Gilbert's POV. Ch. 8: I want to tame/to discipline Miss Bunny.
TW: Description of the deaths of minor characters.
━━━━━━━༻❀✿❀༺━━━━━━━
I remembered something I didn't like.
Tumblr media
Albert: Listen, Gil. I'm on your side no matter what .
Albert: I promise. I won't leave you alone. So...?
Gilbert: Really....?
Gilbert: Would you really say "Welcome home" to me if I came back from Rhodolite?
Albert: Oh, naturally. When you say, "Have a good day," you must always be greeted with a "welcome home".
There was a lot of blood in Obsidian Castle at that time.
The fierce struggle of the older brothers for the succession/emperor's throne was so cruel.
Everyone who is entitled to the throne kills everyone who gets in his way in order to gain absolute power in Obsidian.
Albert, who was three years older than me, was no stranger/unrelated to the story.
It was at this time that my mother and Albert unexpectedly suggested that I go to Rhodolite for treatment.
The poor prince, who was sickly and about to die before the succession battle, was sent out of the country in secret....
It could have been the farewell of a lifetime in a court where deaths occur every day.
Tumblr media
Albert: It's all right, Gil. By the time you get back to this castle, hell will be over.
Albert: I will greet you with a smile, so get well soon.
Mother: I hope you make some friends along the way. Gil is often alone. //It would be nice if you could make some friends while you're at it. Gil is alone a lot.
Mother: In Rhodolite you can make friends without worrying about your status, right?
Mother: Friends are a good thing. I know there will be a lot of hard times and a lot of fun times ahead.
Mother: When you have someone to share with, your heart shines brighter every day.
Mother: But you're sweet/kind and smart, but you're afraid to make friends... Aren't you?
Gilbert: Because..... a kid who befriends me might get killed, no?
Albert: You make friends, you just have to protect them. Because Gil is talented, he can do that much.
Tumblr media
Mother: Besides, one cannot live alone. We definitely need someone to share our worries and our joys with.
Mother: Right?
Gilbert: ....OK, I'll do my best.
Albert: This rule. Eat lots of good food. Your health depends on the food you eat.
Albert: You're too skinny. Eat more when you can eat, like I do.
Gilbert: If I do that, I wonder if I can become as strong as you, Albert.
Albert: Yes, you can. You can run every day.
Albert and my mother both smile as warmly as the sun.
So I, too, smiled.
Gilbert: I'll come back stronger.
Gilbert: See you later.
And when I returned after my recuperation period, Albert and my mother welcomed me back.
Tumblr media
Headless, with their heads recently severed.
━━━━━━━༻❀✿❀༺━━━━━━━
Luke: Hey, what are you doing!
Luke's angry shouts push the memories of the past into the distance.
(...Oh, I just did it.)
Miss Bunny hit her back against the wall as she lunged, and I threw her off with force.
Even though it happened suddenly, I had forgotten how to adjust the force.
Tumblr media
(But it can't be helped, can it?)
Gilbert: What, Miss Bunny was in the way.
Luke: There is a better way to protect her.
Gilbert: Protect? Why should I protect Miss Bunny, who got in my way by doing unnecessary things?
The lives of many of the people gathered at Clavis' secret evening changed on Bloodstained Rose Day.
I assumed in advance that some of them would hate Obsidian so much that they would want to bite me.
(But I never thought Miss Bunny would try to cover for me.)
(...I wonder why you're trying to hurt my prey.)
MC: Ha…. hah…
Miss Bunny repeatedly breathes painfully.
She didn't give up, as if throwing away unpleasant and uncomfortable feelings.
(Seemed to need discipline/taming here.)
*The sound of a cane* I approach, Luke protects Miss Bunny.
Luke: Stop, Gil!
Gilbert: ...Stand back.
Luke: I'll never back down!
Even Luke, who should be more accustomed to killing than Miss Bunny, could see a faint trace of sweat.
As I watched him embrace the trembling Miss Bunny, I was reminded once again that I am a big bad guy.
Luke: Why are you suddenly so angry?
Gilbert: I'm not angry. It was just an unpleasant decision/completion.
Gilbert: Or maybe I didn't notice as much.
I threw a glance at the man and the knife lying on the floor. To me, accustomed to combat, this weapon is of little importance, but to Miss Bunny it is dangerous.
Gilbert: Do you have something to say?
(I hope you realize what a foolish thing you've done.)
I bring the tip of my cane to her eyes.
The beast of trampling/conquest is such that its killing power alone can rob you of your words.
In spite of this, Miss Bunny breathes in full-throated air as if she is trying to resist and trying to get up.
Tumblr media
(━━....... I think this is the first time I've ever gotten such a cheeky response in return to bloodlust.)
MC: .....If you refuse to engage in dialogue... that's what's going to happen.
MC: I don't think violence ....is justice...
MC: An effort must be made..... to fill any gap.
Gilbert: ......
MC: Only violence.......is what you’re good at.
MC: And that’s what..the beast truly does.
(........)
Gilbert: .....Huh?
(I see, so that's what you're thinking now.)
(It's an obvious answer, and frankly, I don't care.)
Miss Bunny shows no signs of remorse.
Tumblr media
(I was hoping to hear her defense of her stupidity in "covering for me".)
In this state, I don't even know where to direct my bloodlust.
Luke: That's enough, Gil. You're on the side of the weak, aren't you?
Luke: What are you doing threatening MC?
Gilbert: ......
(Luke says so, but .....)
(...What if I hadn't reacted sooner and Miss Bunny got stabbed?)
━━━━━━━༻❀✿❀༺━━━━━━━
Tumblr media
Again and again, and again, and again, I remember that scene in my dreams.
Albert and my mother were accused of giving their opinion to the emperor in order to stop the dispute over the succession to the throne.
I don't need to ask now why they tried to stop the conflict.
Tumblr media
It was to protect the sickly prince.
It was a life that was lost to protect.
As with Miss Bunny's stupidity earlier, she does everything without being asked.
(It is impossible to forgive/allow.)
━━━━━━━༻❀✿❀༺━━━━━━━
Gilbert: ….Hmm, that’s right.
Nevertheless, the bloodlust was gone.
Any further pressure would cause breathing difficulties.
(....The bad guys don't need intervention.)
Gilbert: Of course, that wasn't like me.
Gilbert: Sorry, I got upset when Miss Bunny did that stupid thing, right?
(Don't betray me, even you, my "friend".)
Tumblr media
(I'm the only one allowed to kill my prey [you].)
Even after my bloodlust had passed, Miss Bunny kept shaking. Luke picks her up, and she disappears from the hall.
I never once made eye contact with Miss Bunny during that time.

Proposal AU
Thena takes care of a very exhausted Gil!
Something sweet and soft 🤭
Gil groaned, trying to turn his face away from the light.
"It's almost over."
He blinked, finding his nose buried in a head of blonde brighter than sunshine. He could have just nestled in further, which was damn tempting of course. But he groaned, adjusting in the...hammock?
"You know, you're actually quite lucky," Thena continued in a whisper. Her fingers ran through his hair. "Had I not joined you here, I'm sure your mother or sisters would have no trouble awakening you for what is actually our own party. But with me in here as well, everyone thinks we're too wrapped up in pre-marital snuggling to bother you."
"You're doing an awful lot of talking for someone determined to let me sleep."
She gave his cheek a poke. "I know very well you're awake. You stopped snoring."
"I do not snore," he grumbled, moving his head so she could pull away and look at him. He pouted.
"You snore a little," she broke it to him gently at least, poking his lip back into place. "But I'll forgive you because you're so exhausted."
He yawned completely reflexively, but he at least pressed it into the shoulder of her cardigan. "How long?"
"A couple of hours."
That scared him. He jolted, not that it did much in their hanging basket arrangement. "No."
Thena nodded, though, confirming the statement that had sent fear shooting through him. "Just over two hours, assuming I found you relatively close to when you fell asleep."
"Thena, no," he groaned again, attempting to drown himself in the fabric suspending them off the ground. "No, no, no--my mom worked her ass off for this party, I can't have been asleep for that long."
"Sh," Thena hushed him from those soft lips again. She was being awfully tender with him. "I told her that I was the one who lulled you into sleep. If anyone is to blame, it's me."
He whimpered, though. "I'm a bad son."
"On the contrary," she had the nerve to laugh at him when he was upset. "You are the son who cooked every morsel of food at this party. If you happened to spend most of it in a hammock with your own fiance, I can't imagine she would have anything to say about it."
Well, she had a point. He did cook all of the food. And Ajak was always telling him to try and relax - with Thena - more. He sighed again, unfolding his arms from around himself and resting one over the curve of Thena's waist. "Guess I can't argue with that."
"You haven't missed much," she informed him. "Ajak announced how pleased she was for us."
Gil snorted, pulling Thena closer to him as a breeze rocked the hammock faintly. "That wasn't what she said when I first told her. Nearly took my ear off demanding to know why I hadn't said anything until now."
"You have a lovely family, Gil."
He opened his eyes again to look at the woman in the hammock with him. Some of their relatives had arrived early for this party. They were distant, some more family friends than anything. But it was certainly an escalation to their little lie. They were having to do couple-y things more often. A 'love you' here, a 'missed you' there. A brush of his hand over her shoulder--that kind of thing. He smiled, "are you actually in here avoiding them?"
Thena didn't deny it, which was basically a confirmation. She slid her hands up his chest and nestled her head closer again, approaching a position to tuck it under his chin. "Your mother knows a staggering number of people."
Gil chuckled, tucking her against him so she wouldn't have to close the gap herself. She happily accepted his invitation, practically settling into him like a cat in a sunbeam. "Sorry I left you to handle them all yourself."
"I gave up rather quickly," she lamented. "Said I had to find you to ask you something for the wedding. It worked to help me avoid anyone for nigh on half an hour."
"We're both bad hosts."
"Indeed," Thena agreed, not seeming all that upset about it. She sighed, her hot breath hitting his throat. "I'll apologise to your mother later."
"I'm pretty sure you can do no wrong in her eyes," he assured her. He had just had a pretty solid nap, but it was way too comfortable to continue lying there with Thena to even think about trying to roll out of the swaying hammock. "You'll be her first daughter-in-law. To her only son, no less. An eldest son I'm pretty sure she was getting worried wouldn't be settling down at all."
"Hm."
"Hey," he called to her before she could slide down that slippery slope of regret. He rubbed small circles in her back, "don't worry about it."
She didn't say anything else, but one of her hands slipped around his side and to his back, clutching a fistful of his shirt. She pressed her face into his shoulder.
He sighed, ready to settle into sleep again, feeling the familiar position of Thena cuddled up to him. He was nearly there when he heard a grating voice getting closer and closer.
"Yoohoo!--lovebirds?"
Gil kept his eyes closed, not in the mood for his showboat cousin who probably wanted to make some dramatic speech about them or drag him up in front of everyone.
"Gil, mom's lookin' for you!"
Thena stirred but he cradled the back of her head with his hand and held the small of her back. "It's a trap."
She puffed out some air at his joke before whispering, "diabolical."
"Very," he whispered back, eyes still closed.
"Here they-oh!"
Gil resisted the urge to tell his brother - in every way that mattered - to fuck off and not wake his fiance. He held Thena firmly, determined to appear asleep.
"It's so sweet!"
"Let them rest, you two--Makkari, put the stick down!"
His youngest sister was no doubt about to poke him in the face with it. His sweet and elegant mother had raised a bunch of animals.
He only cracked his eyes open when he heard them padding away, complaining why he got to skip out on the party duties, like entertaining guests and cleaning up as things started coming to a close.
"We can't sleep in here all night, you know."
"Why not?" he grinned, immediately pulled back into the little world that was the high sides of the hammock bending around his weight. "It's comfy."
"I would hardly call this lumbar support," she argued, although he was pretty sure she wasn't that far from dozing off herself. "And what if it rains?"
"We're in the trees, it's fine," he laughed. They weren't exactly in the depths of the wooded area surrounding the house, but they were away from everything else enough that they weren't the easiest to find in here.
"Gil," she scolded, but made no attempt to get up, or even separate herself from him.
"Mom wouldn't let that happen," he reassured, although it made her go quiet again. "Fine, just a few more minutes."
"Five, not a second more."
"Deal," he smiled. She sounded like she did when they were at work. It felt so far away, they'd been here so long. Not that they didn't deserve the break. And Thena had even more paid time off than he did. He was pretty sure she never took a day off.
Unless she was sick. In which case he would rush home from work and cook up his most healing chicken soup and noodles for her.
Thena didn't stir as he pressed a kiss to her cheek. If anything, she nestled closer to him, "five minutes."
"Five minutes," he repeated, moving his lips down her cheek, closer to her lips. He didn't close the distance quite yet, but Thena didn't pull herself away either. And he didn't need the next five minutes to make his decision.
It was chaste, just the barest brushing of lips against lips. It was like a peck. Thena didn't make any sudden moves or any sounds at all. Only she could lie perfectly still and straight postured in a hammock. "Was that your attempt at bartering?"
He grinned, their heads still too close to really see each other, breath mixing and lips twitching to meet again. "Depends if it worked."
"No."
"Fine," he conceded, moving his hands to her cheeks. He gave her another little peck before she tucked herself into the crook of his neck again. This was just another couple-y thing to add to the list, apparently. Not that he minded.

Gil-galad: Last time you were stolen we thought you were DEAD for FORTY-NINE YEARS

Love that it didn’t occur to him that he could just ask her out.

The human au is very interesting! Would you do another one? Maybe they get attacked by the deviants and Thena is a bit too late to protect Gil and he gets hurt badly while he saves a kid?
The last thing he remembered was that little girl, standing in the middle of the chaos, looking up at the wall. But whatever they were fighting out there was big.
Gil was forbidden from leaving the gates when they were under attack, even to help get people inside. Partially by Ajak's order and strongly enforced by Thena, it was simply too dangerous for him to be out there.
He was as good as human, now.
He had run over to the girl, protecting her with his own body as a section of wall crumbled from the outside in. Human or not, he was still bigger than she was, and he could still protect humans, even if he was one.
"What happened?"
"You saved a young child," Ajak smiled down at him. She must have healed him, because the pain in his body was screaming.
"Some of the wall fell around and," Sersi grimaced, "on you."
"Don't worry, pal, the kid's fine," Kingo reassured.
Gil's eyes moved around them all. He could even see Druig and Ikaris on the outskirts of their little group. He groaned, "Thena?"
Looks were traded. Ajak looked behind her and nodded her head before looking down at him again. "You should rest, Gilgamesh."
The rest of the Eternals took their leave, leaving the Warrior Eternal to take their place to be the one and only in his vision. He looked up at her, trying to read the expression - or lack thereof - on her face.
"Are you in pain?"
Yes, he was in agony. He blinked at her, "not bad."
Still, she just stared at him, "you lie."
He watched as she moved around Phastos' examination table. He grunted as he tried to sit himself up, "that makes two of us."
"Gil," she put her hand to his chest.
He huffed, flopping back down again. He would have smacked his head on the table if not for her hand cradling the back of it. "Please?"
Thena kept her hand pressed on his chest, but did eventually move one to his back to help him up. "You must move gently. You were gravely injured, Gilgamesh."
He winced as his body took on its own weight again. "I don't remember."
"Perhaps because the gravity of your injury is blocking your memory."
He looked up at her. That eerily still expression was gone but it was replaced with an even worse on. "You're mad at me?"
"Do not trivialise this, Gilgamesh," she scowled at him. He did have to consider himself lucky. If he were anyone else he would be getting a lot more hell than just this. "You were nearer death than I have ever seen you."
He attempted a smile, "I saved that kid, right?"
Thena looked away. She had no argument to that, nor would she shame him for it, no matter her feelings on the issue. Her approach changed direction, "you were told to stay within the walls."
"I was, technically," he pointed out, not that it was helping his case.
She glared at him, "Gilgamesh."
"Hey, I'm the one injured here," he countered, but that just worsened things again. Her fists clenched and she leaned on the edge of the table. He frowned, "Thena?"
"I cannot be in two places at once," she conceded, and it sounded like she deeply and truly resented having to admit such a reality. She finally looked at him, eyes screaming what she could not. "There is only so much I can do to protect you."
Gil sighed, although his broken and then healed ribs protested. "You're protecting me day in and day out, already."
"Does that displease you?"
"I'm not saying that," he cut in quickly. He held out his hand, and was relieved when it seemed that this at least remained the same for them. He brought it to his lips. "How do we make this work?"
Thena bent herself to kiss his lips this time, gentle in a way that made them both want to cry.
"I can't go on like I'm made of glass," he stated aloud that which everyone had been avoiding saying. "And you know it."
"And what would you have me do?" she whispered, locking their fingers together. "Allow you to walk into harm's way when you are mortal?--something you would never allow to happen to me if I were in your place?"
She used that argument often. And she was right; if she had mysteriously turned human overnight he would nary let her out of his sight, let alone onto the battlefield.
And keeping her from fighting would hurt something inside of her, no matter how safe he kept her.
Thena touched her forehead to his, "I know you want to help."
"I can't do nothing, Thena."
"Of course not," she accepted, deeply saddened by his happy declaration. "But I will not watch you die, either."
Gil ran his hand over her cheek. It felt the same, even if he had no Cosmic Energy under his skin. He could still feel hers, though, as if rising to just under her skin, calling out to him. "I promise you won't."
Normally she would scold him for making a promise over which he held so little control. Now, all she did was lean into his touch. "I was too late, today. If that happens again-"
"It won't." Now he was just lying to her. But he tipped her lips to his again. "Hey."
She indulged him, looking into his eyes with her green ones.
"Y'know," he murmured, "this doesn't have an end in sight. Are you really ready to face...what if I never-"
Thena placed her finger upon his lips, then her own lips. She smiled, "am I prepared to have a human for a partner, you mean?"
He blushed.
She inhaled against his cheek. This was the most she had touched him in weeks. "If it's you."

A really underutilized dynamic is the War of Wrath where you have
High King Gil-galad of the Noldor in Beleriand, who failed to stop the Kinslaying at Sirion
High King Finarfin of the Noldor in Aman, who repented and returned after the Kinslaying at Alqualondë
Former High Kings of the Noldor Maedhros and Maglor, who were chief perpetrators of the above Kinslayings
who all have to sit down together and coordinate the attack on Angband.
It really underscores the twin dynamics of technically you are family, but I would also like to kill you as well as the enemy of my enemy is my friend, but have I mentioned I would also like to kill you.
