Hello there! My name is Professor Bellamy Amaryllis, though most people who know me call me Amy. My kid @eartheats encouraged me to make an account on here- I guess that's what all the cool kids are doing nowadays, haha!

I’m agender and intersex and use They/He pronouns- She for some specific people as well. I'm Polyam, as well, so no need to go telling my partner about seeing me out and about- I assure you she knows!

If you were a child or have been around children anytime in the last 7 years you might know me as the Wild Guy, from my TV show Professor Amaryllis’s Wild Days! While I've been off the air for a year or so it's bloomed in popularity even still- it's hard to go too far without someone knowing who I am, hah!

I'm a poison specialist (though I have an affinity for fairy types as well) and one of the overseeing professors at the Goldenrod Ecological Society, really just a fancy title for the person who makes sure all the science is ethical, reliable and well documented. It's a lot of admin and outreach work and while it keeps me busy it's quite fulfilling.

This is a personal account, so I’ll be talking more about my life than my job, so sorry if you’re looking for a blog of just pokemon facts, because this certainly is not it.

Hello!!! My name is Rabbit and I’m an adult, so be warned that there may be suggestive themes at times on this blog! I also will be doing some high stakes stuff!

Amy has a very detailed past, and he has his secrets and motives!! there’s usually at least something going on under the surface hehe so I wish you luck in trying to puzzle this man out! This character is my own personal Pepe Sylvia red string board and I enjoy playing him that way :)

Meet the Aether Beyond the Binary Contributors: Mikki Madison

Today, we’re kicking off introducing y’all to the contributors to Aether Beyond the Binary, our currently crowdfunding awesome anthology of 17 stories set in aetherpunk settings starring genderqueer and non-binary characters, with an interview with writer Mikki Madison and excerpt from her contribution!

About Mikki Madison: Mikki Madison has been writing stories since she was seven years old. While she is most prolific in fanfiction and has works scattered among more than a dozen fandoms, she has been making strides into original fiction. Her favorite genres to read are romance, fantasy, and cozy mysteries. Q&A with Mikki Madison

Are you a pantser, a planner, or a planster? What’s your process look like?

I’m a planner. I virtually always have an outline for any project I’m working on, whether it’s a quick scribbled bullet list or more involved note cards. The note cards are typically for novels, while short stories I can get away with something less involved. It helps to keep me on track and if the story veers while I’m writing, I can adjust either the outline or the story as I need to.

Do you like having background noise when you create? What do you listen to? Does it vary depending on the project, and if so, how?

It varies depending on project and also where I am. I have a bunch of story- or genre-specific iTunes playlists that I would listen to whenever I was at in-person write-ins, which usually contained movie and video game scores because I write most easily with instrumental music playing. So if I was writing a fantasy story, I’d have a playlist with the score from the LOTR movies or Final Fantasy games, and if it was a sci-fi story, I’d have Star Wars, and steampunk would be the movie scores from the Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes movies. Recently someone in the DPP server shared a link to a YouTube channel with immersive writing sessions that are about 2 hours long, with 25-minute sprints interspersed with 5-minute breaks. I’ve been putting that channel on the TV while I’m writing at home and it’s really helped me focus!

What are your favorite snacks and/or drinks to consume while creating?

As you can probably tell from a glance at my Tumblr, I love tea. I’m virtually always drinking tea, especially when it’s cold outside.

What are your favorite tropes?

Found family is one of my absolute favorite tropes. I love seeing a disparate group of people come together to care about each other. I’m also a huge fan of rivals to lovers and second-chance romances. Plus, the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one!! I love it when the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one.

Tell us about your pet(s).

Right now, I don’t have any full-time pets – I foster dogs for a local rescue. I’ve had 9 dogs over the course of the past year, from 80-pound coonhounds to 3-pound chihuahua puppies. It’s been extremely rewarding and I’ve had so much fun getting to know all the different dogs. It’s hard when I have to let them go, but I know that they’re not “my” dogs and I’m happy that they’re getting to go to a forever family.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

This quote from E.L. Konigsburg: “Finish. The difference between being a writer and being a person of talent is the discipline it takes to apply the seat of your pants to the seat of your chair and finish. Don’t talk about doing it. Do it. Finish.”

Novels in particular are marathons, and finishing a story of that length is a skill you’ve got to build. It’s fine if it gets trunked, it’s fine if you never edit it, but I think especially as a younger writer, you really need to learn to at least finish that first draft. It helped me tremendously early on to focus on finishing my stories, instead of just editing the beginnings over and over and over.

What are your favorite resources and tools for your craft?

A friend of mine has gifted me a couple of writing-related card decks – one is a prompt deck called Writer’s XL Emergency Pack, another is a card game called Once Upon a Time. I’ve recently been using both to come up with short story ideas and it’s been really fun!

I draw anywhere from 3-9 cards, depending on the length of what I’m doing, and then start brainstorming how to use the different cards within a story. If I’m not feeling one of the cards, I discard it and draw another one.

For example, I was recently working on a story where I knew one of the MCs didn’t want to work with the other one, but I didn’t know why. I knew that was going to be a big plot point, but none of the ideas I’d come up with seemed to fit. So I started drawing some cards out of the Once Upon a Time deck to see if that might spark something. Three of the first cards I drew were “secret,” “wolf,” and “cure.” Bam! A secret werewolf looking for a cure. That gave me my motivation and helped me outline the back half of the story.

When you’re writing short stories for NaNoWriMo and you’re desperately trying to come up with something else for your word count, these are lifesavers. And I like the physicality of shuffling and drawing them.

Share five of your favorite books.

Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett – if you enjoy fantasy and comedy and you haven’t yet read the Discworld series, this is a fantastic place to start. The Night Watch books are probably my favorites and this one is excellent.

The Heiress Effect by Courtney Milan – Honestly I love all of Courtney Milan’s romance novels, but The Brothers Sinister series (of which The Heiress Effect is the second book) is really, really great. I love Jane, the heroine of this story, SO MUCH, and the secondary romance between her sister and a lawyer is so, so sweet. I’ve read it three or four times at this point.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune – I love found families and fantasy and romance, so this book was right up my alley and I read the entire thing in one go. The kids particularly were wonderful.

The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi – Another book I read in one go, and it was SO much fun that I couldn’t put it down. Scalzi’s sci-fi is both funny and accessible, and another thing I liked about this book was that the first-person POV and the unisex name (Jamie) meant that you can read the main character as any gender you’d like.

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers – I really loved the structure of this book: essentially several episodes of this ship’s crew becoming closer as they make their way across the galaxy on a yearlong journey to help create a new wormhole. It was both fascinating and heart-wrenching.

And my +1 (because we do 5+1 in fandom, yeah?): A Clash of Steel by C. B. Lee – This is a queer YA retelling of Treasure Island set in 1820s China, and it’s an absolute delight. Lee’s descriptions are so vivid that it feels like you’re actually there, and the romance is so, so good.

Jules pulled the shirt down to reveal a tattoo of three interlocking rings, about the size of a half-dollar.

Something you 100% know why it’s popular: pop music! So many people around me think it’s “boring” unless it’s a nostalgia hit but like no? It’s catchy! “It’s repetitive” not everything has to break the cycle Linda sometimes it’s about finding the exact same 4 chords sung by the specific person you like. Taylor Swift and co, pop off!

You’ve heard of cats vs dogs, but how about birds vs fish? Hamsters/Guinea Pigs (yes I’m putting them in the same category they’re like the same thing) vs rabbits? Basically just name your favorite household pet regardless of if you’ve ever had one!: I like fish! They’re very pretty, smarter than people would think, and they don’t smell like other animals do imo. I remember having fish, good times :3

One unpopular opinion of yours, it can be as big or small as you want! (Though if there’s arguments about politics anywhere in replies or comments I will delete them. I know politics can be important, but tumblr (at least THIS tumblr) is not the place for that): stop saying that female cats are bratty and evil cats are just little guys. They are both bratty and both little guys. How is this even a stereotype I’ve heard before???

my name is rory, i suppose i’m the primary holder of this account. i’m from galar (spikemuth, specifically), & i specialize in mostly dark-type pokemon! i completed my gym challenge as a kid with raihan, sonia, and leon and that kinda set me on this path. since then i’ve kinda found a home in unova but i travel a lot back and forth so i’m hardly there. i’ve been with my partners, umbreon and obstagoon, since my gym challenge.

I am indeed fascinated and intrigued

im so happy

okay so to start it off, it’s about pokemon. about pokemon black & white specifically. my best friend & i are huge fans of this game in particular, and talk about it together often. sometimes we’re having deep thoughts about what this or that means. sometimes we’re just looking at lines and going waugh. sometimes, we notice something, and then look at each other with the kind of horror that having too much knowledge can cause.

in pokemon b&w, the main bad guy’s name is ghetsis. he’s, for the sake of speed, an asshole. there’s so much more here, but that’s enough for this bit.

he has these other six guys who follow his lead - the seven sages, and he’s one of them. one of these sages is named zinzolin.

zinzolin is. well he has many problems, but if you were to offer him exactly one word, i think it would be “cold.” this man is an ice type trainer, who goes from place that’s snowing to place covered in ice to place that’s freezing, and then complains about the cold.

to explain how badly this man in particular has invaded my friend’s mind, if she realizes she’s cold, she will suddenly think of him. he plagues her. she hates him with a passion.

now, the reason for this hatred is that we have, as it happens, decided that zinzolin is down so fucking bad for ghetsis.

this revelation came to us when we were making a very sad and symbolic au, see. and we decided that this - whatever they have - needs to be messy and hilarious.

therefore, they are friends with benefits, and ghetsis thinks it’s no homo. and also that this is 100% part of the manipulation to keep zinzolin on his side.

zinzolin is aware that it is very homo, and has no clue ghetsis is attempting to manipulate him, but he’s in love with his boss and whatever he’s doing is working, so 👍👍👍

alright, now to the explanation of the blocks:

zinzolin is obvious. i introduced him as cold. i’d put him in a freezer if i could. he puts himself in a freezer twice, so i don’t have to.

ghetsis, on the other hand is more complex than that… he’s not so easy to put in a box…. he’s many things, he’s a very evil guy, he has so many parts to him-

and yet he’s so extremely simple, to the point where a couple hours ago i compared him to a concrete wall, and realized that the metaphor works extremely well. the metaphor is a different story entirely, but it explains the use of the concrete block very quickly.

so, the idea of the ghetzolin ship is horrific to my friend, and so i did my very best to simplify if as much as possible, while still making it obvious to the two of us, in the know.

as you’ll recall, her response:

i’ve been done explaining my concrete wall metaphor for a long while now, but i’ve just realized something.

and my wording leads me to realize something else

which are just a couple very simple and common words that cause the best reaction of all time, that left me cry laughing into my hands:

I think I’ve talked about all that stuff before but if you want more details or specifics just ask!

For the last couple years, my really big influences have all been other artists I’ve met online. I mean I made a whole book with @ordheist and @bagb0ss. There’s a sort of loose cloud of (mostly) SFF artists that I’ve been really lucky to work and speak with and we all kinda know or know of each other or end up in the same Discord servers, or working on the same RPGs, etc. I’m not gonna link everybody but if you go through the interviews I’ve conducted for my newsletter or check out my side blog you’ll start to figure out who I mean (seriously a lot of these people are coming to tumblr now from twitter and I’ve been reblogging the hell out of them.) Seeing all the stuff my peers are putting out and talking with them is the source of like 90% of the ideas for my personal illustrations these days. It’s cool to be part of a community. I wish there were more opportunities to meet in person, but it’s still cool.

The other stuff that’s really been in my head lately is art that’s less illustrative, more abstract and graphical. Not pure abstraction mind you, but I’ve really been digging stuff that’s more about communicating a concept, feeling, piece of information, or idea than a narrative. More about design and composition than rendering. I recently read Philip Meggs’ History of Graphic Design and that’s turned me on to so new many artists and styles. In particular I’ve fallen in love with all the Vienna Secession guys, the Glasgow Style artists, and all the graphic and bookmaking ideas that came out of the Arts and Crafts movement. I don’t know how I want to work these ideas into my drawings yet and I haven’t had a lot of time to experiment lately but they're definitely bouncing around in my head.

There’s a whole lot of art that I really love but it rarely gets reflected in my drawings- American Regionalist paintings, gig posters, childrens’ storybooks, Eastern European Mosaics, Native American art, outsider art, colonial Americana …. One day I’ll find a way to synthesize it all.

It Changes, like Water (CH. 6)

Summary: Akari has just met Gaeric for the first time and is still a little rattled by the experience. Ingo tries to reassure her by telling her a story.

Content Warning: Blood, bodily injury, and wild animal attack

Notes: I've made this in honor of Monsoon-of-Art and their PLA mer au (and just a touch from a different au where Gaeric acts as Irida's guardian). Many of the scenes in this fic are directly inspired by their work, there mer stuff more specifically. I've been a big fan of them since I started playing PLA and I've only grown to love all their characterizations of some of my favorite characters in all of Pokemon.

The last one! Woo~ If you've made it this far, thanks so much for the read. I had excellent inspiration and the power of Lexapro and ginseng giving me strength to write the first new fanfic I've done in months. Between school, work, and trying to sort out my depression and anxiety with medications, its been rough. Writing is one of my favorite outlets, as is Pokemon - not having the motivation or time to do much of either… well, I'm just glad to have them back.

Thank you so much to the community of writers and artists in the PLA and Pokemon fandom at large for inspiring me everyday to make more of the content I love. You keep doing you, guys.

Ingo finished his story and Akari did not look remotely convinced, the mer grimaced.

“I know Gaeric has a – ah, reputation, but from what I gather, he has come a long way since he was a young man. He can still have a poor attitude regarding strangers, I know that firsthand. His devotion to Pearl clan can be a little misguided, but it is just that, devotion.”

Ingo realized that, again, he was making it sound as though he was excusing Gaeric’s destructive behavior. He didn’t condone it, although he knew some others did. The Galaxy Team’s presence and the mystery of the frenzied nobles seemed very closely linked in the eyes of many, even Melli had gone so far as to begrudgingly praise Gaeric for his grit. When Melli was saying something nice about the Pearl clan, that was when you knew something was wrong.

“What I am trying to say, Miss Akari, is that Gaeric has had his own identity crises in the past. He is not a stranger to misrepresenting himself or acting untrue to his ideals. He no longer permits himself to be that way. He was young once, he raised Lady Irida for a few years and continues to be her mentor – I don’t think he has it in him to harm a young, inexperienced pup like you in the way you’re thinking. So please, Akari, do not think so poorly of Gaeric.”

This plea gave her pause, absently scratching the rough coral exterior of the flute with her nail, its blue color matching the darkening color of the sea as dusk turned into evening. Ingo was asking for her understanding, but more importantly to put faith in him and his clan. In her heart of hearts, Akari knew that what she was doing was wrong. She was lying to a lot of people just to satisfy her own curiosities and desires. Now she had dragged Ingo into her brew of lies. He was asking for her trust, and she trusted Ingo just as much as she trusted her captains or Professor Laventon.

“I’ll… try. He’s not nearly as nice as you.”

“You caught him at a bad moment. Gaeric is nocturnal.”

Oh, so she woke him abruptly. That explained his grumpiness at the very least, she would also be pretty upset to be woken up abruptly by some stranger. Akari also knew for a fact that she looked terrifying before taming her hair and washing her face in the morning. His actions… She couldn’t condone his actions, but there were things that the commander did in the name of the team and Jubilife that she found questionable. There was a lot more grayness to the world, Akari was coming to realize. She hopped off the rock she had seated herself on and asked Ingo to run her across the cavern, where a narrow path between the boulders led out to the forest about a mile from Jubilife.

Ingo knew her fears were at least temporarily assuaged but knew more moments like this would crop up with more interaction with the clans. He would do his best to keep Akari at a distance, but between his clans’ own concerns for him and his mental/physical wellbeing and both clans insatiable nosiness to know more about the small pup that followed him around occasionally, he knew it was practically hopeless. His goal now was to soften the blow as best he could for all parties. It was a precarious position, but Ingo had been treading fine lines for many years now. Who knows, there was the remote possibility that this could be a unique experience for positive change in the clans and humans.

Only time would tell and that was just as unpredictable as the ever-changing sea.

And we’re back folks, if not a few days late. Sorry about that, I had to write a classics essay, of all things, so that held me up a tad. Despite that, here are my live thoughts and reactions for the new (and final :( ) Heartless video. Enjoy!

Final thoughts- This new style continues to impress me. I don’t know enough about art to say what’s change, but I absolutely adore it. The way it makes things glow especially sparks joy.

The curse names give me such strong DND vibes, specifically subclasses. But that may just be that bloodhunter subclasses are all order and they use curses. No more Heartless videos makes me sad, I hope that we get more content in the future. It may take some time for me to get excited at the idea of a new concept corner, but I know I will and I know I’ll love it. Heartless has been, and probably will continue to be my comfort YouTube series.

Yeah boss I will, I have a nice collection. When I say I got these over the years I mean I just kept alot of things from when I was young.

Tumblr fucks up my shit alot when I put things under the read more thingy so lets hope all is well. I also had to switch to the browser in the middle of this to add more pictures so that also adds to my worries yippee. Tumblr is a perfect website.

Anyways lets start strong, this one is a fave of mine. Love the pose, love the colors, classic dragon shape. It sits on my nightstand.

This one is from when I was younger. One of the spikes on its back is a button. You press it and the wings and jaw move. Its old tho so the springs don’t work well anymore. It also has bendable legs.

A pop out pet. I got this one many years ago so idk if they are still relevant anywhere but the ideea was that its 3 toys in one, and you just switch them inside out. Mine is fantasy themed, it has a dragon, an unicorn and a phoenix. Of course I keep it as the dragon. It became a little lumpy over the years.

Attending Supanova Melbourne 2023

So yeah, went to Supanova this year. Gonna put everything under the cut in case it gets lengthy.

First, how did the big thing go? Well, here’s the autograph I got.

Wasn’t too surprised the wait for Tem was a decent amount of time, but I was standing there for a decent amount of time. Honestly the worst part was having to hear the Jurassic Park theme blared over and over because of this anniversary attraction they had set up.

The meeting was fairly brief and impersonal, but he seemed pretty chill. Was too nervous to really say much or speak properly, but oh well, at least I got to meet him for a minute. XP

The line to get in wasn’t too bad, actually. I saw many people in cosplay at the train station so was expecting a lot to get in, but it turned out fine for the most part.

Lots of food stalls. I’m sceptical of con food so I just got a smoothie, though I was offered some cookie later on which was nice. One of the weirder things we spotted was what seemed to be... recruitment for Australian intelligence agency? No thanks, not joining the army. :v

Got to see many stalls too. Mostly artist ones, saw some stuff I recognised both fandom wise (MANY modern cartoons) and even one or two artists I actually follow. Didn’t really do much in that regard, but it was nice to see. Probably what was most amusing was that I saw a stand with body pillows, another with those boob mousepads, lol. A couple of other nice stands too, like one focusing on Polynesian heroes, and a lot of the expected fan organisations like I think the Mandalorian Mercs?

Anyway... the most fun part was definitely seeing all the cosplay. Here’s everything I can recall that stood out to me.

So to start, I met up with a friend I occasionally see IRL, and he knew some other people, and they were cosplaying from the Guilty Gear games. I don’t know anything about the franchise, but I just have to commend the effort, because this guy got a whole ass coffin made, and he was wheeling it around everywhere with us. From what I can find, the character’s name is Goldlewis Dickinson? Two of the others were dressed as this one blonde girl with a yo-yo, and another was an alien that would pose inside the coffin.

So much Star Wars. Was to be expected, but still. So many Mandalorians (and many Din Djarins specifically). So many Grogus I wish I had a tally to count how many I saw. There were a few Boba Fetts, a few Jedi and Sith (only ones from memory I think I recognised were Obi-Wan and Kylo Ren, yes he’s not a Sith but whatever lol). Noticed some stormtroopers and TIE pilots too. There were some clones, one or two Rexes, and at least one 501st clone. Got to see a clone scout trooper too, which was cool. the only thing on my bingo Saw a remote controlled R2-D2 and another remote controlled astromech I’m not sure I remember, but I think it’s the one Obi-Wan took with him to Utapau in Revenge of the Sith? The colours were close at least. Think I saw some Leias and Padmes too, and even a Narkina 5 prisoner. Besides the clone scout, probably the highlight was someone in a whole Gonk Droid costume. They had the box and everything.

This was pretty small, but a guy was dressed as a chef and had a raccoon on their head. Yes, that was Raccaconie from Everything, Everywhere All at Once.

There was a guy dressed as Ronald McDonald... with Colonel Sanders’ decapitated head. Even had “I’m killin’ it” on the back of the outfit.

Yep, I found some Danganronpas. No Tsumugis (come on guys it’s such a meta idea someone please do it), but I did spot a Komaeda. without a Sans I saw at least one or two Junkos, but I noticed a surprising amount of Mikans? And like, I even saw Nurse Joy from Pokemon around, so I was able to tell when the nurse outfit was hers. Also found an Ibuki and I think a Chihiro and a Toko? Also a couple of Monokuma style outfits, one guy had cool facepaint that mimicked the character.

Saw a couple of Owl House cosplays. One person was I think Willow, I saw a Lilith, and maybe an Amity too? Think I saw someone dressed as Luz too.

Noticed a few Doki Doki cosplays. There was one really cool Monika as I was entering I wish I was able to catch a photo of. There was a couple I struggled to be able to tell, but maaaaybe I spotted a Sayori and Natsuki... or two? I recognised a Yuri though, and she was with one or two other Monikas.

Some Doctor Who stuff I noticed. A purple Dalek, and one of the classic ones at a stand. Think I might’ve seen an Eleventh Doctor and maybe also an Amy Pond? Was hard to tell.

I saw a few of those blow up dino costumes, lol.

I’m CERTAIN I saw someone with their head covered with Red Guy from Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared.

I did spot a group as MLP characters.

There were furries attending!

There might’ve been a Spyro? It looked like a Spyro onesie at least, but they were wearing something over it so IDK.

There were some She-Ras, I’m pretty sure one was even a guy crossdressing. And it was the old fashioned skimpy design too.

Someone had the Lord Farquaad dress up with the giant head, lol.

There was a Miles Edgeworth.

Lots of the expected superhero outfits, but one that stood out to me was Joker and Harley but it was the guy as Harley and the girl as Joker.

Many Pokemon cosplays, some Nurse Joys as I alluded to, but also a blow up Pikachu costume, and I think I saw this group of this one Pokemon I don’t remember the name of, but they looked like they had green hats or something? My friend I was with said they might be based on kappa.

I think there was one of The Last of Us zombies?

I didn’t recognise shit cuz I don’t know the franchise but apparently there was a lot of Genshin Impact?

Oh yeah... LOTS of Homestuck for some reason.

What I hate about them: It’s been a long while since I played SoulSilver but I didn’t find him creepy/stalker-like at all like the fandom likes to assume…? So I don’t really hate him for anything ._.;

Favorite Moment/Quote: Still cry over the fact that he congratulates you if you successfully catch Suicune. Man could’ve said nothing or told you off for crushing his dream but he decided to thank you instead for the chance to meet Suicune what did we do to deserve this man ;-;

What I would like to see more focus on: I do find it kinda weird that only Suicune gets the focus and not any other Legendary Beast…? We don’t get any context for why Eusine is only focused on Suicune specifically instead of the other two so that might’ve been cool to see i guess ._.; (I mean we kinda sorta got a special episode with Raikou I think but idk I don’t think that counts)

What I would like to see less focus on: Why did they make Eusine yell at Ash. I mean…I get why (kid basically claimed to see the gay chicken god but Eusine wasn’t having it) but why c’: (he never yelled at the player in-game so I see the anime Eusine as very ooc)

Favorite pairing with: Morty x Eusine! (Sacredshipping) but sometimes Jasmine x Eusine too (I think it’s called Simpleshipping…? Kinda basic if you ask me :P but still cute ^-^)

Favorite friendship: Guzma & Steven Stone. Guzma cuz of my oc phase (where basically my oc was friends with a bunch of Pokemon characters & became a crime-fighting team i dont care if its cringe shut up). Steven because I can see these two accidentally/coincidentally running into each other a bunch of times for them to eventually meet up & eventually become travelling buddies.

NOTP: …nobody ships him with Suicune right? …Right?

Favorite headcanon: I still like to think he’s a waterbender who learned from his uncle (which is the dude in Celadon City that can only be accessed through Surf). I mean…it gives further context for why he’s searching for Suicune specifically, plus I doubt any of his Pokemon know Surf either & it’d be kinda hard to chase a water deity if you don’t know how to use Surf yourself ._.;

What I love about them: He was the only male Ghost Gym Leader until the shy guy kid from Galar came along & stole his title :c in all seriousness tho I think he has the best character design out of all the Ghost Type Gym Leaders, even the Gen 4 design wasn’t too on the nose (like Agatha or the shy guy kid again, yeah yeah I know his name but i never played Sword/Shield so i’m not using it) or too obtrusive (Fantina…) Also his voice actor’s AMAZING and very underrated I wish people knew about Andrew Rannells more :c

What I hate about them: The Gen 4 design was still kinda pushing it as far as Ghost Gym Leader aesthetic goes & I still like his Gen 2/Anime design better but that’s just me :/ (also he killed my starter on my nuzlocke run when i was 11 ;-;)

Favorite Moment/Quote: I love the part in the anime where Ash asks: “wait you can talk to/understand Ghost Pokemon how?” And Morty just immediately answers “Practice.” (Also again thank you Andrew Rannels for the way the line was delivered I can’t do it justice but it’s like he saying “uuuh how do you do anything Ash huh?” xD)

What I would like to see more focus on: I don’t really see much of a problem with how he’s portrayed in game and/or the anime actually! True, more screen time and/or backstory is greatly appreciated for his interest in Ho-oh (at least in game, the anime is fine) but for what we got, I’m glad we had a Gym Leader who actually paid attention to/studied the mythos of the region for once instead of just being generic miniboss no. 14 (it might’ve been kinda cool to see his clairvoyance used more like in the manga but idk how that would work ._.;)

What I would like to see less focus on: idk he doesn’t get much screen time so there’s not much i can say about him that wasn’t needed…? Unlike Eusine, Morty’s initial attitude towards Ash (dismissing his claims about rainbow birb) made sense for his character (because he didn’t yell at him) but I guess if anyone was going to give Ash a hard time it should’ve been Morty, not Eusine. (Though this would’ve made for some annoying/petty/unnecessary drama so I can’t complain ._.;)

Favorite pairing with: Eusine (Sacredshipping) & Steven Stone (Knightshipping I think…? idk the pokeship list is a mess) Morty & Eusine both hold a special place in my heart for being the first Pokemon characters I liked (and for fueling the oc dream team I mentioned earlier) but I can also see some chemistry with Steven too! They can be chill together c:

Favorite friendship: uuuh does frenemies count cuz I still think Yellowjacket (Guzma x Morty) is the best Guzma ship I’ve come up with yet, platonic or otherwise (though I see them more as frenemies than lovers) I can also see AZ & Morty being close friends too…? idk i just want my top two favs to be buddies & share stories about their history and legendaries together 🥺

NOTP: I used to see Falkner x Morty EVERYWHERE on deviantart and it was very yabai 😬 (though hopefully that’s changed now…? It was less about the characters themselves & more about how they were portrayed…shota…)

Favorite headcanon: because I have been sucked into a new fandom hell I like to think Morty is Keito Hasumi’s uncle and I’ve been meaning to recreate my old dead rp blog just to write about their dynamic but he basically taught Keito everything he knows about music (and possibly magic) and was basically Keito’s second dad (since his real dad is probably too busy working as a monk) and no this totally isn’t just another way for me to put two of my fav characters together whaddya talking about (also the fact that both of these characters have the voices of an angel seriously go look up Andrew Rannells and Yuichiro Umehara right now they are too good for this world ;-;)
