Tidbit Tuesday
thank you @capseycartwright and @sibylsleaves for the tag!! 🥰 i'm trying very hard not to just reveal the big moment in every single scene in this fic but here you go askjdfh
“Hey,” she says, voice cracked around the edges from too many tears. “How’re you holding up?” Eddie blinks, rousing himself from where he’d been staring unseeingly at the waiting room door. He offers her a half-hearted smile. “I feel like I should be asking you that.” “He’s important to you too,” she replies and Eddie doesn’t refute her. If anything, he looks a little embarrassed – the way Buck sometimes does when she teases him after a particularly long Eddie tangent. It’s sweet. Eddie’s eyes move to the corner of the room then where Christopher is at the coffee machine with Carla. She’s making him a hot chocolate and doing an impressive job of keeping him distracted. “He asked me,” Eddie says and his voice sounds rougher than Maddie’s had. She hasn’t seen him cry; she wonders if he’s been swallowing it down instead. “He asked me if Buck was gonna be okay. And it- it’s so soon after Shannon, he can’t-“ Eddie cuts off, taking a sharp inhale that ends with him pursing his lips. She hears the part he doesn’t say. He can’t lose someone else.

The 5 stages of writing smut:
Figuring - "They are doing what exactly? Where did my plot go? Is this supposed to have a plot? How do they get from talking to fucking?"
Rearranging - "Whose limbs are where? Did I forget a leg there? Or is it one too many? Does that even work anatomically?"
Flavouring - "Again, but now with emotions. Aren't they supposed to feel something?"
Polishing - "That comma there looks wrong. I am sure there are more words for it than cock and dick. No one will read it for the literacy quality, who am I kidding?"
Detaching - "I went over this far too many times to even find it remotely arousing anymore, but I hope someone else will."

Guys. Guys this isn't good.
I have the chance to make things (a fic) so much worse.
But I was going to do fluff. Two of the boys are sneaking out and Wild isn't telling Legend anything, and I realized I could make it a shapeshifter who is luring Legend away. Guys, guys please.
I'm trying so hard to suppress my angst/whump mind, I'm trying to do fluff, please.
But if I did this whump, it would make things so much worse.

Guess who just posted for the first time on AO3?
By accident Kara ended up in the future and met milf Lena. Now she's back and needing to face present Lena.
It's short, it's silly, and it's inspired by @sango-blep comic!

It's interesting to think about how the Problem might unite the different Christian denominations. I don't know if it would erase all the problems/conflicts/arguments on doctrine and so on and so forth, but I'd like to think that different churches would come together to help the larger community against this new supernatural threat. It would be interesting to see new collects for child agents in the Prayers of the People in Anglican liturgy, cross-denominational fundraisers for orphans and widows, new systems for adopting or taking in those who've lost parents/spouses/siblings/caretakers, church basements turned into shelters, the way priests might bless houses, how the exorcists might function within the agency frame, Catechism classes adapted for the young agents' schedules, adjustments and changes to prayer books, the added weight of mourning during Lent and Advent, what services during Holy Week and Hallowtide would look like...

fuck it friday
hello no one tagged me but i'm having too much fun writing maddie's pov to buddie over the years so here's a snippet anyway lmao
“And then,” Buck says, for approximately the eighth time in twenty minutes. “Eddie just- pulls the grenade out of the guy’s leg. Like it’s nothing! Like he does this kinda shit every day! Which- I mean, maybe he did? In the army? I don’t know; he didn’t talk much about it.” Maddie feels her eyes go wide and she’s not quite sure if it’s incredulity at Buck’s story or Buck’s whole demeanour. Because he’s somehow gone from bitching about the new guy being cooler than him to beaming in wonder. “That sounds really dangerous,” she says because reaching for her big sister instincts is the easiest response she can think of. “Did you really agree to get in ambulance with him just so he wouldn’t upstage you at work?” Buck pulls a face around a mouthful of lasagne, waving a dismissive hand. “Mads, that’s not the point. Besides, me and Eddie worked things out after that.” She raises an eyebrow. “You did?” “Uh yeah,” Buck says and then, inexplicably, he ducks his head and almost looks bashful. Whiplash would be less disorientating than this conversation. “He called me a badass,” Buck admits, sounding not unlike his nine-year-old self revealing Ashley Gomez called him handsome. “And then he said I could I have his back any day.” “So you’re…good now?” she asks uncertainly. “You two are getting along?” Buck nods eagerly and the beaming grin is back. “Oh yeah. Y’know I think Bobby might’ve even hired him on purpose? I’ve never had a partner at work before.”

[ID: Four sets of images featuring Ace Attorney fanart with Detective Conan and Magic Kaito characters. Shinichi is in Conan form for all of them.
1 - A pen sketch of Kaito Kid on the witness stand, in the style of the game. He is frowning. His text box says, "The lights came back on... and the man was dead in front of me."
2 - A pen sketch of Phoenix rubbing the back of his neck, smiling nervously and looking up. He is saying, "I don't suppose you can summon spirits?" The second part shows Shinichi looking up with an exasperated expression, saying "Huh?" as Phoenix says off-screen "Just kidding..."
3 - A digital sketch of Phoenix and Shinichi sitting on the couch in the defense lobby. Shinichi is leaning over to look, annoyed, and Phoenix, equally annoyed and exasperated, is saying, "Uh... I hate to ask, but weren't you handcuffed a minute ago?" The second part shows Kid, not handcuffed, leaning his head on one hand and smiling, saying "Hm?"
4 - A mock text conversation between Sonoko (the sender) and Ran (the receiver). Typos have been corrected; Ran's words are in all caps and Sonoko's are lowercase except for "believe."
Sonoko: Ran i'm in the courtroom now and u won't believe who's here
Ran: ?
Sonoko sends a blurry picture of Phoenix and Shinichi from behind, sitting at the defense bench. In front of them is Edgeworth at the prosecutor's bench.
Ran: Is that conan
Sonoko: Yeah lmao why's he here? Also both the lawyers look like nerds. Oops judge says no phones ttyl
End ID.]

(originally in response to another post, I just liked this IDK)
... I use writing as my coping mechanism. I write out whatever I'm feeling at the time and try to explore those feelings as much as possible, and after I've written a first pass, I can write around in the arc depending on what that current feeling is.
And... I've rarely gotten writers block. I've gotten anxiety and have despised my writing, yes, but I do not find a loss of words that often.
~Giving the writing a purpose for yourself (ie - comfort) makes it easier to not people please and have fun with it.
And if you are using writing as a coping mechanism, if you find that you cannot write forward, feel free to go back to a previous part that you can expand on with the feelings you are feeling now.
This may not work for everyone! But using writing as a coping mechanism has helped me write along with getting me through the lowest lows of my life.
(Just make sure to have a 'write whatever low energy' project, because coping mechanism projects tend to be very personal and at times draining. Poetry, another form of art, short stories, or a nonsense story works for this)
Well wishes to you all! (why'd that sound christmas-y?)
