yeno what i'm excited for this new year on this hellsite? to see you guys' takes. like, i reblogged the post about fancy fandom posts being all poetic and shit but my god, that fuels me. i adore it. not to get like emotional in the year of our lord 2024 but you guys are so passionate, and cool, and have so many interesting thoughts and i get to see them on my dash and on the tag?? for free?? i get to see you express joy and excitement?? over cube people?? and it's so fucking cool??
even when i hate a cubito's guts, i still like the analysis, the posts, the angst and the poetry bc yeno what, do you. be happy. be passionate and write and theorise. the world sucks and we deserve to be excited, and to inspire other people to be excited too.
anyway long story short, i'm pumped to spend another year with you guys here on qsmpblr.

Discarding is not the point; what matters is keeping those things that bring you joy. If you discard everything until you have nothing left but an empty house, I don’t think you’ll be happy living there. Our goal in tidying should be to create a living environment filled with the things we love.

An apology to the past
Dear everyone who knew me in my 20s-30s, and, heck, early 40s. I'm sorry for my unwarranted certainty, specifically as it related to judging harmless things.
Catan is a lovely game, not to my taste, but a lovely game nonetheless.
Kpop is wonderful, country music is wonderful, rap is wonderful, I had no reason to look down on any of it and I was being a judgy shit.
Romance novels are fantastic, even the tropes that I dislike.
You like to cook for big dinner parties? Great! You like to eat microwaved cheese off of a plate and chase it with cold coffee? Great!
I used to struggle greatly, and still am working on, a need to categorize and rank other people's traits and characteristics so that I understand which scripts to run when talking to them. I still use scripts 99.5% of the time, but I am trying to get rid of ranking the groups I slot people into (so that I may interact with them using the appropriate Social Interaction Script Package.)
If something brings you joy? Have fucking fun with it.
If something gives you a moment's peace or respite? Take all the time you need, buddy.
If something comforts you in despair? For chrissakes, do it!
The world can seem very grim at times. We make our own joy, we make our own hope, we make our own strength to go on. If you love putting on a full face of makeup in the morning -- hell, even if you don't 100% love it, but it still brings you a sense of comfort and strength -- you do it. If you love wearing your bunny-ear hat around town, that is a great hat and I love to see it. If all that makes you relax is listening to aespa's "Drama" on repeat all your waking hours, good for you.
There is no cringe.
There is no loser.
There is no dweeb.
There is no basic bitch.
There is no basic bitch, except that there is, and it is a great place to be. Why WOULDN'T you love these things that thousands, millions, of other people love because it is fun and easy and brings joy???
Love what you love. Do what you do. Make what you make.
I'm sorry, dear existence, that I was shitty about this for decades. I'm sorry that I am still sometimes shitty about it.
There is a desperate need for joy in the world. Don't quash yours, and don't shit on anybody else's.
(* CAVEAT: As long as you are not harming others.)

Old broken things I hoarded for years from childhood because I didn't think I would ever be able to get/have/deserve a new one and so this was a treasure:
Little paper umbrellas for drinks Little plastic animals, also for drinks (identification) Butterfly pasties (which eventually went from a pair to an individual but that made me cling to her so much harder) Heavy foldable room partition thing missing important hinges so it couldn't actually stand up on its own Heavy full length mirror also missing the component that keeps it held up, mirror fully detached, safety hazard at this point (still have this one and please don't ask me why, the answer will be made up) Statue of a horse, smaller but heavy, also broken (still have this one, and the real reason is because it has excellent heft and I think about home invasions a lot) Gold/old/strange binder clips

When you reblog a post made by an anti who is friends with Monika.... oops.
Hello Anon,
I don’t track antis and their mutuals, so, yes, I may occasionally do exactly that.
I’m not a pornbot, I’m just a human, so mistakes will be made, by me, and with relative frequency, though I do my level best to avoid them.
And since you didn’t name either yourself or the offending accounts from which I reblogged, I have no way of knowing who to ask to correct it or who to avoid in the future. I deleted what I thought might be the offending reblogs but have now thought the better of it. Because I frankly don’t believe in giving anyone the power to steal my joy.
I like what I like. So I reblogged it, whatever it was. I believe in sparking joy wherever I can find it, and yes, sometimes, I don’t verify unfamiliar sources to ensure that they’re not actually antis.
All that my egregious error shows me is that we often have more in common than we realize with our supposed “enemies”.
There’s always common ground to stand on, if we’re willing to look for it.

i finally finished rereading marie kondo's spark joy!! it's one of my favorite non-fiction books of all time, so this is your heads-up that i Will be Obnoxious about it. if i see anyone being stupid about konmari you can catch these fucking hands
anyways i'm hyped because i've had this on my to-do list for months and i've been slowly chipping away at the book through my depression. double-checking my bujo, i've been at it on/off since...dec 13 i think? my goodreads activity says i started on dec 04 tho. either way that's like 2-3 weeks to finish this one book, which is unusual for me considering i can usually get an average novel done in a day or so.
i'm rlly glad i got to finish it again!! i took notes as i read this time to motivate me to keep rereading and for later reference while i tidy, so i might share what i've written some time

In adults? The older you get, the more complex emotions become. We associate joy with the future often. I’ll be happy when I earn this much, have this many friends, own this house.
