SoM Day 10
time to contemplate mortality (not that keraunos really knows what that is)
Keraunos hummed, not entirely following what she was getting at but not too keen on catching up. After all, what did it matter what size he was or what kind of bird he looked like?
Alkidike led the way, following landmarks only familiar to her, and stopping every once in a while to investigate her traps. They were simple, basic snares, only big enough to catch rodents or maybe a bird if it happened to be keen on walking around. As it stood, she caught two rabbits, thin from the lean winter, but hopefully enough for now. After each kill, she handed the limp body to Keraunos, telling him to hold it by the legs while she reset the trap.
It felt weird touching those bodies after the girl had cut their throats and their muscles stilled, eyes glazing over. It wasn’t like Ares or the messenger—limp and motionless. It was hollow and empty like whatever made them move was just gone. He didn’t like it. And when they finished and began walking back to the house and Alkidike offered to carry the rabbits for him, he quickly shoved them in her direction and scrubbed his hands clean of the sensation.
With only a bit of a limp and the aching wish that her father’s blood had given her his inhuman healing, Alkidike led the pair home. There, Keraunos took the shadows while Celaeno fussed and chided and blessed her daughter for at least coming home and not getting eaten by some monster.
The girl rolled her eyes and tried not to wince while her mother cleaned her scrapes. “I wasn’t gonna get eaten. It was running scared, I totally coulda killed it.”
“You don’t know that,” Celaeno warned as she pressed a green pulp into her wounds.
Alkidike huffed, “Mama, if I’m gonna be a huntress, I gotta prove myself! I gotta be a monster-slayer, a hero, just like the stories.”
Celaeno seemed ill-content with the thought, but Alkidike was already bouncing in her seat, bored and well-passed the sting of embarrassment. The girl got sent out to fetch water and Celaeno collapsed back in her chair with a sigh.
“I worry for her,” she admitted, peering towards Keraunos. “I worry Fate will not be kind to her.”
Fate seemed to have grand plans for him, so he asked, “Why wouldn’t it be kind?”
She shook her head. “It’s just a feeling. I worry I used up all our good will getting here and the only thing left is to balance it out.” She pursed her lips and asked, “If there is any good left for us, would you make sure it’s used for her? Please?”
Before he could promise, the girl bounded up the stairs again, water in had, pulling the room into motion. Celaeno un-creased her brows, drew her daughter into a crushing hug that made her wiggle and squirm and complain, before releasing her once more. They made food, offering a generous portion to Keraunos which he gobbled up, and then prepared the room for sleep.
The godling took the bed, something Celaeno was unwilling to compromise on, insisting that the side of a hearth was hardly the worst place she’d ever been made to sleep. He took her word for it, lying down alone, while mother and daughter curled up together by the fire, wrapped in wool and tangles of hair. He stared at the ceiling, fingers twitching at his side, until sleep finally swept him away.

Winter Light
Pairing:Tom Grant (Make Up) x OFC
Summary: Vanessa, a young cancer patient, arrives at a remote holiday park in Cornwall to wait out the rest of her days, but after a chance meeting with a park employee named Tom who's nursing a broken heart, Vanessa realizes life may not be done with her yet.
Warnings: angst (oh so much angst), slow burn, some fluff, swearing, serious illness (cancer), suicide attempt, death, drowning (in this chapter)
A/N: First ever fic, and English is my second language, so please be kind. Also, I kind of shamelessly ripped off “Third Star” (the 2009 movie with Benedict Cumberbatch, JJ Feild, and Tom Burke) for this.

Chapter 1 - "Tom"
As the cab wound its way along the coastal road, Vanessa wondered what it would feel like to drown.
It would probably be quite cold, she thought, eyeing the choppy, steel-grey sea with its crests of white foam underneath a sky the color of dirty cotton balls, just visible amongst the sand dunes. It looked nothing like the deep blue sea and sunny skies she remembered from her childhood. But she had never minded the cold.
It would probably hurt. Once, when she had just started learning how to swim, she had gone under and breathed in by mistake. The chlorinated water had burned her nose and her throat. This would hurt much, much more. But hopefully she would be too tired by then to notice, and it would be over soon.
The caravans started appearing, squat, utilitarian shoeboxes that lined the road, their windows blank or shut, like blind eyes. The place looked deserted. Nobody came to Cornwall in October.
The cab turned and pulled to a stop. The driver cleared his throat. He hadn't opened his mouth since they left the station, when Vanessa told him she would pay extra if they could get there in silence. It was a long drive though. Vanessa found that some silences could be relaxing and comfortable, while others were protracted and awkward. This man's silence thundered.
The woman behind the reception desk had sun-bleached hair, skin scoured red by the Cornish wind, and hard features. Still, her smile was friendly enough when Vanessa asked for a caravan. She said her name was Shirley, as she dug out a key from the board behind her.
"I'll put you into one of our residential vans," she said with the rasping voice of a chain smoker, though Vanessa saw no evidence of a cigarette in the office. "All the holiday ones are being cleaned."
"That's fine."
"Nobody comes here in October, so we thought we'd get an early start on the strip down," Shirley explained. "You're alright with that?" she asked, indicating Vanessa's cane.
"Yes. Just had a bit of an accident."
"How long you staying?"
"A week," Vanessa gave the rehearsed answer.
"We close by the end of October, just so you know."
"I know," Vanessa replied. Then she added, half to herself, "I'll be gone by then."
Shirley glanced at her with sharp eyes, and Vanessa was afraid that she'd said too much. But the older woman only barked into a walkie-talkie, "Incomer!"
A moment later, a curly head with a scowl poked through the door. "Ah, Tom," Shirley said. "Take Miss Curran here to her van."
The boy grunted. "Which one?"
"717. Jade's old one."
A flinch, almost imperceptible. Vanessa idly wondered who this Jade was and what she had been to this boy, but before she could examine him for more evidence, he had withdrawn again. She took the key from Shirley, said a quick "thank you", and followed him.
"Enjoy your stay," came Shirley's wheezy reply.
Vanessa struggled to keep up with the boy as he rolled her suitcase down the main path. She was grateful when he slowed his steps to wait for her, though he didn't show any sign of noticing her cane. She was even more grateful that he didn't seem the talkative type. His scowl had only deepened, and one of his curls had escaped, bouncing against his forehead with every step. In another life, Vanessa might have found him cute. But now she forced herself to be indifferent and look away.
The caravan stood on a bluff overlooking the beach. It looked trim and neat enough, though the front was marred by some window boxes full of weed and dead plants. There were several similar caravans around, but they looked unoccupied. It was perfect. She would be completely alone, which was exactly what she wanted. The boy dropped her suitcase outside and left before she could say thank you. He didn't even glance at the caravan. Could be an interesting mystery to unravel, why he seemed so sullen. It must have something to do with the previous occupant of the caravan. An ex-girlfriend, a bad breakup, perhaps? Too bad she wouldn't be around to confirm it.
Inside, the caravan was bigger than she'd expected, with a nice view of the coast. The furniture was basic, but she wasn't going to stay long anyway. She did everything she used to do when she went on holiday with her parents - dumped her suitcase in the bedroom, poked around the kitchen and the bathroom, looked into cabinets, jumped on the sofa, allowing herself to enjoy the novelty of being in a new place, even if it was just for a while. Then she showered, ate some supper, took her medications, and went to bed. Just another day.
***
The next day dawned bright and clear. Vanessa woke at sunrise and got dressed. The pain was back, gnawing at her bones like a pack of hungry wolves, so she took some liquid morphine to dull it, just enough so she could walk down to the beach. The pain kept her alert. She didn't want to get too tired before she could swim out far enough.
She took the letters out of her suitcase and pondered them. She thought about taking them with her, but surely they would be safer here, and someone would go back for her belongings regardless of whether her body was found or not. But it might be a while before anyone noticed her missing. In the end, she decided to leave the letters in an easy-to-see spot in the caravan and wrote a quick, generic note to take with her, so whoever found her clothes would know to inform her family right away.
She noticed her hand was shaking a little as she closed the door of the caravan. She pulled herself together. It was just a swim. She had practically lived in water since she was little. There was no reason to be afraid.
She left her cane in the caravan, thinking it would be too cumbersome. It was a good thing that her caravan was right by the beach, or else she might not have managed the walk. The pain was still clamoring for her attention, and walking on the uneven ground made it worse. By the time she reached the water's edge, she was glad to sit down on the soft sand. The sea was calm today, a warm peach color under the rising sun. A mild wind tugged at her dark hair.
Slowly, methodically, so she didn't have to think about anything else, Vanessa started taking her clothes off. She was wearing a bathing suit underneath, not because she wanted people to think she had actually gone out for a swim, but simply because the idea of going into the water in her normal clothes seemed weird to her. She wanted everything to be as normal as possible, until the last moment. She took the note out of her pocket, put it on top of the clothes, and put her shoes over it so it wouldn't blow away.
A movement out of the corner of her eyes turned her head. She saw a man walking down the beach, not too far from her, his curls rioting in the wind. She recognized those curls. The surly boy who had taken her to her caravan the day before. What was his name, Tim? No, Tom. He stood at the top of the bluff, looking down at the beach as if in contemplation. Vanessa turned her back on him and held her breath. Go away. Go away, go away, please. There are miles of sea all around. You don't have to go down here. Go away. Leave me alone.
But he didn't go away. He peeled off his jacket and shirt, kicked his shoes to the side, and ran down the beach. Vanessa could hear the splash as he dove into the water.
Frustrated, she plunged her hand into the sand, squeezing its cold grittiness between her fingers. Should she risk it? If she waited until he finished swimming and left, or if she went to another beach, more people might show up. Perhaps she would be lucky; he might be too focused on his own swimming and not see her until it was too late. But what if he did see her and decide to save her? No, better go somewhere else.
She gathered up her clothes and struggled to her feet. As she did so, something caught her attention. It was quiet. Too quiet. The splashing from the boy had stopped. She could still see his head bobbing in the water, but he wasn't making any progress. Occasionally, his head would dip down, only to resurface again but remaining above the water for a shorter time. From the shore, she could see him tilling his head back, trying to keep his mouth and nose out of the water, and his arms flailing wildly.
Vanessa's lifeguard instinct kicked in. She scanned the beach, but it was deserted. Nobody she could call for help, nothing she could use. If only she'd brought her cane! Her eyes landed on her windbreaker. It would have to do. She grabbed it and plunged into the sea. In an instant, she realized what the problem was - the water was freezing. The soft peachy hue of the sea was deceiving. The cold bit into her like millions of tiny needles, knocking the breath out of her. But she still remembered her training. She swam toward the boy in quick, decisive strokes and soon got used to the cold; in fact, it helped to take the attention away from the pain in her bones.
He seemed to notice her when she reached him. She threw the soaking wet windbreaker toward him. "Grab on!" she shouted. He threw his arm out, trying to reach for it, but it was too far away. A wave pushed them apart, and the windbreaker slipped out of her hand. Shit. Well, there was nothing else to it but to try and tow him herself. "I'm going behind you," Vanessa yelled above the noise of the wind and the waves. "Try to keep your head above water!" She didn't know if he could hear her. As she reached for him from behind, she could feel him thrashing, his weight pulling them down. "Stay calm...!" she tried to say, but her head went under and salt water poured into her nose and mouth. She tried kicking out, pushing him away, but he was too heavy and she couldn't tread water. There was no strength left in her arms. Her legs screamed in protest. Her lungs burned. It hurt, so much more than she thought. It was even worse than the pain in her bones, and she definitely wasn't too tired to notice it. She was aware of every second of agony. So this was it. She was going to die in the water, just as she'd wanted, but it would be because this stupid boy had ruined her careful plan...
Suddenly the weight on her eased a little. She didn't know if the boy had gone unconscious or if he had regained his sense, but his hands had slipped from her shoulders. Kicking with all her might, she pulled herself up, out of the water, and took in a lungful of blessed air. Then she dove under again, hooked one arm around him, and pulled him spluttering to the surface. It was much easier now that he was working with her, and together, they swam as one, dragging themselves back to shore.
At last, her feet found solid ground, and they were out of the water. She collapsed onto the sand. For what seemed like an eternity, she lied there, feeling the wet sand under her, the cold wind on her skin, the soothing air in her lungs. Her legs throbbed, but she ignored it. She didn't even care if the boy lived or died, until a gasping sound reminded her of his presence. She sat up and wheeled around to face him. He was on all four, coughing up water, his hair limp around his face, his lips blue with cold.
"You owe me a jacket!" she tried to shout, but it only came out as a hoarse whisper.
"S-sor-sorry," he sputtered. "C-c-colder... th-than I thought." He finally got to his feet and staggered off, without a glance back. Vanessa was too exhausted to be offended. She edged toward the dry sand and tried to pull her clothes back on with clumsy fingers, still numb with cold.
Suddenly something was draped over her shoulders. She turned around. The boy had come back and put his jacket on her. He only had on a T-shirt and shorts, but he was no longer trembling.
Vanessa refused to be placated by the gesture. "Are you mad or something, going swimming in October?" she said.
"Saw you ready to go in. Thought the water was fine. Got cramps." His voice was still a bit croaky.
She almost blurted out "I wasn't going for a swim, you idiot!" but stopped herself in time. "I used to be a lifeguard," she grumbled. "This cold is nothing." She put on her own clothes and handed back his jacket. He spread his hand toward her, indicating that she should keep it. She dropped it at his feet. It was probably rude of her, but she was past caring.
She hadn't gone more than a couple of steps when he called out, "Hey, you dropped something..."
Vanessa turned back and saw him holding her note in his hand. It must have fallen from her clothes to the sand. She tried to snatch it back, but the content had caught his eyes. She could see him scanning the few short, businesslike lines she had scribbled - "To whoever found this: Please tell my family that I love them, and I'm sorry. I have letters for them in my caravan, #717. Please make sure they receive those. Thank you, Vanessa Curran."
He looked up at her, his brown eyes widened in horror. "What were you doing down here?" he whispered.
"None of your business." Vanessa made to grab the note again, but he moved it out of her reach.
"What were you going to do?" he repeated.
There was no use dissembling now. "I was going to swim out to sea and let the water hold me down," she said, trying to sound flippant. He didn't react to the quip. "It's a Talking Heads reference," she explained. "You know, 'letting the days go by, let the water hold me down'? No?" He still looked blank. She felt foolish. "Never mind. I was going to drown myself, what did you think?"
It took him a moment to digest that. "Why here?" he asked. "You could've done that anywhere."
"We used to come here when I was a kid," she said. "Well, not here here. Newquay. But Newquay is too crowded, so I came here instead. I guess I just wanted to relive some of those happy memories. Could've picked a better time though."
But the boy paid no attention to her rambling. "Have you any idea how much trouble you would cause?" he said. "The park is struggling enough as it is. Words got out that someone killed herself here, nobody would come anymore."
Vanessa wasn't expecting him to attack her with that. She scoffed. "Excuse me if I don't give a shit."
"I won't let you do that to us."
Anger flared up inside her. Who did he think he was?
"Fine. Guess I'll go to a hotel and overdose on pills like a normal person then." With satisfaction, she saw a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes.
"I'm sorry, I can't let you do that," he said quietly.
"What are you, HAL 9000? Try and stop me."
"I can. I'll call the police or a hospital." He waved the note. "This proves that you're a danger to yourself."
"You wouldn't."
"I would."
"Why do you care?"
"You just saved my life," the boy said. "I'd like to return the favor, if I can."
There was something in the simple, earnest way he said it that took the fight out of her. She sank down on the sand and wrapped her arms around her drawn-up knees.
"Don't bother," she said. "After what happened there, I realize I'm too much of a coward to go through with it. So I'm not going to try again. And I won't have to, anyway."
The boy sat down next to her, trying to peer at her face. "Why?" he asked.
Vanessa pondered. Was she about to give her whole life story to this stranger? But he had known enough already. And she often found it much easier revealing the naked truth to a stranger than to someone you knew. She could trust the stranger to react with restraint and not become hysterical. "Bone cancer," she said, tapping her leg.
He was quiet for a long time. She could feel his eyes on her, taking in her thin hair, her sunken eyes, her paleness that had nothing to do with the cold. Then he said, "I was going to say 'I'm sorry', but I suppose you hear that a lot."
His honesty was refreshing. "Oh, you have no idea."
"What about your family?"
"They... fuss over me." The mention of her family brought up the guilt that had been eating away at her ever since her diagnosis, the guilt she'd come here to escape but had only gotten stronger. She shook her head, getting rid of those thoughts like a dog shaking off water. "I just want things to go on as normal until they end, you know? But they're incapable of doing that. They insist on treating me as a sick person, and I've had enough of it." She glanced at the boy. He was still looking at her with a slight frown. Salt had dried on his eyelashes, clumping them together, accentuating his big round eyes. There was no pity or morbid fascination in those eyes, just a genuine attempt to understand.
"What's your plan now?" finally he asked.
Vanessa had been thinking about that as well. She was glad that he didn't waste time with some clichés about how her family loved her and only wanted the best for her. "I guess I'll just let nature run its course. Surely it would be no trouble for the park if I die of natural causes here, would it?"
She could tell he was uncomfortable with her easy way of talking about death, but he only asked, "Won't people look for you?"
Vanessa looked sharply at him. "My family knows I'm here. So if you're some sort of crazed axe murderer looking to pick off lonely tourists, don't even think about it."
"You might be a crazed axe murderer," he said, the hint of a smile twinkling in his eyes.
"Yeah, a Cornish Jason Voorhees, going after the staff of caravan parks instead of summer camp counselors," Vanessa sniggered. But she soon sobered as her thoughts returned to more pressing matters.
"The thing is, I'm not sure where I'll go. The park's closing at the end of October, isn't it?"
"Only the holiday vans," the boy said. "The residential ones are still open. There're lots of empty ones for let. Just ask Shirley."
Vanessa made some quick calculations. There would probably be enough money left in her account for a couple of months' rent. "Thanks for letting me know," she said.
He held out the note to her. "You want this back?"
It was no use to her now, but she took it back anyway. "Maybe I'll keep it on me at all times, so if I should drop down dead somewhere, people would know what to do," she joked. "Sort of a reverse 'I ATEN'T DED' note." He looked blank again. "It's from Terry Pratchett's... Never mind." She got up and walked back to the caravan. Halfway up the buff, her tired legs gave out. The boy ran to the top and pulled her up. His hand was surprisingly warm and soft, despite his calluses and recent brush with death.
Vanessa stumbled as she cleared the bluff and fell into his arms. She quickly corrected herself. He also shuffled back, embarrassed.
"Thank you," she said. Then, as an afterthought, "You're Tom, right?"
"Tom Grant."
As she walked toward the caravan, he called after her, "Hey." She turned back. "Thank you. Vanessa. For saving me."
"Don't mention it," she said and continued on her way. To her confusion, she realized she was blushing.

Y/n was nervous.
She didn't think she would get nervous anymore. It was as if defeating the Demogorgon and saving Will had sucked all the anxiety that fled through her body. But as she sat waiting outside an office of the lab, she was certain in the nerves she felt. Because, unlike most, this was how she was meant to be spending her Christmas Eve.
Her hands were gripping the files that were requested so hard that she thought she might break them if she weren't too careful. Alas, as the elevator door pinged and Chief Jim Hopper walked out, she relaxed. She stood from her chair and practically sprinted to the man. "You're late." Y/n stated rather sternly.
Hopper dragged the cig from his lips, "No I'm not." He looked to the office that was awaiting them, the name Sam Owens starring back at him. "It hasn't started yet." Y/n wanted to make the point that she had been waiting here alone for almost twenty minutes now, instead, Hopper was passing over an envelope. "You're welcome, by the way." He added.
The letter was addressed to her, with the Hawkins Police stamp in the bottom corner. Her brows became knitted as she glanced back up at the man. "What is it?"
"Open it and you'll see, won't you?" He answered.
Y/n did so, ripping the envelope open and scanning the letter.
Here at the Hawkins Police Station would like to offer you a internship....
Y/n felt her eyes light up as they jolted back up to Hopper. "You actually got me an internship?" She just had to check.
"Well, it's more of a contract. While you're working, you have to keep out of actually getting arrested. Alright, kid?" He explained. And while, yes, Y/n wasn't happy that maybe she wasn't able to get that extra cash anymore, this was what she asked for, what she had wanted to do.
She smiled, and held out her hand for him to take, shoving the letter in with the other files, "Alright." Hopper too grinned before shaking the hand of the girl.
That was when the office door, finally, opened and Owens dipped his head out into the hallway, hiding the dread behind his eyes. "You all ready?" And the nerves returned. Hopper noted the way the girl suddenly stiffened and the way her smile completely fell.
The man pressed a gentle palm to her back, "Yeah, let's get this over with." And so the two entered the office of doom.
Owens sat behind his desk, chest puffed out as his smug smile felt dripped in pride. Y/n was awkwardly seated next to Hopper, never seeming to meet the scientist's eyes. "I've constructed a sort of agreement, we can read over it. Then once it's signed, we'll hopefully never have to see each other again." He started with a forced grin that made Y/n feel like she might be sick.
"And what if we don't agree?" Questioned Hopper before taking another drag from his cig, stern in his eyes.
Owens shrugged, "Well, then we'll need to talk some more until we finally come to some sort of, deal, I guess." Y/n knew the lab had the power here. They always did. They had been sweeping things under the rug for years now; if they really wanted to, they could do the same to Y/n.
"I just want to know what happened to my mother. All of it." Y/n stated as her leg bounced in time with her anxious heart beat.
"And that is all here..." Owens patted a collection of files before meeting the girl's gaze. "And you can read these as much as you want, after this is signed."
The man pushed over two letters, two contracts. Hopper practically snatched it from the desk as he started reading, Y/n followed suit a little more calmly. She read over the words carefully, feeling as her gut sank letter by letter. From next to her, various scoffs and grunts were sounded from Hopper as he read on. He pushed the letter back down. "No."
Owens sighed, "These are our terms."
"I won't let you make this women out to be crazy." Hopper demanded as if that wasn't what most people already claimed her to be.
"Why don't we let the girl decide whether to sign or not, hm?" And then Y/n felt both pair of pupils turn to her. "Everything about your mother's abilities and all the tests outcomes are right here, and they're yours, if you want them to be." Y/n knew the way in which he was certainly twisting his words, but she'd be lying if she wasn't just slightly tempted.
Hopped scoffed once more from Y/n's side, "You want her, a teenager, to declare that her mother was un-fit in taking care of herself, and her child. And that you, the lab that killed her, was in fact the best thing for her." The man reiterated the letter as if it were a joke. "Oh, and to affirm that she committed suicide." He laughed.
Y/n felt water prick at her eyes as the air suddenly became thin. "Look, we just want to keep everything-"
Y/n cut Owens off as she led forward, grasped a pen and signed the contract. She let out an exhale that she didn't know she had been holding, leaning back in her chair. "Y/n-" Hopper was about to lecture her, but he barely even got another word out.
"She wouldn't want me wasting days or weeks or months trying to get you idiots to admit what you've done." Y/n started as she leant over the desk, taking the files that were hers before standing from her seat. "You are a selfish person who has no idea what your doing to people's lives."
Hopper didn't know what to do. But, at the end of the day, whether he agreed with it or not, this was her choice. So he too quickly signed his name and stood.
Y/n went to turn for the door, feeling the tears finally escape as she sought out the exit. Yet, still, she felt a pull to continue her piece. She debated leaving, but, for whatever reason, she glanced back at Owens. "You killed her!" The girl snapped. "And still you sit there with a smile and ask me to just, to sign the life she had away like she was just some nut case." Exactly like what they had done to Terry Ives. "I do hope now we never have to see each other again."
And with that, she made her escape.
Y/n felt like she was running as she made her way towards the elevator, hitting the button as Hopper joined her side. "You didn't have to sign, you know?" He told her.
The girl sniffled, attempting to hide the water that stained her cheeks. "I just want to forget about this, alright?" Maybe the idea of the Upside Down and the Demogorgon would always haunt her, but at least there was a certain comfort it that it was over now. In a few years, she hoped it would just become a passing thought. But, for now, she would do all in her power to push it as far away as she was able.
Hopper nodded as the elevator doors pinged and they entered, pressing for the ground floor. "Okay, kid." He glanced down at her, "You need a ride now?"
A small, yet certain, smile tugged at her lips as she met Hopper's eyes. "I do actually, yeah."
And that was how Hopper got roped into packing presents into the back seat of his truck, heading for the Wheeler's house.
He put on a front that he wasn't happy about such, but, in honesty, it was good to see a sense of normality surface once more. To celebrate Christmas without the fear of questioning where Will was, or what had happened to Y/n's mother. And, she supposed, things were some-what back to the way they had been before. I mean there were a few changes, she acquired an internship, an odd friendship with Nancy Wheeler and, well, shared trauma.
As Hopper pulled into the Wheeler's driveway, he was adamant that he dropped her off only. Of which, Y/n respected before scooping up all the presents and wondering to the front door.
The girl knocked, a sigh of relief following in that she hadn't dropped anything. And soon enough, the door opened and Nancy started back at her with an assumed expression. "Oh, God." She giggled as Y/n entered the home, dropping the bags of wrapping paper by her feet. "Really didn't expect you to be the holiday type."
Y/n shrugged as she glanced back at Nancy, "I thought we could probably boost morale after you know...almost dying." Holiday cheer just happened to be the way to do such. "I've actually got you something..." The girl trailed off as she rummaged through the bags before pulling out a small little square.
"You didn't have to." Nancy insisted as she took the gift, inspecting it a little.
"It's really more of a sentiment." Y/n said before watching as the girl unwrapped it, a velvet box starring back at her.
Nancy's brows her narrowed before flipping it open. Then she giggled. "Lovely sentiment, really." The girl picked at the bullet and held it up as it met the light.
"Just, maybe, don't show your parents." Y/n winked.
Just then, footsteps came rushing through the hallway from the basement: Johnathan Byers and his little brother Will. The young boy had a smile written into his expression which Y/n had yearned to seen again ever since they found his 'body' at Lover's Lake. "Hey, Y/n." Greeted Johnathan. "What are you doing here?"
Y/n gestured down to the serval gifts by her feet before glancing back up at him. "Spreading the Christmas cheer, obviously." The girl joked. "Which reminds me, Will." The young boy beamed as he knew what was to soon follow as Y/n shuffled through her bag. "As promise. Well, as Dustin promised you."
She pulled out a comic. Her X-men 134.
At that point, Will was practically glowing. "Really?" He gleamed with the brightest grin. Y/n nodded and passed it to the boy who was almost jumping on his feet.
Then Y/n looked to her best friend and handed him too a wrapped gift. "As always." She smiled as she passed him the familiar shaped rectangle.
The boy didn't even have to open it. Their Christmas gift was a tradition of great importance. Before Johnathan opened it, he rummaged from his jacket pocket, and pulled out a similar gift. "I got Will to pick some out as well." Said boy smiled next to his older brother, urging them as they unwrapped their gifts.
A mixtape. Both of them titled: Johnathan and Y/n's 1983 mix.
After saying thanks to one another, Y/n said her goodbyes to the brothers and Nancy as she went in search of her cousin - who was still bickering and playing with the rest of the party in Mike Wheeler's basement. Y/n didn't even dare venture downstairs. Instead, she lurked in the doorway and yelled, "Dustin!".
She didn't have to be down there to know his eyes had rolled, "Coming!" He shouted back, but it still took him at least 5 minutes before the boy wondered back upstairs.
"Took your time." Y/n commented as they made their way towards the front door.
"You would too if you had just beat Mike's campaign." He defended.
Y/n smiled just slightly, "So you won now, did you?" Dustin grinned a toothless grin that gave Y/n her answer.
"Henderson!" Called a voice as the two cousins lingered by the front door. Both of them, sharing a last name turned, but when they were faced with King Steve, Dustin knew it was certainly not for him.
Y/n felt her brow raise as she stepped towards him, meeting in the middle of the corridor. "Harrington." She greeted.
He started rushing around, searching his pockets for something and Y/n was quick to question where this was going. "I erm- I wanted to give you something." He returned with a photograph, glancing at it as if checking it was the right one and passed it over to Y/n. "It was in my room, tucked a way with a load of other childhood stuff. I was going to give it to you at the funeral, but I thought, I don't know..."
Y/n's mother started back at her. It was a photo around 8 years ago to the dot. A Christmas photo of herself, her mum and Steve after just sharing gifts which each other's family. She had completely forgotten about it.
As she glanced back up at Steve, she felt a pull like maybe the boy in front of her did, in fact, have a heart stuffed away somewhere. The pull was so strong that Y/n just so happened to throw her arms around the boy. Steve stood for a second. He certainly hadn't expected such reaction. But as the moment passed, he tucked his arms around her waist and let her hold on tightly. "Thanks, Stevie." She whispered against his neck.
"Of course." He replied before the two returned from one another.
Y/n took a step back and glanced to Steve, now a flicker of the boy she used to know from middle school. "I'll see you around." She said before coming back to Dustin's side.
"Yeah, have a good Christmas." Steve wished.
And with that, two cousins left the Wheeler house for their own. "What the hell was that about?" Asked a rather confused Dustin.
"None of your business."
But when Y/n came back home, entering her room, she instantly stuck Steve's photo by her mirror. She knew that every morning, everyday, she'd look to it and be reminded of the pull that she felt with Steve. Maybe it was a one off. Or maybe, it really was trying to tell her something.
The rest of that Christmas eve night was spent reading every paper in her mother's file. Every word, every test, ever observation. The girl read about all the abilities of her mother. From telepathy of entering and, what they called, constructing the mind, to the slight ability o foresight.
But what stood out to Y/n was one of the last statements of an observation:
Abilities may be passed through genetics, more testing to be done to confirm.

Hi there. I have a prompt request for your anthology. It includes Ivy being sick at home and off school. Her parents are out for the day and she doesn’t want to be alone so, you guessed it, she goes to Jack. Cue Jack doting on his human while she’s ill. Hope you like it.
(Thanks Anon, I did!! Read the full excerpt below the cut or on FF here)
Ivy scowled at herself in the mirror. That in itself wasn't particularly new, but the ever-present redness in her cheeks and the weird shine in her eyes was. Her throat and back were sore, but she ignored them stubbornly and doused her face in cold water instead, hoping that might clear the stupid fog in her head.
It didn't work. And now her face was cold. Great.
She stumbled her way back to her bedroom, wondering if she could get away with adding another layer without looking suspicious. The autumn weather was setting in, so that might help mask the chills that were starting up and down her body. She wasn't sniffing or anything, so hopefully the increasing soreness of her throat could pass by undetected. The fluffy warmth of her bed was calling, covers pulled back perfectly to display her spot, but Ivy resisted and pulled on an extra sweater. She'd be fine. Pop a DayQuil, maybe drink enough water for once, and it'd be fine.
It had to be. She may…not have to go to school at the moment, but somebody had to make sure Anton got up, and since – she checked her watch – both her parents were at work now, it had to be her.
Steadying herself against Anton's door, she took a deep breath and knocked. "C'mon, Little Leite. Up 'n at 'em."
No response, but even with her blocked ears Ivy could hear her little brother groaning and pulling the covers up higher. Enhanced hearing had its benefits, after all.
She knocked again, wincing as the sound bounced off the walls. (Ok, maybe not.) "Anton, dude, you've gotta get up. Wach auf, Kind. You're gonna be late."
A high-pitched whine and no movement. Normally she'd be just plain frustrated, but today Ivy felt a surge of jealousy that she couldn't be the one under the covers. But noooo, she had to be responsible today, because if she wasn't –
New tactic. She crossed her arms and leaned back against the door, mentally preparing herself for the pain in her throat. "All right, you asked for it." She dramatically cleared her throat, grinning to herself.
"Waaaaach auf, wach auf du deutsches Kind! Du hast genug geschlaaaaafen!"
"Nein!" Anton yelled from within. "Nein no no nein NO!"
„Drum magst du wohl aufaaaachen!"
Ivy was many things, but a singer was not one of them. Anton burst through the door, full of six-year-old fury. He stamped to the kitchen for his Muesli and Ivy cut off the song, grinning despite the renewed pain in her throat.
It was easy enough from there – pretend to run a brush through his hair, shove some snacks in his backpack, help him tie his shoes. (Only after he insisted on trying it himself half a dozen times, naturlich.) But the moment her little brother walked out the door, waving once before sprinting down the road to Kindergarten, her symptoms came back in full force. The distraction was over.
Ok, fine, a bit more sleep. Ivy checked the locks and trudged upstairs, swallowing down what was (hopefully) the correct dosage before flopping back into bed.
This wasn't too bad, she thought. Her classmates were off learning calculus or whatever, and she got to (had to) stay home, instead of learning or studying or seeing her friends or –
She rolled over and yanked the covers up over her head.
xxxxxxxxxxx
Ivy woke up - or, at least thought she did. The room was pitch black, her mouth was dry, and her heart still pounded from whatever strange fever dream she'd had. She was under every blanket she could find but her teeth still chattered. She rolled onto her stomach and fought to breathe, trying to piece together where reality and the dream world were separate.
Her principal reading aloud the contents of a letter, exposing her for being connected to Halloween? Ok, not real, but almost -
Being recruited for some strange interdimensional team that wore bright pink? Definitely not real.
Both her ears totally blocked? Real.
Jack talking to her? Not real.
"Are you there or not?"
Wait, what?
Jack's voice following her out of her dream and into the (presumable) waking world cleared away the exhaustion, but not the delirium. She considered, briefly, sitting up. The thought of dealing with whatever auditory hallucination this was and moving was way too much.
"Jack?" She whispered, holding perfectly still and unsure of what response she wanted.
"Ah, you are there! Why are you in the dark? Why do you sound like that?"
Questions. Too many questions. Ivy reached out a hand and fumbled for her Rollladen strap, yanking the blinds up and burying her face into the bed as the sunlight shot into her cave of a room.
"My, that is quite bri- ah. Um. Am I interrupting something?"
The human counted to five before turning her head, grateful that Jack's lanky ass frame wasn't really in her room. Instead, his voice (and image) came from a small mirror hanging on her wall. Jack looked puzzled; his head tilted in its usual cat-like fashion. Ivy considered flipping him off before deciding it was too much effort.
Oh, he had asked something, hadn't he.
"Yes." She grouched, pulling the covers up higher under her chin. "Go away."
Because he couldn't take a hint to save his life, Jack only clicked his teeth at her. "Come now, I thought you're only supposed to be nocturnal in Halloween! It's midday, my girl, let's go!"
Ivy inhaled deeply to start arguing, but at that moment her throat gave a warning tickle before she launched into an eye-watering coughing fit. She clawed her way upright, leaning against the back wall and tried to breathe it out. God, weren't you supposed to feel better after resting?
She fumbled for her water bottle and downed the rest until the cough finally eased. Head pounding, she turned to glare through bloodshot eyes at Jack, who had the decency to look at least slightly sheepish.
"Human ailment, I suppose?" He offered weakly. This time, Ivy managed to find the energy and flipped the skeleton off, sniffing as she did so.
"If you want me to look at new Halloween decorations again, I'm throwing something at you," she said through the phlegm in her throat, waving the empty bottle warningly. "I'm so serious, Jack."
Jack frowned. "You sound awful."
"Gee, thanks."
"Do you need anything?"
Ivy sighed, looking around her room. She had meds. She had water. She even had a bucket in case things got worse. Realistically, she had everything she needed.
But it wasn't everything she wanted. A memory flashed by of her dad cutting toast into strips, of her mom making lavender tea with an amount of honey that would be way too much normally but somehow felt perfect. And sure, she could get up and hobble to the kitchen and get those things, but it wouldn't be – it wouldn't be the same.
For a moment, she let herself imagine Jack's no doubt cool hands on her face but dismissed it immediately. Jack had better things to do, especially this close to Halloween.
"I'm ok, Jack," she said, shrugging. Her chest was hurting, her voice raspy, and all she wanted to do was curl up and sleep (maybe after a good cry). "I'll just sleep some more until Anton gets home."
She wasn't looking at him, but Ivy could tell he was squinting his eye sockets at her, trying to see how far he should press.
"Are you parents there?"
"Nah, but it's fine. They'll probably be back tomorrow."
Another long silence. Ivy drank more water and fiddled with the top of her bedsheet, already feeling herself slip into a doze.
"Alright," Jack finally said, though she could hear the doubt in his voice plain as day. "I'd come in there properly to check but – "
"The Rules – "
"Yes, those Rules. But if you need anything – anything at all – you find the nearest Gateway and come to me, alright?"
"Yeah, yeah." She waved her hand, flopping back down and tucking herself in haphazardly, stubbornly ignoring the sweat on her sheets. The mirror went fuzzy, and Jack's face vanished.
Yes. Leave off with the pesky, cranky, sickly human and dive back into Halloween prep. Ivy held the water bottle close to her chest, a faux comfort item. She'd be fine, she decided as she closed her eyes. Maybe just a bit more sleep…
The next thing in her awareness was the sound of rain absolutely slamming into her window. Her limbs seemed to be filled with wet sand, and even blinking felt way too exhausting. She winced from the grey light coming in through the window, squinted eyes tracking a stray raindrop before she slid her eyes closed again.
Her mouth was dry, but the bottle in her loose grasp was empty. She couldn't have been asleep long – there were still hours to go before Anton would be home, when the house wouldn't feel quite so empty.
God. Even if they couldn't do anything, she wanted her parents. The fever made her vision watery as she thought about it. Would they even be willing to look after her like they had when she was little? Or was that only for the daughter she'd been before?
How did anybody do this, getting sick all alone?
Teeth chattering, she stumbled out of bed and shoved her feet into her Hausschuhe, yanking her robe on for good measure. It did absolutely nothing – the chills were coming from within, despite the sweat on her back. She sneezed and gripped the banister, making her way downstairs. She needed another dose of medicine and some honey, jezt.
The process felt far more tedious than usual. Get the kettle. Find a clean mug. Try not to pass out while she waited, swaying from side to side on the cold kitchen floor. She blinked at the kitchen clock, the hand doubling before her eyes. She rested her forehead against the cabinet door, breathing through her mouth. It made her chapped lips worse.
"Yeesh, kid, you look like a walking corpse. And believe me, I've seen way too many of those things."
As it turned out, Ivy's normal senses weren't the only things dulled. Her Halloween instincts, buried deep within her and hibernating, suddenly leapt to life at the sound of the voice. Adrenaline reluctantly flooded her body as she grabbed the handle of the saucepan (thankfully not yet filled with water) and swung.
"HEY! Watch where you're swinging that – uh…"
Oh, hell, that had been a mistake. Ivy didn't bother to feel relieved, crouching down and coughing as the adrenaline seeped from her body. Dizzy now, very dizzy, world spinning very very fast -
"Ah, shit." Marvel – because who else would it goddamn be – seemed to shuffle next to her as she sat (collapsed) on the floor before one invisible hand patted her back. "There ya go, kid, crunchy cough it out."
"I – hate – you," Ivy wheezed. She jabbed the handle of the saucepan into the invisible man's side, too tired to properly appreciate his small yelp of pain.
"Yeah, sure ya do. You gonna get up?"
"No."
"Eh, fair." She heard the slap of skin on linoleum (ew) as Marvel sat down next to her, one naked shoulder bumping hers.
"Ok, so what are you – "
"Jack sent me to check on you," Marvel replied almost lazily. If he was visible, Ivy was sure she'd see him stretched out across her floor. "Wouldn't shut up about it either, so you'll forgive me for seeking some peace."
Ivy sniffed and leaned back fully against the cabinets. The thought was… well, ok, it was a little comforting, but not without a slight burn of humiliation. "Look, I know I'm, like, centuries younger than you guys, but I'm not a little kid." She glared at Marvel, hoping her anger made up for her less than impressive appearance. "I'm not gonna drop dead from a cold; I can take care of myself just fine."
"First of all, you're only a few decades younger than me, so don't go aging me more. Second, no shit you can take care of yourself; you've been doing that for months. But that doesn't mean you have to."
She wanted to argue, really she did, but that took energy, energy she just didn't have. So she crossed her arms instead, fighting back against the frustration in her throat.
Neither of them moved for a long moment. Marvel, for once, was keeping his mouth shut, seemingly content to play with a rubber band left on the kitchen floor. Lazily, she tracked it with her eyes.
"So you're feeling like - "
"Shut up." Her lips were dry and cracked. The kitchen was dark, the rain outside casting a soothing pattern against the glass. She couldn't quite focus her eyes get her night vision to kick in, leaving the edges of her awareness blurry and soft. The whole world seemed to match the image outside her window: smeared and unfocused and very, very distant. "C'n…my meds, on the – they're on the counter, can you toss 'em down?"
"That's Jack's job, kid, not mine. I'm not doing this for you."
"Bullshit," she whispered drowsily.
"That's – whatever. Not arguing with you. We're going to – you know, let's get horizontal, ok?"
"Hmm?"
She thought she heard Marvel huff, though the sound didn't seem as annoyed as she'd expected. "Ok, that's enough of that. Don't pass out on me."
"Jack," she whispered. Nausea suddenly struck her stomach.
"Uh, nope, wrong monster. Marvel, remember? Your favorite invisible pal?"
"No." God, she was tired. Who filled her limbs with wet sand? "Jack…can Jack…"
"Look, if I try and punt you through a Gateway right now, you're gonna dissolve. You get that? Rupture, scatter across the cosmos, all of that. No Halloween trip this time, kiddo."
Ivy's breath came a little faster. "Jack – I – Jack – "
"I'm not - are you gonna hurl? Oh, damn, don't do that. Ok, look, c'mon, let's get you off the – "
"An – Anton –"
"Covered." There was the sound of fingers snapping together, somehow close and far away at the same time. "Look at – kid, look at me."
"How'm…how am I supposed to – "
"Ok, fine, you know that - that one's on me. When do your parents get home?"
"Weiß nicht." Whispering was a lot harder when you were trying not to cry. "I don't - I don't know what – time is it? When is… I don't know…"
"Shit. Don't go – do not cry on me, you little -"
She couldn't even retort. Her throat hurt so bad. Everything hurt.
"Son of a…alright, alright, listen to me."
He was really close, Ivy noted distantly. Normally the thought would freak her out, but right now, with the world as fuzzy as it was, she couldn't find the energy to care.
"Close your eyes, kid."
Well, that wasn't a hard request.
"Great. Good. Alright, now, just focus on not passing out, alright? Keep those eyes shut. Don't want you yakin' up everything you've got." He heaved her to her feet, and Ivy's knees buckled.
She didn't know what happened next – maybe she passed out, maybe she just blocked the memory of whatever strange travel she'd made, but the next thing to come to her awareness was the familiar press of bone against her cheek. There was a low voice speaking to her, tinged with amusement, but she couldn't understand a word of it. All the same, she fought to turn her head towards the hand, a shiver running down her spine as the laugh she got in response, steady and deep.
Blinking her eyes open – or at least, half-open – gave her the sight she was expecting. There was Jack: still fuzzy in her squinted eyesight, but there all the same, his black jacket off and white sleeves rolled up. He didn't seem surprised to see her stirring, but he patted her cheek all the same.
"I'll wait to say, 'I told you so' until you're a bit better," Jack teased, in almost a whisper. "So focus on curing that human ailment of yours, alright?"
"M'not sick," she said, closing her eyes all the same to avoid Jack's grin. "J's tired."
"If you say so. Now go back to sleep."
"N'pe."
She didn't hear his response, already dead to the world once more.
XXXXX
Time was pretty irrelevant, Ivy thought. Her watch wasn't on her wrist, but she didn't think she could read the tiny numbers anyway. The room was dark every time she opened her eyes from naps that felt like they stretched on forever but took no time at all. Even with her ears blocked, she could hear one familiar sound: Jack's bones creaking as he sat next to her or walked over the floorboards, Jack humming to himself, Jack whispering something to her. She should listen, she knew she should, but all she could do was snatch snippets before sinking back into the soft surface beneath her.
"Alright, my girl. Ready for some water?"
"Easy, easy now. You're safe."
"It's over, love. I promise. You're not there anymore."
"Please don't cry."
She'd been crying? God, her head hurt.
When she could focus enough to hold her eyes open for more than a few seconds, Ivy's sweaty brow furrowed in confusion. Instead of the candlelit rooms of Skellington Manor, with scratchy blankets and the sound of screams in the background, she was facing her rather plain kitchen. Strewn across the sofa, with several (too soft) blankets piled on her, Ivy took in the sight of the empty room. A single light was on, the dishes from Anton's breakfast still piled high, and a clock ticked comfortingly in the distance.
The loneliness crashed harder than she could've ever expected. A pain seized her chest, her breathing becoming shallow. Had she imagined all of it? Was she really so much of a baby, so pathetic that she'd thought up Jack being there? Did she really want to be back in Halloween so bad that she'd hallucinated him?
"Not a single bit of elderflower or yarrow anywhere," came an annoyed grumble from the next room. "Honestly, humans, you'd think you'd – Ivy?"
What. What. Ivy stared, her breathing picking up in pace as she stared at the impossible sight.
Because – Jack? Jack was here? The image before her made no sense, no matter how long she looked. Jack was standing there, slightly hunched over to not hit her ceiling. He had a collection of loose tea leaves in his hand and a disgruntled look on his face that melted instantly upon seeing her. And that was – it was a welcome sight, sure, but it was still Jack who was here, looking so odd next to the microwave and picture of her family and he was in her house –
"Ivy? What's wrong?" Jack came closer, freezing when Ivy scrambled back, pressing herself against the couch. Her eyes were wide and glassy, and she was gripping the armrest with impressive strength for her state. He set the tea onto a side table and held his hands up, slowly crouching and approaching once more. She didn't move, eyes tracking his motions and he knelt in front of her, putting them at eye level. Her breaths were ragged, and she wasn't quite looking at him anymore – she almost seemed to be staring through him, to something that wasn't there.
"Ivy, can you take a breath for – "
"Are you here?" Ivy whispered, voice small and cracked. "Like – really here."
Jack frowned. "Of course, love. Why would - "
"Please don't lie to me," she begged. Her eyes were shiny, not just from fever but the tears he could see forming. She still wasn't looking at him, her hands shaking. "I can't, I don't know what's – don't lie, are you here, please – "
He took her hand (ignoring the way she flinched) and guided it to the top of his ribcage, then clasping her other in both of his own. "I'm here, Ivy. I promise. It's just you and me right now, alright?"
"I think I'm seeing stuff," Ivy whispered, still as a statue. Her hands twitched. "You're – how are you here? I thought the Rules – "
Jack couldn't help but snort at that. "I'm the one who set the spell, you don't think I can amend it?"
"But – but I told you I was – "
"And you think I'd just believe that and let you go on your way?" Jack tsk'd at her, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. "Even if I didn't have my own concerns, Marvel running into the Manor like the Town was on fire told me all I needed to know."
"Marv…he was…so he was here too? I wasn't – "
"He was here," Jack assured her, not liking the way her voice shook in the slightest. "You're not going crazy, I promise. No more than any of the rest of us, anyway." She swallowed at that, eyes still darting around as though she were in a crowded room. "Can you look at me?" He slid in some of his persuasive charm, just light enough to calm, and waited patiently as her eyes finally met his sockets. She gasped and shuddered, blinking furiously. "That's it, Ivy. Can you see me?"
"I – yeah."
"Can you see just me?"
She shuddered again, and Jack watched curiously as the gooseflesh traveled up her arms. She closed her eyes and shook her head forcefully, as though attempting to knock something loose. Jack tapped out a mindless pattern on the back of her too-warm hand, waiting. Finally, she opened her eyes once more and bit her lip, staring at him.
"Alright, now – Oh!"
Ivy's grasp on his lapel tightened and she fell forward, giving a rather clumsy but forceful hug. She shook in his thin arms as he hastened to return it, keeping her steady as she shook off the last of her confusion.
"Jack?"
"There's my girl," he said with a smile. "Are you with me?"
She nodded against him but made no move to get up. It couldn't be comfortable, slumped over the way she was, but she didn't seem to mind. Jack eyed a nearby candle and urged it to light, letting the warm flame slowly bathe the room in a soft glow. Another mental nudge and the switch on the wall flipped down, plunging the two into a more familiar darkness. Slowly, gradually, Ivy's breathing slowed as she calmed down. Carefully, Jack gathered her thin hair and peeled it away from her skin, feeling the heat where her face was pressed against his chest. He gently laid his cold bone hand against the burning skin of her neck, feeling her sigh in relief.
"Oh, dude, that feels awesome."
Now that sounded more like his human. "I'd imagine," Jack answered. "That fever feels terrible, if I do say so myself. How do you go about living with no treatments for it?"
He could feel her lips turn into a frown. "What do you mean?"
"You've no medical plants in this house! Where is your supply, eh? Have you any yarrow I can use, or is every human determined to stubborn their way through illness like you?"
"We don't use that, Bone Boy," came the muffled response. "If you'd grabbed me the Tylenol, that would've been fine."
"…the Tylo-what?"
"Human medicine," she said, still slumped against him. "For dumb sick humans like me."
Jack urged her up, gently taking her chin in his hand. Her face was pale aside from the red splotches on her cheeks, the skin creased where she'd been laying on the couch. Her hair was an absolute mess. "Listen here," he said sternly, "it's not your fault for being sick – I presume, anyway. You are fragile, yes, very. However – "
"But Jack – "
"It was 'dumb' to not ask for help." He knew she still wasn't in the state to accept advice – if she ever was – but a sense of duty moved him to speak. "If I ask you if you need help, I expect an honest answer."
The human squirmed, trying to get out of his grip, but Jack held fast. "But…we're pretty close to Halloween, Jack, don't you have – "
"Oh, ye human of little faith." Jack sighed and tapped her nose. "We have been running Halloween for centuries, my girl, my absence of a few hours won't derail things."
In fact, a dark voice in his head whispered, it runs too smoothly, doesn't it? No need for a Pumpkin King when things are the same as they were before and before and before and –
"Still feels stupid," Ivy muttered, oblivious to the skeleton's thoughts. "Sixteen and I can't even – wait, did you say a few hours? Anton – "
"Your brother is fine," Jack said patiently, keeping his hold on the human that attempted to launch off the couch. "He's asleep now, upstairs. As you should be, young lady."
"No way." She shook her head rapidly. "I can't, it's – no, Jack."
"I'm getting déjà vu from this conversation, love."
She attempted to glare at him, smacking his hands. "When you regain the ability to have freaky fever dreams, then you can tell me not to go back to sleep."
He dipped his head. "Very well. Tell me where to fetch your strange human medicine and we'll see about getting you on the mend, hmm?"
He rose to go, ready for her instructions, when her hand shot out and grabbed his sleeve. They both stared at her grasp, Ivy looking as startled as he. "Yes?" He asked.
"Sorry." She let go, clearly reluctant, and pulled her hand back to her chest. "Sorry, I didn't mean to – sorry."
"It's…it's alright," he said, tilting his head at her. Something was off here, something beyond his understanding, and Jack's curiosity demanded he get to the bottom of it. "What is it?"
"Nothing, Jack, medicine is upstairs in the – "
"Tell me."
Slightly more power now, but Jack couldn't feel regretful. He waited, arms crossed, until she finally mumbled an answer.
"It's just…I know you're here, or – I'm as sure as I'm gonna get, anyway. But I don't want to…I don't know, forget that when you leave." She shrugged, forcefully casual, as if her words didn't make Jack's ribs ache.
"Come now," he said, trying to grin. "You've seen me, you've heard me, you've touched me. That feels real, doesn't it?"
Ivy wasn't looking at him again, her eyes fixated on some faraway point. "I dunno," she whispered. "There's a lot of stuff that feels real that…can't be."
Warning bells went up in Jack's mind. He crouched back down, trying to get back into Ivy's eyeline. "What do you mean?"
She shook her head.
"Ivy, tell me, what do you mean?"
It was the most power he'd used yet, but this time there was no effect. He watched, almost angry, as she closed herself off, an eerie blankness falling over her face. Ivy, for better or worse, wore every expression and feeling openly, even when she tried to mask them. To see her fully retreat inside herself, as though her soul slipped from her body, was a sight that sent a chill up Jack's spine. It was pointless; the human wouldn't say any more on the matter. Despite his question, Jack wasn't sure if he wanted her to.
Before she went too far from him, Jack leaned forward and scooped the human up, standing and holding her on his hip. It took a few moments, but Ivy shook off some of her stupor, blinking at him in confusion. "Uh, Jack? What're – "
"Easiest way for me not to vanish," Jack said breezily. "Or, if I do, we'll vanish together. Now. Which way to your cures?"
Ivy laughed for the first time since he'd arrived. It was husky and weak, but sweet all the same.
With Ivy's whispered directions, Jack navigated his way to the second floor of the Kunze residence. The hallway was dark, and Ivy insisted on peeking into Anton's door, just to be sure. Together, they watched the small human boy breathe, his fingers loosely curled around a stuffed giraffe. From there, he set her on the counter in her parents' bath, where she popped two bright red capsules into her mouth from an obnoxiously colored bottle. Jack wasn't sure what help the two pieces could be, smaller even than candy, but Ivy seemed certain they'd help. No matter: he'd take a placebo effect if it would help.
Back downstairs, he lit the kettle (thankfully their stove was one he could understand) as Ivy re-tucked herself into the blankets, swapping out the ones too sweaty for use. Her eyelids were almost beginning to drop when he returned with a new hot cup of tea and honey, with a few of his own Halloween editions crushed at the bottom. She may have trusted the capsules, but Jack knew a few of his own supplies wouldn't hurt. He sat next to her on the couch, marveling at the lack of rips and stains as she sipped. It didn't take long for her to worm her way under his arm, leaning into his ribs and sighing in deep contentment. With practiced hands, he dragged his fingers over her scalp, the repetitive motion soothing them both.
"y'r good at this," Ivy slurred. Her eyes kept dropping shut before she'd fight to open them again, with a determination that dared him to ask her to sleep. Jack didn't bother, knowing a bit of patience would give him what he wanted. Ah, teenagers.
"Well, I have had some practice," he teased.
"Yeah." She repositioned herself, trying to press even closer. Jack kept his arm tight, hoping his touch could say what words couldn't. "Did James ever get sick like this?"
Jack's fingers stilled. He hadn't meant his son from long ago, thinking more of Ivy's coma in Halloween, but the memories demanded his attention all the same. Reluctantly, he let himself comb through them. It was always hard, their clarity lost to the centuries, but the more time he spent around Ivy, the easier it became to remember his other child.
"A few times, yes." Jack smoothed a hand down her back, staring into the candle flame. "He had smallpox, as a boy. He shook for weeks." Jack could see hands replacing cold cloths on James' head, the boy's features blurred. "When that rash appeared, I thought for sure it was the end of him, but within two days he was nearly better. We were lucky, I think."
"Jeez." Ivy sighed, one hand coming up to clutch Jack's sleeve again. He pretended not to notice, smiling to himself when this made her secure her grip. "Smallpox sounds way worse than this."
"Suffering is suffering," Jack chided mildly. "It makes no difference to the illness if that of another is better or worse."
"Hmm." Her eyes were closed, but he could tell she was still awake. "Can you tell me more about him? About James?"
"I…I don't remember much."
"S'ok," she mumbled. "You always rememb'r the important stuff."
It didn't feel that way to Jack, but he wouldn't deny her this. And so, he dove back into his treasured, limited memories: the day his son first learned to walk, the time he'd caught a frog and accidentally released it into the house, the pride on his face when he'd first held his own child. His voice returned to its low, smooth monotone as he traveled through distant, misty memories. He slipped into Irish at one point, hypnotized by familiar way the words formed, but Ivy stiffening under him caused him to switch once more. He settled on Latin until the tension seeped from her body. He talked until his own throat grew dry, until he'd gone over everything he could recall, until his ribs hurt. James was long since gone from every plane, but in moments like these, he almost seemed to return to life. A perfect ghost to haunt Jack's memories, a beautiful, welcome pain.
Perhaps she'd been right. He may not remember the details, but he remembered, all these centuries later, that he loved his son. And that, to Jack, was the most precious and important memory of all.
The house was dark, the candle flame low. Jack could sense the dawn approaching. It was still a way off - perhaps another hour – but he could feel the tug to return to Halloween all the same. He didn't know where the two Kunze parents were, but he wasn't willing to risk running into them. Moving for the first time in hours, he glanced down at the human sprawled against him. Only the tip of her nose was visible, the rest of her buried beneath the blankets. She was breathing through her mouth, lips chapped, but when Jack brushed the tips of his fingers over her forehead there was no more fever. He moved slightly, ready for the next step, only to find that she was still gripping his sleeve, face tight with worry.
The faraway look she'd had, the fear of the imagined becoming real – it dug itself into Jack's mind, burrowing in the space where his worry for the human lived. (Every day, he swore, it seemed to grow.) He wished he could dig a hand into her mind and pull whatever worries plaguing her away. Instead, all he could do was crouch down and slowly extract Ivy's hand from his sleeve, gently patting at her soft skin.
"Sorry, love," he whispered. "I have to go now."
The human gave no response. He didn't want to leave her there, comfortable though she now looked. In fact, he wanted nothing more than to scoop up the unconscious human and step sideways through reality to Halloween. But one look at her still-fragile form banished the idea from his skull. Her Gateway traveling abilities were shaky at her best – he didn't want to imagine what it would be like to pull her comatose self through.
And so he brushed his hand over her hair one final time, taking care it was tucked away from her face. Water was close by, there were plenty of blankets, and she'd even brought the bottle of strange capsules with her, so she could have her next dose. All was right – or at least, as right as it could be.
"T'nks, Dad," Ivy mumbled as his hand lifted away.
Anytime, Love.

Words: 2,193 Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Reader Reader pronouns: she/her Era: the prison Warnings: none really Summary: Y/N falls ill and Daryl goes to make sure she's okay, only to discover her cell is empty. A/N: Just a short and sweet fic! For all you fellow migraine suffers out there! Requested by: @winchestershiresauce and anon!
Your name: submit What is this?
“Gettin’ real sick of staring at these ugly fuckers,” Daryl said, smashing the end of the metal rod in his hand through the chainlink fence and into the brain of a particularly loud walker. He watched carelessly as it crumpled to the ground and was immediately replaced by another.  “Yeah, well—” you jabbed the crowbar in your hand into the temple of the seemingly endless infected clamoring at the fence, “someone has to do it.” You paused for a moment as your head suddenly swam. Daryl immediately noticed.  “What? Ya alright?” He thought maybe you looked a little pale all of a sudden, which was strange considering the sweltering heat and humidity. He was sure he was red-faced and he knew he was soaked with sweat.
You squeezed your eyes shut for a moment and shook your head. “It’s nothing. I’m good.” You resumed your thankless and grim task, picking out another infected dead one to put down. You felt Daryl’s eyes on you for a moment longer before he turned back to the fence. You wiped the sweat from your brow with the back of your hand and pushed on, but it was only a few more minutes when you felt your vision start to change and the familiar stabbing pain began to grow behind your eyes. Daryl watched as the crowbar dropped to your side and you froze again, squeezing your eyes shut, a grimace wrinkling your brow. “Hey—s’goin’ on? And don’t feed me some bullshit about how you’re fine,” he drawled. He watched your fist clench around the iron crowbar. “Just—just a little too much sun probably. I’m just gonna go get some water and shade for a bit. I’m fine. Really,” you said, opening your eyes again and turning to look at him. His eyes were narrowed as he peered back at you, concern obvious on his face. “I’ll walk ya up—” “No. No, Daryl, I’m fine,” you reassured him, forcing out a light laugh. “Just keep at it down here. I’ll see if Glenn or Maggie can come down. There’s too many walkers. We need to cut this herd down or we’ll lose the fence,” you said, already walking backwards toward the gate. “I’m fine,” you tossed out one more time, forcing a smile that you knew wasn’t entirely natural. He watched you turn and let yourself through the gate, taking the alleyway between the fences back up toward the prison. Hopefully you just needed to rest a little while... He continued to work on thinning the herd for a while but found himself distracted. Neither Maggie nor Glenn came down to help and it was possible they were just busy, but he found himself fixating on an intrusive thought that you’d collapsed somewhere of heat exhaustion on your way back to the cell block. He finally decided to take a break himself and make sure you were alright. He could see if anyone else was available to help on the fence too. The archer didn’t find you anywhere on his way back inside, collapsed or otherwise. He breezed into the cell block, stalking past Beth who had Judith in her arms. He slowed as he neared the cell you’d claimed and was surprised to see that it was empty. He spun on his heel and headed right back out toward Beth. “Hey. Ya seen Y/N come in here?” “She came through a little while ago, but she left again,” Beth said. “But ya did see her?” Daryl asked again. Beth nodded. “Yeah. I saw her. Why? What’s goin’ on?” She saw worry in the archer’s expression. “Any idea where she went?” Beth shook her head. “No. Daryl, what’s goin’ on?” “Nah, nothin’. She just—she was out on the fence with me and said she wasn’t feelin’ well. I just wanted to make sure she was alright. I was thinkin’ I’d find her in bed but she ain’t there.” “Oh,” Beth said. There was something like a realization on her face and Daryl paused. “What?” “Nothin’,” Beth said again, averting her eyes back toward Judith.  “Ya ain’t a good liar,” he said, a little annoyed that she obviously knew something she wasn’t saying. “C’mon. Spit it out,” he said, flicking his fingers at her. Beth looked up at him again and still seemed unsure. “It’s just—she doesn’t really want anyone to know...” “Know what?” he pressed. Beth looked hesitant, but the look on Daryl’s face convinced her to spill it. “Sometimes—she—she gets migraines. They can make her real sick,” Beth said, bouncing Judith on her hip. “Only reason I know is because I saw her leavin’ with her pillow one time real early in the mornin’ when I was up helpin’ with Judith.” “Leavin’? Leavin’ to where?” “She needs it dark and quiet... so I think she goes to one of the other cell blocks,” Beth said. “But she really told me not to say anythin’.“ Daryl stood stunned for a moment. “One of the other cellblocks?” Beth nodded. “Ya mean with those bloodstains and shit all over the place?” Beth shrugged. “I told her no one would care but she insisted I didn’t tell anyone anythin’.” Before Beth could ask him not to let you know that he knew, his broad shoulders were already disappearing back out the door. Daryl checked two cell blocks before he heard the sound of you being sick. He pushed through the cellblock gate, which creaked lazily on its hinges, and found you huddled over a bucket. You rinsed your mouth out with water and didn’t notice him standing in the cell doorway until you had sunk heavily back down on the edge of the mattress. You startled a little and Daryl watched your expression and body language just sag.
“Great...” you muttered. “Did Beth rat me out?” you asked, sliding further back onto the bed and wiping a shaky hand across your clammy forehead. “On a scale of 1 to 10, how disgusting do I look right now?” you asked, leaning your head back against the wall behind you and shutting your eyes. Daryl was just about the last person you wanted to see you like this. He watched a flash of pain flit across your face. “‘bout a 5,” he drawled, stepping into the cell. You cracked one eye open to take in his expression and saw that although one corner of his mouth was quirked slightly upwards at his joke, he mainly looked concerned. You closed your eyes again as the light coming in the high cellblock windows made your head throb.
“I’ll be okay. I just need—if I can get to sleep, sometimes that stops it...” You pinched the bridge of your nose, feeling the thudding of your pulse beneath your fingers. “Sometimes?” Daryl repeated. You didn’t respond and he moved farther into the cell until he was standing at the side of the bunk. “I thought it was yer head. How come ya got sick?” he asked. You took in a deep breath and tried to let it out steadily. “If the pain’s too intense sometimes it can make me nauseous.” Oof. Talking was not helpful. “Mmm.” You shook your head. “Can’t talk.”  “Hmm...” Daryl considered you for a moment. “Scooch. And lie down.” You looked up at him, surprised, through bleary eyes, the aura of your migraine distorting your vision uncomfortably. “What?” “Ya heard me,” he said, his tone soft. You obeyed and shifted closer to the wall, settling down on your side. Daryl squeezed himself in beside you, sitting up with his back against the wall, legs crossed at the ankle.  Your eyes were closed, but he still saw your expression tighten as waves of pain crested and fell. “What can I do?” he drawled quietly.  You shook your head. “Just—nothing...” you murmured, feeling a hot wash of shame spread over you. The next moment your eyes shot open as you felt Daryl’s fingers running over your hair, following a strand gently, brushing lightly over you. You peered up at him in surprise and he immediately pulled his bottom lip in between his teeth and chewed it anxiously. His fingers left you for a moment. “Uhh—s’that... help?” he asked, his hand hovering above you. You nodded and closed your eyes again, just in time that you didn’t see how red Daryl’s cheeks and ears suddenly were. “Actually, yeah. That helps...” you sighed. His fingers landed in your hair again and resumed their gentle movements. He watched your breathing slow and deepen, and you seemed to sink more heavily into your pillow. Once you were asleep, Daryl carefully slipped from the cell and returned with a blanket for you, covering you over gently. He debated about heading back to the main cellblock, but the idea of leaving you there alone bothered him. Ya shouldn’t be in a fucking prison to start with, but alone in that cellblock that still held signs of unspeakable horrors? That was out of the question. So, instead, he slipped back onto the edge of the bunk, setting his back to the wall again, and settled in next to you. Maybe it was the hard work out on the fence earlier, but he was soon asleep too. When you woke up many hours later, you were surprised to see Daryl beside you asleep. his head nodded down toward his chest. He’d stayed there next to you? That whole time? He woke as you stirred a little, leaning up on an elbow and peering up at him, rubbing your eyes with your free hand.  “Hey,” he said, feeling suddenly awkward and climbing off the bunk and onto his feet. “How ya feelin’?” You nodded. “Better. Thanks. Just... a bit hungover,” you said wearily. The sharpness of your migraine had faded to a fuzzy kind of ache, and your whole body felt fatigued. “Hungover without the fun of gettin’ lit in the first place? That’s some serious bullshit,” he drawled, leaning back against the wall behind him, arms crossed over his broad chest. “Yeah, tell me about it,” you said, swinging your legs over to sit on the edge of the bed, the blanket falling from over you to land in a soft pile. “Thanks...” you murmured again, feeling that creeping wave of shame rising in you again. Daryl must have sensed it because you could feel his blue eyes on you, studying you, and you glanced up at him. “Why didn’t ya tell me?” he asked. “I mean, why hide it?” He looked around the empty cellblock and his eyes landed on the bloodstains on the floor outside the cell you were in and the piles of trash nearby. “This ain’t where ya should be when yer sick. Ya should be back where—where we can take care of ya...” He’d almost said “I” instead of we, and he felt his heart start pounding.  You hung your head and stared down at your hands. “I don’t want to be a burden...” you said quietly. “It’s better if I just deal with it. Alone.” Daryl scoffed and you glanced up at him. “Tha’s stupid. Ya ain’t alone. Ya got a family. And ya ain’t a burden cuz ya get sick. Ain’t yer fault. Can’t control it. Ya didn’t choose it. It’s the shit hand ya been dealt.” You shrugged and peered down at your hands again, anxious. “This why ya had to back outta that run the other week at the last minute? And—that time when we were out tryin’ to track that horse?” Your jaw clenched and you nodded. “Usually I know when they’re coming on. Sometimes I have more warning and sometimes hardly any at all... Before the world went to shit I had a couple medications that really helped, but—can’t exactly walk into a pharmacy now and fill a prescription,” you said wryly. “It’s fine. I manage them. But... I know it makes me weaker...” “Weaker? Nah. That ain’t true. If anythin’ it makes ya stronger cuz ya gotta deal with that pain.” You shook your head. “No. What if I’m out there and one hits me? That’s a weakness, Daryl. It’s dangerous.” “Mmm,” Daryl hummed, chewing on his bottom lip. He seemed to make some decision at that moment and straightened up. “Look. From now on? If yer gettin’ sick, ya just tell me, alright? No matter where we are, I’ll always make sure yer safe. If we’re outside the fence, we’ll find someplace to hole up. If we’re in here, I’ll make sure ya get to bed and that everyone keeps fuckin’ quiet so you can rest—well, ‘cept Lil Asskicker, but can’t do nothin’ about that,” he drawled.  You managed a half smile. “Daryl, you don’t have to—” “I know I ain’t gotta, but that’s how it’s gonna be. Like I said, yer not alone.”  You were a little overwhelmed at the moment and you felt a bubble of emotion forming in your chest. You cleared your throat and tried to gather yourself for a moment before you looked back up at him. You knew there was no point in arguing. “You’re the boss,” you said, when you finally met his blue eyes. He rolled his eyes at you in response.  “Alrigh’, we both know that ain’t true... C’mon. Let’s get ya somethin’ to eat,” he said, tilting his head in the direction of the cell door.  You smiled and took in his broad shoulders and strong arms, feeling another rush of heat in your chest. The softness inside that badass warrior always melted you and you had readily come to the realization that he was simply your favorite person in the world. And soon you planned to tell him so.

Tumblr media
The big metal door swung open and then closed, the loud noise startling you. You weren’t actually sure if the door was metal since you couldn’t see but it sure sounded like it. A pair of heavy boots walked on the concrete floor. That you were sure of, you had felt the cold and wet concrete floor yourself. You shook out of coldness in the room. The cold shackles on your wrists and ankles kept you from moving along with making sure you got deep cuts on your skin from the edges. You had no idea how long you had been gone. You just knew you were starving. You heard the same broken water pipe dropping droplets of water on the floor, forming a puddle. The larger the puddle got, the deeper the sound was. You had momentarily considered drinking from the puddle, but decided against it once you deducted that you couldn’t reach it.
The man with the heavy boots walked around the room, his steps echoing throughout the room. The sounds from his steps echoed in the room, bouncing off the walls. They had blindfolded you, at least that was what you thought. The chains on your arms weren’t long enough for you to touch the blindfold but you could still feel the soft material wrapped around your head, covering your eyes.
A chair was dragged across the floor, a screeching sound now echoing in the room. The man sat down on the chair. ”Y/n now was it?” He asked. You heard as he pulled something out of his pocket. A lighter. Suddenly the room smelt of cigarettes. He was smoking. His mouth made wet noises as he sucked on it. The ashes made the quietest sound when they fell on the floor beneath him. You didn’t answer his question, trying to pay attention to every sound in the room and possibly outside of it. The direction of the wind changed. You felt it as the wind grazed upon your exposed upper arms. ”Your dad is not paying the ransom money,” the man said. His voice was rough, raspy even. He had no foreign accent so he wasn’t hydra. He sounded slightly surprised, like he tried to make conversation with you about the fact.
You listened as the man shifted in his chair, clearly uncomfortable in the position he had chosen for himself. ”You probably have no idea how long you’ve been here,” the man suddenly said. That he was right about. ”Three days. Three days without food or water. That does something to a person,” he continued. He stood up and began walking around the room. His steps became further away before they came back, this time closer. So much more closer. You pressed yourself against the cold wall, desperate to get away from him. The dust and pieces of rock from the wall dug themselves into your skin, making you feel uncomfortable. ”You see. Now when your dad isn’t paying up, we get to have all the fun we want,” he said. His voice so much closer. Closer than ever. You could even feel his breath on your skin. He blew smoke into your face. You coughed at the repulsive smell. There was a sudden pain in your forearm. A burning pain. You bit your lip, trying to not give in to the temptation to scream as the pain worsened.
The man suddenly yelled something to his accomplices, startling you. The metal door banged again. At least two other people came into the room. The sounds of their steps echoed in the room, fast and determined. Pairs of hands grabbed your shackles. ”No no please stop,” you begged. You trashed against their firm hold, ”no please don’t hurt me,” you begged. The cold metal against your skin was gone, now a hand was laid against your scalp, pulling on your hair. ”Let’s go,” a deep voice said and pulled you up by holding onto your hair. You cried out in pain. He began pulling you forward, out of the room. Your feet barely touched the ground as the man pulled on your hair. The cement was freezing cold against your bare feet as you were dragged out of the room. The hallway was filled with different noises. The sounds of different machines running and people screaming in agony. You too, screamed in agony as you were pulled into another room. You felt another pair of cuffs getting tied around your wrists, then suddenly, you were hanging from the ceiling. You panted, anxious for what was to happen next.
The number of steps had been reduced to one pair. Another cigarette was lit. Now,” the familiar voice said. It was the same man from before. ”We’re gonna have fun,” he stated, sounding ominous.
You breathed in deeply, trying to embrace yourself for whatever it was that was about to happen. You could hear a cart being wheeled towards you. The wheels screeched and screamed in pure agony. The man hummed a song as he touched every object on the table. Something thin made of metal. A big machine with the outer layer being plastic and lots of switches. A small plastic object with some glass on it. The man suddenly grabbed an object, it slid against the table as he took it in his hand. He took steps around the room, like dancing. His humming became louder and clearer. It was no melody you recognised, although somewhat familiar. He seemed to have stopped in front of you, there couldn’t have been more than five inches between his nose and yours. His breath smelled foul, the occasional hint of nicotine mixed with whiskey and something rotten. He licked your cheek before spitting on your barefoot. He smacked his lips together. ”Sweat, tears, dirt and maybe a hint of blood,” he spoke in a calm matter. You shuddered as the chills ran down your spine.
He pressed an object against your stomach. ”Do you have any idea why you’re here?” He asked. You could now tell that the object was a knife. Its sharp point was pressed against your skin, only the thin fabric of the open-back hospital gown separating it and you. You chuckled awkwardly, trying to hide your fear. ”I- I have no clue,” you answered. You wanted to make a joke, ease the pressure in your chest but you couldn’t. The fear that came with losing one of your main senses was too powerful. It kept you in check, woke you up to the reality that you had no idea what was going on. You had no idea what was to happen next. You could hear him breathe. Feel how the small air current changed with each of his exhales and inhales.
This room. This place you were in, had been in for three days, was his kingdom. He was in absolute control. You were powerless, like an animal in a cage at his mercy.
”You’re here as a paper we’re going to write the message onto. You can tell your dad that he messed with the wrong people,” the man whispered as he pushed the knife into you. You could feel your skin split as the sharp object was pushed further into you. It burned. You were on fire as you screamed. The pain was excruciating as it spread throughout your body. Over and over again, he sunk the knife into your skin and dragged it in every possible direction to inflict the most pain possible.
Once the pain in your body and throat became too much, you fell limp. Your mind was now up for rent. Owners from before had gotten their deposit back and now new inhabitants were to move in. Yet, no one hauled their sofa and dining table in through the doorway that was just a little too small. As minutes went on, you failed to react or really even register what was happening anymore. None of it mattered, you didn’t care. This pain that was being inflicted upon you was too much, why be around to feel it?
Eventually, it came to a halt. He stopped digging the sharp blade into you. The cart made a loud noise as he threw the knife back on it. ”Like a Christmas present,” he whispered in your ear, his rough hand caressing your wounds.
Tears escaped your eyes as you hung there, chest rising and falling as you failed to fully re-enter your body. His hands stopped roaming your body as he took a step back. The screeching noise of a chair being pulled filled your barely conscious mind. He seemed to sit back down, unmoving. Eventually, he moved. He moved and began humming the same tune from before. He grabbed the knife from before and you braced yourself for more pain. But when no pain came your breathing eased just the lightest amount. Yet, still, you hung there, from the ceiling on hypervigilance. This seemed to go on for hours. The man just humming the same tune over and over again as he sat there, most likely watching you.
There was a loud crash. It startled you as it seemed to do the same to the man. He pushed himself off the chair and hurried out of the room, yelling orders. You felt relieved upon hearing the loud sirens of the security system. Finally, you were going to be released from your nightmare. You listened as guns went off and people screamed, crying tears of happiness when you heard every metal door being opened systematically. Blood pumped into your ears as you listened to the nearing sounds of the doors opening. The hinges of the door creaked and you sighed in relief. ”Hold on, I think I got something,” the familiar voice of Steve Rogers aka Captain America spoke. ”Hello?” You called out once you heard no movement. ”Y/n?” Steve’s voice asked, confused and concerned. You cried out in relief. ”Can you please help me?” You pleaded, hearing how desperate and raw your own voice sounded. You heard Steve’s steps as his feet came in contact with the cold and damp floor. His hands undid your shackles before lifting you to carry you. You sighed in relief as your head fell on his shoulder. You felt the rhythm of his steps as he walked. The sounds of the fighting had stopped, feeding into your relief that yes, your nightmare was in fact, over.
”I’ll help you. Always will,” a voice said. Your blood halted. It wasn’t Steve’s voice.

“my anxiety isn’t that bad” aka little habits their s/o has that they help to try to relieve
Tumblr media
featuring: kuroo, kenma, akaashi and bokuto
inspired by this post. this is not to try to romanticize anxiety and/or mental illness! hopefully this will help anyone who experiences any of these behaviors and possibly provide some distraction with your fav hq boys! hope you enjoy <3
kuroo
winter is beautiful, but the dryness it caused to your lips was definitely a low point. especially when the uncomfortable feeling of the chapped skin against your upper lip was enough to make you vigorously pick at it. sometimes you pick at them so much the skin breaks and bleeds a little.
it hurts but it’s never really bothered you that much. however, kuroo had to say something after tasting the liquid metal on your lips.
“kitten, have you been picking at your lips again?”
“... you’ve noticed?”
“of course, sweetheart. i think you do it more than you know.” he holds your chin while pulling your lower lip down to see the little scabs along with a fresh spot with dots of blood painting the skin.
“oh kitten,” he frowned. “you don’t have to tell me but i want to better understand why you do this to yourself. i don’t want to make you uncomfortable—”
“it’s okay, tetsu. i dunno why i do it. like you said, it’s kind of second nature at this point. but i guess it mostly happens when i’m thinking about something. i’m sorry if it worried you..”
“no, no, no kitten. you don’t have to be sorry,” he replied, pressing a quick kiss to your head. “but thank you for telling me. now what’s got this pretty little mind so mixed up that those pretty lips are bleeding, hm?”
it was always something different but nevertheless, you were constantly worrying about something. and if you didn’t worry about it, something bad or inconvenient would happen.
“i’m sorry you feel that way, babe,” he soothed, the tips of his fingers drumming on the middle of your back. “you can tell me about anything that’s bothering you...or i can get you some chapstick so everytime you feel like picking you can just put that on and eventually it’ll replace the habit!”
“but for now...lemme distract you with some kisses,” he spoke against your lips. “mmm, c’mere gorgeous.”
kenma
you liked playing games with kenma but sometimes you just liked to sit and watch him as he played. until one hour would become two, two became three. boy could play for literal hours on end, no matter who was with him or the time of day. so it could get a little tiring after a while and you could feel the urge to do something else, something a little more active.
your leg began to bounce against the edge of his bed.
“y/n, you’re doing it again,” his soft voice spoke up, his attention unbroken from the tv.
“oh sorry, ken. just feeling a bit restless.”
you moved off the bed and onto the floor, resting up against the side of the frame so your leg bouncing wouldn’t bother him.
kenma played for a few more minutes before completing another stage, sighing with sudden boredom. he then looked over to see that you had disappeared.
“y/n?.....there you are,” peeking over the side of the bed to see you playing on your phone. “what’re you doing on the floor?”
“my leg started bouncing a lot and i didn’t want to bother you.”
he sighed before reaching out his hand. “c’mon snuggles. get up here.”
you took his invitation and climbed back up onto the bed where he pulled you into his lap, your legs straddling him.
“you know, you never bother me,” he grinned. “but you can let me know if you wanna go do something, okay?”
you nodded, copying his grin before giving him a few small kisses and pulling him into a hug.
“do you want to go for a walk? we could go to the park or something.”
you agreed immediately, ready to stretch your legs a bit. you excitedly climbed out of his lap, stretching as soon as your feet hit the floor.
he smiled and chuckled softly at your sudden perkiness. “okay, let’s go cutie.”
akaashi
you always had your phone on you. you never went anywhere without it and never missed any notifications you would receive, even if it was a dumb spam email. and if you didn’t have you phone, well--
“keiji, where’s my phone?” you asked your boyfriend while feeling around the couch to see if it had fallen in between the cushions.
“what’s wrong, baby? aren’t you enjoying the movie?”
“i am but i just need to— you have it don’t you?”
a smirk crept up on his pretty face as if he was trying not to laugh. “i don’t know what you’re talking about—whoa baby.”
he giggled as your hands began patting him down, trying to locate the device.
“please kaashi, i need it—”
“baby, stop. you know i’m ticklish,” he grabbed your wrists to cease your movement. “why do you need it so bad?”
“i just wanna check it, you know, to make sure i haven’t missed anything or anyone’s tried to reach me.”
his hands released your wrists and found their way around your waist, pulling you into his chest. “baby, i promise you, nothing’s happened. everything is okay.”
“but how do you know?”
he reached behind him and pulled out the thing you were looking for. “because it hasn’t vibrated once. do you want it back?”
“yes, thank you-- wait...please tell me it wasn’t down your pants.”
another smirk appeared. “maybe...you’d have to find out for yourself.”
“okay nevermind, you can keep it,” you replied, moving off him.
he captured you back into his arms before handing you your phone. “no, no baby, i’m just kidding,” he chuckled, kissing your cheek. “you’re so cute.”
bokuto
“babeeeeee, can we please stop for a minute? my feet are about to fall off.”
and hiking was his idea.
“i thought i was with one of the top five aces in the nation, but it seems like you’re out of shape to me,” you teased, looking back to your boyfriend.
“ i am NOT out of shape, babe,” he retorts. “besides, maybe i’m just enjoying the view..”
“okay, i’m really about to leave you behind--”
“i’m kidding! i’m sorry, beautiful. you do walk very fast though and to be honest, i really underestimated your stride.”
“i always walk like this, kou.”
he jogs to catch up with you, taking your hand in his. “i know, babe. but can we please take a break? my feet do hurt.”
you finally agree and he leads you off the trail. you sit down on dry ground, where the light was hitting just right.
“move over here, lemme put my arm around you.”
you move over into his side, wrapping an arm around his torso. the scene was rather picturesque: wind softly blowing through the trees, birds chirping and the sound of flowing water from the lake in front of you.
“see, isn’t this nice? so now you can rest your pretty legs,” he remarks, rubbing a hand over your thigh.
“you know, i love that you’re into being active and i was so excited when you agreed to come on this hike with me. but we’re not in any rush..it’s okay to slow down.”
“i’m sorry--”
“no need to apologize, babe. it’s okay,” he reassures, rubbing your shoulder. “but also i just don’t know how to keep up with you. i’m fully admitting it: my s/o is a badass.”
“well, yeah, maybe i’m just trying to keep you on your toes, literally,” you laugh. “but i’ll try to take everything in a little more. i definitely don’t want to miss anything with you.”
you try to resist when he attempts to bear hug you. “nooo, i’m all sweaty. kou, stop.”
“it’s okay, i like that you’re sweaty. actually, i love it.”
you giggle as he begins to kiss your neck, nibbling lightly on the skin. “okay, now it’s your turn to slow down, big boy.”

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Three weeks had gone by, and now Draco was on his bed, toying with the idea of giving up. Y/N had been avoiding him ever since that day he confessed. No matter how hard he tried to get her to warm back up to him, she kept her distance. He had tried everything. He'd sit next to her in class; she'd move seats. He'd wait outside the Gryffindor tower; she'd strut right past him. It seemed as nothing was working, so of course, he was getting a bit discouraged.
Just a couple days ago, the two of them had been in Charms class, and on his way out, Draco noticed that Y/N had dropped her book. This is my chance, he thought to himself. He quickly bent down to pick it up since he assumed she would've been already halfway down the corridor by the time he got back up. But when he arose from the floor, she was standing right in front of him. His heart pounded in his chest. Draco knew he had to stall for time, try and get her defenses to weaken. He turned the book over in his hands. "The Tales of Beedle and Bard," he read aloud. Y/N blushed and averted her eyes. He opened the cover and read the first few lines to himself.
There was once a kindly old wizard who used his magic generously and wisely for the benefit of his neighbours. Rather than reveal the true source of his power, he pretended that his potions, charms and antidotes sprang ready-made from the little cauldron he called his lucky cooking pot.
Draco shut the book and said, "I've actually never read them. My father didn't permit me to. Said it was written by a muggle lover. Supposedly he filed an official request to remove it from Hogwarts's shelves." Draco chuckled as he ran his finger along the spine of the light blue book. But his laughter died when he glanced up at Y/N. She looked rather upset, causing Draco to panic and quickly backtrack. "That isn't to say I don't want to read them now. I mean, I'm sure they're not as bad as Father thought they were," he sputtered. Y/N remained silent. "Perhaps... we could read them together, maybe?" he asked hopefully. He knew it was a shot in the dark, but he did it anyway. Draco hadn't heard Y/N's voice in weeks, and it was making him grow desperate.
Softly, she reached out her hand, and Draco held his breath. But then her fingers grasped the book, and the Slytherin felt his heart shatter. He cleared his throat, trying to push away the lump that had formed in it. His grip loosened, and Y/N pulled her book towards her chest. She didn't even look at him before she turned around and rushed down the hallway, leaving Draco feeling stranded, hopeless, and, quite frankly, stupid for even trying.
Since then, he hadn't put in nearly as much effort into rekindling their friendship. It was painfully obvious Y/N wanted nothing more to do with him, and as much as it hurt, Draco had to accept that. But that didn't stop his thoughts. It couldn't. Every night, he would lay awake, worrying. Worrying about Y/N's wellbeing. Was she happy? Did she make any new friends?
Did she still feel alone?
Draco didn't know. From the little he'd seen of her, he assumed she was alright. He hoped she was. But he had no real way of knowing. He had tried reaching out to her roommate multiple times, but all Stephanie would tell him was that she thought Y/N seemed fine, just a bit quiet. That answer never sat well with him. During those few weeks, before he confessed, he had learned so much about Y/N. One of those things being that she was not quiet. She had talked his ear off many times, telling him funny stories from her childhood. Like how, after one of their study sessions, she told him about the time she had made her pet fish turn yellow just by looking at it. Draco remembered that day clearly.
"My mum was terrified! One moment my fish was blue and the next he was yellow! I mean, imagine that." Y/N laughed. Draco shook his head in disbelief. "Sounds like you were quite the little mischief-maker," he replied as he twirled his wand between his fingers, it was becoming a bit of a habit. Y/N continued giggling, kicking her legs as she did so. "You should've seen the look on my dad's face when he got home. That was the day he sat her and me down and told us he was a wizard. My poor mum. She had no idea."
Draco sat up in shock. "Wait, wait, you're a half-blood?" he asked, eyes wide. Y/N cocked an eyebrow. "Is that a problem, Malfoy?" she questioned as she began to sit up. Her tone was somewhat threatening. Draco raised his hands to show his lack of ill intention. "No, no. I was just surprised," he quickly explained. Y/N chuckled and waved her hand towards him. "Relax, I'm only playing with you," she assured him. Her words piqued Draco's interest. He wiggled his eyebrows and licked his lips, staring suggestively into her eyes. "Well, I'd sure like to play with you," he husked. Y/N gasped loudly and swiftly removed the pillow from behind her back and chucked it at the blonde boy sitting across from her. "Draco!" she screeched. "Joking!" he mumbled. "Just joking...unless."
Y/N crossed her arms, and obnoxiously shook her head while clicking her tongue disapprovingly. Draco snickered before throwing the pillow back at her, making her giggle. His heart skipped a beat as he watched her eyes twinkle. She looked unreal to Draco, ethereal almost. However, he was torn from his trance by her continuing the story. "Anyways, as I was saying, my lovely mum had the shock of her life. I was surprised as well. I mean, I had just found out I was a bloody witch. Although I was much more delighted than she was. Come to think of it, she might've cried," Y/N said with a small frown. "Wow..." Draco muttered. "But what does she think of it now? What with you being at Hogwarts and all."
Y/N hummed to herself, recalling that last time she and her mother spoke about Hogwarts. "Well, I think she thinks it's a bit surreal, you know? She always imagined I'd graduate and go off to university to become a doctor or something, but here I am at a school for wizards and witches," she said while gesturing to the castle walls around her. Draco nodded although he was a bit confused. "She just doesn't understand, right?" he asked. Y/N pursed her lips. "I think she will, with time. Maybe I can introduce her to you and your family. Now that would be really fun," she suggested with a mischievous glint in her eye. Draco furrowed his eyebrows. "And why is that?" he questioned, staring at the giggling girl. "Just imagine me introducing you. I'd say, hey mum, this is my best friend and his wizard parents who dress like they're going to a funeral every single day. Oh, and they also own a mansion in the countryside because they're rolling in galleons!" Y/N bellowed, nearly falling over as she clutched her stomach, erupting in laughter.
Draco would've berated her for the slander towards his parents, but his mind was fixated on three words, "My best friend." He waited until Y/N ceased laughing before asking her, "I'm your best friend?" She looked at him as if he had grown a second head. "Well, duh, you're my only friend, Draco." The Slytherin did his best to hide his blush as he looked to the floor. "You're mine too," he mumbled. But Y/N didn't hear.
Draco sighed as he sat on his bed. He missed her. He wished so badly that she'd walk through his door. But she wouldn't, and he knew that. Slowly, he pushed himself off the green covered mattress and walked over to his wooden desk. A piece of parchment was already on top of it, so he took a seat, and he reached for his ink bottle and quill. His nimble fingers unscrewed the cap, and he dipped the point inside it, drenching it in black liquid. He'd written letters to Y/N many times, but every time he finished one, he'd get scared and chuck it into the bin. Draco knew he'd probably do the same tonight, but he wanted to try. So he pressed his quill to the paper and began.
"Dear Y/N, I hope you are doing well. I'm writing to you to give you my apologies. I should've known better than to confess my feelings for you at such a time. I really hope..." he stilled his hand, not knowing what to say next. His head was reeling as different thoughts and feelings flooded his brain, none of which he knew how to convey in words. She made him so dizzy. But, ever persistent, Draco started again.
"Dear Y/N, Are you doing well? I truly hope that you are. I write to you to tell you that I'm sorry for everything. I said and did so many foolish things that day, and if I could take all of them back, I swear, I would. I know I must've frightened you that day, but Y/N, I fear you don't know how much I miss you. I've never felt this empty before. But I know it's because you're not here. I need you..." Draco, in his frustrated haze, crossed out the last line and crumbled the parchment in his fist. He then tossed it across the room, watching as it hit the wall next to his door, and bounced on the foot of his brass coat rack. He stared at it, thinking about donning his coat and taking a walk around campus. But then, he noticed something underneath. He jumped to his feet and rushed over to the rack. Curious, he lifted his black coat off the hook to reveal a brown cardigan underneath. His chest tightened; it was Y/N's. She must've left it in his room after one of their study sessions. Come to think of it, it was probably from the night before Draco confessed.
Hesitantly, the boy reached out and touched his fingers to the cardigan. It was soft. He lifted it up and held it in his hands, letting his emotions settle. Then, he brought it to his nose, breathing in deeply. It still smelled of her: apples, hazelnut, and cinnamon. Draco felt tears begin to gather in his eyes, but he hastily blinked them away. With care, he hung the cardigan back up and retreated to his desk. He got seated, pulled out a new sheet of parchment, and began writing for the third time that night.
------------
Dear Y/N,
I hope this letter finds you well. I'm writing to you to inform you that I've discovered your cardigan in my room. The brown one that is. I suppose you left it after our last study session. I can return it to you tomorrow morning at breakfast, or if you'd prefer, you can fetch it tonight. The current password to the Slytherin common room is Jobberknoll. Hopefully, you remember where my bedroom is, but should you have forgotten, it's at the very top of the stairway on your left. Please knock three times before entering.
There's no need to send an owl with your reply. Just make sure to come before 9:30. If you don't, I'll assume you wish to receive the cardigan at breakfast, in which case, I shall wait for you by the door.
Draco
Y/N clutched the parchment tightly in her hands. She had been scared half to death when an owl landed right beside her while she was sitting by the open windows. But now, she was more afraid of getting her cardigan back. She glanced around her room frantically, as if she'd find an answer to her dilemma upon the walls. Her eyes then drifted back to the parchment in her hands. She looked at where Draco had signed his name. Above it was a dark scribble as if he had scratched something out. What did he write there? It was probably just 'sincerely,' but what if it was something else. What if it was 'with love'? Y/N wondered. She closed her eyes; she needed to calm down. There was no way she'd be able to make a rational decision with such thoughts running through her brain.
But Y/N had nobody to consult, nobody to refer to. Ever since she'd pushed Draco away that day, she'd been alone. Her roommate spoke to her on occasion, but only about school-related things. Almost the entirety of her house had shunned her. And the whole school knew what she did, so making friends had proven to be difficult. But because of this, Y/N had been able to do a lot of thinking. Truthfully, she missed Draco. She hated herself for rejecting him that day. She hated herself because she liked him. The only reason she had rejected him was that she knew she wasn't ready for another relationship. And on top of that, she didn't think she deserved one. Draco wasn't someone she deserved, not in her mind.
But here she was, being forced to make a decision. Should she just wait until tomorrow, or should she go to his room? Her brain was telling her to wait until tomorrow; that way, she could take the cardigan, thank him, and be on her merry way. But her heart screamed at her to go to him. Go to him, confess to him, bring him back into her life. Y/N glanced at the clock; it was nearly nine. "Fuck," she muttered before pushing off the window seat; her loneliness had gotten the best of her.
She rushed towards her closet and flung the doors open. Her eyes scanned the array of clothing for a few moments before she pulled out her favorite pair of light grey sweatpants along with her pale green crewneck. She threw them on and tucked her wand into her pocket. Then she checked herself in the mirror. Her hair was already pulled back, and she had light mascara on. It was good enough, in her opinion, so she slipped on her shoes and turned her doorknob with a shaky hand.
--------
Draco was sitting in his armchair with a blue book in his hands when he heard three distinct knocks at his door. His breathing began to hasten; surely, it couldn't be... Only one way to find out. "Come in!" he called. The door swung open to reveal Y/N. She looked nervous as all hell but nevertheless, stepped inside his room and closed the door behind her. Neither of them said anything. They simply stared at one another. But luckily, Draco came to his senses. "Right, your cardigan," he said as he dropped his book and stood up. He grabbed the cardigan off the back of his chair and walked over to her, holding out the garment. "Here you are." Y/N took it into her hands and examined it. "Thank you, I thought it was lost forever," she told him with a smile. Draco faltered for a moment. He'd forgotten how sweet her voice was. But then he nodded, and the awkward silence returned. It hung in the air for a few moments before it was broken by the two of them simultaneously blurting out, "I'm sorry."
"No, I'm sorry, Y/N," Draco insisted while shifting his eyes to the floor. "I acted like a fool that day a-and I frightened you, and I made you so overwhelmed. I should've known better, and I am so sorry...I've missed you so much," he said, whispering his last few words. Eventually, he found the courage to look up, and when he did, he saw that Y/N was crying. His heart clenched, and he felt regret pool in his gut. But before he could apologize again, Y/N spoke up.
"I've missed you too, Draco. And I'm not sorry I rejected you that day, I'm sorry that I kicked you out of my life. I thought I was protecting myself because I just knew I would've gone back on my decision if I had let you stay. I liked you too, I still do, but I just wasn't ready. You're too good to be true. I don't deserve a second chance; I don't deserve you. But you didn't deserve to be shut out, and I really hope you can forgive—"
Y/N was cut off by Draco smashing his lips against hers. He held her face in his hands as she gasped, allowing him to sneak his tongue out and run it along her lower lip. She moaned into his mouth as he started to nibble. His hands traveled downwards until they settled on her hips. He pulled her closer and groaned when his hips touched hers. God, how he had missed this. Then, Y/N reached up and ran her hands through his hair, successfully messing it up. Draco knew he wanted more but pulled away from her lips. She breathed heavily and looked into his eyes, puzzled as to why he stopped.
"You're mine...right?" Draco asked anxiously. Y/N smiled and pulled him close for another soft kiss. "I'm yours," she whispered. Draco kissed her again, and she eagerly returned it. Hesitantly, Draco sneaked his hand underneath her shirt, merely letting it sit there against her hot skin as he slipped his tongue into her mouth again. Then, he began to slide his hand up her torso, all while paying attention to her reactions. She seemed to be kissing him harder as he gently ran his thumb along the underside of her breast. He took that as a sign he was doing good, so he placed his hand on top of it and squeezed. Y/N let out a loud moan and pulled away from the kiss. "Draco, please," she whined. He snickered as he studied her pleading face. "What do you need, princess?" he asked in a sultry voice. Y/N squirmed and continued to whine. Draco clicked his tongue. "Always so scared to tell me what you want. There's no need to be embarrassed. I'll give you whatever you want. I just need you to tell me," he reminded her gently. She bit her lip and stared at the floor before finally answering.
"I wanna have sex with you," she whispered. Her face was crimson. Draco felt his heart squeeze; she was too cute. He put his hand underneath her chin and tilted it upwards. A gentle kiss was planted on her lips. "I wanna have sex with you too, darling," he murmured. Y/N couldn't hide her smile as she swiftly took his hand and led him to the bed. Draco smirked and, with sneaky hands, pushed her onto the bed, making her squeal. "Draco!" she yelled with her back now pressed against the mattress. The Slytherin wasted no time; he jumped on top of her while mimicking a roar, causing Y/N to burst into laughter. Her laugh was music to his ears.
Draco tugged her shirt up and off her body, throwing it to the floor. His hands immediately traveled to her back where he unclasped her bra, throwing that away too. Draco felt his dick twitch in his pants upon seeing her nipples harden in the cold air. He leaned down and latched his lips onto one of them while twisting the other between his fingers. Y/N's gasp sent a shiver down his spine, and he sucked her even harder.
"Draco..." she moaned. Draco let go of her tits and sat up, admiring her flushed face. Then Y/N suddenly sat up and grasped the bottom of his shirt and proceeded to yank it off him. Draco only watched as she did this. Her hands then traveled to his pants. She unzipped him and pushed his waistband down, exposing his briefs. He helped her out by maneuvering himself off his knees so that he could kick his pants off.
Once the pants joined the rest of the clothes, Y/N reached for the top of his underwear. But before she could go any further, Draco stopped her. She looked at him, confused as to why he wouldn't want her to touch him. "Tonight is about you, darling. Lie back for me now," Draco instructed. Y/N's face turned red, but she did as she was told and lowered her body onto the bed. Draco's hands grasped her pants, and he slowly pulled them down, stopping to press kisses to her thighs as he went. They were both in only their underwear now, and he could see Y/N was getting impatient. "Speak princess, what do you want?" Draco asked. Y/N pressed her thighs together and rolled her hips a bit before she spoke. "Finger me, please," she begged. Draco smiled at her and immediately pressed his fingers to her pussy, still covered by her panties.
"So polite," he purred as he gently rubbed her clit through her underwear. She closed her eyes and hummed in pleasure. "That feel good, princess?" Draco asked. Y/N nodded and opened her mouth to reply, but a long moan quickly replaced the words on her tongue as Draco applied more pressure to her nub. He continued to swirl his finger around it for a couple minutes, then he slid a different finger past her panties and slowly pushed it inside, feeling her thighs clench as he did so. "So tight," he mumbled before leaning down and giving her a sweet kiss. The intrusion of another finger caused her to gasp into his mouth. Draco groaned and pressed down on her clit, making her hips jump.
"Did you miss this? Did you miss my fingers inside you and my kisses on your body?" he questioned as he thrusted into her. Y/N clenched her walls around his digits and nodded eagerly. "So much. So fucking much," she mewled. Draco added another finger and increased his pace. He noticed Y/N's breathing beginning to get quicker, and he knew she was close. So he finger-fucked her hole for a minute more before withdrawing his hand. Y/N cried out in frustration and glared at him angrily. "Why did you do that?" she whined.
But then, without warning, Draco lifted up her shirt and pressed his lips to her soft stomach, blowing a raspberry onto it. Y/N instantly screamed and wiggled violently underneath him. "STOP, STOP!" she shrieked, trying to get away as her giggles became uncontrollable. Eventually, Draco took mercy on her and ceased his torment. He leaned up to see Y/N was out of breath, and her hair was a mess. "Quit playing games and put your dick inside me, you twat," she ordered. Draco's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "If you say so," he muttered, taking his cock out of his underwear. Y/N's eyes widened, but before she could say or do anything, Draco slid all the way inside her, burying his dick in her pussy. "Ohhh, fuck," she moaned. Draco grunted as he adjusted to the tightness of her hole. He had the instinct to begin slamming into her, but he controlled his urges and allowed her body to adapt to him as he positioned his hands next to her head.
Y/N's walls clenched around him, and she bucked her hips. "Move, please," she pleaded softly. "As you wish," Draco said as he slowly pulled himself out and thrusted back in, setting a slow but consistent pace. Y/N let out quiet mewls as he moved in and out. Her legs found their way to his waist, and they quickly wrapped around it. This pulled him closer and forced his dick deeper inside her. "Fuck," Draco moaned as he leaned down for a kiss while continuing to thrust. Y/N hummed into his mouth and flicked her tongue against his. "Shit, you feel so good," she purred. Draco's cock twitched at her words, and he increased his pace. A harsh grunt escaped him as Y/N reached up and dug her nails into his back. "You're so gorgeous, Y/N," he breathed. "So goddamn gorgeous."
Suddenly, Draco's sensual thrusts were halted by Y/N calling his name. "Yes, darling?" he replied. "You can be rough, I don't mind," she told him gently. Draco smiled down at her and pressed quick kisses along her jaw. "I know, but I can do that another night. Right now," he angled his head so that his lips were by her ear, "I'm making love to you," he whispered, feeling her shudder beneath him.
Y/N's eyes grew soft, and she moved her hands to his face. "You're perfect," she mumbled before pulling his lips to hers, where they shared a passionate kiss. "So perfect." Draco started to thrust again, resuming his slower pace. The force of his cock rocked the couple back and forth on the plush pillows. But then, he had an idea.
He moved his hands from their spot beside Y/N's head, slid them underneath her back, and lifted her up. "Shit," she cursed as she was now on Draco's lap, his dick still buried deep inside her. Slowly, Draco raised her off him and turned her around so that her back was facing him. He then repositioned her hips above his cock and gently lowered her onto it. "Ohhh," she moaned as she once again became full. She was about to lift herself up and fuck herself on his dick, but Draco's hands stopped her. He pushed her legs wide and placed his hand over her pussy. This didn't please Y/N. She started to squirm and buck her hips forward, causing Draco to groan as she stimulated his cock. "Stay still, princess. I'll take care of you," he assured her. His fingers pressed against her heat and slowly spread the upper lips, exposing her clit. With his other hand, he touched his fingers to her nub and slowly began to circle it. Y/N's head fell back onto his shoulder, and a long, deep groan escaped her throat.
"Oh my god," she whimpered as her breathing became ragged. Draco's hands never stopped or stuttered, not even when Y/N's walls squeezed him tight. He just kept rubbing and rubbing; her soft pants sounded like heaven to him. Suddenly, Y/N's thighs began to tense. "Draco, fuck, I'm close," she muttered. Draco turned his head and once again hovered his lips next to her ear. "Cum on me. Cum with me buried inside you," he ordered. Y/N gasped and rolled her head on his shoulder. He could tell she was almost there. "Oh, god. Fuck, fuck, fuck, just a little more," she begged.
Draco kept circling her clit until finally, she inhaled sharply, and her walls clenched him hard. His finger didn't stop; it continued to rub her throughout her high. It only ceased when Draco felt her body jolt from overstimulation. He then pushed her forward onto her hands and knees and began pounding into her, chasing his own climax. The sounds of skin slapping combined with the tightness of Y/N's pussy lit a fire in Draco's abdomen, and soon, he was pushed over the edge. "Cumming," he warned her before he released inside Y/N with a deep groan. The couple remained in that position for a good minute, breathing heavily. Then Draco pulled himself out and laughed as Y/N immediately collapsed face-first onto his bed. He gently flipped her over and kissed her cheek. "You alright, darling?" he asked. She smiled and turned to him. Then, without thinking, she blurted, "I think I love you." Immediately, Y/N slapped her hand over her mouth. But Draco only grinned and said, "I love you too, Y/N."
She lowered her hand and averted her eyes as blush filled her cheeks. "Draco, are we..." she trailed off, looking apprehensive. "Boyfriend and girlfriend?" he asked. Y/N nodded. "I'd love to be your boyfriend, darling," he said sweetly. In less than a second, Draco was attacked by a forceful hug from Y/N. He wrapped his arms around her still naked body and held her close, breathing in her scent: apples, hazelnut, and cinnamon.
"Thank you for not giving up on me," she said softly. "I don't know what I would've done with myself if you had just stopped caring one day," Y/N confessed. Draco gently pulled away from the hug and cradled his girlfriend's face in his hands. "I never  would've stopped caring. Y/N you were all I thought about," he assured her. He watched as her tears began to fall from her eyes. "Don't cry, sweetheart, I'm here now; I've got you. There's no need to cry," he said sweetly, trying to comfort her. But Y/N kept on crying, so he dragged a blanket over his lap and pulled her on top of it. "Look at me, darling," he instructed lightly. She rubbed her tears away with her arm and looked into Draco's eyes.
"I love you. I love you so much. Do not waste your tears on the mistakes of the past. All that matters is that I've got you, and you've got me. Alright?" Y/N continued to wipe her tears and nodded. "Alright. I love you too," she replied.
Draco pressed a quick kiss to her forehead, slid her off his lap, and stood up from the bed. He grabbed some tissues and cleaned himself off before doing the same for Y/N. Then he pulled on his underwear and tossed Y/N hers. As she was getting dressed, Draco strode over to his armchair. In the seat of it sat a small blue book. He picked it up and took it with him as he went back to bed. Y/N was already under the covers; she looked at him quizzically when she noticed the object in his hand. Her mouth opened to speak, but Draco quickly shushed her. He slid under the covers and cozied up next to Y/N. Then, he cracked open the book, cleared his throat, and began to read.
"There was once a kindly old wizard who used his magic generously and wisely for the benefit of his neighbours. Rather than reveal the true source of his power, he pretended that his potions, charms and antidotes sprang ready-made from the little cauldron he called his lucky cooking pot."

i’ll see you in the village -- 2
parts: 1
This village is nothing that you thought it was going to be. You interact with some locals and Chris does some homework to find where you are when he cannot contact you. (chris redfield x f!reader) (a/n: it’s a long one, bois. thank you for all the love)
Tumblr media
                                                            ✧.* ✧.*
As the terrifying sounds echoed through the dilapidated village grew closer to where you stood, your blood ran cold and you reached for your gun but stopped; because, you knew that if you opened fire you might blow your cover. However, whatever created these noises did not sound like a friendly neighborhood pet. Person? Dog? Creature? Whatever it was, it sounded dangerous.
“Come out!” you yell as your head whipped side to side, desperate to get a glance at what it was that was playing this game with you. “Come out!” you scream again, but are only answered with a sharp arrow which hurdled through the air and embedded itself in the wooden fence beside your head. You curse loudly, your life almost ended, and you probably wouldn’t have realized it if it did.
Before you popped off any rounds in retaliation, a strong arm pulled you back from behind. Their rough, dirty palm was pressed firmly against your mouth and they shushed you quietly. The person pulled you into a darkened home and quickly closed the front door that was opened just enough for the two of you to slink through. Your mouth opened to speak once you felt relatively safe from whatever horror lurked in the shadows of the night. “Quiet, girl,” your savior spoke. With the faint moonlight that shined through the boarded up window, you could make out the face of an elderly man and to his right was presumably his wife - who was armed with a double-barreled shotgun and the nose of it pointed at a small hole in the door.
They didn’t explain anything besides telling you that being quiet is the correct thing to do. The same blood-curdling screeches grew closer and thuds on the roof caused you to jump. “Do you have a gun?” he asks and you nod as you place your hand on your hip where it was concealed under your clothing. Sounds of snapping wood from above draw the attention of the wife and she proceeded to pump shells in the general direction of the intruders. One of her shots hit whatever it was and it scurried away. Screams of pain were the last of its noise before the thuds stopped and sounds of it tearing through the front yard verified it was gone.
✧.*
A brief amount of time passed before the two locals spoke. “You’re an outsider,” the woman said as she leaned her firearm on the wall beside the door. “Yes, that is true, but I’m nothing but a traveler from a town far East of here,” you lifted your long skirt to curtsey for the couple, “I’ve come here to spread my fortune telling for all to enjoy.” The man scoffed and shook his head before he took a drink from a dirty mug. “Mother Miranda does not cater well to outsiders,” he burped, “--Especially those with talks of necromancy and fortune telling.” Mother Miranda? Score.
“I promise I have no ill well to you, the locals, or this Mother Miranda that you speak of.” The man scoffed once more but his wife shushed him, “You’re welcome here, dear.” she placed a hand on your shoulder and grinned a gummy smile. “Thank you,” you say and the three of you exchange backstory to your lives, until you try to push for some information about Miranda. “Who is this Mother Miranda?” you ask finally and hope that the tape recorder that is hidden in your waistband had begun to record once you bumped it with your wrist. A glimmer of light sparked in her dark eyes and she walked over to the main wall across the way. She pushed herself onto her toes and reached for a dusty painting of a woman that hung crooked above her head.
“This -- this is our wonderful, Mother Miranda.” she placed it in your palms and you brushed away a thick layer of dust with your thumb. The painting was faded but you could still make out what this woman looked like, and it was identical to the photo that the BSAA showed. Another spot marked off on the mission bingo sheet. “She keeps us safe and has for longer than we have been around.” she continued to praise the blonde. “She does? What about whatever is out there!? Does she keep you safe from that?” Your insult hit a nerve because the man stood from his seat, “How dare you insult our Mother in our home! You will feel her wrath!” he continued to yell, despite hiding away from the thing just outside the door. He proceeded to kick you out of their home and closed the door behind you, then locked it so you couldn’t get back in.
You knocked several times and attempted to apologize, but the same shotgun used to save your life was now pointed at your forehead. When you could feel the sensation of the firearm aimed for you, your hands raised instinctually in the air and you backed away slowly, your eyes never moved from the barrels. Never again would you see this couple.
✧.*
Once again, you found yourself alone in the dark village. Maybe the large castle that loomed over would be a good place to investigate next? You wandered toward the center of the crossroads and your thoughts drifted from subject to subject before being interrupted by the sound of a horse’s gallop. Another villager?! Hopefully they’d be nicer than the last pair. You turned to wait for the horse to approach but were horrified at the site that soon was before you. On the animal’s back was no man or woman, but a grey skinned creature who wielded a burning stake with a charred human remain pierced through the middle. It looked like one of the drawings you found in the old fairytale book your mother read to you when you were a small.
There was no time to scream but just enough to pull your pistol off your hip and shoot into its face. Unlike any human but just like the BOWs you’ve dealt with previously, it took the bullets like a sponge. Instead of wasting any more ammo, you decided on your best bet, and that was to run - run fast. The terrain was unknown but you did your best to go in any direction that was not the same way as your assailant.
The creature slashed the burning spike around in the air as it tried to hit you with it but you managed to duck and dive each time he did it. Soon, you saw a hope of escape, a line of trees. You continued down your path and once you reached the wooded area, you threw yourself down the only option you could see -- a steep hill and then tumbled down. The horse cried in fear and bucked upward, it wouldn’t allow the hostile creature to chase you any longer.
Your hands covered your head as you bounced off the hard, icy ground. Each hit, bump, and scrape burned through your body but you hoped that at the bottom you’d be safe. When you reached the bottom, you rolled out onto a dirt path and narrowly missed being trampled by a horse drawn carriage. The stallion that carried the wooden neighed loudly as it’s hooves dug into the ground. Your vision was blurred from your trip down the hill and you could barely make out a rather obese face of a man who peeked his head out from behind the curtain of his carriage.
“My word, I nearly flattened you into a pancake!” he cried as he pulled the fabric back completely. Your breaths were heavy and short as you remained silent, eyes fixated on the Caucasian friendly face. The man encouraged you to enter his wagon and you hesitated to accept but did once you pushed yourself up from the ground. “Unlike those bewitching women who lurk in that castle... I don’t bite!” he giggled. The gentleman introduced himself as “The Duke” and gave you a short tale about his travels in this village. Duke explained that it wasn’t always this way and it was once full of rich life and light, but it’s all different now... “What about you, my lady? What is it that brought our paths to cross one another?” he asked before he blew out a puff of cigar smoke. You coughed several times and waved your arm in the air in an attempt to waft the smoke from the small room. “Well...” you started and then proceeded to tell the imaginary tale that you told the couple previously.
                                                                      ✧.* ✧.* ✧.*
“Dammit!” Chris yelled and slammed the dashboard of the vehicle he was passenger in with his fist. The truck that was to transport Ethan and his deceased wife had been taken off the road and the infant, Rose, was most likely gone or dead. He began to bark orders at his squad in frustration before he came to his senses and took a deep breath. Miranda must’ve been behind all of this... and took Rose. “There,” he pointed at a rugged map of the local area that was taped onto the truck’s wall and turned to Umber Eyes, “Miranda’s village is there, and I bet so is Rose.”
A female interrupted from the back of the caravan, “Alpha, that information you requested came in.” she brought over a laptop and set it in Chris’s palms. The bright screen in the dark caused Chris to squint as he read through the document. Your BSAA photo was the largest thing on the page and beneath it was the detailed report of your newest mission, the one that brought you to Europe. He gritted his teeth - thoughts of the BSAA sending you on what could be a death mission crossed his mind. Chris reached into the breast pocket of his black overcoat and pulled out his phone, then held down the 1 key to speed dial your cell. It rang several times before informing that there was no voicemail set up. He huffed before he tried several more times. Each call ended the same way and Chris felt anxious.
“Lobo, ping on [Y/N]’s phone and find her location!” he ordered, his voice cracked just the slightest as his anxiety peaked. Lobo nodded, gave his superior a thumbs up and typed away on his laptop. Chris not only was concerned for Ethan and baby Rose, but now your whereabouts plagued his mind. He was confident in your capabilities but he knew how dangerous Miranda and her subordinates could be.
Chris sat in silence with his thoughts as the vehicle turned around and headed in the direction of Miranda’s village. He reached into the same pocket as earlier and pulled out a wrinkled photograph of the two of you. It was from your first mission that the two of you ever went on together. It wasn’t too long ago, maybe three or four years but it felt like a lifetime now. His calloused thumb ran over your smiling face and he hoped that you were okay...
The moment of silence ended, “Alpha, her phone pinged in the same location as Miranda’s village.” Lobo informed as he turned the screen to Chris. A brief moment of relief washed over him but if your phone was there, then where were you? And why weren’t you answering?
Little known to you or Chris -- the cellphone laid in the middle of the dirt road, left behind as you road off in the carriage with the Duke. The screen lit up brightly in the dark air and the generic tune jingled in the stillness of the night. It continued to do this several times as Chris continued to call and worked on pinpointing the pings. On the final ring, a feminine hand reached down from above and picked the phone up. The screen flashed, “CHRIS” over and over. The call was ended by the person, they took the phone firmly in their palm and crushed it with their strength.
Now, there was no way for Chris to communicate with you and someone was now on your tail...

Suicidal Misunderstanding XXI
Part I - - - - - - - - Part XVIII - - - - Part XIX - - - - Part XX
Star Wars Time Travel AU #27
“This is Master Kit Fisto, requesting permission to land.”
“Hold on one moment please, General Fisto.”
A crackling sound filled the air while Ahsoka bounced her leg anxiously up and down in the copilot’s seat.
“I’ve been told to redirect your shuttlecraft to auxiliary seven. Sending coordinates now.”
“Aux Seven?” Kit frowned at the comm. “Are you certain? That’s a deployment pad.”
“Affirmative, High Council Orders. You and Commander Tano are to land on aux seven. Have you received the coordinates?”
“Yes, yes- I know where I’m going. Thank you. Over.”
“Over.”
Ahsoka shot the Nautolan Master an anxious look.
“Maybe they realized Obi-Wan’s injuries were actually an attack and they’re redeploying me and Skyguy to go after the jerk responsible?” the Padawan asked hopefully.
Master Fisto grimaced. “I would hope they’re not sending you out into the field so soon but I suppose the Ghost Nebula crisis has been escalating. Ahsoka...if they are assigning you a mission and you’d rather stay at the temple-”
“I should be with Master Skywalker and the 501st,” Ahsoka said resolutely. “I shouldn’t have left them in the first place. Skyguy said I could help the war and see Lee Char and I just-” Ahsoka cut herself off with a slight snarl.
Kit sighed. “You’re a remarkable padawan and commander. I simply wanted to let you know I’m happy to support you if you wish to rest.”
The young tortugan bounced her leg a little more. “Thank you Master Fisto, but I’m fine.”
They spent the rest of the short flight in silence. When they finally reached the landing pad, they were met by a small contingent from the 501st, as well as Master Windu himself, who greeted them with a short bow and a placid expression.
“Master Fisto, Padawan Tano, I trust your flight went smoothly?”
“Yes, Master Windu,” Kit and Ahsoka said in unison.
“Padawan Tano- is there any thing I should be aware of that would prevent you from shipping off with the 501st? I regret that you won’t have time at the temple but...situations are escalating rapidly and it’s been agreed that the best place for you is onboard the Dauntless.”
Ahsoka straightened her spine. “I’m ready for my next mission Master Windu.”
“Sir-” Captain Rex interjected, “Does this mean that General Skywalker isn’t stepping down from command anymore? Surely you’re not shipping Ahsoka off alone?”
A muscle throbbed in Master Windu’s forehead. “General Skywalker’s status is classified.”
Captain Rex opened his mouth.
“As is General Kenobi’s. You will simply have to trust in the High Council’s decision. Padawan, follow the Captain to his transport shuttle. Master Fisto, you’re with me.”
Ahsoka started to move in a daze but Kit stopped her with a gentle hand to her shoulder.
“Mace- surely you can tell young Tano more than that before sending her out- she’s already partially informed regarding the situation with Master Kenobi. I realize time is of the essence but a Padawan’s place is with their Master, correct?”
The troops shifted and Captain Rex openly scrutinized General Windu. The Jedi looked calm. Too calm. He was hiding something. Obviously.
“I’m afraid it’s all classified, including what you’ve already been told. All I can tell you right now is... to trust in your General.”
Rex, already close to his breaking point, snapped at Windu. “Are you talking about Krell?! That demagolka is-”
“Watch your language, Captain.”
“Yes, sir.”
Master Fisto frowned heavily “Mace, I’m not comfortable with this. As a fellow council member, I ask we delay sending Ahsoka until we’ve had a chance to discuss things further- I’m happy to fly her to a rendezvous with the 501st if that’s what we decide.”
Windu shook his head firmly. “I’m afraid that time of the essence and the matter isn’t open to discussion. You have your assignments. Padawan Tano will be technically placed under Master Krell’s watch, though I’m explicitly assigning her to focus on her duties with the 501st. Padawan, you’re to focus on your military responsibilities with Captain Rex, not training with Krell; he’s received a copy of my orders in the regard. Everyone needs to trust that the council has- a bigger picture than any one campaign, or any one person.”
A hint of frustration crept in Master WIndu’s tone and Ahsoka swallowed down her bitter thoughts.
“Yes, Sir,” she said, saluting the Master of the Order with military precision. Rex snapped off a salute as well, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder before guiding her away.
“Mace, what the-”
“Not here.”
“I’m not-”
“Not. Here.”
Master Fisto cast one last look at the retreating 501st before chasing after the Human Jedi Master, the force too turbulent to tell him if it was the right decision.
To Kit’s continuing dismay, he was led not inside the temple, but to a nearby speeder. Mace was dead silent for the short walk, gesturing silently to enter. Kit’s lips tightened but he climbed in, a temple guard starting to fly the moment the doors shut.
“Mace-”
“Read this,” Master Windu said brusquely, pushing a datapad into the Nautolan Master’s hands.
Master Fisto scanned the screen, large eyes growing wider the longer he read.
“No!” Kit gasped, floundering in the force for reassurance, but Mace’s shields were like durasteel. Kit softened slightly.
“Master Kenobi...you really don’t know where he is?”
Mace stared out the window.
“Keep reading,” he said hollowly.
“...You think he might attempt to assassinate Dooku? AND the Chancellor? By himself?”
“He was...disconnected from reality at points,” Mace said carefully. “He was aware of that fact, but seemed to blame the Sith and the Politicians for the war. His...trust in the Order is severely shaken.”
Kit continued to scroll through the pad, pausing and reeling in horror. “He stabbed Skywalker?!”
Mace nodded tersely. “And now Skywalker’s AWOL as well. He handled Obi-Wan’s initial...breakdown as well as can be expected, given the circumstances, but his continued shocking behavior after waking up...Skywalker was already severely shaken before Kenobi got to the worst of his ramblings.”
“Force,” Kit said heavily, rubbing his forehead.
“I know I wasn’t fair to Padawan Tano, but the council felt the need to get her off planet and away from specifically dangerous elements.”
Master Fisto groaned, leaning back. “I can’t believe the expansion region is considered a safer option than the temple.”
Kit looked out the window. “Mace...why are we heading to the Senate Rotunda?”
Windu seemed, impossibly, to tense up even further. “I need you to brief the Chancellor on Kenobi.”
Kit’s head whipped around, tentacles flailing behind. “I just landed on planet,” he responded in disbelief. “Wouldn’t it be better for someone was actually there to do that?”
“I can’t,” Mace said, a hint of anguish breaking through his shields and voice, before his jaw clenched shut.
Kit drew back, alarmed by the falter in stoicism.
Master Windu’s collected himself with a shaky breath. “I have to ready the 187th; with Kenobi and Skywalker out of the picture we need every General on the front lines now. I’m sure the Chancellor will agree, once you brief him on how dire the situation is.”
There was a short pause as the two collected their thoughts.
“...The last few days have been hell, haven’t they?” Kit asked quietly.
The Harrun Kal Jedi chuckled darkly at that. “They’re nothing compared to the shit-show that’s about to unfold.”
Master Fisto bent over, dropping his face to his hands.
Windu steeled himself before continuing on. “I need you to organize the Chancellor’s defense. Try to stress to him that he should be guarded by a Jedi at all times- tell him- tell him whatever you have to about Kenobi, so far he only knows that he was ill, but you’re authorized to give more details than I previously disclosed- his medical file is attached. Tell him our worst suspicions if need be. The fact that you’ve been off-world...makes you...above suspicion in some respects. I’m...sorry Kit. I know I’m throwing you in without proper support but...it’s the best I can do. You’re going to have to explain to the Chancellor how stretched thin we are.”
The Nautolan smiled weakly. “You don’t have to apologize, Mace, you’re the one heading to the front.”
Mace didn’t reply.
The speeder arrived at the Senate Entrance.
Kit steadied himself, grabbing the datapad and holding it like a shield as he marched inside. The speeder peeled away, heading back to the temple. Master Gallia pulled off the temple guard mask, frowning even as she navigated back the way they came.
“I don’t like this plan,” she protested again.
“Neither do I,” Mace agreed. “Do you have a better one?”
“We don’t know that Sidious’s mental abilities are that strong,” she said desperately.
“We don’t,” Mace agreed again. “All we know is that he’s subtle enough to conceal himself from us for over a decade while gradually steering us towards destruction, and also powerful enough to defeat us all in combat.”
Adi Gallia took a long meditative breath, desperately seeking calm as the force roiled, massive waves of upheaval rippling across the galaxy.

“I don't wanna be too much
But I don't wanna miss your touch
And you don't seem to give a fuck”
It’s been weeks. Weeks since I’ve talked to Jaehyun. Weeks since I’ve made any form of interaction with him. Weeks since I had his body close to mine.
He’s been ignoring me and yet I still can never guess why. I saw him walking out of his Psychology class today. I put my foot down, determined to settle on the decision that I just have to force it out of him instead of floating around mindlessly trying to dissect and figure out his weird attitude.
He walked down the hallway, bag lazily hung on one shoulder. He wore his black hoodie and grey sweatpants. His messy and unkept hair bouncing in the air with each step he took. It meant that he’s had a bad morning. I knew him long enough to know that if he doesn’t put effort into looking good then it meant that he wasn’t having any of it. I did think twice before approaching him. But he has left me in the dust for too long for me to handle.
“Jaehyun.” I said with a firm voice, running up to him and grabbing his arm tightly. He stopped in his tracks, his head turning slowly as his eyes trailed from my grip and to me. “What?” Jaehyun asked, sounding annoyed with his brows furrowed and narrowed eyes.
“What? That’s all you have to say?” I jerked my head forward, copying his same expression except that mine was intensified with how arrogant is What sounded. “Three fucking weeks. And that’s all you have to say?”
Jaehyun shook his arm to get off of my grip. Due to the force of his strength, I stumbled back slightly. He folded his arms, hands hugging his waist as he glanced down with a sigh and looked at me. “What do you want me to say?”
I scoffed loudly, running a hand filled with frustration through my hair. I adjusted my tote bag on my shoulder before standing firm and upright in my spot.
“An explanation on why the fuck you’re ignoring me would be nice, you know.” Jaehyun smacked his lips, almost in an awkward manner. But he kept silent for at least ten seconds, just staring down at me.
“I have nothing to explain.” Jaehyun finally let out dryly. But in a way it sounded like he was mad. My pupils flared. Rage was starting to build up in me while he kept up his nonchalant attitude. Jaehyun shoved his hands in his sweatpants and walked off. I would have stopped him, but I chose not to.
I didn’t want to annoy too much if I asked him again. All I wanted was to know why he kept ignoring me all this time. But it seemed like he didn’t care. Like he was able to erase me cleanly out of his life, ignoring me completely. He avoided my glances in class, he acted as if he didn’t hear anything when I called out to him and he’d walk past me casually as if nothing between us happened.
I stood there, staring at his back as his figure started to get smaller and further till he turned a corner and disappeared. I balled a fist in my hand, squeezing it so tight that my fingernails made an impression on my skin and having red marks on my palm.
To be honest, as much as I was mad at him, I missed him a whole lot more. I missed having his arms around me, I missed his whispers, I missed my fingers running through his soft locks. I missed his touch. I didn’t know I could be this touch-deprived till he ignored me. I walked back to my dorm, specifically Mark’s so that I could let off some steam.
“Wait like actually?” Mark shouted from the kitchen while he took out the large tub of strawberry ice cream and watermelon slices from the fridge.
I screamed into the pillow more, digging my face into it till I finally lifted my head up and took in a deep breath, turning my head sharply to Mark. “Yeah. Can you believe it?!” I shouted back, watching Mark bringing the desserts and taking a seat next to me. I shoved the pillow beside me and slumped into the couch with folded arms.
“I never thought he’d do something like that. He’s always been kind to me. And everyone.” Mark commented, picking up and watermelon slice and munching on it with a dreamy sigh. I huffed, grabbing the ice cream angrily and picking up the spoon, shoving it in forcefully to take a spoonful and eating it. “Not to me apparently.” I said with rolled eyes.
“We were completely fine before. I don’t know what happened and that’s what’s driving me insane!” I groaned out. After forcing Mark to get me ice cream, I thought my anger would subside at least a tiny bit. But having Jaehyun running circles in my mind has done it for me. Isn’t mind Jaehyun suppose to be the tired one here?
“Ah wait!” I alerted Mark, gaping my mouth open as I quickly turned my head to him. Mark does the same with raised brows. “Huh what? You know why he’s ignoring you?” Mark tilted his head and leaned in with curiosity.
I shook my head furiously, making Mark backed his head till his double chin showed. “Then what?”
“The dance assignment! Shit I forgot! Did you start?” I dropped the tub in my lap amd slapped Mark’s thigh vigorously, starting to get panicky as I remembered the assignment I’m suppose to pass up in a month’s time. Mark gave a half-shrug. “I’m doing solo for this one. Have you not started?”
“No! Urgh I can’t do solos. Is there anyone that wants a duet?” Mark puckered his lips, tilting his head up as he thought about it for a moment. “How about Taeyong?” He suggested. I looked at him with disbelief.
“Um hello? It’s Lee Taeyong. I’m pretty sure he’s doing solo. Even if he were to do a duet, all the girls would be fighting for the spot next to him.” I reached forward to pick up a watermelon slice and shoving it in my mouth despite the fact that I still had a little ice cream in my mouth.
“You never know. Just ask him next practice.” I let out a quiet ‘tsk’ I stared down at the table while I slowly chewed and swallowed all the food in my mouth. At least now I had something to do that can hopefully get my mind off Jaehyun.
“And I might not be the one for you
But you ain't about to have no boo.”
During dance theory in the lecture hall, I kept my eyes on Taeyong, who was sitting in the center a few rows lower than me. I rested my chin on the palm of my hand, head facing him and I pondered about how I can master up the courage to talk to him.
He’s the best dancer among all dance majors. From techniques to theory, he’s gotten perfect scores every time. It felt somewhat wrong for me to talk to someone of a high status like that. And of course his talent and visuals has had girls swooning over him for years.
I snapped back to reality when I reallse everyone started to pack and stand up from their seat. I blinked my eyes rapidly as I looked around before turning back to Taeyong, heaving a sigh as I notice him still standing there. I quickly packed up my things, slinging my tote bag on and rushing down the flight of stairs to where Taeyong was.
I was now standing in front of him, his bright red hair standing out while he kept his eyes on his things while packing up. “Taeyong?” I called out softly, bending forward. He finally lifted his head up. “Hi?” He asked, questionably.
“Um I was wondering what you’re planning to do for the assignment.” Taeyong glanced sideways before meeting my eyes. As I stared at him, I really now could see why all girls fall in love with him. I’ve never seem to notice since I’ve always been caught up with Jaehyun.
“Actually I’m-”
“It’s fine if you have another person to do duet with you. I’m sure you’ve got a lot of options and that’s totally fine I understand-”
“I didn’t even finish my sentence.” Taeyong cut me off with a light chuckle, a small smile forming on his face. He was so attractive. “Oh right sorry.” I blurted out, turning my head to the side and rubbing the back of my neck nervously.
“I was saying that I haven’t thought about what I wanted to do yet.” Taeyong stood up, holding his bag in his fingers with the handle. He was so close to me and I got extremely terrified with his height. Though the gap difference wasn’t much. I guess I’m just intimidated by his presence. “Mark recommended that we should team up.” I finally let out, forcing myself to not beat around the bush anymore to get this done and over with.
Taeyong’s smile got a whole lot brighter and bigger till his eyes form a thin line. “Sure! Been doing solos too much and you’re quite good.” I couldn’t believe what I just heard. Firstly, he said yes. Secondly, he noticed me dance before? I mean of course we saw everyone dancing but I never imagined Taeyong to actually look at me dances.
“Wait really?! Oh my God thank you! Um so do you have any classes after this?” I bounced on the ball of my feet excitedly, a smile unconsciously forming on my lips. Taeyong shook his head. “You want to start today?” I nodded my head eagerly.
“Alright. Let’s head to the dance studio. We only have one month left.”
Due to the limited time we had, it forced Taeyong and I to have dance practices almost everyday, particularly every night. We’d either use the dance studio and his own one out of campus that wasn’t far away. I started to bond with Taeyong more and more, realising how sweet and soft he was despite looking so intimidating at first. I liked the time I spent with Taeyong. He was able to make it fun for us even though we’d be laying on the floor dying by the end.
One practice, Taeyong and I just finished cleaning up our choreography that Taeyong was expertly able to come up by the third practice. It became normal for us to just lay down, arms and legs spread out on the floor as we stared up at the ceiling and let out loud and heavy breathing be heard.
That is, until my phone rang.
“You should get that.” Taeyong rolled over, his stomach on the floor while he kept his upper body up with the support of his elbows and forearm on the floor. I sighed, frowning. “I can’t be bothered to move.” The phone’s been ringing for minutes now.
Taeyong chuckled and stood up after taking in a deep breath, reaching his hand out to my bag and sliding me my phone. “Thanks.” I muttered as Taeyong sat down beside our bags to grab his drink.
I looked at the caller, instantly sitting up straight when I reallsed it’s Jaehyun. My sudden actions caused Taeyong to let out a, “Who’s calling?” I assumed he examined my shocked expression after asking that as I kept my eyes on the phone, Jaehyun’s name bolden on my screen.
I then remembered the fact that I blocked his contact a few months back and it had a time limit on it. And I guess the limit ended today.
“I’m picking up the call. And if I start screaming, you might want to run. Cause’ I’m about to get a lil bit psychotic.” Despite my warning, Taeyong let out a humorous laugh, nodding his head in response. “Alright, alright.” He said, waving his hand out lazily as a way to say, “Now go pick up the call.”
One click of a button and I brought my phone up to my ear, hearing Jaehyun’s heavy breathing. “Where the fuck are you?” His voice was low and deep, one filled with anger, but not the shouting kind. “I’m at a dance studio...?”
“Yeah and with who?” Jaehyun growled. I turned my head to the mirror, seeing Taeyong looking at my back. “With Taeyong. So what?” I questioned him, wanting to sound nonchalant.
Jaehyun scoffed in amusement. “At two in the morning?! You serious right now?!” His voice raised with each word, he was now screaming and I began to get scared. “How’s this your problem?! I’m practicing for my assignment with Taeyong. What the hell did you think I was doing!” I couldn’t help but shout back, wanting to fight and top his level of rage and anger. I had the right to be mad since he ignored me for so long. But for him to suddenly care about what I do and who I’m with? That wasn’t going to cut it for me.
“I don’t give a damn. I’m picking you up right now. Tell me your location.”
“No! We’re not done practicing!” I lied, groaning as I leaned forward and placed a hand on my forehead to cover my eyes.
“Practice another day-”
I didn’t notice Taeyong creeping up behind me, flinching when I felt his hand on my wrist, pulling my phone away from my ear. He snatched it out of my grip and held the phone to his ear. “You heard her. We’re still practicing. I don’t why you’re so worked up. But you can speak with her tomorrow. Have a good night now.” Taeyong sounded extremely professional, proceeding to end the call and handing my phone back.
“You didn’t have to...” Taeyong sat down beside me and sighed, the two of us now facing the mirror as we stared at ourselves. “I didn’t want you to go psychotic.” He joked, making me laugh slightly, though it hurt my core due to the physical training we did before actually practicing.
“Is that your boyfriend or something?” He sounded curious. I kept silent, looking up as I try to phrase who Jaehyun was to me. But I ended up with no answer. “I don’t know. We’re just... complicated.” I whispered. “Let’s not talk about Jaehyun. I’m getting sick of it.”
Absentmindedly, or perhaps not, I laid my head slowly onto Taeyong’s shoulder. He didn’t move and instead stayed there as comfortable silence filled the air, not giving a thought about our sweaty bodies touching each other.
Tumblr media
Biology lecture ended. I was walking out of the hall when I thought of texting Taeyong to see if I could meet him for a short practice. I didn’t know why, I just wanted to see him and do anything with him, it didn’t have to be practicing.
Before I could even type a single letter, my wrist was suddenly being pulled back from behind, making me fall back a few steps till the grip guided me to stand. I looked up, seeing Jaehyun standing in front of me. Immediately, my eyes looked back at him filled with arrogance. “Why were you with Taeyong yesterday?” Jaehyun asked. Suddenly, his eyes grew soft and sweet. Which made me very surprised. It’s been long since I’ve seen the sweet side of Jaehyun before he ignored me. It made me feel something in my stomach indeed.
“I told you I had practice. I’m doing a duet with him for my assignment.” I said with a quiet sigh. Jaehyun ran a hand down his face, biting his lower lip as he looked away for a moment. “I just wanted to say that I’m sorry... for getting worked up. I shouldn’t have since it’s for school.”
I clicked my tongue in amusement, smugly folding my arms and placing my weight on one leg. “An apology but no explanation? You’re an odd one Jaehyun...”
“We need to have a proper chat.” I tilted my head slightly at his weird words. Confused, but also nervous as to what he wanted to talk about.
We ended up going to his dorm. His roommate was out. We sat down on the couch together, his body leaning forward to reveal his back while I leaned back into the couch. There was a gap between us, which made me feel weird. The space in between was just... just there. And the fact that we used to cuddle on this couch made this more awkward.
“So?” I asked, my curiosity already killing me. Jaehyun let out a frustrated sigh. “I think we should just cut whatever we have completely.”
“What...?” I didn’t know what else to say. I wasn’t sure what to feel either. I could tell he was breaking down silently. I didn’t even need to look twice to confirm that. But I was breaking at his words as well, looking down to my lap amd biting my bottom lip. “Why?”
“I don’t know what we are,_____. Are we friends? Cause’ from the way we treat each other we’re definitely not. We aren’t in a relationship together either. We aren’t friends with benefits. We’re going back and forth and I’m sure you’re as tired about this as I am.”
As much as I wanted to deny, I couldn’t. Our relationship and what we were to each other was certainly not definite. It always confused me and put me in a tough spot. The way we treated one another was as if we’re in love. Maybe we were, or maybe we weren’t. Questions about us had always kept me up all night. And I guess it is right that we just cut it off completely.
“You’re right. I don’t see why we should be together. Or not. I don’t fucking know.” I stood up, making my way to the door. I had my hand on the doorknob. At that moment, I didn’t want to leave. I wanted everything to go back to normal. To when I would be in Jaehyun’s lap as we talked for hours, his turn table playing old school songs that I’ve never heard of but grew to like. To when we would go out together and do whatever we wanted till late at night. Basically back to when any of this confusion even happened.
“You still haven’t told me why you completely shut me out for three months straight though. It hurt me. You owe me an explanation soon. Goodbye, Jung Jaehyun.”
Tumblr media
“I wanna kiss you, don't wanna miss you
But I can't be with you 'cause I got issues.”
Jaehyun could only seat there in silence, not sure of what to do now. His mind went blank the moment the door closed. He felt his phone vibrating in his back pocket. He leaned forward to take it out, proceeding to pick up the phone without even looking at the caller.
“Hey.” Jaehyun said plainly. He heard a few shuffling before someone comes up to the phone, their breathing could be heard. “Jae. I need to see you. Now. It’s urgent.” He recognised the familiar voice immediately.
“Soo? Why are you calling me?” Out of all the people that could’ve called him, she was the one that Jaehyun would least expect a call from. Let alone one that he wanted to hear from either. “A matter we can’t discuss on the phone. You know where to meet. In ten minutes.” The call quickly ended.
Jaehyun raised a brow at this. Many questions and possibilities popped up in his head. He quickly dashed out the dorm after grabbing his necessities, wanting to get this done and over with.
He waited by the park. A place that he and soo have had many memories. Ones that he wish to forget. But upon his visit to the park, of course they all had to come crashing back in his mind.
Soo came and motioned him to sit down on the bench that faced the lake. The dark sky being reflected on the lake’s surface as the cold breeze of the night touched their skin. “It’s about us.”
“There’s nothing between us.” Jaehyun was quick to reply, wishing he could just get out of this situation and think over about his other problems. Particularly the one about his complicated love life with a partner that he wasn’t even sure was his partner in the first place.
“Our parents are suspicious of us, Jae. You say that us not meeting anyone would solve it but if they don’t see us together-”
“It’s been three months do you think I wouldn’t realise it?” Jaehyun leaned forward and covered his face with both his hands, exhaling before lifting his head up back and looking at the scenery, hoping it’ll put him at ease even the slightest bit.
“You don’t want this. I don’t want this either. I have my own problems you know. I have someone I love.” Soo nodded her head, humming agreeably. “You’re right. We both don’t want this. But our parents do.”
Jaehyun groaned in annoyance, turning his head back to look at her. Soo blinked her eyes rapidly. She’s never seen him this mad before. “I know that way too damn well.” Jaehyun slapped his thighs and stood up, shoving his hands in his pocket and turning around swiftly to Soo.
“I don’t care what you do. You have a higher status than me and therefore you have a higher chance and authority for our parents to listen to you. Tell them I’m sorry but I really don’t want to be tied down to someone I don’t love.”
With that, Jaehyun stomped off, making his way back to the dorm. He immediately plopped himself onto his bed, sighing and he stared up the window. The couldn’t stop thinking about his lover. The fact that he couldn’t explain to her made his heart breal in every way possible.
He jusy wanted to be with her. But it was now his fault that she hates him now. And he’s not sure of what to do. The fact that he had to call off whatever they had couldn’t be anymore painful.
He wanted her with him right now. To have her presence right next to him. His arm wrapped around her as a way to protect her small figure from the world though he knew well enough that she was capable on her own. He wanted to plant light and sweet kisses filled with love all over her face. He wanted her touch of love that could send electric shocks throughout his body. He just missed her so.
Tumblr media
“Even though you ain't mine, I promise the way we fight make me honestly feel like we just in love
'Cause baby, when push comes to shove.”
It’s been a few days since Jaehyun and I called it quits. And honestly, I was falling apart. I missed him a lot. It felt weird not having him around. It felt like back when he ignored me for three months. Except now the anger has disappeared, and all I craved for was his presence.
“The performance and assessment’s tomorrow. You ready?” Taeyong asked, breathing heavily as he walked to the speaker to stop the music. I squatted down on the floor, hugging my knees to catch my breath before gulping and nodding my head. “I’m surprised we managed to do this in a month despite our professor giving us four.” Taeyong nodded back agreeably.
“Let’s just hope we do well tomorrow then.” Taeyong walked back to me with his hands shoved in his pockets. I eyed him up and down taking the time to admire his outfit, which was simply just a tucked out loose white button under a muted blue waistcoat and black jeans and pointed shoes. The blue waistcoat was just to match his light blue hair that he dyed recently that suited him very well.
“Your outfit is simple, yet so pleasing.” I mumbled, my finger placed under my chin. Taeyong chuckled, taking one step closer to me. For some reason it made my heart race, the space between us got smaller and smaller unintentionally. “It’s probably because of my physique and natural features.”
Taeyong bent down to meet my eye level, tilting his head as he gave his cheeky eye smile that I got used to seeing very quickly. I ruffled his hair and laughed loudly. “Of course it is. You’ll definitely outshine me tomorrow.”
Taeyong slipped a hand around my waist, pulling me closer. This was definitely normal since our choreography included him doing this, but it made my face hot this time. “The purpose of a duet is to help each other shine together. I don’t think I’ll ever be outshining you.” Taeyong commented softlt with a gentl smile.
It was finally time for the performance. Everyone at the hall was seated, murmurs and chatters can be heard all over. Backstage, everyone was rushing to get ready. But I couldn’t help but peek at our professors and dance instructors that were about to grade us from behind the curtains.
“Nervous?” I heard Taeyong’s voice from behind me as he placed a gentle hand on my shoulder. I glanced back before taking in a deep breath. “We’re the fifth to go. Calm your nerves.” This time, he placed his other than on my other shoulder, proceeding to rub his hands up and down slowy and soothingly, which instantly calm me down. “I’m trying.” I whispered.
The two of us waited anxiously backstage as we counted the number of performers going up on stage. Now’s already the forth and we’re up next. Our names got called. Before we headed up on stage, Taeyong held my hand, interlocking his fingers with mine for a short moment before flashing me a smile and letting go, proceeding to walk forward as I followed behind.
The music played and we started to perform. The lights on the audience shined brightly and I could see everyone’s faces. Of course to calm myself down I kept my eyes straight ahead. Everything went as how it should. Taeyong and I danced perfectly in sync as if we were made to dance together. Taeyong had to lift me up for a few counts, holding me by the waist. And one glance to the audience and I instantly saw Jaehyun sitting somewhere in the middle, his eyes looking right at me. I was shocked but I had to continue.
We ended the performance with a deep bow. I smiled widely at the audience, but I avoided Jaehyun’s eyes completely. Taeyong and I walked off stage. “That’s was amazing! You did so well!” Taeyong shouted as he pulled me into a tight hug. I hugged back and laughed, panting heavily as I tried to catch me breath. “You were great too, Taeyong.”
Taeyong pulled away from me. And as we were about to walk to the changing room, I felt a hold on my wrist. A tight one. I turned around, noticing Jaehyun right in front of me. He looked over at Taeyong before me. He didn’t say a word and dragged me away. I glanced back at Taeyong, his worried eyes making me want to release my grip off Jaehyun but I knew I can never since he was way too strong.
“What the hell do you want?!” I shouted when we finally came to a stop at a secluded and somewhat dark corner. “I can’t see you dance with Taeyong. I got jealous.”
My eyes squinted at his words, completely confused and bewildered. My mouth gaped open as I let out a scoff. “Jealous? Why should you be? We aren’t anything anymore. What’s my relationship with Taeyong have anything to do with you?”
“I don’t like seeing you with him, okay? Didn’t you ever think about how I felt when you’re always staying up late with him for practice? Or did you even think about me at all?” I grew quiet, struggling to even form a sentence of what to say.
“I don’t like seeing you with any guy.”
“You aren’t my boyfriend. You don’t have any say in who I hang out with.”
It was now his turn to keep silent, avoiding my eyes completely as he looked elsewhere. “You aren’t mine. But don’t you think we had something between us at all? It drives me nuts whenever I think of you. I had my reasons for avoiding you, okay?”
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “Sorry but I can’t handle any of this right now. I’m way too tired. Let’s talk some other time.”
With that, I walked off, trying to find Taeyong who just came out of the changing room with his outfit hung on his arm while he wore back his loose white tee and sweatpants. “You okay? I got worried.” Taeyong immediately rushed over to me and looked me up and down, concerned as to what happened just now.
“Yeah I am. I’ll go back to campus now. I just need some rest.”
Before taking a step, Taeyong stopped me. “Need a ride?” I shook my head.
“Thanks for the offer, but I much rather be on my own for now. I have too much on my mind.”
Tumblr media
“I know we be so complicated
Lovin' you sometime drive me crazy
'Cause I can't have what I want and neither can you.”
I ended up staying late at night, staring off into the ceiling while hugging my cat plushie. And all I thought about was Jaehyun. I could never get him off my mind no matter how hard I tried to force myself to sleep. I could be staying up since I didn’t have classes the next day but my body was too physically tired. Yet my mental state seemed to be wide awake.
The next morning, I stayed in my dorm, pacing back and forth in circles as I figure out what to do. Suddenly, the door opened, making me flinch in shock as I realised it was just Mark. “You look stressed. You nervous about the results?”
“My mind is all over the place, Mark. Jaehyun’s driving me crazy and I just-” I grabbed my head with both my hands, letting out a loud groan and I plopped myself on my bed next to Mark.
“Won’t it be easier to just settle things with him?” I gave Mark and unimpressed look. “We did. We promised to not see each other again.” I let out a dreaded sigh. “But he came up to me yesterday and now all I can think about is him.”
Mark swung an arm around me, clearing his throat. “Then just tell him to back off. Now and forever. I can’t see my friend going crazy because of some frat boy.” I chuckled shaking my head. “He’s not a frat boy.”
“Sure acts like one.”
I hummed, giving a moment to think it over. “How can I meet him today though? He’s working.” Mark raised a brow, facepalming. “You know he has a thing called breaks, right?” Mark deadpanned. And just like that, I made my way to the cafe where Jaehyun supposedly worked the afternoon shift.
I walked in, the bell above the door ringing to signal that someone has entered. I didn’t see Jaehyun brewing the coffee. I walked up to the counter, seeing a familiar face and decided to ask him where Jaehyun was.
“Hey, Jeno?” I called out to him gently, watching pouring his ready made coffee into a small cup. He looked up, instantly smiling brightly when he made eye contact. “Hey! Haven’t seen you for so long! Looking for Jaehyun?” I nodded, gladly thankful that he read my mind.
“He went out somewhere for awhile. He’s coming back soon. Want to wait here while I serve you some caremel frappe?” I exhanged his smile with mine, nodding my head eagerly. “You know me well, Lee Jeno.” I tapped my hand on the counter before walking off, taking my usual seat at the far corner of the cafe that’s out of sight from public eyes. I used to sit here when I would wait for Jaehyun’s shift to end before walking back to campus. It felt weird coming back here after avoiding it for so long.
After a few minutes, Jeno brings me my drink. I thanked him as he backed away and I resumed my waiting. I checked the time on my phone. Thirty minutes have passed and he’s still not here. Each time the bell rang, I instantly lift my head up only to find that it wasn’t Jaehyun.
Heaving a sigh, I leaned forward, my shoulder raising up as I continued to stare at the entrance. Finally, I saw Jaehyun through the window, walking to the door. But... he’s with a girl?
The door opened and Jaehyun walked in, the girl close beside him. She was wearing Jaehyun’s hoodie too. The plain black that he often wears. I kept silent, wanting to see where all this was going. Why was I feeling something? I shouldn’t be... right? I have nothing to do with Jaehyun, let alone his love life. Wait why am I even assuming that they’re together?
Jaehyun went up to the counter. He turned around to look at the girl. They were smiling and laughing together, which made the knots in my stomach tighter and my heart began to ache at the sight. As cliche as it sounds, I muttered a, “That should be me.”
The girl took off his hoodie. She was wearing a shirt under it. It seemed like she wanted to give it back but Jaehyun insisted on her keeping it, continuously shoving the hoodie back and forth till she threw it at him, kissed him on the cheek and ran out the cafe laughing. I frowned. I really didn’t like how this was going.
Jeno went up to Jaehyun, motioning to where I was seated. I instantly looked out the window as if I didn’t even see Jaehyun coming in and was minding my business. I heard his heavy footsteps walking up to me, and he sat down, dragging the chair closer to the table. “You didn’t say you’d be here.”
I turned my head and faced forward to Jaehyun, picking up my drink to take a sip, nodding my head. “I didn’t.”
“Who was she?”
I couldn’t help but ask. I was too eager to know. Too eager for something to confirm my suspicions, closure. “A friend.” Jaehyun said after exhaling sharply.
My lips form a thin line, my brows raising for a moment as I gave a “You sure about that?” expression with a hum. Jaehyun stared at me for a moment. I couldn’t read his face. “She’s just like Taeyong. Someone I’m working with for a project.” He said with simple directness.
Anger started to settle in, the tension between us growing tighter and tighter with each moment of silence in the air. “Your project partner comes waltzing in wearing your hoodie and giving you a kiss on the cheek? Some partner there.” I replied with sarcasm, nodding my head over and over.
Jaehyun cocked a brow, the side of his lips turning up slightly as he leaned forward, so close that our faces were a mere inch away from each other. “Now you’re jealous? That’s cute.” He chuckled lowly.
I blinked my eyes rapidly. Is he really going to do this right now? Despite me blushing slightly at him calling me cute. I couldn’t shake the fact that he was probably trying to get back at me and making me feel how be felt when I was with Taeyong.
“Why can’t I? You were jealous when I was with Taeyong too.” I blurted out, not sure if that was the right thing to say.
“You aren’t my girlfriend, and I’m not your boyfriend. But we can’t see each other with anyone else, or touch anyone else. We can’t have who we want either. Make an inference. Connection, hidden meaning.”
“Don’t bring the method to answering History questions into this.” I couldn’t help but laugh softly at his attempt to joke. I knew very well right now wasn’t the time, but I just missed it.
“Stress high when the trust low
Bad vibes, where'd the fun go?
Try to open up and love more.”
“Don’t you miss it?” Jaehyun asked, his face getting soft and gentle. He reached his hand out to mine, holding my finger with a light touch. Our eyes went down in unison, staring as our hands fit perfectly together.
“We’re complicated, indeed. We aren’t sure of who we are. And we don’t even know the reason for that. But doesn’t it all come down to whether we love each other...?” Jaehyun lowered his voice to a whisper, pur noses were now touching as I gulped, closing my eyes for a moment as I inhaled his naturally strong scent that not even his perfume could mask.
“I guess...” I started, breathing heavily. “I guess we’re just scared. I don’t know about you, but I can somewhat admit that I’m scared.”
“It’s been years, Jaehyun. Years since we’ve showed affection for each other yet we never seemed to get anywhere. But I liked it nonetheless. Despite the fact that we were just... stagnant.” I smacked my lips. “Or not perhaps I’d call it going back and forth.”
At that moment, I thought of us. Jaehyun and I. Years ago. When we first started. I met him here, at the cafe. I got addicted to him from first sight and I’d make it a mental note to visit him everyday and demand that only he should make and serve my orders. That’s how we grew close. Not on campus, but out. We kept our relationship like a little secret. But that was only for the fun of it; for excitement and thrill. I liked that about us. Being alone and only having each other. Turning back time was what I always wished I could do.
“I love you, _____. I missed us. When we were just happy. I guess this all started when I ignored you. I’m sorry for that. And you know I mean it.” Jaehyun couldn’t keep his eyes on me. He constantly looked down or avoided my gaze. He bit his lip intensely, as if trying to hold back tears.
“But if you would let me, I’ll explain it over dinner.” Jaehyun gulped, breathing in as his chest puffed up. I wasn’t quite sure of what to make of this. But in the end, my main goal was to settle this, on a good note. Whether I’d be with Jaehyun in the end or not. I just needed closure.
“Sure.”
Tumblr media
Jaehyun offered to meet me at a high end restaurant. Somewhere I’ve never been in years since I was just like any regular college student. Poor.
I didn’t know what to wear. And I guess my outfit seemed to lower itself a lot when I stepped into the restaurant. I glazed my eyes over the place, spotting Jaehyun at the far end wearing his usual all black shirt, jeans, and shoes. A combination that never failed to cup his masculine body perfectly.
“You didn’t have to take me to somewhere this expensive.” I said, sitting down. Jaehyun smiled softly in greeting. “It’s only slightly above average.” He commented.
We ordered our food. It was taking quite awhile to come. “Um.. I suppose I should be giving that um explanation to you now.” Jaehyun spoke up, his hands on the table with his fingers interlocking with each other. I nodded my head, pushing the glass of iced water that was served to us earlier on, bringing it in front of me and leaning forward to take a sip.
“My parents want me and Soo, the girl you saw at the cafe to get together. I honestly didn’t even know why. And I never cared either.” Jaehyun lowered his head, fidgeting his fingers. “And just so you know, I never had feelings for Soo. She has someone else. The two of us agreed that we’d still maintain our private lifes and not let it interfere us.”
I bit my lower lip. I could tell he was telling the truth, that he was being sincere. It made my heart soften. But I didn’t want to show it. I didn’t want to seem easy and to just fall for him all over again just from a simple explanation.
“Are you going to do anything to fight back against your parents about it?” I asked, not wanting to say silent throughout.
“I simply told Soo to do something about it since she would have more influence on them than me.” Jaehyun leaned in, again his hand creept up on mine. He held my hand in his, bringing it up slowly and planting a light kiss on my fingertips. A gesture that I only ever knew would feel this amazing because its him. He was the only person I’ve met to have such a gentlemanly feature.
“Can we slowly... get back to how we were? I know it’s my fault. I know you won’t forgive me immediately. Do whatever you want with me. Whatever decision you choose, I’ll just have to accept it.” Jaehyun whispered, his voice growing quiet with each word as he looked down to my hand and caressed it with his thumb. I could still feel his kiss lingering on the tips of my fingers.
I brought my hand up to his chin, lifting his head up and eyes off the table, forcing him to look me in the eye. I leaned in and kissed his cheek, letting my lips stay there for a long moment before pulling away. I could see Jaehyun smiling slightly at my touch. He thought he could cover it up with a cough, making me giggle softly.
“I’m not forgiving you just yet. But I do admit that I missed how we were two years back.”

Molly left that afternoon with two new numbers in her phone and a lunch date for next week.
“Can’t believe you are having lunch with my mother and sister without me.” Tom pouted on the way back.
“Once they heard I wasn’t working and didn’t know anyone, they insisted. Was I supposed to say no?”
“You could have scheduled it when I could come.”
“But you are so busy. And talented.” She poked his side.
“I’m driving here, darling.”
“Sorry, but just one question…” They pulled up to a red light.”
“What?”
“Are you ticklish?” she attacked his side and Tom squirmed and giggled.
“You will be the death of me.” He panted as Molly stopped when the light was green.
“Note to self. Tom is very ticklish.”
“No, no notes to self. That is something you can promptly forget.”
Molly batted her eyelashes. “But real husbands and wives would know these things about each other. We have to pull this off for an entire year, right?”
“Fine, but expect revenge.” Tom wagged a finger at Molly.
“I’ll sleep with one eye open.”
-
Over the next several weeks, Tom and Molly fell in a routine. The marriage certificate came in the mail and they applied for a family visa for Molly to stay there.
“I didn’t think you would want to become a citizen.”
Molly smirked. “No, not right now.”
A new debit card came in for Molly.
“With great power…” Tom handed it over.
“Yeah, yeah, Loki.” she tucked into her wallet. “I am burdened with glorious purpose. To keep you well fed.”
Molly had a standing date with Emma every two weeks, much to Tom’s consternation. They continued running together in the mornings. Tom, more often than not, ended it with a kiss.
“This is becoming quite the nasty habit, Mr. Hiddleston.” she commented one morning.
“Then stop me, Mrs. Hiddleston.” He pecked her lips again.
Molly blushed. “You just love what they are saying about us in the papers.” She pushed Tom away and towards the door.
“I will admit the good news is definitely a perk. Plus, you are such lovely company.” He went to hug her, but she pushed him away.
“You are all sweaty, Tom. Take a shower and I will make breakfast.”
“French toast?” he asked hopefully.
“You ate the last of the bread yesterday.”
“Pancakes?”
“I think I can swing pancakes, if…” She held up a finger. “You also eat a side of fruit.”
“Deal.” Tom headed towards his room wearing a huge grin.
Molly shook her head as she grabbed a mixing bowl out. “Lunatic.”
-
One morning, Molly wasn’t awake when Tom got up to run. She almost always beat Tom up, sipping a cup of tea in the living room, reading a magazine or one of the books from his shelf. There was a small stack building on a side table of the ones she finished reading. But that morning, no half-drunk cup of tea perched precariously on the coffee table. No crossword puzzle half done in pen.
Tom peaked into Molly’s bedroom. The covers, in colors of navy and grey, just like his, pulled up tight around her. There were a few prints of classic travel posters on the wall.
“Molly, darling.” He called out. Usually that was all it took to roust Molly from her sleep and get her going for the day. Today, nothing. Tom stepped into the room. He felt like an intruder in his own home.
“It’s time for our run, love.” He said a bit louder this time.
Molly rolled over, groaning and coughing. Tom’s brow furrowed. He didn’t like the sound of that cough. Tom sat down on the edge of the bed and rocked Molly gently by the shoulder.
“Are you feeling okay, darling?” He hoped it was just allergies or waking up in the morning. But then she woke up.
“Uggh, Tom?” Molly croaked out before rolling onto her back. She was pale. So much more pale than usual. She coughed again, covering her mouth.
“It’s me, Molly. Are you feeling alright?” He repeated. “That’s some cough.”
“I’m fine, fine. It’s just,” She waved him off and pushed up to sitting, only to fall back onto the pillows. “oh, that’s not good.”
Tom placed the back of his hand to her forehead and replaced it with his lips, checking her temperature. She was running hot.
“You have a fever. I’m making you an appointment to see the doctor.” He stood, but Molly caught his wrist. Her palm clammy against Tom’s skin.
“No! It’s just a cold. Go on your run. I’ll be fine. I just need some sleep.” She insisted.
“Are you sure? It’s no trouble.”
“Go. I’ll be fine.”
Tom leaned down and kissed her very warm forehead. “I’ll keep it short. Go back to sleep.”
Molly nodded and rolled over. Tom tucked the covers around her and headed out. He barely made it to the end of the street before he returned home. It confirmed his fears when he stepped back inside and heard Molly coughing. Tom grabbed the phone and searched for a number and called it.
“Yes, Urgent Care? Do you have any appointments today? Name? Molly Hiddleston. Thank you.”
-
Tom helped Molly get dressed, averting his eyes when appropriate. Her entire body burned under his fingertips, but Tom noticed her shivering. She stumbled to the car where she slept the entire ride over to urgent care. Tom did his best to fill out the paperwork.
“What do you put for family history?”
“Nothing. Unless there is a place for mental illness, then check that. That’s all I know about. Mom didn’t chat much.” Molly muttered, leaning heavily against Tom. “Meth does that…” Her brow furrowed and she coughed again.
“Shh, darling.” Tom soothed her. “Only happy thoughts.”
Molly hummed and smiled. “Happy thoughts.” More coughing.
It took twenty minutes before they called Molly back. They didn’t let Tom back with her. He alternated between sitting with a bouncing knee, pretending to read on his phone and pacing the waiting room, making the other people nervous. After forty-five minutes, before Molly returned with several papers in her hand. She coughed again.
“Upper respiratory infection,” cough. “Along with a sinus infection and a viral infection.”
Tom smiled. “Triple threat. Let’s get you home.”
Molly’s hand, holding the papers, flopped up. “I have prescriptions and they want to see me again in two weeks. To make sure I don’t get pneumonia.”
Tom’s eyes widened. “That’s a possibility?”
Molly nodded. “It’s all in here.”
Tom took all the papers, skimming them, including a script for antibiotics as well as a cough suppressant. It all sounded grim. “Let’s get you to bed and I will take care of getting these filled.”
Molly coughed and nodded. “Thank you.”
She fell back asleep in the car. Tom carried into the house, not having the heart to wake her up again, and settled her into his bed, which was bigger, more comfortable and the bathroom was right there. Once she was settled and asleep, he headed off to the pharmacy. While waiting in line, Tom dialed Luke.
“Luke, is there anything absolutely pressing in the schedule for the next three days?” he asked after Luke picked up.
“Nothing I can’t reschedule, why?”
“Molly’s ill.” He bit his lips and sighed. “The doctors are afraid it might turn into pneumonia. And I…”
“Consider your schedule cleared until Monday. And tell her I hope she feels better soon.”
“Thanks, Luke. I’m worried about her.”
“That’s because you love her, Tom. You should worry about the people you care about. I mean, I worry about you all the time.” Luke chuckled.
Tom paused at Luke’s words but pushed it away. Of course he cared for Molly. That has the tendency to happen when you live with a person for nearly three months. Especially someone as congenial as Molly. Congenial wasn’t the word. Lovely. Molly was lovely. He laughed it off. “I worry about you too, Luke. I got to go.”
“Take care of her. Bye, Tom.”
After picking you the medicine, Tom popped into the grocery store and picked up some soup, drinks, and Molly’s favorite cookies. When he got back, she was still asleep. And still coughing. He put away the groceries and then checked on her.
“Darling, I’m back with the medicine. Time to take it.” He helped her sit up, Molly groaning the entire time. She swallowed the pill with a sip of water, gagging.
“That’s awful!” she coughed.
“Now the cough medicine.” Tom poured out the cough syrup and handed it over to Molly. She hesitated, sniffing it first. “Take the medicine and get a biscuit.” He held up a package of cookies.
“They’re cookies. I thought I ate the last of them.” she moaned, downing the cough syrup. Her face contorted. Tom smiled and handed her two cookies. “Good girl. Now rest. I’ll check on you in a few hours.”
“Don’t you have work?” Molly muttered as she laid back down. Tom pulled the covers over her, putting the cookies on the nightstand. “You had… interviews… or something…”
“My schedule is clear through the weekend. I am at your disposal.” Tom rubbed Molly’s back, and she purred.
“You don’t need to do that.” She half-heartedly complained, dozing off.
“And leave you to fend for yourself? What kind of husband would I be? It was no trouble. Now sleep, darling.”
“Mmm… kay.”
-
Tom busied himself with absolutely nothing. He flitted from reading a book to watching a TV show to peeking into the bedroom. At one point, when Molly was particularly quiet, he seriously contemplated putting a mirror under her nose to just make sure he was still breathing. He managed to get her to eat half a bowl of soup.
“You need to eat, love.” he scolded.
Molly coughed and croaked. “Says the man who considers chocolate a food group.”
“Look at that, some humour.” Tom smiled. “Eat please.”
“Yes, sir.” She slurped the soup off the spoon before falling back asleep.
Tom, worried, did the unthinkable. He called his mum for advice.
“She’s coughing. A lot. And all she does is sleep.” Tom ran his hands through his hair.
“Is she eating, love?” Diana asked. Tom could feel the smile across the phone.
“A bit, but not as much as usual. I brought her soup.”
“Soup is good. And she is taking her medicine?”
Tom nodded. “I set a timer.”
“Of course you did. And the fever?”
Tom blinked. “What about her fever?”
“Has it broken?”
“I don’t—”
“Tom!” Molly’s bedraggled voice called out.
“I gotta go. She needs me.” Tom hung up the phone and sprinted to the room.
“Molly! What is it?” He noted she was shivering.
“I’m cold.” she chattered. Tom grabbed the blanket at the foot of his bed.
“Is that better?” He tucked it under Molly’s chin. Tom touched her forehead. Hot.
“Much.”
“I’ll let you rest.” He patted her shoulder and stood. Molly reached out for him.
“Stay.” She coughed. “At least until I fall asleep. Please lie down. Just five minutes.”
Tom’s heart broke in that moment for Molly. That confident woman he grew so fond of seemed so small in that moment.
“Of course, I’ll stay. Anything for you.” Tom crawled on top of the covers next to Molly. He laced his fingers in hers. He heard her exhaled, and he exhaled too.
“Sleep well, darling.” But Molly had already fallen asleep. Tom soon followed.
-
Molly woke the next morning in sweat soaked pajamas and on top of drenched sheets. She still coughed, but her fever was gone. As she blinked her eyes open, Molly realized she wasn’t in her bed, but Tom’s. And Tom was there too. Asleep next to her, fully dressed, holding her hand. She had vague memories of Tom bringing her soup and her asking him to stay. And some very not safe for work dreams.
“Fever dreams.” she muttered. “Tom…” Molly rocked his shoulder.
“Huh?” Tom sat up. “I guess I was more tired than I thought.”
“It’s hard to be a nurse. I think your sheets may need washing.” she smiled.
Tom pressed his lips to her forehead. “No fever.” His spirits lifted.
“It must have broken last night.”
“Feeling better?” he asked.
“Yes.”
Tom noticed their hands still laced together. He let go and stood up. He made a poor attempt at smoothing out his sleep wrinkled clothes. “Up to move to the couch? And maybe some movies?”
“I would like that.” She slowly sat up and got out of bed. “But first a shower.”
Tom frowned. “First medicine, then shower.”
“Nurse Ratched.” Tom didn’t smile or budge. Molly sighed. “Fine, medicine, the shower.”
Tom grabbed the bottles and dispensed the medicine, which she took still gagging. “And a biscuit.” He handed her a cookie.
“Cookie.” She popped it into her mouth and headed off to her room and Tom went to his own bathroom.
-
Once they were both showered and dressed, Tom popped his sheets into the laundry and made a makeshift bed on the couch for Molly.
“You pick the movie.” she offered. “That way if I fall asleep, you won’t be bored.”
Tom picked The Jungle Book. “One of my favorites as a child. I still watch it when I feel under the weather.”
“I don’t think I have seen it.”
Tom’s mouth fell open. “That is a travesty.”
Molly shrugged her shoulders. “You know, group homes, foster care…”
Tom stopped. “Well, we are going to watch this right now and you can listen to the vocal genius that is George Sanders as Shere Khan.”
“More of a vocal genius than you?” Molly raised an eyebrow while she settled onto the couch.
Tom blushed. “A man-cub, how delightful.” He purred deep in his chest, sending shivers through Molly.
By the end of the movie, Molly’s head was in Tom’s lap and his hand in hers. They watched Disney movies for the rest of day, alternating picking the title. Tom made sure she took her meds on time and ate more than just cookies.
“I will eat a meal if you do.” Molly chided.
They both ate soup and Tom also ate a sandwich. It was late when they finished up Robin Hood. Molly stretched and sat up.
“I should go to bed.”
“I can put the sheets back on the bed.” Tom moved, but she stopped him, squeezing his hand.
“My bed. But I will keep the door open so you can spy on me.” She smirked. “I can’t take your bed again.”
“It’s fine if you did. I don’t mind sharing.”
“I know but…” She glanced away. “We should keep our own space. To keep things from getting complicated.”
Tom nodded. “Right. No complications here.” he lied to her and to himself.
Molly hugged Tom tight. “Thank you for everything, Tom.”
“My pleasure.”
She coughed a bit as she headed off to her room. Tom turned off the TV and cleaned the dishes before going to bed himself. He spent most of the night tossing and turning.

Enchanted flames

Tumblr media
“If you have found this letter the Princess of Yuei needs your help. Meet me in the Enchanted Woods tomorrow night. Ill escape with you if you can save me from the proposed wedding - Princess [ ]”
With a sigh [. ] dropped the letter out of her window hoping someone, anyone , could save her from the doom that awaited her from an arranged marriage that had been planned from her kingdom to be to the neighboring ones prince, a smaller and very...purple hot headed boy by the name of Mineta who was unsavory for a lack of words. Sighing as she watched the paper fall she secretly wished her type of prince would come save her from this hell she expected.
As the night approached she slipped past her guards, telling them she was going out for air in her garden. The two towering men who looked down at her agreed, moving at the way to let the young woman past them and out into the halls, her dress dragging behind her as she headed out the giant doors to her garden. Taking in a breath she climbed over the perfectly managed hedges andddd off into the forest adjacent to the castle, roaming through the woods to her chosen spot to hopefully meet someone who could save her.
“Hello there little sheep, you called for help, correct?” A low, raspy voice called out as [ ] turned around , looking into the dark abyss in front of her. “ Hello? Helloooo? Who's there?” the girl called out as she heard something heavy land behind her. Turning to her right she saw bright blue eyes look back at her from the shadows. Before she could react a rather warm hand covered her mouth as the person or thing dragged her throughout the woods , the two of them slipping into the night. As soon as [ ] woke up her eyes adjusted to a dark but brightly lit and beautiful chasm, cyan and turquoise crystals of all types surrounded the room as she felt intense heat from everywhere around her. Standing up on shaky legs she felt eyes on her from behind. Letting out a deep breath she turned only to run into a barely covered chest.
Looking up from the revealed purple and pale skin , she saw those same blue eyes , lit with curiosity. “Ah you're awake..welcome little sheep to my...well..living quarters” The mystery man spoke as [ ] blinked at him, a grin spreading over his face as he continued to speak “Well i guess the princess doesnt know she isn't in her little castle anymore. Haven't those guards of yours realized they can't leave royalty alone or guys like me come along and take them out of their cute little homes” He said as [ ] gave him a suspicious look , her own thoughts taking over her face as a sense of calm rested over her features “Ohhh so you're the one who found my note..” She said as he gave her an unreadable look , soon walking away to leave the girl in her own world. “I guess he did” she thought to herself as she heard the male come back, a pile of things in his hands. “Here; a change of clothes and something to eat. I tried to be gentle taking you out of those dreaded castle grounds and through the woods but your dress isnt the smallest thing in the world” he said as [ ] let out a giggle , picking up the dark shirt and skirt he had given her along with the meal : some type of rice and meat with soup. Before she could ask the man answered “No i didnt steal it, i told you this is my home , its only natural id have something in this god forsaken place to eat.” He said as he pointed down the cave. “Theres a waterfall ahead if youd like to freshen up there.” And with that [ ] walked down the empty carved walls, finding the waterfall he was talking about.
Once she was finished getting cleaned and dressed she headed back the way she went, seeing the male now cloaked in a dark cape , fiddling with a pile of wood before setting it ablaze with a bright blue flame. “Ah i see you're finished , ILl be heading out , i'm gonna find us some more wood so you don't get cold. Theres a pot over there where you can reheat your food and get more if you like.” As he finished he proceeded to get up and head down another pathway, presumingly to the opening of the chasm “Wait!” [ ] called out as he stopped, turning to the girl with a questioning look back at her. “Yes princess?” he responded to her as she felt a unnatural wave of heat spreading to her face from simply calling her by her actual title. “What can I call you? And how long will you be gone?” She questioned. “Aw are you worried about me?” He cooed as she puffed out her cheeks “I was just curious” She lashed back as the male in front of her laughed , giving her a crooked smile. “ The names Dabi, and i won't be gone too long, an hour or so” Dabi said, giving her a smile as he started to leave again.
“Oh yeah , and there's a spare jacket in the back if you get too cold or that fire goes out.” and with that he left [ ] by herself as she finished up the dinner he had made which was exceptionally good, even better than what she tended to have at the castle. While she waited around for dabi to come back , [ ] looked at her royal dress, the red and pinks making her want to revolt as she pushed the fluffy tooled pile up into a blanket of sorts, covering her legs as she sat there thinking about her predicament “I really ran away...but what else can you do when youre gonna be married off to someone years older than you for land and alliance” she thought with a sigh as footsteps came from behind her , Dabi pulling his hood from his head as he smiled to himself at the girl in front of him “Im back princess” He declared as she turned to him, giving him a small smile as she stood up, dusting off her dress , coming up to Dabi “So...whatcha find?” She started as he pulled the bag from behind him , dumping out different goodies for the two of them. An array of food, wood and fresh buckets for water collections. “Here, this is for you too” Dabi said as he passed her a well woven balck dress, better than the two piece he had first given her. Taking in a deep breath he spoke up “I didn't want you to struggle with rags , so i got you something a little more comfortable and well...suitable for a run away princess” and with that she looked up to him and giggled which was heaven to his ears. ‘Why thank you Dabi..i'm flattered” [ ] said as she took the black dress , running to a hidden corner to change as Dabi smirked “Oh boy..what have i signed myself up for”
Weeks later and multiple posters for the lost princess later, [ ] had a rhythm living with Dabi. They cooked together and he left out to get things from shops ans out in the woods. Word spread that the princess had been stolen and the ugly grape himself had put a reward out for her safe return. Unknown to everyone she was quite content with the dark demon mage Dabi and his home in the woods. He explained the chasm as his work space, a place he could hone in on working with his flames and different elixirs that people needed. He was a half breed of human and demon, his father ridding of him to hide his affair with an otherworldly being, to keep the peace of his people and the overworld people as well. He really wasn’t a bad man, just someone who stayed in the shadows and kept to himself. And [. ] ‘s heart went out to him, as his did out to hers as she explained her own situation. ”Well damn sweetheart at least i saved you hm?” Dabi said as the two of them laughed together about their lives and what they'd like to change.
As the night drew on and they had their fair share of drinks and food that night “Thank you Dabi..for everything” [ ] said randomly as they relaxed by the fire he had started , [ ] wrapped into the oversized fur Dabi made her as the male laid against a log watching the tired girl mumble to him. She gave him a sleepy smile once he put his warmed hand on her face. “You're cute yknow...i'm not gonna let anyone get to you okay?” He said as she shook her head, moving herself closer to him , laying her head on his lap as he rubbed her head until she fell asleep, him soon realizing he was in love with the rogue princess in his lap.
As the next month rolled around , the princess and her demon mage had started a loving relationship, the two of them growing fonder and fonder of eachother. [ ] noticed that Dabi had tried avoiding being around her when she was fresh from the shower or even roaming too close behind her, he even took more time to come home with more ingredients or even sleep opposite to her. She didn't understand the switch from wanting to hold and hug her to avoiding her all day. One day she was able to catch and trap him with her. “Yes princess…?” Dabi ased as [ ] crossed her arms around her chest , the simple movement making him turn from her. “Did I..do something…?” She asked, her eyes bouncing between his as the turquoise she learned to love ignited with heat.
”Oh no doll...you haven't done a thing but make me want you even more..”
And with that comment her eyes widened. “What..?” She questioned. And with that Dabi picked the smaller girl up, pinning her to a crystal wall as she gasped, wrapping her arms around his neck.”Dabi…….?” [ ] called out as he started to kiss her neck ,running his rougher hands up the soft flesh of her thighs. “I think i'm in love with you doll..youve been invading my head or a while and all i can think about is making your cute little body want me the burning way i want you...I wanna make you cry out for me all night long...make you mines forever.....is that okay?” He whispered in her ear. With a shudder she agreed , letting him kiss the swells of her brest as he gave her a lopsided smile, picking her up and taking her to a pile of pelts and wool they made into a bedroom to rest in. Placing her down lightly he towered her , taking off his vest to reveal his toned and scarred body “Youre quite a beauty yknow...im glad you trust me…” He said with a smile as [ ] herself smashed her lips against his, cutting off his mushy talk. With a groan he pushed her dress up , letting her breast bounce out from the top. Pulling away from the kiss she helped him take off the dress over her head. With a shy smile [ ] covered ehrslf and laid back, spreading her legs lightly to expose her glistening lips to him
“Well damn, i havent even toughed you yet and youre this wet..what a little slut you are”
He growled out as he leaned back over to give her a kiss , pulling her lower lip as he licke dhis was down between her legs, giving her clit a hard suck as she whinned , closing her legs over his head as he slurped away at her pussy, making sure to watch her through hooded eyes, a tail whipping from behind him as a pair of horns appeared from atop his head, one mangled and cracked the other long and curled “Surprise” Dabi called out as his voice dropped octaves, it coming out as a low rumble as [ ] felt her walls clench at the sound , a chuckle coming from him. Going back to slurping and sucking on her labia and clit , Dabi watch with glee as the gilr under him started to shake, her hips rolling back to his mouth as he bit lightly down on her lips and pulled away from her , laughing at her pleas and whimpers “Turn sound baby and let me show you how much i love you” Dabi said , watching as [ ] rolled over arching her hips back as he smacked her ass, loving the moan she let out. Pulling down his pants he pulled his throbbing member out, rubbing it hard against her clit as she felt her heart jumped at the feeling of how thick he was. All of a sudden she felt hands pull her cheeks apart as a finger rub around the tight rings of her ass. With a gasp she looked back to see not one but two swinging dicks between the burning up male, a feral look in his eyes as he let a low rumble come from his chest “ Sorry babygirl..when I change there's more than just one of me to deal with, i promise i'll be gentle” He said as he rubbed her tight muscles just loose enough to put in the tip, her lower lips drooling as he slid his true size into her throbbing walls, moans and grunts tearing through the chasm as he pulled his hips back , starting to set a rhythm to his hips. While he picked up the pace, [ ] felt herself being full as the two dicks of his stuffed her. She could help the feeling of her walls getting tighter as she came once then twice and not once did Dabi stop, he laughed as he gave her more and more , pushing himself deeper in her as he let out what sounded like a howl of pain as he doubled in pace, reaching down to rub her clit as she screamed, soon feeling a hot and warm gooey feeling flood her senses. Dabi slowed his hips down as he pulled himself from her ass first, then from her pussy and cum started to leak from her holes.
“Shit...im sorry princess I didnt mean to go so rough…” Dabi breathed out as [ ] turned around giving him hr own lopsided smile as she saw him transform backto himself, those turquoise eyes softening as he saw the woman he had fallen for spent out from his own actions. “Geez when you said you were a demon i didnt think it was true…” She laughed as he scratched th back of his neck “Ive never transformed like this around someone….especially during sex but that means I trust you a lot….well doll..let me clean you up and then...we can go fro round two hm?” He smirked as he watched her pussy clench and relase more cum once he said that. “Mhm...clean me Dabi then we can have some more fun..”

Doing press wasn’t easy, especially when interviewers insisted on questioning you all separately. You preferred having at least one of the boys to back you up. They’d been dealing with the whole interview process for so long now they knew how to avoid answering things they didn’t want to, knew how to deal with rude reporters. But it was all new to you. Perhaps that was why this particular interview had gone so badly. There was no Freddie to make the right snide comment, no Roger to get pissed off on your behalf, no Brian or John to squeeze your knee comfortingly or take over when you go tongue tied.
Things between you and the rest of the band had been going much better since Freddie had locked you in that room together. It didn’t happen overnight, there were still lingering tensions. But any badmouthing they did of you was out of your hearing which you much preferred. Gradually, as the tour wore on, there were less tensions. They got used to having you around, began including you in their games of scrabble and their not-quite-awake conversations over hotel breakfasts. Until one day, in the final leg of the tour, when Freddie admitted to you quietly that he hadn’t overheard any whispered comments for nearly a week. “And here I was thinking we’d never get there.” “Oh hush, darling, I told you from the beginning they wouldn’t hate you forever. Sure they took a little longer to come around than I had anticipated but it all worked out in the end. And now when you tell them the execs have asked for another full album featuring you, they probably won’t kill you.” They hadn’t, of course, though you’d worried for the safety of everyone involved in making the decision. Roger looked as if he were a second away from punching the first person to talk to him.
They took less time to calm down though, especially after they saw how nervous you got before the first interview. Your agent had decided some preliminary press would help build excitement for the album before the songs were even written. Calls were made, journalists were found, and before you knew it you were facing a crowd of people vying to ask you their questions, cameras flashing the whole time. It was a lot. More than pushing you into the deep end, you’d be thrown to the bloody sharks. Any lingering ill will the boys had for you vanished after that. They’d all thankfully been there too, had drawn the attention to themselves rather than let you struggle to answer everything on your own. After that they’d kept an eye on you during the smaller interviews. Mostly the reporters were happy to talk to you all together and, as long as you said one or two things about how excited you were to be working with Queen again, and how much fun touring with them was, you could get away with letting them take lead. But every now and then you got stuck with some jackass who wanted to quiz you solo. And this interview, this horrid interview, had been one of them.
Roger pushed the magazine away from himself, letting it slide as far down your kitchen table as it would go. “She’s a fucking bitch that reporter.” You looked down at the magazine, still open to your interview, the headline alone making your stomach turn. “No, sorry, that’s an insult to dogs. She’s a fucking cunt.” “Rog,” “No, that’s an insult to vaginas. There is no word strong enough for that poor excuse for a journalist.” “Roger, sit down.” Roger shot Freddie a dirty look but sat down anyway, his knee bouncing with restless energy, “Sorry. I’m just pissed off.” “Yes, we gathered that, thanks Rog,” “She took everything I said out of context, you have to believe me.” “We do, Y/N, we do,” John said softly from beside you, rubbing circles on your back. “It started well, I swear. Just the usual questions y’know, what’s it like working with Queen? How does it feel to be singing next to Freddie Mercury? Were you nervous about touring with them? Can you give us any hints about the new album? All the things that usually come up that Freddie coached me on how to answer, and I was doing fine. I had my prepared answers and there was no stumbling over words or anything like that. I thought I’d finally got the hang of it all and then she asked me to elaborate on what it was like working with you. I’d already told her the usual thing – it was fun and y’know blew my mind and all that. But then she asked how it compare to being your groupie.” “You didn’t answer her did you?” “Christ no, Brian! Jesus what do you take me for?” Brian held his hands up in apology. “I told her that it wasn’t relevant, but she kept asking, one question after another thrown at me and no matter what I said she didn’t stop. All sorts of stuff, like which of you was the best shag, and if I’d only wanted to be your groupie because I hoped it would lead to my own album, and if I was still offering my services,” you made air quotes around the words, “accused me of using you for my own gain and asked if you were the first band I’d tried it with or if you were just the only ones gullible enough to let me. I tried to tell her no and that I wasn’t going to answer those questions but she just kept going and then she told me to get used to the attention and left. I guess she didn’t need my answers to write a whole article about it.” “Which of us is the best shag?” Brian repeated the question though you suspected he wasn’t just checking he’d heard you correctly. The others all fell quiet, waiting to see if you’d answer. “Really Bri? That’s what you got from that?” “Right, right, sorry, not the important part. Look, it’s not as bad as you think it is.” “Bri’s right, love,” Roger said, much calmer than he had been before, “there’s nothing of substance in here. Like this quote, as for the fun Ms Y/L/N mentioned was had on tour, one can’t help but wonder just what she meant. Could the stories about nights spent playing boardgames be covers for debauched, drug-fuelled, orgies the likes of which would make a pornstar blush, I mean, there’s nothing there. It’s all conjecture and anyone worth a damn will see right through it.” “But some people will believe it,” “Maybe, yes,” Freddie said, “but it’ll blow over. We’ve all been in the same place you are at one time or another. If anything this officially makes you one of the band.” “Yeah, Y/N, it’s all just spiteful rubbish.” “Thanks guys, but I think I might just call it a day, go back to bed. Stay if you want, I don’t mind. But if you leave lock the door behind you.” You stood and headed to your bedroom.
The four boys stayed quiet until you were out of your room but you heard their hushed voices and hissed comments through your bedroom door as you pulled off your jeans and unclasped your bra from under the baggy jumper you wore. It took about five minutes before there was a soft knock on your bedroom door. “Y/N, can I come in?” You contemplated feigning sleep. “I know you’re not asleep.” You sighed and sat up, hugging your knees to your chest, “Fine, Roger, come in.” “Freddie’s gone to make some calls,” he said, standing just inside your doorway, hands in his pockets. “Calls about what? It’s out there now, there’s no getting it back.” “No but we need to make it clear to other journalists that those kinds of questions won’t be answered in any future interviews, and hopefully we can make sure that parasite never gets to come anywhere near us again.” “Isn’t that mean to parasites?” Roger chuckled, “getting over it already, see,” he sat on the edge of the bed and placed his hand on your covered knee, “I know this sucks, and I get that you’re ashamed, but I promise it’s not as bad as it feels right now.” “I’m not ashamed.” “What?” “You said I’m ashamed of it but I’m not.” “Oh. I thought-” “I’m a bit embarrassed because obviously I’ve never told my family what it is I got up to when I went to all those concerts and now they’re all going to know, lord knows some of them will believe the worst of it. And I’m pissed off that I didn’t stand up for myself more. I just let her keep cutting me off and talking over me when I should have told her to fuck off or at least called her out for being a prudish arsehole who probably only attacked me because she’s jealous I’ve fucked three quarters of Queen. And I’m annoyed that you’ve all been brought up in the article, and she’s questioning whether your good people just because you sept with me. I mean does she expect you all to be virginal saints or something? It’s just frustrating and yes, upsetting. But I’m definitely not ashamed.” “Huh, okay then.” “What?” “Nothing, just, we assumed you regretted sleeping with us.” “Lord no. It wasn’t planned, like she was insinuating, but seeping with you definitely helped me get my foot in the door with this whole music thing. And even if it hadn’t done that, it was still fun as hell and made me feel good. If I wasn’t fucking you I would have been out having mediocre sex with guys I met in pubs and I don’t care how much of a slut it makes me seem, but I’d rather fuck a whole band every single night and actually get off than have a disappointing drunk lay with a guy who’s never heard of the clitoris. Fuck, I’d still be doing the whole groupie thing now, and be perfectly happy with it, if Freddie hadn’t heard me singing that day. That night at the after party, that was heaps of fun.” “Give me a second would you,” Roger stood and walked to the door, giving you another glance before he turned the corner. You watched the doorway, not quite sure what to make of his behaviour but your questions were answered soon enough when he reappeared with Brian and John following. “So apparently we misread the situation,” Brian said, taking the seat Roger had just vacated. John sat cross legged at the end of your bed while Roger flopped onto the mattress beside you. “I can’t believe you’d think I regretted being your groupie. Have you met me?” “In our defence you seemed very upset, what were we meant to think?” “I had a shitty interview and got called a whore in a very public way, of course I’m upset. Doesn’t mean I regret anything.” “Yeah, that makes sense. Sorry, we should have realised. But we have a proposition for you. We actually thought of a way to cheer you up when we first saw the magazine this morning but then when we got here you seemed so sad and we didn’t want to make you more upset or uncomfortable,” “What Brian is trying to say is that we have an idea we think you might like.” “Jesus will you two stop beating around the bush?” “Shut up Rog, I’m getting there.” “Y/N,” Roger said cutting off the others before they could waffle any longer, “Would you like to fuck us again?” You almost choked. “Zero tact. What he means is, we thought we could cheer you up. All three of us, entirely focused on making you forget that magazine.” “Wait, I’m confused,” you massaged the bridge of your nose as you tried to catch up to them, “you saw an article that called me a whore and thought it would cheer me up to, what, be your shared fucktoy again? Yeah it was fun but-” “No, no, no, that’s not what we mean,” John said, “you’d be in control of how it all happens. It wouldn’t be like last time.” “So, you’d be my whores?” “I guess?” “The point is,” Roger chimed in, “we want to make you feel better. If that means making you cups of tea and buying you a box of chocolates that’s fine. But it could also mean you having three cocks and all the orgasms you can handle.” You looked from Roger to John to Brian and then back again, trying to work out if they were joking or not. But they all seemed sincere enough for you to actually think about their proposition. It wasn’t what you were expecting to hear from them, and it hadn’t crossed your mind until they mentioned it. But now that they had, you had to admit it sounded fun. Last time had been fun and that was when you’d been passed around and used mercilessly, so having them all again, but with a bit more say in how it happened, could only be better. Plus, part of you wanted to prove how unashamed of your groupie history you were and what better way than this? “Okay, I’m in.”
“Do we need to set any ground rules?” Brian asked. “You all know my safeword,” “Saxophone,” You laughed at the chorus of eager voices, “Yes, exactly. Other than that I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. Not like this is new exactly, is it?” “Well, no, I s’pose not.” “Exactly. And if there’s anything I don’t want I’ll tell you. So you’re,” you pointed at Roger, “going to kiss me now, while you two undress,” “Getting right to it, excellent,” Roger laughed, as he pushed himself closer to you. He didn’t waste any time, leaning in to kiss you right away. It started off a little too soft for your liking but as soon as soon as you made it clear how into it you were, kissing him back harder and pressing yourself closer, Roger reciprocated. His hands wandered down to your chest as you felt Brian and John get up, following your orders, their clothes left where they landed on the floor. Roger’s hands were soon replaced by Brian’s as he knelt behind you, and you found your head being pulled around so he could kiss you too. Roger took the opportunity to undress as Brian and John caught you between them. You couldn’t tell who was removing your clothes, only that once your jumper had been pulled over your head John was kissing you. He leaned back, tugging you along so Brian could pull your underwear off, his hands caressing your bare bum. “How do you want us?” John asked, brushing your hair back behind your ear. “Um,” you looked around at the three very naked bandmates waiting for your word, “One of you is going to eat me out. Don’t care who but I am going to cum.” “Yes Ma’am,” John laughed, lazily saluting you before rolling you onto your back and shuffling down between your thighs. You were taken by surprise when you felt his tongue run between your lips, expecting nips on your thighs and the teasing puff of his breath as he hovered just out of your reach. But he was clearly taking the job of cheering you up seriously. Brian and Roger weren’t any different, settling into the spaces on either side of you, their light touches only enhancing the feeling John had set off. You felt their fingertips on your breasts and in the ends of your hair, tugging just enough to send a shiver down your spine but not enough to make you gasp in pain. “So what would you like from us, love? What dirty little fantasies are going through your head right now?” Roger tapped his finger on the middle of your forehead. You opened your mouth but a small oh as John latched onto your clit replaced the words you’d been intending to say. “Think we’re going to need a little more than that, Y/N. C’mon, tell us what you want. Do you want us to just take turns fucking you, filling you up over and over and over.” “Or are you thinking more along the lines of last time? Taking two at a time because one cock isn’t quite enough for you now?” “Try three,” you managed to get out as you slid a hand into John’s hair to hold him in place, “want you all at once.” “Jesus,” Brian swore, dropping his lips to your neck. “I’ve been a piss-poor groupie considering the stories that reporter’s peddling. Everyone’s going to think I’ve been taking all three of you at once constantly, but we’ve never actually done that, have we? Might as well embrace my slut title and change that,” “Let us work up to it, Love” Roger said softly, recapturing your lips as he rolled your nipple between his fingers. You whined, partly from Roger and Brian’s attention and partly because John raised his head, your hips rising slightly at the loss. “Guess I should start stretching you out then,” he said offhandedly as he licked his fingers, the same way you’d seen him do a hundred times before while playing. You couldn’t stop the moan that rose up in your throat, the sound only making John chuckle against you as he lowered his head and resumed his focus on your clit.
It only took a few more minutes to have you swearing through your first orgasm. The two fingers John had inside you enough to send you over the edge as they brushed against every sensitive spot they could reach. Your neck tingled where Brian had marked it and your nipples were stiff peaks, extra sensitive to cool air after he and Roger had delighted in torturing them with teeth and tongue and fingertips. “How was that?” John asked, slowly withdrawing his fingers when he was satisfied you’d finished. “Fuck,” was all you could say, the three boys laughing, John dropping a kiss to the inside of your thigh. “Think you can handle more?” “Actually Bri I think I might be done,” “Oh. Really?” “I’m kidding.” “Thank Christ. I’m so fucking hard there’s no way I could get my pants back on anyway.” You laughed and pushed yourself to sit up, “Poor thing. I suppose you can use my cunt for a bit.” “Classic guitarists always getting first go,” “Shut it drum boy, I was about to offer to blow you but if you’re going to be like that,” “No, no, I didn’t say anything.” “He did Y/N, I heard him, blow me instead,” “Ignore Deaks, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” “Like a couple of – oh!” you were cut off as Brian grabbed you round the middle and wrenched you onto your hands and knees, “children. A little warning next time please,” “Sorry,” Brian leaned forward to kiss your back as his fingers trailed up the inside of your thigh, “but if I didn’t move this along we’d be stuck arguing about who gets to blow who forever.” “N-no we wouldn’t,” you stumbled over your words as Brian’s long, talented fingers pressed into you, “I made up my mind, Rog in my throat.” “What about me?” “Don’t worry Deaks, you’ll get your turn. If you want you can spank me though, or bite me or pull my hair or whatever else you can think of. You know my limits. Also we’ll need lube so if you want to go digging through my bathroom draws and find some you can. Might be a reward in it if you do.” “Spankher, please,” Brian nearly whined, “always makes her cunt so tight.” “Think I’d rather claim that reward thanks” “Alright then I’ll spank her,” “Guys! Can you stop arguing. I have holes enough for all of you, that’s kind of the point of this. And, Brian and Roger, if I don’t get both of your cocks deep, deep inside me within the next thirty seconds I will kick you both out and let John have his way with me on repeat.” A moment of silence accompanied your statement. You saw Roger, eyes wide, look over at John and then to Brian, and could only assume they were returning his dumbfounded look. “Twenty-nine, twenty-eight, twenty-seven,” Roger blinked as if waking from a daydream and hurried to kneel in front of you, one hand gliding over the length of his cock as the other reached for your hair. Your mouth fell open in a gasp as Brian suddenly filled you, holding your hips tight as he bottomed out, which gave Roger enough opportunity to push himself towards the back of your throat. There was a shift in the mattress as John got up but you were a little too preoccupied to hear the door open and shut or the sound of him rummaging through your bathroom. You only realised he’d returned when a sudden, loud spank hit you and you knew Brian’s hands were still occupied with your hips. For their parts, Roger and Brian were keeping you busy, skewered between them, not sure whether the noises coming from your own throat were moans or gags or wordless begging. Brian breathlessly laughed as John spanked you again, “So fucking tight. Bit harder?” “Y/N?” You made an assenting humming noise and nodded as much as Roger’s cock would allow which John rightly took as permission and so hit you again, harder than the last.
It was an intoxicating feeling, taking two cocks at once, all the while wanting more and knowing you’d have it before long. Brian fucked you hard and precise, as if his goal was to split you open from the inside out. Had it just been him and you alone you would have found yourself creeping further up the bed. It had happened a few times before, leaving you either hanging off the edge of the bed, or with your hands over your head and pressed against a wall in an effort to keep from banging your head. But all he managed to do was push you further onto Roger’s cock, making you gag and choke more often. Roger didn’t seem to mind that though, giving as good as Brian, firmly gripping your hair so that you couldn’t even attempt to move off him. The added impact from John’s hand just made you shiver and moan. He was the one who sensed you were getting close though, reaching under you to rub your clit and give you the extra push you needed to get over the edge. Brian wasn’t too far behind you, groaning as he tried to keep fucking you, his hips faltering as he twitched inside you and spilled his seed. You felt his hands on your backside as he spread your cheeks, leaning down to spit on your arsehole before he pulled out of you. Once Brian was finished with you, you tapped Roger’s thigh and he pulled back. “You okay?” he asked, stroking your cheek with a knuckle. “Brilliant, just thought that since I can move a bit easier, I’d take over. You look like you were close.” “Fucking yes I was close,” You giggled as you readjusted your position to be more comfortable, once again taking Roger’s cock between your lips. This time you pushed yourself lower, taking him deeper, making Roger swear above you. You pulled back again, hollowing your cheeks until you sank down once more. A strangled moan seemed to catch in Roger’s throat and it spurred you on. You reached out to cups his balls, massaging them in your hand as you took him as deep as you could and hummed. The hum turned into something akin to a squeal (though slightly muffled and choked off at the end) as the sticky cool of John’s lube covered finger teased your arsehole, tracing circles around it before slowly sinking into you. The sight seemed to be enough to finish Roger off, one hand on the back of your head to steady himself as he shot his load down your throat, pulling out towards the end so the last of it dribbled down your chin. “Now me?” John asked, pushing a second finger in with the first as Roger let you go. “Stretch me out a little more and then yes,” “Oh, no, I’m not ready for that yet. I want your tits.” “What?” “Your tits, Y/N. Turn around,” His fingers left you and you were free to move, shuffling on your knees to face him. John pressed down on your shoulder pushing you to sit back on your knees and adjusting your angle so he could slide his lubed up shaft between your breasts. He pushed them together with his palms and slid them up and down his dick as he rutted against you, spreading the sticky lube over your chest. With a slight smile at John, you  dipped your head a little and kissed the tip of his cock as it moved towards your lips. “Fuck, been waiting so long for this,” he groaned, “gon-na make a mmm-ess all over you.” He gave up on speech as he neared his released, communicating exclusively in grunts and increased speed until he finished, covering your chest and sternum in ropes of cum that dripped down your skin.
You laughed as John fell back. The hardest you could remember laughing in a while. “What’s so funny?” Brian asked, reaching out to rub your shoulder. “Just thought what that reporter would say if she could see me now, naked and dripping in spunk,” you managed to get out between giggles, “her face would be fucking priceless.” The boys laughed along with you, glad you could see the funny side of the situation with the article. “Does that mean you’re feeling better?” “Yes Rog, but I’m still not done with you.” “What did you have in mind?” “Well,” you crawled over to where Roger was sitting, leant back on his hands, and placed your hand on his throat, tilting his face away from you a little so you could lick a long stripe from his jaw to his temple, “I meant it when I said I wanted all of you.” “Never doubted it, love,” he sounded a little breathless. “Just let me know when you’re all ready to go again. Not you Rog, I can see you’re ready.” “I’m good too Y/N,” “Yeah, same,” “In that case,” you shifted your position, lining yourself up with Roger and sinking down on him, squeezing his throat a little harder as you adjusted. “John, you still got that lube?” “Yes, uh, yeah here,” there was the sound of a cap flipping open and you leaned forward encouraging Roger to lay back so you could give John better access. “Hey, Rog, can you spread your legs a little wider,” “S’pose so, just don’t kneel on my bollocks or anything,” “God give me a second, the thought of that just made mine try and jump up inside me,” You giggled as John shuffled closer, using his fingers to spread some more of the lube over you and to keep stretching you out. “What about me, Y/N?” “I haven’t forgotten you Bri. I want every inch of your cock shoved so far down my throat I can feel you for a week. Just let me get used to the others first, yeah? Still feels kinda odd having two of you at once since we’ve not done it much.” Brian nodded, contenting himself with running his fingers through your hair as he waited. John, having pulled his fingers from you and slicked up his dick with more lube, sank into you slowly, his hand on your back to keep you bent forward. It suddenly felt hard for you to pull in a new breath as you tried to adjust to the feeling of both of them, especially when John gave an experimental thrust, fucking you slowly to make sure it felt okay for everyone. Brian talked softly, reminding you to breathe and telling you how well you were doing, until you were better in control of your lungs and ready for more. “Are you sure you want me as well?” “Yes. Lets show that parasite just how far I’ll go, huh?” Roger laughed, “that’s the spirit.”
Brian didn’t need more convincing than that, though it did take a little trial and error to find the best way to accommodate all three of them. Brian tried perching his arse on the headboard but Roger whinged about “seeing nothing but Bri’s ballsack flopping about. And I know you see things when you’re gangbanging but that is too much.” In the end Brian stood next to the bed by Roger’s head, enough to the side that Roger’s view wasn’t impeded but still close enough so that the angle wouldn’t strain your neck. He gathered your hair into a messy ponytail as he pulled your mouth onto his cock, letting you work yourself further down his shaft as slowly as you needed, checking in with you every now and again to make sure you could take more. The other two were mostly still as you adjusted to Brian, though once or twice they’d given a small thrust or shifted slightly and made you whine. Once you had Brian buried as deep in your throat as he could go you paused for a few seconds and then pulled back again, strings of saliva breaking on your lips. “How was that?” “Good,” you gasped, “New. Kinda weird but very fucking good.” That didn’t really explain anything but you weren’t sure how to describe the nearly overwhelming fullness, the sudden heat, the tension in your belly which you couldn’t pinpoint as either anticipation or nerves or just because you were stretched open on three cocks. “And that’s without us doing anything,” “I know,” you grinned, “I’m excited. Why didn’t we try this sooner? But now you guys can cut loose. I’m not sure I’ll be much use in like riding you properly or whatever. Just don’t know my brain can focus on keeping both of you in my holes while I’m thinking about blowing Bri well. So, just fuck me however you can and we’ll see how it goes.” “Don’t worry, we’ll make you feel good,” John said, rubbing your back softly. “Yeah, course we will, love. And if ends up being shit then we can just take turns instead,” You nodded and took a deep breath before leaning forward to take Brian again. You controlled the pace once more, bobbing up and down his shaft, sucking on his tip, as the other two figured out their rhythm. It was a strange sensation to start. It felt clumsy and more than a little awkward, especially when John mentioned how he could feel Roger inside you. But that eased as they adjusted and worked out how best to fuck you. John held your hips as he plunged into you, each thrust harder than the last as his confidence rose and he found out what you liked most. Roger’s hands moved over your skin rather than staying in once place, palming your breasts and teasing your nipples between his fingertips before sliding down your side to grasp your waist and then back up to your breasts. You were rocked on his cock with each of John’s pounding thrusts, which only made you moan around Brian’s. You let instinct take over there, one hand stroking from his base up to meet your lips as you swallowed him deeper. His hips jolted when you whined or moaned and before long you dropped your hand away from his shaft, instead grabbing his arse to keep yourself steady. He pulled you off him again and you could feel the spit on your chin. “Forgot what a fucking incredible cocksucker you are.” Brian groaned, “But can I take over? Fuck your throat?” “Yeah, okay,” You had time for another breath and then you were pushed down again, right to the base. “There we go,” he groaned, pulling on your hair, “Gonna make you feel so fucking good.” Your hum was choked off and ended in a gag as Brian ground his hips into your face. That seemed to be the tipping point though. The moment all three of them forgot about awkward views or who was positioned where and became entirely consumed with fucking you deep and hard. You were glad to let them lead, grabbing you, pinching and pulling and squeezing every inch of you they could reach. And all the while spearing you on their dicks, keeping you in a cycle of mounting pleasure as they found all your most responsive spots inside and out. You felt your orgasm building again, the heat rising, getting more urgent as you got closer and closer. The sounds you made were muffled by Brian but that didn’t stop you making them, moaning with every pounding thrust. As you neared the edge Brian pulled you off his cock so they could all hear you properly, their encouragement mixing in your lust addled brain and creating a wall of noise that pushed you over the edge with a loud cry. And yet they didn’t stop. Brian waited until your orgasm was reduced to aftershocks that made you wince and whine and then cut off your air as he entered your throat again, resuming the long, deep strokes that made you gag until he came, holding you down as he emptied himself completely.
As soon as the other two didn’t have to worry about giving Brian access to your mouth they adjusted your position, John pushing on your back until you were bent over. Roger attached his lips to your throat as they simultaneously fucked into you, the change of angle pushing Roger’s cock against you in a way that had you seeing spots. You cried out again as Brian lay a slap on your arse. “Fuck, fuck, fuck,” John grunted as he came too, unable to hold out any longer though he didn’t withdraw from you either. His hips slowed a bit and he whined softly but he kept fucking you. “Rog,” you panted, trying to get him to finish too. “You’ve got another one in you, c’mon love,” You whined but nodded, the familiar sensation already tightening in the pit of your stomach. Again the three of them encouraged you, John wrapping his hand around your waist to find your clit, Brian reaching under you to squeeze your breast as his other hand came down on your arse again. They gave you no option but to cum, shivering between them. Finally Roger let go too, moaning into your ear as he filled you up.
It took a moment to disentangle everyone, John being careful not to go too fast and hurt you, but finally you were able to collapse together, sweaty and panting, spread out over the room. “So, cheered up now?” Brian asked from where he’d lain down on the carpet You peered over the edge of the bed at him, “Think so. Thanks for that, it was fun.” “Any time, love,” Roger chuckled from the end of the bed, patting your knee, “and I mean that.” “I’m not you groupie anymore,” “Never said you were,” “Then what?” “What Rog means,” John cut in from where he’d spread out on you window seat, “is that if you ever need cheering up or to let out some frustrations, we’re here. We’re happy to help,” “Does your help always involve a gangbang?” “Not always,” Brian laughed. “Well, a lot of the time,” Roger added with a wink. “I’ll keep it in mind,” you chuckled, “I’ll have to face my family at some point and there’s a high chance I’ll leave upset and frustrated so, we’ll see. Wonder how Freddie’s getting on with those calls.” “I’ll go give him a ring and find out,” Roger said, half groaning as he stood and stretched. He didn’t bother grabbing any of his discarded clothes before he left. “I’ll take Rog his pants,” John sighed as he got up and replaced his own underwear, exiting the room with an eyeroll, Roger’s underwear pinched between his thumb and pointer. “And I’ll...stay here?” Brian said, “unless you need anything?” “Nah, I’m going to jump in the shower. Let the other two know that’s where I am, would you?” “If you’re doing that, can I have the bed?” “Sure Bri,” you laughed, “as long as you promise to change the sheets when you wake up.”

An End and a Beginning
Having survived Minion, Rosinante is reassigned to East Blue, where he and Law will start their new lives. 1700 words, CoraLives!Au, mild hurt/comfort, found family
-
“I’m ready.”
Law was seated on his bed, a full length mirror in front of him and a scalpel in his right hand. Neither was strictly necessary- neither the mirror nor the scalpel- but he insisted they helped. He really only needed to feel out the lead with his powers, not to see anything, but Rosinante could understand how weird it would feel to work blind, more or less. That he could still operate with everything flipped in the mirror only proved what a remarkable doctor he might have been had life been less cruel. Perhaps he still would be. Rosinante certainly hoped. Law would have his whole life ahead of him once this was finally over.
As for the scalpel, well, apparently it worked as a sort of focus for the Ope-Ope to work through. It made Rosinante wince, made the whole thing seem more like a normal operation, but it was infinitely preferable to the sword Law had first suggested using. Apparently the boy already had ideas on how he might use the Devil Fruit to fight. Rosinante had to draw the line at practicing that on himself. It was bad enough Law had to operate on himself.
“Ready,” Rosinante repeated. He nodded and looked down at Law a moment more. He wouldn’t stay. He never did, not after the first time. Law insisted that it didn’t hurt but Rosinante couldn’t bear to see him like that. It looked too close to dying even if it was more like the opposite. “Right. I’ll be guarding the front door like always. Just right out there,” he said, knowing all the while it was more a reassurance to himself than to Law who was seemingly unfazed by the whole process. “If you need me, all you have to do is call for me.”
Law rolled his eyes. “I know, Cora-san.” He waved the scalpel in his hand menacingly. “Now get out of here. You’re distracting.”
Rosinante nodded and promptly tripped over his own feet on the way to the door. He caught himself on the door handle and smiled sheepishly back at Law who only scowled in return. He found his usual seat outside the room with a heavy sigh. One more operation and this would all be behind them.
For as much as he himself had told Law that the fruit wasn’t magic, he’d somehow imagined this would be over with one miraculous wave of the hand. Law would awaken to his new powers, find the lead in his veins and pull it all out in one go. Instead, it had been staggered over the course of weeks. Law had needed to learn how to use his powers and then they’d both found just how much energy it all took. The real delay came, Rosinante would admit, had come at his own insistence. He hadn’t been around for the first attempts at operating, since he’d been held up on Minion while Law went ahead to Swallow. Law himself had been tight lipped about how that had gone but from what he’d gathered from the other boys that had been there, there had been blood loss. Just how much he’d never know. In his opinion, any was too much.
Rosinante shook his head to get that particular image out of his head. He patted down his pockets until he found his cigarettes. He flicked at his lighter with a trembling thumb and nearly caught his hair instead of the cigarette with the resulting flame. He sucked in deep and let out a long, smoke filled breath. His eyes slid closed. He needed to focus on the positive. This would all be over soon. Already, life was coming back with a flush in Law’s skin. It would be a while before the patches in his skin would be gone completely but sunny Windmill Village was doing a lot to help vitality along. Law was healing. They both were.
He’d have to find a way to thank Sengoku and Garp. Maybe he’d just send food and drink along under the guise of souvenirs. At least Garp was likely to accept. Sengoku was still pretending that sending a Marine Commander to such an out of the way posting was a punishment. Rosinante knew, though, just how many strings the Fleet Commander likely had pulled to get him here. As important as the rulers of the Goa Kingdom might consider themselves, they didn’t really merit a strong naval presence.
“I’m done.”
The voice was quiet and weak enough that he nearly didn’t hear it but he was on his feet in an instant. He gripped the wall to keep upright and then stumbled in through the door. Law was seated just as he’d been before. If Rosinante didn’t know any better, he’d think nothing had happened. He did know better, though.
“Done? All done?”
“That’s what I said, you stupid clown,” came the expected reply. There wasn’t nearly as much bite in the insult as there once had been. Law fell back onto his bed. Rosinante took a worried step forward before he saw the smile on Law’s face. “But yeah, it’s all done. Not a trace of lead left.”
Of the two of them, Rosinante had most definitely been the more optimistic one about this whole process. Yet, here he was, unable to quite believe it. The past weeks had been so hard and the six months before that had been harder still. It felt impossible that they’d both survived it all and now would get to simply get on with their lives.
Law opened one golden eye and fixed it on Rosinante. “You think I’m lying to make you feel better or something?”
Rosinante gaped. The forgotten cigarette dropped from his mouth. He stomped it out with a yelp before anything was burnt. “No!” he insisted. “It’s just—”
How could he explain? But Law was smart. He got it even without words.
The boy sat up. “See for yourself.” He extended a hand and was surrounded in a sphere of shimmering blue. “Scan.”
That blue light intensified and shone in a path that followed the careful sweep of Law’s hand. Rosinante knew from previous experience exactly what Law was showing him. There was nothing. No lead. No lingering illness.
Rosinante’s face split into a wide smile. He could see Law biting back on a smile of his own as he threw himself back down into the bed.
“Told you, idiot. I thought you crammed that fruit down my throat because you believed in my medical skills.”
“I did. I do! But after everything…”
“Yeah. I know.” Law chewed on his lip and a complicated expression crossed his face. Whatever it was about, when it passed, there was only a smile left in its place. “I might’ve scanned three or four times before I called you in. Just to be really sure.”
“But it’s over.”
“It’s over.”
How many times would they have to repeat that before either of them believed it?
Law had let his eyes drift shut again. Rosinante took the opportunity to really look at him. He wondered what changes the next months and years would bring. Law was still rather small for his age. Rosinante knew he was hardly the best judge given he was, as Law would point out, rather larger than average himself, but the boy hardly had the look of someone on the cusp of adolescence. Hopefully without the constant strain on his body, he would be able to catch up with where he should be. Perhaps he’d never be as tall or as bulky as he might have been but only time would tell. Rosinante chose to hope for the best.
And then there was his skin. Amber Lead Syndrome was blessedly unheard of all the way out in a rural corner of East Blue but Rosinante knew Law was still self conscious. Every curious look or question about the white patches made him pull into himself. Although the people of Windmill Village had overall been very kind and accepting, Law would undoubtedly be more comfortable when his skin was clear of any lingering paleness.
Rosinante’s heart swelled thinking of that future. Maybe Law would start to open up more, find friends even. He knew Garp’s grandkids were about somewhere. And that was only the start of it. Law was smart, he was strong, and now he was healthy. The future was practically limitless.
Rosinante threw himself into the bed next to Law, causing the boy to bounce up into the air with a yelp.
“Oi! Watch what you’re doing, you giant oaf.”
Rosinante could only smile. He ruffled a fond hand through Law’s unruly black hair. “We should start looking at what medical training is available. There might not be anything somewhere so out of the way but there’s plenty of time. We can find you the best training. Go anywhere you want.”
Law rolled his eyes. “Give me a few seconds to breathe, would you? I only just finished getting rid of the lead and you’re already planning out my entire future.”
“Alright, alright. I’ll try not to get carried away. But…” Rosinante hesitated. He knew this was a sensitive subject given all the time Law had spent convinced he was going to die. Still, the boy needed to start looking ahead at some point. “Have you thought at all what you might want to do now?”
Law was silent a moment and Rosinante thought he had perhaps pushed too far. Then Law smiled. “I was thinking…” Rosinante propped himself up onto his elbows and waited. Law’s smile only grew. “Maybe I’ll become a pirate.”
Rosinante’s eyes widened. “What?” He swatted at Law, only to be easily dodged as Law hopped over him and off the bed. “You brat! You aren’t going to be a pirate.”
Law threw back his head and laughed as he continued to dance out of Rosinante’s reach. It was a boisterous, youthful thing that the blond couldn’t help but love the sound of. Law was still a brat. He would probably always be a bit of a shit but there would really be time ahead for him to grow. Mature. There was finally a future that both of them could see and Rosinante couldn’t bring himself to care at the moment whether that included Law turning pirate or doing anything else he might imagine.
