Some of the cast from The Thing From Another World (1951). This shot was used for posters and lobby cards for the film.

Actor Robert Cornthwaite, who played Dr. Carrington (on the left, the bearded fellow holding the flashlight) was arguably the best character out of a film filled with nothing but great characters. TIL he was in his early 30s when he made this film; that's a fantastic make-up job.

Also TIL the tall fellow in the back on the right is John Dierkes. He was a former FBI agent who originally went to Hollywood as a technical advisor. He got the acting bug and quit the Bureau.

What I already knew: the gentleman holding the carbine that obscures most of his face is Paul Frees. Even if you could see his face you might not recognize him, but you would as soon as you heard his voice. Frees worked for decades as a voice actor for radio, animation, and dubbing foreign films. Some of his credits include Boris Badenov from The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, Ben Grimm/The Thing from Hanna-Barbera's Fantastic Four cartoon (his is the voice I hear in my head when I read Ben Grimm in the comics, especially when he says "It's Clobberin' Time!"), Burgermeister Meisterburger from the perennial holiday special Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, and the French radio reporter from the American dub of Destroy All Monsters who describes Baragon (really Gorosaurus) destroying the Arc de triomphe.

As for the other guys in the photo: I'll do a separate post soon on Kenneth Tobey (from, with the axe) and Dewey Martin (the airman with the handgun) and their involvement in the film.

As for the blonde guy in the back with the pickaxe, I got no idea. I think he's a stand-in for James Young, who played Tobey's co-pilot Eddie Dykes. Please lemme know if anyone has any info.

I think its interesting how Tobey and Becky are so similar yet vastly different! As we see, both of them have huge egos! Although how they express them is different. Tobey expresses his ego loudly and outwardly, and uses it as a way to claim entitlement over others.

While Becky is usually (USUALLY lol) a bit more subtle expressing her ego/confidence through action in a way thats more solid, she's much smarter, stronger and better than you but she doesn't need to say because its obivous enough. Although, with her ego she claims responbility over others rather than entitlement because what better way to show that your better than others than repeatablly saving them?

A 6-year-old girl tried to take the hearing-aid off my baby, in the library play area the other day, to get a better look at it. My baby was fine, in fact she didn't even notice, but the absolute horror on the mom's face 😱... She looked like she was about to shed all of her hair and skin and her soul was about to flap away from her body as a butterfly of mortification. Like she thought I was going to break out my phone and doxx her on the spot for raising an "ableist, racist, Nazi Youth". I felt so bad for this poor woman 😂.

Because when your kid tries to rip the hearing-aid off of a baby, that is definitely not a good look. 😅

I told the mother it was fine, that kids will be kids and that I knew her daughter wasn't trying to be malicious, that she was just curious.

Meanwhile, all I could think about was the meme I was going to make that would most accurately portray this woman's life at that exact moment:

It didn't end there, however.

The girl asked why my baby needed a hearing-aid, so I explained that it was because she was born with only one ear.

The girl, then, reached out and fondled the deformed, underdeveloped skin abnormality of my daughter's not-ear in wonderment and the mother just:

This poor woman fucking died 🤣.

(My daughter, however, was giggling because the girl's little inspection of her not-ear tickled.)

Like making sure to childproof sharp arches so Nightwing doesn't get nicks. Like leaving homemade food and checking out library books for Red Hood.

Like pulling on Batman's helmet and calling his children and looking the other way when he's too injured even though that face has been plastered across every single billboard in the city one time or another.

Unless they perceive you as a journalist poking their nose in where it doesn't belong. Then you get conspiracy theories about Batman and Brucie Wayne's star crossed love stories and stuff like YouTube thirst videos of blurry Red Hood munching on a sandwich and memes.

And then there's one journalist who's so very confused why entirety of Gotham seems to lie when it comes to a particular group of very famous people he knows both ways.
