Hello hello!

I was rereading Choi Han’s indignity test for the thousandth time (I need more little rok soo pls I'm desperate) and the thing that catches my attention now is the clues.

It says food, warm home, clean clothes, and abundance of food for dinner.

Not thinking about any other clues the author did not show us (there was definitely so much more; we were robbed–) because that would drive me insane from what we know so far (there’s so much yet so little I wanna cry).

Anyway, some found it confusing how there were two notifications about ‘food’ and ‘abundance of food for dinner’ so now I want to word vomit about it.

There is a difference between having food to eat at all and being in front of so much food there’s no way you could eat it all.

Food in general was scarce for Kim Rok Soo at that age (well, at most of his ages but anyway) so imagine being Rok Soo and letting a stranger take you to their house because you want to avoid your own and instead of the things you probably had been expecting, this total stranger just. Started putting food in front of you and tells you to eat. To eat all you wanted. And he leaves for a bit and Rok Soo enjoys the cartoons you rarely get to watch because the TV makes too much noise and you don't want to be locked away in your cold and dark room again. But then the guy comes back with even more food and when you tell him you’re full he looks. Devastated. And the man hides the food he thought you didn’t see, which is so ridiculous you almost crack a smile, until he brings out an apple pie, and now you’re baffled.

And what really gets me is that Choi Han calls him a good boy. And little Rok Soo looks baffled. And there is no notification about comfort or praise covering up his indignity.

Which implies he is already at that stage where he does not know how to take compliments seriously and just assumes the person is either lying or stupid (which may track in his logic for this stranger that brought some random kid home and just started feeding him).

Or it implies that compliments and praise were never something Kim Rok Soo thought of wanting.

You can’t focus on wanting to be loved if your priority has to be finding a way to survive.

Which tears my heart into pieces because. This little baby, o my lord, I wish you could feel safe enough to want someone to say something nice about you, that you lived well enough to be concerned about people liking you. I wish he knew that there would be people who loved him, waiting for him in the future, and that he would not only feel lost forever. I wish he was living well enough to want to delve into his favorite books with open fervor, talking with others who were reading the same thing and discovering a new way to see a story. I wish he could feel safe enough to express himself in any other way that did not say ‘it does not matter much what happens anymore’ and ‘I don’t have the strength to go against all of this despair’. Because this little kid grows up to be so strong, in ways he can’t even see in himself because he’s too busy lifting other people up from groundless depths.

And he grows up to be something so big, and so warm that it’s such a happy miracle he survived the environments he lived through. And even after suffering so much loss and failure, he still can’t help caring for people. And he does it in a way he is conscious of, but he explains it away as a strategy to survive, and it’s his selfish way of finding solace in bright young futures he never had. Because he needs to justify it. Because simple kindness can be thrown away and mistrusted so easily, and it can vanish in an instant.

So he explains it away as a selfish action when he wishes to find solace in saving others.

In becoming the comfort to others he did not get.

In becoming the person he wanted to save him.

König is a big sucker for being the little spoon. ALWAYS König has never once not given you a hug when you were sad! König is a cute little rat and will buy you anything with the right motivation! He sometimes picks you up and carries you to bed when he is tired but you won't go to bed :( König once asked if he could paint your nails oml

When König isn't feeling good he will ask you to sing him a little song <3

Hats. hats hats hats! König will wear any little hat you give him like his life depended on it. Frog bucket hat? YES. Little crown because his name means king? OBVIOUSLY. tiny tophat? OML.

He may or may not have fractured one of your ribs when you offered for him to lay on you...

He 100% pets stray cats! He even fed one once.. That cat followed him home.. Her name if Muffin now..

Has the tendency to stare. But 90% of the time, he is lost off in space, thinking to himself.

Surprisingly good at blending into the shadows. It's something about the way he looms in the corner, all in black, while completely still (except for his hands).

Likes to hold a pillow at night. He would be mortified if anyone saw him doing this though.

Secretly wishes that, in another life, he could have been a carpenter. He's always loved the smell of wood and the feeling of a job well done. But he knows, deep down, it never could have been. He knows well enough that although he has the strength and the interest, it's not for who he has become. The man he is now will always be drawn back to smoke and gunfire, no matter how much he dreams..

Enjoys being outside, hearing nothing but the wind in the trees and grass. It clears his head and it’s a welcome contrast from gunfire.

ayo! Anon who talked about that One Filipino Character Viv made (I’ll probably stick around, so just call me Studio Anon to track things) here, just wanted to air out some thoughts of the writing/worldbuilding/designs Viv had made because shitting on them is funny and it isn’t like she’ll take any criticism on them.

Something I always asked or wondered is like… where even is HB? Like, location-wise. Sure it’s hell, but… they never really specified the ring? Is it pride? Is it some other ring? I remember the whole travel-by-elevator system but I don’t exactly remember where it takes place…. It’s pretty problematic if the viewers of a show forget where the supposed main place of the ‘plot’ is placed. Because of that, it’s hard to figure out where everything else is in my head- Loo Loo Land is in… Pride? So does that mean HB is in Pride? Why have hellborns in Pride if overpopulation is an issue there…?

Also, why are the citizens of hell limited to imps and hellhounds? And yes I know there’s like, succubi and whatever those shark demons were (and as a fish enthusiast, it’s pretty telling if even they forgot those types of demons existed in the world), but they’re basically just imp bit different(tm). It’d make sense if there were different kinds of oml but we never really see that, so that was a waste.

Like, if gluttony had a beehive aesthetic you’d expect to see some bug-imps or something, not just straight up imps (they’re probably the crew’s impsonas but come on, it’s pretty sad that it was just Imps and Dogs in hell- kinda puts a bad idea that dogs go to hell or something tbh.)

Don’t even get me started on the designs of the sins, like wow.

When you think of these big, scary embodiment of sin, you’d want them to be a little threatening… right?

Apparently not, in Viv’s mind.

Like yes, it’s fun showing off the sins having more than one personality than just their sin, but that’s literally all they are. They don’t act like their sin. You know that Viv excuse- they’re in hell. Let them be awful? It’s not hard.

Sucks that the only embodiment of sins we’ve sin are just: imp but white (Lucifer, also kinda Mammon), bird (Asmodeus), or furry (Beelzebub). I don’t expect any of the other sins to be any different, I just wish that they could be the embodiment of sin and be a good character (not good morally, but decently written, but I doubt that’d ever happen), not just written out to be a total asshole so the uwu-good-sins can be all nice and cute.

It’d be cool to have a Greed vs. Lust battle, both having strong feelings of attachment to something/someone but no. They talk out their silly stupid feelings, eugh.

(Do let me know if you’d want to hear more of these thoughts- I’m a writer and designer myself and I absolutely love trashing Viv’s work because I can do better because I learn stuff.)

Pretty sure I.M.P. headquarters are located on Pride, which is how sinners are able to access them. Apart from that, yeah, it's a clusterfuck and a half.

Secondly your idea about the IV fluids thing is SUCH a good vote!! This is soooooo good!!! I absolutely can see something like this for Cyno 👀👀 give that boy strep throat or something (cuz that virus can spread to the stomach too and cause vomiting/I used to get strep all the time and it’s truly a bitch) so he is sick and needs the er cuz the only way to get better is antibiotics!! So you HAVE to go to the doctor or it will just get worse. AND when strep- naturally talking fucking sucks. So he’s not even able to fully express himself he just has to suffer in silence ??? Like not actually ofc lol. idk if this is weird or not- but one of the weirdest memories from my strep adventures as a kid was getting strapped into the car at like 12am to go to urgent care, and I remember just bursting into tears. My dad i think? Was like already panicking and trying to get me to explain what’s wrong and I just was sobbing and said something like “I’m not supposed to BE here!!!!” 🤣

also the good thing with strep in my experience is that once the drugs are in your system you start feeling better fairly fast? It takes longer to actually recover but the difference in relief once you have something in your system fighting the infection is soooo big. BUT if you get it bad enough that you’re vomiting or even having diarrhea it can be tough to keep the meds down so sometimes you just get a fat shot instead.

That's such a good concept, oml! I usually avoid writing specific illnesses/naming the illnesses I'm writing for the sake of avoiding misrepresentation, (especially if it's something I haven't had myself. Which applies in this case, I have never had strep throat, so I'd be a little worried about writing it accurately!) but I still reallyyyy love this idea.

Tighnari's (gently) putting his foot down and saying "no, Cyno, we have to go see a doctor, I'm sorry, but this isn't something you can sleep off," and Cyno's just. desperately grabbing Tighnari's hands and shaking his head. He can barely speak so he's just looking at him with large, desperate eyes, holding Tighnari's hands and shaking his head. Poor Tighnari's heart is breaking into a thousand little pieces as he's forced to take Cyno anyway, knowing how much Cyno despises any medical settings and treatment, but he just has no other choice. Bonus points if Cyno gets worse because the mere prospect of having to see a doctor puts him under an enormous amount of stress.

Also I love that little story- XD Like I feel really sorry for poor little-you and I'm sorry you had to go through that at all, but that's so real, when you're at that level of sick. I wish I had a silly little story of my own to respond with, but I have very few childhood hospital memories that I actually remember, most of them happened when I was too young.

Well here is the tmg essentials playlist that I have crafted, which is an hour and a half long (also is the reason my pfp is John Green mountain goats And was mentioned in the playlist tags :])

And as for the top five? Hhh okay.. I want to get a good mix of times and feelings in there as well as try to cover the essential albums uhhh

1. This year | The Sunset Tree | 2005

This is an absolute classic and is great to scream in your head. It's about getting through this year if it kills you!! It's one of my most played songs of all time at this rate (I've streamed it 500+ times apparently??)

2. Get Famous | Getting Into Knives | 2020

I love this one, it's more jazzy than most of their songs and is just very fun. It's not what a lot of their music sounds like but it's a good time.

3. The Best Ever Death Metal Band Out of Denton | All Hail West Texas | 2002

I love this album in general, it is very acoustic and every song has its own narrative. This song is the first on the tracklist, and it's a good representative for a lot of their music especially in that time period.

4. Deuteronomy 2:10 | The Life of the World to Come | 2009

Be warned this song will make you fucking cry. Content warning for extinction and animal death. That's all I will say. This song changed my life... I've never been able to listen to this album all the way through cause it's one of their more emotionally heavy ones. By god are some of the songs profoundly sad. Good but devastating.

5. Amy aka Spent Gladiator 1 | Transcendental Youth | 2012

If you like No Children, I must recommend something near it in catharsis. And of course that's Spent Gladiator. This song is like if This Year had an older sister. It's about going through rough shit and thinking you're not gonna make it but you find every way you can to keep going.

You Were Cool is one of my favorites that they only perform live and haven't released a recording of. You can find videos of it on YouTube! I used one of the lines from it on my graduation cap.

If you do like these songs and want to get more into the mountain goats, I would recommend listening to either:

A Jordan lake sessions album, which are live session recordings they especially did during the height of the pandemic. The whole thing tracks over and has a lot of talking between songs and many of them have a different or more raw take on some of their more popular or personal favorites.

Any of their albums all the way through in order. My top recommendations for this are Tallahassee (which no children is on!), The sunset tree, all hail West Texas, bleed out, heretic pride, and transcendental youth. I do love many of the other albums but these ones are my favorites as a unit.

I know listening to the mountain goats at first can be really intimidating cause their discography is SO BIG (like more than 24 hrs worth of music big) but if you do then you end up with a lot of room to explore! I don't think I've even listened to every song they've made and I've been a fan for a good few years. Like mountain goats fans are super cool about that kind of thing (I know other music fan communities can be the opposite) cause they just love to share even a little love! I'm talking about her now shhh

- not to be the astrology bitch but the Aries rising energy in her 🥴 she definitely at least has Aries in her big three there's no way I would be this attracted to her otherwise

- she's wayy more ready for a relationship then Na Hwajin. Like, she's not actively looking for it, she's confident in herself and can admit her faults and call out others-please just date me ma'am I'll go to therapy for you

- She really looks up to Na Hwajin and this extends to relationships-she would have doubts of the relationship if Na disapproved of them. (To be honest idk if she'd ever get into a relationship that Na would disapprove of since he's mentioned he trusts her conviction multiple times. She's a great judge of character.)

- that being said if her s.o was insecure in the relationship she'd be quick to shut that shit down. If it were her strength they were insecure about she'd find it childish, but resign herself to reassuring them that she doesn't want an s.o that can protect her from baddies- she's been trained to do so from her special forces days. It doesn't make them any less capable themselves, surely if she chose them to be her s.o she saw something in them right?

- on that note, she's not in any rush to find a s.o. If she does find someone, it's someone who caught her eye-someone who continues to attract her with each passing day.

- If s.o knows Na, get ready for a hell of a lot of teasing. If they don't know him it's likely Lim is trying to avoid his teasing even for just a moment. Don't worry, she can't keep a secret to save her life. He's definitely gonna know about them.

- Shes kind of a think later, act first kind of girl. I think she'd like someone who really gives her a chance to sit back and take things in carefully, kind of like Na. Something to balance out the more firey side of her personality.

- So she'd more likely get with a guy then a girl (sad gay hours here 😭) it's not to say she wouldn't get with a girl, just that it would take a while to process her insecurity in her sexuality and her identity as a whole. The relationship would be rocky to begin with.

- would enjoy a sparring match with her s.o. She'll "go easy on you" and you'll still end up on the floor with your ass handed to you, but she makes it fun regardless.

- I think she'd do well with an s.o that doesn't take things too seriously, but has a strong moral compass. She prefers assertive ppl who know what they want, but she open to being the more dominant one in a relationship.

-If s.o is meek watch out. She's gonna tease the hell out of them. She usually dislikes ppl who are meek and mild mannered, since she associates them with inaction or a silent bystander to a lot of the violence she's seen, particularly in schools. But I think having a shy s.o would force her to realise that's not the case. Once she does, she's gonna be teasing the hell out of them. Their reactions are just too cute!

-not really one for pda. It depends on the relationship, tbh. If she's in a straight relo she'd be more open to it, otherwise it's very clear she's nervous as she holds your hand under the table. She'd give double time affection in private, though I think she'd also strive to work on her hesitance on showing her s.o off regardless of their gender. - I can see her love language being quality time or words of affirmation. She really listens to Na and same would go to s.o, if they give her a little reassurance it goes a long way. She knows when words are genuine and when they're false, and she wants nothing but the truth from them.

-I can also see her pulling her s.o away for little trips-to the grocery store or even out on dates, she just likes to be in s.o's presence. It refreshes her and leaves her ready to battle whatever new troublesome school she and Na will take on.
