take a challenge chatting with @hwnminjun

tobias was bored. to say the least.

he didn’t have classes that day. was caught up on all his school work. and for one, didn’t actually feel like trying to track down the obscurus (despite it being something he knew needed to happen soon). but a man can take a break every once in a while right? even someone like toby liked to relax now and then.

although on the surface it might have seemed that was something he was doing a majority of the time, flocking from person to person like the social butterfly he was. always needing to be doing something and keeping himself entertained on the island. but it was as if, something was missing as of late. nothing really seemed to be keeping his attention as much as he’d have liked.

dare he say it, it was like he wanted a new hobby.

but what possibly could captivate the jujak’s interest that much that he would actually commit to it?

thinking about it by himself is a complete bore and tiresome especially when he’s just walking around campus aimlessly waiting for something to happen. and then he spots minjun and that thoughts are immediately replaced with seeing if minjun might have anything more interesting for toby to indulge himself in for the time being.

“minjun!” toby calls out before catching up to the baekho male. “mate, are you busy? anything interesting happen to you today?”

he’s really just dying for some good conversation at this point.

i genuinely don't care how good a piece of ai generated art or writing looks on the surface. i don't care if it emulates brush strokes and metaphor in a way indistinguishable from those created by a person.

it is not the product of thoughtful creation. it offers no insights into the creator's life or viewpoint. it has no connection to a moment in time or a place or an attitude. it has no perspective. it has no value.

it's empty, it's hollow, and it exists only to generate clicks (and by extension, ad revenue.)

it's just another revolting symptom of the disease that is late stage capitalism, and it fucking sucks.

some people are truly off their rocker and i don't want to attribute it solely to shit i see on twitter bc I've heard this irl a few times these past couple of weeks but i did see someone on twitter today questioning why Palestinians have children... why the fuck not? these children are the hope for a better future; they're the continuation of aeons old bloodlines; parents have a right to have kids even under apartheid. what your question suggests is nothing short of eugenics imho and truly completely disconnected from the humanity of Palestinians and their rights to full, dignified lives with choices and possibilities. like imagine being pro-choice until one of these choices is "can i have a child if my people are being ethnically cleansed". so long as there is life there is hope and that isn't just a trite little saying it's a way of existing and resisting.

Really fucked up that, when they’re young, Patrick and Art are SO tactile with each other, so comfortable sharing the same space. Art lets Patrick touch him and move him and physically overwhelm him and easily acquiesces to it, if not outright enjoys it.

Then in the present, they’ve been so far out of each other’s orbit for so long, held such animosity that when they have their moment alone in the sauna, Art physically recoils from Patrick’s close proximity! It’s so painful to watch because even as Patrick’s goading him, it’s so obvious he wants to be able to get back into Art’s space. But Art has erected all these walls around himself, he refuses to give Patrick an inch or even admit to missing how close they used to be!

AND THEN we see Art and Tashi later and he wants her to hold him, to be gentle with him, and just TOUCH him. Like, he does miss that kind of close physical contact! He either doesn’t know how to ask for it or is uncomfortable being that openly vulnerable. Worth noting that he pretty much always defers to Tashi in regard to initiating physical intimacy (with their first kiss, though he does state his desire, SHE has to be the one to make the first move). And it seems pretty obvious that Tashi herself isn’t comfortable providing that intimacy, whereas Patrick actively seeks to provide it (the hug/forehead kiss after their win together in the early years, dragging the stool closer to him).

Art has tried very hard to act like he doesn’t need physical affection and even though his discipline and devotion to Tashi has made him a stronger tennis player, it’s made him a hollow person, which, in turn, has kept him from becoming a GREAT tennis player.

All of this, of course, is why the ending hits so damn hard.

You know every single fandom ever has done the merman AU. There is a mountain of fanfiction and fanart out there for merman AUs. You think of a popular ship, I guarantee you there is merman AU fanworks of it.

OFMD just decided to bring the merman AU to canon for a hot moment. A bold move. A batshit crazy move. A fucking power move in my opinion. Anyone doubting this show was for fandom can no longer doubt it. Call it cringe or embarassing all you like, but I am so fucking impressed they did that. Amazing. 10/10 no notes. Sorry to any Kiwi's present but Rhys Darby makes for a very hunky merman too. They fully dedicated themselves to getting New Zealands funny uncle into a proper silicon merman tale, complete with pretty flowy fins and actual GLITTER and made him swim up to Taika Waititi underwater in a recreation of that scene from Splash. No one is doing it like them. I think the only way a show could top this is somehow bringing omegaverse to the silver screen... but that is perhaps a tad too far across the fandom/canon divide!

idk who needs to hear this but if you knit or crochet you do not need to stress about it all of the time. that defeats the purpose of having a hobby. yes sometimes i do projects that require learning new stitches and making several runs to the craft store and searching for a specific brand of yarn and counting stitches and recounting stitches. but i also have a blanket that i call my "idgaf blanket" and it's literally just a giant gloriously repetitive chain stitch blanket made of a conglomeration of whatever yarn i happen to have scraps of. my rules are no undoing for dropped stitches, no overthinking color patterns. for just this one project, i simply crochet it because i like the feeling of crocheting. sometimes i just need to work on my idgaf blanket and that's okay and when it's done i'm sure i'll appreciate it a lot more simply because it never gave me anxiety
