kieran White’ not being his true name could also work in favour for him not being Dylan too as, if he was an aristocrat, the PS could have changed his name to hide him from his family as well, but that’s neither here nor there, just something to consider. For now we know that he really is Kieran White and there’s no evidence to disprove that (yet).

Finally, many of the points listed in favour of the theory; the motive, the character arc, the knowledge of flowers, it’s all circumstantial. For all we know, Kieran could be Dylan Rosenthal, or he could be some boy connected to the aristocracy or even the royal family. He could be Dylan Rosenthal, or he could be his own character with his own arc yet to be fully revealed who’s connected to Lauren somehow. The meaning of purple hyacinths could come from Dylan’s prior knowledge, or they could common knowledge and Kieran just bought ‘Gardening for Dummies’ or some shit to make sure he didn’t kill them. Any number of different things could really be at play that we simply don’t know yet. But we do know that a man recognized him at a glance while Lauren, Dylan’s best friend, didn’t recognize him whatsoever. We do know that there’s no proof that hair and especially eye colour can be changed in this world. We do know that we still have quite a ways to go in this story and that the answers aren’t what we expect.

Eph and Soph have done an amazing job of revealing the story to us in disjointed pieces so that when we finally get that one piece that fits, may of them fall into place too. How many of us realized it was her parents’ car in the picture before it was revealed in episode 49? Or thought that Harvey was a spy all along? I don’t think we know nearly enough about him to prove he’s Dylan, but what we do have at this moment is enough to disprove it. What we have now is primarily speculation versus hard physical evidence. We need to accept that we don’t have all the pieces to the puzzle yet and that we’ll only receive new ones little by little.

So, until we learn more about Kieran’s past or until we see ‘changing-eye-colour’ join ‘lie-detecting’ as a new supernatural ability, I’m afraid that I can’t fully get behind this theory. Again, this doesn’t mean I’m telling you not to believe it. Thinking about all the implications of Kieran being Dylan is a lot of fun, just like thinking about Kieran’s backstory and motives is fun. And I could be wrong about all of this, who knows? Writing this just got me really excited to see where his arc will lead us and even more excited for season 2!

Fun Jade/Rose Facts (Well... facts.)

Note: These facts are divided between “In-Comic” (Everything from Page 1 of Homestuck (A young man stands in his bedroom...) to page 8128 (The End) and “The Credits” (Pages 8129-8130). If I update this after the Epilogue, we’ll... cross that bridge when we get there.

In-Comic Jade/Rose Facts

Jade and Rose have only five conversations in the entire comic.

Conversation #4 is repeated. We see it first from Jade’s POV, then from Rose’s.

The number of conversations goes up to six if you count GrimBark Jade saying “Bark” and “Hey guys long time no see” to the assembled group in Act 6 Intermission 5 - but since Rose says nothing back, I am not counting this as a conversation.

You may do so if you wish.

After removing dialogue tags (like “TT”) and Pesterlog archival data (“ceased pestering” etc), their shortest conversation is their fourth at 80 words long.

Their longest one-on-one conversation is their third at 571 words long.

Their longest conversation is their fifth. It features Doc Scratch, and runs some 1,170 words long.

All told, about 2,711 words are exchanged in one-another’s chat windows. Discounting Doc Scratch’s intrusion into their final conversation, they speak 2324 words to one-another.

When all the kids are lifting the bride and bride up on chairs as part of the “thing done during the horah that isn’t actually part of the horah guess who just did a deep dive into the history of the horah did you know it’s from Greece via Romania and only dates back to 1930 as a traditional pan-Jewish custom it’s kind of like clan tartans in that it’s a cultural touchstone that feels ancient but isn’t” she’s... absent. Jake is in the picture twice once at the top, once in trickster mode on the bottom. Jade Harley: had better things to do than go to Rose’s wedding?

Jade and Rose are the only two kids to never be shown with Trickster modes.

This following photograph is the only conversation Rose and Jade ever have in-person in all the Homestuck franchise. It is their only moment of contact after Act 5 Act 2. We have no demonstrative way of proving that they ever conversed in-person before John’s 18th birthday party on Earth-C:

You missed interaction [Caliborn’s Master Plan]! Can I -? You may not. This seems elaborate and kind of pointless - why would you do this? Because Jade/Rose is a ship and talking about the Jade/Rose friendship is a thing and I... uh... I didn’t get it. But now having done all this work I... ... I still don’t get it. I always questioned Jade/Rose because I said to myself “they don’t really interact much,” and now that I’ve sat down and run the numbers they really don’t interact much. Now if you’re wondering “did you run though every single conversation looking for the times Jade mentioned Rose or Rose mentioned Jade” the answer would be “ha ha ha that would be crazy of course I did.” I am very tired. And... they don’t talk about each-other much. I mean ‘actually’ talk - I’m not counting all the “hey do you know what Rose/Jade is doing” questions asked between the kids or the trolls (though there’s not that many, really) - I’m talking about actual conversations, like when John talks about how he feels about having to marry Rose according to the Shipping Chart or Karkat mutters that Jade maybe kind of meant something to him once. Jade has this to say about Rose - talking to, of all people, Eridan: GG: rose? GG: i do not have a score to settle with rose!!! GG: why would you think that? CA: oh CA: wwell fuck CA: suppose i wwas guessin it wwas natural to presume somesuch relation like that betwween the twwo a you GG: i think you are projecting your own attitude on to others GG: just because you tend to hate and/or hit on everyone you meet doesnt mean everyone else is that way GG: rose just sent me a code for a crystal ball, shes my friend and is basically the best! It’s a very Harleybert sentiment. And sadly it doesn’t add up to anything. At the very least, Rose doesn’t think that much about Jade. Take it from me: a guy who literally went through every conversation Rose and Jade ever had with and about each other: Rose doesn’t think much about Jade. When Jade shows up sleeping at the end of act six lots of people talk about her: Rose’s only comment is to make a crack about Jade ending end-game ships when she wakes up, and also to note that there was Bird Dave and Dog Jade and Cat Rose but No [Animal] Egbert. That’s it. The most Rose ever has to say is the “she has the karma” conversation all the way back in Act 3 - and it’s still really about Dave. When GrimbarkJade shows up on LOLAR... Rose makes no comment whatsoever. Jade does not take the time to go see Rose when she wakes up in the ret-con timeline. Jade discusses Rose with John only in the context of John and his shipping chart destiny. Rose never seems to have anything to say about Jade to Dave or John. If these kids had had a normal sibling existence in the same high school and John had been hit by a car Jade would have remained friends with Dave but she and Rose would be revealed to not be all that close - their common point of friendship is John, not one-another. Rose talks about so much shit - but not about Jade. Jade might say Rose is “the best” but it’s Harley hyperbole more than anything: she didn’t even get Rose a birthday present because she says Rose is hard to shop for! Rose LaLonde is hard to shop for? What?

There. It’s an Emily the Strange t-shirt with Charles Dutton’s head. it took me ten seconds to come up with it you are welcome Jade. You want to ship Rose/Jade? Fuck yeah, man - go for it! You want to write an eighty thousand word fan-fiction on Rose and Jade: BFF Treasure Hunter Essayists? Sounds fucking rad please write that. You want to say that, canonically, Jade and Rose are great friends? I’m going to have to disagree. Homestuck is a story about four friends - it is not a story about four equally friendly friends. Maybe it was meant to be: not going to lie, I like Act 6 and the ending of Homestuck a lot but even I concede that Jade gets shafted in the “having shit to do” department - the fact that she sits out the big Giant Talky Session at the end of the comic? Weird as shit. If she was up and awake and had any kind of conversation with Rose where they seemed friendly and in-touch I would change my opinion in a heartbeat: I’m not some crank who hates Jade and Rose being best of friends because I’m a weirdo. I mean I am a weirdo but for other reasons, not this. No, I just don’t agree with the idea because it’s not supported by the text. Five conversations in seven acts? Less than 3,000 words exchanged in a document running into the hundred of thousands - and some of that repeat, and some of that the words of a giant cueball tool? If Andrew Hussie wanted us to believe that Jade Harley and Rose LaLonde are particularly close friends, he put no sign of that into the text. If I missed something please - tell me. Argue it with me, even, if you disagree with my assessment - or my math.I am not great at math. Regardless - reach out. We should talk about this more. My Experience Being Ace

I have wanted to make this post for a while, but since my fuck ton of emotions are making me sick to my stomach I decided I would do this tonight. If this helps anyone who has been through similar struggles it will have been worth sharing. I want to say right now that this isn’t the best story, there are a lot of triggering things, and I will put them in the tags, so if you want to know what I have been through after figuring out my identity feel free to click the “Read More” after looking at the triggers in the tags

I figured out I was asexual when I was thirteen. When I was 11 I started wondering if something was wrong with me. When my friends hit puberty they started telling me all this stuff about sex and how they couldn’t wait to have it and I was like..... “Haha me too! Definitely, but um how would I know that’s what I am feeling?” It was bad. I really thought something was wrong and I didn’t want to tell my parents and I didn’t want to deal with not being normal. Then, I found the word ‘asexual’ and I was like... this is me. I didn’t feel so alone. It was amazing, until I wanted to tell people about it.

I was thirteen at this point, and I thought I knew everything about myself. I was a biromantic asexual and I had a community I belonged too. I was figuring out my gender and it was great. So I wanted to talk to my mom about because of course I did. I told her I was bi, and she was like alright sure if that makes you happy. Then I told her I was asexual and she got so mad. She insisted I didn’t need any labels, that I didn’t know anything yet. Everything was just a phase and I needed to stop saying that. All because I was asexual. She did not care that I thought I was bi, she cared because she thought I didn’t want sex. At 13, that was my mom’s biggest concern with me.

My parents call me a prude, despite knowing it bugs me. Despite me telling my mom is was disgusting for her to keep insisting that’s all it was. That’s also when I found all the hate against asexuals online. It was so hard to read it, but a huge part of me felt like I had to, and then one of my friends decided to tell me that the only valid part of my orientation were the ones they thought were “oppressed enough.” My friend dropped me, and a lot of others in our friend group, because I wouldn’t agree that asexuals were basically straight.

I have had romantic relationships end because my partners, after figuring out I wouldn’t change the fact I don’t desire sex, give up on everything else surrounding our relationship. I think three of the most impactful times this has happened need to be shared, but they were definitely not healthy situations for me to be in and when reading any more you will find the most triggering parts of my story.

The first was when I was about 13 and just figuring myself out. I was dating this guy named Gabe and it was great! He was a football player! He liked my body more than my personality and that’s what he told all his friends! We were about to go to highschool, and he was telling me about how we were going to have sex by the end of the school year. I told him no, we weren’t and he wanted to know why I said that when I should care about him like that. I reiterated that I was asexual and so he went to my friends who agreed with him. I was just being selfish, how could I expect to be in a relationship with someone when I wouldn’t have sex with them?

The second time was at the summer of my sophomore and beginning of my junior year with this girl named Tiffany who I dated on and off for a bit. She was a year above me and just so small and cute and I really cared about her. I spent hours learning how to play our song on the clarinet for her. Then she cheated on me, and asked me how could I be mad when she needed to have sex with someone. I was making her feel undesirable. My sexuality was hurting her. I ended things with her for good at the beginning of my Junior year.

The third time actually happened in between me and Tiffany seeing each other. I got really serious with this boy who I don’t want to name, but will call D for now. We dated right up till April of my sophomore year so it was in total 9 months. He had been my shoulder to cry on when me and Tiffany broke up and he was the best. He told me he wanted to have sex with me around the four month mark and I told him no. But then I thought back to all the other relationships I had lost for being a prude so for his birthday I was like we can try it. After that it didn’t matter that I didn’t like it. I didn’t want to loose him though, so until he got violent I tried to deal with it.

I was taught that sex was expected. That I needed to suck it up and deal with it or no one would love me. Who would want to be with someone so broken? Which is also a big part of what factored into my depression and self harming tendencies. These thoughts of how awful and selfish and just bad I was for not having a desire everyone equates to humanity hurt me and never won’t be something I don’t think about.

Now I am so much happier, but I am still unlearning all the damaging things I have been taught about being me. This is why I don’t want to hear exclusionist tell me that asexuals aren’t oppressed enough. This isn’t the Olympics, we are NOT competing to see who can be hurt the worst, but we do need to recongnize that the things asexuals (and aromantics) face are because of their identities. Yes there can be some overlap in the root of these issues, but that does not mean that my problems weren’t also because of my lack of sexual desire.

I am allowed to not have a desire for sex, I am allowed to enjoy sex if I choose to have it, I am allowed to choose not to have it, but a huge part of me wishes I could be an allosexual, because it would be a lot easier. I would love to understand sexual attraction, I would love to experience it, and I would love not to doubt my validity because some people think my community is stealing from others.

I don’t want to see anyone, and I mean ANYONE, saying anyone who is asexual/aromantic is basically straight. To not be cishet you literally just have to be not heterosexual/romantic or not be cis and last time I checked asexuality and heterosexuality are not synonyms and the same can be said for the romantic attraction.

Also, I use the split attraction model. It helps me feel comfortable in my identity and helps me. If you don’t use it that is 10000% valid, but remember to not invalidate those who use it.

I was tagged by @chocoholicannanymous to post the first lines of the last ten fics I wrote...on. They all were WIPs..all of them. It might be a bit embarrassing to admit that this doesn’t even make a dent in the WIPs in progress. Nope...not a dent.

I realize I tend to long first paragraphs often, so I went with between 3 and 6 lines...

Pretty much nothing as a name...so I’ll refer to it by the title of the doc.

So, with our further fluffiery...from what I worked on latest to ten back....

1) Modeling AU ---glee WIP

Santana, Rachel and Kurt were filling the condiment bottles and chatting as they watched while the group of 4 singing wait staff finished their last song. Or rather Rachel and Santana were chatting and Kurt was trying to ignore them while not letting them know he was ignoring them, or at least not letting Rachel know he was ignoring them. He wasn’t incredibly happy with anyone that moment, although he was at a better place with Santana than with Rachel. It could have been because he and Santana had had it out a bit earlier so the air was partially cleared, but not cleared enough for him to be helping her chat with Rachel.

2) NaNoWriMo 2017 ---- glee wip, also second part to the story above but nano wants new works...so I made it one (this year nano was a failure...ended up with too much family drama going on and the son was a senior in highschool)

Kurt Hummel trudged into the costume workshop attached to the theater department at NYU. He wasn’t sure Rosie, who he was supposed to meet up with was even there yet, as it was ridiculous o’clock in the morning, but the back entrance door was open so he figured someone responsible was inside.

“hello?” Kurt called out.

“In the room with the sewing machines, back right hand door.” Kurt heard yelled back to him.

3) NaNoWriMo 2016 ------glee wip...again this year of nano was a failure...but that was because I was sick for most of it

The summer after Blaine’s massive meltdown and tantrum and the subsequent break-up was looking to be…difficult. Horrid. Soul crushing. Kurt saw no relief from it. There was no one to ease the feeling that somehow he was solely to blame. He had no one to talk to, really. Artie blamed Kurt and wouldn’t give him the time of day. He was the only one still in New York City. He hadn’t heard from Elliot or Dani since before he was bashed back in February…he remembered asking about why he hadn’t and getting a vague brushing off and then the bashing happened and then every moment was focused on Blaine again…making sure he wasn’t feeling inadequate or ignored. And no body at work spoke with him, at least not at the diner.

4) CM-Glee cross --------Criminal minds Glee crossover WIP...I am determined to finish this and it’s companion fic...I will...at some point

If one had asked, which of course no one ever did, Spencer Reid would have actually told that anyone who’d asked that he would have rather been anywhere else than where he was. He’d have liked to have had the opportunity to give some input, to have some options! Yes, he’d had some …issues, especially when things were dealing with teens, but it wasn’t like everyone else he worked with had always done everything exactly right each and every time either. (Morgan and any pretty women they worked with in any way shape or form…for example. Hotch stopped Spencer from talking before he got that pointed out though.) These weren’t even really teens, for the most part…at least not high school students. Out of the six deaths, only one was a student. Spencer did not see the reason Hotch had stared at him the whole time he gave his lecture on not letting themselves get too emotionally involved. Nor did he see why HE and HE alone had been left at the police station when they arrived. He was actually an agent, for Pete’s sake.

5)nanowrimo 2013 ------glee and criminal minds crossover WIP...yes you read that date right,however this ficis over 80000 words and I think could be finished quickly if I could just get past one fricking scene

After Kurt’s summer from hell, Kurt Hummel had hoped that things would be better for the school year, or at least the same things wouldn’t be bad. He was really tired of the repetition of misery that was his life lately. However, when it came down to it, school had been going just like it had the year before. Granted, he’d only been tossed into the dumpster once so far. (He suspected it was because he was harder to toss this year after putting on a few inches in height.) However, the locker slams had become brutal again and slushies were still a routine.

6) why Kurt speaks fluent french ----I suck at titles. Glee WIP. Somehow half what was written for this got lost...on some hard drive or flash drive was another 5000 to 10000 words, but I have not been able to find it so we spent a bit over the summer rewriting.

Elizabeth Hummel looked around the parking lot of Hill Side Elementary School, and wondered once again where the hill that she’d figured it was named after actually was. It certainly wasn’t anywhere near the school. False advertising…that ought to be a good reason not to have Kurt go to there, although she was pretty certain her husband would disagree. Elizabeth hated the school. She had hated it from the start, really…from the moment they got the letter in the mail that told them that due to the schools nearest them being under construction still and the next closest school being under renovation and so only being able to house half the students it generally did…her child was slated to go to Hill Side.

7) Kurtoberfest day 16 holiday recipes --- WIP, almost done, maybe, au where Finn is alive

Kurt remembers the day Finn Hudson’s career path was chosen. Finn had come to New York to ‘hang’ with his brother and sneer at Rachel and torment Santana. (Ok, Finn said he’d come to hang with Kurt, but he spent more time sneering at Rachel and tormenting Santana than hanging with Kurt, to the point of refusing to go site seeing to places Finn had wanted to see in favor of bugging the girls.) Kurt and Finn had been watching old comedies waiting for Rachel to get back so Finn could bug her when Kurt switched from Sister Act to Kindergarten Cop. Finn had never seen Kindergarten Cop. Kurt was frankly dumbfounded about that fact, seriously. Kindergarten Cop was like a staple of movie viewing. Finn watched Kindergarten Cop with an intensity that Kurt had only ever seen him give to 45 buck steaks and a basketball ball game on TV once that Finn had bet 300 dollars on. Finn didn’t even notice when Rachel came stomping into the loft and then left again.

8)Kurtoberfest prompt 17 harry potter au ---glee and HP crossover

When Harry Potter left Britain, and the wizarding world, he decided to run to someplace he could get lost in. He beat dear old Voldie, he’d won the damned war for them, and all he got from it was fits from people who didn’t like how he did it…he should have used magic, not non-magical means and he certainly shouldn’t have used a snake to help…and proof of just how manipulative certain people had been in his life, which thankfully the goblins had helped him with after he proved to them he did not sign anything giving anyone means to form marriage and partnership contracts with anyone. Half the Weasley’s weren’t talking to him, and he was fine with that after finding out that Ginny had been feeding him love potions because he wasn’t responding the way she wanted and that Dumbledore had sold him off to her mom, essentially in trade for her pledging the aid of all her children to Dumbledore’s cause. He also didn’t appreciate that Dumbledore had promised Harry’s magic to the ministry in exchange for the ministry turning a blind eye to certain things Dumbledore had done…like sealing his parents wills with no authority to do so.

9) Severus Snape meets a Small Harry What If ----Harry PotterWIP one of like 8 with this name in my WIP folder. This one has a big harry and a small harry and is a bit dark

As Severus Snape watched over Flitwick’s classroom, full of Gryffindor third years, he cursed the fact that the quarantine of a house also included their head of house. He cursed the outbreak of – what was it…ah, yes… the Chicken Pox – some silly Muggle disease a first year had brought back with them after a family gathering during the short spring break which had spread through the Ravenclaws like a wildfire.

10) T and T Kurt....Glee WIP Just how did Kurt’s tiara collection get started?

Elizabeth Hummel looked around the dressing room area of the pageant and briefly contemplated her sanity…or lack of…in getting involved with it all. She was tired of the tantrums and whining and screaming done by both mothers and children. Luckily her child wasn’t involved in any of that. Her child was seated off to the side.

“Katerina Bates, please come stand by mummy.” Elizabeth called.

The child slid off the chair they were seated on and hopped over.

“Elli. Not Katerina.”

“Katerina today. You can be Elli tomorrow.”

Yeah....there were six other in that Kurtoberfest bunch being worked on, three other HP and three other CM fics..because I told myself I would finish a WIP this summer and my mind said NOPE, Will no concentrate on One. Nope Nope Nope.

Also wrote lines for beans for Clever Jack and the Magic Beanstalk because of course the magic beans needed a whole mini scene song and dance number to themselves...of course they did.

So I'm writing a VLD fic

@comfortably-chaotic-mind I'm tagging you bc you know this fic and I'm sure you'll want to hear this lol plus this is kind of a funny story...sorry for the long post though

Everybody else, I'm very very very sorry you have to put up with this but I'm really upset about this right now so I gotta get this out

Basically, Keith's dad was super close with the latest Admiral of the Galaxy Garrison. Like I'm not sure what happened with them (maybe graduated together?? or the admiral taught him some life lesson??? idk) but Kogane trusts Dos Santos with his LIFE okay

And he basically says that Dos Santos is Keith's godfather in his will

So when Kogane dies...Dos Santos shows up and is like bitch u ain't takin this boi to the home

So Keith becomes like the housecat-ghostboy-orphan of the Galaxy Garrison. He likes sitting with the old people, climbing in the rafters, and sneaking around to scare the shot out of the cadets.

He's also an avid reader. (A personal headcanon of mine but blown up to a massive proportion.)

Like I mean this boy eats books for breakfast lunch and dinner. If he's awake, he's reading. He listens to audio books to fall asleep half the time (the other half of the time he's blasting Disturbed or FOB or something edgy like that).

This boy has read every book that could even VAGUELY be considered interesting.

Okay, let me just tell you:

The average school library has a ratio of between 10 and 20 books per student.

Let's say the Garrison has 5000 students (just larger than West Points cadet count) and their ratio is small at 10. That's 50000 books in the library.

Probably 10000 are extra copies or second/third/twelfth editions of the same books (going by the ratio of 1/5 that my school had). That's still 40000.

I'm gonna be nice and say that 500 are reference books, another 500 are random (small, informational or entertaining, don't fit a special category), 25000 are nonfiction, and 14000 are nonfiction.

Keith is almost 13 at this point in the story.

As an avid reader myself, I started reading at four. Keith started at five in the story.

I was six when I read my first 200pager. So was Keith.

So let's say he started on the smallest books in the Garrison at age 5. That's 500 in a year. About a book and a half a day.

Boom. Down to 35500 books in the library.

(As we all know, I hope, the library will rotate books, causing the number to fluctuate a bit. But let's say for the sake of math that it stays this way)

His dad already gets supplies from the Garrison (because he lives on Garrison property shhh it makes sense) so he starts asking for more books because Keith is just eating them up.

So the countdown to 15000 starts.

This is where I should explain that I literally lived down the road from a small town library until I was ten years old. I know what it's like to have access to books. I went to the library with my uncle every saturday afternoon. The librarian knew my name and used to come to my soccer games when he could. He was my best friend.

I remember when I was about seven I started getting frustrated because I would go through all my books in the first few days of the week and then be out until Saturday. I started taking my bookbag with me. I made my uncle (in his teens) take one, too. We crammed anywhere from thirty to sixty books into those bags and carried more with us.

The only reason we got away with it (because there was a 20 book limit) was because we had six library cards between the three of us--i had mine and my mom's, my uncle had his, his best friends, and my grandma's, and the library dude was nice enough to lend us his if we needed it.

So yeah. On a good week, I got about seventy books. That's ten books a day.

(I should explain that I still went to school. I went to public school with plenty of kids who hated reading enough for all of us. I had teachers who either insisted I was some kind of genius--i wasnt--or banished me to the hallway for reading Jane Austen during reading time when they specifically said to pick something at the class reading level. I know this life. It's kinda sucky.)

So yeah. Ten books a day, seven days a week, for fifty-two weeks. I got through the entire small-town library (4000 books) in just over a year.

Yes, I even read the reference books. Yes, I had to ask for help with some of the more sophisticated books in the library. (Yes, I skipped a few of the research books. I was eight. Sue me.)

What I'm saying is that it is realistic for me to have Keith reading 5 or 6 thousand books a year for eight years, because in this story he has LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE TO DO.

His dad homeschools him without schooling him at all (unschooling, look it up on wikipedia--yes I know it probably doesn't work like that, but it's my AU and I do what I want). Then his dad dies when he's just over eight and he's alone in the house for a year. Just books to keep him company.

Then (after meeting Sam Holt) he starts trekking out to the Garrison, creeping around the halls and camping out in the library when he feels like it.

He makes friends with the campus librarian. Professors give him books for his birthday. At twelve, he got Sam and Dos Santos to help him build a room onto the old shack so his books weren't just lying wherever in the house. The room has twelve bookcases (three on each wall) each with five shelves (60 shelves total) and full of books (about 2000 books total, give or take).

He doesn't socialize a lot (he's still Keith) but it's not that he doesn't want to. It's just that he's awkward (he's still KEITH). If people would stick around for a while (more than ten minutes), he's actually really cool and funny, even if he's a little defensive/shorttempered/oblivious/clueless.

(Just because you're smart and read a lot doesn't mean you understand everything. Just because you know how to make jokes doesn't mean you always catch them or that you understand idioms or innuendos or anything that isn't straight talk.)

His jokes are literature based. He uses sarcasm a lot even though half the time it comes out wrong. He identifies with both Darcy and Elizabeth on a spiritual level.

He has a room at Dos Santos' that has a bookcase full of composition notebooks, themselves full of notes on all the books he's read, little doodles of scenes he really likes, and jokey little summaries of long reference passages.

He's a nerd who never had to learn how to socialize with real people. He LIKES people. He's not a robot, and he doesn't automatically hate you on sight.

He's just been through a lot in his life, and he's still just a lonely little kid.

Anyway. Keith reads about twenty fiction/short books some days, four longer reference/textbook books other days. It varies. It took him six hours to get through Under the Dome, and there was one time he read eleven aeronautics manuals in eight hours and then passed out for fourteen, but mostly he takes longer for reference books/textbooks than fiction books/memoirs.

Also he's read the dictionary/thesaurus like forty times by the time he's thirteen and he shows ZERO sign of stopping. It's basically a religion at this point.

So let me break this down again:

Garrison library has 50,000 books. Minus 10,000 because they're copies/lame editions. That's 40,000 books.

1000 are reference books or random (small, informational or entertaining, don't fit a special category) books, 25000 are nonfiction/memoir/diagram based/school or lesson based, and 14000 are nonfiction.

Keith starts reading at five. His first five hundred are done when he's six--he starts on the next five hundred and finishes within months. His dad starts asking for larger shipments.

By the time Keith is seven, he's read 2000 books.

We're down to 38,000 books in the Garrison library.

Between seven and eight, he reads another 3000. Down to 35,000 books in the Garrison library.

A couple months later (500 books down, 34,500 to go) his dad dies. He's alone in the house for 10 months, only books to keep him company.

He reads another 4,000 books in this time. By the time he turns nine, he's reading at a high school level. 30,500 to go.

Sam visit on his ninth birthday. He brings more books, invites him to visit the Garrison sometime. The librarian could use some company.

Keith does.

By the time he's ten, he's read another 6,500 books. It's a really good year. 24,000 to go.

Age 10-11: 6,000 books. 18,000 to go.

Age 11-12: 5,750 books.12,250 to go

He's turning 13 in a few weeks. This year he has so far read 5,375 books. He wants to hit 5500 again. For the five year anniversary.

It's not a good year. He's not feeling great. He starts talking to Matt more than he used to. Matt pushes him a little. He says he can do it. Keith believes him. He's never lied to him before.

(That Keith knows of. What goes to his benefit is unnecessary knowledge for him.)

He hits 5,500. 6,750 to go.

This is where I am now.

Now by all accounts, there are a few notes I should make.

There is a portion of books at Keith's home that he has not read. They are books the librarian gave him because she knew he hadn't read them before they were getting rotated out for a new shipment. This is probably 500 books.

That makes the total 7,250.

Less than ten thousand.

He has read 33,250 books in eight years (ages 5 to 13). Average: 4156.25 books per year, 11.3 books per day.

I'm almost twenty and I read 55,383 books between the ages of 4 and 18 (between the first book I read at home and the last book I read before my graduation ceremony). Average: 3955.93~ books per year, 10.8 books per day.

I didn't have a lot of friends. I was bffs with every librarian I met/had. In 10th grade world history we had to give one cool/weird fact in an introductory assignment and I told them I had read every book in the school library. No one believed me. I told them I could prove it. She said go ahead.

"I have read every book in the school library. The librarian can vouch for me. They have not rotated their books since I was in eighth grade. My grandmother works here, so I know. There are exactly 17,488 books in the library, not including extra copies or "editions" like all they did was change two sentences in the intro that's hardly new information. But whatever. I started reading that year. I made a list of every book i read that year. There were 3272. That's 14216 to go--all of which were in the fiction and nonfiction sections. My grandmother checked them out. If you go into her records from that year and take that list and add it to my list from last year in 9th grade, you'll see that I read every single book. I started with the reference section that year and then went to the manga, then the nonfiction, then the historical fiction, then the fantasy fiction. I had already read most of the books in the fiction section. 6,791 out of 7,918 to be exact. That's 7425 to go. I'd also read 3577 if the 6298 nonfiction books. That's 3848 to go. Over the course of the last school year, which lasted exactly 42 weeks, I checked out 30 books every Monday and 50 books every Thursday. That's eighty books every week. Times 42, that's 3360. 488 left. I hung out with my grandmother while she worked over the summer. I kept my reading up, only for the first half. By the end of July--the 29th--I had read the rest. That's nine books a day every day. Don't believe me? Ask the librarian."

So the teacher did.

She put the librarian on speakerphone.

The librarian went on a full ten minute rant about how ridiculously difficult it was checking out fifty books at a time.

My history teacher wouldn't come within 2ft of my desk until after holiday break, and she didn't go into the library at all that year.

Moral of the story: IT IS TOTALLY LOGICAL/ACCEPTABLE THAT I HAVE KEITH READING OVER 30,000 BOOKS IN EIGHT YEARS IN THIS FIC OKAY PLEASE DON'T COME AT ME OVER THIS

Who would say ‘i love you’ first? Him. No doubt. I struggle with shit like that. It usually takes someone else to say it first for me to even realise that actually yeah I love them too. But after the first time there would be no problem saying it to each other. I might be shy the first few times he says it in front of other people though

I think we’d both get flustered though if we were randomly doing something and found the other had been watching us the whole time thinking it was cute

Which one of you would nearly burn down the kitchen trying to microwave a pop tart and who would come to the rescue? I think we’re both too smart for that to happen. If anything we’ll be having to save Minhyuk & Jooheon from burning down the kitchen and then help clean up before dad shownu found out

Who likes to lean over tall railings and who pulls them back? It might sound weird but I love standing on railings and leaning over a little bit. There’s just something about it that makes me feel completely free but in total control at the same time. Kihyun is a worried boy though so he’d be holding onto me so I don’t actually fall ~cue titanic re-enactment lmfao~

What would watching a horror film with them be like? I HATE horror film. So it’s gonna be all cuddles. I’ll either be on my phone or have my face buried in his chest. No doubt he’d be laughing at me and teasing me. But i imagine there would come a point where he’d be in the middle of teasing me and then get scared himself and I would laugh so much my clumsy ass would probably end on the floor

Who would have to be give constant reminders? (remember to eat, don’t forget your keys, etc) I think we would do it to each other. Reminding each other to eat, drink water etc. With general things I think we’d be okay but we’d constantly be reminding the other to look after themselves

What a day and what a night...

I went solo to Tokyo Auto Salon. Last year, I went on the second day of the event, with people, and we showed up after it already started. It was stressful and I wanted to leave. This year, I went on the first day by myself and I showed up early. I was able to maneuver rather easily. I had fun. I met people.

The drive from my sleepy town in Kanagawa to Chiba wasn’t the wave. Two hours. Traffic. Speed traps?! If it weren’t for the Joe Budden Podcast, I would have been miserable.

My main goal was to get to Subaru and buy things. That’s it. Everything else was a treat. Ken Block’s Mustang is incredible in person. After spending all of the money at the Subaru exhibit, I kept wandering.

If you want to market yourself by designing clothes and accessories to go along with automotive enthusiasm, lemmtellya, that’s the right thing to do. You can get your entire spring wardrobe right at Tokyo Auto Salon. Whether it’s Badside or that Please Be Careful dude (who I think dissed me on some lack of reading comprehension shit at one point); that approach is 10000% effective out here.

I spotted Nakai-san’s Steall Artois RWB Porsche at the Deep Lifestyles Supply Co booth. They’re an LA-based clothing brand with ties here in Japan and in Hong Kong. The music they were playing was dope. The style was dope. I met two reps from RWB Arizona (who both drive Porsches). It was good to see other brothas so heavy in the scene. We kicked it for the rest of the day.

I saw a post OnHere™ with someone complaining about RWB selling out, or Nakai-san’s vision being diluted, or some shit. I don’t remember. I glazed over that shit and kept it moving. The RWB cats invited me to the 30 Year Anniversary/RWB New Year Party. Nakai rented out Hard Rock Tokyo. The food and drinks were free. It was a who’s-who of RWB friends and family. I ran into Max Orido and showed him the photo we took together at Sebring in 2015. He remembered immediately. Hell, even the RWB models/race queens were treated like family because they were.

Nakai-san and company are the kindest people I’ve ever met in the car community. I can see how it captivates people. Dude had me wanting to buy a 911 and have him build it. Idlers from all over the world (see: the ones with the most money as well as his oldest friends) were all there to celebrate. We wore name tags. We played fun, ice-breaking games. Everyone was so nice. I got treated like family. People get giving me t-shirts and hoodies. One drunk gentleman saw my Subaru jacket and said, “Ehhhhh! We need to give him Porsche, dasho?!”

This was all made possible to the two brothas from RWB Arizona. There’s a kinship that black folks understand. I try to explain it, but it’s not something that can be put into words. I truly believe I made some lifelong friends tonight because of RWB.

Once I left Tokyo, I went to Daikoku Futo and met up with a mixed group of Japanese and American GC8 drivers from Aomori who did a six-car road trip down here. That’s a long, expensive (tolls) drive and I commend them. We talked car stuff. We took photos. We exchanged info. We hugged. In English with a heavy Japanese accent, I was even told, “I have a lot of love and respect for you. Thank you for making time for us.” My allergies acted up for 10 minutes.

“Don’t move to Japan,” they said. “It will be too difficult to live there long term,” they said. Nah. They were wrong.

This here life is some kind of wonderful.

Thanks for asking, @la-petite-fadette! I made a separate post for this, since it was getting kind of long, hope that’s okay.

And I was actually thinking of talking about this for Braven week when I saw the “when they became your otp” moment so, the question comes at a perfect time. It convinced me to actually type it out!

To answer that question adequately- because I'm very wordy and incapable of answering quickly, watch me get off-topic under the cut as I try to walk you through my history of shipping on The 100. This is all a lot of honest rambles about what I shipped and why I stopped.

Dear followers, if you ship B*llarke, don’t read this. It’s only going to upset you, so stay away :) Also, Braven shippers, this post talks about B*llarke a lot. and about Raven x W*ck a bit And about internalized bias and things like that. Just so you’re warned :) it does talk about braven though oF COURSE

So how did I get into Ravenbell? To get there, I have to start with B*llarke because.... well, you’ll see.

The thing is, like many others I think, I shipped B*llarke before even watching the show.

Gifsets of that season 2 hug were everywhere on my dash, and I was like: “oh my this is cute.” then I started watching the show, and while I fell in love with Raven at first sight, B*llarke had that enemies to lovers potential that kept me hooked.

They had fun chemistry in season 1. They started antagonistic then started liking each other more. They were the leads. It made... sense? And I genuinely liked them. So there I was, shipping it happily. Everyone shipped it, so it was on my dash all the time. It fueled my shipping, and I knew it was all leading to The Hug.

Ravenbell was.... well. not even a thing if you looked at the fandom, judging by the people I was following. It was either Fl*arke or B*llarke. L*nctavia too.

So Ravenbell flew past me. I enjoyed their interactions- definitely saw the sexual tension.

Hell, I will admit that when they hooked up in season 1, I felt lowkey threatened, as I think many B*llarke shippers did.

My threatening did not, however, transform into me hating Raven because I loved her a lot. She was my absolute favorite. People disliking her because of that thing honestly made me like her more out of spite- not that she needed it. My love for Raven Reyes knows no bounds.

And even then, I think I was kind of hoping something more would come from their hook-up- but I was still in B*llarke land then, so I both wanted it and I didn’t.

That’s the thing about me- honestly, I tend to pick a ship and it’s hard for me to get over it once I ship it. I’m less like this than I used to be, but yeah. I tended to hold on tight to ships

I did think, though, that maybe Ravenbell would go somewhere in season 2, after their late season 1 interactions. It kind of surprised me that it didn’t. So season 1 happened, and then season 2 rolled around. I loved season 2 in many ways, but Raven’s general storyline in season 2 was very unsatisfying to me. Raven x W*ck was nice, at first. I wanted Raven to have a love interest that wasn't Finn. I enjoyed the banter- but then when it progressed, I found myself grimacing at Wick putting pressure on her. I was like “really man? She just lost the boy she loved forever, her family, can you chill?” I saw everyone being all heart eyes at that ship in the B*llarke tag, and I was wondering if there was something I’d missed. Because I wasn’t really into it. I did notice, though, at the end of season 2, Bellamy saying “Is that Raven?” like he wanted to cry. It made my heart do a thing. But again, still in B*llarke land. I got a lot of feels at the end of the season. She kissed his cheek. I was crying. Still firmly into B*llarke at this point. Even if the possibility of Cl*xa then highly interested me.

But anyway. On to season 3.

Season 3 is when I stopped shipping B*llarke.

Mostly because season 3 started, iMO, sucking. I was angry at the Bell storyline. I was angry at how Cl*xa was handled, I was angry at the Lincoln death/Ricky Whittle on set drama... Season 3 nearly got me to quit the show tbh.

So my B*llarke shipping was sucked into my frustration with the show. And I didn’t like the idea that L*xa was killed off to make way for B*llarke- I now realize that it wasn’t the case, but the way the fandom framed it... It turned me off the show, the ship, all of it.

I also lost interest in Cl*rke as a character for many reasons that I won’t go into- my season 3 frustrations are never-ending tbh and somehow, when B*llarke reunited at the end of the season, it fell kind of flat to me? I was like: “but wait where’s that romantic chemistry I thought they had” (the answer was it probably wasn’t there in the first place but anyway i’m not here to throw shade)

anyway, my reaction was: “Huh. so I’m over b*llarke.”

Also, as I got more frustrated with the show in season 3, I started going into “anti tags” and found meta that talked about several aspects (I think some of them were even written by you? I know I’d seen your name in tags before I followed you for Braven joy) such as the show’s racist patterns, etc.- and also, I distinctly remember reading a great piece of meta about how the show rarely lets characters of color interact without a white character present, and that.... got me. I was like: fuck that’s true.

When I say season 3 sucked though, I want to make it clear that while it did IMO, it only... highlighted some of the problems that were here all along in the show. Honestly I’m really not proud of the way I missed - or ignored- some of the show’s patterns, and they really came to light in season 3. The fact that I missed those aspects is fully on me. A lot of viewers were aware of them before. Just not... me? Wow am I getting off-topic. The question was about Ravenbell. Okay. Focus, Audrey, focus.

I wasn’ t even going to watch season 4, at first, but my husband wanted to, so I knew I wouldn't be able to resist. I wasn’t really into the 100 then anymore tbh.

Before season 4 rolled around though, I visited the Ravenbell tag. The reason is ridiculously personal and has, at its basis, NOTHING to do with Ravenbell themselves. A happy accident, really.

To be completely honest, I started writing a book (wee!) where two main characters hook up and they look like Ravenbell a lot. Tall curly-haired boy, shorter dark-haired lady, both of them brown-skinned... so I wanted screenshots of them to make my own private edits for myself like the little goblin that I am- and looking for screenshots on google images led me to the Braven tag, and then I.... could not... get out.

Looking at the Ravenbell scenes in gifsets, looking at edits, honestly made me go: “........ huh. HUH. how come I don’t ship this more? They’re my favorite individually and usually, I ship my favorites together. Not always but often How come I broke my own pattern?”

The question to how come I broke my own pattern probably has an answer that’s both obvious and shameful tbh. The fact that I didn’t ship Raven with Bell even if she was my favorite character, over Cl*rke, says a lot about how much TV structure and internalized shit influence us. I’m a lot more conscious of that than I used to be. I know you’re familiar with candyumbrella’s tobin structure posts- and honestly, misreading B*llarke as Tobin?

That was me. Me 1000000%. I can admit it freely because I’m super over it but that was the case.

Probably the reasons the meta mentions- even if it wasn’t conscious on my part. I somehow- had this idea in my head that Bell*rke was the ship. That the romantic chemistry was there. That the storyline was going there. That they had the development, the attraction, etc.

As it turns out.... well. Nope?

Those Tobin metas also intensified my Braven shipping by 10000% since then but anyway

Really though, the braven tag and its contents - that I kept visiting for non-book-edit purposes- made me start shipping it. A lot. A lot-lot. Mostly because the more I looked at their pretty selves and thought about them, they made... sense?

The fact that I was super over B*llarke freed up the way for me to ship Braven. It sounds silly, really, but that's 1000% what happened.

Anyway, by the start of season 4, Braven interacted.

I squealed.

I wanted more of them.

I kept visiting the tags. More and more and more. I rewatched some of their scenes and saw things I’d missed. I remembered how really, in season 1, it looked like something more would come from their season 1 scenes- until that was mostly dropped in season 2. And the writing for season 4 was more satisfactory to me, for the most part. There was more Raven. A LOT MORE RAVEN. So between my renewed fondness for the show, my heart exploding with feels over Raven Reyes all the time, my little heart fluttering over Bellamy Blake constantly, I went from “oh that would be rly nice if the show went there again” to “help I ship it so hard I would die for them” and honestly there’s no going back for me now.

I realized that not only was Ravenbell super based in canon, they made sense. They bring out some passion in each other that lacks in their interactions with other characters IMO. And honestly, after all the shit they went through, I want them to be loved and protected and treated well- and if you look at the show’s canon, IMO, that’s with each other. I’m not nearly as skilled with Braven meta as the rest of the fandom is, so I won’t bother explaining why I love them because honestly, the fandom’s said it all. And I can feel it in my chest now- they evoke the kind of love that B*llarke used to evoke for me, only even deeper because (no shade to anyone who likes Cl*rke ) I’ve always loved Raven much, much more than I like Cl*rke, even when the latter was in my top 5 favorite characters. The admiration I have for Raven Reyes knows no bounds, and god, Bellamy Blake, don’t get me started. Loving him has been a ride, because he has been through so much and grown so much and you know that meta, Raven Reyes as the secret hero of his development? I think about that every goddamn day.

And honestly, back in B*llarke days, I was annoyed with some of the fandom’s tendency to... reduce Bell or Raven to Cl*rke. I never liked the trend of making Raven out to be some sort of B*llarke cheerleader- and I think starting in season 2, I was a bit annoyed by the idea that everything Bell did or said was directly related to his love for Cl*rke. Even if I shipped it, that was... irksome, even if it took me a while to realize what bothered me.

Honestly the cracks in my B*llarke shipping were probably there from the start but anyway. I still shipped for a loooooong time

I spent season 4 waiting for Braven to interact more, getting increasingly annoyed with Cl*rke, thirsting for Braven to interact ALONE- and then completely exploding when he offered to go get her and the hug and the scenes in the finale and gkljflkgjdlkjgdfkgjdflkjkldjflgjfdlgkjfdlkgjfdklgjfdklgjflgjd. Keysmash sums up my feelings efficiently.

Honestly, I think it’s the Ravenbell tag that made me get into it before season 4 rolled around, and increasingly through the season. The gifsets, the metas, the everything- mostly because the tag helped me realize a lot of things that had happened in the first three seasons and that I’d missed because I was into another ship. Complete and utter tunnel-vision.

And now, as I await season 5, I visit the tag all the time and read all the meta and look at their pretty faces and think daily about what a fool I was to miss that ship for such a long time. I honestly can’t believe myself Anyway, if you read all that, thank you? I hoped you enjoyed my ramblings. (Also, this may sound like a silly question, but am I the only one who went from B*llarke to Braven? I feel like I can’t be, but you know, if anyone else ship-jumped, let me know so I can feel less alone and we can cry together about the foolishness of our youth)

Voltron RANT beware!!

Ok so several things as I peruse through the Voltron and other tags in that fandom that came to my mind. I shall get some hate but I needed to say my thoughts. First is the fact that these characters are in a scenario way beyond their individual comfort levels. All of them. For the most part they are not going to be hung up on ideas of love and such. I believe Lance uses flirting as a coping mechanism since it allows a sense of familiarity with home. Second is the fact that many of these characters are young. Several with major issues that would prevent them from understanding their sexual preferences and what they are. So all this fighting about shipping is moot. However, the bonds and closeness of each character to the others COULD form something more once the main issues each face are overcome. Now I will go into my personal ideas on each character. This is NOT an attack on anyone and is just my two cents about these characters. Lance: Like I said earlier I believe Lance to use flirting and also his animosity towards Keith as coping mechanisms. He is Cuban and family is HUGE for that culture. He has lost connection with his family and I bet he is acutely aware of each day that passes on Earth and what he is missing with his family. His rivalry with Keith allows him a grounding in a familiar territory as he must have had it going for a long time at the Garrison. Giving him something to keep his thoughts away from family. Basically any odd spike in flirting with others or animosity towards Keith could be seen as an attempt to bury sadness about missing another birthday or other significant family function. On top of him trying to find something that makes him useful. Remember he is constantly reminded how he wasn't supposed to be a fighter-class pilot by superiors. He has only received recognition from Shiro once or twice and generally seems think he is tacked on or dragged along. But when his skills come in handy they shine. The problem is he is unsure if they are needed. He is unsure what he can do. Of all the Paladins besides Pidge, I believe he knows who he is but has no clue what he is capable of. Leaving himself self aware and with feelings of uselessness. As for pairings Pidge would feel like a sibling to him, the younger dynamic and the light teasing seen between them is very reminiscent of that dynamic. Allura would be a crush and possibly someone he uses aspects from when finding partners since she has many personality aspects he seems to value. I do believe Keith to be at least bisexual if not pansexual. But he is definitely in favor of feminine features and physicality. He is open and inviting to Pidge on first meeting "him" while having a modicum of caution in his approach. The reason you don't see him flirting with males is the hostile and violent negative reaction many would give from being hit on by a fellow male. Meaning he would wait to see if flirting could be seen as playful and such before doing it with males. Keith: This poor child. He has no clue who or what he is. He is a lost little boy using anger and impulsiveness as shields of his self doubt. Shiro gives him a sense of grounding and stability. Next season will be interesting to see how Shiro's absence effects him. That said this poor boy is so lost I don't think anyone can correctly guess what his sexuality is. He also won't have any clue how to handle attractions or feelings of desire. Quite frankly he is a poster child of repressed sexual exploration and it's probably one of many reasons for his behavioural issues. That said I don't think any direct family are Galra. While an interesting idea and good story device it would be more feasible to make a very distant ancestor was Galra. The knife being passed down through the generations. Mainly for several plot hole issues. The blue lion had to be on Earth for 3000-10000 years. When they were scattered Allura was awake. The cave markings were in the style of before common era and the year of the story is definitely a few centuries near our own. None of the technology shown from Earth seemed so far advanced to say the story is more than 150-300 years from now. So the Galra in Keith's history could be the Pilot of the blue lion if it was an ancient ancestor. Otherwise there would need to be a very convoluted story of a Galra being several light years from the empire or Blade of Marmorra alone and crashing on Earth without anyone coming to get them for more than a few years and having no knowledge of the blue lion being on Earth. Relationship wise he probably sees all the Paladins and such as an extended family and will be fiercely protective of them all while also being a bit standoffish and aggressive about any feelings he doesn't know how to deal with. Hunk: This huge cinamon bun child. Sweet, innocent, and caring. He misses food. Samoans culture has a huge culinary side. Not just for culture specific, they love to try new things. In my experience Samoans have some of the most varied tastes of anyone. Many learn to cook from a young age as the culture prizes independence and community usefulness. Cooking is seen as something everyone must do and celebrate. Out in Glara space we see little fanfare about food and it seems to focus on just the nutritional aspects and not the flavor or feeling it can bring. Meaning a huge part of what Hunk sees as himself is missing in this new environment making him want to bring it out and make it popular. Seen in his cooking in the first few episodes and the mall episode. On top of that this lovable giant has adopted all of the people he connects with as family. Samoans are big on family but also tend to be more functional when separated for long time frames. They know their family is there when they get back. But they also tend to form family with those they form bonds with and not just share blood. Shay helping him and showing how truly little she has seen of the universe made him want to help her and his continued interest in her is adorable and shows Hunk as probably the most well adjusted of the Paladins. Honestly while he freaks out over many smaller things Hunk seems to have a handle on the bigger aspects such as being so far from home and the need of their mission. Hunk is also the one I would identify as the most sure of himself. He knows who he is, what he can do, and how he works. He is the rock of the team. Shiro: My god this poor man. He probably felt completely sure of who he was and his role before Zarkon. After a year as a prisoner and gladiator I am surprised he is able to still be so together. His identity of himself was shattered a bit from his imprisonment. He is afraid of himself to a degree. The new aspects being drawn out from being the leader of Voltron also shake his perception of himself. I don't think he ever actually saw himself as a leader. Or that he even does now. I think he sees himself more like the older brother to them all and he needs to do what he can to help and protect them. That said I feel like his inner turmoil and trauma prevent a lot of the closer bonding that he needs. One thing I would have liked to have seen was more one on one interaction with him and Allura as we haven't really been able to tell how he handles females closer to his age in a familiar manner. Basically I have nothing to base his sexuality or prefences off of. He could swing in any direction honestly. Otherwise I can't say much about him. Most of his time was spent about his trauma, new leader role, or comforting/helping the others come to terms with themselves. We were not given a chance to really explore his character beyond those aspects. Pidge: This driven, passionate, and hell-bent girl is amazing. I saved her for last cause she is by far my favorite character. Millions of light-years from Earth? No problem! New and strange technology, culture, and bizarness? Pfft whatevs! Nothing is gonna get in her way of finding her family. At 15 she is the youngest, all others estimated at late teens. But this means she started this mission of hers at 11-13, depending on how you interpret the story. She was just starting to realize her sexuality and the like when she became laser focused on her family. I doubt she evens sees herself as a sexual being. I do believe she sees herself as feminine rather than masculine but honestly gender is a moot thing as your sex does not determine your ability or worth. Biologically she is female in the sphere of the show. But otherwise she should just be labeled Pidge. Trans-Pidge theory is interesting but also a bit large to tackle in a children's cartoon. It definitely makes for some interesting fanfics! (I mean born male and wanting to be seen as female, then taking on male to disguise herself to get more info on family) She is definitely not born female wanting to be male otherwise she would have not bothered saying she was female to the other Paladins. Also she may not be sexually attracted to people. I kinda want to see her get involved with a gender neutral Android! Her love of technology is absolutely adorable. Can't you see her stuttering as she tried to talk to a humanoid and advanced AI Android? Adorbs! One small personal note her character has allowed some self-realization for myself. Before she was revealed to be a she I felt kinship with her tech savvy ways and thought of how I would love to get to know this smol child. After the reveal I gained a desire to see her protected, chauvinistic I know, but it's instinctual to a degree with males. But it highlighted to me how I can shift my perception of somebody once I know their designation. Also if she was several years older I would claim her as waifu cause damn she is impressive and stunning at times. On pairings I think she won't even begin to think about relationships before he brother and father are found and safe. Otherwise she will just ignore her feelings until that goal is achieved. Allura and Coran: Honestly they are aliens. Trying to assign the same human ideals as we do to ourselves is folly. For God's sakes we don't even know which sex carries the young! We don't see any scenes of pregnant Alteans! For all we know they lay eggs! How their minds work with relationships also is not very clearly defined by the show. They have familial bonds but marital and the like aren't reflected on. So how they are processing everything is anyone's guess! Pairing thoughts: Shiro is someone I can see paired with anyone except Pidge. The other teens I see as 17-18, and Shiro I see more like 23-25. But Pidge is 14-15 and I don't think has any actual time coming into being a sexual being. While I don't ship him with any of the Paladins him and Pidge make me uncomfortable to be seen paired together. Not to attack those that do, this is just my take on it. KeithxLance - I love love/hate dynamics but honestly I don't see it here. Though they would make very close and supportive/competitive almost brothers. AlluraxShiro - Probably the ship I agree with the most. Allura would make a great guide for him to get over his trauma and Shiro would offer her a source of calm stability with how out in the open she must feel losing basically all her support structures. Though I doubt it will happen soon. HunkxShay - I love this ship but I also see it as tragic since Shay wouldn't really leave the Balmera for very long and Hunk would not really fit into the culture there easily or ever. Not to say he would not be welcome but his inability to communicate with the Balmera would lead to a lot of exclusion and issues. PidgexTechnology - Pretty sure I made myself clear earlier! ****Rant over****

The thing is I heard this too often. It’s really easy to blame hanbin for the fact that they can’t seem to get to like iKON. If you don’t even know that he isn’t like what people try to make him look like then idk tbh. I tried to show people what kind of person he is, I answered many anons regarding this topic & even made tons of masterposts and gif sets. But that isn’t even necessary. If you try to get to know iKON, you’d normally watch some of their videos right? At least one interview or idk an iKONTACT. Just by doing that much you will already realize that hanbin isn’t like what you thought he would be like. It just takes that much effort. But if you don’t even try to get to know them by doing THAT much, then that’s your problem. I’m not here to explain hanbin’s personality to people who hate him. I’m not here to try to convince them to like him. All I can do is to show you their videos, make gifs and give you a little introduction about the boys and the fandom. And I did ALL of that, many many times. So if you really want to know more but don’t want to look for videos or stuff like that all you have to do is to just check our tags. If you blame your dislike or hate on hanbin then do it but pls leave me out of it. I’m tired of it by now. I am under my parents metlife auto insurance.. recently my 03 DTS was hit in a hit and run while parked in the parking lot and my right bumper is cracked and tailight is slightly damaged.. I took it to local body shop and got an estimate of $932.00 for repair. Insurance deductible is $250 There are no claims on my familys auto-insurance, My parents are to worried that it may increase their insurance rate if a claim is filed... When I called Metlife to ask them would there be an increase if claim was filed they gave a B.S. answer saying that they dont know until after everything is done and then they decide.... Lots of info, sorry! My car was parked on the street and hit during the night. I drove the car to the repair place the following morning and the airbag deployed on the way there. (Stupid, I know, I wasn't thinking). My insurance company, GEICO is insisting that the damage is not consistent with a hit and run accident. They have taken recorded statements from me and my boyfriend. They have contracted an independent accident reconstructionist to read the airbag deployment. The reconstructionist originally told me that he was unable to retrieve the data, but the insurance company is now telling me that he was able to get a partial reading. And that it shows that the airbag deployed as a result of impact. The airbag did not actually fully deploy. There is no powder or injury to me to justify a complete deployment. Does anybody know if they have the right to deny my claim based on suspicion? They keep trying to make me say that my boyfriend was driving the car, which he wasn't. We were in the house together all night. Also: car was in previous fire; severe damage to front of car, all repaired. accident happened in CA, full coverage policy written in GA I know its a lot of info.
