Buuuut. i did follow deltatraveler's first release and more or less enjoyed it, zo i watched through shayy's playthrough playlist to catch up with things.

it's... mostly fine? as far as canon sans is concerned at least. i think he's accurate enough not to be grating, but I can't help but feel like the way the story handled the "we're from a different world" aspect so openly forced him to be upfront in a way that... isn't really him. they should've left him more space to feign ignorance imo. give him more of a "does he know?" vibe. that being said, i adored the idea of him repeatedly setting up shop with whatever useless bullshit he scavanged after crossing dimensions. "i'm just your convenient store guy" was downright brilliant. that being said WHERE is PAPYRUS. i hope they don't just leave him hanging like that, i feel like having the guy around would not only offer some fun plot opportunities, but also give sans something to bounce off of that feels more natural for his character.

as for the underfell section... I'm sorry that was goofy as hell lmfao. the take on papyrus was fun but i couldn't have cared less for sans. it's not just that he's violent, it's how he's violent. i mean... the lunge?? girl he can teleport. come on. i get it, different timeline, different events, something Bad obviously happened to him, but this is so exaggerated it's impossible to take seriously. i feel like if they wanted to keep him feeling like sans they should've leaned even harder in the friendly persona as a contrast to his... obviously murdery intentions. overall "violent #badboy with issues" is never going to be something that fits for sans imo.

Taemin leaving SM; a retrospective rant from a severely uneducated and overly caffeinated fan.

I have thoughts about Taemin leaving SM and by extention Onew too. Might as well drag Minho and Key into this.

Since this is majorly about Taemin, let's talk about him first.

Taemin & SM (pre-NGDA era)

Taemin has been with the company for 16 years, closer to 19 if you count his trainee days. As an older shawol (LLO-era, got me whipped BAD), it was seriously out of the blue that Taemin would be the first to debut solo. SM at the time (i.e in their prime) was a vocal powerhouse and I genuinely thought Jonghyun would be the first one to go solo. SM made the right decision dedicating time and resources in letting him shine and 'Ace' was a phenomenal debut album for Taemin and really stamped that 'Taemin vibe/sound' we all know and love' Generally speaking SM not the best for promotions/scheduling, but the company still had their shit together when 'Move' came out, it felt like it was everywhere and surpassed the noteriety Guilty had achieved. I feel like when Taemin does variety shows, up to now, Move was always the most referenced and remembered act, even amongst the junior idols, that he did and thats because SM did go hard on promoting that song and picked a quiet month to do that comback in.

Taemin vs SM (during/post-NGDA era)

Somewhere along the lines, SM really dropped the ball with promoting Act 1 especially during Taemin's 'Criminal' comeback. They heavily prioritized their newer groups and suddenly their legendary acts were getting shafted with poor promotions and what felt like less dedicated management and resources. I recall, SM postponed the release for Criminal, squashed Taemin in Super-M activties and focused on their new acts while simultaneously over working them (honestly Mark has had such a hectic few years). My internal speculation/assumtion is that, SM figured that acts like SuJu, EXO, SHINee, GG and RV and solo/ duo units, wouldn't need as much dedicated promotions because they are iconic acts and they are fully dependant on fanbases to generate the buzz. Which leads me to my main hypothesis that after a few years of being active, SM really does not care about an artist anymore. Mind you artists that put them on the fucking map to begin with. SM won't double down on these artists because they believe they can't appeal to a younger audience. With the shitshow that was the Criminal promotions. SM really didn't do any better with 'Advice'. Pinning aespa's comeback a day before was a low blow instead of focusing on the talent that's about to go into the military, if they are aware enough to give Taemin a mini comeback so his relevancy sticks throughout his service, why damage it with an aespa release (that felt like it was to tactically avoid facing off the BTS release later than month) and basically doing NOTHING bar announcing pre-orders. Then we enter the 'Guilty' era. Which as we saw was a hit, but mainly because SM capitalized on the power of social media trends, placing Taemin in VARIOUS online contents and slowly dropped related media during winter. I mean we are still not over his 'Guilty' era, the Metamorph concert still has us at a chokehold. I 'd like to think that Taemin became more vocal in what he wanted and expected out of SM when he came back. Obviously the priority to them is/was SHINee and that's fair. DCM did really well with promos (althoughlike most shawols would say, LSM did have a major part to play with that). HOWEVER it was their 15th anniversary comeback last year and I feel like SM treated it like it was just another comeback instead of a major milestone. There were no interviews or press releases for Hard, when events were happening, it felt like it was gate kept to just local fans, like it made me feel like I was living under a rock because it was so last minute and I was not aware of anything. I want to believe that just because SM did an okay job now, excuses them for the last 3 years. What's worse is it's undeniable, Taemin lives to perform and it's no secret he sets some high goals and standard for himself and probably the toll 1) not getting to preform Guilty in GDA, despite wanting to and 2) probably not getting a solid backing for touring globally, despite very vocal fan support. I am not sure if anyone saw that SM forecast for the first two quarters of 2024, but it genuinely feels like Taemin knows that him and SHINee will not be a priority after promotions are finished. I hope I am not dense enough to assume that obviously SHINee has spoken about this privately and internally for a while now. It's really something you can't avoid talking about. Taemin has spoken to his hyungs, people in his circle inside and outside of the industry. Hopefully he is well informed and supported and it seems definite that SHINee is still active as a group.

Key vs SM.

Someone has already mentioned it but if anyone was leaving SM for creative freedom, I genuinely thought it would be Key. 'Bad Love' was an amazing release and Key fought with SM to release with his own brand/aesthetic. Because Taemin's imminent departure is so publicized, SM might be keeping the talks with Minho and Key super under wraps and trying to offer a btter deal. Although recently, bar Good and Great, SM has been using Key as a 'Variety' idol than an actual singer, which sucks because Key is super talented and if SM doesn't recognize that star power now, good luck to them. Also apparently, Kany is signed with BPM? I know she is close with SHInee in general, but I would assume it'd be Key joining her ya'know?

Minho vs SM.

Imma put it out there, the promotions for 'Stay for a Night' was lackluster? I feel like they treat solo Minho and SHINee Minho as two separate entities. Like yes there is a dualism of being a group preformer vs solo preformer. But on the rare occasion SHINee does get promoted Minho seems to get more attention, but as a solo artist, I don't feel the same love for his solo promotions. I hope Minho gets to write and contribute more, which I believe he does in the background. If he does stick to SM, I pray they open other avenues of artistry, primarily, he does really well with his acting roles and yes it really helps that he does fit the 'K-drama ML' look.

Onew vs SM

I feel like Onew gets the short-end of the stick out of the rest of SHINee, never mind that the man has the voice of an angel, but again, he is another one that SM never bothered to market right. It kind of make sense that he would want to leave the company and seek ones that would expand his career inside and outside of singing and while the one good thing SM did recently is make sure Onew was healing and taking care of himself, recent SHINee promo activities feels like they are treating Onew's break as a hush hush 'taboo topic' Honestly, bring back the era where our idols would randomly disappear during promotions because they were casted to be on-stage again. I am still forever clinging onto Onew singing opera, because despite him not being trained for that, he has the talent to do so. It'd be nice to hear him produce his own music, or give acting another shot.

Oh boy here we go again

This statement is giving me major stranger and flesh vibes. Maybe a bit of spiral I've been thinking a lot about desire because that's a common theme others have noticed and I see that in this one as well. The desire to eat, the desire to consume. That might be a but out there, idk.

The stranger thing is really obvious, but I want to break it down anyway. The approximation of human speech really got to me. It was like I could hear it. And the features replicating acrosses faces. I know I'd never be able to pick that up, but I know that it would feel just the littlest bit off, which would be obviously disorientating. And then the eating flesh thing. There is something to be said for the monstrousness of people who eat other human flesh. There are long recorded myths, legends, and religions that state that those who eat human flesh become sick or otherwise monstrous. It's often that they continue to look human, but are somehow other. I think, whether or not that's intentional, adds an interesting stranger-themed layer

Also the fact that no one noticed the narrator was gone. Sounds like a not-them type sitch. to me

You know what makes me really happy? Gerard sounds happy. He sounds like he's enjoying himself. He sounded cynical and sort of mirthless in his MAG episode, which makes sense, considering he's dead. He sounds genuinely happy. I'm curious about how much of what he said was the truth. He seems to take cues from Gertrude and if she's anything like MAG Gertrude, she has no qualms lying when she feels it's in her best interest.

So, I'm thinking about that old concept art ishiwatari made that had a.b.a's beta design, which, wasn't really that different, aside from her top having an x mark, her holding a sorta small ax and chewing on either a key shaped lollipop or a key (later concept art which I assume is after her design started to simmer shows the first option, but as we don't know if those are related, we can only speculate) but the big difference was... Paracelsus! He was a carbon copy of A.B.A's head key (no, before you ask, they didn't give her finalized key a skeleton design to homage betacelsus, both para and her key were supposed to be the same!) albeit with more detail.

What if beta paracelsus straight up shapeshifted exactly into her head key as a stronger way to gain her trust? Let's be real, being born with that skeleton key, I theorize it's one of A.B.A's most consistent things about her enviroment. Whatever shit happens she has a skeleton shaped key in her noggin, always. (Though it seems to have changed a bit in strive, of course! But you could argue before all that the key was kept in place.. classic a.b.a's head key is rusty, I wonder if her creator just didn't care about her getting tetanus or it just actually deteriorated by not being well-kept :( )

That'd make paracelsus' shapeshifting more insidious... But of course we don't even know if betacelsus was even alive or just an idk demonic looking cool (inanimate?) Weapon. It's what I ASSUME to be very early concept art, not in the final product and, hell, if I understood well the strive interviews, the implication was that para's shapeshifting into a key isn't complete, so the "yeah by xx era he has perfectly shapeshifted into her skeleton key but upscaled" wouldn't work.

Part of me ponders if the skeleton key thing is a reference to.. actual skeleton keys! I'll paste their wikipedia definition so you know why that name:

A skeleton key (also known as a passkey[1]) is a type of master key in which the serrated edge has been removed in such a way that it can open numerous locks,[2] most commonly the warded lock. The term derives from the fact that the key has been reduced to its essential parts.[2]

As far as I've been able to find, japanese says a word translated as master key for master keys, but I haven't been able to find if the skeleton type is a thing in japanese or if it even shares the naming. However, I don't understand japanese (it was by translator) so please take my pondering about the existance of skeleton keys in said language with a mountain of salt.

But, even if that wasn't a term in japanese, whose to say the team didn't pull inspiration from an english term? Thought not the same situation, afaik, they've already chosen a bunch of terms from different languages for some gg topics. Maybe they didn't but it would be a fun coincidence!

A big part of me thinks maybe this isn't this deep and they just went with a beautiful (esp betacelsus with all the spine details) skeleton design cause.. Well, they are creepy which fits A.B.A's vibe pretty well, lol

Coming in dead last is this disgustingly tragic and confusing combination of frozen mini pizzas and what appears to be a stemless wine glass full of orange juice??? positively hanging on for dear life to a thin, cracked cutting board that looks like it started its life in the Target dollar spot. I can't imagine a more nightmarish stain on my bland white sheets or frustrating debris to try and drain from my laptop keyboard than the pukey combination of marinara sauce and sticky juice, nor can I imagine a more depressing excuse for a comfort meal. All I can think of looking at this cursed image is innocently uncrossing my legs and flipping the entire set-up over, spilling sugary milky foamy pumpkin coffee all over my twee cotton sheets, crushing burnt cookie crumbs all up in my grill, poopy melted chocolate chip stains everywhere, and setting my fluffy synthetic pillows ablaze. 2. I had to really study this one and decide if it was the same person as the previous photo. It may be, but this one features some important upgrades - that mug may possibly be coffee, the gray sweater looks fuzzy and comforting, cute manicure, and the cinnamon rolls are positively drowning in icing which I respect. I am once again judging your casually open book you fucking liar, but I enjoy the natural lighting and practical desktop surface. I refuse to entertain the thought that a GG rewatch can hit even a little bit on a tiny propped up iPad though. Give me a big TV and a couch/bed or nothing. 5/10

Darius whirls, jerking his arm out of the offending grip, and finds himself face-to-face with Hunter. No mask, full uniform, staff gripped in his other hand.

He’s about to snap something about personal space, but then Hunter grips his arm again and drags him through a previously-unseen gap in the castle wall. Possibly a previously-nonexistent gap.

Darius finds himself in a narrow stone alcove, the opening concealed behind a tapestry. Hunter presses him back against the wall, releasing his arm in favor of pressing a gloved hand over Darius’s mouth.

Darius makes an indignant noise. Titan only knows where the fabric has been lately.

“If it was anyone else,” Hunter murmurs, his eyes focused, intent, boring into Darius’s own, “this would be a different conversation. But I just need to check. Are you going to tell anyone?”

Darius flicks a glance down at the offending hand, raising an eyebrow. Hunter removes it from his mouth.

“Tell anyone what?” he says.

“Darius.”

“Honestly. Right now all I’m thinking about is how irritated I am with you. You give me a heart attack thinking someone’s trying to murder me, and then you get your slimy gloves and these slimy walls all over my clothes. I literally don’t know or care what you’re talking about.”

You were all passing around apple blood and sharing gossip about weird former high school classmates. The irresponsible party vibes were astounding. 1. neil josten: definitely that one k-pop idol who korean fans hate but international fans love. man’s definitely created a twitter/tiktok account dedicated to defending his members (especially a certain andrew minyard) that somehow managed to blow up so he’s basically living a double life lmao. he gives me main dancer energy but i feel like he could also be a main rapper

2. andrew minyard: he would be the k-pop idol that everyone thinks is untalented and unskilled and like makes everyone so confused as to how he debuted but then suddenly actually put effort into performing one day and everyone’s like “holy shit he’s actually GOOD???” he gives me all-rounder vibes ngl but i feel like he’d be a good singer (please tell me if he’s like canonically a shit singer or smth that would be so funny)

Oh god yeah I celebrated the 1 year anniversary of the Brisket <3 meme on Twitter earlier this month and had a bunch of those transphobic wackos in my notifs. They're nuts. I got death threats over it (over a meme) and they weren't even good ones? They were like... roleplaying some kind of "patient zero" zombie scenario in the comments lmao It just gave me the impression that they were lonely teenage boys going through their edgy phase than anything else.

That said, there were SIGNIFICANTLY more people being trans-positive and excited over both the meme and Bridget than there were assholes. The GG fandom's pretty good, honestly. Even the stuff I've seen in archives from before the big explosion in the fandom's size with Strive has been mostly positive. I think there're enough dedicated level-headed people in this fandom/community that it's going to stay a good place, too. The trolls'll get bored and move on eventually, leaving just the people that genuinely care about the series to do normal fandom stuff together
