How do you deal with art block?

depends on the type. When I get art block, it’s usually because I’m just tired or even burning out. Then, there’s not much to do but take it easy and rest (through suffering and blood and screams of agony, but sometimes, that’s what self-care looks like).

If it’s really just my brain not being able to come up with what draw and/or don’t have the motivation for it despite having the energy, some things that help getting the art gears turning for me:

- Change the canvas and brush colors, maybe even the brush type you usually use. It’s incredible what some small change of pace can do to your brain, it’s so fuckin’ stupid, but it works for me for some fuckin’ reason.

- If you usually draw on traditional tho, changing your materials might also help. Maybe try drawing with a pen, instead of a pencil? Markers? Draw exclusively with color pencils? Changing the surface you draw can also work; before I went to digital, I’d draw on cardboard when, for some reason, the paper didn’t spark any ideas and it somehow worked.

- What something you always enjoy drawing? To me, that’s facial expressions, so I’d just draw a bunch of floating heads with funny expressions. Maybe even just floating faces. If your thing is drawing clothes, for example, why not try just doing a bunch of faceless mannequins in cool outfits? Can’t think of anything you particularly enjoy? That’s alright! Just grab a paper/open a blank canvas and do a bunch of geometrical shapes! Just the act of drawing something can help.

And even if this doesn’t work, that’s OK. Your value as an artist isn’t tied to how much or how consistently you create. You can’t serve from an empty vessel, so take the time to rest and take care of yourself if that’s what you need <3

Narrator - Crow : He just is I’m assuming. Idk that’s what he looks like.

Hero - Raven: He could be the same as Narrator but different.

Broken - Swan: Idea of swan song maybe, also the white gives a sort of pure vibe to match the Tower’s whole religion vibe.

Smitten - Wilson’s Bird of Paradise: The mating/show off bird. Plus curly heart tail is cute

Cold - Owl: This one was a bit more random, kind of just picked a bird with an edgier vibe. (The drawing is a Great-Horned)

Stubborn - Eagle: Big strong

Opportunist - Luzon Bleeding-Heart Dove: Dove for peace/trust that’s broken and regained with Witch/Thorn. Bleeding heart for the “stabbed in the back” thing.

Cheated - Magpie: Sneaky, spiteful, shiny things. Wanted to make him crow or raven but those were used already so another corvid will have to do. Sigh.

Contrarian - Seagull: Explanation unnecessary he’s a silly guy

Hunter - Pheasant: A commonly hunted bird, more dignified than a duck or turkey though.

Paranoid - Sparrow: Skittish little guy

Skeptic - Hawk: “Hawk-eyed”, aggressive when needed

Thinking about the idea of a healed Wounded Wild

I'm imagining most of her body has been replaced by tree bark. Her fingers are sharp, slim, and jagged. Her feet are more akin to something like deer hooves. Or maybe she can keep Witch's paws?? Idk but they're wood now

For her chest area I imagine her heart is still exposed. But she's not as hollow as she was by the end of her route, and her heart is better protected than it was before

She has twig-like branches growing from her and small, red flowers growing from her hair and the twigs. I also imagine the wood coming out of her head that are supposed to look like a crown end up actually taking more of a crown shape

Idk I love the idea of healed Wounded Wild so much. I love Wounded Wild in general tbh. Maybe when I actually get the motivation to I'll draw it

Wild has VERY different vibes from Beast and Witch imo

When stemming from Beast, Wild comes off as someone desperately trying to go against their own desire to hurt someone they care about. She has been hurt and hurt you more in response. Her last ditch effort to fix the pain she's caused and heal the pain she's experienced becomes codependent and shaky. A relationship built off faint memories of what you and she once were

I think saving Wounded Wild is the only satisfying result with Beast for me bc of this. The consumption from Beast feels much more forced than dying with Witch, so Beast version of The Wild as a result also feels more forced. It doesn't feel like something that results from trying to fix a mutual toxicity, but rather someone trying to fix their own mistakes but stripping themselves and someone else of their individuality in the process.

When splitting apart but freeing her, you show her she can still make things right, and you can both still be your own individuals. You can both still heal as two separate people

But Wild from Witch feels like trying to fix a toxic relationship that's rapidly falling apart due to pent-up resentment and distrust. You've hurt her. And she's hurt you. And you can either put that hatred aside try to relive the times where things were better, even if just to grasp at one small victory. Or you can cut things off and end the toxicity without the risk of making things worse, and losing yourselves

Witch version of Wild feels like something the both of you are responsible for. Something you both caused to happen. A feeble attempt at solidarity from both that will fall apart the second one of you remember the pain you've caused each other.

I also think that it being more from mutual hatred and pain, I can fuck with Networked Wild when stemming from Witch. Still prefer saving Wounded overall though

I saw some ppl doing name HCs for the STP princesses and wanted to hop on that!

Most of these are based on some Tupperbox RPs, where my friends played some of them and they gave each other names, but I liked them a lot so that's just their name now

(If I don't mention someone in chapter 3, they share a name with their chapter 2, also Shifty is just Shifty to me I'm sorry girlie)

So here we go!

The Princess: Millicent (sounds like a princess-y name idk, fancy fancy, friends can call her Millie)

The Stranger: Doremi (as in 'do re mi fa so la ti,' I normally name my Dodrios this when I play Pokémon (one note for each head) but the one I caught yesterday I named The Stranger, so I thought it would be cute if they swapped names)

The Damsel: Primrose (often shortened to Prim, got it from a fanfic that changed my brain chemistry)

The Prisoner: Jade (because she's jaded)

The Beast: Dinah (like Alice's cat from Alice in Wonderland, Prim named her once they got close otherwise she wouldn't have one)

The Adversary: Crimson (she named herself and it kinda shows lol /aff Nightmare was like 'yas girlie you're covered in the stuff')

The Razor: Talyn (like talon, sharp like she is)

The Tower: Destiny (no comment she's definitely a Destiny)

The Nightmare: Mary (a friend named her, could just be short for Nightmare but imagine if it was like Bloody Mary lol)

The Witch: Tabitha (Prim calls her Tabby, I named her after my second Toralei monster high doll but also it's a kinda witchy name to me)

The Spectre: Wisteria (or Wisty, got it from a book and thought it fit her)

The Burned Grey: Hestia (after the Greek goddess of the hearth)

The Drowned Grey: Ophelia (saw someone else use it and. Yeah that fits her)

The Den: Regina (another Prim name lmao, queen of the junjle /ref)

The Eye of the Needle: Topaz (I feel like a gem that changes color with heat would suit her)

The Fury: Malice (like Alice but Scary)

The Moment of Clarity: Claire (Mary and Claire sounded cute together lol, sister vibes)

The Thorn: Willow (saw an edit of her with red hair and thought of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but also weeping willow because she's soooo soggy I adore her)

The Wild: Mercy (I feel like she'd have a virtue kinda name, she's either Mercy or Peace to me)

The Wraith: Belladonna (a poisonous plant, but more importantly it sounds like Beldam and my friends agree Wraith gives serious Other Mother energy)
