Y'know, it's wild to me that Nico's ability to pass completely unnoticed until he deliberately draws attention to himself is basically just dismissed as him being "creepy". ...I'm not talking about the whole "the Seven really did completely dismiss a very traumatized fourteen year old's obvious and serious issues as him being creepy huh" thing this time, I promise.
My point is that Nico can with no apparent difficulty completely conceal his location from a ship full of extremely stressed demigods and none of them ever notice he's there until he wants them to. A lot of attention is brought to how demigods are basically made for combat, and the Seven do kind of see Nico as an antagonistic presence (despite him never being a threat to them at any point- sorry, that's it, I promise); you'd expect their instincts to be honed to pick up on his presence! Especially with how often he's referred to as radiating death energy; that's the sort of thing you'd expect people to be aware of. But Nico can just... vanish. He can even vanish in pretty small and crowded spaces: the Argo II's a sizable vessel (200 feet long according to the wiki), it's possible that the Seven not generally having any idea where exactly on the ship Nico is just comes from it being a big space with very few people in it for its size, but the mess hall can't be all that big on its own considering everything else aboard the ship and Nico manages to go completely unnoticed in there while everyone else is also in the room until he deliberately calls attention to himself. That's a hell of a trick! And also might help explain how an untrained son of Hades managed to survive on his own for however long it took for Minos to track him down (and/or possibly how long it took him to find his father, since we don't actually know how he learned to control his powers); if his knack for staying hidden from people extends to monsters he'd have a huge advantage in terms of survival, and if he can hide from demigods he can absolutely hide from mortals, which would allow him to steal anything he needed to survive on the streets. And we know it can extend to very powerful beings, since back in TLO he heads to Mount Othrys and spies on the Titans with no evidence that they ever knew he was hiding close enough to them for him to watch and listen to what they were doing. But no one ever talks about his ability to hide himself so completely that the only time we've ever seen him get caught was in Tartarus (which is Tartarus, and doesn't follow the standard rules), and when his skill at concealment comes up people just call it creepy. That's actually a really impressive skill!
...Also I now want many many spy and/or assassin AUs featuring Nico's ability to easily conceal himself (and when in plain sight somehow managing to be beneath suspicion despite no one liking him, the fact that he gets away with going to Camp Jupiter with the only explanation being "Uhhhhhhhh, I'm an ambassador from Pluto" and no one seems to have seriously questioned that even though none of them like or particularly trust him is also something that I feel should get more attention).

so hades 2 huh
it's fun! i am more convinced after actually playing it than i was in the runup to it. the green colour palette looked a little drab in the videos but it works better for me fullscreen in game, and I really like the second zone's design. the major aesthetic change does go a little way towards making this feel like 'new Supergiant game' instead of just a rehash of the first game.
the difficulty floor is higher than the first game. i think it's well-tuned to go into if you've beaten that one. so far i've played 6 runs, seen the first boss in 5, and and beaten her in 2 of them; yet to get more than about halfway through the second zone after that tho!
the new mana mechanic is kinda interesting, lots of tradeoffs to make. it's a bit more granular than the cast in the first game; you use it to do powered up versions of your attacks, and spending it also charges up the Call-equivalent.
i'm increasingly intrigued by the setting, and i really like some of the side characters like arachne. i think the time skip was a good decision - the story of Zagreus et al. was definitely done. the epilogue ending of the first game was way too neat.
still, starting a revenge plot in media res is curious. especially when Nemesis lampshades the lack of personal motivation. compared to Zagreus's very pressing and relatable motivation (run away from my abusive dad), Melinoë's motivation is a little more abstract - this seems to be deliberate. but it does a fair bit to sell the sort of 'desperate resistance base' setting. it definitely seems rather like they're setting up a twist down the line. but it lacks the immediate emotional hook of the overbearing patriarch in the first game. curious to see how it will work once I've seen more of the story.
as far as the new gods, I'm fascinated by the decision to make Hephaestus and Hestia both be Northern - probably Yorkshire. it's always fun hearing regional UK accents in games. they do also both feel like responses to the criticism that Jen Z never designs fat characters lmao. still, they are good designs. both have satisfying mechanics. Selene also has a really good design I think.
the other gods' mechanics have naturally been redesigned to fit the new game. still broadly the same themes, e.g. Zeus will still be lightning based, but different interpretations of what that means, so for example you have 'hitting an enemy produces a lightning blast behind them' as the primary Zeus mechanic instead of chain lightning. which definitely keeps things fresh. Melinoë's kit has a lot of directional attacks and, with the Cast now being an AOE which slows/freezes enemies, there's a lot more emphasis now on positioning enemies to set up AOE attacks which is interesting.
the witch stuff is quite fun in an admittedly slightly cheesy way. it's definitely pull on aesthetic currents which aren't at all Ancient Greek, like the pointed hats. but hey! I can get into it, it's not like the game's aesthetic has ever been all that strictly historical. even if I am still scratching my head at 'so mote it be'. apparently it's an archaic word meaning 'may', i.e. 'may it be so'.
of course the main thing is, the actual moment to moment gameplay is fun. it flows just as the first game did, and it's just as addictive with the way it spreads out story breadcrumbs. the vfx and such look great, the movement is already super tightly tuned (tbf it's basically the same as the first game with the addition of a new 'hold dash to sprint'), and there's a already good variety of enemy mechanics.
there's some obvious placeholders for some of the UI art and character portraits (notably none of the keepsakes have been drawn yet), but overall it's surprisingly polished for an early-access build. all the voice acting is already there - it's fun seeing the Supergiant voice cast return in new roles.
the meta progression element... there's some neat ideas, like an upgrade system with a limited set of slots that very much calls to mind NieR Automata's chip system. so there are some stronger tradeoffs to make; it's not as simple as 'spend resource, get better' as it was in the first game. and it's clearly possible to advance quite far even without a lot of meta resource investment. so far it definitely feels like my main limit is skill, and I'll progress further once I learn more of the enemy patterns and figure out what builds I like to play.
(though I guess the idea with this kind of game is that the power ups quietly boost you and make it feel like you're getting better a lot faster than you are just learning the game lmao)
overall, it's just really fun to have another Supergiant game to sink my teeth into haha. I still wish they'd continued their streak of coming up with new IPs each time, because they'd come up with fantastic settings, but there's plenty of interest here still.
also the more I work in game dev the more I can appreciate just what a ludicrous amount of polish there is in Supergiant's games. I can only imagine the amount of work it must have taken to tune the feel of everything this tight.

Riordanverse Characters As EPIC Lyrics
"I no longer dream, only nightmares of those who've died" is Clarisse after manhattan
"Whatever we face, we'll be fine if we're leading from the heart" is Silena in general
"No matter the place, we can light up the world" is Lee and Luke, when they're dreaming of college right before Luke betrays them
"Time... I've unlocked it, I see past and future running free" is Rachel before manhattan, she sees all sorts of visions and doesn't know what's going on, just knows that it isn't happening now
"There is a world where I help you get home, but that's not a world I know" is Leo to Jason. If only he'd made it back just a bit sooner-- maybe jason wouldn't be dead
"A man who gets to make it home alive, but it's no longer you" is drew returning to camp after manhattan, and at the start of this war she was happy and bright, and now she's unrecognizable.
"I'm the only one who's line I haven't crossed"
"What if I'm the one who killed you, every time I caved to guilt"
"What if I've been far to kind to foes but a monster to ourselves"
"Learn to be colder when she got older, and now she saves them the pain" Drew refusing to let aphrodite kids fight. if people don't remember they CAN fight, they won't make them fight. if they're kept out of the worst of the battles... well. drew will have protected them in the way she can.
"Does he throw away his remorse and save more lives with guile"
"Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves" that's a general drew and malcolm idea that connor is opposed to but can't get through to them on
"i must become the monster, and then we'll make it home" percy in house of hades (especially with ahklys)
"I have something that I must confess, something that I must get off my chest, until it is said I cannot rest" silena, trying to tell clarisse she's the spy, before she resorts to the drastic pulling a patroclus
"No, i'm not a player, I'm a puppeteer" Drew Tanaka in general. like she won't fight. she'll watch from the sidelines, manipulate people into doing things, but she doesn't want to get her hands dirty again.
"Of course I'd like to leave now, of course I'd like to run, but I can hardly sleep now, knowing everything we've done" Connor, refusing to run away with Malcolm and Drew the night before a big battle (you choose if it's manhattan, the BOO, or a trials of apollo battle)
"Wouldn't you like a taste of the power, wouldn't you like to use more than words?" some new camper trying to convince drew to fight (and then promptly getting stabbed, because drew CAN fight, she just prefers charmspeak)
"I've got people to protect... so I'm not taking chances" silena on why she chose to join luke. like yeah she was groomed but she also honestly thought it would protect those closest to her.
"i still believe in goodness, I still believe that we could be kind" connor, trying to reason with malcolm, drew, or clarisse in war counsel (about the romans specifically)
"you are reckless, sentimental at best" ares to clarisse about her fighting in manhattan (her loved ones' deaths were the things motivating her and she told kronos to fight her so)
"I know what I'm fighting for, while you're fighting to be known" malcolm to annabeth in an argument early on.
"what good would killing do, when mercy is a skill, more of this world could learn to use?" connor again, probably about the romans.
"the blood we shed, it never dries, is this what it means to be a warrior" sherman praying to his father, (he was so paralyzed by guilt after the battle of manhattan he would have nightmares about being covered in blood again and just throw up), (this is when he loses faith)
"this life is amazing when you greet it with open arms, whatever we face, we'll be fine if we're leading from the heart"
"i'd like to show my friend that kindness is brave" silena about clarisse
"Have you forgotten to turn off your heart?" clarisse to silena
bolded are chb in general

got any founding of Auradon and the rescuing of Lampwick, Alexander and the other stupid little boys hc?
no one EVER talks about the founding of Auradon!
Ohhhhhh this has opened a flood gate. This might go long.
Okay, so, initially the realms merging was slow? A couple places connected like Hercules and Aladdin's. Bits and pieces from different worlds and timeframes. It was not a big all at once thing until towards the end. That was a matter of fate and was not caused by any one individual. This DID however help with things like communication barriers and adjusting to differing circumstances.
There was something odd going on though. Several people who, by varying belief systems, should have ended up in other afterlives that were ending up in the Greek underworld. This WAS caused by an individual - the Evil Fairy Godfather. He thought that getting certain villain together would make things more 'fun'. Maleficent didn't disappoint. She, using her own creativity for magic and some 'visit the land of the living' assists from Hades, convinced a group of villains to form an alliance (temporarily! Villains don't share well, she knows that) to take their revenge on those who had defeated them. Hades thought this was HOT AS HELL by the way.
The heroes, however, teamed up to stop them because....yes? Duh? They were gonna do that? And unlike villains and their giant egos and selfish, cruel natures, they actually are pretty good at teamwork. So the alliance was defeated and in order to establish some...well, order, in the chaos of a merge, different kings/queens/heads of state ran for a sort of 'high king' position to make final executive decisions for this new giant landmass. Adam won, because he had some strong ideas for leading Auradon into a golden age.
So. First they had to deal with the villains. Now, Adam wasn't totally happy with how things went with Gaston. Yes, he was happy things worked out and he and Belle had their happy ending, but it stuck with him that Gaston wormed out of facing any kind of justice because he died. He tried to put it out of his mind because, well, he was DEAD, he couldn't hurt anyone anymore. The alliance blew that out of the water. Suddenly they weren't safe even WITH their villains dead. They'd proven that they could and WOULD keep coming back to haunt them. So he decided the safest thing to do would be to put them on an Isle. It would be surrounded by a barrier, breakable only by the most powerful magical objects. No evil magic would be able to work there and they wouldn't be allowed any technology at the level of wi-fi or more advanced than that. That way, they could just...live their lives and be each other's problem instead of everyone else's.
I truly feel that the sheer and utter awfulness of the Isle was born more out of apathy than any strong intent to make the Isle as miserable as possible - at least on Adam's part. I mean, he's angry with them for sure and he maaaaay have learned that sometimes being harsh gets the job done for convincing people to try to be better (worked for him), but I don't think either is what he's thinking of. I think he just didn't care. Supplying the Isle with items that don't sell in Auradon just seemed like a practical way to get rid of stuff that people didn't want. And frankly, Adam doesn't care enough about the villains to make sure that the Bureau is conducting proper inspections to make sure that the stuff they send isn't spoiled or broken to the point of being unusable. The kids are a mix of the same apathy, a sort of 'they surely wouldn't be so awful to their own flesh and blood kids, right?' and just generally not wanting to keep dealing with these people who've tried to ruin his life twice now because just thinking about them makes him angry and contrary to popular belief he does not ENJOY losing his temper (even though it's definitely still there sometimes). Is that an excuse? Of course not. Adam SHOULD have cared. He SHOULD have made sure the Isle wasn't being turned into a dump. He SHOULD have made sure the Bureau cared. He SHOULD have been making sure the Isle's conditions were humane. He SHOULD have taken these kids away because WE DON'T LET KIDS GROW UP IN JAILS. That's not so much an excuse for Adam as it is a clarifying of motives.
Back to the founding though - so uh. There were a LOT of trials. Some of the ones about more controversial people on the Isle are below. Adam was not the judge in all of these. There were other judges who oversaw different cases. The judge who did the majority of the convictions for abuse of anthropomorphized animals was noted as being PARTICULARLY strict. - Aunt Sarah: Aunt Sarah was never actually convicted of anything. She's LEGALLY speaking free to go and can leave the Isle whenever she wants. She CHOSE to go to the Isle to take care of her cats, who WERE to be sent to the Isle because they were part of the villains alliance (which isn't surprising because they love destroying things and causing general mayhem). - Anastasia: Got suckered into helping with Lady Tremaine's part in all this (plus Drizella). So she got convicted with them. She is INCREDIBLY bitter about it and Cinderella wasn't happy about this. - Iago: Iago...never really stopped stealing stuff. He was doing a lot of that during the chaos of the battle and so well. Yeah. Aladdin ain't happy either. - The Ringmaster: According to some of the comics and games (which Descendants has used for material before) he IS significantly more abusive to his animals than in the movie. Which makes it easier to understand why he is on the Isle. - Amos Slade: Amos Slade's trial is mostly noteworthy for establishing an early precedent in crimes against anthropomorphized animals (which Auradon now knows is a thing). He tried to appeal his sentence on the grounds that he couldn't possibly have known Tod was anthropomorphized at the time he committed his crimes. The judge applied a new variant of something called the thin skull rule - basically if you are legally at fault for something, you can't avoid the penalty because the harm done was unexpectedly and unforeseeably severe. In this case, the judge ruled that while Amos couldn't have known Tod was anthropomorphized, he DID know he had NO business being illegally on that nature preserve and he most CERTAINLY knew he was not to hunt there. Therefore, he had to 'take his victim as they came' and the fact Tod happened to be anthropomorphized meant he was still guilty. And therefore still to be sent to the Isle of the Lost. - Hades: Zeus had Hades (and other greek gods and monsters involved in this alliance like the fates, Hecate, Circe, the Titans) tried in god court. This was the second time that they had tried to destroy Olympus and Hades particularly had done so to try to take the world for himself. So he sentenced them to be given a partial dose of the potion Hades gave Hercules to make them more mortal. Their magic could now be affected by the barrier, and they were a lot more vulnerable. Hades was HUMILIATED and was known to vacillate between 'I am a god, you can't do this to me' and 'I used to be a god, leave me alone'. Zeus had them stored in the Isle for safekeeping. As long as the mortals don't mess with them, he doesn't really care who the High King for mortal politics is.
The resurrected villains have no memory of dying, though they remember the battle.
The idea of the Isle of the Lost was controversial in some circles (Aladdin has never liked it, the Court of Miracles have never trusted it), while others had varying levels of trust in the idea (as presented. I don't think any would approve of how it turned out).
Since you brought up the Coachman - yeah, there was a LOT of testimony in bringing him in. Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, and the Blue Fairy (who'd been keeping an eye on him) all testified. So did Honest John and Gideon, because they were afraid of the GRIZZLY death that awaited anyone involved in Pleasure Island. Adam reduced their sentence from death to being placed on the Isle of the Lost - BEFORE the Coachman. Therefore, he wouldn't be able to retaliate without his magic.
The Coachman himself was totally unrepentant. He stood there grinning that horrible grin when Adam was going over his crimes. He wasn't at all afraid of the Isle or the possibility of death. And he flat out refused to help Adam find any of the kids. Adam just about lost his mind. He managed to deep breathe though and then told the Coachman, very firmly, that if he didn't help find the kids within a year or if god forbid one had died, then he would have Fairy Godmother turn him into a donkey. And then he'd be sold to one of the places he sold the kids to, where he would be worked to death. And then he'd be brought back and sold to the next place, and over and over again. And finally, when he'd worked on every place he'd sold a kid to, he'd be sent to the Isle of the Lost to live the rest of his life there as a donkey. While getting angrier, louder and more bestial the longer he went on. Wiped the grin right off the Coachman's face. He agreed to find the kids.
The boys being rescued was done in a variety of places. A LOT of owners were HORRIFIED - they had no clue what they'd bought. Adam sent busses and ordered they be promptly returned home to their parents, who were notified of the good news. Adam had the Coachman accompanied by a hero at all times (often someone like Hercules who could literally turn him into a smear in an instant) and he went to a handful of places personally to make sure the kids were turned back. He also sent the Blue Fairy or Fairy Godmother to ensure there was no funny business in him turning the boys back. Although I think the Coachman knew he was in deep at that point and knew better than to play games.
The boys stopped a couple places on their way back. One of them was the encanto, where the Madrigals let them stay a couple days while they resupplied and planned the rest of the trip (because like hell were the Madrigals gonna look at these little boys who've gone through a nightmare and kicked them out). Mostly though, I think they were glad to go home. Their parents basically threw a big block party when they got home. There were lots of happy tears.
Blue Fairy PERSONALLY dropped off the Coachman on the Isle. Which was...dangerous since she didn't bring her wand (she didn't want it stolen) but she insisted.
After everything that happened with the battle, it was clear that, while magic is a very powerful resource, it also has serious issues. It can be abused against people who have no real way to fight back. So Adam has 1) STRICTLY forbidden the use of evil magic. 2) While good or neutral magic isn't illegal, his government officially encourages people to try other means to solve their problems, like knowledge. 3) Use of magic by members of the council (like Fairy Godmother) must be APPROVED by the Council, for that reason. Hence why FG needs council permission to use her wand, even though nobody else seems all that troubled by the magic ban.
Most of the rest of the first year was focused on building infrastructure, opening Auradon Prep, and establishing the new government. As for the sidekicks? While Adam didn't force people to pay them, he has also created infrastructure that means there's large swathes of time they're not working, among other things. I guess he thought that'd balance out. It does not. "Not working" is not the same as PTO, benefits or wages. But well.
Overall? It was a pretty good start to a reign that DID create a golden age, but it also planted the seeds for rotten fruit, namely the Isle and the sidekicks issue. It added up to a complicated legacy where he did do genuinely impressive things - but also awful and flat out monstrous things.
I know that was more about the founding than the Coachman and co. but I tried to include that story here!

Sweet Poison - Part 3
Tumblr media
Summary: In which you don't paint in color and Zagreus asks why? “Contrary to popular belief, Elysium don’t take kindly to beings like me.”
WC: 1k
TW: Zagreus (Hades Video game) x Succubus!Reader, GN!Reader, a succubus AND an artist bc sex is just work and food, au where in game Zag commissions the paintings using gems, what if boons actually affected Zagreus, slow build, strangers to friends to lovers trope, sex work, fluff, fluff and humor, mutual pining, idiots in love, mild angst, pheromones, technically it’s succubi magic aura, Zagreus is at least 6 ft convince me otherwise, eventual smut
“So… why?”
“Hm?”
“Why black and white? Why not in color?” Without looking up, Zagreus thumbs through one of your old sketchbooks, the light framing his profile in a soft green. Pieces of parchment fall out and he fumbles. You shake your head with a smile, facing your easel once again.
You hate to admit it, but you think you made the right choice welcoming Zagreus into your life. His visits—brief as they are—quickly become a highlight of your day. He’s not around all the time, but when he does happen to stop by, you find the rest of the day to go by quicker, easier. Even work feels less exhausting.
It’s been a long time since you had a friend. Especially someone as easy to talk to as Zagreus. It’s… nice. He’s nice.
To think not too long ago, you tried to bring him to his knees and suck the soul out of him. You’re glad you didn’t. Mostly.
A small part of you would still love to see him on his knees, but you banish the thought as quickly as it came.
Touching Zagreus with even an ounce of your normal power feels sacrilegious. Not that it affected him before, which you still don’t understand. Still, you dampen your aura as a precaution, letting out enough so as not to strain yourself. For some reason it felt wrong to touch him in that way. He’s too good. Pure.
Ironic, considering the amount of times he’s entered your domain splattered in blood. And yet somehow, he still manages to bring you gifts between runs.
You’ve never known someone to be in possession of so much nectar. And he just hands it out freely? The demonic, selfish part of you can’t understand why. Perhaps he’s bored of the stuff. Common in his corner of the Underworld. The thought of this stuff just laying around makes you chuckle. In all seriousness, where he gets it, you suspect he’s got a supplier of some sort, probably in the deepest pits of Taratarus. The Tartarian and Asphodelish marketplaces sure don’t.
They don’t have a lot of things.
“It’s not that I can’t color. I just don’t have any,” You shrug, continuing to sharpen and blend shadows where you see fit. “Trust me. I’ve visited every market in Tartarus and Asphodel; art materials aren’t exactly high in demand.”
Zagreus looks up from your sketchbook, parchment sheets filled to the brim with charcoal and lead. “And Elysium? There’s a grand market by the arena, you know.” He’s not trying to be condescending—you know—but a dull ache forms at the back of your skull, a sour squirm rising in your chest at his ignorance. His naivety.
“And you truly believe they’d serve me?” You scoff.
“Why not?”
You raise an eyebrow, and he meets your gaze, unwavering, like he can’t see the horns, wings, and tail. He is so used to your presence, they no longer register.
That makes you no less a demon. A succubus.
You shake your head, “Contrary to popular belief, Elysium don’t take kindly to beings like me.”
“Oh. I’m sorry.”
You give him a tightlipped smile as his brow furrows, visibly crestfallen. “Don’t worry your pretty, little head, Zagreus. It is what it is.” Turning back to the canvas, you swirl your brush and mix different gray tones on your palette. Oh, why is getting the right shade so difficult?
Sensing the shift in your mood, Zagreus glances down, flipping through your old sketches, all black and white and shades of gray. “But if you had the materials, would you? Draw and paint in color?”
You don’t even have to think, your eyes focused on a particular corner of the painting. “Yes.”
A moment later, stone rumbles and you look up in time to see his footprints cool off. The sketchbook has returned to its rightful place, wedged between the leather-bound novels and trinkets in your bookcase.
Two runs later, Zagreus barges in, gasping for breath like he raced over as soon as he could. There’s burns on his arms, blood sprayed across his face, a gaping wound on his thigh as if he’d been stabbed, but none of that matters—not to him at least—as he holds out a box held with twine to you, his teeth bared in an eager smile.
And when he slaps down a handful of colorful gems for a commission, your cheeks grow sore, unable to stop smiling back.
AN: Succubi!Reader tried to buy colored paint once and it unfortunately did not turn out as they hoped 😔 Good thing Zagreus got the hook up 😌🫰✨️

"Do you know how long I've watched you? You're perfect." with old Terry pleaseee. However I love your writing because you are the only person who can understand Terry Silver in many situations :))
Tumblr media
---
In fact it wasn't even that long.
Terry Silver didn't need long observations to know what he wanted.
Who he wanted.
How he wanted them.
Fundamentally, he felt the act of prolonged watching was a sign of weak character, low confidence and indecisiveness and unless one was organizing a tactical guerilla military ambush, there was no use for looking and no acting. This was a sort of a military ambush, though. In a sense. Desire was a military ambush. Soft warfare and hard desire. And as much as he coveted the sport of stalking and subterfuge for what it was, it was time to strike first, and one needed to know when and how to separate the two accordingly. That he did too. Maybe he had this innate fear of time running thin, leaving him starving and profoundly searching --- searching for something tangible to sink his teeth into and feast, find himself sated and fed with vampiric fervour. Now he was the old man. He was the grey one. Maybe if he yearned, he wanted to do so all the way, all-consumingly, to the hilt, without reservation and half-measures, starting to subscribe at love at first sight. That some bullshit notion like magic was out there, waiting to be claimed by him. That such a thing was possible. In fact, he thought love at first was possible all his life, in certain ways, because he always knew that once he saw something and found himself wanting it profoundly enough to claw, bite, cheat, lie and split atoms for it, it validly existed as an idea --- a chemical, crushed golden powder, waiting to be inhaled. He knew because he felt it inside of him, bubbling like fever, making up his nervous system attached to his brain. Right here. Right now.
And there you were, his blood's heat.
He's casually offering you a drink, like Hades plying Persephone with a mythological pomegranate. Into the Underworld you'll go, much like her. Into the Dragon's Den. With him. If you were to love him you might as well discover immediately just what kind of man he was and how he moved.
Otherwise, was any of this even worth a damn?
He didn't think so, no.
-"Do you know how long I've watched you?"- Terry prods with effortlessly dialed up charm as an ice breaker, because truly, it really was no time at all. Still enough for him to know. On instinct. He looks you up and down, eager fingers wishing to touch and instead, Terry waves one free hand in the air with a smile and shoulders shrugging, trying to draw out your silhouette in mimicry made out of clear oxygen. -"Two hours."- He says the truth, and you giggle, convinced it is a flirtatious joke. Naive lamb. You thought he was a quaint, old six figure pensioner who formerly lived on Malibu beach for his retirement plan and that was about the jist of it. He was so much more. -"You're perfect."- He coos, with a glass of Rosé as flushed as your cheeks offered to you, in kind. Was it wrong for him to want all that beauty, that sweetness, for himself? No, it wasn't. Everything he wanted he was rightfully entitled to anyway. He almost ponders laying it all out in front of you; everything he owns, his networth, his revenues, his power and wealth and telling you he'll take care of you because he can and wants to, and in return, he'd ask for a world of devotion, you taking your heart out of your chest if he ordered it. When he was younger, he'd play the long con and test you to see if you go for him as he was, wearing elaborate masks and pretending he was a nobody, but now, as things were, Terry Silver wanted you to know and understand exactly who he was and what he was and capitulate for him. Capitulate you would. And he'd plenty time to just watch you. The rest of his life, in fact.

how i would divide the POVs in my rewrite
The Lost Hero: Obviously Jason, Piper, Leo, but every few chapters you get a brief diary entry from Piper recounting how she was recruited by and ultimately abandoned the Titan Army over the course of a year. Alternatively, an interlude from Clarisse at she attends a camp counselor meeting and reflects on past trauma and Annabeth’s crumbling mental state. Basically catching up with the aftermath of the Last Olympian.
The Son of Neptune: Hazel, Percy, Frank, but with an interlude from Reyna as she attends a tense meeting with Octavian and some powerful adults and tries to convince them to trust Percy, still wondering whether she should. This is the one I’m least sure about. Maybe Octavian...?
The Mark of Athena: Ok. Hear me out. Half greek, half Roman. Annabeth, Leo, Hazel, Jason. Annabeth deals with the fallout of Percy not remembering her and being sort of jackass Leo spirals as his ship continuously malfunctions, leaving him question his self-worth and his sanity. Hazel begins to process her grief, as she suspects a traitor in their midst. Jason has a tumulteous frenemiship with Percy, as he pressures him to use his abilities in ways that go against his basic instincts. The interlude follows a younger Octavian being set on a dangerous path.
The House of Hades: Again, Half Greek, Half Roman. Percy, Piper, Frank, Hazel. Percy regains his memories as he relives his past in the pit, navigating a tenuous relationship with a cautious Annabeth. Piper tries to take accountability for her mistakes, but finds it almost impossible. Frank tries to set aside his corrosive abilities, and truly lead the 7 as the son of Mars. Hazel, the only returning perspective, embraces her mother’s legacy and her own power as she looks for a way to cut the proverbial knot and find a solution to a seemingly impossible question. The interlude follows Nico as he tries to get off Calypso’s island after being banished by Khione.
The Blood of Olympus: Everyone gets a perspective, except for Reyna and Nico. With all his best plans laid to waste, Leo races with Nico back to Camp, while the others take a much more dangerous route through chaos itself. A final trial awaits the children of the Big 3, and Piper tries to uncover a long buried secret that holds both the key of Gaea’s demise and the truth reason for her wrath.
(A lot of this does not make sense with canon, but I didn’t feel like explaining myself, so feel free to ask.)

Re: inbox infodumping
I’ve gotten back into Hades recently and I really want to be playing it, but I don’t have access to my computer at the moment, so I’m gonna start rambling about the story so far and see where that takes me. You don’t have to read all of it
SO
You play as Zagreus, son of Hades and Persephone, and prince of the underworld. Something I haven’t found out yet happened a long time ago, causing Persephone to leave the underworld for good. Zagreus was raised by Nyx, goddess of night, but realised right before the events of the game that his mother is in fact Persephone. With Nyx’s help, he contacted Olympus to ask for help, and got answers from most of them. They can talk to him but he can’t talk to them, and partly thanks to Nyx, they can’t see him either. They think he’s fighting his way out of the underworld to join them on Olympus, hence the help; he’s actually fighting his way out to find and meet Persephone
So that’s our backstory. So far, I’ve made it to the very end a few times and fought the final boss, Hades himself, at the gates of the underworld. I’ve made it to phase 2 twice but I haven’t quite beaten him yet
I have, however, made some good progress in two subplots:
In the second zone, Asphodel, you can meet Eurydice; she gives you food that can power up the boons the Olympians gave you. You can also meet Orpheus; he’s been sentenced to solitary confinement because he refused to sing, but you can pay to have him brought back to continue serving as Hades’ court musician. However, he still won’t sing
Eventually, Zagreus finds out that they know each other and starts playing messenger. The end of their myth, with Orpheus turning around, seems to have gone kind of like a messy divorce. Eurydice kinda hates him now and wants nothing more to do with him, whereas Orpheus desperately misses her. After a few more conversations with them, you can get Eurydice to write down the song she’s been singing and bring it back to Orpheus. Shortly after, he will start singing it
When you see Eurydice again, she says that you’ve gotten her thinking about Orpheus again and asks what you expect her to do with that. Then gives you food and you leave. That’s as far as I’ve gotten in their storyline, but I do have a prophecy (sort of like a sidequest but not really; you have a list of prophecies like “Zagreus will one day escape the underworld” and you get rewards for fulfilling them) that they will be reunited. And I’ve seen that they sing that song as a duet eventually, but I’ve avoided listening to it before I get to hear it in-game. It’s called Good Riddance, if you want to hear it
Then there’s Achilles. He’s Zagreus’ mentor figure; he taught him how to fight and smuggled him the weapons that you use in escape attempts
When you reach Elysium, you can meet Patroclus, who’s waxing poetic and sitting next to the river Lethe; the one that makes you forget everything when you drink from it. Eventually, Zagreus figures out that Achilles and Patroclus know each other and asks Achilles about it. He asks him to send a message, that he still thinks about Patroclus every day and sends his love. Patroclus doesn’t believe that you actually know Achilles, and I haven’t managed to convince him otherwise yet
After more questions, Achilles will then explain that after he died, he made a pact with Hades; Patroclus would get to go to Elysium instead of Asphodel, and Achilles would serve in the House of Hades for eternity. His logic was that they couldn’t be together regardless, so at least Patroclus gets a better afterlife this way. He doesn’t know that Patroclus doesn’t like Elysium very much, since he doesn’t exactly fit in with the, quote, “braggarts and kings”
And I’m absolutely sure that I can get them reunited at some point, too
So yeah! Hades story! Here’s some random other stuff about that game as well!
Cerberus does guard the gates to the underworld, but he can be bribed with treats because he’s your dog
The boss at the end of Elysium is in fact two people: Theseus and the Minotaur (Asterius). I haven’t learned their backstory just yet, but from what I understand, Theseus somehow and for some reason got Hades to put Asterius in Elysium with him. Anyway, now they’re inseparable. They say they have a brotherhood that Zagreus could never understand. But also, I’m fairly sure Theseus calls Zagreus a homewrecker if/when he starts becoming friends with Asterius. I do know for sure that Asterius reassures Theseus that their bond could never be broken by anyone besides themselves, and to not let Zagreus get in the way of that
I really like Asterius
The weapons have four Aspects each, which are different forms the weapon takes on for different wielders (and each one has a different gimmick that changes how the weapon plays). Each one has one Hidden Aspect, which is a form it will take for someone in the future
And my point here is that in Hades, you can fight the god of the dead himself with the actual Excalibur
And there’s also a dedicated button to pet Cerberus. Great game
Ah yes I have heard of this game but I haven't actually played it yet bc it's a roguelike and roguelike Hard for me. But ooh. Thank yew for the infodump. Any game where you can pet the dog >>>>

Name: Hercules Alcaeus Age: Thirty-two Occupation: Employee at Phil’s Gym Sexuality: Heterosexual Pronouns: He/Him Currently Playing: STAR WALKIN’ by Lil Nas X Big Three: Pisces sun, Aries moon, Cancer rising
Headcanons:
Hercules was adopted when he was a baby by his parents, who had found him crying on the side of the road. Herc considers himself the luckiest guy in the world that he somehow got picked up by the kindest, most caring parents in the world. He was their only child, since they had trouble conceiving before him. They never told him that they weren’t his biological parents until he was a teenager and they couldn’t seem to explain the super strength that he couldn’t harness.
As a child, Herc was viewed as the weird kid. He was always clumsy and a bit too strong for his body. The only real friend he ever had was a shapeshifter, and they bonded over having to learn how to hide their powers. It led to a lot of accidents, and no one really wanted him in their stores or their homes. Hercules could understand why, but it didn’t make it any less frustrating to not know why he couldn’t control himself. After one big incident that happened in public, where Herc had accidentally crumbled an entire building (that he’s still paying off to this day), his parents finally sat him down and told him the truth.
A medal that hung around his neck when he was found indicated that Hercules wasn’t the child of his parents, or of any human. He’d come from Mount Olympus, and was the son of Zeus. His mind was blown, but it honestly began to make a lot of sense, why he kept destroying things accidentally. His real father, Zeus, came to him in a dream after he was told the truth, telling him to train so he could try to earn his spot back with the gods.
Zeus directed him to a gym in town, the owner of which had apparently trained some of the best heroes known to man. It took some convincing, since Phil was a bit of a grump, but he’d seen Herc’s strength on display and decided to take a chance on him. Phil has a pretty specific way of doing things, which Hercules still tries to adjust to to this day, but he’s been the best mentor Herc has ever had.
It was on an outing with Phil where he experienced love at first sight. They were at the Snuggly Duckling and he was looking for who Phil had described as a damsel in distress, which was when he laid eyes on Meg for the first time. She was being hit on by someone who she clearly didn’t reciprocate feelings for, and Herc was ready and willing to fight him for her. Meg insisted that she was fine, that she could take care of herself, and she did. Since then, Hercules has been a little head-over-heels for her, going so far as to risk his life to keep her out of danger, but Meg has some walls up that he can’t seem to take down.
Of course he’s heard about his uncle, Hades, but they’ve never actually met. Herc has been trying to put it off for as long as possible, but apparently, Phil knows him somehow. He’s terrified that the one biological family member he has the opportunity to meet will somehow disappoint him. He doesn’t know much about him besides that he doesn’t like his father, but Herc really isn’t sure why.
For now, Hercules works at Phil’s gym as a pseudo-manager, all around kind of employee. He also gets a free membership, which is nice, but he needs to tone it down when he lifts weights if he doesn’t want to raise any sort of suspicion. Herc only lifts to. his full capacity and trains with Phil whenever the gym is empty.
Still trying to find his way around his body a bit, but Herc has gotten much better over the years since he started working under Phil. He’s pretty clumsy and still causes a few accidents here and there, but he’s working on it.
His body has a terrible reaction to caffeine. He can’t drink coffee without it causing heart palpitations that he’s afraid will cause a heart attack. The same can be said for alcohol: he can’t drink much without it hitting, hard. His tolerance has gotten better since hanging around the Duckling so much to see his favorite bartender.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
so, your probably wondering how this thing just spawned out of existence huh?
yeah...Same
to talk about the process of making this thing is going to be sort of long winded so hand tight while I go over everything.
I needed a title cover for my alternate comic series, understandable right, yeah I guess so, comic covers usually look good right? yeah we can both agree on that so let’s just take you through the methods and story of this thing okay?
Tumblr media
so it started out with the earlier sketch where I doodled some of the character from faulty visions and honestly for some reason the doodle really stuck with me for some reason I decided to use it as a reference point for a theoretical cover for this segment of the comic
Tumblr media
so yeah, things started off with this new sketch expanding on the idea a bit, showing the Main characters Jess and Steve just kind of chilling near a canyon with an exploded middle area to show a bit of the story telling implying that the area there hanging around in might of been where one of the nukes went off, pretty dark theming for what I earlier stated to be a buddy adventure comic about a pupil-less Lady and her sentient Tv but considering it’s a background element you’d have to further put thought into to understand the greater implications of I’d say it’s fine to show something considering it isn’t fully upfront with the darker concept of this initially being where a nuke went off.
also quick note about the mild face change I made with the mouth, I personally felt it added more character to her, combined with the pure white Eyes it gives off a sort of “no thoughts head empty” type of vibe and I was kinda endeared to that idea, that Jess is trapped in this completely horrific and hopeless situation yet is completely oblivious to that fact through sheer the sheer power of never questioning where all the humans went, you see a lot of straight man type characters or skilled warrior type character or someone who grows into that archetype be the main character of an apocalypse story, so flipping the script and having somewhat who is completely oblivious to the implications and horror of everything around them yet is also scarily adept at self suffixion despite literally having no idea what the hell is going on is a very funny twist on the trope.
Tumblr media
So as for colours explaining my process I began  by doing the colours of the characters first before anything with the background being in post i’ll just show everything together though.
Tumblr media
ah right the sky, using a similar tactic to my last project I used the gradiant tool with a combined reddish pink and purple to make a convincing looking sunset view and then adding a sun in there as well to complete the look, as sunset covers are really appealing in my eyes and we don’t see those types of views in apocalypses much so having a more pretty view would change things up a bit in a good way hopefully
Tumblr media Tumblr media
moving onto shading for the characters first I really tried to make extra care to show how the setting sun background effects the lighting and hading of the characters in the foreground with the side closest to the sun being brightened near the end and the harshness creating a bigger contrast with the rest of there colours being darkened from the far harsher shadows made by the bright lights and setting sun.
Tumblr media
with the shading for the background wanted the tips of the mountains to better show the brightness of the sun contrasted by the lower areas growing ever darker as the sun slowly lowers ever more.
Tumblr media
and here we are back at square one, aside from the dirt applied, to the sign at the bottom right, so were done right? haha no! we still have at leas a few more things to add at this point.
Tumblr media
to add more to the comic idea included the logo design had made sometime after completing this piece along with a white segment to show the issue number and brand name.
Tumblr media
at last i had selected a font to serve as the title, one that would fit the “post apocalypse theme as well as serve as contrast with the somewhat comedic title of the comic.
Tumblr media
And at last to finish it all off a old paper layer to fully complete the old comic look.
Tumblr media
let me just say i am shocking proud of how this one turned out and is probably my second favourite piece of the project, the lighting position background use of lighting and dedication to the bit make it a massive step up from the previous one made and sort of show as a showing of my improvement over the last year or so, utilising an old comic story as a piece in the project itself was honestly one i’m somewhat proud of coming up with as again, it was an opportunity to show my growth over this past yeah, what i learned, what mistakes I’ve learned to avoid and how I innovated from the last piece.

Can u make mc is the actual owner of Cerberus when he was a pup but villagers killed him because they thought that he was a monster and what how would the brothers and the undateable react to that when mc started to cry when she saw Cerberus headcanons
Oh Beans! I totally spaced when reading this and only have the brothers.
I'll post what I have here right now, but this will also be on AO3, so if you keep checking/subscribe there, you'll get a notification when I've added the undateables! It might not be for a while though, since I'm about to start school again ^-^;;
Who's a Good Boy?
The Guard Dog of the House of Hades. A vicious, three-headed hellhound that only the fallen Morningstar himself could command. Unfathomably massive. Devourer of demons, angels, and humans alike. Notoriously difficult to groom.
That is Cerberus, Lucifer’s extremely volatile pet named after a figure from Greek mythology for reasons no one truly understands. The creature has struck fear into the hearts of its housemates, and the Devildom at large, for what feels like ages.
So when MC cries upon seeing the wolf-dog for the first time, none of the brothers are especially surprised. How could a human cross such a monster’s path and live, after all?
Except those who weep in fear usually don’t then barrel full-tilt into one of the monster’s furry legs, babbling incoherently about how they thought they’d never see him again.
One of Cerberus’ heads leans down to the human, and the brothers panic, fearing the worst. It opens its mouth, revealing razor sharp fangs—
And licks MC’s entire body in a saliva-filled canine kiss. Now covered in tears and drool, MC laughs as they shake themself off, teasing the hellhound by saying that they already showered today, thank you very much.
“So, did you miss me as much as I missed you?” they ask, giving Cerberus’ central head some under the chin scritches (the only part of its head they can currently reach).
Cerberus boofs loudly, enormous tail waving back and forth at an increasingly hazardous pace.
Lucifer
What.
Lucifer is dealing with a Lot right now. He almost lost the exchange student to his own dog, except apparently Cerberus used to belong to MC?! How?!
He orders Cerberus to back away from the human, part of him still convinced that this is somehow a combination of MC being mistaken and Cerberus playing with its food, but the hellhound actually growls at him and picks MC up by the back of their shirt, tossing them onto its back.
MC, in response, finds new places to scritch.
He stares at the scene for a few minutes, unable to process what his life has become.
Later, once Cerberus finally agrees to let MC leave, they explain to him that Cerberus used to be a puppy in the human world.
Obviously, he was immediately noted as strange due to his three heads, and the people of MC’s village believed him to be an omen of death. MC themself didn’t care, and just saw “lil’ Cerb” as a puppy like any other, albeit an exceptionally drooly one.
He used to be more or less normal dog-sized, but it quickly became obvious that Cerberus was growing fast, and would be much larger than even a wolf by the time he was done. He also became harder and harder to hide.
Unfortunately, one night they awoke to poor Cerberus being chased out into the night by a mob, never to return.
They assumed the worst, mourned, and got on with their life as best as they could. But seeing Cerberus— they knew it was the same dog as soon as they saw him — brought all those emotions right back to the surface.
It’s not hard to adapt to these strange circumstances. Lucifer is actually quite relieved to have someone who is both willing and able to safely help him in caring for Cerberus, and both MC and the hellhound delight in each other’s company.
Lucifer also won’t deny the pride he feels upon seeing MC, the one he loves, getting along so well with his son dog.
Mammon
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
The P A N I C of seeing MC within bite-chomp-murder-kill distance of Cerberus nearly killed Mammon.
What the hell is he supposed to do against that furball?! MC’s dead meat, a chew toy, he can’t save them again—
WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY D O I N G ? !
Torn between passing out from fear and yelling about how brave and cool HIS human is!
So he kinda just… stands there, slack-jawed, as MC finds a spot on the creature that makes it thump its leg so hard the ground shakes.
Already he’s cooking up ways to use MC’s Cerberus-taming powers to get into all kinds of Shenanigans
Except he quickly learns that while Cerb is much more gentle with MC, it won’t let them distract it from its duties.
Has this resulted in MC semi-unwillingly riding Cerberus as it chases a terrified Mammon throughout the Devildom? Possibly~
Though when MC explains to Mammon how Cerberus used to be their dog, and what had happened to him… He can’t help but feel a touch more sympathetic to the hellhound.
Only a little bit though. It still does try and tear him apart whenever he gets too close, after all.
Leviathan
Levi’s fear metamorphoses into awe much faster than the others’. MC LOOKS SO COOL!! Riding the mighty Cerberus like a steed!
He desperately wishes he had the art skills to capture this iconic moment forever. But alas, a camera will have to do.
It’s a pretty good picture, the comparatively small human sitting on Cerberus’ back like something straight out of a fantasy novel. Levi even has a shot of them accidentally scritching a spot that makes Cerberus breathe fire (like a furry dragon!)
100% gets super emotional when MC tells him how they originally had— and lost— Cerberus as a puppy. It reminds him of his precious Henry 1.0 in some ways…
Begs MC to let him post the photos he took, along with their story as the caption. It’s just too good! It’s exactly like that arc in My Adventurer Boyfriend Keeps Adopting the Monsters He Beats in Combat and Now We’re Running Out of Space to Keep Them!
Like Mammon, Levi also quickly learns that just because he unlocked Cerberus’ tragic backstory, doesn’t mean that the hellhound will treat him any differently.
But sometimes, after a long “walk” with MC, the massive creature will be mostly asleep. And then, his hand shaking, MC will guide Levi to pet Cerberus’ flank. Its tail swishes softly, Levi’s own swaying in response.
Satan
He shakes his head and laughs, torn between relief, awe, shock, and lingering horror for MC’s safety. Of course they can tame even the ferocious Cerberus…
Guess all sorts of angry monsters like MC, huh?
He definitely wants to hear the story of MC owning Cerberus in the past, but first he’s going to drink in the absolutely dumbfounded expression on Lucifer’s face.
Toooootally doesn’t cry upon hearing MC’s story with Cerberus. No way, he’s still a cat person, he swears!
...No one is allowed to comment on Satan’s various burn injuries that occur over the next few weeks.
Not if they don’t want to be left with worse.
Asmodeus
OH SHIT!! Also, ewwwww
Once the fear for MC’s safety subsides, Asmo can appreciate the cuteness and hilarity that is MC with Cerberus. Truly no one is immune to their charms it seems, and their affections know no bounds.
...Is it that same quality that allows MC to continue to care for him and his brothers despite their past actions?
Asmo claims that the smoke from Cerberus’ fire breath is getting into his eyes, prompting him to leave. He has a good long stare-at-a-wall crisis for a bit.
Learning MC and Cerberus’ story only makes him mushier. Their tragedy got a happy ending after all!
As much as he loves MC’s charms, he still insists that they de-drool themself before touching him or any of his things. It stinks like brimstone!
Now if they need any help getting clean… That he can oblige~
Beelzebub
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH part 2
As one of the physically stronger brothers, when Lucifer’s not available it’s Beel’s job to groom Cerberus. He knows how dangerous that mutt is.
But apparently not for MC “Knows No Fear” over there!
As Cerberus continues to remain docile in MC’s presence, Beel starts to appreciate the cuteness of a human and their giant hellhound.
Unabashedly mushy upon hearing MC’s story about Cerberus. The themes of losing a loved one, only to find them much later in a new form… it kinda hits a little close to home for him.
(It’s not a perfect analogy: Beel knows MC isn’t Lilith, but having them as part of her legacy is undeniably cathartic. It’s why he doesn’t share these exact feelings with them, since he knows they’re uncomfortable with being compared to her excessively. Still, he can’t help but note the comparison.)
Naturally, he’s also very happy to have a very useful partner for grooming Cerberus. That living nightmare turns into an overgrown puppy whenever MC’s around. It’s much easier, and much safer, to work with this way.
Plus, it means he gets some quality time with MC! And there’s nothing quite like the fond smiles they share with him during these moments.
Belphegor
He has got to be dreaming. No way is this actually happening— nope, Mammon just stepped on his foot, and that hurt, he’s awake.
WHAT THE FUCK?!
Does MC not fear death? Is that it? Did that part of their brain just completely shut down when he killed them?!
Unlike the others, he can’t really shut down his panic. Sure, right now Cerberus is acting all cuddly, but that could change on a dime. That dog only listens to Lucifer, and right now all Lucifer is doing is staring gormlessly at it!!!
He nearly loses his hand trying to pull MC away from the creature (which it naturally did Not appreciate).
“Belphie, wait! It’s okay,” MC reassures him even as smoke blows out of Cerberus’ nostrils.
They explain their history with the hellhound, how they rescued it as a puppy and then lost it to the angry and frightened people of their village.
Belphegor can’t help but recall their expression when he told them about his imprisonment, the outrage there mingling with a much older emotion. Is that why they were so quick to help him?
He’s still wary of Cerberus. He refuses to be fooled by any facades the creature may be putting up.
But one day, MC invites him to one of their “playdates”. Cerberus watches him like a hawk, growling when he first approaches, but MC just shushes and soothes the monster until it allows him closer.
And maybe, after a few tense minutes, the pair begin to relax around each other.
And maybe, Lucifer has a picture of MC and Belphegor curled up in Cerberus’ fur as the three take a mid-afternoon nap.
And maybe, Belphegor lets him keep it.

Demigod MC Series: Poseidon
Fishy fishy fishy… I honestly could write 100 more things for Poseidon MC and Levi. I just love the dynamic between an insecure, otaku shut-in and a chill California surfer dead set on becoming his friend.
Demigod MC Series: Intro, Aphrodite, Hermes, Hades, Dionysus, Demeter, Athena, Hades Pt. 2, Poseidon
For anyone unaware, Poseidon is also the god of horses. I know it's a weird combo, but I didn't write the mythos.
Lucifer
…..
They came out of the portal….
On a horse….
They brought the mortal down to the Devildom…
On a goddamn horse….
There's a demigod on a live horse brandishing a weapon and doing laps around the Student Council Room…
Congratulations, he already wants to pull his hair out!!
Honestly, it would have been preferable to pluck them out of the sea. At least then they'd just need a towel! What the hell were they going to do with an entire horse!?
And his nightmare didn't stop there. Poseidon is a notoriously mercurial god, prone to bouts of anger and spitefulness for reasons far less grievous than kidnapping his children…
Their apology was swift and (seemingly) effective, though the tide waters around the Devildom did rise by several feet for some time…
As for the MC… uh… Well, they're an energetic one to say the least…
Lucifer hasn't met a more active individual since Mammon. They horseback ride, swim, surf, skateboard, and probably do ten other things - the point is, they Hardly. Keep. Still!
They're also annoyingly easygoing… He can't count the number of times they've told him to, "Just chill out," or, "Hang loose…" What does that even mean??
Between having to order a stable made for their horse and just trying to keep up with them, Lucifer already thinks this mortal has caused him more trouble than they're worth… At least they keep Mammon busy...
Mammon
Upon first meeting them atop their horse, Sunset, his first thought was of course:
"I wonder if I sell that...?"
After that, they nearly fed him to sharks for trying to take their beloved steed on same night. Safe to say, he never touched a hair on its head again…
These two had a rocky start, but their relationship mended fairly quickly. As it turns out, the MC is literally one of those "go with the flow" types. You can say it was water under the bridge soon enough.
Mammon actually thinks the MC is a hell of a lot of fun, even if they're super laid-back. Most of the time, they won’t take his drive for money (or fear of his bills) all that seriously and tell him that he’s worrying too much, but they’ll still lend a hand if its on their way.
He finds their ability to control water pretty cool as well. Levi has it to some extent, but the MC can make a whole-ass whirlpool or use water like a whip!
He once begged them to call up some rare fish for him to sell, but they got all pseudo-philosophical on him about how “trading life for material wealth” is “not cool, dude...”
He also made the mistake of challenging them to a splash fight only once…. They managed to drench the whole family with a single wave….
The only thing that bothers him is their weird insistence on being Levi's "Best Buddy…" Why would someone like them even bother with a shut in??
Is it the water? … Probably water. Levi, that lucky bastard…
Leviathan
Thinks they're a big normie, no scratch that, a HUGE normie! The biggest normie he's ever met!! They skateboard and horseback ride for Devil's sake!!
...But they’re also, undoubtedly, the best friend he could've ever asked for.
To be fair to Levi, their friendship was sort of forced upon him. The MC took one look at him, his aquatic-themed room, and his pet goldfish then declared their new friendship status at that moment.
Unfortunately for him, though, they're energetic, extroverted, and generally have little understanding of personal space… aka, an introvert's worst nightmare…
The next month could accurately be described as the MC doing everything in their power to make their stubborn "senpai" like them.
They would drag him out to the aquarium, beach, or pool; they befriended Henry so he could put in a good word for them; and they'd even bring him little gifts or trinkets they'd find on the ocean floor. Pretty shells and stuff like a cat bringing its master a dead mouse.
After he finally began to accept them as a persistent fixture in his life, he introduced them to gaming and anime and started accepting them little by little...
By the end of their stay, these two were practically inseparable. Not just because they like spending time together, but because they figured out they could have a telepathic link due to Levi being part sea serpent.
No matter how far they are, they can always have a chat! (That no one else can hear so people think they’re just crazy...)
Satan
Satan honestly isn't the MC's biggest fan, he generally finds them too loud and gregarious for his liking. But their horse…?
He never really thought that he'd be a horse man... Yet it didn’t really take long for Satan to adore Sunset, their beautiful golden-maned mare. Apparently she's not their only horse, but by far their favorite traveling companion.
Sunset is a wonderful horse - brave, strong, and well-trained. It only took a few weeks before he was regularly sneaking out to the stables to brush her fur or feed her apples...
After the MC taught him how to ride, that was it. All other forms of transportation were inferior to him now.
Satan would ride Sunset everywhere and he looked damn good doing it! It takes all that fairytale Prince Charming thing he has going on and puts it through the roof.
It's a good thing too, because when I say everywhere, I do mean everywhere. Lucifer had to put seals on the House doors to keep Satan from riding Sunset through the hallways...
Of course, he’ll always let the MC have Sunset back when they need her!... with a little complaining but nothing terrible.
The MC doesn't mind much because Sunset likes him and they know he takes good care of her, but the rest of the House is slightly unnerved at how quickly he went horse crazy… What if they brought a giant crab instead?? No one wants to deal with crab-Satan...
Asmodeus
Their body is just scrumptious. Oh, how he could look at their swimsuit-clad figure all day!! 😩
Between the swimming and the fighting, their form is toned to all hell and he can't get enough of it! Yes baby, yes!! Take those clothes off again!!! He'll help~! 😘
When he's not staring at them “totally respectfully,” then he's inviting them out to pool parties or begging them to take him riding...
There are parts of horseback riding he doesn’t like, the smell and the jostling specifically, but there is a kind of… romance to it, no?
He loves having the chance to snuggle up to the MC as they trot around the Devildom! It's so romantic, like they’re his knight in shining armor! (Or his demigod in a damp swimsuit, either works. 😏)
His Devilgram is just full of selfies of him and MC riding on the back of Sunset or sitting by the edge of the pool or them in the middle of a swim meet…
Yeah his Devilgram is now a one part him and one part MC-Appreciation account.
After the pact he'll eventually cool down some and stop staring at them like a sex-object, but even then he'll be at every swim meet. Don't you worry~
Beelzebub
He actually really likes them! It's great to finally have another athlete in the House. 😊
The MC joined the RAD swim team just as soon the coach was able to convince Diavolo that having the child of a water god wasn't completely cheating...
Since swim and fangol practice ends at about the same time, they walk home together a lot and complain about... sports things... (Forgive me, I don’t know sports. Uhm... Rival teams? Coaches? That one drill everyone hates? Stuff like that.)
Beel also can surf, skate, and snowboard so the two have a healthy competition going. They're about on equal footing so they tie often (except in surfing but Beel doesn't think that should count cause they’re probably cheating).
The only thing that he has to watch out for is Sunset… As in, he has to watch himself around Sunset because he absolutely could eat her on accident…
Look, he doesn't want to and he doesn't even like horse meat that much, but even he has to admit there are times he gets hungry enough to consider it…
Of course, he knows that if he ever did Satan would rip him limb from limb then the MC would drown the rest so he really, really tries to control himself… but still… She’s a very healthy horse...
At least he didn’t try to sell her like Mammon. The MC hung him over a shark tank for that stunt… He’d feel bad, but Mammon kind of had it coming.
Belphegor
The first time they met, the MC smelled like beach water and called him "dude-bro…" He didn't like his prospects.
For a while, he genuinely thought that they had a lump of sand where their brain was. They were just too chill!! Here he was saying that he's being held captive and they were like, "Well that sucks, man… I'll help ya, but I've got practice tomorrow. You can wait, right?"
It's not like he expected them to jump on top of it, but some urgency would have been nice…
When they eventually got around to helping him, he was actually looking forward to choking the life out of them for the extra wait. Unfortunately, they apparently had a horse…
Yeah, Belphie found out just a bit too late that the MC could summon their steed to them whenever they wanted and ended up with Sunset's hooves firmly bucking into his back for his trouble…
What followed was Belphegor running circles around the attic from the weapon-totting MC riding their terrifying murder horse until Lucifer finally intervened....
Thank the gods he wasn’t near any water….
As it would turn out later, as long as he's not being held captive in an attic Belphie kind of vibes with their laid-backness… They say they approach life "one wave at a time" or something.
He could care less about what that actually means, but what it translates to is "Stop stressing out and just keep chill" which he's all about.
Everybody should just chill out!... dude…. Nah, he'll let them stick to the “dude”-thing, it feels weird...

Hii! I haven't read the novel, but do you think that at some point Kinn and Vegas will learn to coexist in the same world? I can't wait to see the Vegas arc, and of course Pete!!!
Hi!
The funny thing is I know most of the spoilers for Kinn and Porsche story and arc for book 1 but I’m not familiar with all of Vegas and Pete’s story. I only know a few tidbits here and there, especially how they start, and Vegas’s role in KinnPorsche’s over all romance arc (which I have stated is one of my favorite things to explore in this story). It’s difficult because without spoilers, Kinn and Vegas have a long past with each other, they were forced to become enemies by external influences, for Vegas these influences are hard to escape from, especially since they’re interconnected mentally and psychologically to his traumas and growth. It’s not easy for him to easily coexist with Kinn when Kinn’s overall presence has been a trigger for him every step of the way and although it isn’t really Kinn’s fault per say, his presence still connects to Vegas’s mind of pain and anger, and the way he copes with that is to turn to ambition and greed to distract and convince himself it’s okay. With Kinn it's the same, while Kinn’s presence have always been a trigger for Vegas since young, Vegas is more connected to Kinn’s traumas in a different form, there’s hurt there, there’s pain and cruelty there from Vegas towards Kinn, and it’s not easy to just pretend that doesn’t matter.
Let’s review what their dynamic is, because Kinn and Vegas’s roles are mirrored after who they are supposed to replace and take after in this chess game, their fathers. Korn is the head of the family but is distrustful and has been betrayed by many families next to him, this is a massive family as shown on Kim’s board, there’s threads of different minor families, and Korn has watched them come and go and try and take his spot, not to mention his own tense relationship (alike Hades and Zeus if you know Greek Mythology) with Kan (Vegas’s father) where the other one feels unfairly beaten and unfairly treated. With the titles being Kinn comes from the Major family, suggests superiority and Vegas being seen as minor to him, is something Kan had to deal with and couldn’t stand. So their fathers started this cycle before they were born, there are instilled ideas there, especially from Kan to Vegas, they’ve been molded and sometimes even forced to compete and hurt one another to try and get the upper hand.
So, it’s not easy for coexisting, Yes Vegas is going to end up with Pete (Kinn’s bodyguard) but because I don’t know how he becomes the right person for Pete, I don’t know what the outcomes of that is for his position in the chess game as the head of the second family, and what that means for the competition between the two of them. I hope there’s some sort of healing but with the amount of things they have gone through, they have thought and done to each other (mostly Vegas to Kinn) I don’t see an easy path to forgiveness, I don’t see how Kan will let go of his greed and hunger for the throne either, so I don’t know how Vegas can escape those shackles that bound him, yes Pete will be very powerful for that but how powerful? That’s why I’m excited to explore the dynamic between these two because I know the pain and hurt that binds them in this inescapable fate from the sins of their fathers. This cycle of betrayal and greed. A war Korn calls it in episode 5, because it is, and it’s up to them and their lovers to stop the cycle but when I don’t know. However, could there be someone else that causes them to work together later to defeat a common obstacle to both their roles? Maybe, I would think narratively that makes sense, but I don’t know if that happens since I have no clue about the outcome of VegasPete’s arc.
Everything to do with Vegas in this show is complicated and painful, it’s conflicting and disturbing, it’s hard to love him but it's hard to leave him and not understand him, there’s a reason for his madness, his monstrosity, his chaos. And I want to see how this team and Bible transform his story for us to see that. I actually love Vegas a lot during his role in KInnPorsche arc, but his role in his own love story is too much to bear from where I’m at with spoilers, I honestly want to see how the show shows me how he becomes who he needs to be for Pete. Because we’ve not seen the real Vegas yet, there’s glimpses of him in episode 5 of the humanity stolen from him, the innocence but there’s also glimpses of him in episode 4 in his dungeon where he’s cultivating the monster inside him. Pete unfortunately shows up at the time the monster is no longer hidden and caged, and that’s the most stressful part of their journey. But monsters can love, monsters can be tamed, monsters can learn, and I can’t wait to see Vegas find the strength and catalyst to take back what was cruelly ruined and tainted for him.
Thanks anon. Hope that answers your question mostly focused on speculation to be honest since like I said it’s a blurry line for me when we get towards the next arc for him and Pete. But it’s one I think if taken time and effort to fully explain will be one of the best narratives in this genre for a long time. Vegas potentially could be the best character ever written!

Jason and Juno
I just want to talk about them. I have so many feelings and I can’t find anyone else that cares about them. But, like, why not?
Because Rick ignored Jason in HoO and I still haven’t got my Roman prequels, that’s why.
I freaking love Jason anyway and I always have. And I admit, reading original PJO, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Hera, but we weren’t really supposed to be I don’t think. But Juno? Nah man, Juno is cool.
Everybody seems to write her off because she’s Hera and we all know Hera sucks, and obviously Percy and Annabeth don’t like Hera so makes sense that we kinda subconsciously take their lead. But Juno is cool - and I will absolutely fight that corner forever. It’s like, Ares was kinda a dick in many regards, but Mars was a good dad to Frank, Mars was cool too.
Juno was one of the only gods interested in actively helping demigods, particularly her favoured ones, sure, but she still tried to help. And she obviously cared about them too. Not just Jason, it was very evident she liked Leo a lot too (and I love that too). And we know - at least from ToA - that she had a soft spot for Frank too (and honestly who can blame her).
But yeah, so I actually dig Juno in HoO. She helped out, she was awesome, she was actively nice at least to Jason.
So that’s the first thing to get over. Hate Hera if you want to - but let me convince you that Juno is better. Re-read the books and look for her being nice and cool. Because it’s there.
On top of that though, the relationship between Juno and Jason just makes me so happy and warm. I love it so much, even though I haven’t seen anyone else that seems to care.
Jupiter was at least as much of a dick as Zeus was - that’s something everyone agrees on I think. And I think a lot of us if not everyone can agree that he was a worse dad to Jason than he was to Thalia. And maybe that’s because he washed his hands of responsibility for him after he gifted Jason to Juno. (Dick move btw.) but either way, he basically ignored Jason his entire life and throughout HoO. He was hands down one of the most distant godly parents of the seven and of a lot of main heroes we’ve followed in the series’. So Jason couldn’t really depend on him for help or guidance an awful lot and basically felt like he didn’t have a father. But at least he had Juno.
Juno was a good patron to him. She helped him where she could. She actively and genuinely cared about him. She tried to make herself available for chats when he needed them as much as she could. Gave him presents (his gladius) and praise when he did well, pep talks for what was ahead. As pseudo foster mothers go, she really wasn’t bad. Closest thing Jason had to a parent, and yeah, he could’ve had worse. He did have worse with his alcoholic slightly off the rails actual mother who gave him away, and had worse in a dad who never spoke to him or saw him or lifted a finger to help him until the very last second and who also gave him away. I kinda gotta figure after that kind of treatment from both your actual parents, getting what he got from his patron was probably very appreciated.
And Juno/Hera is the goddess of marriage and family among other things. Throughout the series it’s pretty much her biggest hang up. And obviously she wasn’t always the best mother (poor Hephaestus) to her actual kids, but she kinda held Olympus together. Stopped them all tearing each other apart. Family was important to her and something she valued. Obviously she hated when her husband cheated on her and had someone else’s kids. Honestly? That’s pretty reasonable to be unhappy about. But she watched the rest of her family, literally forever, having kids willy nilly when they wanted to. Obviously Artemis didn’t, but she didn’t want kids and she had the hunters so that’s fine. For someone that loves family so much, it’s very possible she could’ve been a little envious of everyone else having huge families. She still had her Olympian family, but maybe she would’ve liked to have some demigods of her own, if it didn’t involve cheating which she just won’t do. She favoured original Jason and was his patron too, so she was happy enough to adopt them, but it still wasn’t something she did often. So she didn’t get a lot of mortal kids and might’ve felt like she was missing out. But at least she had Jason.
So, being given another little adopted demigod, hell yeah she probably loved mothering him. He was totally her kid. He didn’t have any parent or family to be there for him, she didn’t have any demigod kids of her own and knew she never will. That’s hella cute that they can adopt each other.
Everyone loves found families lately - well this is basically that. Kinda forced at first but doesn’t mean they wouldn’t grow to love each other. They helped each other, could depend on each other. Juno is literally the patron of Rome as well. So even if Jason hadn’t known from the off that he’d been given to Juno, he’d have still had the sense that she had his back along with the rest of Rome, so he might’ve asked for a little help or guidance before HoO, maybe while he was Praetor too. And Juno being New Rome’s patron would’ve probably kept an eye over Camp Jupiter and especially when Jason rose to Praetor she could’ve been paying more attention to him from then. Watched out for him during the Titan War.
I want to know more about them. Especially if Jason was fully aware that she was his patron the whole time before HoO. I want them to have had some sort of relationship. I want them to like each other at least a little. Nico and Hades got closer eventually. Percy and Poseidon (and honestly a bunch of the gods) got on well. Mars adored Frank. Aphrodite seems pretty cuddly with her kids in general. I don’t think it’d be a terrible stretch for Juno and Jason to have each other’s backs.
I want to know if Jason ever made offerings for her along with Jupiter. Burnt food at CHB for her as well as his dad.
I want to know if Juno ever helped him out on earlier quests at all, whether he knew it or not. If she ever gave him and maybe Reyna too, sort of a Praetor deal, counsel.
I want to see Juno fully lean into having Jason as her favourite, as her chosen hero. I want to see her lend some power to him when he needs it. I want to see Jason with the Blessing of Juno. How many demigods would’ve ever gotten that? That’s unheard of. I want it for him. I want to see him marching on Mount Othrys to take down Krios and topple the throne, not with the blessing of Jupiter (although I would also love to see him with that, that would be so cool!) but with the blessing of Juno, patron of Rome. I wanna see him monologuing Krios into intimidation like he did to the giants: I'm the son of Jupiter, I'm a child of Rome, consul to demigods, praetor of the First Legion. I slew the Trojan sea monster, I have the blessing of Juno: Patron of Rome. And she also happens to be my stepmom, dick.
I talked about it in another post before, him getting her blessing. Supposedly with her Roman counterpart she’s supposed to be militaristic, strategic, etc. A blessing from his dad would be like an explosion of power, don’t get me wrong. It’d be like Thor in Infinity War. Magnificent. He could totally burst into the palace and fry Krios and destroy the throne. But I think it’d also be pretty damn awesome if he got zapped with her blessing and became like the ultimate military leader (kind of like Frank with Mars’ blessing I suppose, but more strategic instead of hitting the protein shakes), leading the troops in the invasion and being a total Praetor before he even became Praetor.
Side note: It’s probably not possible but can you imagine if he got blessings from both of them?? I doubt you can have two at a time, but that would be spectacular if he did. Especially from Jupiter and Juno. He would be incredibly powerful, no wonder the Legion made a big deal out of him in the early part of the series. Always was a little disappointed we never got to see cool Roman Jason. I love Jason, I do, but he wasn’t exactly what we heard about in The Lost Hero and Son of Neptune. It never felt like we saw his full potential. So I’m just gonna sit in my corner and dream it up instead lol.
Anyway, this was purely for me because I have a lot of feelings about these two and I couldn’t find anything about them at all or not anything positive. But if anyone else likes them or has ideas or there is stuff you can point me to, please do, I want to get involved in it and find people that are into this so bad!

heroes of olympus ranked by the saddest/worst childhoods:
(my opinion. you don’t have to agree, that’s okay).
1. HAZEL - i think this is self explanatory. black girl in southern america in the 30s, bullied badly. then watched her mother get possessed by the earth mother, father didn’t care, forced to move on her thirteenth birthday to alaska. was repeatedly told she was a bad, sick child. then was forced to do unspeakable things by marie/gaea, used her powers to make a body for a giant, then had no other choice but to kill herself and her mother to stop gaea from rising. THEN gave up elysium so her mother wouldn’t get the field of punishment. in the Son of Neptune, during one of her backstories, Hazel says, “Hazel felt as if she were expanding to the breaking point, just like that spire in the pit. Her misery would soon become to great to hold inside, and her skin would shatter.” excuse me while i go and sob 😭
2. Reyna - girl her backstory is so fucking sad. watched her dad become insane and paranoid. her dad collected weapons and turned their house into a fortress, and locked her in her room, and when she and her sister would sneak out and get caught, he would throw furniture and yell at them. then he becomes convinced that reyna and hylla are the enemy. ghosts of her ancestors would watch reyna from afar (creepy af). then julian becomes a mania and after they snuck out one day, reyna was TEN, julian got so angry he started glowing, ripping up their house and threw a chair at hylla. reyna then thought her sister was dead as it knocked her unconscious, then had no choice but to kill her own father. a ghost appeared before her and taunted her, telling her she would never flee her crime and never forget her past, calling her a murderer and traitor. then she went to circe’s island and that got destroyed by yours truly percy jackson and annabeth chase, then she was kidnapped by the pirates (who did gods knows what to her) for months and then managed to escape. then she and her sister parted ways after all those years together where they had no one but each other. okay, maybe reyna should be number one.
3. Nico - lots of people would think he needs to be 1, but i don’t think so, and i’m talking about backstories only. he saw his mother walk into a hotel and then watched it explode after it got struck by lightning. then he got his memory wiped and then they were left with a bank trust and a lawyer would come in to check them every once in a while. oh, and then he got stuck in the lotus hotel for seventy years, which they only thought was a month. then westover hall. then bianca dies. yeah.
4. Jason - ugh this boy. his mother left him at the wolf house and told him that she’d be back, but never was. so jason, a little two year old boy, was left crying in the ruins and yelling for his mom and thalia. he was then taken in by wolves (can you imagine how scary that must’ve been for a little boy?) and was raised and trained like a roman soldier. there was no weakness. he wasn’t allowed to, or else he would be eaten alive. yeah. then he made it to camp jupiter and was offered first cohort for being a son of jupiter but denied it. he befriended the least popular kids and went on the least glamorous quests, but was still considered a prince and had everyone’s eyes on him from such a young age. he spent twelve years in the legion and was always the leader. then he led the assault on mount othrys and defeated the titan krios with hand to hand combat, and toppled kronos’s throne. this isn’t tragic, but what is tragic is that he and the legion never got a thanks from the gods.
5. Leo - his fucking nanny tia callida laid him in an actual fire pit and sang him lullabies like some sort of psychopath. and tia callida gave him knives when he was three. she told him to poke a rattlesnake in the grass with a stick (oh that’s super smart for a four year old boy to do). his cousin raphael bullied him. his aunt rosa made him eat with dead people. then, when trying to hurt gaea, she made him angry and made his hands catch on fire. leo fell into a rage and tried to save himself and his mother, but accidentally killed his mother and burned her alive. and then his aunt rosa turned his entire family against him (called him the devil) and told the social care workers to take him away and stuffed him into foster care. he was bullied badly and would run away from his foster care homes and, when he was in between foster homes, would sleep under an actual bridge.
6. Annabeth - since she was a demigod, annabeth was a target for monsters which caused constant fighting between her dad and her stepmother who felt like she was putting everyone (as in her two twin stepsiblings) in danger. she was assaulted by spiders, her worst fear, for three days each night as a seven year old girl. she would scream for her father but he was never there and her stepmother didn’t believe her. as a seven year old girl, she believed her family hates her, so she ran away and smashed monsters with a hammer with the guidance of her immortal mother for MONTHS. then she was taken in by luke and thalia and they became her family. then they found grover and were chased by monsters sent from hades, who was looking to kill thalia for revenge. grover took wrong turns and led them into a cyclops lair on accident. then the cyclops lured everyone except annabeth, who stabbed one of the cyclops in the foot. the group was chased by a pack of hellhounds and all three furies on their way to half-blood hill. she was forced to watch thalia be overran by monsters and killed and dragged away by luke. she heard the great prophecy when she was ten and had nightmares about it because chiron told her she “would have a big part to play”, and that brings us to tlt. damn.
7. Percy - strangled a snake at a day care center when he was two (this is pretty traumatic). was bullied and abused by his stepfather from a very young age and had to watch his mother be in an awful relationship. was bullied badly by other people. he was in military academies where they believed “paddling is good for the soul.” he was stalked by a cyclops in the third grade.
8. Frank - his mother died in a military accident and was then raised by his grandmother. he was then told, at his mother’s funeral, that his whole entire life depends on this little piece of fire wood that if burned, he would literally fall over dead. then, that same evening, he was told he was going to be shipped off to wolves and then to camp jupiter (if he survived its trials ofc).
9. Piper - she fell off a horse when she was six and drove past a meat processing place that made her sick 😭 (this is a joke). but for real, her rich super star dad avoided her and didn’t pay any attention to her, which caused her to act out. she was bullied for being cherokee. and then she finds out months of her life was just a trick of the mist and that her boyfriend doesn’t actually like her at all? sad man.

Part five of marriage AU. Sorry for being gone for so long, I'm moving rn and my dog had to go the vet so I been busy. Hope you enjoy. Part six should out later this week.. net part will have more hypnos x reader.
🌙💤💤🌙
Time passed much quickly here. Almost too fast. Weeks had passed into a full month before You knew it.
Dusa came every other day to dust and You looked forward to your chats.
The library was coming together nicely. Even though You did have to read every scroll since no one, not even Nyx knew what they held.
Nyx had been surprised by how much there was. You thought you even saw the faintest of blush on her cheeks.
"I knew I had a big collection but I didn't realize how many I've picked over the years." Nyx murmured. "I was so busy raising several children along with Zagreus once he came later with Hypnos and his brother."
You also found out that Hypnos had way more siblings, way way more than you had sisters. But you haven't quite gotten the story about why he talked only about two of his brothers.
You peeked over the scroll you were reading in hopes that maybe somehow it had gotten smaller.
The pile still loomed threatenly the corner.
You tsk when you saw it was still the same as before.
Slowly, the gods and shades of the underworld were becoming friends of sorts.
Zagreus, much like Hypnos, had also become a regular to your library. Often with questions about your former home and any advice you may have.
You knew you weren't getting the full story of why he really wanted out but all in due time.
Charon, a god that Hermes often talked about, was nerve wracking to meet at first but he warmed up quickly to You when sharing stories of Hermes.
Nyx, even as your mother in law, had become someone who You looked forward to having the chats with. The both of you talked over the scrolls and you quite enjoyed the stories of her youth, the rare times she talked about it.
And there was Dusa, Achilles (even after that embarrassing day), even Cerberus would give you a small single wag in greeting.
And so many others. They felt more… honest. Your old home had rules and politics that you were never able to quite grasp.
You never felt right at home, with a different father than all of your sisters and a different power from all of them.
But they loved you and you loved them in return.
Homesick as you were, You were embarrassed to admit there was someone else on your mind.
Hypnos.
You haven't seen Hypnos since that night he slept in your bed. Not really anyway.
He came once a day for a few minutes, made a quick comment on the library or at Zagreus if the prince was going through the scrolls when he came in. But that's it. You felt almost like a pet that Hypnos just made sure was still alive before taking off to wherever.
You blinked at the scroll as you realized that you didn't read a single word. Your mind had drifted away from the scrolls and back to Hypnos.
Again.
🌙💤💤🌙
"Do you have anything on a thing called a Bone Hydra?" Zagreus had asked one day out of the blue, his desperation was clear in his voice.
You put down your tasks list to look at him. "I know what a hydra is but what do you mean by a bone hydra?"
Zagreus slumped, "It is this horrible thing that-"
"Didn't I already tell you what you needed to do?" Hypnos interrupted. "Just don't get hit or die!" He floated to the pile and plucked some scrolls from the top.
Zagreus sighed, "I know, I know. Don't die. It doesn't help as much as you think, Hypnos."
Hypnos dropped the scrolls on the table for you. Slowly but surely the piles had been going down. However, it was helpful to have someone who can easily get to the top.
"Maybe the issue is that you're not moving fast enough." Hypnos said.
"Yes, I am sure that is exactly why, Hypnos. Thank you, all my problems are now solved." Zagreus rolled his eyes.
"Fantastic! Glad to be of service!" Hypnos laughed.
You had to cover a smile before you looked back at Zagreus.
"Zagreus, if I find anything on this bone hydra you will be the first to know." You said.
"Y/N, you're being too kind to Zagreus. Like I said, just move faster."
You laughed at Zagreus' eye roll.
"So this is where you been hiding boy." Hades stepped in the room despite being almost too tall to do.
The energy in the room changed in a way you never felt before. The sheer anger that came from both father and son made the room feel so small.
All three of you stood but it was Hypnos who moved toward you. He blocked you from Hades' sight, his smile never leaving his face. But there was a tightness to his smile. You peeked around him, eyes focused on Zagreus and his father.
Zagreus scoffed, "Oh good Father you were able find the library, would you like some help reading or -"
"Watch your mouth, boy." Hades growled. Then he turned to look directly at you and Hypnos.
You tighten your hands, hoping your nervousness won't show.
"Y/N. Correct?" Hades asked but not in a way that was a question.
You pushed past Hypnos and You ignored his look, you did tell him you couldn't hide from Hades forever.
"Yes. It is a pleasure to meet you, Master Hades."
For a moment, no one said anything.
Then finally Hades spoke, "I heard from Nix about your work on the library."
"Yes, I have some experience with libraries and thank you for the opportunity." You replied, grateful that your voice stayed calm.
"Hmm." Hades looked around the library and You wanted to hide behind Hypnos but resisted the urge.
"Father, what is it that you want?" Zagreus sighed, "Can't you tell you are making everyone uncomfortable?"
Hades' eyes snapped back to Zagreus, "Silent! Your rudeness is what makes people uncomfortable."
Without taking his eyes off his son, Hades said to You. "Y/N, you may continue your work."
"Yes sir, t-thank you." You said, your heart racing, still not convinced father and son will start fighting in the library.
You felt Hypnos' hand on your back, warm and steady, and you let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding in.
"Well!" Hypnos said cheerfully, "Y/N needs to get back to work and I know I certainly do."
Hades sighed, "Yes You do. In fact, Hypnos. I need to have a word with you. Alone."
Without waiting for Hypnos' agreement, Hades turned and walked off.
"I'm sorry about my Father." Zagreus' hands in
"No. It's fine. Went as well as it could have." You said, glad the whole event was over.
Zagreus murmured his excuses and quickly left the library.
A moment passed and you turned your head to look up at Hypnos, his hand still on your back.
"Thank you." You whispered, a blush on your cheeks.
"Oh, sure. Hades takes some getting used to." Hypnos grinned. "I've to go see what Hades wants from me."
"Are you okay with being alone with...him?" You asked. You would happily never share a room with Hades ever again, let alone a one on one meeting.
His hand moved away and you found yourself already missing the warmth.
"Of course, he loves my charming wit." Hypnos waved a hand in farewell.
You laughed and watched Hypnos floated off.
With a sigh, you fell into your chair. Not even the underworld gods were spared of politics and drama.
🌙💤💤🌙
"So- so could I ask you a question?" Dusa asked, her duster moved in quick, neat movements.
You pulled your eyes away from the new take list you made. Since the library was getting closer and closer to being done, you had thought about opening it up but there was still much to do. Also you weren't sure of the best to keep track of who borrowed what. And you still needed to ask Nix but you pushed the thoughts out.
"Of course, Dusa. Is there a scroll you're looking for?"
"Well, no. I wanted to ask… how did you and Hypnos meet? I wasn't aware he was seeing anyone let alone getting married." Dusa bit her lip, "But don't feel like you have to talk about it if you don't want to! I know it is not any of my business."
"No. No, it's fine. I didn't meet him until our wedding or at least I think so." You put down your quill. You couldn't help but feel like you met him before that but for the life of you, you couldn't remember. "It was an arranged marriage. I… I've been told he did a favor for my mother during a war, one she would have lost if not for him."
Dusa bobbed next to you, "I'm sorry. I don't know why people or gods act like their daughters are things to trade. It's like they don't even see their daughters as full people."
You blinked, surprised at Dusa's tone. But you smiled, liking the more fiery side of your friend.
"I don't know either. But at least he is kind to me. And he hasn't been pushy if you know what I mean or anything like that. It could have been worse."
"That's good!" Dusa sighed, "Hypnos and I don't exactly get along really but I'm glad to know he has been kind to you."
"You don't? Is there a reason?" You cupped your face in your hands, elbows eyes on Dusa.
Hypnos didn't talk about other people in the house, other than his mother and brother. You wanted to know more but couldn't get him to crack in the few minutes you saw him every day.
"Well I mean." Dusa paused as if trying to find the words. "He isn't mean but you can tell he doesn't care about his work. And he doesn't seem to understand why anyone else cares. He… I don't know. I'm making it sound worse than it is. I'm sorry, Y/N."
She bobbed again nervously. "He is a good guy! He and I just don't click at all."
You smiled even as a knot formed in your chest. Is that what Hades wanted with Hypnos a few weeks ago? Again you cursed yourself for not being able to get Hypnosis to talk to you.
"It's okay, Dusa. It is not a big deal."
After a few more minutes of chitchat, Dusa left, her duster still working madly.
You sat down and stared down at your list. The words might as well be scribbles for all of the sense it made to you.
With a sigh, you pushed away the papers. Why in the world do you care that Hypnos wouldn't talk to you? Or that you still didn't understand a bloody thing about the god.
Why do you care at all?
