X, Y, Z?

X: How would you categorize your fanfic reading?  Are you a voracious reader?  Do you carefully pick and choose?  Something in between?

Oh baby I am a monster. Less so in the past few months because I’ve been busy, but there was a time where if it was Sebastian/female player on AO3 I read it. There are a few things I might’ve skipped past because of my own personal tastes, but for the most part I at least opened or peeked at them. I’m not too picky when it comes to fanfic really.

Y: What are your thoughts on your personal satisfaction with something you’ve written vs. the popularity of your stories?  Do you tend to be most satisfied with your most popular stories?

Honestly I don’t pay a ton of attention to the numbers. Every now and again I’ll get caught up in that because I’m human and we all care about validation etc, but for the most part I don’t get bogged down with that. As far as my own satisfaction I’m the most satisfied with whatever I’ve had a good time writing, and that could be something that gets a lot of hits or something that gets next to none.

Z: Is there a story you’ve written that doesn’t seem to get much love?

Not really! There’s definitely things I’ve written that have gotten big numbers and things that haven’t gotten much traction at all, but I don’t consider that to be an indicator of enjoyment or love. I’ve been really lucky to have an overwhelmingly positive experience with fanfic and writing in general, and I can’t think of anything where I’ve felt like it was disliked in that way. Lots of love over here :)

H: How would you describe your writing style?

That’s such a good question lol. The most conscious thing I notice when writing and re-reading things I’ve done is repetition. I use a lot of threes to try and hammer home a point lol. Otherwise I really love character dynamics and dialogue is probably the most natural/favorite part of writing for me, so I’d say it’s pretty character driven.

N: Any fic ideas brewing that you’d care to share?

Teehee. I’m actually currently writing a Mr. Qi mini-fic (about eight chapters) that I plan on publishing all of once I’m done. The premise is: 5,000,000g in exchange for a week stay at Mr. Qi’s estate.

R: Which writers (fanfic or otherwise) do you consider the biggest influence on you and your writing?

Easiest question of my life. @pbflutist otherwise known as honeybeewrites on AO3 is my number one always and forever. She’s my writing partner, and I’ve always looked up to her because she is one of the most talented, hardworking, well spoken authors I’ve ever read. Genuinely cannot begin to articulate how much over the years I’ve studied her work and strived to better myself for seeing her ability.

(Duly noted on the alex fic tho maybe I should hehehe)

D: What’s the most personal fanfic you’ve written?

I’m not really sure I’d call any of them personal, to be honest. I’ve put a lot of aspects of myself and my life into my work, but anything truly personal is really tough. I went into this in another ask, but in Under the Stars I wrote through a lot of heavy emotions I had been through, but that was pretty detached because the trauma and the situations around it were completely different. So if I *had* to call something personal, it would be that, but I’d say it’s still pretty far from truly personal!

O: What are your thoughts on people writing fanfic of your fanfic?

My brother in Christ we will have a spring wedding. I’m so serious. If ANYONE wanted to do that I would be beyond touched and honored and probably pretty emotional.

T: Any fanfic tropes you can’t stand?

Not really!! In terms of fanfic I think tropes are a lot of what make it fun, and I genuinely can’t think of one that I come across and am rolling my eyes at or passing on. The joy of fanfic is being able to write in a free space and have fun in the way you want to without the pressure that comes with proper published literature. As a trope user myself, I love them and think they’re a lot of fun!!!

U: Is there a pairing you would like to write, but haven’t tried yet.

Ooooh there are some! I really love a lot more of the bachelors in stardew than I’ve written for. Lately I’ve been writing some Alex dialogue in DTTW and it’s been VERY tempting to make an Alex fic. And, uh, Mr. Qi has been on my mind lately 👀 too.
