rereading boba's reunion with taun we in legacy of the force and it's so fucking good. he's dying of a degenerative genetic disease due to his cloned DNA and holding her at blaster-point trying to get her to hand over the data that might lead him to a cure, and she's just so effortlessly, coldly indifferent. there's no anger or betrayal at the child she raised turning on her, nor any affection, horror, or pity for him and what's happening to him now. just cool scientific curiosity. how interesting that her subject hasn't turned out like she anticipated. how unexpected, that he doesn't retain any of the care for her that she'd seen in him as a child.

and boba's quiet, dawning horror of seeing taun we for what she truly is for the first time—not through the rose-tinted glasses of his childhood when he saw her as a friend and mentor, but as a consummate scientist who only ever saw him as a lab rat. who, even now that he's holding her at blasterpoint, demanding something that will save his life, still sees him as nothing more. this is the person who created him, who brought him up, and the narration tells us that, sometimes, that scares him.
