DPXDC Prompt #61 Part 5
There were two new arrivals to the dining room. Both with black hair but one of them had an odd white stripe, the stripe reminded him of his hair in ghost form.
The one without the stripe sat next to Tim and the other one sat next to Danny.
“You weren’t kidding when you said they looked identical,” the guy without the stripe said, “Names Richard Greyson, but you can call me Dick”
Dick had a bright smile on his face, it was clear he was a morning person.
Damian made another ‘Tt’ noise at his introduction.
The guy with the stripe in his hair grunted in agreement before holding out a coffee mug for Alfred, who was already standing next to him ready to pour. He took a swig before speaking, “Names Jason, you may look alike but seeing Damian eat meat, even from an alternate universe is weird.”
Danny took a bite of his bacon and swallowed like he was making a point before speaking, “I go by Danny, I faked my death years ago, as far as I’m concerned we were all strangers in my world.” He started, he took a moment to think about exactly how’d he explain everything. He knew it wasn’t exactly a pretty story but he also knew from the stories Talia told him when he was younger that Bruce was all about planning ahead, so keeping information from  him might not be the best way to go about all of this.
He took another bite and swallowed before speaking again, “My foster family is fine though, I have a roof over my head and food. They spend most of their time in their lab working. They study Ectology, or the study of ghosts.” Jason raised an eyebrow at this but didn’t say anything. Danny continued, “They actually succeeded in building a portal to their realm, the realm of ghosts, or Infinite Realm as we call it.”
“We? You say that like you're one of the ghosts” Tim asked laughing a little bit.
He quickly got silent when Danny wasn’t laughing with him.
Damian made another ‘Tt’ noise before speaking, “Clearly this imposter has lost it, ghosts don’t exist and all of this nonsense is just that nonsense.” He glared at Danny.
Danny smiled at him and it caused Damian to falter a little before he glared at Danny again.
“Yes, Ghosts are real,” Danny sighed before continuing, “Trust me, it sounds crazy but I’ve seen some crazy things in my world. Although now I’m wondering if just showing you guys would be easier… Alright I’ll show you all but know that no one except my sister knows. Secret identity and all.”
“Wait,” Dick interrupted, “Does Robin not exist in your world?”
“Robin existed but there hasn’t been a Robin since Joker murdered the last one.” Danny answered.
Everyone fell silent at that and the atmosphere got heavy. Everyone, especially Jason was giving each other knowing glances.
Danny cleared his throat before continuing, “Anyways, yes ghosts exist, unfortunately the portal in this world probably doesn’t work like my own world. It’s been about a year since I turned it on and since I was here in Gotham when they tried it in this world there’s no telling what they did after it didn’t work. Actually now that I think about it, I wonder if they exist here,” he thought about the GIW in his world and it occurred to him. If ghosts weren’t running rampant in Amity Park, they probably didn’t exist here.
He brought out his phone from his pocket and looked it up. His eyes lit up a bit at the information he found. Or more accurately the information he didn’t find. Searching GIW in this world brought zero results, so great he wouldn’t be hunted for existing here.
He let out a sigh of relief at this. He turned to everyone and they were watching him closely. He gave them a small smile, “It’s been a while since I had a moment where I didn’t have to worry about being hunted for existing.” He explained. He figured he might as well get the conversation out of the way no matter how difficult it was.
Everyone at the table was silent as they waited for him to continue. The tension was thick in the air however, you could tell that even though Danny had just arrived everyone was ready to jump to defend him, even if he wasn’t their Damian he was still part of the family even if he had just arrived into their lives. It cemented Danny’s determination to tell them the truth.
He took a deep breath and then spoke again, “The portal didn’t work at first when they tried it, I of course wanted to help so when they were away I went in to see if I could figure out the problem… Long story short, it helps to build the on switch on the outside of the portal. I’m not proud to admit that even with all of my training, there were just too many cords that even I tripped.” He didn’t have to say much else about that as their faces told him they understood what happened. He gave a dark chuckle and continued, “Yeah hurt like hell but I don’t have to worry about losing anything anymore.” He then took his phone and phased it into his chest.
The room went silent again for a moment, but it was broken by Jason who started cackling.
He wheezed for a moment before he got out, “I’m sorry, I wasn’t ready for not Damian to make a fucking pun!”
Meanwhile everyone else was still too stunned to speak. Finally Damian surprisingly spoke, “What else can you do?”
Danny smiled, this was going to be fun.

"It's for your own good," Ellen scolded as she parked the car in front of the school, a frown resting on his features as he rolled his eyes at his mother, "I'm being serious Jack, school is important, there is no hockey if you aren't putting up your best efforts in class, and your coaches agree with me."
His mother had put him in tutoring after receiving an email detailing his recent grade in history; a few slip-ups in his assignments led to a failing grade. Everyone was treating it like it was the end of the world, but now that his mom was threatening hockey, he knew that he needed to do anything to get it up as soon as possible.
"Whatever," he unbuckled himself and got out of the car, a frown on his face as he looked at his mother one last time, "this is so embarrassing," he said before slamming the car door shut out of annoyance and heading into the school. He could hear her muffled voice rise through the window of the car followed by a fit of Luke's laughter as she drove off in the direction of the rink where his younger brother's practice was being held.
This was not how he wanted to spend his Saturday morning, he thought to himself as he entered the library he looked around at the tables full of students, laptops and books cluttering the desks as he searched for the girl he believed to be named "Yvette," a tutor that one of the other mom's had recommended to his during a home game a few weeks ago.
He found one girl, sitting in the back of the room, her head down in her textbooks and her curly hair in her face, he warily approached as he searched her table for any little sign that might tell him whether or not this girl was the one he was looking for. "Yvette?" he said quietly, the girl looked up from her book, a smile pulling at her lips as she nodded. "Yes, you must be Jack," she ushered for him to take a seat beside her as she organized the mess of books laid out in front of her. "Yeah I am," he grew shy as he watched her cheeks heat up at their now closer proximity.
His heart was beating in his chest, he couldn't help but feel a mix of nervousness and embarrassment. Yvette seemed friendly enough, she was also the prettiest girl he'd ever seen, but Jack couldn't shake the feeling that this whole tutoring situation was an unwanted intrusion into his life.
"Let's get started, we can go through your history assignments and figure out where you might be struggling if you're comfortable with that?" she smiled sweetly as she flipped her notes open to the pages that highlighted the chapters covered in his assignment. He nodded, words caught in his throat, his hands clammy as he rummaged through his bag for the crumpled-up piece of paper, embarrassment growing in his chest that she would be reading his poor work.
She explained everything with ease, Jack nodded and hummed in agreement every few minutes, still not confident enough not to stumble over his words. His eyes kept leaving the sheet in front of them and landing on her face, he examined the perfect roundness of the apples of her cheeks, his face grew warm as he peered down at the plumpness of her lips, she was the epitome of beautiful, even in the dark and stuffy corner of the library.
By the end of the session, Jack had not only learned and gained a bit more of an understanding, but he was pretty sure he was in love with his tutor.
"I think that's good for today," she whispered and looked at the boy who was lost in space, "how are you feeling now Jack?" she asked as she began to pack up her things. Jack, snapped back to reality, and stammered, "Oh, uh, yeah. I feel... good. I mean, better. Thanks, Yvette." His cheeks turned a shade of red as he realized he had been caught daydreaming.
"It's Eve, by the way, I assume we will be spending a lot of time together, so may as well get you on a nickname basis," she smiled sweetly once again, and Jack was a goner, nearly melting in his seat. "Okay Eve," he said with a grin tugging at his lips, trying to keep his cool. Little did he know she was internally freaking out at the way her name just casually rolled off of his tongue.
"So would next Saturday, same time work for you?" her brows furrowed before he clarified, "For our next session I mean," he laughed, cheeks a bright red as her face broke out in realization. "Oh yes! Of course, it works perfectly" She smiled and opened her planner, writing down a "Jack" in one of the Saturday time slots with a smiley face in pretty pink pen ink causing his heart to leap in his chest. "Perfect, thank you again," he said quickly, shoving everything back into his bag and heading out of the library in search of his mother who was waiting for him in the parking lot.
Ellen grinned as she held up a red Gatorade for him, a nice peace offering as he got into the car, "so how was that, wasn't as bad as you thought?" "I think I just met my future wife," he deadpanned, causing Ellen to go wide-eyed.

Jack had been waiting for this game since the beginning of the season.
The Usntdp boys would finally play against Umich, a battle of the oldest Hughes brothers, Jack's first time going against Quinn. It was monumental, it felt like one of the biggest games of the season, it was gonna be everything.
He and Trevor did their pregame rituals, which consisted of a stupid intricate handshake followed by a very dramatic chest bump and then they were ready to take the ice.
His eyes searched the ice after doing a few laps and practicing some shots, Quinn stood next to Josh stick-handling the puck before he looked up to his younger brother and grinned. The two Hughes boys met at center ice, smiles on their faces after not seeing each other for a few months and hugged.
"Ready to get your ass kicked?" Jack teased his older brother as Quinn looked to the stands with a confused look. "Who is with mom?" he asked slyly pointing to the Hughes family, a girl in a USA sweater sat in between Luke and Ellen.
Jack's face immediately warmed as she looked at him, sending him a short wave before being pulled back into conversation with his little brother.
"Oh my god dude, you are as red as a tomato, who is that girl?" Quinn pressed again as he de-gloved in his and poked Jack in the cheek. Jack pushed his hands away, the redness on his face growing by the second, "that my friend, Eve, she tutors like half the team" Quinn's brow raised as he looked back up to the girl who had moved her conversation over to Jim and Ellen who were showing her something on Ellen's phone, "is that the one mom told me about, future Mrs Hughes?" "Shut up."
The whistle blew and alarmed both teams to skate back to their respective benches, Quinn tapped Jack with his stick once again, "Get ready to lose Rowdy," he grinned before skating back in the direction of the boys in Maize.
Jack's eyes found their way back to her in the crowd, her face breaking out into a grin as she looked back to him, her hand pointing to his number on her sleeve and then throwing him a thumbs up. "My god dude, you have heart eyes," Alex startled him as he ran into Jack pulling him back into the game and towards the bench
After the game, Jack couldn't shake the excitement coursing through his veins. The adrenaline from the game blended with the thrill of playing against Quinn and the presence of Eve in the stands had him on some sort of high. He left the locker room with a grin on his face, despite the loss on ice, the thought of spending the drive home with Eve had his heart racing.
He spotted her chatting with his family, his young cousins crowded around her legs as she examined the doll in the little girl's hands, his entire family seemed to have taken a liking to her, and Jack couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth seeing them get along.
Eve looked up and caught Jack's eye. She flashed him another mind-melting smile, and he couldn't help but walk a bit faster to get to her. "Sorry about the loss J, you played amazing though," she said as he pulled her in for a hug, his eyes connecting with Luke who was making kissy faces behind her but was stopped by a glare from Ellen. "It's no big deal, Quinn is never gonna let me live it down though," he pulled away just as Trevor and Cole found their way to the girl.
"Eve!" Trevor yelled out as he pushed Jack out of the way and smothered the girl in his chest, "I didn't know you were gonna be here!" Jack let Trevor's voice fade away as he approached his mother and father, who both congratulated him on the assists.
"You played great sweetheart," Ellen said as Jim hummed in agreeance, Jack smiled as his eyes travelled back to the girl who was now chatting with Spencer, "Eve is a sweetheart, you should ask her over for dinner sometime," she watched as he nodded still staring at the girl. "Yeah Mom maybe," he mumbled as he looked back to Jim who was staring at his son with an amused grin. "Okay go grab Eve, we are gonna say bye to Quinn and then head out, okay?" Jim laid the plan out and Jack nodded as he looked back to the girl, watching as she interacted with the people closest to him.
He was in so deep.

A knock on the door startled Eve out of her thoughts, tonight was the night of her date with Jack, the spring formal.
Her mom stood excitedly beside her, camera in her clutches, as the door opened to reveal a smiling Jack. He wore a burgundy suit, it complimented her blush-coloured dress perfectly, his smile wide as he whispered a quiet “hi” and handed her a corsage that matched the flower pinned to the chest of his jacket.
His face was a bright red as well as hers, but the quiet moment was ruined by a loud, “No hello Trevor? I see how it is!” which snapped her right out of her thoughts and into reality where she saw Trevor looking at her with glaring eyes. Her mom watched equally as confused as her daughter as Trevor rambled on about being late, and the rest of the boys waiting in the car.
And that's when it clicked, Jack thought she asked him out as friends.
“Can my mom just take one photo,” she asked quietly, pointing to her mom who was silently waiting with a camera still in her hands and a warm smile on her face. “I won't take too much time,” her mother said quietly as she pushed the three of them together. Trevor found his way in between them and wrapped his arms over their shoulders to push them all closer together.
Eve heard the clicks of the camera followed by a “Perfect, have fun!” to which her mother shooed them out the door and towards Jack's beat-up car.
Trevor ran as fast as he could and hopped in the passenger seat, a loud “Z, Eve gets front seat, remember,” followed as Jack ran to the driver side of the car. Trevor hit the lock button on the door and stared at the girl through the window, a grin growing on his face as she looked to the back seat to see Alex giving her an apologetic look.
“She's wearing a dress dude, she needs the legroom,” Cole said looking at her dress and giving her a thumbs-up as Trevor let out a loud groan. “Fine!” She said a short “sorry” as he got out and held the door open for her as she got in the car. “I'm only playing with you Eve,” he shut her door and squeezed himself into the back seat.
Jack looked over at her with apologetic eyes before his eyes lingered back down to her dress, “you look pretty,” he said with a sweet smile. Her heart hammered in her chest as Jack's eyes found hers once again, "you look very handsome, I like the suit," she whispered, cheeks a bright red as Trevor started to blast Mr. Brightside over the radio.
She looked back at Alex and Trevor who danced around in the back seat, Cole taking a Snapchat video while laughing along.
This was going to be a long night.
And it was very long, but in the best way possible. A night full of laughter and dancing, shared smiles, and creating memories.
A slow song played over the speaker, which made all the couples make their way to the gym floor, the lights dim and the strobe lights bouncing off the walls and the decorations as people swayed along with the music. The group stood awkwardly, everyone other than Cole, who was off with some girl he had been talking to at the time, were staring at their feet waiting for the song to end.
Alex made eyes at Jack, catching his attention, looking from the boy to the girl who stared out at the couples on the dance floor. Jack's eyes went wide as he watched Alex motion for him to make a move, his heart starting to beat faster as he somehow convinced himself to walk over to her. "Wanna dance?" his hands awkwardly shoved themselves in his pants pockets as she wordlessly agreed with a slight nod.
He took her hand and led her to the edge of the dance floor, his hands resting on her hips as hers found his shoulders. It was tense and awkward, but it was so sweet, his laughter sounding through the entire gym as he continued to fuck up his steps, her smile bright under the dim lights.
It was perfect.
"You wanna know something funny?" she whispered as she looked him in the eyes, he nodded, his tongue darting out to wet his lips as he swayed her back and forth along with the music. "When I asked you to the dance, I meant it as a date, not just as friends," she watched his face fall as he stopped their movements. "Obviously you don't see me that way, which is fine, but I-" "You wanted this to be a date?" he cut her off, his face growing into a grin as her lips formed a straight line, "I'm so stupid," he mumbled as he ran a hand through his hair, a nervous habit of his.
Eve couldn't help but feel a mix of embarrassment and relief at his reaction. "No, Jack, you're not stupid. It's just... I thought you knew. The corsage, the suit, I mean, it all seemed pretty obvious." "No Eve I just ruined this, I wanted it to be a date so bad, but I thought you meant as friends so I took the boys 'cause I didn't think you saw me like that!"
"Take a deep breath J, It's okay, you can just make it up to me," her fingers played with the hair at the back of his neck to calm him down as they began to sway once again. "Yeah?" "Maybe dinner? Soon, hopefully?" "Yeah, dinner, maybe a movie?" she nodded sweetly.
Her eyes dipped down to his lips as the song came to an end, she leaned in but was stopped as he pulled slightly away, "I can't kiss you, not now, I want it to be perfect when I do, and romantic," he whispered as she shook her head at his stupid antics. She pressed a kiss to the high point of his cheek, on her tiptoes, hands on his shoulders to better balance herself, "You're such a dork, Jack," she whispered as he looked over to his friends all collectively giving him a thumbs up behind her back.
It was perfect.
★★★★
Summer was beautiful on her, her hair unruly with the most perfect curls, and her cheeks were dusted with freckles. He didn't know she could get prettier, but she continued to amaze him every time he saw her.
They sat in his car, her hand in his as they drove along the coast of the beach, her attention was on the sun that was beginning to set along the lake. The water is like glass, the reflection of the sky dancing on the gentle ripples of the water.
"You know what would be good," he lowered the volume of the music. She looked at him, mesmerized by the way the tan on his cheeks made his eyes an even deeper blue, "what?" she asked, her eyes bouncing around his face, admiring his side profile as his eyes landed back on the road. "Ice cream," he shrugged as she hummed in agreement, her hand squeezing his as he turned into the small student-run ice cream parlor next to the beach.
They stood in the short line, her hand still in his as he ordered their cones, him ignoring her as she offered to pay, and then finally, they found themselves situated on a picnic table. Watching the couples strolling along the sandy beach, dogs running around, and others soaking in the last few moments of sun before it was too late.
"That's an abomination to ice cream flavours," he said as she ate her mint chocolate chip ice cream right off the cone, her head leaned against his shoulder as she looked up at him with furrowed brows, "it's like toothpaste and chocolate flavoured, you're a freak for liking it!" She sat up straight and scoffed, "Says you, you're eating Vanilla!" "What's wrong with Vanilla!" "Face it, you're so boring baby," the nickname rolled off her tongue so naturally as she watched his lips pull into a grin.
One second they were staring at one another and the next his lips captured her in an all-consuming type of kiss. Sloppy, and a little rushed, but so perfect. She scooted closer to him with her free hand finding his bicep as she slightly moaned into his mouth as he nipped at her bottom lip.
The ice cream fell right out of her hand and onto the grass which pulled her away from their previous activities and had her staring at the melting scoop on the ground.
"Shit," she looked at Jack who was laughing at the unfortunate fate of her ice cream. "See, even your own body rejected it!" she shook her head at his stupidity, her hand finding the back of his neck, "shut up dork," she mumbled before kissing him once again, this time much slower and a little gentler as he smiled into her lips.

Ellen sat in the driver's seat of the family van, Jack to her right as they drove to his morning practice. It was a little past eight in the morning, and for some reason, his chest felt funny, the pit of his stomach was tense, like he was expecting something bad to happen.
"Oh shit!" Luke said from the back of the car, pulling Jack's attention from his phone to the road. "Watch your language!" Ellen scolded as she looked in the rearview mirror to glare at her youngest.
Jack's eyes focused on the blue Volkswagon being loaded up onto a big tow truck, the passenger side of the car concave in, and his heart was in his stomach as he realized how familiar the car was. The crochet steering wheel cover made his ears begin to ring as he noticed the distinctive sticker on the bumper.
It was Eve's car.
His knee began to bounce as he dialed her number, the phone rang in his ear as tears blurred his vision as they passed by the car, his eyes not leaving the aftermath of the accident and following it long after they passed it.
The ringing stopped, no answer.
He called again
He couldn't breathe, his chest heaving slightly as his hand pulled at his hair as he continued to look at the car.
"God, I hope whoever it is, they're okay," Ellen looked in her rearview to look at the state of the car once again. "That's Eve's car," Jack mumbled as he was met with the dial tone once again, so he called for a third time. "What was that honey? You're being quiet this morning." "That was Eve's car," he said a little louder, which had Ellen gasping as she looked at her son who looked on the brink of tears.
Finally, Eve's phone picked up.
"Jack?" Eve's mother's voice came through the phone, sounding very calm, almost too calm in comparison to how Jack was feeling. "Is Eve okay, I just saw her car, I-" "She's okay, she was on the way to the school and someone ran a light, but she is okay, just getting some tests done, but nothing too bad"
A weight lifted off of his chest as the words left her mother's mouth, she could hear his shaky breaths over the phone, "If it will help your nerves you can come down to the hospital and come see for yourself that she is okay." Jack took a moment to compose himself, grateful for the offer. "Yeah, we'll head to the hospital, thank you" he looked to Ellen who nodded her head and switched into the lane en route to the hospital.
The car was tense as they drove to the hospital, the initial shock and worry began to subside, but the thoughts of 'what ifs' began to bounce around in the back of his mind. The image of Eve's damaged car lingered in his mind, a stark reminder of the fragility of life.
Ellen pulled into a parking spot and parked the car, her arm reaching out to stop her son before he got out in a panic. "J, you need to take a breath, she's okay, you can't go in there freaking out, she is gonna be a little shaken so you need to calm down," she squeezed his hand as he nodded along with his mom, wiping the dried tears from his cheek as she pressed a kiss to the side of his head, "We'll find her, and everything will be okay. Let's go."
As they entered the hospital, the atmosphere was sterile and busy. Jack's mind raced with worry, but he focused on the idea that Eve was alive and in good hands. He approached the reception desk, and Jack hesitantly asked, "I'm here for Yvette Liu," his voice was slightly shaky as the receptionist's face broke out into a soft smile "You must be Jack," the receptionist checked her computer and nodded, "her mom said you'd be here soon, she's in Room 123. You can head up there," she pointed to the hallway.
Jack's steps quickened as he followed the signs to the room. The anticipation built with each step, and when he reached the door, he took another deep breath before entering.
Inside, Eve was sitting on the hospital bed, looking a bit tired but otherwise unharmed. Her mother was in a chair beside her, engrossed in her phone. When Eve saw Jack, a smile brightened her face, and she held out her hand for him.
"Hey, J," Eve said, her voice soothing as she looked to Ellen behind him and waved, her mother saw the older woman and stood up to go and speak to Ellen and give the two a second to themselves. Eve patted the bed beside her, her hand grabbing his as he took his spot beside her, "I'm okay, just a minor concussion, but no broken bones!" she tiredly rejoiced as he leaned forward to brush her hair from her face. Jack nodded, swallowing hard to push back the emotions threatening to overwhelm him. "I was so scared, Eve. When I saw your car like that, fuck, I couldn't bear the thought of something happening to you." Eve gave him a warm, reassuring smile, "I know, J. But I'm here, and I'm okay, just a little shaken up," she raised his hand to her lips and pressed a kiss to his knuckles He couldn't help but let out a shaky laugh, relief aiding his nerves as he ran his thumb over the back of her hand, thanking the universe that she was okay.
"Thank you for being here J, for caring so much" He leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead, "Always, Eve," he almost held it back but a gentle "I love you," rolled off of his tongue which took her back a little, cheeks a pink shade as she smiled at his confession. "I love you too," she replied, her eyes sparkling with affection.
As they shared a quiet moment, Ellen and Eve's mother hovered, their conversation seemingly deep as they peered through the hospital room window at the intimate moment their children were sharing. Eve pulled back slightly, looking at Jack with a playful smirk. "Looks like our moms are conspiring over there. Probably planning our wedding already," she joked, which had Jack's face a bright shade of red as he looked up at the women who now pretended to look anywhere but at the young couple.
Jack chuckled, feeling a weight lifted off his shoulders. "Wouldn't put it past them," he squeezed her hand.
The room filled with a sense of love, as Eve ushered him to lay down on the bed next to her, her head leaning against Jack's shoulder, the two took comfort in each other's presence, grateful for the moment of calm after the storm.
★★★★
"It's here!" she said over the phone, her voice filled with excitement.
Her Rutgers letter was in her hands, and her phone pressed up against her ear as Jack's excited voice sounded on the other end.
"Do you need me to come over and open it with you?" "No! Cause if I don't get in I'll cry, and I don't want you to see me like that," she said in a joking tone, but she wasn't joking at all, if this letter started with a simple 'we are sorry to inform you' she was pretty sure she'd have a breakdown.
"You are so down on yourself pretty girl, you are gonna get in, cause you are the smartest person I know," his words were so genuine that it made her heart skip a beat, "you're gonna get that degree, and be the cutest elementary school teacher there has ever been." "God you're a flirt," she whispered as her thumb ran over her name and address. Jack chuckled on the other end of the line. "Well, if it works, then I'll keep doing it. But seriously, Eve, you've got this. You've worked so hard, and I believe in you."
She took a deep breath, feeling a mixture of excitement and anxiety. "Okay, I'm going to open it now. Wish me luck!" Eve carefully tore open the envelope, careful of the latter on the inside, her hands shaking slightly. Her eyes quickly scanned the contents, and a gasp escaped her lips, "holy shit J, I'm in, I got in!" Jack's cheers echoed through the phone. "I told you, I'm so proud of you, Eve!"
Once she calmed down she grinned, "You know what this means, we will both be in Jersey in a few months," she whispered, a lingering thought that had been in the back of her mind since the order of the draft had been determined a few days prior. Jack laughed on the other end, "That's only if I go first." "And if you don't you'll be second and in New York, so really either works for me," she teased as she listened to the melodic sound of his laughter on the other end.
"You really have everything planned out?" "Can't a girl dream? I just wanna think about being in school and pursuing a degree, and my hot superstar boyfriend being in the same city as me," she teased as she held her acceptance letter up against her chest as she leaned back on her bed. Jack chuckled, "Well, you're in luck because your superstar boyfriend is all for making your dreams come true. New York, New Jersey or wherever I end up, we'll figure it out."
The silence settled over them for a second, the realization that they were growing up, and growing together dawned on them as they let the news sink in.
"Okay enough about the future, right now I'm going over there to celebrate with you and we are gonna grab dinner or something," he said hopping off of his couch in search of his keys. "Okay, drive safe, love you!" "Love you too pretty girl, so proud of you," and with that he hung up, leaving her a blushing mess as she sat up and headed to the living room to share the news with her family.
★★★★
"Are you nervous?" she whispered, the two of them hidden away in the bathroom of their hotel suite, his tie in her hands as she helped him get in. "Yeah I am," he said slowly, his eyes flicking between her and the door, the cameras and the stress of today already starting to add pressure. Her eyes left the tie hung around his neck and looked up at him, her hands cupping his cheeks, "Where ever you end up you're gonna do amazing, and I'm so proud of you, whether you're first or last, you're everything me and you hope you know that," she stood up on her tip-toes and pressed a kiss to his lips.
Jack's tension seemed to ease a bit with Eve's words and the comforting touch of her hands on his cheeks, he looked into her eyes, grateful for her unwavering support. "I don't know what I did to deserve you, Eve."
Her lips curved into a small smile as he leaned into her touch. "I love you, you know that?" "I do," he replied, his eyes filled with affection. "And I love you too."
The draft was a blur, from sitting with Luke on the bus to watching Jack walk the red carpet, it was overwhelming, she didn't know how he was handling the stress and pressure of it all so well. Finally, they found their spots in the stands, his mother and brother sitting beside him, and her only a few chairs away.
The tension in the air was noticeable as they waited for the commissioner to walk up onto the stage. Eve's eyes never left Jack, observing the subtle changes in his expression as he talked to his family members and the occasional draftees and friends that came up to him in anticipation for their names to be called– the nervous twitches, the deep breaths, and the occasional glances toward where she sat, he was stressing.
With the opening speech concluding and New Jersey on the clock, the Hughes family grew tense as the organization made their way to the stage. She held her breath the entire minute of them organizing themselves before the general manager stepped forward and found himself in front of the mic. And then, finally, the moment arrived. Jack's name echoed through the arena, and the crowd erupted into cheers.
Luke and Eve hopped to their feet, hugging each other as they looked at the boy who made his way down the row of his family members, hugging and thanking all of them before he landed in front of her. She pressed a short kiss to his cheek as he pulled her in for a hug, "so proud superstar," she whispered, eyes filling with tears as he swayed her back and forth. "You know what this means," he pulled away to press another kiss to her temple, "we are both gonna be in Jersey, it's happening," he said as she nodded and sent him on his way to the stage, occasionally being stopped by friends and former teammates to congratulate him on his way up to the stage.
The cameras flashed, and the crowd's cheers intensified as he was presented with his new team's jersey, he was a devil now. She caught Jack's gaze from across the room, and in that moment, the world seemed to slow down. He pointed towards her, a wide grin on his face, before the first draft pick headed into the media room.

Ellen squeezed the young girl’s hand as the announcer called out Jack’s name for his rookie lap.
The couple had both made their moves to Jersey, she resided about forty minutes away at university, and he lived with some veteran on the team as he waited to figure out his rooming situation. It had been smooth sailing for both of them thus far, she made it through orientation and frosh week, and he survived training camp, the two of them flourishing as they settled into their newfound independence.
“He looks so good out there,” Eve whispered as she watched him skate around the ice. “Imagine if he fell,” Luke laughed but was met with a glare from his father.
The Jack chants lasted a few more seconds before the light came back on for the rest of the players to be welcomed onto the ice for warmups.
“Did you meet any of his teammates?” Luke asked as he watched Jack talking with other players. Eve nodded, “Only briefly, Nico and Jesper were nice, PK took me and Jack out for dinner.” “That's sick!”
Eve looked at Ellen with a smile, nerves radiating off of her, "it’s a good group here," Eve commented, Ellen looked at her with soft eyes, "It feels like a big family." The woman nodded, thankful for the young girl’s words as she squeezed her hands and continued to watch the boys down on the ice.
After the game the entire Hughes family waited for Jack in the family lounge, the family buzzed with excitement to get their hands on the rookie, excited to celebrate his big moment. Jack was the first one out of the locker room, a grin on his face as he saw his mother and father chatting with a few other wives and parents who were also in attendance, then he saw a shy Eve a little away from the rest of the group her eyes staring at the floor. She looked up at her boyfriend, a grin on her face as he walked over to her and pulled her into his arms.
“You did amazing,” her arms wrapped around his shoulders as she squeezed him tightly, “sorry about the loss,” she mumbled as he pulled away, the smile still very apparent on his face. “It was only one game, and it was pretty close,” she was a little taken aback by this new found attitude, but she summed it up to the adrenaline of his first ever professional game, “It's a long season, and we'll bounce back. Besides, having you here makes everything better," Jack replied, giving her a quick peck on the forehead before he headed in the direction of his family.
As they left the arena, Jack slipped his hand into Eve's, a content smile on his face as it dawned on him that this was his life from now on, hockey, Eve, and Jersey, and if he was being honest there was no place he would rather be. Eve felt his grip tighten a little, and she looked up at him with a knowing smile.

Eve sat on the arm of the couch next to her boyfriend, a grin on her face as she looked at the TV, the 2021 NHL draft was underway, virtually due to the pandemic, and the Hughes family and co. were huddled around the couch waiting to hear Luke’s name called.
Fourth was the dream.
If Luke went fourth overall it meant that he and Jack would be together in Jersey, a possible childhood dream come true.
Eve absentmindedly played with the bracelets on Jack's wrist, a habit she had developed over the years. Each bracelet held a story, a memory, and they had become a familiar and comforting presence to both of them.
As they waited for Luke's name to be announced, she glanced at Jack, finding a mix of nerves and excitement in his eyes.
“You excited?” she whispered as the Sabres called Owen Power’s name, the air tensing a little more. “Is it selfish of me to want him to go a fourth?” he asked, looking from the screen to his loving girlfriend who just shook her head with a smile. She pointed to the youngest of the Hughes brothers, his fingers tracing the Devil’s logo on the hats in front of him, “I think he wants it just as bad as you,” she whispered as she leaned toward him, pressing a kiss to his hairline as the Kraken announced their pick, being Matty Beniers.
With every passing pick the room grew a little quieter and a little more tense, by the time the third went and the ducks announced Mason Mctavish’s name the entire household was silent.
Devs on the clock.
Jack squeezed his girlfriend’s hand as the camera flashed to the Devils organization standing on a stage in front of their adoring fans, “Luke” and “Hughes II” signs lining the crowd as the general manager approached the mic.
And with that, Luke’s name was called, and the entire house erupted in screams, Jack being the first to his feet, vibrating with excitement as he pulled his brother in for a hug, Quinn’s smile never wider as Luke hugged everyone in his family before pulling one of Jack’s jerseys over his head and placed the Devils cap on his head.
Luke maneuvered his way around his family members to hug his, basically, sister-in-law. “I’m so proud Lu,” she squeezed him as he swayed them back and forth, “I can’t wait to see you and Jack on the ice together." Luke grinned, excitement in his eyes. "It feels like a dream,” he pulled away to watch her face break out into a smile, “having Jack there too, it's just amazing." “Well it’s not a dream, and we can’t wait to have you in Jersey,” she watched as his grin grew even wider before he pulled her back into his chest.
Eve watched as the Hughes family celebrated, their cheers and laughter filling the room. Jack, still buzzing with excitement, made his way back to Eve, pulling her into a tight hug, "I can't believe it," Jack exclaimed, his eyes shining with elation. Eve grinned into his chest as her arms wrapped around him, her heart swelling with happiness for both Jack and Luke.
As the draft celebration continued, Luke made his way back to Jack, a Devils jersey proudly displayed over his shoulders. The Hughes brothers shared a moment, exchanging words that went beyond the reach of the buzzing cameras and the cheers of the crowd.

The smile had not left her face since her education degree was placed in her hands, from dinner to drinks, surrounded by family and friends celebrating the end of her education journey as she began to venture out into the adult world.
By the end of the day, her cheeks hurt from the seemingly never-ending smiles and her eyes were heavy with exhaustion. Jack’s chest had been full of pride and excitement the entirety of the day, loving the night of celebrating the girl he loved most.
As they finally found a quiet moment together in the solace of their shared apartment, Jack gently wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a warm embrace. “I'm so proud of you," Jack whispered into her ear, his voice filled with genuine admiration as she pressed a kiss to his jaw.
The two of them migrated to their room, he helped her slip out of her dress, his hands resting on the soft skin of her hips as he pressed a kiss to her shoulder, then her neck, and then on her lips. She smiled into his lips as her hands wrapped around his neck, as he helped slip her bra off and slipped one of his oversized t-shirts over her head, pulling away for just a second to get the shirt over her head and then kissing her once again.
“I really wanna continue this,” she mumbled against his lips as her hand cupped his face, “but I'm so tired,” she whispered as he smiled into her skin, face dipping down to the rest of her shoulder as he nodded along with her. “Let’s go to bed then,” he whispered against her skin before stripping himself of his dress pants and shirt and slipping on a pair of sweats.
She crawled under the covers, her entire body sinking into the soft mattress as the stress and bustle of the day left her body. Her head found comfort on his chest, hands intertwining with his, resting against his abdomen. She smiled at the gentle rise and fall of his chest, she could hear the faint thrum of his heart, she let out soft breaths as she felt his thumb begin to draw little patterns on the exposed skin of the small of her back.
With a tender gaze, Jack looked down at the woman he loved, her eyes reflecting the fatigue of the day but also the undeniable joy that lingered. The soft lighting in the room accentuated the warmth of the moment, the lights outside the window peeked through the curtains and illuminated her face as Jack examined how perfect she looked in that moment.
“I’ve been thinking about the future a lot today, our future,” she whispered as her hand squeezed his, “and I can’t imagine a future or even life without you in mine,” she pressed a kiss to his chest. A warmth spread through Jack's chest as he absorbed her sentiments, “would it be crazy if I said that I want to marry you?” "Crazy? No" Jack replied, his voice filled with genuine happiness as he sat up a little to reach into his bedside table.
"I was gonna give this to you this summer at the Lakehouse,” he sat up a little more, her sitting up as well and facing him with tears in her eyes, “I went to your parent’s house a few weeks ago and asked for permission to, cause I wanted to do it right.” “Yes I’ll marry you,” she wiped away her tears as he laughed at her quick response. “You didn’t even let me ask you,” he whispered as he opened the tiny velvet box in his hands.
She gasped at the sight of the delicate gold ring in the box, an amber gemstone adorned the band, her hand flew up to her mouth, the silence her gasps and tears as she looked back up at Jack. “Will you marry me?” She didn’t respond this time, rather she reached out to gently cup his face to capture his lips with hers.
“You didn’t answer me this time,” he mumbled against her lips as she laughed at how all over the place she was. “Of course I’ll marry you J,” She pulled away to see him just as tear-eyed as her, and with a smile that reflected the promise of a shared future, Jack took the ring and delicately slid it onto her finger.
The room, now filled with the glow of their shared happiness as they whispered short words about how much they loved one another before falling asleep in one another’s arms.

Jack stood in the classroom doorway, a shy smile on his face as he watched her in her element, children surrounded her on the rainbow carpet as she read aloud to the thirty-something students who all listened attentively.
“Can I help you,” her educational assistant stood in front of the dopey-smiled man who held a lunch bag in his grasp. “Yes sorry, I’m her fiance, she left her lunch at home,” he said with a nervous grin as the woman nodded and let him in.
Their eyes met across the room as she gave him a soft smile but turned back to the pages of the book, pride filled his chest as he watched her from afar, talking so gently to all the little ears listening to her every word.
It was great to see her living out her dream
“You must be Jack, a hockey player right?” he nodded, “she talks about you all the time, it’s very cute,” she grinned as Jack’s face broke out into a deep shade of red. “She should only be a few more minutes, they have outdoor recess in about five minutes,” the woman added before continuing with sorting through the kid’s work from the day. He nodded thankfully as Eve wrapped up her book and instructed the kids to go out in the hall to get their jackets on in time for the bell.
Eve re-entered the class alone this time, a smile on her face as she looked to Jack who was leaning up against her desk, “You forgot your lunch, and I took a maintenance day so I thought I’d stop by and see your class” he smiled and placed the bag in her hands as she stood up on her tiptoes and pressed a kiss to his lips. “Thank you,” his hands fell to her hips as he smiled at her cute little outfit, a band t-shirt from the first concert they went to together, tucked into the waistband of her midi skirt that hugged her curves in the prettiest ways.
“I met your co-worker, and she was telling me about how much you talk about me,” he teased, watching as her cheeks reddened just slightly as she shrugged. Her hands moved up to fix the messy unkept curls on his head that she had been begging him to cut, “that’s just Emma, she likes to gossip,” she smiled widely as he nodded. “Still, you like to talk about me,” he squeezed her hips as she pulled away to sit at her desk and start eating her lunch.
Jack grew distracted as he looked around the room, the toys, the little shoes, all the colours, his mind wandered to her with the kids, she seemed to glow with passion as she read to the little ones on the couch.
“What are you thinking about?” she poked his thigh as she began to unwrap her sandwich, offering him half. He took it and looked back at her, “just about you, and kids,” he confessed as she looked at him with wide eyes. “Like me teaching, or me with a baby?” “Both I guess, you just look so in your element when you are with kids, it’s cute,” he shrugged as he bit into the corner of the sandwich.
Eve stared at him wide-eyed, “Do you, do you want kids now?” she whispered, almost as if it was a secret just between them as if they weren’t the only people in the room. “Not now per se, you just started working and we’re busy, but I wouldn’t hate to have kids at a younger age,” she nodded as he looked at her with hopeful eyes, “only if you want to though, I’ll have kids whenever you want kids.” “I wasn’t aware you wanted kids,” she smiled, “not that that is a bad thing, I love kids, and I want to have so many babies with you. Just maybe in a  few years,” she said which gained a nod from him.
Jack leaned over and pressed a kiss to her lips, “whenever you’re ready I’m ready,” he grinned as she pulled away a little breathless from the surprise of his lips on hers, “okay now what other snacks did you pack with you?” he asked as he began to dig through her lunch bag. A gasp left her lips as she watched him steal the bag of pretzels, “You’re such a mooch!” “But you love me,” he said in a sing-song voice as she laughed at how cheesy he was.

She stared at the pregnancy test on the counter, face down as she leaned against the counter, fingers massaging her temples. This couldn’t be happening right now.
With the playoffs just on the cusp of starting and the stress of getting Luke moved in and settled she completely lost track of herself, and now she was staring at a face-down pregnancy test on her counter.
She had just gotten her life together. The couple had decided on a longer engagement because of their lack of time to plan, she only had a steady teaching job for a little under a year, too much was going on in their lives, and she was not ready for this type of responsibility
A minute remained on the timer, and her heart had never been beating so hard in her entire life as she watched the seconds pass by.
She listened as the boys entered the apartment, Jack yelled out a loud “Honey we’re home,” which immediately added pressure onto the pile of stress that was building in her chest.
“Oh god,” she whispered as she flipped over the test to reveal a second line, one of her hands covering her mouth to silence the quiet cries leaving her lips as she felt the stinging of tears staring. She blinked them away, her mind going a million miles an hour as she tried to calm herself down, comforting thoughts of Jack and his excitement to have kids flashed through her mind as she stared at the stick.
A quiet knock startled her out of her thoughts, “you okay in there?” “I don’t really know,” she said weakly. “What can I do to help you?” he asked softly from the other end.
She opened the door to reveal her shocked state, the pregnancy test in her hands as she looked to Jack who just looked at it with wide eyes, “You’re pregnant?” She nodded and walked into his arms, his chest quieting her cries as he just held her, “I'm so scared,” she whispered as he pressed a kiss to her temple. “What are you scared of?” She dried her tears and opened her mouth to answer, instead becoming choked up by the tears in the back of her throat. Let's sit down and just talk about it,” he said, pulling away to go and shut their bedroom door so Luke couldn't hear the topic of conversation.
They sat on the edge of the bed, she pressed the test into the palm of his hand, Jack couldn’t help but smile softly at the thought of having a little Eve running around.
“I don’t know, I feel scared. This is a huge responsibility, and our lives are already so hectic, and I just finally got my shit together–” “Hey," Jack interrupted gently, "we got this, okay? We're a team. And no matter what, we're in this together,” she took a deep breath and nodded, “that being said we can go see your doctor and figure out our options if this isn’t something you wanna do yet,” he felt her nod, his hands ran through her curls, gently massaging her shoulder as he pressed a kiss to the side of her face.
They were in the doctor’s office at the next available date, Jack sat in the uncomfortable plastic chair of the doctor’s office as the women squeezed a generous amount of gel on Eve’s bare stomach. The young girl’s hand held his as they watched the tiny image appear on the screen. The doctor spoke very calmly as she informed them of all the things taking place during the early stages of pregnancy.
“Would you like to hear the heartbeat? If you’re comfortable of course,” the woman asked as she looked at the young couple, Jack looked to his fiance for the answer to which she softly nodded her head. The heartbeat was fast, it had Jack grinning as he looked up to see the tears in Eve’s eyes, a little smile adorning her face as she watched the screen with soft intensity.
The doctors stepped out for a second to give the couple some space, “we are gonna be parents,” Eve whispered, her eyes still on the screen. “Yeah?” “Yeah, you're gonna be a dad,” she whispered, her tone a little more sure as she finally looked Jack in the eyes, the two of them in tears as he squeezed her hands, he stood up and leaned over the bed to press a kiss to her hairline. “You're gonna be the best mom ever Eve, you are amazing,” he whispered as she wiped away his tears and looked back at the screen.
They got home that night and spent the entirety of the rest of their day talking about the future, sharing their fears, hopes, and what all of this meant for the years to come. Jack reassured her, promising to be there every step of the way. As they talked, the initial shock transformed into a soft understanding of what their life together was growing into, to embrace the unexpected with open hearts. The fear didn't disappear completely, but it was replaced with a growing sense of excitement and eagerness to face whatever lay ahead.

The summer came slowly, the devils exited the playoffs in the second round after a good run, and everyone headed back to their hometowns for the off-season.
Luke flew back to Michigan for the summer, Quinn was off doing his own thing for a few weeks, and Jack and Eve stayed in Jersey for her to finish out the school year all while getting an early start on getting the apartment ready for the baby being welcomed into the family around the new year.
Come to the end of June the entire Hughes family now found themselves back at the Lakehouse, summer was in the air once again, and everyone was ready for the next two weeks of relaxing before summer training started up once again.
Eve had it all planned out, hiding the baby was starting to get hard as she began to show and the boys continued to point out her lack of drinking over her first week off. She made dinner for the Hughes family, Jim and Ellen drove up for the first weekend, all of their babies were in the same household for the first time in nearly a year, and everyone was ready for a weekend of good quality family time.
Eve had a stack of sonograms packed away in her suitcase, each in a little envelope for each member of the Hughes family.
Ellen rounded up all of the boys into the dining room and helped serve each of them, all of them were starved after a day of golfing at the country club just across the lake, so they had no issues finding their way to the table and digging in as soon as their plates were placed in front of them. Conversations flowed as they talked about their summers so far, they attempted to talk hockey, but Ellen shut that down, pulling the no hockey at the dinner table rule that she had when they were still living under her roof.
Jack held Eve’s hand over the table, the two of them a little nervous but so excited to share the news of baby Hughes.
“You’re quiet today,” Quinn looked to his sister-in-law as she just shrugged and continued to sip off her water. “We actually have something to give you all,” Jack picked the envelopes from the ground beside his chair and handed them out to his family members.
The second the envelope landed in his mother’s hands she knew exactly what was inside, “you’re kidding,” she ripped the paper envelope and revealed little scans from their ten-week appointment, “oh my god, is this real?” Eve nodded which elicited a chorus of surprised and excited exclamations from the Hughes family.
Quinn stared at the sonogram for a moment, his eyes widening in realization. "Wait, seriously?" he asked, looking between Jack and Eve. Jack beamed with pride, nodding. "Yeah, Quinn. We're having a baby” Quinn's expression shifted from shock to a wide grin, “holy shit that's incredible!" he exclaimed, reaching over to give Eve a gentle hug, "congratulations!"
Each family member opened their envelope and saw the sonogram, each reaction a mix of surprise, happiness, and love. Ellen wiped away a few tears as she hugged Eve tightly.
Jim Hughes, typically a man of few words, looked at the sonogram, then at Jack and Eve, and just nodded which for some reason felt a bit like a stab, but the couple just shook off his lack of reaction.
Luke, who had been the last to open his envelope, stared at the sonogram in his hands with wide eyes before breaking and looking up at his brother, and the woman who had become his older sister, “you guys, I’m almost in tears,” he got up from his spot at the table to hug his brother and sister-in-law, “I'm going to be an uncle!" he declared, hugging his brother and sister-in-law.
Later that night Jim walked outside to see Eve curled up with a book in her hand, snuggled under a blanket on one of the patio couches, her mind not focused on the book but rather the way the sunset looked on the lake. He took a seat beside her startling her from her peace, she jumped a little and looked at the man who gave her an apologetic look.
They stared at each other for a second, it was always a little tense between them, not for any particular reason, just simply because they were both rather reserved individuals. “I’ve always thought of you as a daughter, I hope you know that,” he said lowly, she was a little taken aback by the vulnerability, “I know I don’t show it, but you mean a lot to my son and family, and I’m really glad that you and Jack found each other.” Eve smiled, eyes lined with tears as she nodded along with his words, “You guys are gonna make really good parents.” “Thank you Jim, and thank you for raising such an amazing son,” she whispered as he motioned for her to come over and hug him.
They stood there for a second, awkwardly embraced, Jack and Ellen stood inside on the other end of the kitchen window with wide eyes.
“I think he felt bad he didn’t say anything at dinner,” she whispered as Jack’s attention remained on his fiance and father who sat back down and continued their conversation, “he cares about you two, and he is really proud, he just doesn’t know how to express it,” and with that Ellen pressed a kiss to her son’s cheek and headed in the direction of the living room.
Jack stayed there watching, eyes welled with tears as he witnessed the quiet, heartfelt moment between Eve and his father.

Eve laid in bed, her face broken out in a smile as she felt her baby girl kick, “Jack,” she whispered, waking him up from his nap, his hand in her grasp as she pressed his palm to her stomach. “Did you feel that,” she whispered as Jack’s eyes fluttered open. "Yeah, I felt it," Jack mumbled, a mix of awe and sleepiness in his voice. He rubbed his eyes and focused on the gentle movements beneath his hand.
Their baby girl seemed to have a mind of her own, making her presence known in the quiet moments. Jack smiled, a deep sense of connection settling in as he felt the kicks beneath his palm.
"She's active today, huh?" he said, his voice filled with tenderness. Eve nodded, her eyes fixed on Jack's face as he experienced the magic of the moment. "She's going to be a little hockey player, just like her dad." “She can be whatever she wants, as long as she's happy and healthy,” he whispered and propped himself on his elbow to gently place a kiss on Eve's bump.
Eve watched him with adoration; the anticipation for their daughter's arrival filled her chest as Jack's hand remained on Eve's stomach.
“Can I ask you a question?” he looked up from her belly to her eyes, looking at him with so much love as she nodded, “is it bad that i'm a little scared to be a dad?” Eves smiled softened as her hand traveled down to caress his cheek, “it's not bad at all, I'm so nervous about all of it, but we are a team, and we're gonna figure it out together,” she answered honestly, her hand moving from his cheek to running through his messy bed head. Jack's gaze met hers, and he took a deep breath. "I just want to be the best dad for her, you know? I want to make sure I’m the best for her." Eve nodded, her thumb back to tracing comforting circles on his cheek, "and you will, Jack. You already love her so much, and that's the most important thing.”
Jack nodded at her words, chest feeling a little lighter from the vulnerability, his hand moving from her bump to hold hers, pressing light kisses to her knuckles, “I’m the luckiest guy ever, you’re perfect,” he whispered as he leaned over to kiss her on the lips. They lingered in the quiet afterglow of their shared vulnerability, surrounded by the anticipation of their growing family.

“She’s so little,” Jack whispered as the nurse placed baby Mei in his arms for some skin-on-skin contact, his voice full of emotion as he stared at his daughter who looks like a spotting image of her mother.
Eve watched her fiance through tired eyes, “she's perfect,” she smiled as Jack looked up at her on the verge of tears. “You did this,” he whispered, amazed, filling his tone as he looked baby down at the cooing baby in his arms, marveling at the tiny fingers and the soft, peaceful expression on her face. The weight of responsibility and the beauty of the moment seemed to collide for him, and he felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
“You should try and get some rest.” Eve shook her head and continued to watch Jack and Mei’s first real interactions, “how am i meant to sleep when you have your shirt off like a slut and you're holding our baby,” she teased which made him smirk at her forwardness. “You think I look hot like this?”Jack chuckled, as he heard a hum of agreement. Eve grinned, feeling a surge of warmth at the playful banter despite the tiredness, "you're certainly rocking the dad look right now.” Jack rolled his eyes in mock offense. "You love it." "I do," Eve admitted with a soft laugh. "I love everything about this," she motioned to his current state.
Eve fell asleep soon after, the stress of the night and exhaustion taking over caused her to drift off just after Mei’s first feeding.
Jack sat quietly in the corner of the room, Mei in the bassinet provided by the hospital, his hand bed gently stroking his daughter's cheek as she quietly cooed at the feeling of her father’s touch. “You look just like your mama,” he whispered, her face following the sound of his voice, as if she recognized him which made his heart leap in his chest. “My baby Mei, there is not a thing in the world i wouldn't do to protect you, or give you,” he picked her up and gently placed her back on his chest.
Jack's voice softened as he continued to speak to his newborn daughter, "I never thought I could feel so much love for someone I just met," Jack whispered, his gaze fixed on Mei's delicate features. "Your mom and I, we're going to give you the best life."
As Mei nestled against Jack's chest, he marvelled at the tiny human, a creation of his and Eve’s love. The weight of responsibility blended seamlessly with the joy of fatherhood, filling his whole being as he continued to watch his baby.
In the dimly lit hospital room, a new family was born – a family bound by love and the shared journey of raising their beloved daughter

TULIPS (2) — a König fic.
❱ this 'might' be the last part but we'll see. Since I am working on a König fic on Wattpad :D also I cannot create c.ai bots at the moment since I have like, 4 hours of waiting time smh. this is unedited! errors might be seen please bear with me ! ➴ SYNOPSIS — After taking the hit for him, you wake up without memories of him, nor the incident. He tries desperately to retrieve your memories.
Tumblr media
LATIBULE — (n.) a hiding place; a place of safety and comfort.
How did this happen,
How did our memories vanish before your very eyes?
Have I lost them forever?
Have I lost them with you?
Will you find it in you to fall in love with me the second time around?
“Do you remember these, hm? [name]?” He shows you the pictures, holding them out one by one. Each and every photograph you took together, he remembered dreading those but he would always be happy to see your smile each time he agreed,
“You would force me to take one specific picture, to show our future family! We have a lot by now we—we…” he paused, staring at you.
“We had a lot of memories.”
You looked back at him, feeling your headache ever so slightly crack you head while you looked and observed the pictures. Closely looking, trying to find a speck of remembrance, a sign that you remember. Instead you got nothing but the skull crushing headache.
The doctor had released you for a week now, after the dischargement you both had gone back to the base. You took time to get used to everything, since you have your complete memories except for when you’ve joined the KorTac factions,
In your mind, you still think you’re a trainee who volunteered for the military.
Memories after that are as visible as a blur. Not even a blur, they were just gone. It was a trauma response, the doctor says. You could still remember the look on König’s face as the doctor explains. He looked defeated, almost lost.
But ever since then, he hasn't given up.
He would visit your quarters, picking you up for meals at the mess hall, wishing you goodnight for whenever you’d sleep. He didn't miss a single night,
The soldiers had asked him why you were not sleeping in one room, they claimed you both fought really hard to be permitted to do that. König simply responded that you needed space as you are still trying to retrieve the memories he spoke of, you were grateful for that, he’s willing to distance himself,
Of course it pained him, without you beside him he cannot sleep properly.
But for your sake he pulled through, hugging the shirt you left in his quarters. Holding it close to his face every night, taking in your scent, missing the times when you’d be beside him at night, running your hand through his hair as he dozed off.
Right now you’re with him, outside of the base, away from the guns and military equipment. The captain had convinced you to try, to try to remember him. The captain made sure to let you know just how agonizing this is for König, telling you how much he cried and telling you that he’d never seen König act as such.
You felt terrible,
Because of your incapability to remember, he suffered. Yet when he faces you, he's always got this slight smile, always has a glint of adoration in those pretty green eyes of his.
You found yourself fond of it once again,
Again?
“This… I always force you to take these?”
He grinned, nodding eagerly. “Mhm, every month, without fail.” he spoke so proudly of it, you almost felt a sense of pride spring upon your forgetful heart. You nod in response, looking at the pictures once again,
“König?”
He looked back up at you, “hm?”
“I’m sorry.”
His smile fell and he dropped the pictures carefully on the table, sitting closer to you but far enough to not cause any discomfort. “For what, liebling?”
“For this,” you mumbled, avoiding his eyes. “For forgetting.”
“Dont—dont ever feel sorry alright?” he spoke, not being able to control the urge to hold your hands. And so he did, placing his hand on yours soothingly. “It's not your fault, never has and never will. You did that for me, and I’m just—just so happy you're here, and proud of you. So so proud, schatz, that you managed to survive that. You did so well,  my love.” he rubbed the back of your hand using his thumb, looking up at you with nothing but genuine eyes. “I love those memories,” he paused, “but not as much as I love you.”
“So there is no need for sorrys, liebling, we can retrieve your memories but if I lost you that day, there would be any possible way to get you back.” He spoke quietly yet you could hear him very clearly, it is then you realise just how much he loves you. This man is willing to set aside the way you've just forgotten every memory with him, and is glad to still have you here. His only fear was losing you,
Suddenly the headache is gone, replaced by the dawning realisation. “We’ll make new ones okay? New memories, just as we did before.”
Just how could you forget his eyes?
“If you’ll just let me, I know I'm not more than a stranger to you right now but if you'd just let me in your heart again, I'll surely—”
Just how could you ever forget the blossoming emotion of being in his arms?
How could you ever forget that voice of his which lovingly calls for you,
How could you have forgotten the plans to grow—
“Tulips.” He looked at you with wide eyes. “What did you just—”
“The tulips, König.”
Tears stained his eyes as he sat unable to form a word. He looked at you and only you, letting the emotion surge through his body, letting himself cry for you once again. “We promised to plant the tulips.” Together,
Right König? Our tulips, Just like we promised. In our small house with leaf,
Of course I’ll remember.

You had been friends with Zuko back when you still lived in the Fire Nation. You had grown up alongside him and his sister, Azula, as your father was on of the Firelord's more trusted generals.
As a young child, you were never very interested in playing games with Azula and her friends. You preferred spending quiet time with Zuko around the palace.
Zuko never understood how he felt about you.. Of course he liked you. The two of you were friends, best friends even. But, did best friends make a fiery red blush rise from your face to the tops of your ears? Did a best friends cause your heart to stop beating every time you got lost in their eyes?
Even now, as his golden eyes met yours, his heart felt as if it would beat out of his chest. He carefully studied you as you sat in the corner of the tea shop. You had changed. Your hair was different, maybe a bit longer than he remembered, and you had swapped out your red Fire Nation clothes for a simple green dress -- an Earth Nation staple. Most notably, your bright eyes had remained the same.
You studied him as well. This Zuko was much different than the boy you knew as a child. His hair was much shorter, and his once warm golden eyes had grown dull. You wondered, how had he ended up in a Ba Sing Se tea shop of all places? After his banishment from the Fire Nation, you weren't sure if you would ever see him again.
"Uncle, we have a problem," said Zuko as he approached his uncle behind the front counter, "Don't look now, but over in the corner table, it's (Y/N)."
Iroh swiftly turned to glance at your table. He recognized you in an instant. His mind was flooded with the memories of you and Zuko growing uo together in the palace.
"Uncle!" Zuko scolds, "Didn't I say don't look? Now they're gonna know that we're onto them."
Before Iroh could respond, you walked up to the counter with a small bag of coins in hand.
"Thank you for the tea, Zuko," you said politely, "And you too general Iroh."
Zuko felt heat rise to his ears. He had always though you were pretty, and seeing you up close was starting to make him a but flustered. "But why?" he thought to himself. Were friends supposed to think of each other that way?
"You're welcome," said Zuko with red checks, "But you can't call us that here. I go by Lee. And my uncle is called Mushi"
"Sorry!" you said quickly, as your face flushed with embarrassment, "I didn't even think that you would go by different names here. Speaking of which, what are you doing here anyway?"
"Well," Zuko said, "It's not really something we can discuss here."
"My nephew is right!" Iroh said, jumping back into the conversation, "Why don't the two of you go out tonight and discuss how both of you came to be in Ba Sing Se?"
At Iroh's suggestion, Zuko turned even redder, if possible.
"I like that idea," you said shyly before turning back to Zuko, "I know a restaurant in the city if you'd like to go there."
"Yeah..that sounds...nice," Zuko said quietly, "I can meet you in front of the tea shop tonight."
"Yeah," you said with a grin, "See you tonight."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After it had gotten dark, you stood outside of the tea shop waiting for Zuko. As you waited, you began to hear muffled voices from inside the shop.
"i'm not so sure about this, Uncle," said Zuko hesitantly "What if they end up hating me after I tell them. I don't want to lose them again."
"Do not worry Zuko. They have a god heart, and so do you. Now get going. You're going to be late."
"Hi," you said as Zuko walked out of the tea shop, "Are you ready to go?"
"Yeah," said Zuko, rubbing the back of his neck nervously, "Lead the way."
The two of you walked in an uncomfortable silence. The tension between you could be cut with a knife. After a brief walk, which somehow felt so much longer than the short 10 minutes, you came to a stop outside of a small restaurant.
"This is it," you said awkwardly, "Do you wanna go find a table?"
"Sure," said Zuko, before you fell into another uncomfortable silence.
"So," you said after you had settled in your seats, "What are you doing here in Ba Sing Se anyway? I thought you were looking for the avatar."
"I am!" Zuko said quickly, "But Uncle and I got a bit sidetracked. Azula's after us."
Your eyes widened in shock.
"Azula? But what could she want from you? She's already next in line to become firelord."
"My father," said Zuko quietly, "He sent her after me and the avatar. He doesn't seem to think my efforts to capture him are good enough."
"Of course," you said in a rare burst of anger, "I should have known your father would do anything to prevent you from returning to the Fire Nation. That's part of the reason I left, you know."
"Really?" said Zuko curiously.
He had always wondered what made you leave the Fire Nation. Although he had already been banished at that time, he had heard through letters from the Fire Nation that you had run away shortly after his father sent him to find the avatar. Selfishly, he couldn't help but think that you had left for him.
"I never really agreed with the Fire Nation's teachings," you said honestly, "I always wondered why we were taught that our way of life was better than everyone else, when, truly, each one of us should be seen as equals. But when your own father challenged you to an Agni Kai, I realized that we really weren't the heroes the Fire Nation said we were. We were the villains. I came out here to try and make a difference. I can't just stand by while our people destroy the world and everyone in it."
Zuko's gaze met you eyes and he saw the many emotions swirling inside of them. Most importantly the fiery determination that he hadn't seen since childhood. As your words sank in, he though about how he and his uncle had ended up in the city. Unlike you, who, through your unwavering need to help others, had worked the make life easier for the people whose life had been torn apart by the Fire Nation, he had spent the better part of a month terrorizing innocent towns on his hunt for the avatar.
"I always wished I could be more like you, you know," Zuko said ashamed, "I always thought I was doing the right thing by tracking down the avatar, but after seeing all the damage the Fire Nation has caused, maybe I've been doing a lot more harm than good."
You smiled at him before softly cupping his face.
"You're not a bad person, Zuko," you said quietly, "I know there's good in you. You just need someone to help you find it."
You felt Zuko's skin burn under your touch, as you look into his golden eyes, which are filled with hesitation. As you leaned closer, you could hear Zuko's breath hitch as his breath caught in his throat. Zuko began to lean in, hoping you couldn't hear his heart beating at a thousand miles an hour.
Your lips finally connected, for a brief second, before you pulled apart, faces flushed.
"You, know," Zuko said quietly, "I missed you a lot after I left the Fire Nation."
You smiled softly.
"So did I," you said before gently pulling him into another kiss.

since you’re taking requests can you do a roy x tartt!reader, like jamie is readers younger brother and is super protective even though he’s the younger one? maybe roy didn’t realize that reader was jamie’s sister since they’re so different, idk your writing is immaculate so i’m sure anything to come up with will be great <3
(thank you so much! hope you like this!)
"So...are you nervous?" you ask Roy as you and he walk up to Ola's, the place where you'll be having dinner as well as the place where Roy will be meeting your brother.
Roy scoffs, "Fuck no. But you seem to be," he says, smirking at you.
"Maybe a little," Roy cocks a brow at you and you switch it up, "Okay, yes, a lot. Can you blame me? I haven't introduced a boyfriend to my brother is ages! And he may be younger than me, but he's incredibly protective of me. So don't let him get to you if he becomes too much."
Roy scoffs again, "I think I'll be fine." He opens the door to Ola's, gesturing you to go first. When you do, you immediately rush over into the arms of a man. When Roy follows you, he stops. He knows that head of blonde walnut mist hair. The man pulls away and, "Oh fuck off!" Roy yells at none other than Jamie Tartt.
You immediately turn to your boyfriend, "Roy!"
Jamie's brows furrow and then his eyes widen, "Wait, no. You-He-You're dating grandad?!"
"Your brother's this twat?!"
"You guys know each other?!" you look at the men with an equal amount of disbelief.
Jamie shakes his head, "Hold on. How did you not know that we know each other?" he asks you in confusion.
"Roy said he coached football. He didn't tell me it was for Richmond!"
Jamie then turns to Roy, "And how did you not know that she's me sister?!"
"You don't look alike and you don't share the same last name!"
"Well, we're adopted sib-"
"And she always referred to you as Jam Jam!"
You get in-between the two men, "Alright, let's just calm down. Let's sit and order a round of drinks because we clearly need it."
Roy and Jamie nod, glaring at each other as they join you at the table.
After ordering some appetizers and sipping on your drinks, you clear your throat, "Alright. So there clearly needs to be some clarification here."
You gesture to yourself, "To explain myself, yes, Jamie, I only referred to you as Jam Jam when talking to Roy because I don't like name dropping you in case people want to get close to me just because we're family. And Roy never really disclosed specifics about his job. Also, you know I never really cared much about football because of him. Mummy would only just update me about if your team won or lost."
Jamie is leaning back in his chair, arms crossed over his chest and pouting like a child, "It's just fuckin' weird. You're dating grandad! He's me coach and trainer!"
"I didn't know that, Jamie," you emphasize, "Besides, I really like him," you reach over and rest your hand on Roy's, "Can't you be happy for me?"
"Fine," he mumbles and then sits up, "You're me sister and I love you, so I'll approve of," he waves his hand over you and Roy, "this."
"She wasn't asking for your permission, you twat," Roy rasps out.
"Whatever," Jamie shrugs, "But if you hurt her, I'll-"
"You'll what?" Roys asks, egging Jamie on, "She's her own person. A grown ass woman. She can handle herself. Besides," he laces his fingers through yours, "I don't plan on hurting her any time soon. I feel lucky to be the man she chose to date."
You look between your brother and boyfriend, giving a satisfied nod, "Great. Glad we've got that sorted out!"

(Not) A Whole New World .pt2
A.N: part two of this , kinda inspired by all the Great Seven Au ('cause let's be honest, that AU has a lot of interesting things to play with
Part 3
The second time it happened you were 12 years old.
You were 12 and sure you weren't lost at all, yet you found yourself in a familiar forest.
Apparently you were back.
You were excited, so you started running towards where you knew the exit was.
This time you managed to notice that the forest was full of plants useful for potions, not that you knew how to prepare them – old Grimhilde would not let you until you understood the theory – but now some details stood out in your eyes that you would not have never noticed years before.
Once out of the forest you were convinced it would take little time to find the Trein Mason, but unfortunately you didn't seem to be in the Shaftlands anymore.
You started looking around, looking for something, anything, that would give you an indication, but again, like the first time, it was someone else who found you
“You look more like a lost puppy to me”
The voice came from a handsome man with two-tone hair, one side was black and the other was white; compared to Trein who was elegant but perhaps a little old-fashioned in clothing, this man looked quite fashionable, while retaining a certain elegance – and then that fur coat looked really comfortable.
A little embarrassed, you asked where you were and if you were very far from the Shiftlands
The man replied that you were in the Queendoom of Roses and that you were actually quite far from the Shiftlands.
At the new information you became concerned and the man raised an eyebrow
“ Don't you have a Mirror address, little stray? Because otherwise I will have to report the presence of a lost minor to the authorities”
At those words a feeling of anxiety and relief invaded you at the same time.
You had someone to contact, but you had no idea what the Mirror address was.
So you explained your dilemma to him and following the name you asked him to contact his gaze opened up a bit, but he didn't ask any questions.
Indeed, he told you to follow him and so you did, finding yourself in the study of his house, hoping that his mirror would do what according to the man - Divus Crewel - it was supposed to do. When its surface rippled you recognized the Trein home office, but it was not he who answered the call (?)
"Mr. Trein is not at home Professor Crewel, can report to me or prefer to be contacted"
Not even the time to get the man you automatically greeted to answer
"Hi Stacy"
And for a moment there was absolute silence, but the silence lasted just a moment to be replaced by a
“Drizzy! it's Y/N! She is back !! “ and other incomprehensible screams.
After a few quarrels between who should speak between the two and a few meows from Lucius – to which you answered under Cewel's interested gaze – Drizella asked you why you were in a completely different part of the world, how you came back to this world and much more and you very calmly answered
“As soon as I have the answers myself I will inform you”
You spent a lot of time on the phone with the two sisters who, in addition to updating you on their lives, also told you that they were about to leave, while Trein was busy with school.
They made Crewel make you stay with him
(“As if I could abandon a stray like that”)
If with Trein at the beginning you had to take a lot of courage to interact with him, Crewel didn't have the same aura and moreover
“Is that Ashwagandha? It's the first time I've seen it unprinted"
Crewel asked how you were sure you hadn't got the name of the plant wrong, since it was with others and you, all excited,
“Those are all herbs against stress, I could recognize them with my eyes closed…well, not yet, but Signora Grimilde says that I'm getting better at recognizing plants and that therefore I will soon be able to prepare potions that aren't just for health of my skin. But she doesn't have any Ashwagandha either, it's completely out of season for us at the moment"
And so, a bit like what happened with Trein, albeit with much less difficulty, you approached the magic of this world again, so different, yet so similar to the one you came from.
Crewel was as strict as Trein, but compared to the other man he didn't just compliment you when you were good at something.
( What a self- esteem boost)
You had discovered that Crewel was a colleague of Trein's and that they both worked - Crewel was getting ready to work - at Night Raven College a school full of 'off-leash puppies' according to Crewel.
Divus kept Trein updated on your improvements and Trein informed him about your abilities and your condition in your home world.
For quite a while you had continued to send letters to both Stacy and Drizzy and to Trein, but after a while a strange rectangular thing was sent to you by the two sisters and when you asked about it Crewel explained that it was a cell phone.
The man had left the task of instructing you on how to use that incredible object for you to your acquired sisters, and so you understood that that cell phone was used to communicate remotely with people, but faster than letters - which however you continued to send a Trein – and that there were small digital worlds called “apps” that allowed you to play games or take and share photos, among these, the app they recommended to you the most was 'Magicam' where apparently, in addition to publishing photos and videos it was possible to make "live events" and you could find other people who liked what you were doing and who could become "followers"
(Crewel enjoyed seeing every expression you had every time you discovered something new and ran to him for recognition, you were just a good pup, he thought you needed a little more confidence in yourself)
After a while Crewel started sending you on errands for him around the city, it was mainly about buying materials for his creations, whether it be potions or items for his fashion house – already several times you were was the tester of the new creations, Crewel couldn't let you go out looking like a stray – and during these mini adventures if you happened to see something that interested you, you photographed it and posted it on your Magicam, – you weren't famous, but it couldn't be denied that you still had a good following Not that you paid much attention to it.
It was during one of these errands that you ran into an old acquaintance who had become quite famous in the meantime.
“It was downright rude of you to disappear like that Potato”
Vil still had that critical look of him as he looked at you, but maybe he was right this time; from his point of view you had disappeared for a long time without showing signs of life.
You sent a message to Crewel telling him you'd be a little late and on Vil's advice you went to a little, little frequented cafe, and so Vil became your second… friend (?) – could you call yourself that? – to learn about your unique situation.
He later told you he was there because he was filming a series and would be staying for about a week, made you promise to see you at least one more time and gave you his number so you could stay in touch, at least while you stayed in this world.
Vil still had a bit of a brusque manner, but having grown up - and having dealt with Grimhilde who was even more brusque, despite a certain royalty - you definitely understood that this was, as Jack had said, Vil's way of being friendly.
You asked him if Jack was mad at you and he shook his head, almost annoyed, without deigning an answer
(Jack couldn't be mad at you, according to Vil you were his first crush, not that either of them would let you know)
He asked you if you had Magicam and once he knew your name he started following you and you did the same, shocked by the number of followers she had.
He told you that the number would probably go down a bit as he would put his star life on hold once he started school.
(After Vil's follow your followers also increased, and among them was a certain Cay-Cay who you would contact later)
In addition to the newfound – or perhaps formed was more correct – friendship with Vil, you got to know what you could have defined as your first crush, if you had recognized the signs of a crush
He was a guy older than you, with green hair and particular eyes that you would have defined as almost golden.
You had met him inside his parents' pastry shop - even if you had discovered it much later - where he had offered you a slice of wild berry cake "First time in here" and winked at you from behind his glasses , making you blush and calling that reaction "cute."
Whenever you could get into that cake shop you did, and every time Trey would put up an extra berry muffin for you for free, you didn't talk for a long time, but every conversation with Trey had something interesting.
It wasn't until his friend Che'nya called you both "disgusting" that you exchanged contacts
(Che'nya's messages were definitely spam but very funny to you, because they didn't make any sense at first, but then in some strange way, they acquired it)
Drizzy and Stacy were ecstatic when you talked about your friends, Trein and Crewel a little less.
During your time with Crewel you also learned the history of this world you found yourself in, with particular attention to the traditions of the Queen of Hearts – the fact that the aforementioned had instituted 810 rules amazed you more than it should have –
You got back in touch with Cater, who you'd contacted on Magicam, to let him know you were back indefinitely.
He had left you reading for 10 minutes, before letting you know how worried you made him.
Both Crewel and Trein forbade you to be on the phone with him more than two hours.
The two teachers – father figures – refused to jeopardize your health after the last time you lay sleepless after talking with Cater
Not Under Their Watch
And then, just like the first time, you found yourself opening your eyes to a room that was neither your room in the Trein house nor your room in the Crewel house.
No, this was your makeshift room when you stayed late at Grimilde's, but this time you were sure you hadn't dreamed it all.
You still had your cell phone. It didn't work, right. But it was with you in your world, where you were pretty sure there was no such thing yet.
It took some time before you set foot again in Twisted Wonderland, but in the meantime you became the apprentice of a rather ancient Fae who had heard of you from Grimhilde, who had introduced you to the great magicians of your world.
The Fae, who revealed her name to you after a long time, explained that your magic was some sort of hybrid of gray magic, but no one would want to teach someone who had negative magic in them in your world.
It was a big surprise when, trying to channel some of your magic, your cell phone turned back on and you saw that an unknown number – which you would later discover was Jack – had contacted you, and that Crewel and Stacy and Drizzy had also tried to get in. contact you ( Vil, Cater , Trey and Che'nya had contacted you, but more rarely)
You made your situation known and asked to inform Trein too that you were fine, you explained and told what had happened to you and what you had learned up to that moment.
You also went back to updating your Magicam, where no one seemed to notice that some of the things you posted didn't exist in that world
They say that all good things come in threes and the third time you found yourself in that forest you were 16 and had half an idea of what to expect.
Only that you were stunned when you found yourself in front of a school gates.
"Well, that's kinda new"

Rewind.
Miya Osamu x Reader, angst.
Warnings: cheating, gn reader, timeskip spoilers, and cursing :)
(theres also foreshadowing of suna x reader but we're gonna leave that for another time)
Wordcount: 1.3k
Read part one here and next part here.
How are you supposed to feel when somebody leaves you?
Sadness is given, anger is given, and regret...
Regret is circumstantial.
Weeks after you left the life of Osamu Miya, he still sits in his apartment, rotting in regret.
Why did I do it? Why didn’t I say no? Why didn’t I leave?
Would you still be here?
“Just this once”, he tells her, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear as they enter the hotel lobby. The hotel is in the middle of town, so he makes sure to cover his face as much as possible. The last thing he needs is to have someone recognize him getting into a hotel room with someone who very clearly isn’t his partner.
“Just a room for the night please” he speaks quietly to the clerk, sliding his personal credit card across the counter to her. “What name would you like it under?” she asks back with a smile.
He pauses for a moment, wondering if he should really go through with this. The part timer standing in front of him was not worth risking his years of marriage with you for, but he chooses to live in the moment and continue with it anyway.  “Atsumu Miya.”
-
He didn’t mean for it to turn out like this. The friendly banter during training was never supposed to turn into cheating on you. He never planned to take that girl into a hotel. He never meant for anything to happen with her.
How can he possibly tell you all of that when you’re not even around anymore? Every physical trace of you is gone from the house you once lived in together. Your clothes, your flowers, your cooking, all of it, it’s all gone. You had come back when he was at work and taken everything. He was heartbroken that day, coming home to a house that had nothing to show of your presence.
Defeated, he slumped into his bed . His eyes heavy, and dark circles prominent as he had lost countless nights of sleep without you next to him. He grabbed your pillow and hugged it tight to his chest, pretending that you were there, inhaling the last of your scent that still clung to it.
He wondered if you had eaten, or where you were staying. He also thought about giving you a call to ask about having a chat to work things out, but you had already blocked his number.
Instead, he choses to call someone he knows will be able to comfort him.
He calls his brother, Atsumu.
“You got some nerve taking this long to call.”
“So you know?”
“Of course I know. I’m your brother.”
the two sit in the call for a minute before Atsumu breaks the silence.
“Let’s meet tomorrow, coffee at our usual spot. Is 10 okay for you?” He asks.
“Yeah, see you at 10.”
-
Osamu can admit, he’s seen better days. His hair is unkept and his facial hair is overgrown. He can’t be bothered to deal with it all, it’s not important in his mind right now.
“Hey,” he says with a huff, sliding his body into the cushioned booth Atsumu was already sitting in, “you look good, did you order already?”
His twin gives him a nod, and lets out a sigh. He doesn’t know how to start this conversation; he doesn’t know how to confront his brother.
“ ‘Samu I don’t even know what to ask you, how could you do that? What happened?” he speaks, clearly frustrated.
“I don’t know what to tell you either ‘Tsumu. I didn’t want anything to happen with that part timer, I had no intentions of hurting y/n, you of all people would know that.” he says back. he’s talking as if you’re here. As if he’s finally getting the chance to explain himself to you, not Atsumu.
“It doesn’t matter if it wasn’t your intention, you still hurt them. Can you imagine what it was like to open my door to them with tears streaming down their face, barely able to form a sentence? Do you realize how painful it was for them for you to call her instead of comforting them that night? What were you thinking?” He argues, getting more frustrated with his brother.
Osamu sits their in awe of his brother. You have all been friends since high school, but he never knew that he had this kind of protective relationship with you. His mouth dries up, unsure of what to say.
“I don’t know what I was thinking. I don’t even think i was thinking that night. I panicked and called her to yell, to be angry. I didn’t want to take my anger out on y/n so I took it out on her instead, ok? Call me dumb and a fool for it but I thought it was the better thing to do in that moment.”
“Are you fucking stupid?”
Osamu’s eyes widen at the sudden change of tone. Sure, he and Atsumu have argued over the years, but he’s never gone this far. He has never used this tone with him before.
“You thought that calling the woman you cheated on them with was a better thing to do in the moment than to apologize, to explain, to do ANYTHING else?”
“Did you even apologize?”
He sits there. Reliving the night you walked out on him. Rethinking everything he said, and realizing that not once, did he say he was sorry.
He looks up at the other side of the booth. Atsumu’s hands are crossed, and he is clearly disappointed by his brothers reaction. It’s not like Atsumu didn’t know this. You had spent the night sobbing and reliving it over in his apartment. He had Suna go out and buy food for you and told you to stay for as long as you needed, even offering to move you in. He knew you were probably still at home with Suna crying in his arms, while he came out and dealt with his brother.
"You fucked up 'Samu." Atsumu sighs after letting this phrase out his mouth. It's been something that he has been thinking over for the past hour before this confrontation. Does he side with his brother or with one of his best and closest friends of his life? He knows that his brother is in the wrong, but blood is thicker than water, right?
"You think I don't know that?"
"I think you need to have someone else wake you up and tell you shit for real. At face value. You're here whining and complaining, doing absolutely nothing to actually fix the mistake you made. I know you can't fire the part-timer now because of conflict of interest and whatever power imbalance legalities there are behind that, but have you at least tried making boundaries with her? Have you made efforts to minimize your damage to Y/N? Have you tried doing anything but moping around and acting like with enough of it they'll feel some sort of pity for you and come back?"
Osamu feels like he just gotten slapped across the face by his brother. Maybe even more like a punch to the gut, or a stab in the back. He's left with his jaw dropped, and his head empty.
'I tried 'Tsumu! They blocked me on everything and I had- actually I still don't have any way of contacting them! I don't know if we're going to get divorced, or if they're going to come back and make me go to counselling . I don't know what to do."
"They're not coming back Osamu. You fucked up, hard. There is no coming back. There is no counciling. It's over. You threw it all away. You threw my trust away too. Why the fuck did you use my name on your hotel room?"
Atsumu huffs, realizing that there really isn't anything left to be said.
"I doubt there's really anything left, but I'll come over tomorrow to pick up anything Y/N may have forgotten to grab." He says before walking out the cafe and into his car.
Osamu watches this happen from the booth Atsumu was sitting in with him seconds before. He watches as another one of the most important people of his life walk out on him.
He is crushed to say the least.

Chishiya x GN!Reader
Genre: Angst (TW: Death, mentions of being stabbed by a glass shard, possibly rushed oneshot) Romantic In which Chishiya makes it out of the borderlands and remembers everything, including losing you.
["Lights are on But nobody's home"]
"Game complete"
The last thing Chishiya remembered was laying slouched against a car holding his bleeding side, then fireworks, then nothing.
The next thing he hears after being completely knocked out is the beeping of what he knows is a heart monitor. He opens his eyes slowly to see a doctor standing beside someone he couldn't make out yet, since his eyesight was adjusting to the lights; and he could slowly hear the doctors voice increase to more than just something muffled.
"..for a minute your heart stopped, as well as the person beside you. It's a miracle you're alive, you both were in the border between life and death."
Border. Life and death.
Chishiya's head turned to the side after the doctor left, coming face to face with a male with long black hair up to his shoulders. His eyebrows knit together in confusion. He felt like he knew who this was, but couldn't put a finger to it.
"Seriously? Out of all people, I have to be next to you?" The male mumbled, and Chishiya instantly recognized the sharp tone.
"Niragi?"
"Yeah, who else? Did you want it to be Y/N?"
Y/N?
Chishiya stared at the ceiling. Y/N? Who was that? Why did he feel a tug at his heart, hearing their name?
"That look on your face tells me you don't remember who they are." Niragi spoke up again, and Chishiya turned to him.
"You know, you guys were incredibly soppy. After that King of Spades game, you wouldn't let go of them, begging them to hold on because it was almost over. I never imagined you'd be capable to cry over someone" Niragi snickers
Then it hits Chishiya.
They were in the borderlands fighting the King of Spades, and Y/N had helped Arisu lead the King to the pharmacy, where they blew him up. He also remembered seeing Y/N tumble into the gravel, a glass shard protruding from their chest. He remembered holding them close, begging them to hold on a little while longer, because everything was going to be just fine.
He sat up suddenly, ripping the IV cords off himself and heading out ignoring Niragi's protests. He quickly walked down the hall, searching for the main desk.
He needed to see them, to make sure they made it.
"Excuse me, was there a patient named Y/N L/N here?" He asks urgently, and the nurse goes through the file. "Room 603-" Chishiya interrupted with a quick 'thank you' before hurrying off, not wanting to waste a single second.
Room 600, Room 601, Room 602-
"Y/N!" He burst into the room only to freeze in the doorway to see Kuina holding into their pale hand, tears in her eyes. He gave her a questioning look, and she shook her head slowly.
No.
"Chishiya.. they got them here safely, but they lost a lot of blood due to the glass in their chest. They were able to last through the week, but they were too weak today." She explained
Please no.
He went up to them, holding their hand. It felt cold and limp against his skin, and he held their hand to his cheek as he gazed at their peaceful figure.
One whole week. They were here one whole week, and he missed it.
<><><><>
He got discharged and headed home seeing his lights were still on exactly how he'd left it during the borderlands. He remembered taking Y/N here, how they'd hugged out the possible last few minutes of the games away. How they'd finally confessed their love for one another, after so long.
"Chishiya, what if I told you I loved you?" He glanced at Y/N, caressing their cheek, a small smile on his face. "What if I told you I felt the same?"
He wished he could've told them a little earlier, if only he hadn't wasted precious time secretly admiring Y/N.
If he did, would they be together? Would Y/N still be on the couch lazing with a book and hot cocoa, greeting Chishiya with a hug and a 'welcome back'?
Chishiya was home but it felt empty.
Empty, because they were no longer there.

25 Trinity Gate’s Do’s & Don’ts of Sex in Armand’s Bed
(or place representing thereof)
“Who’s your daddy?” will not be tolerated. “Who’s your mommy” will result in Lestat crying and while that doesn’t always ruin the mood, it does mean having to deal with it when there may be other plans for the evening.
The last person to use toys and equipment is responsible for making sure they are cleaned and put away properly. It’s not fair to have Louis do it, even if having them in alphabetical order helps when finding something.
Put everything back where you find it. The Georgian Library is not the proper place for a cat o’nine tails, even if I’m sure King George would have supported the efforts.
The list of safe words cannot be anything to do with parents, former masters or anyone else in the house who may hear it and come running. Sybelle is likely traumatised.
All blood is sacred and any spilled on bedding, carpets or any other surface must be licked up.
Lestat may not sulk if someone else is rightfully called a slut. He does not own the word and if he’s not being enough of one, that’s his problem.
Hair pulling is wonderful. Leaving hair you have pulled out on the floor so it gets tracked into the shower room is not.
Wearing pyjamas means you’re off-limits if you’re just not in the mood, unless you’re Louis. In which case, yes and no pyjamas will be negotiated by colour.
All dressing must be submitted for dry cleaning before sunrise. Explaining the strains on the cheerleader costume was very awkward and those pom-poms had to be thrown away.
Any cracked walls or tiling needs to be free of blood before someone is called to repair itt.
When Bianca stays, she has first choice of activities and who with. This is just politeness. You must also ask before borrowing her jewelery, I’m looking at you Lestat. Those pearls are not anal beads. Those are in the drawer under the bed.
Reading is not permitted during sex unless previously agreed upon. Remember how upset Louis gets when his books get bloody or their spines broken.
Don’t leave pornographic materials on in standby mode. Marius came over to discuss court business and thtings became very awkward, very quickly.
No lit flames, not even for the purposes of dripping wax. Find another way to do it. Those curtains were 16th century.
Do not poke someone in the shoulder and ask them to move over because you want to watch what’s happening with the person they are pleasuring or punishing. Move yourself, they’re in the moment.
Pinwheels must be washed and sanitised before use. It’s not about infection, it’s about rust. Same goes for vampire gloves, the material will be damaged.
If you are blindfolded, no reading of anyone else's mind is allowed. Sensory deprivation experiments only work if everyone plays along.
You do not bring another person into the bed without agreement from all parties. That includes that stray cat, it almost got thrown against a wall when it was discovered that wasn’t Armand purring.
Trains do not go up or in orifices without prior consent. It’s not being spontaneous, it's ruining their paint job.
Any collars must be lovingly maintained by their wearers. This is as close to a wedding ring as anyone is likely to get unless Lestat decides to have one of those mass marriages.
The Great Disney experiment is never to be repeated. We’re still finding glitter from fish scales in the carpet and that spinning wheel is an antique, not a prop.
The choking  is symbolic. We all know vampires don’t require breathing. Pointing it out will get you kicked out of bed.
No fake nails. We lost one up there and it still hasn't come out.
No pet names are to be used outside the bedroom unless agreed upon whether the person is wearing a tail plug under their clothes or not.
Other things that will get you removed from the bed: mocking Louis’ fuzzy rat socks, losing one of Armand’s rings in the sheets, smacking Daniel without asking for Armand’s consent first, breaking Lestat’s nails if he’s asked for them not to be, putting your hair in anyone’s face if they don’t like it, video conferencing the court while still naked in bed with everyone, smoking and not sharing (also bringing a lighter or matches, see the rule about matches), destroying lingerie and not replacing it, not properly securing the harnesses or breaking down the door (axe optional).

☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆
Her name is Ellie. She's been with her gang for a year now, and her favorite activity is driving through the city with her friends at night. She revealed she only has one parental figure, not her biological father but a father figure, which explains her taste in fashion.
Ellie somewhat resembles you more than your dad when you think about it. Both of you are the same age and spend most of your time doing things you enjoy, although she's more of a night owl while you're a morning person. Her favorite color is black, whereas yours is pink. She enjoys hanging out with people she bonds with, while you prefer solitude.
"Last Christmas with Joel, we decided to try decorating our house with cool lights, so we bought them and spent the evening displaying them all over the facade. We even got a little Santa with his reindeers and placed them on the roof. It looked really cool. But the next morning, everything was gone," Ellie admitted, implying she was just as reckless as you, but you disagreed.
"That's not just bad luck; you're just cursed."
Thieves weren't uncommon in the area, but catching them was difficult, as you were learning the hard way. That's why Ellie offered you a hand, claiming she had nothing else to do, although she felt bad for you. She didn't say it aloud, but she appreciated that you didn't accuse her of stealing your purse, and she would never forget that.
That is all you managed to get from her as you wandered around your isolated village looking for the thief that stole your purse.
You felt like a desperate mother searching for her lost child in the middle of nowhere. You could laugh at how desperate both you and Ellie looked, asking every single person you came across if they'd seen your precious item. But, with the luck you had, you were nowhere close to getting it back. Everyone gave you the same nerve-wracking answer: "sorry, I didn't see anything around, but if I do, I'll tell you right away".You were losing your patience by the minute, and Ellie could feel it.
"They all sound suspicious repeating the same thing",you sighed as you ranted. Yes, you were to blame, but no matter who it was, you were going to make them pay, a million times the price of your bag. There was no way you could let them get away with this.
"It's not like theyre actually going to say they stole it"
Both of you stopped walking, not only because you were tired but also because you had searched pretty much everywhere in this village. The clouds were hiding the sun, darkening the ground beneath, like your aura losing its brilliant colors and giving room to the darker ones brought by despair.
The only thing you could do was cry, but you were even too tired to shed tears. "I'm done."
Giving up was an option, but it wasn't part of Ellie's nature. "Maybe they don't live in this area."
"I dropped it in front of my house, and it's a small village in the middle of nowhere. How is it that out of nowhere, a thief popped up to get it?" Despite replaying this scene countless times, the lack of clues wasn't getting you anywhere. You started to wonder how someone could even do this to anyone; you wouldn't wish that upon your worst enemy.
It was just a purse, but you carried your wallet and your ID card with it!
It was becoming a serious matter
"maybe because thieves dont come out of nowhere, you're not thinking hard enough"
"are you saying I'm like a thief magnet or something ?"
ellie looked at you up and down not knowing if she was supposed to act surprise at your remark"how much did your purse even cost?"
she made you answer your own question confirming you were indeed a thief magnet,by dropping you purse you had actually dropped 5000 bucks on the ground !
who the hell puts that much money for a bag? Ellie thought
"that's not bad luck, you're just stupid," you could tell she had been restraining herself from saying this for so long, but you couldn't blame her.
☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°
One more thing you would have never guessed about Ellie is how intelligent she actually was.
The thought of taking the train to go to Tokyo to find anyone selling your precious item, where you can target a big crowd of people, hadn't crossed your mind until Ellie brought it up.
You assumed your brain was badly functioning from the lack of reward after working so hard to find the thief. You have been walking around for what seemed like a lifetime to find nothing but more exhaustion enveloping you.
It made you wonder how the freckled-faced girl in front of you looked still full of energy.
Maybe she was just excited to beat up someone; after all, it might be just another normal day for her.
Most of the time, you'd find yourself enlightened walking around Japan's capital city, but under those circumstances, your mood couldn't get any better.
"It kinda looks similar," Ellie pointed at a purse displayed in a convenience store. She was trying her best to help you after gave her a precise description of your purse. Unfortunately, she has a very poor imagination.
"Not even close."
The weather became cloudier as you and Ellie wandered around, looking at everyone suspiciously. It was going to start raining, but Ellie had spotted places where you could stay since you didn't have an umbrella.
You only accepted when you came across a cute coffee shop.
🫖☆🫖☆🫖☆🫖☆🫖☆🫖☆🫖☆🫖☆🫖☆
With Baroque paintings displayed on the rock walls, the smell of menthol perfumed the whole place, and jazz played softly on speakers, you couldn't help but already fall in love with this place.
Ellie sat across from you, repeatedly trying to light up her joint, ignoring the 'smoking is forbidden' sign in front of the shop.
Silently, you sipped the hot tea, letting the aroma amplify once it touched your tongue. You didn't need much to be happy. Certainly, you didn't need Ellie to smoke in front of you, blowing some of it your way. The poor girl failed to catch your attention away from your tea, feeling ignored.
You kept silently drinking your tea, cherishing your daily tea time, closing your eyes to quiet your worried thoughts for a moment. The motorcycle girl took out her joint and lit it up again; the flicking sound was starting to annoy you.
You opened your eyes to her taking a puff from her nose
"stop that"
even though you were slightly annoyed she managed to get your attention back to herself
"man im just trying to lighten up the mood"ellie said after blowing the smoke out of her nostrils proudly.
You liked the smell of cigarettes, and though you didn't smoke, you could tell she was, in fact, not smoking one. That's why you refused when she proposed you take a puff.
Instead of convincing you, she tried to impress you by taking another puff with her other nostril.
"Seriously, do you get paid to be a clown?" you asked, trying to annoy her, as you lifted up your cup to drink more tea.
"I thought about it, but I'd lose my job if they ever hired you," you almost choked on the tea, making Ellie laugh so hard she put a hand on her stomach. You had just confirmed what she had said as she watched you cough, almost coughing your lungs out.
"Was it the weed that was making Ellie stop taking everything personally?
"I'll charge you with attempted murder," you said, rolling your eyes at the girl in front of you.
After a while, Ellie's rambles attracted all your focus away from the taste of the tea and the jazz music playing, but you weren't complaining as she was interesting to listen to. The reason she bought a jacket similar to the her other ones was that her gang was organizing a festival, and it was coming soon, she wanted to look brand new. All she needed was to find a local designer to write the name of her gang. The money she had came from her dad and giving guitar lessons, which surprised you; you didn't expect her to be an artist.
A new side of her was shown to you as she kept rambling. You noticed how she scratched her neck every now and then, the way she would speed up her speech when she gets excited, and when she'd stutter a bit when you were keeping eye contact. She stopped talking after realizing she's been the only one talking, but you truthfully didn't mind.
"so when's the last time you killed someone ?" you asked making the girl in front of you confused
Ellie discovered a new side of you too; you were more of a listener than a talker, and for a person like her who likes to ramble, it was a win for her.
"I said I'm from a gang, not that I'm a local serial killer," Ellie explained. The Ellie you would have just met would have answered defensively, but her tone was rather sarcastic. She was bearable when she didn't take everything personally.
It was true that many gangs out there have blood on their hands, killing their opponents but also innocent citizens. But Ellie didn't share the same values and joined a gang you've never heard of before.
"I joined Dina's gang after trying to run away from home. I didn't know how to fight at the time; she taught me everything. I owe it all to her." The more you talked, the more questions you had. The conversation easily switched from carefree to serious.
The deadly gangs you would hear about were the ones targeted by Ellie's gang, which is motivated by values of respect and loyalty rather than free violence. That is why you've never heard of it, because most gangs are like the ones your father was once in.
This also explains why ellie is still following you around helping you to find your stolen purse, but this also makes you wonder....
"why did you run away?"
Suddenly, Ellie realized she had been oversharing quite a lot, but it's not her fault that you have such a trusting aura!
Getting better at reading Ellie, you realized you touched a sensitive subject and looked away from her, back at your now-empty cup of tea, trying to change the subject. "i'm still wondering though..." You recalled the letter you received from Ellie, the one with childlike writing.
"how did you discover where I live?" You didn't forget how Ellie mentioned she would meet you at your house instead of you going up to hers, but maybe that's because, in this case, you would have thought it was a trap and you wouldn't come there. You thought about this, but it still doesn't unravel the mystery of her knowing exactly where you live, which was kind of unsettling.
"wasn't hard. I just followed your dad after he was done selling in Tokyo." The casual tone in her answer just made the whole thing even more unsettling. You wondered if it was just the weed and hoped she was lying.
"you mean you stalked my dad?" You asked, hoping you were the one hearing wrong.
"how is that stalking? I just followed him to your house, but not like that..." Ellie tried to explain rationally but made things even worse, confirming you had been hearing perfectly.
"girl, did you drop out of kindergarten? That IS stalking. Why would you do that?" You were absolutely at a loss for words. More confused than upset, you knew Ellie didn't mean to harm anyone, but her way of using rational thinking was still questionable.
Ellie sighed, she didnt know how to explain this while sounding sane"first of all shut up I didnt drop out,I just wanted to know where I could get clothes from him thats all"
thats all ?
"you were literally going to beat me up when I showed up instead of him",you said raising your eyebrows, you werent even upset you just wanted to tease her
"no-omg-okay maybe.. but everything turned out fine"the auburn haired girl stuttered as she scratched her neck again, you noted she'd do this when nervous
"i should call the cops on you wtf"
ellie looked up at you, with a stupid smirk on her face"you need me you cant do that"
You played along, pretending to be upset as you got up and started to leave. However, Ellie felt bad, interpreting your sarcasm as seriousness, and grabbed your arm as she started to apologize for stalking your dad.
"I was just going to pay for the tea," you said, but Ellie got up instead, doing it for you.
You hadn't expected her to take your playful act seriously, but it was kind of hilarious.
☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°
It was true that you needed her help to catch whoever stole your bag. She knew how to fight, and she did look scary to people. You could already imagine the scumbag surrendering and giving back your precious item... but then again, this looked way too easy.
After your tea time and Ellie's smoking session, you went for another round of walking, looking for your purse.
"She's probably wearing a blue frilly dress like you, because your bag is blue. I guess she wanted to match."
"I've never seen another lolita girl in my hometown," you might not have any clues, but you might have a lead. You told Ellie it might be an average mid-30s man who happens to know the worth of your purse but Ellie was reluctant.
However, you finally decided to file a report of your stolen purse to the police, hoping they would do a better job at catching the thief. After doing so, you walked outside where Ellie was leaning on a wall, smoking again. She remained calm despite the fact that you didn't catch the thief.
"You know what? I'm convinced we're living in a simulation, and that none of this is real. We might be aliens sent from Mars, or maybe we're re-experiencing past life memories, or maybe we're just in some deep coma we have to wake up from."
Although you didn't smoke, you seemed more high than Ellie. "never try smoking."
How was she still happy enough to make jokes despite how awful this situation is making you feel?
"maybe its a life lesson,I should stop buying expensive things from now on"
"oh c'mon its really not that deep, you dont like your purse anymore or something?"
"It's not that-"
"if you can buy one you can buy another one",ellie walked up to you after tossing her joint on the floor giving it a few stomps to put out the burn
"do you think money grows on trees or something ?"
Ellie looked you up and down, from your embroidered white headband to your 'Alice and the Pirates' frilly dress and your white platform boots. She didn't see your outfit as just a simple ensemble, but rather a bag full of gold, ready to be converted into money.
"hell no, don't even think about that," you said firmly. No matter how difficult things could get, you would rather be killed than sell any of the clothes you own. It was like reselling Christmas gifts; you grew emotionally attached to those priceless dresses.
"I knew you'd say no. I was just joking," Ellie said before both of you went on to another activity:getting money to buy a similar purse. Cleaning people's shoes, betting on the three shell games, pickpocketing... You realized getting money in Tokyo wasn't that hard, but none of these options appealed to you for now.
You had to find something that would certainly get you money.
Ellie walked beside you, looking around too. You wondered if she was joking around because she was high or just letting her guard down. Either way, you didn't mind her being this way.. She had stopped spitting and approaching you like she was going to headbutt you after you got to know each other better.
"how about this?" ellie stopped and pointed at a building as she looked at you with a smirk
"I have enough trouble as it is, adding more isn't something I'm interested in," you replied. Wasn't it obvious that you've never been into criminal activity before? So why was she thinking about robbing a whole bank?
The sigh that escaped Ellie was one of pure disappointment, though she was half-joking. But that changed once you stopped by an eating contest.
"Spicy food contest, winner gets $100," both you and Ellie read on a large poster placed on a table. A few chairs were arranged around the table, and your eyes followed some people seated in front of a chef's hat. Only two chairs were unoccupied. You looked at Ellie, unsure if she would agree, but she instantly read your mind.
"I've eaten spicy food before, it's no big deal."
Your energy shifted to competitive mode; there was no way you could consider losing, but if you did, you hoped Ellie had your back."what kind of spicy food, though?"
"just trust me, it's a piece of cake," the auburn-haired girl said before stretching her arms and neck as if she was preparing for a fight. She wasn't considering losing either.
☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°
Already 2 minutes in, Ellie's face was red from the spiciness. The contest consisted of eating a whole plate of different spicy foods under 5 minutes. From noodles to chicken wings, Ellie felt like her tongue was on fire!
Milk wasn't enough to calm down Ellie; she felt like drinking a whole river.
You, on the other hand, were handling it pretty well; your grandma used to give you a bottle of Tabasco to punish you as a kid, so this was nothing compared to what you had experienced.
Maybe pain does make you strong?
"Time's up! Everyone, open your mouth!"
With luck and a little bit of courage, your plate was entirely empty with no crumbs left compared to other contestants. Some even tried to cheat by hiding their food under the table, but it still didn't stop you from winning!
The man who organized the contest congratulated you and rewarded you after cleaning up the table. Ellie looked at you in absolute shock; she also felt kind of humiliated after what she had told you, but at least you got what you came for.
"It's just spicy food, no big deal, yeah?" You couldn't help but tease Ellie about it. The confident look on her face vanished from the moment she started to eat the spicy chicken; she wasn't even looking at you, embarrassed.
"shut up, I was close to beating you." You just laughed at her words; her face was still a bit red from eating. You counted up the money you had, only a few bucks, and you could buy yourself a new purse!
"wanna go for another round then?" The auburn girl stayed silent and responded with a violent side-eye. You understood you had to find another way to get money rather than eating spicy food...
☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°☆°
Ellie convinced you to bet the $100 you won on the three shell game after refusing multiple times. It turns out she didn't lie when she said she was good at seeing through those scams.
"I used to learn magic tricks when I was 10," she told you, and you didn't need to know what for after she got your money doubled up. Only a few bucks were left, and an idea popped up in your mind as you and Ellie kept walking in Tokyo: "why don't you bring your guitar and play here?"
The thought of playing in front of everyone was making Ellie nervous, not because she was bad or anything, but she didn't want to come across a potential enemy of her gang. She had to keep her tough image, especially in the streets.
"uh, I'm still learning, and I never practiced in front of a big crowd," Ellie lied, but you kept insisting.
"come on, are you really that bad? You said you've been playing since you were a child"
Despite your insistence, it didn't have the same effect on Ellie as it had on your dad.
"It doesn't mean I play like a professional; plus, there are many other ways to get money," Ellie kept giving you reasons, but you finally stopped insisting. In fact, you didn't need to get money anymore to buy a new bag...
You finally found it!
Ellie noticed the change in your expression and wondered what was going on, so she followed the direction of your gaze.
There it was, shining bright like a diamond, as blue as the sky, begging to be back in its place. It was an average man with a long beard in his mid-30s, carrying it as he walked in front of you.
Ellie turned her head to look back at you, silently asking, 'Do you want me to take care of him?' But you didn't want to leave this to Ellie. You felt rage building up inside you along with a sense of relief; you had to make him pay.
You ran towards the man who was walking in front of you, hoping to catch him before he disappeared again. The sound of your platform boots approaching made him turn his head in curiosity before you jumped on him. Both of you fell hard to the floor; his head hit the ground while his hands were still clutching your purse.
You snatched it out of his hands, not caring about hurting him. You were more hurt than he was after what he's done. The look of pity on his face made your blood boil. He even had the audacity to reach for your purse again!
"It's mine, you fucking dumbass bitch. Try to ever steal from me again and I'll slit your throat open until you bleed to death. You can have fun stealing other people's bags in hell." You spat on his face after stomping his stomach, releasing all the anger you've been carrying.
This man needed to be humbled.
You've always been told to fight back. If someone hits you, you should hit harder. And if the person hitting you still has the audacity to hurt you, you didn't hit hard enough.
The man finally stopped trying to get back your purse as he was busy spitting blood. You stopped hitting him, considering that was enough karma for him.
You had to let him know you weren't a person to mess with.
Despite your brilliant and cute clothes, a wise soul and a strong character were hidden within, one that despised being bothered.
You walked away from the man, making sure your purse still had your personal belongings, unaware that your scene had attracted the attention of the people around. You approached Ellie, who was once again at a loss for words.
The girl also walked up to you. "how can you even run in those?" She pointed at your shoes.
"practice, I guess," you shrugged your shoulders before taking Ellie's hand. You didn't know where to go, but you definitely didn't want to stay in the eyes of the people who had witnessed you beating up a 30-year-old man.
You began to walk, dragging Ellie with you, but she stopped. "wait."
You were met with confusion and dropped her hand
Was she scared or something?
Ellie was also bad at reading people, but you made things even worse for her. You were like a book with covers that didn't match the atmosphere of the story, but the side of you that you had just shown got her hooked.
Suddenly, you heard the sounds of motorcycles roaring nearby. You had attracted a whole gang!
They were all girls wearing the same jacket as Ellie's, no helmets, no weapons, but they were still radiating an intimidating yet powerful energy. Their motorcycles stopped just behind Ellie, and you felt the girls' intimidating gaze on you. You looked at Ellie, wondering what was happening.
Ellie didn't even need to turn around to know that it was her gang. She kept looking at you.
"why don't you join me?"

Doesn’t get it. Supports your interest but seriously doesn’t get the appeal of it and how you can be so invested in it. Absolute normie.
Definitely gets a kick out of teasing you that your favourite character seems to have fluffy ears not unlike him.
“Shyeheehee, what a fun coincidence that is, cutie~”
Also doesn’t understand how much merch could go for. You spent how much to get that keychain?? Out of respect for you, he wouldn’t dare snag them, but he can’t say it’s not tempting.
He is impressed by the dedication you have in unlocking the newest stories and accomplishing the mini games for your favourite character. Also, considering his time being snatched away by looking after Leona and being the unofficial vice housewarden, he’s happy that you don’t feel as lonely or bored as he feared you would be while he’s busy.
That being said, he doesn’t appreciate it when it starts to cut into his time with you. He doesn’t mind listening to you about the newest stories or voice calls, but it’s pay-attention-to-your-boyfriend time.
Why are you gushing about the fluffy ears of some fictional man when he’s right there?
“Ahh~ his ears are just adorable” you squealed as you tapped repeatedly on the screen to watch the cute animation. You didn’t notice Ruggie’s own were flicking in irritation as he saw your eyes glued to your phone.
This is supposed to be a quiet lunch break under a shady tree by the school field without any disruptions (namely Leona) but as Ruggie munched on his last snack, you sat beside him, giving more attention to what he considers a cheap imitation of a beastman.
You felt the weight of your boyfriend shifting beside you. Before you could question it, the messy-haired upperclassman plopped his head onto your lap, smiling up at you as he made himself comfortable.
“You shouldn’t sleep right after a meal, Ruggie” you half-heartedly chastise him, but you couldn’t be mad, not with him.
“Leona had me running ragged all day, I hadn’t had the chance to rest” he lamented as he reached out for your hands, setting down your phone then bringing your hands onto his head, his ears flicking cutely. “I need your help to relax”
“Aww, my poor baby” you coo and proceed to run your hands through his hair, lovingly rubbing his soft ears which flatten and flick around in appreciation. Ruggie hummed in bliss as he started to doze off to your soft petting and sweet words of praise for your hard-working lover, your phone left forgotten at your side.
Tumblr media
At first, Floyd wasn’t aware of your new obsession as he always found something else to distract him. You tried explaining the premise of the game that got you hooked but it lost his attention halfway and proceeded to change the conversation.
He didn’t discourage you to stop playing as it wasn’t a problem to him and watching you smile definitely lifted his mood.
It wasn’t until he started to notice that you tend to mention one particular character more than the others.
When you indulge in his doodling in class, he starts seeing that character’s name and he watches annoyed as you even draw cute versions of that character on your notebook, which he promptly rips out.
When you two started dating, his mood swings were less frequent as he’s been happier since then. He used to immediately brighten up once he sees you, even from across the hallway
Not anymore though because his mood now immediately sours when he sees you on your phone, giggling as you look like you were reading something from the game.
It wasn’t a matter of if he’ll snap but rather when.
“Floyd, seriously! Give it back!”
You stretched as far as you could against your pillar of a boyfriend, almost climbing him as he kept his hand over both your heads, your phone in his grasp.
“Woww~ Shrimpy’s pretty short, ain’t cha?” The teal-haired boy chuckled out as he reveled in your adorable face as you desperately reached for your phone.
“You’re just stupidly tall” You rebuked. “And being a jerk, by the way”
He ignored you as he stared at your phone he “borrowed” from you. Earlier he saw you and was planned to give you a loving squeeze, until he looked over your shoulder and caught a glimpse of that accursed game and even worse, that dumb character he’s reluctantly got familiar with from your doodles. Some may call this petty jealousy, but he doesn’t care. He doesn’t like this lanky, grinning character grabbing all of your attention.
“Hey Shrimpy, how angry would you be if I crush your phone?”
“Very!”
He figured as much, so he decided on an alternative compromise. With his signature toothy grin, he leaned down to meet your eyes, still keeping your phone away from your reach.
“Then, give me some smooches and I’ll consider not to~”
Tumblr media
100% in full support. Out of the whole NRC, he would probably be the most understanding of your interest because you cannot tell me he doesn’t have his own favs from gacha games.
You two can talk for hours on storylines, character designs, and animation sprites. He’ll even give you recommendations on devices with the best frame format to use for the best visual experiences. Heck, butter him up and he’ll build one for you.
If you also support his ramblings for his favs, he will truly try to pinch himself over this perfect relationship. Get you a partner that understands you.
He gets a warm, tingly feeling when you rush to him in the middle of the day with the biggest smile on your way to show off a new game scene. It feels nice knowing that he’s the first person you thought of to share your passion with.
Your fav character was not one that pops up frequently in your game so there wasn’t a lot of merch made for them. However, Idia still keeps an eye out for them just in case because he knows you’ll love it.
Again, get you a partner that understands you.
He may have to draw the line if you ask him if he’s willing to cosplay the character with you. That’s a bit out of his comfort zone.
If you’re persistent and persuasive enough though…
“Idia!!” You raised your voice by mistake from the shock of what was pushed into your hands “how on Earth did you find this?”
Idia rubbed the back of his head in what most would assume is embarrassment, but you knew him well enough he’s just hiding his self-satisfaction. He did just find a way to get his hands on a limited-edition figurine of your favourite character, along with the accessories that were difficult to find since they were sold separately.
“It was nothing, really. I know a few online buddies and they mentioned seeing it on some proxy website”
Now, usually you would reply with a smart quip for that smug attitude. But there's an undeniable warmth in your heart knowing this asocial man who wouldn’t put effort in something that would put him in an uncomfortable situation has personally asked others for something because he knew you would appreciate it.
In a swift movement, you managed to surprise your blue-flamed lover by wrapping your arms around his neck, pulling him to a hug and peppering kisses all over his cheeks, nose, and lastly his lips. His blue flames were flicking wildly with a pink hue colouring the tips. He stammered to let him go but you ignored his half-hearted pleas, opting to keep him in your embrace as you snuggled into his neck.
“I love you so much” you mumbled into his neck and while you couldn’t quite see his face, the darkened pink hues of his flames that tickle your cheeks gave you a hint of his feelings.
In Idia’s frazzled mind, he’s trying to calculate the affection points he must have gotten from this and now he wonders how you would reward him if he did try the cosplay idea.

Hello. I'm sorry if this is sudden but I was wondering if you took story requests and if you do, could you make a platonic Dan heng IL story with the reader being the child of his previous incarnation and with the reader still being quite young and Jing Yuan is the one to tell Dan Heng about them even though he's only met them a couple and doesn't know them personally, but Jing Yuan felt like Dan Heng had the right to know about the reader especially after the reader had an encounter with Blade. (If this is too much or if you don't do requests that's completely understandable and I wish you a good day/afternoon and or night😊)
Hello!! I don't really do requests anymore, but a little practice in writing doesn't hurt anybody so sure!! (Also I noticed I got around 2 more asks very similar to this one so maybe it was a glitch or intention it's fine tho!!)
Dan Heng with the child of Dan Feng (Platonic)
Let's think about you being a confused and lost child, loosing your memories so you don't really remember your parents or where you came from. You just suddenly woke up and with the guidance of the general Jing Yuan. He explained he knew your family and they left you under his guidance. He's been your support since, you're about the same height as Bailu but much younger, you're around 12 years old? Maybe 13? You can't really remember your age but that doesn't matter much right now.
You being with Jing Yuan all the time you get to meet interesting people, first it was a man named Blade who kept looking at you for some reason before Jing Yuan ordered the guards to take him away.
Another were a group of adventurers, they called themselves the Astral Express. A young woman named march 7th who loved to play with you while the two older men named Mr. Yang and Caelus spoke with Jing Yuan.
The last person you encountered was a man who seemed to give familiarity to you, you never met this man but the way he looks at you while you're tending to Jign Yuan you can't seem to look away.
"The general is in a stable condition, I would advise you all to let him have his rest. Y/n will be keeping an eye on him while I treat all of your wounds please follow me"
The group leaves you alone to Jing Yuan except for one, it's the strange man who won't stop staring
"Are you in need of something Mister?" You look at him with confusion before he shakes his head, apologises and closes the door
"Hello Y/n" he watches you stare at the the door before you turn back to him with an irritated expression
"Hello General, you seem to be in a good mood. I'd prefer if you don't recklessly lose your life again please" Jing Yuan has gotten used to your scolding and only finds it comical
"Oh you wound me my dear y/n. After taking you under my wing, you treat me like this. You don't even call me father" he fakes a tear, "Okay old man" you responded which seems to have hit him harder than Phantylia. (You know those anime clips of a character getting stabbed with an arrow that says airhead or something? Yeah he got hit like that but it says Old man instead)
"Anyway how are you doing? Do you need any pain medication, any areas where I need to look at?" Jing Yuan made sure to ease your worries before you had other questions.
"That man..with the long black hair and blue horns, do you know him? He seems oddly familiar but I don't remembermeeting him.." you asks Jing Yuan while grabbing the freshly brewed tea. What you did not know was that Jing Yuan looked at you from behind with a saddened look "He's an old friend of mine, well his previous incarnation..your father" and it sunk in
Old memories seemed to have flooded your memories and before you could drop the tray of tea Jing Yuan has stood up and caught it before you could hurt yourself
"My father???" Jing Yuan looks up to find Dan Heng staring at the two
"Dan Heng meet Y/n, Dan Feng's child" the two of you were staring at each other "I was planning to tell you both this at another time, but the phantylia battle has taken a toll on me, how about you get to know each other" Jing Yuan pushes you towards the tall man, he looks at you curiously and you feel a thump below you
*Jung Yuan laughs* "You must have grown your horns and tail the moment you saw your father"
"I'm not their father" / "Jing Yuan not now" he continued to laugh at the both of you.
Not sure how to end this, uhm thanks for reading.

Logan thing I literally noticed by accident
Okay-- so,
We all know Logan's parents are out of the picture.
It's pretty obvious.
So, I'm now gonna talk about something completely different but it's still relevant to Logan.
Tumblr media
So... you notice how their noses are literally the same in shape? Also, their skin tones are EXTREMELY close to one another. One last thing to note is that the eye shape is also pretty similar. (Note that the hair color may not be the same, since it's likely Ryan has black hair due to his eyebrow color... But parents with blonde or brown hair can have a kid with black hair, as long as both parents have the recessive gene, or someone in the family had the gene.)
This is pretty farfetched, but I honestly like the idea of Ryan being Logan's dad already, so now that I accidently made this connection while swooning over Ben's dad just makes my stupid lil au even truer.
Although, it's too farfetched for him to be his dad, so I'm making the safe bet that he's just related to Logan, like perhaps an uncle. It could explain why he doesn't really say anything about Logan, or there wasn't any hint that he was his dad. It could be that he left his family a little after Logan was born, so he would never know how he looked like after some time passed.
(fast pass spoilers here!) He also probably doesn't know the names of the kids (obv), so he won't realize Logan is his nephew for a bit until someone mentions his full name around him, and he's like "Hol' up-- That sounds like the name my sibling gave to their kid--" He also wouldn't care for the parents either, therefore he doesn't know his mom and dad are being kept here. Once he realizes that Logan's his nephew, he'll realize his parents are here. Because if the parents got kidnapped as well, Logan's guardians would also be here.
(end of fast pass spoilers)
Now, let's circle back to the first thing I talked about.
I may have an idea on what could've happened to Logan's parents because of the Ryan thing...
Tumblr media
Since I was looking for pictures of the grandparents in all s2 episodes, I happened to be reading over the dialogue. When I read this at first, I was like "hm, great words spoken by James." Then I realized, "...WAIT-- WHAT IF THIS WAS THEM SELF-REFLECTING ON THEIR OWN MISTAKE WITH THEIR OWN KID--" And yeah, that's how I came up with this dumb little theory:
What if by possibility, Logan's parents were in danger, and whoever was the child of Mary and Jame's tried telling them about it, but they didn't believe them. So, trying to keep Logan safe (he was just a few months old at the time), they left him at their parents house, lying about needing to run some quick errands with their spouse, and never returned, possibly dead. Mary and Jame's heavily grieve the lost of their child. They already had one run off (Ryan left them after Logan was born, there was a huge fight about his alcoholism problem), and now their second child was missing, possibly dead.
They raised Logan as a sort of apology to their own child. And because of the trauma, they were really protective of Logan.
Now, this could also explain why Mary and Jame's were the first to believe the kids. The situation reminded them of their own kid, and they realized that there could be a chance the gang was in danger, obvious evidence being Tyler. So, to make sure the other parents didn't make the same mistake they made, they stepped up and encouraged the other parents to believe the gang.
Again, this all could be pretty far-fetched, but there's always the chance of it being right. (I also realized Ryan may have seen Mary and James, but never hinted at saying they were his parents, but then again maybe it's either too soon to reveal that, or he couldn't exactly notice since it was likely from a distance.)
That's all I have for now. Bye bye 🧖

5 headcanons for a krakenverse AU where Tamaki's mother married First instead of All for One. (Playing it safe with the weaker but less evil brother.) Tamaki is their son.
Ehehehe
1- Amaji has an interesting definition of playing it safe, because AfO killed his brother's lover Second (and possibly his next and last lover Third idk but either way 100% murdered lover rate) but when she manages to catch First alone to explain it, he agrees- it'd be political, but it would hopefully offer protection to Ozoko and freedom to First, as long as he spent some time both in the city and back with his brother.
2- AfO protests, naturally, even citing that he should be married before his little brother, but First points out he had centuries to do that before he was even born and didn't, so he lost his chance.(Shame about Sorahiko, I suppose) Knowing his brother will try to kill Amaji anyway, he also tells him that they plan to magically seal their lives together- if Amaji dies, so does he, and vice versa. The catch here tho, is to do this, they'd need someone somehow related to both of them by blood. (This is related to the spell and method in krakenverse canon that keeps AfO from even lifting a hand to his relatives, but less powerful) As they do not share any relatives, Amaji and First would need to make one... Fortunately for Amaji (on a time crunch because AfO would kill her long before nine months were up) and First (gay), witchcraft exists!
3- which, I guess, makes their marriage technically also a shotgun wedding? Ok sure why not. AfO grits his teeth and says they must really love each other to do that, but he can't not attend the wedding, and when he sees the little tiny Tamaki he decides he really needs to find a way to brainwash Amaji so he can have his brother back... And his little nephew, who's adorable (his hair is lighter here, closer to Nejire's shade) and a potential heir to the throne of Ozoko. Which means he has to play nice, to ensure they are within his home and not the city as much as possible
4- he also just... Acts like Tamaki is named after him. He tries to get his pods to treat him special so he prefers it to the city aquatics, but Tamaki is as shy about the obvious and forced coddling as he is getting sideways looks, so he hates both and he especially hates how his uncle keeps forgetting his name, even if he's the only one who is honest about considering Tamaki weak and ill suited for the city. Instead of drawing this towards the Kraken like AfO hopes, it draws him further into his own room in Ozoko, reluctant to ever leave and worrying First, who can't imagine trapping yourself with so much potential freedom right there.
5- AfO, frustrated that what he considers "playing nice" isn't working, wonders if getting married himself would solve the problem, get First to visit more, perhaps a child would draw Tamaki out. He thinks about suitable options, but there's not really anyone. Inko was pretty, but she got married to someone on land, poor tastes just like her mother. The rest of the pod isn't really attractive either, and if he picks one of his more violent and loyal followers, his brother will never want to visit.
As he muses on the issue, Amaji and First lead their son up to the surface to meet Queen Inko and her boys, slightly desperate to get the kid some positive socialization since neither the Kraken's territory nor the city seem viable options.

SKB Volume 9 Summary
this is a summary of important points, including spoilers and new characters.
Vols 2-5 now have official translations! | Volume 6 | Volume 7 | Volume 8 | Volume 9 (here)
As always, my translations of characters' names or other new things introduced in the book likely won't be accurate to the official version.
"The Black & White Coexisting Spacetimes Theory: like how objects have a reflection in the mirror, the world is made up of 2 spacetime layers that similarly coexist in a balance with each other." This idea has not yet been proven to be true, but it was realized by high priest Ochagama. ...
A woman with long, billowing hair like flames stands looking up at Mt. Fuji - akaboshi bisco, also known as red the twinshroom, and the last mushroom keeper on earth.
Her full body tattoos are the manifestation of the souls that reside in her. they glow and throb with a dull pain. she HAS to win this, not just for herself, but for all those lost, and for....
Milo, also known as blue and the other half of the twinshrooms. she and actagawa find red, and blue scolds her for going off alone. blue is described as being small, and with a panda-like mark and bright eyes.
R: "Like I'd actually go by myself. I keep my promises!" Red gets onto actagawa and pulls in blue for a tight hug, basically shoving blue's face right into her chest. R: "C'mooon, don't be mad at me... If we're dyin' then we're doin' it together, right?" B: "Hmmph..." And yet somehow, like always, blue was assuaged by her words. B: "We can't die though, we have to come home alive for Sugar." R: "Oh yeah, how is he?" B: "Sleeping soundly ... Tirol set up a barrier dimension with mantras, so they shouldn't be able to be found from the outside." R: "...And where is Tirol now?" B: "Ummm...."
Tirol [male] runs up behind them. he's short and has jellyish-like hair.
Tirol explains their plan to defeat the rust god, who steals people's souls and makes their power his own. they have to attack from outside the rust god's visual range, because once they're in his sights it's all over.
It's revealed that pawoo died a while ago after trying to fight the rust god.
Main universe: Bisco wakes suddenly in a panic, having just seen red's life through his dreams. he accidentally wakes sugar, who tells him he just had a bad dream and needs to get some sleep before their beach trip in the morning.
The whole family is sleeping together in a tent, seemingly all living a traveler life together for the time being. pawoo and salt are to bisco's one side, sugar and milo on the other.
The memories of the dream rapidly fade, but bisco can't shake the disturbing feeling he got from it. he is unable to sleep the rest of the night.
Red's universe: the rust god, named rust (yes i know. naming choices) sits atop a throne on the pinnacle of mt. fuji. he is an automaton, but looks like a young boy. the souls of countless people swirl around him, asking rust to grant their wishes for wealth, talent, and power.
Rust seems bored by all the souls pestering him. with each snap of his fingers, he grants their wishes... or at least appears to. by doing so, the souls declare their fealty to him and he absorbs them into his body.
A tiny, flying bug-like creature named N'badu asks rust how the souls tasted, to which he replies they were disgusting.
They go for a walk and look down over the fields full of rust-covered statues - people whose souls had been taken.
When rust first began taking over, he would simply kill all who opposed him and take their souls that way. However, n'badu came up with an idea where those who willingly gave up their souls would have their wishes granted by rust.
The vast majority of humanity chose to give up their souls in exchange for a wish. less than 2% of the population is still alive.
Rust is quite pragmatic, asking why humans chose to stop fighting and why they wanted wishes when the wish was simply a hallucination they saw as their soul was consumed. if the humans had attacked en masse, even he would not have been able to stop them all in one blow.
Despite the massive amount of souls he has, rust is not satisfied. he wants a high quality soul, one that burns with strong passion and a willful fighting spirit. he remembers hearing that red was still alive, and says that she's perfect to be his target.
Like rust, red has an ability that allows her to absorb souls into her body. this is a passed-down mushroom keeper skill in this universe.
As if on cue, red appears. actagawa casts a tiny shadow against the backdrop of the full moon from how far away they are. red shoots at rust with a powerful poison arrow and the resulting growth eviscerates mt. fuji.
Red cheers that she defeated him. her tattoos are lit up like fire from activating the souls' maximum power. however, the mechanical pieces that had rained from the explosion come back together. rust begins to reform right in front of them.
He sends red and blue flying and crashing into the rocky ground with punches and kicks that contain unbelievable strength. both beaten and bloodied, red cradles blue in her arms. Red: "It's impossible... I thought I killed you...!" Rust: "And you did. ... But it matters not if I die once or twice, for I can revive once for each soul I contain." Red is overcome with a sense of despair. She was a human who could only die once, while Rust could brush it off like a minor scrape.
Rust loves those who are strong, who fight against fate and do everything they can to survive... so that he can watch them break down, grovel, beg for forgiveness at his feet.
He thinks of how he can make red truly go mad with despair. his first decision? to kill actagawa right in front of her...
Main universe: Bisco wakes up screaming in terror. he's on the beach next to actagawa, and gives him a hug. he later talks to tirol (who came with the fam to the beach) about his nightmares, and she explains the black & white spacetimes theory to him.
Tirol says he shouldn't worry about what he saw since there's no way to travel to other timelines. he should just be happy he ended up in the "good" one.
Sugar is playing in the water when a meteor appears in the sky. as the protector of earth, she tries to destroy it. on the first hit, it doesn't break. she goes to hit it again, but senses it has an energy like it's alive.
Sugar sees that the meteor was actually a human woman. she creates a platform to pull the woman onto, with not only her clothes but also her eyes gone from having burned up. R: "W... who's there.... Is that you, Milo? You're safe, right? Don't worry, I'm fine, I'll protect you..." S: "It's okay, Sugar will make you better again!" R: "...Did you say, 'Sugar'??"
Sugar uses her powers to restore red's eyes, heal her body, and give her a new set of mushroom keeper clothes. able to see again, red hugs sugar tightly and cries. sugar is confused. red realizes something is off too.
She marvels at the existence of the alternate timeline being true, before trying to wrack her brain for what happened during her fight. she only remembers tirol sending her away, and that she has a mission: to devour her other self.
Riding on actagawa, bisco arrives to see if sugar is okay. the instant red and bisco lock eyes, they go into battle mode.
They realize simultaneously that they're both akaboshi bisco. bisco jeers that there's no way red is the strongest mushroom keeper since he already exists, but it's quickly made clear that red can overpower him. she is able to deflect his arrows, then when they cross blades he's barely able to hold her off. he tries to stab her, but doing so only makes the metal of the blade bend.
She breaks bisco's nose before grabbing his neck. She shoves his head underwater as if trying to drown him. R: "That's right. I'm 'Akaboshi Bisco.' ... To save the future of my timeline, I'm goin' to take your soul!"
S: "Wait, that's my papa?! Or, um, my mama?! But my mama is Milo...?!" ... R: "Havin' both of us be called 'Bisco' is a pain in the ass! In my timeline, me n' Milo are called Red and Blue. If you need a name for me, then call me Red the Twinshroom!" B: "Well ain't that a fancy name, huh?" R: "Somethin' like 'Enoki' is good enough for you ... You're so damn tiny, can you really use a bow lookin' like that?" B: "You're just too damn muscly! ... Besides, it's 3 against 1, you think you can win?" R: I'm alone, huh...? You'll regret sayin' that."
She summons a giant bow that glows orange, which she calls the crab god's bow. it's made from actagawa's soul.
Bisco and sugar summon the choushin bow. red knows of this power, but it was never able to be used in her world. they clash and are perfectly matched.
Bisco calls the souls in red's body "evil spirits" and this sends her into a rage. as they fight at close range, glowing vines come out of red's arm and form into shishi's signature sword.
Red's body starts burning up from overusing her powers. as she's dying painfully, all she can think about is fighting and winning so that everyone's deaths were not in vain.
As red falls unconscious and bisco catches her, she thinks of blue... R: (I guess I really can't do this on my own... I need you... Milo...) ... She holds Blue's corpse in her arms, unable to stop the continuous bleeding. Red's clothes become increasingly stained, trembling in anguish and despair as she feels the body of her loved one growing cold. R: "No.... no!!! I'm gonna die with her!! Just kill me! Please kill me too...!"
The squad brought red to banryou-ji, where milo runs tests and watches as she sleeptalks and writhes. he gently touches her face and this seems to make her calm down.
Tirol, Bisco, and Pawoo force their way into milo's space and stare at red like a zoo exhibit. as usual, they all start bickering and the noise wakes red.
Red can't see very well, but freaks out upon realizing she's tied down. she activates her powers, and flexing her muscles breaks the metal bonds. milo tries to explain things, and hearing his voice makes her pause. R: "Who... are...?" M: "I'm Milo! I'm Bisco's partner, and I've gone to school, so you have nothing to worry about!"
She becomes enraged at remembering blue's death. everyone backs off while pawoo handles things, but red easily knocks pawoo's staff away.... before jumping in to hug her.
Red is happy to find that "her husband" is "alive". everyone shouts at pawoo to knock red out, but pawoo is too taken in by red's brazen affection. bisco says to keep her hands off of his wife, and pawoo passes out from happiness at two biscos fighting over her. Milo watches all of this with great amusement.
Tirol hears the voice of her counterpart in her head. he shares his memories of the alternate timeline with her, and she projects them to everyone else.
Tirol's memories: he managed to save red just before rust killed her, but she was frozen in shock after blue's death. she only snaps out of it once she sees tirol hurting his own body from using mantras to protect them.
Tirol says that to get stronger than rust, she needs to take the soul of her alternate self. tirol uses his remaining life energy to activate the ultimate mantra, Akasha Tripper, which can send people across realities.
R: "Stop it! Why are you dyin' for me?!" T: "Call it my selfishness... Is it so bad?" R: "I thought you hated me...!" T: "I don't bother arguing with people I hate ... Goodbye, Akaboshi. Be nice to the other me."
Seeing tirol's memories clears red's amnesia. she apologizes to milo and pawoo for acting out. pawoo gives her a hug, seeming to feel bad for the horrors she experienced.
Red's universe: using tirol's soul, rust and n'badu figure out how to activate akasha tripper. rust plans to go steal souls from the other timeline, but he wants to preemptively cull the mushroom keepers as well as sugar who is a god that could rival him.
Rust possesses their world's (red's son) sugar now as well since tirol is dead and the mantras protecting sugar faded. sugar seems to be a normal baby.
N'badu borrows a soul from rust and transforms its former physical appearance - and it's none other than amli. n'badu enters the portal and goes to carry out rust's command.
Main universe: having received her counterpart's technical knowledge, tirol programs a copy of akasha tripper. pawoo is restless, really wanting to be helpful but unsure what she can do. seeing this, tirol thinks of something and tells pawoo to sit tight.
Meanwhile, milo has been refereeing bisco and red's endless competitions to see who's superior, which includes tests of strength and speed to who can cook better or watch a horror movie for longer. everything's ended in a tie.
B: "Next we'll see who can grow more shimeji mushrooms!" R: "You're on. I'm gonna cover this whole damn country in 'em. ... Milo, get out the manta bow! I'm gonna win this!" M: "Huh?! But, uh...." B: "Hey, the hell you think you're doin'!? You can't take someone else's partner!" R: "Just lemme borrow him for a bit. Bad enough you're a guy, but you're stingy too. No one in the whole universe knows how to work with Milo better than me!"
They grab milo's arms and fight over him, until bisco suddenly falls down. he looks at his hand, only to see that it isn't even there.
N'badu, also skilled at programming, was trying to overwrite bisco's timeline with a fake reality where he and milo don't exist. tirol just barely managed to stop the change.
Tirol says they need to find the person who cast the wish to overwrite the timeline and stop them.
Banryou-ji transforms into a tetsujin being piloted by pawoo. using pawoo's massive love energy, the tetsujin activates akasha tripper. bisco tells her to stop because it's dangerous, but red shuts him up. R: "Thanks. Love you, Pawoo! I can feel the love you've given us. Just for you, I'm gonna win and come home safe!" P: "Yes, honey...!" B: "What the fuck?! Cut this out, Pawoo is married to the one and only Akaboshi Bisco...!" R: "Yeah? And that's me." B: "No! I'm only talkin' about ME! Because... I love Pawoo MORE than you!!!" he shouted like a child who didn't want to be one-upped.
Bisco, milo, and red get sucked into the portal and hold onto each other so they don't get separated. milo passes out from moving at high speeds. he's squashed between the 2 biscos.
Bisco's senses are telling him that they might not come out of this alive, and tells red: if things turn dire, she can willingly take his soul. but in return, red has to promise to protect his family.
In the false reality: Izumo has become the new capital, and all religious sects were forced together to become one under the rust god. it's gone from six towers 108 to represent every former sect. everyone is praying and giving their energy to the rust god, which is being used to form this fake reality overwriting bisco's world.
The trio falls from the sky and crashes thru multiple towers. red wakes up, feeling something pressing on her chest and figures some rubble landed on her.... but she opens her eyes to see milo kissing her.
She sends him flying in her rage, but then cries thinking about how she cheated on her husband. she accuses milo of making her pregnant (she's not). milo was just giving her CPR because she stopped breathing. red turns... well... red in embarrassment.
Trying to pull herself together, red talks proudly while still blushing hard. R: "...Anyway! You said you're experienced but turns out you're [the other reality's milo is] nothin' special! Don't tell me that's the best you got. With kisses THAT shitty, you'd never excite even a single girl." M: "Okay..." He presses against her. "Should I give you a real kiss?" He was not joking. His eyes narrowed, and Red felt herself being oppressed by his aura. It was like that of a hunter aiming to take down a predator in one shot. M: "Are you scared? You're the one who picked this fight..." R: "Uh, um...! Milo! I was jokin'! Just..." M: "Mm-mm, I'm not letting you get away. This is the perfect opportunity to teach you a lesson..." R: (Is this really what Mllo would'a been like if she was a guy?!)
But milo pulls off of her when he hears bisco calling for them. red is extremely confused, having accepted that milo was going to kiss her. milo says red needs to be careful about protecting herself from shitty men since she doesn't have blue around to help.
They find bisco.... who has turned into a palm-sized kinoko. milo exclaims at how cute he is and tries to tickle him, but bisco blasts him and tells him to focus on the serious task at hand.
They get attacked by Kyurumon and Corpulo (fire and gold tower leaders). corpulo says he'll let red live if she becomes his whore, and then an arrow slices through his throat. "How dare you say something so disgusting to Bisco... Do you regret it? Ah, maybe you didn't even have time to." Red stands there in shock at Milo's incredible readiness to kill. He then turns to look at her. "He can't talk anymore, so don't worry!" he said with a smile. B: (Scary, ain't he.) R: (Way more than Blue...)
Kyurumon uses gold creation mantras to draw in lots of people and makes them form into a giant mass. milo has a plan to fight it, but red won't listen and just blows holes in the amalgamation without caring if she kills anyone.
Bisco says Red won't listen to milo since they aren't partners. to become her partner, he needs to use her REAL name. M: "...Actually, I wouldn't be cheating on you, would I?" B: "Huh?!" M: "Are you telling me it's okay? Even if it's just for a minute, I'm going to be someone else's partner--" B: "The hell're you talkin' about?! Just do it already!"
Milo calls for red... or now bisco, and stops her just before she fires an arrow that would've surely decimated the city. she felt blue's presence in his voice, and can feel her partner's warmth on her back... She scolds herself for being so easy to sway.
The trio commits yet another act of religious impersonation. red and milo use the mantra bow and fire a jizou-shroom, which creates a giant jizou shaped figure. bisco jumps onto its head and pretends to speak as the "great spore buddha" to the people, and those in the amalgamation come to their senses and leave quietly.
Red doesn't feel good about this win. she's never used jabi's jizou-shroom because it's useless for battle, but bisco explains that wanting a way to end battles without killing was what made jabi create the jizou-shroom in the first place. R: "You fight, and one side is gonna die - that's just life. Jabi's dream was nothing more than that!" ... B: "We don't wish for things hopin' they'll come true. I think what life's really all about is dreamin' and chasin' after those dreams."
Red gets angry, saying that bisco can only dream of nice things because he's had good luck. she acknowledges his way of thinking isn't wrong, but to remember that those who dream are protected by those who see reality.
A decrepit kelshinha tries to steal the scriptures to regain his power and take back the title of "rust god." amli (n'badu) appears, mocking him for his weakness. amli's hair has now grown long, and he is the official rust god of izumo.
Just as n'badu is about to kill kelshinha, red and milo bust in to protect him.
N'badu breaks a hole in the floor under kelshinha and he plummets. bisco jumps in after him. milo and red escape the building, but n'badu follows them. N: "I see that the other world's Blue also has some level of mantra power ... But compared to what the real Blue could do, yours are child's play. One who was raised in the comfort of the good timeline could never be fit to be Red's partner. You're nothing but a weakling using the name of the Twinshrooms." ... Red explains who n'badu is and tries to form a plan of attack, but now milo is the one not listening. M: "You think I'm not good enough? You think I don't have what it takes to be Bisco's partner...! Even though I... I even had one of his kids....!"
N'badu keeps prodding him when he realizes how well it's working. R: "Don't let him provoke you! you gotta work together with me here--!" N: "So useless. You can't do anything without Red's power, can you? Just a poor little star who can't shine on his own. All you do is drag your partner down..." M: "SHUT UUUUUUUPPPPP!!!"
Enraged, Milo expels massive amounts of energy and summons the mantra bow by himself. he fires it, only for n'badu to stop the arrow easily and sling it back at him.
A fully powered kelshinha appears and protects milo from the attack. kelshinha absorbed kinoko!bisco and is borrowing his energy.
Kelshinha fights n'badu using new techniques that are a mix of mantras and mushroom energy, which he invented on the fly. it looks like he's going to win, but n'badu manages to snag bisco from him, which causes kelshinha to weaken and fade from existence.
Red convinces kelshinha to give her his soul. they use his soul's power to form a new bow, and fire a shot to destroy amli's body. amli's soul is set free and he talks one last time to red, thanking her for all she's done.
The reality they're in begins to fold in on itself. the trio tries to escape thru the akasha tripper portal, but then milo is grabbed and dragged back.
N'badu took control of kyurumon and used her powers to form a new human amalgamation. the energy from the peoples' prayers is closing the portal, so milo tells red and bisco to leave him behind. he'll defeat n'badu and rejoin them later. red is hesitant, but bisco says they should always trust when milo says he'll do something.
Milo defeats them quite fast and sets everyone's souls free. n'badu is extremely pissed about this defeat to the point he no longer cares about going after red. the portal closes behind milo, and he considers what to do to get out now.
Blue's soul appears and she passes on her powers. she says he has the potential to attain new powers that no one's ever imagined. blue's soul, as well as all the others around him, are absorbed into the emerald cubes, and the unstable spacetime reforms into something new...
While n'badu kept the trio distracted, rust had gone to the main timeline.
He destroys the banryou-ji tetsujin instantly. pawoo fights him, only to create a repeat of what happened to red in her final battle: rust's body explodes to pieces and pawoo thinks she won, only for rust to reform and attack her while she's unaware.
Tirol is frozen as she watches pawoo get beaten bloody by rust, unable to hold a candle to his power. T: "Someone, please, save her...! Save my friend! I'll give you all the money I've got, just please...!"
Rust threatens to kill tirol unless pawoo gives up her soul, to which she agrees. rust then goes to kill tirol anyway, but is stopped by a rainbow-colored blast. S: "You promised all your money, so give it!" T: "?!?!" S: "Juuuust kidding!" T: "She really IS the daughter of those idiots..."
Sugar heals pawoo and lets the two escape while she faces rust. for the first time ever, rust feels excited, knowing there's a chance he may lose.
Red and Bisco (still a kinoko btw) are stuck in the cold, dark subspace tunnel after the exit back to the main timeline closed.
Red summons all the souls from her body and uses them to form a path that points to where the portal should be. without the soul's power in her she loses not only her tattoos, but she feels incredibly cold and exhausted.
Bisco offers up his soul if it means keeping her alive. she refuses it, so instead he heats up his own body using the spores inside him, and acts like a heating pad to keep red warm.
Somewhere else, Milo wakes up.... standing at the front of a college classroom giving a presentation. he finishes his report on apollo particles and the perceived benefits and dangers of it. the professor praises him for a great job and class is then dismissed.
B: "Well that was something. You spend your free time thinkin' about that sorta stuff?" M: "Of course not, I just chose that topic because it would make the professor happy." B: "Gross." M: "Lying is the key to getting ahead in life!" he says with a wink. "By the way, are you ready for your presentation next week?" B: "All I gotta do is read the script you wrote me, yeah?" M: "No! You need to rehearse what you'll say if the professor asks questions too ... I'm trying to make sure you graduate, so come over to my place again to practice!"
Milo latches on to bisco's arm and asks if he wants to go out for ice cream. but as they're walking, things start to go wrong. someone drops chemicals out a window over their heads. a professor uses an apollo particle-powered canon to kill students. bisco acts like everything is normal.
Bisco offers to help with the professor's 'tests', aka volunteering to be killed. milo takes bisco's place, absolutely refusing to let him die. just as he's about to be shot.... domino appears.
She fights the professor (n'badu), saying that blue created this space and n'badu has no right to be in it.
Bisco, who is merely part of the illusion, acts as n'badu's ally and shoots at them. domino 'kills' him, and milo tries to rush to his aid.
Domino chases off n'badu and helps milo wake up from the hallucination.
Domino leads him to where blue wanted, so he can learn the soul absorption technique...
Red's dreams: red absorbs actagawa's soul and gains the crab god's bow, which is said to have a power equal to a hundred million souls. if rust gets hit with a single shot, even he would die from running out of souls to restore himself with.
Red is unable to get the bow to draw. blue uses a mantra whip to snare rust, but he isn't fazed. he grabs blue and holds her hostage, yet even so blue still tells red to shoot so they can win - so they can protect the future of the world for sugar.
Red fires.... and misses. blue is tossed by her feet. She missed to not hit her partner. As long as Milo was alive, as long as she at least had her partner by her side, then...
But rust took that away from her too, killing blue by tearing out her heart. Red screams in anguish and tries to comfort blue as she dies.
Rust tells her to stand up and fight, but red refuses over and over. she's going to die with milo. she begs rust to hurry up and kill her already...
Red wakes up in a fit, upset for wasting the lives of everyone who loved her and upset at bisco [/herself] for being loved by everyone when it's impossible to live up to their expectations. B: "If you don't wanna fight the rust god, then you don't have to. You should just live the life YOU want." R: "But then everyone's love for me would have been for no--" B: "People don't love you just because they expect something from you in return."
The voices in red's mind telling her to fight and win were not the souls, it was her own voice. SHE was the one burning. but even if bisco tells her 'live how you want,' what can she do in a world where everyone she loves is already gone?
Bisco invites her to come to his world and live with his family. R: "Won't it be kinda complicated havin' 2 Biscos around?" B: "I'm already havin' to do the work of 2 husbands, so havin' another Bisco would make it even out." Red smiles and agrees to it.
The subspace tunnel's raging blizzard is gone. red calls the souls back to her body, and they glow rust eater orange now, instead of the ashura red they had been before. she feels she's realized her true self, granting her a new form of power.
She summons a new weapon called the Atman [True Self] Crossbow and fires it, tearing open a new exit in the subspace tunnel.
Main universe: back to sugar and rust's battle. rust questions why sugar is fighting so hard to protect the earth when living is only a series of suffering and chasing after dreams that may never come true. R: "Protecting these lifeforms amounts to nothing more than prolonging their suffering ... Let us work together to free the humans from having to live in fear." S: "The one living in fear is you! ... The reason you grant wishes all the time is because you're scared of what humans could accomplish by their own power. People will never rise up if they never learn what they're capable of."
Sugar creates a giant chain to ensnare rust and drags him along the rocky mountainside. she goes to finish him off before his body reforms again, but collapses from exhausting almost all of her power.
Rust, having used billions of souls, begins to age. when he reforms, he looks like a man in his 20s instead of a child.
Rust strangles sugar until she passes out. just as he's about to kill her, n'badu takes over her body and begs rust to reconsider since sugar's powers could be useful to him. rust has no interest.
Realizing that n'badu is useless to him too, rust goes to kill the both of them. n'badu activates sugar's powers and tears open a hole in spacetime, allowing red and bisco to return.
With her new powers, red delivers a punch straight to rust's face and heavily damages him. feeling proud of herself, she touches her tattoos and tells everyone to watch as she finishes this.
Rust slices through her stomach... but gets stuck in her muscles. red uses the opportunity to punch the shit out of him, knocking limbs off and causing mushrooms to grow across his body. kinoko!bisco activates his choushin ability to heal red while she keeps fighting.
Rust continues to age. he forms his arm into a giant drill made up of layers of spinning gears, stabbing it straight through red's chest.
Red grits the pain as the drill keeps destroying her and bisco tries to keep up with healing the damage. she pulls rust closer and wraps her arms around him, activating her soul power and using her insane strength to crush rust's body.
Bisco warns that if he uses the choushin ability any longer, the amount of rainbowshrooms in her body will kill her. red is moments away from destroying rust, but bisco makes the decision to separate the 2 of them to save her life.
Red's chest wound heals completely. rust has cracked and aged to the point of a dying old man, and he panics at the loss of his youth and beauty. he grabs bisco... and sticks him inside his body to absorb his powers.
Overflowing with power once again, rust flies high into the air and sends giant spinning gears raining down across the continent, killing many people and stealing their souls.
She summons the crab god's bow, but rust mocks if she'll have the heart to fire it and kill her own self when she couldn't even kill blue.
Seeing her hesitate, bisco calls out to red. "I'm givin' you the name of 'Akaboshi Bisco', so...! Protect the planet I care about, and all the people who loved me! Use your bow to save all of it! BISCOOOOO--!!" The instant that Red heard Bisco's cries, she felt 'love' well up from deep within her. In that moment, Red felt a love for the self that stood before her eyes. (I get it now...) (I love...) (Bisco [myself]...)
With the power of her realized self-love, she transforms her bow into the Red Star's True Self bow ** . her arrow pierces thru bisco and rust... only for bisco to realize he isn't dying, but transforming back into a human.
Bisco falls from the sky and red catches him. he's confused how he's still alive, but red says that this is her own ultimate bow technique - it isn't meant to kill, but to let things live, just like the technique that jabi invented.
Rust has been restored into his all-powerful form, but red is calm. burning hot, red tattoos suddenly cover rust's body and destroy him from the inside out. red's arrow awakened all of the souls in him and they were now trying to escape.
Rust continues to burn but doesn't die. bisco says they should end things since they've already won. R: "Okay, we'll need the choushin bow." B: "Seriously?!" R: "We need a way to calm the souls and send them off, but my bow can't do that. We need your power, the choushin bow's power of dreams!" B: "But I can't do it without Milo...!"
Bisco tries to summon the choushin bow but fails. up til now he and milo had used their combined power/belief in each other to create it...
So red helps him, by believing that he can do it. by believing in bisco [themself]. and it works - they create and fire the Ultimate Self-Truth bow ***. the souls are calmed, and return to the great cycle of life.
R: "Man, you're so easy to use. Your big sister gives you just a li~ttle encouragement and you completely go off." B: "What part of you is sisterly? You're just 'big'." R: "Chose your words more carefully when talkin' to a lady, you shrimp!" They start fist fighting and rolling on the ground, but red pins him after a few minutes.
After an awkward moment of silence she thanks him. she leans in and... looks like she's about to kiss him...... bisco is confused and so am i as the reader. they both sit up in a hurry when they hear n'badu fly to them.
N'badu laughs maniacally and disrespects the pieces of rust's automaton-corpse. he reveals that he was the one who created him.
Red throws an arrow at him and takes off one of his legs, only for one of her own legs to disappear. red asks why they're connected like this, and n'badu states that not only did he create rust... but all of the existence that red had known, including herself. her entire timeline was made from a divergence in bisco's.
Seeing red fading from existence, bisco grabs n'badu and heals him to restore red's body.
N'badu projects a dark aura over them, showing memories of past battles and what could have happened if they hadn't won. bisco and milo managed to stave off destruction over and over, but all of those divergences to bad futures still existed within the subspace of reality. those divergences came together to manifest n'badu.
N'badu brings out the sugars of both timelines, using them and the remaining souls he has to form them into "sugar the universe-creator."
When bisco looks up to the sky, there is a giant goddess casting light over the entire planet. a new universe forms in her hands, turning the blue afternoon sky black as night.
N'badu says he is the father of the universe. he orders sugar to overwrite all of existence - every world, every timeline. bisco runs towards the goddess and n'badu orders her to protect him. with barely a flick of her finger, bisco's arm is torn off.
Bisco uses his remaining hand to reach out toward sugar, his voice weak. B: "Sugar... let's go home... we'll go home.... to Milo..." S: -My love. Who is this human?- N: "Oh, you don't even remember who Akaboshi Bisco, your own father, is?!" he exclaims with faked surprise. "He's your very, very beloved papa. Before you turned into the creator of the universe, you loved your papa and mama more than anyone else." S: -That is true.- Sugar and bisco look at each other, exchanging many words in a single look. despite her memories being gone, the bond of their hearts has not completely disappeared. N: "Ahh, how moving! ...Now what the fuck are you waiting for? Kill him." S: -Yes, my love.-
A beam of light pierces bisco's eye, yet he continues to look up at sugar....
TO BE CONTINUED.
The book ends with a teaser quote and placeholder title for volume 10:
“Do partners stay together forever? Until they die?” “Yeah.” ... Sabikui Bisco 10, the final volume: Promises
Other notes:
In the family beach scene, Bisco is still fully clothed besides his cape. he's developed a phobia of the ocean mostly because milo told him a scary story about how vengeful spirits all live at the bottom (milo didn't intend for him to take it seriously). he shivers from remembering "an underwater adventure" they did with actagawa a number of years ago, which I think is a reference to one of the short stories included with the anime BluRay discs.
When Red explains her nickname "Red the twinshroom", "red" is written as 火星, the planet Mars.
Pawoo trained bisco in using a staff so now he's much better at it.
Tirol's great-grandpa (the high priest) fucking died off-camera and we only get a single sentence about it, which says he died from eating too much daifuku. RIP king
The fake realities that n'badu and blue create are referred to as Svapna Akasha.
Male amli is taller than bisco.
Main universe amli saw her alternate self via dreams like bisco did. when she wakes up, she's sad that she's still short.
The college scene: we get to see more of domino's personality, which is that she's very girly and very self-assured. she has painted nails and checks if she needs to fix her makeup. she takes a selfie with milo.
The college scene: Milo scolds himself for not realizing bisco was a fake sooner - "He was weirdly obedient, didn't make sarcastic remarks, and didn't pick fights. I'm so stupid, someone so plain could never really be bisco!" the fake bisco also implied he didn't like sweets, which is very anti-real bisco.
Salt never existed in red's world.
** Red Star's True Self Bow: 真我赤星弓 (shinga sekisei-kyuu), pretty literal translation. and of course red star/sekisei is the same kanji as "akaboshi".
*** 真我超信弓 (shinga choushin-kyuu), i wasn't sure how to make this name short and understandable. since "choushin" means "ultimate faith", this bow's name is "ultimate faith in one's true self".
Red is mentioned to have a high-quality, extremely study cloak. she can use it to deflect attacks.
