My experience with [band]
My experience with [band] and [band]'s management starts in April 2022. I had emailed the band's business email that used to be in their bio in December 2021, and in April 2022 I got a response. I had been asked if I was available within the next couple of weeks to come down to Brighton and do a photo shoot with the band. Management really liked my work, and wanted to work with me. I was asked to provide my rates and any expenses that would incur. I had asked if I would be at least credited for these images on social media (tagged etc ...), and management said that they could not commit to that at that time. This photo shoot did not happen.
I worked with [band] for the first and only time in January 2023 and photographed / videoed their set.
I was completely blindsided by the fact that this could’ve been a huge opportunity for me, and it could change my career completely. When I got the email inviting me to work with the band, I screamed and actually worried my parents for a few minutes. I agreed to terms that I shouldn’t have (not a full written agreement, but various statements in emails). In hindsight I had no clue what some of them meant (and I think the band’s management knew that).
There was no formal contract, only emails. The band would own my photos 'in perpetuity' and when I asked what that meant, they (management) said that 'the band have the freedom to use them however they please'. Making money off of my photos, and putting them on merch that they would then sell out of, was not mentioned. I was under the impression they would only be using the photos on social media as I did not get any clarification, even though I asked for it. I wanted to press for a more detailed answer, but I was afraid that I'd lose the job.
This was never about the money that I'd potentially make from having my photos on merch, it's that I didn't even know it was happening. I was also 'allowed' to upload '3-4' photos to my social media from the gig, even though they were my photos. I was stupid enough to agree with this. Again, I felt as though if I challenged this I would lose the job.
At the end of the show in January 2023 I was promised at least a couple of shows on the upcoming tour, as '[I was] great to work with. Such a pleasure.' I have no evidence that I was offered shows during that tour as it was said to me in person. I was then let down at the beginning of March (after multiple follow up emails) with 'I don't think there is the additional need for your services also' when I asked about discussing the tour. I was devastated.
I was offered photo passes* to subsequent Manchester gigs and I took them as they had no strings attached, and the band would not own my images (that's why you've seen a lot of them on my socials).
I met a bunch of well-known creators, musicians and photographers while working with [band] and they were all so very sweet. Some of which I am still in contact with today, and some I am good friends with. I am very grateful for this.
I fully support Shelby, she is so incredibly brave for talking about her experiences, and it's because of her bravery that I felt confident enough to share my experience - although very different in nature.
I fully believe that [band]’s management wanted to take advantage of fans who wanted to photograph [band]’s gigs. And pay them as little as possible with no consistency in pay between photographers or how many photos they were allowed to post. (This is my own opinion)
I am not the only one that has had a negative experience with [band] and their management as a photographer / creative, but those are not my stories to tell and if they want to comment then they will. Please don't speculate on who these people are or harass them on social media, they have every right to not want to talk about their experiences. Please respect everyone involved.
Massive love, take care of yourselves.
am
(*Photo passes are offered to press photographers and non-touring photographers. They shoot the first three songs from the photo pit and then leave. Either to go into the crowd for the rest of the gig, or leave the gig entirely.)
please do not edit this post or reblog, do not take screenshots and post this on twitter or any other social media platform, thank you.

The Story of Minglan
Oh, Minglan.
Tumblr media
This is what happens when you take the attitude of "It's no big deal if my husband sleeps with morally questionable other women." 🙄
I am fully on his side on this issue but I feel like hasn't done a good enough job of expressing just how disgusting he personally finds these concubines that everyone keeps trying to force on him. Minglan has been brainwashed by the patriarchy and it will take her a while to find her ground and feel secure enough to put her foot down, but what is stopping him from advocating for himself?
My guy, just say NO.
***
LMAO, he's the ruthless and stupid one?
Tumblr media
Chang'er's death is his fault? I cannot with this evil narcissist.
***
Fuck you.
Tumblr media
Maybe if your garbage ass had not kidnapped him, he wouldn't have gotten sick. And if he had, they would have been able to afford a doctor.
***
I hope he really rips her limb from limb.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The more I see of her and of Lin Qinshuang, the more valid I find Mo Ran for deep-frying fucking Song Qiutong.
***
Unfortunately, Minglan talked him out of torturing her to death 😕
***
LOL, let's hope that at least the piece of shit maternal uncle gets tortured.
Tumblr media
***
Please tell me we will get to see a beheading 😭
Tumblr media
I am so sick and tired of these people. They have been trying to murder Gu Tingye for fifty episodes now. I am so done 😭😭
***
I love it when cats make guest appearances in dramas 💙
Tumblr media
***
Hell person.

In general, I am not pleased with how this story has handled Manniang and her children. It all seems sanitised and on easy mode for Minglan because the true circumstances of him having this whole family before marrying her diminishes the romance as it is and making it any more realistic would probably have snapped a lot of people out of rooting for the main couple because they could no longer idealise it.
I mean, look at this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If this show was realistic, the odds are that Rong-jie, with a vindictive, abusive, neglectful biological mother who abandoned her like this, would have taken all that trauma out on Minglan because this is how kids tend to react in such situations. She would have given her stepmother hell because she was there and a convenient target, while the narcissistic, toxic, neglectful bio mother was not.
Also, killing Chang-er is the writers taking the easy way out because now they have eliminated Gu Tingye's eldest son and possible heir from competing with Minglan's children for the title and the wealth. It's such a cop-out. With Chang-er in the picture, the only way Minglan's children could inherit would be if Gu Tingye refused to acknowledge him as a son, which would absolutely destroy his image and tank the character in the eyes of the viewers.
This way, Minlgan's children get all the benefits without her having to fight for them at the detriment of Tingye's older children and Tingye gets to preserve his image of a doting and responsible father, putting all the negative connotations of his irresponsible first common-law marriage onto the evil Manniang. Gu Tingye and Minglan maintain their noble images and Manniang is scapegoated to enable this. It just leaves me feeling a lot of ick.
It may be unfair of me, but I respect the writing on this show a whole lot less because of these decisions. The truth is, overall, this drama is better written than 99% of other dramas so I feel extremely weird getting hung up on this and letting it get so magnified in my head, but I feel like the fact that the rest of this drama is so realistic and well-written works against them here. There are standards here that were set and I am expecting the rest of the story to proceed on that level, but these standards are no longer being met because meeting them implies compromising the untarnished image of the main characters. It is so convenient and such an obvious cop-out, that I genuinely feel swindled and somewhat salty about it.
***
So selfish and so fucking evil.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What did Rong-jie ever do to her?
She is the one who abandoned her, she's the one who took the boy out and caused his death. She will just blame anyone except herself for her shit selfish decisions.
***
WTF.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rong-jie is going to need so much therapy, which is unfortunately not a thing in Song Dynasty China.
***
Fucking finally, some good decisions.
Tumblr media
***
Oh, yeah, Xiaotao and Shito are definitely a thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
***
So gorgeous 🧡
Tumblr media
Definitely a potential reference pic.
***
She is the poster child for an untreated personality disorder.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm so glad I live in the XXI century where mental health care is available, not that it prevents a whole lot of people from still acting like this and blowing up entire lives.
***
Don't you worry, evildoer, your comeuppance is also coming!

BLADE_Princess
…I’m glad this AU idea came along, because I’ve been in WIP hell for so long…I really needed some reward doodles that I could actually feel motivated to draw~
So about 1 in 5 Kirby AU ideas takes shape as a game concept rather than a normal narrative, and this is one of those, the first one that’s JRPG-inspired. ^^ The main protagonists are a 5-member party of villains, but these two are the central characters, whose choices can affect the outcome of the story.
Blade The title character, who eventually becomes the most powerful in the group…due to a debilitating sickness that slowly destroys her mind and body. After losing her home, family, and entire civilization to similar strains of bio-magical warfare, she alone is resurrected by a strange wizard and his evil allies, and agrees to take part in their plans. During the story, Blade is continually confronted with memories of her past, and the destruction wrought by her happy family on the rest of the universe. She starts to wonder whether they all deserved to be exterminated, as her illness progresses and the idea that she should rejoin them consumes her thoughts. Meanwhile, she gradually loses control over her actions in the present, and in the end is torn between begging her adoptive father for help, or using the last of her self-awareness to take him down with her, for dragging her into this hell in the first place. +++ In this AU I really tried to break away from my usual depictions of the characters, and I think going from my usual portrayal of Dark Matter Swordsman as a classic “crouching moron hidden badass” to this more somber, sensitive character is probably the most dramatic example here. ^^; A little of that old characterization remains, however, as she’s not much of a deep thinker…she only joins the adventure because war is all she understands, and because Magolor really does remind her of her own father. Whether she remains fully loyal to him, or tries to choose a different path before the end, is up to the player, I guess. ^^;
Magolor The secondary protagonist, and the leader of the group. After his previous attempt at world domination centuries earlier, he’s back for a second try, and this time he’s assembled a whole team of formerly-defeated villains to help him out…including a strange alien girl that, until now, he had written off as a failed experiment. During the story, he comes to realize that the universe has changed a lot since his younger days, and that maybe his ultimate goal of taking it all for himself might not satisfy him as much as he’d hoped. Whether this shifts his priorities or makes him more hungry for destruction, desperate to feel something, is up to the player. And whether he decides to show concern for Blade’s suffering, or purposely take advantage of it to accelerate his plans…is also up to the player. ^^ +++ Since I’ve written so many Magolors over the years (I think I’ve done at least 10…I do have a problem, yes) I’ve formulated a basic breakdown of the essential aspects of his character: Charisma, Deception, Sweetness, Fury, and Bloodthirst. So every time I make a new Magolor, I try to emphasize different ones. For example, for Dream Alliance Magolor I downplayed Fury and removed Bloodthirst entirely, creating a very heroic and likeable version of him to serve as the main protagonist. This time, I’m going to downplay Charisma and remove Sweetness…so I’m sure you can guess what this version of Magolor is like. ^^; By default, he doesn’t really care about Blade, and reciprocates her concern for him only as far as it helps him manipulate her. I don’t think seeing her in pain would actually affect him emotionally (he’d probably just be wondering how much longer she’ll be useful…); what would get to him is her flipping the script and lashing out at him, even if she ends up backing down. Y’know, some tangible proof that his influence is having an effect on her, and that, in a strange way…she might be the only person left in the universe who still cares enough about him to truly be hurt by him.

how’d you turn it right around - oneshot
Tumblr media
Pairing: Marcus Pike x F!Reader
Rating: M
Summary: Marcus Pike is still reeling from his abrupt breakup with Teresa Lisbon when he meets you. The last thing he’s anticipating is falling for you.
Word count: 4,760
Notes: I’ve written fics post-Teresa, but this one I went into his psyche and what would happen if he fell for someone shortly after arriving in Washington, still raw and reeling from what happened in Texas. I wanted to give him some empathy in the form of this reader and have him take care of himself. The title and inspiration for this fic comes from the song Labyrinth by Taylor Swift. This fic is unbeta’d.
This fic is cross-posted to AO3 under the same name and my taglist can be found linked in my bio as well as my masterlist which is linked below.
Comments/reblogs appreciated.
Warnings: Heartbreak, falling in love, fear of falling in love, kissing, therapy, discussion of breakups, grief, implied/referenced sex, food mention, swearing
masterlist (main) || masterlist (marcus pike)
No matter how many times Marcus has told himself that it only hurts this much right now, he never fully believes it. He doesn’t know if he will ever get over the pain that Teresa’s choice has inflicted.
It’s been five weeks since Marcus has transferred from Texas to Washington. His apartment, originally rented to be a home to grow with Teresa as a couple, is now a place where he eats, sleeps and catches up on casework. He goes to work, does his job, and comes back home. He’s thrown himself into his job. Almost too zealously. Anything to distract himself.
In the time since moving to Washington, he’s made some friends. He’s tried to distract and distance himself from Texas and what went down there right before his move. The text message from Teresa still burns in his mind. I can’t marry you. I’m in love with Patrick Jane. I hope you can understand.
Not so much as an I’m sorry.
Marcus hadn’t believed his eyes at first when he received the text after turning airplane mode off. He thought he was dreaming. He should have seen it coming, the signs were all there. The way that she hesitated, the way she didn’t have the same enthusiasm as him for things they did together. Marcus Pike is many things, but stupid isn’t one of them. At least, he hopes not. He’s made some mistakes. He shouldn’t have gotten married in his junior year of college only to get divorced one year into his masters degree when it inevitably didn’t work out. He shouldn’t have pushed Teresa or asked her to marry him so quickly.
Therapy is something that he’s considered for a long time. He did couples counseling with Ashley, to no avail. With Teresa he thought that things would be different from last time. Maybe he was the problem, the common denominator. He’s always been one to fall in love fast, usually the person to fall first in a relationship, head over heels, stupid in love. Once he got settled in Washington and saw that his new promotion came with a better health insurance package that includes therapy, he thought, “well, might as well use it.”
Marcus likes his therapist. He’s a kind but no-nonsense kind of therapist. He allows Marcus to just expel all of his thoughts before offering insight and guidance to help Marcus get on the right track. Dr. Becker asks the right questions, even if Marcus struggles to answer them right away sometimes.
He was stupid in love with his ex-wife and he was even stupider in love with Teresa. Love is the one occurrence where he thinks he might actually be a bit of a dumbass. He knows that he comes on too strong, he knows that he clings too tightly. He always loves his partner more than they love him. He thought, naively, that Teresa would fall for him, too. She liked him, he knew that much. But she used him. She wasn’t with him for him. The realization of that in one of his sessions with Dr. Becker, that she was using him, had burned a hole so large in his chest he was surprised that he was still alive.
Everyone tells him that he’s going to bounce back, that this is temporary and he will be right as rain before too long. Even his therapist has said that this pain and this grief of a failed relationship is only temporary. That the jagged edges of his heart will become smooth again. He knows it’s true, but he hates how everyone expects him to bounce back just like that so soon. Dr. Becker is the only one who’s given him a realistic followup (and a followup to begin with) to that statement: “You will bounce back from this, this pain will pass, but it isn’t done overnight. These things take time.”
“How much time?” Marcus had asked.
Dr. Becker didn’t have a clear-cut answer for that. “Everyone is different.”
Marcus is trying to make himself feel better. He tries to go out and meet new people. Tries to make friends. There are many people, who, if he wasn’t still reeling and licking his wounds from Teresa, he would have asked out. He doesn’t think he’s ready.
- - - -
At the suggestion of Dr. Becker (in addition to always wanting one), Marcus adopts a cat three weeks later. Dr. Becker suggested a pet for companionship. He didn’t intend to, but a case he was working on puts him near the humane society. He’s just going to look, he tells himself. Just to see what his options are. And then he sees her. Her name is Chickpea. She’s about four, shy with most people, but when Marcus steps into the kitten room, she marches right over to him and demands that he give her pets. When he gets up to get going, she looks up at him plaintively, as if she’s saying, “where do you think you’re going without me?” It’s a love at first sight that he can handle. He has no choice but to ask about adoption papers.
A few days later, Marcus brings Chickpea home. “It’s just us two,” he murmurs to her as he brings her into the apartment that he’d gotten with himself and Teresa in mind. A first home for them to grow as a couple.
He allows Chickpea to acclimatize to the apartment, giving her space as she warms up to her new environment. He’s sure there’s an irony in that statement somewhere. He leaves her food and water closeby to where she's acclimatizing before going to watch tv.
It takes some time, some patience, but after a few days she becomes more comfortable around him, gets used to her new home. By the end of the first week, she’s claimed the spot next to Marcus’s on the couch as her own, allowing him to pet her and give her scritches. She’s affectionate, purring when she sits in his lap. It’s a nice distraction. Marcus is glad that she’s settling nicely.
Between the cat and work and getting settled in a new city so far from home, Marcus barely has time to be sad. He’s still raw from the heartbreak. “Is it because of loyalty?” Dr. Becker asks, already knowing the answer.
“No. I have no loyalty to her anymore. She’s made her choice, I have chosen to respect her choice.” Marcus takes a sip of water. “Plus… I think I already knew that I wasn’t her first choice. I just didn’t want to accept it because she was with me.”
“So you’re okay that you were a rebound of sorts?” asks Dr. Becker.
Marcus shakes his head. “No. Being a rebound sucks. What she did was really shitty and I don’t know how I can move on from that.”
Dr. Becker writes something down. “It’s good that you are so aware of your feelings. I think you’re capable of more than you think. It’s a cliche for a reason, but time does blunt the sharpness of grief.”
“I’m not grieving,” Marcus protests.
The doctor disagrees. “Breakups are quite literally the death of relationships. The death of all that could have been. It’s a loss. It’s okay to treat it as such. It’s okay to feel these things. Healthy even. What’s unhealthy is wallowing. Now, I don’t think you’re wallowing. You’re feeling. You’re processing. Even compared to your first appointment, you’re more open. I’m really pleased with your progress, Marcus. You should be proud of yourself, too.”
The following day Marcus has to go to the attorney general’s office for a consultation on a case. It’s his first time at this particular office.
“Can I help you?” you ask when Marcus strolls up to the reception desk. He’s handsome; you notice it right away. With boyish good looks and deep brown eyes. The more you look at him, the more you see it. The look. He’s lost someone.
He flashes his FBI badge. “I’m agent Pike, here to see the attorney general for a consultation on the case I’m working on.”
“Of course. He’s expecting you. I’ll let him know you’re here.” You’ve been the secretary for the office for three years and you’ve never seen this FBI agent before, and you’ve seen quite a lot of them. “I’ve never seen you before. Are you new to the FBI?” you ask conversationally as Marcus sits down in the empty waiting room. You can’t help but feel like you recognize him from elsewhere, though.
He shakes his head. “Not quite. New to this branch. Transferred from Texas with art crimes.”
You nod. “Fancy,” you quip.
“We have our own private museum,” Marcus says, then pauses, remembering the last time he used that line on someone.
You seem more interested in it than she had been. “Now you’re just being mean,” you tease. “I love art.” Your computer dings. “Thomas is ready for you.” You stand and agent Pike does the same. “If you’ll follow me, agent Pike.”
“Marcus, please,” he says on instinct.
“Well, in that case, I should tell you my name.” You introduce yourself and leave him with the attorney general. You’re on your lunch when Marcus is finished his meeting; he feels a minor pang of disappointment
- - - -
That evening, the elevator door is closing just as someone shouts, “Hold the door!”
You push the open door button and see who it is that’s in such a rush. “Hey, agent Pike.”
Marcus blinks and then recognizes you. “Oh, hey,” he says. “I didn’t know you lived in this building, too.”
The itch you’ve had in your brain all day about where you know Marcus from is finally scratched. “I knew I recognized you from somewhere but I didn’t know where,” you admit.
Marcus nods. “Yeah, I just moved in a little while ago. About two months ago.” The elevator door closes. “Oh, sorry. What floor are you on?”
“The sixth.”
He stares at you. “I’m on the sixth floor, too.”
“Oh my god. What a coincidence.”
Marcus looks at you teasingly. “Are you stalking me?” he teases.
You laugh. “Busted,” you tease back. He laughs, but the accompanying smile doesn’t quite meet his eyes.
It’s surprisingly easy to talk to you. You seem like such a nice person. Sweet and funny from the brief two encounters he’s had with you. You’re pretty. Marcus thinks he can admit that to himself. His heart is healing but he isn’t blind.
The elevator comes to a smooth halt at the sixth floor and you both move to get off at the same time. “Oh, sorry. You go first.”
“No, you go ahead,” Marcus insists.
You wish him a good night. “If I ever need a cup of sugar or something, I know where to come,” you say as Marcus stops at his apartment door.
“Anything you need,” Marcus says, meaning it.
“Likewise. I’m unit 610A. Have a good night, agent—Marcus.”
After that second meeting, Marcus keeps bumping into you. Okay, some of them aren’t bumping into you so much as they are him coming to the D.A's office to work on the court case that he’s a part of. Other times it’s at the communal mailbox. You always offer something kind and genuine to him, wanting to make him smile. You like him. Want to get to know him better.
Marcus knows that you like him. He likes you, too. Probably more than is appropriate at the moment. He is not going to fall fast this time. He needs time. His walls are still up and he sees them being up for the foreseeable future. Still, he thinks he can be your friend.
And then, four months after Teresa ended things, he realizes that he isn’t as raw as he once was. The idea of jumping into another relationship is still something that makes him hesitant. But you’ve invited him for coffee and he can’t resist the urge to say yes.
You’ve entered a friendship with him. Even his cat seems to like you. It’s a sunny day and you’ve asked him for coffee. It isn’t a date. It isn’t anything but two friends getting coffee. You’re wearing a sundress. When Marcus arrives, he’s wearing a worn green t-shirt and nicer shorts. It’s officially summer in Washington. He has a flower in his hand. A single daisy. “This is for you,” he says when you greet each other.
“That’s so sweet, thank you so much.”
You smile so brightly it illuminates your entire body. Marcus admires that about you. He admires how gentle and kind you are. He orders a coffee and sits down.
The two of you chit-chat for a long time about this and that. Dr. Becker had been encouraging of this outing. Marcus has made other friends in the FBI here, but this is the first time he’s been out with a woman in a while.
And then somehow the topic changes to that of exes. “My ex made me choose between him and my dog,” you cringe. “I was already planning on dropping him, but when he made me choose between Barley and him, I knew that I was making the right choice in breaking up with him. I’m not getting rid of my sweet old man of a dog. The fact that he made me choose?” you scoff.
Marcus listens, aware that his countenance is changing. “Barley is the sweetest old man. You made the right choice,” he says anyway.
You see the look in his eyes again. “Who were they?” you ask gently.
“Who was who?” Marcus attempts to deflect.
Leveling him with a look, you say, “Marcus. I work for the attorney general. I also know how to read people. I see that look of loss in your eyes almost every time I see you. I know you’re seeing a therapist, but I’ve been told that I’m a good listener. If you ever want to, you can tell me. And no pressure, man. Not at all.”
His therapist had told him that it might do him good to tell someone objective about what happened. And you’re sitting here so non-judgmentally, trying to understand, trying to help.
“So I’ve already been married. That didn’t work out. We were too young when we got married. But then… I met someone a couple months before the transfer was approved. I fell, stupidly, very quickly. And I loved her more than she loved me. I don’t even know if she loved me. But I was stupid and tried to force something that wasn’t there. She wasn’t really with me for me. She was with me to make someone jealous.”
Your heart breaks for Marcus. He explains the entire thing, leaving no gruesome detail out. At one point your eyes are glittering with tears as he explains how she texted him to break up with him for the other man. “Marcus… that’s—I’m so sorry. I don’t even know what to say.” You are so angry, so heartbroken for him. “I have a lot of choice words to say about her, but I’ll hold my tongue for now.” Marcus actually chuckles when you say this.
Oddly enough, spilling out every detail makes him feel better. “Thanks. It’s a lot to deal with, knowing that someone you once admired greatly was only using you. I’m still kind of… You know what sucks? Everyone saying that I’ll bounce back. That implies that it’ll be no time at all to get over it. I know that eventually I won’t be like this and I’ll feel better about things.”
You shake your head. “Uh-uh. No. I don’t believe in that. These things take time. You take as much time as you need.”
Surprising both of you, Marcus reaches out and takes your hand. “Thank you. You’re, like, the first person I’ve told outside of my therapist who’s said that. It’s like…” He sighs. “This might sound dramatic but I feel like what she did left a hole in my chest. I’m trying to ignore it, move on from it. But every now and again it makes its presence known again.”
You nod. “I understand. I mean, not quite on that level but… I’ve been there.”
It’s not long before you call it a day. You walk back to the apartment together. He hasn’t let go of your hand. At your door, which Marcus insisted on walking you to, you lean up on your toes and kiss his cheek, his three day scruff tickling your lips.
- - - -
Marcus is worried that he scared you off after spilling everything. Outside of catching criminals, it’s what he seems to be the most good at.
One night, a few days after your coffee outing, there’s a knock on his door. Frowning, he opens the door. You’re standing there, bag of what looks like baking supplies in your hands. “You mentioned the other day that you liked brownies more than any other dessert. How do you feel about being a guinea pig?” you ask.
Marcus is taken aback. “Um… sure?” he asks. “But why my kitchen?”
“Yours is bigger. Also desserts taste better when they’re baked together. My mom told me that when I was four and I never ignore a lesson from her. Plus, my kitchen is kind of a disaster.”
“I can’t argue with that logic. Come on in.”
Chickpea meows her greeting, batting her head against your leg as you stoop to greet her. “Hi, sweet girl.”
Putting Marcus to work, you begin to work together in making the brownies, chatting about this and that. Your pinkie fingers are almost touching at one point, so close to each other. Something’s changed. You’re not expecting anything from him.
Batter ready, you put it in the oven. Looking up at Marcus, he gestures to his face. “You have flour right here,” he says.
You wipe your face. He shakes his head.
“Here.” He reaches out and brushes the streak of flour away. Something shifts in your eyes and something must shift in his. He leans in and kisses you. It’s a nice kiss. You could get used to it.
Once he’s broken away, you clear your throat. “Um, not that I’m complaining, but what was that about?” you ask. “I thought…”
Marcus shrugs. “I like you. I wanted to do that.”
Your mind is reeling. “Do—But what about what you said about taking time?” you ask.
He considers for a minute. “I don’t want you to think of this as a rebound. I just… I need time. I can’t rush into things,” he says, more to himself than to you. “But I like you. A lot. I like spending time with you.”
“I think I understand. I’m not going to rush things for you if this is what you want. I don’t mind. We can set the pace of… whatever this is.”
Marcus is convinced that you are an angel with how patient you are. He’s terrified of messing this up, whatever this is. Which is something that he thinks he understands. He’s working on himself in therapy. Trying to get to the root of why he rushes into things, why he needs things to be perfect. It’s so easy for him to get lost in the labyrinth that is his mind sometimes. It’s only been two months since he first met you. He’s worried that if he falls too fast, he’ll never get over this, over you.
“You have to trust that the person you’re falling in love with is going to be there to catch you. Not everyone is going to be there at the bottom. That’s why it’s a leap of faith,” he remembers his therapist saying.
Marcus knows that his wariness is not going to last. That one day things will click for him. The notion of falling for you so quickly is quite frankly terrifying. He thinks, however fleetingly, that it can’t last.
Over the next several weeks, though, you make it clear that you weren’t just saying things. Everything is at his pace. You are so patient, so kind, so comforting. He’s almost surprised at how easy it is to find comfort in you. Almost. He knew from almost the beginning that you would break your back just to see him smile. And he’s beginning to find his smile again. He’s found the bounce in his step again. He’s not pinning it all on you. He knows that a lot of it was going to come with time. But your comfort and your warmth has been a balm to the jagged edges of his heart. The heart that you’ve broken through the barricades to reach. He’s falling in love with you. He just has to trust that you’re going to be there to catch him at the bottom.
The first time he takes you to bed, you make it be all about him. You even hold him in your arms, wrapping them around him from behind. He wants to tell you something, but you know that he’s trying to find the right words. “I’m not going anywhere, Marcus,” you murmur. Marcus doesn’t say anything for a minute. “I know,” he finally says. And he does.
- - - -
Marcus has to go undercover. Back to Texas. It’s been six months since Teresa broke his heart. He doesn’t feel anything for her when he does think about her. Time and distance have ensured that. The only emotion he feels for her is a vague hope that she’s doing well. He doesn’t wish her ill will. “You’re a good man for saying that,” you say when he tells you that. “Not many would say that.”
He considers this for a minute. “I can’t say that what she did wasn’t one of the worst things I’ve had to go through,” he says. “And part of me can’t… understand why she did what she did. But it isn’t such a bad feeling anymore.” The gaping hole in his chest is almost entirely gone.
It’s been two months and you still haven’t put any label on this situationship you have with Marcus. You’re falling in love with him, but you want him to be happy and comfortable. You know he cares for you, but your priority with this is to make him happy. You know it’s not a rebound. Marcus gave you his word and he’s a man of his word above anything.
It’s like you’re boyfriend and girlfriend without the labels. You cook together, go to movies together, hang out with your friends together. The other night, you’d watched Casablanca with him; while you didn’t love the movie, you paid attention through the entire movie since it was important to him. He finds himself no longer comparing you to Teresa. You are your own person, incomparable to everyone else.
“How long will you be gone?” you ask. He’s spooning you. You’re lying in his bed, Chickpea at your feet, asleep. Barley is on the floor, awake but lazing.
Marcus presses a kiss into your bare shoulder. “Hopefully not too long. I hate undercover cases.”
His beard has grown in more than he’s used to for the purposes of being undercover. “Well, Barley, Chickpea and I will hold down the fort here.” Barley seems to register he’s being mentioned; he lifts his head from the rug where he’s lying.
The undercover case doesn’t take as long as Marcus feared it would. Still, he’s away for so long. He misses you. Not in the way that he missed Teresa in the early days. He wants to be with you, but he knows that he’ll see you again soon. You text each other most days that he’s able to when he isn’t working on the undercover case. You send him pictures of your pets. Barley and Chickpea are thick as thieves. He misses your level head and patience. And then, when he shows up at the FBI headquarters, he sees her. And feels nothing.
Well, no. Not nothing. But he doesn’t feel remorse for what happened, doesn’t feel resentment. No residual emotions for her, this woman he once hoped would be his wife. Sure, his ego is still bruised, and he’s still dealing with the aftermath of what happened, but his feelings for Teresa the person have all but evaporated. Teresa on the other hand feels awkward, embarrassed. Not because of what she did, she just doesn’t want to see him. He wonders if she ever felt any remorse for what happened. The way he felt remorse and anguish for so long. If he had known that she would do what she did, he wonders if he would do things the same. They did lead him to therapy, to work on himself. They also led him to you.
There was a time when the question of whether or not Teresa ever loved him would have broken him into a million pieces. Now, he barely flinches when thinking about it. Though it’s early days with you, he doesn’t have that doubt, not even a little bit.
The only thing he thinks of when he sees her is you. He remembers what his therapist said to him again. “You have to trust that the person you’re falling in love with is going to be there to catch you. Not everyone is going to be there at the bottom.”
Teresa was never there for him, never caught him when he was falling for her; she was never going to. She was too preoccupied. Yet she expected everything from him, giving nothing in return. But when he fell for you, because he realizes now that he has fallen in love with you, you were there, patiently waiting for him to arrive. Waiting to catch him and hoping that he’ll do the same for you. You, who expects nothing from him except his happiness and his comfort, and gives him everything in return. If that isn’t love, he doesn’t know what is. There was a time when he was afraid of falling in love again. Now? He’s not afraid anymore. He knows it won’t be without its ups and downs, but it won’t be like it was. He’s sure of it.
“It’s good to see you, Teresa,” he says to his ex-fiancée without a shred of resentment.
Marcus is done with Texas. He’s done with worrying. He’s done with Teresa Lisbon taking up space in his mind; she was with him because she felt she had to be. You’re with him because you want to be. He can see that now. It isn’t fair to keep comparing you to her. You dance in the kitchen to Taylor Swift, singing along with the words to your dog. You have a strong opinion on pineapples on pizza and scrunch your nose at mushrooms. You hold Marcus close to you when he sleeps over, love his cat like she’s your own. You always cry when watching Lord of the Rings, and are always happy to see him, even on really shitty days. You do things for him simply for the sake of doing them, to see him smile and expect nothing in return. You are so uncomplicated and lovely. He needs to hold on to that with both hands. He needs to respond to that love the best way he can.
Marcus is done with wondering what if? with you. He still has work to do, but it’s a work in progress. And with you to lean on when he needs to, it doesn’t seem so daunting. He’s done living in his mind these days. He needs to live in the real world. With you. He has a lot to talk to you about when he gets home. Washington, his home. Perhaps he can make his home with you. He is ready to put down roots with you, ready to put a label on you.
He makes his way out of her office, out of Texas and back to Washington. Back to you. He’s ready for whatever comes next. There was a time when he thought that this would crash and burn and it wasn’t going to work, but somehow, he managed to turn things around. He has so much to say to you, so many unspoken things ready to be said. He was afraid for so long about falling in love again, especially so soon after having his heart broken, but now he’s ready to embrace it, trusting you to catch him.
The End --- taglist in reblog.

the fact that all conversation about dark choco and pomegranate cookie’s relationship has been boiled down to “she abuses him” really fuckin bothers me, man. because there’s so much more to it than that.
first of all, i’m tired of people throwing the word “abuse” around so freely. abuse implies repeated mental or physical harm, and judging by licorice’s reaction, the scene we see in dark mode is the only time their bickering has escalated to that point.
Tumblr media
people also seem to forget that pomegranate’s dislike of dark choco isn’t one sided. their dislike for each other is mutual, and dark choco has no problem with being rude to her back. what pomegranate does to him in dark mode is fucked up, absolutely, but he isn’t some poor uwu baby who can’t defend himself. the nightmare vision incident didn’t happen completely unprompted, it happened because the tension that had been building between them finally reached its boiling point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
again, not defending her actions in the slightest. just clearing up a misconception about their relationship that i’m tired of seeing constantly.
with that out of the way, just why do they hate each other so much? pomegranate isn’t nice to the other cookies of darkness either, sure, but she’s far from as hostile towards them as she is towards dark choco. why? what makes him different? as the resident pomegranate cookie deep lore and psychoanalysis guy, i have a theory.
comparing dark choco and pomegranate’s backstories, they’re EXTREMELY similar. it’s clear just from reading their bios.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yes i still play with the korean voices on i dont like english dubs in general. let me live
their bios in kingdom are ripped directly from ovenbreak, which i actually have a bit of an issue with since it causes them to be slightly outdated. dark choco being the prince of a kingdom isn’t mentioned at all, and the line about the pomegranate village being overrun doesn’t line up with what we know now, with how pomegranate cookie was the one who destroyed her village.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it makes sense, though, since both of their bios were written long before kingdom was even a thing, and the lore it introduces existed. but they still give us a good example of how their backstories are similar.
neither of them chose to be evil of their own volition. whether it be pomegranate’s vision of her fate, or dark choco being possessed by his sword, they were led to believe they HAD to go down the route they ended up on.
the difference lies on how far down that route they ended up on. pomegranate has presumably been working for dark enchantress way longer than dark choco has, and fully believes in her cause. she has given up everything to serve her, and views herself as nothing more than her faithful servant. meanwhile, dark choco was presumably the newest member of the group before affogato, and still isn’t sure of if this is really what he wants to do. he hasn’t been fully indoctrinated yet, and even after he’s subjected to ye olde trauma nightmare visions and swears loyalty, he still isn’t in deep enough that he can’t break out of it.
which is exactly what he ends up doing in episode 14, which pomegranate clearly isn’t very happy about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
keep in mind that she’s going on this whole monologue while probably bleeding out from a flesh would. kinda raw ngl
there’s something else that’s important to mention. just like how dark choco cookie was once the prince of a kingdom, pomegranate cookie used to be the high priestess of the pomegranate village, essentially being its princess.
Tumblr media
pomegranate cookie wasn’t just some random girl in the village who decided to fuck everyone over one day, she was in charge of protecting her people. just like dark choco was.
Tumblr media
when you take that into consideration, you’re able to see just how similar the two are. they were both meant to rule over and protect their respective homelands, but their belief that they had no choice but to betray and destroy them led them to do just that. dark choco nearly killed his own father, and pomegranate burned her entire village to the ground.
and that’s why pomegranate hates him so much. he’s just like her, and that makes lines like these hit even harder.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she isn’t just talking about him here. she’s talking about herself. she betrayed her own people, so there’s no turning back for her. and in her eyes, there isn’t any turning back for him either, which he refuses to accept.
despite what people may believe, pomegranate doesn’t think she’s better than everyone else because of her power, personality, anything like that. in fact, it’s implied both through her description on the villains quiz and her defeat dialogue that she’s incredibly hard on herself, and prone to self deprecation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
all pomegranate has at this point in her life is dark enchantress cookie, and her unwavering love for and loyalty towards her. without her, she is nothing. without her, she is useless. and the same goes for everyone else. if you aren’t willing to give up everything, you’re a coward, and you’re weak.
but dark choco isn’t willing to make those sacrifices. and not only is he worthless, he’s also a traitor. just like she is. a traitor to his homeland who can’t turn back now, but who refuses to stop trying. and we all know how pomegranate cookie feels about fate.
with him, it’s not just a matter of dealing with another one of her annoying, incompetent coworkers. it’s personal.
the past infects the present, and he keeps forgetting his place.

The Kayleigh Day Lives AU
Extremely self-indulgent bullet fic with probably some written snippets later on. Canon-typical CWs.
So most of the canon backstory for Exy stays the same – Kayleigh goes to Japan, she meets Tetsuji, they create and launch Exy to rapid global fame, etc.
Kayleigh and Tetsuji really are friends. They're almost mirror images, both intent on leaving their mark on the world, albeit for very different reasons. They feed into each other's worst impulses, which works out great up untill it doesn't.
Kayleigh doesn't know the Moriyamas are Yakuza, but she also doesn't NOT know that. They are funding her dreams and that's all she needs to be certain of. And if there is some shady things are going on backstage, well, Tetsuji's the only one handling them so it's hardly like she's gonna get blamed if it gets out
The years go on, they are getting too old to play, so Tetsuji fucks off to create the Ravens and take more full control of the side branch after his leg injury and Kengo coming into power, and Kayleigh also retires after having Kevin.
The main problem is that now Kayleigh is expendable. She's no longer Exy's greatest player, she doesn't need to promote the sport as much anymore, and she and Tetsuji start butting heads over what the future of Exy is going to be. He wants them to settle down and strengthen their base in the US first before moving on to establishing it more worldwide, while she thinks they should keep diversfying the sport as much as they can. They start contradicting each other on interviews, and the media catches on to a possible feud, there is talk of a schism that could stop Exy in its tracks.
The main branch catches wind of that and is, in the simplest terms, Not Happy. They've let Tetsuji put a lot of money into Exy at this point and they can't sit by and watch as he gets usurped, or worse, as Exy becomes to unstable to be a profitable investment anymore.
So Kengo calls Tetsuji with the news that he can either put Kayleigh in line or the main branch will do it for him.
Tetsuji considers it for a while. He is not a sentimental man, but he also isn't ungrateful for Kayleigh's help so far. Plus she has that very convenient, very promising son and he has plans for a Perfect Court.
(since in canon, Kevin is not considered Moriyama property, I'm guessing that they didn't plan on fighting his bio father for custody after Kayleigh's death, it was just a pleasant surprise. Maybe he still would have been recruited, just when he was older and more clearly going to be Perfect Court material. There's a reason why Riko hasn't picked all his players when the series starts)
So Tetsuji calls her and lays down the law. He doesn't say everything yet, but makes it clear that Kayleigh can either follow his lead or the very powerful, very dangerous people she's getting in the way of are going to get rid of her. He makes it seem like he's protecting her by giving her this choice.
Kayleigh doesn't want to get steamrolled out of her own sport, but she wants to die even less, so she ends up saying yes to becoming the Moryiama's puppet. She figures she can keep pushing her agendas from behind the scenes, just with more care and sublety this time.
They end up, then, with Tetsuji functionally ruling Exy as Kayleigh takes a figurehead role, parroting his decisions and essentially becoming even more of a media darling
She doesn't agree on sending Kevin to the Nest straight away. She doesn't want to get separated from her son, for one, and also knows enough of what the Moriyamas are about by now to fully trust them with him. It is known, however, she'll eventually have no choice but to enroll him in EAU.
Kevin and Riko still regurlaly meet up for Exy play dates, become friends, and obsess over the Perfect Court and their possible roles as #1 and #2. This sets Kayleigh on edge a little bit, but she can't find a way to physically interfere and just has to hope it never escalates too far.
But as Kevin grows older, the noose starts to progressevily tigthen – specially now that they lost their intended #3 to an overeager mother.
So Kayleigh starts getting sent away in more and more media tours, and signed up for teaching workshops and attending games and really anything that will make sure she doesn't stay in the same place for more than a couple weeks.
All the moving around is going to impact Kevin negatively – he wouldn't be able to study or practice properly – and eventually Kayleigh is worn down and worried for her son's future enough that she agrees to leave him in the Nest while she travels.
Kayleigh isn't naive enough to believe the Nest is a paradise, she knows Tetsuji very well after all, but she has settled into her place well enough to start accumulating some information and power of her own inside the side branch. It's not enough that the Moriyamas couldn't still kill her if they wanted to, but it is mutually assured destruction before she goes.
So Kevin gets treated well... When she's around to watch. Which is not really that often. But Kayleigh manages to stay an influence in her son's life and have some say in what his future is going to be. (And if she has her own opinions of what the real order of the Perfect Court should be, well. That's a problem for another time).
She settles into a sort of routine as the next decade or so goes by. She becomes the face of Exy, watches carefully for Tetsuji's weaknesses, slowly ingrains herself with the Moryiamas, travels the world and periodically comes to stay with Kevin in the Nest and try (mostly fail) to mitigate the damage Tetsuji is doing. It's not her ideal life, but she's managing – all she has to do is hold on untill Kevin graduates so she can afford to throw her weight around to put him in a different pro team than Riko, so the Moriyamas can't use them as leverage against each other as much anymore. The first step towards being free is being safe.
And then, of course, Riko breaks Kevin's hand.

A Whovian Watches Star Trek for the First Time: Part 110 - Under the Command of Evil Georgiou
Star Trek: Discovery - Season 1 Episode 15 - Will You Take My Hand?
Tumblr media
Okay, We're now onto the Season 1 Finale of Discovery! I'm excited to see how we end this season out!
We open aboard Discovery with making quoting something about the nature of feart, and unfortunately I don't recognise it, so I'm just left with the Foreboding nature of the passage.
This Georgiou's command style is immediately noticeably Terran. I loved how tense the Bridge was during the opening sequence. Her absolute disdain for the Klingons, Saru, and later in the episode Ash Tyler, pushes all of the right buttons in my head, and I can't wait for her to get her comeuppance. She makes a few veiled references to how she eats Kelpians towards Saru, and it just made my skin crawl, and so did her calling Ash an "it" later on. Unfortunately however, there is not much the crew can do for now, as she's the only one who fully knows the plan.
After the intro Georgiou and Michael interrogate L'Rell about which landing site would be best for discovery. Of Course L'Rell doesn't talk, which launches Georgiou into a much more brutal method of getting the information out of her. That doesn't work either, and Michael calls that to a stop. I'm really glad that Michael is starting to realise that maybe this isn't the way to go. Michael then takes Georgiou to Ash, and since he has Voq's memories, he willingly gives over the information they want. We also get a bit of worldbuilding about Klingon history, just a bit about Kahless and how he defeated someone called Molor, who the Klingons seemed to have worshipped in a similar way to how they worship Kahless now. I really want to know more this, and I'm trying to piece together their culture from the little scraps I'm being given.
This episode from the get go is clearly about the clear difference between Imperial tactics and Federation Tactics, and whether or not the ends justify the means when it comes to Georgiou's brutality.
This episode is putting in a lot of work to undo the mistakes of the last few episodes surrounding Georgiou, and I am 100% here for it. The last couple episodes tried to make her too sympathetic, when she is a fascist dictator, but here she is written and portrayed in such a creepy slimey way, and it's definetly what they should have been doing from the get go. I've already mentioned her racism, but also in the way she interacts with the human crew. Her various threats towards Michael, and just general attitude towards Sylvia Tilly gives me shivers, and in this episode alone I think she's earned a spot among my favourite villains so far.
Discovery Makes it's jump into the caves of Kronos, and the ground crew, made up of Michael, Ash Sylvia and Georgiou exit into an Orion market to try and get the location of this shrine.
On a side note, the more even split among male and female Orion slaves makes the whole idea feel a lot less behind-the-scenes slimy than the Orions did in Enterprise, thankfully. Here it feels slimy in a way where it feels like it's supposed to feel slimy, and not just... whatever Enterprise was doing in it's Orion focus episode. Also I'm not going to pretend like the eye-candy isn't appreciated in my bisexual brain, it feels a lot less uncomfortable when it doesn't feel like exploitation.
Amongst the chaos of the market, we get a few good downtime scenes, particularly of Sylvia being an absolute fish out of water, and a really well written heart to heart between Ash and Michael, where we finally get the full details of what happened to Michael's Bio-parents. Her survivor's guilt over this trauma is an interesting angle, and the detail of her memory over her trauma is something I really want to see explored in the future, and it really adds a interesting layer with her relationship with Ash.
Tilly finds out that the Drone she's guarding isn't a drone, but a planet cracking bomb designed to make the planet uninhabitable, and unfortunately Georgiou has moved too fast for Discovery to do anything.
Thankfully, Discovery manages to talk Starfleet out of the plan, and fromt here it's just a matter of sending in Michael to convince Georgiou to stop, which turned out easier than expected. Discovery hands the Detonator over to L'Rell, and convinces her to step up as the Klingons leader, and end the war. Ash choses to go with him, meaning we'll need a new chief of Security again. His goodbye to Michael . Georgiou is then let free, and I'm hoping we'll see her again sooner rather than later, because she still has a lot fascisty stuff to answer for.
Michael's speech at the end as she obtains her official pardon, and the crew get their official commendations, was also a fantastic way to cap off the season. We're also given an absolute shocker of a cliffhanger, as Discovery picks up a distress call from the Enterprise, so I can't wait to see what that's about!
I really liked this finale. I was shaky going into it with how the previous episodes were treating Georgiou, but this more than made up for it. It really capped of the whole methods vs results theme the season was going for, and it was just generally fun. I enjoyed myself here.
I have a couple Short Treks which I'll cover in one post tomorrow, and then immediately onto Season 2!

hihihihihi!!! idk if you havent watch chainsaw man but, if havent you should go watch it! (if you want too ofc 🧍‍♀️) can i request connor, 60 and nines for reader with quanxi personality? thank you <3
A/N: Hey, dear! I haven't watched it so keep that in mind! I tried my best to embody the character and I hope I did okay (you'll be the judge of that).
What you are about to read is not proofread and was written during a period of writer's block. Proceed with caution.
The boys will be absolutely smitten with (Y/N) although their infatuation will manifest differently
Connor would oftentimes find himself staring at her in silence as she practically hunted any criminal they were after, bewitched by her, seemingly limitless, drive
His biocomponents will malfunction too often when in her presence for him to even function properly let alone do his job
She found it absolutely adorable
And she would tease him about it
"Hello, Detective!" He greeted her with enthusiasm untypical for an android "Can I be of service? I could help with the reports on the latest case you've been working on." He gave her a hopeful smile, the sparkle in his eyes shone brighter than ever.
"Thanks, dear but I could handle myself, though I reckon your reports won't write themselves." She smiled back at him, yet there was a flirtatious tone to her voice that had Connor's thirium pump accelerate. Soft blue dusted his cheeks, silence fell upon him.
"For fuck's sake! Did you break him?" Hank's voice came from the opposite desk, finally bringing Connor to the present moment.
As much as his malfunctioning episodes were concerning and even ego-crushing, he pushed it aside and instead pondered on why it was that (Y/N) caused that reaction
Post deviancy when Connor is aware of his emotions and has embraced them, he realizes there's more to his infatuation with (Y/N)- it had extended to attraction
More often than not, he will spend a lot of his time in her company, soaking in as much information about her as possible
But her descreet nature didn't help
Even though it was discouraging at first, Connor's interest was soon rekindled by the challenge of unraveling the mystic aura surrounding her
She was truly unlike any human he had come across
Tumblr media
Much like Connor, Nines too would observe (Y/N), though he would successfully mask his interest in her
Or he at least he thinks he does
Periodically, she would intentionally meet his icy gaze only to wink at him, knowing he stares at her
Which in return caused a smug grin to curl the corners of her lips
(Y/N) enjoys teasing the three RK boys, though she had a preference for the one and only RK900
In her presence he would act cool, skillfully hiding the fierce whizzing of his biocomponents that overheated at the simplest interaction he had with (Y/N)
"So what do we have here?" (Y/N) asked enthusiastically, her palm lingering on his shoulder as she walked to him and took a look at the body, lifelessly laying on the floor.
His LED spun in a bright amber color, and his processor malfunctioned. Quickly blinking, he ran a system analysis- no apparent impairments. Taking a deep breath in, he let the air naturally cool his overheated bio components.
"The victim had been found recently, although the death had occurred long ago, there are bruises on the victim's death, suggesting the cause of death is strangulation." (Y/N) listened to him carefully, taking in every word he said, yet the was also something else occupying her mind: why it took him so long to answer? Then she saw his LED, dancing in multiple colors, his passions were balled into fists so tight his knuckles were on the brim revealing the plastic underneath his synthetic skin. A sly smile appeared on her face.
"You seem distracted, is there something you're not telling me?" Her gaze met his, his face had kept his stoic façade. His expression remained enigmatic, though his silence spoke words that were left unsaid.
Tumblr media
Out of all the three, only Sixty will be fully open about his interest in (Y/N)
He will tirelessly try to get (Y/N)'s attention
He will flirt, dropping ridiculously corny pick up lines at any given moment
She is responsive to his flirting, laughing at how he would make a fool of himself for the sake of bringing a smile to her face
Which smile never failed to spurr a mixture of emotions that made his thirium pump malfunction
Sixty sat behind his desk, silence- abnormal for his nature- had fallen upon him. Curiously, (Y/N) observed him only to notice him fidgeting with Connor's coin. Immediately, Sixty's gaze met hers.
"If I flip this coin, what are the chances of me getting head?" her laughter rang in his ears akin to the sweetest melody that he has ever been fortunate to hear.
"You're the one with a computer for a brain, you should know the answer yourself." She shot him a playful smile.
Right as Sixty was about to deliver the smoothest line of his existence, Connor interrupted their flirting.
"Has anyone seen my coin, I seem to have lost it somewhere." He questioned, the genuine worry visible on his face.
Tumblr media
When on duty, the three androids like to think they are guarding (Y/N)
Yet it was usually (Y/N) that saved them, whenever they were too busy arguing
When out in public, the four of them would draw attention, causing shocked stares and whispers
(Y/N) didn't mind
In fact, she enjoyed the shock value they held by just unapologetically being themselves and most of all enjoying each other's company
There was also another factor she never excluxively addmited to be the reason for attachment to the boys
As greedy as it sounded she wanted them by her side

Thanks to @abyssal-ali for the tag! This took so long to compile lol
Rules: Go to your published works on AO3 and list the first fic you ever published there, the last fic you published, any fic that you wrote for a fandom/ship only once, your favorite fic you wrote in the fandom/ship that has the most works, the fic you wish more people read, the fic you agonized over the most, the fic that sprang fully formed from your mind without any effort, and a work you are proud of—for whatever reason.
Uh oh 😅
❥ My first fic was actually a disgustingly long word doc that glitched out my computer and someone deleted 😔 just for a fun fact ✨
❥ My first fic would be Will you be my fairy tale?
𓍊𓋼𓍊 Agents of SHEILD 𓍊𓋼𓍊
❀ Daisy Johnson/Daniel Sousa
✐ Set in 7x07, beginning of 8. Daisys in the healing chamber and Daniel Sousa decided to stay there with her. Just a cute little snippet of what he was up to while he was waiting for Daisy to arise from her slumber/healing.
❥ Last fic published was Dreaming Of Anemone (though my last work published was HaiBOO but it’s an original work)
𓍊𓋼𓍊 Maribat 𓍊𓋼𓍊
❀ Bio dad au
✐ The Wayne's might have been public figures, but there's a lot of mysteries behind those grand closed doors. Mr. Wayne for one was quite suspicious. They were hiding something and Marinette would figure out what. Even if it exposed a secret or two. Identities weren't the only thing they were hiding.
Flowers can kill after all.
❥ A fic with a ship I’ve only written once is Coming Home To Peaceful Disaster
𓍊𓋼𓍊 Maribat 𓍊𓋼𓍊
❀ Luka Couffaine/Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Damian Wayne
✐ Damian is so tired, all he wants to do is come home, have a cup of his girlfriends famous hot chocolate, and fall asleep in his loves arms.
But this isn’t too bad either.
❥ My favorite fic. That’s a hard one. I think it have to be Dreaming of Anenome despite its incomplete status but since that one’s already on this list I’ll promote another: Death Bouquet
𓍊𓋼𓍊 Maribat 𓍊𓋼𓍊
❀ Cassandra Cain/Marinette Dupain-Cheng

The rooftops were often silent at night, so was her suffering.
❥ The fic I agonized the most over is literally any fic in my Flowers Aren’t Always A Love Language series (especially Dreaming of Anenome) because I always try to put as much flower language in as possible to put a story within the story. Otherwise it’s An Angel With Demons Wings. I wrote that to get back into writing after a tough time and put a lot of pressure to get it perfect for my wonderful friend @tylindel whom I love. I did a lot of dancing research and made art to go with it.

CHAPTER 1: the day i died ( thanks amber! )
masterlist next
"AMBER! WHERE ARE YOU?! WE'RE GOING TO BE LATE!"
Y/n yelled into her phone as she hastily put on her shoes.
"I'm coming! AND STOP YELLING! You're gonna damage my eardrum. Archons, I don't know you can be so loud."
As Amber finished whining, Y/n slung her bookbag over her shoulder and quickly left her apartment and ran to the elevator.
" Oh my Archons, wrong day to ask Amber for a ride."
As the elevator went from the 3rd floor to the first, Y/n anxiously tapped her fingers on her arm. ' First bio lab this year, and I'm going to be late! '
The elevator made an audible Ding! as its doors slid open, and Y/n checked the time on her wrist. " 14 minutes?!" Bidding the doorman a quick goodbye, she exited her apartment building and ran towards Amber's car. Hopping in the van, she shoved her friend.
"I wish I could strangle you right now. HURRY! We're both going to be late! I STILL cannot believe how YOU'RE going to be a doctor, Amber."
Amber pulled out of the parking lot, and laughed. " I'm only doing it because you are! I'm surprised I made it this far."
Y/n rolled her eyes and turned on the radio.
"You're not the only one that's surprised.

Y/n and Amber ran into the laboratory, quickly heading to your station. " Y'know, I'm kinda glad Professor Gunnhildr is late!" Amber comments as both girls put on safety equipment. " Yeah, That is quite strange, do you think the lab is cancelled?"
Y/n and Amber sit down while throwing theories at each other.
" To be honest I hope she doesn't come because you'll have to carry the lab. Y/n" said girl sighed and rubbed her forehead " I always do."
"Anyways-- WHO IS THAT!?"
Y/n turn to where Amber is pointing.
"Oh!"
Y/n would not exaggerate if she said the man in front of the class was the most beautiful man she had ever seen.
" Do you think he's new to this class? Do you think I can pull him? My god, he is FINE! Should I ask for his number?"
"Amber, I thought you liked women."
"TECHNICALLY! I'm bi, but no man has ever wooed me, UNTIL NOW!"
As the Green-haired man looked over the class, He made eye contact with Y/n. He smiled, yellow eyes twinkling. "Did you see that?! Oh my Archons, Y/n I think he wants me."
Y/n flicked Amber's forehead " Stop being delusional, he just smiled at us." Looking back at the man, she noticed he sat his tote on the Professor's desk. "Oh! he's our professor! Is he subbing for Gunnhildr? Damn, I thought the class was cancelled."
The professor Claps his hands, getting the attention of students.
" Good Afternoon. Now, you must be wondering, 'Who is he? Where is the professor?' Well, I have come to inform you That Professor Gunnhildr injured herself on campus, and is on paid leave until she fully recovers. I'm Professor Baizhu, and it's a pleasure to meet you all. I am quite excited for this semester."
Professor Baizhu steps out from behind the desk and walks around.
" I may be young for a professor, but I promise that you will be educated like Gunnhildr intended, and I must add that I was a doctor; just like how you are learning to be one now. "
He looked across the room, his eyes landing on Y/n.
" Now, I believe we have a lab to complete. "

Y/n groaned in annoyance. 'Maybe I should get a driver's license...' Walking up to the bike, she quickly unlocks it from the cubby and pulls it out. Not wanting to over-exert herself at a late time, Y/n decided to walk a little before hopping on her bicycle.
Right when she exited campus, Y/n started biking. Shivering from the cool air on her exposed skin, She makes a quick decision to give up biking, and just walk the way home.
PSH!
Y/n paused. There was a sound of air squealing, and the young woman looked down. "No!" Y/n watched as her front tire deflated. Quickly wheeling the bike over to a brick wall, she turns it on its side.
Feeling around on the tire, Y/n then pulls something out of the tire. "...A tack..?" As she stands up to bring the bicycle upright, a male voice cuts through the quietness of the night.
"Need help, Miss?"
"Ah! No, thank you I-"
Y/n freezes as she felt something cold and sharp press against her neck.
"I think you need help."
"O-okay. Please don't hurt me."
The man ushers her into the alleyway.
"Do you want money? I'll give you my wallet. Please, don't hurt me."
Y/n shakes as she waits for a response, but the man stayed silent.
"-Guys! Can we get something to eat before we go drinking? I haven't eaten since 10 am!"
This was it. Y/n's chance to be saved.
"H-"
Y/n stopped. bringing a hand to her throat, she felt blood pour from it. She weakly pushed off her attacker and fell to the ground. Wheezing, she started to crawl away, one hand covering her injury.
"h-he..lp"
The man watches for a moment, before grabbing her leg to pull her deeper into the alley. He roughly turns her on her back, causing Y/n to cough. As he looks at her, he sees the pleading in her eyes, the pain in her eyes.
"Don't worry." The man pauses, adjusting the gloves on his hands
He grabs the bloodied knife from the gravel and lifts it above his head.
Y/n gasps, her body shooting out of her bed. Taking quick breaths, she wipes the sweat from her forehead. " A bad dream..?" She ponders for a moment, but then her memories return to her.
Tumbling out of bed, she clumsily makes it to her bathroom. Turning on the light, she looks at herself in the mirror. Analyzing her disheveled appearance, she touches her throat.
"But...."
Y/n sinks to the floor, the tile cooling her hot skin.

Mad cat do you like The Orville? I saw your post talking about Twice Upon a Lifetime. Gordon has my whole entire heart and I wish they could have just let him be, but they had to protect the timeline. Everything they did they did for the sake of their future.
I do! In a lot of ways, it was baby's first Star Trek, for me. I saw episodes of Next Gen here and there when I was a kid, but The Orville is what inspired me to watch Next Gen (and Discovery) in full. Even to this day, I consider The Orville to be "real" Star Trek. Not saying it's better than official content (though I certainly enjoy it) but I would argue that it's more than earned it's place as an addition to that fictional universe.
Regarding Twice In a Lifetime,
I know that was the point of view the episode wanted to establish for Ed and Kelly, and I'm not even sure if they wanted us to see Gordon as being in the right or wrong. I can only tell you that when I watched it, I was absolutely on his side and frankly, rooting for Ed and Kelly after that episode was...challenging.
They claim they want to protect the timeline, but they have an extremely narrow definition of what that means, regarding a subject that they freely admit to not fully understanding. The fact is, Gordon could be right. Maybe the timeline where he stays on Earth is the "right" one. The Orville crew don't know. They can't be sure, one way or the other, so what makes the version of time they're fighting for more real, more legitimate, more "safe?" Whether or not Gordon should have done what he did, it's happened now. Ed claims that it's still in flux "until we act." But that doesn't make any sense. Everything they do is "acting." How does the timeline know when they "mean" it?
Oh and, they go back in time to rescue Gordon from 2015, despite already interacting with Gordon in 2025, and obtaining the fuel they need to make that journey from 2025. Would that not create gigantic paradox? I guess it doesn't, but again, how the hell could the Orville crew be sure that it wouldn't before they make that jump? Can we also talk about how they mine a finite resource from the Earth's crust that hasn't even been discovered yet, like that won't affect the timeline more than Gordon having kids.
There is no way to not leave a footprint when you're in the past. It is not possible. On paper, hiding out in the woods seems like it would change less, but it really doesn't. Every one of the animals Gordon killed for food might have played some role or been part of a domino effect that changed the future somehow. It's called The Butterfly Effect for a reason. Living a quiet, mundane life, to me, is just as acceptable and probably smarter than staying in the wilderness. Oh yeah, and when they find Gordon's bio, Kelly asks "Why is there a record of him at all?" My sister in Christ, why were you looking him up in the first place if you didn't expect to find something?
Ed and Kelly keep bringing up Union law to Gordon, even though the Union literally doesn't exist in the 21st century. How is he supposed to break laws that don't exist? The Union can try to legislate the past all it wants, but in actual practice it should have no right or jurisdiction. By The Union's it's own reasoning, the past is apparently written in stone. Ed and Kelly also mention how Gordon "took an oath" as if he hasn't made it very clear that he's resigning his post as a Union officer. And so long as we're talking about the law, would it not be a crime to erase Edward and his unborn sibling? Like, Gordon raises that point and Ed/Kelly don't acknowledge it.
Man, I could go on. I could talk about the hypocrisy of The Orville crew considering history says they're all supposed to be dead after the dark matter storm in Season 1. How they were far more open minded with Past Kelly in Season 2, agreeing to let her stay and not forcing a memory wipe on her when she was going home. Not to mention they were willing change history in The Road Not Taken. I could talk about how, in just the previous episode, they were willing to risk losing their greatest ally against the Kaylon just so Topa could transition. I'm not saying any of these decisions were wrong, but if that's the attitude we've been going with so far, how do Ed and Kelly justify such a sharp turn?
In general, I have a lot of issues with the laws of The Union/Federation. I also think The Prime Directive is a circular argument that basically humble-brags about it's own lack of empathy, but that's a debate for another time.

China Girl by Red Jordan Arobateau
goodreads
Tumblr media
In the story of Charity Bing a Transsexual Chinese woman living in San Francisco’s Chinatown in the 1940’s- through 2005, Master Author Red Jordan Arobateau introduces us to one of the most fascinating characters in modern American literature. The book is unique among the files of TG life stories. Humorous, interesting, plenty of Gender Variant sex; & it contains a mystery which will hold the reader spellbound. The book is the writers first ‘mystery novel’ though only partially so.-- The book primarily is a fascinating study of a girl/boy back in these "And I, Charity, had brought disgrace on the family name twice! Once for acting out the role set for me in life by our Divine Creator--that of Transvesti--but second, rebelling even from that role! By my bizarre presentation of a Liberated Woman! A True Gender Variant! One who shaved their heads bald as a US Marine in boot camp, with combat Boots, yet wore a pink femmy skirt and frilly blouse--and this only signifying the turmoil inside my breast, I who lusted for a burly truckdriving man to ram me up the highway of Nirvana, yet in my very essence of heart and soul knew I would only find peace with my beloved Lotus, or some woman, yes, a bio woman, just like her! Like Suzuki. Like Emerald herself! What a divine deviant!" It portrays the conflict between Charity and her younger brother. And the relationship between Charity and her mom--Emerald. CHINA GIRL ultimately tells the tale of the love of her life, Lotus. The book is entirely set in St. Francis City by the Bay and it’s epicenter is in Chinatown. Charity Bing is a good girl --she spends much of her life in the Chinatown public library.--With these few exceptions... There are shocking references to the atrocities committed in Nanking in the Japanese war against the Chinese in the 1930’s from a client Charity meets when she briefly works as a girl of pleasure in a she-male brothel in San Francisco’s Tenderloin. Just as she briefly worked in Alice Hung’s brothel, so she has a quick fling in ‘The Red Mouse’ collective, a Communist/Socialist work cell which she falls in with at the UC Berkeley campus where the industrious ‘transvesti’ (as she mistakenly calls herself back in that day) audits classes for free. Most of the action of this novel is set in 1970’s Chinatown. By the year 2005 Charity has survived loneliness, poverty & a broken heart & the reader gets to examine her life once again at age 60. We see Charity in 2005, ensconced in a safe small studio apartment where she is sequentially taken to tea by one or the other of her 7 friends. The novel’s highly spiritual. With a sexual edge & good humor. They live in the shadow of that ever-present threat, the ‘Big One’ as SF locals calls it;-- an earthquake shaking them;--a potential "Where’s your Earthquake Preparedness Kit? I want to inspect it!" "I’ve just begun it dear, I don’t have everything yet..." "Do you have a flashlight? There’s a rolling power outages throughout the state!" Charity finds the box, and Delilah opens it, begins to rummage through. "Bottles of pills, good. Ointment, Band-Aids--and a dildo?" Delilah gazes up, holds the purple cucumber shaped sex toy delicately between two flashy manicured fingers. "An Emergency dildo?" Throws it aside and digs further into the box. "What’s this?" She points to a brown plastic box nestled beneath Emergency green socks, bras, and nylon pantyhose. Ruefully unwraps it.--Inside are two bottles of female hormone pills. A bottle of liquid Estrogen Compounded Solution, and 5 syringes with inter-muscular size needles. "Oh... Emergency Estrogen.
Mod opinion: I can't fully say I understand how these summaries where written, but this does sound like an interesting book that I've never heard of before and if I ever found a copy I'd be interested in reading it.

Hello and welcome to my rant from my time on Stranger Things Steddie and Friends Twitter for the past few months.
K I'm really pissed but its fine I wrote this all before the poll thing. Now I just. Can't get rid of it. (Me at tumblr headquarters right fucking now)
Tumblr media
Anyway. Sorry for the interruption.
The fact that I've seen several ST fans claim most people who like steddie are fetishizing them is already shitty, but what makes it even more shitty is that they focus on them being two white cis guys fetishized by "white girls".
To reference the two white cis guys first, yeah, you got me there. That really is all those two are in the show. And if you wanna talk representation, well shit! Let's do it! Out of the main cast, we have 3 people of color: Lucas, Erica, and Argyle. Lucas is much too young to be in a relationship with either of them and already has one of his own, and Erica is ten years old. Now, I love Argyle, but he was written to be a comic relief character that had no arc and never met either of them. I think that's a wasted opportunity, Eduardo is great and would've done well as a fully fleshed out character, and there is a conversation to be had about whether that character would've been received the same way Eddie was being a white guy. But the thing is, he was never even CAST as a character who could be compared with Eddie- again, his whole character was "funny stoner." THAT is fucked, and people have definitely decided to ignore that fanon. In fact, Jargyle has become a pretty well known ship! Weirdly enough, the content I've seen of them has majorly been from people who also ship steddie! It isn't as popular as Steddie, though, and I don't think that's ONLY bc of half of the ship has less lore than eddie. There definitely is at least some internal bias us white queer folks should take into account when considering what ships we focus on in media.
However, I don't think that's why it's being brought up. I don't think I read tweets from lesbians with she/her in their bios condemning all us steddie ppl who just ship it because "they're two white guys we can fetishize for being in an mlm relationship" bc they're trying to be good allies. That COMPLETELY disregards that transmasc and nonbinary people (ESPECIALLY transmasc people of color) make a BIG chunk of the steddie fandom. Crazy, it's almost like Eddie was written to represent an outcast and literally GOT TARGETED BY CHRISTIANS and a bunch of people in marginalized communities related to his struggles! Except oh, yeah, that'd exactly what happened. And yeah, okay, he's a white guy and it IS pretty shitty that they cast a white dude to represent outcasts in general, but the people talking shit are watching the SAME DAMN SHOW that has a huge fucking cast and still has minimal representation. Fuck, man, Caleb McLaughlin has faced SO MUCH hate from assholes "fans" as the only black main character. Why the hell are people using that very real issue to back their shitty arguments against a gay ship on twitter?
Again, I wanna preface that 90% of these kinds of comments come from lesbians and bisexual people with she/her or she/they in the bio. I thought yall were COOL with the gay and trans people. Yall ARE queer people. Some of them were even big Ronance or Rovickie fans! YALL. WHY IS FRIENDLY FIRE ON??
A lot of this argument is backed by claims that steddie fans ignore canon queer rep, too, and I just don't understand that.
I know. Robin is representation. I am SO HAPPY to have her, and I'm so happy that Maya pushed for it, and as a transmasc person who was not out at the time and likes girls, I felt very seen when watching her coming out scene with Steve. However, I know I don't fully understand the lesbian experience as someone who likes guys too. I know Robin means a lot to wlw fans, especially lesbians. There have been instances where steddies have co-opted that scene to make it about steddie, and that is not okay. (I've never SEEN this happen, but I've seen people talk about it. All the steddie guys on Twitter that I follow were making it pretty clear that that was not cool and pretty fuckin lesbiphobic. I agree, whoever did that, fuck them. Wlw and specifically lesbian wlw relationships have very little rep and Netflix canceled all their shows and it's super fucked.) But besides this, I actually see a LOT of steddie fans who very much love Robin's character. Most of the steddie artists and fic writers I know are also ronance, rovickie, and/or Buckingham creators. A lot of them are wlw themselves!
//I should also note that Will is canonically gay now and I'm super excited, but truly, I just don't see as much appeal in byler because they're so much younger than me now. I totally love Will as a character, and I was around the kids' ages when the first season came out, but I'm in college now. I relate a lot more to the older kids! I'm real happy to have will as mlm rep and I hope he gets his moment in s5. I just didn't latch onto him and Mike the way I did Steve and Eddie! We all got preferences and that's fine.//
All this to say, I'm just so tired of Twitter, man. I just saw a post about how many cis women who claiming its "ableism" to say they have to be around anyone who identifies as masculine, including queer men, queer mascs, cis men of color, butch lesbians, etc. And I've seen a lot of that lately too. It's just so weird to see someone who identifies as a queer woman talk shit abt a steddie fan with a hellcheer shipper.
(man I can't even get into that rn. Chrissy and Eddie shippers in ST fandom are a whole other bout of drama. I've seen steddies be pretty nasty on the issue toward bi women who ship that bc of age difference, which I never really understood because eddie has no confirmed age?? Like idk how he can be a super senior AND 17 on his missing poster but whatever, I'm not stressing abt that as long as you dont make them have a weird age gap on purpose. Hell, I even thought they were love interests at first, too. But DAMN I've seen some hellcheer people that hate steddie. None of this justification type shit either, they just say "it doesn't make sense" and "I'm scared of steddie" and "they ruined the fandom and eddies character" like bro that's literally homophobia. like oogily boogily gay people jumpscare homophobia. So I just don't talk to those guys usually.)
Whatever abt the straight ppl tho they're never gonna get my weird gay stuff. But what SUCKS is when it's other gay people saying this stuff. Like what about mlm wlw solidarity man? Why do I gotta see a rovickie stan and a hellcheer girl talking abt how steddie shippers are all misogynistic and hate women?? Esp when so many are transmasc?? It's getting weird and TERF-y and I just. I wish we were cool again. ST is abt outcasts at the end of the day, it's why we root for them and relate to them. There aren't even a lot of queer people from the 80s around because of the kinda hatred people like us face. Not to mention racism, ableism, misogyny, all of it. For centuries. The people up top all hate us. We gotta have each other's backs and twitter is making us INSANE instead. God.
Anyway I'm gonna go watch the mandalorian now later losers.

basic premise of the upbringing of my AU turtles
splinter(who is the late yoshi’s lost pet rat) is mutated with only mikey, raph, and leo initially
leatherhead, who is sleeping nearby, is splashed by mutagen as well
mikey, being notoriously easily distracted(somebody should put that infant on a leash) wanders over to leatherhead, who wakes up, panicked
in the panic splinter is left having to chase the startled raph and leo, and when he comes back for mikey both her and leatherhead are gone
splinter tries it’s best to juggle raising his new kids well and looking for mikey(to little avail)
leo is worried, but is a little kid who cares more about attention from splints than a sibling he barely remembers
raph is very stressed out by the anxiety splinter shows constantly worrying about mikey. of course, she’s like three, so his thoughts go along the lines of “if I get a new sibling then he’ll stop being so distressed and stay home” (she hates seeing his dad like this, the guilt, the misery, and splinter doesn’t fully realize how much his misery is affecting the two kids it still has)
raph has basic knowledge of how he exists, with the mutagen. splinter often comes back from its searches with canisters he stashes away so they can’t wreak more havoc.
so, raph steals a canister while splinter is away
she finds a (common snapping turtle) nest in one of the farther areas of the sewers
he grabs one of the eggs and opens the canister(this shit is an irresponsible biohazard nobody babyproofed it) and mutates his new unborn sibling(and also said siblings bio mom but that’s not important right now)
the young raphael’s plan kind of works actually??
well, splinter definitely spends more time on the kids he lives with now, though he’s still awfully stressed, the amount of grey hair would make one of those beauty gurus obsessed with youth drop dead on the spot(and not just because he’s a mutant rat)
donnie and raph are very close, but donnie’s mutation inflicts a similar guilt to what splinter feels about losing mikey on raph
donnie would probably have some turtle fibromyalgia without the mutagen, and it would probably be a lot worse to live with as a wild baby trying to make it alone in the sewers on new york, but raph doesn’t know that
he thinks she did this, caused this pain for donnie, and she feels terrible about it
but she’s smart, he notices as the years pass that splinter and leo coddling don just makes them miserable, so she tries his best to push a lot of her worries about it to the side
eventually they’re best friends
leon is very much Splinter Jr, as he always is, and also is OBSSESED with astronomy(not to be confused with star signs)
he’s a pretty stressed little guy but out of everyone he’s the most chill at this young stage(wish I could say he’s as carefree later in life but it’s leonardo let’s be fr)
meanwhile, leatherhead has been raising mikey in a different part of the sewers. and yes, leatherhead is a very compassionate parent and they try very hard, but he’s not especially mentally stable. he gets better, and mikey helps them a lot, but no amount of guilt and anguish he feels about having mikey witness him having these horrible episodes will stop them. LH never asked to be a parent, but he didn’t see splinter when they got mutated, and mikey barely recalls. there’s nothing else he can do, they feel trapped
anyways basic overview there’s so much more and I 100% should have it written down more in depth(maybe on ao3? though I do have a couple more things to figure out) but here’s the early childhood of the turtles(under 10 years old)

5. Deaf Mai
Mostly this is all my thoughts about for Deaf Mai. For canon context it makes a lot of sense for her to be Deaf.
In summary: it's not uncommon for hearing parents of Deaf children to force them to take elocution lessons and learn how to "pass" for hearing, and not learn any sign language. Mai's parents forcing her to sit still and quiet could be because they don't want her to reveal to their fancy aristocrat friends that their perfect daughter is actually deaf and not following the conversation
A headcanon I love is that, when Zuko becomes Hard of Hearing and has a Vision Impairment due to the burn, he starts to learn sign language. For Mai, learning sign language as a teenager is an act of rebellion, standing up for herself and away from her parents, connecting with a culture she's been forced away from, and she and Zuko can reconnect and maybe develop their understanding of sign language together
I have many many sign language (and language) headcanons for the atla world and the only ones I've written about so far are in my recently published gift fic found here
8. Jetzukka+Izumi
Moth of course you immediately pick out one of the angstiest fics I have. You might remember me talking about it. Sticking it under a cut because of the angst
CW: imprisonment (extensive), transphobia (mentioned), racism (implied), parent-child disconnect, trans pregnancy (briefly), abandonment (unintentional), kidnapping (incorrectly assumed to be happening), general angst
Izumi is Jet and Zuko's bio kid before Zuko comes out as trans (even to himself). When Jet finds out Zuko is pregnant he immediately stops his intensive activist protest work, but not long after izumi is born he's arrested for something he did a couple years before
He's arrested alongside Katara, his co-conspirator, and because Katara is a trans woman and the prison system is how it is, Jet takes all the blame onto himself. When he made this decision, his lawyer was convinced Jet would not get prison time, but unfortunately he does.
Zuko is left as a young single parent, grappling with sudden abandonment and crippling gender dysphoria that he can't quite recognise
Katara tries to connect with Zuko, in an apology because she blames herself for Jet's imprisonment, but Zuko rejects her (probably aggressively). Katara is pissed, but she's invested at least partially in the welfare of Jet's kid (especially cause she knows how excited (and nervous) Jet was to be a dad), so she sends her brother over to Zuko's. Sokka is incredibly stubborn with a mother-hen instinct, and while he's pissed at Jet for almost getting Katara imprisoned, (not Jet's fault), he's not going to let a baby suffer because of it.
Sokka is also trans, and talking to him is how Zuko figures out his own gender, and the two grow closer
Zuko visits Jet only briefly in prison, but it reminded him too much of visiting his father, so they switched to writing letters. Jet gave Zuko permission to move on and date someone if the opportunity did arise, and while Zuko was sure it wouldn't happen, he finds himself falling for Sokka, who over the years becomes a second parent to Izumi.
Zuko/Sokka become officially partners when Izumi is 3
Zuko, being how he is, does not mention his gender change to Jet. Maybe he thinks he says something, maybe he implies it, maybe he's just scared of rejection, but Jet is not fully aware. Mostly Zuko writes to him about Izumi updates. He mentions Sokka briefly, that he's helping Zuko out with Izumi, and Jet is glad Katara's sent her brother over to help. He doesn't know they're dating
When Jet is released from prison, he wants to surprise Zuko, is so excited. Katara helps, giving him a lift home. She drives past the park, knowing Zuko and Sokka are there with Izumi, and Jet sees his kid in person for the first time, and he sees Sokka in the distance
But as they enter the park, Jet watches as a strange man he doesn't know suddenly approaches his kid, and Sokka is looking the other way and this man is taking his child and
Jet punches Zuko in the face
Anyway that's all I got, I am not convinced it'll ever be written so I'm happy to talk about it. Idea up for adoption

What if Sophie’s bio father was human? It would fit in with everything Forkle has said: earth-shattering, nobody could know, everything else. But also, Forkle said her parents don’t know each other. Oralie’s a literal world leader? He could’ve just meant they never met each other, but it seems like he would’ve phrased it different in that case. And this would also make Sophie exactly what they want her to be: a bridge between both worlds.
That would definitely be an interesting twist! With how cut off from the human world the elven world is, any connection between the two (let alone an entire child) would be scandalous and completely revolutionary.
And it most definitely wouldn't bode well for Sophie; she has enough trouble as it is with everything else going on in her life. If people found out she was half-human they'd use that as a reason to vilify her and everything she does. Any action she takes that they don't approve of they can and would attribute to her human half and use it as evidence against humans. Why would we ever trust humans when we see that half-human child breaking all the laws? It's the human part of her! Humans are just like that and we can't trust them! And so on and so forth.
Humans aren't even considered an intelligent species anymore. She'd legit only be half of an intelligent species. For all that, it'd be disastrous if anyone found out. It would also be an interesting comparison between the "no one can find out about Oralie because it would ruin her life and the government" to now have a "no one can find out because it will ruin your life" situation. She's not keeping someone else's secret for them, she's keeping it for herself because it poses a very real danger to her.
Her being that actual bridge between worlds would be a fascinating perspective to have in the story. It'd give her even more of a stake and a reason to defend humans. She may also find comfort in knowing that she wasn't as out of place among her human family as she thought, that there was at least a part of her that belonged with them.
I think the primary counter to this argument is the scene from Exile when Sophie finds out her DNA was modeled on alicorn DNA. In that scene he tells her that despite the modeling, she's "still one hundred percent elf" (pg. 505). Unless he's flat out lying in that scene or Shannon hadn't fully solidified who her father was until later on, I don't see how a human father would fit with her being 100% elf. It's entirely possible that he'd lie to her face about it to protect their identities, especially so early in the series before Sophie has really started to fight back about the secrecy. It's also possible that when Shannon wrote that line she was intending to have her father be an elf, but changed her mind later on and couldn't go back and change what she'd written because it was already published. So it's not entirely impossible, just something else to take into consideration.
But if her father was human, I'd certainly be interested to see how that plays out and affects the story! Along with the specifics of how that human got involved, as Forkle did say the DNA donors were aware she was their daughter. It's an excellent idea, so thank you for sharing!
