What are some little things that are slightly cool about a disability you have?

Hm.. I don't know if you'd call it cool (I would), but my experience with schizophrenia has given me a perspective on reality that sane people don't often have. TW for unreality? I think I've made a post about it a long time ago, but there isn't one singular reality that we all experience. Yeah, there's the collective existence of everything, but as human beings, we can only experience well.. what we experience. We're not omniscient.

This is to say, everyone has their own reality, and the closest thing we get to Reality (singular) is interacting with each other and the world around us. We share our thoughts, feelings, memories. We experience life at the same time, in the same place, and form similar yet different views on the existence of all of that. So, no one is ever really out of touch with reality... everything someone does, says, believes, makes sense within the context of their life - what they've been through, what they've been taught, what they feel and think.

The problem comes when we use our lives - our realities - to harm others. To remove their agency, invalidate their existence. That's something a lot of psychotic people go through. Even when our beliefs and experiences harm no one - not even ourselves - we're forced to change. And when we do experience disorder, we're not given an option to really cope and experience fulfillment as a psychotic person. We're just made to be sane.

I kind of miss being psychotic. It was harmless, when I was younger. Believing I was a deity or cat person or whatever, it made life more colorful. More interesting. The most distressing thing I dealt with was thinking there were microscopic cameras in my walls... and I feel like that could have been coped with. Unfortunately, once my psychosis became severe and life threatening (due to the trauma of antiplurality and psychiatric abuse) the safest option was to just get me on meds to make me sane.

So yeah. Reality is weird and I think psychotics are cool. Also fuck sanists and psychiatry.

im not even a merc fan and i feel the need to defend them against this constant negativity. theyre fine! the "bad" performance here is track specific and they have *never* been good at monaco. it's not two steps back, theyre gonna be back on spain pace or more in baku and canada and most tracks after that. everyone is painting them to be so awful this year pls for once this team is actually being fun! them climbing back up is fun to watch! its gonna be so great to see when theyre back at the top!

I'll tell you one thing for sure, it is hard trying to stay positive that Merc are gonna solve these issues when it seems every race weekend I get asks saying 'think this championship is over for them' or something similar. Seeing so called 'fans' constantly attack the team on social media for struggling is just awful, and doesn't get anyone anywhere. I get Merc fans being worried, we obviously want to see them fighting with Red Bull & Ferrari but the issues they have are not a simple case. What solves bouncing at one track may not work at another because guess what, no tracks are the same. But people forget that the engineers & mechanics know what they are doing, they've been doing this for years. And like you say, Monaco has never been one of Merc's stronger tracks so it doesn't surprise me that they weren't up there in free practice. Again, like I always say in my answers, I have faith Merc will fully solve their issues & be fighting up there again, seeing them struggle now will make it even sweeter when they are winning again.

So July (Jimmy x Lily) is a ship I came up with. Lily is my favorite character and although she has a canonical crush on Gray, I'm personally not invested in that ship. I was thinking about who else Lily could be paired up and if she'd ever consider dating someone from the Union.

Actually, this is exactly what happened:

The first time I wrote them as a couple was in "With Extreme Prejudice, Julia", where they're college students who've been dating since high school. I really enjoyed writing their dynamic as a couple so I decided to keep going lol

Though they've never interacted in the series, Lily's circle of friends definitely overlaps with Jimmy's. You can especially see this when Julia and Lala went on that double date with Jack Kang, Jimmy's best friend. I think it's a matter of luck and timing before Jimmy and Lily meet. Even if they don't, that hasn't stopped me from shipping them 😂

I've always been a big believer that Lily is both sweet and able to handle people who mess with her (this is canon now!!). Jimmy is a obviously a giant jerk, but he has a soft side for the people he cares about. I don't think they'd get along once they met, because they have such wildly different moral codes. But the one thing they have in common is their unshakable loyalty and hard-headedness. Lily was fully prepared to confront a group of thugs to save Julia; Jimmy isn't even on her radar 😌I admit it'd require Jimmy going through some character development, but I think he'd come to respect her strong will and even admire it.

And really, no one can convince me he wouldn't be down bad once he saw her kick someone's ass.

As for Lily, she has a thing for pretty faces and Jimmy isn't bad-looking. She wouldn't "fix" Jimmy to make him the perfect partner, but she'd influence him to be a better person. In return, Jimmy would let her know that sometimes, violence *is* the answer /hj

Anyways onto your second question: I haven't heard of Jimmy having a grandma and I haven't written (or read) any fanfics where he does. The closest thing I can think of is my Cowboy AU where Jimmy has an uncle named Eunjin who runs a ranch. Uncle Jin is an original character and he's not inspired by anyone in the series.

However, I think you may be referring to Stephen in this case! In the Weak Hero: Class One k-drama, Stephen made a promise to his grandma to have perfect attendance at school.

As a big sibling with a lil sib with epilepsy, when they read TBC they Honestly thought if they got struck with lightning reciting the lord's prayer they'd be cured like Shadowsight is from their epilepsy. I had a discussion with them on how that's not how it works, but ge was so upset they took it away from Shadowsight that he hasn't picked the books back up and has stated that 'he hopes Ashfur wins and starts a new religion.,'

and they only had children's shirts but i bought one anyway

and there was so much to see that i ran out of time on the day before we flew back to Scotland so i went back the NEXT day too and spent my last hours in Vienna there to check out every open exhibit

LITERALLY LIKE- MY MAN FELL HARD AND INSANELY. LIKE WHO DOES THAT? I wouldn't have it any other way. Just the way that as soon as Rody came into his life he was like 'I need this man to be so whole-y mine.'

When I was playing the game my pet theory was that he fell for Rody's brand of love, for how he loved Manon (he did say that he spoke of Manon when they first met) and Rody's personality.

Something something, how Rody loves so intensely to the detriment of himself (Manon told him to stop giving, to for once in his life realise that he needed to take care of him self and be stable. He can't just account for the other person's needs <- barely know her but I get why Rody was head over heels). How Rody's love is similar to his cooking, burning, burning himself, burning and oh so overwhelming. And I do think Vince wanted the feel of that burn for himself, wanted to feel the warmth and devotion of which he had been so devoid of. To understand what it was he was lacking. How love and cooking go hand in hand in the story, how Vince's dishes were devoid of love, how he can't taste. How Rody's love surely would be strong enough, would be the missing ingredient to allow him to finally taste something. (Also lack of taste going hand in hand with what looks like depression of some sort, or perhaps just apathy for life. How bland his own life may be. How such a love, such a person could perhaps bring some taste to his life.) Vince seems to have killed Manon as a form of trying to show Rody a similar type of love. Giving him something, giving him a meal made out of Rody's own love. A gift since he couldn't give his own brand of love in a way that matters, couldn't give it without showing his own brand of devotion. I do think he 100% had an underlying jealousy and hatred of Manon, how Rody was still stuck up on her. How she never once mentioned Rody when her and Vince dated (though outside of Vince's pov I'm pretty sure Manon was just doing the healthy normal thing by not mentioning an ex?? but Vince is soooo gone) which is obviously a sin (he doesn't seem to take kindly to people who are mean to Rody. Such as the article and Rody's old college classmate) and proof she wasn't deserving enough of Rody's love. But alas she was still a gift and show of love to Rody.

On the personality topic (thought I forgot about that did you?), Rody is such a brash and kind person. A perfect foil for Vincent's more stoic nature. Rody willing to try and befriend Vincent, running into the kitchen to talk to him. He showed a bit of said love to Vince by trying to befriend him and how could Vince not want more? (why wouldn't Vince try to reciprocate in his own way. Make him happy) I mean he seems pretty feared by his cooks, and the people at the party have mentioned that Vince is pretty ruthless, not at all a person many wish to get to know. But Rody is willing to, yet Vince wants his undivided attention...

Okay wow this has gone on way too long uhh I'm 100% open to further discussion especially if I forgot something! And I haven't really looked too much into the game past playing it, so any reveals the creator may have given I'm mostly unaware of and would love to be informed of more!

Seeing a lot of debate about George, Williams and Mercedes seat at the moment, what’s happened, have I missed something?

Bascially George was supposed to be in the Merc seat alongside Lewis last year, but Claire blocked the move & had George finish his 3 year contract (which fair), but then when Dorilton brought the team, Jost Captio wanted to replace him because George didn't bring as much money as Latifi did.

Kevin Magnussen wrote in his autobiography that Capito approached him to come to Williams, but he turned it down when he found out he would be taking George's seat & not Nicky's. The anger from fans is one, George should've been in the Merc seat earlier than this year and two, he may have had no seat all because Doriltoon were stupid enough to want to get rid of their better driver just because they wanted more money.

It again comes down to the fact that talented drivers are losing their seats & the seats they should be having because less talented driver have more money. And I get that the teams obviously need the money, but it should not come before signing the better drivers. I like Nicky, but George is clearly a much better driver than him & he should've never been that close to not having an F1 seat at all

We’re going to talk about the 1889 meeting. Why? because I’m back on my bullshit after drawing this, and am not done dissecting the episode quite yet.

I want to begin where it all starts going wrong, which in my opinion, is when Dream tells Hob Lushing Lou’s real name. By doing this, Dream inadvertently reveals more of his inhuman nature (knowing the real name and backstory of a person he’s never met). Hob looks at him and says “How do you know all that?”, and Dream deflects by looking down at Hob’s cup and responding with “Your cup is empty, you need more wine.”

Hob doesn’t take the bait. Instead he continues, “You knew Lady Johanna, you know Lushing Lou, you know everyone, don’t you?”. He pushes Dream, because Hob only has scraps of information after centuries of meeting with the man and he wants to know more. Every time they meet he shares his whole being with His Stranger, shares entire lives he’s lived and names hes taken. He’s seen Hob at his best and his worst, and what does Hob know in turn? that he’s immortal like him? that he has some weird sand that subdues people? and now, apparently, that he knows everyone and the life they’ve lived? Still, Dream deflects; “Saw her again, you know.”

And Hob gives in.

I love how he just looks at Dream for a second, then smiles almost bitterly at the table and puts his cigar down before looking back up and indulging Dream. He see’s that this line of conversation will get him no where, that His Stranger is avoiding this subject and will continue to do so whether Hob joins him in that or not. So Hob looks down at the table in acceptance, as if he didn’t expect to get anywhere with his statements but was disappointed nonetheless, and looks back up with a small smile to indulge Dreams avoidance.

But Hob doesn’t let go of it.

When Dream tells him that Lady Johanna undertook a task for him and succeeded, Hob again highlights the fact that he knows practically nothing about His Stranger- albeit in a more straightforward way.

“That might be the only thing I’ve learnt after 500 years.”

To me it feels like Hob doesn’t care about the information itself- Lady Johanna doing anything some 100, 50, 20 years ago means nothing to Hob right now. Its who the information is coming from, what it represents. Dream might have avoided divulging why he knew so many people’s names and stories, and Hob might have temporarily allowed him to, but he had never truly dropped the subject. And the way he looks- Hob naturally smiles a lot, and even now he can’t stop the way his lips quirk despite it being at his own self-deprecation. You can see it written all over his face here and in the above sequence when he puts his cigar down; the humourless way he smiles at his own misfortune.

But Hob is nothing if not persevering, so he brightens up the mood, talks about how people are almost always better than you think they are.

We could also read him opening up to Dream (talking about his mistakes, learning from them even though it feels like it doesn’t stop him from making them- perhaps a little foreshadowing for whats about to come next) as a way of trying to get Dream himself to open up. He is honest with Dream, as he always has been, in the hopes that tonight is the night His Stranger becomes a little more honest with him (though with our current track record of the night, this doesn’t seem likely, but as Hob says...he cant seem to stop making mistakes, and i wonder if this is something he thinks often of himself when Dream fails to meet him in 1989).

Dream looks at him like this:

And maybe its that not-quite smile he gives Hob after his honesty, that emboldens him to say “I think it’s you that’s changed,”. And this, my friends, is where shit well and truly hits the fan. Because suddenly that small smile is gone, though not in anger yet, and Dream asks “How so?”

We all know what happens next. Hob, correctly, supplies the idea that the reason Dream continues to meet him every century, despite them both knowing at this point that Hob will never give up on life, is because His Stranger seeks friendship. Hob understands, of course he does; Dream is the only living constant Hob has, he’s already referred to Dream as his friend because to Hob, that’s what he is- regardless of how much he does or doesn’t know about the man. This is of course when the iconic “YyOUU dAAREREeee,,.,..1..1.1....,,,,.” scene happens, and Hob briefly tries to backtrack. He averts his eyes immediately and looks at the table (a recurring staple in avoidance tonight), gesturing with his hand as he says “No, look, I’m not saying-”, as if trying to explain it any better would make Dream accept it. I like that he seems to backtrack just a little bit, only to double down on it a few moments later. He put himself out there a bit by boldly stating that Dream sought companionship with him, that His Stranger was lonely, and it was evidently ill-received so he backpedals to reduce the damage of his words.

Yet when Dream says “You dare suggest one such as i might need your companionship?”, Hob simply looks at him and says yes. Yes, because he does, and this night has been a sequence of Hob pushing and relenting on what he actually wants to talk about so of course this is the moment he pushes.

And when Dream stands up? When Hob stands? When Hob moves forward?

I don’t know why he moved forward, why he took that step closer to Dream- what was he planning on doing? reaching out and touching him? simply standing closer as if it might keep His Stranger with him for just a few minutes? give him just enough time to talk some sense into the man? I don’t know, but i love it nonetheless.

And when Dream leaves, when Hob chases him. When he doesn’t tell His Stranger that he didn’t need him anyway, doesn’t say good luck finding someone else who understands- but instead says that he’ll wait. That he’ll still be there, 100 years later, because they’re friends and because Hob has faith in him, in them. That if Dream shows up, it’ll be because they are friends.

When he stands there, and quietly but with feeling says “...Fuck.”
