okay so; i think avery [from the inheritance games] will end up with grayson.
it’s quite common for the person in the “love triangle” to pick the person they met first. (i say love triangle lightly because authors usually misinterpret the meaning. because a love triangle is supposed to be a triangle, not two people loving the same person.) for example, in the vampire diaries, elena eventually chooses damon over stefan. and while the viewers thought stefan knew elena first, damon met her before her parents came to pick her up. (which led to their deaths.) another example of this is with twilight. bella met edward in january of 2005, and she met jacob in march of the same year; bella ends up with edward. (yet again, authors misinterpreting what a love triangle truly is.) the only two examples that i can think of that doesn’t follow this structure (person ends up with the love interest they met first) is the selection and the hunger games. despite the fact that both america and katniss knew aspen and gale as children, they ended up choosing the other guy.
anyways… i just think avery and grayson have better chemistry than jameson and avery. plus jameson has been a flat out dick, and i really don’t like him. at all.
also, it’s interesting how gale hawthorne (hunger games) and grayson hawthorne (inheritance games) have the same initials and last name. perhaps inspiration struck jennifer lynn barnes? i don’t know why she would choose gale of all characters, though.
thank you for listening to my ted talk! i love reading and talking about my opinions on books, so if anyone would want to hear more of my thoughts, don’t hesitate to ask!

Pick you up
Tumblr media
Summary: Daddy comes to save the day.
Pairing: Biker!Ari Levinson x fem!Reader
Characters: Bucky Barnes, Steve Rogers
Warnings: angst, bitchy girls, heavy daddy kink, caregiver Ari, sexual harassment (not Ari), implied violence, hurt & comfort (kinda), fluff, comforting, protective Ari
Read the prequel here: Let you down
Pick you up masterlist
Tumblr media
“Daddy, please come pick me up. They are all so mean to me,” you sniff on the phone. “I don’t want to stay here. I thought this is going to be fun, but it’s not.”
The girls from your workplace watch you on the phone. They roll their eyes and huff.
“She calls her daddy to pick her up. We were right. She’s not mature enough for our little club. I don’t know what a girl like her wants in New York.”
You hang up and sigh. The plan to spend the weekend with the people you’re working with went down the drain the moment they started to talk low about your outfit, your make-up (or rather the lack of it), and the fact that you don’t want to talk about yourself with people you barely know.
Ignoring your nagging colleagues, you walk out of the living room to grab your bag and jacket. You will wait outside for your daddy to pick you up.
You exhale sharply when one of them follows you outside. “You didn’t have to call your daddy. How old are you, twelve?”
“Just leave me alone,” you shoulder your bag and grab the door handle. “I’ll be waiting outside. I want nothing to do with you and the others.”
Tumblr media
It doesn’t take more than ten minutes before you see his bike. Your heart flutters when your daddy brings the motorcycle to a complete stop. He plants both feet firmly on the ground, making you shiver as you stare at his long legs.
You wring your hands as he kicks the kickstand down with his left foot and leans the bike on it.
“Fuck, daddy,” you press your thighs together, adding pressure to your tingling clit.
Ari swings his right foot over the motorcycle to get off it. He takes off his helmet and grins when his eyes land on you.
Eyes glued to Ari; you swallow thickly as he shakes his head to tame his mane.
“That’s…her … daddy?” Your colleagues gathered outside to get a look at your father. Or so they thought. They didn’t know you called your daddy, not your father. “He looks too young for being her father.”
“You are telling me!” Suzanne, the leader of the little group harassing you sneers. “That guy is not her father.”
“He’s so tall and handsome,” Caroline says. “No wonder she didn’t want to play with one of the guys. She’s got a hunk at home.”
“A daddy,” Suzanne grunts. “I knew something is off with that bitch.”
While your colleagues watch you and Ari, he worriedly calls your name.
“Y/N, what happened,” Ari asks, furrowing his brows as you run toward him to bury your face in his chest. “Baby kitten. Do I need to break bones or faces?”
“They wanted to play truth or dare, and spin the bottle,” you begin. “I agreed, because why not?”
“Okay.” Ari hums. “Go ahead. Daddy is here now.”
“Uh-I didn’t know there will be guys too, I swear.” You feel Ari stiffen. A deep rumble emits from his chest, and you know, someone is in trouble. You only hope it isn’t you. “I didn’t want to spin the bottle anymore because they changed the rules.”
“What rules? Tell me about it, princess,” you relax and take a deep breath. Ari always makes you feel safe and calm.
“They said we need to choose truth or dare. I chose dare, and suddenly the guys from the company were there too. They wanted to play too and Suzanne said I must kiss one of them.”
“I’ll kill them,” he growls. No one touches you but him. “No one forces my girl to kiss them.”
“I refused and chose truth instead. I said that I cannot kiss someone else because I got my boyfriend at home. They laughed, but agreed,” You sniffle. “They wanted me to tell them about the last time we had sex. I refused and they made fun of me. Calling me an uptight virgin.”
“It’s alright, I’m here now. Even if you were a virgin, it wouldn’t be a reason to make fun of you. They are awful people,” Ari softly speaks to you. You’re already worked up and he doesn’t want to risk you starting to hyperventilate. “No one is going to hurt you.”
“That’s not all.” You whimper now. “The game continued. The guys joined us. After a few rounds, the bottle landed on me. One of them chose dare and they…they wanted me to…”
“Baby, what happened?”
“They wanted me to ride one of the guys’ thighs. I told them that I got a boyfriend and won’t cheat on him. At first, I thought it was a joke. But they tried to push me onto that guy. I cried and grabbed my phone.”
“And then you called me,” Ari concludes as you slowly nod against him. “Good girl. You knew daddy always comes to your aid. Let me just kill them for you.”
“Please don’t leave me alone. Please,” you sniffle. “I don’t want to be alone with them ever again.”
“Princess, come with me.” Ari takes your bag out of your hands. He wraps one arm around your shoulders to guide you away from your colleague’s house and toward the street.
“Where are we going…?” you gasp as you see the whole club waiting for you and Ari.
You forgot that they wanted to go for a ride. Guilt washes over you. It was Ari’s day off and he wanted to spend it with his friends. Now you messed this up too.
Steve, the boss of the club gets off his bike. He nods at Ari as your boyfriend points at you. “Steve will take care of you for a moment. You like Steve right? He’s a good man and will protect you. I’ll be right back.”
“Okay,” you whimper.
“I’ve got her, Ari. Do what you must do,” Steve’s features soften when you watch Ari leave your side. “He’ll be right back, Y/N. Don’t worry. Ari was out of his mind when he heard you cry on the phone.”
“Maybe we should help him?” Bucky, another member of the club asks. He sneaked around the area and heard every word. “I wouldn’t mind roughing those douchebags up. Break a bone or two.”
“Buck, that’s Ari’s job,” Steve warns. “If he needs our help, we will help. Give him a moment…”
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, at the house, Ari barks at the women harassing you. “My girl loves her job and won’t quit because of you. If you ever make her life harder or just look at her the wrong way, we all will pay you a visit.”
“We…we didn’t…” Suzanne stammers. She never got yelled at by a tall guy like Ari before and is close to wetting herself.
“I know what you did,” Ari snaps at her. “Who is the guy putting his hands on my girl? Who wanted to force her to ride his thigh?”
“Uh-it’s him!” The other men point at the man wanting you to ride him. “He said that he wants her before we started the game. We didn’t have anything to do with it. It was all Suzanne and him.”
“You—” Ari cracks his neck. “Well, then. Let me show you what happens when you harass a woman.”
Tumblr media
“Ari. Daddy,” you run toward Ari the moment you see him. “What happened?” You look at his bloody knuckles. “You’re hurt.”
“Did you give it to them good?” Bucky smirks. “I can help. Let me break a few bones.”
“Buck, stop. I know you are antsy since your girl left, but we’ve got no time to start a fight,” Steve grunts. “Let’s bring Y/N home. She had a rough day.”
Ari carefully guides you toward his bikes. He softly speaks your name and caresses your back. “I’ll bring you home now, princess.”
Tumblr media
After a short ride back home you are in Ari’s arms. He whispers soothing words and nuzzles his face in your neck.
You’re lying on a soft mattress, hidden under the pillowfort you and Ari built for days like these. Days in which the world gets too much for you.
“You’re safe with me, princess. Always.”
“I know,” you mumble sleepily. “My protector…”

Big Bad Wolf, Lloyd Hansen
Word Count:  1.5k
Warnings:  implied smut, soft dark Lloyd, implied cheating, dad's best friend, ruined marriage
Tumblr media
“Mr. Hansen?” you asked as you opened the door to the house.  A shiver ran down your spine when you didn’t hear an answer.  Your frown only deepened when you saw the house was more trashed than normal.  Making your way up the stairs, you stopped when you saw the door half-open, Lloyd laying in a pile of blankets on the floor, “Mr. Hansen?”
“Didn’t you hear, sweetpea?” he croaked, shooting you a look, “I’m the big bad wolf.  You shouldn’t be near me.”
You frowned, having heard a few of the comments that Suzanne spewed to some neighbors on the next street over when you were jogging a few weeks prior.  She claimed that Lloyd was a horrible husband, comparable only to the big bad wolf.  She called him a predator, saying that he chewed people up and spat them out.  She claimed that he took all of her best years and gave her nothing in return.
“Mr. Hansen…”
“Sweetheart, you’ve known me since I moved here and you’re nineteen…you can call me Lloyd…I’m not Mr. Hansen…”
“I call all of you that,” you reminded him gently, sitting down on the carpet in front of him, “Mr. Hansen.  Mr. Barnes.  Mr. Weiss.  Mr. Levinson.  Even Mr. Barber, and I’m dating Jacob.  Do you know how many times I’ve been told to call them by their first names?”
“It’s different.” He said simply.
“It’s not, Mr. Hansen.”
“You should leave, sweet pea,” he groaned, pushing himself to his other side.  You frowned and rubbed his back softly, “please, don’t touch me honey…”
“I’m going to get to work downstairs,” you sighed, removing your hand from him.  You pushed yourself up off the carpet and reached for the door, “I’ll be up in twenty minutes to do your laundry for you, Mr. Hansen…I’ll bring up some fresh sheets from the linen closet and strip the bed…”
“You don’t have to take care of me, pumpkin.”
“I’ll be back in twenty minutes, Mr. Hansen.”
You looked to the house that was directly across the circled drive from you.
Mr. Hansen stood at the door, his jaw clenched, and his face tear-stained, while his wife, Suzanne glared at you.  The door to the moving van slammed shut, and her glare seemed to penetrate your soul.
You frowned.
Suzanne Hansen had hated you with a passion ever since her and her husband Lloyd moved into your quaint little neighborhood nearly three years ago.  You didn’t know why she hated you, but it was the one sure thing you knew about the authoritative alpha female who worked for the CIA.
You got along with all the other wives in the neighborhood, but not her.  Then again, that was when they were all around.  Suzanne seemed to hate you with the most intense nature that you’d ever known, without a rhyme or reason.
The first to leave was your mother.  Just a few years after you’d moved into the neighborhood, and she’d succumbed to the curse.  Your older neighbor, Mr. Dunham told your parents when they first moved in that your little suburban slice of heaven was notorious for breaking up couples, but your parents didn’t listen to his warning.  And sure enough, when you were four, she left, running off with a financial advisor that moved her to Paris.
From there, you’d clung to Mrs. Levinson.  She was like your second mother, and you got along with her two daughters.  They were like your sisters.  You knew that they were never going to stay.  Your two best friends would tell you all the time that when their dad retired, they were planning on going ‘home’ to Israel, but when Ari retired, he said he wanted to stay in the states.  Mrs. Levinson agreed to disagree and asked for a divorce and went home.  You went from having Challah delivered to your doorstep on Thursday nights to sitting at a dining room table that was too large while Mr. Levinson and your dad burned more dinners than you could count.
Next came Mrs. Barnes.  She was one that you really hoped would break the curse.  She taught you about how to be independent, and how to never depend on a man.  She taught you how to cook, and even got you interested in running.  But the retired S.H.I.E.L.D agent broke the super soldier’s heart, running off with his best friend, Steve Rogers, making a third man present at your dining table a few times a week.
By the time you managed to befriend Laurie Barber you were becoming a pre-teen and finding your first love in Jacob Barber.  Laurie became the third instance of a mother figure towards you, giving you not only the birds and the bees talk, but also teaching you everything you needed to know about going from a child to a woman.  But when you were fourteen, she was out the door, taking Jacob with her to an apartment in the city that Andy footed the bill for.  It was two months after the divorce was finalized that Mr. Hansen had done some digging and found out that the apartment, he was footing the bill for had her assistant in it…Laurie had been cheating on Andy for years, and finally had the courage to leave him.
And then came Mrs. Weiss.  She was nice, she really was, but she was one that you gladly waited for the curse to claim.  She was always complaining about Mike, and how he needed to get his head out of the clouds and take on a real case instead of trying to fight for this one that dealt with needles.  He’d spent nearly all of his time on it over the past few years, and his partners were helping keep him afloat.  A week after she left, he won his case, and refused to take her back.
Which is what led you to today.  Suzanne had claimed that Lloyd was a horrible human being and was divorcing him.  Today was moving out day; something you were familiar with.  And your dad, well, he was best friends with all of the men.  Mike Weiss, an attorney, Andy Barber, the ADA, Bucky Barnes, super-soldier extraordinaire, Ari Levinson, retired mossadi agent, and Lloyd Hansen, a government contractor.  Each man, just as important as the last had found a bond in your little neighborhood.  And they all had one thing in common.
In some way or another their wives had left.
You watched as Lloyd went back into his house, not bothering to watch the van leave.
It was four days until you saw him again. And things had changed quicker than you could have ever imagined in just the twenty minutes it took to come back up to his door to make the bed.
“Well sweetheart, you wanted to be in bed with the big, bad wolf…” Lloyd purred huskily, staring down at you.  Your heart jumped up into your throat, making it hard to swallow as you felt his growing erection pressing against your hip, “your next words better be said carefully…because I do bite…”
You whimpered, your thighs clenching impossibly tight at the thought. You knew it was wrong.  You knew you shouldn’t have put yourself in this position.
Hell, your boyfriend had moved in with his dad and lived right next door to the house you were currently in.  Had Lloyd’s curtains been open, you knew for a fact you could see into Jacob’s room.
But none of that mattered.
You’d had a crush on Lloyd ever since you started cleaning his house weekly when you were sixteen.  Your heart fluttered as you looked into his lust-blown eyes.
He gave you a smile, one that showed every one of his pearly whites.  His hand caressed the column of your throat before settling at the base of your neck, “is this what you want, sweetheart?  You want the big bad wolf to eat you up?”
“God yes!”
The words had slipped out before you thought any better.  And his grip tightened enough to slow the oxygen from getting to your brain.  Your heart raced so loud; you could hear the blood pumping in your ears.
“Lloyd.”
His eyes fluttered closed, long lashes dancing along his flushed cheeks.  You felt your core clench around nothing, wishing that he’d already used the erection he’d been grinding against you since you started helping him make the bed.
“God, I love it when you say my name, princess,” he purred, leaning in until your lips were almost touching, “say it again, baby.”
“Lloyd.”
He growled, and his grip tightened just a little bit more.  You gasped against the kiss as he stole the air from your lungs.  And the only thing you could think of was how just a week ago, your life was entirely different.
Lloyd had been married.
Just as every other man on your block was.
But Suzanne Hansen succumbed to the same curse that every other wife did in your little neighborhood, leaving Mr. Hansen a divorcee with all the time in the world.    And you had never been more grateful than you were now as Lloyd’s throbbing cock grinded against your soaked shorts.

Tumblr handle: @/wilde-wanderer. He posts travel content and dog pics a lot, and there's a lot of crossover with his travel Instagram. He also is in the Oscar Wilde fandom for sure and posts a ton of Ben Barnes thirst traps (@belle-keys, thinking of you).
5 books he'd love, because he's a romance and fantasy lover like me (queer books are blue):
The Charm of Magpies seriously. It's got Wildean weird vibes and also is just genuinely an oddball series unlike any other.
Don't Want You Like a Best Friend by Emma Alban (this is NEW btw and incredibly good, an immediate favourite
By Any Other Name by Erin Cotter
The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty
The Carnivale of Curiousities by Aimee Gibbs
ALASTAIR
If he had Tumblr, I think his handle would be @/grumpycatcarstairs. But he'd post minimally and just let it sit and sit forever. Periodically, Thomas would remind him it exists. He'd just post aesthetic paintings and cPTSD content.
5 books he'd love, because he likes mysteries and philosophical works that make him think:
The Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo
The Scythe trilogy by Neal Shusterman
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The Sins of the Cities series by KJ Charles
Not really modern, but after his time. I think Maurice by EM Forster would hit him hard in the solar plexus.
THOMAS
His handle is @/thomas-the-tree. He's a pretty active Tumblrina and he posts a lot of his own content, mostly aesthetics and moodboards. Maybe some stimboards ala @caterpillarstims. He also posts a lot of positivity for people with mental illness.
5 books he'd love because he loves both action and comfort literature:
The Sum of All Kisses by Julia Quinn
Two Rogues Make a Right by Cat Sebastian
The Heartstopper comics by Alice Oseman
A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall
Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco
CORDELIA
I am of the strong belief that her handle would be @/kickitwithcordy and she'd have a sideblog for Cortana pics called @/kickitwithcortana. She and Alastair would also have a joint blog called @/kickitwiththecarstairs, but it's mostly on YouTube and they just have gossip videos. There's a full one where they roast Matthew's famous travel Insta.
5 books she'd love about kickass women:
Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust
A Stitch in Time by Kelley Armstrong
The Divine Rivals duology by Rebecca Ross
Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir
The Rhapsodic series by Laura Thalassa
James, of course, always reads them aloud to her even when they're not to his personal taste. <3
