You hummed to yourself as you carefully picked the ripe berries from one of Primo's pristine strawberry plants. You waved as you saw a familiar face round the corner. "Swiss, hey!" The multi ghouls wrapped you in a side hug as he approaches you.
"(Y/N), good to see you." He flashes you a sharp smile. "Would you like some help in the garden today?" You nodded with a soft laugh.
"You know help harvesting is always appreciated." He ushers his companion forward. You recognized him as one of the new Ghouls that had just been summoned. You hadn't really gotten the chance to talk to him yet, you had only exchanged a few small waves as you passed by him in the halls, you also would always give him a warm smile in hopes he would eventually warm up to you. "Hi Phantom." You see a small grin pass over his lips as he realizes you knew his name.
"We're trying to get him more comfortable with interacting with the Siblings. I was hoping he could help you out here." Phantom shifted awkwardly in his heels, you were unable to meet his gaze.
"Of course he can, I'll bring him back down to the Ghoul's Den after we're done out here." Swiss dismissed himself with a nod and a wave, briefly stopping to whisper something in Phantom's ear before clapping him on the shoulder and walking off. "Come on, let's go get you a basket." You motioned for him to follow you. You slowed your pace to allow yourself the chance to slip beside him. "How have you been adjusting so far? I'm sure this is a pretty big change for you." His eyes darted to look at you, he seemed a bit shocked that you were able to talk to him so casually.
"It's definitely a bit of a shock." He chuckles, you try your best to hide your excited expression over his response. "I honestly feel like most of the Siblings are scared of me."
"A lot of them have never been exposed to a freshly summoned Ghoul before. I'm sure they're just a little hesitant because they're not sure how to interact with you. I, however, think you seem very sweet Phantom." You glance over at him with a smile. He just looks down at the ground, folding his hands neatly behind his back. You got him set up with his own basket of gardening tools, he listened very intently to your instructions about how to harvest the produce properly without harming the plant. He watched you closely, lavender eyes scanning over your delicate fingers as you worked. The two of you moved from plant to plant, working slowly as you took time to answer whatever questions he had for you. After a while he actually seemed to be having fun, he slowly became more relaxed in your presence. He jumped down from a low rock wall out of the flower bed, almost instinctively offering you his hand. He looked back at you, almost recoiling at his own gesture. You reached out without a moment of hesitation, your fingers gliding over his palm. He breathes out a chuckle as he notices how his hand could completely engulf yours.
"You're so small." His eyes widen slightly as he suddenly drops your hand, apologizing profusely, causing you to laugh.
"Phantom, it's okay." You motioned to his hand. "May I?" He nodded slowly, you gently grabbed his palm in both your hands, your thumbs running soothingly over his skin. You pressed your hands together, allowing him a moment to look at the size difference between the two. "Your hands are really warm, it's nice." You smile at him.
"I-um," he trails off, swallowing thickly. "Would it be alright if I saw you again?" He inches forward slightly, a nervous glint in his eyes. You nod, a smile quickly spreading across your features.
"I'd like that." Phantom hesitantly pulled his hand away from yours, allowing his touch to linger in your until the very last moment. The two of you brought your fresh produce to the kitchen before you walked with him down to the Ghoul's Den.
"I hope he didn't give you too much trouble." Swiss says with a laugh.
"He wasn't any trouble at all, I had a really nice time with you today Phantom." He nods bashfully.
"Hopefully I'll be able to see you soon." He smiles softly at you, trying to hide his fangs.
"I'm always in the library in the evenings if you'd like to come keep me company." You bite your lip to try and hide your excited smile. "I'll see you later Phantom, bye Swiss." You dismiss yourself with a wave, practically skipping back to your dorm for the night. The next night you found yourself waiting anxiously as you wondered whether or not Phantom would actually show up. You sat before a roaring fire, curled up on one of the couches in the room as you skimmed through the book you had chosen, barely able to focus on the words on the page. You sat up a bit straighter as you heard the heavy door open on the opposite side of the room. Phantom slinks out of the shadows, offering you a small wave as he steps into the soft orange glow that surrounds you.
"Would it be alright if I joined you?" You nodded, scooting over to offer him a space to sit. He was rigid as he sat down, sitting up straight as he nodded at you. "You look really pretty tonight." You can't help but blush at his statement.
"Thank you." Phantom seemed even more flustered than you felt. "I'm really happy you came." You see him swallow thickly, his gaze landing on your lips.
"I am too." He admits with a bashful chuckle. "Can I admit something?" You nod, he cautiously reaches out and takes your hands in his. "I'm still learning how to interact with humans, but I've found myself feeling very attracted to you." You felt your cheeks heat up, your eyes widened slightly at his confession. You found yourself inching closer to him, his warm breath bouncing off your lips. "Can I?" He asks softly, you could feel his lips ghost over yours he was so close. You gave his hands a gentle squeeze.
"We'll take it nice and slow, okay?" He nods in response, pausing and waiting for you to take the lead. You gently run your fingers over the exposed skin of his cheek under his mask. His eyes slid shut as your lips finally found his. His grip on your hand tightens slightly as he presses himself into you. You slowly slid your hand around to the back of his neck, you hum softly as the feeling of his soft hair brushing over your fingers. Your body jolts slightly and drops your hands to let his fingers run over your waist. He tenderly squeezes at your flesh as you pull him in as close as you could manage. You parted with soft gasps, your gaze meeting one another's as soon as your eyes opened. "You're a really good kisser." You giggle causing him to get flustered.
"I'd like to do that again if that's alright." You nod, leaning into him once more. This time Phantom's lips met yours with a greater ferocity, hands grabbing hungrily at your hips while still making sure he didn't hurt you accidentally. His lips left yours, trailing across your jaw and down your neck. He nuzzles his face against your skin, your breath shudders as you try to steady your breathing. He takes your hand, slowly bringing it up to the buckle on his mask, silently asking you to remove it. Your fingers shook as you worked at the strap, eventually sliding it out of the buckle so you were able to fully remove it. His raven hair tumbled into his face, you couldn't resist reaching out to run your fingers through the soft strands. He takes a moment to study your expression, he was met with your soft gaze that held nothing short of pure adoration. "You're… you're not scared of me?"
"No," he carefully pulled you into his lap, his head lulled into your touch as you continued to play with his hair. "I think you're very handsome." His warm lips pressed against your pulse, sending a shiver down your spine.
"(Y/N)?" You hum in response to your name. You can't help but blush as Phantom's hands slide over the curve of your ass. "How slow would you like to take things?"

CHARACTERS: Malleus Draconia x Reader

Riddle Rosehearts / Leona Kingscholar / Azul Ashengrotto / Jamil Viper / Vil Schoenheit / Idia Shroud / Malleus Draconia
Rescuing You - Deuce Spade; Jack Howl; Floyd Leech; Kalim Al-Asim
COMMENTS: What have I done? Why did I commit to writing this? And why did I write so much? Why was I so inspired? There were seven of them! Why do I do this to myself? So yeah, this took me a long time. But I hope it was worth it, for me and for you.
Tumblr media
CONTEXT: Someone was kidnapped to marry some ghost princess and might end up turning into a ghost too. And they just found out that someone was you.
Tumblr media
Malleus wasn't at the Housewardens meeting, but Lilia was. On the outside, he was surprised and worried. On the inside, he was thinking of a plan to ensure that Malleus wouldn't know about this by any chance!
He tasked Silver and Sebek with ensuring that Malleus remained uninterested in what happened. And if they had to tell him what was going on at school, they could tell him the truth with the exception of the identity of the kidnapped student. They should say it was a random student they didn't know.
But Lilia's plan didn't just include Silver and Sebek, he charged all Diasomnia students to follow the same plan. According to Lilia's orders, there was only one event that would force the students to reveal the identity of the kidnapped student to Malleus: all others failing and he being your only hope.
In this scenario, Lilia would be part of the last group. And while some students tried to rescue you, Malleus was completely indifferent to the situation. After all, it wasn't anything that concerned him much, right?
Knowing that Lilia was part of the volunteers who were trying to save the kidnapped student, he would occasionally ask if anyone knew how things were going. The students told the truth, that it wasn't going very well and they were being petrified one by one. They just couldn't reveal your identity. And Malleus replied that it was a shame, but that he hoped everything would end well, and went back to his tasks and hobbies.
Meanwhile, all the Diasomnia students began to worry more and more, knowing that all the volunteers were failing in your rescue. Sebek complained about how incompetent all the volunteers were, except Lilia. And it would have to be him, in the last group, to solve everything.
But unfortunately, he was wrong. Even Lilia failed and ended up being petrified. Sebek still tried to convince the others to let him try to save you, but there was no time for that. There was only one option, your last hope, and the fear of Dioasmonia at that moment.
Of course, it was Sebek and Silver who were in charge of telling Malleus the truth. Sebek tried to beat around the bushes, even if unconsciously, but Silver knew that would only make things worse, so he simply said:
“I deeply apologize for keeping this information from you from the beginning, but it was father's orders.” The three of them were the only ones in the room, the other students were too scared of Malleus' reaction. “The kidnapped student is not a person we don't know. The truth is that (Y/N) is the kidnapped student. All the volunteers including father failed and you are the only one who can save them now.”
“WE WILL ACCEPT ANY TYPE OF PUNISHMENT IF YOU WISH, MY LIEGE!” Sebek said and the two knelt in forgiveness in front of Malleus.
A very loud thunder was heard outside and everyone inside the castle felt it. “How dare...” Malleus started to say, but remembered that Silver had said that it was Lilia's plan, so that would have to be resolved later. “Very well. Where are they?”
The moment you feared was getting closer and closer. The wedding had already begun when a storm began to approach. At first the princess didn't pay any attention to him, until the rumble of thunder was so loud that people's voices could barely be heard and she began to get really scared.
The entrance doors didn't simply open, they were slam into the wall, and Malleus slowly entered the ceremony hall. Everyone without exception could feel his terrifying aura.
“I apologize for entering this way into a ceremony to which I was not invited.” He was just being polite, he clearly wasn't sorry in the slightest. He stops. “Well, quite a glittering assemblage, Princess Eliza. Royalty, nobility, the gentry. It's a pity there won't be anything to celebrate.”
The princess says, "Of course there will be! Our wedding." pointing at herself and you.
“Truly?” He walks towards you again only to be stopped by the guards who stand in front of him. He looks at you “Tell me, Child of Man, do you wish to marry Princess Eliza?” he was fully confident that he knew your answer.
You frantically shake your head and say no. What increases Malleus's smirk towards the princess and the guards.
“From my understanding, marriage must be unanimously accepted by both people in the couple. So if (Y/N) doesn't want to marry you, there will be no marriage. Correct?”
The princess starts defending herself, saying that you still don't know what you want, but that after you get married you will see that you love her... But her speech is quickly interrupted by the rumble of thunder outside. And by the shudder that the building felt with them.
“With all due respect, princess, but your desires and illusions don't matter to me. You will release (Y/N) and give up on the marriage.” The guards prepare and attack Malleus to defend the princess. “Fools. All of you.”
In an instant, Malleus takes out all the guards with practically no effort. And when the last guard turns into a giant ghost, the same happens to him, defeated by Malleus without much effort.
“Oh no! Noooo!” The princess screams. “No, no, no...”
“You lost all your guards, princess.” Malleus continues. “It pains me to make such a cruel request, but the choice is yours. Either you release (Y/N) peacefully now or...”
“PUFFY!” The princess "runs" towards the ghost that Malleus has just defeated.
Malleus himself is confused, but he lets whatever was going on happen. The rest, you already know, they have a conversation in which they realize that they actually love each other and the princess ends up marrying the guard.
Malleus undid the paralyzing effect of the princess's slap and let the others deal with the rest of the problem, while he took you away from there without anyone noticing. He picked you up bridal style and disappeared with you. You appear in front of the entrance to Ramshackle Dorm. You appear in front of the entrance to Ramshackle Dorm and he sets you down on the ground.
“Are you well, (Y/N)?” Malleus asks you. “Did the princess mistreat you?” You tell him that, other than the kidnapping, she didn't hurt you, and that you're okay, just still a little scared about everything that happened.
“Forgive me for not showing up sooner.” His voice became softer, more apologetically. “I was unaware that the student who had been kidnapped was you. The truth is that Lilia ordered everyone to keep that information from me.” He was a little upset when he said this last part.
You try to reassure him by saying that Lilia certainly had a good reason for doing that and that the others were not to blame, they were just following his orders, believing it would be the best for everyone.
He smiled. “Even after everything that happened to you today, you still want everything to be resolved peacefully. How wonderful.” He looks at you fondly. “You should be more careful. If you continue to show how charming you are, there may be more people who want to kidnap you for marriage. The kidnapping is undoubtedly outrageous, but I cannot blame them for wanting someone like you by their side for the rest of their lives. Or their afterlife.” He sees that you were flattered, maybe you even blushed.
“You look beautiful in those clothes.” He continues. “Would you like to get married in them or would you like something different?” You ask, surprised, why he was asking that. “I like to know more about you. And, who knows..." He smirks "maybe it will be relevant information for the future.”
He returns to a neutral and slightly more serious face. “I should reveal this to you (Y/N). When I found out that the kidnapped student was you, I felt a tightness in my chest. I felt such wrath that I wanted to hit everyone responsible with lightning and blow them off the face of Twisted Wonderland. At first I thought I only felt this way because someone who was very dear to me was kidnapped. But when I saw you at the altar I realized that it wasn't just that. It was also because... I... was jealous. Of the princess, I mean. The voice of whatever was pressing on my heart told me that I was the one who should be there with you! So, I need to know...” He approaches you and looks at you with bright eyes undecided whether they should reflect hope or apprehension. “Could it be that you might feel the same for me?”
You tell him yes and tell him how you feel about him. And once again he shows you that charming smile of his, the kind of smile of absolute joy that he can't hide. He grabs you by the waist and spins you in the air before hugging you with your feet still unable to touch the ground. He wanted to have your face close to his so he could kiss your lips.

Gimme your most stupid ghoul headcanons possible, like Sodo is scared of idk dust particles or something funny.
“silly ghoul headcanons”
Tumblr media
Synopsis: It’s in the title you silly goose. Just the ghouls with their silly little shenanigans
Pairing: Nameless ghouls (platonic or romantic) x GN!reader (they/them)
Theme: fluff ✿ , crack ✦
A/N: Heres my first fanfic to my Ghost blog! I gotta thank my bestie for making this request despite the silliness in it. I hope you guys enjoy it because I certainly had fun writing it. I might make a separate version for the ghoulettes cause I love my girlies <33
I also decided to add Aether in this one cuz I love him, remember to respect both him and Phantom as ppl because we don’t support that negativity and hate 🫡
TW: Swiss and Sodo joke about sex but it’s because they’re Swiss and Sodo
▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆▆
Tumblr media
Sodo, oh dear Sodo. He can be such a silly ghoul sometimes
He likes to act like he’s all tough and that he’s hot shit, but some of his habits you can’t help but laugh at
For starters, Sodo is the type of ghoul to be scared of really dumb stuff. Take hamsters for example
Sodo has this really inexplainable fear of hamsters. One day you picked up a cute little hamster from the pet store, and he hissed and erupted in flames the moment you brought it near him
“Sodo its just a hamster—“
“GET THAT THING’S FILTHY PAWS AWAY FROM ME.”
Aether once pranked him by putting a bunch of hamsters in his closet and he let out the most unmanly scream ever, it was funny
Oh and we all know Sodo has a habit of slapping people’s asses
It’s basically his trademark at this point
But there was this one particular time where he tried to slap your ass, but he somehow missed and accidentally slapped Copia’s ass instead
Needless to say, he spent a good while trying to explain to the unamused Papa that he didn’t mean to slap him, but the other pair of cheeks that was in front of him in that moment
He once played Five Nights At Freddy’s and he had nightmares about Freddy for a whole week
No joke, he once thought that Swiss was Freddy because he was so disoriented from a previous nightmare and he socked the poor guy in the nose
You forced him to apologize to Swiss after that
I imagine he’s also the type of ghoul to write stupid little messages and graffiti with a sharpie on his fellow ghouls faces
He once made you help him literally knock out Aether just so he could write “number one cocksucker” in big bold letters on his forehead
Needless to say, you two got chased around by the angry ghoul who was holding a fly swatter for a whole ten minutes
Also we all know damn well this man has a dirty mind
Like have you seen him on stage? Of course he does
He has a habit of slipping in sexual jokes and in innuendos every now and then, because he snickers when seeing people’s reactions
Though there was this one time where he made a comment about your ass and he got slapped across the face
Idk Sodo has a weird obsession with your ass
He has toned down on the jokes, but that doesn’t stop him from slipping up every now and then. And it’s quite obvious he won’t stop with those jokes anytime soon
Tumblr media
Rain is such a sweetie and we all know that
But sometimes he can be a little bit of a menace, even to you and his fellow bandmates
To start things off, we all know Rain is a clumsy little guy
Like he’s a walking talking disaster with trails of chaos in his wake. He can hold a glass for someone and drop it like not even ten seconds later
Well there was this one time where you were giving him strumming techniques for the next upcoming ritual
Sodo tapped him on the shoulder from behind to ask him for something. When Rain turned around he accidentally slapped Sodo in the face with the neck of his bass guitar
Sodo then stumbled back in pain and literally destroyed Mountain’s drum set. You were just standing there processing what just happened, and Copia just looked… disappointed.
Rain also collects a lot of plushies
He has a literal pile of squishmallows in the corner of his room. Sometimes he likes to bury himself in that little nook of his room.
He made a little pillow fort in that area for him to snuggle in. Sometimes he’ll invite you to come and watch movies with him in there
However he once impulsively bought so many plushies so they were all flooding his room. You opened the door to his room and they all came flooding out, with a very euphoric Rain on top of them
“…. Rain what are you doing?”
“Feeling great. Thank you, Y/N.”
You helped him organize all of those little plushies in his room afterwards, even giving some of them to Phantom (who was new at the time) as a little “welcome home” gift
As a water ghoul, Rain naturally enjoys water
However he has this really cute habit of splashing around in pools/tubs like he’s a bird in a birdbath, but he gets embarrassed about this fact because the ghouls tease him for it
You once caught him playing around in the a storm in such a manner, it was so cute seeing him so happy and enjoying himself
The minute he spotted you, he immediately got all embarrassed and shy, but you reassured him it was all good and that it was fine to be excited about water
Needless to say, he’s a lot more comfortable showing off that side to you now
Tumblr media
Oh Mountain. Sweet sweet darling Mountain
Like Rain, Mountain is a sweetie. However he tends to have his silly moments.
I’d like to imagine that Mountain often bumps his head on doorframes or walks
The fucker is really tall, I mean it’s hard to not hit something along the way.
So he has a habit of sticking his hand over his forehead to avoid bumping into anything, the poor guy
I’d also like to imagine that Mountain had that light skin stare
Like he doesn’t even mean to look creepy. He just… has a habit of zoning out, so therefore he looks like he’s staring into your soul
Though this does make him really good at staring contests. One time Swiss challenged him, and they lasted for ten minutes
Swiss needed eye drops after that
Also he deadass looks like a sleep paralysis demon when he stands
One night you couldn’t sleep so you went to the kitchen to get something to eat. Mountain happened to hear the noise your footsteps were making, so he went to check up on you
He was just standing in the doorframe… staring at you, making sure you were okay while you grabbed something from the fridge
Needless to say, when you turned around, you dropped Swiss’s leftover cheesecake you were gonna eat upon seeing the tall earth ghoul in the doorframe
Also your scream was loud as FUCK
“MOUNTAIN WHAT IN HELL— YOU ALMOST GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK! Why didn’t you say anything!?”
“… I don’t know. At least you’re okay.”
He apologized to you afterwards and promised to not accidentally spook you. Because for a moment you swore you saw the hat man
Mountain also rarely gets mad, the dude is as passive as a sheep
But the moment he gets angry… hide your children
The dude is scary as hell. Like, he’s even got Papa on his knees begging for mercy
There was one particular day during practices where Sodo and Aether were arguing a little too much. It’s normal for them to banter, but this particular day was getting out of hand
Everyone was already getting upset with them, even with Papa telling the two ghouls you knock it off, but of course they wouldn’t
Well, they didn’t until a drum from Mountain’s drum set came hurling towards both ghouls. Making the fire ghoul and quintessence ghoul yelp and duck instinctively
No one had noticed the fuming earth ghoul sitting in the corner up until that point. Everyone was speechless. Your jaw was on the floor even
Needless to say, Mountain apologized yet again, but now everyone knew not to fuck with Mountain after that
Tumblr media
Swiss is an… interesting specimen.
For starters he was accidentally summoned,
He was summoned at the same time as Aether. And they bonked heads upon getting summoned
It was rather funny seeing Papa being so confused as to why the ritual spell summoned two ghouls, and seeing said two ghouls yell at each other for bonking heads
But it all worked out because after Swiss showed off that he can literally do fucking anything, Papa just let him stay
And Swiss was the perfect flare of spice to add to Ghost, and he’s a sweet ghoul to be around
But that doesn’t stop him from being a literal menace to society
Swiss has a really strange habit of breaking into people’s rooms and just jumping on their beds to wake them up
All while he’s obnoxiously telling them to get up, much to the other’s annoyance
You once threw him across the room for waking you up, and Swiss was just laughing so hard on the floor when he saw your reaction
Since he’s quite literally known as the Swiss Army Ghoul, he’s good at almost everything.
Including cooking. He likes to cook a lot of meals for the people living in the ministry
Bro even has a stereotypical pink “kiss the cook” apron, he got it as a birthday gift from you
But the “cook” part is crossed out with a red sharpie and instead Swiss replaced with “dick”
Why? Because it’s fucking Swiss.
He also made it a point to bake everyone’s birthday cakes, but he’ll slip in something stupid to be funny
One time Cirrus was cutting her birthday cake and she got a whole ass doll head in there, which left her very confused
Swiss isn’t allowed to make people’s birthday cakes anymore because of that
Also sometimes Swiss will get high out of nowhere
No one knows what the fuck he’s doing because this ghoul is all over the place, but when he’s high he says the most out of pocket stuff
There was this one time he messaged the ghoul group chat while taking an edible saying “this edible is weak as shit.”
But then right after that message, he attached a picture of you and sent it with the caption “I’ve always wanted to fuck them.”
You could hear Sodo’s laughter from his room after that.
And when Swiss got sobered up, you asked him about the message, but bro literally refuses to acknowledge he sent it
“Swiss did you send that message from earlier—“
“No.”
“Then who did?”
“The hat man.”
“THE WHAT MAN?!”
“Oh so this suddenly isn’t a safe space?”
Tumblr media
Ah Aether. We all love Aether. I mean who doesn’t?
We all know how much of a little psycho Aether can be, but he’s a lovable psycho that just exerts a lot of fun energy
That doesn’t stop him from being a little fucker however
He likes to pull a lot of pranks with Swiss, Sodo unfortunately being his main target
So there was this one time he asked you to help him prank the poor fire ghoul, and you said yes because you felt like messing with Sodo
(And also partly because you were kinda pissed with him due to the fact that he ate your leftovers)
So the prank was to put a bunch of sticky notes in Sodo’s room that all read “big cock energy” (because of course it did)
However during the process of putting the sticky notes in the room, Sodo walked in on two idiotic fools, those fools being you and Aether of course
And it’s safe to say that for a solid twenty minutes, the two of you were running around the ministry with an angry flaming fire ghoul hot on your trail, giggling like little children
(Sodo spared you, but Aether wasn’t so lucky)
“SODO PLEASE SPARE ME— WHY SPARE Y/N?!?!!”
“Because I hate them less than you, NOW C’MERE—“
Aether once fell asleep with a rotten ass banana peel
Like no joke— you once walked in his room to ask for something and his whole room STANK of rancid and rotten banana
And Aether was just sitting there, confused as to why you looked like you were about to throw up on his bedroom floor
Rain had to fucking disinfect the room (with a gas mask because it smelled that bad)
Oh and you Rain breaks things? Aether is so much worse
He once tried to clean up Swiss’s mic stand for an upcoming tour and the damn thing just- fell apart
Swiss was more bewildered than upset, because how in hell does that happen?
You literally do not let him touch your equipment because he’s gonna somehow find a way to break it all
When Aether departed from Ghost you were very sad
But then he messaged the group chat with this message “I’ll miss all of you fuckers. Be nice to the new ghoul, love all of you <33 (except for you Sodo, fuck you)”
Sodo then bursted out of his room tackling Aether, but it was more so out of love rather than being an ass
Needless to say, you all still keep in touch with Aether
Tumblr media
Phantom!!! We all love Phantom here
Since he was newer and the one of the more recently summoned ghouls, he had a hard time fitting in
But you and the other ghouls thankfully made him feel welcome, even if it took a little more time for some other ghouls to get used to him
And because of that, it didn’t take long for Phantom to start joking in the ghoul chaos
He is literally a walking meme
Phantom is the type of guy to quote old vines and also keep up with any meme trends
Part of being the youngest ghoul I guess
He often confuses Papa with his little antics (because he’s an old man), and you’re just silently laughing at Papa’s reactions to Phantom
Also Phantom has a habit of holding things weirdly
You thought it was just his guitar? Bestie no, the dude is holding things the wrong way all the time but still somehow makes it work
Like— he holds onto a pen like it’s about to grow a pair of legs and run out of his hand, but he still somehow has the most beautiful cursive handwriting there is
“…. Phantom— what are you doing? You’re holding that pen like it’s a—“
“Hush, Y/N. I’m writing everything I want for Christmas this year.”
Phantom can also be a bit of a nerd sometimes
Like— you know those kids in school that are so dorky and have that awkward teenager energy? But you can’t be annoyed at them because they’re so cute? Yeah, that’s Phantom
Man’s will ramble about the most nerdy thing so passionately that you can’t help but listen, it’s cute seeing him get all excited over… legos or something
Oh and if someone dares to insult his passion he will spread legos all over their room
(Poor Swiss was a victim of that unfortunately)
Oh yeah he almost once accidentally vacuumed Copia’s pet rat
The dude was just trying to clean up his room, and one of the little fuckers scurried in his room, and the rat’s tail got stuck in the vacuum
Phantom’s high pitched scream upon realization was enough to have you bolting in the room to check in on the poor ghoul
And you were met with the sight of Phantom desperately trying to pull out a screaming rat from the vacuum while the ghoul was on the verge of tears because he didn’t want to get scolded
You ended up helping him because no one wants to see Phantom sad
And it’s safe to say Copia now has one pet rat with no tail.

Growing Pains
Mountain does his best to welcome Phantom as he transitions to life in the ministry. It’s not easy though. The touched starved newbie is having trouble settling in, afraid to ask for comfort and physical affection.

“Hmm? Oh hey Bug.” Mountain lowers his book to see Phantom standing in the common room doorway.
The new summon looks around the room nervously. Only when he sees that the room is empty, except for Mountain, does he relax a little. “Hey Mount. Mind if I sit with you?”
“Not at all.” Mountain pats the couch cushion next to him invitingly.
“Thanks.” Phantom slips over and perches on the far edge of the couch. He leaves a significant gap between him and Mountain.
The earth ghoul doesn’t mind, just returns to his book and Phantom settles down.
They sit like that for a while. A comfortable silence only broken by the turning of pages. And soft snoring.
Mountain glances over to see Phantom fast asleep. He’s curled into a tight ball, his arms and tail wrapped around his legs, knees pressed to his chest. He lays his head on the armrest.
Mountain just shakes his head and smiles.
This isn't the first time this has happened. Several times before, Phantom has sought out Mountain when he’s on his own. He then generally proceeds to fall right to sleep, curled up in a corner. Sometimes Mountain is in the common room like now. Sometimes he’s out in the green house, sometimes in the library.
Phantom seems to be integrating well. Everybody adores him. He’s sweet, friendly, and energetic. He’s a whiz at guitar and has been advancing fast.
Mountain has noticed another side to him though. Although he masks it well, Phantom gets easily overwhelmed by highly social settings.
He can mesh incredibly well with the rest of the pack. He’s joined in on movie nights, playing video games with Dew and Swiss, baking with Sunny and Aurora. He even let Cumulus paint his nails.
However, as soon as that activity or moment is over, Phantom quickly becomes scarce. The pack usually finds him hours later, napping in some quiet nook or cranny.
As a result, Mountain is happy that Phantom feels comfortable around him. He never asks or pushes. Just provides a quiet presence that seems to make Phantom feel at ease.
Mountain does his best to wait until Phantom wakes again, not wanting to leave him to wake up on his own. Sometimes he gets pulled away by chores or someone needing something. Fortunately today he’s left alone to read and watch over the sleeping ghoul.
When Phantom finally does stir, he quietly gets up and waves goodbye. Then he wanders off to rejoin the rest of the pack as if he’d been there all day.
Mountain just throws out a soft, “see you later”, as Phantom slips out the door.
-----
A few days later, Mountain is laying out on the lawn. It’s a gorgeous spring day; slightly chilly still in the shade, but delightfully warm in the sun spots.
He’d flopped down onto the soft grass after tending to his plants in the green house. Before he knew it, he’d fallen asleep. He wakes sometime later to feel someone nestled up beside him.
Mountain raises his head from the grass to see a fluffy mop of black hair, intersected by a white stripe, pillowed in the crook of his arm. Phantom sleeps blissfully, eyes closed and a slight smile on his lips. Mountain doesn’t remember Phantom coming over and figures the young ghoul must have shown up after he’d fallen asleep.
Mountain can’t resist the urge to reach over with his free hand and gently brush Phantom’s hair out of his face. He swears the quint leans into his hand, though he doesn’t open his eyes. Encouraged, Mountain begins to run his claws down Phantom’s scalp, lightly scratching back and forth. This time, Phantom’s movement is unmistakable as he rolls over slightly.
Mountain curses, figuring he’s about to wake up. Instead, Phantom only scooches in closer, pressing into his side. Mountain sighs in relief and continues combing through Phantom’s hair.
They stay curled up like that for a while. It was late afternoon when Mountain first laid down; it’s got to be early evening by this point. The sun hovers on the far western side of the sky, painting the heavens pink and orange.
As much as Mountain hates to risk disturbing the sleeping quintessence ghoul, he doesn’t want to sleep out here all night. Nor does he intend to leave Phantom out here to wake up alone.
As gently as possible, Mountain eases out from underneath Phantom, and sits up. He admires the sleeping ghoul. Although he normally sleeps balled up, now he’s stretched out in an effort to make as much physical contact with Mountain as possible.
Phantom whimpers softly at the loss of warmth and begins to knead the air like he's looking for the earth ghoul even in his sleep. Mountain redoubles his efforts to bring Phantom inside with him. He slides his palms under Phantom’s back and legs and carefully scoops him up into his arms. When he stands, the sleeping ghoul doesn’t stir. Only nestles his face into Mountain’s chest.
Mountain carries Phantom all the way up the hill and into the Ministry. He awkwardly leans down to grasp the door handle and pull it open, then catches the door with his foot. Once he successfully maneuvers inside, sideways so as to not bump the doorframe, he makes his way to the ghoul wing.
The common room is empty so Mountain settles Phantom down on the couch in his favorite spot, before sitting down next to him. He resumes petting Phantom's head until the young ghoul finally begins to wake on his own.
His violet and milky white eyes blink open and then squint in confusion as he looks around him.
“Have a good nap?” Mountain asks kindly. “I didn’t think you wanted to sleep outside all night so I brought you inside. I hope that’s okay.”
Phantom ducks his head in embarrassment but says sincerely, “Yeah. Thanks Mount. What time is it?”
“About seven-forty.”
“Shit. I didn’t mean to sleep that long. Have you eaten yet?”
“Not yet. If you’re hungry we can go ahead and head over. There should still be some food left.”
“Okay.”
The pair head over to the kitchens, Phantom pressed up to Mountain’s side the whole way. Only once they enter do they separate.
After grabbing food, they meet up with the rest of the pack and eat together. Mountain watches Phantom all the while. Phantom integrates as well as he always does. Laughing and smiling, joining in on telling stories and light rough housing. Underneath it all though, Phantom’s fatigue is just barely masked.
After they’ve all eaten, Aether proposes a movie night. Mountain barely catches Phantom’s frown before his amicable smile slips back into place and he adds his own movie suggestions to the fray. Everyone crowds into the common room and starts to settle in. Before things can get started however, Mountain excuses himself.
“Sorry guys. I’m really wiped tonight. I’ll catch the next one.”
The others tease gently about Mountain’s early bedtime but otherwise bid him goodnight.
Before stepping out into the hall, Mountain catches Phantom’s gaze.
The ghoul is nestled in one of the arm chairs, a smile on his face but the lashing of his tail betraying his discomfort.
Mountain tips his head towards the hall before raising his brow.
Phantom nods pleadingly.
Mountain smiles, makes a beckoning motion, and then heads to his room. Making sure to prop the door open, he settles down on his bed. He doesn’t have to wait long before Phantom pokes his black and white striped mane in.
“Is it okay if I sleep in here with you tonight.” He asks, as if Mountain hadn’t already offered to let him do just that.
“Of course Bug. My door’s always open.”
“Okay.” He chirps, hopping up on the bed and making himself comfortable. Rather than curl into a ball at the far side of the bed, Phantom snuggles up right against Mountain.
Mountain chuffs. “Well aren’t you a cuddle bug.” He pulls his blankets up over them both before wrapping his arms around the quintessence ghoul. “Comfy? Warm enough?”
“Yeah.” Phantom sighs happily.
“Lamp on or off?”
“On if you don’t mind.”
“Not at all.”
“Thanks. Night Mount.”
“Sweet dreams Bug.”
-----
When Mountain wakes in the morning, he’s surprised to see Phantom already awake. Sometime in the night, Phantom had snuggled even closer, resting his head on Mountain’s chest.
“Good morning.” Mountain says between yawns. “Sleep well?”
Phantom looks up and hums lazily. “Yeah.”
Mountain nuzzles his forehead. “Good.” He’d be perfectly content to lay here all morning, letting Phantom use him as a pillow, but somewhere across the abbey, bells begin to chime. Mountain humphs quietly at the reminder that they really should be getting up for Mass.
It’s Phantom who disentangles himself first. “I guess we should get going.”
Mountain reluctantly nods his head. “Right behind you.”
The two separate, Phantom running to his own room to change into his uniform. When Mountain sees him again in the chapel, Phantom is back to mingling with the others exuberantly.
Mountain watches Phantom from afar all day. He expects the quintessence ghoul to need to retreat to nap at some point and he wants to be ready to provide that comforting space.
Instead, Phantom seems even more lively than usual. He’s already spritely and energetic most days. However today, Mountain realizes; Phantom lacks the underlying fatigue that normally tempers his energy. He seems so at home, laughing and chatting with everyone.
Mountain is glad to see it, happy that his pack mate is feeling rested and not hindered by exhaustion. Mountain is sure he hasn’t seen Phantom this cheery in all of his short time at the abbey.
That night, when the ghouls gather for game night in the common room, Phantom still is going strong. He’s playing a lively game monopoly with Dew, Rain and Swiss. The ghoulettes are doing a puzzle and Mountain is playing Uno with Aether.
Mountain means at some point to ask the young ghoul if he wants to sleep with him again tonight, but he gets distracted when Rain plants himself in his lap.
“Hey Rainy? What's up?” Mountain looks down from his hand of Uno cards to the ghoul in his lap.
“I went bankrupt.” He pouts before turning to Aether. “Things aren’t going well for Dew. The board is gonna get flipped soon.”
Aether chuffs. “Haha okay.”
Mountain and Aether resume their game and manage to get a few more turns in before shouting and laughing come from the corner of the room. Sure enough, the game board, little houses, cards, and player tokens go flying, and a grumpy fire ghoul comes stomping over.
“C’mere Firefly.” Aether waves, tossing down his cards. Sorry Mount. Guess I’m done for now.
“It’s fine.” Mountain smiles, dropping his own cards. “Now I can do this.” He lowers his hands around Rain’s waist and proceeds to tickle him.
“Hey! Stop it-haha!”
“That’s what you get for sticking your tail up my shirt, you little shit.” Mountain laughs. Before the game had been interrupted, Rain had been teasing Mountain with his tail, sneaking the spade under the hem of his shirt and running over his chest.
Distracted by the impromptu wrestling match with Rain, Mountain misses as Phantom slips by and disappears down the hall.
-----
Mountain ends up spending the night with Rain; their tickle fight turning less than innocent, before they both fall to sleep exhausted. Only at breakfast the next morning does Mountain realize he forgot to check on the young quintessence ghoul. He winces as he sees Phantom.
He’s seated at the ghoul’s kitchen table. He’s making conversation and laughing, but his fatigue is back. His posture is slouched and he has the beginnings of dark circles under his eyes. He keeps having to fight to stifle yawns. When he notices Mountain’s eyes on him, he waves cheerfully but Mountain can’t help but feel bad.
Mountain sits across from him, the seats either side of Phantom occupied by Swiss and Aether. Rain settles in next to Mountain, leaning into his side. When Mountain doesn’t reciprocate with an arm around him or a purr, Rain looks up and paws at the earth ghoul’s shoulder.
“What’s wrong?” He mouths.
“Bug.” Mountain whispers back.
Rain glances over at the quintessence ghoul then back to Mountain with a concerned expression.
“Is he sick? He doesn’t look well.”
Mountain considers how to explain the pattern he’s noticed with Phantom’s napping habits when he’s interrupted by Cumulus announcing that the pancakes are ready. He has to wait until after breakfast before he’s able to pull Rain aside in the hallway.
“So what’s wrong with Ant?” Rain asked worriedly. Over breakfast, he’d picked up on the fatigue plaguing the quint ghoul.
“I don’t think he’s getting enough sleep.” Mountain explains. “You know how he’s constantly napping?”
Rain nods. “Yeah, I found him asleep in the practice room storage closet once. He said he was looking for spare guitar strings but then he didn’t come back for like half an hour. I found him curled up in the back corner, out cold.”
“He’s always falling asleep during the day, and in the oddest places. Whenever we go looking for him, he’s never in his room.” That was indeed the case. After about the first week of Phantom’s time at the abbey, everyone gave up checking his room when looking for him. He was simply never there during the day.
“Do you think he’s not adjusting alright? He hasn’t said anything but he’s shy and pretty new so he might not feel able to speak up for himself”
Mountain hums thoughtfully. “I think you’re onto something.”
“So what do we do?”
“We help him whatever way we can. I’m going to go check on him and see if I can get him to open up and tell me what’s wrong.”
“Okay. I’ll let the other’s know and see if they’ve noticed anything. I think I saw Ant slip away after breakfast so you might have your work cut out for you finding him.”
“Alright. I’d better get started then.”
The two ghouls split, going about their respective tasks. Mountain can hear Rain heading into the common room and talking to the others. The earth ghoul heads away from the noise and begins to sweep every quiet nook and cranny of the ghoul wing. When he doesn’t find the quint, Mountain widens the search radius to the rest of the abbey buildings and finally the outer grounds. It takes the rest of the morning and into the afternoon, but he eventually finds him. Phantom has wedged himself under a work table in the green house.
The ghoul is sitting in his normal sleeping position, knees pressed to his chest and arms and tail wrapped around himself. Mountain expects to find him asleep but instead he’s wide awake. And crying. His bunched up frame shakes as he sobs.
“Oh Bug.” Mountain coos. “What’s wrong?”
Phantom startles, his head jolting up before cracking into the underside of the table. Whimpers of pain add to his sobs as he scrunches up tighter, rubbing his head.
“Satanas.” Mountain grumbles at causing the ghoul more pain, even if it was accidental. He sinks down to his knees so he’s level with the crying ghoul and tries again. “I’m sorry I startled you. Is there anything I can do to help?”
Phantom slowly raises his head. His eyes are red from crying and his cheeks tear stained. Without a word, he shuffles out from under the table and presses himself up against Mountain’s side.
“Hey love.” He purrs. “Need a hug?” Mountain has barely opened his arms before Phantom is crawling into his lap. He presses his face into the earth ghoul’s chest.
“It’s okay, Bug. Let it out.” Mountain rubs his back and scratches gently at his scalp. “I’m here.”
Phantom’s sobs slowly begin to ebb. His tense frame relaxes and his breaths become slower and deeper. Mountain looks down and realizes that the young ghoul, worn out from fatigue and crying, is fast asleep.
Like he did a couple nights before, Mountain gently carries Phantom back to the abbey, this time opting to bring him to his room. He settles the sleeping ghoul on his bed and curls in next to him. Once Phantom is settled he sends a text to Rain.
Mountain: Found him. Bug was in the green house. Brought him to my room.
Rain: Okay, on my way over.
Rain knocks a few minutes later.
“Come in.” Mountain calls softly.
Rain enters and carefully shuts the door behind him. “How is he?” He whispers.
Mountain gestures down at the sleeping ghoul in his arms. “Better now I think.”
Rain nods before coming over to the bed. As carefully as possible, he slides under the covers and curls up to spoon Phantom’s back. The two of them hold the quintessence ghoul, as they speak in hushed tones. Mountain tells Rain about how he found Phantom in the greenhouse.
“Poor thing. I checked with the others and yeah. They noticed something was up too but didn’t want to push. He’s always so skittish whenever anyone asks how he’s doing.”
“I don’t want to force the issue either but we need to know what's going on so we can help.”
“Yeah. Let’s let him rest for now though. He needs it.”
“Okay.” Mountain agrees. Soon though, they would be getting to the bottom of this.
-----
When Phantom wakes up, he seems slightly surprised to see that Rain is also present. He doesn’t say anything though. Just shyly thanks Mountain for coming to check on him, assures them both that he’s fine, just tired, and he disappears out the door. Mountain and Rain let him leave but they watch him closely for the rest of the evening. The rest of the pack does as well, clued in.
Phantom is smiling and laughing like usual. However, his underlying fatigue is so undeniably present that everyone wonders why they didn’t notice or say something sooner. In response, they all try their best to be gentle with him. All pet names and gentle touches. Just trying to help him even if they don’t know how.
Mountain is finally the one to bridge the uncomfortable subject when Phantom curls into bed with him that night.
“Hey Bug. Are you adjusting to life topside alright?”
Phantom blinks at the question no one had yet to ask. He goes to wave it off. Say he’s fine and doing great. But the look in Mountain’s face; full of care, and love, and concern. He can’t lie to him.
“I-I…I don’t know.” He says quietly. He can’t make eye contact, staring at the rumpled sheets instead.
“It’s okay if not. There’s nothing wrong if-”
“I can’t sleep.” Phantom interrupts suddenly. His eyes go wide as he does but he can’t stop.
The dam breaks.
“I can’t…I can’t fucking sleep!” He sobs, tears welling up. “I have these nightmares. And I hate being alone but I also can’t find the energy to keep up with everyone. I-I…why me? Why did they summon me? Sooner or later they're going to realize I’m not good enough and-and…I don’t want to go back.” He gasps and hiccups, tears falling freely now. “I don’t want to go back. I…I…please?” He grips fistfuls of the sheets as if they’re the only thing keeping him grounded.
“Oh Bug.” Mountain’s heart breaks as he wraps his arms around the little ghoul. “No one is going to send you back there. No one. I won’t let them.” He growls protectively, holding Phantom tighter.
“Bu-but-”
“No one.” Mountain can’t help but snarl, anger building at whatever happened to make Phantom feel this way.
Phantom flinches at the sound and Mountain winces immediately softening his tone to a purr. He begins to rub the quintessence ghoul’s back and brush the tears off his freckled cheeks.
“You’re here because you’re meant to be here. You’re a part of our pack now and that’s not going to change. I’m so sorry we weren’t there for you from the beginning. That’s our failing not yours. But we’re here for you now. Whatever you want or need, we’re here. We all adore you so much because of who you are. No one could ever replace you.”
Phantom sniffles. “Really?”
“Really.”
“Of course Ant.” Both ghouls look up to Rain standing in the doorway. The door is pushed further ajar.
“I’m sorry we didn’t check on you sooner sweetheart.” Swiss files in.
The ghoulettes follow close behind and dog pile Phantom. “We love you so much!” Aurora says as Cirrus, Cumulus, and Sunny nod and chirp their agreement.
“And if anyone tries to doubt you, I’ll make them regret it.” Dew promises as he and Aether bring up the rear.
“He will too.” Aether chuckles. “You’re amazing Ant. Not just on stage, which you're spectacular at by the way. But just for being your wonderful self.”
Phantom wants to shrink under the sudden attention. He hates that everyone has to see him like this. Deal with him like this. He must be annoying them. Inconveniencing them. But then, would they be here if they didn’t care? He fights to catch his breath enough to speak.
“T-thanks you guys. I love you too.” And he means it.
Even with the stress of filling Aether’s shoes on stage, sleepless nights, and his whole world getting literally turned on its head. His time with the pack is the most alive he's ever felt. He’s only known them for a few months but he doesn’t know what he’d do without them. To know they feel that same about him. To know they love him just as deeply. It doesn’t make all his insecurities disappear but he can ignore them for a while.
The pack scoops Phantom up, blankets and all, and brings him to the common room. There they all curl up with him at the center, surrounded in warmth and love. That night, he has one of his first truly restful nights of sleep topside.
-----
Waking rested is still a feeling Phantom is getting used to. He loves it though; not spending his days in a half asleep haze, sneaking in naps if and when possible just to function. If anything, he’s become even more rambunctious than anyone thought possible. Nobody minds though; more than happy to see him finally thriving.
Everybody immediately gets to work helping make things more comfortable for him. They start with his room. Phantom admits that the reason he’s so tired and can’t sleep is that he hates his room. It’s too dark, and bare, and lonely. He feels too isolated in there. The immediate fix is for Phantom to room with the other ghouls, swapping rooms every night. It allows everyone to spend quality time with him one at a time and really get to know him without the noise and commotion of everyone all at once.
As he rotates rooms though, Mountain gets to work on making Phantom’s room into a comfortable safe space. Enlisting Copia’s help, as well as his access to the Ministry’s credit card, Mountain organizes a trip to buy furniture and decorations for Phantom. Copia is more than happy to help, similarly ashamed he wasn’t there for Phantom earlier on. He personally escorts and supervises Phantom, Mountain, and Rain in their shopping as well as helping assemble the furniture and decorating.
To Phantom’s delight, in the couple of days it took to convince Phantom to go furniture shopping and then to complete the purchases, Aurora, with the rest of the ghoulettes help, has painted a gorgeous mural over his bedroom ceiling of a starry night sky, complete with glow in the dark paint for the stars. He can’t stop thanking her for several days afterwards.
With new furniture and decorations, Phantom has to agree he feels much more at home. He appreciates though, that each ghoul takes turns rooming with him now to help break in the new space. The scent of all his packmates in the room is comforting and makes him feel less alone. With time, he’s able to see his room as a quiet sanctuary from the noise and chaos of the Ministry.
He’s also gained enough confidence to ask for comfort when he wants or needs it. His favorite place to sleep is still the common room in a ghoul cuddle pile, but his room no longer feels so lonely. It takes time, but he finally feels at home.

Sodo: whats wrong with him? *dragging newly summoned Phantom into Copias office*
Copia: what? What happened?!
Sodo: he’s so innocent and nice. *frowning as Phantom cluelessly grins at Copias rats*
Copia: I think it’s just his nature.
Sodo: why?
Copia: we’re all different. *watching Phantom boop his rats on the nose*
Sodo: oh.. that’s okay I guess. I’ll be an asshole for both of us. *dragging Phantom out of Copias office*

Parent's Ghost
This is my fic for @ecto-implosion! I wrote it based on the art by the talented @jackalspine
The little ectoblobs are made of the emotional residue of the creatures around them like dust bunnies. The Fenton house is full of both ectoplasm and emotional residue. So what happens after Danny is injured by his parents?

Danny walked along the power lines. Not on the ground, that was for people who liked getting doused with rain water everytime a car came by. It was way cooler strolling along, way above the headlights cutting blindly through the splintery drizzle that made this evening’s twilight so dim. Danny adroitly floated around a buzzing insulator that snapped testilly at every rain drop. He continued his stroll, placing his feet just a finger’s breadth above the black wire.
He supposed he should be grateful for the drizzle, and the quiet evening that was proof of the apparent absence of ghosts to hunt. But really, he was bored. Bored, and his brain was starting to prickle with dread as calculus equations and handwritten paragraphs echoed sinisterly in the back of his mind. The image of the homework he’d left piled in his room loomed closer over the horizon. On top was the English paper Lancer had assigned him.
He’d written two sentences for the paper’s intro before flying out his window to patrol. So far it was disappointing him. He’d found a wisp of a ghost bear rooting around in the Nasty Burger dumpster and an old granny who wasn’t bothering anybody except the park’s population of stray cats. It was getting uncomfortably more obvious that tonight his biggest responsibility was going to be his homework.
Danny wrinkled his face. Figures, the one night he wanted a distraction, Amity decided it was time for peaceful quiet.
Even though he knew he should be heading home he just kept walking along the wire. He folded his arms behind his head and kept an eye upward, hoping the clouds would break up.
It was just on the edge of too cold. The drops that hit his shoulders and head were like needling icy fingers, prodding him to go home and take cover inside six warm walls. Leave the world to the rain to whom it belonged. He stuck his tongue out at the sky and pulled his phone out of his belt pouch.
The cracked screen pulsed unhappily at him with aberrant colors. He tilted it forward, trying to shield it from the beads of water that rolled off it with bent light. There were no new messages from Sam, but Tucker was asking about that English assignment. Danny groaned and scrubbed his fingers through his hair in frustration. He knew what he should be doing, the universe knew what he should be doing, he’d cut off his toes and feed it to the resident ghost cats before he wrote one more word tonight. He locked his ankles together, drifting a little higher over the powerline while he texted back.
“Hey, Ghost scum!” was his only warning before something exploded off to his left. The acid green light of ecto-based ammunition froze the rain in the air in a single flash. It competed and instantly won against the dim sky, lighting up the undersides of tree limbs and throwing everything into a sharp lime light.
Danny automatically threw his hands over his face, then flew up, searching the ground through the spots in his vision for the interrupters.
“Damn it, Mads, I missed him again,” came the only slightly quieter voice. Danny’s grin spread sharply when he spotted his mom and dad crouched behind some bushes.
He floated tauntingly lower. “Hey, I was walking there. How’d you like it if I threw missiles at you when you were on an evening stroll?”
“I’d say you were showing off your true nature, ghost,” Jack cried, pointing a finger at him. The shiny black rubber of his gloves reflected the yellow globe of the streetlight that hummed, lonely in the rain. The single illumination of the deserted road. “An evil, mindless blob of ectoplasmic residue that’s grown too comfortable in the mortal plane.”
Danny hovered in place, daring on whatever happened next. “At least I’d be able to hit you, in that way I am pretty good.”
Maddy was scrambling to quickly reload the gun. It looked like pretty heavy artillery. It might be strong enough to blow him to pieces if the spots still dancing in his vision were anything to believe. Of course, it would have to hit him first. Lucky for him, it looked like it was going to take Maddy a while, and Danny had plenty of time to antagonize his parents. He floated lower, leaning back in the air and crossing his legs. “Don’t you two have somewhere better to be than out in the rain following an innocent ghost around?”
“No such thing,” Maddy hissed, still fighting over the guts of the big gun.
“Menace to society you mean,” Jack shouted up.
Danny stuck his tongue out at them and raised his arms with limp wrists like the classic ghost. “Boo.”
“You won’t be saying boo when my wife reloads and splatters your ectoplasm– er,”
Maddy threw down her new rocket launcher in disgust.
“No good, Mad’s?”
Danny looked on in utter delight as Maddie began riffling through the duffle bag at their feet. “I can’t get the damn thing to work with this rain.”
“My bad, Honey. In mark two, I’ll prioritize simplification and ease of use.”
“You can’t have everything in one gun, dear, your design is wonderful just as it is. Only a little tweaking I think.” Danny gagged overtop of them before they could get really sappy. They whipped back around, on guard again. Maddy stood up from the duffle bag this time with the net gun in her hands. She braced herself to fire.
Danny sighed and shook his head. “You folks need to figure out when it’s time to pack up and save it for another day.” He accumulated a ball of ectoplasm between his fingers and lobbed it at Maddie’s feet. She dived to the side and came up on her knees. They locked eyes and she pulled the trigger. The net burst out with a puff of gunpowder.
Danny flew to the side, but a corner of the net collided with his leg. The cords snapped around his boot, quickly tangling when he tried to shake it off. He grumbled, annoyed. But still, no problem. The cord was treated to be anti ghost so he couldn’t phase out, but he had a lot of energy humming in his chest that had gone unused all day long. He smiled grimly. So, they wanted to catch a ghost? This was going to be fun. He twisted around and propelled himself up above the treeline. Maddy yelped beneath him. He glanced back to see her feet were dragging in the ground and she was barely holding onto the gun over her head. He put on another burst of speed and her toes lifted off the ground.
Jack leaped to grab it from her. He braced his feet and grunted with the strain of holding Danny earthward. She let him have it and ran back for the duffel bag. Danny wasn’t quite strong enough to lift Jack off his feet, not without phasing the big man partly out of the physical world. Danny soon found himself fighting just to stay in the air.
Jack clung onto the rope doggedly. They both seemed pretty determined today to reel him in. No matter how he flew Jack was stubbornly holding on. As though he actually believed he and the phase-proof line could reassert the laws of gravity that Danny had gotten so used to ignoring.
He was starting to feel a little too much like a toy kite for his liking. Careful to keep the line taut, he bent over his leg to tug at the tangled cords of the net. He was just starting to make progress, a pile of freed loops dropping to hang form his boot, when he heard a pop from below. An instant later a bolt screamed through his arm. He recoiled, grabbing his arm tight.
The ectoplasm of his arm had been sheered away and hollowed out like a stick of butter in a microwave. Beads of ectoplasm rolled over the creases of his white gloves.
Looked like Maddy had finally got the gun to work again.
“Hey,” he yelled down. “You missed my vital organs. For all the time you spend hunting me, I’d expect you’d at least be good at it!” He aimed down along the perfectly straight line drawn between him and his dad. As perfect as a math equation, from point a to point b. He didn’t even have to aim.
Jack dropped backward, electric green smoldering in his orange jumpsuit. Danny buoyed up into the air, cord and gun and all. He would have gotten away then, and he was already thinking about what in hell he was going to write for his damned English paper.
Maddy dropped the gun and leaped over Jack. She jumped for the cord before it could get away from her. Her fingers wrapped around the handle of the gun, jerking Danny back down. She’d pulled something out of her jumpsuit. Danny saw the flash of the Fenton Ghost Taser™ an instant before she pressed it against the taut cord.
Danny cried out. His body instantly seized up, all his muscles vibrating, making his teeth chatter together. The searing pain that traced the path of the electricity came as a secondary thunder clap. He dropped out of the air.
He hit the first branches like a second shock. Thousands of tiny twigs crackled under his descent. As he traveled lower he hit branches that bent, then broke. He caught a glimpse of the ground. All scattered with brown, lance shaped leaves. Then he hit.
***
“Ow,” he groaned, pushing himself up. He batted bits of dead leaves out of his hair and suit, making sure he was all still there. He felt like his parents had hit him with the earth like a wrecking ball. He looked up, staggering a little with the tilt in perspective, up through the hole he’d smashed through the perfectly nice canopy the tree had been working on for who knew how long. Maybe he’d been the wrecking ball.
He had to sit down a moment, his entire body felt burned and achy from the taser. He fished one spikey piece of branch out of the side of his boot. He’d taken bigger hits and farther falls, but when he couldn’t catch himself the stupid part of him still expected to die everytime. He looked up again, ignoring the ringing in his head. He’d fallen into a damn thick patch of alders and bushes— honestly amazing he’d found any flat hard ground to hit at all.
The phase-proof cord— one end still tangled around his leg, wandered off into the underbrush. He could hear his parents thrashing around in the distance.
Danny quickly shook off his distraction and jammed his fingers into the knotted mess around his leg. He worked and pulled at the strands, brow furrowed into determined concentration. If he turned human he could slip out in an instant, but he didn’t want to risk one of his parents spotting it through the bushes. He kept glancing up to check how close they’d gotten before returning to the net. Of all the things, why did he not keep a knife on him? His parents had made a ghost thermos and laser lipstick. Why not a Fenton Knife™?
Their crashing was getting closer. He stubbornly kept his head down, focused on his scrambling fingers and ignoring the loud sounds of Jack and Maddy following the anti-ghost cord right to him. He just needed to figure out where it had gotten tangled. A careless movement reminded him of the hole seared into his arm. Oh, ow. He’d almost forgotten about that.
There, he’d found an edge. He freed it from a few misplaced cords, then twisted it, wrapped it back, passed it under his leg, and finally he could pull his leg free. He kicked the limp coil of net away and climbed to his feet. He could see patches of orange jumpsuit through the trees now. He gritted his teeth, pushing down the temper he could feel rearing up. They didn’t know— no. They didn’t care. He’d turned into a ghost under their noses, in their own workshop, and they’d never even noticed.
He tested his arm with a hand. He still could barely feel it but he could already tell it was going to hurt when he got home and slipped back into his human skin. He winced when his fingers came away green.
Danny stepped up into the air, flickering out of the visible spectrum.
***
The drizzle was still hesitant to turn into an actual rain when Danny floated outside his home. The neon sign buzzed faintly, briefly illuminating the drops that fell from the sky green, as though it was raining ectoplasm.
Carefully, Danny pulled open his window and slipped inside. He let go of his invisibility and dropped heavily to the floor. A blanket he’d kicked off the bed bunched uncomfortably under his back and elbow, and his boot was chewing up the pages of a book he’d left open in the middle of the room, but right now he didn’t care.
He stared up at his ceiling, at the sickly plastic of his glow-in-the-dark stars. It wasn’t dark enough yet for them to light up. The drizzle patted softly against the roof, like the Fenton building was a strange and unusual cat it didn’t quite know how to stroke. His arm ached dreadfully but he ignored it. A glancing thought reminded him of the English paper he’d sworn he’d finish tonight. He turned over, squeezing his fingers into his torn up arm. He scowled into the dark shadows that clung to the floor of his room. He’d do it tomorrow.
***
He came out of a dull fog with something nudging his leg. He hissed and kicked at it, then groaned. He was so sore from the electricity that had pulsed  through ever fiber of muscle he owned. He cracked an eye open. It was dark. Rain shadows mottled the dim light from the neon sign outside that the window cast onto the floor beside him. The constant buzz of rain on the roof made him realize he was still cold and damp. He curled tighter into himself, closing his eyes to try and go back to sleep. Well, it had decided to rain after all.
Another nudge against his leg made him open his eyes in annoyance. It was a tiny blob ghost, apparently small enough to get past his parents' sensors and definitely too small to cause real trouble. It sat in a ball by his foot, gazing him down with softly glowing red eyes.
“Shoo,” he said crossly. “I’m trying to sleep.”
Instead of going away, it drifted up closer to his face. It was certainly brazen in the face of a much stronger ghost. Danny drew himself up into a half crouch, unwilling to let even this mindless blob catch him down and out. “You should get going, you don’t want my parents to see you hanging around.”
Instead of listening to him, the blob rolled up to his hand. The surface of its ectoplasm rippled and then it plopped up a wet wad of bandages.
“Eeew, that’s gross.” But it did make Danny think to look at his injured arm. He grimaced. That gun was seriously concentrated. His arm was still hollowed out and dripping with green slime. He’d been slowly leaking as he slept and it had left a dark, wet spot on his twisted blanket that gleamed dully in the low light. “Shoot.”
The small blob made a tiny murmuring chirp. He looked back down at it and it nudged his hand. He’d never met a blob ghost so friendly. The ones he occasionally spotted in the house seemed peaceable enough, but he never let them get close. They were like fruit flies, they just appeared where their sustenance was. Normally they coalesced after fights, drawn to the spilled ectoplasm like ramora to sharks. Or maybe they were created by it. Who knows. They were skittish, unfriendly, and prone to hurting pets. He didn’t really know how to react to this one trying to cuddle up to him.
When its insistent bumps got no reaction, the blob instead snagged his sleeve. It bobbed up in the air, tugging him to stand up.
Suddenly there was another blob. It floated out from under his bed and tugged on his pant leg, seemingly for the same purpose.
Bemused, Danny stood. The room tilted. For a moment he couldn’t move except to sway on his legs. He almost jumped out of his skin when a third blob ghost appeared over his shoulder. It settled as solidly as a blob could on its perch and hummed and chirped in his ear. Its firm press reminded him of when his dad would clap him on the shoulder, his big warm hand a steadying weight.
The blob ghosts were still tugging on his clothes. So, Danny obeyed. He tottered tiredly toward his bed. He made the bed every day, but the blob ghosts must have been rifling through his room before they woke him up because all the blankets were half off.
Irritated, he fell into bed. He sighed as his pillow recieved his head with a puff. His ssense of gravity became even looser as the pillow cradled his skull. He might have been floating as unmoored as he felt. How he’d missed it. Did it seem poofier today or was he just really happy to be in bed?
He shivered at the cold sheets and shifted to curl into a ball, but the blob ghost was still holding onto his sleeve. He lifted his head to show a threatening row of teeth, but he didn’t have the energy for much else. He flared the energy of his core. It had never failed to to send blobs darting away like frightened mice. These ones didn’t.
The big one that had sat on his shoulder floated through the air, a long trail of white bandage fluttering beneath it like a tail. Danny was starting to be amused. At least this bandage wasn’t already sopping with ectoplasm.
The big blob hovered over the bed, edging the bandage closer to his wound. He didn’t know how to tell these things that you were supposed to disinfect stuff first. Whatever, at least it would stop him from soaking the mattress. He could deal with things properly tomorrow. In the morning when he felt less like a dead boy barely filling in his human skin. Yeah, whenever that happened.
***
He’d figured out how to scare them off the night he’d been following the trail of a giant, mutant ghost snake. He’d been chasing it for most of the night and the snake had left it’s mark on him and a large chunk of Amity Park. He’d been pretty sure it was dead but he didn’t want that one coming back to life to bite him in the ass. Again.
He’d found it in an old alleyway, its coils half hidden by mounds of trash. The huge snake had stopped moving. It was losing clarity fast and its scales were melting into the broken asphalt. The ambient ectoplasm its blood had added to the air made a glowing haze over the alley. It was also swarming with blobs. Like busy ants they flocked from one wound to the next, soaking it in like sugar water.
Danny had taken a step back, just like anyone who turned over a log and found it crawling with maggots. Danny blinked at them, squinting with one eye crusted half shut from the fight and the other rubbery with exhaustion. The way the blobs swarmed over the ghost’s corpse before it had even bled away out of their physical world made shivers prickle all over his shoulders. Slowly he backed away. He’d confirmed the snake wouldn’t be a threat anymore, his job was done.
He’d intended to leave the scene and creep away to finally go home, when his leg gave out and he slipped on the pavement. all the milling pairs of red eyes snapped to him. They hissed like a multi-tongued hoard of snakes. Automatically, Danny flared his core. He’d gritted his teeth, staring them down, thinking very hard about how much bigger and fiercer he was, how easy to squish them and fight them off his prey. The hand in front of him gained an unnatural edge, like a glowing afterimage. All the ghosts immediately fled, abandoning their immense feast.
After that he’d never had much trouble with the smaller ghosts. It didn’t make sense that these ones weren’t bothered about it.
Danny took the bandage from the bigger blob and pinched it to his arm, intending to wind it around with his teeth. Instead, the three blob ghosts seized it from him, letting him hold it in place while they passed it back and forth around his arm. Danny didn’t have to do anything before he was looking at a tidily wrapped bandage. He wasn’t even seeping through them yet.
“Thank you.” Uneasily he settled back onto his pillow, warily watching the blobs flit around like alien lights through half closed eyes.
The blob ghosts drifted like flotsam, their cool glow sliding over his freezing sheets to the glistening wood of his bedpost, then back again to bead on the dark wetness he’d spread on the floor and under his dry eyelids. His sight blurred and he realized again how tired he was, but now he’d been roused twice. He couldn’t relax with the huge, cold night huddling in the space of his bedroom. Especially not with the strange ghosts, mindless and helpful though they seemed to be.
The blobs didn’t seem to realize. They briefly floated down out of sight then reappeared holding up a blanket between them. As gently and softly as could be, they drew it over him. Two of them churred soothingly and patted the blanket around him as though they were trying to tuck him in. Danny wanted to laugh but instead he found himself sinking into his pillow, eyes blinking shut. After all, why shoo them off, he could defend himself from a couple of blobs. He yawned broadly. The third blob ghost drifted down to alight on his forehead, unexpectedly similar to the softness of a cool hand against a fever. Danny sighed and let it stay there. He already felt warmth spreading over him from the blankets, he was afraid to move or it would go away.
The other blob ghosts settled onto his blanket around his legs. Their light dimmed as though they were going to sleep. He finally relaxed enough for the transformation to slip over his head and down his legs. He shivered furiously for a moment, like the first steps out of a cold pool where he’d acclimated to a chill sort-of-comfort and then into biting wind. Before long real warmth stole over him.
The blob resting on his forehead began to hum. Even through his sleep drenched brain he recognised it. It was a silly song that his parents had liked and turned into a lullaby, just like every parent does. Whenever this one came onto the radio Danny was jolted back to when he was a kid and soothed into a warm bed on a close and sleepy evening. When he was a kid he’d practically vibrated with too much energy. When he couldn’t sleep Maddie would hold him wrapped in a blanket in her lap, singing that song and rocking back and forth, sometimes flubbing and making up her own words.
They needed the lullaby a lot when he was a kid. Some nights it was the only way to keep him in bed. It was a song for a too long road trip when he’d sent the entire car into seismic shifts from his carseat while the windshield wipers worked madly and Jazz was yelling at him for kicking her seat. The song was for a hospital visit where the cold room and unfamiliar walls was more disturbing than the pain in his broken arm. In the past it had never failed to lull him to sleep.
Somehow he hadn’t heard it in a long time. He didn’t miss it, it was just one of those things you naturally left behind as time passed. He wasn’t a baby anymore and Maddie didn’t need to sing it to get him to shut up for five seconds. He didn’t even remember the funny words she’d made up for it. His eyes drifted closed as he tried to mumble them and somehow dredge them up from deep in his mind. He’d almost completely forgotten it. He wondered where this blob had picked it up.
All the wondering he could do ran away from him quickly. His consciousness spun out like a ball of yarn leading him to sleep. The tune dropped him back into those years of falling asleep with his mom’s cheek next to his and finally his brain stopped thinking and let him drift off into deep dreamless sleep.
***
Jack and Maddie came home in the stillness of the hour between night and morning. It had stopped raining but they were drenched and stuck all over with orange pineneedles and other forest detritus. They were tired and trudged heavily through the door, not wanting to wake anyone up. There were twigs and leaves in Jack’s hair and a spray of thorns caught in the weave of Maddie’s suit. She smiled working it free but there was no real mirth behind it. Just tiredness.
They’d found no ghost in their net. But they’d been so sure a ghost couldn’t escape it, and a hit from Maddie’s new gun, on top of a shock from the Fenton Taser™ without being seriously damaged and power drained. So they’d combed the area again. They’d found not a sign of the ghost. They supposed that they’d never know until the next dogfight if that one had survived or had dissolved into whatever aether the scraps of human consciousness were bound for.
They dumped their tangled and scraped up gear in a pile. Neither of them said anything. Without a word they left it there and took the stairs. Jack looked at the back of his wife’s neck. He might not be good at reading people but he’d known her long enough. All these ghosts were fascinating, they’d never had more work. But the rest of Amity didn’t exactly agree with their glee. Some nights the sheer amount of ghostly activity was overwhelming. And they were strong enough to be actually capable of real property damage! Who knew what else. The sooner they could stuff these spooks back where they came from the better. But this wasn’t what was bothering Maddy. Jack knew the problem that was puzzling her now was Danny. It was frustrating. Life would be so much easier if people could just say what they were thinking.
If only he could figure out the problem.
Again, without words, they stopped in front of Danny’s door. Dread was boiling in Maddie’s stomach, there’d been so many nights she’d known he’d snuck out. Some nights he just never came home. Jack’s large arm reached past her to press against the door. He eased it open with both hands, For once he payed special attention to not bump anything thoughtlessly. Danny’s room was dark, the only light inside came from the warm stripes that escaped from the hallway lamp around their legs and the dim stick on stars that littered the ceiling. It was messy, as usual. Leaves of homework were layered over his desk and books lay open all over the floor. Drifts of clothes made sedimentary layers in the corners of the room. Jack couldn’t help his well of fondness at the sight. Danny was a still form on the bed. Silent asleep, as he should be.
Jack sniffed, was the ectoplasm smell stronger here? He glanced around briefly; bed, desk, floor— then shrugged. It was everywhere in the house. It was their fault really, always mixing work and family life.
Jack looked down and realized neither of them had pushed one toe over the carpet line into his room. It was just as good as a wall.
Maddie’s mouth worked as though she was chewing over a mouthful of words that needed to be said, no matter how silently. She finally whispered. “Good night, Danny.”
And then they left as carefully as they had come.

Dpx DC prompt ? Ficlit? Idono
Phantom has a very odd relationship with batman and seems to have a hyperfixation on a few things
Wally (flash) noticed how phantom when ever he got heated he would look at his reflection and seem almost melancholy or worried
Hal had found Danny (always Danny his name is nothing else) washing his hair his eyes so focused on his hair that he didn't even see hal in the League bathroom and when hal calls his name he jumps as his hair turned to flame for a split second
The way Danny holds himself always confused captain marvel he was easily seven foot tall and buffer then superman himself yet he always made himself look smaller he made his skin more human(less bule less like ...) His voice hier pitched like a teens he felt like the opposite of billy
apparently batman also noticed these oddities and pulls him aside and then at the next meeting phantom is more relaxed he gives flower to batman and then a odd Lazarus green rock then schematics echtime with a thankful smile on his fanged bule skinned flaming haired on his face
And then tower of babel happened
And Danny doesn't survive or at least half of him doesn't
Foot note:
This is an au ware Danny looks like Dan after growing up joins the JLA and finds comfort in batman knowing how to deal with him Incase he ever became like Dan and then it blows up in his face cuz fenton luck be like that and is targeted like the rest of the teem by ra's al ghul but with batman having all this info on Danny phantom and it falling in to ra's al ghul's hands he has everything needed to stop Danny and Danny is ether dead half dead or presumed dead by the justice league I prefer it to be ambiguous
I like the idea that danny got souped by ra's al ghul
and like batman eventually finds it BUT it has been shut so hard that bats can't open the pickle jar that Danny is in and eventually has to seek out wonder woman or superman to open the soup prison but he did not tell them Danny is in there so they say no because they are rightfully mad at him and now and as batman dose he just doesn't properly communicate and once he finally gets someone to un pickle Danny infront of the League it's just
Jl:WHY DID YOU NOT TELL US THAT DANNY WAS IN THERE OR ALIVE
Batman: I said it was important
And then Danny is just there either not knowing what happened or having heard all of this and being disappointed by the JLA's communication skills or lake there of
Plz I need others to add to this idea it free real estate do what ever you want to it but plz do something

Yet another Twin au because why not!?!?
So in usual fics and stuff where Dami and Danny are twins it always starts with how they are separated(usually by mission failure or they are pinned against each other in a fight to the death and so on)
Here—similar to other’s— Danny and Damian fight. Danny dies and Talia revives him in the Pit and leaves him with the Fenton’s with no memory of who he was.
When he becomes a halfa he remembers his life before and sets out to rescue his brother form the league because even if Dami killed him he can’t let his brother stay in such an awful place while he is having a good life half-life.
So he goes to the league (invisibility of course) and finds that Damien ISNT EVEN THERE!
He searches, and searches until he finds him in Gotham with their bio-father living a normal life, more or less…. “Holy shit my bio-dad is batman!?!”
Danny decides that Damien would be better off without him (basically he chickened out)
He goes home and is talking about this to is friends and sister and one of his ghost frienamies over hears and tells Danny he should go be with his brother like “dude he’s gonna be real pissed when he dies and finds out you were alive this whole time!” (Probably Ember). Danny tells whoever it is to basically fuck off. (Thinking that they only want Danny gone so they could fuck around with out them finding out)
Said ghost doesn’t take it well, and in a spur of the moment decision goes and tells the other ghosts and they devise a plan to go to Gotham and cause chaos until Phantom stops being a baby and goes to see his brother.
So a team of Johnny(and shadow), Kitty, Ember, and Skulker basically go on a double date to cause mischief and the box ghost and the lunch lady on the opposite side of town (also on a date because i say so) and the bat fam are freaking out because wtf are all these meta’s doing here? And they are getting their asses handed to them before Phantom shows up to take his ghosts back to the ghost zone.
But as soon as Damien see’s phantom there is like a record scratch moment and now Damien is ignoring the ghosts and just chasing Phantom with no explanation. All the ghosts stop just to watch and are giggling and laughing which confused the bat fam cuz they were fighting just a second ago.
Kitty says something about a family reunion causing Bruce to stomp up next to the ghosts and say a simple command of “explain!”
Johnny turns to him, “jeez Pops, cant you see the resemblance?”
Ember looks to him, “we dont know the whole story but BabyPop over there was killed and found out his brother was alive and fighting crime, we just decided to give him a little push in the right direction so the can reconnect!”
Johnny, who got tired of watching Damien chase Danny sicks Shadow on Danny and catches him.
Danny is struggling but when he looks up he see’s his twin brother who had killed him, crying (a rare sight to anyone) and just hugs him as he blabbers apologize for doing what grandfather had made them do.

My Masterlist! ~ AO3 Link!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Good morning Papa." You greet Primo with a smile, carefully setting down the cup of tea you had brought him on his work bench.
"Good morning il mio Bambino." He responds softly, completely engrossed in his task of pruning one of his many bonsai trees. "When you get a moment my dear would you be able to do me a small favor?" You breathed out an amused sigh. You had been Primo's assistant for a while, enjoying the slow pace of working with the eldest Emeritus brother.
"Papa, you don't need to ask." You giggle, bringing a smile to the older man's face. "Anything you need I'll take care of, don't worry."
"You truly are too good to me." He shoots you a wink causing you to playfully roll your eyes. "There's some produce that needs harvesting in the greenhouse. I was hoping I could have your assistance collecting it all."
"Of course. Let me just make sure I don't have any paperwork to file first." You give his shoulder a gentle squeeze as you pass, leaving him to finish his pruning. You fell into the chair at your desk with a sigh, flipping your letter opener around in your hand to sort through the daily mail. You paused as something caught your eye. A single sunflower sat at the edge of your desk. You picked it up curiously, a smile finding its way to your lips as you spun the stem between your fingers. "Thank you for the flower Papa!" You call into his office. You hear the scraping of his chair against the wooden floor, Primo emerging in the doorway moments later.
You glance over your shoulder as you hear him chuckle. "That flower isn't from me, my dear." He raised an eyebrow at you. "Perhaps you've caught the attention of someone special, hm?" You couldn't stop the blush from spreading across your cheeks as you giggled.
"I doubt that," you state with a wistful tone as you continue to admire the flower in your hand, "I'm pretty plain compared to a lot of the other Siblings. This was probably supposed to be a gift for you if anything."
"I'd like you to keep it regardless." He gently pats the top of your head. "And you are not plain. You have a smile that could light up any room, a laugh so melodic it would rival Cirrus' piano. You're a kind, beautiful soul inside and out. Not to mention your Papa's favorite." He teases with a wink.
"Thank you Papa." He holds out his arm for you to take.
"Come il mio bambino, we have a lot of work to do." You slide your hand into the crook of his elbow, allowing him to prattle on about whatever came to his mind as you made your way to the greenhouse together. No matter the task, working with Primo always managed to put a smile on your face. Over your time as his assistant you had grown quite close to him, Primo had become somewhat of a father figure in your life. The two of you would sit and chat about everything while you worked; filling each other in on the gossip you heard around the Abbey, Primo telling you stories of when he was in his prime, both of you unwinding with a nice cup of tea at the end of the day in his cozy office. Today was no different. You were both droning on about how, somehow, Sister Imperator had been even more stern than usual lately.
"Maybe you should offer her a joint, it might help her stop being so uptight all the time." Primo chuckles at your statement.
"You might be right, I heard she used to be quite the stoner in her day." You both paused at the sound of the greenhouse door slowly creaking open. Primo began to stand, you motioned for him not to trouble himself.
"I'll go see who it is Papa, it's probably just one of the Siblings from the kitchen." You rise with a groan, meticulously pulling off your work gloves before stuffing them into your pocket. As you approached the entrance you were met with the sight of a Ghoul curiously looking over the plants. He froze the moment he picked up on your presence, like a child getting caught doing something they weren't supposed to be. His shoulders relaxed as he realized it was you who emerged from the greenery and not the eldest Emeritus. "Phantom?"
"Hey." He returns your greeting with a sharp smile, fangs glinting in the bright afternoon sun that glimmered through the glass roof. "I was sent to ask Primo about some of his tea." He nervously shifts his weight between his feet.
"Oh, he's right back here actually." You motioned for him to follow you. Phantom takes a couple long strides, allowing himself to walk by your side. "You help in the greenhouse too?" He asks genuinely. You nod, giving him a small smile.
"I work pretty much wherever Primo needs me." You chuckle softly. "If I'm being honest I'd rather be out here than at my desk, it gets awfully stuffy in there sometimes." You whisper to him, as if it was a secret just for the two of you. You found Primo still diligently harvesting the produce you had left him with. "Papa, Phantom needs to ask you about some tea."
"Papa," Phantom bows his head slightly in a polite greeting, "Copia sent me. He's having, uh… that problem again. He said you'd know what I meant." His eyes widened slightly as he waited for Primo to remember what particular ailment he was referring to.
"Right," Primo claps his hands together. "I'll go grab the senna." Once Primo is out of view Phantom's attention immediately shifts back to you.
"What are you two harvesting?" You smile at his curiosity, aside from Primo and the other Siblings that helped in the gardens no one ever seemed interested about the work you did in here.
"Berries mostly." He trails closely behind you as you return to the plant you had been previously seated in front of. "The raspberries came out wonderful this year, I don't think we've ever had this big of a crop." Phantom kneels next to you in the dirt, eyes darting between your hands as they worked and your face.
"Can I ask a silly question?" He inquires sheepishly.
"There are no silly questions." You give him a reassuring smile, gently bumping your shoulder against his.
"What do raspberries taste like?" You paused. You had gotten so used to seeing Phantom dart around the Abbey that you had forgotten he had only been summoned a little while ago. Something as simple and well enjoyed by you he had never experienced before.
"Would you like to try one?" He nods eagerly. You search through the bush, looking for the best looking berry you could find. You carefully held it between your fingers as you offered it to him. "Now, I'm going to warn you, they have seeds and they're kind of fuzzy." He squints at the fruit, bright violet eyes analyzing it closely. He takes the berry between his teeth, taking extra care to make sure his fangs didn't accidentally graze your fingers. He chewed it slowly, eyes never leaving your face.
"It's good… sweet." He smiles proudly at his small triumph. His gaze travels to the top of your head. "You, uh, have a leaf." He points to your hair. You attempt to brush it away on your own but you could tell by the expression he was giving you that it was still there. He cautiously reaches towards you, untangling it from your strands before discarding it on the ground. His eyes scan over your features, a smile coming to his lips as he brushes the disturbed hair back into place. "Beautiful." You let out a flustered giggle. You both jump as Primo speaks up.
"This should take care of Copia's problem." He holds out a jar of herbs to Phantom. Seeing both of your bashful states he pauses. "I'm not interrupting anything am I?" He gives you a smug grin.
"No Papa, we were just talking." You nervously fidgeted with your fingers as you spoke.
"Thank you for the tea Papa. (Y/N), hopefully I'll see you soon." He flashes you another dazzling smile before making his leave. You couldn't stop your eyes from trailing after him as he left, turning back to Primo once he fully stepped out of sight. You had to stop yourself from rolling your eyes at the shit eating grin he wore
"Don't look at me like that." You tried to hide your flustered state.
"I see we fancy ourselves a Quintessence Ghoul, do we?" He returns to the plant at your side with a laugh.
"We were just talking Papa." You reiterate again to try and get your point across.
"Just talking wouldn't cause the two of you to jump like that my dear. I've witnessed my fair share of crushes in my day, it's nothing to be ashamed of." He addresses the matter casually.
"Papa!" You exclaim through a giggle.
"Fine, fine." He accepts defeat, holding up his hands in surrender. "But, when you do finally come to terms with the fact you're attracted to him, I'll be here to talk." He smiles patiently.
You laugh and shake your head, "I don't have a crush on Phantom, it's just…" you trailed off for a moment. You couldn't exactly put into words how you felt. You had always been pretty close with all of the Ghouls, so when the newest members were summoned you were one of the first to be introduced. When you had first met Phantom he was timid, still feeling somewhat awkward in his more humanoid form.
"Walk me through what you're thinking tesoro, maybe I can help you sort things out." You both kept busy as you talked, knowing if you actually allowed yourself to focus on the words spilling from your lips you would end up overthinking.
"He's very easy for me to talk to. It took me a while to form the friendships that I have, but with him it almost felt effortless. The first night I met him there was something about him that was just so… captivating. He was unlike any person or Ghoul I had ever met." You explain.
"You two definitely seemed to hit it off pretty quickly. Up until he met you I don't think I had ever really seen Phantom interact with any of the Siblings, he mostly kept to himself. Perhaps there are a few members of his pack he's close to, but compared to the rest of Copia's Ghouls he seems a bit reserved." Primo remarks.
"That's the thing Papa… he's not." You thought back to one of the times it had just been the two of you. "Phantom is loud, boisterous, confident." His infectious laugh echoed through your memories, bringing a smile to his face. It wasn't uncommon for Phantom to coincidentally stumble across you smoking alone in the garden, enjoying the twinkling starlight as the pungent smell of herb filled the air. Being with him only added to the dizzying head rush you had. Gazing into his eyes felt like you were running through a field of lavender, his fingers bumping against yours making your pulse thrum in your ears, entirely consumed by the image of him mere inches away from you. The two of you in your own world together as you resisted the urge to lean into him. You were snapped from your day dream as a thorn pricked your finger, you winced slightly, letting out an exasperated sigh as reality set in once more. "Him and I just get along really well, that's all." Primo just smiled knowingly. He had seen that far off look in your eyes many times before; pining Siblings stumbling into his confessional to pour their heart and soul out to him over a friend who they swore would never be anything more than just that. You didn't say much for the rest of the afternoon, the memory of Phantom playing repeatedly in your mind as you tried to convince yourself none of that mattered.
"I'll see you in the morning." Primo waves over his shoulder as the two of you part ways in the halls. You headed back to his office, having a few things to check on before fully retiring for the evening. You look behind you as you hear another set of footsteps join your own in the empty corridor. You were a bit surprised to see none other than the Ghoul occupying your every thought round the corner. You smile at the sight of him, pausing to let him catch up.
"Copia wanted me to bring Primo a thank you note for the tea." You found yourself shoving your hands deep in your pockets, the slight brush of his hand against yours sending a jolt through your body, causing you to have an urge you didn't dare give into.
"Primo decided to turn in a little early tonight…" you trail off, glancing at him out of the corner of your eye. "But, I am heading down to his office now. I wouldn't mind the company if you'd like to walk with me."
"I would love to." He smiles down at you. You blush, quickly darting your eyes down to your feet so hopefully he wouldn't catch your flustered expression. "You seem nervous." You remarked how that was a statement, not a question. You flashed him your most convincing smile, trying to shove your anxiety away so he wouldn't worry.
"It's just been a long day. I'm not really feeling fully… myself, I guess." You found yourself wanting to be honest with him the more you spoke. There was something about being with him that made you feel so undeniably safe that you couldn't lie about how you were feeling. The question flashed through your mind about whether or not Quintessence Ghouls possessed some type of mind control power to make you tell the truth. You noticed him glance over at you out of the corner of your eye. "I promise it's nothing to worry about." You slid into your chair as you arrived at Primo's office, Phantom perching himself on the edge of the desk at your side.
"Have you eaten?" He suddenly chimes. Your stomach decided to answer before you had a chance to, giving off a low angry growl over your hunger. "I'll take that as a no." Phantom chuckles. You return his laugh as you open some of the new letters that had appeared on your desk. You groaned as you recognized Sister Imperator's neat script.
"What now?" Phantom's brow furrowed at your distress. "Great, another meeting with Nihil, Papa's going to be thrilled." You drop your head into your desk with a groan. You felt Phantom's warm head slide across your back, rubbing soothing circles in between your shoulder blades. You reluctantly picked up the receiver of the old rotary phone, dialing the number for Primo's quarters as you propped your chin up in your hand. "Hi Papa." He sighed at the tone you greeted him with, already knowing what was in store for him. "We have a meeting with your Father." You held the receiver away from your ear as a loud string of Italian curses exploded out of it. "I'll be there in ten minutes." You inform him before hanging up. "I'm sorry to run off-"
"It's alright." He cuts you off, grimacing slightly as he realized he had done so. "Are you going to be in the garden tonight?"
You nodded slowly, "probably. I'm sure I'm going to need to unwind after this." You stand with a groan. You collect your belongings, smiling at Phantom as you turn to leave. In a moment of boldness, more than likely brought in by the aggravation of having to deal with Sister, you paused. "These meetings usually take about two hours. I'd really like to see you tonight if you have time."
"I'll be there." He responds eagerly. You try your best to hide your excited smile as you hurry off to meet Primo. The second you entered his quarters he noticed your change in attitude.
"Well, what do we have here? You seem awfully happy my dear." You met Primo's gaze in his reflection. His papal paint half done, still dressed in his gardening clothes. "Might I venture a guess this has something to do with a certain Ghoul?" You knew there was no lying to him in your current state.
"I may or may not be seeing Phantom after our meeting tonight." You spit out your statement hurriedly, knowing he was going to make a big deal about it.
"Hm," he hums, grinning at you, "sounds like a nice little date to unwind after a stressful day, no?" You haphazardly comb your fingers through your hair, trying your best to appear somewhat decent.
"It's not a date Papa, just two friends meeting up." He chuckles at your response.
"Tell me tomorrow if your feelings on that subject have changed." You breathe out a laugh, shaking your head in disbelief for how sure he was of himself. You helped him shrug into his Papal robes before heading to the never ending meeting. Every second felt like an hour, your eyes practically glued to the clock as you waited for the meeting to come to a close.
"You are dismissed." The second Nihil groaned out the words you bolted for the door, not missing Primo's amused expression on your way out. You headed straight for the garden, expertly winding your way to the spot where you and Phantom always managed to run into each other. A smile instantly spread across your features at the sight of him. He had set out a blanket in the pathway, a small spread of various foods set out for the two of you.
"What's all this?" You ask with a soft laugh as you approach him.
His eyes darted to the ground nervously, you noticed him swaying on his heels slightly as he spoke. "Well, I know you haven't eaten so I wanted to bring you some food. I didn't know what you liked so I asked Mountain and well…" He trails off, motioning to the spontaneous picnic. "I was thinking maybe you and I could have some dinner together?"
"I would love to have dinner with you, Phantom." He beams at your response, excitement immediately overtaking his nerves as he motions for you to sit. You sat and talked with Phantom for hours, your body and mind feeling lighter the longer you spent with him. As time passed the two of you eventually cleared off the blanket, opting to lay side by side to gaze up at the stars, a lit joint passed between the two of you. You watched the smoke curl high into the air, the warmth of Phantom's body seeking into your shoulder.
"I really like spending time with you." He speaks up suddenly. You blush at his statement, feeling his fingers ghost over yours both of your hands intertwined carefully. You didn't need to respond, he knew you felt the same way. The two of you took turns pointing out different constellations you recognized until, eventually, you decided you should probably get back to your dorm. Phantom's fingers remained intertwined with yours as he stood, hoisting you from the ground after him. You stumble slightly, falling into his chest. You felt the quick, steady rhythm of his heartbeat under his palm. His free hand lands on your waist to steady you. Your eyes snapped up to his, they glowed a beautiful violet in the moonlight.
"Sorry." You giggle nervously. He chuckles, giving your waist a gentle squeeze.
"No need to apologize, are you alright?" You nod, both of you blushing and mumbling out an apology as you realized you were still holding onto each other, taking a moment to separate. The two of you walked in a comfortable silence through the halls until you reached your dorm. You stood across from each other in front of your door, nervously swaying in your heels. "That was fun, maybe we can do that again sometime."
"I'd like that." Both of you searched for something, anything at all to say, to stay with each other just a few moments longer. But nothing came to mind. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Goodnight, (Y/N)." He smiles at you, beginning to turn away. You reach out, catching his wrist in your hand. He looks back at you, a hopeful expression in his eyes. You stand on your toes, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek.
"Goodnight, Phantom." You take one final glance at him before you slip into your room. You fell into your bed with a sigh, dragging your hands down your face. "He's so handsome." You groan to your empty room. You let your arms fall out to the side, staring blankly up at your system as you remembered Primo's words from earlier. "I've witnessed my fair share of crushes in my day, it's nothing to be ashamed of my dear." You grimaced, that old man really could read you like an open book. You got ready for bed, dreading talking Primo tomorrow that he was right. But you needed advice. You had never taken the whole romance thing into consideration. Sure, you had dated a few people in the past, but none of those relationships really went past the honeymoon phase or initial hookup. You could already tell that if by some miracle Phantom did reciprocate your feelings this wouldn't be a simple fling. You woke with a start, getting into your overalls as you prepared for a long day weeding the flowerbeds. As you entered the garden you found Primo already waiting for me, a cup of tea waiting for you on the bench next to him.
"Good morning il mio bambino." He greets you with a smile. "These were left on your desk this morning." He picked up three white roses, all tied together with a purple ribbon.
"Was there any note?" He shook his head. You held the flowers to your nose, inhaling their sweet scent with a smile. "I'm going to put these in some water." You quickly run to the greenhouse, placing the blooms in a vase so you could take them home later before returning to Primo. You picked up the tea cup he had set out for you, sitting by his side and enjoying the stillness of the early morning air.
"So, how did last night go?" He prods.
You sigh, "it was perfect, I don't know what else to say about it." You chuckle.
"Are you still trying to keep up the façade that you're just friends?" He asks before taking a long sip of his tea.
"As much as I would like to, I don't think I can." You admit with a bashful laugh. "I've definitely got a bit of a crush on him." You spent a good portion of your morning catching Primo up on the events of the night prior.
He looks at you with an amused smile, "dare I say I think he might be feeling the same towards you my dear." He grins.
"I hope so, I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to hide this from him." Primo collects your cup from you as you finish your drink.
"Well you'll have plenty of time to think things over tesoro. Enjoy the flirting, romance is supposed to be fun, you should be basking in the glow of young love." You blush, shaking your head as you playfully roll your eyes.
"I'm going to get started out here, I'll come check on you in a couple hours." He pays your head before heading to his office.
"Don't work too hard." He calls over his shoulder as he disappears from the garden, allowing you to get to work.
"Well what do we have here." You jump slightly as Mountain bounds up beside you, a basket of vegetables perched on his hip.
"Hey Mount." Your hand claps into his as he helps you out of the dirt.
"Primo's got you on weeding duty today?" He asks, a bit confused. Weeding was usually a job saved for new Siblings, Primo believing in a hierarchy of sorts until they got settled in.
"I needed a task that would let me reflect on my feelings." You preach back to him in your best Papa impression. "He's had some suspicions that are proving to be correct."
"Everything alright?" He motions for you to walk with him.
"Yeah." You trail off for a moment. "If I tell you something, can you promise it'll stay between us?"
"Of course, you know you can always talk to me." He nudges you.
"So, there's been someone leaving flowers on my desk the past couple days. Which is super sweet, but I need to find out who it is. Recently I've… come to terms with the fact I have feelings for someone." You chose your words carefully, hesitant to give away who the object of your affection was despite the fact you knew you would end up telling him regardless. "Then on top of that I don't want to say anything to this other person because they might not feel the same."
"First off, I wouldn't worry about confessing your feelings. You're amazing, whoever it is would be so lucky to have earned your affection. Regardless of the answer I'm sure everything will work out for the best. And if you want to know who's getting you flowers, maybe hideout in the greenhouse, they're bound to show up sooner or later." You nodded, that wasn't a terrible plan. "Now, the real question is, who's your secret crush?" He asks in a teasing tone.
"Promise you won't say anything?" You felt ridiculous, you felt like you were in high school all over again. You were a grown adult acting like a teenage girl. Yet you couldn't help the butterflies that erupted in your stomach at the mere thought of him.
"You have my word." Mountain promises.
"It's Phantom." He pauses, looking down at you with the biggest smile. "What?"
"You have to tell him, the two of you would be such a great couple!" You attempt to stutter out a response, Mountain's bluntness getting you completely fluttered. "Seriously though, I think it would be worth a shot telling him. You never know, maybe he could've been your secret admirer the whole time." He chuckles before the two of you parted ways. You headed to Primo's office, already having gotten a good deal of weeding done today. You pushed through his office door with a groan.
"Good afternoon my dear." He greets you jovially despite not looking up from his paperwork. A pair of thin, wire framed reading glasses sat perched on the end of his nose.
"Afternoon Papa, do you need me to take care of anything?" You refill his glass of water in his desk.
"Actually there is, I have a stack of hymns that need to be returned to the music hall. It took me a while to decide which ones I wanted for mass this week." He chortles. You accepted the stack from him with a smile. "When you return we'll have so tea, I believe you're due for a break."
"Of course Papa, I'll be right back." You read through the stack of sheet music as you walk through the halls, humming the melodies presented before you. You kicked open the door to the music hall with your foot. Your ears were instantly met with an all too familiar tune. You glanced up to find Phantom perched at the edge of the stage, his usual black guitar resting comfortably over his thigh as he rehearsed by himself. You sit yourself in one of the chairs in the room, watching as his fingers effortlessly moved across the fret board. He jumped slightly when he noticed you were there.
"Now how did I end up with such a pretty audience." He flashes his fangs at you as a wide grin spreads across his features.
"No matter how many times I see you play you always amaze me. You're so talented." You compliment him, earning a bashful chuckle that made your heart flutter in your chest.
"Thank you." He stands, slowly striding over to you. "Now what brings you all the way down here." You held up the stack of papers.
"Primo needs these returned." Phantom takes the stack from you, knowing howuch of a pain organizing hymns tended to be.
"Want some help? I'm pretty familiar with how Cumulus has it set up in here." He offers.
"That would be great, I'd be here all night doing this by myself." You joke. Phantom clicks on the radio, some oldies station buzzing to life. He slings an arm over your shoulder, guiding you to the filing cabinet where the hymns were stored. Phantom seemed much more relaxed than normal today. He was consistently making jokes, the two of you idly chatting as you sorted everything away. "I love this song!" You exclaim, turning up the volume of the radio. You swayed around the room, humming along with the tune. Phantom chuckles at your excitement. He sets his remaining sheet music down, stepping closer to you so he could pull you towards him. You laugh, letting your fingers intertwine with his as the other slides over his shoulder. The two of you swayed along with the rhythm, Phantom giving your waist a gentle squeeze as he smiles down at you. He spun you around, causing you to giggle. "I didn't know you could dance."
"I wanted to learn to impress someone I like." He winks at you, both of you letting out bashful laughter.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I need you for band practice." Sodo leans against the doorframe, eyes darting between the two of you. Phantom reluctantly released his hold on you, holding your hand a few moments longer than necessary before joining the other Ghoul.
"I'll see you soon." He promises.
"Bye Phantom." You smile at him, waving to Sodo as they both leave. You finish filing away the hymns, clicking off the radio before heading back to Primo's office. The rest of the day passed in a blur, the feeling of Phantom holding you close clouding your every thought. You had decided to take Mountain's advice of waiting in the greenhouse, wanting to tell your secret admirer that you already had your eye on someone else. So, once you had said goodnight to Primo, you slipped out into the gardens in hope of capturing the mysterious florist in the act. You hid in a relatively secluded corner, tucked away behind some lush bushes where you couldn't be seen. Luckily you didn't have to wait long for them to show up. You heard their soft humming approach where you were. The soft snips of pruning shears as they collected their flowers. Your eyebrows knitted together as you realized that this was a voice you recognized. You peeked out from your hiding place. You smiled softly at the sight before you, stepping out into the open, you cleared your throat.
Phantom's eyes shot up to you, he froze as he realized he had been caught. He looks nervously between you and the flowers he held in his hand. His mouth fell open but no words came out at first. When, finally, through all his nerves he actually takes a moment to look at you. Your whole face lit up with a smile, eyes searching his face as you waited for him to say anything. He couldn't believe how cute you looked as you nervously wrung your hands. He stands, offering a small bouquet of red chrysanthemums. "I'm assuming you've been getting my flowers." He chuckles. You carefully take hold of the bunch, gazing it down in awe before placing them off to the side. Your body moved purely on instinct, arms sliding around Phantom's waist as you pulled him into a hug. He tenses up for a moment before wrapping you tightly in his embrace.
"They've all been beautiful." You mumble against his chest. You slowly separated from each other, his gaze catching yours. He smiles warmly at you, those gorgeous, glowing purple eyes causing you to melt.
He gently takes your chin between his fingers. "I feel… strange whenever I'm around you." He admits, a mischievous glint in his eye.
"Strange how?" You ask through a smile, laughing as he tugs you closer.
"Sweaty mostly." He jokes. "You make me nervous in a good way." He continues to ponder out loud. "My heart starts to beat really fast, and all I can think about is reaching out to hold you… what kissing you would be like." You blush at his admission.
"You're more than welcome to find out for yourself." Your voice shook as you spoke, a soft breathy laugh punctuating your statement. His thumb ran over your bottom lip, his eyes tracing over every detail of your face.
"I'm sorry if I'm not any good at this." He chuckles.
"Just follow my lead." You tease, your hands sliding up his chest and into his hair as he closes the distance between the two of you. His lips crashed into yours. A satisfied hum left your lips as you pushed your body into his. He held you tightly, as if he let you go you would disappear before his eyes. The kiss started out slow, you slowly guided him through the motions. You had found out that Phantom was a very quick learner. His pace gradually increased, the kiss growing more passionate by the second as he grew addicted to the feeling of your lips on his. You pulled back with a gasp, both of you panting softly. You didn't even have time to catch your breath before Phantom's lips were back on yours, earning a surprised squeak as he pulled you flush against him one more. He pulled back slightly, his breathing ragged.
"That was nice." He chuckles. He places another few short pecks to your lips causing you to laugh softly.
"Does this mean you won't be bringing me flowers anymore?" You laugh.
"Sweetheart, I'll bring you flowers everyday if you want me to." He says with a smile as he pulls you in for another passionate kiss.
CHARACTERS: Vil Schoenheit x Reader
TAGS: Fluff; GN Reader; Declaration
WORD COUNT: 1.155 words
Riddle Rosehearts / Leona Kingscholar / Azul Ashengrotto / Jamil Viper / Vil Schoenheit / Idia Shroud / Malleus Draconia
Rescuing You - Deuce Spade; Jack Howl; Floyd Leech; Kalim Al-Asim
COMMENTS: What have I done? Why did I commit to writing this? And why did I write so much? Why was I so inspired? There were seven of them! Why do I do this to myself? So yeah, this took me a long time. But I hope it was worth it, for me and for you.
Tumblr media
CONTEXT: Someone was kidnapped to marry some ghost princess and might end up turning into a ghost too. And he just found out that someone was you.
Tumblr media
Vil wondered who in the entire school would be chosen as the princess's partner instead of someone like him. With someone like him at school, who the heck did they kidnap if they were looking for the perfect person for the princess?
And then he hears your name, and his eyes widen. On the one hand, he now understands. After all, if he himself fell in love with you, who wouldn't? But on the other hand, his pride was still a little hurt. But more importantly, he needed to save you!
When rescue groups are formed, he asks to be in the last one. He knows he will be the best choice for this operation because he is an actor, but to create the perfect “romantic interest”, after all, your life was at risk, he first needed to understand what the princess's “character” was like.
When it's the last group's turn, whenever someone needs to stay behind to tie up the ghosts, Vil tells one of the others to do it. He always displays such confidence and leadership that the others simply followed his orders and stayed behind. One of the boys in the group was Rook, so it was clear that he would follow Vil's orders. Vil ends up being the only one to arrive at the ceremony hall.
Following the plan and after studying the princess's "character", Vil gets into character even before opening the door. He opens the door with a bang and orders them to stop the wedding. And in the first few sentences you already got an uncanny shiver.
“STOP THE WEDDING! Princess! I cannot bear this! My heart cannot bear to see you marrying someone else. Please, my wonderful princess, I beg you to at least give me a chance to prove myself to be a good partner to you!” And he was even being so dramatic talking.
But you couldn't deny that he was an excellent actor. Anyone who doesn't know him, the princess for example, would never realize he was acting. But you knew him, and so you had to try hard not to laugh at how strange that was. He was acting so well it looked like he was possessed. And worse, he was playing... ROOK?
You were controlling yourself not to laugh, but some of the students petrified by the princess's slap weren't. And they burst into laughter, especially Leona and Floyd. “Pay these poor rejects no attention, my sweet princess.” Vil continued “They are merely jealous of whoever is worthy of standing next to you at the altar.” He was even imitating some of Rook's gestures, which only made the others laugh even more.
Vil did everything the princess asked of him. He sang with her, answered her questions with the answers he thought she wanted to hear and which from her reaction seemed right. But it seemed like she was never satisfied. Why did it never end? What was going wrong? And it was then that she said that Vil would definitely be a wonderful prince, but she had already chosen you.
“WHAT?! You can not be serious.” Now, the Vil you knew was back, and he was pissed. “I do all this, I answer all these nonsense questions, I try to act in a way that pleases you and it's all for nothing?!” Even the princess was scared by his change in behaviour. And the guards placed themselves in defensive positions. The princess asks what happened to him, what was going on?
“I tell you what is going on. I'm here doing my best to convince a delusional princess to accept me as her husband so I can save the real person I care about and yet I'm rejected after having so much patience with a spoiled girl.” The princess is horrified to know that it was all just an act, she had really believed it, she even starts to cry. And of course, the guards threaten Vil. “Cry all you want, it doesn't bother me, I came here to save (Y/N) and that's what I'm going to do. One way or another.”
And then, a fight between the ghosts and Vil begins. Which he could have almost won if it weren't for that guard who turned into a giant ghost. He suggested that the princess give Vil the slap to petrify him, but she did nothing for a moment. Afterwards, she said that what Vil did was the most evil thing anyone had ever done to her. Playing with someone's feelings like that.
“I know it's one of the ugliest things I've ever done. But I wasn't just playing. I was trying to save the person you kidnapped.” She asks if he can act so well, how would you know if what he says he feels for you is real? He looks at you, confidently, with a loving look and his soft smile. “They know.” He may be an excellent actor, but you know he’s not a liar.
And, out of nowhere, the princess started to feel sorry for herself and jealous of you. She also wanted someone to do all that for her. Pretending to be someone else just to save you, even if it meant being away from you forever. (In the Vils head he was like: Actually I was going to put a ring on your finger to send you alone to the afterlife, but of course, think whatever you want.) And this was the opportunity that the guard who was in love with her found to declare himself. He said he wasn't that good of an actor, but that if he had to, he would do his best. And that whole ending of the princess realizing that she loved him too happens, they get married and happily ever after.
After everything and while the first-years were getting ready to tidy up and clean the cafeteria, you asked Vil to wait a bit. You leave the room so you can talk alone. He looks at you from top to bottom and started fixing your clothes and hair.
“One thing I must admit, those ghosts had some fashion sense.” When he finishes he takes a step back and looks at you. He smiles. “You sure are beautiful.” You throw yourself at him to hug him. “*Sigh* I just fixed your clothes.” but he still hugged you back. “I should teach you some self-defence techniques. It seems like you are becoming too with my help.” Just in case, you ask him if he is really flirting with you at that moment. “Firstly, you don't seem too bothered by it so I assume I'm allowed to do it. And secondly, I'm not Rook. Do you really think I would praise anyone else like this, sweet potato?”
Vil highly values his face. For this reason, you are probably the only person he would let kiss him, both on the cheeks and lips.
May we get some angst of Dew then being comforted by the other ghouls, maybe a ghoul cuddle pile?
Oh yes. Because Dew has been feeling a whole lot of angst on this tour! Read below the cut. Thanks for the prompt anon 💖
It happened at the first ritual. And then it happened again. And again. And again. The wireless transmitter failed, the sound cut out completely, his pedal board decided it just wasn’t going to work. And then it decided that a few more times.
Dew would stomp in agitation, flip off his equipment, beckon the techs with impatient gestures. Aside from the actual malfunction, the crowd thought that Dew’s reaction was all part of the spectacle. And maybe it was, at first.
But when the number of rituals were moving into the double digits, his rage became very real. It was the first thing he felt when everything went wrong. And when he blamed himself for it.
Some of it had absolutely nothing to do with him. The cannons firing early, the lights shutting off, the curtain getting stuck as the crew tried to yank it from where it had attached itself to a rafter. It nonetheless added to his unease. The feeling that everything was about to go wrong.
Tonight seemed better. So far so good. Until he planted his boot on the pedal board and all of the sound coming from his guitar cut out. He frantically stepped on different pedals, but heard nothing coming from his monitor.
This had been maybe the 4th time this specific issue had happened. With the spotlights shining on him, because he should’ve been playing a solo, he was instead standing there motioning for techs that weren’t there.
Blinded by rage at this point, he stomped, and not in a Im so human and weak way. In a I am forged from fire and demon blood way, and managed to crush the metal frame of the phaser pedal under the heel of his boot, cracking the also metal frame of the board right in half.
Thank Satan for the new masks. No one could see his eyes. His tears soaked into the fabric of the balaclava covering his mouth. He wasn’t sad. He was angry. And when he got angry enough, he cried. And it made him feel like a kit having a temper tantrum.
Dew would say he just wanted to put on a good show, that he shouldn’t be making mistakes this late in the game, and that he too responsibility for all of his equipment. Even if he didn’t set it up.
Others would say Dew was a perfectionist. That the smallest mistake would send him spiraling. Sometimes for days. That he would mutter under his breath about it and beat himself up about it and run it over in his mind in an obsessive cycle trying to pinpoint the exact moment it all went wrong so that it would never happen again.
“We all make mistakes Dew.”
“We can’t control everything Dew.”
“Stop beating yourself up Dew.”
You’re making a big deal out of nothing Dew.”
“We get that you’re pissed but don’t take it out on us Dew.”
They didn’t understand how deeply affected he was, that each and every equipment failure, set up issue, or stroke of bad luck stick to the next, until it was a massive weight on his back that practically made him stoop when he walked.
When he walked off the stage that night, rather when he stormed off it, stalking off to the showers, taking his rage out on his own skin as he scrubbed himself raw. He didn’t bother drying his hair, no matter how tangled it would be later. He sat alone in a plastic chair at the rear of the venue in between the floodlights affixed to the wall.
When they were all finally ready to move, filtering out the back door in search of Dew they almost missed him in that patch of darkness until they noticed the Cherry of his cigarette glowing in the dark.
“Hey Dew, time to go.”
Swiss employed his softest, least obnoxious semi sing-song voice, however Dew still practically sneered at him as he fell in line.
He was the last to get on the bus. By then everyone felt the rage radiating off of him. Each trying to make individual decisions about how they’d deal with it. Unanimously, they all wanted to just leave him be. Until the boil lowered to a simmer. At these stage surely anything they said to him would just infuriate him further.
As Dew traversed the tall steps, his toe caught on the lip of very last step, his hands were full so there was nothing to prevent him from slamming his face into the wall that enclosed the drivers seat.
When his head stopped spinning he looked to see everyone had come to a halt, staring at him with what appeared to be a combination of concern and fear. He felt something warm dripping down his face, his olfactory organs immediately recognized it as blood, as did his eyes when he realized it was dripping on the light grey carpet.
No one could see the countdown that had been set, but they knew he was about to explode.
“Dew, can I help you? I’ll take your bags and” - Mountain extended his hand, slowly, as if Dew would bite his fingers off. And he might.
Dew dropped his duffle and back pack on the floor and wiped his nose on his sleeve, leaving a bloody smear across his face. He looked up at Mountain with a somewhat neutral expression that said time was almost up. They all froze, waiting to see if the bus was about to be engulfed in flames. Not this time, he sunk cross legged to the floor and let out one of the most wretched cries they’ve ever heard.
“Oh Dew, come here. Don’t sit on the dirty floor.” Mountain crouched in front of him, using his on sleeve to staunch the flow of blood dripping onto Dew ‘s lap.
“Can you walk, can you stand?”
Dew just shook his head. No yelling, no screaming, just tears and blood. Mountain scooped him up and brought him to the back of the bus, depositing them both on the couch.
“You wanna talk about it, firebug?”
Dew shook his head, he just kept his eyes downcast, rubbing at the blood that was drying down on his hand. Dew was beyond anger, completely defeated., absolutely done. They all knew it.
Swiss searched in vain for ice, remembering there was no freezer in the tiny tour bus fridge. The best he could do was a cold bottle of beer wrapped in a t-shirt.
Rain located the first aid kit affixed to the wall in the bathroom. An infection on top of everything else wasn’t what they needed. Especially since the cut on the bridge of his nose happened to lay exactly where his mask would hit.
Rain dabbed at the cut with a swab soaked in alcohol. The scent made Dew’s nose scrunch up, between that and the burn, and the embarrassment of it all, Rain was dabbing at tears as well as the slice on his skin.
Swiss handed over the bottle, knowing that Dew preferred the calming energy of Rain and Mount when he was broken down this far.
Instead he hung back with the new guy and texted Cirrus, on the other bus with the Cirrus and Aurora. They had nothing helpful to offer. No ice and no advice. So he sunk back on the sofa and waited for some cue that told him he could be useful in this situation. The quintessence ghoul knew he could help, but he’d rather wait until he was asked rather than be intrusive.
The bus lurched forward, making it onto the highway shortly thereafter. Dew hadn’t spoken a word yet. He occasionally squeaked at the shifting of the fabric across the cut as Rain held the cold bottle to his face.
“I broke my pedal.”
“Oh, Dew, it doesn’t matter. It’s all replaceable. Unlike you. You’re the one we need to be okay.” Dew dropped his shoulders, abandoning the rigid posture he’d maintained since they sat down, giving in to the comfort that Mountain’s wide shoulders and long arms offered.
Rain pulled the beer out of the shirt and offered it to Dew but he shook his head. “You want tea instead?” Dew looked back at Rain as if he felt guilty saying yes. Rain kissed his forehead and stood to go make him one.
“I don’t know why you’re all being so nice to me. It was my fault.”
“You know that’s not true.” A gentle chiding sometimes helped snap him out of his cycle of self blame. Emphasis on gentle. Mountain continued, his deep voice as soft as he could manage.
“Maybe you did break the board. But the rest wasn’t your fault at all. I know you want to take it upon yourself to make sure everything is perfect. But this is a giant machine with many moving parts. A lot of them operated by humans. And we’re just getting started. It’ll get better Firebug, I know it will.”
“Yeah, I guess.” Dew muttered, taking the scalding mug of tea that Rain held out to him. In fact, Rain had to carry it with a kitchen towel, but that’s how Dew liked it. Even if it was like drinking hot lava.
Rain sat behind Dew, gently working through the knots in his half-dry hair. “It happens to me too, I almost kicked a stage light right off the podium.”
“That’s not the same.”
“Okay, maybe not. But we’ve all had issues. C’s keyboard not making a sound when she walked out for her solo, standing there at center stage. The crowd staring at him her. Remember how upset she was?”
“Yeah, I remember. But still. She didn’t stomp on her keytar when it happened.”
Rain brushed his fingers against Dew’s scalp, watching his head lull backwards. “I know. Yes, you did that. Yes, your temper gets the best of you. But you have a lot at stake. We all know it. You’re just gonna have to forgive yourself.”
“No, I don’t and you can’t make me.”
Rain gave his hair a playful tug. “Oh? I think I can.”
Mountain saw the half smile hidden behind the now empty mug. He pried it out of Dew’s hands, handing it behind him to Swiss who he knew was probably dying inside from feeling useless.
Dew leaned back, yawning once, and then over and over. “Someone’s sleepy.” Mountain stood again with Dew in his arms. “Time for bed?”
“Don’t infantilize me. I’m a super scary fire demon and shit.”
“Yes, babygirl. But how can you burn as all to a crisp if you’re tired?”
Dew replied with a hiss. “Your bed.”
Mountain nodded. His was the biggest. He was thrilled when their manager told them they had enough funds to make small modifications to tour bus.
“And?”
“Yeah, all of you.” Dew grunted.
“I knew it you softy.” Swiss kissed his cheek before launching himself on the bed.
“I get the middle!” Dew called out.
“Of course. We already know that, Princess.” Rain slid across the wide mattress next to Swiss.
“Not a princess.” Dew muttered as he pressed himself up against Rain’s chest. Two ghouls left. Phantom stood there looking apprehensive.
“Go on, he won’t bite you, unless you ask.”
He crawled in, sculpting himself to the shape of Dew’s body while maintaining an inch wide gap between them. Dew reached behind and grabbed his arm to yank him closer. “That’s not how this works.”
“Yeah, okay.” He sounded slightly terrified which made Dew giggle. His reputation must’ve made it down to the pit. Even though it was mostly untrue.
Mountain crawled in next, pushing the quintessence ghoul’s body the rest of the way. He usually took the edge, because his large body was like a dam keeping the rest of them from spilling on to the floor in the night.
Dew always tried to hold it back, reputation to maintain and what not, but his purr always started up first and despite his size, it was definitely the loudest.
“Feeling better, princess?”
Dew slapped Swiss with his tail. “Not a princess.”
Probably the biggest lie Dew told about himself that night. He absolutely was and he knew it.
The next morning Cumulus skipped over to the bus to see how he was. “I’m okay. It doesn’t hurt unless I touch it.”
“Well, I thought it might. But I made this for you.”
It was a sort of headband looking thing. Only it was thinner. Aside from one piece that seemed to be 3 layers thick. Knitted from buttery soft black yarn.
“Thanks - uh - what is it?”
She slipped it over his head, letting the padded part rest on the bridge of his nose. “It’s so your helmet doesn’t dig into it.”
Dew’s eyes shone in the morning light, but Cumulus just gave him a peck on the cheek and walked away. She wouldn’t tell anyone that a little piece of knitting made him cry.
Cant Sleep
Mountain x fem!reader
t was in the middle of the night when I tried to sneak into Mountains Room. Sneaking wasn't something for me because I can be very clumsy. After thinking this I bumped into somethign, waking Mountain. He turned on his light, scaring me with this. I must look like a deer in headlights. "Y/N? What's wrong?" does he ask, I wasn't answering. I guess by thishe knew what was wrong. I couldn't sleep again. It happens quite often lately and I don't know why.
"Sorry for disturbing you I know you have practice tomorrow but...could I sleep here by your side?" My voice was quit. I hate to ask this, I don't want to be a burden to anyone but well I kinda feel like one when I have to ask such a thing. Mountain was one of those Ghouls I could relay on. But I don't want to desturb him every now and then. So the last few times I was trying to handle this myself. I wasn't sleeping for almost 5 days, sleeping for half an hour. If you could call this sleeping. It was resting my eyes nothing more.
"You're not disturbing me, come here" He lifted the blankets for me to join him under. I did as told, laying next to him right now, watching the ceiling. "Tell me lil birdy, why didn't you come the last few days? I know you are struggling to sleep, I could hear you turning almost 20 times in less than 2 minutes." He looked at me, with soft eyes. I sighed turning to the side to look at him. "I... don't want to be a burden to anyone and.. when I can't sleep I always came to you because I feel like you ground me with you presence. It helps me, when you are near me but I know you have something to do the next day. You're always here for me. I really appreciate that" I smiled sadly sitting up and looking down at him. He took my hand in his, softly brushing my knuckles with his thumb. "You are not a burden to me, I already got used to it that you are here next to me, so please come to me, every day when you need me. My bed is always open for you." he smiled at me.
I nodded, smiling too. "I will, thank you." I kissed his cheek, laying back, robbing to his side so I could feel the warmth he was ratiating. I'm really thankful to have him. He treats me like some kind of princess from time to time. Giving me flower crowns. It was really cute. He even got a spell so they could never wither. ALways looking the same it was amazing.
A few minutes later I fell alseep, in his arms. He smelled so good, I felt at peace for the first.
A few hours later, I woke to some moving beside me. „Mountain? What’s wrong?“ rubbing my eyes, I slowly raised from my laying position beside him. „Sorry princess, continue on sleeping“ he smiled tired at me, pulling me down. „Thank you Mount“ I cuddled up on his side, taking his hand in my, holding onto it while i fell intona dreamless, peaceful sleep.
What I didn‘t know was that he pulled me closer to him, resting his head on mine, also falling alseep wirhin minutes.
honestly i own this one to @gottagho-st because without this i would have written some trashy hurt/comfort
Tumblr media
this is kinda of a continue to what i wrote yesterday. anyways. the first time aurora heard anything about it she heard the girls talking about how phantom is going to be sent back and it pretty much broke her heart.
cumulus was talking to cirrus about how sad it almost feels, about how she will almost miss the new quint.
and aurora was running.
phantom was already in his bunk, his eyes already closed, but just her hand on his shoulder got him to open his eyes, looking at her startled.
"rorry?" he whispered, his voice so soft and no matter how much she blinked them away the tears still fell. he hugged her then, and she hugged him back. so tight, holding onto him like he's the only thing that ever existed.
"they said that you're going to be sent back." she said after she calmed down, both of them now laying face to face in phantom's bunk, she plays with his hair as he kept his hands hugging her, their tails tangled together.
phantom just nodded, his eyes looking vacant and far away, like they're hidden by some kind of a fog.
"i'll miss you," he said, and breathed out a sigh, the rest of the sentence withering away on his tongue (just like they both knew he would do soon too).
"i'll miss you too." she said back, closing her eyes, "promise me that you'll say goodbye before, okay? please phantom."
"i promise" he whispered in to the space between them.
and then, after the tour ended after not seeing or hearing anything from phantom for a week, if not more, she knew deep down that he broke his promise.
no one talked about it, no one even mentioned phantom, except for the older quints that appetantly were looking for him too. she wondered if they knew that phantom's going to be sent back (but then she reminded herself that it's more than most likely that he was already sent back). maybe she should tell them? but there's no one but phantom who she wanted to talk about it to, and he's already gone.
every night and every morning she would knock on phantom's door, asking if he's there, she never got an answer.
not until she heard aether calling to omega, his voice urgent and terrified, that one morning. it was so cold out that even with her hoodie and pj pants she had her blanket around her as she stepped outside, and then she saw phantom again.
something was so incredibly wrong but no one was saying anything, and it wouldn't really matter to anyone, especially not phantom, but he was wearing a fucking tee when it was this fucking cold outside she just wrapped her blanket around him, hoping that maybe it would snap him out of his trance, maybe it'll clear the fog from his eyes. it did absolutely nothing and she could feel the tears falling down her face, drawing invisible maps on her pink skin.
she don't know what the fuck went down, the older quints and papa were the only ones allowed to stay with phantom.
but now she knows that they're angry, they wouldn't talk with anyone, and papa just looked at them all with disappointed eyes.
she doesn't think anyone even noticed her being gone, and if they did she don't care. she quietly opened phantom's door, the way everything was so clean, even phantom's own scent, felt like a punch to the gut.
she slowly shook him with a whisper of his name.
he just looked at her before making place for her, and she held him so fucking tight she herself felt like she can't breathe.
"you promised to say goodbye." aurora accused him. "i'm still here." phantom offered her a barely there smile.
when she started to cry his own tears fell as well.
she hugged him tighter.
