Could you possibly write more soft Gale fics? He just deserves so much love and healing. I really liked how you wrote Reverence. Sorry I don’t have a more specific ask, I’m not very good when it comes to fic ideas.
Absolutely I can, I love writing for Gale so much, and he really does deserve the world. Thank you for the request and I hope you enjoy!
Late Night Book Club | Gale x Reader
No matter what you try, you just can't seem to sleep. Between nightmares and insomnia, you start to think you might never get a good night's rest again.
Gale seems to share the same issue.
While you might not be able to completely solve your problems, at least the two of you aren't alone in them anymore.

For whatever reason, you find yourself awake far later than everyone else. This shouldn’t be too much of a problem, if it wasn’t for the fact that this was the second night in a row where sleep eluded you to the point of exhaustion. The little amount of sleep you did manage to get was plagued with uncomfortable dreams that teetered on the edge of nightmares, making sure the rest was fitful. You knew you had to sleep; you couldn’t hope to lead the group if you were barely able to stand tomorrow. It’s frustrating. It isn’t like you aren’t trying to sleep either; you laid there for hours before finally giving up and leaving your tent to tend to the fire that has steadily burnt down to the last embers. It’s here where Gale finds you.
The look on your face only adds to his concern at seeing you up so late. You don’t notice his approach, another thing that makes Gale think something must be wrong.
“Is everything alright?” He asks softly, though the sudden noise still startles you. He watches you turn and immediately relax when you realise it’s only him.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Sorry,” you apologise, but you aren’t exactly sure what you're apologising for. Perhaps it's for letting all of them down with your inability to sleep, knowing you’ll hold them back tomorrow. Then you notice that Gale looks just as tired.
“Is there anything I can do?” He asks.
You’re sure your exhaustion is evident enough, you can feel the weight under your eyes. A part of you hates feeling like you need to be taken care of. You don’t want to acknowledge that help would be both welcome and useful, but you know these feelings are simply a byproduct of the exhaustion that weighs on your shoulders. You can’t fault Gale for wanting to help.
“No, it’s alright. You need your own rest.” The day had been tough on all of you. Gale, though talented when it came to magic, was pushed to his own limits today.
“Very well. Would you at least allow me to sit with you for a few moments then?” Gale asks.
You only nod, and Gale sits beside you on the ground. You’ve managed to get the fire going a little stronger again, and the warmth is appreciated by both of you. You’re suddenly aware of just how close you are, knees almost touching. You blame the warmth in your cheeks on the fire.
“If there is something bothering you, I am more than happy to listen.” There is genuine care in his words. He is worried about you. As much as you don’t want to burden your companions with your troubles, he seems adamant that he wants to hear them.
“I can’t sleep is all,” you admit. “It’s nothing serious. Just can’t sleep, and then when I do my dreams end up waking me up again.” It feels childish to say that your dreams are the primary culprit of your lack of sleep. You’ve been through so much in the past weeks, but it’s nightmares of all things that finally get to you.
But Gale doesn’t laugh. He doesn’t tease you. Instead, he looks at you with only sympathy and understanding. He doesn’t pry any further, and you’re thankful.
“What about you? Why are you still up? If you want to share, of course,” you’re quick to add. You don’t want him to feel like he has to tell you his own troubles just because you told him yours.
“We have similar problems it seems,” is all Gale answers. You return his earlier kindness by not pressing him to elaborate either.
The two of you sit there in comfortable silence again.
“I understand if you wish to remain alone, but if you ever wish for company when you cannot sleep, you are always most welcome to visit me.” He says it so quietly, hesitantly, but not unsure. Knowing you don’t need to spend the nights awake alone, at least, is a comfort, and the thought of spending the time talking with Gale is pleasant; even if that time is simply spent sitting near to one another.
You smile. “I might take you up on that offer.”
Gale gives you a fond look. The golden light of the fire makes him look soft and at ease, though, maybe that’s only because he’s with you.
“I think I’ll try to sleep again. Thank you for this, Gale.” You stand, and he does the same.
“Anytime.”
Sleep still doesn’t come easy when you return to your tent, but eventually you’re able to get, at least, a little bit of dreamless sleep before you’re awoken again. The gaps between sleep and consciousness are still more frequent than you want, but it’s better than nothing.
---
The next day is rough. Gale doesn’t look like he had much luck with sleep either, and you’re almost thankful because he is more inclined to ask the group to slow down than you are. Maybe the others can tell that you’re also struggling, because no one complains when the steady pace is interrupted.
Perhaps some god out there is looking out for you, because the day’s travel is mercifully uneventful.
Setting up camp again is a chore. You do your best to help where you can, but you can barely stand as it is.
“Get some rest, soldier. We’ve got it from here,” Karlach says to you, voice quiet. You know she’s trying to be nice, but it feels like pity and you hate it. You swallow your pride and thank her before returning to your tent.
Even though your body aches and your head is starting to hurt, when you lay down, you only end up staring at the roof of the tent. You suddenly just aren’t tired. You know you’re tired, because your body feels tired, but at the same time you aren’t , and it’s only partly caused by fear of the dreams you know await you. It’s frustrating to no end.
After another few minutes of laying there with your eyes closed, you finally give in.
Only a few of the others are still awake, sitting and talking with each other around the fire. They don’t notice you skirting around the edge of camp towards Gale’s tent. It’s not that you feel like you need to keep this a secret, you just don’t think you have the energy to talk to anyone besides the wizard right now.
“Gale? Can I come in?” You ask softly outside the tent. You know he’s awake; you can see shadows that dance across the walls.
“Of course,” Gale answers. Before you can move to open the tent flap, he waves a hand and it opens for you.
“What a gentleman,” you tease, but even you can hear how tired you sound.
“Always for you,” he returns with a smile, but there’s a truth in his words that brings a warmth to your face.
You finally notice how cosy his tent is. There are several books, all of them stacked in piles that must be organised in a way you can’t discern. The ground is covered in plush blankets and pillows. Fluttering around the top of the tent are small, almost iridescent orbs of light, some purple and others blue. They give enough light for Gale to read, but keep the tent dim enough to be pleasant.
“Please, sit down, make yourself comfortable.”
You sit beside him; closer than you were last night, leaning against his side slightly. You peer over at the book in his hands, surprised to find it isn’t some arcane tome. As far as you can tell, it’s just a normal adventure novel.
“Don’t let me interrupt you, you can keep reading.” Even just sitting here beside him is enough of a comfort; the tension already starting to seep out of your shoulders. You don’t want to talk about anything yet, and you figure that Gale shares the same sentiment.
“Do you want me to read to you?” Gale asks, and though you almost think he’s joking, you realise he really means it.
“That would be nice.”
And it is. You’ve always enjoyed listening to him talk; Gale has a lovely voice. He picks up where he left off when you got there. He wasn’t too far into the book yet, but he still pauses occasionally to explain something. Eventually you close your eyes, focused only on his voice, the details of his words getting blurry.
“Can we lay down?” You mumble tiredly.
“That’s a good idea,” Gale says with a smile, having already noticed the way your head has begun to dip forward as sleep begins to pull at you.
It takes a bit of coordination, but eventually you’re both underneath the thick blanket that Gale pulls tighter around the two of you. You move closer to him, your head underneath his chin, and he wraps an arm around you. He’s warm, and you feel safer than you have in weeks. He starts reading again, fingers playing idly with your hair. Within another minute, your breathing has evened out and you’re fast asleep.
Gale folds the corner of the page to mark where you two left off and closes the book before he sets it aside with the countless others. Eventually, he manages to fall asleep too.
Both of you still wake up a few times in the middle of the night. You didn’t expect this to be some miracle cure for your sleep problems, but having Gale there holding you when you wake up makes getting back to sleep a little easier. The same can be said for Gale who wakes up several times, only to be calmed down once he feels your arms around him. The two of you are able to get a good rest, and when you wake up in the morning you don’t feel the same ache in your bones as you did the past few mornings.
It becomes a sort of routine between you. In the evenings, after everyone leaves for their tents, you follow Gale to his or he follows you to yours. Then he reads to you, and sometimes you read to him, and you both let sleep find you in each other's arms. The nightmares are getting more bearable, and even on the worst nights when neither of you can sleep no matter how much you try, at least you’re there together.
---
It’s been a week since you started this arrangement. The book is nearly finished. Gale had promised to let you pick out the next one.
He brushes through your hair with one hand, the book held open in the other. You listen while he starts reading the last few pages. The hero who’s story you’ve been following through the novel culminates in one final battle against evil. It’s cliché, you think to yourself, and then smile because isn’t this exactly your own life now? And what hero story is complete without a lover to kiss them at the end, which is precisely what happens. Good prevails, and the hero gets their true love.
Gale feels your smile against his neck and, for reasons he understands but doesn’t want to admit yet, feels a warmth flood his cheeks.
“The End,” he announces, snapping the book closed with a flourish, earning a laugh from you. “What did you think?”
“It was nice. It felt more like a romance novel at the end.”
Gale hums in agreement. “Yes, but I think that's what I enjoyed most.” He puts the book down then returns to hugging you close to him.
“I agree, it felt natural.” You hope Gale understands what you mean.
He does.
The two of you have been dancing around this for a while now, neither one of you ready to acknowledge it. But there’s something about tonight that feels different.
You lean back to look at Gale’s face, bringing a hand up to guide a strand of greying brown hair behind his ear. Your hand lingers on his cheek, thumb brushing gently across his skin. He puts his own hand over yours, moving it to kiss your palm. It’s a careful gesture, tender and nervous all at the same time.
When you move to kiss him, he meets you halfway. It’s a soft kiss; a testament to these nights you’ve spent together. When you part, you rest your forehead against his. The way he looks at you makes your heart swell: like you mean everything to him.
He kisses you once more before you tuck your head into the crook of his neck. He holds you like he’s scared you’ll disappear, and you tighten your arms around him as if to answer: 'I could never.'
You both sleep the best you have in weeks, still there for each other each time you wake.

hi this is the first date fic that i deleted out of hatred about two months ago. sorry for that! i won't write a part 2 but due to demands, i'm reposting this. fank u <3 harry and yasmine of course.
***
“I want to take you out,” Harry says while clearing the dishes.
Yasmine looks up at him, alarmed. “I haven't wronged you that much, I’d argue.”
He snorts, shaking his head. “No. Out. On a proper date.”
“Oh.” Yasmine frowns. “You don’t have to.”
He puts the dishes into the sink, mentally vowing to do them before they go to sleep. Or just him, if Yasmine doesn’t want to stay over in his room for a second night in a row. He’ll try his hardest to convince her anyways. He’s a master at persuasion, but his girlfriend is also as stubborn as a fucking rock.
“Why not?” He returns to her on the couch, throwing an arm over the back. “You really don’t think I’m romantic? I’ll let you know that I’m great at all that stuff. And when finals begin, we’ll get too busy with grading and studying so I think it’s a great time to do that now.”
Yasmine looks torn, which really perplexes him. “Are you so worried about being seen with me, Yasmine?” he jokes.
“No,” she answers slowly. Too slowly. She looks back at the TV. “It’s just that I haven’t been on a real date like that before.”
“Poor baby. But I haven’t even told you what we're going to do. You might hate the idea.”
“The fact that you called it a real date tells me all I need to know.”
He smiles, the back of his hand brushing against her shoulder. “You’ve never been on something called a real date?”
“I don’t think so.”
She looks so cute, frowning like that. He can’t help it. He leans over and kisses her head. She scowls at him. He doesn’t mind a single bit.
Yasmine doesn’t pull away though. After staring him down with her dark, intimidating eyes, she leans in and rests her head on his shoulder. “Fine. We can go on a date.”
“Don’t make it sound like it’s a death sentence, Yasmine.”
“It depends on where you’ll take me.”
He leans his head on hers. “We’ve never gone to a good restaurant and had overly expensive yet mediocre food? Never went out for dessert either and swapped food. That’s what they do in romance movies.”
Yasmine takes his hand and puts it in her lap She squeezes her fingers around his before beginning to play with his rings. “And how many, on average, romance movies do you usually watch, Harry?”
“Oh plenty. I take notes too.”
“You’ve gotta let me see them sometime.”
He says, “No way. Take your own notes.”
“I don’t watch romance movies. Not as much as you apparently.”
He shrugs. “I’m a man with taste, what can I say? Maybe if you switched out a horror movie with a romance once in a while, you would–”
Yasmine shudders. “I’d never do that.”
“I seriously don’t understand how you don’t have nightmares. The last movie we watched, we literally saw someone get sliced in half.”
“And it was wonderful.”
He gives her a look. “Have you considered therapy?”
“Even more therapy? Give me a break.”
Harry’s arm is completely around her now. She’s left her hair out so it brushes against his cheek. He doesn’t mind that either, enjoying the feel of her soft strands. She usually keeps her hair in ponytails or buns, so he takes advantage and runs his fingers through it.
For some reason, Yasmine immediately feels the need to explain herself. “When I showered this morning, I didn’t dry it so I couldn't put it up.”
Harry shakes his head. “I love when it’s down.”
To this, Yasmine scowls again. “Stop.”
“I can’t stop.”
“Don’t look at me like that.”
He bites his inner cheek to avoid smiling. “I’m looking at you how I always do.” His fingers trail down, ghosting over her jaw. “Can you give me a kiss?”
Apparently not only has she never been on a real date, but she’s also never been with someone who shows her affection so outwardly. When she gets embarrassed, her defenses immediately go up, hence the blush currently spreading across her cheeks.
“No.”
“No?” He tilts his head. “Please?”
“No.” She looks away. “Go away actually.”
Harry laughs softly, wrapping his other arm around her too. He lifts her up into his lap and tightens his hold, making sure she can’t get away. Yasmine doesn’t exactly push him away, but doesn’t look at him either.
“Don’t be embarrassed,” he says, kissing her head again. “We’re dating. I’m allowed to–”
“You say things like that,” Yasmine interrupts, her face hot to the touch, “out of nowhere. It catches me off guard.”
He laughs again. “Okay. Sorry. I will give you warnings before I say something similar.”
“Good.”
“Yasmine.”
She begrudgingly turns her head. “What?”
“I am going to say something very ridiculously romantic and cheesy. Please brace yourself.”
Her jaw tightens. “That’s not what I meant!”
“Can I say it? Please, oh please?”
She crosses her arms. “Go ahead,” she mutters.
“I think,” he says quietly, twirling her hair between his fingers, “that you are the prettiest woman I’ve ever seen. And I’d really really like for you to kiss me.”
Yasmine’s face is so red, Harry wants to laugh once more, but he holds back, watching the words settle around in her head. “I hate you,” she whispers, her hands balled into fists. “You just say things.”
“I do say things,” he whispers back. “Because I want you to know precisely how I feel. I reckon one of us should be good at communication.”
“I am wonderful at communicating!”
“Oh yeah?”
Her lips thin. “Don’t oh yeah me.”
“Does it bother you? Poor baby.”
Yasmine’s eyes are narrowed. She stares at him menacingly for a full 3 seconds before her fingers slide into his hair, and she kisses him so deeply, he’s pushed back into the sofa. His grip tightens around her waist, a smile curling onto his lips. She may not be good at communicating verbally, but her body language gives it all away. She’s just as infatuated as he is. Harry’s other hand holds the back of her head. Fuck, he thinks to himself when she slides her hands down and grabs his collar, pushing herself further into his lap. She pulls away to steal a quick breath and then kisses him again. This woman.
Harry tilts his head back and lets her adjust herself on his thighs, her knees on either side of his hips. It seems like they always fall into this position whenever one of them is over and the other’s place, and if they’re together, he’d very much rather be doing this. No wonder they haven’t gone on a “real date” when this is all they do.
Yasmine pulls off of him, her eyes a bit glazed over but the frown still intact. It’s honestly impressive how dedicated she is to being upset with him. He cups her face. “You like me so bad.”
“I don’t!” she answers breathlessly.
“Are you refusing to go on a date with me because we can’t be doing this in public? Trust me, when I get you home, we’ll do this and so much more.”
She pinches his earlobe. “That’s not it.”
“I’d love to know what it really is then.”
Yasmine looks away, removing her hands from his collar, tucking them into her lap. She sighs and stays silent for some time while gathering her thoughts. Harry only watches her, too mesmerized by the expressions on her face before she speaks.
“I don’t know what to do on a date.”
Harry’s eyebrows raise. “What to…do?”
“Yeah,” she grumbles. “How to be normal.”
“Well, I can pick the first place to go. I actually had something in mind. Something we’d both like.”
She sighs again. “I guess what I’m trying to say is that dates are awkward and so far we haven’t been like that so I don’t want it to sneak up on us.”
Harry smiles. “Yasmine, first dates are definitely awkward. But we’ve been together for two months now. I don’t think there’s any weirdness between us or you wouldn’t be sitting in my lap right now.”
As expected, she immediately goes to roll away. He snickers and holds her down.
“Besides,” Harry says. “I think we get along very well. I just want to treat you to something nice. I didn’t think it would take this amount of convincing just to get you to go to dinner with me.”
“We’ve had dinner together.”
“I most certainly don’t hope you mean at the dining hall.”
“No…” She very clearly does.
He gathers her up in his arms. “Dinner this weekend then.”
“Aren’t you supposed to ask me?”
“I tried that. Now I’m ordering you.” He kisses her softly. “You will have dinner with me this weekend or else.”
She frowns. “Or else what?”
“Or else I will make you watch my favorite movie with me.”
She blinks.
“Of the Star Wars variety,” he finishes.
“No!”
“Yes!
She starts wiggling out of his hold so he lets her go. She’s on her feet. “You can’t make me!”
“Oh I can and I will.” He shrugs. “Wear something fancy, by way. I’m paying so all you have to do, my frightening girl, is show up and provide me with your company. It won’t be that bad.” He reaches for her hand. “Come on. I know you want to go out with me. I can tell.”
She doesn’t deny it this time. He’s mentioned the date so many times, so she's probably accustomed to the idea now. When she answers, it’s a nod, and when she tells him it’s late and she needs to go back, Harry tugs on her hand until she falls against him and says, “Wanna stay?”
(Yasmine’s glad he asked because there’s no chance in hell she’d straight up give him the satisfaction of asking him.)
***
At night, they’re cuddling in his bed when Yasmine suddenly turns her lamp on and moves to face him. He’s had his face buried in her hair, arms around her tight from behind, ankles crossed with hers. His eyes open when she turns, adjusting his hold.
“Hey,” she whispers.
“Hey back.”
“Are you sleeping?”
“I’m answering, so I guess not.”
“Hmm.” She searches blindly for his hand. He laces their fingers together. “When you say dress fancy, what does that mean? I don’t think I have fancy clothes.”
He closes his eyes. “You remember that one dress you wore a while back? The one that kind had a corset sort of middle?”
The silence that follows is so deafening, Harry opens his eyes to check if she’s fallen asleep. Instead, she’s staring at him with a weird look.
“What?” he murmurs.
“I only own one corset dress. The black one?”
“Mhm,” Harry says. “That one. The one with the sleeves that kept falling down your shoulders. So pretty.”
“I wore it a year ago.”
“Yeah.”
“How the hell do you remember that?”
He smiles. “Remember everything about you.”
“You didn’t even know me then.”
Harry hugs her. “I’ve always known you, Yasmine. You just never looked at me.”
“Oh I did plenty of looking.”
“Looking not ogling.”
“I don’t ogle!”
“Sure. But yes, wear that. With those black heels boots you wear with your dress pants for seminars. And leave your hair out.”
“You have so many demands.”
“Don’t let them fool you,” he murmurs. “I like you just as much in sweatpants.” Yasmine’s silent again. Harry chuckles. “Too much?”
“You are always too much,” she whispers. Despite her words, she snuggles in closer. He kisses her forehead.
Yasmine doesn’t ask him any more questions. She falls asleep against him, still holding his hand.
***
The day of the date comes, and Harry’s gone all out. Currently, he’s standing by her door, bouncing on his heels with anticipation.
He doesn’t even have the time to compliment her outfit and her beautiful hair. Yasmine looks at him and then the flowers in his hand, and then promptly shuts the door in his face. Harry leans against the frame and laughs quietly. “Oh come on! I couldn’t resist it.”
“No.”
“We don’t have to take them with us.” He reaches for the door handle, stepping into her apartment. “I just wanted to see that look on your face.”
He holds the flowers out to her, looking at her pointedly. “Go on. Take them.”
She slowly wraps her hands around the stems and takes them. As expected, her face is flushed with embarrassment. “Thanks,” she whispers.
“You look beautiful,” he continues, sweeping her into his arms. “The dress is just how I remembered.”
Yasmine pulls the dress down a bit. “A little short though.”
“Oh I know.”
“Of course you do.”
Harry watches her set the flowers neatly on her kitchen counter. She turns to him. “You look great too.”
“I know.” Harry’s gone for a more casual look with a black shirt, jeans, and a jacket. He has a hand tucked into his pocket, and he can tell just from how she’s looking at him that he looks damn well better than just “great.”
He holds a hand out. “Are you ready for a wonderful night with just me and you?”
She takes his hand and lets him tug her close. “Yes, however, I’ve thought a lot about it and I can’t agree with you paying for it all.”
“No, Yasmine. This is a real date.”
“I mean it.”
“I mean it too.” He holds her chin. “I really am.”
“We’ll see.”
“Yasmine,” he murmurs. “No.” He bends down to kiss her gently. “Now let's go. We’ve got reservations and I’ve got an Uber waiting downstairs.”
“Oh I can–”
“Which has already been paid for.”
She’s staring dagger at him when he smiles, pulls away, and begins to lead her out the door. When she’s finished locking up, he takes her hand, and starts to walk to the elevator.
“It’s going to be a good night,” he says, his eyes sparkling with excitement. “I promise.”

Hi! Could you please write a Lockwood x reader fic involving the prompt: You aren't well, but you don't want to skip training and make them worry, so you continue on as usual, thinking it's not that serious. But that's proven wrong when you faint right in front of them mid-fight. Mixed with the dialogue: "You hold it like this and- why are your hands trembling?" Thank you in advance! 💙
Pretty Boy
Tumblr media
Pairings: Anthony Lockwood x gn!reader
Content: mild swearing, whump (fainting as in the prompt), mentions of not eating or sleeping, cute flirty ending
A/N: thank you for such a great request!! I've actually also just got over being not well while I was writing this (I'm fine now and wasn't this bad!) so it was weirdly cathartic 😅
Word count: 2.3k
The blissful quiet of the kitchen at 35 Portland Row was shattered by an incredibly loud, almost violent sneeze. You threw your arm across your face just in time to catch it. That was weird. You never sneezed.
"Bless you," Lockwood frowned over the top of his magazine.
That was day 1.
On day 2, you were all out on a case, in a dilapidated Victorian house. In a divide-and-conquer strategy for such a big place, Lockwood and George had headed upstairs while you and Lucy stayed on the ground floor. Fumbling around in the dim light of the dining room, Lucy threw open the curtains to let in what was left of the evening sun, accidentally unleashing a cloud of dust which shimmered in the beam of your torch. You both coughed a little in surprise.
Your coughing didn't stop for the rest of the night.
Day 3 was spent relaxing, recovering from getting home in the early hours of the morning after a gruelling fight with a pair of Type Twos. Or rather, everyone else was relaxing. You were in your room, fluctuating between wrapping your shivering form in your duvet and throwing it off so you wouldn't melt into a puddle. The bowl of soup you'd made yourself for lunch grew cold where it sat untouched on your bedside table.
A sleepless night heralded the arrival of day 4. Your symptoms had mostly abated by the evening, and you desperately hoped to claw back a few hours of rest. By dinner time, bleary-eyed, you forced yourself downstairs to try and get at least one meal of the day. Fortunately, the kitchen was empty, so at least you didn't have to explain your recent lack of presence to anyone. Unfortunately, none of the contents of the fridge were even remotely appealing right now. You settled for a slice of toast which you took back upstairs. Two bites in, you felt your stomach flip. Great. The rest went straight in the bin.
A gentle knock sounded on your door the morning of day 5, after another night of tossing and turning without ever drifting off.
"Yeah?" you called wearily.
Lockwood poked his head in, dressed in a loose Henley T-shirt and sweatpants. "Morning. Just thought I'd check you were alright, you didn't come down for training." Oh shit. You and Lockwood had been doing weekly training together for months - it started not long after you joined the agency, when he'd come down to the basement for practice and found you already there, and you'd ended up sparring. It had happened a few more times, and eventually you fell into the habit of both going down on Friday mornings so much it became an unofficial appointment.
"Oh, sorry," you swallowed a yawn. "I lost track of what day it was. Give me five minutes."
"I sort of assumed you weren't coming down dressed Iike that." He nodded to your fuzzy pyjamas with a smirk, and you tugged shyly at the hem of the top. "Have you had breakfast?"
"Yeah." That was a lie. Lockwood studied you for a moment, and you wondered if he could see right through you, but then he nodded to himself.
"Alright, see you downstairs." He began to leave, but popped back at the last second. "I'm not saying the pyjamas are a bad look, by the way, they're cute, just maybe a bit warm for fighting in." He grinned again, and disappeared. What was that supposed to mean?
Five minutes later, as promised, you traipsed down the basement steps in runner shorts and a tank top. This was the last thing you wanted to be doing right now, but you loved getting one-on-one time with Lockwood and knew how much it would hurt him to break the tradition and how concerned he'd be about you if he found out you'd been ill.
Lockwood gave you another puzzled look. "Are you sure you're okay?" He'd seen you this low energy before, but normally only the day after a case.
You gave the most convincing smile you could muster. "Fine. What's the plan?"
He furrowed his brows once more, before apparently deciding against whatever he was thinking. "Okay, there was a new move I figured out on the last case. I thought I could teach you and see if you think it's any good?" That last part sounded so open and vulnerable. You could imagine what he was thinking - was it a fluke? Was it him overselling his talents? Did it look ridiculous? He got like that sometimes, needed snapping out of it. Reassuring. Your smile was more genuine this time.
"Sounds good, it certainly seemed effective."
You tried your best to concentrate while Lockwood demonstrated the move, really you did, but you were running on empty and the basement was so delightfully cool. Maybe if you just lay down on the floor for a bit, you'd sort yourself out.
"Did you get that?" Lockwood's voice cut through the fog of your thoughts, and you dragged your eyes up to meet his, which were nodding to your hands. You hadn't the slightest idea what it was he expected you to have got.
"Uhh…"
To your relief, he mistook your distraction for confusion and stepped closer to help, carefully off to one side to avoid the blade as his hands rested over yours.
"You hold it like this and- why are your hands trembling?"
You barely registered the alarm in his voice, or the uncontrollable tremor that was indeed present and spreading up your arms. Nothing in your body seemed to be responding properly any more. Did you still have hold of the rapier? Why was your chest so tight, not allowing any air in? An invisible wad had trapped in your throat, and you desperately sucked in a breath through your nose. Gosh, Lockwood smelled good. Lavender and bergamot. And he was pretty, too. So pretty. Those deep dark eyes, gazing at you with so much longing. No, not longing. He didn't do that, did he? Plus, he was frowning too much for longing. Concern? You didn't like it when he frowned. You tried to pout, but your lips didn't move. That was annoying. So were the lights. Had they always been this bright? It hurt. Everything hurt. You needed to leave. Now.
Panic took hold of the last working corner of your brain and sent a jolt of electricity down to your legs which finally reacted, carrying you shakily towards the stairs. You muttered something incoherent, mouth not quite as functional. The effort drained the last dregs of energy, and your legs stopped working again.
"Whoa, whoa-" a voice behind you gasped, hasty footsteps echoing. Who was that? There was someone else down here, wasn't there? You couldn't remember. Wait. There was a pretty boy, right? He seemed nice. You tried to tell him you were okay, you wanted to. As you pitched backwards, the silhouette of the pretty boy swam into view, blocking out the harsh lights above. That was better.
Everything went black.
You were laying somewhere warm and soft. That was odd. And it was less bright behind your eyelids. Where were you? Hadn't you been down in the basement? With the cold floor and the cold lights… and the pretty boy? Was he still here?
You tried to call out for him, succeeding only in a groan. The surface beneath you shifted by your feet in response, and your eyelids fluttered open a fraction. There he was. Framed by the golden rays filtering through the window behind him and dappling across his dark hair.
"Hey, pretty boy," you murmured. Proper words; that was more like it. Next step: opening your eyes fully.
Ah.
The pretty boy was Lockwood, brows knitted upwards as he shuffled further up what you gradually realised was your bed.
"Hey." His voice was thick, with the hint of a shake. "How are you feeling?"
You groaned again, moving to sit up. Lockwood instantly reached out, one hand on the small of your back and the other lifting the pillows to prop up behind you. "Been better."
Under any other circumstances, you think he'd probably have laughed. As it was, he huffed out a breath and you spotted a brief tic in his jaw. "That's a mild way of putting it. You collapsed in the middle of training. I had no idea what happened, I thought…" His gaze dropped to his lap as he trailed off. The silence clenched tightly around your heart. Eventually, he spoke again, still not looking at you, voice cracking and barely above a whisper. "I was so worried about you."
The tension in your chest pressed down further, and you thought you actually heard your heart shatter.
"Hey, Lockwood, look at me." You raised a hand, still trembling but for an entirely new reason, up to cup his cheek. At last, he looked. Those beautiful dark eyes were watery, and his nose ruffled as he tried to hold back the tears. "I'm okay, see? I'm here, I'm okay, and I'm so sorry for making you worry."
A warmth spread over the back of your hand as he brought his up to meet it. His fingers curled over yours, thumb rubbing calmingly across your knuckles. Whether the calming was for you or him, you couldn't say. "But are you sure you're okay? People don't just collapse like that, and you've been out all day." Your eyes widened a little as you glanced at your alarm clock. Almost 6. Wow.
"Honestly, it's nothing serious. Kind of stupid, actually; the irony is it all happened because I didn't want you to worry." That made him chuckle. That was promising. You continued. "I was ill - I don't know if it was a cold or flu or what - but that wasn't great to begin with, and then with it ruining my ability to eat and sleep I just… didn't have anything left to give."
You don't know what reaction you expected from Lockwood: frustration, confusion, disappointment perhaps. You certainly weren't expecting him to look quite so… guilty? "Why didn't you say something when I came to find you? We could have cancelled training." It came out sharper than you were expecting. Oh. There was where the guilt came in.
"I didn't want to break the tradition."
"To hell with the tradition if this is what it does to you!"
You faltered. Was it just your current condition, or had your mouth gone very dry? "Wait, I'm sorry, I didn't mean…" You took a steadying breath. "It's not just that. I don't mean it like it's some obligation. I love our sessions! Getting to have that time just for us, having it be our thing, it's the highlight of my week. And it's been a pretty shitty week so I wanted this one thing to be nice."
The fire in Lockwood's words died out, and he almost visibly deflated. His free hand reached up unexpectedly to brush a strand of hair from your face.
"Well, I'm glad it means that much to you, but next time will you please tell me when something's wrong? I can survive missing our date more than I can survive missing you."
Hold on.
You were definitely still ill. Your cheeks felt warm and your heart was pounding against your ribcage. That was the only possible explanation. Definitely nothing to do with the fact that the boy you'd been in love with for months had just called your training sessions a date. Oh god, you'd infected him too, his face was flushed. "Date?" you breathed.
"Only if you want it to be, of course, I don't want to jump to conclusions. Although you did call me 'pretty boy' barely five minutes ago, so I'm sure even George would agree with the legitimacy of my hypothesis." Oh, how you'd missed seeing that smirk he'd grown all of a sudden.
"I'm not entirely sure you can take the high ground on this one, love, when you said even more recently how you couldn't survive without me."
"I think so long as I'm right I can. Especially since, if we're going off who said something last, you couldn't even argue without calling me love."
"I wish we were still holding rapiers, I've got a chance of beating you at that."
Lockwood laughed, all earlier emotions replaced with nothing but tender affection. "Get some sleep, and then we can test that theory." He made to leave, but where your hands were still entwined you tightened your grip a little.
"Will you stay? Please? In case I didn't make it clear enough with fainting, I haven't been doing so great at the whole sleep thing."
When he nodded, you wriggled over to one side of the bed, allowing him to slip under the covers behind you. Everything about him felt cosy, and you snuggled towards that feeling. It took him aback for a moment until he draped an arm over your stomach, gently tugging you closer so the two of you slotted together like you'd been designed to fit one another from the start. His breath tickled your ear, but its constant rhythm slowed yours in turn. Your eyelids grew heavy.
"You know," you mumbled sleepily, "you could take me on a proper date. Only if you want to, of course, wouldn't want to jump to conclusions."
He squeezed you playfully. "I think I've got enough evidence to consider it. Lunch tomorrow if you feel up to it?" You hummed a contented agreement. As your eyes drifted shut, a feather-light kiss pressed against your temple. "Good night, love."
"Good night, pretty boy."

Soo I saw that you were looking for some writing inspiration/requests and I was wondering if you would be interested in writing a Thorin x Reader fic where Reader is part of the company and both of them really admire each other but are too afraid to admit it at first and before they confess their feelings there's some sort of miscommunication?
This just came to my mind and I hope it could inspire you a little :)
hey !! thanks so much for requesting something !! I tired my best but I have not written for Thorin before so sorry if he's a little ooc haha. Also sorry this took so damn long I kept starting and stopping and also screwed up my sleep schedule and then 3 days in a row kept getting stomach aches and just couldn’t write more than three lines T_T. If it feels inconsistent or confusing I’m sorry I got lost in the sauce and COULDN’T FIGURE OUT WHAT I WAS DOING but I hope you enjoy anyway :)
warnings : none details : reader is human, marriage plot that isn’t super important besides like ^^ the request
pre-post edit: I just went back and read the request again and this might not actually be what you asked for so uh, I’m sorry, but I’m gonna post this anyway bc well it’s written but if you don’t like it lmk and I will try again :)

It was safe to stay that Thorin was not the happiest camper when you joined the company, but he couldn't deny that you intrigued him a bit. Only a little though, you must understand.
You had joined the company a fair bit later, when they were stopped by the tolls. You had arrived just before Gandalf and saw the group tied up. You were going to ignore them and just carry on your way, after all it wasn't any of your business. But watching the little hobbit try and stall for time while none of the dwarves caught on was amusing enough for you to lend your aid. You had a talent for sneaking around, you made no noise when you walked, had no scent you left behind, and with little effort could blend into any environment.
You crept up onto the rock behind where the group of dwarves was tied and dug around in your bag until you pulled out a mirror. The sun was coming up and just peaking over the rock that the trolls had been staying behind. Laying down flat you brought the mirror in front of yourself and moved it until it caught the sunlight and began to reflect it. You bounce it around for a moment, attempting to get a good angle. Finally, you hit the troll standing farthest away right in the face, there was a small noise it made but it was cut off by it's mouth turning to stone. Quickly its head and shoulders and chest also turned to stone.
"Huh, you say something?" The one troll that had been talking to the hobbit said as he turned around along with the other one that was standing over by the fire. They both gasped and the one that had been talking to the hobbit rounded on the little guy again, "what did you little ferret do?!"
"Ferret?" The hobbit stuttered for a moment, doing his best to hop away but fell on his butt. "N-Nothing, I- we didn't do anything."
"Why you little-" The troll made to grab the hobbit but you quickly adjusted your mirror and light been to hit the troll on the side of the head. It started to turn to stone and in an attempt to stop it the troll reached up to block the light but only managed to turn his hand to stone. The other troll shrieked in terror.
"The dawn will take you all!" Cried someone from atop the bolder with a booming voice. A second later he slammed his staff down and the bolder cracked in two, letting the sunlight pour through. All the trolls turned quickly to stone and the dwarves set quickly to setting themselves free. You slid back down the bolder and pocketed your mirror. For some reason, you didn't immediately leave.
"I think we owe someone our thanks." Said a older white haired dwarf as he walked up to you. Gandalf followed him.
"Y/n, fancy running into you here, though I can't say I'm upset." The old wizard smiled at you. You smiled back at him.
"Good to see you too, Gandalf." You turned and offered a bow to the old dwarf and "the name's Y/n, at your service."
The old dwarf smiled, he seemed very pleased with your politeness, and bowed back, "Balin, at yours."
"Is this the company you mentioned Gandalf?" You asked turning back to your old friend.
"What do you know of this company?" Came a rumbling deep voice from your left. You hadn't realized that someone else had joined you. His arms were crossed and judging by the slight crease in his brows he was not very happy.
"Ah- well," you cleared your throat and looked to Gandalf for help but he offered none. "You must be Thorin," you bowed the same as you did for Balin. "I know of your journey, Gandalf told me." Yes, blame the old wizard, that's fine.
Thorin turned to Gandalf with a glare, silently demanding an explanation from him. Gandalf cleared his throat and shifted his weight on his feet slightly, "I first asked Y/n to be our burglar, however she refused me."
"I had family business to attend to at the time." You said and Thorin turned his glare onto you, you stiffened slightly and suddenly wished you didn't say anything at all.
"What are you doing here now?" Thorin asked.
"Well... I was looking for you guys. I figured if I followed your road I'd come across you eventually."
"Why?" Thorin was not looking very pleased. You felt small under his stare and began to fiddle with your hands.
"I was hoping that, well, you may have room for another walker in your company?" Your expression changed into something unsure as you shrugged your shoulders. All Thorin did was stare and you glanced at Gandalf for help.
"She can be of use Thorin, she's very quiet this one, great for sneaking around." Gandalf nodded his staff towards you.
"She also did just save our skins." Added Balin and you were very grateful he had not walked off.
Thorin thought for a moment, but it felt like en eternity. He eyed you up and down before turning away and beginning to walk off. "Fine. But don't slow us down. If you do you'll get left behind."
You've been traveling with the company since then. So far you've made very good friends with everyone but particularly Fili, Kili, Balin and Bilbo. Over time you've also begun to greatly admire the leader of this company, Thorin.
You couldn't deny that you thought he was attractive, you had thought that from the moment you met him. But it was more than just looks you liked about him, you admired how much he cared for his people, his sense of duty to bring them back to their home in Erebor. He carries such a huge burden all on his own and is able to do it with grace and dignity, you understood a little of what that meant, though on a much smaller scale. He was brave and even though he was a king he was always first to throw himself into a fight to protect those around him. And even though he seemed cold on the surface it's very obvious that he cares for all his companions and would do whatever it took to make sure they were safe.
"Watcha lookin' at?" You jumped, Kili had his face right next to yours leaning over your shoulder. He laughed and sat on the rock next to you with his back facing the fire, you smack his arm.
"How long were you there?" You grumbled.
"Oh I don't know, long enough to notice you staring dreamily off at my uncle." He clasped his hands together out in front of him and bat his eyelashes at you in a teasing manner before bursting out laughing like someone told the most hysterical joke known to man.
"I was not! I was just thinking and I zoned out..."
"Sure, sure, whatever you say." Kili said once he stopped laughing. "You know you're so obvious right? Everyone sees it."
"Sees what?" You asked with a raised eyebrow and Kili rolled his eyes.
"That you're in love with him!" Kili hit you on the shoulder. "I think it's a good thing personally, Thorin needs someone like you. Someone fun who can lighten his mood, he's always so stoic these days, believe it or not he used to be fun."
"I'm not in love with him." You said and put your chin in your hands, your mood had soured and Kili didn't understand why. "I'm due to be married."
Oh. Oh. Thorin stopped listening.
He had realized you're staring a while ago. He thought, or maybe hoped, that you where staring at him, but it seems you really where just zoned out and didn't realize you where looking in his direction. He started paying attention more when Kili wandered over and tuned in when the two of you started talking. But now he didn't want to listen, you were probably going to go on talking about whoever it is that you're going to be married to and he didn't want to hear it.
"You ok there laddie?" Balin asked appear at his side.
"Yes, why wouldn't I be?" And it came out a little more snappy than he would've liked.
"No particular reason, just looked like you were staring off into space. But by your tone it sounds like something is on your mind?" Thorin thought for a moment before deciding he shook his head.
"I'm going for a walk." Was what he settled on and he got up and left.
"You what?!" Kili said in shock. "What do you mean?"
"I mean exactly what I said. Once I go back home I am to be wed."
"You don't sound very happy about it..."
"I'm not." You said. "I don't want to marry him."
"Then why are you?" Kili sounded almost mad. You furrowed your eyebrows at him.
"Because I have to Kili. I'm the oldest in my family and with our dad dead I have to be the one to bring in money somehow. There aren't many jobs for women where I am and this guy has enough money to keep my family off the streets and well fed. The reason I decided to seek out this company and join the adventure is because this is the last one I'll be able to go on..." Kili was silent.
Suddenly he shot up on his feet and rounded the rock to stand in front of you. "Thorin is a king. We are going to reclaim our home that is filled with mountains of gold. Tell Thorin you love him and then you can be happy and save your family! It's as simple as that!"
"Thorin is a king. It's not as simple as that."
Kili was making that face he does when he's confused and upset. Eyebrows creased together, pouting, and over all looking like a sad puppy dog. "Get up," he said and tugged roughly on your arm to pull you to your feet.
"What are you doing?!" You half shouted at him as you tried to pry yourself free. "Let me go you lunatic!"
"I'm looking for my uncle." He said and you froze for a second before beginning to fight him again. "He deserves to be happy and so do you, all it takes is for you to admit your feelings to him."
"How do you know that's all it takes?" You snapped and stopped struggling for a moment. "How do you know he thinks of me in the same way I think of him?"
You were every serious, Kili however was not and was looking at you like you had just said the stupidest thing he had ever heard. He sighed exasperatedly, your face crumpled in confusion. "Where is he? Do you see, Thorin?"
You took a look around the fire, "um, no, I don't."
Thorin was walking through the woods, he could still see the campfire and hear the voices of everyone so he wasn't far if anything went wrong, but he was far enough that he couldn't properly see any of the individual figures. You had a fiancé? You were going to be married. Thorin didn't know how to describe how he was feeling in this moment. Upset? Mad? Disappointed? Perhaps blindsided was the word, but how could just being blindsided by this information be enough to make him feel this bad. Why did he even care so much?
Well actually he knew why he cared so much. It probably had something to do with that intense warmth that spread throughout him whenever he looked at you. That tightening in his chest whenever you smiled, even if it wasn't at him.
He had noticed a while back the way he was beginning to think of you, but he shoved it down. Hid it away in fear that it would start to interfere with this quest. He needed to make a conscious effort to treat you the same as everyone else. But he still always caught himself wondering if you were tired and needed to rest, if you were warm at night, if you had enough to eat or drink. After a battle or after running away from orcs he always made it a point to check on you personally and he couldn't relax until he did so.
When you first met he thought you were attractive. Just a passing acknowledgement that, for a human, you were nice to look at. But over time, after seeing the way you would blend with the others in conversation, how even though you were the best fighter you still valued the others safety and were willing to put yourself at risk, how much Fili and Kili liked you. You were so kind and unassuming and you always offered to help.
One thing that stood out to Thorin, and that he especially admired about you, was that you stood up to him. It might sound weird, but he liked that you questioned him, and when you thought he was wrong you pointed it out. It didn't happen often, but when you did say he was wrong about something you were usually right. You argued with him when no one else did and somehow he thought that was very attractive of you.
He let out a long sigh and rubbed his temples, all of this thinking was useless. And also making him feel worse, like the hole in his chest was growing. The laughing from around the fire tuned him fully back into his surroundings and with one last look around (so he could at least say he was checking the parameter) he started to head back to camp. As he exited the trees and came back into the little clearing he heard the sound of his nephew.
"Aha! There he is!" Looking to his left Thorin saw Kili and he was pulling you with him. Well, not so much pulling as he was dragging, you were tripping over your own feet with every step and looked about ready to fall.
Kili then yanked you forward, practically throwing you into Thorin with a grin on his face that Thorin just knew meant that Kili knew something he didn't. Thorin reached out and caught you before you could face plant. "Kili, what's going on?" You scoffed as you stood up straighter and brushed yourself off, you had a very sour look on your face that just made Thorin more confused and slightly concerned.
"Y/n has something to talk to you about." He said and winked before running off to go whisper about something with his brother. There was a long stretch of silence and it was very quickly becoming awkward.
Thorin cleared his throat, "there's something you wanted to talk to me about?"
You jumped slightly, Thorin was standing there, hands clasped behind his back and face as un-telling as ever. You chuckled, "oh, uh, it's nothing really. Not that important or anything, you know Kili this is just one of his- uh- things..."
Thorin just grunted in response and turned away. You probably could've used this opportunity to run away but for some reason you didn't. There was another long silence, the two of you just standing next to each other and looking at the rest of the company sitting around the fire. At some point you saw Gandalf look over at you two and when he looked away you could've sworn there was a knowing smile on his face.
"I hear you're getting married once you return home after the journey." Thorin said suddenly.
"What?" You said whirling to face him, "how do you know about that?"
"I over heard you and Kili talking about it." He answered simply and without looking at you. You creased your brows before turning back to look at the company and the fire. Thorin glanced at you, "whoever he is, he's a lucky man."
"And I an unlucky woman." You said with a huff. "I don't want to marry him."
"Oh? Why not?" Thorin asked and turned to you.
"Why? Well for one he is the most arrogant self righteous man I have ever met. He thinks he's the gods gift to man and that everyone he interacts with owes him something. The only reason I even agreed to this arrangement with him is because if I don't my family will lose everything. I much rather marry-- someone else."
After your rant Thorin was feeling significantly lighter. He caught your stutter at the end and the side of his mouth corked up. "Y/n, what was it Kili wanted you to tell me?"
You turned to look at him, eyes wide, but were comforted by the smile on his face. "Well," you said looking up and away to avoid eye contact and clasping your hands in front of you. "Kili wants me to tell you that I'm in love with you. And I am, in love with you I mean."
Thorin chuckled and you peaked back at him, he had a soft smile on his face. "Maybe you're not as unlucky as you thought armâlimê.”
You opened your mouth like you were going to say something, but then what he said seemed to register. You paused and then looked over at him, “what did you just call me?”
He smiled at you softly and took your hand and looked down at it as he spoke, “we can figure out what to do about your family’s situation after the quest, I trust it won’t be to hard to find a solution then.”
Silently your hand tightened around his, touched by what he had said. “And just for the record,” he added looking up into your eyes, “I love you too.”
From a little ways away, over by the fire, you could hear whispered cheers and groans, and the clink of coins being exchanged. You looked over and Kili grinned back, shooting you a thumbs up and you couldn’t help but laugh feelings as light as air and happier than you ever have before.

Bunny - K.DY
Tumblr media
Pairing: Kim Doyoung x fem!reader
Word count: 3125 words
AU/Genre: college!AU, roommate!AU, smut
Warnings: unneccessary astrology anecdotes, mentioned masturbation (f), porn, pet names (pretty girl, bunny), fingering, choking (f receiving), vibrator, yeah it's pretty vanilla for a yutasbellybuttonpiercing fic
A/n: this is just 3k words of me thristing over Doyoung's chest. Honestly, try to count how many times I mentioned it...
It's the seventh stressful week in a row and all you need is some release for the tension in your shoulders, your brain and your lower regions. Exams had been rough on you, seemingly thousands of assignments having such an iron grip on your every move that you couldn't even squeeze in a little wank – a little masturbation session – without missing at least one appointment or assignment, or skipping yet another meal.
You're horny, like, really horny, and it's not just your lack of orgasm that's giving you a hard time, it's first and foremost your new roommate. Kim Doyoung. There's no reason for him to be this good looking, literally no reason at all. His extraordinarily alluring exterior costs you much more than your last nerve. Too often, he steps through your shared living room (read: a small couch in the entrance area of your home), thinking that wearing only one (1) piece of clothing around the house is acceptable, making you completely lose your focus of the task at hand. Be it doing the dishes, checking your phone for mail, or worse, writing your thesis, you instead ogle his greatly defined pecs. Doyoung looks like the visual combination of an angel, a hot businessman and a young dilf. And his voice... you get the drift.
Currently, you're seated at your desk, fingers smashing into your mouse buttons and keyboard with such force that you're confused as to why the keys of the keyboard are not flying back at you and hitting you in the head because you punched them off the smooth plastic surface. With shaky hands, you drag the cursor over the screen and click 'upload' to turn in your last paper at the last possible second. A green slogan congratulates you that you've made it just in time.
With the most drawn out, dramatic sigh you get up, take about two steps back and fall down on your bed (reason for that are the immensely high rental prices in the area, forcing you to live in this cramped space that you call bedroom slash bureau slash dining room).
You're so exhausted that all u want is to sleep forever. It's like your brain immediately wipes out all of the information you've absorbed for your countless essays immediately, only to leave space for absolute nothingness that makes you relax into the mattress and fall into dream land.
A knock on your door wakes you about 5 minutes later.
You answer with a sleepy "huh?" and, of course, Doyoung's the one to open the door.
"I'll be out, might get late, don't wait for me with dinner, okay?"
As always, he looks stunning with his wide eyes that blink at you twice (probably just a little concerned with how you're lying halfway slipped off the bed), and he's so pretty and beautiful that you just want to paint him, but you don't because that'd be weird. And he has to leave, so you just throw him a weak thumbs up and he smiles before closing the door.
You don't even have time to decipher where he's heading. If he's going to the gym again, working out those incredibly voluminous pecs, his toned stomach or his wide shoulders, or going out to get some drinks at a bar, the alcohol causing his eyes to become a little glossy, cheeks tinted in the most perfect shade of dusted pink, just like that one time you guys had a wine night (read: three bottles of very cheap wine and one bottle of medium priced wine Doyoung stole from his parents the last time he visited scattered over the floor in front of your couch as you slurped the bordeaux red liquid from tea cups because you ran out of regular ones) a few weeks ago?
The way his eyes had gotten all lidded, gaze fanning over your face as he licked his wine-stained lips, his chest lifting oh so gently with every breath he dragged in- he had looked fucked out, honestly, and this made you wonder how absolutely gorgeous he would look underneath you with his thick cock deep inside you.
Great, now you're horny. Again. Actually, scratch that, you're constantly horny. At this point it's so bad that you speculate it might just be in your genes or something. Or maybe your eighth house is somehow connected with your ascendant, maybe you're a scorpio mars...
It's then when you suddenly realize: you are, in fact, alone. And you have free time, so there is literally nothing that could disturb you right now.
You get your iPad and open a porn site of your preference, briefly cringing at the suggestions displayed before typing something into the search bar that you would be absolutely terrified of someone finding out, then just get into it. You watch a few videos, look around a bit until you find something that satisfies your porn hunger.
Without taking your eyes off the screen, you reach out to your bedside table. Opening the second drawer, you pull out your vibrator. You're surprised that it still works and hasn't unalived itself because it hasn't been used in such a long period of time. You turn it off again, putting it next to you before pulling off your pants and panties, crawling under the blanket and letting your fingers brush over your folds.
Holy hell, it's been a while, is the first thing you think, dipping your fingertips into the wetness pooling at your entrance. It's almost embarrassing how fast you got wet, but so be it, it's not like someone supervises the quickness of your arousal anyway.
Or is there? – because the next thing you hear is another knock on your door. You freeze, aggressively turning down the volume of the porn, before asking who the fuck is knocking on your door.
"It's me again, plans've been canceled. It's raining." Doyoung steps foot into your room, eyeing your position under the blanket, iPad in your lap whilst you just look at him with a shocked expression.
The only thing your mind can form right now is '????'.
"Oh great, what are we watching?" Doyoung invites himself into your room, stepping over to your still half-naked (!) figure under the blanket. You turn off your iPad, turning in around and pressing it against your chest. The least you can hope is that he can't hear your thumping heartbeat through your chest.
"Nothing. I've never watched a single thing in my life. Especially not now."
"You want me to believe that? Come on, show me. I'm bored, let's watch it together." Doyoung snorts, getting onto the bed with you, pushing you aside so he can sit properly.
"Really, Doyoung, honey, you don't want that..."
"Why? Is it a drama?"
"No."
"Romance?"
"Not quite..."
Doyoung looks at you, eyes narrowed because he still can't come up with a single thing you two couldn't watch together.
"Horror?" He tries one last time.
You shake your head slowly.
"So you just don't want to watch it with me?" He assumes, putting the puzzle pieces together, but just completely upside down, just plainly wrong.
"The thing I was watching just now, I wouldn't watch it with anyone."
"Not even your mom?"
"Especially not my mom!"
He furrows his brows. You can almost see the little gears turning inside his head as he tries to figure it out. Sighing, you decide to put this poor man out of his misery.
"I was watching porn, Doyoung."
He looks at you, eyebrows raised so far, if they went a little further, they'd melt in with his hairline. Then he blinks, once, twice, opening his mouth a few times, but then closing it again without saying something.
"P-porn?!" finally comes out.
"Yeah."
"Why?" He looks so concerned that you just want to pet his head.
"Doyoung," your hand comes up to massage and rub over your forehead as you let your head slump forwards, sighing. You can't believe you have to explain this, "why do people watch porn? Hm?"
Finally, Doyoung connects the dots, realizing he's overstepped multiple lines just now, shimmying away from you, "ahh, I'm sorry. I'll just-" he thinks for a second, "porn, though, for real?"
"What's wrong with porn?"
"N-nothing, I mean, but-" He seems to be at conflict with himself, "now that I know that you watch this- isn't it uncomfortable for you??"
You shake your head, then sigh deeply as his worried facial expression hasn't faded in the slightest, "I don't care that you know I'm watching it."
"If it helps, I watch it too!"
"Thank you, Doyoung." You give him a tight-lipped smile as you pad his shoulder, nodding softly with closed eyes. "Now, would you-"
A vague gesture in the direction of the door should give Doyoung an idea of what you're implying, though he doesn't budge. You sigh again. Many lines have been crossed today, so why not make things clear.
"Doyoung, love, I'm stark naked underneath these sheets."
Doyoung's eyes flicker downwards, then back to your own, then he nods, "that's kinda hot."
Now it's your turn to blink at him, your usual self that never stops talking suddenly at a loss of words. Doyoung's gaze lays upon your hidden private parts a second time, this time much longer, assumingely fantasizing about what's underneath your cute floral-printed bedsheets. It makes you return the action, immediately locking eyes with something that looks suspiciously like a forming bulge –that or Doyoung's suddenly carrying palm-sized baseball-bats in his pants, and you highly doubt that.
Very little words are spoken until you find yourself caged in between Doyoung and your mattress, both of your shirts pulled off to have flown onto the ground somewhere, his breath fanning millimeters away from your lips as you don't dare to break eye contact. Your blanket is bunched up against the wall next to you, still hiding your vibrator from Doyoung's fiery eyes, and his fingers are dancing around your naked thighs.
You breath comes out shakily as Doyoung begins touching you, fingers parting your folds to run in between them, feeling you up and down and left and right, teasing you throughoutly before he pushes one of his digits inside. Your hands find hold on his biceps as your lids flutter shut, back arching right into his touch, a quiet sound of pleasure leaving your mouth.
Above you, you can practically feel Doyoung smile as he drags his long finger along your walls, stroking you gently before adding another, stretching you out slowly for what's to come. Your head wants to wrap around what's happening right now, but you're honestly too exhausted, too horny, and too touch deprived to voice any concerns or exorbitant excitement in your head, so you just enjoy it while it lasts.
"Wan' your cock, please", you hear yourself gasp as Doyoung angles a thrust of his fingers into your sweet spot, and keeps them there, massaging into the bundle of nerves.
"Yeah, does my little bunny want to get fucked?" Doyoung grins as you open your eyes to look at him and nod, and you're honestly surprised how well you're responding to the pet name.
Doyoung stretches you a little more before pulling his fingers out and his pants off. A single glance downwards and you have to gulp. Forget palm-sized. He begins stroking himself a little and you use the distraction to pull a condom from your bedside table, quickly opening the package with your teeth before handing it to him.
He rolls it down his thick length, your mouth starts salivating at the image of trying to fit your mouth around it when you suddenly feel him prodding against your hole, gently brushing his tip over your folds and clit, much like he's done before with his fingers.
Just before you can voice your impatience, he inches inside, slowly dragging his tip along your walls to fill you completely. A cry of pleasure that you'd be embarrassed about in any other situation slips from your mouth at the delicious stretch, a groan of Doyoung's follows suit as soon as he's bottomed out inside of you.
To your request, he begins moving, drawing his hips back slowly before pushing in with a snap, seemingly hitting every sweet spot of your body at once. You force your eyes to open again – though you don't even remember closing them – and take in Doyoung above you.
The way his pecs flex is incredibly arousing to you, and you reach out to stroke your palms over them, really feeling the way the muscle bulges under his soft, pale skin, then further down his stomach, your fingers sliding over the grooves of his abs, then to his sides to hold onto his small waist.
Doyoung hums out, approving of your actions, and you move your hands to his back, then up to his wide shoulders. There's just something about the way you've been thirsting about this man's body for, what, months now, and now you're finally having him, you can't miss out on the full experience of finally being able to touch his delicate form.
The speed and force of Doyoung's thrusts intensifies with every stroke, you feel so perfectly full with him inside of you. "I've wanted you for so long, Doie," you admit, head hazy with the way he fucks into you, a hand on your waist to hold you against him, "feels so good."
"You look so fucking pretty like this, bunny, even better than I imagined," Doyoung hisses, eyes rolling back as you clench around him, an orgasm creeping up on you way faster than you expected.
Your eyes fall onto where Doyoung holds onto your hips with his hands, the way his thumbs poke into the soft flesh of your midsection, his veins popping out due to the harsh grip he has on your body. All the times where you've appreciated his large hands coming back clashing down at your already weakened form, mind hazy as you speak your next words.
"Choke me, please," you whimper, hips bucking further into his motions.
"Ah, that's right, you like my hands so much. I've seen you stare at them so often, I can't even think of all the things you must've imagined them doing to you," Doyoung says, a chuckle in his voice that you don't even notice. Your eyes follow his right hand as it detaches itself from your waist to come up to your neck. Impatiently, you whine, his fingers softly graze over your skin before they wrap around your neck, not putting on any pressure yet.
You whimper, teeth catching your lower lip as you look into his eyes, a pleading look on your face, and he finally has mercy on you. A grin spreads over his handsome features as he presses down on your pulse point, slowly but surely pushing you into the mattress by your neck with his whole weight.
"Shit-", you bring out, eyelids fluttering as you struggle to keep them opened, walls clenching around Doyoung's length as he pushes into you harder and faster than before. The way your breath hitches in your throat seems to have an effect on him too.
"Don't you want me to use your toy on you?" The question catches you off guard, the lack of blood flowing onto your brain making you feel all tight and hot, not able to comprehend the situation. Doyoung chuckles again, "you don't think I didn't notice, right?"
As a response, you can only whine out brokenly, nodding your head as much as you can. Not soon after, you feel the pleasant vibrating sensation against your clit, making you press your hips even further against Doyoung and the toy. Doyoung seems to love your reaction, grinning above you almost crazily as his tongue flicks over his lower lip, "that's right, bunny, keep your eyes open. Look at me."
You do your best to comply to his request, the lack of oxygen catching up on you as you feel your ears ring gently and pleasantly, though all you can concentrate on is the way you seems to get tighter around Doyoung's cock, almost being able to taste your release on the tip of your tongue, and Doyoung's own crazy, lust-filled eyes.
"You're clenching so much around me, bunny," Doyoung groans above you, "I want you to cum for me, bunny."
And as he leans down, eyes not leaving yours, and presses his lips onto yours, it's over for you. All the stress and built-up from the past weeks crashing down on you within milliseconds, drowning you in the delicious depth of a long-awaited orgasm. Doyoung loosens his grip on your throat just in time, the blood rushing into your brain intensifying the feeling.
"Yeah, that's it," Doyoung moans, hips stuttering as he fucks you through your intense high. You feel like you could pass out from the impact, and you're glad that Doyoung pulls out as soon as you've stopped clenching around him, quickly discarding of the condom to stroke himself to finish on your stomach with a high-pitched whine.
"Holy shit," you confirm as soon as you're breathing's calmed down, turning your head to look at your roommate who's plopped down on the mattress next to you, equally as exhausted as you. He laughs at your expression, and a smile takes over you as well.
"Tissue?"
"Do you need to blow your nose?"
"No! I want to wipe my cum off you!"
"Oh," you grin, turning to hand him what he'd asked for, giving it to him so he can clean you up. The grinning doesn't stop even after he's done, and he turns on his side so you're facing each other.
"What," he asks, smiling himself. You take a few seconds to take in his tousled hair, blushed skin and lidded eyes, feeling giddy inside at the sight of his post-orgasm glow.
"I gotta be honest with you, Doyoung," you start, turning onto your back before sitting up, stretching your arms over your head, "that was the shit. I'm going to feel the need to do this again. Would you be okay with that?" You turn your head towards him and find him smiling at you, his perfect white teeth doing something to your heartbeat that you don't want to elaborate on right now.
"Yes," he grins before pulling you onto his lap, bringing your face to hover just mere centimeters above his own, "how about right now? Hobble on my cock, bunny."
You scoff, but are not able to hold back a grin, "I'm sorry, Doie, that's only hot when you're inside me."

(Ahhh thank you so much!!! ;; U ;; )
No one had ever seen Claude in a state of pure angst.
They had seen him upset, when the professor had been lost. They’d seen him angry, afraid, and worried throughout the war even when he hid it. They saw him in grief, saw him mourn… but it was nothing like this.
They had never seen a man struggling to cope with his pregnant wife’s disappearance.
It happened in the dead of night. You went to the chapel, unable to sleep. Claude woke with the intent to follow, but was a bit tired to follow. That was his fatal mistake; He didn’t go right away. Maybe if he had, he would have been with you; not in the hall when the chapel was desecrated. Where he could only listen to your screams through the door.
The stained glass shattered so violently he heard it meters away. He was sprinting in a split second, crashing against the doors. Locked.
The doors were locked.
He heard voices, he heard you struggling against them. He was throwing himself against the door, his bow nowhere close by. He was a fool.
“BYLETH!!”
The noise he was making, coupled with whatever violence was happening within the chapel, soon drew the attention of the guards. Seteth was in a frenzy, breaking down the doors before they made it inside. By then, it was far too late.
You were gone.
Claude fell to his knees, shaken by what he was looking at. An empty chapel, torn asunder and covered in broken glass and marble. What had happened? Who hurt you? Where in the hells did you go?
There would be no more sleep. Not for several days.
Claude was in unspeakable distress, taking every shred of evidence they could pick up, trying to find your captors. Find where they’d taken you. Seventeen nights in a row, he had ridden the skies on his wyvern, searching for some sort of hideaway that they could have locked you up in.
You were only three months pregnant… not enough for anyone to know what you were. Not enough for anyone to be told, save for Claude and maybe Marianne or Lysithea.
Seteth had suspected as much, and when Claude told him one raw, horrible night after your kidnapping… Seteth found little rest, himself.
The Archbishop was missing. The king’s family was on the line.
It was no wonder Claude was on the brink of madness.
He couldn’t imagine how horrible you must have been feeling. To be abandoned and alone, with no hope or assurance that you would be safe… to be pregnant and wondering if your child would survive with you…
Gods, gods, gods–
“Claude?”
He was barely able to pull his head up from the ashes of his anxiety.
“Lysith… Lysithea.” He croaked, releasing his hair that he had been clutching painfully tight. “Did you find something?”
“No, no- I heard your voice. You were… whimpering.”
His eyes widened for a fraction of a second, but they quickly narrowed as he looked away. He scoffed, “Was I really being that loud?”
“No. But it was enough I thought you were cursed or hexed or… something.”
“Sorry. You shouldn’t have heard that, or… seen me like that.”
“Claude, your wife was taken in the middle of the night. You have every right to be like that.”
“She was taken weeks ago.”
“And we’ve been searching for weeks.” She reminded him coolly, stepping into his office and shutting the door behind her. “We’re certain to have a lock on her in the coming days. Seteth’s been running the scouts ragged, and those wyverns have an excellent sense of smell. They’ll hone in on her scent and we’ll recover her in no time.”
“Hey, Ly? Did you ever think that… if wyverns are so good at tracking… there’s a reason we haven’t found Byleth by now?”
“You can’t think like that-”
“What am I supposed to think?” Claude rose from his seat, nearly knocking the chair over. “She’s out there, alone and scared… she’s pregnant, and we don’t even know if we’ll get to see the kid, o-or if either of them will make it out alive, or if they’re even anywhere we can find them, or-”
“Claude,” She hurried forward, seeing the tears spilling down his cheeks before he realized it was happening. “Claude… oh, Claude.”
“I-” He hiccupped, spitting a curse as he crumbled. “I’m sorry. I can’t be- Byleth doesn’t need this. She needs me to work, to help her-”
“Claude, you’re scared. You’re worried and afraid, and you’re allowed to feel those things. You’re allowed to cry. You can’t hold all of this in.”
“No, I have to.” He shook his head, piecing together what little resolve he had left. “I Have to I’ll cry when she’s back home. I can’t waste time being all emotional when she probably doesn’t even have that luxury, or…”
“Please.” She whispered, drawing him into her arms. For a moment, he didn’t move. He imagined if it had been your warmth enveloping him. Maybe he wouldn’t have felt so terribly broken.
It was when he wondered if he’d ever get to hold you again that the dam broke.
Lysithea wouldn’t forget the feeling of a friend shattered in her arms, of comforting a frightened king.a man who loved his wife beyond all comprehension.
A man who loved a woman so much he couldn’t bear the thought of losing you.
It was that thought, the realization that he absolutely needed to stay beside you, that pulled him from his misery.  It was the only thing that pushed him hard enough to keep it together, as long as he could.
He leaned on Hilda and Lysithea for support then, as everyone continued their tireless push to pinpoint your location.
But it would be weeks still before they finally did.
Claude was never one to abandon hope. He didn’t admit to his feelings of fear or loss, even when the thirtieth day passed.
It was the thirty-second day that Hilda barged into the war room, breathlessly announcing that they did it.
They had a lead.
One of the wyvern riders had been able to track a trail that had been left by the scent of blood. A small stain of it that had been found in the chapel all those weeks before.
The rider followed it fining the scent stopped in the mountains several days’ flight from the monastery. But it was there.
Without a doubt, the rider informed them personally as Claude rasped his shoulders, there were people there, hiding out in a secret long lost castle.
One that was small, easily concealed in the bitter cold, and flanked by a number of wyverns that didn’t belong to any ally.
Claude nearly rallied the troops for war then and there. They found you.
King Dimitri of Faerghus naturally allied immediately, ready to help Claude raze whatever villainous strongholds they still had. Anything to bring you back home.
His wyvern flew with a strange new strength, sending him careening through the sky at a velocity the naked eye barely registered. His forces moved quickly behind him, and Claude’s bow was at the ready, taking aim as they neared your location.
The snow made it difficult to see, but that didn’t slow him down. His eyes were like that of a hawk’s, zeroing in on the thought-to-be abandoned castle after days of traveling the skies.
The plan was simple. Hilda and Raphael would be tasked with securing the exits, while Ignatz identified any possible secret entrances or trapdoors they might attempt to escape from (and potentially take you with them).
Claude, considering he was a hard target to miss (and at this point in time, not one for stealth in favor of decimating those who would take his wife), would lead the front lines.
He had the decency to wait until the more covert operators were in position before he unleashed a rain of arrows with his accompanying wyvern riders.
Seteth dropped first after the volley, cutting through waves of soldiers with Flayn secured behind him once you were found and ready for medical treatment.
Claude was counting on Flayn most of all, at this point; though Seteth’s blind rage certainly helped.
He circled the skies a few minutes longer, helping to eliminate snipers and magicians so they could safely land.
His wyvern’s claws barely touched the castle’s floor before he leapt from its back, making a break for the entrance and drawing his sword.
They didn’t stand a chance.
The Ones Who Slither that had the audacity to capture the queen, his queen, had never seen anything like it.
A man whose wife and child were on the line was little more than a demon in the throes of blood-wrath.
Claude simply wasn’t having it.
The main floor was cleared of the dastards, and shortly after, Hilda and Raphael emerged from the basement. You weren’t being held underground. Most likely, you were in one of the towers.
“Everyone, split up! Take every tower, every upper level- move in groups of three, and make sure you have a healer with you! If you find her light a black flare and send for me immediately!! I’ll do the same. Now, move!!”
Claude took Seteth and Flayn with him, the three practically barreling through the castle and breaking down every door they could find.
They wound their way up the southwestern tower, but to their dismay, every corridor attached to its steps was empty.
Claude had taken to smashing down the doors just to blow off some anxiety-packed steam.
A red flare was launched from the northwest. You weren’t on that end. Claude broke into another room, his voice thick as he called for you.
Another red flare from the northeast. Claude swallowed a curse, leading Seteth and Flayn down another hallway. A trail of shattered splinters were left behind them, their options thinning.
Seteth caught the flare behind them, to the southeast tower. This was it.
You had to be here.
Claude bit back a frustrated growl when the penultimate door revealed yet another empty room.
Nothing but snow and ice filled the place, the biting cold seeping into his blood and filling him with dread.
He rushed for the final door, drawing the sword over his shoulder. This was it.
What if you weren’t there?
Had they already taken you?
Did they spot the army before they could attack, and gotten you out? Was that battle just a diversion?
Did he really lose you again?
“DAMN YOU!!” He roared at no one in particular; his fears, perhaps. The sword came down on the old wood like a crack of thunder, decimating it with no mercy.
He crossed the threshold, panting like a rabid animal. He searched the room with wild eyes, the sword gripped so tightly his hand bled.
“Byleth… dammit, Byleth-!!”
“…Claude?”
His breath hitched.
Claude started, following the quiet call of his name. He knew that voice. He knew that shock of light hair, the wide, tired eyes that stared at him from the dark corner of the room.
There, huddled in a musty old blanket and shivering terribly…
The sword clattered to the floor.
“Oh, my gods.”
It was you.
“Lady Byleth!” Seteth exclaimed, but Claude was ten steps ahead.
Rather, he was sprinting, crossing the room and kneeling down in front of you, grasping your shoulders painfully tight.
“Byleth- Byleth, is it… is it really you?”
“C-Claude…” You whispered his name, again. He felt you under his fingers, your body colder than it should have been. He breathed out a broken laugh, his eyes filling with tears that blurred his vision just as they did with your own. “I-I-I thought… I t-thought it was o-over…”
“Goddess, no. No, no, no.” He shook his head and gulped down his emotions, long enough to cup your face and try to wipe away your own tears. “There’s no way in all Hells I was gonna let you go. I didn’t let myself think for a second that I could truly lose you.”
He heard Seteth say something behind him, and Flayn’s tittering laughter, but… it was little more than noise in the background.
Claude’s hands fell from your face to your arms, drawing you into his chest and engulfing you in a crushing embrace.
You buried your face in his neck, soaking up as much heat as you could from your dearest husband.
“I-I… can’t believe you found me.” You whimpered, letting him draw you into his lap as he fell back against the wall. He didn’t respond at first, instead peeling the dirty blanket from your body.
Your robes were in tatters, dried blood staining the pristine white where the dirt and grime didn’t.
Claude wanted to be mad, but what more could he do? The foes were vanquished. You were safe.
Your baby was safe.
His hand fell to your stomach, just below it, where the baby had started to grow. In nearly a month you had started to show just a little, enough that someone who hadn’t been aware could suspect you were with child.
In nearly a month, he had missed the start of his child’s life.
You watched as his expression crumbled into something unreadable, a mixture of grief and regret and sorrow that morphed into a numb pain you couldn’t even hope to understand.
All you knew was that Claude needed to hold you as badly as you did him.
You reached up, passing a hand through his hair and drawing him back into reality. He shook his head again and gave you a strained smile, before getting to work.
He carefully turned to Seteth, gesturing to Flayn so that she might come and get to work on any wounds she could heal.
While Flayn tearfully took care of you (and Seteth melodramatically explained how worried he had been), Claude unclasped his cloak and wrapped you up in it, enveloping you in the heat you craved.
Shortly after Seteth launched the red flare, Claude took you up, bringing you away from the nightmarish castle.
Once you were reunited with everyone (in the safety of Claude’s arms, of course), it didn’t take long for soldiers to start offering scarves and gloves, contributing all that they could to help the Archbishop recover.
They didn’t know if you trembled from fear or from the cold, but Claude was the most determined to put a stop to it.
He held you tightly the entire ride back to the monastery, even after the weather became kinder and the need for woolen bundling melted away.
Mercedes was quick to tend to you on the ground, informing him that just to be safe, you needed to stay bundled until your body temperature was back to normal.
“Say no more,” He said with mirth in his eyes, sweeping you up and taking you back to your bedroom.
Naturally, the doors were latched shut and the windows practically barred (and plenty of soldiers stationed everywhere nearby), but as far as you were concerned, it was a private haven.
Claude settled you onto the bed, pressing a kiss to your forehead before drawing a bath and starting up a fire.
He took you into the water and washed you, scrubbing you tenderly from head to toe to rinse away the nightmare you suffered.
Hot soup would be enjoyed by both of you (Claude did, however, insist on feeding you), his arm around your shoulders as you sat before the flames, that night.
“I’ll take care of you.” He murmured between promises to keep you safe, “I won’t let you out of my sight ever again. And I’ll say the very same for the little one, too. I got lucky, once. I’m not risking losing either of you after that.”
“I don’t doubt it for a second.” You replied quietly, eliciting a kiss from your husband. Gently he returned you to bed, the both of you exhausted beyond reason.
He found the strength to tuck you in, and crossed to his side of the bed before slipping into the blankets and promptly taking you into his arms once more.
You didn’t say anything about his quiet desperation, how he clung to you tighter than you could have held him, even if you wanted to.
He was thankful beyond words to have you back home, and you knew that just by feeling him around you. He wasn’t going to let you go, anytime soon.
And you weren’t going to let him.

this is a completely sad one, don’t hate me :))
dusan vlahovic x reader
Tumblr media
See you later
You and Dusan knew each other since you were kids. Not only he was your classmate during elementary and middle school but he was also your best friend, your comfort person, your safe place and your boyfriend. A lot of people said you were too young to know what love was but you knew exactly what love was when you met him. You found peace with him, it didn’t matter if you were only seven when you met him and it didn’t matter when he asked you to be his girlfriend when you were thirteen. You knew he was the man you wanted to spend the rest of your life with. Unfortunately things change. You always supported his dream to be a football player and you never missed one of his games when he was a kid, you were always front row cheering for him. But when he told you he was moving to Italy to play in Florence you saw something change in him. He was more focused on his career that your relationship and you couldn’t really blame him, you knew how much effort he put in his career but you weren’t ready for what was to come.
You still remember his words.
“I’m so sorry y/n…I don’t think I can keep up with a long distance relationship…it’s better for us if we break up” that’s what he said to you. You felt your heart go in millions of pieces. You know you couldn’t go with him but you didn’t expect the situation to go so down.
You were only sixteen, too young to be in love, so why did you feel completely empty the moment he left?
You remember going into a spiral of sadness and emptiness, where your days consisted of waking up, going to school, eat if you remembered, doing homework, going to sleep and doing all of that again. That became your loop. Dusan didn’t even try to contact you once he was in Italy. You thought he didn’t care but reality was he couldn’t forgive himself for hurting you, for breaking your heart, thinking you deserved more than that. He hated himself, your face still present in his head when he broke up with you, your eyes filled with sadness and anger, hate, knowing that you would never want to see him again.
It took a lot for you to forgive him. You wanted to hate him, to be mad at him but more than you tried the less you could bring yourself to hate him. You had nothing but love for him.
You always watched his games and it didn’t matter if you were in a different country, you always found a way to watch them. Some things changed when he moved to Turin to play for Juventus. You were already twenty and there was only one thing in your mind : go to Turin and watch a Juventus match.
And so you did. You packed your things and bought a ticket for the new upcoming match. You were lucky you worked for a while so you were able to save yourself some money.
Of course when you got in Turin the first thing you did was buying Vlahovic signature Juventus t-shirt. You were so proud of him for making in it so far.
You were currently sat down watching the lights of the stadium turning black to present all the players and you shouted so loud when the speaker announced Dusan that you feared someone might me annoyed by you. You knew he wouldn’t be able to see you but you still wanted him to feel your presence.
Only ten minutes on the game and Juventus was already winning, and of course Dusan scored the first goal. He celebrated right under the seats where you were seated and it took him only two seconds to see your face in the crowd. He froze. Definitely not expecting to see you there. He was speechless.
His teammates shook him out of his trance and they continued playing. The game ended and juventus won 4-0. Dusan scored twice and you couldn’t help but let a few tears of joy fall.
You were slowly getting out of the stadium when you saw a security guard coming towards you, signing you that you had to follow him. You already knew that Dusan did all of that.
The guard took you into a small room and told you to wait there.
A few seconds later Dusan came into the room with a face you would never forget.
“Y/n…” he whispered. He maintained his distances with you, not knowing if you wanted him closer or not.
“Hey Duci” you called him by his nickname and he melted right away, missing the comfort of your voice.
“What-what are you doing here?” he asked, a bit shocked to see you.
“I wanted to see the match” you simply said and he nodded.
“I didn’t know you were a Juventus fan” he teased you and you smiled.
“I’m your fan. I follow every team you play for” you confessed and he was shocked.
“Wow…” he simply said.
You two spent a few minutes in complete silence.
“Listen y/n…if you’re here to say that you hate me don’t even try to say it, I hate me too, for everything I did to you, for the way I treated you, for the way we broke up…I have no excuses but I’m so sorry it took me all of these years so say it…I still love you and I never stopped loving you. Not for a second. You still mean too much for me…I’m so sorry for letting you go, I don’t deserve you” Dusan said, fighting back his tears because he had no intention of crying in front of you.
“Hey…shhh Duci, it’s okay…I promise you I don’t hate you, I can’t hate you, you mean so much to me you have no idea, I love you and I will always love you…I just needed to see you one last time” you said holding his hands.
“What you mean one last time?” he asked you.
“I’m moving to New York…I was accepted into the photography school I applied one year ago. They accepted me last week so I wanted to see you one more time before moving to the other side of the world…” you confessed him.
“But that won’t be the last time I’m seeing you, right? You’ll still come back home? To see mama? Your family?” he asked you hoping you would say yes.
“I will come back home but it will probably be once or twice a year, not much more…I just…I wanted to say goodbye Duci…I missed you and the last time I saw you I was so mad I didn’t even want to talk to you…this time I wanna do it right” you let a few tears fall but Dusan was quick to dry them away. How you missed his touch on your skin. You leaned into his hand, finding the comfort you once missed. He took a few steps closer and gently grabbed your neck and pulled you into him. Your lips barely touching in what was a very soft kiss. You missed feeling him on you. You missed him. Dusan couldn’t hold it back and kissed you with more passion, a very needy kiss, more like a sorry for hurting you so much and leaving you alone all of these years.
You knew you had to step back, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to leave him.
“Duci…” you whispered, his hands on your waist while his head was on the crook of your neck.
“Don’t go please…please stay here” he knew it was selfish asking you to stay with him, not when he left you for following his dreams. Now you were leaving home to follow yours, but he couldn’t help feeling that something could have been different.
“Don’t think this as a goodbye…more like a see you later” you said cracking a smile even if you were hiding all the pain.
“I should have never let you go…that was my biggest mistake, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life” he said and you smiled.
“You won’t…” you whispered “I have to go now…but it was nice seeing you again” you said and he nodded, kissing your hands and showing you the way out.
Once you were out of the stadium you let yourself go, crying and hoping no one could see you.
But you thought about your words. One day, sooner or later you would see him again.

Febuwhump day 11 - fever
Starting febuwhump in the middle of the month with my Links from my own au Courage of Ages, because I looked at the list and basically gave into temptation 😅
I’m going to try and keep these short so i don’t get stressed, just fun oneshots and an excuse to write my Links more :)
Here’s an explanation of courage of ages, as well as who’s who, but in this fic only four of them show up. Gloam is tp Link, Hue is albw & tfh, Era is hw, and Sprite is oot & mm.
————————————————————
“Gloam?”
The Hero of Twilight blinked his eyes open, looking up at who’d addressed him. Hue stood next to the tree that he’d been dozing against up until a few seconds ago, looking like he felt extremely bad for disturbing him.
“Hey Hue, what’s up? You need something?” he yawned, and the younger hero shifted his weight nervously, and scratched the back of his neck.
“Era isn’t awake.”
Gloam tilted his head. “And..? Is that a problem? I mean, we weren’t going to head out until tomorrow morning anyways, he may as well take a nap.”
“No, I mean he hasn’t woken up all day,” Hue stressed. “I was going to tell you earlier but I couldn’t find you or anybody else, so I figured I’d just wait, but now...”
Hue glanced behind him at the inn in the distance where they were all staying.
“He’s barely moved. He was making weird noises before too, I’m... I’m kinda worried Gloam.”
The goatherd furrowed his brow and stood up, forgoing his comfortable spot against the tree to instead follow Hue back inside to where Era had apparently been sleeping all day.
If it were almost any one of the others Gloam would brush it off as them just taking a nap, but Era was one of the Links in their group who barely slept under normal circumstances.
Maybe he was just really tired?
They entered one of the rooms several of them were sharing, Gloam noting the lump on one of the beds. Drawing closer with Hue on his heels, Gloam saw Era tightly curled up under the sheets, already odd since he tended to sleep ramrod-straight on his back. His blanket was tight around his shoulders, breath wheezing in his throat, and when Gloam leaned closer he could see his face was flushed.
Wait...
Gloam leaned down and pressed a hand to Era’s forehead, then winced at the heat under his palm.
“Darn it, he’s got a fever,” he muttered, and at his touch, Era’s eyes flicked open.
He looked exhausted, dark circles under his eyes and hair limp with sweat. He was always so put together, Gloam had to admit it was weird seeing him this... disheveled.
“We moving again?” the knight rasped, and made to sit up, arms trembling. Hue pushed him back down, and shook his head.
“No way, you’re sick Era. We’re not moving anytime soon.”
Era’s face paled.
“Sick? No. No way, I’m not sick I can’t be sick—” he said thickly, panic leeching into his voice.
“Era calm down, you’ve just got a bit of a fever,” Gloam soothed, trying to keep the worry out of his voice. “You only need some rest, you’ll be fine.”
Era swallowed, and Gloam could see him mentally push the panic down.
“But... we need to get going tomorrow,” he protested with a cough. “This was only supposed to be a quick stop, and then—”
“We can spare a day or two,” Gloam interrupted. “We switched pretty recently, I doubt we’ll leave this time for a little while yet. And you can’t go anywhere in this condition.“
Era looked like he was about to argue, but instead sneezed several times in a row, each one getting progressively louder.
Hue muffled a giggle at the surprisingly high-pitched sneezes, then shrank back at the look Era gave him.
“Umm, I’ll go get some soup I saved from the other night,” he said, then quickly escaped out the door. Gloam watched him go with an amused smile, then pulled a chair to Era’s bedside, sitting down as he looked down at the other hero.
The knight’s eyes were half-lidded and weary, but he made an effort to look more awake once he realized Gloam’s gaze was on him.
“I really am all right,” he rasped, and Gloam shook his head, sighing.
“No, you really aren’t,” he countered. “Hue said you’ve been sleeping all day.”
“So?”
Gloam eyeballed him. “You are always up at the crack of dawn, same as me. The only reason I didn’t notice you sleeping in earlier was because I was preoccupied,” he said a bit guiltily, then resumed his stern look. “You. Are. Sick.”
Era shrank in his blanket, looking away from Gloam.
“But I’m holding us up,” he rasped quietly. “We were going to try to make it to the castle, we might not have time if we w-wait—”
Era broke off into a stream of thick coughs, raspy and painful sounding. He groaned when he finished, and Gloam handed him some water, the knight weakly sipping at it. Once he’d finished, Gloam put his hand back on his forehead, trying to get a sense of just how bad his fever was. Era flinched, but relaxed after a minute, eyes drooping.
“I think your fever could be worse, but I don’t know how long you’ve had it either,” Gloam murmured, then pulled his hand away with a sigh. “Either way... it’s certainly not the greatest. We can see if this town has a healer, but in the meantime try and get more sleep?”
“Slept all morning,” Era mumbled. “Don’t need more.”
“You’re practically dozing off Era,” Gloam said dryly. “Just go back to sleep. Or I’ll get everyone in here and they can yell at you too.”
Era winced. “...don’t do that.”
The door creaked as he finished speaking, and Gloam turned, expecting to see Hue. But Sprite walked in instead, looking a little out of breath, like he’d run all the way here then stopped right at the door in an effort to seem nonchalant.
“Hue said you’re sick,” he blurted out, then crossed his arms and gave Era a foul look. “How on earth did you manage that?”
“You think I know?” Era croaked, and Gloam watched the worry in Sprite’s eyes grow more prominent at how weak his voice was.
The kid hesitated, then stalked over and jumped up on the bed next to him, ignoring Era’s immediate protests.
“Kid I’m going to get you sick, get off,” Era said sharply, but Sprite only crossed his arms behind his head and laid down.
“You shared your canteen with me yesterday, I’m probably already doomed,” he snipped back. “And I heard you and Gloam arguing, just go back to sleep, huh? It’s going to take you forever to get better if you don’t rest.”
“This from the kid who sleeps like two hours every night,” Era said with an eye roll, and Sprite elbowed him.
“Just go to sleep!”
Era still looked reluctant, and Sprite sighed, then creamed the knight with a pillow he’d grabbed without an ounce of apology. Era let out a affronted hey! and Sprite glared at him, holding the pillow threateningly under his arm.
“Era. Captain. Old Link. Go to sleep,” Sprite stressed. “Or it’ll be even longer ‘til we can leave.”
Era continued to glare half-heartedly at him, which Sprite returned with an equally fierce look, and Gloam decided to leave them to it.
“I’ll go see if Hue found that soup or not,” he said, trying not to smile, and began to leave the room.
“Wait, make sure nobody else comes in here,” Era rasped before he could go, grabbing Gloam’s wrist in a surprisingly strong grip. He gave him a serious look, and Gloam paused. “We don’t need it spreading. Keep Cloud out especially, you know h-how—”
He broke into a coughing fit again, and Gloam pulled his blanket back up around him, Sprite giving the knight a thinly-veiled look of worry.
“We’ll try and keep everyone out, calm down,” Gloam assured. “We’re serious though, obviously you need more rest. At least try and go back to sleep, I’ll go bring you some food in a bit.” Era didn’t reply, and Gloam left the room as Sprite rummaged in his pouch, already wondering how he was going to keep all the other Links out.
The sound of an ocarina followed him down the stairs, the slow notes of a lullaby ringing softly through the inn.

One Thing After Another
AN: What??? Two fics two days in a row??? Shocking, I know, but I had to write this for my final assignment in my superheroes class and I can’t just let it sit around. This is a Big Hero 6 fic based later in the second season of the show. You don’t have to have seen it if you wanna read it, but there’s two minor characters from the show in this fic and mentions of some of their villains if you really care about spoilers. And since this was a school assignment, it’s not my particular, ahem, brand of fics. Kinda went back to my roots for this one, all aboard the angst train! Hiro can’t catch a break, I really said fuck them kids bro (fr tho this show is awesome, you should really check it out!)
Hiro was tired. Scratch that, he was exhausted. They had to split up the team last night because Globby decided to try and pull of a jewelry heist while High Voltage robbed a bank, and Hiro ended up getting slammed against the giant metal vault. The resulting crack and shooting pain in his ribs wasn't a good sign, but he tried his best to hide the injury from Wasabi. The last thing he wanted was for him to freak out and go into mother hen mode. Keeping Baymax quiet about it was a task in and of itself, but he managed to get him far enough away from his friend to ease his concerns.
"I promise I'll ice it when we get home," he assured before shifting back to the task at hand.
High Voltage got away with a few bags stuffed to the brim with cash, leaving both Hiro and Wasabi twitching on the floor, hair fried and frizzed. They left feeling defeated, and Hiro was not in a good mood on the way back.
He was able to sneak into his room with relative ease, but not without a quick trip to the kitchen. He opened the freezer ever so slowly, grabbing the ice tray. Then, just as slowly, he closed the freezer door, easing the seal on the fridge shut. He grabbed a plastic bag from a drawer and headed up the stairs. It was the most tense few seconds he'd had that night, which was saying something.
Once in his room, he cracked the ice tray and dropped the remaining cubes in the bag. He took his time laying down on his bed, but he couldn't get comfortable.
He was facing the wall when he heard a beep, followed by an inflating fan. Out of the corner of his eye he watched Baymax shuffle to his bathroom and fumble around before returning to his bedside.
"Here, take this. It is an anti-inflammatory pain reliever. Pain management is important when healing rib fractures."
"Yeah yeah, take ibuprofen when it hurts too much. Thanks Baymax," he said, accepting the pill and glass of water. He grimaced as he sat up to take a drink.
Baymax returned from Tadashi's side of the room carrying extra pillows. He began meticulously placing them around Hiro.
"Uhh, what're you doing?"
"It is advised that you sleep upright. I will try to make you as comfortable as possible." Baymax took his time fluffing and arranging the pillows, patting his head before heading to the corner where Mochi was sleeping.
Hiro couldn't get comfortable to save his life. He always despised sleeping propped up, even when sick with a stuffy nose that left you gasping and flopping around in bed like a fish out of water. But now he couldn't fidget or toss and turn to get comfortable because even the slightest movement sent shockwaves of pain throughout his body. He just laid there, staring up at the ceiling as he let his thoughts spiral.
It didn't help that the pillows still smelled like Tadashi. He wasn't aware that his brother had a distinct scent until this moment, and he was struck with a sudden wave of grief.
Oh yeah, he wasn't going to get any sleep that night.
When his alarm went off, he was deliriously tired and aching from head to toe. It took him a while to pull himself out of bed, the melted ice pack flopping onto the floor as he stood. There was no way in hell he was bending over to pick it up, so he just kicked it under his bed. A problem for future Hiro.
He made it to the bathroom, glancing in the mirror before brushing his teeth. He jumped back when he saw his reflection, letting out a startled yelp. His eyes were bloodshot, skin pale with a thin sheen of sweat, and his hair was standing on end as if he were the Bride of Frankenstein. He swore he could see a quick spark of static electricity among the loose tangled.
He washed his face, enjoying the cool rag in his heated skin. He ran it under the faucet and squeezed out the water, resting it on the back of his neck.
Getting downstairs was a struggle, but luckily Baymax was at his side to help him ease down the steps.
Aunt Cass immediately knew something wasn't right.
"Oh my God what's wrong?" she exclaimed, rushing to the foot of the stairs and taking him from Baymax.
"Nothing's wrong, I just had a bad night's sleep is all," he tried to play it off.
"That's bologna and you know it!" she scolded, pointing a finger at him. He sighed, but even that hurt. She noticed the flinch and small grimace that came with the action.
"Hiro, what on earth did you do to yourself? I swear if this is because you snuck out to go bot fighting-"
"I didn't, I swear!" he cut her off. "I-I got jumped. On my way home from school yesterday. Some guys on the tram wanted to steal my backpack and I wouldn't let them, so they beat me up. I just- I didn't want you know because you already worry about me so much."
Her expression softened, though there was true concern in her eyes. "Oh Hiro, I'm always going to worry about you. But hiding something that serious from me is exactly why I worry so much! I mean, do you even hear yourself? You were attacked on your way home! I knew the crime rate is on the rise, but this is ridiculous! What did they do to you? Did they steal anything important?" she asked, hovering over him, and touching his face and hair. He slipped away, holding her hand to keep her at bay.
"I'm fine, really. They just... punched me around until they got my bag and when they saw it was full of homework, they tossed it back and left. That's it," he said, hoping she would buy into his lie. She practically deflated, flinging herself at her nephew and grabbing him in a crushing hug. He hissed in pain and shoved her away before he could think better of it.
"Sorry, sorry! Does it really hurt that bad?" she asked hesitantly.
"Just really sore, I-I'll be fine. Gotta get to school, don't wanna be late," he said, inching towards the door. Aunt Cass grabbed a few extra pastries and stuffed them in his lunch sack.
"Don't forget your lunch! I threw in a little something extra."
"Thanks Aunt Cass."
When she didn't answer, he turned around to face her. "What?"
"Maybe have Wasabi walk you home."
"I'll be fine-"
"Well you weren't yesterday!" Cass exclaimed before calming herself with a deep breath. "San Fransokyo isn't the city it used to be. Every day there's something else. It's not safe out there Hiro. At least, not like it used to be."
Hiro stepped closer, reaching out to touch her arm. "I-I know. But Big Hero 6 is taking care of it! They're making sure the city's safe. For everyone."
She sighed, a soft smile finding its way onto her face. "I have to admit, it has brought me some peace of mind. But they're not invincible either. So be careful out there, okay? You see any trouble, you come straight home."
"Yeah okay. I really gotta go now, okay bye!" With one more quick hug, he rushed out the door, Baymax in tow.
He was relieved when he made it to school, and even more relieved that he had open lab first thing. It was a much needed buffer period to wake himself up and attempt to act normal. When he walked in, Honey Lemon tried to mask her grimace with a smile.
"Hirooo! You look..." she trailed off, unable to find a nice way to voice her thoughts. Go-Go took one look at him and decided to answer on her behalf.
"You look like hot garbage. What's up?"
"Nothing! I just couldn't sleep last night, y'know?"
Honey Lemon sat down next to him. "Anything in particular bothering you?"
Yes, everything, he wanted to say.
"Nah, Wasabi and I just finished up late and I wasn't able to get comfortable. And uh... I was thinking about Tadashi," he admitted.
"He would be so proud of you," she said, taking his hand and holding it in both of hers. "But I know he'd also be worried. You need to make sure to take care of yourself, and that includes getting enough rest."
He rolled his eyes, yanking his arm back. "Now you're just sounding like Baymax," he teased. The robot looked their way when he heard his name and shuffled over.
"She is right. Rest is important for someone in your condition."
Honey Lemon whipped around to look at Hiro. "What's he talking about?" Before he could answer, Baymax began to explain.
"Hiro has broken-"
"A broken heart!" he rapidly cut him off.  Honey Lemon blinked in surprise and even Go-Go peaked out of her work cubicle, blowing a bubble with her gum to show she was listening in as well.
"Yeeeaaah, I just- can't get over Trina! Yeah, she was the first girl I liked since, um, everything, and her being a robot came as a shock, and I just, I can't get her out of my head," he rambled, silently praying they'd believe him.
"Oh Hiro, that's okay. There's plenty of cute girls your age! You just have to put yourself out there, you'll find someone," she comforted.
Okay, maybe the broken heart route wasn't the way to go, but he panicked.
Go-Go narrowed her eyes, looking him up and down from across the lab.
"I don't know what you're hiding, but you better hope I don't find out," she threatened before going back to her work.
"He's not hiding anything! He's just a little embarrassed about this sort of thing, right Hiro?"
"R-right. I'm nervous because I don't really have anyone to go to about this sort of thing," he bluffed, though there was a fair amount of truth to his words. It just wasn't the problem currently at hand.
"You know you can always come to us about this sort of thing."
Go-Go grunted and went back to her own work.
"Well, you can come to me." She stood up, giving him a kiss on the head before heading to her own station. He wiped off the lipgloss from his forehead, scowling at the sticky glittery smudge on the back of his hand. He wiped it off on his jeans, going back to his notes. And just like that, he was out like a light.
He woke up when his head slipped out of his hand that kept him propped up, face slamming on the desk. He jolted up too fast and hissed in pain, instantly reaching to hold his side, but even his own touch sent a sharp pain through his nerves. He checked to make sure nobody noticed.
Luckily, everyone seemed to be wrapped up in their own projects. He noticed Fred and Wasabi had arrived since he'd fallen asleep. He checked his phone and was shocked to see there was only 15 minutes left in the lab. Fred was talking to Honey Lemon about something and perked up when he noticed Hiro was awake.
She turned around and saw him sitting up at his desk and she turned back to Fred, speaking softly, "Oh Fred, not right now."
He was practically vibrating with excitement, and he was never one to listen. "He just needs a little something to brighten his day," he said with an evil chuckle. He soared across the lab on a rolling chair, skidding to a stop next to Hiro.
"What?"
"There's a new chapter of-"
"Nope." Hiro cut him off, pushing away from the desk and walking towards the door. Fred easily kept up in his wheelie chair and began reading the new chapter aloud.
"We last left our heroes in the abandoned five star restaurant, trapped in the deep freezer by Momakase," Fred narrated with a dramatic voice. Hiro groaned as he reached up to plug his ears. Fred raised his voice.
""What're we gonna do?" Tall Girl cried as-"
"I'm really not that tall," Honey Lemon interjected. Fred gave her a pointed look, making a show of clearing his throat before continuing.
""What're we gonna do?" Tall Girl cried as she failed to melt the hinges off the door. "Stand back, I got this!" Captain Cutie said, his deep voice demanding attention."
Hiro groaned and leaned against the wall, smacking his head repeatedly. "Why do you enjoy torturing me?" he asked weakly.
"Come on, where's that deep, commanding voice of yours?" Fred teased, rolling out of the way when Hiro swatted at him.
"It's not like I could use my normal voice! She would've recognized me for sure!" he felt the need to defend himself.
"No offense, but your voice isn't what she cares about," Go-Go interjected. When everyone stared at her, she shrugged. "What? You made all our suits tight and I've caught her staring," she deadpanned, but a teasing smirk was tugging at her lips.
"Aah-Didn't ask!" he cried, hands flying up to cover his ears. Fred managed to snatch his wrist and pried his hand away from his ear and continued reading.
"Captain Cutie pointed at the giant metal door, looking to Red Panda with a nod. Red Panda shot his rocket fist and blasted the door clean off! It fell to the floor with a heavy clang, a blast of cold air rushing out of the freezer and into the vacant industrial kitchen. As the team escaped their frigid prison, Karmi hesitated."
Fred let out a small gasp before continuing, "Captain Cutie paused in the doorway, looking over his shoulder at his girlfriend. "Aren't you coming?" he asked, voice laced with concern. Karmi looked away, biting her lip. "I'm scared." She felt a gentle hand cup her chin, tilting her head up to meet his gaze. "You have nothing to be afraid of. I'm right here, and I won't let anything happen to you.""
Hiro literally gagged when he heard those words, checking his watch before packing up his things. Despite his clear disinterest, Fred continued reading.
"Karmi's heart skipped a beat, her cheeks flushing slightly. "I know, but Momakase-" Captain Cutie put a finger to her lips, cutting her off. "Shhh. I know what you're going to say. It's not your fault Karmi." She took his hand, lacing their fingers together. The simple touch was comforting for them both. Karmi sighed, "But if she hadn't kidnapped me, we'd all be safe." Her voice was dejected and her shoulders sagged downward. Captain Cutie placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Look at me. It is not your fault, okay? We're gonna get through this. Together." She nodded hesitantly, offering a timid smile. Suddenly, the sound of Chop Chop's voice echoed down the hall calling for them. Karmi took a step towards the open doorway, only for Captain Cutie to grab ahold of her wrist. She looked over her shoulder to see her boyfriend raise the face shield of his helmet. "Wha-" but before she could speak, he pulled her close, their bodies flush against each other. He leaned in, slowly closing the distance before their lips me-"
Thank God the bell cut him off before he could finish that sentence. Hiro grabbed his bag and bolted out the door as fast as his fractured ribs would allow him to move.
As soon as he was out of view from his friends, he dropped the normal facade and a pained expression settled on his face. He walked to an empty table in the hall and dug around his backpack until he found the bottle of ibuprofen he'd packed that morning. He chugged down a few gulps from his water bottle, leaning against Baymax's squishy body for support and comfort.
The distinct sound of clacking heels on linoleum approached from behind and passed him in the hall. The footsteps came to a halt before turning around and approaching Hiro.
"Mr. Hamada?"
Hiro jumped to attention with a yelp of surprise and pain as his eyes flew open. Professor Granville was staring at him with confused concern, looking him up and down.
"Professor Granville! I-I was just on my way to class!"
"Mhm, so I see. I was hoping to run into you."
Hiro's stomach sank like a rock. "Y-you did? If this is about the expo, I already have a solid idea for my project."
She gave a tight lipped smile. "I'm glad to hear that, though that's not what I wished to discuss." She took a seat on the table next to Hiro's bag. "I saw the bank robbery on the news this morning. That was quite a hit you took on the vault door, and I just wanted to see if you're alright."
Her genuine concern both touched and shocked him. "Oh, uh, thanks but I'm okay." When she arched a skeptical brow, he sighed in defeat. "Baymax says I have fractures on two ribs on the left side. But I've been taking pain meds every few hours and I'll ice it when I get home. Thanks for looking out for me," he said, voice small.
Granville's expression softened. "I'm... sorry to hear that Hiro. When I was about your age, my father fell off the roof when cleaning out the gutters. He broke a rib when he hit a branch on the way down, and it was really hard on him. It's okay to take breaks when you need them Hiro."
He was quiet for a few moments. "I know, but I can't really afford that right now. Aunt Cass would want an explanation, and everyone would worry even more than they already do and- People need me to be there." His voice was on the verge of desperation.
Professor Granville's eyes widened as he spoke. "You mean you haven't told them?"
"Well Aunt Cass kinda knows? She could tell I was hurt so I lied and told her some guy tried to steal my backpack. But I didn't really tell her."
"But wasn't Wasabi with you when it happened?"
"Yeah, but you know how he is. He'd freak out, maybe faint, he'd make a huge deal over it," he explained. Granville frowned.
"Take it from me, broken ribs are nothing to scoff at. They require time and rest to heal properly. And to attempt to hide such a thing..." she trailed off and shook her head. She stood, brushing off her skirt. "I'm disappointed Mr Hamada." She took a few steps, stopping in front of Baymax.
"Take care of him."
Baymax blinked. "Hiro is my primary patient. His health is my top priority." She smiled sadly, patting his puffy arm as she passed. Hiro watched her walk down the hall, groaning as he laid down on the table.
Thankfully class went by rather quickly, but the day was already wearintg down on him. Needless to say, he was ready for lunch. He met Wasabi on his way out of the classroom, his mind distant as Wasabi talked about his upcoming thesis. He tried to remain engaged, but Wasabi could tell he wasn't fully listening.
"Somethin' on your mind little man? You know you can talk to me." His tone was light and casual, offering him a friendly smile. Hiro automatically returned it with a smile of his own, though his was considerably less genuine.
"Yeah, everything's just been a lot. And I slept like crap last night."
"Everything alright?"
"I guess. I just couldn't get my brain to shut up, and I kept thinking about Tadashi. Just... one of those nights, y'know?"
Wasabi frowned as he spoke, and he wrapped an arm around Hiro's shoulders.
"Sadly I do. Grief is hard, and it's not something that just goes away. It can help to talk about it, even if it's pretty much the last thing you wanna do."
"Thanks Wasabi, but I don't think I'm really ready to talk..."
"Hey, that's okay! Forget I said anything. But just know the offer's open anytime." He gave his shoulder a friendly pat before heading down the stairs. Hiro watched the way he gripped the handrail for dear life, taking them one step at a time. He could hear him mumbling under his breath, "Stupid stairs, so steep it feels like I'm climbing down a mountain."
Hiro huffed out a quick chuckle before following him to the cafeteria. Professor Granville's words echoed in his mind, a pang of guilt coursing through him as he stared at the back of Wasabi's head.
The day was really starting to take its toll on him, and it showed in his quiet, slightly exhausted demeanor. He picked at his lunch, only feeling up to eating half of it, opting to idly poke at the rest. He tuned in and out of the conversation at random. Luckily no one seemed to notice his disassociated state, or if they did, they decided not to pry.
Karmi was walking through the cafeteria when she spotted their table, a mischievous smirk tugging at her lips. Creeping up behind Hiro, she held a finger to her lips to signal the rest of the group to keep quiet.
"BOO!" she screamed as she lunged forward, grabbing him on either side. Karmi had expected hun to jump, maybe shriek like a scared little girl. But the scream that ripped from Hiro's throat was one of genuine pain. Karmi immediately jumped back, holding her hands in the air. He was doubled over clutching his lower ribs, a low groan escaping his lips.
Everyone froze in shock, mouths agape.as they stared at them. "Um, what was that?" Go-Go asked, shooting daggers at Karmi, then Hiro.
"I barely touched him, I swear!" she insisted, guilt written all over her face.
"It's fine," he grunted out.
"I'm sorry Karmi, could you excuse us for a second?" Honey Lemon asked in her usual bubbly voice.
"Uh, yeah sure. You sure you're okay Hiro?" she asked, reaching out with a gentle hand. He flinched away from the touch.
"Yes, okay?" he snapped in irritation. He took a deep breath and sighed in defeat. "I'm sorry, but I kinda need to talk about something, so could you give us a little privacy?"
"Oh! Um, yeah, of course." She walked away, shooting a worried glance over her shoulder. Go-Go and Wasabi spoke at the same time.
"Wanna tell us what all that was about?"
"I thought you said you were okay!"
"Hold up, what is going on?" Fred asked, looking around the table cluelessly.
"I asked you! I asked if you were okay and you lied to my face!" Wasabi exclaimed.
"B-But I didn't-"
Wasabi cut him off, which was never a good sign. "I'm talking about last night," he said sternly, arms crossed over his chest. Oh he was pissed.
"I didn't want you to worry?" he said, voice small and timid as he sank further in his seat.
"Well now we're all worried. So spill."
Hiro didn't speak for a while, but he finally decided it was time to come clean. "Last night when I was thrown into the bank vault, I apparently fractured a few ribs." He barreled on when he saw Wasabi open his mouth to retort. "But this is exactly why I didn't wanna say anything! I knew you'd freak out, and you wouldn't let me patrol with you guys."
"But didn't you make a remote controlled suit? You can still patrol and get the rest you need," Honey Lemon said, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. He shrugged it off.
"Yeah, but it's not the same. It makes it feel so... distant. But I guess I don't really have a choice, do I?" he snarked, sinking even lower in the chair. He was definitely pouting, but he'd never admit it.
"Just until you're healed, okay Hiro?" Honey Lemon said in a chipper tone to try to lift his spirits. It didn't seem to work.
"Yeah okay, sure. Whatever."
A buzz in his pocket grabbed his attention. He pulled out his phone, checking his texts. It was from Krei. Greeeaaat.
Hey kiddo!
"Ugh," Hiro scoffed and rolled his eyes, continuing to read.
Don't bother stopping by for the internship today, I'm giving you the day off! See, I can be a nice boss! I have to get ready for a date and I don't really like the idea of you having free reign in my lab.
Hiro had barely begun to type a response when another text came through.
Don't be mad, but I'm taking Cass out to dinner. I stopped by the café on my lunch break and apologized for last time and she said she'd give me a second chance! :D Mochi seemed to think it was a good idea HAHA! Fr though, hope you're not mad at me.
Hiro was more than mad: he was seething.
He threw his phone down on the table and snapped the plastic fork he'd been clutching in half. "Can this day get any worse!"
Fred leaned in, reading the texts over his shoulder. "Look on the bright side, you don't have to go to work! Buuut Krei is still trying to make a move on your aunt so I see your dilemma," he pondered aloud, stroking his chin in thought.
"Ew. I thought she was done with him after that whole imposter incident," Go-Go said through a mouthful of sushi.
"You know how she is, she's way too nice to turn someone down, especially now that I work for the  guy. And it doesn't help that she still thinks he's," he paused as a shiver ran down his spine. "Handsome." A chorus of ew's and gross rang out across the table.
"Hey, it's alright bud. She'll come to her senses and realize he's just another corporate sleaze like everyone says he is," Wasabi consoled him.
"But that's just it! He's not that empty shell of a Ken doll we're used to, and that's what I hate! I mean, yeah he's pretty much the most annoying adult I've ever met, but he's honestly halfway decent. He can be nice if he wants to be, and he's actually funny. Cass loves men who can make her laugh! What am I gonna do?" he cried out miserably, flopping against Wasabi's shoulder.
"It'll be okay Hiro. Even if this date goes well, he's bound to fumble the ball at some point. Then, she'll see what a turd burglar he really is and drop him like a hot potato," Fred said with such confidence, Hiro actually believed him.
"Thanks guys, really. It means a lot.
"Any time."
"Today's been... a lot. I think I'm gonna head up to the lab and work on some stuff."
"Want any company?"
"Thanks for the offer but I'll pass. Think I just need some time to myself, maybe take a nap. We'll see," he shrugged, turning around to head towards his lab. Tadashi's lab. Yeah, he needed to be alone.
He was working on a prototype for a more efficient saltwater purification system when he heard the door open. He responded without looking up, deep in his work despite his hunched posture wrecking havoc on his battered ribcage.
"Look, I appreciate you guys checking up on me, but I just want to be alone right no-" he froze as he sat up to face the intruder, expecting Fred or maybe Honey Lemon, but instead Karmi was standing in the doorway.
"Relax nerd, it's just me. I uh, brought a peace offering." Hiro furrowed his brows in confusion before noticing the ice pack in her hand.
"Y-you really didn't have to do that," he insisted, but she cut him off.
"I didn't know you were hurt, I was just trying to scare you. Professor Granville told me you broke a few ribs. I'm really sorry."
"It's fine, you didn't know."
Karmi took a seat next to him. He gave her a side eye and scooted away.
"From the sound of it, your friends didn't know either." When Hiro didn't answer, she continued. "Why didn't you tell them?"
"They already worry about me, I didn't want to give them an actual reason to. They were all Tadashi's friends first, and he's the one who introduced me. I just feel like... now that he's gone, they think they have to watch out for me on his behalf or something. I don't know, it just makes me feel like some kind of burden. Like, I can look out for myself!" Karmi blinked in shock, not expecting him to open up like that.
"I'm sorry for dumping all this on you."
"Don't be. I'm... I'm glad you told me. Sometimes, I think the regular college students forget what it was like to be a teen. Surprising seeing as it was just a few years ago for them," she chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. He offered a short lived smile, which was good enough for her.
"Heh, guess you're right."
"Aren't I always?"
"Ha, you wish."
They fell into an awkward silence, both of them adverting their gaze.
"Well, I guess I should go, you seemed pretty busy when I walked in."
Hiro pressed the ice pack against his arching ribs and visibly relaxed under the cold pressure. "You don't have to go, since you're already in here." She silently accepted the offer with a smug grin as sat back down.
"Well if you insist. Oh! I just posted a new chapter of my fic, want me to read it while you work?"
Although he wasn't able to hide the full body cringe that overtook him, he merely nodded, accepting his fate. She'd read it regardless, might as well give her permission.
Hiro's life was overwhelming to say the least. The loss of his brother, becoming a superhero, unmasking a villain, it was a lot to deal with. But sometimes, there were days that just threw everything at him. Broken ribs, a self insert written by his worst frenemy (where they're daring no less), his friends finding out about said injury, and his boss is trying to date his aunt was a lot to deal with individually, so having all of that happen within 24 hours was extremely overwhelming. But he wasn't alone. He had people who cared about him. He would just have to take it as it comes and deal with it one day at a time.
One thing after another.

What It Means to Be an Aussie
Summary: Mick Mundy, age eleven, is upset because kids at school laughed at him, telling him he’s no Aussie. When he comes to his mom for comfort, she has to face a dilemma: tell him he’s adopted or keep it a secret to protect him.
Fandom: Team Fortress 2
Ship: None (familial Sniper & Sniper’s Parents)
Warnings: None
Tags: Hurt/Comfort, Angst, Bullying, Adoption, Child Sniper (Team Fortress 2), Canon Compliant, Sad Sniper (Team Fortress 2), Australian Slang, Parent-Child Relationship
Wordcount: 737
A/N: This was a spur-of-a-moment fic written in two days, so be gentle, please. Incorporating Australian slang into it was a challenge, but at least I learned something new (ankle biter will never not make me smile), so I can use it later in my main fic Baby It’s All Just Chemistry. Writing Sniper and his family is hard, but I loved every second of it.
You can also read it on ao3!
It was late evening and Mrs. Mundy just finished knitting the last row of Mick’s new sweater. She was about to go to bed. Her husband was away on a hunting trip with his friends, so it was only her and their son in the house. Then she heard it. That small, hesitant rustle lingering by the door, as if whoever caused it was contemplating whether he should enter the room or not. She lit the lamp by her bedside and sat up, squinting at the lanky shadow cowering at the threshold.
Mick. Her little koala bear. Well, not so little anymore. He was barely eleven years old and already so tall. Soon, he would overgrow even his own father. But he never filled out the way his classmates did. “You’re just a late-bloomer,” they kept telling him when he came back from school with tears swelling in his eyes. “Give it time. Your father hasn’t grown a proper mustache until he was nearly fourteen.”
But they knew they were lying through their teeth.
“Micky?” she rubbed her eyes. What time was it? “What’s goin’ on? Can’t sleep?”
He shook his head, the poor thing. Then he slowly ever so slowly entered the room and without uttering a single word slipped underneath the cowers, diving beside her like he used to do when he was still a small nipper. She sighed and wrapped her arms around him like a warm blanket. Jonathan never liked it when the boy came to them at night asking if he could sleep in their bed with them. “He’s too old for that now,” he always argued. “He should just man up and go back to sleep like a normal adult bloke.”
But Mrs. Mundy shushed him every time and lifted the sheets for Mick to crawl under. Not many parents could say that their tackers still came to them at this age when they were hurting. It was beautiful, in its own way.
If only he hurt a little less often.
“They were laughin’ at me again, mom,” he finally spoke up in a shaky voice as if he was about to cry. “Said I’m not Aussie enough if I never want to fist-fight with them.”
Ah. This again. Kids really can be cruel. Mick was special, all of them could see that, as it was getting more obvious with age, and they feared him the way they feared everything they couldn’t beat up into submission.
“What’s wrong with me, mom? Why am I not like the others?”
Now this truly shattered her heart into tiny pieces. Maybe they should finally tell him the truth. But what then? Would he wonder where he was from? Or ask about his real parents and why they didn’t love him enough to keep him? And what would the other kids do if they found out he wasn’t from the outback like they were?
No, it had to remain a secret. Why should any of this matter anyway? He was their son. Maybe not by blood, but they loved him the same. And nothing would ever change that.
She hugged him a bit tighter, letting him snuggle up closer to her. “Oh no, ‘roo. There is nothin’ wrong with you. It’s them who should learn what it truly means to be an Aussie. Because it’s not about havin’ muscle upon muscle and bushy mustaches. It’s about what you have in your heart. And you are good just the way you are.” She heard a small, pitiful sob being pressed into her clavicle. Poor thing. She cooed at him until he calmed down a little, then went to stroke his hair. “You know what? Maybe next time dad will take you on a trip with him. Would you like that? He could even teach you how to shoot a rifle if you promise you’ll be careful.”
Mick wiped away the tear that got stuck on his long eyelashes. “R-really? You mean it?”
“Of course I do. If you’re gonna be good at it the way you are at throwin’ rocks, you will soon become the best hunter around.”
Finally, he smiled. “Thanks, mom. Love ya.”
“I love you too, Micky. You’ll never know how much.”
One day, Mick will grow up into something great and leave all those mean no-hopers behind. But for now... she held him as they both drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

Nipper – a child Bloke – a man Tackers - children No-hoper – somebody who’ll never perform well

Codywan Sleep Bingo FAQs
What do I have to include to fill a bingo square?
If you’re interested in participating in the Codywan Sleep Bingo 2023 Challenge, each fill you create must include Cody and Obi-Wan in a romantic and/or sexual pairing AND a sleeping prompt of your choice off your card. That’s it!
What can I put in the FREE square?
You can create whatever you want for the free square! However, and I’m sure this may come as a surprise, it must involve Cody and Obi-Wan and sleeping in some way, shape, or form.
Can I include other pairings?
Sure! Go wild! The only requirement to qualify as a fill is that a) Obi-Wan and b) Cody c) get up to something sleep related. We’d appreciate it if you could tag the other pairing, too, just to make it easier on us, your friendly neighborhood mods.
Also, because this is CODYWAN sleep bingo, Codywan should be:
The primary pairing
The “endgame” pairing
We look forward to seeing what you create!
Wait, isn’t this the FAQ from your last event(s)?
Friend, it sure is! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
What if there’s a prompt in my way and I don’t like it?
You have the option to change the position of one (1) prompt on your Codywan Sleep Bingo Card.
Can I ask for a new bingo card if I don’t like enough of my prompts?
Unfortunately, no. Each card is procedurally generated. If we allowed people to just keep asking for new cards in order to easily get a bingo, the format of the event sort of falls apart, and what’s more, it wouldn’t be fair to the people who worked hard to write a prompt they didn’t immediately have an idea for.
We’re sorry if you got a particularly difficult card! We hope you enjoy the challenge of trying to get a bingo anyway, and remember, you can always move one prompt and use your free space!
Can I write a fic using a sleep idea that is not on my bingo card in order to get a bingo?
Absolutely, that is what the Free Space is for! As long as you fill at least five prompts in a row, as per the rules of Bingo, you have achieved a bingo.
No, I mean, can I submit a fic (or five fics) where Cody and Obi-Wan sleep without using my bingo card, and still get a bingo?
Unfortunately, no. We are playing Codywan Sleep Bingo, and so in order to be in the collection/part of the event you do have to be filling prompts on your bingo card. However, if you want to write sleepy fic outside of our event, we are sure not gonna stop you!
How long does my fic have to be if I write?
Each bingo fic fill should be a minimum of 100 words. No upper limit. You can write as much as you want about them having sleepy fun, and, in fact, we’d love it if you did!
Can one piece of art qualify for more than one bingo fill?
Unfortunately, no. Due to the nature of art being a visual medium, we ask for ONE piece of art per ONE fill. We do, however, accept variations on a piece as a second fill, so long as it is not exactly the same piece (sketches, slightly different poses, playing with colors to give the same drawing a different feel–all fine, all separate fills). If you have questions about whether your piece would qualify, reach out and we’re happy to assist!
What if I include all the prompts in one fic?
That sounds impressive and we’d love to see someone pull it off! However, the word count minimum remains the same. So, if you do five prompts in a single fic, it should be at least 500 words long.
What if I already have a fic or piece of art that fits a prompt? Can I add it to the collection?
No, this event only accepts new pieces of art/fic/media/etc. We want to encourage the creation of brand new Codywan pieces, so we can’t accept previously published items of any sort, even if you change them slightly.
Can I have a card to fill outside of the event?
We scoured our brains for prompts and set up the bingo generator specifically for this event. Each card we generate and record information about takes time and we are both very busy. We therefore respectfully ask that you only request a card if you intend to participate in our event.
How many fills do I have to create?
In order to get a bingo, you need to fill a minimum of five (5) prompts in a row. You can fill them in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line. You may include one or more prompts in a single fic or a comic or…. Well, you get the idea.
You may also decide to do a blackout! We’d love to see one!
What’s a blackout?
Ah, so you were paying attention when we mentioned that in the last answer, huh? A blackout in bingo is when you complete EVERY SQUARE on your card. That means 25 prompts! We’d LOVE to see some blackouts and each person who completes one gets a special shout-out on our Hall of Fame Bingo Card Winners Supreme Post along with a fierce feeling of pride at a job well done.
When do I have to post?
Technically, you can post your fills whenever. HOWEVER, if you want to be included in our ao3 collection and/or part of our Hall of Fame Bingo Card Winners Supreme Post you must have your bingo completed by March 10th.
Where do I have to post?
Well, you can pretty much post wherever. HOWEVER. If you want to be included in the ao3 collection, your works are going to have to be on ao3. Also, if you put your pieces behind a paywall, the mods are not going to be able to see them and therefore we cannot award you a completed bingo.
How do I get started again?
We’re glad you asked! Click right here and get your very own, unique and specialized Codywan Sleep Bingo 2023 card!
Wait, don’t go, I have more questions!
Feel free to send us an ask and we’ll help you out, friend!

oh my god oh my god oh my god!! i didn't see your post about anniversary requests until now and i'm literally begging, pleading with a cherry on top -
will you please write anything about my absolute loves maggie and bradley? i miss them so much!! how are they doing? please tell me they spent some time after everything just holding each other ugh
(can you tell it's one of my comfort fics that i go back to read when i want just the right amount of heart wrenching angst mixed in with fluff? i've re-read it so many times i've lost count!)
Alex!!! I love that you love Maggie and Bradley so much and omg that they are one of your comfort couples has me giggling! This is a self plug but I only have one other full-length Bradley series that's Bradley x Reader that you may like if you haven't read it! Lots of angst as well.
Not sure if this is exactly what you were looking for, but I went back and was re-reading and thought this would be a good place to add in the narrative of what we saw with Bradley and Maggie! In terms of how they're doing now – they are great!! They get married in a very small ceremony and have their son pretty quickly after. Bradley insists that after long nursing shifts, Maggie comes home and he gives her a foot rub, even if he's worked a 12-hour day, too. She loves that he smells like jet fuel and she gets really into sourdough bread and he adores how she always tries to make little treats out of the discard that never turn out well but she never stops making them. They only have one son, Nick. They use the rest of Maggie's trust to buy a small house in Colorado where they go skiing in the winter and drink hot chocolate by the fire and when Nick goes away to UVA Bradley has to convince Maggie not to call him three times a day and to only send one care package a month instead of five. To me, these two are perfect and I miss them so much!
This takes place around chapter 3 after Maggie gets wasted at the Hard Deck and Bradley brings her home, sleeps on the couch and makes sure she's OK in the morning.
“What?” you asked him.
He shook his head, looking you up and down. Your hair was starting to dry. You had no makeup on, a ratty old blue robe and a pair of slippers. But the way he was looking at you felt like you were wearing an evening gown and full glam. It sent a shiver down your spine.
“Seriously, Bradley, what is it?” you asked, self conscious under his gaze.
Bradley gave you a small, sad smile. “Just realizing everything I lost, back then.” He paused. “Everything I could have had for the last eight years.”
You turned back to the coffee pot, hiding your face. His words made tears prick at the back of your eyes. You wanted the ground to open into a massive sinkhole and swallow you whole so you never had to face the devastating truth that maybe, just maybe, Bradley Bradshaw had been the one all along. And the two of you had just ruined it the way only two kids who are in love can.
"Mags, I–"
"Phoenix is pretty," you interrupted, reaching for the mugs on the second row of shelves. You stood on your tiptoes the best you could in your slippers but it's not enough. Damn shelves.
A shadow appeared behind you and you felt the heat of Bradley's body as he crept up, one long, muscular arm reaching for the mugs, gripping them easily. He set one, then another, down on the counter space in front of you, but he didn't retreat. You had both hands on the counter, grounding yourself, as Bradley hovered behind you.
So close it felt like he was pressed against you, but it was the air tightening in every direction.
You closed your eyes. And for a moment you were twenty-one again. And he was just a boy you loved more than anything. And he was falling through your fingers, ready to flee at any moment.
You opened your eyes. "She's pretty," you repeated.
"She's not you."
The words clung in the air. You swiveled around, Bradley hovering only inches from you, his head tilted down so his chocolate eyes could peer into your depths. "Bradley," you murmured.
"Nobody has ever come close, Mags," he whispered. "Not a single girl in the last decade has ever challenged me or cared for me the way you did. And I fucked it all up."
"Yeah, you did." Pain flashed across his face. To your disbelief and Bradley's, you reached out a hand, running your fingers down his cheek. He felt so different and yet when he looked at you, it felt the same as it had ten years before. He had a way of looking at you like you were the only person left on Earth. Like the walls simply melted away and it was just you and him and the slow rise of your chests and the air swirling around your bodies and everything else was almost a distant memory.
"Have I said I'm sorry?"
"It's not enough," you replied. His face went pale. "Besides, we're just friends, Bradley. Sometimes your friend makes you upset. But you get over it. Time heals and all that shit, right?"
"Right," he said solemnly, backing away as the coffee pot hissed. You lifted it, pouring into the two mugs and holding one out to him.
"Cream?" you asked.
He tipped his head to the side. "Don't you remember, baby? We always took our coffee the same way."
You added a splash into his mug and then one into your own before opening the fridge and depositing the carton back inside. "I know. I hate that I know you like the back of my hand. I tried to forget you, Bradley. But forgetting is like trying to remember something you never knew. Next to impossible."
"I never wanted to forget you, Mags," he said, blowing on his cup of coffee. "Somehow I always knew we'd find our way back to each other."

Hiiiiii,
Ever since I read your other Niner/Boss snippet I've been head over heels for that ship!
Would you feel up to writing another one for them with uhmmm number 3? :D
hiiii! the song was cubs in five, by the mountain goats.
this turned out pretty bittersweet, but with a hopeful ending. post-order 66 fic, post/pre-established relationship. they're going to be just fine; they just don't know it yet. (also. it got.... long.)
---
Boss reviews the navcomp’s calculations for the third time and breathes out. The cockpit of their stolen shuttle is tiny and cold, and the harsh blue light that fills the viewport makes his head hurt worse than it already did. The hum of the hyperdrive fills his ears, and the vessel’s so quiet it’s hard to remember he’s not alone. Boss glances at the navcomp one last time, anxiety burning a hole in his stomach, and then he exhales and makes himself push the pilot’s seat back, away from the panels.
This is usually Fixer’s job. He’s better at it than Boss has ever been, because Boss never had to learn to be perfect at it in that way he never had to be the best shot in the squad because that used to be Sev’s job.
The hallway beyond the cockpit is empty and very dark. Boss blinks, gives his eyes some time to adjust. The whole ship stinks of engine grease, from the hold to the tiny fresher tucked between the two berths, and everything feels sticky-smooth to the touch, even the recycled air Boss now forces into his lungs with every single measured inhale.
It is actually a pretty good ship. Not too small, with a functioning hyperdrive and decent sublight engines and a row of tidy little cannons tucked close to its spine. It beats an Imperial shuttle, and it’s certainly better than staying with the army, caught behind enemy lines.
At first it wasn’t too bad—it was more of the same, really. And then it wasn’t.
Boss shakes himself. He starts walking again, and then realises he doesn’t know where to go. Fixer and Scorch are in one of the cabins, what’s left of Omega will be in the other. He is unsure of his welcome to any of those two places. The knowledge hurts, but it’s such an old pain. Boss makes himself look at it, poke at it, standing alone in the dark hallway. He knows grief is like a bruise: you just have to give it time. And he used to think of himself as a patient man, but there’s something about the rawness of new hurts, especially when they are not so new: Sev has been on Kashyyyk for two years.
In the end, he returns to the cockpit. He takes a seat on the uncomfortable pilot chair and  leans back, hands knitted together over his belly and legs awkwardly folded against the panel in front of him. Boss rubs his hands together, cold despite the katarn, and stares into the blue, his headache growing sharper, deeper, worse.
He just wanted to sleep. A few hours of uninterrupted sleep in a cot somewhere.
Something rattles at his back. Boss turns to look over the back of the seat at the door; half a second later it opens on its own to reveal Niner. The smell of caf—cheap, bitter, warm—fills the cockpit, tries and fails to drown the stink of engine grease; Boss feels his mouth fill with spit in turn.
He accepts the offered mug of caf without a word, feeling off-balance, caught by surprise. Niner pauses there, eyes thoughtful. He looks tired, older. The last time they saw each other he was smiling.
Boss missed him: he accepted Niner’s was just another absence he had to grieve, and got to it. Now he finds he does not know how to deal with Niner’s presence.
He knows he’s staring. Niner looks back calmly, steady. He expects nothing from Boss, not really. The certainty is—freeing. Boss exhales. He grunts his thanks and turns back to the viewport, hot mug of caf cradled in his hands. It’s bitter and full of dregs, but he sighs into it, burns his tongue and his lips.
In the end, the caf just makes his headache worse. Boss falls asleep in the pilot seat: Fixer wakes him up three hours later, face blank and eyes flat, bare hand heavy on Boss’s shoulder, and Boss allows himself to be herded into a cot in an empty cabin, into someone else’s bed.
Darman stares at him from the other cot, but Boss’s too tired. He buries his face in Niner’s pillow, breathing him in, and falls back into dreams.

Hi! I don't know if you're ok with doing fics for seventeen, but if you are, could you write a snz fic where Seungcheol, seungkwan, and Joshua all catch a cold and pass it around?
I'm not happy with this fic, but I tried my best. I hope you enjoy
The Sniffles
It started off simple enough. A few sniffles here, a couple sneezes there. Seungcheol was blaming his rhinitis, Seungkwan was claiming his nose was just sensitive to cold weather, and Joshua was saying that he's just a little bit sneezy. No one had connected the dots until dinner when all thirteen members were gathered in the same room eating.
Joshua was currently blowing his nose for what seemed like the millionth time that day when he sneezed three times in a row. "Can somebody pass me some tissues or napkins please?"
Seungcheol had grabbed a couple of napkins and was seemingly about to pass them to the younger. However, he wound up using napkins to quickly cover his own mouth. "Heh-stiegh, hih-stistschhh."
"Bless you both." Vernon said as he grabbed some more napkins and passed them to Joshua. "Hyungs, are you feeling alright?" Both Seungcheol and Joshua nodded as they tended to their noses.
Dinner went back to normal for a few minutes. Until there was a clatter and a plate of food on the floor. Twelve of the members looked in the direction of the sound, only to see Seungkwan's head on the table with his eyes closed. Seungkwan had been sitting at the head of the table, Chan on one side, Jihoon on the other.
"Uh, hyung's asleep." Chan said as he tried to nudge the older awake.
"In all honesty, he looked about ready to fall asleep for the past thirty minutes." Jihoon said as he grabbed a napkin before gently lifting up Seungkwan's head to clean his face of the food that didn't make it to the floor. However, he frowned as soon as his hand touched the younger's cheek.
"Kwannie's sick. He's got a fever." Jihoon looked up and quickly glanced at Seungcheol and Joshua. "How much do you wanna bet Cheol hyung and Joshua hyung are sick too?"
Both Seungcheol and Joshua were vehement that they weren't sick as Jeonghan got up to grab the thermometer. The second oldest returned and first scanned Seungkwan's forehead, confirming his fever before moving on to the other two. Sure enough, they had fevers too.
"Okay, Seokmin, Mingyu, can you please carry Kwannie to his bed?" The duo nodded at Jeonghan's question and moved in tandem to pick him up. "Hyung, Joshua, you're both sick. I want you both in bed once dinner is over. I will be calling hyungs if you don't listen." Jeonghan's threat seemed to work because neither member argued about going to bed after dinner.
"Okay, let's get this cleaned up. I'm going to call the manager and let him know that three of us are sick." Jeonghan said as he picked up his own plate and began walking to the kitchen. The rest of the group followed suit and cleaned up as soon as they were finished eating. By the time everything had been cleaned up and everyone was ready for bed, Jeonghan had talked with the manager. Unfortunately, with award season imminently approaching, the three sick members could only get a day off even though they all had fevers.
The following day, Jeonghan was the first one awake. He quickly walked around to the various rooms to check on the three sick members, but didn’t find Seungkwan in his room. Jeonghan didn’t think too much about it because it’s not uncommon for sick members to migrate to the living room. Sure enough he found Seungkwan on the couch, although he was awake watching tv as opposed to sleeping.
"How you feeling Kwannie?" Jeonghan asked. He sat next to the younger and placed his hand on his forehead. He wasn't surprised to still feel warmth.
"I don't feel great hyung. I woke up cold and I h-have a hea-itschhhh, hih-stchhhh headache." Jeonghan frowned in sympathy as Seungkwan winced after he sneezed. "I don't remember going to bed last night, is my fever that high?" Seungkwan sounded a bit concerned.
"No, your fever isn't that high. You fell asleep during dinner and that's when we figured out that you, Joshua, and Cheol hyung are sick. You guys have today to rest, but that's it unfortunately. Do you want me to get you some meds?"
Seungkwan shook his head. "We don't have any. I already looked." Jeonghan frowned and got up. He went to their medicine cabinet, and sure enough, the only meds they had were allergy meds and their daily vitamins. It was too early to go to the pharmacy, so Jeonghan did the next best thing he could think of. He grabbed a washcloth and ran it under cool water. He then brought it to Seungkwan and told him to lie down. Seungkwan looked a bit confused, but did as told. Jeonghan placed the washcloth on his dongsaeng's forehead.
“Hopefully this will help with your headache until a pharmacy run can be made.” Jeonghan decided to sit on the floor and he pulled his phone out. He sent a quick text to their manager asking him to run to the pharmacy once it was a more acceptable hour. He then turned his attention to the show that Seungkwan had playing and began to make conversation with the younger about the show. Over the course of the next hour, the other members began to make their way out of their rooms.
Seungcheol and Joshua both grabbed some tissues upon walking into the living room. Seungcheol productively blew his nose, while Joshua wound up sneezing five times before being able to blow his nose. Seokmin and Soonyoung went to the kitchen to get started on breakfast and the others got themselves comfortable in the living room.
“How’s everyone doing today?” Minghao asked. He leaned over a little from where he was sitting and felt the foreheads of both Joshua and Seungcheol. He then took note of Seungkwan on the couch with a washcloth on his forehead and became slightly concerned. Before he could ask about Seungkwan, the leader answered the question.
“I feel crappy. I barely slept because I was too congested, and when the congestion lessened to the point I could sleep, I wound up sneezing myself awake.”
Joshua mumbled in agreement.
“Too loud.” Seungkwan said. All of the members that were in the room turned their attention to the one on the couch. Jeonghan frowned in sympathy.
“Kwannie has a headache and we don’t have any pain meds right now. I texted our manager to go to the pharmacy, but for now we can’t do much.” Jihoon moved over to the couch and gently lifted up Seungkwan’s head and slid his lap under his sick dongsaeng. Jihoon then began to massage Seungkwan’s scalp, which caused him to melt a little at the ministrations.  The group remained quiet in hopes of not worsening Seungkwan’s headache.
Half an hour later Seokmin and Soonyoung announced that breakfast was ready, so the group migrated to the dining area. The thirteen members discussed what the day was going to look like, and the ten healthy members were expressing slight concern over the fact that the three sickies only had a day to rest. However, Seungcheol, Joshua, and Seungkwan all reassured them that they’d be fine to work after a day of proper rest.
There were several points during breakfast where one or more of the sick members were overcome with small sneezing fits. Joshua accidentally sneezed on both Wonwoo and Vernon at different times. He profusely apologized after, but they told him not to worry about it. Seungcheol was pretty much eating with a tissue either pressed to his face centimeters from his face. While Seungkwan was feeling too miserable to really do anything about his sneezing. Stifling made his headache worse and he had some fairly bad brain fog, causing him to cover a second too late. Jun had been sitting next to Seungkwan throughout the meal and at one point got up and grabbed a handful of tissues before returning to his seat. He placed one hand on the back of Seungkwan’s head and the tissue covered one on his face.
“Blow, Kwannie.” Seungkwan did as told, but it was clear from how lethargic it sounded and the wince on his face after that he had tried not to worsen his headache to no avail.
“I’m going back to bed.” The third youngest said after Jun felt that his nose had been adequately blown. Shortly thereafter it was time for the ten healthy members to get ready to leave. Jeonghan made sure to let both Seungcheol and Joshua know that a manager would be by later to drop off medicine.
Nothing really interesting happened during the day at the dorm. The three sick members spent the majority of the day either sleeping or watching tv. Seungkwan’s headache had lessened after some more sleep and went away completely when he was able to get some pain meds. The other ten members wound up having a very busy day. The dance teacher wasn’t happy to find that three members were absent, and decided that the group needed to do an extra hour of practice to compensate for the missing members. They had all come home utterly exhausted and Joshua made dinner for everyone.
The following morning, Seungcheol, Joshua, and Seungkwan weren’t really feeling any better. However they no longer had fevers. Currently the only ones awake were Seungcheol, Joshua, Seungkwan, Jihoon, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Chan. It was clear that Mingyu had come down with the cold because he had already had three mini sneezing fits that all lasted longer than his usual fits did.
The next ones to wake up were Jeonghan, Soonyoung, and Seokmin. Jeonghan had a noticeable pink tinge to his nose, and Soonyoung didn’t actually look like he slept. In fact, he went straight for the couch and immediately closed his eyes. Then ten members just kind of waited in silence that was interrupted by sniffling and sneezing until the final three members woke up.
A little while later, the final three could be heard coming out of their rooms. Junhui stopped just short of the end of the hallway, causing a still sleepy Vernon to crash into him.
“HEH-STSCHHH, HIH-STSHIESHHH.” Junhui then went to where the tissues were located and spent a solid minute clearing out his sinuses to the best of his ability.
“Okay, so seven of us are clearly sick. Is anybody else feeling ill?” Seungcheol asked as he texted their primary manager that over half the group had caught the cold. Wonwoo and Minghao were the only ones who didn’t raise their hands at the question. Seungcheol relayed this to the manager, who responded a few minutes later. Unfortunately, there was no room in the schedule for any of the members to stay at home and rest unless they literally cannot leave the dorm. The members all sighed at the information while they started to get ready for the day.
The group had started the day with vocal practice, and it did not go well. Joshua had somehow managed to lose his voice in the short time between eating breakfast and arriving at the company. Mingyu could not stop sneezing. Jihoon had developed a cough from all the mucus congregating in his throat. The members also just looked done for the day and it wasn’t even eleven yet. Thankfully the vocal coach was a very sympathetic person, because the session got cancelled within twenty minutes.
Dance practice was a different story. The dance instructor was still irritated about three members being absent the previous day and didn’t care that the entire group was sick. The dancing wasn’t helping Jihoon’s cough, Mingyu kept stopping in his tracks to sneeze, which nearly caused several accidents, and Soonyoung fell asleep standing up during the first water break. It was clear to Seungcheol that even though the group couldn’t all take a day or two off, some of the members really needed it. Still feeling rather unwell himself, the leader made an executive decision.
The leader walked over to the computer and turned off the music.”Okay guys, pack it up. I don’t care that we need to practice. Too many of u-us HIH-stieghhh, heh-stieghhh, are sick. It would be better for us to rest now so that we’re at least somewhat healthy for our performance instead of practicing our butts off and potentially need to cancel.” The group was quick to follow Seungcheol’s orders and packed up their things.
Seungcheol had sent a text to their manager stating that the entire group was going to be taking a break for at least a couple of days. He also told the manager to check the cameras that were in every dance studio for proof that the group wasn’t currently in good enough condition for extensive practice.
The group arrived back at the dorm and some went straight for the living room, while others went to their rooms. Dance practice had clearly worn the group out when it normally wouldn’t have. The group opted to order food and have a quiet night instead of making anything.
Over the next couple of days, the dorm was full of sniffling and sneezing from all of the members. Minghao and Wonwoo had also gotten the cold, which wasn’t the slightest bit surprising. It took about a week before the majority of the group was feeling moderately well enough to go to practice. However dance practice with their instructor got cancelled, because the instructor had caught their cold and was apparently too sick to come in to work. This made the members laugh a little since the instructor was really mad at them for missing work.

WIP Game! ✨
RULES: post the names of all the files in your WIP folder regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet of it or tell them something about it.
-
i was tagged by @luredin (thank you!) and i’ll tag @redgoldblue, @spaceradars, @logicgunn, and you, the person reading this, to either do this tag game, not do it, or do it six months from now (or anywhere between now and then) - whichever works for you.
-
and then, hm. the thing about how i write fic is that technically speaking it’s, uh, deeply inefficient, in the sense that i’ll start a hundred things (more literally than you might think) and bounce around between them until something gets close enough to being finished that it just needs a final little push (which only happens for about half the things i start, but that’s okay, because the other half is also an invaluable part of the process).
point being, the list of WIPs is long. curated version (with any projects i’d consider abondoned/barely started filtered out) below the cut. send me a title or fandom + number!

Insomnia(Azuma x reader)
Summary/preview: “Hello? Oh, it’s you, dear. What can I do for you this late at night?” Azuma asked, his voice smooth as usual. “Can I sleep with you?”, you paused, contemplating your decision, “Actually, no, I’m sorry for interrupting, you should probably go get some sl-“ “Of course, dear, come on in. You came to the right person.” I couldn’t sleep, so I wrote a fic where Azuma helps the reader get some rest!
Tags/notes: GN!reader, fluff, comfort, drabble, warning for one(1) uncensored swear, the relationship can be interpreted as platonic or romantic I didn’t really have a set relationship in mind when I wrote this I just wanted cuddles, this takes place before act 2, probably somewhere after nocturnality
You knocked on Azuma’s door, patiently awaiting the response.
It was the third night in a row that your brain just couldn’t relax enough and made dumb decisions. The first two nights you ended up busying yourself with writing, but tonight, you were done with your brain’s dumbassery and needed some help.
After a few seconds of silence and some creaking, the door finally opened.
“Hello? Oh, it’s you, dear. What can I do for you this late at night?” Azuma asked, his voice smooth as usual. He sounded oddly awake despite knowing what time it was.
“Can I sleep with you?” you paused, contemplating your decision, “Actually, no, I’m sorry for interrupting, you should probably go get some sl-“
“Of course, dear, come on in. You came to the right person.” He opened the door, inviting you inside. You accepted, stepping into his room.
“You see,” he started, shutting the door behind you, “I haven’t been able to sleep tonight either, so maybe we could help each other out, hm?”
“Mmhm.” you mumbled.
“Now, could you come into my arms? We’ll get to bed soon, I promise, I just wanted to hold you for a little bit first.” Azuma’s smile was warm and inviting as he held his arms out, ready for you to slip into them at any moment.
Without any thought other than your slight drowsiness, you clambered into his hold, allowing him to gently caress you, his hands slowly moving up and down your back in light strokes.
“There we are. It’s nice to hold you like this, you know that? You’re very easy to hug.”
You slightly loosened your grip on Azuma, allowing yourself to practically melt into his embrace.
It was a warm, gentle hold, not too tight, but just loose enough to make you feel like if you moved too much you would shatter. You closed your eyes, allowing this warm feeling billowing inside your chest to linger for a moment before Azuma let go.
“Alright, there we are. Now, let’s get to bed, shall we?”
You managed to muster a hum in response as you climbed up into the bed behind Azuma.
When you reached the top of the ladder, you found Azuma already adjusting his position so you could lay your upper body on his chest.
“Mm, is that better? If we lay this way you can listen to my heartbeat and I can hold you at the same time. Does that sound nice?”
“Mhm, yeah.”
Azuma giggled at your sleepy reply.
“Good. Then just relax for me, okay?”
And God, did you relax. There just seemed to be something in the air when he was around that always made the atmosphere so calm and comforting. Your guard was down, your thoughts started to muddle, and your body started to feel limp. The rest you wanted was finally going to come.
Azuma could feel the shift in your body, and giggled again.
“My, looks like someone’s finally sleepy. I hope this’ll happen more often, I’ve been needing some cuddles myself.” He stopped as he was interrupted by a yawn as his own body started to become limp.
“Ah, and it looks like I should stop talking. Well, sweet dreams.” He closed his sentiment with a kiss to your forehead, then allowed his own eyes to flutter shut.
His breathing became steady and even, and with your ear to his chest, you could feel his heartbeat start to do the same.
It was calming, a presence that grounded you to your surroundings. Something to remind you that you were safe. That you were loved. That you had a space to come to, and someone who cares.
And it was that kind presence that lulled you to sleep.
