what is it about showers and solving every problem you had during your teenage years

whether or not that loustat hug is the contested NOLA reunion, do you think it could happen in the present day instead? obviously in the iwtv book it’s a fleeting visit from louis. but in the show i just can’t imagine them going separate ways again after a reunion as it’s all heightened so much more. plus, i believe it’s been said that we have a modern day NOLA shot in the trailer. after watching s1 i just assumed that lestat would eventually pop up in the present day, but that was before reading the books!! how do you think us seeing him in the present day will go down? do you have any thoughts on where he even is? i’m feeling so clueless but curious about how they’ll introduce him and pave the way for his story to be told. sorry that this is so long🫶🏼

The hug can theoretically happen in Dubai time, but then... you know, back then, when Claudia's diaries showed up for the first time, I said that I sure hope their potential will not be wasted.

Because... Claudia's diary was a twist. A BIG twist, even for book readers. It shifted perceptions of characters yet again. "Merrick" was a blow to the stomach, especially knowing Anne had originally planned to let Louis die. (Btw, the first "Merrick" post I tagged as such was a reblog of @cbrownjc, in October 22, go figure :P)

The show has taken elements from Merrick, elements which would indeed be wasted if they do not go a certain route towards the end of season 2. Because they have been building up to it, and if they should not go there then they won't be able to return later on and then this twist will be wasted.

I just... cannot see them waste that twist, tbh, given its importance for all the arcs.

Which brings us back to NOLA (or not) and Lestat, and where he is, because if we are in Merrick territory... then Lestat is either asleep/in coma, or roaming. Because I agree! I don't see them separating again (not fully) after finding each other again. It wouldn't serve the show imho, the back and forth, and why would Lestat tell his story?

So I do not see the hug happen in NOLA. And if it is, then I bet that will be the contested meeting.

Now, I personally think Lestat is close by. I think he might be connected to "The Groan". I think it will literally all come crashing down when Dubai comes to a head.

I think Lestat might be in the "chapel" with "Those Who Must Be Kept", maybe. A chapel which serves both, and which explains the "I serve a god", too.

I think the moment when the books come down Lestat will wake up.

If they are mean, they'll go out with a cliffhanger of epic proportions^^ (aka Louis seemingly dead), but I can also see them go through with the resolution first... and then sit back, literally, proverbially, and Daniel going something like: "So you are the vampire Lestat." in that tone of his, while side-eyeing all vampires there :) I can hear it.^^

That said, there was once a comment about Lestat maybe telling his story through a different device, so maybe... maybe Daniel finds some old tapes :) Or maybe he even interviewed Lestat before! We don't know yet. He did seem to react to "Come to me".

Personally I want Louis there to listen to the story though. Because ultimately Lestat tells his story for Louis.

So. To come back to the hug and Dubai... Maybe what we saw was the end of the season.

Because... if they are not that mean (to us)... then maybe Louis does attempt suicide, Lestat wakes, he, Armand and Marius save Louis... and Louis wakes to see Lestat - dusty, hair tangled, and clad in a velvet jacket.

"Lestat had by this time brushed off the cumbersome covering of dust he wore, and taken from his own closet a new coat of dark- brown velvet, and fresh linen, so that he wore his usual thick and faintly discolored old lace. He had shaken out his hair and combed it, and put on new boots."

“Is it Shinso? Are you training Shinso?”

He doesn’t like the fact that you just cut him off, and he quirks his eyebrow at you sternly.

Your cheeks blush, and you take a step back, chewing on the inside of your cheek.

“Sorry, sir. I was just wondering…”

“What’s your sudden interest in the boy? You’ve been asking about him ever since I trained him here a few weeks ago.”

“Nothing, Daddy! I swear. I just…well…” You don’t know what to say. You’ve never been able to open up to your fathers about boys. They’re the reason why you’re not allowed to date after all. You’re “too young” to be around boys in that way, so you have to keep all of your thoughts pent up secretively.

Hell, you can’t even write about it in your diary because they’ll probably just end up reading it.

“You just what?” He inquires impatiently.

You rub your arm, blushing even harder under his scrutiny.

Just then, your savior, Papa, appears in the doorway.

“Sho, you heading out? Don’t get too crazy with that kid now. You’re too mean with those students.”

“Have to be. It would be an injustice if I wasn’t.”

He turns back to look at you, waiting to hear your answer, but you’re nowhere to be found now. He sighs, kisses his husband on the cheek, and walks out the door.

Even indoors at night, he still refuses to take them off.

You shrug your shoulders and look at your Dad.

“Daddy, how was training Shinso today?”

“It was good. He’s progressing very well. You and I need to have a talk however after dinner.”

“Oh? Is someone in trouble?” Mic turns to look back at you.

“It depends on her answer.”

“Shouta, what’s happening?” His husband asks uncertainly. He doesn’t like being left out of the loop.

Aizawa sighs and looks directly at you with a serious gaze. “Have you been alone with Hitoshi? Answer me honestly. Is that why you keep asking about him? Did he do anything to you?”

“What?” Is all you can think of as a breathless response.

“Did he…touch you…down there?”

You stand up from the table with a disgusted look on your face. You can’t believe he just asked you such an uncomfortable question.

“What? No, he never touched me! I was never alone with him because you two never let me do anything. I just like him. I think he’s cute or whatever.”

Your Dad grabs your wrist and pulls you towards him. “If I find out you’re secret keeping from us again, you know what will happen.”

His belt crashing down on your sore bottom rings through your mind upon his unspoken threat. You gulp as you avert your eyes in submission.

“Yes, Daddy. I’m not secret keeping. I’ve never been alone with Shinso.”

Your jaw is grabbed, and eye contact with your father is forced.

“You promise me, young lady.”

Your face feels smushed in his calloused hand.

Oh, but how you so desperately wish he would lay both hands on you.

Your father deems your promise good enough. He can always tell when your lying, and right now, you’re not showing any signs of it. He releases you from his grasp and pushes you back towards your chair.

“Sit and finish your food.”

You look at Papa, and you really just want someone to hold you right now.

Preferably Hitoshi.

You’ll take your Papa instead though.

You go to walk over to him, and as you do, you open your mouth to say something.

However, he beats you to it. “Listen, honey, crushes pass. These things fade. You’ll get over him quickly, I promise. Boys this age are prone to breaking hearts and cheating. You don’t want that. Listen to your Papa and Daddy. We won’t let anyone hurt you ever. Okay?”

You hear Papa and Daddy arguing in the kitchen during the night. You’re supposed to be tucked into bed, fast asleep. As their voices carry on, you can’t help but patter to the top of the steps to hear what they’re saying.

“Sho, I don’t know how I feel about her having a crush on him is all. Should we not let him train here anymore?”

You sneak closer to the kitchen.

“What is it, Sho?”

“He can be around her if one or both of us are supervising. I don’t want her sneaking out again, and I really don’t want to cart the kid off to someone else for training. Not a lot of people stick by Shinso because of his quirk. Hell, his own parents treat him like a villain. He’s a good kid, and as much as I hate the idea of her dating, at least we know what kind of person Shinso is.”

“What if he breaks her heart?”

“Then I’ll break every bone in his body,” comes the quick response of your dark haired father.

He didn’t even hesitate in answering that way. It’s as if he’s done something like that before and he’s not afraid to do it again.

You put a hand over your mouth to stifle a gasp. Your father would never…would he? Having heard enough, you turn around and sneak back to your bedroom, closing the door.

You can’t stop thinking about how easy it was for him to threaten something like that. Every bone in his body if he were to hurt you? That’s so extreme, and you feel as though anyone wouldn’t deserve such treatment. You have to figure out a way to get them to let you see him, to prove to your fathers that Hitoshi wouldn’t mistreat you.

If they give him a chance, then they’ll see how much Hitoshi can make you happy.

Two days pass before you gain the courage to talk to your fathers about Hitoshi again.

“Daddy? Papa? Can I ask you something?”

Aizawa looks at you with loving eyes yet a tired smile. “Yeah, Pumpkin?”

“Could I…maybe if it’s okay with you…meet Hitoshi again?”

Mic sits up on the couch, regarding you and Shouta.

“Alright, you can meet with him, but there will be supervision. Is that understood?”

“Yes, Daddy! Thank you!” You lunge at your sleep deprived father, wrapping your arms around his shoulders in a tight hug.

He huffs and pats you on the back before enveloping you in a hug of his own. You’re so small, just his little girl.

He’s counting on Hitoshi to be a good kid and not break your heart. If he doesn’t, the kid gets to keep his bones intact.

If not, then your fathers will be there for you to lean on while you learn about the cruelty of boys while Hitoshi suffers in the hospital, and hopefully, they’ll never have to revisit this conversation again.

Ok I am in rant mode again, sorry, this blog just happens to be a place where I dump all my thoughts negative and positive both, unfortunately for all who follow me. But I have seen some bad and incorrect takes from anti darkling/darklinas. So here’s just a few things I want to say.

Firstly LB has never stated that she based the darkling on her ab*sive ex. This is misinformation that was spread by antis. The only thing she has ever said about an ab*sive relationship was that she wrote the first book, Shadow and Bone, at a dark time in her life right after she had got out of a bad relationship. She has said in the past that the darkling was inspired by every bad boy she’s had a crush on in fiction including david bowie’s the goblin king. 

So it seems from these comments like the character was supposed to emulate those types of characters that woman find attractive, the ones you would fall for. 

I’ve also seen the argument that LB clearly wrote the darkling as a villain, well LB might disagree with you there as she herself has said on multiple occasions that she doesn’t write villains: 

LB says that the darkling believes he is doing the right thing and that ‘you can make a case for most of the choices he makes, even the despicable ones.’ So if LB says that she doesn’t write villains and that you can make a case for his actions you can’t really blame darkling fans for doing the same. 

The truth is LB promoted the heck out of both the darkling and darklina (or as it was known back then Darlina and Alarkling) when she was writing the og trilogy, even admitting to ‘fanning the flames’ when talking about people shipping m*lina and darklina and was clearly encouraging the shipping of both ships:

It was only post the release of book three that she changed her tune, likely because of all the backlash she got about the ending of the books. So no LB wasn’t always against fans shipping darklina or liking the darkling. All of this information is easily found with a simple google search, I wasn’t even in the fandom back then being a show watcher first and yet I was still able to learn all of this with minimal difficulty. 

Which brings me to the whole darklina being an allegory for a older man manipulating a younger girl and how the darklina fans ‘missed this’. Well if they did miss it then it was for a very good reason, but the truth is darklina’s didn’t miss it, we just didn’t think it made sense within the narrative, the darklina fandom have talked about it, myself included, in fact I’ve already posted a whole pretty much essay on the topic. But let me explain why some people may have ‘missed it’ and why it doesn’t work in the story or with darklina as the allegory. The first is because LB chose to use an immortal/immortal couple for this allegory. The thing with immortality in fiction, especially as love interests, is it makes age pretty much meaningless. The whole point of immortals is that they are ageless. Immortal ships have always been accepted within fiction and this whole age gap issue has never come up before. Nobody was going omg but the age gap yuck with Bella and Edward when twilight came out, or when Magnus and Alec got together in Shadowhunters or with any of the ships in Vampire Diaries. Yet now anti’s are trying to use the argument that the darkling is 100s of years older than Alina and that’s creepy all of a sudden. Sorry but not in my book, an immortal is always going to be significantly older than anyone else what’s the alternative they spend eternity alone, never knowing love? At least with darklina they are both immortal. Another reason why it doesn’t work is because of how the darkling is described in the book, he is said to not look much older than Alina, so in the books he looks like a teenager. So of course people weren’t going to pick up on the older guy/younger girl allegory because the darkling isn’t presented in the books as an older guy. He’s described the same way every other immortal being in every YA book at that time was. It’s also worth noting that I am not sure if LB ever actually said that darklina were supposed to represent a older guy with a younger girl or whether that was something the fandom came up with. I’m not saying she didn’t just that I myself have never seen a direct quote from her that I recall and I wasn’t able to find one. I think the first time I heard of it was when someone sent me an ask about the topic. I know that she has said it was meant to serve as a warning of attractive and charismatic men being able to manipulate young girls but I don’t know that she herself has ever talked about an age gap or specifically mentioned older men? 

Another thing that I have been seeing alot of are comments like darkling/darklina fans only like him because he is hot. What bothers me about this is firstly even if that were true and the only reason people liked him was because he is hot, so what? There’s nothing wrong with that, its fiction and fiction is used to escape for a bit, its for enjoyment and entertainment, so if that enjoyment and entertainment comes in the form of staring at the hot guy irregardless of whether they are the hero or villain, let them be. Why are you criticising the way someone enjoys fiction? Sometimes a gal just wants to look at the hot guy. Secondly its just a really irrelevant argument because the darkling is not the only hot, charismatic character in the books or show. M*l is also described as being attractive and charismatic with no shortage of friends and girls, Nikolai is another character that fits that description, so by this argument the only reason M*l fans like him is because he is hot, and the only reason Nikolai fans like him is because he is hot. Thirdly its just plainly not true, whilst I am sure there may be some fans who only like him because he is hot, again nothing wrong with that, most fans like him for a variety of different reasons because he is an interesting and complicated character. As someone who spends a fair bit of time in the darkling/darklina tags the most common reason I have seen for fans liking him is because of his dedication to the grisha, his willingness to fight for the grisha something that he has dedicated 100′s of years of his life too. Personally I like Aleksander/the darkling because he has a sympathetic backstory, because he is fighting for the grisha and when seeing that they had no place to go where they could be free from fear he vowed to make them a safe place, a sanctuary, of course I am going to root for that goal too. I like him because he is complicated and complex and despite being an immortal being who has become deeply effected by past traumas there is still something beautifully human about him, particularly in the show. I also like the connection he has with Alina, the whole yin/yang of it and them being each others balance. I love the complexity and angst of them having this deep connection and pull to each other but also having this anger and sense of betrayal, how they have to try and navigate around having different points of view and seeing the world in a different ways, it makes for a very compelling story and their chemistry in the show is electric. The fact that he is hot is merely a bonus, but even if he wasn’t a conventionally attractive person I would still like his character because of those complexities, because of that connection he has with Alina. But one thing this rant has done is make me curious as to what my other fellow darkling/darklina fans like about the darkling? What drew you to the character? Anyway that’s enough ranting for one day, again my apologies, I am going to go and rewatch season 1 of shadow and bone in preparation for season 2′s release tomorrow...sheepishly shuffles off my soapbox, waving awkwardly.

(Mild angst warning near the end)

Dear Journal,

So much has happened since the last update. This was first year I celebrated the midgardian holiday of Christmas and found myself enjoying it. All the lights, music and festive smells provided me with a sense of warmth versus the usual emptiness I am faced with.

She gifted me a gorgeous Rolex watch, amongst other sentimental pieces. Said sentimental pieces are being stored in Asgard for safekeeping. It's not that I do not trust Stark's defences. However, I do not trust Stark's defences. Should something happen to Promise, I need these items to survive, so I still have some tangible part of her in my life.

As for Promise, on January 15th, she, Wanda, Natasha as well as the other women agents were specifically sent out on a top-secret espionage mission. None of the men were in attendance, just the women. To say I am concerned would be the understatement of the century. What could Fury possibly need them to do that the rest of us cannot do?

For the week previous, I had been able to track her via the enchanted laural necklace I gifted her many moons ago. However, that connection has been severed. I am travelling to Asgard to ensure her Candle still burns.

Yeah you’re right a MCD rewrite is people rewriting MCD and adding their own ships or improvements or different plot points. It started because the original MCD is kinda written poorly. Some plot points go nowhere, some parts are problematic, some parts drag on, characters appear and disappear, characters stopped developing and most importantly MCD has no ending and was abruptly discontinued by Jess so she could focus on Mystreet and other projects. People just wanna improve and finish the thing that means so mich to them basically. You can find them on AO3 and a few on Wattpad (I recommend AO3 tho its easier to find rewrites ur interested in cuz the tag system)

(There arent enough words in this world to explain my hatred for aarmau and aaron BUT)

Many reasons heres the main few: when Aaron was introduced he was supposed to be a side character but then he became a love interest kinda outta nowhere (my theory as to why is because Jess’s husband Jason voices him) and when he did become a love interest other characters like Laurence and Garroth kinda stopped developing and became worse to justify why Aaron was a good choice for Aphmau. For me they never had any chemistry in MCD, when its revealed Aphmau is pregnant with Aaron’s kid my brain logged out because wtffff how did they find the time and also why Aaron ://. He wasn’t kinda boring, his angsty past could’ve been used more but wasn’t he was just a brooding masked figure who followed Aphmau around. Then Pheonix Drop High happened and made things really weird. So when Aaron was 18 going on 19 he started dating Aphmau who was 14. Very creepy much yuck, they didn’t communicate well and then his whole character became that he’s in love with Aphmau but “he’s just not good enough for her :((“ and “i shouldn’t be with her shes perfect” and personally i find romance dramas infuriating, especially that kind of drama. AND YES AS A 18YR OLD U SHOULDNT BE DATING A 14YR OLD WELL DONE AARON. Mystreet they were the annoying lovey dovey couple with relationship drama they just rubbed me the wrong way in that series, I stopped watching after Emerald Secret and only recently forced myself to finish Mystreet and yeah no idc about them or their relationship. In MCD season 3 when Shad was introduced as a full character his whole thing is he’s Aaron again but evil and Aphmau’s sad about it and uuuuugg i dont caaareee. And I personally thought Aphmau wasn’t gunna end with anyone in MCD because she went on multiple rants about how that isn’t what she’s looking for and she has to think about her people first and she prefers her own company and then BOOM gets pregnant of masky mcsad face. Ugh. Basically Aaron ruined everything.

Garrence has been a ship since the characters were introduced and quite simply its because they have more chemistry together than with Aphmau. I’ve always been a lil uncomfortable with how Jess wrote Laurence and Aphmau’s interactions and Garroth and Aphmau’s interactions but Garroth and Laurence interactions were just more natural they had more banter they were sweet together. Then Jess did a bunch of queerbaiting with it and the ship got bigger, so many fanarts so many fanfics. Then it just never happened because Jess is a coward. Like it would’ve been so nice to see the hints and chemistry go somewhere but it didn’t. Everyone still holds hope tho. With rewrites Garrence is Canon :))

life update!!!!

hi hello friends good morning good afternoon good evening its that time of the month again! this isnt really a big life update like the last time bcs i just thought id list down a bunch of things ive had on my mind.

first of all, im very happy to announce that i was able to watch 16 movies last march !! exciting!! i know ive said the last time that i quit the bingewatching thing but HONESTLY im in a work from home setup and the only way to keep me inspired is by watching a movie ... i am yet to find other ways to stay inspired so watching movies will just do for now... ALSO im gonna try to update my newsletter for the first time this year and itll probably be about the movies that i saw this march that i liked ! im now comfortable with turning the newsletter to be more about movies bcs nothing major has been happening in my life lol . so pls stay tuned for that newsletter post if ur interested!

another thing is ive decided to make this blog more personal! for the past year ive made this blog to be more about movies and gifs and stuff, and as much as i love getting the notes and reading ppl's tags, im going to try and make this blog work for me this time :) hope it doesnt get annoying or something... im also in the process of fixing my about pages and tags and all. ive used tumblr since 2012 so im still struggling with the setup. LIKE yes i want to maximize the fact that you can edit html pages and its cute and lets me be creative but at the same time, im on my phone majority of the time . and i dont like being on my laptop after work because ive literally just been using a laptop the whole day. for work. im rly shy to post some stuff about me (bcs i havent done it before fr insert the tom hanks dialogue from joe vs the volcano abt doing some soul searching and coming to the conclusion that hes just boring so he stops doing it) so if u see me doing it as an attempt to fix the personal pages on my blog, im sorry! AAAND as for the gifs thing, im thinking of changing my film diary tag, one thing i really enjoy is taking note of dialogues i love from a movie so i might just do screenshots. i really miss making gifs even though most of the gifs i end up with are LQ , but it just really isnt feasible now . (also some movies are just so tempting to gif LIKEEE valley girl and everytime we say goodbye 😭😭 it physically hurts me that i cant gif josh whitehouse and tom hanks in those movies....)

ALSO im really very very happy that ive gained new followers recently. i enjoy chatting with you guys and get so happy whenever i get the notif that someone sent me an ask/message!! ive been idle on stan twt/fandoms in general so its been a really long time since ive actually... talked to people... it makes me really happy talking to u and im sorry if my happiness doesnt show in my replies/posts. as i said, its been a while since ive done this and i usually go on here as soon as im off work (when my brain is semi-fried and the words are not wording anymore) . i hope i dont come across as bored/uninterested :(

Author’s note: First of all, I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has read and supported this story. Like I said when I published the first chapter, this was something I wasn’t going to post because I wasn’t happy with it, so the fact that so many of you have liked it, is a very welcomed surpise 💜

Also, sorry about it being so short compared to the others I post. I tried to think of ideas to make it a bit longer, but they all seemed repetitive and I didn’t want to force it and ruin it, so it is best to leave with an ending that I am happy with.

"So you are dating, right?" Alice says while we drive to pick her wedding dress.

"I don't know" I shrug.

"How can you not know? You've been going on dates for a month now, are constantly texting or calling each other, checking how you are feeling and talking for hours, when you are free you go to his house and have sex on his piano..."

"That has never happened and you know it."

"Fine, not on his piano but I'm sure you've done it all over his place already. You are dating."

"We aren't. He hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend, and I haven't asked him to be my boyfriend either."

"Then do it. What are you waiting for? You like him, don't you?"

"I do, yes. A lot."

"Then ask him to be your boyfriend. You can do it at my wedding.”

"What?"

"Take him as your plus one. I want to see him wearing a suit in real life, confirm that it actually is as powerful as you always say" Alice says with a big grin.

"You may want to ran away with him and leave Rose standing at the altar."

"Never. Rose is my one. And by the looks of it, Ben is yours. If you make it official, of course."

"Alice..."

"Ask him to come to the wedding and to be your boyfriend. It's all I ask as my wedding gift."

"I thought we were a couple " Ben says, arching an eyebrow.

"Maybe. But not officially."

"What does that mean?" he says, hugging me from behind and resting his head on my shoulder.

"It means that we haven't asked the other to be girlfriend and boyfriend."

"Oh, that.”

"Yes, that" I say while I turn to look at him, putting my arms around his neck.

"Ladies first."

"What?" I chuckle.

"You ask first, I'll start it for you. Ben, would you do me the immense honor of being..."

"I'm not saying that."

"We are at a wedding, it seems fitting" he shrugs. "C'mon."

"Fine" I say, rolling my eyes. "Benjamin, would you do me the immense honor of being my boyfriend?"

"Yes" he says. "Yes and one million times yes."

"Cheesy” I laugh.

"Only the truth" he says before kissing me. But the kiss doesn't last long, someone knocking on the door and interrupting us.

"I guess that's my cue. My duties as bridesmaid await."

"Urgh.”

“You’ll survive” I say, letting go of him.

"Wait, you lost a bracelet" he says, picking something from the floor.

"Oh, that's the bracelet Alice gave us at her hen do. Apparently, the day it falls it means that your wish has come true."

"Has that happened with yours?"

"It actually has. I have him right in front of me" I say with a big smile.

"I was your wish?"

"Yep.”

“And what did you ask for exactly?” he asks with a smirk.

“Nothing, really. I was just thinking about you and the way you make me feel.”

“Which is?”

“The fact that I just asked you to be my boyfriend should tell you already.”

“But I want to hear you say it” he says, hugging me by the waist and pulling me closer to him.

“Ben, I need to go. Alice will kill me if I don’t show up.”

“C´mon” he pouts, making me want to kiss those gorgeous lips of his.

“Ok, fine” I say, rolling my eyes. “I’m falling in love with you.”

“I am also falling in love with you.”

“Really?”

“The fact that I just said yes to being your boyfriend, should tell you already" he says, teasing me.

“Idiot” I chuckle. “And I seriously need to go, or this will be the shortest relationship the world has ever seen.”

“Ok, ok” he says, letting go of me. “But before you go...”

“Ben...”

“You are missing something. This” he says, kissing my cheek, my skin tingling where his lips have been. “See you around, girlfriend.”

“See you around, boyfriend."

But before I leave, I look at him one last time. He also is smiling, though this smile isn't one of his cocky ones. Or a teasing one. This one is different.

This is a sincere and honest smile, a happy one. And the type of smile you give to the person you are in love with. Maybe your one like Alice said? Only time will tell.

Grim could not tell time, it was impossible for her to figure out anything when the standard galatic calander differed so much from the one used back on Earth. She had no idea how long she had been in Star Wars. What she did know was that she had been in Star Wars for a while. At least, long enough for Obi-Wan to have grown out his mullet again. Which also meant, it had been a while since she had last been home, since she had last seen her family.

She was still trying to adjust to her new life as a Jedi. She was still struggling to find a place where she belonged, because if she was honest with herself, she wasn’t sure if she really belonged among the Jedi. They were the heroes of stories, and she was just a nerdy kid who happened to one day appear in their universe. She didn’t really fit in with the other Padawans, who had grown up at the Jedi Temple.

Somedays, like today, when she was really feeling homesick, she would find a quiet place at the Temple and sit down with her sketchbook, drawing all sorts of things from her home. She had failed to notice, however, that she wasn’t entirely alone this time. Anakin walked over to her, “I didn’t know you liked to draw,” he said.

She slammed her sketchbook shut, feeling a little embarrassed, as if he had caught her writing in her diary instead. She looked up at him and smiled a little awkwardly. “Oh, yeah, I do. Sorry, you startled me for a moment, Skywalker.”

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to, Tiny. If it’s alright for me to ask, what were you drawing?”

Her smile fell and her hands covered the sketchbook. She looked down at them, finding a sudden interest in her gloves. She was quiet for a long moment, and Anakin seemed to take it as a sign she didn’t want to tell him.

“Nevermind,” he said.

“No,” she sighed. “Do you promise not to think I’m ‘attached’ to the past or anything like that?”

He sat down next to her. “Of course,” he said.

“I was drawing a park I used to go to before I was a Jedi,” she told him. “I’ve been drawing a lot of things like that recently. It’s hard to explain to anyone else really, everyone here joined the Jedi when they were so young that they hardly know any other life. I had a life outside of this, and it wasn’t that long ago at all. I guess I just feel a little homesick.”

“You’re not the only one, Tiny,” he told her. “I joined the Jedi older than everyone else as well, at least until you came along. I also had a life outside the Order. It’s good that you have happy memories of your home before this one.”

“Can I really call this place home? I’m sorry, Anakin, I just don’t feel like I belong here sometimes. I was just some kid until…” she trailed off, having almost mentioned her sudden appearance in another universe. “Until Master Kenobi found me,” she said instead. “I was never amazing at anything, I just had an ordinary life, with an ordinary family. Now, I’m here, at the Jedi Temple, and I’m the Padawan of Obi-Wan Kenobi, I’m friends with you, and it just doesn’t feel real. It doesn’t feel like I belong as a part of that.”

“Hey, Grim, you belong here. You’re important to me, you little shit.” He playfully ruffled her hair.

She laughed, and then grinned at him. “Thanks Skywalker, you’re important to me too. I’m glad I have you as my friend.”
