Finished TLM! Probably one of the most surprising reads ever? I was sure I would enjoy it simply because it has all the elements I love (magic, time traveling, heist, mystery, romance) but I wasn’t expecting to be completely enamored and blown away? Like WOW. Believe me when I say this is probably one of the best things I’ve read in a while. Reading about old New York was such an experience and the atmosphere of the city sucked me in and never let me go. I enjoyed seeing the way people lived in that period and I love that we got to see the realistic way the theater, immigration and women’s issues were incorporated with the fantasy elements. The cast of characters (every single one of them actually) gave me conflicting emotions and left me guessing on who to really trust. Why isn’t there more fanart of them???!? I feel like Esta coming back to a future where this book no longer exist anymore and I’m the only one who remembers it. That’s the only excuse for the lack of hype! 😤

Day 8 - Paolo and Francesca
Tumblr media
Paolo and Francesca are possibly the most well-known characters in Dante’s Inferno. The are in the 2nd circle of Hell among the lustful souls. They are constantly buffeted about by the wind as they have lost all reason to passion.
Masterlist
Follow me
Francesca was the daughter of Guido da Polenta, lord of Ravenna. She was married in around 1275 to Gianciotto Malatesta, lord of Rimini who was lame, coarse and ugly.
It was a marriage of political convenience to seal the peace between the two states. Francesca then fell in love with Gianciotto’s younger brother, Paolo, but the lovers were found out and murdered by Gianciotto in 1285.
Francesca was also aunt to Guido Novello di Polenta who was Dante’s friend and host during Dante’s final years of exile at the end of his life.

Love books that are like: here’s this character, see, you love them! here’s all their hopes and dreams! look how in this one moment their hopes and dreams are dashed! watch them fall from grace and learn things about themselves they never knew.
I just love books where they take your emotions and run all over the spectrum with them

Hit The Spot by J Daniels
5 stars
audiobook
Tumblr media
These two  were a lot of sexy fun wrapped in insecurities (her) and hidden deep awareness  (him). Of course, it takes us through the book to find this all out. The path  that takes us there is littered with stops and starts, and a tonne of  denials, but that is their thing. I completely enjoyed the ride these two  took me on!

Humans are naturally kind and compassionate. Most of us would turn away from scenes of suffering or try to stop it if witnessed. If asked, most of us would say that we would never hurt another living being. We would never mutilate, confine, or kill.
Although we would never do it ourselves, and may even call ourselves an animal lover, we ask others to do it for us by the use of our money. Each time we pay for meat or dairy, we are in essence saying to those  industries “please make this animal suffer.” Because meat and dairy come from a place of fear, misery, and pain of other living beings.
Instead we experience cognitive dissonance. Dairy comes in packages and cartons of happy cows while meat does not look the abused animal it once was. This makes it easier to pay for them without making the connection to the cruelty to another living being.
Humans are naturally compassionate. Let’s make the connection between our naturally compassionate instincts and what we pay for.

♥️✨💕There’s nothing like using your witchy charms on men (or ladies if that’s what you’re into, but I would imagine attraction energies work a little differently)✨❤️‍🔥 Love is a very potent magic after all ♥️♥️♥️
Here’s a few witchy love tips to increase attraction and harness love energy⚡️❤️‍🔥✨
- Apply love moon water ♥️🌛🌝🌜🌹(lavender, roses, water, pink salt, charged with amethyst and rose quartz ) to your neck and arms and such
- Gaze into a mirror ♥️🪞🔮🌝before bed or in the bath (preferably a black scry mirror) and admire your features, believe you are beautiful inside and out
- Take a picture of your love interest✨ 📸♥️✨(preferably Polaroid) or something connected to them and place it on your shrine
- Bake/craft 🥧🧶♥️something for your interest: make with intention, possibly place secret sigils, preferably something unique to you
- Involve your love interest in your craft- ✨🫖 🪄♥️offer to read tarot or tea leaves, go on a date to somewhere witchy. Show care by offering a spell for their troubles.
- 👁 Switch between shyly avoiding their gaze, to intimate eye contact with bewitching intention
- 💎 If asked if you would like a gift, ask for a crystal (very charged with their admiration energy) (🌶🚨something kinky if the relationship is progressed)
- Be kind to all living beings 💕🦋🕷🪱🪳🐖🐈🍄🌱🧝🏻‍♀️👮🏻‍♂️👩🏻👩🏻‍🦰(the most attractive quality)
- 🌹 use lavender-rose oils on your body
- 🌶🚨SPICY ALERT 🌶 🚨 AVERT YOUR INNOCENT EYES - ✨💕self pleasure with intention
-💅🏻play hard to get sometimes
-💍wear charmed ✨ jewelry (I charge my moonstone necklace in moonlight)
-✨🌚🌝hang out at dusk/night: it’s more magical
🌹A personal attraction factor of mine is that I dress seductively but also modestly and mature. My style could be described as Dita von Teese meets Christine McConnell but more witchy and cottage-core inspired. But remember to be authentic to yourself. 💎 Using my witchy charms has immensely fed my love life ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
Also a cute lil thing to do is to type the accurate moon phase when texting goodnight ♥️🌑🌘🌗🌖🌕🌔🌓🌒♥️ good luck babes❤️‍🔥✨

The conundrum of tracking...
The conundrum of tracking…
I started out this year thinking I would track all of my DNFs. I had planned to keep track of how far I got into each book so I could then add that to my end of year pages tally… but that didn’t end up happening. I’m not a great reading tracker… I want to be, but I’m not. I rely heavily on Goodreads, mostly because my Kindle connects directly to my Goodreads account and tracks my kindle books.…

Confession of/from a book hoarder and a fanfic lover
I have not read ONE single book this year (well, if you can count halfway through of 'The Thursday Murder Club' (love it, but just got into a reading funk you know)) but, I have bought/downloaded around/almost 200/250 (no exaggeration) books until now?
'No Ragrets'
Although, I have read insane amounts of fanfiction. Like holy fuck insane amount of it, from faberry, to Aster and Ellie, to Namaari and Raya, to Avalance, to Supercorp, to Wayhaught, to hell even Wynhaught, to Clexa, to Maya and Carina, to Bechloe, to ... you get the idea.
So, my question is, that's ok, right? I mean Fanfiction is the only thing that gets me through most days...so, yay for that?

qotd: “‘Be glad of your human heart, Feyre. Pity those who don’t feel anything at all.’” — @sjmaas
-
𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
-
I really enjoyed this Beauty and the Beast retelling! Beauty and the Beast is already fantastical, but @sjmaas somehow found a way to make the story more complex and whimsical. The addition of the fae made the book really interesting and kept me engaged the whole time!
One aspect I appreciated was how vulnerable the main character, Feyre Archeron, was. I have noticed that a lot of authors tend to gravitate towards making their female heroines cold and unfeeling. That was not the case here. Feyre mourned for the animals and fae she killed, which just goes to show that it is okay to be vulnerable. We are all human beneath the rough exteriors we present.
The first 200 pages contained an excessive amount of world-building which gave me pause. However, once I made it past the 200 page mark, I was able to sit back and revel in the fast-paced, action-packed environment Under the Mountain.
-
Though I loved this book, I would like to acknowledge a recent criticism of @sjmaas and her work in hopes of others taking them into account before reading:
Zionism: Readers have located in past interviews that Maas took a birthright trip to Israel. These all expense paid trips ignore what has been done to Palestinians. Maas also stated that her grandmother is a member of the Israeli army. Though these interviews were conducted a while ago, she has not made any recent statements regarding the ethnic cleansing occurring in Palestine. For more on this, visit @bookish.you.should.know on instagram.

A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
At first sight, Ove is almost certainly the grumpiest man you will ever meet, a curmudgeon with staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People think him bitter, and he thinks himself surrounded by idiots. Ove’s well-ordered, solitary world gets a shake-up one November morning with the appearance of new neighbors, a chatty young couple and their two boisterous daughters, who…
