Writing advice from my uni teachers:

If your dialog feels flat, rewrite the scene pretending the characters cannot at any cost say exactly what they mean. No one says “I’m mad” but they can say it in 100 other ways.

Wrote a chapter but you dislike it? Rewrite it again from memory. That way you’re only remembering the main parts and can fill in extra details. My teacher who was a playwright literally writes every single script twice because of this.

Don’t overuse metaphors, or they lose their potency. Limit yourself.

Before you write your novel, write a page of anything from your characters POV so you can get their voice right. Do this for every main character introduced.

Matcha: How do they propose to their s/o?

🎮 Marriage is a huge commitment, and he wants to be sure he’s ready for it. No matter what the Spring Troupe has taught him, the idea of picking someone and sticking with them is still a scary concept. When it comes to you, though, I think he knew pretty early on that he was ready for forever this time.

🎮 He was pretty smart about bringing up the topic of marriage, and if you were ready and okay with it. Once he was really, really sure, he had to hype himself up to actually propose.

🎮 But how would he do it? Where? Did he want it to be really big, or something small but unexpected? Was he even ready? Would he ever be?

🎮 It took a lot of thought, but he finally managed to come up with a plan.

🎮 It was a surprise when Itaru asked you to go to the arcade with him that evening, though you took him up on the offer.

🎮 As promised, he picked you up after he finished his work for the day, and the two of you took off.

🎮 The evening was nice, and you spent it ragging on each other for your fighting game skills, despite every match being quite even.

🎮 Though, just before closing, Itaru suggested going to one of the claw machines to win you a cute plushie to remember the day by. You cheekily protested, noting that you already have too many… oh, but what’s one more?

🎮 He laughed, slipping the token into the slot. The way he moved the catcher was honestly impressive, with each movement being scarily precise, up until it hovered above a fluffy tanuki plush.

🎮 With a slam of the button, the catcher lowered, perfectly picking it up, and you could have sworn you saw him wipe away a bead of sweat. This usually wasn’t such a big deal to him…

🎮 The machine chimed, and Itaru took the plushie out of the door.

🎮 Once he did, he handed it to you with a chuckle.

🎮 “There ya go. But there’s one more prize I managed to catch,” he said with a smirk.

🎮 He knelt to reach into the prize area of the machine once more, but what he pulled out was unexpected.

🎮 You felt your breath catch as you squeezed the tanuki just a little closer, right as Itaru pulled out a small box. His expression softened as he began to properly kneel, unveiling the ring.

🎮 “Will you marry me?”

Green Tea: How do they comfort their s/o? 

🎮 Itaru’s main source of comfort is distraction and escapism, and, for him, that applies to you, too.

🎮 So when he sees you looking down in the dumps, his immediate response is to wrap you in a blanket, order some pizza, and turn on your favorite show or play a game you like with you.

🎮 Maybe you won’t talk to him just yet, but it doesn’t matter. He won’t force it. The goal right now is to calm you down, you can discuss it later.

🎮 He’ll offer simple decisions to get you out of your head, too, like picking between two sodas or what show to watch next.

🎮 He’s not really one for physical affection when it comes to comfort, though if an issue is starting to overwhelm you, he’ll take your hand and give it a good squeeze to let you know he’s still there, or to give you something else to think about.

🎮 Of course, once you’re back up to speed and feeling a bit better, he’ll congratulate you with a quick kiss to the top of your head and a pat on the back.

Chai: How do they spice up the relationship?

⚙️ With Guy, I don’t think the relationship will ever get too boring or stale, but maybe on occasion there will be a few days where you’re feeling a bit distant. Maybe work or school picked up, maybe he’s in the middle of a show, what have you. It’s hard to spend extra time together, and when you do, it’s not really anything noteworthy.

⚙️ That’s when he decides to take things into his own hands.

⚙️ You come home after a long day, exhausted. You open the door, and to your surprise, Guy was already there, setting down the last of a set of several dishes.

⚙️ “Welcome back, my love,” he greeted, stepping up to take your hand.

⚙️ “Guy, what’s all this?” You asked curiously.

⚙️ “It’s been difficult for us to find time to spend together recently, so I took the liberty of using the extra time after rehearsal to make us a nice dinner,” he explained, only to hesitate. “Ah, let me take your coat. Please, have a seat.”

⚙️ You complied, finding yourself flustered at his gentlemanly behavior.

⚙️ Once you were seated and your coat had been taken care of, he set the needle down on his record player, allowing a stream of notes from his latest addition to his collection flow throughout the room, a soothing wave of jazz washing over you.

⚙️ He sat across from you, his features softening as he watched your body begin to relax into the chair. He offered you a plate, and you couldn’t help but smile, taking it to start eating.

⚙️ You spent a lovely evening together with delicious food and good company. Yep, this is what the relationship needed after all.

Peppermint Tea: What gets them excited?

⚙️ Guy might not have the most outward way of showing it, but a lot of things make him really happy!

⚙️ For example, when a returning customer to Journey tries something new off the menu and loves it, there’s this way his eyes open just a little wider as the corners of his mouth turn up slightly while he thanks them.

⚙️ Or when he manages to figure out a scene he’s been struggling with, that sigh of relief while his friends congratulate him is all he needs to show his excitement.

⚙️ There’s also the times where Citron will jokingly call him a piece of junk with a soft smile on his face, and he can’t help but return it with a slight bow.

⚙️ Of course, the thing that makes him the most excited is spending time with you.

⚙️ When you approach him at the designated meeting spot for a date, it’s hard to stifle a giggle at the way you can almost see a tail wagging behind him, constant and slow.

⚙️ He’s like a German Shepard to me. You understand.

⚙️ The way he gently takes your hand to walk with you is slow, almost too slow, as if he’s trying to restrain himself from taking it too quickly. He wouldn’t, but he wants to be safe.

⚙️ He’ll walk a little faster, too, but restrain himself once more so you can keep up.

⚙️ GOD he’s so……. Yeah<3

⚙️ You make him soooooo happy it’s unreal.

⚙️ Like he’ll be walking around the dorms, only for Citron to be passing by with a giggle.

⚙️ “Guy, what is the smile for?”

⚙️ “Hm? I was smiling?”

⚙️ “Like a fool! What’s going on?”

⚙️ “I… don’t know. I was thinking about them again.”

⚙️ He is stupid with love what did you do to him.

🍡 I guess it’s no surprise to say that one of them is eating sweets with you, or showing off what he’s learned when it comes to making them.

🍡 He’s been learning a lot from Omi recently, and it’s always such a delight to see your eyes shine a little when you taste his cooking.

🍡 He may not be very good just yet, but he’s really doing his best, and it shows!

🍡 Maybe the cake he made last week was too sweet, or the cookies he had you try the week before were burnt, but it’s all a part of the process!

🍡 Bro relishes in your praise too btw. In case you didn’t know.

🍡 You tell him good job one time and he will be thinking about it for a month I promise you.

🍡 He’ll be lying in bed unable to sleep like “They told me I did a good job…”

🍡 He’s a ouppy. Sorry.

🍡 Okay moving on, he also loves loves loves when you two just sit in comfortable silence on the couch together. It’s so simple, but he cherishes those moments more than anything else in the world.

🍡 Bonus points if you’re leaning against him with your head on his shoulder while he reads over a script, munching away on some snack or another.

🍡 He drapes an arm over you as he starts muttering some of his lines, his low voice making his chest start to vibrate. You can feel it against your head, and it starts to soothe you just a little bit.

🍡 He’ll mark the line in pencil, noting how he wasn’t sure how he wanted to deliver it just yet, then go to grab a bit more of whatever he was eating.

🍡 No matter what he’s chosen that day, the second you’re lying against him, he’s grabbing extra to give to you.

🍡 Sometimes, this will happen super late at night, and you’ll fall asleep against him.

🍡 Thankfully, he’s super great to have around if you do. He’ll gently peel you off of him to readjust your position, and pick you up to carry you to one of your rooms. He’ll gingerly set you down on the bed, pushing your hair out of your face, almost afraid he’d break you.

🍡 Depending on the night, he might lay with you, and send you to sleep with a quick kiss, even if it’s a little messy.

🍡 Yeah<3. He’s very very soft<3
