Paranormal Lockdown - S3E4
I figured since I've already done posts featuring Buzzfeed Unsolved and Ghost Adventures, I figured I would keep the ball rolling and find other shows that investigate Bobby Mackeys.
As a side note, to keep things brief I cherry pick the moments I can discuss using established facts. I don't like spending time making fun of people like this when they pretend to feel a ghost in the room, its just not worth it.
---
Tumblr media
Oh my god! I looked for a picture of the rooftop to help identify the different additions to the buildings over the years but I couldn't find a good picture. I should have watched these ghost shows as a visual reference!
---
So it turns out that one of the men who was on the Ghost Adventures episode covering BM's is the host for Paranormal Lockdown. Not only that, it was the was the dude who said that a spirit that followed him home after the hunt ruined his marriage. Ghost Divorce.
---
Tumblr media
I do want to thank this show for not bringing up satanism when they first introduce the story of Pearl Bryan. They did slip up by saying the murder followed a botched abortion, which Scott Jackson planned to do, but it never actually happened (the coroner made note that there was no trauma beyond her decapitation and cut hand, and that her baby was healthy when she died).
---
"But as Nick and Katrina dug deeper, they found that the facts of Pearl Bryan's death may conflict with the rumors."
Wait so they ACTUALLY did research? Is this going to be a nice post and not me getting angry over dumb satanic rumors???
---
Tumblr media
So this nice looking gentleman is said to have done extensive research in to Pearl Bryan's murder and I'm already in love (intellectually, though if I was 40 years older...). They don't show much of what he says but now I'm determined to find a way to contact him to compare notes.
---
Tumblr media
So they clearly establish that there is no factual basis for Pearl Bryan's head being thrown down the well! I only used that idea as part of the Dusk comic to give the story a short plot, but in reality it's very, very, VERY unlikely that her head ever entered that building. My personal theory is that Jackson threw it into the Licking River like he did with her luggage.
---
Tumblr media
So during the clips of the Ghost Adventures episodes, Bobby Mackey mostly talked about what he's heard happened at the club but he says he doesn't believe in ghosts. Here, he seems to say that he heard rumors of the building being haunted all the way back when he bought the building in 1978. This is the first time I've heard this and I'm intrigued.
---
Tumblr media
OH MY GOD THIS WOULD HAVE MADE A GREAT PANEL IN THE COMIC. I NEED TO WATCH SHOWS LIKE THIS TO GET VISUALS
---
Tumblr media
Okay, so I did make fun of this guy for blaming ghosts on his divorce, but I have to give him credit that he climbed into the fucking well and looked around inside it. I don't believe its a portal to hell but damn, its unnerving.
---
So this show did much, MUCH better dealing with the facts. Instead of interviewing some asshat author who claims Scott Jackson was a satanist and killed Pearl Bryan as a sacrifice, they met a real historian and asked him about the case. I learned that there were already rumors of the building being haunted before Bobby Mackey took over and that makes me happy.
Nick Groff, I'm going to stop making fun of you for your ghost divorce. You went back and dispelled some of the rumors and I always give people who do that credit.

Nick Groff Breaks Silence about Ghost Adventures Departure
Snapshot of YouTube video where Nick Groff breaks his silence about Zak Bagans, Ghost Adventures, and more. Nick Groff has always tried to rise above the Zak Bagans/Ghost Adventures controversy. To this day, however, fans still want to know what really happened. Why did he leave? Did Bagans have anything to do with it? Why are Groff’s shows, like Paranormal Lockdown and Death Walker, not on…

While in lockdown, he is forced to face his greatest ghosts, worst nightmares, and a crippling addiction, in hopes of making it to opening night. What starts as an evening out on the town quickly turns into a fight for Cam's very soul and the life he holds so precious.

hey, not sure if the sfw alphabet is still open? but if it is can i get C, K and M with abigail? thanks!
⋆˚✿˖°
C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)
Abigail is a big cuddler both with her partner and her friends. Like Sam, she lies all over her partner—If they’re in proximity some part of her is touching them.
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)
Abigail has a tendency to sneak kisses—it’s kind of a little game between her and her partner. She likes to be kissed on the cheek and likes to kiss her partner on the collar bones
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)
Abigail isn’t so much not a morning person as she is a night owl which does make her, in fact, much less of a morning person. Living with the farmer she’d end up adjusting more to their schedule but would still end up falling asleep an hour or two after them.

Danny is adopted by the batfamily the second he steps foot in Gotham and does a pretty good job of keeping his secret. Almost six months now!! I mean, he wasn't fully able to hide his secret. His family thinks he's a meta with a handful of powers. But he's got the halfa thing on lockdown
He just didn't take Constantine into account
Danny met the guy exactly once and knew he was clocked the second they made eye contact. The next thing he knew Bruce was gifted a book titled The Care and Maintenance of Rare Entities
With a very damning chapter in particular.
He was starting to understand why Constantine was hated in cryptid/paranormal circles. Unbearably smug man
Dinner that night was almost more awkward than his first night in the manor. But at least he has the reassurance he's supported 100% percent.
Bruce just doesn't completely understand how to approach the concept of a half-ghost son. He does, however, have a bisexual son. Is it like gay? What's the protocol here? Cake? Custom cake? With ghosts? Rainbow cake? With the inscription 'Congrats It's a Ghost' maybe? He makes sure to reassure Danny, that he'll be having a talk with Constantine about exactly how appropriate it was to out him. It should've been Danny's decision to tell them. After a long talk with Tim, Bruce was reasonably sure he knew how to handle this. He just wished he knew what kind of flag was meant for half-ghosts. Tim wasn't helpful on that front
He's a little confused but he's got the spirit.

Dandy family
In the 1970s, the Dandy family moved into a house that would later be known as the Hinsdale House. The family began to notice strange activity occurring after they moved in. They received phantom phone calls, and odd chanting from the nearby forest.
The activity escalated, and the family experienced things being thrown, a full body apparition of a woman in white, and odd demonic creatures. The Dandy’s had one frightening encounter, where people were looking in through the window at them, when Mr. Dandy went out to confront them, the creepers weren’t outside, but rather looking down at him though the upstairs window.
At their wits end, the family contacted Father Alphonsus, from a local catholic university, to preform an exorcism. The house became very active during the events, and there was a sense of evil, flickering lights, and loud banging. The exorcism only made the activity worse, and the family moved out.
In the year 2000, Clara Miller Dandy, published a book called Echoes of a Haunting, which documents the family’s experience. The house was also featured on the show Paranormal Lockdown, and is now abandoned.

I have started a thing!!! I have an OC who's psychic that I made to basically pour all my paranormal/religious trauma into (as one does) and decided to try putting her into the marvel fandom..... it's not much though and it's in bits and pieces, not really put together. Lol
---------------------------------------
Persephone was walking around the city of New Orleans, for once away from her plantation home at the edge of the city. She wouldn't even be here if she didn't need more food or supplies for one of the lockdowns coming up.
After leaving one of spiritual shops with her load she paused because there, wandering around in front of her through the crowd of pedestrians, was traditionally dressed African American spirits. Now, this being New Orleans, that wasn't anything new but for some reason this was different. There were small differences in the patterns stitched and the way the clothes were styled, unlike any she had come across.
It took her a while to notice the young dark skinned man the spirits all seemed to gravitate to even though they were gliding curiously around the city, they always went back to the man. It was odd and made the investigator inside her perk up like a bloodhound with a fresh scent, but she held herself back because though the man was dressed in modern clothes there was still a traditional flare to them. That, and the way he held himself was enough to tell her to keep her nosey tendencies to herself. That didn't mean that she couldn't write down her findings in her journal which is what she set to do after she set her supplies down.
She was so absorbed into to writing down the information that she failed to notice the man until they crashed into one another and her things scattered in the aftermath.
____
T'Challa tried to tell the woman to divert her path, but as if she was in a trance, she ran right into his broad frame. Four fellow crowd-goes whipped around wielding long, gray spears, the head's edge mere millimeters from the woman's tender caramel flesh as she hit the ground. "Amankala," he said bluntly, the four spears retreating from her throat with the ends tapping the ground in concert. He carefully picked up some of her notes scattered across the cobblestone road when others chose to step over and around them, helping the young woman to her feet and holding out the journal for her to take.
"Are you alright?" he asked with concern, "you look like you've seen a ghost, or several."
He held up his fist and opened his palm, dismissing the guards flanking him. Without a word they dispersed into the crowd, again as strangers.
"Do you have everything?" He inquired, looking at the woman with concealed worry.
Perse pushed herself off the ground, not paying any kind to her cut up palms as she carefully grabbed the journal before she stiffened almost unnoticeably when her hand grazed the man's. Bright blue eyes seemed to stare right through the foreign man as a vision of a panther leapt out at her and the sound of war/ceremonial drums pounded in her ears.
She came back to herself with a startled breath and gave the man a slightly dazed smile as she waved away his concern.
"I'm fine, sir, no need to worry. I've had worse than a fall, and it was my fault. I was to focused on my notes when I should have been watching my surroundings." She assured as her eyes unconsciously followed the traditionally dressed spirits, one which stuck out to her because of the closeness he kept with the man in front of her. She could see the similarities in the spirit with the man, maybe they were related? Well, it wasn't any of her business since it might get her in real hot water than bumping into him did.
She almost closed in on herself when she noticed some of the town's folk giving her the usual derisive stares that she always got when she came here. The stares were mostly from the church goers that always whispered dark things at her about her so called 'devilry' and 'witchcraft'.

PLOT IDEA
I'm about to start watching Grave Encounters and I'm seriously down for a horror/paranormal plot. Your muse + my muse (hell, we can even play two muses each if you're down!), amateur paranormal investigators in an overnight lockdown in a reportedly haunted location. Could be an abandoned hospital, haunted house, maybe an abandoned hotel? They lock down inside the location for 8, maybe 12 hours and all hell breaks loose. Someone give me thiiiiissss!

jaaaaamie i need book recs pretty please; you know what i like :) (also HOW ARE YOU ILY)
hiiii arwen my beloved!!!! i'm good, how are you? 💛💛
this is truly so much pressure.... i genuinely have five tabs open just to answer this ask, it's that serious. i don't know if you've read some of these but i hope there's at least something on this list you enjoy!!
first things first you can always check out my book recs tag or my goodreads <3 i have an all-time favorites shelf and shelves of my favorites each year if you're interested!
putting the recommendations beneath the cut because this got longggg omg
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand — Young adult, horror, mystery, LGBTQ+. Three teenage girls come together to fight a dark and magical force that has been killing young women on Sawkill Island for decades.
Cover Story by Susan Rigetti — Adult, contemporary, crime. A young woman becomes trapped in a con artist's elaborate web.
To Break a Covenant by Alison Ames — Young adult, paranormal horror, LGBTQ+. A group of close friends investigate the haunted mines beneath their town.
Hangsaman by Shirley Jackson — Coming of age, historical, understated. A young woman leaves home to attend a women's college. (Jamie's note: the summary of this book says it's loosely based on a real-life disappearance. There's no evidence this is true other than the fact that Shirley Jackson lived in the same town as the missing young woman and her husband taught at the college the young woman attended.) This a strange book with little actual plot — it's much more a character study of our main character, Natalie. That said, I really loved this book. It's very fascinating to try to piece together what is really happening in Natalie's life and what is her imagination running away from her as a coping mechanism.
56 Days by Catherine Ryan Howard — Adult, mystery thriller, contemporary. Over the course of 56 days at the very beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, two people go from strangers to living together - and then one of them is murdered. This is one of the strangest and twistiest books I've read in the last few years and I am still not completely sure how to feel about it.
The Woman in the Library by Sulari Gentill — Adult, mystery thriller, story in a story. Four strangers are sitting together at a table in the library when a scream sends the building into lockdown. While they wait to be cleared to leave, the strangers become friends. Later that day, a dead body is found in the library. One of the four characters from the table is the killer. But how, and why? And then, of course, there's the other story.... This book genuinely creeped me out. The dual storylines aren't for everyone but I personally loved it.
Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall — Young adult, paranormal horror, LGBTQ+. In the faux-documentary style of The Blair Witch Project comes the campfire story of a missing girl, a vengeful ghost, and the girl who is determined to find her sister—at all costs. A group of teens disappear into the woods in the middle of the night to play a game that will help them find the ghost of a lost girl and the main character's missing sister. I believe my review of this book describes it as "a mindfuck and a half."
The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd — Adult, contemporary fantasy, mystery. A famous cartographer is murdered and his estranged daughter, whose academic reputation he singlehandedly destroyed, begins to investigate his death. This book has rare maps, one of the most original magic systems I've read, second-chance romance, dual storylines (with flashbacks that I found, at times, more interesting than the modern storyline) and a main character named Nell. What isn't to enjoy?
Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson — Adult, mystery, humor. A man attends a family reunion at an isolated ski lodge where the members of his family are slowly but surely being murdered. I believe I've recommended this one to you before! It was silly and definitely a love letter to golden age mysteries. A little outrageous at times, but it definitely kept me interested.
Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley — Young adult, mystery, romance. A teenage biracial Native girl witnesses a murder and is thrust into an undercover investigation inside her close-knit community. This book made me cry approximately a billion times. I have my problems with the romance portion, but this book truly blew me away. It's a slow-build that tackles a lot of topics but ultimately I think it does a phenomenal job.
I'm the Girl by Courtney Summers — Young adult, mystery thriller, LGBTQ+. A teenage girl discovers a dead body on the side of the road and quickly finds herself thrown into a world of luxury, opulence, and violence. It's dark and uncomfortable, but it's also a powerful and emotional read. Also includes a nod to Summers' earlier novel, Sadie. (If you haven't read Sadie, I also highly recommend it! Very gripping and dark YA mystery novel.)
Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li — Young adult, crime, contemporary. The story of a group of young Chinese American adults who plan to steal back stolen Chinese art on the dime of a mysterious benefactor. This story is a lot more about the characters and their lives than it is about the heists, so make sure you're ready for that going in. This is a stunning, fast-paced novel with multiple POVs and characters you can't help but love.
Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé — Young adult, mystery thriller, dark academia. Comped as "Get Out meets Gossip Girl," this is the story of (the only) two Black students at a private school with a sinister secret.
The Girls I've Been by Tess Sharpe — Young adult, thriller, LGBTQ+. Seventeen-year-old Nora, her girlfriend, and her best friend are trapped in a bank while it's being robbed. Or are the robbers trapped in the bank with Nora?
The Dead and the Dark by Courtney Gould — Young adult, paranormal horror, LGBTQ+. A book about a small town, the things that lurk in the dark, and two teenage girls who team up to discover what is haunting their home and killing their friends.
Check, Please! by Ngozi Ukazu — Graphic novel, sports, LGBTQ+. This series follows Eric Bittle, a gay hockey player at a liberal arts college. There are few series that hold as special a place in my heart as this one. It's got found family, a cast of the most lovable characters you'll ever meet, baking, vlogging, romance, and more. Just writing this recommendation makes me wanna reread right now.
Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales — Young adult, romance, LGBTQ+. A teenage girl who sells love advice anonymously is hired by a classmate to help him win back his girlfriend. This book is for the bisexuals. It's also probably my favorite YA romance in the world.
okay this is getting out of hand so i'm gonna end it here. i hope there's something here that you enjoy <3333 and i also hope you haven't read all of these because that would be so awkward </3 anyway ilysm arwen!!! 💕💗

DING DONG!
Trick or treat 🕸️🎃
You get: a fic idea!
I REALLY have been wanting to write a horror related SDV fic but I’ve been in Romance Lockdown, so I haven’t gotten around to it.
It’s so rich in horror concepts, but I would loveee to do something related to cults in the vein of Midsommar (it’s been done before I know, but it’s just so tempting), or taking ideas from real life cults like Jonestown.
Or maybe even a supernatural ghost au type thing. Everyone who knows me irl is completely un-shocked by this turn of events. Maybe like the farmhouse is haunted and Seb Sam and Abigail run a paranormal team? AGHH don’t even get me started
Horror is my favorite genre of media I like to consume, and I’ve really wanted to try my hand at writing it! 💞☠️👻

The truth of the matter is that we have always lived in strange times. The paranormal, in one way or another, has been a threat to humanity for many years now.
The Bureau was created as a solution to that pesky paranormal problem. It was to operate from the shadows, to be a name no one ever knew, to be the unseen hand that shielded the world.
For some time, it was.
But the paranormal, the unusual, the odd — they’re complex things. The only solutions the Bureau could provide were meager, human ones that always seemed insufficient.
The Monolith was such a solution.
With the work that went into the building, it must be noted that these human solutions were not insufficient because they were done sloppily but because we humans have never had all the answers. The odd has always eluded us.
The real issue started two weeks ago with the first sightings of the Shadow.
The Monolith has often dealt with strangeness as a result of it being built on top of planar anomalies. The Shadow seemed to be no different than the usual anomaly at first.
By the time its true nature was discovered, the director had already vanished, the emergency lights had already gone on, and the doors and windows had already been sealed shut.
The Monolith stands alone now.
It’s an hour into lockdown. You’ve been in the lobby this whole time. The power generator is out. The only way out is by obtaining the director’s key card. And, worse, with every step you make you can feel the hair on the back of your neck stand.
The corruption has begun.
The Bureau is a limited run, limited space Discord roleplay based on the tabletop roleplay game, Liminal Horror. A group of characters is trapped in the Monolith, their workplace, during a lockdown while an entity known only as the Shadow runs amok. Characters must figure out how to escape the lockdown but the only way out is by venturing further into the dark labyrinth.
Different mechanics will be used throughout the game: dice rolls, unlocking levels and rooms, damage and stress conditions, and gaining useful and/or harmful artifacts.
If you’re interested in this idea and would like to be linked to the server with more information, please LIKE and/or REBLOG this post.
