——————
(Y/n) wasn’t going to lie. Iida really got on his nerves. He’s always up his ass about sagging his pants down low, or running in the hallways. It’s not like it was his business. He was in class 1-B, for god sakes.
Everyone in 1-A knew him as that “1-B boy” who always liked fucking with Iida. And he did, it was fun to see him get all pissy and red when he unbuttoned his dress shirt to the point you could easily flash him if you tugged hard enough. Iida was pretty, but even more pretty when he’s flustered. He wasn’t going to deny the fluttery feeling in his chest when he sees an opportunity to interact with Iida.
Which is how (y/n) found himself smoking outside the UA dorms, sitting outside on the steps and staring up at the sky. He didn’t smoke much, only when he really needed to destress, but something felt compelling to just pull one out today.
He already heard the engine boosted footsteps hurling his way, a smile growing on his lips. Once the blue haired boy was in sight however, he wiped it off and replaced it with a neutral expression.
“You shouldn’t be smoking on school property, (L/n)-kun!”
“Mm? And you shouldn’t be on 1-Bs dorms. Wait til Vlad or Monoma finds out.”
Iida stumbled back, biting back the scowl forming on his face. He took the cigarette out from (y/n’s) fingers, and stomped on it. (Y/n) clicked his tongue as Iida hiked his glasses up his nose further.
“Stop acting like such a ruffian!”
“Then go on a date with me.”
Iida choked on his own spit. He knew that (y/n) joked around a lot, but this was just excessive.
“(L-L/n), you shouldn’t joke about such intimate matters like that with someone you barely kn-“
“I’m not joking.” (Y/n) stood up from his step, and stood infront of the taller boy. “I’m dead serious.”
Iida opened his mouth, then closed it. “(L/n) it is highly inappropriate for two students, let alone boys, to go on a romantic outing! This is a place for learning!”
“How bout we make a promise then? A deal if you must.” (Y/n) seemed completely calm, but inside he was sweating like a clam. He had said it on impulse, and there was no going back. Either sell it till he declines or hell, he has a date.
“If you be my boyfriend and go out with me for one full day, I’ll stop acting like a ‘ruffian’ or something. I’ll follow the rules and whatnot.”
“B-boyf...” Iidas words got caught in his mouth. “W-WHY?”
“I’m not going to try anything...! It’s..it’s just for my own...reasons...! If...that makes sense...”
Iida ran a hand through his hair. Did (L/n), a delinquent, like-like him? A proper former man from the Iida family? He wasn’t romantically attracted to the shorter boy at all, but this was a good chance! He could finally be set on the right path if he agreed to be his significant other for one day! Easy enough!
Iida pushed up his glasses once more. “Fine. I will do it. But afterwards you better keep your end of the bargain.”
(Y/n) held the tiniest smile and extended his pinky. Iida looked at him confused, before hesitantly interlocking their fingers and shaking it.
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
“Gimme your number. I’ll text you the info later.” They exchanged phone numbers, and Iida bid him goodbye.
(Y/n) felt like he was on top of the world.
—————
“Oi Iida! Over here!” (Y/n) waved his arms around frantically, trying to get the boys attention. Iida spotted him, and made a beeline towards him. He gave a smile and bowed slightly.
“Good morning, (L/n)-kun.”
“Morning! Haha, I’m glad you came! I didn’t think you’d actually show...and you’re on time aswell! As expected of uptight iida.”
(Y/n) was in a pink, slightly oversized hoodie and black sweatpants. Iida was expecting him to be in full black, ripped clothing with skulls on it. He wasn’t expecting him to look so...soft? If you looked at him, you wouldn’t think he was the same person smoking on the steps of a prestigious school.
“Oh well, what time did you get here?”
Iida deadpanned. Even he wasn’t that extra. “Why...”
(Y/n) rubbed the back of his neck shyly and chuckled. “I was so happy I couldn’t wait, ahaha!”
(Y/n’s) probably smiled more times today then the whole time he’s been enrolled into UA. It was an odd sight, but Iida felt a sort of proudness that he was probably the only one who got to see this side of him. He glanced at his face one more time, this time, looking at his red eyes and cheeks.
“...are your eyes swollen..?”
“Oh I...I couldn’t sleep...”
(Y/n) awkwardly chuckled for the 100th time that morning. Iida was about to go on a tangent about how sleep is important to you, but (y/n) suddenly grabbed his wrist, and pulled him forwards. He was practically dragging the poor boy.
“Is there anything specific you wanna do, Iida?” (Y/n) mused, looking around the plaza.
Iida shrugged.
“No, not really. Today’s more of your day, so I’m fine with anything.”
A bright red painted itself onto (y/n’s) cheeks, as he turned back around to hide it. It was usually iida getting all red and flustered, (y/n) wasn’t used to it. Still, it felt kinda nice.
“Awesome dude!”
(Y/n) went on rambling about places they could go to or eat at, but Iidas ears drowned out the noice as he looked at his smiling face. He didn’t know someone so...rude, could look so sweet. (Y/n) tugged at Iidas shoulder.
“...though I suppose, we could just go to a field and train, right?”
—————
(Y/n) got back up to his feet for the 5th time, and charged at Iida. He knew he couldn’t beat him with speed, so he’d have to rely on his quirk as much as he could. They were sparring in a little patch of grass near a small clearing, with a big tree providing the two boys shade. Iida swerved out of the way, making the smaller boy tumble onto the ground face first.
“Ah! (Y/n)! Are you okay?”
Iida rushed to the boys side and tangled his fingers in his hair. “It’s a little swollen but it’s not bleedi...(L/n)-kun...?”
(Y/n) hid his blush with the back of his hands and tensed up. “You..called me...(y/n)...dude..”
It was Iidas turn to tense up. His glasses fogged up as he swung his arms around madly. “IM TERRIBLY SORRY! IT WAS AN ACCIDENT, I SWEAR! IJUSTGOTWORRIEDANDSAIDITONACCIDEN-“
“Dude it’s fine! I-I dont mind..!” (Y/n) jabbed him lightly on the chest.
“L-let me treat you to some food! As apology for your head I mean!” Iida stood up, pulling (y/n) to his feet aswell.
—————
(Y/n) was rambling on nervously again, with chopsticks resting nimbly between his fingers. Iida couldn’t help but gaze at his face. His eyes were softer than he expected, softer than the mockingly hardened eyes he pointed like a sword towards people at UA. His gentle clad smile could raise the heavens, with one crinkle near his left eye and a dimple dangerously close to the corner of his mouth. He had unusually long eyelashes for a guy, but it made him look even more pretty for a bad boy.
“Why are you a delinquent at school when you’re such a sweet and funny person?” The words dripped out of Iidas mouth unconsciously, quickly covering his mouth too late.
(Y/n) flushed bright red, squeezing his chopsticks a little too tightly. “W-well...I don’t know. It’s not like I’m doing it on purpose. People just think I am because i don’t like socializing with everyone I meet? Like-id rather hang out with someone I know and like than go out of my my way to befriend all of class B, y’know? Does that make sense? Ahaha sorry I’m rambling again. I don’t get to talk much with my few friends. And they’ve pretty much heard everything I have to say so it’s refreshingtotalktoa-“
Iida cut him off before he talked his tongue off. “If you don’t talk to people you don’t know well, then why are you talking to me so openly?”
“Because I like you.”
(Y/n) said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world. He wasn’t tripping over his words, or laughing nervously. He looked at Iida and said it like saying “the sky is blue” with so much certainty, it made a knot tighten in iidas throat.
Iidas question was, why though? Why did his heart thump along the buttery smooth rhythm of (y/n’s) voice? Why did his head reel every time he saw (y/n’s) eyes light up talking about something he found interesting? Why was he at such a loss for words when his gaze fell on him so attentively?
Iida cleared his throat. Maybe he was just excited to have a new friend. He didn’t see him in a romantic light! How could he? He’s just worked up on the fact that this hardass delinquent boy wasn’t who he thought he was.
“Shall we go, then?”
————
The date went by like a dream. Technically it wasn’t over yet, as the promise was for a full “day”, but window shopping and dicking around while Iida chops aggressively really tires you out. They both ended the day by sparring at the same clearing, before taking refuge on a bus stop bench. The sun was completely gone. Leaving behind the pasty purple and blue sky, washing over and killing the clouds.
“Ahhh, time flies by so fast! Damn, well, the days still not yet over soooo.”
“Yes, yes I know.” Iida chuckled. He thought he was going to have to bear through this day, but it was actually quite splendid. He definitely feels like he’s made a new friend.
“Well, is there anything you wish to do before the day is over?”
“Yeah um, so,” (y/n) cast his eyes down, fiddling with his fingers. “C-can we hold hands..?”
Iida wordlessly set his hand on top of (y/n’s) smaller one, waiting as he interlocked their fingers together. His hand was warm, way warmer than (y/n) was expected. He didn’t know, Iida seemed like a cold hands guy.
They sat quietly under the ambient streetlight, occasionally rubbing a thumb over the others hand, feeling it’s warmth and staring off into the distance. Iida didn’t notice his eyes drooping lower and lower until they were finally closed.
Iida let his thoughts roam. It was something he did when he was going to bed, or simply just resting his eyes for a bit. He thought of his family, what he would do for class on Monday, and finally, (y/n). It was the most prominent thing on his mind, and not because he was unconsciously resting his head on his shoulder, softly but firmly gripping the warm hand underneath his own.
The idea of (y/n) so soft and vulnerable in front of anyone else didn’t sit right with him. He wanted that sweet, kind side all to himself. It was selfish, and even wrong if he thought about it. (Y/n) was so sweet and respectable during this “date” of theirs. Perfect manners for when inside the classroom. If anything, he should be more than glad to have the world share this side of him.
So why was he feeling this way?
He felt a shoulder nudge from under his head, before a hand started vigorously poking at his cheek. He initially ignored it, but once he registered the current situation he jerked up and
“Iida. Iida wake up. It’s 11:40. We should be heading back before midnight. A-at least I want to so we can um...we can still technically legally hold hands by promise-“
Iida rubbed at his eyes in embarrassment. “My sincerest apologies for falling asleep! It was not my intention-“
”oh no it’s all good! I-I kinda fell asleep too. It’s been like...2 hours.”
Iida checked his watch. (Y/n) was right. 11:45 pm. He knocked his glasses up higher on the bridge of his nose and stood up. He extended a hand to (y/n) who tiredly accepted it and pulled himself off the bench.
They spedwalked towards the train station to catch a train back to UA, when (y/n) tugged on his sleeve, halting temporarily.
“Iida.”
Iida turned around with a hum. (Y/n) kept his eyes fixated on the ground, but held on to the sleeve of Iidas jacket like a lifeline.
“Today...is almost over.”
“Yes, um, it’s about 11:57 so we should hurry back-“
“Before the day officially ends,...can you kiss me?”
Iida focused on (y/n’s) downcast face. It wasn’t an expression of nervousness or any sort of flustered emotion. Instead it held a look of unreadable shame.
“If you do, then I would have no regrets. My feelings for you will also end here. I’ll try my best to end it. My feelings grow stronger for you everyday when we bicker or when I simply just see you, so I want to end this with a grand fina-“
“I refuse.”
(Y/n) looked up. Iida glasses glared white, preventing him from seeing his cerulean eyes. But he got his answer from the frown Iida was sporting on his face. Even he could agree, it was a silly request, but he couldn’t help by feeling just a tad bit hurt by how quickly he was shut down.
“I understand.”
(Y/n) averted his eyes, flushing with embarrassment. He scanned the area for something other than Iida to look at, before his eyes landed on the parks clock.
12 am.
Midnight.
The date was officially over.
(Y/n) was quick to let go of the sleeve he’d been clutching for a while now. “A-ah! The day has ended. The dates over.”
He stepped back and ducked his head into a 90 degree bow. “Thank you so so much for coming with me today.”
“I’m really happy.”
His expression betrayed his words. If there was one word to describe it, Iida would say it looked dead. Hollow, even. It looked hollow, like the sinking feeling harboring itself in his chest. He knocked against his ribcage multiple times to shake the achy feeling in his chest, but it never went away.
“Well, let’s head back now. It’s late.”
(Y/n) silently walked past Iida. It wasn’t until seeing his watery face drenched in silent hot tears walk by that Iida realized,
He was in love with (L/n) (Y/n).
He was in love with the sweet delinquent boy who smokes and sits on desks, but also has the most hypnotizing laugh. He was in love with the boy who wore saggy pants to school, but also wore an oversized pink hoodie that made Iida reluctantly imagine him wearing one of his own jackets. Oh, how cute he would look.
He was hopelessly, graciously, entirely in love with (L/n) (Y/n).
Iida ran up to (y/n), who had walked past him and kept going with the assumption that he was behind him. His breath crystallized in the form of fog when he ran, faster than he ever did without using his engines. There wasn’t enough time to hike the fabric of his pants up, and he’d rather not burn them to a crisp with the steam from his engine.
“(L-L/n)!”
He wasn’t sure if he heard him. He was still a great length away.
“(L/n)!”
He was closer now. Close enough for him to hear. He was either lost in his thoughts or outright ignoring him.
“(Y/N)!”
The boy whipped his head around so fast, his tears flung into the cold air and landed beside him on the ground. Iida didn’t think far ahead as to brace for landing, choosing instead to glomp (y/n) into a soul crushing hug. Though, it was more of a tackle with the the way they both tumbled over and hit the ground with a thud.
(Y/n) was able to soften the blow with his quirk, but the impact of Iida landing on his chest still knocked the wind out of him. He was waiting for Iida to start swinging his hands and start apologizing profusely, but instead got pulled up to his knees and encased in a more gentle hug.
He was buried in the crook of Iida neck, who in return nuzzled himself into (y/n’s) hair. They stood, or rather kneeled, in a stiff silence, rocking back and forth ever so gently.
“Sorry.”
“Wah! Don’t apologize! You did nothing wrong, you had the full right to deny my request-“
“No, not for that.” Iida untangled himself from the warmth of (y/n’s) body to look at him seriously. “I’m sorry for breaking our promise. Our deal.”
(Y/n) wiped his stray tears away, all bitterness turning itself into lighthearted confusion. “But you didnt-“
(Y/n’s) words fizzled out in his throat when a pair of lips shut him up. His eyes fluttered closed as he wrapped his arms shakily around Iidas neck, drawing him closer than he already his. After what seemed like forever, Iida suddenly jumped back with fogged up glasses and heavy blush on his face.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I wasn’t thinking! Forgive me!”
“You know, all you’ve done was apologize all day. Is this what you normally do in class?”
“NO!” Iida fell back on his ass, a yelp escaping from his throat. (Y/n) chuckled ironically, pushing himself up to his feet and extending a hand towards the blue haired boy.
“I still don’t see how you broke our deal.”
Iida dusted himself off and adjusted his glasses. “Well-listen I-“ For once in his life, he was at a loss for words.
“I...want to e-extent it. O-Our date, I mean.”
Iida stood rigid as a board as (y/n) blinked.
“Wait-so like, you’ll go out with me tomorrow?”
“Yeah.”
“And the day after that.”
“Yes I suppose so.”
“A-and how bout a week from now-“
Iida grabbed (y/n’s) shoulders and shook him roughly. And by rough, I mean rough. This boy has enough beef to throw (y/n) into the sun.
“I-I WANT TO GO OUT WITH YOU FOREVER! I WANT YOU TO BE MY BOYFRIEND! I...I WANT TO BE YOUR BOYFRIEND! I WANT YOUR KINDNESS AND SWEETNESS ALL TO MYSELF! SO BE IT YOU’RE UNINTENTIONALLY A NEGLIGENT BOY AT SCHOOL! I WANT THIS SPECIAL SIDE OF YOU RESERVED FOR MYSELF! IVE NEVER BEEN SELFISH IN MY WHOLE LIFE SO SURELY THIS IS FINE! I WANT TO BE SELFISH! I WANT TO HOLD YOU IN MY ARMS MORE! I WANT TO GO ON SOME MORE DATES WITH YOU! (Y/N)-KUN I LOVE YOU!”
Iida has never considered himself selfish. He wasn’t the type to want something all to himself. If his friends wanted to be friends with someone he disapproved of, so be it. If he bought food but a fellow classmate was starving, he’d be eating only half as his classmate would be happily munching on their portion. If it was reasonable, he’d be willing to give up anything. It was the right thing to do.
Surely all of those good deeds would permit him to be selfish just this once. He’d never known the feeling of wanting something so bad to the point you felt like you were boiling. Of wanting no one else to have someone look at them the same way they looked at him. And how utterly satisfying it felt to have someone to claim as your own. Just this once couldn’t hurt anyone.
And by god, the impossibly wide smile (y/n) held was one thousand percent worth it.
————
“Halt! No running in the hallways, (L/n)-Kun!”
(Y/n) slowed down to a stop and sighed. “Dude, get off my dick.”
“Still pestering (L/n) huh? As expected of Iida!” Mina and Uraraka giggled, as they both disappeared inside the 1-A classroom. The hallway was empty now, making both Iida and (y/n) relax. (Y/n’s) pissed off expression softened, a smile now growing on his face. Iida swears it’s like talking to two different people. It’s kind of scary.
“Good morning, Tenya-Chan~”
“Uh-uh. Don’t ‘Tenya-Chan’ me. You know the rules. You owe me a kiss for breaking a rule. Gimme.”
Iida made grabby hands at (y/n), puckering his lips jokingly. God, he didn’t want to admit it but (y/n’s) sense of humor was rubbing off on him.
(Y/n) snorted at his boyfriends antics, pressing a gentle kiss onto his mouth. “Well-I gotta go, bye bye, Tenya! See you later. Call me, you sexy lamppost.”
(Y/n) timpered off to his classroom, his bad boy attitude returning once he stepped inside. Iida stood there, in utter confusion, before turning around and walking inside his own class.
“Ne ne, Iida, I’ve noticed you’re kinda like...less strict with that 1-B baddie. What’s up?”
Mina followed behind Iida with a curious, shit eating smile on her face.
“Ah. We...became good friends. He’s not as bad as I thought, I suppose.”
Mina looked at Iida unconvinced.
“You know, I saw you and bad boy kissing out there. My god. Iida. You gay liar.”
Iida, along with probably everyone else in class 1-A, collectively choked on air.

Tumblr media
Persistent fratboys at parties are the absolute worst. Already early into the night, you find yourself unable to shake off the latest leech in all his snapback and rayban glory. Why is it that they never back off until you’re forced to lie about a significant other? If you’re lucky, they’ll stop there. It’s quite stupid how they’ll let you go only if you suddenly have a boyfriend, rather than simply understanding that you aren’t interested. Perhaps, they’re too scared to confront how undesirable they actually are.
Literally, nobody wants someone who owns salmon shorts and more button up shirts with palm trees than necessary. Never mind the fact that you’ve seen this guy participate in more forties at four than actually attend his classes sober if he even makes it to your shared A.I. ethics lecture at eight in the morning. And he’s wearing those god awful sperry boat shoes with no socks. Inwardly, you shiver.
Eyes flitting around, you desperately try to see if you can find any one of your friends nearby who can take you out of your misery, but Yeji and Yerim are already mixed in the drunken dancing crowd, and you can’t find Donghyuck or Jeno anywhere. Renjun had been standing with you prior, but he already went home a few minutes ago because he had midterms early tomorrow morning. However, perhaps Lady Luck understands your woes because you spot your best friend coming out of the kitchen.
You quickly grab his arm, pulling Jaemin over. “Sorry, I’m here with him already.”
“This is your boyfriend?” the guy asks skeptically, unabashedly staring at your friend in question.
“Yep. Yes, that’s him. My boyfriend. Love of my life. My other half. His name is Jaemin.”
Jaemin turns to look at you, somewhat confused. You try to send some sort of telepathic message to him, and to your relief, it seems that he understands when you shoot him a look of mixed panic and desperation.
“Yeah, that’s me. I’m the boyfriend. The super significant other.” He reconfirms your answer and returns the male’s stare, giving him an enthusiastic thumbs up.
Great. Nothing says “I love you” more than a common hand signal found on YouTube videos. Maybe you should tell fratboy to hit the subscribe button, too. Subscribe to see more daily mishaps in the life of Y/N and watch as she digs an even deeper hole for herself.
The boy scoffs, crossing his arms across his chest, as he shakes his head in disbelief. You are temporarily distracted, almost impressed even, at how his styled hair doesn’t even move. You really need to know where he gets his hair products.
“Really? It doesn’t seem like it.”
Slipping his arm around your waist smoothly, Jaemin tugs you closer, and you freeze, pressed up snugly against his side. You really didn’t think this one through. Swallowing hard, you force your body to relax. It’s no big deal, it’s not like you’ve been harboring a crush on your best friend for months and have been trying to get over him for the sake of friendship.
“I don’t know what to tell you, but I’ve been in love with her ever since she fell asleep on me in our macroeconomics class.”
You smile sheepishly as you remember your first meeting, pretending that his words didn’t affect your heart as much as it actually did whilst simultaneously thanking the stars that he was always a quick thinker. His lips quirk up in the corners into that sweet smile you always adore before he presses a tender kiss to your temple that has you going dizzy. Your cheeks warm up as you duck your head, attempting to hide the bashful expression on your face.
“She had on this pale blue fluffy sweater, and she reminded me of a cute baby blue jay. She had a green notebook decorated with corgi stickers and always took really neat notes with this pen that had a flower chain attached to the top and had the prettiest handwriting. I remember thinking to myself, I better take good notes even though I never took notes before, just so I could give them to her as an excuse to talk to her afterwards.”
He absentmindedly draws circles on your hip, making you even more flustered not only from his actions, but also shocked that he remembers all of that even down to the outfit you were wearing. Heck, you didn’t even remember what you wore that day. He gazes at you, smiling fondly, and your breath hitches in your throat. His eyes look so sincere, sparkling under the harsh strobe lights, and if you didn’t know any better, you really thought he may have loved you back. A dull ache starts to form in your chest at that silly daydream. “She looked really cute, leaning against my shoulder like that, and even her snoring was adorable.”
You gasp at that, looking at him indignantly. “I don’t snore!”
“You’re right, I’m sorry, angel. Forgive me?”
He pauses and leans down, his lips millimeters away from yours, before hesitating and lingering there, so close yet so far away. Your heart nearly skips a beat from how naturally the sweet term of endearment slips from his lips and from the close proximity between you and him. From the corner of your eye, you can still see that fratboy standing there. You had almost forgotten he even existed: the sole, annoying cause of your current predicament. To seal the deal and perhaps for a little bit of a selfish reason, you lean forward, closing the distance and grazing your lips against his.
Your hands are on his chest, nervously tugging on the lapels of his jacket, and his are placed on your waist, gently tugging you impossibly closer. You’re quite certain Jaemin can feel how fast your heart is beating with how tight your bodies are now pressed together, but that’s the least of your worries right now. The only thoughts that pop up in your mind is that one, his lips are slightly chapped, yet incredibly soft; two, he’s a very good kisser; and three, mission: “how to get over having a crush on your best friend” is a complete and utter failure.
When you reluctantly pull away from him, his nose nudges yours softly, and your eyes flutter open. He is looking at you with parted lips, hazy eyes, and an indiscernible gaze that causes you to feel a whole colony of butterflies in your stomach. Any words that had come to mind have now flown out the window, and you can’t tear your eyes away from the radiant boy in front of you.
“Maybe we should do that again. Just in case, you know? To really send a message to that douche,” he mutters quietly, his eyes searching yours for confirmation. You give him an almost imperceptible nod, relenting to your heart this time instead of your mind.
It feels as if it’s simply the two of you standing there, the rest of your surroundings fading away and the music slowing down in the background. You look up at him from under your lashes, eyes fluttering close once more. Jaemin presses his mouth against yours firmly this time, with certainty, almost as if he meant it, as if his lips are made solely for kissing yours. And in that moment, you truly believe that he’s in love with you.
You are dazed, absolutely starstruck, until the two of you break apart, until you remember why this all came to be, and your heart comes crashing back to earth. Those seven minutes in heaven were utterly heavenly in your little bubble of make-believe universe with only you and him. You almost don’t want to open your eyes, but you do, and you find yourself staring back at him.
And just as you’ve always known, Jaemin looks absolutely breath taking, impossibly ethereal, and one hundred percent devastatingly heart wrenching: a modern day Adonis in the flesh. He gives you a shy smile, pretty eyes glimmering as if he stole from the night sky himself. You’re so close that you can count every single long dark lash framing his starry eyes and feel the warmth radiating from his blushing cheeks. His lips are red and slightly swollen, and you feel as if you had just ruined a masterpiece from the Louvre.
Your cherry lip gloss has been smudged onto his lips, and you reach out to carefully wipe it off. He gently catches your hand when you move it away and intertwines his fingers with yours. Your breath hitches in your throat once more, and you admire the way your hand fits perfectly in his for a few stolen moments until the dream is shattered once more and you’re pulled back to reality.
“Thanks, Jaemin. He’s gone now, so you don’t have to pretend to be in love with me anymore,” you mumble softly, slowly pulling your hand away and giving him an apologetic smile.
He reaches out to gently brush his finger tips against the apples of your cheeks before delicately tucking a stray strand of your hair behind your ear. When you finally dare to meet his eyes, Jaemin is gazing at you with the most tender expression imaginable.
“Who says I was pretending?”

kitty | hitoshi shinso
Tumblr media
word count: 2.8k
genre: fluff with the tiniest bit of angst
strangers to lovers!
warnings: mentions of a family member’s death
quirk: the ability to manipulate the weather
hitoshi shinso was on his way back to his dorm when it started to sprinkle. "just my luck." he grumbled.
he was nearing the 1-b dorm until he heard a soft whine coming from nearby. curiosity got the best of him and the indigo haired boy drifted towards the sound.
the boy ended up walking near a tree and found a small gray-white kitten whining for its owner. "what are you doing all by yourself sweetie?" he asked as he neared the small animal.
shinso slowly stuck out his hand for the kitten to smell. the kitten slowly crept her way towards the boy and he picked her up carefully.
"suki!" you cried out, the light rain shower not helping you look for your lost kitten. "suki!"
the indigo haired boy turned around with the cat in his arms which caught your attention right away.
"oh my god! there you are!" you ran towards the boy.
as you came closer, shinso recognized you from the sports festival. during the school's festival you made it quite far into the one on one fighting tournament you survived all the way to the third round, defeating tokoyami. a nice combination of tornadoes and lighting worked well in order to defeat your fellow classmate. unfortunately, you had to leave after that fight due to personal reasons so you truly didn't know where you stood among your classmates.
"is this your cat?" shinso asked in a tired voice.
"yes, i'm so sorry you had to stand here in the rain."  you rambled on. "suki, you naughty girl."
hitoshi didn't know how to deal with your blabbering so he stopped you short, "it's fine, i like cats anyways."
"really?" you asked, your mood brightening instantly.
the boy nodded as he handed over your kitten. he turned around to leave but you stopped him.
"excuse me, what's your name?"
"hitoshi shinso."
"nice to you meet you, shinso. i'm y/n." you introduced yourself.
"see you around, y/n." he said suddenly.
"oh bye! and thank you for finding my cat!" you yelled after him.
as you walked away with your cat snug in your arms you whispered to her, "he's an interesting one, isn't he suki?"
your cat meowed in response.
you nodded along, "that's what i was thinking too."
----------
not even a couple days later your cat escaped your dorm again
"for fuck's sake." you cried out once you noticed your room was empty.
you quickly rushed out of the complex to see a familiar looking purple haired boy nearby.
"suki?" you yelled, once you came close to him.
shinso was sitting under a tree with your cat resting in his lap.
"oh my god, i'm so sorry again." you said, flustered. you thought the boy probably assumed you were a shitty ass owner who couldn't take care of her cat.
"it's ok." he reassured. "i think she likes me."
you chuckled, "i guess so."
you sat down near the boy since you cat was sound asleep in the boy's lap and didn't want to wake her up at the moment.
"so shinso, what class are you in?" you asked, wanting to start a conversation.
he looked up at you surprised that you even wanted to talk to him. "uh, general studies."
"really, what's your quirk?" more questions were forming in your head now.
"i can brainwash people." he answered flaty.
"that's fucking cool." your eyes sparkled at the boy.
hitoshi looked at you with another surprise look. many people assumed he was some evil person because of his quirk and the dark circles under his eyes. it had been awhile since someone marveled at his power with awe and not cower away.
"how about you?" he asked, even though he already knew the answer.
"i can manipulate the weather." you explained, "if i get really moody though, i can change it without realizing. sometimes people tell me i changed the weather in the slightest bit but i can never tell unless it's drastic."
shinso nodded his head, taking in all the information.
"anyways, do you pour milk before the cereal?" you asked out the blue.
the boy shot a weird expression at you. well that was quite unexpected. just like the weather, i guess. he thought to himself.
you saw the look on his face and began to defend yourself, "hey don't give me that look. i know for a fact that you don't want to talk about school or some dumb shit."
"that's fair." shinso agreed. "i put the milk in after duh."
"oh you fucking normy." you huffed and leaned back on your hands for support.
"what? you put the milk first?" the purple haired boy asked, offended.
"uh, yeah." you replied as if the answer was obvious.
"what the fuck are you on?" he asked with a serious tone.
you laughed at him, "nah, i'm fucking with you. whoever does that deserves the death penalty."
"jesus christ, just because of milk?" the boy questioned, genuinely concerned for your mental health.
"yeah." you simply answered.
compared to battle you and normal you, you were like two seperate people. battle you was intimidating as hell and normal you was a good student of course in class but outside you seemed insane to others.
the two of you talked for what seemed like hours until you realized that the sun was going down and your pile of homework wasn't going to do itself.
"see ya, shinso." you called to him as you cradled your cat in your arms.
"you know what, bless your heart suki. i think i found a keeper." you thanked your kitten as you gave her a nice head rub.
----------
you ended up seeing shinso a lot, thanks to your cat running away to see him basically. but you didn't mind at all. it was refreshing to talk to someone else outside of your class.
the two of you learned a lot about one another which was great since you gained another friend thanks to your sneaky cat. shinso could handle your random ass and you could crack down his cold wall.
shinso wouldn't say it out loud but he noticed that the sun seemed to appear whenever he saw her even on cloudy days. it was like you subconsciously drove away all the clouds when you saw him.
until recently, the weather seemed darker than usual. even when the two of you would talk, hitoshi noticed that you seemed to get quieter each day. everytime hitoshi tried to ask what was wrong you would brush it off and blame it on your schoolwork. it got to the point where the brainwashing boy started asking the hero course students about their workload and from what everyone was saying, their load was normal as usual.
confused and slightly hurt that you wouldn't tell him what was happening, shinso decided to check up on you one day. but it was raining cats and dogs on the quick walk to the class 1-a's dorm.
he didn't know why he cared so much about what was going on but it seemed like no one else was noticing your off behavior. shinso trudged through the rain with his umbrella until he unexpectedly bumped into you.
"y/n?" he asked once he saw that you had no umbrella and was carrying your cat's cage.
as you came closer he noticed that your mascara was running down your face and your eyes were red but he couldn't tell if it was because of the rain or something else. he immediately shielded the rain away from you with his umbrella, not really caring if he got soaked.
"shinso, i need you to take care of suki for me please." you pleaded.
"ok, i will but why?" the puzzled boy asked you. he was starting to feel even more concerned for your wellbeing.
"something came up with my family and i have to leave school for a couple of days. i promise to explain later." you handed him the cage and quickly explained how to take care of your sneaky kitten.
he waved to you goodbye and watched your figure run away in the pouring rain. shinso felt a wave of regret wash over him since he felt like he should've done more for you back then or at least gave you a hug.
shinso continued the rest of his school week with a weird feeling his chest. he wouldn't admit it but he missed your presence and the warm feeling of the sun's rays on his skin. he missed your bright smile and contagious laugh.
even his classmates caught onto his sad aura but he just brushed them off saying he barely slept that night.
your cat was probably the only thing keeping him happy at this point. he would play with suki after he finished homework.
"suki, do you know what happened with y/n?" he asked the kitten as he rubbed her belly.
suki just meowed in response.
"yeah, i figured you wouldn't know."
just then your cat scratched shinso, "ow, i didn't mean it like that suki."
----------
when you came back to school, the first thing you did was go get your cat back or in other words, see hitoshi shinso. but you didn't dare admit it out loud.
there was a heavy feeling in your heart that you didn't want to talk about because if you talked about it you would start bawling your eyes out. you realized that if you went to go pick up your cat straight away shinso would probably ask what's wrong and you weren't really in the mood to talk at all. hell, you probably should just let the boy keep the cat. he was probably a better owner than you. suki would always run to him and probably spent more time with him than you ever did since you brought her to your dorm.
you stalled picking up your cat and sat down at the tree where you and shinso always talked at. you curled up at the base of the tree and just let your emotions run free.
it began pouring straight away and you didn't even notice that you were completely drenched. it felt nice to cry and have your tears be washed away with rain.
"y/n?" a familiar voice called out.
you turned your head to where the voice was coming from to see shinso standing there with his umbrella.
"y/n, oh my god what are you doing here?" he asked, worryingly.
you just shrugged.
the boy quickly pulled you to your feet and wrapped his school blazer around you. he walked you back to his dorm with an arm wrapped around your back.
shinso had so many questions forming in his mind, that he couldn't speak. out of all the times he's seen you, he has never seen you this quiet and drained before.
once the two of you reached the porch of his dorm you grabbed his wrist, preventing him from walking in.
"what's wrong?" he quickly asked.
you didn't say anything but instead pulled shinso into a hug and just started crying all over again.
the boy did his best to soothe you with his words even though he comforting people wasn't his forte.
after you finally managed to control your breathing you sat down with your head resting on shinso's shoulder. "my favorite aunt died last week. so that's why i had to leave school."
"i'm sorry, y/n. she must have been a great person." hitoshi comforted you as he rubbed your shoulder in a calming manner.
"she was." you smiled sadly. "she was the only person in my family who had such a similar quirk to me. we bonded over that along with other stupid stuff."
"if you don't mind me asking, how did she die? if you don't want to talk about it, it's fine." the purpled haired boy asked, carefully. he didn't want to make you feel worse or bring up any sad memories.
"it's alright shinso." you sniffed. "she died of brain cancer. that's why i left early during the sports festival. i went to go visit her after she just got surgery. everyone told me, even my aunt told me she was getting better. they lied."
you started crying again and the rain seemed to come down even harder as if that was anymore possible. "why did they lie, shinso? she was getting better wasn't she?"
"i don't know, y/n. but from what you're telling me, your aunt was strong a woman and fought bravely. now she's in a better place."
you nodded your head.
"come on, let's go inside. i'll make you tea while you can rest in my bed." shinso helped you up and wrapped his arm around your waist.
you were too tired to even argue against him so you let him lead you away into his dorm.
all shinso's classmates shot him weird looks but were all sent back with a glare. no one questioned the two of you as you made your way into the elevator.
the two of you arrived at his dorm that was the very top of the building and he escorted you inside. shinso quickly searched through his closet for a pair of sweatpants and an old t-shirt. you quietly thanked him as you went to go change in his bathroom.
"i'll be right back, y/n ok?"
you nodded your head and climbed on top his bed, curling up into a ball.
once he came back to his room, he saw you fast asleep. hitoshi quietly laughed at you before he went to go tuck you into the covers. he placed the mugs of tea on his desk and carefully sat down next you with a book in his hand.
he almost knocked over the mugs of tea when you instinctively wrapped your arms around his  torso.
"jesus fuck." he mumbled under his breath.
hitoshi looked back out the window to see that the rain had settled along with you. he softly smiled at you and started to comb his fingers through your h/c hair.
the boy let you sleep for what seemed like hours to you but only ending up being just one hour.
you stirred awake and rubbed your eyes, groggily. you sat up rather quickly once you noticed you weren't in your own room. your sudden abruptness gave shinso another heart attack and caused him to fall off of his own bed.
"ow." he whined.
you peered over the bed to see your friend on the floor. "where the fuck am i?"
"your in my dorm, stupid." he groaned as he rubbed his back.
"oh my god, are you okay?" you asked instantly.
"yeah, i'm just peachy." he answered sarcastically as he stood up. "but the real question is are you ok?"
"yeah, i feel better now. thanks hitoshi." you thanked him, feeling a blush spread across your cheeks.
"don't worry about it." the boy waved you off, also feeling a blush spread across his cheeks. "your tea is on my desk but i think it probably tastes like cold feet."
you laughed at his comment which caused the purple haired boy's heart to flutter just a little bit.
hitoshi's eyes quickly looked away and stared outside the window, "oh my god."
"what is it?" you asked as you quietly walk towards shinso and wrapped your arms around his torso.
"fuck." he jumped a little at your touch. "you gotta stop scaring me, y/n."
"sorry, sorry." you chuckled.
he nudged you when he realized you weren't looking outside, "look it's a rainbow."
you gasped at the ray of colors, feeling insanely better. "wow." you breathed out.
hitoshi could've sworn the rainbow got brighter once you spoke but didn't bring any attention to it whatsoever. instead he just brought you in front of him and pulled you closer.
the two of you didn't say anything until, your cat meowed.
you looked down to see your sneaky kitten, rub her face against your leg. "hi suki! did you miss me?" you cooed at the cat as you picked her up. "did mr. shinso treat you right."
the kitty just meowed for an answer.
"good, i knew he would take good care of you."
"you know y/n, if it weren't for your cat i would've never met you." shinso confessed as he stared at you.
"that's what i was saying to suki this whole time." you smiled at him and placed suki back on the floor.
you wrapped your arms again around the purple haired boy and buried your face into his chest.
"thank you." you mumbled.
"for what?"
"for existing." you simply answered.
in response you got an even tighter hug as hitoshi buried his face into your soft hair. his heart was racing but he felt at home with you in his arm. and so did you.

PART II
oikawa tooru x reader
“cause I remember the rush, when forever is us.”
Winter came quickly, her trees as barren and as cold as the sun. It was time to roll down our skirts and wear those thick cotton stockings. As the season progressed, I found brushing fingertips with Oikawa to have more of a considerable meaning. Ever since I had come to the realization that I had feelings for the boy, the weekly tutoring sessions became more painful. Every smile, grin and laugh we shared felt like cicadas chirping inside of me, violent and chattering. There were so many times I had wanted to vomit all the thoughts I had of him. I wanted to take his lips in my mouth and drink him up. For the first time in my life, I began to feel flustered by my thoughts.
“You know (Y/N)-chan, I can’t thank you enough for helping me.” He purred. He shuffled closer to me. It was not uncommon for him to make these advances, ever since he looked up at me on that gym floor. I was new to love, but not new to the intents of boys. Evelyn has told me stories of the guys she’s dated, the way they would stare at her creamy thighs and bubblegum lips. Still, I favorited Oikawa, he was different. He felt different. So I pretended to not acknowledge his approaches. Looking back on it, maybe that’s what drew him closer to me. I was nonchalant in my ways of love. “Let me take you out somewhere.” He breathes, fixing his glasses. Pen tapping methodically against the notebook. I stifled back a choked expression. I chuckle with nervousness and maybe flattery.
“You’re too sweet, I couldn’t do that to you.” I argue.
“I offered,” he said smoothly, “it would be my pleasure.” Coaxes Oikawa. He seems more bold now, he cups my hands and intertwined our fingers so lovingly. Yet he does it so effortlessly. Like he does this with all the girls that tutor him.
“Alright.” I concede. “I’ll go.” He yelps in happiness and I laugh a little in his childish nature. It felt really good to make someone happy like that. Oikawa wrinkles his nose and squints his eyes at me, inspecting something.
“You have a really gorgeous smile.” He tells me. I am taken aback yet again. His charisma was getting to be a little too much.
“No, you’re just trying to be a flirt.” I gave a quiet laugh as my lips turned upwards too readily.
“You know me so well, (Y/N).” He tilts his head to the side. “There’s a new bakery that opened up in Sendai. I heard it has the best custard buns. We should go together.”
“And probably the best milk bread, right?” I chuckle. The feeling of playful banter was foreign to me, as I’d never had anyone except Evelyn. Oikawa’s eyes crinkle and relish in my cheekiness.
“Well I should start heading out.” He looks over me one last time. The view of the cafe shows the horizon, a mess of oranges, pinks and blues.
“See ya.” I said.
“I’ll call you later tonight.” He whispers, it was a pretty thing. He then disappears onto the fading street, and I just stare into the notebook. A stupid grin plastered on my face.
Tumblr media
I spent most of that night thinking about him, and all the little things he had done to warm my heart. I sat restless on the bed, tossing and tumbling. Waiting for his call. I had ended up falling asleep, phone in hand and ringer turned all the way up.
He never called. When I awoke to no text or missed call from him an ugly feeling took place in my stomach.
In class, I couldn’t hide my disappointment. When I told Evelyn she simply frowned and took my hand. I knew what her gaze said . ‘I told you so.’
But Oikawa profusely apologized when we passed each other in the halls. He said something came up, and the small anger I held diffused quickly. But I tried to move past him.
“What about Sunday?” He stopped me, hand grasping my arm. His touch alerted me. I looked around and saw girls staring. My face felt hot.
“Sure. Sounds nice.” I smile. It seemed Oikawa didn’t realize the prying eyes. Or maybe he did and just didn’t care. Probably the latter.
“Great, it’s a date!” He exclaims and walks away. Chest upturned and unwavering. I walk quickly to my class. Then there was Evelyn, sitting next to my bento box. My legs shook with excitement.
“He made it official, Evie.” I spoke in English, I didn’t want the prying eyes to become prying ears. “He said it was a date!” I laughed in disbelief. This time, Evelyn did not grimace. She just looks surprised. I knew what she was thinking yet again. ‘Oikawa Tooru is never known for taking girls on dates, he just amuses them.’ I just hugged her in a fit of joy, and she hugged me back, she knew how good it felt to be plagued with contentment.
Sunday came around quicker than expected-- I had thought that the days before would be thick and lingering. Like watching paint dry, but it was as cold as it was quick.
I remember it was Saturday night, I had tore open my closet, my room has never been this messy before. I was on a facetime call with Evelyn at the time trying to figure out what to wear.
“I don’t really go out a lot,” I sigh in annoyance. “I barely have anything to wear.”
“Yeah, I know right? You dress like a NEET outside of school, thank god we wear uniforms.” Joked Evelyn.
“Ha ha ha,” I snide, “you’re so funny, now shut up and help me out.” I laughed. I grab a navy blue sweatshirt. It was abundant in warmth and cozy. I slowly slip off my shorts and search for a bottom. In the corner of my eye, I see an unfamiliar skirt.
“Wait Evie, did you ever have a plaid skirt?” I ask, as I rarely wear skirts. I focus the camera on the skirt and Evie hollers at me.
“That’s where it’s been. Oh my god (Y/N) you have no idea how long I’ve been looking for that shit.”
“You always leave your crap at my house.” I deadpan. She just smirks.
“It’s just a parting gift.”
“Then you don’t mind if I try it on, right?” I stepped into the skirt, it fit a little snug, but it still felt perfect. I show her my outfit in the camera.
“Holy shit (Y/N),” she boomed. “You look hot! You need to wear skirts more often.” I meekly blush in her praise.
“You should definitely wear that.” She said.
“With some tights?”
“With some tights.” I signed off later that night.
Tumblr media
I was uncharastically anxious again and rolled tirelessly in the bed. I laid awake, tangled in a mess of stuffed animals and plush blankets. It was 12 am when he had texted me.
Oikawa Tooru : I’m excited for today, I bet you’ll look really pretty. Let’s meet at 11.
At first I couldn’t believe it, the amount of power a person can have over someone. With a simple text, I felt my heart crawl up my throat as it lodged itself there. My fingers were so eager to answer back with so much love and zeal. But I contained the feeling. “Be careful.” Evelyn had said.
I think I should’ve been more wary, though.
Me: alright, goodnight.
Oikawa Tooru: Goodnight (Y/N), sweet dreams <3.
I stared up at my ceiling and gave a gentle kiss to my phone. I was not a very religious person, but I thanked God that night, for giving me such a wonderful boy. After I put the phone down, I slept like the dead.
When I awoke, frost decorated my windows, the sharp sun caressed my face. I groaned in displeasure and stretched, bones cracking and joints popping. It was around 9. I think waiting is the worst part. I paced back and forth, cleaning up my room, sweeping the floor that didn’t need to be swept, studying for things that didn’t need anymore attention. I sat upon my bed, dumbfounded in my boredom. But eventually the time came, though I did not rush as I thought I would. ‘Don’t rush it. Be patient.’ I had told myself. ‘No one likes a desperate girl.’ So I pulled up my tights. Black adorning (S/C) skin. I zipped up the plaid skirt methodically and carefully. Drawing out every movement. I wore my best bra and did my makeup. But I don’t even think you could call it anything substantial back then. Coral red lip tint with mascara. Simple.
Oikawa Tooru: Good morning :). I’m on my way.
When I had left for the door, I had seen a note over a mess of tinfoil. ‘I had to pick up some extra hours at the hospital. Sorry baby. Love you.’ She had written. I lift up the tinfoil and it’s a pitiful attempt at omurice. I bitterly smiled and threw it away, I was going to eat with him anyways, though I’ve never done such a thing like that before. That was the start of it.
As I took the train I felt hot and stuffy, the sweatshirt becoming unbearable yet my legs shivered. It felt unfamiliar to dress for someone else. To do things for someone for the sake of their pleasure— this was something I just couldn’t comprehend. On that train, I felt as big and as small as I could be. I was going on my first date. With the Oikawa Tooru.
It was not a long walk from the station, couples, families and their children alike seemed to litter the sidewalks in a content fashion. Bubble coats and wool scarves swaddled them. The bakery was very quaint, not quite the place I would’ve expected Oikawa to pick, though I saw him through the window, excitement awaited me.

Tumblr media
Y/n was a little out of breath and her body hurt slightly as she entered Chan’s room. She sat down with a sigh, trying to take the situation in. “I’m so sorry I told my parents like that-“ “It’s okay, it probably will clear up some thing to them.” Y/n muttered as she made herself comfortable on his bed.
“I’m sorry for their behaviour, from before and about today.” “It’s okay, you know if you want me to go, I can go right now. I don’t want there to be a conflict between your parents and you because of me.” “There isn’t, really. Well at least not anymore. I just want them to see that you’re so much more than tattoos and a so called ‘delinquent image’.” Chan stressed as he sat down next to her. “Besides, you’re not leaving. I don’t trust you outside, especially not with all those fractures. God knows what you would be up to, going to work I bet and get back to working out. You need to get some rest and let me and the others help you.” He added. “You know that I’d be fine just on my own, don’t you Chan?” She said with a small smile. “I know, and that’s why I want to help you this time.”
Y/n was about to continue arguing against Chan, but something else seemed to catch her attention. Chan turned slowly around to see what she was looking at and noticed the pictures he had put up of them together. He immediately started to stutter out gibberish and frantically tried to hide them from Y/n sight, causing her to laugh at his flustered state.
“Oh my- It’s not what you think! I- fuck!” Chan stressed as he tried to slam the pictures off the shelves I panic, but he was quickly stopped by Y/n who held him by the arm as she laughed. “It’s fine, I’m just surprised. I’ve never seen those before?” She wondered with a smug look on her face. “I-I certainly do not hide them whenever you would’ve come over- what no?” He stuttered, making her burst out in laughter yet again. “You’re cute Channie.” She said with a smile, not admitting that she had pictures printed out of them together as well.
The two were interrupted hours later by Chan’s father who peeped his head through the doorway. “Dinner’s ready.” He announced, before disappearing again. Chan and Y/n quickly following behind.
Chan noticed the nervous look on Y/n face. He held her by the waist in a swift move, hugging her in a comforting way, her heart beating loudly at the sudden action. The whole family sat together, and Y/n couldn’t deny it, but it was awkward as hell. “Y/n, my husband and I want to apologise to you.” Chan’s mother voiced, breaking the silence finally. “We’ve acted needlessly rude to you and we truly regret out immature actions. I hope you can find a way to forgive us?”
“It’s okay Misses Bang. I know that you only want the best for you son. I understand and I respect that. It’s also that I’m quite used to being judged already. Especially since people don’t know my background story...” And so Y/n told the Bang family everything.
They were shocked and saddened to hear the words leaving her mouth. It all sounded like a terrible nightmare. But that terrible nightmare was her actual life, or at least was up to that day when Chan found her.
“I can’t thank him enough for finding me, I wouldn’t know what would’ve happened to me if he would’ve been later or not there at all.” Y/n muttered in a sad voice. “Let’s be glad that didn’t happen and celebrate that you’re still here with us. And Y/n, we are once again terribly sorry. We will try our best to make it up to you.” Chan’s father states with a kind smile, making her smile back.
A warm feeling was filling her body, a loving sense of family had returned to her. Something that had been long for too long.
Tumblr media
“Chan really, I can carry my books myself.” Y/n whined as she stepped out of the car with Chan, chasing him as he carried two heavy bookbags in his arms. “No, the doctor told us crystal clear that you need someone to help you carry things. Your stiches could rip open if you aren’t careful.” Chan states seriously. She let out a whine before she followed him to the building.
The pair received lots of looks from other students. Bang Chan, the popular vice president hanging out with the delinquent, again? People just couldn’t seem to wrap their heads around it. They also couldn’t seem to keep their butts out of other people’s business. Minho had met up with Chan and Y/n in front of the school, where he had already complained about how many people had already run up to him, asking what the deal was between Chan and Y/n, because a poor student was thinking about confessing her love to Chan this week.
“Poor girl.” Y/n muttered. “I know right, Chan has always been ‘smothered’ with confessions, yet he never accepted one.” Minho had informed before getting a notebook thrown to his face in middle of class by Chan who sat right in front of him. Jisung laughed loudly, Y/n did as well as she watched the three from her usual spot in the back.
Sooyun just happened to walk into the room at the wrong, yet best, time. She was about to sit next to Chan, where she usually sat, but to her surprise he stood up.
“You two are annoying, I’m going to sit with Y/n, at least she’s nice to be around with.” He playfully huffs to Minho and Jisung before seating himself in the back.
Sooyun watched his movements like a hawk eyeing its prey. She was about to protest and get him sit back next to her, but Jisung had grabbed her by the hand and pulled her down to her seat, stopping her from doing so. She huffs and turns herself away from them. Her ears caught the sound of Y/n and Chan laughing together in the back of the classroom, talking about whatever. Jealousy rose back into her body as she clenched her fists in anger. She had to do something about this, but what?
Days at school went by and to Y/n’s surprise, people had started to feel for her. She didn’t know why. She had told her story to the principal, explaining why she often skipped school and why she missed classes the past few weeks. There was a promise that her story wouldn’t be made public among the students of other teachers, for Y/n’s privacy and safety purposes.
Eventually Y/n figured that the fellow students were probably nice to her, because Chan and his whole clique were. So, she must’ve become ‘okay’ in their eyes.
There still were a few rotten apples to be found in between the others. They made Y/n out to be a clout chaser, that she wanted popularity or something like’s Chan’s status, his money. People had become quite creative and even said that she apparently wanted to become Chan so she could live a life where people actually liked her.
Y/n ignored the comments and never said anything about them. Especially since she believed that Chan had neve heard them, yet he did. He would look to his side as the whispers kept on going. She smiled at him and shot him a wink, a sign that she was okay. He wondered how she did it. How she handled with such people. It broke his heart to think that she used him. He knew she didn’t.
He wished they would had made an agreement, whenever she would argue that she could just go and stop bothering him, he would receive a thousand won from her. Chan would’ve been even richer by now if that was the deal.
In the meantime Chan wasn’t the only one who kept staring at Y/n, wondering how she did it. Sooyun could’ve been a character in Shrek by now, the green toxic tinting her from jealousy. She had enough of it. Y/n’s sudden gain of popularity, Chan’s attention and everything else she had been working years on to achieve. And here Y/n was, snatching it all away from her within days.
And so, suddenly. Y/n’s life turned upside down, once again. Y/n would walk into the school one day and receive the old nasty stares from everyone again. People bumped into her intentionally, making her hiss in pain, her body still not being completely healed. Chan yelled after them, the quickly asking if she was okay. “I’m fine.” She would mutter back. When they entered the room, a bunch of girls would pull Chan away from Y/n, leaving the both stunned. “What are you doing? Get off me.” Chan glared as he tried to shake the girls’ hands off. “Chan, you need to stay away from her.” “She’s not who you think she is.” The other cried out as they continued to pull them further away from Y/n.
“What are you talking about?” Y/n sighed as she crossed her arms, still in pain. “Don’t act so innocent bitch. You know fully well what you did.” A girl said as she shoved her phone in Y/n’s face. There was a news video playing on her screen. The colour seemed to leave Y/n’s skin as she watched how a journalist talked about her life, her story with her father. She was exposed, but something wasn’t right.
‘… we’re informed from a secured source, that y/l/n, a y/age girl, has drinking problems, abused her father and even thrown him in rehab when she should’ve been the one needing detoxifying…’
“They changed the story. That’s not true-“ Y/n was cut off by the pictures she was shown, also shown in the video that was still playing. They were pictures of her father, bruises all over his body and passed out on the ground. Y/n had seen her father drunk plenty of times, when he was drunk, he could easily hurt himself. She remembered that day, but she just couldn’t figure out how that picture was taken.
“How did this happen.” Y/n murmured to herself in shock. “Just admit it, your true colours are out. We’ve always known that you were nothing but a dense delinquent.” The girl spat, a sly smirk following next. “You know nothing.” Y/n snarled back, stepping closer to the girl. “What were you going to do? Hit me? I think it would be a great addition to your abuse-story, make people hate you more than they already do.” The same girl snarled, a witch-like laugh following.
Y/n turned to Chan in panic, but he was still struggling to get the girls off him.
As soon as Y/n had stepped out of the classroom she was once again swarmed by girls who were ready to protect Chan from her.
Their filth were getting to her head and the boys eventually came into the picture to defend her, but no one seemed to believe them or her. “She must’ve been lying to all of you, it’s all over the news. Every drama channel is talking about it as well.” “This is absurd, you believe those rumours, but not the person who the story is actually about?” “Why should we believe her lies? She’s dysfunctional, she always has been. Besides Sooyun told us that Chan told her himself.”
The words made Y/n’s head take a toll. “He did what now?” Y/n hissed anger firing up her heart. “Oh, please. Don’t pretend you didn’t know. You probably did all of this to get attention, didn’t you? To get Chan to like you and his little friends, well believe us it didn’t work. It’s for the best that Chan has put you back in your place, you’re an awful human being, you shouldn’t be allowed to walk around on earth. You’re not even fucking worthy to be breathing the same air as us-“ Y/n quickly pushed the girls aside when Sooyun was locked into her vision. “You! What the fuck did you do!” Y/n yelled as she stormed her way to Sooyun. “I didn’t do anything.” She said with a wicked smile. Y/n was holding back her tears as she wanted to rip that devilish smile off her face.
Felix would try to calm Y/n down, but he couldn’t stop her from talking as she yelled at Sooyun. “Y/n, sweetheart, here you are blaming me, but aren’t you the one who told Chan everything? He’s the one who gave me the information. How else would people know. You sure as hell didn’t tell me in person.” Sooyun states, which sets Y/n to think. It couldn’t have been Changbin, he didn’t know Sooyun. She didn’t tell Felix, Minho and Jisung anything with deep detail, yet Chan knew everything about her. There were even pictures taken of her passed out father. It seemed too bad to be true. It couldn’t be, right?
To Chan’s inconvenience, he walked right into the conversation at the wrong time. He looked at the two girls in confusion as he was stared at by the both. “Chan, did you…” Y/n couldn’t seem to get the words past her throat, but Sooyun seemed glad to steal the words from her mouth. “Chan, you were the cause of all of this, weren’t you?” Sooyun states, making him shot his head towards her in shock and confusion. “N-no, what are you talking about- Y/n I would never-“ “How do people know about all of this then? It’s told into detail, things I haven’t even told Changbin were exposed in that fucking clip. Explain that! I can’t believe this-“ Y/n cried out in frustration, feeling stupid for ever trusting him at all. “I should’ve known better.” “I’m sorry to say this Y/n, but Chan never seemed to actually care about you.” Sooyun snarled.
“Haven’t you said enough.” Y/n hissed to the girl in front of her. “I’m just saying, Chan never stood up for you whenever someone talked trash about you. We went on dates together and the things he said about you weren’t pretty-“ “Hold on- I never said anything-“ “But you never argued against them either, if you really cared about that poor girl, you would’ve defended her, wouldn’t you?” She said, trying to hold back a smirk as everything seemed to go just as she wished. “Y/n, please, don’t believe her.” Chan begged. “No, she’s right. Months ago, you wouldn’t even look at me, why would you now. I can’t believe how foolish I am to believe you.” Y/n sighed, she felt betrayed and just couldn’t look him in the eye right now.
She quickened her pace and ran out of the building, Chan was about to follow her, wanting to set things right, because this sure as hell wasn’t. He was held back by the same girls, who tried to make him seem that she wasn’t worth it and whatever filth they were trying to fill his mind with.
Y/n had been running for over thirty minutes by now, her hood covering her face as she made her way across the city. Her bones hurt, her arms felt like they were being ripped open as she rushed through the crowd, bumping into people constantly and receiving dirty looks from them as she ran past them.
She didn’t know if it was because they might had seen the video, or if they already knew her by her old reputation. Y/n finally made it to the parlour and stormed inside, completely ignoring Hyunjin who looked at her shocked when he saw he walk in. “Y/n, where’s Chan? Shouldn’t you be at school- what’s wrong? Are you crying- Y/n!” He called after her as paced to Changbin’s wing of the parlour. He jumped in surprise when he heart the curtains being ripped open. The smile on his face quickly dropped when he saw Y/n’s broken state and he rushed to her side to hold her close but carefully.
Her body being like glass to him that had been shattered too many times, put back together and on the edge of being broken again.
“…I never should’ve trusted him.” Changbin understood in-between the sobs that came from Y/n. “Who? Who hurt you? What’s going on? Why aren’t you with Chan? What happened?” Changbin had held Y/n face into his hands as she kept on crying, the tears rolling over his tattooed hands. Y/n murmured in-between her cries the explanation of what happened at school earlier.
Changbin was furious, he was planning of giving Chan a piece of his mind, he didn’t care that he was at school or at home, this was just sick. But for now, he needed Y/n to calm down. He felt her heart racing through her chest as he held her close. He sat her down and hugged her as she rubbed her back. The pain she must be feeling right now were probably unbearable, so he sussed her to sleep and asked Hyunjin to keep an eye on her as he went out to look for Chan.
Tumblr media
Changbin didn’t had to look for long to find Chan as he was at home. Changbin rather punched the door than knocked, before the door swung open. “Bin! I’m so glad you’re here! I can’t find Y/n, I’ve looked everywhere-“ Chan was cut off by a punch that was thrown to his jaw and he stumbled back into his apartment. Changbin followed him in and grabbed him by the collar before throwing another punch to his ‘friend’s’ face. “What was that for!” “Who the fuck do you think you are Bang Chan! What is your bloody deal?” Changbin yelled as he shook Chan in anger, still holding him by the collar. “She went to you, didn’t she?” Chan asked, feeling slightly relieved.
“She did, and I’m glad she did. She came to me crying after all this time. Do you know when the last time was when I saw her cry?” Changbin snarled. “Never, because I don’t make her cry Bang.” “Listen! It’s not what you think! I’m being set up!” Chan cried out. “Sure you are, is this why you want Y/n to be with you these past few weeks. You never like her anyway. Y/n always complained about this vice president who just couldn’t stop harassing her with harsh words and nasty looks. Why should I believe you? I bet you wanted to ruin her all along-“ “I never- no, no! That’s not true!” Chan yelled.
“There’s no reason why I should believe you over the girl who has come crying to me, spilling her heart out on how everyone hates her again.” The fight went on for longer, they exchanged punches and eventually they were panting as they stood in front of each other again, yelling at one another with a black eye and bleeding lips.
“And who the fuck do you think you are! You act like you’re the only who cares about her!” Chan yells. “Well I do care about! I actually do and I show it! I have her trust unlike you!” “What do you think you’re her boyfriend or something?” Chan yelled. “Why do you care? Are you in love with her or something?” Changbin snarled back, leaving Chan stunned in silence.
The silence said enough for Changbin to figure out how it is. “What, you think you can fucking do this and confess your love to her right after-“ “I told you already that I’m being set up!” Chan yells in anger. “Sure buddy, at least she trusts me. You know she does. She comes back running to me every time you mess up. And how many times have that been by now?”
Chan was still panting, but he didn’t know what else to say. He messed up a lot. He wanted to make everything right, but this just made everything worse than it should be, he didn’t understand how this all happened anyway. His mind was blurry and he was confused, because he had his priorities set on Y/n.
“Changbin please-“ “Do you really think I will bring you to her? To break her heart once again after you had your way with it. To ‘confess’ to her and play games with her mind again. I thought not so, buddy.” “Changbin please, I do-“ “I bet I could confess to her right now and she would be with me. I’ve been her friend for the longest time, my parents already thought it would be time for us to step it up. People already think we’re a couple, why not put the title on our relationship?” Changbin snarled.
“Maybe, I should just confess my love to her.” Changbin added as he almost threatened Chan.
Chan felt his heart break and he dropped down on his knees. The tears were flowing down his cheeks and soon past his fingers as he hid his face in his hands. “Bin, please. I love her so much. My heart is in constant pain because of her. Not because she hurts me, but because she has been so good to me. She’s so different, so special. I-I don’t know how to describe it. She’s breath-taking, she’s so much more I could ever wish for in someone. My parents want me to be with a snob rich kid, who only cares about her reputation and the numbers on her bank account. They want me to think about my status and push my feelings aside. I can’t help it Bin, I love her. I love her so much. The past month I’ve felt so free with her. She has no expectations for me, she doesn’t expect me to pay for everything. She always fought me whenever I did, she’d argue with me that she could buy things herself, because ‘she’s an independent woman’.” Chan chuckles as he leaned back on the couch behind him.
“My parents don’t like her, because they can’t see past her appearance. It’s sad. They don’t experience, they don’t see the beauty that she carries. She’s so kind, she’s funny, she makes my heart race and make me do dumb things. Like, skipping school to go on a trip. I have to say that it was the best day of my life, that’s for sure. I’m just an idiot for being such a fool.” Chan cried out.
Changbin sighed as well and sat down next to Chan. “I had a feeling you might’ve been in love with her.” Changbin admitted. Chan looked surprised to his side and eyed Changbin, who ended up bursting into laughter. “If you keep asking about her, then you aren’t playing it off to well mate.” Changbin chuckled, causing Chan to blush.
“Let me tell you another thing about Y/n. You’ve got to know her well up until now and apparently you did a pretty good job doing it since she opened up to you. If you want her to like you, the way you like her. Just be there for her and support her through her hardships.” Changbin’s words causes Chan to burst out in tears again. “I tried! But I keep messing up. I fucked up so many times, where I knew I should’ve been there for her or should’ve stood up for her, but I didn’t.” Chan cried out.
Changbin sighed and got back on his feet. He offered his friend a hand and Chan smiled as he took it. A couple minutes later, they were cleaning their wounds and kept talking together. “Chan, how did you end up in this mess?” Changbin asked softly. “I don’t know man, first thing I know is that I was smiling and laughing with Y/n, then next thing I know. I’m being ripped away from her by some other kids and following that, Y/n running away from the scene.” Chan sighed. “Y/n is really worn off, she ran all the way from school to my parlour. Eyes red from crying and in a lot of pain, I thought her wounds weren’t healed yet.” Changbin states. “They aren’t.” Chan cried out in frustration, guilt and sadness taking over his body.
The boys were interrupted by Changbin’s phone, Hyunjin had texted him. Saying that he had brough Y/n to Changbin’s apartment due to her request.
Chan read along with Changbin and was glad that Y/n was safe.
Changbin sighed once again after pulling his hoodie back over his head, done with cleaning his wounds. “You need to fix this, I don’t know how or where to start, but you need to.” Changbin states. “I know.” Chan let out a whimper, feeling like crying again. “Hey, it will be alright. I’ll make sure she’s okay and I’ll help you figure this out.” Changbin promises. “Really? Aren’t you mad at me?” “I am still a little fired up, but something isn’t right. I can feel it. Besides, I can tell you truly feel for her, I appreciate that you opened up to me.” Changbin voiced in honesty. “So, you aren’t going to…” “No, I’m not going to confess. I was just furious in the moment. I’m sorry.” “No, I am. Thank you Bin.”
When Changbin arrived home, he went to look for Y/n. He panicked a little when he didn’t find her in her room. He ran to his own room, only to find Y/n sound asleep on his bed, Gyu tightly wrapped in her arms. He sighed in relieve and went to lay next to her.

A couple days later, Chan went out for a walk. His jaw still hurt from the punch, he well deservingly, got from Changbin the other day. It was already late and it started to get dark outside. Chan mindlessly revisited the spot where he and Y/n had their first ‘date’ together.
Memories flashed beyond his eyes as he saw the exact spot where they took pictures together. He couldn’t help but smile to himself as he remembered the way she laughed at his lame jokes, how she lit up when she ate his food and enjoyed each other’s company. He remembered holding her in his arms as they danced slowly in the middle of the park, not giving a damn if someone was watching.
His pleasant revisits of memories were cut off by the slurs of a drunken man who wandered around the park. Chan ignored the man, not wanting to be involved into any type of trouble. Unfortunately, the man thought otherwise.
He started to yell and shout around and eventually his eyes caught Chan and decided to stumble his way, rather quick, towards him. Chan noticed the bottle of liquor and a piece of paper in the man’s hand as he caught up to Chan. “You,” the man started. Chan wanted to gag by the disgusting smell of alcohol filling his sense that came from the man. “You look familiar kid.” The man slurred. “I’m sorry sir, I have no idea who you are.” Chan said quickly whilst his eyes looked for someone to help him, but no one seemed to be out at this hour.
“You! You’re this kid!” The man slurred out loudly as he waved a paper, which seemed like a picture, into Chan’s face. Chan’s heart dropped when he recognised the picture. It was a picture of him and Y/n from their first date. “Y-you’re Y/n’s father-“ “I sure as hell am! And you are the piece of shit who brought me into that hell hole! Taking my daughter away from me and daring to involve into our businesses!” The man screamed as he dropped the paper and filling his hand with the collar of Chan’s jacket.
“Sir, please I don’t want any trouble.” Chan begged. “Too bad buddy. You shouldn’t have interfered into our business. You should’ve left your stuck-up ass in one of your little penthouses.” Chan to get away from the man, before anything bad could happen. But Y/n’s father’s grip seemed to be stronger than he thought. “Sir, please let me go-“ “Nah, I have to show this rich city boy what the consequences are like when you ruin my life.”
Chan closed his eyes shut and prepared himself for what was coming, only remembering a piercing pain and darkness taking over him.

“Y/n, Y/n wake up.” Changbin yelled in a whisper as he shook her awake. She groaned in annoyance and pushed him off. “Just five more hours.” Y/n groaned as she hid her head under her pillow. “Y/n it’s an emergency, Chan’s in the hospital.” The words made Y/n shot up. She felt confused, because she didn’t know how to feel about him at the moment, but something inside of her told her to go. “Put on a hoodie and let’s go.”
Y/n and Changbin arrived at the hospital, only to see Chan’s parents and siblings in their pyjama’s as they waited nervously. Chan’s mother was hysterically crying, Lucas and Hannah were tiredly sitting back in their seat, pacing back and forth in anxiousness.
Y/n made eye contact with the mother who immediately pointed violently to her as she started to cry out to her. “You! This is your fault! You’re the reason he’s in the hospital isn’t it?” She yelled as she was being held back by her husband, who quickly argued against his wife alongside the kids. “Honey, this isn’t her fault. The doctor said Chan was attacked by a drunk man.” “D-do you perhaps know what he looked like?” Y/n asked carefully. “No, but he’s send back to rehab, apparently he escaped somehow.” Chan’s father explained, causing Y/n to stumble back. “Y/n, you don’t think that your…” Changbin whispered, not daring to finish his sentence. “I-I hope not. If he has found Chan, he could find me-“ “I wouldn’t let that happen Dumpling, you know that. You’re safe with me.” Changbin assured as he hugged her, whilst they all waited for the results from the doctor.
Which finally came in after forty minutes of waiting. Hannah and Lucas had fallen asleep, too tired from waiting since it was quite late already. “…your son will be fine mister and misses Bang. I do have to inform that he apparently has been hit by a glass bottle and is unconscious right now. We don’t know when he will wake up, but we are sure to keep a close eye on him. You can see him now, direct family first please.”
Y/n could hear the worried cries from his parents coming from the room as she and Changbin still waited. Changbin voiced that he felt guilty for beating his friend up. Y/n admitted that she didn’t know yet how to feel about Chan yet. If she even wanted to be there, especially after what Chan did to her. “Y/n, I understand that you have hard feeling towards him right now, but do consider that there is something wrong. Something just doesn’t add up.” Changbin states, setting Y/n to thinking.
Tumblr media
Days had passed and Chan still hadn’t awakened from his unconscious state. She had seen how hard it had been for his parents and she truly hoped that Chan would wake up soon. Y/n also had been thinking about what Changbin had told her the other day, but it just makes her even more confused than that she already was.
‘He’s so nice, he has been for the past months, why would he do this?’ She questioned herself as she walked towards the hospital, wanting to visit Chan. ‘Chan hasn’t always been nice to me though, why would he become nice to me all of the sudden? Was it an act since he was forced to tutor me? Or did he actually mean everything he said- this better not be a fucking bet or I will throw him back into his hospital bed as soon as he’s able to leave it.’ Y/n growled in her mind as she now stomped her way to the hospital.
“Y/n, calm down. There must be something going on, like Binnie said.” She said to herself, before she took a deep breath and entered the building.
When Y/n arrived at Chan’s room, she wasn’t surprised to see his mother there. She had been staying there for the past couple days, not wanting to leave her oldest son alone, especially at a time of vulnerability. She shot Y/n a side eye when she entered the room.
“Hello misses Bang.” She said politely as she bowed for her. “Y/n.” She sighed as she focused on her son again. Y/n looked at the monitor that kept track of his heartbeats, which seemed mostly steady. “How is he doing?” Y/n tried to ask, but not receiving an answer from the woman in front of her.
Chan’s mother would sigh after a period of silence and turn herself to Y/n with a serious look on her face. “Don’t you think you’ve done enough.” She sighed, causing Y/n to become angry. “I’m sorry, but I’m tired of this. With all the respect, but you keep pretending as if this is all my fault, when you sure as hell know that it is not.” Y/n snapped. “If my son never interfered with you and your issues, none of this would’ve ever happened.” She cried out in frustration. “First of all, Chan and I were both forced together by our principal who made him tutor me. And besides that, don’t you think I know that. Because my drunken dad had to escape and somehow find Chan, he’s hurt. Don’t you think that I think this is all because of me? If you don’t you are pretty dense.” Y/n snarled.
“I think it’s time for you to leave.” His mother said calmly as she took her son’s hand into hers. “Fine, I’ll go. But I just want to make sure that you know that, Chan means a lot to me. You’ve raised one hell of a son. He’s absolutely amazing. He’s sweet, caring, charming and humble. You re lucky to have a son like him. I know you don’t like me ma’am, I’m aware of it, but I love that guy. So much. I don’t even know what to do with my feelings since I know you would never accept me and my ‘issues’. Everything I’ve told you and your family is true ma’am and Chan helped me through a lot of them. And I love him for that, more that you could ever know.” Y/n said as tears stream down her face. Both of their faces turned to the monitor when Chan’s heart skipped a beat, before Y/n continued to rant.
“I know I’m not perfect and that I never will be, that’s why I respect your request and I’ll leave as soon as I’m done ranting, but just know this ma’am. There’s much more to me than the tattoos and old stories that belongs with my past. He was focused on who I am today and saw good in me. Something not a lot of people notice in me.”
Chan’s mother looked at Y/n stunned and surprised. She would’ve never guessed such meaningful words coming out of Y/n’s mouth. She gulped loudly and tried not to show how Y/n’s words had moved her to tears.
“I’ll get going then, goodbye ma’am.” Y/n whispered, before she bowed and left. Her heart aching as she just admitted to someone other than herself, her feelings for Chan.
During her rant the two women didn’t know Chan could hear everything the two said. He felt like he couldn’t move, his body was numb and uncontrollable. His heart sped up in panic when he heart her leaving.
Before she exited the room, he could make out a whisper. “No… stay…” His mother, who was now alone with him again in the room, shot her attention to her son, who also managed to squeezed the hand he was holding slightly. His mother thought he was talking to her, when in reality Chan was begging in his mind for Y/n to come back. For her to confess her love to him over and over again, that’s all he wanted to hear. He wanted to see her again, he wanted to tell her that he loved her too.
“Don’t worry Channie, I’m right here.” His mother said as she kissed her son’s hair. Chan was glad she was there, but all he wanted right now, was Y/n to be by his side.
His mother knew better though. She knew the words were meant for Y/n. She had observed her son and had of course seen the pictures of the two in Chan’s room when she went to bring him his freshly washed clothes. She was shocked at first to see her son and this trouble maker of a girl together, but she couldn’t lie to herself. She saw how happy her son seemed with Y/n. She has at least never seen pictures of Chan and Sooyun together in Chan’s room.
That was one of the moments where she realised that Y/n was something special that Chan was planning on keeping close to his heart. When Chan brought Y/n home almost every day, she started to feel scared and thought that her son might take things too fast and he should reconsider his other possibilities.
But it seemed like Chan had already made his choice. She brushed her son’s hair as she looked down at him and knew that he had it all figured out already.
Well, most of it.
Tumblr media
After calling in sick for a week at school, she was now forced again to attend classes. And yet again, there were students blaming Y/n for Chan’s injuries and him ending up in the hospital. Y/n had been doing quite well with ignoring all of them.
“I’m surprised you aren’t put in jail yet. That’s where you belong.” “Don’t say that. You’re insulting the prisoners when you compare them to that.” Another girl said as she nodded toward Y/n, laughing annoyingly right after.
As Y/n had been continuing to go to school, everything seemed to go downhill for her. The three boys couldn’t seem to cheer her up. They did manage to make everyone back off and leave her alone, but it wasn’t enough for Y/n.
She looked so depressed and it broke their hearts. They were confused as well, but they knew this wasn’t the Y/n they had always known. The Y/n they knew was strong, independent and could shine as bright as the sun whenever she was happy or in her own habitat. The Y/n who sat in front of them was laying her hear on the table as it rested on her arm. Her glow seemed to be gone and they wanted nothing more than to fix it for her.
One day, Y/n would call in sick anyway, saying that her body still hurt too bad, making up the excuse or else the school wouldn’t let her stay in. Changbin didn’t know this and was surprised once again to see his best friend arrive at the parlour. Hyunjin noticed Y/n gloominess and called Changbin in as soon as he could.
Changbin’s heart broke and brought her to his wing where they could talk. Hyunjin decided to give the two some space and went out to do so. “What’s wrong?” Changbin asked carefully as he took her hands in his. “I-I can’t do this anymore Bin.” She sobbed in front of him, her body shaking from exhausting, not only physically but also mentally.
“W-what do you mean? Please Dumpling, talk to me.” Changbin’s voice was shaking in fear as he suspected the worse. “I don’t want to go on Bin, I can’t do this anymore. Everyone hates me. Everyone is against me and I’m ruined. Why does everyone hate me? Why always me? I hate myself so much Changbin. Chan is in the hospital because of me, my dad is in rehab and was probably looking for me. He hates me as well. Maybe I should listen to everyone and just-“
“Don’t you fucking say that!” Changbin yelled out as he stood up with tears streaming down his face as his heart broke, piece by piece. “But Bin-“ “No! I won’t let you. I will fucking end myself if you ever try to end your life! You don’t want that right?” “That’s just mean Bin.” She whispers whilst looking up to him with tears-filled eyes.
“And this isn’t? Think about how much pain I’d be in if you ever leave me. I was already in so much pain when I was in Japan and I couldn’t be with you. Fucking hell, I even hired Felix to keep an eye on you, because I needed to know how you really were. Please. I love you, you’re my best friend. I can’t live without you, you’re my better half, you’re my partner in crime and I can’t afford to lose you. Besides, I know there is someone, who I can’t name, but this person loves you so much. I can’t even explain how much this person loves you. Please Y/n, will you promise to stay?” Changbin cried out, causing Y/n to cry out as well.
Changbin sat down next to her and brought her into his arms as they cried their hearts out together, “I’m sorry Binnie.” She sobbed into his shoulder, hugging him tighter. “It’s alright Dumpling, you’re safe as long as you’re with me. And I promise you. I’m not going anywhere.”

Meanwhile, at the hospital Chan had finally awaken to everyone’s joy. He groaned out loudly when he opened his eyes for the first time in days. His head was pounding, his chest hurt and he felt a weird tube in his nose that he assumed was to feed him, so he wouldn’t die of hunger. He couldn’t remember much, everything seemed like a vague dream.
His mother would swaddle him as soon as the doctors said she could, after they had finished their check-ups. “Where’s Y/n?” He’d ask eventually. “Goodness dear, think about yourself for a second. You’re the one who’s hospitalized.” His mother argued as she tucked him in. “Mom, seriously, how is she.” When his mother chose to ignore him, he got mad. “Just forget about her Chan, think about your health.” She scoffs, only making Chan angrier. “No! I’m done with you and dad always deciding for me what to do or who to be!” His mother was surprised by her son’s reaction. “All my life you have been planning my future, not even giving me a chance to think or speak for myself! I’ve always pleased you! By winning all my competitions I attended, all my grades are better than others. You made my life an actual competition and I’m done with it! I get that you want me to think about myself, but from now on I’m done listening to you two. I have a voice of my own and I won’t let the two of you decide for me anymore. I’m a young adult for God’s sake!” Chan exclaimed in frustration.
“I get that you and dad are looking out for me, but once I fall in love with someone, I just feel like you want to ruin that for me. Because you want me to be with a shitty snob who only cares about money and her status. I have better things to do than think about the numbers on my bank account and how my hair looks. I want someone who’s interesting, who has a deep personality, someone I could talk to in the middle of the night about anything and everything.” Chan sighs as he sat back, looking away from his mother as he tried to calm down.
His mother knew her son was right and sighed as she tried to stroke his cheek in comfort. “We’ll talk about this at home, okay?” “No! Stop ignoring this! You know I’m right!” Chan yelled as he sat up. “Channie, please lay back down.” His mother almost begged. “All I’m asking was how she was! I get that you hate her, but just answer the bloody question. I already have no idea what the hell happened to me. I only know the things you all told me and I don’t know who to believe anymore! She hasn’t visited me at all and that might be my own fault, but she’s still healing mom. Someone needs to help her out. I just want to make sure she’s alright, okay.” Chan cried out.
His mother sighed and stood up and left the room for now, knowing Chan needed some time alone. She saw how upset he was, almost heartbroken that she hadn’t visited him. She couldn’t help but feel guilty for sending Y/n away every time she came to visit him.
Chan laid back in his bed and he felt like crying. He was just so worried about her. He couldn’t help it. Eventually Chan would realise that she would be safe at Changbin’s. He sighed and felt envious that he was able to be with Y/n, whilst he was stuck in his hospital bed. Chan would look to his side and pick up his phone before he scrolled through is gallery. Deciding to revisit the happy memories before he fell back asleep.

“Chan, Channie wake up there’s someone here to see you.” A familiar voice woke him up before he fully opened his eyes, unsurprisingly his mother came into his vision. Still feeling angry with her he turned away from her, causing her to sigh. “Fine, you don’t have to look at me. I guess I deserve that. But at least look at her when you talk to her.” She mutters, still pressing a kiss on her son’s hair through his protest.
Chan looked away from his mother to see Y/n standing at the end of his bed, a small smile plastered on her face as she looked at him. She looked better, still tired and a little bruised, but her wounds definitely healed well. Chan was startled at her presence and shot up in his bed. Feeling a little embarrassed as well since he probably looked like a mess. “I’ll be down in the cafeteria if you need me.” Chan’s mother states before she exited the room, leaving Chan and Y/n alone.
Chan tried to find the right words to say, but was quickly interrupted by the tears that suddenly flowed down Y/n’s face. “Hey, hey! What’s wrong?” Chan asks as he mentioned to her to sit beside him. “I’m sorry, none of this would’ve ever happened if-“ “No, don’t cry. This isn’t your fault.” Chan assured as he brought her in his arms. “But-“ “No buts, this isn’t your fault, none of this is. I’m fine Sunshine, I’m not going to lie, I missed you.” He chuckled, causing her to burst out in laughter as well as she tried to stop her crying.
“I missed you too.” She pulled away from him and caressed his cheeks as she looked at him. “Are you okay?” She asked him as she realised that she was actually with him in the hospital. “I am, don’t worry. I’ll be back on my feet in no time.” He chuckled as he leaned into her hand affectionately, also couldn’t help but feel like she was the cutest being in the world right now. “How have you been? Do your arms still hurt?” Chan asks as she inspected them. “They healed well. Felix and the others have helped out a lot. I owe them one, I promised them to make them something ‘scrumptious’ when everything calms down a little.” She said with an awkward chuckle, but was surprised to hear Chan burst out in laughter.
“Where did you get the word ‘scrumptious’ from?” He wheezed. “Trust me, ever since you’re gone, Jisung and Minho have been fighting on who is smarter and they had this vocabular battle. I picked up some of the words after laughing my ass off.” She giggled. “I’m glad they’re good to you.” Chan sighs in relief.
“I’m glad too.” Y/n said before the two sat in silence for a period of time, not later being broken by Y/n who nervously asked Chan what happened to her dad. “I heard that he was brought back to rehab, but a stricter one with more security and supervisors.” “I-I’m scared Chan, I know he was looking for me. I-I should’ve been more careful, you wouldn’t be in pain right now.” She cried again. “Don’t cry, you’re safe with me. I promise.” Chan whispers as he hugged her tight.
She relaxed into his touch and buried her face in the crook of his neck. He had his hands on both of her cheeks and she leaned into his touch, just like he did minutes ago. She was stunning to him, even if she had cried her eyes out only seconds before. Chan felt like he had to tell her, it was now or never. He sat up and leaned closely towards her as he kept staring deep into her eyes. “What?” She giggled in a whisper, feeling flustered by the sweet smile he was sending her.
Chan’s heart was racing, the words were on the tip of his tongue and he felt like he left his sanity and mind in cloud nine. “I like you.” He whispered. Y/n was taken back by his confession and leaned back in surprise, looking at him in expectation of him to tell her that he was joking. “What?” She asks him again. “I like you Y/n. I’ve had feelings for you for some time now.” He admitted with a smile plastered on his face.
Y/n’s heart was racing, but unfortunately not because she was happy. “Don’t say that. Don’t say things you don’t mean.” She stuttered, feeling her heart increasing beats per second. “What do you mean? Y/n-“ “I have to go.” She murmurs as she got off the bed, anxiety overtaking her esteem as she picked up her pace.
A nurse had walked in the middle of the scene, obviously not knowing what was going on and was surprised when she saw Y/n run past her, out of the room. Chan was ready to jump out of bed and run after her, but the nurse had other plans. She ordered him to get back into bed since he wasn’t fully recovered yet and it could do major damage to his body.
In the cafeteria Chan’s mother spotted Y/n running through the building with tears streaming down her face. She got up and wanted to catch up to Y/n, but she was too quick and eventually disappeared in the crowd. She hurried to Chan’s room where she found her son crying. She asked him what happened and Chain explained through his sobs that he had confessed to Y/n. Chan felt heartbroken and confused.
“I don’t get it mom, why would she react that way?” Chan sobbed softly as he looked at his mother with big, teary eyes. “I don’t know honey, maybe she’s scared. She has lost quite some loved ones already. She might be scared to have her beloved close in her life. We don’t know honey.” She mutters as she rubbed her son’s back.
Chan immediately felt a wave of guilt washing over him and started to cry out harder. “I should’ve been more sensitive. I didn’t realise that. I should’ve been more careful.” Chan cried. “There, there. Don’t worry love, the two of you will be fine. I know you will. Besides, you have always been caring, especially towards her. From what I’ve seen?” She chuckles. “She will turn by honey, trust me.” She added, before pressing another kiss on her son’s head.
She knew that Y/n felt the same way as the son did, but it wasn’t her job to tell him that.

Summary: (Y/N), a first-year student attending Tokyo U, is living with her best friend, Kozume Kenma. One wrong move, and the parlay’s stakes only get higher each time.
Chapters: First | Previous | Next
Kuroo tried. He really did. For his best friend’s sake, he wanted to distance himself a bit from (Y/N) and her feminine wiles. Earlier that day, he’d lounged at home watching TV. The news reported that a serial mugger was at large around Tokyo U. Kuroo, being a rather large male, didn’t think much of it. Besides, all he had on him was his phone, his notebook, and a wad of gas station receipts, and a boatload of student debt that he’d love for someone to take off his hands. To him, it wasn’t really a big deal.
What was a big deal was that today was Tuesday, and it was also the first day he resolved to stop walking (Y/N) to work. She was a big girl, she had pepper spray, and he shouldn’t be giving people the wrong idea. But that plaid yellow skirt was making him nervous.
Despite his reservations, he managed to choke out that he wouldn’t be able to walk her to work that day, and (Y/N) gave no indication that she minded. They talked as normal before going their separate ways after class.
Kuroo Tetsurou was a weak human being. The girl hadn’t gotten more than 20 steps away from him before the memory of that god-awful news story got to him, and he was sprinting after her.
“Kuroo-kun? I thought you had somewhere to be?”
“I-- Uh, I have a little time?”
“But I don’t want you to be late! I can text you as soon as I get there?”
Kuroo hesitated. He really needed to put some distance between them, but could he really leave her to walk by herself? It was getting dark. Would he be able to forgive himself if anything happened to her?
“Look, a dog!” she excitedly pointed out a woman walking her corgi across the quad.
“He’s super handsome!” she called out to the owner, who offered to let her pet him. (Y/N) wore an expression of pure joy as she played with the little dog who was basking in the attention. Kuroo looked from her, to the dog, to her pretty yellow skirt, and he cursed himself for being so weak. Standing up, she thanked the owner, and brushed the nonexistent dust from her skirt.
“Please, Kuroo-kun, I’d never want you to be late because of me.” She was too sweet for her own good.
Kuroo meant to say either, “You’re fine, don’t worry about it,” but decided to say, “It’s a pretty short walk.” Then, he made the mistake of looking down at the tender look she was giving him.
The next thing he knew, he had mixed the two and said, “You’re pretty.”
‘Welp, I’m gonna curl up under than bench over there and never move again.’
“Oh! Ahh,” (Y/N) cupped her cheeks in her hands. Avoiding eye contact, she stared down at her shoes, “Well, ah, Kuroo-kun, you’re not bad looking, yourself… Okay, I’m walking away now! Come with me or don’t,” she squeaked and walked briskly in the direction of Chisai. On instinct, Kuroo got his legs to follow closely behind.
‘At least she’s flustered too. But that’s not the point! Come on, Tetsu. Fix this!’ he scolded himself.
“Sooo… about that test next week--”
“Yes! I meant to talk to you about that! Okay, so what I was thinking is--”
Kuroo was bewildered by the sudden shift in mood. She’d been passionate about school since day one, but right now she was… radiant.
“--and since your notes are so objective, I think it would be a huge help for me if we studied together!”
“(Y/N)what’syourmajor?” he rattled out.
The girl beside him quirked an eyebrow, “Pardon?”
Kuroo cleared his throat, “What’s your major? You just-- You just are so obsessed with--! Wait, not obsessed, I didn’t mean that! I just thought--”
“Kuroo-kun, it’s alright,” she chuckled. “I get what you mean. I know I can be a bit much when it comes to school.”
“It’s really--”
‘--endearing’
“--not a bad thing, though!” She waved him off with an easy laugh. They observed the setting sun over the horizon. The shining light of golden hour hit her just perfectly to give her face an angelic glow. She looked stunning against the autumn leaves.
“No, it’s not a bad thing, though it can be a bit troublesome sometimes. I’m undeclared.” That wasn’t the answer he expected. If she had said, ‘criminal justice’ or ‘neuroscience’ or ‘making people adore me,’ he would have accepted any of those answers as legitimate majors he could see her in.
“Undeclared? But you’re so… So…”
“So, what?” she looked up at him expectantly.
“So… passionate. About learning. I thought you’d thrive in whatever major.” In fact, her insatiable thirst for knowledge was one of the things that drew him to her.
(Y/N) gesticulated wildly with her arms, “That’s just the thing! There are so many things I want to do, I think I could be happy with anything! But there’s so much to worry about, like whether I’ll get a job after university, how long I’ll have to be in school, how much money I stand to make. There are a million things I have to take into account, but… I dunno, I don’t want to make the wrong choice. I don’t want to wake up one day, and wish I could go back to where I am now and make a different choice. Does that make sense?”
Kuroo stared at her with wide eyes. He never would have guessed that the sweet, caring girl who could make friends with a pebble would be feeling so uncertain about her future. Strangely, though, he quite liked it. The fact that she was having such a crisis made her more human, for lack of a better term. Right then, she wasn’t Kenma’s perfect sweetheart of a girlfriend. She was just (Y/N). She must have taken his silence for confusion, as she broke into his thoughts.
“Ahh, Kuroo-san, I’m sorry for going off on you like this. I think pre-finals week is frying my brain, and I’ve just been babbling like an idiot all day,” she recomposed herself.
Kuroo grabbed one of her hands and clutched it in both of his. The taller male looked deep into her eyes.
“No! Don’t apologize. I’m glad you shared this with me.” “That’s sweet of you, Kuroo-san, thank you for--” “And you don’t have to go back to calling me Kuroo-san. Use -kun or you can even just call me Kuroo. I don’t mind.”
Realizing the position they were in, he dropped her hand abruptly. Their walk continued in embarrassed silence. They bid each other farewell at the front steps of Chisai Tea House, and Kuroo made sure he saw (Y/N) get through the shop’s doorway. His amber eyes lingered at the spot she was standing for a moment longer. At peace from his time with her, he turned his back on the shop and decided he might as well be late for this one practice. Behind him, the front door jingled. He turned.
“Good, you’re still here,” (Y/N) panted, “I was serious about studying together. Are you free tomorrow?”
“All day,” he heard himself say.
She made a face like she was trying not to smile too wide, “Great. I’ll text you later this evening. Have a great night, Kuroo,” and she was gone. He ended up not being late to practice at all, and his teammates were commenting on the stupid shit-eating grin he wore the whole time.
~~
Kuroo’s eyes snapped open. When had he fallen asleep? The last thing he remembered, he was on (Y/N)’s bed poring over lecture notes and study guides reviewing the concept of binary fission and how DNA is read from the 3’ end to the 5’ end. If the pastel yellow walls were any indication, he wasn’t in his own bedroom, and the comfortable weight on his chest was definitely not normal. His heart nearly stopped when he looked down at his chest and saw a familiar head of sweet-smelling hair. The girl’s cheek was pressed against his muscular chest and she had one hand over his heart. One of their binders was wedged under her thigh and Kuroo felt a couple highlighters digging into his back. She was breathing softly, and Kuroo couldn’t help but notice how comfortable he felt in that position. Through the door, he heard plates and bowls being shifted around, but if (Y/N) was here, then who was out there?
It suddenly hit him, “Shit,” Kuroo hissed, ‘Oh my god, this isn’t Bro-Code, this is the exact opposite of Bro-Code. Crap, she’s so cute and-- No! This is my best friend’s girl! What happened to distance, Tetsu!? I fucked up I fucked up I fucked up.”
As gently as his haste would allow, he lifted the girl’s head and shuffled out from under her. Deciding he could come collect his stuff later, his mind went into overdrive, and he made a break for the door. He stopped mid-way and looked back at the girl’s sleeping form. Against his better judgement, he found himself removing his Tokyo U team jacket and draping it over her before making a swift exit.
“Hi, Kenma. Bye, Kenma.”
“Kuroo,” Kenma’s quiet voice stopped him from throwing himself out the front door. The middle blocker turned sheepishly.
“Yes?” he squeaked.
Kenma looked up from his breakfast, “Relax. Really, it’s not something to freak out about.”
“You saw that?”
“The door was open this morning.”
Kuroo sighed, “Kenma, I--”
“Stop,” his best friend cut him off, “You’re not a bad friend, Kuroo. Actually, about (Y/N)--”
It seemed the universe had a way of hitting Kuroo with the worst timing possible when the girl that was currently turning his emotions into a jumbled mess waddled down the hall sleepily, draped in his jacket with his name emblazoned on the back.
‘Nope. No, absolutely not,’ he could not have walked out the door any faster. It slammed closed behind him.
“Was that Kuroo that just left?” she yawned.
“Mhmm.”
“Thanks for your jacket, Ken-Ken, I was cold this morning.”
“(Y/N), that’s not mine,” he said through a mouthful of cereal, “It’s way too big.”
(Y/N)’s brow furrowed into her signature look. After a look of realization crossed her face, she raised her hand to her mouth with a quiet ‘oh.’ Her eyes drifted towards the door.
“But why would he--”
“Lately he’s been coming to practice sweaty and completely out of breath,” he told her.
“What does that have to do with me?”
“It’s only ever on Tuesdays and Thursdays.”
“Kenma… What time are your practices?”
“5:30.”
(Y/N) gasped.
“You mean he--?”
“He’s never actually late if that’s what you’re worried about. I just thought you might like to know. Can’t you see how much he cares about you?”
(Y/N) slid into the nearest chair. She sat in stunned silence for a long while, with his jacket still wrapped around her, processing what Kuroo had been doing for her. Kenma waited a while before bringing her back to reality.
“I think you need to tell him about the bet,” he advised.
His roommate nodded, “I will. He really did all that for me?”
“Honestly, (Y/N)? I think he’d give you the moon, if you asked for it.”
~~
“Do you need something, Tetsu-chan? Or are you just admiring my handsome face?” the setter asked. Kuroo’s stare had been burning holes in Oikawa’s back all practice, and it was really starting to get old, which is why the brunette waited until all the other guys had exited the locker room before rounding on his teammate.
Kuroo jumped in surprise. “Don’t-- Don’t be so full of yourself, bastard,” he grumbled. The boy hadn’t realized how long he’d been starting at his teammate.
Oikawa clicked his tongue. He waggled his finger at the taller male.
“Ah, is that any way to get the answers you want? You want to know about my relationship with (Y/N)-chan, don’t you?” Aoba Johsai’s former captain smirked evilly.
“Fine. Yes, I do,” Kuroo growled, “But I didn’t think it was any of my business.”
“That’s definitely true, my dear Tetsu-chan, but because I am a man so pure of heart--” Kuroo rolled his eyes, “--I can’t blame you for being curious about the ex-boyfriend of the girl you have feelings for.”
“I don’t have feelings for-- Wait, what? You two were together?” the taller of the two asked in disbelief. It just didn’t make sense. He understood how anyone at all could fall for (Y/N), but he couldn’t understand how (Y/N) could like the shallow, dramatic man-child before him.
“Yup! For a whole two and a half years,” Oikawa crooned. Two and a half years was a long time. Was it possible the two of them still have feelings for each other?
“I still love her, you know.”
‘Well, that answers that question.’
Honestly, Kuroo was disappointed, but not one bit surprised. If she and Kenma fell through, (Y/N)’s handsome and talented ex-boyfriend still had feelings for her. It wasn’t like he stood a chance when kind, doting Kenma and passionate, charming Oikawa were options.
“I hear you’ve been avoiding her lately. Is that true, Tetsu-chan? Because I know (Y/N) very, very intimately,” he purred that last word, “And I know for a fact that if you distance yourself from her, she will not chase after you. The choice to be in her life is one you alone have to make.” Oikawa’s chocolate eyes were dead serious, his tone was nothing like anything Kuroo had heard from him before. But he was right. After that disaster in her bedroom, Kuroo had been dead-set on cutting contact with her until he could keep his emotions in check. He ignored her texts, stopped walking to work, he even hung out with Kenma at his own apartment instead of theirs. Every minute of it made his heart ache. Her texts increased in frequency as she grew more and more concerned until one day: nothing.
“I can’t do that to Kenm--”
“Get your head out of your ass, Kuroo,” Oikawa snapped. “You wouldn’t be on this team if you didn’t have a good head on your shoulders. So tell me, has anyone explicitly stated that (Y/N) and Kenma were dating?”
Well, it was-- Wait. Kuroo cycled through a hundred different conversations with the two of them and could not come up with a single utterance of the words ‘boyfriend’ or ‘girlfriend.’
“You don’t know, right? Okay, have either of them hugged, kissed, or done anything that cannot be anything except romantic?”
Now that Kuroo thought about it… No. Not once. But what was he trying to say? Oikawa walked over and got right in the blocker’s face.
“If (Y/N) still wanted to be with me, she would be. But, she doesn’t look at me the way she used to. Now she looks at you the same way she used to look at me, so you need to stop acting like a middle-schooler with no problem-solving skills and actually talk to her!”
“And who are you to tell me all this?” Kuroo bit back. “I thought you still loved her. Why are you telling me to go after her?”
Oikawa took several deep, shuddering breaths and looked up determinedly. Kuroo was taken aback by the tears shining in the Grand King’s eyes, “I promised I’d do anything to make her happy. Apparently that involves you now. So, what’ll it be?”
The shorter male backed off first, “Are you going to face whatever the hell you’re so afraid of, or will you keep ignoring her and punish her for your own insecurities?”
With that, the brunette snatched up his belongings and stormed out.
~~
The bonfire burned brightly and it felt like the entirety of the Tokyo U student body was there. After that conversation with Oikawa, Kuroo wasn’t sure what to think. Were Kenma and (Y/N) dating or not? Did (Y/N) have feelings for him? Did he have feelings for (Y/N)? He had spent so much time either being freaked out by her general existence or vehemently denying that he thought about her very much at all, that he hadn’t been able to work out his own feelings.
From: Kenma [9:36 pm]: Where r u? (Y/N) wants to talk to u
Kuroo wasn’t quite sure what he wanted. If he entertained the idea of being with her romantically, all he could picture was him giving her his heart and her deciding she doesn’t want it. Now, he was at this dumb bonfire watching (Y/N) party it up with her friends while he sat at the water’s edge getting sand all over himself. He felt the sand shift beside him and taking the drink offered to him, he said, “Whatever it is, I don’t think I’m in the mood right now, Kou.”
“Oh no, Bokuto-san’s been over there doing keg stands with his frat brothers,” said the absolute last person he was ready to talk to right now. Glancing over, he was met with moonlit eyes and a gentle gaze.
“Hey.”
“Hi.”
(Y/N) set her drink in the sand beside her. Leaning back on her hands, she tilted her head backwards and stared at the stars. They sat silently in the cool night air for several minutes, each waiting nervously for the other to make the first move.
“Kuroo-kun? Did I do something wrong?” she asked quietly, as if she hadn’t meant to speak aloud.
He sighed. This wasn’t what he wanted at all.
“No, it’s-- It’s not you. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Then why have you been avoiding me? It’s been three weeks, Kuroo-kun.”
The boy beside her ran a hand through his unkempt hair and exhaled harshly through his nose.
“I know, I know, it’s just. I thought we needed some distance. I was just thinking about you and Kenma, and I don’t know what the hell is going on with that confusing mess of a relationship, and I recently found out that you and Oikawa were together for fucking two and a half years.”
‘That’s enough.’
Kuroo couldn’t stop. All his confusion and frustration was coming to a big, ugly head.
“We were getting close and Kenma is smart and basically internet famous, and Oikawa could have whoever he wants on this campus and he’d get back with you if you just said the word.”
‘Why am I saying this?’
"Every single one of my teammates has commented on how cute you are at some point and I just-- I didn’t want to be involved, you know?”
‘(Y/N), I don’t mean that, I swear.’
Beside him, he heard a loud crunch of plastic. (Y/N) had her red solo cup clenched tightly in her fist. The ripped plastic had cut into her palm and cheap beer was mixing with blood and dripping all over her exposed legs. Her jaw was clenched tight and the girl was shaking with rage.
“What the fuck, Kuroo?!”
“Huh?”
“You got all that crap about me and my relationships with Tooru and Kenma, and you’ve made all kinds of assumptions about me from shit your teammates say about me? Are you kidding me right now? You haven’t bothered to ask me shit! You’ve been skirting around me, asking the men in my life all about me and my relationships, and you say that I’m soooo cute and soooo smart, but apparently not cute and smart enough for you to come to me about stuff that concerns me!”
‘I didn’t know you felt that way.’
“And you know what? You should be fucking confused about me and Kenma because we’re not dating.” (Y/N) snapped to her feet and glared down the bridge of her nose at Kuroo.
“What, you broke up?” Kuroo asked, bewildered.
‘Shut up, shut up!’
“No, it was a bet, okay? Kenma and I made a bet that if we didn’t correct you, you’d never notice we weren’t actually dating.” It was Kuroo’s turn to stand up.
“I-- What-- You--? (Y/N), you made a bet over me?” he fumed.
“Yes, we did, and I admit, it was sort of shitty, but you know what? It wouldn’t have been a problem if you didn’t think you were so damn clever and actually ask me instead! If you were so confused, then why didn’t you just ask, Kuroo?”
He threw his hands up and huffed.
‘You’re right. I’m sorry.’
“I didn’t think it was any of my business!” he yelled back.
“Oh yeah? But my relationship history is your business? I try to be kind and friendly and keep out of people’s way, and my kindness somehow gives people the impression I’m like some shiny handbag that someone may-or-may-not ‘deserve’ to have, but guess what? I’m a human being, and you know what else? I can make my own damn choices.”
If Kuroo was in his right mind right then, he might’ve thought she was right. He might’ve said so and the argument would have been over. Sadly, his mind was reeling from the anger and betrayal over a bet that had him in emotional turmoil for months now. He couldn’t stop now.
“Well, if you hadn’t--”
“I’m not done. I thought you liked me, Kuroo-san, and I can’t believe you think I’d run back to my ex at the drop of a hat. You think I’d go back to Tooru, what, because he ‘could have anyone on this campus’? It fucking blows my mind that we could spend so much time together and, you still think I’m that shallow?”
‘No, you’re not. I’ve never once thought that. I don’t know what I’m saying right now. Why? Why? Why can’t I stop?’
“Well--” he began.
‘Please don’t. Just apologize.’ Kuroo hated feeling so trapped in his own body. It was like he’d been possessed.
“--you were with Oikawa Tooru for over two years. You know what they say about birds of a feather.”
‘No. Anything. Anything but that.’
The (Y/N) he knew, or thought he knew, was gone. She’d completely lost her composure and she gaped at him, wide eyed at his audacity. He thought since she was subdued most of the time, that meant that she only had one layer to her personality, and that was a mistake. The girl in front of him was all fire and passion and burning hot rage.
“How fucking dare you? You barely know him. You just know him by the mask he shows others and the way they treat him. Just like me. You don’t know either of us.”
(Y/N) stormed off towards the parking lot. Her friends tried to intercept her, but they soon pulled back after seeing the irate expression on her face. Kenma reached for her hand, which she snatched back. Looking over at where she was coming from, the dyed blonde locked eyes with his childhood friend. The setter shook his head in disappointment and took off after his roommate.

*breathes* I've been haunted by the "wait for me" trope; may I ask for a scenario where Todoroki's crush accidentally slips that she loves him, but he doesn't catch it and she leaves it hoping he doesn't think too much about it. But he does. And he realizes. So he brings her to talk and feelings are exchanged; he admits he loves her back but he's got a lot going on but he doesn't want to lose her, so if she's willing, would she wait for him? I'm really sorry if that's a lot to ask!
Decided to do some requests bc I’m still waiting on my doctors to figure shit out and its,,, taking forever so I’m running out of things to do that don’t have me doing too much alsjdalkd. I know it’s late on a lot of these but better late than never yeah?
Also I finally caught up with the manga oh my gods it’s been 5000 years
- Tiki
You stand there in complete silence- thoroughly mortified about what you had just let slip in such casual conversation. There’s no telling what could happen at this point and you weren’t sure if you should try to apologize or just own up to the fact that you had just accidentally confessed your feelings to Todoroki. For a second you weren’t even sure if he even heard you, until you looked over and saw his blue and brown eyes searching your face for any semblance- any indication that you had been lying, or joking, or something.
Todoroki didn’t look like he was going to say anything anytime soon, leaving you to hurry up and pick a course of action. He looks… uncomfortable, and actually a little flustered. Specifically, he even looks like he’s lost a bit of his cool/aloof nature and you’re very afraid you’ve actually ruined any sort of friendship the two of you even had. Is he mad?? Is he upset with you?? You scramble to think of what to say, and before you can stop yourself, words are pouring out of your mouth in a mad dash to keep whatever dignity and friendship you had left.
“Um!! I mean don’t think anything of what I just said… In fact, just forget I said anything alright??” You manage out, stumbling over a few words here and there.
NO response.
Crap, you’ve definitely fucked up. Surely this is where everything goes out the window and now it’s time to make a hasty retreat. So you scramble to get your things and get going, making your move to leave. As soon as you bid your quick goodbye in the form of a quiet squeak you feel the hold of his hand on your wrist, and look to see a look of utter confusion on his face matched with pleading eyes. You’ve never seen such a look on Todoroki’s face before and you’re unsure of what to even make of it. Out of habit you freeze and wait for whatever he looks like he’s about to say.
“I’m sorry, what did you mean? I’m a little confused…” He says, his face scrunching up a little bit as he looks lost in thought. You physically deflate at his words.
Oh GOOD he doesn’t actually know what you said thank g o d s. You let out a large sigh and force a sheepish smile onto your face, freeing your wrist from his grasp and waving your hand a bit.
“It’s okay Shouto! Don’t worry about it.” You say quickly, taking a step away. “I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?”
This time you don’t give him any room you stop you, and successfully make your retreat this time. You almost run back to the dorms, eager to find solace in the safety of your room and to wallow in your embarrassment by yourself, and rightfully so. You were still mortified with yourself, and are sure you wouldn’t be able to look Todoroki in the eyes the next few days. Gods... maybe if you were lucky he’d just forget about the whole thing altogether. But you’d never be that lucky. Todoroki was aloof but you were dead sure he wasn’t that aloof.
As soon as you were back to your dorm room you threw yourself on the bed and contemplated on whether you needed to fake your own death or not. Your over dramatic ass tried to list off friends who could possibly help you disappear, but figured you’d have a better chance just accepting what happened than trying to suddenly drop from the grid and become a hermit. Groaning into your pillow you roll over and set your alarms for tomorrow, deciding to sleep off your days events.
------
The alarms went off and you had to, unfortunately, get up and get ready to face the day. As soon as you brought your phone to your face and shut off the alarms to stop the assault on your poor eardrums, you found a text from Todoroki waiting for you, having been sent only a few minutes before you got up. As soon as you saw it waiting in your messages you could feel your soul leaving your body and the emergency systems in your brain start to malfunction. At some point you were sure someone could hear you screaming in your mind as you tapped on the message to read its contents.
‘Sorry it’s early, but could we talk before class?’
Quickly, you texted out a reply, making about 500 typos and then having to spend more time fixing them than actually typing it up. It didn’t help that you were hardly coherent from waking up about 2 minutes prior. Finally you had hit send and waited for a reply, biting your lip a little too hard.
‘Sure!! Same place as yesterday?’
‘That’s fine’
You practically shoot yourself out of bed to get dressed and make yourself look like you didn’t just sleep for about 15 hours because holy hell you were sure you looked like a disaster right now. I mean… you ARE a disaster, but you couldn’t let anyone actually k n o w, let alone Todoroki of all people good gods. So you shove on your uniform and haphazardly brush through your hair so you could quickly jump over to the bathroom and brush your teeth, put on deodorant, etc.
As you’re finishing up your flurry of things you realize you hadn’t asked when the hell you were supposed to be there, having just assumed that he meant as soon as possible. Well… if you went now you wouldn’t have to run the risk of running into anyone. So instead of confirming a time to be there, you decided to stick to your plan of getting there as soon as possible, not exactly caring if it was a little too early. Maybe you could find a vending machine somewhere and get a drink in case you had to wait…
You sighed and threw your bag over your shoulder, checking your phone as you exit your room and make your way down, and out of the dorms. Just as you had thought, not many people were up and you were lucky enough to slip past them and out the door without having to say a thing. Maybe they were also half asleep and just hadn’t the energy to talk yet. Either way you were grateful. With a quick pace you headed back to where you were yesterday- a small courtyard around the school grounds that you’d often study at if the weather permitted. After a while of being friends with Todoroki, the two of you had made it a habit to meet there and study together or just hang out between other things in your busy lives.
Rounding the corner you choked on your spit seeing Todoroki was already there, and you had to make peace with dying from choking as you avoided hacking up a lung and looking like a huge idiot. Just great… Your face was already red and your voice was going to sound stressed. And he must’ve heard your muffled choking noises because he turned around, his soft face catching the morning sun as he squinted to see you. So you hurried your way over for his sake, seeing as it would do neither of you any good if you just loafed around like a piece of wet lettuce.
“Um, hey!” You squeaked out, stopped just a bit in front of him. “So what did you want to talk about?”
There’s a pause, and you watch him shift his hands, like he isn’t sure what or where to put them. He settles for awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck, a blush dusting his cheeks as he struggles to look at you. You watch with much anxiety and anticipation, not used to… well… any of this.
“I realized what exactly you meant yesterday…” He starts, choosing his words carefully. “And I’m sorry I didn’t understand at first but…”
But??? But what?? Oh gods you knew it, you knew he was going to reject you- you knew you never stood a chance of ever being with someone like him. You knew… you’d start to cry sooner or later but as soon as you had the flood of thoughts scrambling for purchase through your head you could feel the tears pricking your eyes and the heaviness of rejection settling in your head.
“I’m not really good at… these kind of things.” He says simply, and part of you is relieved but you aren’t exactly sure that can stop steeling yourself for whatever he has to say. He looks up at you, eyes locking with yours, his gaze as heavy as your head felt and you find your breath catching in your throat. He sighs, looking away again before he begins to inch closer.
Todoroki reaches out and you resist the urge to shy away, knowing that if you did, you’d never be able to witness such tenderness from him again. So you move a bit closer on your own and meet him halfway. His right hand moves to cup the side of you face, thumb swiping over your cheek with a feeling that has you at a loss of words. You’re not even sure if you should speak right now, and wait for him to make his next move. Todoroki has a look of pure adoration of you in his eyes and you feel his hand waver a bit and a slight look of sadness flickers in his eyes for a quick second.
“I realized what you said and then I realized I…” He pauses his other hand going to cup the other side of your face, “I love you, too.”
The feeling is suffocating- his hands, his words, his face as it’s so close and so far from yours, and then the feeling in the pit of your stomach that has you thinking that it’s too good to be true. The warm blush that’s spread across your face has you feeling dizzy, like you can’t quite focus on anything but his touch, and the sound of his voice. You sigh prematurely and you watch him look away for a second.
“Shouto…” You breathe out.
“I love you so much, (Y/N), but I- we can’t be together right now.”
“Wh.. What?” You ask incredulously. “What do you mean?”
You can feel the tears pricking in your eyes again, and the sinking of your stomach as a pang grabs at the deepest depths of your chest. You could hardly keep your voice from wavering as you spoke. He can tell you’re upset, and surely this was just as hard for him to explain as it was for you to listen and accept it.
“Just, as I am now, I wouldn’t be able to be there for you. And we’re both still changing and growing so it wouldn’t be good for either of us.” He sighs, looking around like he’s anxious until he resumes, keeping his tender gaze with you and his hands still gently holding your face. “But I don’t want to lose you.”
It’s hard to keep the feelings buried in you so you let a sniffle out, and few tears roll down your face, which are quickly wiped away by the boy in front of you. You want so hard to hide your face- to bury it in your hands and hide the tears you’ve been trying so hard to keep back, but all you can do is reach up and grasp one the the hands Todoroki has cupping your face. You lean into his touch, nodding to his words as they slowly process in your mind.
“(Y/n),” He beckons your name so you’ll look up at him, giving you a small smile. “I know I’m asking a lot but, will you wait for me?”
It takes you a second to actually process any single word that he just said and you half blame the inebriated state that you’ve been in this whole time and the whirlwind of emotions that you’ve been through had you second guessing your comprehensive skills. And before he knew it, you had broken his hold on you and leapt into his arms, burying your face in whatever place you could put it. His arms circle around you and for a few moments the two of your stand there, completely content in each other’s presence. His face buries itself in your hair and he places a small kiss on the top of your head.
“Of course I’ll wait for you!” You gasp, pulling your head from his chest and making him lift his head. “I’ll wait as long as it takes.”
For a second he looks surprised as he looks down at you, like he didn’t expect you to say yes. And then a smile makes its way into his face, slowly, and he can’t help showing his delight. Without much warning he leans down and quickly presses his lips against yours. It’s quick, and in a way it’s very bitter sweet as you quickly go to reciprocate the affection, knowing full well it’ll be the last you’ll ever get in a while. You try to embed into your mind the feeling of his lips on yours, and you know very well that he is probably doing just the same. The tickling shiver that flutters up your spine is foreign, but definitely not unwelcome and part of you wonders when you’ll be able to indulge in something like this everyday. And just as you thought, the moment the two of you part, you feel a loss at the lack of contact.
You feel Todoroki’s breath fan across your face and resist the urge to lean back in for another kiss. And so the two of you part further, going back to standing together, and somehow acting like that didn’t just happen. You share a look with him and with a nod the two of you head off to class, Todoroki looking like he’s puffed up a little, probably due to the fact that he didn’t think you’d say yes. You found it endearing, to say the least.
There’s nothing much to say as you walk, a comfortable silence, and you find yourself still a little confused in your feelings. Sure you’re still muddled in sadness at the fact that were both rejected and not rejected at the same time. You weren’t quite sure where to place anything in your heart just yet. The only thing you knew is that you’d have to wait for him, for however long it takes. And you were just fine with that.

Crushes? What are those?
Tumblr media
Pairing: Reader x Lee Felix (Stray Kids) Platonic
Genre: Fluff and angst
Warnings: Mild language...? I guess that's all.
Summary: You're just a normal student with normal student struggles and concerns. But was questioning your sexuality just a common student concern or just yours? Thankfully your best friend is there to help you out.
----
Lately you've been feeling a bit stressed. School has been burning you out constantly and is definitely not showing any sings on stopping. All kinds of fun things kept pressing on you. (Note the sarcasm). It will pass, you reminded and huffed, gathering your stuff to go to the next class, even though you knew that the teacher's lecture would fall to deaf ears and the scribbles on the chalkboard wouldn't make any sense. At least you could pretend that they did.
The school bell rang, finally releasing you from that awful class that bore you to death. It was finally lunch time. You and your friendgroup quickly scrambled to the cafeteria, your jackets and backpacks hanging all over the place as you ran through the campus. Finally, you felt like you could breathe. A light smile tugged on your chapped lips as you thought that the school day would be over soon.
At the lunch table, you and your friends chatted on all kinds of stuff.
"Oh my god, did you see Jihoon? He's so hot!" Your friend, Dahae squelead, while not so subtly pointing at the said boy. Jihoon was too busy to notice it though. You silently thanked Gods for that. You weren't in the mood of looking at yout friend flailing her arms all over the place and embarras herself. Your other friend agreed Dahae's nonsense with a giggle. Usually it would've brought an easy smile to your lips, but not today.
"What do you think, Y/N? Which one is hotter, Jihoon or Minjun? Namseon is crazy and thinks that Minjun is hotter", Dahae said, while pointing at Namseon. You bit your lip and sighed.
"I...I don't know... I really don't think either of them are too attractive", you said, shifting in your seat uncomfortably and kept your eyes on the tray in front of you. Dahae gasped and shoved you a bit.
"Why are you so picky? Honestly what's wrong with you? I haven't seen you crush on anyone in years!" She exclaimed. You flinched a bit. That one hit a sore spot. You felt all sorts of thoughts and emotions crash on you. 'Is something wrong with me? Why haven't I liked anyone? What is wrong with me' you thought. After the insecurities and anxiety had had their turn of playing with you, anger seeped in. You clenched your fists and grinded your teeth.
"Why does it matter to you, who I like?" you seethed at Dahae. The girl flinched at your angry tone and stared at you.
"U-uh.. I was just wondering", the girl said.
"Well don't. It is not your business", you snapped back. Namseon butted in:
"Why are you so angry all of a sudden? What's wrong with you? You know she was just playing around." You moved your fiery gaze onto her.
"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? Assuming things about my love life and then making it sound like there is somethig wrong with me! Like I'm abnormal! Who cares about boys or whatever! You two keep acting like mindless children with crushes and you ask me what is wrong with me!" you hissed. Namseon and Dahae stared you in surprise, but you weren't able to feel sorry.
"Are you a lesbian?" Dahae blurted out dumbly. Something snapped inside you, tears started to flood into your eyes and making your field of vision blurry. Your whole body shook in anger.
"No! Why would you even ask that?" And with that, you stormed out of the cafeteria.
The rest of the school day, you didn't neccesesarily avoid your friend, you just didn't take them into your notice. You felt a bit sorry for blowing up on them so suddenly, but at the same time you didn't. The 'what's wrong with me' -questions continued to bother you through out the rest of the school day. Lectures seemed to last longer and you felt like screaming. The more you thought about Dahae and Namseon's words, the more you realized your differences between you and them. You hadn't liked anyone in years. Not a girl, not a boy or even a soul for that matter. What was going on? The school day ended and you left the campus, without looking back. You were thanful that the weekened was finally starting.
You didn't have any room to think about your friends really, not when your other friend finally had some time to spend with you. Lee Felix, your best friend, finally had a break in his busy schedule and was coming over to spend the weekend with you. Your heart jumped in delight in your chest, when you even thought of all the thing you could do together: catching up and talking about Stray Kids together, play some games and watch movies. To say that you were excited was an understatement. Little did you know, this night wasn't going to be just all giggles and rainbows.
The doorbell rang and you jumped up from your bed. You dashed to the hallway, stumbling roughly. You had definitely gotten up way too quickly, now your vision was filled with black dots, ears ringing and head pounding. You had to lean on the wall in hopes of support, until the light headedness would ease enough for you to move again, without the risk of falling to your face or walking into a wall. After you regained your vision, you catiously went to open the door for your best friend. Your heart was fluttering in excitement. You threw the door open briskly, smiling brightly at Felix's flustered self. After he recovered from the near heart attack experience, he too started to smile so beautifully and brightly that it could easily rival the sun's brightness.
"Hey!!" you exclaimed, not waiting any longer and basically crashing into his arms. He wheezed a bit, but still wrapped his arms around you gladly. You both were smiling dumbly, but neither of you didn't want to let go of each other. After some time, you did let go and walked into your apartment. Then you shifted your sparkling eyes to him:
"Tell me everything. How's life treating you?" you asked. Felix smiled affectionally at you and ruffled your hair. You couldn't bring yourself to even care, all what mattered now was that Felix was there with you. Talking with you, face to face. Interecting with you physically, not through the screen of your phone. You just smiled.
The night was finally arraving, the darkness settling in, but that didn't bother you or Felix. Not in the slightest. You had helped Felix unpack and talking about how he was doing. He was happy to talk and vent a bit, now to someone who wasn't part of the group and also wasn't in the indrustry. You could think that he would prefer talking about these things with someone who was in the music indrustry. But not this time, it was refreshing to have someone giving him new viewpoints and just... Rant. Also, you just always understood. You were quite empathic, you didn't need to be experiencing these things to know what Felix tried to express. You were quick to pick up on those little ques and quite frankly, you were an expert at reading people. And somehow, you knew your ways with words. In conclusion, you were easy to talk to. He couldn't be more greatful.
But the air changed, when Felix asked about your life. You were tense, quickly reminded about the drama, that went down in the cafeteria. You sighed and leaned your face onto your knees.
"Is everything okay?" Felix asked, voice filled with concern and his usually smiley face was now frowning. You bit your lip, weighing and thinking of each option. Should you really bother Felix with this? You, yourself, didn't know what was going on, so how were you supposed to explain anything. On the other hand, Felix might have an answer. But what if it was petty.
"I don't know, Felix", you said quietly, frustrated and desperate. Felix leaned closer to you on the sofa.
"I'll listen and you vent. Then let's try to find the problem and a possible solution for it", he suggested. You swallowed thickly. You panicked a bit. You knew it was stupid to even panic about this, it was Felix for god's sake! You have shared your weirdest 2am thoughts with him and talked about strangest topics possible and here you were, panicking about something stupid like this. It wasn't supposed to be bothering at all!
Thankfully Felix had become good at reading you. He saw how you were becoming more and more panicked and distressed. He then decided to grab you gently and pull you to his lap, hugging you close to his chest, knowing that you felt safer when you were held. Your head started to clear up slowly, as you dipped your head so that your nose was pressed against Felix's neck. You breathed his scent and held onto him.
"You're okay, Y/N", he whispered lowly, grip tightening on you. You nodded hastily against him and breathed out again. After some time, you finally pulled away. You looked at Felix with tired eyes. He held your hands tightly and nodded at you, encouraging you to talk.
"Lately... I've had these um... Weird thoughts", you started, voice tired but your cheeks were getting pink. Felix took a notice of them, but didn't point them out. He simply just waited for you to continue.
"I don't know how to else to put it, but... I'm so confused about my sexuality. I haven't liked anyone in years Felix! I haven't even thought of anyone in that way! Well... More like in any way! I just know that I don't mind the idea of being together with a girl, a boy or even a genderless person. But I don't know! I could be just thinking about it like it now. As if I didn't bother myself with those questions enough, my friends decided to... I don't know trying to figure out and judging my love life out of nowhere... Well, more like the lack of it.
They started acting like I was abnormal for not having a crush or finding some people attractive. Then they basically said that there was something wrong with me! I exploded on them... All Dahae could say at the end of it all 'are you a lesbian?' ",you ranted, chest heaving up and down as tears gathered in your eyes and finally falling. Sobs started to escape your mouth as you cried. It felt so good to finally share your thoughts, but you were still confused and a bit mad at your friend for assuming stuff. You leaned your head against Felix's chest and cried. He started rubbing your back comfortingly and started whispering sweet words of reassuarance and encouragment. He felt all kinds of emotions stirring inside of him. He was mad how insentive your friends had been and he was also worried. For how long had you been holding this all in?
After you calmed down enough, he started speaking softly to you:
"It's okay to be confused, not to know. You have your whole life ahead of you and most definitely have time to figure this all out. And I can bet on my life, that you also have time to accept yourself and perhaps fall in love. You've got all the time in the world." You sniffled and didn't say anything for a moment. Just let yourself think.
"Am I gay?" The question just slipped before you could stop it.
"You might be. You shouldn't take so much pressure of it though. Labeling yourself, I mean. These things will get resolved with time. Just let me know, when you do get a crush!" Felix said, smiling gently. You smiled tearfully and chuckled airily.
"When did you get so wise? I was supposed to be the wise one!" you laughed. Felix laughed as well and replied:
"I become extremely wise, when your brains stop working. Someone has to back the other up!" You jabbed him in the ribs. He groaned a bit and rubbed his side tenderly.
"No but seriously, I think we can both agree that we are both weird crackheads", Felix said.
"We just have our moments too", he continued. You smiled and nodded in agreement. When you two weren't acting like idiots, you did know how to serious. That just made you two special.
"You should make up with Dahae and Namseon too, you know."
"Shut up, dumbass. Just let me hug you in peace, thank you very much."

messages thanks for the request! sorry for fast scene changes, i couldn’t help it i guess? it’s not really proofread, and i don’t know if this is what you really wanted, and the time is late...... so hope you like it :))?
Tumblr media
New year, new semester, new class, new classmates. This is year didn’t seem to be any positive for you, since all of your friends were separated from you in 8 different classes. They were screaming across the hallways how they’re in the same classes, but you couldn’t join them.
It wasn’t your luckiest day either. You look down to the poorly stuck bandage on your knee, ready to fall any moment you bend your knees to get up the stairs. It stinged badly, since you didn’t apply anything else onto the bare scar.
Everything happened so fast in the morning: before school to be more exact. You ruffled your hair in frustration trying to remember who it was involved in the case, but there was only a blurry vision of a him inside your memory. You remembered tripping over him by not watching your own way, until where you ignored his apology to head to your home class.
How much of a jerk would that guy be thinking you are? You slightly bumped your fist to your forehead for discipline. You couldn’t believe the first day as a grade 12 could be such a disaster.
“Ugh!” by the sudden groan, the eyes of every people in the hallway shot towards you. Clapping your hand to your mouth, your ‘sorry’ muffled under them. Standing in front of the class door you’ve never been, you sight. You peaked through the opened door, before entering the class of staring eyes.
The class seemed to be crowded with people who you’ve never talked (though they were in some of your classes), people already divided into groups they were comfortable with. You couldn’t choose where to fit in, leading you to the seat in the front row, where no one wanted to sit.
In awkwardness you only fidget with the edge of your white tennis skirt, rustling them. Your head was drawing plans of various ways you could escape from here, but it was too late by now. “Hi, is this seat taken?”
“Huh? No-” By the sudden question from an unfamiliar voice, your eyes lifted up, lost. Beside you were two boys, already settling themselves to the empty seats on your right. “Uh, hi.” By your constant stare, the boy who seemed to have asked you the question raised an eyebrow, before making eye contacts with his friend.
They were signalling and mouthing each other silently, and it wasn’t your area of experty to figure out what it was about. It was something you could’ve taken as an offensive, but you didn’t. Instead, you stayed silent, eyes blinking several times during a second, then rolling left to right.
The very first thing you’ve noticed about them was their physical looks. They both looked different but sure they were handsome; one of them had his natural black hair, and the other had them dyed brown - gelled mostly to the left side of his face. Both of them seemed to have similar tastes in fashion too.
Even though you haven’t met them much anywhere around the school, somehow they didn’t look that foreign to you at all. In fact - after taking a closer look - you exactly knew who they were: Jaemin and Jeno. The kids from your elementary school. One of them - Jaemin - being your first crush, and the first to decline your confession.
When your eyes met, you turn around sharply without a clear spot to keep your eyes at. You felt the tip of the ears burning, even though that was 5 years ago. You couldn’t believe how much they’ve grown, but you didn’t point that out since the three of you haven’t talked to each other since the confession. It was funny to find that Jaemin and Jeno still stuck with each other wherever they went.
The class went silent after the entrance of the teacher, starting the class with her fluent Japanese; where none seemed to understand but herself. For the following hours before lunch, you’re eyes couldn’t help but keep on glimpsing at Jaemin, who seemed to be very conscious of you.
“Hey,” turning around from the door, you see Jaemin holding a pair of new bandage and an ointment keeping a distance. “It’s not gonna help if you only put bandage on it.” you follow his eyes down to your knees, where there was now a gap between the scar and the bandage, blood dried off.
Tucking the disturbing hair behind your ears, you take them with shaking hands.“Oh. Thank you.” Flustered by the sudden kindness, your thank you once again sink down as you say them. When did he even see that? you wondered. Feeling the sudden wind as Jaemin passed by you, you stare down at the bandages where you notice something.
‘you didn’t get hurt more than that from the fall, did you? how’s your shoulders’
For God sake.
You bury your face into your hands, embarrassed. No wonder why he knew that. It was Jaemin who you bumped in earlier in the morning, and yet you never realized it. Until now.
“Today’s weather is…….” you hesitate your sentence spoken with your poor japanese, looking outside the window. The sun covered by the gray clouds, and soft snow was enjoying its way down to the floor, piling themselves everywhere. “Snowy.”
Even after the short speech, your eyes were mesmerized at the gorgeous view; not even paying attention at Jaemin’s calling. Blinking in confusion, you wait for him to continue. “Do you have time after school? We can go get hot chocolate,”
You didn’t know why, but Jeno’s giggle seemed to be a hint.
The library wasn’t that silent at all. You could clearly hear laughters from somewhere, blasting of music through earphones, or some whispers like how Jaemin did. You were sitting side-by-side with Jaemin at a desk, with scattered paper.
You take a glimpse of Jaemin who was focusing on marking your quiz (that he has prepared for you) with your red pen, as you take a gulp of water. Your disappointment still couldn’t calm themselves, as you recalled in the mornings; where he asked you if you had time after school.
How stupid of you to be expecting something like a date. It was just him casually asking your available time for tutor, while grabbing a cup of hot chocolate for himself (and you).
He didn’t seem to be caring at all; and that was exactly what disturbed you the most. Does he really not remember me? Perhaps it was the braces you’ve taken off, or the thick black framed glasses you no longer wore.
Or maybe he was not acting like he remembered you on purpose. For what? Letting you feel less embarrassed? Whatever his reason was, it didn’t seem to help you by anyhow. Am I overreacting? Is it really just me who is caring about all of this? Shaking your head, you let yourself sink onto the table, pouting.
“Y/N, ‘Iku’ means to go, and for here it’s ‘iu’. Which means to say.” Jaemin catches your attention, meeting your eyes at an awkward moment of you focusing on observing him. Coughing dryly, you stand up tall trying to act normal. “Where?”
“Here.” Jaemin pointed beside number 34 with a red X, where you sigh due to your stupidity. “I swear it looked like iku…….” Your voice trailed off. Jaemin laughed softly as he handed back your paper, after writing 65% on top. “At least you’re getting there.” He messed around with your hair by ruffling, as you groan in annoyance.
The only subject you were lacking behind from all 8 was japanese. It wasn’t your fault on not being so great at catching up with new languages. And the only reason you weren’t either failing or dropping out was because of Jaemin. He wasn’t as fluent as a native japanese; still he was a fast-learner. After Jeno’s success on getting an A from Jaemin’s tutoring, he agreed with tutoring you after school for free.
You comb your messed up hair, as you grab your pencil to write down the words you’ve gotten wrong on the notebook. It was weird meeting Jaemin somewhere else rather than the small japanese class, in the front row. In fact he was studying for biology while teaching you japanese at the same time.
“You take biology?” you ask cautiously, fixing the test paper so that you could see it better. “Yeah, I take both chem and bio.” he replied coolly, taking out his phone to google one of the questions. With curiosity, you tried to peek what it was, but failed.
“I take biology too. What, uh, coincidence.” It wasn’t your first time willing to slap yourself from how bad you were at continuing conversations with him. Jaemin let out a soft laugh, “Yeah, what coincidence. Do you have Mr. E?” you nod at his question, thanking him for leading the awkward conversation.
Guess people doesn’t change that much, you concluded, staring at Jaemin focusing on reading the passage related to viruses. Somehow, it overlaps with the grade 7 Jaemin, reading the book you’ve recommended him. It makes you blush in a second, unable to contain it.
The sky wasn’t as dark as it was when it was winter, though it was the same time: 5 pm. “Thanks, again, for helping me with japanese.” you say, as both of you stopped where the road splitted into three ways. Jaemin flashed a smile, which was charming as ever. “No, problem. So see you tomorrow too?”
Your heart thumped, and you hiccuped to the beat of it. “See you tomorrow too.” You were pretty sure you won’t be able to sleep tonight.
Time flew fast; from red, orange, and gold into white and pastel blue. Then white and pastel blue into pink and light green. You were in the spring seasons, which were the hardest and the laziest time period of the school year. You hoped spring break would come any faster than right now, willing to enjoy the walk under the cherry blossoms before it withers away.
The ugly purple bruise left from the fall was completely gone, blending back into your skin color. And yet you still haven’t overcome with the bruise. The embarrassing moments that included Jaemin were hard to erase. It’s been over the 100th tutor class with him already, but you couldn’t help feel like being distances away from Jaemin.
Jaemin was still the same. How he laughed, how he talked, and how he made you flutter. It seemed to be in his blood. And it was in your blood to fall over for him again. How he flashed a smile whenever your eyes met, asking you what you ate for lunch, and out of them, today was the most critical. He asked for your phone number, though he added the sentence ‘it’s for tutoring’. But you screamed from his ‘hi this is jaemin’ anyways.
“Hey, one-sided love girl there he comes. With a girl.” Donghyuck, your best friend, pointed out Jaemin with his chin, who was walking towards you, while talking with Jeno and a girl. A girl. “Why are you telling me this!” You made a sharp turn from the panic, causing you to bump into one of the lockers, hard.
You really wished you could pass through walls, as you heard Donghyuck laughing on the floor. You were pretty sure Jaemin heard and saw you banging into the locker. Meanwhile, Donghyuck was leaning on you for help with standing up from laughing too hard, wiping off fake tears. “Seriously, Y/N. You’re still in love with him.”
“Shut up,” you snapped. “I know.” But the point is, he doesn’t seem to remember me.
“Do you know who that girl is?” you ask, face still buried in the locker. “Oh, she’s Jeno’s cousin. Don’t worry she’s already taken by a senior guy named Doyoung. Why, jealous much?” Donghyuck raised his eyebrows in interest of good news, nudging you with his elbow. You only replied him with punching your fist on his shoulder.
“How do you know all that?”
“That’s because I don’t have anything I don’t know.”
Today was the day. You’ve been standing in front of the mirror for a good 15 minutes, posing and checking how you looked like in the ivory dress with blue flowers patterns. Yesterday afternoon, Jaemin texted you on meeting him at the cafe for further tutoring. It was a big step, since he was seeing you outside of school.
[he’s totally flirting with you] Donghyuck texted back with a rolling eye emoji at the end, making you only groan in embarrassment. Looking at the clock almost striking 12, you hurry. “I’m going to be late,” you grab your backpack, and rush out of the door.
Arriving at the cafe, you see Jaemin has already sat down going over his notes, with the drinks ready. You inhale and exhale deep, before opening the door with the bells ringing. “You’re early,” you say casually, settling yourself beside him.
“Yeah, it’s just my house being near.” you nod at his words, flipping your notebook to an empty page, ready for the new chapter. “Have you revised what we did from last week?” you drop your mouth open, pushing away the drink from you, while looking away.
“It’s okay, we can go over it right now.” Jaemin giggled, taking a sip from his drink, and you shyly laughed, adding a ‘thanks’ behind.
It was 3pm sharp, and already the place the two of you were at have changed. After a 3-hours straight tutor, you’ve agreed on hanging around with Jaemin until dinner, which was still a lot of time from now. The two of you headed to a karaoke room, and you were the first to choose a song. Though you weren’t very confident in your singing skills.
After all, it was the first time ever to be hanging out with only the two of you.
Holding a Subway sandwich in each other’s hands, Jaemin companied you until you arrived at your house. It was only 6, the sun still outside. But you didn’t complain about him by your side, silently digging into the leftover sandwich.
“Jaemin I have a question,” it was impossible for the dry sandwich to slide down your throat, and the atmosphere got quieter from your question. “What is it?” Jaemin asks, covering his mouth to swallow his bite of the sandwich.
“Do you remember me?” you ask. “Huh?” Jaemin looked at you with confused eyes, and now you were the one to refuse to look into his eyes now. “Do you remember me,” you repeat. Your minds went blank completely, shutting down your body right away, stiff. How do I continue from here? Your mouth dried up instantly, though you’ve applied lip balm on them.
“I don’t know if you remember me, but I do.” You were sure of the consequences later on, but you continued anyway. You felt your lips quiver by his sudden stare. “I still remember clearly from elementary. Remember how you said sorry to my confession? I thought I was over you since then, but now there’s you, who seemed to have never changed. I’m sorry to make things more awkward when we finally get a chance to talk again, but I can’t help it anymore. I like you, Jaemin.”
You realize it was only you who were continuing the steps, already at the other side of the road. And Jaemin wasn’t able to cross the crosswalk by the flash of the stop light. After the wait of perhaps a minute or so, you see him running towards you.
“No, I do remember you. I do, very clearly. It was just me who was embarrassed to ask if you really was you.” his deep voice stopped the time around you, though you could clearly see the vehicles moving. “I know I said sorry to your confession, and I- I regret about that. I like you too, Y/N. I’ve been waiting to say it for so long.”
Your eyes only get widened from his unexpected confession. He was grinning at you, sliding his hand down from your wrist to your hand. You wondered if he was feeling the heart rate when he grabbed your wrist, blood rushing around your body while you just stopped breathing.
“Jaemin, I’m confused,” you finally open your mouth, expressing your confusion. “Y/N, I liked you since young.”
A smile grew on your face, and you couldn’t stop it from growing it larger. He smiled too, just like the smile you fell for when you were young.
“So... can I hold your hand right now?”

YOUNG: PART 3 ( COLE X READER)
SUMMARY: Cole’s peace of mind is disturbed as he wonders why you’re acting so differently these days. He starts hinting Jealousy as you spend more time with KJ and not with him.  Also, Kate spills some tea you didn’t want ! The ending will leave you bawling ;)
A/N: Omg I have so much to tell you guys :D I don’t know why, I feel like you’re all my friends ^^. Ok, first,  I’m so sorry for the late update for this one! I actually wrote it way back but the stupid wifi wouldn’t let me post it so yeah -_-. But anyways, I love how it came out and I loved writing this one! I hope you like it !!! PS I will do the requests after I’m done with this series :) I will wind this story up with one last chapter.
-
It’s 10:30pm.
Cole and KJ are inside their two bedroom guest room they managed to get in the Boy’s block. KJ is busy with his Poetry assignment while Cole seems lost in his reverie.
“Is everything okay with (Y/N)?” Cole questions KJ.
KJ gives him a weird look, “How would I know? I thought you guys were tight.”
“Nah. Something seemed off about her today.”
“Seemed fine to me,” KJ returns to his poetry.
“Oh,” Cole goes back to his reverie wondering why the girl who always looked at him like he put the stars in the sky suddenly seems to have found other stars instead.
“Are you sure she didn’t mention anything?” Cole questions KJ again.
“Why don’t you just ask her instead? Honestly, I didn’t notice a difference,”
“Oh,”
Weird. (Y/N) never turned down his requests, ever. When she said no, Cole knew something was definitely up.
“So she’s okay, right? She’s fine,”
KJ puts his pen down,”Dude, are you in love with her or something?”
Cole scoffs, “Me? In love? Please,” he continues,”She was just always there, you know? As a friend. So I never saw her in that way,”
“Great. So if you don’t love her, why are you so bothered? Let me do my homework in peace, for pete’s sake!”
“Oh, sorry.”
Yeah, Why am I so bothered, Cole questions himself. His thoughts soon get interrupted by Kate’s call.
He rolls his eyes, Girls. It’s all fun and games as long as no feelings are involved.
-
5:00am
You jog up to the Kingsville Hilltop early morning to catch the sunrise. As you lie down in exhaustion while waiting for the sun to rise, you feel the presence of another company. An unfamiliar one.
“KJ?”
“Good morning to you, too”
You’re surprised, not in a bad way, just surprised since you never encountered any other person other than Cole up here.
“Man, the view is stunning.”
“Yes, it is. How did you find this place?”
“I was just going for a run and here I am,”
You nod. Seems legit.
“What are you guys doing here?” you hear a voice exclaim from behind.
Cole.
“Is it like a taboo to be up here? (Y/n) just asked me the same thing. “ KJ retorts,”Join us”
Cole looks at you and then at KJ and then at you, before finally saying,”Nah, i’ll leave you guys alone.”
Odd.
Did he look jealous?
-
You love Wednesdays. Wednesdays are your days, mostly because you only have one class, i.e, English Literature class at 1pm and NOTHING ELSE! You’re free all day. You decide to skip breakfast and sleep instead after being completely drained from the jog this morning.
You got up pretty late- around 10am!
“Whoa, that was some good sleep.”
Since you have 3 more hours before English class starts, you decide to take a long shower and head for lunch.
After finally making up your mind to move on from Cole, you feel so liberated.  Heartbroken, but free.
You decide to wear your favourite colour today since Wednesdays are off-unifrom days (another reason why you like Wednesdays so much!).
There’s nothing more serene than going about the entire day in your favourite colour.
You gather your literature notes and head straight to the Dine first! Gosh, you’re starved. Shouldn’t have missed breakfast, huh!
-
At the library
“Thought I might find you here,”
You look up to find a very happy looking Cole. He takes the seat across you.
“So, what are you working on?” he asks.
“Quiet!” the librarian gives the two of you a sharp look, making you giggle.
“Um, just english,” you quietly answer.
“(Y/n),”
“Yeah?”
“Is everything okay?”
You almost lost your breath for a sec there. Don’t do that, Cole! Don’t ask me things like that.
“Of course,” you give him a small smile,”Why do you ask?”
“No reason. Missed your face at breakfast,”
That. Don’t say things like that and eat some other girl’s face. Like, COLE STOP DOING THAT.
Normally, you would’ve blurted a ‘Aw, I missed you too!’ but that was the naïve (Y/n). This is the new you. You just smile in response and look down at your English homework.
The atmosphere is so different than usual. Even earlier this morning when he bumped into you and KJ at the hilltop, it was so odd. Usually, you’d feel so comfortable around him and he with you, but there’s just so-
“Cole!!!” you hear a high pitched voice call Cole from a distance.
“QUIET!” the librarian instructs again.
Kate. Ugh.
You roll your eyes at her sight. Cole waves at her and she excitedly makes her way to your table.
She quickly takes the seat next to Cole, “What are you guys working on?”
“English.”
“Nothing.”
“Uh, nevermind” Kate moves closer to Cole, “Where were you all day! I missed you”
You want to barf. You pretend to concentrate on your homework instead.
Girl, you need to chill. It’s only 11am. How can you miss him all day when it hasn’t even been half a day yet?
Cole looks nervously at you but you pretend not to notice and focus on your writing.
“Nowhere, I was just..” he murmurs.
“Oh my god, I just remembered! (Y/n) and you used to date way back in 9th grade, right?” Kate exclaims.
You widen your eyes, “Uhh..”
Kate scoffs, “Just playing with you, (Y/n). Cole already told me that it was just an act!”
Wow, what? You were just doing Cole a favour when you agreed to be his pretentious girlfriend and you both promised not to let the word out to anyone ( that it was just a façade). He was the one who made you promise!
And now…
“Oh, wow. “ You shoot him a look, he looks flustered.
“(Y/N), I wasn’t-“ he tries to talk to you but you cut him off.
“I wonder what else he told you. I’m curious!” you close your book and act all interested towards Kate.
“Nothing much. He did tell me that you didn’t have any boyfriend in high school so he decided to go out with you. I think that was very sweet of him to do su-“
Ouch.
You fall back on your chair and look down at your sweaty palms. You refuse to look up. You clench your fists tight, you don’t want tears falling out- especially in front of the boy you once made the mistake of loving.
“No,no,no, that wasn’t want I-“
“(y/n), there you are! I was wondering if you and I could-“ KJ comes in at the right time.
You grab the opportunity and get up from your seat, “Sure, I would love to!”
Cole stands up, “(Y/N), you don’t have to leave. I –“
“I want to,” you grab your books, “I want to leave.”
-
“Is everything okay?” Kj asks you.
Earlier in the library, he wanted to know if you were free to go  to a café nearby school premises. He had already taken permission from the Dean. Since you didn’t want to spend any blistering second under the same roof as Cole, you decided to skip English and go with KJ.
Man, you cannot believe Cole, and the things he told Kate.
It’s like you never knew him.
He pretended to date me because no one else would?
“(Y/n)”
“Ah, sorry, yes. Everything is fine. Just a lot of things on my mind.”
“You wanna talk about it?” he asks
“Not really…” you quietly answer.
“Cool, because I was thinking maybe we coul talk about Wordsworth instead because I have a scene in the new movie where I have to recite 5 poems and I don’t have i-“
You snicker,”Slow down, slow down. I’ll help you, of course.”
Phew.
You spent the entire evening drinking tea and talking about Poetry. Two of your favourite things at the same time. Talking about poetry made you completely forget the betrayal you felt with Cole. It brought an inner peace in you and you enjoyed it so much; you never did it before- you know, talk about poetry to someone so eagerly interested. So much so, KJ already learnt the 5 poems by heart by the time you were done.
The sun went down way sooner than you thought it would. It was already 6pm by the time you finished drinking your 4th cup of tea.
“We should prolly get back to school now,” KJ says and you agree.
-
When you reach the campus, you’re met by the sight of Cole standing outside the lawn area, leaning against his Car, you assume, with his hands folded. He didn’t look jolly.
KJ pulls out the door for you, “Thanks, KJ”
Cole’s eyes widen at the sight of you and KJ.
“NO, THANK YOU. You’ve been a great help. I should get going now,”
You nod.
“Yo, Cole! You coming?” KJ calls out to Cole.
“Later,” Cole replies.
“Goodnight, KJ” you quietly utter and give him a quick hug. Cole still standing there in the same posture.
Although his presence is making you feel a little eerie, you honestly don’t even have anything to say to him. So you decide to ignore his presence completely and head straight to your block.
“I’ve been waiting,”
You pause and turn back.
He unfolds his hand and moves away from the car. He looks up at you,”I’ve been waiting. For you.”
So what if he had been waiting? You never told him to. It’s not his business to.
You decide he’s not worth it.
You turn away from his gaze and continue to make your way to your block.
“(Y/n)!, wait!” Cole yells.
You fold your hands and turn towards him. You give him a blank look.
“I need to tell you something,” he finally blurts, trying to ignore your eyes.
“Okay,”
“Uhm, about what Kate said earlier, I didn’t mean it that way. She asked me why I chose you to be my girlfriend and I just said you were single that time so I asked you. I didn’t-“
“You made me promise not to tell anyone that it was an act and now you’re-“ you increase your tone, obviously sounding pissed.
“I know, I know, I’m sorry. I wasn’t at my right state of mind. I’m sorry. I’m sorry, (y/n). You know I would never hurt you. Ever.”
Not intentionally.
“I forgive you. Goodnight,” you try to leave again.
It’s not even worth it.
“Wait, (y/n)!”
You turn around , “What is it again?”
He walks closer towards you. His green-bluish eyes looking softer than usual.
“Is everything okay, (y/n)?”
Don’t look at me like that.
You push yourself away from him, increasing the distance between the two of you. You try to avoid his gaze as you reply,”Yeah, everything is okay.”
“Doesn’t seem okay to me..” He looks at you, you try to avoid his eyes and stand still without any response.
“But then again how would I know? You’re always with KJ anyway, you even ditched me the o-“
You scoff,” Are you serious? You have Kate and all the other girls and you’re mad at me for spending little time with KJ?”
He shakes his head,”That’s not the point..”
“Then what is, Cole?” you increase your tone,”What is the point?”
“The point is, (y/n), I don’t know what’s gotten into me but I don’t like seeing you with someone else when I’M HERE. I don’t want you going to the hilltop without me, I don’t want you leaving school premises without me, I don’t” he loses his breath,” I just, I want you to spend every minute with me for as long as I’m here,” he blurts out almost immediately.
You’re not sure if  your heart was fluttering or breaking after hearing what he just said.
“And then what?” you soften your tone as put your head down and  look at the ground, instead of his eyes, because you don’t want him to see the tears forming in your eeys.
“What do you mean?”
You take a deep breath and lift your head up. Wiping away the tears from your eyes, you look at his stunned face,”What happens after you leave again? What am I supposed to do? Cry myself to sleep again because the memories of you never ever stop haunting me? Play pretend and act like you’re still wandering in the hallway somewhere? Search for your face in every goddamn crowd even though I know you’re gone like gone? Do you think its easy for me, Cole? Do you think I’m willing to put myself through all that again for someone who could never figure out that his best friend was in love with him?” you choke on your own tears, ”and that he couldn’t even see how her eyes screamed ‘stay’ when he left her without a care in the world?”
You sob and quickly wipe away your tears.
Damn, you can’t believe you just said that!
“(Y/N), I-“
You cut him off,”And that is why, Cole, I can’t and I don’t want to spend one more minute with you. Because if I did, I would fall for you, again. And for all I know, you won’t catch me. Again.”
Having said everything you had kept bottled up for years, you feel a hint of serenity amidst all the mess. Holding your heart and tears together, you quickly rush inside your block, leaving Cole wondering if he just lost the love of his life.

Never Enough (College AU) part 2
Y/N Y/L/N is the most popular girl in school. Her life seems picture perfect and there is nothing she could want more. Or is there? And what role does the biggest nerd in school Bucky Barnes have in her life? Stay tuned and find out!
 Wordcount: 2403
 Pairing: Bucky x Reader
Warnings: None that I am aware of.
A/N: Sorry it took so long guys. I do not have any discipline at all and I’m lazy as fuck. My apologies.
Tumblr media
It has been three weeks since the incident with Bucky and really nothing’s changed. You don’t bully him anymore but that’s about it.
After you had brought Bucky to the schools nurse you went back to the cafeteria where Pietro and Nat were waiting for you.  As you stood in front of them, waiting for them to speak up first, you crossed your arms and a frown appeared on your face. After almost five minutes you realized that you would have to be the one to start the conversation and spoke up.
“What the hell is wrong with you two!?” At this both of them finally looked up at you.
“He was touching you! He had his fucking hands on your waist. I’m your boyfriend Y/N, I am supposed to scare other guys away.” Defended Pietro.
“First of all, yes he had his hands on my waist, but that was to prevent me from falli-“
“He was the one that made you fall in the first place!” Sad Natasha. You gave her a stern look that silenced her.
“Accidents happen. Where was I? Yes, and second of all: you are allowed to scare them off, not break every bone in their body for saving me from a nasty fall! And Natasha, I had expected a little more of you instead you just crouched next to his face and started to say these terrible things to him. Things that I don’t even say to my sister, and that should say a lot!” They both had seemed to lose their interest in you and instead focused on their shoes.
“You know what? I’m going home and let you think about this. You can talk to me again when you feel like apologizing to me and especially to Bucky!” After saying that you stormed off and took the bus home. That evening, much to your mothers dismay, Pietro stopped by to apologize and swore he’d done the same with Bucky. The next morning Natasha was there to pick you up and apologized too.
And right now you were sitting in your arts class. You sat down next to Wanda and flashed a smile at Bucky and Steve who were sitting in front of her. To this, you noticed, Steve shot Bucky a weird look, who just shrugged it off.
“Last week we talked about the new drawing projects that have to be made. I have already made the groups and e-mailed it to you. I want everyone’s drawing at the end of the month.” Our arts teacher said strictly. And again I regretted my decision to join arts class instead of Spanish. I might not like to learn another language but I can’t draw for shit. That was why I felt really lucky to have Steve in my group. The two others in our group were Bucky and Christine Everhart. After rearranging the whole class so that everyone sat with their group you were the first to say something.
“Could someone maybe fill me in on what the project is? I don’t recall ever having heard about it.”
“We have to make a drawing, painting or whatever the hell you prefer more of something pretty.” Answered Christine. You knit your eyebrows at her answer and look at Steve and Bucky. Bucky chuckles and Steve lets out a sigh.
“We do have to paint something that interests us, something that is worthy of a whole assignment about it because that’s also part of the project.” Steve explains.
“I can’t draw but how about we draw something like a beach sunset? Would that be okay with you, Steve?” Bucky suggested.
“I can work with that. Maybe it would be nice to have a someone in it too? Christine? Or Y/N maybe?” Your eyes widened and Christine’s face contoured in disgust.
“Oh my God, why would you think I would ever agree to that? Don’t you know how gross sand is? It’s like a huge cat litter.” Then Steve suggested that Christine writes the assignment, because she’s always been good at turning stories prettier than they are or just the way she likes them.
“I wouldn’t mind to pose. It will make me feel less useless as I don’t have any good qualities in the shape of art.” You suggest.
“Well the, that’s settled. I can take pictures to add to the assignment so we all have a part in the project, but when and where are we gonna be able to pull the whole girl in beautiful sunset drawing?” Bucky adds.
“My house is only a ten minute drive away from a beautiful, small beach. We could go there.” You used to visit the small beach a lot in the past few weeks and found the most beautiful sunsets there.
“Great! They predict good weather tomorrow. We should go then.” After Steve said this you all began to exchange phone numbers and the times you’d be off the next day. At the end of class everything was arranged.
And just like everything was planned, you were on the beach the next afternoon. The sun was already starting to set so Steve somehow clicked into this very professional mode and started to tell you what to do.
Just before you left the school you had changed into your favorite summer dress. A white, knee length dress covered in lace. After changing you and Steve got into Christine’s car and she drove to the beach. Bucky had the day off so he’d be joining you there.
It didn’t take Steve very long to find the right pose and place for you to be in. He made you sit on a big rock, that seemed to exist out of a couple of smaller rocks attached to each other, that lay in the water.
“Oh yeah, this is perfect! Keep staring into the distance and don’t move.” Steve ordered.
“Yes sir.” You mocked.
“What time is it?” You ask after what seems like an hour.
“You’ve only been sitting there for like fifteen minutes, y/n.” Sighs Steve and Christine lets out a giggle.
“Ugh! Posing sucks, people.” To this you hear a chuckle that definitely does not belong to either Steve or Christine. “Bucky! You’ve finally arrived.” You let out dramatically. You’re about to turn your head, but not without Steve noticing.
“Do. Not. Move.” He orders strictly. “Oh and Bucky, nice of you to have finally joined us.” This gut gets annoyingly serious when drawing.
“Guys.” Christine giggles. “He’s been standing there for over ten minutes, too awestruck to take his picture.”
“I am not!.” Bucky tries to defend himself, but it’s too late for that.
“You should see him, guys. His face is as red as a tomato right now!” Christine continues.
Steve chuckles and adds: “You’re lucky y/n isn’t allowed to turn around. Your crush is showing.”
“Steve… Hey! No pictures.”
“Please guys, tell me what’s happening!” you beg, afraid to move incase Steve starts lecturing you again.
“Don’t worry, y/n! I took a picture of Bucky’s tomato red face so I’ll show you when you’re done.” Christine cheers happily. To this you hear Bucky groan and Steve chuckle.
“Don’t you dare have fun there ‘mister serious while painting’ Hurry up so I can get off of this rock ‘cause my butt is starting to ache.:
About an hour later Steve finally gave you his permission to move again. You didn’t even get the chance to drink some water from your bottle because Christine shoves her phone into your face. Kind of forcefully actually.
“This is what you just missed out on.” She grins as she waits for you to take her phone. The picture showing on the screen is indeed one of Bucky, with a very red face. You had to admit, he looked very cute all flustered.
No! What are you thinking? You have a boyfriend for god’s sake!
When you look up, you see that Bucky has disappeared from the spot he was just sitting. You give your two classmates a questioning look.
“He just stormed off.” Steve answers your not yet asked question with a nod into the direction Bucky apparently went to. And as you followed that direction you could indeed see Buck sitting somewhere further on the beach. Christine takes her phone out of your hands and you start to walk towards your moping team member.
“Hey, Buck.” You say as you plop down next to him in the sand. The only response you get is something that sounds like a sad hum. “What has gotten you so grumpy?”
After a while of silence you bump your shoulder into his, what causes him to look at you. “C’mon Bucky. Talk to me.”  You beg.
“There’s sand stuck in between the plates of my metal am.” He pouts. You can’t help but chuckle as you watch him defeatedly looking at his bionic arm.
“And it has nothing to do with the picture that Christine took?” And you were met by silence once again. “Just so you know, I think you look very cure al flustered.” You wink at him in an attempt to dissolve the tension which Bucky seems to notice right away.
“Don’t you have a boyfriend?” He asks with a raised eyebrow. You give him a small smile.
“Yes, I do. But what he doesn’t know won’t harm him and it’s not as if I’m cheating. I just called you cute, there’s no harm n that.”
The two of you just sit there in silence for a while. You notice Bucky’s mouth open and lose a couple of times, as if he wants to say something but isn’t really sure about it.
“What’s going on in that head of yours? If you have something to say or to ask, just let it all out.”
“I have a question, but you have tom promise me that you won’t get angry.” He murmurs.
“Ok, on one condition.” You say, to which Bucky raises his eyebrows. “I get to ask you two questions.”
Bucky chuckles and agrees. It goes silent again for a while so you take your time to take in your surroundings. The sun is almost gone, only leaving a slim orange line of light in its wake. Turning your head to the other side of the sky, you can see the full moon already shining brightly. Around it the dark sky is decorated with stars of all sizes.
To you this could be a romantic evening if you were here with Pietro, but sadly your boyfriend isn’t very romantic. Not at all actually. Not that you were longing for always being super romantic an cheesy, but once in a while you would like a little bit of romance. You are pulled out of your thoughts when Bucky suddenly speaks up.
“Why are you always such a bitch?” Auch. That hurt. You know it’s the truth but that doesn’t make it less painful. “Don’t forget that you promised me that you wouldn’t get angry.” Bucky defends himself quickly.
“Nah, that’s ok. You’re right anyway. I’ve been a huge bitch to everyone except for my friends. I guess it’s because everyone is nice to me ‘cause they’re afraid of me. At home, the only one that is nice to me is my dad, who is always away on business trips. Besides him I have my older sister who despises me and my mother, who obviously loves my sister a lot more than me. I’m a disappointment to her and I guess I’ve been taking all of that out on everyone in school.” You sigh. Bucky takes his time to process all that you had just revealed to him.
“Wow. I really thought that you had it all, you know? A big house, rich parents, a pretty face, popularity and a lot of good friends. I guess there’s more to you than the eye sees.” Bucky says eventually.
“Well yeah, there’s not much I can do about it anymore.” You sigh.
“Yes, there is. You are doing something about it right now.” You give him a questioning look, not understanding it. “You are talking to me. And Steve. And you are being nice. If you try this with everyone they’ll like you a lot more.” He tells you as he puts a reassuring hand on your shoulder.
“Thanks Buck, I should definitely try that. But now it’s my turn.” You cheer as you mentally prepare yourself for the question you’re about to ask. “How did you get your metal arm?”
“I’ll tell you if you promise me to keep it a secret.”
You give him a reassuring smile. “I promise.” You say as you put your hand to your heart.
“Well, your friends might have some kind of bad influence on you, but some of mine were worse. But worst of all was Loki. Loki Laufeyson.” He takes a deep breath and then continues.
“At first he seemed harmless but after a while I got to get to know the real Loki. The one who always got in trouble, drank too much and smoked way too much seed. Somehow I ended up right in the middle of that word and one night, when we were both very drunk and high, we stepped into the car to drive for a bit. I can’t really remember much, but they told me that my arm was so severely damaged that there was no use in attempting to save it. And Loki, who was driving and got out of the accident with only a few scratches, was sentenced to jail. I was able to avoid that fate, but I did spend a little over a year into a rehabilitation clinic.”
Bucky takes a little break and just as I am about to ask, he already has his answer ready.
“I’ve always been good with mechanic stuff, so when I didn’t like the prosthetic arm they had given me, I invented my own. One that is definitely not sand proof yet.” You chuckled in amazement, not really knowing what to say.
“Wow Buck, tha- that’s really something. I don’t really know what to say. Who ese knows about this?”
“Only my parents and Steve so I’d really appreciate it if you’d keep this between us.”
“I’ll keep my promise and never tell anyone. So now my second question.” You smirk.
“Ask away.”
“Do you really have a crush on me?”
A/N: I really hope you liked it! Requests are open and if you want a part 3, let me know!
